- 0:00You can turn with me to Acts chapter 6, Acts
- 0:04chapter 6, and I want to share with you this
- 0:10morning a bit of some things that the Lord is
- 0:14putting on my heart for 2026. I was going to
- 0:18preach this message a couple weeks ago. You remember
- 0:22when I preached on the family. And there have
- 0:26been some key words that have been given already
- 0:29this year that if you've missed, you need to
- 0:32go back and listen to. Pastor Cammie, I already
- 0:36said, preached on listening to the Lord last
- 0:41Sunday. That's a message you need to hear. The
- 0:44message on family. God wants to bless your family.
- 0:50You need to hear that word, and so keep that
- 0:53word. close to you. And I believe that 2026 is
- 1:00a year where your family is going to be blessed.
- 1:04Amen? And this word kind of dovetails. It's why
- 1:08I wanted to give it right after last week's word
- 1:13on listening to the Lord. It dovetails with that
- 1:16a little bit. And it's going to be more me just
- 1:20taking you on a journey that the Lord has been
- 1:24showing me about what needs to take place in
- 1:30the church. And the things that God has given
- 1:37to the church are not always easy, but they are
- 1:43usually simple. They are usually easy to understand,
- 1:50although because of this struggle that we have
- 1:54with our own selves. Of course, nobody else here
- 1:58has struggled with their own selves. Am I the
- 2:02only one with my hand up? Come on, put your hand
- 2:04up if you struggle. Make me feel better. Make
- 2:06me feel better. Because of the struggle we have
- 2:09with our own selves, this world that we live
- 2:13in that is seemingly getting crazier and crazier
- 2:17by the day, can all the stuff that we deal with,
- 2:24the stuff of life, the scriptures call them the
- 2:29cares of life, that can choke it out. Because
- 2:33of all these things, it's not easy, but it's
- 2:37simple. And I want to call us as a church this
- 2:41morning. to be overcomers in 2026, and to not
- 2:47just yield to those things and say, oh, well,
- 2:49we'll just let these things slide. We'll just
- 2:53do whatever in 2026. No, we need to put our hand
- 2:58to the plow and not look back and do the things
- 3:03that God has called us to do. And so I was devotionally
- 3:08reading in Acts chapter 6. And I came to this
- 3:16passage, and this is a significant passage. This
- 3:19is when Jesus, or not Jesus, when the apostles
- 3:22first create the space for deacons in the church
- 3:29in Acts chapter 6. And so let's just read from
- 3:33verse 1 and down for a minute. Now in those days
- 3:37when the number of the disciples was multiplying,
- 3:40there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by
- 3:44the Hellenists. So this is the Greeks and the
- 3:49Jews. These are both Jewish groups, but one of
- 3:55them is of Greek descent and the other is of
- 3:59national Israeli descent in the daily distribution.
- 4:06And I read this and I say, you know, I take comfort
- 4:09in it. Because I'm like, there were problems
- 4:13in the first church. It's kind of like when we're
- 4:21at district council and they say, play the video,
- 4:24and the video does not play. I go, oh, praise
- 4:29God. You know, it strangely encourages me. When
- 4:35I see churches that seemingly have it together
- 4:39and something flops major, I go, oh, praise God.
- 4:48And they had problems. And so they came to the
- 4:52apostles with their problems. The apostles were
- 4:55their leaders. And can I just tell you this?
- 4:58It's okay to bring stuff to the leaders of the
- 5:02church. Okay? People that are gossips don't go
- 5:07to the leaders to gossip. People that are trying
- 5:11to cause trouble, they don't come to the leadership.
