Latest / HEAVY Music Interviews / BENEDICTION’s Unstoppable Legacy: A Conversation With DAZ BROOKES
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and does Brooks from Benediction.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Perfect, Thanks so much. Benediction has had a rich and
- 0:05Speaker 2: long journey from Transcend the Rubicon to your upcoming album
- 0:08Speaker 2: Revenge Ravage of Empires. How does it feel to still
- 0:12Speaker 2: be at the top of your game after all these years?
- 0:15Speaker 1: Loving it? Man, I'm living the dreaming. That's what I
- 0:17Speaker 1: wanted to do when I was a kid, and I'm
- 0:19Speaker 1: still doing it at fifty six years old. So still
- 0:22Speaker 1: loving it, still getting the same buzz that did when
- 0:24Speaker 1: I was younger. You know, I still get excited about gigs,
- 0:26Speaker 1: I still get excited about releases. So yeah, it's all
- 0:29Speaker 1: good man. I've got no intention of giving up yet.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I'm still a big kid.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Oh man. Awesome to hear. And the return of Dave
- 0:36Speaker 2: Ingram to the band on Scriptures was a huge moment
- 0:38Speaker 2: for many fans. What was it like having him back
- 0:41Speaker 2: in the fold after a decade away?
- 0:43Speaker 1: We couldn't find anyone else. No, it's cool. It was
- 0:48Speaker 1: almost like he'd never left. I mean twenty one years
- 0:50Speaker 1: he was away. Yeah, and he stepped back in and
- 0:54Speaker 1: you know we'd fallen out on bad terms obviously because
- 0:56Speaker 1: he left to join Boltrow without telling us. And it's
- 0:59Speaker 1: a bit awkard. We hadn't spoken within the twenty years,
- 1:01Speaker 1: but then you know, we're boys and we put stuff
- 1:04Speaker 1: behind us and you know, only takes twenty years and
- 1:07Speaker 1: it's gone. Yeah, but yeah, we spoke. We spoke to
- 1:10Speaker 1: him and he started. We'd never partied. And when it
- 1:13Speaker 1: comes down to write in the album and stuff, he
- 1:14Speaker 1: puts his vocals exactly where me and Ru would expect
- 1:17Speaker 1: him to put him. So he kind of fits him perfectly. Well,
- 1:19Speaker 1: So it was good to have him back, and it
- 1:21Speaker 1: feels like he never left.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that's awesome. So about you guys went that long
- 1:25Speaker 2: without speaking to each other, Yeah.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Yeah, kind of. I mean he left on bad terms
- 1:31Speaker 1: and then we got some we got off at some
- 1:33Speaker 1: gigs with bolts for a few years later and we
- 1:35Speaker 1: you know, we were on a tour bus and we
- 1:36Speaker 1: never spoke to him for the whole tour, which is
- 1:38Speaker 1: kind of weird. It's just you know what, Ben Indicen
- 1:42Speaker 1: is not a prison sentence. If you want to leave, leave,
- 1:44Speaker 1: but just you know, do it properly. Yeah. So so yeah,
- 1:48Speaker 1: you know, we didn't fight or anything. We just didn't
- 1:49Speaker 1: we didn't communicate, We didn't really get on. But you know,
- 1:52Speaker 1: time Hills, you know, that's it. That's it.
- 1:54Speaker 2: It's all in the past now.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Yeah, of course it is. Yeah, you guys, does it again? No,
- 1:59Speaker 1: he's in big trouble.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Yes, that's right, gets one chance. You guys have always
- 2:05Speaker 2: a little bit heavy, aggressive music, but Scriptures took that
- 2:07Speaker 2: up a notch. Can you tell us what inspired the
- 2:09Speaker 2: intensity behind that album?
- 2:11Speaker 1: And I don't know. I think it was just the
- 2:13Speaker 1: fact that they'd been so long since we've had an
- 2:15Speaker 1: album mate. We were just determined to get something good.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I mean, we tend to write albums and we don't
- 2:21Speaker 1: like do four or five songs and then six album fillers.
