- 0:14Is The Predator's official podcast with Cara Hammer and Max
- 0:18hers? Santos left circle Rooster his
- 0:21scores. On one O 2 five and one O 6
- 0:24three. The game at
- 0:26nashvillepredators.com. This is the predators official
- 0:31podcast here on ESPN. One O 2 five and one O 6 three.
- 0:35The game. My name is Max.
- 0:37Hers from preds radio joined by Kara hammer from predators TV.
- 0:42First episode back after the Four Nations face off.
- 0:46Hello Hammer. What's that, Max?
- 0:49I feel like the last time we recorded a podcast, you gave
- 0:52your prediction on how you felt the Four Nations would go, would
- 0:57go, and I felt like you weren't very confident in Canada yet.
- 1:01Our neighbors to the north, Max, they heard you.
- 1:07Yeah, I Am I to blame for all of this I hadn't even thought
- 1:11about. Somebody to blame, right?
- 1:13Like. All right, I guess I'll take the
- 1:16blame. Yeah, I didn't have Canada in
- 1:18the final. I had USA over Sweden and it
- 1:21really wasn't that far away from actually that being the outcome,
- 1:24right. If Canada had won their game in
- 1:27overtime on Monday against Finland, a game that Mikhail
- 1:33Gramblin almost single handedly sent to overtime, that one point
- 1:38difference would have made my final correct.
- 1:41So I was close and if we're going to call each other out,
- 1:46you said you didn't think the players were even going to try.
- 1:50I said I felt like if they won the first game they were going
- 1:53to try. If they lost the first game,
- 1:56then we might see, you know, maybe mail it in a little bit
- 2:00and go enjoy the rest of the Four Nations break.
- 2:03I was wrong, Max. I will take it.
- 2:05I will take the blame that I was wrong.
- 2:06The players came out, they played their hardest.
- 2:09When you look at that three on three overtime hockey, that was
- 2:12some of the fastest skating I have ever seen.
- 2:15And I'm not the only person to say this.
- 2:16Numerous NHL people have made this comment as well.
- 2:20Even Bruno talked about the speed that we saw from the
- 2:23players during the Four Nations face off.
- 2:25Yeah, it was awesome and the Preds showed well in it despite
- 2:28not having anybody who made the finals.
- 2:30Gus Nyquist had a goal for Team Sweden against Team USA in their
- 2:35final game. Philip Forsberg, playing top
- 2:38line minutes for Sweden and UC Soros after losing his first
- 2:42start and sitting out the next game, came back in and relief of
- 2:46Kevin Lanken and was in goal pitching a relief shut out for
- 2:50that finished comeback that nearly took Canada the distance.
- 2:53How much fun were you having rooting for Team Sweden when you
- 2:57looked at all of the players on the team?
- 2:58Obviously we we were rooting for Phil and Gus, but then you got
- 3:01Echo and you have Arvidsen and it was a little bit of nostalgia
- 3:04out there of like, Oh my gosh, I know more players for Sweden and
- 3:08I am all in on this team right now.
- 3:11Well, the colors match up too, so it's.
- 3:13It's easy to be a Preds fan and like the Swedes, that's for.
- 3:16Sure, and they're so nice. The sweets are so nice.
- 3:20It was a fun tournament to watch and to have our guys be a part
- 3:23of. So what a massive, massive
- 3:26success story for the NHL, and I think it's birthed a new era of
- 3:30international hockey. Obviously the Olympics next year
- 3:33will be the first step of that, but they'll be a World Cup of
- 3:35Hockey hosted by the NHL in 2028.
- 3:40And then you think you do everything in your power to get
- 3:45these USA and Canada All Star teams playing each other at
- 3:48least once a season at some point.
- 3:50That's what they said. Somebody said maybe it's just a
- 3:52border war almost where it's Canada versus USA plane.
- 3:56We saw the rivalry. I mean, how amazing was that
- 4:00game at the Bell Center? You're in the Mecca of hockey in
- 4:03Canada. People are booing the anthem.
- 4:06I mean, that game had everything you would want for a rivalry and
- 4:11the players showed out. It was amazing.
- 4:14And you look at, you know, the three fights right away.
- 4:17The Kachuck brothers, obviously, I'm sure their franchises aren't
- 4:21pleased right now that some of the guys have returned injured
- 4:24and not currently playing as the NHL season resumes.
- 4:27But for what it did to the league Max, I think, what did
- 4:31they say? 9.3 million people were tuned
- 4:33into the final game. This is the best thing that's
- 4:35happened to the sport of hockey since I can recall being a fan.
