- 0:03Speaker 1: Alright.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Nah, it's fine.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Now are you recording?
- 0:07Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's fine. I mean, it's fine.
- 0:10Speaker 1: We call it the Donald Trump. Don't hit record. Special invention.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome to Chuck's Cantina.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I'm your favorite barman host. Where the fuck you want
- 0:19Speaker 2: to call me, Chuck?
- 0:20Speaker 1: Damn it.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I have not done that in so long. And because
- 0:23Speaker 2: of this, because of that weird mute issue I told
- 0:25Speaker 2: you about last week, I like quadruple checked it and
- 0:29Speaker 2: like everything was fine, but I must have just hit
- 0:32Speaker 2: Because I was waiting for you to pop in, so
- 0:34Speaker 2: I turned the record off, so I wouldn't have, like,
- 0:36Speaker 2: eight minutes of silent audio, or just me making, you know,
- 0:40Speaker 2: sound like I'm Eric the actor. Wait, hold up.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Wait.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Check it.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Jesus, that was a long pop.
- 0:53Speaker 3: I took my time. You listen.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 0:58Speaker 3: That's when you cue the intro.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Welcome to Chuck D. Dino.
- 1:10Speaker 2: This is Chuck's Cantina Podcast. Where anything and everything is
- 1:16Speaker 2: up for discussion. And now, here's your barman.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Fuck you.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Chuck O'Donnell.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Fuck.
- 1:28Speaker 3: I won't say who.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I want to add someone who listens to this show.
- 1:32Speaker 2: They asked me, hey, just a quick little thing. Why
- 1:34Speaker 2: is it like every once in a while your show
- 1:36Speaker 2: will play and I'll hear the intro? And it's always
- 1:39Speaker 2: the same thing. You hear a guy walking to a cantina.
- 1:43Speaker 2: There's some talking going. You hear some balls clinking and
- 1:46Speaker 2: all this stuff.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Balls clinking?
- 1:48Speaker 2: You know, like billiards.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Bottles.
- 1:49Speaker 1: No, billiards.
- 1:50Speaker 2: You know, a little pool action. You know what I'm saying? Jesus. No,
- 1:54Speaker 2: not balls dropping or anything. No, you hear a little
- 1:56Speaker 2: ball clinking and stuff like that. And then all of
- 1:59Speaker 2: a sudden, you know, a lightsaber, you know, goes right
- 2:01Speaker 2: into the intro.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Yada, yada, yada.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Here's your favorite barman, Chuck O'Donnell. But why is it
- 2:05Speaker 2: sometimes right after that, before that, you'll just hear, I'll
- 2:07Speaker 2: randomly hear every couple episodes, fuck you. And I'm like,
- 2:11Speaker 2: if you don't know, then you don't know. Go manage
- 2:14Speaker 2: a Target. Only you're going to get that joke.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Hi. Yes.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Chuck Santino.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Edge email.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Chuck Santino on socials. OG patron back. What are you
- 2:26Speaker 2: drinking since... You know what, really quick, sorry, you always realize,
- 2:29Speaker 2: so like, I popped my top before you popped your top,
- 2:32Speaker 2: but like, before I hit record, I popped another top,
- 2:36Speaker 2: so now I have two drinks here that are open,
- 2:37Speaker 2: so now I gotta chug them before they get fucking warm.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Well, don't, while you do that, I'm doing a fridge cig.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I have the Kyle Special.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I know what that is this week.
- 2:51Speaker 1: And I'm also doing a.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Little bit of this old Woodford Reserve bourbon.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Ooh, ooh. Yeah. Because I feel like it. And I
- 3:02Speaker 1: don't want to get the good shit out because I
- 3:04Speaker 1: mixed a little bit of the Kyle juice in there
- 3:05Speaker 1: just to see what happens. It's not great, but it's
- 3:10Speaker 1: not terrible.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Hey, there's worse things in the world.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Actually, it's closer to like a sour, like a whiskey sour. Yeah.
- 3:20Speaker 1: But it's got that Kyle juice. I'm feeling it in
- 3:22Speaker 1: my veins.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Hold on.
- 3:25Speaker 1: He's hulking up.
- 3:26Speaker 2: You got to drive your big pickup truck and rev
- 3:29Speaker 2: the engine and waste three quarters of a gas tank
- 3:31Speaker 2: before you even move a mile.
- 3:32Speaker 3: I feel like the ultimate warrior right now.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I feel the experience coursing through me.
- 3:41Speaker 2: You'd know for a fact if he was around today,
- 3:44Speaker 2: there would be an energy drink company that would pay
- 3:46Speaker 2: him for him to be on their marketing.
- 3:49Speaker 3: He would be sponsored.
- 3:49Speaker 1: He'd be sponsored by Monster. And he'd have the Monster
- 3:53Speaker 1: green face paint. And just like Brock Lesnar has Jimmy
- 3:56Speaker 1: John's on his chunks, he's got the Monster logo.
- 4:00Speaker 3: He'd be the ultimate Monster warrior.
- 4:02Speaker 2: And his tassels on his boots, instead of just tassels,
- 4:05Speaker 2: they would just be Slim Jims.
- 4:06Speaker 1: He'd be at every X Games. When Tony Hawk goes
- 4:13Speaker 1: up the half pipe.
- 4:16Speaker 2: It would literally be like one of these things does
- 4:19Speaker 2: not fit here. Like, you know, you got Sean White
- 4:21Speaker 2: and like Tony Hawk, Bam Marger on the side doing
- 4:24Speaker 2: the commentary for the X Games or whatever. And then, oh,
- 4:27Speaker 2: going now down to the pipe, we have the ultimate warrior.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Thank you, Tony.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Warriors, can you feel? Can you feel the energy? I
- 4:50Speaker 1: don't know. I heard Jake the Snake Roberts has got
- 4:55Speaker 1: himself a signed with the WWE.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Like a Legends deal or something.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Right? Right. He's gonna be working there but I also
- 5:03Speaker 1: heard that he's on Oxygen so it's like I heard
- 5:05Speaker 1: those two news stories back to back. I guess they're
- 5:08Speaker 1: not really news but like I saw those two headlines
- 5:10Speaker 1: back to back like I was like, oh. Oh.
- 5:14Speaker 3: It was kind of one of those things like.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Yeah, oh. Well, did you hear who they just signed
- 5:19Speaker 2: to another Legends deal?
- 5:22Speaker 1: No, actually.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Necro the Butcher.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Oh, I did hear that. That guy's the weirdest thing.
- 5:28Speaker 1: It's like he's never stepped foot in any major promotion.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I guess he worked for Ring of Honor, but still.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Yeah, not like one of the big three. Actually, you
- 5:36Speaker 2: can say Big Five. You really want to get done.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I guess he might have wrestled AJ Styles.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Well, again, it's because Nick Khan is a legit wrestling fan. Obviously,
- 5:46Speaker 2: business choices he has to make based on business decisions,
- 5:49Speaker 2: but he's a huge fan. I mean, that's cool. Spoiler
- 5:54Speaker 2: for 2K27, who's going to be a DLC edition in
- 5:59Speaker 2: December of 2027. Necro Butcher and New Jack, tag team.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Oh, God.
- 6:06Speaker 2: So how are you?
- 6:11Speaker 1: It's been good.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Tell me, brother!
- 6:13Speaker 1: Jesus Christ. Quit shouting at me. Jesus Christ. This is
- 6:19Speaker 1: how I talk! I need to know. How are you?
- 6:24Speaker 1: How have you been coping? Have you tried your deep
- 6:30Speaker 1: breathing exercises?
- 6:34Speaker 2: That's actually pretty fucking good.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Thank you. I appreciate it.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Practicing another little impression.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Stole it from, I can't remember the guy's name, but
- 6:46Speaker 1: he popped up.
- 6:46Speaker 3: He was doing impressions of Jeff Goldblum.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Oh, I know who you're talking about.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Barack Obama.
- 6:51Speaker 1: But he does a Howard Stern, and one of the
- 6:53Speaker 1: best things from it is when he says, ride, ride, ride, ride, ride.
- 6:58Speaker 1: So I did that to my wife on the phone
- 7:00Speaker 1: on the way to work today, and she was like,
- 7:01Speaker 1: what are you doing? rawr rawr did you she was
- 7:05Speaker 1: telling me about her dreams and I was.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Like rawr rawr.
- 7:07Speaker 2: By the way his name is literally Matt Friend that's.
- 7:10Speaker 1: His name he's not my friend I don't know he.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Should be no I mean literally when he when he
- 7:16Speaker 2: went on Howard Stern and he dressed up no when
- 7:20Speaker 2: him and Howard Stern did a write off rawr rawr
- 7:26Speaker 2: I can't believe that show is still around like I'm
- 7:28Speaker 2: not gonna hate on him I'm like good for him
- 7:29Speaker 2: but like holy shit he.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Hasn't been cancelled yet so that's good.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Well, here's one of those things, like, I feel like every,
- 7:35Speaker 2: and it's gotta be a fucking skit at this point,
- 7:36Speaker 2: it seems, because, like, I, I didn't, obviously, I didn't
- 7:38Speaker 2: listen to Howard Stern growing up, because I didn't have
- 7:40Speaker 2: satellite radio, but, like, in college, I would, like, like,
- 7:44Speaker 2: listen back to, like, some, like, the, like, you know, the,
- 7:46Speaker 2: the hilarious, like, you know, with the, what's it called,
- 7:48Speaker 2: the Rat Pack, or no, not Rat Pack, uh, Whack Packers, um, and, like,
- 7:53Speaker 2: I would, like, and literally, like, obviously, it's different then,
- 7:55Speaker 2: and it's not probably because of age, but, like, it was, like,
- 7:57Speaker 2: every three years, you'd be, like, I don't know if
- 8:00Speaker 2: I'm going to sign a new contract. I think I'm
- 8:01Speaker 2: going to retire. And then, of course, day of, no,
- 8:05Speaker 2: I resign.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I don't have anything else going on. I think the
- 8:12Speaker 1: closest we came to getting into the Howard Stern universe
- 8:15Speaker 1: was when Beetlejuice was on WCW and Jeff Jarrett hit
- 8:18Speaker 1: him in the head with a guitar. That was the
- 8:20Speaker 1: closest I came at that point. And I didn't even
- 8:24Speaker 1: watch WCW, but I knew about that somehow.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Well, I mean, you see that in any comedy clip
- 8:31Speaker 2: of wrestling ever.
- 8:31Speaker 3: It always comes up. Yeah.
- 8:33Speaker 1: But you asked me how I was, and I've got
- 8:35Speaker 1: to say, I've been doing good.
- 8:38Speaker 3: It's been good. I get back to work. You know,
- 8:41Speaker 3: it's funny. The day after we recorded last... Sorry. I'm sorry.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Let me turn that off.
- 8:46Speaker 1: What? No, I don't have any money. Quit calling me.
- 8:51Speaker 1: The election's over. What do you want? I'm donating to
- 8:54Speaker 1: what now?
- 8:55Speaker 3: What am I donating for?
- 8:57Speaker 1: Um, you know, uh, not to get too into the personal, uh, weeds, but, um,
- 9:05Speaker 1: cause we got some stuff to talk about, but, um,
- 9:08Speaker 1: went to the hospital, uh, with the wife, uh, get
- 9:12Speaker 1: checked up on some things and, um, you know, um,
- 9:16Speaker 1: we got some followups, things are okay. Um, but that was,
- 9:21Speaker 1: you know, another, like a, it was kind of like
- 9:24Speaker 1: a flashback to something that you, you kind of put
- 9:28Speaker 1: out of your mind and like, in terms of staying
- 9:31Speaker 1: the night with her at the hospital, waiting for results
- 9:33Speaker 1: and stuff and then driving home at like four in
- 9:36Speaker 1: the morning, you know what I mean? Um, cause there
- 9:38Speaker 1: wasn't a whole lot to be done and she wasn't
- 9:40Speaker 1: in dire straits.
- 9:42Speaker 3: So, um, it was like, um, complications and not the
- 9:47Speaker 3: right word.