- 2:23Speaker 1: We kind of we don't release then, um until we're
- 2:25Speaker 1: happy that there's eleven strong tracks on there. And all
- 2:27Speaker 1: the time, for the twelve years before Scriptures, we just
- 2:30Speaker 1: couldn't come up with the right album, you know. And
- 2:33Speaker 1: we were super busy touring. You know, people say we quit,
- 2:36Speaker 1: but we hadn't. We were super busy touring. Dave was
- 2:40Speaker 1: doing Dave Hunt was doing his stuff at school. So
- 2:42Speaker 1: it's just difficult to get anything, any rhythm, anything together.
- 2:45Speaker 1: And then when Dave left and Dave come back, I
- 2:47Speaker 1: mean that sounds confusing, but it's not. We just clicked
- 2:52Speaker 1: and everything fell into place. I mean, we had some
- 2:53Speaker 1: of the songs and scriptures for the whole of that period.
- 2:56Speaker 1: You know, there's a couple of songs like storm Grow,
- 2:59Speaker 1: for instance, we had that song ten years before we
- 3:01Speaker 1: did we did the album. You know, that's that's been Yeah,
- 3:04Speaker 1: it's been sitting on the back burner for that long.
- 3:06Speaker 1: So yeah, you know, we've we've got we've got a
- 3:09Speaker 1: whole bank of rifts because Benediction only write Benediction music,
- 3:12Speaker 1: you know, So we've got a whole bunch of rifts
- 3:14Speaker 1: that we can call on at any point. And I
- 3:16Speaker 1: can't imagine it'd be too long before we're ready to
- 3:18Speaker 1: go again.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it. And so for the new album, then,
- 3:22Speaker 2: did you guys create new material or did you play
- 3:26Speaker 2: on some of those old riffs that you mentioned you had.
- 3:29Speaker 1: It's kind of a mixture of both because because we
- 3:32Speaker 1: all live so far away, you know, I mean me
- 3:33Speaker 1: and really live in the same country, but we're quite
- 3:36Speaker 1: a far distance away. Dave's obviously in Denmark, Geo's in Italy,
- 3:40Speaker 1: so it makes writing and recording kind of difficults rehearsals, custos,
- 3:44Speaker 1: you know, fifteen hundred quid a time to get everybody's
- 3:47Speaker 1: flights and hotels and that. So we tend to write
- 3:50Speaker 1: with with Ruy writing a bunch of riffs because he's
- 3:53Speaker 1: a killer riff master. He sends me all the ingredients
- 3:56Speaker 1: and I kind of baker cake with mixing my ingredients in,
- 3:59Speaker 1: and then we send it to Dave and he puts
- 4:01Speaker 1: the icing on it. So it's kind of a weird
- 4:03Speaker 1: way of doing it, but it's the only way we
- 4:05Speaker 1: can do it. We used to, you know, in the
- 4:06Speaker 1: old days, we'd have a microphone hanging in the middle
- 4:08Speaker 1: of the studio and we'd make some music and then
- 4:11Speaker 1: I'd take it home and wouldn't be able to figure
- 4:13Speaker 1: out what the fucking we played because it was just
- 4:15Speaker 1: a wall of noise and it just picked little bits
- 4:17Speaker 1: out of it. But so, you know, the computers make
- 4:20Speaker 1: it a little bit more easy, but you know, it's
- 4:22Speaker 1: not as good as it was. I prefer us being
- 4:23Speaker 1: in a room together and just having a drink and
- 4:25Speaker 1: coming up with music. It's just not possible.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, do you think you guys would ever go
- 4:30Speaker 2: back to doing that again? Someday?
- 4:31Speaker 1: Or well, if Geo and Dave moved to England, maybe yeah,
- 4:35Speaker 1: but I can't imagine them uprooting their family just for rehearsal.