- 5:15But the leadership is who you're supposed to
- 5:17come to, right? So when you have an issue, when
- 5:21things go wrong, because they do go wrong even
- 5:25in the church, come to the leadership. And that's
- 5:31what they did. And so the leaders did not bat
- 5:34them down. They did not tell them, well, buck
- 5:36it up. They didn't tell them that. They recognized
- 5:40this as a real issue. And it was in this moment
- 5:46that God gave them wisdom on how to deal with
- 5:49it. Verse 2, then the twelve summoned the multitude
- 5:52of the disciples and said, it is not desirable
- 5:56that we should leave the word of God and serve
- 5:59tables. Now they weren't saying in this passage,
- 6:04they weren't saying we're above this. That's
- 6:07not what they were saying. We're too good to
- 6:11serve food. We are so high and mighty, we can't
- 6:16debase ourselves by scrubbing toilets. That's
- 6:22not what they were saying. But what they did
- 6:25recognize is their role. And that their role
- 6:31as apostles, they were so busy. Can you even
- 6:35imagine? There were, at this point in time, probably
- 6:3910 ,000... believers plus. Sometimes those numbers
- 6:44are only the men in those days. There could have
- 6:46been 20, 25 ,000 Christians in this day and 12
- 6:51apostles, and they were meeting in homes. And
- 6:55the apostles every single day, every single day,
- 6:59I'm sure sometimes multiple times per day, were
- 7:02in homes with groups of 30, 40, 50 people teaching
- 7:07the Word of God. It wasn't that they were just
- 7:10preparing. for a sermon on Sunday morning. They
- 7:13were discipling the people every single day and
- 7:17there were only 12 of them. And the church had
- 7:20not yet developed to the point where all the
- 7:22gifts in the body were released. And so they
- 7:26were the main disciplers. And now they have an
- 7:29issue come forward, and they're saying it needs
- 7:33to be met. But if we take our time to feed people,
- 7:38if we take our time to organize this, to get
- 7:41it all together, and to make it happen, then
- 7:44the Word of God that God is using, us to deposit
- 7:49into other people the Word of God will suffer.
- 7:53And they realized their lane, their role. And
- 8:00so here we see the distinction, the first distinction,
- 8:06between what I believe the apostles acting as
- 8:10elders in the church and deacons. And so here,
- 8:16let's see what they say. Therefore, brethren,
- 8:19seek out from among you seven men of good reputation,
- 8:25full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom whom we may
- 8:32appoint over this business. And so these weren't
- 8:36just people that liked to... liked to do things
- 8:42rather than spiritual. They were not people that
- 8:45neglected the spiritual side of life. They were
- 8:49people that were full of the Holy Spirit. They
- 8:52understood the Lord and they had great wisdom.
- 8:58And so they even said, you choose them. We're
- 9:05not even going to appoint them. You choose them.
- 9:10So they all got their ballots out and nominations.
- 9:13Actually, we don't know how they came up with
- 9:16the first seven deacons. Later on in the church,
- 9:21there were deaconesses. Later on, there were
- 9:24women that were deacons and women that served
- 9:27in leadership positions in the church. And so
- 9:30they were full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom.
- 9:34And they chose them. And it goes on. But I want
- 9:38to read verse 4. And when I read this, verse
- 9:414, this is what the Lord captivated me with.
- 9:46But we will give ourselves continually to prayer
- 9:52and to the ministry of the Word. And when I read
- 9:58that, I felt the Lord just speak to me and say
- 10:02that 2026, that he was speaking to me personally,
- 10:06Darren, you need to come back to the place of
- 10:09prayer. And I realized not that I have quit praying,
- 10:13not that I have quit reading and quit studying,
- 10:16but I have, and it might be because I quit doing
- 10:21praying 3 ,000 five times a week. That might
- 10:25have something to do with it, but I felt like
- 10:272025, I drifted away a bit from that strong place
- 10:34of prayer. And that in 2026, that we as a body,
- 10:40now this is speaking about apostles, about elders
- 10:44as their main role, but how many of you would
- 10:47say that God has been, in this first month of
- 10:53the year, speaking to you about your prayer life.