- 9:48Speaker 1: It was just a lingering thing from when she had
- 9:51Speaker 1: surgery last, and that's kind of turned into a hernia,
- 9:55Speaker 1: so to speak. so oh geez um not a whole
- 9:58Speaker 1: lot to do she's not in a critical way uh
- 10:00Speaker 1: it's just one of those things where we got to
- 10:01Speaker 1: wait for follow-ups and stuff like that so it um
- 10:06Speaker 1: a lot of phone.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Calls a lot of waiting for results a.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Lot of uh waiting for people to get back to
- 10:11Speaker 1: us and then you know since then we um We
- 10:15Speaker 1: went out to the store that weekend, bought a bunch
- 10:16Speaker 1: of stuff, changed our diet up.
- 10:18Speaker 3: We're eating a lot cleaner, a lot more vegetables, a.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Lot of fish and, you know, trying to get, you know,
- 10:24Speaker 1: blood sugars in.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Check and stuff like that.
- 10:26Speaker 1: So it's going to be positive. It's a positive change.
- 10:30Speaker 1: We're already feeling better than we were before. Meal prep,
- 10:34Speaker 1: some stuff. You know, I went to work with a
- 10:38Speaker 1: lunchbox full of like some baked chicken and some lettuce
- 10:43Speaker 1: and like a little salad cucumbers with a little pink
- 10:46Speaker 1: salt and like some bougie shit some raw.
- 10:49Speaker 2: We got pink salt dude like what's more bougie than
- 10:51Speaker 2: that shit I.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Don't know why is it pink who knows nobody knows
- 10:55Speaker 1: there's no evidence why.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Is it red.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Tell me but uh but yeah and you know just
- 11:04Speaker 1: cause we gotta eat differently doesn't mean we can't eat
- 11:06Speaker 1: well like this season was this chicken was seasoned to
- 11:08Speaker 1: the nines I should say marinated and was good man
- 11:12Speaker 1: it was a little spicy because when she was putting
- 11:14Speaker 1: little spices on there she had the cayenne pepper and
- 11:16Speaker 1: then all of a sudden a big clump of it
- 11:17Speaker 1: came out it was like well oh shit can't put
- 11:20Speaker 1: that back in there it just touched a bunch of
- 11:22Speaker 1: raw chicken i guess we're guess we're going spicy mode
- 11:25Speaker 1: but it was um it's been good all in all
- 11:28Speaker 1: it's been good um kind of kicked our asses into
- 11:31Speaker 1: gear so to speak and.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Uh You know, she's a trooper. She's a beast. She's
- 11:36Speaker 3: a G. She's a superstar.
- 11:38Speaker 1: She wants to go back to the gym and try
- 11:40Speaker 1: to figure out what she still can do, even though.
- 11:42Speaker 3: She's got a hernia. I thought I turned this fucking
- 11:43Speaker 3: shit off.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I'm so sorry.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Woo-hoo!
- 11:48Speaker 3: Oh, that's fucking funny.
- 11:51Speaker 1: But, yeah, no, she's a, I mean, good lord. Like,
- 11:54Speaker 1: how many of these gym bros would have a hernia
- 11:57Speaker 1: and be like, I'm out, I'm out. And my wife
- 12:00Speaker 1: is like, no, I'm going in. Yeah.
- 12:02Speaker 3: I'm going in.
- 12:03Speaker 2: I'm going in.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I'll do arms. I'll do arms for a fucking, a fucking,
- 12:10Speaker 1: however long this takes. I'm just going to have guns
- 12:13Speaker 1: like 72 inch pythons, brother. She's going to have crazy
- 12:16Speaker 1: guns after this. 72 inch? Jesus Christ.
- 12:18Speaker 3: What did Hulk Hogan say?
- 12:19Speaker 2: 24.
- 12:19Speaker 3: 24 inch pythons, brother.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Jesus.
- 12:20Speaker 2: 72 inches.
- 12:32Speaker 1: It's bigger than my gut. Bigger than my head, bro.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Dude. With his 72-inch pythons, dude. Oh, fuck.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Anyway, um... Yeah, that's, uh.
- 12:44Speaker 2: That's it.
- 12:45Speaker 1: And, you know, getting back to work this week has
- 12:48Speaker 1: been good. It's been good to throw myself into work.
- 12:49Speaker 1: It's been good to get some shit done.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Um... Yeah. Working hard. Working hard.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Hard.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Let's see, um... I signed up for some what they
- 13:01Speaker 1: call continuing education credits or units. Some virtual talks, basically.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Virtual presentations. I'm not going to be able to see
- 13:11Speaker 1: them live, but they're recorded and I can see them
- 13:13Speaker 1: after the fact, and that's good. Some development, like child
- 13:18Speaker 1: developmental stuff and milestones and getting better acquainted with that,
- 13:22Speaker 1: and that's good. I'm seeing the folks... for Thanksgiving. Nice.
- 13:30Speaker 3: It's going to be great.
- 13:31Speaker 1: My mom's asked us to get a little charcuterie board
- 13:34Speaker 1: put together.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Like we did last year. We knocked it out of
- 13:36Speaker 3: the goddamn park with.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Some hot honey goat cheese spread with some nice cured
- 13:44Speaker 1: meats and crackers and such. It's going to be nice.
- 13:47Speaker 3: It's going to be good.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I'm wondering how we can up the goddamn ante from olives.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Dude, I don't know. Again, it's just age. I remember
- 13:55Speaker 2: as a kid, the two things I always... No, I
- 13:58Speaker 2: still don't like olives. I still don't like olives. Caleb
- 14:00Speaker 2: likes them.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Fuck you.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Okay.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Hey, fuck you.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Fuck you.
- 14:05Speaker 2: You take it back.
- 14:06Speaker 1: No.
- 14:07Speaker 2: You take it back.
- 14:08Speaker 1: You don't understand.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Do it now.
- 14:11Speaker 1: These Kalamata olives. These olives with pimento, but you can
- 14:15Speaker 1: get a little cheese inside.
- 14:17Speaker 2: No, Kris Jenner, shut the fuck up and take back
- 14:19Speaker 2: your goddamn olives now!
- 14:20Speaker 1: Okay, fine, I'll take it back. Don't get the needs.
- 14:24Speaker 1: More for me.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Yeah. No, it's as, like... I remember, like, as a kid,
- 14:29Speaker 2: the two things I honestly wanted nothing to do with
- 14:32Speaker 2: was peanut butter, which is now because I love peanut butter,
- 14:35Speaker 2: and also honey. And, like, dude... There is this place.
- 14:39Speaker 1: What were we doing?
- 14:40Speaker 2: I know. Fucking stupid. What an idiot.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Idiot. I didn't like cheese on cheeseburgers as a kid.
- 14:44Speaker 1: What was it talking about?
- 14:45Speaker 2: Wait, really?
- 14:45Speaker 1: I don't remember that.
- 14:47Speaker 3: I didn't like mustard and I didn't like cheese.
- 14:49Speaker 2: I didn't like mustard either. And now the only thing
- 14:51Speaker 2: I really do catch up on is like a McDonald's burger.
- 14:54Speaker 2: That's the only thing. Everywhere else?
- 14:55Speaker 1: Nope.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Just give me mustard, please.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Thank you. Here's the trick with the McDonald's McDouble, okay?
- 15:01Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 15:01Speaker 1: All right. Tell them to take the mustard.
- 15:03Speaker 2: No, the Arch Double Burger is actually.
- 15:08Speaker 3: It's actually, yeah.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Well, if you take minuscule bites at a time, it's
- 15:11Speaker 1: actually really good. That's a callback to that one video. Anyway,
- 15:15Speaker 1: what you do with the McDonald's McDouble, if you're in
- 15:17Speaker 1: the mood, if you're in, for me, it's dire straits. Okay.
- 15:22Speaker 3: If you're down on your luck and.
- 15:23Speaker 1: You need something fast and greasy to make you, pick
- 15:25Speaker 1: you back up, remind you of simpler times. You take
- 15:28Speaker 1: the ketchup and the mustard off. You tell them, take
- 15:30Speaker 1: that shit off of my burger. And you tell them
- 15:33Speaker 1: to put mac sauce on it. Oh, I've put mac
- 15:36Speaker 1: sauce on it. Because you can do that.
- 15:38Speaker 3: You have free will as a human being.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Wait, I thought your way was the other place's way.
- 15:45Speaker 1: You can say, hey, Taco Bell, put the chipotle sauce
- 15:49Speaker 1: on my soft taco. You can do that. People don't know.
- 15:53Speaker 1: You can do that. You can go to Portillo's and
- 15:56Speaker 1: you can say, hey, I want my Italian beef on
- 15:58Speaker 1: a croissant. Make it happen.
- 16:00Speaker 3: We're just going to name all the places.
- 16:01Speaker 2: And people swear by that.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Yeah, well, people know restaurants exist, Chuck, okay? I called
- 16:07Speaker 1: it Kyle Juice.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Everyone but Chuck knows what that means.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Well, Chuck figured it out.
- 16:15Speaker 3: He's a smart lad. He knows.
- 16:17Speaker 2: It took a minute.
- 16:18Speaker 1: People know these restaurants exist. I'm sorry, McDonald's, you never
- 16:21Speaker 1: heard of it? That you found this podcast. Thank you.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Where are you from? I know you're from Brazil.
- 16:27Speaker 2: No, don't answer that question. Just keep spreading the good
- 16:29Speaker 2: word of the barman.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Yeah. I feel like shit.
- 16:32Speaker 3: I meant to post about the episode. No, you're fine, dude. Dude, I.
- 16:38Speaker 2: The reason I was worried about food and shit is like...
- 16:43Speaker 2: I just love honey. I don't like honey by itself.
- 16:45Speaker 2: There is this.
- 16:50Speaker 1: oh, what the fuck?
- 16:51Speaker 2: There's this Italian restaurant by us. I'll take you there sometime.
- 16:53Speaker 2: And they do these two different things. One is just
- 16:55Speaker 2: like this, I don't want to call it toast, but
- 16:57Speaker 2: it's like toast, but it's got this weird texture in
- 17:00Speaker 2: the middle, but they put honey on it, and it's
- 17:02Speaker 2: so fucking good, and they put ricotta cheese on it, too. Dude,
- 17:05Speaker 2: you want to talk about, like, I'm going to die
- 17:08Speaker 2: a happy man? Oh, shit, brother.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on, dude.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Hold on, dude. Well, you're talking about toast, brother.
- 17:17Speaker 5: Brother, brother.
- 17:18Speaker 1: You're talking about Bread that's been put in the toaster
- 17:22Speaker 1: is toast.
- 17:23Speaker 3: But if it's not in the toaster, is it toast?
- 17:26Speaker 3: Hold on. Hold on, Jess.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Hold on, dude.
- 17:31Speaker 1: What are you talking... It's not toast, but it's toast?
- 17:33Speaker 1: Is it bread? It's like.
- 17:35Speaker 2: It is bread, but it's like... I don't know how
- 17:38Speaker 2: to explain it.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Is it like bread?
- 17:40Speaker 2: It is like bread, but it's like... Here, what the fuck, Juan?
- 17:45Speaker 3: Is it a slice of a loaf?
- 17:47Speaker 2: It's like little.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Are we talking about like a biscuit?
- 17:50Speaker 3: Are we talking about like a flatbread?
- 17:52Speaker 2: Hold on.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Hold on.
- 17:54Speaker 2: I'm pulling up the menu.
- 17:55Speaker 1: He's going to find the evidence. No.
- 17:58Speaker 2: So they have these two different like ways you can
- 18:00Speaker 2: eat it and like, or yeah. And it's so fucking good.
- 18:03Speaker 2: And like, obviously like one's more expensive than the other,
- 18:05Speaker 2: but like every time we go, we always get one
- 18:07Speaker 2: or the other because it's just, it fucking, it fucking slaps.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Hold on. Well, if you're, if you're willing to spend
- 18:13Speaker 1: the money, hold on, dude, you're going to have a
- 18:17Speaker 1: good time. If you get the bread the one.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Way, but not the other.
- 18:21Speaker 1: That's not even Hulk Hogan.
- 18:22Speaker 3: What am I doing?
- 18:23Speaker 2: Hold on, dude.
- 18:25Speaker 1: I can't. I don't know what it is. It must
- 18:26Speaker 1: be this Kentucky Kyle concoction.
- 18:29Speaker 3: I made here.