- 4:37Speaker 1: But I'll put it to them. I'll tell them it
- 4:39Speaker 1: was your suggestion.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Thank you very much. And with a carry on harvest.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Kicking off the new album, it feels like you're coming
- 4:47Speaker 2: out with full force. Was there a specific message or
- 4:50Speaker 2: energy you wanted to convey from the start of the record.
- 4:54Speaker 1: No, I don't think so. I don't think we have
- 4:55Speaker 1: to live up to anyone's expectations because Benediction do Benediction music.
- 4:59Speaker 1: We don't do the same everybody. We don't stand like
- 5:01Speaker 1: every other death metal band. We kept saying kind of,
- 5:03Speaker 1: so there's all of this. There's a bit of pressure.
- 5:05Speaker 1: There's no pressure because we only do our own sort
- 5:07Speaker 1: of stuff. But when we did we never know. We
- 5:09Speaker 1: sort we're going to do the album to we've recorded it,
- 5:11Speaker 1: so we get all the tracks together and we ever
- 5:13Speaker 1: sit down and we ever think about it. And it
- 5:15Speaker 1: was basically Scott that told us. The producer, he said
- 5:18Speaker 1: you have to open me that. So we both do
- 5:20Speaker 1: his superior knowledge and follow door orders and.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Said like okay, Well, that's the one we're going for.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Absolutely. Yeah, it's but like I said, because we don't
- 5:28Speaker 1: do album fillers, we do we consider, you know, putting
- 5:30Speaker 1: all our songs under there could be in any necessary order.
- 5:33Speaker 1: You know, it's not it doesn't really matter. Yeah, absolutely,
- 5:36Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. But you know, because we do fast songs,
- 5:39Speaker 1: slow songs, mid paced songs, you know, like I say,
- 5:41Speaker 1: not like every other death metal band. And I think
- 5:44Speaker 1: it was important to you know, small people in the
- 5:46Speaker 1: face for the first one.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, definitely. It's a good opener. And you guys
- 5:51Speaker 2: have played so many iconic festivals and venues over the years.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Are there any particular shows or moments that stand out
- 5:56Speaker 2: for you as defining in Benediction's legacy?
- 6:00Speaker 1: You know, I don't. I don't think so, because every
- 6:04Speaker 1: every gig is the best one we played, whether whether
- 6:07Speaker 1: it's in front of seventy thousand people at a festival
- 6:09Speaker 1: or it's in front of, you know, five hundred people
- 6:11Speaker 1: at the club. I'm not really bothered that. There's no
- 6:13Speaker 1: better feeling than knowing that we wrote these songs in
- 6:16Speaker 1: my bedroom and then you go to a festival or
- 6:19Speaker 1: a gig and there's kids punching the air and singing
- 6:21Speaker 1: the words to a song you wrote in your bedroom.
- 6:23Speaker 1: It's it's it's freaking ridiculous, man. So I don't think
- 6:26Speaker 1: there's been any particular song. It's been a progression over
- 6:28Speaker 1: the years of all all the all the albums, all
- 6:31Speaker 1: the gigs, all the lineups. You know, it's you know,
- 6:34Speaker 1: And because of that, I think we're our own biggest influence. Now,
- 6:38Speaker 1: you know, we don't know. We don't listen to anything else,
- 6:40Speaker 1: particularly because we're too stubborn. I still listen to Judas Priest.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Painkiller was still the last album I bought. That was
- 6:45Speaker 1: in ninety one. So yeah, I just we are who
- 6:50Speaker 1: we are and that's that's it. There's no there's no compromise.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Yeah, love that. And you just briefly mentioned some other artists.