- 10:56Yeah. Yeah. Prayer is such an important, important
- 11:02place in our lives. Prayer was important in the
- 11:09life of Jesus. I have a whole sheet that I might
- 11:12print and distribute concerning prayer and Jesus'
- 11:18life. It's fascinating as you read the Scriptures,
- 11:22especially the book of Luke. Luke seems to capture
- 11:25the prayer life of Jesus more than any other
- 11:28of the Gospels. But Jesus is constantly finding
- 11:33a place to spend time with the Father. And one
- 11:39of those verses in Matthew chapter 14, I want
- 11:42to read. And this is right after the feeding
- 11:48of the 5 ,000, Matthew 14. There's thousands
- 11:52and thousands of people that Jesus is ministering
- 11:56to. He gets this loaf, two loaves of bread, a
- 11:59couple fish, and he breaks them and gives thanks
- 12:03to God. gives them to the disciples, and in the
- 12:09hands of the disciples, as they are distributing
- 12:12the fish and the bread, multiplication happens,
- 12:15and thousands and thousands and thousands of
- 12:18people are fed. He's been teaching all day. He
- 12:22sees this miracle happen, and it's pretty awesome.
- 12:29And so they were all filled. They took up 12
- 12:32basketfuls of fragments afterwards. And just
- 12:37an incredible time together. And then verse 22
- 12:42comes. Immediately Jesus made his disciples get
- 12:47into the boat and go before him to the other
- 12:50side while he sent the multitudes away. And when
- 12:55he had sent the multitudes away, he went up by
- 13:00the mountain, to the mountain by himself to pray.
- 13:08He went up on the mountain by himself to pray.
- 13:16And the story goes on, and there's another awesome
- 13:19story that happens after that. But sandwiched
- 13:23in between them, Jesus got alone with God to
- 13:31pray. And then I begin to think about the different
- 13:42times where we're called to pray. Jesus taught
- 13:46on the Sermon on the Mount, flipping back a few
- 13:48chapters in Matthew to Matthew 6. And I shared
- 13:52a couple of weeks ago that I believe that this
- 13:55is the single most important Scripture for Christians
- 14:00in 2026. Matthew 6, verse 6. In fact, I think
- 14:11we should just all memorize it right now. Everybody
- 14:15turn to Matthew chapter 6, verse 6. Turn there,
- 14:19and we're going to read it together out loud.
- 14:24We're going to lift it up with one voice. Well,
- 14:30if you have the New King James Version. If you
- 14:32don't have the New King James Version, you can
- 14:34kind of mumble along with me when the words are
- 14:37a little bit different. But let's read it together.
- 14:42when you pray, go into your room, and when you
- 14:47have shut your door, pray to your Father who
- 14:52is in the secret place, and your Father who sees
- 14:57in secret will reward you openly. Now, I know
- 15:03that to memorize something, you've got to read
- 15:06it more than once, and so let's read it again.
- 15:10But you, When you pray, go into your room. And
- 15:16when you have shut your door, pray to your Father
- 15:20who is in the secret place. And your Father who
- 15:24sees in secret will reward you openly. This is
- 15:31a powerful, powerful promise. It's one of those
- 15:36promises that is dependent upon obedience. The
- 15:43open reward of the Father will not come unless
- 15:49you fulfill the first part. And I believe that
- 15:55this call, Jesus is not here talking to elders
- 16:01and apostles. He's talking to us all. And I believe
- 16:07that the enemy above all, Tries to keep this
- 16:13verse from being fulfilled on a day -by -day
- 16:17basis. I believe that this is one of the hardest
- 16:37verses for the... Church to live out. But I also
- 16:44believe that it is the greatest call to any believer
- 16:53is to get alone with God and pray. Now, there's
- 17:02all different kinds of prayer. There are secrets
- 17:07to learning prayer. Dick Eastman's prayer wheel.
- 17:14The hour that changes the world. That's the book
- 17:17he wrote. Dick Eastman put a prayer wheel together
- 17:21and it tells you how to spend five minutes in
- 17:24each. spoke of the wheel in praise, in reading
- 17:29scripture, in asking for needs, in listening
- 17:34to the Lord. It has 12 different spokes and it
- 17:38ends with praise, starts with praise and ends
- 17:41with praise. And if we spend five minutes in
- 17:44each of those spokes, we'll have spent an hour
- 17:47in prayer. It's a really wonderful, wonderful
- 17:50tool to teach you how to pray. But more than
- 17:55the formula of how you pray, is that you pray.