- 18:32Speaker 2: So I can't find it.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Damn.
- 18:35Speaker 2: All right, cool. Well, point ruined. Hold on. It's Italian.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Yes. It's an Italian bread.
- 18:43Speaker 2: It's some kind of Italian bread. Otherwise, the other one
- 18:45Speaker 2: is something with... Hold on.
- 18:48Speaker 3: What is it? It's got cheese on it. It's got
- 18:50Speaker 3: honey on it.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Like.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. No.
- 18:54Speaker 2: The one thing I love, it's called... It's cow milk, cheese,
- 18:59Speaker 2: sea salt, and honeycomb on, like, a very soft bread.
- 19:02Speaker 1: And, like, the cow cheese.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Focaccia, thank you, is... Jesus Christ.
- 19:06Speaker 1: He's talking about focaccia this whole time.
- 19:08Speaker 2: The Italian don't know Italian words! Fucking stupid girly man!
- 19:11Speaker 1: Yeah, focaccia is bread. It's, like, crispy on the outside,
- 19:15Speaker 1: soft in the inside.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Thank you, yes. And, dude, it is so fucking good. And, like, literally, like, I, um.
- 19:22Speaker 3: What was it?
- 19:23Speaker 2: I took my wife out to dinner a couple weeks ago,
- 19:25Speaker 2: and she's like, where are we going?
- 19:26Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, the mystery.
- 19:27Speaker 2: And I took her to this Italian place. And actually,
- 19:31Speaker 2: here's a question I can ask you about this, too,
- 19:33Speaker 2: because I actually heard a podcast when I asked your.
- 19:35Speaker 3: Opinion on this.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Speaking of the election. So we're there, and she's like, wait,
- 19:41Speaker 2: where are we going to get it? And she looked
- 19:42Speaker 2: at the menu, and she reads out the three things.
- 19:44Speaker 2: I'm like, wait. She's like, wait. She looks at me.
- 19:47Speaker 2: She goes, wait, you want to do a girl dinner?
- 19:49Speaker 2: I'm like, fuck yeah. let's do a girl dinner so
- 19:51Speaker 2: we just got all apps we literally just got yeah
- 19:54Speaker 2: we got that bread thing the i can't fucking say
- 19:57Speaker 2: english um or italian focaccia.
- 19:59Speaker 4: Thank you focaccia focaccia this fist of your fucking stomach
- 20:04Speaker 4: focaccia about it focaccia.
- 20:06Speaker 2: That's good um we also got some uh some Brussels sprouts,
- 20:10Speaker 2: and then we also got, oh, fuck, why the fuck
- 20:13Speaker 2: can't I remember the name of the fucking raw meat?
- 20:16Speaker 3: Pancetta? Gabagool?
- 20:17Speaker 2: No, not gabagool.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Raw meat?
- 20:19Speaker 3: Tartar?
- 20:20Speaker 2: Tartar, thank you. We got beef tartar. Oh, God, it
- 20:22Speaker 2: was so good. But anyway, yeah, dude, grilled dinner. Always
- 20:26Speaker 2: recommend a grilled dinner. It's fucking great.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I'd be hard-pressed to not go to an Italian place
- 20:31Speaker 1: and order some pasta, but I can see, like, going
- 20:33Speaker 1: hard on some Italian apps. Oh, yeah.
- 20:35Speaker 2: No, because I had a full mindset to go there
- 20:38Speaker 2: to get the chicken parm because it's pretty good. But
- 20:40Speaker 2: I was like, you know what? Fuck yeah. Because the
- 20:41Speaker 2: problem is every time I go there, I get the focaccia.
- 20:44Speaker 2: And by the time I'm halfway through it, I'm like,
- 20:46Speaker 2: I can't eat anymore. And yeah, good thing we didn't
- 20:48Speaker 2: get any main dinner entrees because I get no entree. Because, yeah,
- 20:52Speaker 2: I was full.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Anyway. Speaking of hard times. Hard times, daddy.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Hard times, daddy. So we had a wonderful.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Walking beans. All right.
- 21:05Speaker 2: I want to ask you before we, speaking of light,
- 21:07Speaker 2: we can talk a little bit later about some like
- 21:08Speaker 2: AI and other bull crap going on, but if we
- 21:10Speaker 2: even get to that or the G man, but so
- 21:13Speaker 2: we have this wonderful dinner.
- 21:16Speaker 3: Right.
- 21:16Speaker 2: And, uh, it was lovely.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Our waiter, by the way, awesome candle lit.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Great. Not candle lit. Very romantically lit. I'll say that.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Some kind of light. Intimate lighting. Lighting. Yeah.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Intimate light.
- 21:28Speaker 2: A little dim, but a little dim. You get to,
- 21:31Speaker 2: you can still see around, but intimate.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Are you sitting across or do you like same side it?
- 21:35Speaker 2: I started doing the same sided.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Dude.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Same.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Dude.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I want to sit next to my wife.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Dude.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Yeah. I've been in relationships where like they did not
- 21:45Speaker 1: want to same side.
- 21:46Speaker 3: And I'm like previous relationships.
- 21:50Speaker 1: They did not want the same side. And now I'm like,
- 21:53Speaker 1: fuck that. I'm going to same side. And now I'm
- 21:55Speaker 1: with somebody that wants the same side. Cause she likes
- 21:56Speaker 1: being next to me. And you know what?
- 21:57Speaker 3: Fuck it.
- 21:58Speaker 1: That feels good.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Yeah. It feels nice.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Fuck. Yeah. Anyway.
- 22:02Speaker 2: And it's easy for us because I'm left-handed. She's right-handed. So, like,
- 22:07Speaker 2: I sit on the left. She sits on the right.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Dude.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Can I hold a hand?
- 22:09Speaker 1: You get more perfect. Yeah.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Come on, man.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Is that better?
- 22:13Speaker 2: Is there anything better?
- 22:14Speaker 4: Come on.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:14Speaker 2: If I can just get my head out of my
- 22:15Speaker 2: ass and get a decent job. But, no.
- 22:18Speaker 1: So, anyway.
- 22:19Speaker 2: So, we have this nice girl dinner. We're having a
- 22:21Speaker 2: couple drinks. We got a bottle of wine. We're having
- 22:24Speaker 2: a good wine.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Oh, fuck yeah, dude. Having a nice bottle of wine.
- 22:30Speaker 2: We're laughing, talking shit.
- 22:32Speaker 1: You know what? You can do that. If you do
- 22:33Speaker 1: girl dinner, that means you can buy a whole bottle
- 22:35Speaker 1: of wine and it's the same. Yeah.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Cause cause good. That's we saved money.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Yeah. It was, it's saved money.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Every girl's gonna be like, Oh my God, they get it.
- 22:42Speaker 2: It was free money because we didn't get entrees. We
- 22:44Speaker 2: spend it on a bottle of wine.
- 22:45Speaker 3: It's free money.
- 22:46Speaker 2: We didn't lose any money. If anything, we probably saved.
- 22:49Speaker 2: We probably saved. Um, yeah. So, so anyway, so we get,
- 22:55Speaker 2: we have this and, um, Our waiter recommended that we
- 22:58Speaker 2: do the focaccia because the focaccia is the one we
- 23:01Speaker 2: always get, but then the one with the toast, it's like, fuck,
- 23:04Speaker 2: I don't know what the fuck it's called.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Bruschetta?
- 23:07Speaker 2: No, it's not bruschetta. Believe me, I know bruschetta. My
- 23:09Speaker 2: fat fuck knows that shit.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Hey, bruschetta's healthy.
- 23:12Speaker 3: It's got tomatoes and- Yeah.
- 23:14Speaker 2: It's got veggies and cheese and oil. Anyway, so we're
- 23:18Speaker 2: doing this, and we get the bill. Everything's fine on
- 23:22Speaker 2: the bill, but as we have heard with some places,
- 23:27Speaker 2: at the very bottom, there is.
- 23:29Speaker 1: An extra charge for....
- 23:35Speaker 2: There is an extra charge on our bill, and it
- 23:38Speaker 2: is to, as it says, to help with uprising costs
- 23:41Speaker 2: and also to help with other means or something along
- 23:45Speaker 2: those lines.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, the Tartar.
- 23:48Speaker 1: No.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Well, just in general, but they probably have to cover
- 23:50Speaker 3: the beef prices anyway.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Probably.
- 23:52Speaker 2: But they also put on there to help with like
- 23:54Speaker 2: insurance and stuff like that. And it's just like, and
- 23:57Speaker 2: it says at the very bottom, if you would like
- 23:58Speaker 2: to have this removed, have it removed. Now, my wife
- 24:02Speaker 2: and I, we paid that because this restaurant is an
- 24:05Speaker 2: independent small business.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Was it a percentage?
- 24:10Speaker 2: I mean, okay. I think it is. I think on
- 24:13Speaker 2: ours it was like $ 5.
- 24:13Speaker 3: No, not even.
- 24:14Speaker 2: I think it was like $ 3.
- 24:15Speaker 1: 50.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Like a flat fee?
- 24:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like a flat fee.
- 24:17Speaker 1: At least they like let you know and then they
- 24:19Speaker 1: give you the option to be like, no. But then again,
- 24:23Speaker 1: certain people would be okay.
- 24:24Speaker 3: With being like, nah.
- 24:25Speaker 1: But then most people would see that and be like, nah.
- 24:29Speaker 2: No, but here's the thing I have the issue with, though.
- 24:32Speaker 2: And I have to agree with some people who have
- 24:34Speaker 2: argued this. There was nothing on the menu, nothing that
- 24:39Speaker 2: said that was going to be a part of it
- 24:40Speaker 2: until after we got the bill.
- 24:41Speaker 3: That's fair.
- 24:42Speaker 2: That's where I'm like, hey. Because here's the thing. What
- 24:45Speaker 2: I should have done, actually, and I kind of regret
- 24:47Speaker 2: in hindsight, I should have said, hey, please take this
- 24:50Speaker 2: charge off. And then I would have given it $ 350
- 24:53Speaker 2: or whatever extra in tip because our waiter was awesome.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Because that's a problem.
- 24:58Speaker 3: That's the hard part.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Because you're going to start having people. They're like, fine,
- 25:01Speaker 2: I'm going to pay that fee. But now my tip's
- 25:03Speaker 2: going to be a little lower because, well, it could
- 25:05Speaker 2: have gone towards your tip. That's what I should have done.
- 25:08Speaker 2: I still tip the 20% and all that shit.
- 25:13Speaker 1: See, that's the hard part, right? Because if you had
- 25:16Speaker 1: known up front, as a business... If you put that
- 25:20Speaker 1: up front and you're posting signage about that, that might
- 25:22Speaker 1: turn people away. Which is also a fair argument. At
- 25:26Speaker 1: the same time, the surprise thing, now you're telling me
- 25:30Speaker 1: word of mouth, right? That's going to affect business possibly
- 25:33Speaker 1: too if people feel like that's a problem. But at
- 25:36Speaker 1: the same time, a lot of the prices and the
- 25:39Speaker 1: differences in cost, that was not anticipated.
- 25:42Speaker 3: It's not worked into things and then it just suddenly happens, right?
- 25:45Speaker 3: It's a double-edged sword.
- 25:45Speaker 1: So you as a business owner, you have to try
- 25:48Speaker 1: and make that up. Now, again, if you're talking about insurance,
- 25:53Speaker 1: what am I paying for anyway with my purchase of
- 25:56Speaker 1: this meal? Does this not contribute to that anyway? I
- 26:00Speaker 1: get the rising costs and how that's affecting all of us, right?
- 26:05Speaker 1: And how you're making something out of the beef. Let's
- 26:07Speaker 1: say it's focused on the beef. You have to pay
- 26:10Speaker 1: more for beef. I see it every time in the
- 26:11Speaker 1: grocery store.
- 26:12Speaker 3: It's kind of nuts, actually.
- 26:13Speaker 1: It's insane.
- 26:13Speaker 2: I don't know the last time I actually bought ground beef.
- 26:16Speaker 1: The pork section is just completely barren and beef is
- 26:19Speaker 1: completely stopped because people don't want to pay for it.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Right.
- 26:22Speaker 1: But at the same time, they're making something more out
- 26:25Speaker 1: of it, right?