- 4:40And we just keep it going down the stretch here this regular
- 4:43season. Final third of the regular
- 4:45season is underway for the Preds after the two week break for the
- 4:47Four Nations face off as we record here on Wednesday,
- 4:51February 26th. The Predators are one and two
- 4:55since recording returning from the break.
- 4:57They beat the Colorado Avalanche 21 on Saturday, lost 5 nothing
- 5:02to the New Jersey Devils on Sunday and then 41 to the
- 5:06Panthers on Tuesday. All three of those losses on
- 5:09home ice, part of a four-game home stand right out of the
- 5:12break and a busy schedule for the Preds.
- 5:14They have more game days than off days over their first 2 1/2
- 5:17weeks back in action. How inspired were you on
- 5:20Saturday night and that win against the Avalanche?
- 5:23Colorado comes into it. Nathan McKinnon, Kale Mccarr.
- 5:26Devon Taves all had played in the Four Nations face off.
- 5:29The Predators were well rested. They had a practice during the
- 5:33week where they had focused on coming into that game with the
- 5:36defensive mindset Max. It was evident they came out,
- 5:39they played inspired hockey, They looked like a team ready to
- 5:42pull some wins together after the break and it was a great way
- 5:46to start the back-to-back. I was feeling confident, I was
- 5:48feeling good and then everything just kind of collapsed again on
- 5:53Sunday night. Yeah, one strong showing, 2 poor
- 5:56showings for the Preds. We'll start with that win
- 5:58against the Avalanche on Saturday, February 22nd.
- 6:02Preds went down 1 nothing a minute 15 into the second
- 6:06period, but then immediately answered on the next shift.
- 6:09It was the 4th line generating the goal.
- 6:11They've generated two of the three Preds goals since the Four
- 6:15Nations break. Cole Smith, the screen in front,
- 6:18Colton Sissons, the primary assist, Justin Baron, a slapper
- 6:21from the point that went through traffic.
- 6:23And then? I, I can't say enough about this
- 6:25fourth line. I, I spoke with Bruno about it
- 6:27after Thursday or Tuesday night's loss to the Panthers
- 6:31about the fourth line, how well they've been playing, He said we
- 6:33need those guys to drive the game and that's exactly what
- 6:36they're doing. So, you know, credit to them
- 6:39for, for picking up some assist on Baron's goal.
- 6:41And shout out to Michael McCarron for finally getting
- 6:44rewarded in the game against the Panthers, netting one to start
- 6:48the third period. Big minutes for those guys, as
- 6:50usual. So Baron scores the game tying
- 6:53goal just 30 seconds after the Preds went down 1.
- 6:56Nothing. That was a big game for Justin
- 6:58Baron. He was drafted in the first
- 6:59round by the Avalanche, then traded away the year.
- 7:03They went on to win the Cup as the big prospect piece traded to
- 7:05the Canadians for Arturi Lekkinen.
- 7:07He played two NHL games for the AVS and it was his first time
- 7:12facing them. Just they trade him away.
- 7:14A Justin Baron revenge game. Justin Baron revenge game.
- 7:17I thought he played really well. I thought it may have been his
- 7:19best game as a Pred. Got his third goal in 19 games
- 7:22for Nashville since being acquired from the Canadians in
- 7:25December and he also had a new partner who was also a former AB
- 7:29Andreas Anglin made his Preds debut.
- 7:31We talked about England last week.
- 7:33Big, physical left-handed defenseman and he was pulling
- 7:36guys out of the pile and defending his partner, as Baron
- 7:40said he did for him in the AHL when they played together for
- 7:43the Colorado Eagles. Yeah, they came in, they said it
- 7:46was nice to be paired up together.
- 7:48They had a lot of chemistry. I think it it was evident
- 7:51talking with them that it just carried over.
- 7:53It felt like they hadn't missed a beat.
- 7:56So they showed well as the third pair for the Preds 11 game going
- 8:00to the third period when the Predators took their first lead
- 8:03of the night halfway through the 3rd.
- 8:07Got around Forsberg back to the Nashville zone.
- 8:11Shen for Marchiso. Marchiso swings it over to his
- 8:15left. Here's Roman Yossi back for
- 8:17Shen. Chuck misses.
- 8:18Marchiso scores on the rebound off the end board.
- 8:24Marchiso picks it up off the end board.
- 8:26The Predators have their first lead of the game.