- 18:01Is that you spend time with God. Amen? Spend
- 18:09time with the Lord. And Jesus says, go into your
- 18:15room. Shut the door. Shut the door. And what
- 18:20He's saying is, Get alone with God. If He was
- 18:30in our culture today, what might He say? Everybody's
- 18:37saying the same thing. Turn off your cell phone.
- 18:40Because this is the number one distraction in
- 18:45my life. Is it the number one distraction in
- 18:48your life? If it is, raise your hand. Okay, most
- 18:52of you have your hand raised up. The number one
- 18:55distraction right here. That's what he's saying.
- 19:00Shut the door. Be alone with God. And friends,
- 19:06when you first start, if you've never shut the
- 19:09door, and if you've never spent time alone with
- 19:12God, you will shut the door and you'll sit down
- 19:16and you'll say, Lord, I thank you for this day.
- 19:19And then after that, you'll be like, and what
- 19:23do I say now? But I want to encourage you that
- 19:29the journey of learning how to pray is worth
- 19:34it. And the journey of learning to spend time
- 19:38with God. will help you. It's there in the alone
- 19:43time with God that He will bring conviction to
- 19:47you when you need to repent and turn back to
- 19:49God. It's there in alone time with God that He
- 19:52will speak to your heart direction that you need
- 19:55for your life. It is there in the alone time
- 19:58with God that He will unlock the keys that you
- 20:01need and give you the wisdom that you need to
- 20:04solve problems. It is that alone time with God
- 20:08that ultimately isn't about your own life, but
- 20:11it changes and shapes nations. Alone time with
- 20:16God changes the course of nations because we
- 20:21spend time with the Lord. When the disciples,
- 20:26when they asked Jesus to teach them how to do
- 20:32something, They did not ask Jesus to teach them
- 20:39how to preach. I believe that Jesus was a good
- 20:44communicator. And people sat on the edge of their
- 20:49seats and they even commented, they said, you
- 20:52teach like one with authority. You teach like
- 20:56with... Somebody that has substance behind what
- 21:00they're saying, not like what we've heard our
- 21:02whole lives in the synagogue. And they were captivated
- 21:07by how he taught and how he preached to the multitudes,
- 21:11but the disciples did not say, teach us how to
- 21:14preach. Jesus did miracles, which the disciples
- 21:20also did, but could not do them all. In fact,
- 21:23failed on at least one of them. But the disciples,
- 21:27their question in this moment was not, teach
- 21:33us the supernatural. But we need to learn the
- 21:37supernatural. Their question was, Jesus, teach
- 21:43us how to pray. Teach us how to pray. Teach us
- 21:50how to pray. In the Garden of Gethsemane, If
- 21:56you'll go there in Matthew chapter 26. Matthew
- 22:0126 and verse 40. And Jesus, he brought Peter,
- 22:07James, and John, and he was in the garden of
- 22:10Gethsemane. This is the night before his arrest,
- 22:13the night before he went to the cross. And he
- 22:16takes them in the garden so that he can pray.
- 22:20And he wants to be alone with the Father, but
- 22:22not totally alone. And so he brings the three,
- 22:25and he puts them here. And the Bible says he
- 22:28moves a stone's throw away. What is that? About
- 22:3150 yards away. Carter and David and I were at
- 22:37a campsite, and we found out how far a stone's
- 22:40throw was. And I threw with all my might, but
- 22:44I could not hit the other side. I was two feet
- 22:47away, and my arm was sore. I don't know why I
- 22:53told you that story. But they were a stone's
- 22:57throw away, and Jesus is there praying. And in
- 23:02verse 40 it says, lest you enter into temptation.
- 23:20And just as a side note, we see here the single
- 23:26greatest key, I believe, to overcoming temptation.