- 26:25Speaker 3: They're making this nice beef tartare. I hope it was good. Oh,
- 26:29Speaker 3: it was fantastic.
- 26:30Speaker 1: At the same time, you're not just raising the price
- 26:32Speaker 1: of that menu item to cover that?
- 26:35Speaker 2: Just raise it 50 cents. If it's at Popper, just
- 26:37Speaker 2: raise it 50 cents. No one's going to fucking notice.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Maybe there's other stuff going on at the restaurant.
- 26:42Speaker 2: I don't get it. As soon as this happened... Still
- 26:45Speaker 2: paid it.
- 26:48Speaker 1: The communication at the end of the receipt is nice.
- 26:50Speaker 1: I'm going to say a lot of places wouldn't even.
- 26:53Speaker 3: They wouldn't even give you the option. They wouldn't give
- 26:56Speaker 3: you the out.
- 26:57Speaker 2: But then they'd be like, wait a minute. Here's the
- 26:58Speaker 2: thing that sucks. Because that's one of those things where
- 27:00Speaker 2: if there's not an out... That's where here's I have
- 27:08Speaker 2: to say this. The manager of the evening, whoever's running,
- 27:11Speaker 2: whoever's running the restaurant, they should come up and go, hey,
- 27:15Speaker 2: why don't you know ahead of time? Because now because
- 27:18Speaker 2: here's where it sucks, because now let's say the manager
- 27:20Speaker 2: doesn't come up and say this. Let's say that little
- 27:21Speaker 2: message that the message at the bottom of this charge
- 27:24Speaker 2: wasn't on there. OK, now the waiter who we've had
- 27:28Speaker 2: a phenomenal experience with has to come up and explain
- 27:30Speaker 2: this to us. Now, here's the thing.
- 27:32Speaker 1: You know me.
- 27:33Speaker 2: I could be an asshole. I'm not going to be
- 27:35Speaker 2: an asshole to waiters or servers because, well, I've done
- 27:37Speaker 2: that job.
- 27:38Speaker 3: It sucks.
- 27:38Speaker 2: That sucks, but it can suck. And I know I'm
- 27:42Speaker 2: also one to rationally think most of the time, not
- 27:45Speaker 2: all the time. But I'm also the one who goes
- 27:47Speaker 2: that my waiter isn't the guy who made this fucking
- 27:49Speaker 2: choice to put this on the bill. Yeah, dude. But
- 27:52Speaker 2: the problem is.
- 27:52Speaker 1: It always blows my mind when people lose their shit
- 27:54Speaker 1: on waiters.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Yeah, but exactly. Because the problem is most people are
- 27:56Speaker 2: going to go, hey, motherfucker, to the waiter. And it's like, dude,
- 28:00Speaker 2: I didn't make this choice. Talk to the people in
- 28:02Speaker 2: the back. But, of course, they're going to be like, oh,
- 28:04Speaker 2: wait a minute. They don't want to pay that? It's like, well,
- 28:07Speaker 2: come on and talk to them then. But, like, of course, literally,
- 28:09Speaker 2: like the way it was.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Maybe it should be.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Like the way it was read at the bottom.
- 28:13Speaker 1: I was like, huh.
- 28:15Speaker 2: And, like, if anything, I think, and this is what hindsight, like,
- 28:18Speaker 2: Kate and I were talking about a little bit later, is, like,
- 28:21Speaker 2: because our waiter, like I said, the place was packed.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Waiter was great. Staff was great. They're always great there. But, like,
- 28:27Speaker 2: when we got our check, it was like, huh, the
- 28:30Speaker 2: time between seeing our waiter to the following time is
- 28:33Speaker 2: the longest. It's like. it's like are they are they
- 28:36Speaker 2: like waiting for us to like quote unquote like like
- 28:37Speaker 2: thinking like oh everyone's gonna be pissed about this new
- 28:39Speaker 2: like this thing on the check like let us cool
- 28:41Speaker 2: down or whatever like let us think about it i'm
- 28:43Speaker 2: just like because i've already got to the point it
- 28:44Speaker 2: was kind of like all right we're out of we're
- 28:46Speaker 2: out of wine here so like what the fuck are
- 28:48Speaker 2: we doing like come on like i got to drink
- 28:52Speaker 2: i gotta drink water yeah like i want to go
- 28:54Speaker 2: because we went to this yeah because we went we
- 28:57Speaker 2: actually went to this brewery next door to watch a
- 28:59Speaker 2: baseball game afterwards and like i'm like like i want
- 29:02Speaker 2: to go watch the ball game the fact but The
- 29:04Speaker 2: point I'm trying to make is, first off, don't be
- 29:07Speaker 2: a dick to food service members, for one. Because the
- 29:11Speaker 2: majority of the things that happen... Yeah, well, if anyone
- 29:13Speaker 2: in general.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Yeah, anyone in general.
- 29:15Speaker 2: But like I said, the majority of things that happen
- 29:16Speaker 2: in those places, it's not their decisions. But like, too, also, like, hey, be... Yeah,
- 29:24Speaker 2: be transparent. Be communicative about that. Like, there should be something, like,
- 29:26Speaker 2: when I walk in that shows that. Because....
- 29:29Speaker 1: Or.
- 29:31Speaker 2: If there's not someone that's in there before they walk in,
- 29:33Speaker 2: the person who made that decision should be the one
- 29:36Speaker 2: to explain that if there's a question. Because, like... I
- 29:41Speaker 2: hate to say this, most people, especially with the way
- 29:42Speaker 2: the internet is today, wouldn't rationally think. Instead it would
- 29:44Speaker 2: be our nice waiter, he would be the one getting motherfucked.
- 29:48Speaker 2: And it's like that's not fair to him.
- 29:50Speaker 3: Or anybody.
- 29:52Speaker 1: I mean maybe it could be somebody higher up that
- 29:55Speaker 1: goes around each table and talks about it. Or the
- 29:57Speaker 1: waiter could introduce it up top, like they have a spiel,
- 30:00Speaker 1: and give you the out right then and there.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Right.
- 30:03Speaker 1: And then you get the chance to recover throughout the
- 30:06Speaker 1: rest of the service.
- 30:08Speaker 3: Right.
- 30:08Speaker 1: That might be the end note of your experience.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 30:11Speaker 1: It feels like it leaves a bad taste, and I
- 30:13Speaker 1: feel like people are less likely to go back. Yeah. Yeah.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Because some people are going to go, wait, why am
- 30:19Speaker 2: I having to– because some people are going to get
- 30:22Speaker 2: their meal and be like, so now I've got to
- 30:24Speaker 2: make this awkward. But let's say, okay, I already got
- 30:26Speaker 2: my food, so I'm not worried about my food. Or,
- 30:28Speaker 2: because that's the other thing, too, is, okay, so, yeah,
- 30:30Speaker 2: table four said no to this, because now they're going
- 30:32Speaker 2: to think, oh, crap, are they going to fuck with
- 30:33Speaker 2: my food? Not that most restaurants don't do that.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Maybe, yeah, that's fair.
- 30:37Speaker 4: Most restaurants, again, every choice you make, it's a double-edged sword.
- 30:41Speaker 4: If I go this way, I'm fucked. If I go
- 30:44Speaker 4: this way, I'm screwed. But if I'm not me, and
- 30:48Speaker 4: you're not you, then who am I?
- 30:51Speaker 1: Then who am I?
- 30:52Speaker 2: Then who am I?
- 30:53Speaker 1: If you're me, and I'm you.
- 30:56Speaker 2: And who's that that movie is still to this day
- 30:59Speaker 2: one of the weirdest fucking movies i've ever.
- 31:01Speaker 5: Seen put your head into these weird glasses.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Things oh no it didn't work we.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Lied it works it was a trick we lied to you.
- 31:16Speaker 2: What's always funny really quick sorry what's always funny at
- 31:18Speaker 2: the end of that movie like Both the clones, they
- 31:20Speaker 2: go their separate ways. And the non-clone goes back into
- 31:24Speaker 2: his family with all this stuff. And then the clone
- 31:26Speaker 2: goes on to live his life. But everyone's like, oh,
- 31:28Speaker 2: everyone's good. It's like, he's like, no. I was with
- 31:34Speaker 2: your wife.
- 31:37Speaker 1: She'll tell you about it later. At one time.
- 31:42Speaker 5: You're like, no.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Me.
- 31:46Speaker 2: You did it again.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I'll find you myself.
- 31:52Speaker 2: That's why I love doing this show with you. We've
- 31:54Speaker 2: gone from Kyle Juice to Ultimate Warrior to politics to
- 31:57Speaker 2: fucking tipping culture to fucking Arnold Schwarzenegger.
- 32:01Speaker 1: If I'm not me, then you're me.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Dude, that's, again, I'm not condoning data centers, but if
- 32:08Speaker 2: there's ever a reason to fucking get them a little,
- 32:11Speaker 2: someone needs to use a little bit of extra RAM
- 32:13Speaker 2: to get it. Can we just get a three-minute trailer of...
- 32:17Speaker 2: What's it called? What the fuck's the movie called?
- 32:20Speaker 3: Hold on.
- 32:23Speaker 2: No, that's the one where I go to Mars. Fuck you.
- 32:26Speaker 1: That's when they go to Mars. The Running Man.
- 32:29Speaker 2: No, The Running Man is when I'm on the game show.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Come on!
- 32:34Speaker 3: Hold on.
- 32:35Speaker 2: What the fuck did I just type?
- 32:37Speaker 1: The Manchurian Candidate. No. What?
- 32:41Speaker 2: The six, the fuck? The six, no, that's, the six
- 32:44Speaker 2: days that, oh no, it's called The Six Day. What
- 32:46Speaker 2: the fuck kind of title is that?
- 32:47Speaker 1: Jesus. If I'm not me, and it's the sixth day,
- 32:50Speaker 1: then who are you? It's Friday. Saturday, actually. It depends
- 32:57Speaker 1: on how you count your weeks.
- 32:58Speaker 2: The Sixth Day is one of the last movies that
- 33:01Speaker 2: Arnold was in before he started running for governor and
- 33:03Speaker 2: shit like that. Terry Crews was in this movie?
- 33:05Speaker 1: What the fuck?
- 33:06Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Oh, Terry Crews in his film debut? No, he was
- 33:09Speaker 2: in Training Day. Wikipedia lies! Wait, Robert Duvall was in
- 33:14Speaker 2: this movie? What the fuck?
- 33:15Speaker 1: Anyway.
- 33:16Speaker 2: This can't be right. No, this is fake news.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Fake news. Terry Crews.
- 33:21Speaker 2: I fucked up.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Was that an artwork? Fake news. It's fake news.
- 33:28Speaker 2: No. So, again, this can be fake. Of course, it's
- 33:30Speaker 2: off the internet. So, the movie had a budget of
- 33:33Speaker 2: $ 82 million. That's not counting marketing, by the way. Usually,
- 33:36Speaker 2: the general rule of thumb is you times it by 1.5.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Since it's an Arnold movie, I'd probably go by 2.
- 33:42Speaker 2: The movie had a box office of $ 96 million. Would
- 33:45Speaker 2: you like to guess... So let's take out the box office.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Let's just go with the budget. $ 82 million. Can you
- 33:53Speaker 2: guess what the salary was for Arnold out of that?
- 33:55Speaker 1: $ 70 million.
- 33:57Speaker 3: I mean, might as well.
- 34:00Speaker 2: $ 25 million.
- 34:02Speaker 1: That's way less than I thought. Obviously, I told you
- 34:05Speaker 1: it was $ 70 million. I thought it was more than
- 34:07Speaker 1: double that.
- 34:08Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 34:10Speaker 1: No, I get 90% of the budget goes to me.
- 34:15Speaker 2: And I get all of the money. Well, again, this
- 34:19Speaker 2: is where some guys with a name like that are smart.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Because supposedly, what was it? Tom Holland allegedly made like,
- 34:26Speaker 2: he's going to make like $ 100 million minimum off of
- 34:30Speaker 2: the last Spider-Man. Because this is where some actors are smart.
- 34:33Speaker 2: They do the points thing. It's like, hey, fine, you're
- 34:36Speaker 2: going to pay me, hypothetically, I mean, God, I mean, fuck,
- 34:39Speaker 2: I'll do it for a fucking 10% of it. $ 10 million.