- 6:56Speaker 2: There are there any newer artists that you're into at
- 6:59Speaker 2: the moment.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Not really, Like I said, I'm lazy. I still just
- 7:04Speaker 1: listen to me old classic every metal. Really. On the
- 7:07Speaker 1: other end, Ruy's got this bussy fire wherever the crap
- 7:10Speaker 1: they call it, and he's getting he's getting new acts
- 7:13Speaker 1: all the time, and whenever I see him, he's telling me,
- 7:15Speaker 1: listen to this one, listened to that one, But yeah, me,
- 7:18Speaker 1: not so much. I'm stuck in my old ways, man.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Yeah no, that's fair enough. You like what you like.
- 7:22Speaker 1: You like the classics, correct, absolutely what I grew up on.
- 7:26Speaker 1: I've still got no intention of growing up, So I'm
- 7:28Speaker 1: stuck in there.
- 7:29Speaker 2: That's it. Engines of War and Crawling over Corps are
- 7:33Speaker 2: some of the standout tracks in my opinion on the
- 7:35Speaker 2: new album. Are there any personal favorites among the new songs?
- 7:38Speaker 1: And why, well, this is kind of weird. This again
- 7:42Speaker 1: alludes to the fact that we haven't got any album fillers.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Every single week I have a different favorite, and every
- 7:48Speaker 1: single week it's different to the other guy's favorite. They'll
- 7:50Speaker 1: text me or they phone me and they say, man,
- 7:52Speaker 1: we've got to bring this one into the sets. Following week,
- 7:54Speaker 1: somebody else wants to bring something else into the sets.
- 7:57Speaker 1: So for this this European too, we've got we got
- 8:00Speaker 1: slot for three songs, and I think we've got six
- 8:02Speaker 1: or seven that we're just going to switch each night
- 8:04Speaker 1: and play because nobody's got a particular favorite that sticks,
- 8:08Speaker 1: you know, it changes every week. So but and minute,
- 8:11Speaker 1: I think he's crawling. I like crawling's typical, typical oss.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's wicked. And you guys have really embraced
- 8:18Speaker 2: some classical, classic death metal vibes with this album. What
- 8:22Speaker 2: about the genre still excites you and keeps you creating
- 8:24Speaker 2: this kind of music.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I'm not sure it does. In that's the that's the bottom.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I think death metal has got a bit. It's become
- 8:33Speaker 1: a competition for me. People are trying to be as extreme,
- 8:36Speaker 1: more extreme than the last band. They're trying to be
- 8:38Speaker 1: faster than the last band, and I think the essence
- 8:40Speaker 1: of individual songwriting is kind of dying a littill be.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Everybody's just trying to be faster and more extremely o
- 8:46Speaker 1: the band, and it's it's kind of losing it. We
- 8:48Speaker 1: play festivals now and you know, we'll be surrounded by
- 8:51Speaker 1: six or seven bands and they all sound exactly the
- 8:53Speaker 1: freaking tame you know, you come off and you don't
- 8:55Speaker 1: you don't know, you wouldn't know which band. I kind
- 8:57Speaker 1: of think if you walked into a club and they
- 8:58Speaker 1: were playing Benediction, even if you heard that particular song,
- 9:01Speaker 1: you'd know it was us, you know. So so I
- 9:03Speaker 1: kind of like that, So I don't I don't think
- 9:05Speaker 1: there's anybody we're not. We're not pulling up trees here,
- 9:09Speaker 1: We're not We're not reinventing the wheel. We're just doing
- 9:10Speaker 1: what we do. And I think people should just stick
- 9:13Speaker 1: to what the good ass instead of trying to trying
- 9:15Speaker 1: to outdo the guys previously. You know, it's it's not
- 9:19Speaker 1: a composition, man, death metal exists. We're not reinventing it.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Let's just make the best of it and do the
- 9:23Speaker 1: best we can.
- 9:24Speaker 2: That's it.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, As an answer the question, I'm boring our
- 9:28Speaker 1: listen to the old nothing nothing provokes me anymore.