- 23:31Like if you have a besetting sin and temptation
- 23:34keeps coming your way, the number one way to
- 23:38get strength to overcome that temptation, watch
- 23:42and pray. Learn how to pray. Well, don't I need
- 23:47to learn how to resist and say no? Well, there
- 23:50might be some keys to that. But the first key
- 23:53is to give yourself to prayer. Amen? Amen. And
- 24:00so if you find yourself, you know, constantly
- 24:02tripping over sin, learn how to pray. Watch and
- 24:08pray so that you don't enter into temptation.
- 24:13told them, couldn't you? You're my disciples.
- 24:16Couldn't you even stay awake and pray with me
- 24:19for one hour? And for some of us, an hour of
- 24:23prayer seems very daunting. And this is not saying
- 24:28that if you can't pray an hour, you're a failure.
- 24:31But I do think that time with God, that we need
- 24:36to be challenged in that. And so I just want
- 24:40to challenge every one of you, grow in 2026 in
- 24:44your prayer life. Amen? Grow in your prayer life.
- 24:49The Father who sees what is done in secret will
- 24:56reward you openly. Now it's right to bring your
- 25:01needs to the pastors, to the elders. It's right
- 25:04to have them anoint you with oil and pray over
- 25:07you. James chapter 5 says if anybody's sick,
- 25:09let them come to the elders of the church. In
- 25:12fact, it's an act of faith. The Bible says come
- 25:15to the elders of the church. You can make a phone
- 25:18call. You can text. Now, you couldn't do that
- 25:22in Jesus' day, but you can do that now. And then
- 25:25you can come down to the altar after church and
- 25:27say, Pastor, pray over me. All those things are
- 25:30good and all those things are important, but
- 25:34may those things not be in lieu or instead of
- 25:39you going to your father in the prayer closet.
- 25:44Because your trust is never, even though you
- 25:48come to your elders, even though you're anointed
- 25:52with oil, your trust is not in people. Your trust
- 25:58is in God. Amen? And so when you have a need,
- 26:02where should you go? Hebrews says this. Hebrews
- 26:06says that we should come boldly to the throne
- 26:10of grace. That's the secret place. That's the
- 26:13place where God wants to meet you so that you
- 26:16can find help in your time of need. Hallelujah.
- 26:23Somebody give praise to the Lord. And so you
- 26:26have problems at work. Do you know what you need
- 26:28to do? You need to bring them to the Father in
- 26:31your prayer closet. You have problems in your
- 26:33home. You know what you need to do? You need
- 26:35to bring them to the Father in the prayer closet.
- 26:37You have problems with your kids. Then you know
- 26:40what you need to do? You need to bring it to
- 26:42the Father in the prayer closet. You have problems.
- 26:46Maybe you're in a blended family now and you
- 26:48have problems with people that you used to be
- 26:51in relationship. You know what you need to do?
- 26:53You need to bring that to the Father. in your
- 26:56prayer closet because the Father sees what is
- 27:01done in secret. This is true for young people.
- 27:06You have a problem with somebody at school. You
- 27:10have a problem with your teacher. You have a
- 27:12problem with other students. Do you know what
- 27:14you can do? You can bring it to the Father in
- 27:18your prayer closet. And the Father... who sees
- 27:23what is done in secret, will reward you openly.
- 27:30Now Jesus told the disciples in this passage,
- 27:35watch and pray. Watch and pray. That doesn't
- 27:43sound like somebody that is just sitting in a
- 27:50chair. That's right. Watch and pray. There's
- 28:07a vibrance to that. Watch and pray. Watch and
- 28:16pray. We need to apply this to the news that
- 28:21we take in. We watch. We need to pray. The world
- 28:30is watching. I think sometimes, depending on
- 28:39your news source, just believe whatever slant
- 28:44comes from the news source. You can't do that.
- 28:49But when you digest what is happening, then what
- 28:54do you do? You've got to pray. We can't afford
- 29:02to just be people that have opinions like the
- 29:07rest of America. We can't just choose a side
- 29:14and then get angry with that side. are the watchers,
- 29:23and we are the intercessors. Do you know who
- 29:28history belongs to? The people that pray. Do
- 29:34you know why we won World War II? There were
- 29:38soldiers on the front line, and there were intercessors
- 29:41praying at home. World War I is documented that
- 29:49where intercessors prayed, Things happened on
- 29:53the battlefield. I can show you. Intercessors
- 30:00own history. People that pray. And so as you
- 30:08engage in America, engage in your prayer closet.