- 34:43Speaker 2: You'll be $ 10 million for this movie. Sure, it's like
- 34:45Speaker 2: my 10th Spider-Man movie, but I'm going to take $ 10 million.
- 34:47Speaker 2: I'm going to take a $ 10 million cut, but I
- 34:51Speaker 2: want points. So for every $ 100 million that I write
- 34:54Speaker 2: of this movie, you have to give me this.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Okay.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Because they're like, well, fuck, we'll make a billion dollars.
- 34:59Speaker 2: That's not going to... I mean, yeah, we'll be able
- 35:00Speaker 2: to write that check.
- 35:01Speaker 1: We'll buy that by $ 100.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Yeah, but then all of a sudden... The movie makes
- 35:05Speaker 2: more money than fucking Star Wars.
- 35:08Speaker 3: It makes two billion, right?
- 35:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's in the top three. I mean,
- 35:12Speaker 2: it's the biggest movie ever in America. And again, I'm
- 35:15Speaker 2: not going to lie. I never, because Star Wars The
- 35:16Speaker 2: Force Awakens, hold on, had the domestic record. And it
- 35:23Speaker 2: was literally one of those things. They said the all-time
- 35:25Speaker 2: record will be broken probably more times than that one
- 35:28Speaker 2: even be close to being touched. And Brand New Day...
- 35:33Speaker 2: broke it. And here's the thing though, it took them,
- 35:35Speaker 2: I think it took them longer to break it than
- 35:38Speaker 2: Force Awakens did, but like, they kept that movie in
- 35:42Speaker 2: the fucking thing, theaters. I'm not saying forever, but probably
- 35:46Speaker 2: longer than most movies would be. Hold on, when was
- 35:50Speaker 2: the box office?
- 35:50Speaker 3: When was the box office?
- 35:51Speaker 2: So the movie made $ 2.
- 35:52Speaker 3: 5 billion.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Holy fuck. Yeah.
- 35:58Speaker 2: So, yeah, it made $ 958 million domestically. So, yeah, no
- 36:02Speaker 2: movie in America has ever made a billion dollars.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Damn. Yeah. That's crazy. It's crazy if you think about
- 36:11Speaker 1: how much money that really is.
- 36:13Speaker 3: Oh, my God. Yeah, dude, that's a.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Sorry. Damn.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Here we go, movie stars, we gotta go for the points.
- 36:20Speaker 1: But again, like... Once we start starring in major motion
- 36:23Speaker 1: picture blockbusters, that's what we're gonna do. We're gonna get points.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Yeah, we're gonna do points.
- 36:29Speaker 1: So, Patrick, well, I'm sorry.
- 36:32Speaker 4: I owe Marvel Studios $ 25 because.
- 36:35Speaker 2: My movie didn't make no money. Fuck.
- 36:40Speaker 1: Madam Web.
- 36:44Speaker 2: They should have had to pay people to go see it.
- 36:48Speaker 1: No, please, come in.
- 36:49Speaker 2: No offense.
- 36:49Speaker 1: These Spider-Man references.
- 36:51Speaker 2: Can I time out really quick about those, okay, what
- 36:54Speaker 2: do they call them? The Spunk movies? It's like the acronym.
- 36:59Speaker 1: They call them spunk movies?
- 37:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like the acronym. What did Sony call it?
- 37:04Speaker 1: Does that stand for Sony? It was like, no, Spider.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Oh, hold on.
- 37:07Speaker 3: What is.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Ah, fuck! Spider-Man... Wait, Spider-Man... Hold on, click the clock sign.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Spider-Man non-Spider-Man movies.
- 37:20Speaker 3: Is the acronym?
- 37:21Speaker 2: I'm trying to... Wait, how do you spell the acronym?
- 37:24Speaker 1: Acronym.
- 37:25Speaker 3: Hold on.
- 37:25Speaker 1: Okay.
- 37:26Speaker 2: I think it is spunk. I think that's actually what
- 37:27Speaker 2: it's called. well that's what the internet dubbed it but
- 37:34Speaker 2: so here's the thing okay you know if you're an
- 37:40Speaker 2: agent you know these movies have nothing to do with
- 37:44Speaker 2: MCU and also that Spider-Man's not in it why the
- 37:49Speaker 2: fuck would you let your client do those movies hey
- 37:52Speaker 2: no offense to anyone working on those movies the Venom
- 37:54Speaker 2: ones were decent I like the first.
- 37:57Speaker 1: One I mean, look at the casting choices, too, like
- 37:59Speaker 1: Tom Hardy, fucking Aaron Taylor.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Johnson.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 38:04Speaker 2: I mean, I haven't seen Craven, but I heard I
- 38:06Speaker 2: heard Craven was awful.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Like, I mean, but think of.
- 38:09Speaker 3: The casting choice. It's not a bad casting choice, right?
- 38:12Speaker 2: Well, fuck even the fucking Madam Web movie, like like
- 38:14Speaker 2: Sidney Sweeney's on top of the world right now. And
- 38:16Speaker 2: this is just like right when her thing was started.
- 38:19Speaker 2: And she was like the third. I think she was
- 38:20Speaker 2: like the third or fourth like person that movie. And
- 38:24Speaker 2: I think who was or was it Dakota Johnson?
- 38:26Speaker 3: I think Johnson.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I allegedly I read that like after them,
- 38:29Speaker 2: like when that movie came out, she like allegedly fired
- 38:32Speaker 2: like her entire representation. Because they're pilots. These people don't.
- 38:36Speaker 3: I mean, no offense.
- 38:37Speaker 2: They don't fucking.
- 38:40Speaker 1: It's morphin' time. It's morphin' time. It's a decent choice.
- 38:47Speaker 1: I just think that the idea itself behind these movies
- 38:50Speaker 1: is not a good one.
- 38:51Speaker 2: And again, the problem is they literally were just trying
- 38:55Speaker 2: to rip people off. Because if you remember the Morbius trailers,
- 38:57Speaker 2: what was all the marketing of? It was, oh, Vulture
- 39:01Speaker 2: makes a cameo, which ends up in the movie for
- 39:03Speaker 2: like two seconds. And then they kept putting Spider-Man shit
- 39:06Speaker 2: on the walls in the movie. Movie comes out. There's
- 39:09Speaker 2: not one. The only reference to Spider-Man is Vulture going,
- 39:12Speaker 2: how am I in this universe? That's it.
- 39:15Speaker 3: They're going to follow up with that. Let's follow up
- 39:17Speaker 3: on that.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Mr. Six, here we come.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Yeah, in 30 years.
- 39:24Speaker 1: No. Dude, I.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Fuck you! i'm like thankfully like i'm not joking never
- 39:29Speaker 2: saw vulture didn't see madame webb i saw bits and
- 39:32Speaker 2: pieces of morbius um like i said i like the
- 39:35Speaker 2: venom movies i think the reason some of those are decent.
- 39:39Speaker 1: At jesus woody harrelson as carnage cassidy which is honestly,
- 39:45Speaker 1: that was perfect.
- 39:47Speaker 3: Right.
- 39:47Speaker 1: These are like dream castings. And it's like, the movies
- 39:49Speaker 1: are just, they don't have the anchor of like, Hey,
- 39:53Speaker 1: These are Spider-Man villains. Venom becomes a hero because he
- 40:00Speaker 1: has his whole arc fighting Spider-Man.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:04Speaker 1: And then becomes a good guy after the fact.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Well, remember the little fucking tease where he was supposed
- 40:11Speaker 2: to be in No Way Home? Which he is, spoiler,
- 40:14Speaker 2: for all of five seconds.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Yeah, like a post-credit scene.
- 40:17Speaker 2: But nothing to do with Spider-Man.
- 40:20Speaker 1: No, he's just sitting in a hotel room.
- 40:22Speaker 2: He's at a bar on a beach. Yeah. And then
- 40:26Speaker 2: he goes away, and it's like, come on.
- 40:30Speaker 1: That's a fuck you if I've ever seen one.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Well, the problem is, too, and also, again, God only knows.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Because supposedly the deal was with the whole Sony-Disney shit
- 40:39Speaker 2: was like, okay, fine. Sony, like, okay, fine. Disney's like, okay, fine.
- 40:44Speaker 2: You're letting us, quote, unquote, rent Spider-Man for our movies.
- 40:48Speaker 2: You could still do your movies, but you're not allowed
- 40:50Speaker 2: to use Spider-Man. And Sony's like, okay.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Like.
- 40:56Speaker 2: We're just gonna tease him, though.
- 40:59Speaker 1: Ugh, fine.
- 41:00Speaker 3: We're gonna talk about him, though.
- 41:01Speaker 2: It's like a prom night tease. We're gonna put webs everywhere.
- 41:04Speaker 2: And we're gonna put them in trailers, but.
- 41:07Speaker 1: We're gonna shoot webs everywhere.
- 41:08Speaker 2: Now, in Sony's defense, the Across the Spireverse movies are badass.
- 41:11Speaker 3: They're great. They're great.
- 41:15Speaker 1: But that is one franchise.
- 41:17Speaker 2: But also completely different.
- 41:18Speaker 1: It's so different. And.
- 41:22Speaker 3: Let's see what they do with that. Like how, how'd
- 41:24Speaker 3: they fuck that up?
- 41:24Speaker 2: Whenever, whenever the third movie comes out in 40 years,
- 41:28Speaker 2: supposedly they're, they've already, they're already working on it, but
- 41:30Speaker 2: it's been delayed a hundred times. Oh, you got an animation.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Like the animation style is so insane. Like it's like, Hey,
- 41:35Speaker 2: take your time.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Take your time.
- 41:36Speaker 3: It's like stop motion, but not like it's great.
- 41:39Speaker 2: Well, again, this is, this is speaking. Well, no, no,
- 41:41Speaker 2: go ahead. No, you first.
- 41:42Speaker 1: I was going to say, speaking of teases, it's completely
- 41:45Speaker 1: different from what we're talking about. So it's probably not
- 41:46Speaker 1: great that I'm bringing it up. But speaking of teases
- 41:48Speaker 1: that take forever, Uh, Elder Scrolls six finally got, uh,
- 41:52Speaker 1: Oh my God.
- 41:53Speaker 2: I saw that.
- 41:54Speaker 3: It's been like what?
- 41:55Speaker 1: Eight years.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Uh, I think, I think you're at, no, I think
- 41:59Speaker 2: you're literally, I think you literally.
- 42:00Speaker 3: Hit the nail on the head.
- 42:01Speaker 2: It's close to a decade.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:03Speaker 2: Isn't that, isn't that crazy?
- 42:04Speaker 1: Finally got a minute long trailer that reveals the title
- 42:08Speaker 1: and then a little quote at the end, which people,
- 42:11Speaker 1: I want, I saw a video, like they are dissecting
- 42:15Speaker 1: that trailer for 40 minutes and, and talking about the
- 42:19Speaker 1: implications of it and i'm like.
- 42:20Speaker 2: We're talking about the old one where it's just the
- 42:22Speaker 2: title or the new one.
- 42:24Speaker 1: The new one which is like a minute long where
- 42:26Speaker 1: they reveal.
- 42:27Speaker 2: The type it was and it was over it was
- 42:28Speaker 2: just a teaser and it was over now.
- 42:30Speaker 1: It has like its subtitle is sentinel yeah whatever but that.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Took doomsday and other schools sorry go.
- 42:40Speaker 1: Ahead obviously i'm not dumb i don't think i saw
- 42:42Speaker 1: a bunch of comments was like oh eight years for
- 42:44Speaker 1: like a minute long trailer and a title confirmation. It's like,
- 42:47Speaker 1: I've been working on it for longer than that. But like,
- 42:49Speaker 1: this is like, it's crazy how long it's been, but.
- 42:54Speaker 2: Well, and if anything, it's timely, we're talking about it.
- 42:57Speaker 2: It's like, okay, so that trailer came out eight years
- 42:59Speaker 2: ago and I'm not going to get into, we can
- 43:01Speaker 2: do a different day. I'm not going to get into
- 43:02Speaker 2: a whole fucking discussion about like what the fuck, um,
- 43:06Speaker 2: Bethesda has or hasn't done since then. But like, it's like,
- 43:11Speaker 2: we're literally on the verge of fucking GTA coming out.