- 8:30It's 2/1. So there's that hometown bounce
- 8:34off the Zamboni doors again. See, we've seen a couple times
- 8:38this year Shen shoots that fuck just wide of the net and it
- 8:43comes right out the opposite side of the net right to
- 8:47Marshall. So he gathers that on his
- 8:48backhand and pulls it and puts it in that open net.
- 8:52He didn't have much time to put it in, but no, it comes off
- 8:56those back boards hard. He's able to corral it and just
- 9:01dish it in and. You heard it on Preds radio, the
- 9:05eventual game-winning goal by Jonathan Marshiso, assisted by
- 9:09Luke Shen and Roman Yosi. Luke Shen did admit he was
- 9:13trying to put a shot on goal there Kara, but the miss worked
- 9:16out quite well. It played out well for him and
- 9:19Max. Nobody, nobody hates those in
- 9:22boards more than the Colorado Avalanche broadcasters.
- 9:25I'm pulling up a tweet right now.
- 9:27Give me a moment to find it. About how many times the boards
- 9:32at Bridgestone Arena have played in the favor of the Predators
- 9:38versus the Avalanche? And while you do that, we will
- 9:40play the big save by UC Soros that sealed the win against the
- 9:44ABS and Team Canada Stars. Going rink wide, the Nate Dogg.
- 9:49It's all hail kale and the Juice man says no goals.
- 9:54Rebound gotten back by McKinnon. He takes the pass back, gives it
- 9:59off to the right side and Saros makes a huge stop on Kale Makar
- 10:04from the right circle. Makar was wide open with six
- 10:08minutes left in the game down a goal and then the AVS pulled
- 10:11their goalie to even things up late in the game and Roman Yossi
- 10:16had one final shot block on Makar to seal A21 Preds win over
- 10:19the AVS on Saturday. I think my favorite comment.
- 10:24Not all rinks are created equal. That stupid rink that that one
- 10:33came from two years ago. This one, this one.
- 10:36Tonight, the in boards strike again.
- 10:40We'll take it, Max, we'll take it.
- 10:41I love it. UC Soros 31 saves certainly the
- 10:45number one star as the Predators win their first game back from
- 10:47break 21 over the ABS on Saturday night in Smashville.
- 10:52The homestand continued on Sunday with a lopsided loss to
- 10:56the New Jersey Devils. Eustace on and then had to face
- 11:00a ton of shots in this game. A lot of high danger chances on
- 11:04and then stopped. 5 breakaways in this game.
- 11:06The majority of them were from the Devil's best players.
- 11:09Nico He Shear had two. Jack Hughes had two.
- 11:12Both guys had one from the far blue line in and everything that
- 11:17went well against the Avalanche in terms of limiting odd man
- 11:20rushes, strong defensive structure to combat the speed
- 11:23game. It all went the other way the
- 11:26next night against the Devils. Yeah, you talk about the
- 11:28breakaway saves that on an N had it, it's almost felt a little
- 11:32frustrating for him, right, Cuz he was able to stand tall in the
- 11:35one-on-one battles, but defensively as a whole, it just
- 11:38looked like a different team than what we had seen Saturday
- 11:42night. So a tough five, five to nothing
- 11:45lost against the Devils. And then like Bruno said, going
- 11:48into this homestand, it was a little bit of murderer's row is
- 11:51what he called it. You take on the Avalanche, the
- 11:53Devils and then the defending Stanley Cup champion, the
- 11:56Florida Panthers come to town. And even without Matthew Kachuk,
- 12:01this is still a very, very dangerous team.
- 12:04And the Preds just, they just couldn't find a way to to come
- 12:08back with that defensive mindset that we've been talking about
- 12:11this podcast that we saw right out of the break.
- 12:14Yeah, Predators lose that game 41 to the Panthers on Tuesday
- 12:18night, 90s night at Bridgestone Arena.
- 12:21And the big culprit in this game was penalty trouble.
- 12:23Predators once short handed five times throughout the hockey
- 12:27game, including once in the first minute of the game.
- 12:30The dog Pog giveth, and the dog Pog taketh away, Kara.
- 12:34You love the dog Pog Max. I love some dog pogs, I hate
- 12:37some dog pogs, and I hated this dog pog.
- 12:40Michael Mccarran tried to go off the glass and out, but he
- 12:42skipped the first part and just went out.
- 12:44And the Preds gave up a power play goal pretty quickly with
- 12:47one of their best killers in the box.
- 12:48Sam Reinhart to Sam Bennett down low made it 1.
- 12:51Nothing. Panthers a minute 23 in.
- 12:54Preds hung around, they nearly tied the game a couple of times.
- 12:58And then this game got really physical.