- 30:14Go into the secret place. Father, I lift up Minneapolis
- 30:18to you right now. Father, I'm just asking you
- 30:22that you would work and move in Minneapolis.
- 30:25In fact, let's all just pray right now. Let's
- 30:28just engage as if you're in the prayer closet
- 30:30right now in Jesus' name. Father, we ask in the
- 30:34name of Jesus that your hand would be on church
- 30:37leaders in Minneapolis. This morning, even as
- 30:40they're worshiping you, I pray that your presence
- 30:42would be made manifest amongst the believers.
- 30:45I pray that there would be a distinction between
- 30:48believers and people in the world. I pray your
- 30:50presence, oh God, will minister right now. God,
- 30:54I'm asking you that families, Lord, in Jesus'
- 30:57name, that their needs will be met in the name
- 30:59of the Lord. And I'm asking you that no matter
- 31:02what person, God, whether they're immigrants
- 31:08or whether they're being dealt with as illegal
- 31:11immigrants, God, whatever person, they are all
- 31:15made in the image of God. And I pray in Jesus'
- 31:18name that Your hand would be on their journey
- 31:22and that they would come to know Christ as their
- 31:24Savior. In Jesus' mighty name. God, we bind up
- 31:29demonic activity over that city that would do
- 31:34what the devil does. He steals. He kills. He
- 31:37destroys. And the instruments that are being
- 31:39used by the enemy, whether they realize it or
- 31:42not, we pray that they would come unto repentance
- 31:45in Jesus' mighty name. Hallelujah. I believe
- 31:51that it's God's will. friend, that revival break
- 31:54out in Minneapolis. I believe that Minneapolis
- 31:58needs to be a city that is known for the moving
- 32:02of the Holy Spirit and not just a city known
- 32:05for conflict like it has for the last five or
- 32:09six years. We are watchers and we are prayers.
- 32:16Hallelujah. Turn with me to Luke chapter 21.
- 32:21This is concerning the second coming of Christ.
- 32:32This is the words of Jesus. Verse 34. But take
- 32:39heed to yourselves. Everybody say that together.
- 32:43But take heed to yourselves. Lest your hearts
- 32:49be weighed down. With carousing, with drunkenness
- 32:53in the cares of this life. There it is. And that
- 32:58day, that's talking about the return of Christ.
- 33:02And that day come on you unexpectedly. For it
- 33:07will come as a snare on all those who dwell on
- 33:10the face of the whole earth. Wow. Wow. And you
- 33:15think about the world right now. Do you think
- 33:17it's ready for the return of Christ? It is not.
- 33:21But you take heed. You take heed. Watch, therefore,
- 33:29and pray. There's that phrase. Watch and pray.
- 33:36Always that you may be counted worthy to escape
- 33:43all these things that will come to pass. And
- 33:48to stand before the Son of Man. Wow. That if
- 33:56you watch and pray, if you go into the prayer
- 33:59closet, that God will count you worthy to escape
- 34:07the judgments that will come upon mankind. And
- 34:15to stand in that day. before the Son of Man.
- 34:21This life, what is it? It's a rehearsal for that
- 34:24life that is to come. You're going to stand before
- 34:29God one day. I think about it every day. I am
- 34:34going to stand before Jesus and give an account.
- 34:38And Jesus says, if you'll be a person that will
- 34:44do this, that will watch and pray, Make... Prayer,
- 34:50a part of your life. Make the secret place a
- 34:53part of your routine. If you will be one that
- 34:57will watch and pray, He will count you worthy
- 35:00to escape the judgment coming on the world. And
- 35:04you, when you stand before God, won't try to
- 35:07run and hide. You won't be ashamed in that day.
- 35:12But you will be able somehow to stand before
- 35:16the Lord in that day Receive the reward that
- 35:20He has for you. Hallelujah. That's good news.