- 43:15Speaker 2: and like at the same time like here's okay i
- 43:23Speaker 2: under if anything we can get to our actual thing
- 43:25Speaker 2: we're going to discuss here in a second but here's
- 43:27Speaker 2: the thing i just that needs to be explained to
- 43:29Speaker 2: me okay so this elder scrolls game okay probably is
- 43:35Speaker 2: gonna cost i mean it's gonna have to run at
- 43:38Speaker 2: least north of 500 million dollars okay um supposedly allegedly
- 43:43Speaker 2: because obviously it's coming out here shortly or you know
- 43:46Speaker 2: knock on what it actually does for all of you
- 43:48Speaker 2: gta6 we are literally 15 days away that it's actually
- 43:53Speaker 2: coming out on console i hope for you it does
- 43:55Speaker 2: i really do i'm not trying to be a dick
- 43:56Speaker 2: about or make a joke about that because we've been
- 43:57Speaker 2: waiting i don't know since uh you and i graduated
- 44:00Speaker 2: what's it called yeah fucking high school i hate to
- 44:02Speaker 2: make myself sound when i say that yeah but like
- 44:06Speaker 2: here's the thing Why is.
- 44:10Speaker 1: It? And I get it.
- 44:11Speaker 2: It's a lot to do with the technology. It's a
- 44:13Speaker 2: lot to do with the... It's not about what you've earned.
- 44:16Speaker 2: It's about what you've negotiated. A lot of it's negotiation.
- 44:19Speaker 2: But why is it that these video games, like the
- 44:22Speaker 2: new Gears of War, cost over $ 500 million?
- 44:29Speaker 1: Why?
- 44:30Speaker 2: Why?
- 44:31Speaker 3: Explain it to me.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Why is it so expensive? Why does it have to
- 44:36Speaker 2: be that expensive? I am one of these people who
- 44:39Speaker 2: is not, like I said, I've said this on the podcast,
- 44:42Speaker 2: I am not a person who is pro-AI in terms
- 44:44Speaker 2: of taking people's jobs, especially with the voice acting career
- 44:46Speaker 2: I want to take. For all that shit, I want
- 44:50Speaker 2: fuck all to do with it. But this is where
- 44:54Speaker 2: that goes, well, it would help if, because it's like,
- 44:56Speaker 2: why does that shit cost so much money? Because again, GTA,
- 45:02Speaker 2: I think they said it probably costs a billion dollars
- 45:03Speaker 2: to make, which they've already made back tenfold. And it
- 45:08Speaker 2: hasn't even come out yet.
- 45:08Speaker 3: It's insane. Again, it's an insane amount.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Well, allegedly, supposedly, allegedly. So this is what they do
- 45:14Speaker 2: with GTA.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Yeah, 6.
- 45:15Speaker 2: God, I sound like a boomer when I say that.
- 45:17Speaker 2: With 5, it came out on console.
- 45:20Speaker 3: On the.
- 45:22Speaker 2: Technically two consoles ago, right? Yeah, so on the 360
- 45:25Speaker 2: and PS3. Then they put it out on the PS4
- 45:29Speaker 2: and Xbox One.
- 45:32Speaker 1: Then and then.
- 45:34Speaker 2: They put it out on PC. And this stuff, by
- 45:36Speaker 2: the way, is years. It's not all together. It bounces years.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Because they know they're going to make their money. Supposedly,
- 45:44Speaker 2: with GTA 6, it was supposed to be, it comes
- 45:47Speaker 2: out on the console, so your PS5s and your Xbox series,
- 45:51Speaker 2: whatever the fuck. And then PC would probably be a
- 45:54Speaker 2: year and a half. Supposedly now, it comes out on
- 45:56Speaker 2: PC in January or February. They expedited it. Because they
- 46:01Speaker 2: know People– they're going to make so much– because they
- 46:04Speaker 2: know people are going to fucking pay for it. And
- 46:06Speaker 2: also because– there are also people– there's rumors that they're
- 46:10Speaker 2: worried about, like, with the AI, like, stuff, the RAM
- 46:13Speaker 2: short and shit like that. People are trying to invest
- 46:16Speaker 2: now into, like, buying PCs and shit like that because
- 46:18Speaker 2: they don't think people are going to be buying consoles
- 46:20Speaker 2: or PCs in a year. So that's why apparently it's
- 46:24Speaker 2: been expedited, allegedly.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Of course.
- 46:27Speaker 2: So it's like– But again, why does it cost so much? Why?
- 46:31Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 46:34Speaker 2: That's with anything, right?
- 46:35Speaker 1: Well, my best guess is because.
- 46:38Speaker 3: It's not using AI.
- 46:39Speaker 2: Well, it's actual people making it, yes.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Right, and that takes time to make unique code. To
- 46:46Speaker 1: code everything takes so long. Oh, yeah. Then to bug test.
- 46:50Speaker 1: Then you have graphic artists that are making... All these
- 46:53Speaker 1: unique assets. Like, it just takes so much time. And
- 46:57Speaker 1: you have to pay people. And then you also probably
- 46:59Speaker 1: have to license specific software for so long.
- 47:02Speaker 2: That's true, too.
- 47:04Speaker 1: But, again, like, these numbers seem insane. And it just
- 47:08Speaker 1: speaks to, like, the amount of team. Like, the team size.
- 47:13Speaker 1: I mean, the probably, like, cost of the spaces that
- 47:17Speaker 1: they're using. Oh, yeah. The hardware itself.
- 47:19Speaker 3: Like, imagine.
- 47:22Speaker 1: coding fucking Skyrim. Like, how are you going to, how
- 47:25Speaker 1: are you, what are you running that on?
- 47:27Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 47:27Speaker 1: To have all these different things running at the same time.
- 47:32Speaker 2: Well, I mean, did you hear about, like, for example,
- 47:34Speaker 2: and I hate to bring this up because I don't
- 47:37Speaker 2: like talking about people losing their jobs, but it's like BioWare,
- 47:40Speaker 2: the company behind Mass Effect. Like, they got shut down
- 47:44Speaker 2: by EA. And apparently they were allegedly in the middle
- 47:48Speaker 2: of making a new Mass Effect. But, supposedly they did
- 47:51Speaker 2: this to focus on making a new Battlefront. Because, here's
- 47:56Speaker 2: the thing, Battlefront's still popular. Now what's going to be
- 48:00Speaker 2: interesting to see, do they make Battlefront 3 and fuck
- 48:04Speaker 2: it up at first like they did last time? Which,
- 48:05Speaker 2: by the way, which, by the way, that, I believe,
- 48:10Speaker 2: is still the most downvoted thing ever on Reddit. I
- 48:17Speaker 2: think it was like negative 600,000 Here, actually, let me.
- 48:21Speaker 3: I absolutely fucked with microtransactions, if I'm not mistaken.
- 48:24Speaker 2: Well, because, no, it literally was paid to win. It
- 48:27Speaker 2: was paid to win. Okay, I gotta bring this up. Because, actually,
- 48:30Speaker 2: I saw a video about this today, and I gotta
- 48:32Speaker 2: bring this up. It was originally paid to win. So,
- 48:34Speaker 2: let me... Before we... Let me give you a.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Here, let me.
- 48:39Speaker 2: You know, since post-Halloween... you know, why don't you, uh,
- 48:42Speaker 2: you know, it's time, Mariah's been, Mariah's broken out of
- 48:46Speaker 2: the ice, just like Godzilla did in Godzilla vs. Kong,
- 48:48Speaker 2: she's free. So, oh, I gotta find this, I gotta
- 48:55Speaker 2: find the, uh, the fucking, uh, note, so.
- 48:58Speaker 1: GTA 6 come to consoles, and to PC real soon. So,
- 49:07Speaker 1: Elder Scrolls 6 has got a name, And probably will
- 49:11Speaker 1: come out when I have gray.
- 49:13Speaker 2: Okay, here it is.
- 49:15Speaker 3: Okay, sorry.
- 49:16Speaker 1: So.
- 49:17Speaker 3: Let's fill in time.
- 49:18Speaker 2: Battlefront 2 came out in 2017, if I'm not mistaken. Yeah.
- 49:26Speaker 2: Which is.
- 49:27Speaker 3: Fuck.
- 49:28Speaker 2: Almost 10 years ago.
- 49:29Speaker 3: Okay.
- 49:32Speaker 2: I remember... No, seriously.
- 49:34Speaker 1: One of... I'll get a little... Give my mother.
- 49:38Speaker 3: My ass up.
- 49:39Speaker 2: It's not a bad thing. One of those first... Hold on.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Let me make sure I get my dates right. You're obviously...
- 49:48Speaker 2: Is that what happened?
- 49:48Speaker 1: No, no, no, no.
- 49:50Speaker 2: You're obviously married, right? Of course you are.
- 49:53Speaker 3: I was at your wedding. Yes, it's been over a year.
- 49:55Speaker 1: So.
- 49:56Speaker 2: My hot ass wedding. I remember....
- 49:59Speaker 1: Your wedding actually we're two for two on.
- 50:01Speaker 2: What dude honestly i think in terms of heatness i
- 50:05Speaker 2: mean obviously my wedding was outside but like i think
- 50:07Speaker 2: in terms of heatness overall i think your wedding takes
- 50:10Speaker 2: the cake on that.
- 50:10Speaker 1: One my wedding was like a greenhouse it was oh
- 50:13Speaker 1: my god thank god i was inside dude holy shit
- 50:16Speaker 1: anyway anyway um i still remember the groomsmen behind me
- 50:21Speaker 1: laughing their ass off because my back was getting darker
- 50:23Speaker 1: from the sweat i know it's gross anyway.
- 50:26Speaker 2: One of the first gifts I ever got from my
- 50:30Speaker 2: lovely wife, and this was one of those gifts where
- 50:33Speaker 2: I'm like, this is the one. She bought me the
- 50:40Speaker 2: original Battlefront, the first EA.
- 50:45Speaker 3: One.
- 50:46Speaker 2: She knew I really wanted it, and I'm guilty as
- 50:51Speaker 2: I'll admit it. I am awful with gifts. I don't
- 50:54Speaker 2: ever say, here's what I want. So much so, even
- 50:56Speaker 2: with therapy, I worked on this with my therapist, that
- 50:58Speaker 2: literally I have shared this with, she has obviously, we
- 51:01Speaker 2: share on Amazon.
- 51:02Speaker 3: So she's access.
- 51:03Speaker 2: I've shared this with my mom. I've shared this with
- 51:04Speaker 2: other people. I'm like, look, I'm mad with gifts. Here's
- 51:07Speaker 2: my Amazon wishlist. You don't have to.
- 51:09Speaker 1: Give me anything.
- 51:10Speaker 2: Let's just like, look, here it is. If you ever
- 51:13Speaker 2: want to give me anything, this is what it is. So,
- 51:18Speaker 2: she got me this. But that was 2015. Battlefront 2
- 51:20Speaker 2: came out in 2017. So in the first Battlefront, it
- 51:24Speaker 2: was really just about the original trilogy. So you're just
- 51:27Speaker 2: playing as Luke, Vader, Han, Leia, and then they had
- 51:30Speaker 2: the Rogue One DLC.
- 51:32Speaker 1: The game was fun.
- 51:33Speaker 2: There were some issues with it. It was pretty much
- 51:36Speaker 2: either you had... This is the 360 time, so it
- 51:39Speaker 2: was pretty much... Right at the end of 360, Xbox One.
- 51:42Speaker 2: So it was pretty much either you had Xbox Live,
- 51:44Speaker 2: which you had to pay for, or you had the
- 51:48Speaker 2: Xbox One stuff where you had online, but then a
- 51:51Speaker 2: lot of people were kind of like, well... I don't
- 51:53Speaker 2: really want to pay for this yet, because I don't
- 51:55Speaker 2: know what's going to happen, because EA had all this shit,
- 51:56Speaker 2: because the microtransaction stuff was coming along, so anyway, Battlefront
- 51:59Speaker 2: 2 comes out, okay, and it was literally, you had,
- 52:06Speaker 2: it was literally pay to win, you got cards, where
- 52:09Speaker 2: every card, for cards for your character online, would improve
- 52:12Speaker 2: your stats, so of course, instead of just, you know,
- 52:15Speaker 2: earning these cards and the upgrades, you could just pay
- 52:19Speaker 2: to have them fucking upgraded, Which also then led to
- 52:23Speaker 2: you unlocking characters like Darth Vader. Well, essentially, why the
- 52:27Speaker 2: fuck is Darth Vader locked? So, I'm going to read
- 52:30Speaker 2: you the post that was made that led to the
- 52:34Speaker 2: most downvoted post ever on Reddit. So, the post literally was.