- 13:00Cara, we had a fight early in the second period, Mccarran
- 13:03against Jonah Gadjevich, trying to get the boys going.
- 13:06And then the Preds had a great chance right after that.
- 13:09Nearly tied the game up, but the Panthers got the second goal and
- 13:13then things got ugly. Dirty hit by Sam Bennett,
- 13:17Panthers second line center on Roman Yosi, clear boarding.
- 13:21Andrew Brunette was shocked. He said after the game that that
- 13:24penalty was not reviewed for a possible major.
- 13:28Yosi, injured, did not play in the third period, may miss some
- 13:31more time and from there Sam Bennett became the marked man
- 13:36the rest of the way. The guys came out with so much
- 13:39emotion during the third period, and it was a little bit
- 13:42frustrating that it took the spark of Yossi being injured.
- 13:45Obviously, right after he was hit into the boards, he stayed
- 13:48on the ice. He played on the power play.
- 13:50Then he did not return for the final frame.
- 13:52The guys came out fired up. Everybody wanted a piece of Sam
- 13:56Bennett. Luke Shen tried to go after him.
- 13:58He didn't want anything to do with #2 Cole Smith was finally
- 14:02the guy who got him to drop the gloves.
- 14:05But Max? Frustrating all around for the
- 14:07team, especially with the unknown circumstances of Yossi's
- 14:11future with a potential injury. Yeah, not a good place to be
- 14:16without your captain. And like you said, they all went
- 14:19after him. Luke Shen dropped the gloves,
- 14:23Sam Bennett did not. So Luke Shenn grabbed him by the
- 14:26front of his collar, slammed his face into the ice, which I
- 14:28absolutely loved. And it did not get a penalty,
- 14:30which I really loved that part of it.
- 14:33And then as through the Preds cut it to one.
- 14:36That fight with Cole Smith, he wasn't going to let Sam Bennett
- 14:39say no. And it was a rare power play
- 14:42fight. Panthers were on a power play.
- 14:44Smith knew Bennett would be on the ice.
- 14:46And this is how it sounded with beaten Jay on the call.
- 14:49Marco put it down in front, tipped right on by Reinhardt and
- 14:53boy what a collision we have in front of UC Cerros and a
- 14:58struggle going on big time now. Cole Smith and Sam Bennett going
- 15:05at each other hammer and Tong. Smith has lost his helmet.
- 15:10Now he gets a big right to the mush to Bennett and both go down
- 15:14in the high slot. Cole Smith gets the win on that
- 15:17one. I don't know if were you also
- 15:19fighting someone named Tong Hammer or was Pete just making a
- 15:22a metaphor there. I think it was just a metaphor.
- 15:25Just a metaphor, OK, Yeah, I don't know anybody named Tong
- 15:27either, but I think you could take a Tong.
- 15:30Yeah, maybe. Yeah, maybe you could.
- 15:31But yeah, the IT was Fight Night turned into Fight Night down the
- 15:34stretch and the Preds had their chances to win this game.
- 15:36They were down to one, but what was a pretty fluky goal made it
- 15:403-1. Gus Forsling, a shot off the
- 15:42wall that I think hit a Pred on the way to the net made it 3-1.
- 15:46A goal that made it 4-1 was successfully challenged by the
- 15:49Preds for goalie interference. So they were down 2.
- 15:52And then after Philip Forsberg took a retaliatory cross check
- 15:56after a dirty cross check to his back by Panthers defenseman and
- 16:00Uvis Polinskis, we played four on four.
- 16:03Forsberg had to go off for two pivotal minutes at the end of a
- 16:06close game and the Panthers scored a four on four goal to
- 16:10take a 4-1 lead. That would become the final as
- 16:14the Preds lose their second game in a row.
- 16:15They've won just two of their last 10 heading into Thursday's
- 16:18game against The Jets at Bridstone Arena on Hockey Fights
- 16:21Cancer Night. Then this weekend they will
- 16:23start a three-game road trip. Three games and four days on the
- 16:26road. Saturday afternoon on Long
- 16:29Island against the Islanders at 11:30 Central time.
- 16:33Then Sunday night at six against the Rangers at Madison Square
- 16:36Garden. So back-to-back games in New
- 16:38York this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, and then next Tuesday
- 16:42they will be in Boston to face the Bruins before returning home
- 16:46next Thursday night, March 6th against the Seattle Kraken,
- 16:50which will be the final game before the trade deadline, which
- 16:53is just a week and a half away. So we'll probably have some
- 16:56trade coverage for you next week as well.
- 16:58Prince have made a couple of AHL moves over the last few weeks.