- 9:31Speaker 2: No, But you know what, I think your answer is
- 9:33Speaker 2: fair enough because you guys really were at the forefront
- 9:36Speaker 2: of death metal at the very beginning, so you know
- 9:40Speaker 2: that you've heard the progression throughout the years. And if
- 9:42Speaker 2: you say that it sounds like everyone sounds like each
- 9:44Speaker 2: other at the moment, then yeah, I fully agree with you.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Yeah, they kind they kind of do it. I don't
- 9:48Speaker 1: think anybody's doing anything different. I even back in the day,
- 9:52Speaker 1: I preferred that the Tumbes and the Masters and the
- 9:54Speaker 1: Massacres then than I did to the D Side and
- 9:56Speaker 1: the Morbid Angels, because you know, on that side of
- 9:59Speaker 1: the wall, so they we're trying to show how many
- 10:01Speaker 1: notes they could play on the guitar, whereas over this
- 10:03Speaker 1: side of the water it was just about more of
- 10:04Speaker 1: a punk edge and just straightforward. It doesn't have to
- 10:07Speaker 1: be super clever to be good. You know. Benediction's music
- 10:10Speaker 1: is very simple. You know, we toured with Death twice.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I love Death and God Blessed Chuck. But when we
- 10:16Speaker 1: would go on stage, the crowd would go absolutely nuts.
- 10:19Speaker 1: When Death went on stage, everybody would stand and watch. Now,
- 10:22Speaker 1: if that's what you want, that's perfect, define, but that's
- 10:24Speaker 1: not what I want. We want our music simple, so
- 10:26Speaker 1: we can run around the stage like fucking seventeen year olds,
- 10:29Speaker 1: get ourselves going. That gets the crowd going. Before you
- 10:31Speaker 1: know it, the whole houses jumping, man. That's how we
- 10:33Speaker 1: want it.
- 10:34Speaker 2: That's it. Stick to basics, I reckon.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Yeah, basics. It doesn't have to be clever to be good.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yeah. And you guys have been playing together for decades
- 10:42Speaker 2: and it's clear this strong chemistry in the band. How
- 10:44Speaker 2: would you describe the dynamic within the band now compared
- 10:46Speaker 2: to when you first started.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Well, we were still finding our feet then. We didn't
- 10:51Speaker 1: know what we were doing. We didn't know whether the
- 10:53Speaker 1: scene was going to even happen. You know, we were
- 10:55Speaker 1: one of the first, so people are not going to
- 10:57Speaker 1: accept this, but we'll just do it for the crack,
- 10:59Speaker 1: you know. And that was we were trying to discover
- 11:01Speaker 1: this metal. Now we know what we're doing, we're comfortable
- 11:05Speaker 1: in what we're doing, and it's it's more of a
- 11:06Speaker 1: pleasure rather than it was more it was more hard work.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Then yeah, it's not hard. It's not hard work anymore.
- 11:13Speaker 1: It's enjoyable. You know. We've got a whole heap of
- 11:15Speaker 1: back catalog Week and fall On, We've got a whole
- 11:17Speaker 1: leap of experience and you know, memories weik and fall
- 11:20Speaker 1: and when me and Ruy are like brothers although we're
- 11:23Speaker 1: not so every everything's good at them and it's it's
- 11:26Speaker 1: rock and I love it.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Yeah, lovely. And what about touring for you guys? Now,
- 11:31Speaker 2: are you guys partiers when you get some downtime or
- 11:35Speaker 2: what do you guys do?
- 11:36Speaker 1: We're absolute parties, man. We should still we should be dead,
- 11:39Speaker 1: most of us, to be fair. But yeah, it's it's good.
- 11:42Speaker 1: But we'll see we go. We're going ho it's on
- 11:44Speaker 1: Friday for a couple of weeks in Europe on a bus.
- 11:46Speaker 1: So we've not done tour bus touring for a for
- 11:49Speaker 1: a few years. You know, I'm six foot four days
- 11:52Speaker 1: six foot six, Nicks six foot six, So getting us
- 11:55Speaker 1: on a tour bus in them stupid little bunks, that's
- 11:58Speaker 1: going to be fun for a few weeks. But you
- 12:00Speaker 1: know what, we've got Mastered with us, We've got jungle
- 12:02Speaker 1: rock with us. We're gonna have some fun for three weeks.