- 35:26That's good news. For people that will watch
- 35:32and pray. For people that will go in to the secret
- 35:41place. Favor. Favor. referring to this passage.
- 35:54I just feel like it's time to conclude here.
- 35:59I've got a bunch of other scriptures here, but
- 36:01I'm going to go to the last one. And I've been
- 36:04turning to this passage quite a bit lately. And
- 36:10it's in 1 Peter 4. And I've already read it publicly
- 36:14a couple weeks ago. I think it's an important
- 36:21passage, 1 Peter 4, 7. And it says this, But
- 36:31the end of all things is at hand. Therefore,
- 36:39be serious and watchful in your prayers. It goes
- 36:49on to say, and above all things, have fervent
- 36:51love for one another. But that first part is
- 36:56what we're talking about right now. It says,
- 37:02therefore, be serious and watchful in your prayers.
- 37:13Be serious and watchful in your prayers. This
- 37:18year is going to be a year for us as a church
- 37:20to grow in prayer. I'm talking here today about
- 37:25your personal prayer. Pastor Cammie preached
- 37:28last week as well on your personal prayer, listening
- 37:31to God. And the scriptures talk about corporate
- 37:38gatherings. It's why we meet on Sunday morning.
- 37:41This is the Lord's Day. Sunday is the Lord's
- 37:44day because it's the day Jesus rose from the
- 37:46dead. The believers gathered together. And all
- 37:49through the scriptures, you see corporate prayer
- 37:51meetings and we're called to corporately pray.
- 37:53And what I'm telling you that in 2026, we are
- 37:58going to be growing as a body in corporate prayer.
- 38:02It is also essential. But corporate prayer is
- 38:07fanned into flame. when the people that are a
- 38:11part of it have been maintaining their secret
- 38:15place. Private prayer makes corporate prayer
- 38:24powerful. Sometimes when you go to pray and you
- 38:33get done, And the Bible says when Jesus finished
- 38:37praying, there was a time when he concluded that
- 38:40moment of prayer. He was still connected to the
- 38:43Father, but he finished praying. And sometimes
- 38:47when we finish praying, we go, well, that wasn't
- 38:51all that powerful. God didn't really say much
- 38:55to me today. I didn't even understand the Scripture
- 39:00I read. But I'm telling you that there is way
- 39:05more happening than what you know. Sometimes
- 39:09God reveals what's happening when we pray, and
- 39:15we love that. But oftentimes He does not. But
- 39:20your faithfulness to the secret place changes
- 39:26the world in which we live. And God has his hand
- 39:32upon this church to be a church that prays. The
- 39:38third weekend of February, we have a gentleman
- 39:41by the name of Travis Rosenthal coming. On that
- 39:46Saturday night, we're going to be gathering people
- 39:49that just have a heart to pray. Saturday night,
- 39:536 p .m., I believe it's the 21st or the 22nd,
- 39:5721st of February. Travis Rosenthal is a young
- 40:01man. He's 27. He might be 28 now. I don't know.
- 40:05But he's a young man, and he's a home missionary.
- 40:09He's raised support so that he can be a part
- 40:12of the Assemblies of God World Prayer Center
- 40:14in Springfield, Missouri. And just talking with
- 40:20him, I can sense, like they said of the disciples
- 40:25in Acts chapter 3, They took note that they had
- 40:29been with Jesus. And when I was talking with
- 40:34Travis, I can tell this man has been in the presence
- 40:39of Jesus. And I believe that God is going to
- 40:42do something on that weekend in the area of helping
- 40:45us to grow as a body in this area of corporate
- 40:49prayer. And so we can expect that in 2026 for
- 40:56that to happen. What I want to call for this
- 40:59morning, those of you at home, those of you here,
- 41:02is for you to come before the Lord and say, God,
- 41:09this year I want to grow with intentionality,
- 41:14with purpose. I want to grow. In my secret place,
- 41:23time. I want 2026 to be a year where I gained
- 41:31more discipline. Some people, that's what they
- 41:37need. That's what I need. Gain more discipline
- 41:43in how you spend the moments of your day. For
- 41:49some of us, it's... turning something off. For
- 41:55some of us, it's getting up earlier. Perhaps
- 42:02your schedule denotes you stay up later. But
- 42:09we purpose in 2026 to say, God, I want my prayer
- 42:17life to grow. The greatest thing fathers can
- 42:21do for their family, pray. Spend time with God.