- 17:01We will break those down for you later in the show.
- 17:04But Kara, a couple stats we want to note which are not great.
- 17:08Steven Stamkos, currently on the longest pointless drought of his
- 17:1217 year NHL career. He has not had a point in his
- 17:16last 11 games for the Predators. I liked it better.
- 17:19Max, when we were in here and we were talking about this point
- 17:22streaks, the players had started to get on.
- 17:24We had a bout of Marsha so and Phillip was finally getting
- 17:28things turned around. But Max, it's it.
- 17:30It's tough when the top scores are not producing.
- 17:34You need the you need these veteran guys to find a way to
- 17:37get on the board and something is just not clicking offensively
- 17:41to to allow them to do that. See what happens against The
- 17:44Jets, who are the number one team in the NHL, but the Preds
- 17:47will have a distinct rest advantage.
- 17:50The Jets are on a tough back-to-back Thursday night.
- 17:52Coming from Ottawa on Wednesday night, that is a rough
- 17:57back-to-back. That's a rough back-to-back so
- 17:59this but you know, let's give a shout out to the fans because we
- 18:02have still had great fan attendance.
- 18:05I wanna I, I believe believe her name is Danielle who I spoke
- 18:09with leaving the rink on Saturday night said she listens
- 18:11to our podcast. So if I don't have your name
- 18:14correctly, you know who you are, I'm giving you a shout out.
- 18:17The fans are still there, Max. They're still here for these
- 18:19players. We need them back on Thursday
- 18:21night against Winnipeg and I mean, what a boost of confidence
- 18:24for these guys if they could come out and find a way to pick
- 18:26up two points against The Jets. Absolutely.
- 18:29We'll take a break, come back with more Preds, have made a
- 18:31couple of AHL trades. We have some game time changes
- 18:34to let you know about. Games will be earlier.
- 18:37No more late night games at Bridgestone Arena this month.
- 18:39So that's good news. And also the success story of
- 18:44Cara Hammer wedding ring hunting for her Mama at Bridgestone
- 18:49Arena. That's coming up next year on
- 18:50the predators official podcast. She's Kara Hammer from Predators
- 18:54TV. I'm Max hers from Preds radio.
- 18:56This is the POP on your exclusive radio home for Preds
- 18:59hockey, ESPN. One O 2 five and one O 6 three
- 19:02the game. Your drinking money Tune up your
- 19:19door roll. People say it was useless with
- 19:23them people all through those. Curtis Love was the finest
- 19:32picker to ever play in the blue. Welcome back to the Predators
- 19:37official podcast on ESPN. One O 2 five and one O 6 three
- 19:41The game. Cara Hammer rocking out to some
- 19:43Leonard Skynyrd here on The POP. I'm feeling good, Max.
- 19:46It's like 70° outside. It's a beautiful day in
- 19:48Nashville. I was looking at my my memories
- 19:51three years ago today. We were celebrating the Stadium
- 19:54Series, a Nissan Stadium. Might have been the coldest day
- 19:57I can ever recall in Nashville, but that was a great time.
- 20:03If the weather were swapped between three years ago today
- 20:05and today, we would be celebrating a stadium puddle.
- 20:08Right, it would be. It would be too warm to be
- 20:11skating outside right now, but I did thoroughly enjoy the
- 20:14sunshine today. I was out at the park, so it's
- 20:16good. I feel like we're close to
- 20:18spring. The hockey gods absolutely
- 20:21blessed us with great hockey weather 3 years ago, and today
- 20:25the gods of spring have blessed us with good weather.
- 20:28Period. It's just Nashville, Max.
- 20:31It's a special place. Only in Smashville we do have
- 20:35some game time changes that have been announced by the NHL due to
- 20:39changes with the national TV schedule.
- 20:42And it's good news for you guys who are attending games because
- 20:44there were a couple home games coming up in March that were
- 20:47supposed to be later weeknight starts that are now normal, 7:00
- 20:51starts. The first of those is next week.
- 20:53Next Thursday, March 6th against the Kraken was originally
- 20:56supposed to be 845 FPM for ESPN. That game is now just a normal
- 21:017:00 start. So Thursday, March 6th against
- 21:03the Kraken. Next Thursday that game is at
- 21:057:00. Tuesday, March 18th against the
- 21:08Blues was supposed to be at 8:00 at Bridgestone Arena.
- 21:11That game is now at 7. So again, another late weeknight
- 21:15start gone away and a road game March 25th, a Tuesday night in
- 21:20Carolina, has changed by half an hour.