- 12:04Speaker 1: And I'm sure we'll have a beer or two. So
- 12:06Speaker 1: I'm kind of looking forward to it. I'm kind of
- 12:08Speaker 1: looking forward to living rough for a few weeks.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Yeah, oh wicked, going back to the old days. I
- 12:13Speaker 2: suppose I'm not old days.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's exactly what it is. Yeah, I mean
- 12:16Speaker 1: we do mostly festivals now, and you know, a weekend
- 12:19Speaker 1: work obviously, because we've all got jobs. You know, Benediction
- 12:22Speaker 1: doesn't sustain a way of life. You can just you
- 12:25Speaker 1: can just give you a job. So we've all got
- 12:26Speaker 1: separate jobs. So it's normally weekends. But we got off
- 12:29Speaker 1: of this tour and we thought, yeah, why not exce go?
- 12:32Speaker 2: Yeah awesome, And speaking of jobs, other jobs just quickly.
- 12:36Speaker 2: You just mentioned what is it that you do aside
- 12:39Speaker 2: from benediction.
- 12:41Speaker 1: I'm a rigger, so I work in the air at
- 12:44Speaker 1: concerts and theaters and my main job is I work
- 12:48Speaker 1: on the Olympics. We build we build crane towers without
- 12:52Speaker 1: the crane on the for the overhead cameras across the
- 12:54Speaker 1: city and stuff. But I mean that's getting too much.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I can't climb up on undred and twenty towers anymore.
- 13:00Speaker 1: I'm too old. But you know what, I'm in a
- 13:02Speaker 1: position now where I can point to the young kids
- 13:03Speaker 1: and so you can go up and do that. I'll
- 13:06Speaker 1: stand down point yeah. Yeah, I'll take the book, you know.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Yeahs an event manager at an arena in the in town.
- 13:14Speaker 1: So it's all kind of within the industry. Yeah, yeah,
- 13:18Speaker 1: because that's that's what we do, because it just means,
- 13:19Speaker 1: you know, we're freelance. We can take time off when
- 13:21Speaker 1: we need to go get stuck on a bus.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Wow.
- 13:25Speaker 2: How interesting? And with all the festivals and tours you
- 13:29Speaker 2: guys have done, is there any moment in particular that
- 13:32Speaker 2: you can remember that you want to share with us
- 13:34Speaker 2: that was just crazy or wild.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Or cool and not particularly I mean my my favorite
- 13:40Speaker 1: sort of times of meeting people, when you meet Lemmy
- 13:43Speaker 1: or you meet you know, you meet Rob Alfred or
- 13:45Speaker 1: you do something like that. I think I think our
- 13:47Speaker 1: favorite gigs were probably the first two or three gigs
- 13:49Speaker 1: we did on the On tour in nineteen ninety because
- 13:53Speaker 1: it was our first tour, is our first time ever
- 13:54Speaker 1: outside England and you know, you're you're pulling four or
- 13:57Speaker 1: five hundred people and this is when the scene we
- 14:00Speaker 1: just kicking off. We didn't know what it's going to work,
- 14:01Speaker 1: and we were absolutely amazed. So I would suggested first
- 14:05Speaker 1: the first year. Every gig in the first year was
- 14:07Speaker 1: just mind blowing for us. Yeah, we just don't get
- 14:10Speaker 1: daunted anymore. However, I still get excited. We played a
- 14:15Speaker 1: gig in Sampolo last year with Testaments and Creator and
- 14:18Speaker 1: when we went on and we went on a sort
- 14:20Speaker 1: of one o'clock in the afternoon and there'd been abandoned
- 14:23Speaker 1: before us that there was about fifty people standing in
- 14:26Speaker 1: front of him and this is an outdoor festival and
- 14:28Speaker 1: we're like, we're shitting it. So we're standing behind the backdrop.