- 52:39Speaker 3: It's been too long.
- 52:41Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 52:42Speaker 2: This is one that always gets old. So, the post
- 52:46Speaker 2: starts with... It's in the Star Wars Battlefront Reddit page.
- 52:50Speaker 2: Its title is, Seriously, I Paid $ 80 to Have Vader Locked.
- 52:54Speaker 2: This is a joke. I'll be contacting EA support for
- 52:57Speaker 2: a refund. I can't even fucking, I can't even play,
- 53:02Speaker 2: this is not even, this is how it's spelled, this
- 53:04Speaker 2: is not good grammar. I can't even playing fucking Darth Vader. Disgusting.
- 53:08Speaker 2: This is age of microtransaction has gone way too far.
- 53:12Speaker 2: Leave it to EA, though, to stretch the boundaries. I'm
- 53:15Speaker 2: now going to read you EA's response. Have you ever
- 53:18Speaker 2: heard this before or no? can't remember oh this is
- 53:22Speaker 2: great so gamer gamers will know this because if you
- 53:26Speaker 2: ever heard of the meme pride and accomplishment this is
- 53:29Speaker 2: where it comes from this is ea's response.
- 53:35Speaker 3: Are you ready.
- 53:37Speaker 2: This this is so bad the intent is to provide
- 53:42Speaker 2: players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking
- 53:45Speaker 2: different heroes As for costs, we selected initial values based
- 53:50Speaker 2: upon data from the open beta and other adjustments made
- 53:54Speaker 2: to milestone rewards before launch. Among other things, we're looking
- 53:58Speaker 2: at average per player credit earn rates on a daily basis,
- 54:02Speaker 2: and we'll be making constant adjustments to ensure the players
- 54:06Speaker 2: have challenges that are compelling, rewarding, and of course, attainable
- 54:10Speaker 2: via gameplay. We appreciate... We appreciate the candid feedback and
- 54:26Speaker 2: the passion the community has put forth around the current
- 54:30Speaker 2: topics here on Reddit, our forums, and across numerous social
- 54:35Speaker 2: media outlets. our team will continue to make changes and
- 54:39Speaker 2: monitor community feedback and update everyone as soon and as
- 54:44Speaker 2: often as we can.
- 54:47Speaker 3: That's insane.
- 54:47Speaker 2: Essentially, fuck you, give me money.
- 54:50Speaker 1: Yeah, essentially, we took data from the beta to make
- 54:56Speaker 1: sure that we could squeeze as much money as possible
- 54:59Speaker 1: from you, and we'll continue to fine-tune our pricing structure
- 55:04Speaker 1: to make it as... grading and conniving as possible to
- 55:10Speaker 1: make sure that everything just costs just enough where you
- 55:13Speaker 1: have to make that judgment call of, do I buy
- 55:16Speaker 1: an extra loaf of bread or do I pay for
- 55:19Speaker 1: Darth Vader?
- 55:20Speaker 2: That is what, that is our, that is our, no, no,
- 55:23Speaker 2: do I pay for Darth Vader? Even though I already
- 55:26Speaker 2: paid for the fucking star Wars game with Darth Vader
- 55:29Speaker 2: on the cover.
- 55:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. No. Um, Oh, you are always going to
- 55:34Speaker 1: have to pay for it. There's no way else to
- 55:36Speaker 1: unlock him. And we're going to make sure that the
- 55:41Speaker 1: people that are grinding get fucked over too. Because as
- 55:45Speaker 1: soon as you get enough coins, we're going to either
- 55:47Speaker 1: make it cheaper or make it more expensive. And yeah,
- 55:52Speaker 1: that's a fucked up way to go about it. And
- 55:54Speaker 1: I remember talking about this with you. I'm getting flashbacks
- 55:57Speaker 1: of how shitty it is for people that are actually
- 56:00Speaker 1: working on this game to make it fun and enjoyable. Right.
- 56:03Speaker 2: Because they're actually fans.
- 56:05Speaker 1: They love this shit.
- 56:07Speaker 3: They're actually fans.
- 56:09Speaker 1: Even if they're not fans, they're talented at making games
- 56:11Speaker 1: and they know what they're doing.
- 56:12Speaker 3: They have that skill set.
- 56:13Speaker 1: And then to have this pricing structure thrown on top
- 56:16Speaker 1: of it, that makes the game panned overall and then
- 56:20Speaker 1: people don't end up enjoying it or playing it outright.
- 56:23Speaker 3: And then your work is just squandered.
- 56:25Speaker 1: Because people wanted to make an extra buck. And I
- 56:29Speaker 1: get it at the like if you're a small indie
- 56:32Speaker 1: developer and you or like you're a small studio and
- 56:36Speaker 1: you're you have a tight team and you're making games.
- 56:40Speaker 3: For the love of it and then if people.
- 56:41Speaker 1: Like it that's great like look at a game like
- 56:43Speaker 1: bellatro you know i'm saying like that game blew up
- 56:46Speaker 1: and it was made like you know it was a
- 56:49Speaker 1: small team oh yeah i can't remember if.
- 56:51Speaker 3: It was just one dude like um.
- 56:55Speaker 1: I don't actually know what I'm talking about, but obviously
- 56:57Speaker 1: the small indie game that blew up. It became this
- 57:00Speaker 1: big phenomenon. Those kind of success stories don't happen when
- 57:04Speaker 1: you have companies like.
- 57:06Speaker 3: EA or I don't know. I really don't know as
- 57:10Speaker 3: much as I need to know to talk.
- 57:12Speaker 1: On this, but you have EA making decisions to just
- 57:16Speaker 1: shut down studios like BioWare, for God's sakes, with all
- 57:20Speaker 1: of their history of making incredible RPGs. Yeah. Because it's
- 57:24Speaker 1: just not profitable.
- 57:26Speaker 3: You know?
- 57:27Speaker 2: Well, and, like.
- 57:27Speaker 1: It sucks.
- 57:28Speaker 2: No, it sucks. Because, like, yeah, because BioWare was a
- 57:31Speaker 2: company that made great games like.
- 57:32Speaker 1: The Mass Effect. BioWare had so many good games. Mass Effect,
- 57:35Speaker 1: but even before that, like, Jade Empire.
- 57:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I forgot.
- 57:38Speaker 3: Yeah, fuck. Holy shit.
- 57:39Speaker 1: They made the Star Wars... Talking about Star Wars, the
- 57:42Speaker 1: Knights of the Old Republic. Yeah.
- 57:43Speaker 2: They made.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Yeah, Knights of the Old Republic. They made those RPGs,
- 57:47Speaker 1: and those were, like, before the MMO, the Old Republic...
- 57:51Speaker 1: They made Knights of the Old Republic, and those were
- 57:53Speaker 1: great story-based RPGs. Obviously, the microtransactions weren't a thing, but also,
- 57:58Speaker 1: it wasn't multiplayer. I think that's the biggest thing, the
- 58:01Speaker 1: takeaway of it, is from the multiplayer experience, they got
- 58:06Speaker 1: the microtransactions and shit. And then from there, it's just
- 58:10Speaker 1: become a hellscape.
- 58:11Speaker 2: I think that's why this was the first game where
- 58:16Speaker 2: I'm not gonna say the first game, but this is
- 58:17Speaker 2: like the first major IP game where the fans won
- 58:21Speaker 2: essentially because the backlash was so, okay, the backlash was
- 58:26Speaker 2: so bad, the mouse had to get involved and be like,
- 58:28Speaker 2: stop this shit now, fix this shit. And actually, there's
- 58:32Speaker 2: this YouTuber.
- 58:33Speaker 1: Listen here, fuckers.
- 58:34Speaker 2: Listen here, you fuckers.
- 58:36Speaker 3: Kicks the door down with his big old yellow shoe.
- 58:38Speaker 2: I'm trying to have a nice date with Minnie, and
- 58:39Speaker 2: she's pissed because she keeps getting bombarded by assholes saying
- 58:42Speaker 2: they're ruining her Star Wars game. Are you trying to
- 58:45Speaker 2: fuck me over? Go fuck. Go beat their ass. Well,
- 58:50Speaker 2: there's this YouTuber.
- 58:51Speaker 3: He's a gamer.
- 58:51Speaker 2: Luke Siemens, I like. And he was talking about this
- 58:53Speaker 2: because there's that rumor of Battlefront 3 being made. And essentially,
- 58:56Speaker 2: it was kind of like, Disney was shopping it around,
- 58:59Speaker 2: but allegedly like the EA still has owner, not ownership.
- 59:02Speaker 2: They still have the, like the right to do the game.
- 59:04Speaker 2: So it was pretty much. And the rumor is like,
- 59:06Speaker 2: they either make the new mass effect or they focus
- 59:09Speaker 2: on this and like, well, we know which ones can
- 59:10Speaker 2: make more money.
- 59:11Speaker 1: So we're gonna do this but sorry shepherd yeah sorry
- 59:15Speaker 1: sorry but.
- 59:15Speaker 2: Like and supposedly and dice is supposed to work which
- 59:18Speaker 2: is fine because again if it's anything like battlefront 2
- 59:19Speaker 2: that's great just and it's one that seems okay like
- 59:22Speaker 2: here's the problem okay Because going back to when they
- 59:24Speaker 2: made Battlefront 2 and the Moscow involved, I think because
- 59:28Speaker 2: Luke mentioned it in the video and I actually read
- 59:30Speaker 2: up on it, I believe it was, and I don't
- 59:32Speaker 2: remember the country, but apparently I think it was Belgium
- 59:35Speaker 2: was trying to find a way to actually sue for
- 59:39Speaker 2: a fuck. Because shockingly, you know, hey, fake news, we
- 59:45Speaker 2: take care of our customers. No, bullshit. The EU has insane, wonderful, like,
- 59:51Speaker 2: customer protection laws and shit like that. It's insane.
- 59:55Speaker 1: You seem to be trying to scam the people. You
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: claim to be from a galaxy far, far away.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: That's pretty good.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: But here in Belgium, we do not take kindly to
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: this kind of practices.
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: No. Would you like a bong and a crepe?
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: Smoking a pancake pint in a cigarette i don't even
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: know but that's that's that's a fucking some fans in
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: belgium that's a fucking callback anyway salty um only my
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: dad's gonna get that one but but no and like
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: now it's like okay so here's the problem okay I'm
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: all for DICE making it. I love DICE. Battlefield 6,
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: it wasn't allegedly the final success they wanted to be,
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: but it's a good start because they went back to
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: the old way. They made the game not a bunch
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: of bullshit, not a bunch of Michael Transaction shit.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: It's just here's... They let you shoot a bunch of
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Ewoks in the dark.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: Here's just Battlefield.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: Oh, fuck.
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: The fact that more people don't play that mode pisses
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: me off.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Anyway.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. So the problem is you're going to make
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Battlefront 3, okay? Great. Here's the problem. EA just got purchased.
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: Not going to go buy who. We don't need to
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: go down that road. But there is so much fucking...
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: This is the problem. All these people are buying all
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: these fucking companies and there is so much debt that
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: has to be paid. Don't get me started on the
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: Skydance shit.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: We have to.
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: That's a whole other fucking two-part podcast.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: Excuse me.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: Two-part podcast.
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: Tsunami is going to clear it up, brother. Blue Tsunami.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: But that's what I'm saying.
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: It's like... You're on fake news.
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: You're... Nope.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: But the problem is, it's like, where are they going
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: to get that money back from?
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: All right, sorry.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: Because you cannot do what you did with Battlefront 2 again.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: You can't. Because people are... Because here's the problem. The
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: reason Battlefront 2, quote-unquote, failed, because while it literally had...