- 21:22That was supposed to be at 6:30. That's now at six.
- 21:25All those games no longer with ESPN.
- 21:28So every single game The rest of the season is on the FanDuel
- 21:30Sports Network with Kara Hammer and her friends.
- 21:33We'll be here and we'll be bringing you all the cool
- 21:36stories. And Max, a super cool story
- 21:38happened recently. Ryan O'reilly's little excuse me
- 21:42not little brother, older brother call O'Reilly played in
- 21:47his one thousandth AHL game for the Milwaukee Admirals.
- 21:52Little fun fact for you. They are now the only two
- 21:55brothers who have ever played pro hockey for 1000 games, one
- 22:01in the NHL, one in the AHL and it was super cool.
- 22:04If you if you missed any of the videos or photos go on go online
- 22:08to social media for the Milwaukee Admirals and even the
- 22:10Preds put it out. But the factor was there,
- 22:13holding up a sign for his brother that said score me a
- 22:16goal and on the other side said Congrats on having less teeth
- 22:21than me. Incredible.
- 22:23Yeah. And, and the entire family was
- 22:25there. Cal was not expecting any of
- 22:27them to go. It was a road game for the ads.
- 22:30It was a weekday day game in Chicago against the Wolves.
- 22:34O'Reilly got the go ahead from Andrew Brunette and Barry Trotz
- 22:39to miss a day of practice if needed to go up there.
- 22:42Practice ended up being cancelled, so it worked out even
- 22:44better. But the Chicago Wolves play
- 22:46literally right next to the O'Hare airport, so that's the
- 22:50easiest trip in the world for him to make.
- 22:52And then Cal's wife and kids came down from Milwaukee.
- 22:56Ryan brought one of his sons and then their parents as well were
- 23:01there. So an awesome day for call.
- 23:03O'Reilly was drafted by the Preds 20 years ago, started his
- 23:07NHL career with the Preds in 2009 and now is in his second
- 23:10year back in the Preds organization.
- 23:13And the O'Reilly brothers are two of the most influential
- 23:16figures helping the young players at both steps of the
- 23:19Preds organizational ladder. Learn how to play pro hockey the
- 23:22right way, the O'Reilly way. Yeah.
- 23:25And you know, Ryan said this is how he learned to play hockey
- 23:27the right way. He was following in Cal's
- 23:29footsteps. He said Cal played hockey, I
- 23:31played hockey. He played at this level, so I
- 23:33learned how to play at this level.
- 23:34He played in the NHL, in the NHL.
- 23:36So I followed in what he was doing.
- 23:38He led by example and I thought that was so cool.
- 23:42He also heavily detailed times where he did not look up to his
- 23:45Big Brother and their many brotherly fights, including some
- 23:50as adults, which I think is maybe the funniest Part 1 of
- 23:54their First off seasons when both of them were playing pro in
- 23:57the NHL, they trained together. They were part of the same group
- 24:01of players skiing together in the offseason, frequently in
- 24:04Toronto, and they were living together too.
- 24:07And Ryan said that eventually they had to start driving
- 24:11separate cars to their workouts, even though they were starting
- 24:15from the same place and going to the same place.
- 24:18Because if one of them won and one of them lost and they were
- 24:21on different teams in the scrimmage that day, they would
- 24:24fight in the car ride back. And their mom told them that it
- 24:27was going to tear their family apart.
- 24:31I think that we should we could do a an entire series on the
- 24:35moms of these of these brothers playing and what it's like,
- 24:39right? You know, you look at the
- 24:41O'Reilly Brothers, the Shins. There's a little bit of talk
- 24:44right now. Where is Braden Shin going?
- 24:46Things are happening in Saint Louis.
- 24:47They're in a little bit of the same position as Nashville.
- 24:50Could we see Braden and Shin, Braden and Luke reunited?
- 24:54We saw Matthew and Brady, Chuck, I mean, Max.
- 24:59Wait, let's get some moms on. I'm game.
- 25:02That's the Cara Hammer project for the rest of the year because
- 25:05you've done some major mom public service this week.
- 25:09Is it story time? It's story time, let's do it.
- 25:12So Sunday night I brought my mother to the hockey game with
- 25:16the task of Grandma was going to watch Remy, my 2 1/2 year old at
- 25:21the game so I could work. It was a 5:00 PM start.
- 25:24It's the first time we could really bring Remy out with
- 25:27bedtime and nap time. Middle of the first period back
- 25:31she noticed that her wedding ring is missing.