- 14:31Speaker 1: The intro is going off, We're going to play the
- 14:33Speaker 1: fifty people. In the middle of the song, we walked
- 14:35Speaker 1: out and there were thousands. I don't know where they
- 14:37Speaker 1: came from in sessions, but they came from everywhere. Man,
- 14:41Speaker 1: what a super big I love South America. South America
- 14:43Speaker 1: is absolutely nuts. So soon we get down there, they better.
- 14:46Speaker 1: As soon as we get down to you guys, is
- 14:48Speaker 1: what we need to sort out. May I tell you
- 14:50Speaker 1: that was going to be well?
- 14:51Speaker 2: One of my last questions, actually, do you think there's
- 14:54Speaker 2: a chance you guys can come over here sometime soon?
- 14:57Speaker 1: We're talking to someone right now, I don't I don't
- 15:01Speaker 1: know where it is, but there's a there's a possibility.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Next May, I think we're going to be in Southeast
- 15:06Speaker 1: Asia and Australia New Zealand. So but this, this is
- 15:11Speaker 1: the third time this has happened. You know, We've had
- 15:12Speaker 1: people say we get exiled, they'll get put together and
- 15:15Speaker 1: then it falls off. So I'm not counting my chickens,
- 15:18Speaker 1: but I hope so, because I want to get down
- 15:19Speaker 1: there and sort you people are like, man, yes.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Yes, we'd absolutely love that. Have you guys been here
- 15:24Speaker 2: before though.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Nope, nope, never. Now I've got an Australian friend, but
- 15:28Speaker 1: that's about as close as it got.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Yeah, oh no, that's wild.
- 15:32Speaker 1: That's great. Like I said, we had a few offers
- 15:34Speaker 1: Modern Invasion off some tours in the nineties and they
- 15:36Speaker 1: didn't work, and then somebody offered us a tour just
- 15:39Speaker 1: before COVID, which obviously went tit's up excuse my friends.
- 15:44Speaker 1: So yeah, let's let's help this one works because I'd
- 15:46Speaker 1: love them down man. Yeah.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Yeah, the logistics, I know the logistics of it often.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it's yeah, it's a logistics. The surprise is the cast,
- 15:53Speaker 1: it's everything, you know. So if we can get some
- 15:55Speaker 1: some gigs in Japan and even easy or whatever and
- 15:58Speaker 1: work it all, then hop that happens.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Yeah, brilliant, awesome. And outside of music, what do you
- 16:04Speaker 2: guys all do to unmind or relax?
- 16:07Speaker 1: I love football. I'm a Liverpool fan, so I tend
- 16:10Speaker 1: to I tend to follow them customer fortune because I'm
- 16:12Speaker 1: not a season ticket older, I don't live in Liverpool,
- 16:14Speaker 1: but I tend to go on my them, so that's
- 16:16Speaker 1: good fun. Apart from that. Apart from that, really weirdly,
- 16:20Speaker 1: I like gardening. I like sitting in my garden just
- 16:22Speaker 1: mowing my lawn and just chilling the fuck out man,
- 16:25Speaker 1: I love it.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Oh beautiful. Well actually it looks like a beautiful day
- 16:28Speaker 2: behind you for dreary old England.
- 16:33Speaker 1: It's beautiful. I might even going more on my line
- 16:36Speaker 1: again today, just for the crack, just for it.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Yeah, oh lovely, that's so nice. Okay, yeah no, already
- 16:44Speaker 2: asked that, beautiful des Thank you so much for your
- 16:47Speaker 2: time today. We're so excited for the new album, Best
- 16:49Speaker 2: of Life. We hope to see you here soon.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Yeah mate, me too. I'm really looking forward to it
- 16:54Speaker 1: and listen. Thanks to all your support, I mean, it's
- 16:56Speaker 1: much appreciated.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Oh no worries anytime. Thank you for a lovely interview.