- 42:27The greatest thing mothers can do for their children,
- 42:31pray. Spend time with God. Spouses, the greatest
- 42:40thing you can do for each other, maintain your
- 42:43personal prayer life. Everything else will grow
- 42:48out of that. Give yourself to prayer. Hallelujah.
- 42:59Hallelujah. This is a real altar moment of us
- 43:06saying, God, here I am. Perhaps you need to come
- 43:08with humility and just say, Lord, I know I've
- 43:12failed in my secret place time. It hasn't been
- 43:16a part of my life. Perhaps you need to just make
- 43:21that confession to the Lord. But will you come
- 43:25before Him? He's not saying, oh, because you
- 43:28have not been great at this in the past, I'm
- 43:31pushing you away. No, that's not the heart of
- 43:34our Father. He's saying, come on, son. Come on,
- 43:38daughter. I will teach you if you will come.
- 43:46Will you come? Will you come before the Lord?
- 43:51I want to encourage you to just bow your head,
- 43:53just close your eyes, whatever you need to do,
- 43:56and just talk to the Lord right now. Just say,
- 44:01God, I want you to have your way in my heart
- 44:06and in my life. I want the secret place, God.
- 44:16To be real in my home. To be real in my family.
- 44:26To be real in my personal life. Here I am, God.
- 44:36I give myself to you. Help me, God, to embrace
- 44:41that which might feel a bit uncomfortable at
- 44:45first. Help me embrace. Help me embrace the command
- 44:55of God. Jesus, you said it, the promise. And
- 45:03if I'll go into the secret place and I'll shut
- 45:06the door and I'll engage with my Heavenly Father,
- 45:11that my Heavenly Father will reward me openly.
- 45:23God, I just say yes to you. This is a consecration
- 45:30moment. That whatever else I do in my day, all
- 45:37the getting that I give myself to, get to work,
- 45:43get to the grocery store, get to this appointment,
- 45:47get to that appointment, then in all of my getting,
- 45:54I will get to this secret place. In all of my
- 46:04imperfections aside, I will come before my Father
- 46:10and I will say, God, Here I am. Here I am. I
- 46:31want to know you. I want to know you. And the
- 46:38secret in the quiet place. In the stillness you,
- 46:50you are there In the secret, in the quiet hour
- 47:02I wait only for you Cause I want to know, know
- 47:11you more to know I want to hear your voice to
- 47:28know Jesus I want to touch to see your face to
- 47:46know If this is your heart, I'd like you to stand
- 47:50with me as we sing verse two. I am reaching the
- 47:56highest goal. And I might receive the prize.
- 48:08Running after you, oh God. I sing onward, pushing
- 48:13every hindrance aside. my way cuz I want to I
- 49:21want to touch you. I want to see your face. I
- 49:28want to know you more. that do that religious
- 49:49thing and then go on with their day. But Lord,
- 49:54you did not go to the cross to start a religion.
- 49:58You went to the cross so that we could know you.
- 50:04And I'm asking you, Lord Jesus, that you would
- 50:07help us in 2026 to take on that mantle. God,
- 50:13I want to know you. Jesus, some of us have people
- 50:21in our families that knew you that we respect.
- 50:27There's something about them, a quality about
- 50:30them. And now you're knocking on the door of
- 50:33my heart. And you're saying, son, you're saying,
- 50:38daughter, I want to know you. God, I pray for
- 50:47courage to do the practical things in the next
- 50:5424 hours to make room for time alone with God.
- 51:04Here we are. Just present yourself to the Lord
- 51:08right now. Just say, God, here I am. Here I am.
- 51:21Jesus, Jesus, I want to know you. I want to know
- 51:29you. Thank you, Lord.