- 25:36It's devastating. So she comes down and she tells
- 25:41me I lost my wedding ring. So shout out to my best friend
- 25:44Liz, who was at the game, who spent the entire next two
- 25:47periods walking through Bridgestone Arena looking for
- 25:50it. No sign of it.
- 25:51We notify security, we fill out the forms, we do all the things.
- 25:55Complete panic. I decide in the morning I'll
- 25:57just put it out on social media because most of the followers
- 25:59are Preds followers, right? So maybe somebody would would
- 26:02have seen it. It kind of blows up.
- 26:05So many people are wishing and retweeting.
- 26:08And Max, by the grace of a Good Samaritan who to this day is
- 26:13unknown, the ring was returned to security and it's back in my
- 26:17mother's hands as of Tuesday morning.
- 26:22We have to find this person. If you return my mother's
- 26:25wedding ring, come forward. I want to thank you.
- 26:28I want to hug you. I want to give you all of the
- 26:30good graces. Yeah, local hero right there.
- 26:32I mean, that's another only in Smashville, if you're at a game
- 26:35and you have a chance to do a good deed, that ain't going to
- 26:39happen everywhere. That's what I told her after
- 26:41that game. I said, you know, mom, I know
- 26:43it's sad. This is your wedding ring.
- 26:45It's so sentimental to you, I said.
- 26:47But if you were ever going to lose it, I truly believe that
- 26:50Nashville is a place where we can find it.
- 26:52She never gave up hope. She just kept telling me, I'm
- 26:54going to get it back. I'm going to get it back.
- 26:55I believe I'm going to get it back.
- 26:57And it's just the magic of Smashville.
- 26:59And so when I posted that we'd found the ring, so many people
- 27:02have commented and said, Oh my gosh, this is the magic of what
- 27:08we are. These are press fans.
- 27:10This is why we love this organization so much.
- 27:12We love Bridgestone Arena and it's not a stupid rank because
- 27:15somebody found a little diamond ring at that ring.
- 27:19Incredible. Yeah, well, maybe the maybe the
- 27:21ring bounced off the backboards. Bounced out of the backboards
- 27:24and right into somebody's hand. Unbelievable.
- 27:29What does Remy think about all this?
- 27:31You know, Remy was just happy that she got Dippin Dots for the
- 27:34first time and got to see her mom at work.
- 27:36So that was a great night. But this is what all comes back
- 27:39to. People have asked how did she
- 27:41listen? I don't know if she's two.
- 27:42We have Dippin Dots. You have a bottle of water, you
- 27:44have the popcorn, you have the snacks, you have the jackets.
- 27:46You don't know if the game's going to be cold and you know,
- 27:49things just happen. Hey grandma, I got it back.
- 27:52Grandma's Grandma's back in business now.
- 27:55Grammy Hammy, even though her last name's not Hammer, her last
- 27:58name is Hammer. Grammy Hammy.
- 28:00Grammy Hammy does that work? Does she go by Grammy Hammy?
- 28:02She goes by Grammy. OK, Grammy Hammy.
- 28:06There it is. That's perfect.
- 28:08Yeah. So if you know the person who
- 28:09returned it, please, please let me know.
- 28:12Please do. Great story, great, great story.
- 28:16I will take a break. Come back with more here on the
- 28:17Predators Official Podcast, ESPN one O 2 five and one O 6 three
- 28:21the game. Welcome back to the Predators
- 29:02official podcast here on ESPN. One O 2 five and one O 6 three
- 29:06of the game Max here is from Preds Radio with Kara Hammer
- 29:10from Predators TV here on Wednesday, February 26th.
- 29:14Head into a busy week and weekend for the Preds.
- 29:17They will be in New York this weekend taking on the Islanders,
- 29:21the final team in the NHL that the Preds have not yet played
- 29:24this season. Saturday at 11:30 AM Central
- 29:27time, 12:30 Eastern Time on Long Island.
- 29:30A lot of day games that day to get you ready for the Stadium
- 29:33Series. Saturday night, Red Wings and
- 29:37Blue Jackets in the Stadium Series at Ohio State.
- 29:43Do you feel like you're excited for the Stadium Series after the
- 29:46Four Nations? I'm excited for every outdoor
- 29:49game. I think every outdoor game
- 29:50should have its own day, all the pizzazz.
- 29:53And that's gonna be a huge game too, cause the Blue Jackets are
- 29:56playing exceptionally well right now.
- 29:58It's their first time hosting an outdoor game in Columbus, and
- 30:01the Red Wings are the team they are locked up with in a busy
- 30:04wild card chase. It'll be a good one.