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: It actually hit its peak a year ago after Andor
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: came out, in terms of PC gaming. But the problem is,
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: it's like.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: I'm.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Not joking. It's one of my top... 10, maybe five
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: favorite games ever. Hell, fuck, one of the tattoos on
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: my arm. Well, yes, it is part of because of
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: my love for Star Wars. It is literally inspired by
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: fucking Battlefront because you can do those insane... Oh, my God.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: What if the Millennium Falcon fought the fucking... Slave I. Yeah.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: What if a TIE fighter... Fake news.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: It's Boba Fett's starship. We don't call it Slave anymore.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: That shit is probably good for him.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: It's probably good.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: Fake news.
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: But.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: It's a spaceship, guys.
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: Oh, God. Anyway. But the point is, it's like.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: That game could have been so much better. And, like, unfortunately,
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: once they fixed it, the game became phenomenal and great.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: So much fun. But the damage was done, and people said, no,
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: fuck you. Because here's the thing. You have one shot
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: to make a first impression. There's a reason why that
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: statement exists.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: True.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: And you fucked it up. Because you were greedy.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: Like a cyberpunk.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: Fuck. It's been years and years.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: No, the worst tagline, like, in terms of result ever,
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: the game will come out when it's ready. Spoiler alert,
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: it wasn't fucking ready.
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember talking about that specifically.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: It's fun now. It's a great fucking game.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: And they've updated it even further, like, recently.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: No Man's Sky, another great fucking example.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Dude, No Man's Sky. Like, my buddy was
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: showing me on the Switch 2 for, I mean, think of, like,
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: talk about a glow-up Switch 1 to Switch 2. Anyway, um...
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: how you can build your own spaceship yeah and there's
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: like actual like combat too like I mean fucking my
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: wife is playing Harry Potter the legacy Hogwarts Legacy oh
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: hell yeah like that was a crazy first impression but
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: like playing that game and watching her play it like
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: there's so much to do and it's actually the combat
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: too is actually fucking fun like Yeah, first impressions are everything.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: And I think that's... Especially when games are getting to $ 80. Like,
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: when you start talking about $ 80.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: Well, and that's one of those rare games, like Hogwarts Legacy,
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: where it's like, There's no bullshit. The only microtransaction stuff
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: is maybe just like, oh, hey, we'll give you an
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: extra spell perk or cosmetics, which is fine.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, it's been mostly cosmetics and stuff.
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: That's fine, because the problem is they all want the
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: Fortnite month, but you're not going to get that, because
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: here's the thing. Okay, and that's the thing. I love
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: the Helldivers game. The reason why that game is not
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: where it should be or it hit its peak in
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: like two or three months and then it went down
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: is is because you have to pay $ 40 just to
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: play it. Again, I'm not saying these games should be free.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: If you put that much hard work into it, there
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: should be a price. I'm all for that. But then
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: don't fuck me in the end. The reason why everyone
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: plays Fortnite still is because, hey, you want to play this?
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: It's free. If you want to be able to do
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: a battle as Luke fucking Skywalker or Kratos, you have
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: to pay for it. I have Kratos and Mando. The
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Mando one I earned, the Kratos, actually, no, yeah, I
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: think I earned it, I can't remember. The only one
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: I actually paid for was Predator. And the Kratos, I
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: left over credit. So I'm like, yeah, fuck it, cool, sure, yay.
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: And that's it.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: That's it.
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: But there are people who spend all this money on Fortnite,
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: but you know why they can't?
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: Because it was free.
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: It didn't cost them $ 80, $ 60. I can spend.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: $ 5 for a skin and some other shit.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: I can do $ 5.
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: Which is the smart model. And I'm not saying make
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: these games free, but if you're going to do that,
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: there has to be, it's either one or the other.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: It's either you pay up front and you buy Cosmodex on,
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: or it's like, hey, it's free, but if you want
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: to have all these other things to do, you got
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: to pay for it. Okay, fine, whatever, cool.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: I think it's so strange that, it's not strange, but
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: I think it's so interesting that some of the, the
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: biggest games can just be free to play. You know
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: what I'm saying? Yeah.
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: Like, it's insane, actually, to think about it. Because, you know,
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: I think we... At.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: Some point, with all these microtransactions, it's like... We lost
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: track of, like, what makes a game fucking fun to play.
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? Like, if you.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: And there's so many different types of games, but, like,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: going back to, like, what originally brought this up, Skyrim,
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: for God's sakes, like, it is... still to this day,
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: you know, there are still things in Skyrim that I
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: still have never done.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: Same here.
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: Because there's just so much to do.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: Same with any Rockstar game. Sorry, continue.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: And, like, you don't have to pay extra to do it. Like, yeah,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: there's DLCs, but even then, in the base game, there's
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: still so much to do.
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: There's so many quests.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: There's, like, different guilds. There's, like, this whole Civil War storyline.
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: And so, yeah, no.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: Wonder Skyrim 6... is taking forever to fucking make. First
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: of all, they had to relaunch Skyrim seven fucking times,
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: and then they did the Oblivion remaster, and not to
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: mention Starfield, which was this other.
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: Completely full RPG in space.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: I remember Starfield got panned too for whatever reasons, but
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: there were still things about it that were so fucking cool,
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: like flying around on a fucking spaceship that you built yourself.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: See, the problem is, and here's the thing, I haven't
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: played Starfield, but I don't feel like I have, The
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: reason it got panned is because they essentially were promising,
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: not saying No Man's Sky out loud, but they were
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: essentially promising No Man's Sky and more, and Star Wars.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: They were promising a seamless kind of space landing, and
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: that just wasn't possible.
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: A lot of it is just like, if you're going
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: from one planet to another, it's just like a cut scene.
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: It's like, no, I want to be able to do, like,
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: here's the thing. I haven't played the full extent of it,
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: but when Outlaws first came out, the game got panned,
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: not because, I mean, some of the gameplay issues. but
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: also because of a lot of essentially pay-to-play bullshit. They
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: fixed it. I got the $ 150 version for $ 30 because
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: it got to... Right? Again, you don't have to play
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: day one. So all you PC players who are going, fuck,
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: I can't play GTA for two years, you don't have
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: to wait that long.
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: But this Outlaws.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: It's fun because you can do those spaces. Yeah, sure,
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: some of the shit needs some work still. I'm sorry,
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: the fact that you can knock out a person. It's
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: like the sneak attack is you're this girl who, not
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: that she's a badass in the game, I'm not going
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: to deny that, but the way she knocks, she sneaks up.
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: Instead of doing a choke hold or anything like that
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: or do some Batman Arkham shit, she just spins a
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: stormtrooper around and punches him in the face. It's like,
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: wouldn't punching a helmet... fucking hurt your hand like what
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: like unless your hands made of fucking metal like i
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: mean hey in star wars like there's a bunch of
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: fucking yeah people with metal hands no but you don't
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: know that i mean at least i mean as far
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: as i got that's never addressed but anyway point i'm
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: trying to make is it's like you she's a.
- 1:08:49Speaker 5: Robot no it's not no i'm a cybernetic organism the
- 1:08:55Speaker 5: cybernetic organism with metal hands great hair but the you
- 1:09:02Speaker 5: just have to you just make a great game and
- 1:09:05Speaker 5: then you charge what it's worth but you don't here's
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: the thing why is it all the games that everyone
- 1:09:10Speaker 5: loves are the ones that are not greedy.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: The ones that.
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: Everyone talks about, they're like, fuck you, are the ones
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: where it's like, this is obviously you just trying to
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: make a buck. That's all it is.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: That's all it is. People, there's a reason they relaunch
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: Skyrim seven fucking times. Right. Because people buy it. because
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: that game is fucking awesome.
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: And going back to Skyrim, the shit that you've never
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: even looked at, how about when they fucking put the fucking,
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: which was, I can't believe they still did this, when
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: they put the mod thing in the game, where it's like, yeah,
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: you can download created mods. I did the fucking Conan story,
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: and that took like six hours, and it was badass.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: You did?
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: That's fucking sick.
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: Oh, dude, it was great. Now, the fucking, whoever fucking,
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: no offense, I'm sorry, brother, but whoever did the Arnold
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: in that game, in the mod, it wasn't Bethesda.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: They sounded like us, is what you're saying.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: No, it literally... No, no, no, no, no. Patrick... It
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: was worse. No, it sounded like... It's bad.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: Speaking of that, I recently heard about a mod because
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: people are still modding that game where they basically created
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: an Ikea-esque storyline where there's this hidden dwarven fucking store
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: full of everything and you can get a sentient Ikea
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: shelf And I'm kidding you, I shit you not, it's
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: voiced by Matthew Barry.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: Shut the fuck up.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: I'm not even fucking kidding you. From What We Do
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: in the Shadows.
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: Yeah, fuck it. May I approach the bitch? In New
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: York City.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: I fucking love Matthew Barry. I'm not even fucking kidding you.
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: Criminally iterated.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: And I remember playing it on PS4, and even on PS4,
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: the mods that you could get, like... just small tweaks,
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: like improved combat AI, um, adding cloaks, you know, not
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: even just the officially like Bethesda, like approved mods, which
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: were still pretty cool. Then added new weapons, armors, you know,
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: different things like that. But even like lighting packs and,
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: and different shit like that, like new, um, new fucking
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: whole characters with voices, like voice lines and shit. Like it's,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: it's crazy. And, um, you know, that, people take time
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: to do that for fucking free. And it's even crazier
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: on PC. Like, on PC, I could go on, but, like,
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: the UI overhaul, all kinds.
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: Of crazy shit.
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: Like, there's a... I'm watching, actually, a stream of this
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: mod pack called Gates of Sovngarde, which is, like, it drastically, like,
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: improves enemy AI, makes everything, like, a real challenge and struggle,
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: and actually adds a feature where, like, If you don't
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: beat the main storyline and kill Alduin, the dragon boss,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: in 100 days, the world fucking ends because the prophecy
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: becomes true.
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: Yeah, it's fucking crazy.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: Anyway... Those kinds of things, it's all free, right? The
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: community does that because they love the fucking game. Nobody
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: gave a shit about it. Nobody's modding the shit out
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: of Battlefront 2. because they didn't get a chance to
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: love it.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: Right. There are some pretty cool mods out there for
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: Battlefront 2, I've got to say. I'm sure there are.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: But not to the extent of Skyrim or the thing
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: I'm going to talk about here in a second.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: Yes. I don't know if we're going to get to.
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: No, no, it's fine. We've got to get out of
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: here in a minute, because I just realized I've got
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: to do some shit.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: You might have to save it for a slurper.
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: Well, I mean, we have to do it for next week.
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: We'll see if Ghidorah did do nothing wrong. um, before
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: we get out of here. So I always like to,
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: obviously I don't promote stuff cause obviously, unless we're getting paid,
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: which we haven't been yet. Um, I always like to
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: promote good deeds or anything like that. So one thing
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: I want to push, and I have not done play
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: this myself because as clicky cook will tell you, um,
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: you were even Shagzilla. I think I've done one month
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: in my computer, no problem or anything like that. But
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: I'm so like, I don't want my baby to be
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: compromised or anything like that. But, There is a new
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: game that came out recently called Star Wars Fate of
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: the Galaxy. It is free, mind you. It is a
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: fan-made combat game that's been in development since 2007. Okay.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: Star Wars Fate of the Galaxy. And what it is,
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: it's free. I mean, I think you can probably only
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: play it on a computer. But what it is, is
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: they essentially created every single ship. The inside is detailed.
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: And it's just space combat.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: That's all it is.
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: That's all fucking Star Wars fans want. Battlefront 2, the
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: space combat, it's fucking amazing. But it's random because you
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: don't know... I'll take you on a second. Sorry, my
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: dog's going to go out. There's so many different types
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: of ships you can find in Battlefront 2. You don't
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: get that choice. In this game, you do. And the
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: videos for it are insane. But the fact that this
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: game's been in development for 19 fucking years. It's not
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: that hard, people. Anyway, I got to run because my
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: dog's going to go potty.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: Thank you. If they do Battlefront 3, they got to
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: put Bitty Blaze in there.
- 1:14:08Speaker 6: Um og patron thanks for joining us chuck's cantina gmail.com
- 1:14:13Speaker 6: chuck's cantina on your socials i gotta take my dog
- 1:14:16Speaker 6: out to go potty for sorry shuba um if you've