- 30:07Gonna be a lot of fun. That's Saturday night at 5:00
- 30:09Central on ESPN for the outdoor game.
- 30:12Make sure to tune into that. Preds have the Islanders that
- 30:15morning and then Sunday night at Madison Square Garden against
- 30:20the Rangers. Going to be a lot of fun.
- 30:21It'll be my second visit to MSG with the Preds always special to
- 30:26be at the World's Most Famous Arena.
- 30:28And then Tuesday night, the hometown Battle of Halberta for
- 30:31Hal Gill in Boston against the Bruins.
- 30:34Preds only visits all three of those rinks this season.
- 30:37I've never made it to MSG. What's your?
- 30:41What's your? Favorite What's your favorite
- 30:42arena to now that you've had a chance to travel with the team
- 30:45this season, work on the radio side for the broadcasts.
- 30:49Where do you stand? My favorite arena is Calgary.
- 30:52OK, if it's just the arena, it's Calgary.
- 30:55All right. The last real barn in the NHL.
- 30:58I'm gonna go tie myself to the saddle Dome, handcuff it like a
- 31:01hippie to a tree when they knocked that thing down in a
- 31:04couple of years. Last real barn in the league.
- 31:06That place is awesome. Yeah, I'd.
- 31:09I'm gonna miss. I'm gonna miss the saddle down.
- 31:11Yeah, I think I've called four games there now.
- 31:15That's cool. I love it.
- 31:17I love it. It's not my favorite city.
- 31:19I had nothing wrong with it. But my favorite city would be a
- 31:22different answer. But my favorite arena is
- 31:24Calgary, as Crispy would say. Yeah.
- 31:26Home Home of Terry Crisp. Home of Terry Crisp, Home of
- 31:29many great things. All right, we got a few other
- 31:32things to let you know about here on the POP down the stretch
- 31:35that Saturday game against the Islanders.

- 31:48Saturday late morning. The party begins at 10:30.
- 31:52Come on out anytime between 10:30 and the end of the game
- 31:54around 3:00 or so on Saturday at sky deck upstairs at the
- 31:59Assembly food hall. If you still haven't been into
- 32:01Skydeck, it is a really cool venue.
- 32:04It is not only a concert venue, the Preds have used it for a lot
- 32:07of events. They've used it for their draft
- 32:08party. It is a really cool spot, so go
- 32:11check it out. How's the weather going to be
- 32:13Saturday? You're usually a lot of days
- 32:14ahead on the weather. I am not.
- 32:16I did feel like Saturday was a little bit cooler, but it's
- 32:19still a great place to be and that has one of the best views
- 32:23of the city. I'm a big fan.
- 32:25I'm a big fan of the Skydeck. I've mentioned this before.
- 32:27There will be autographed Preds gear and tickets up for grabs at
- 32:30the Bud Light Official Watch Party this Saturday with Wayne D

- 33:10This is great. I mean, this is that's a little
- 33:12bit of hockey weather. Weather, right?

- 34:15Dallas is a fun city of a fun place to go watch a game.
- 34:18But it's not where the wine fest is going to be at the exact same
- 34:20time. I may be at the wine fest.
- 34:22Yeah, we'll send Kara as our surrogate there.
- 34:24There are also some fun things coming up earlier that week on
- 34:27Preds TV. We will hopefully be able to let
- 34:29you know about those soon, but until then, it's a cliffhanger.
- 34:34It's at the BOP. Let's just hope we see everybody

- 35:09you will see him in his new HFC Best.
- 35:13I was just curious where you would find a lavender sombrero.
- 35:17Mexico, they have them in all colors I believe.
- 35:19Oh. OK.
- 35:20That's the answer. But yeah, we've been
- 35:21accumulating the sombreros recently.
- 35:23We have a Nash popcorn box on the radio desk in Barrelhouse,
- 35:27who has his own mini sombrero now.
- 35:29All right, yeah, we've been accumulating some good stuff.
- 35:31We got our Vince Gill and Amy Grant bobblehead.
- 35:34And that reminds me, we have one more thing to tell you guys.
- 35:36We have added one more bobblehead to the Music City
- 35:40Bobblehead series for this year. We still have Jelly Roll coming
- 35:44up as originally scheduled on Thursday, March 27th against the

- 35:54Music City bobblehead on Tuesday April 8th against the Islanders.
- 35:59Trisha Yearwood, my girl finish the year off.
- 36:03I will never forget that one time I was at at the the charity
- 36:07bowling event for the National Predators Foundation and Tricia
- 36:10Yearwood was there and her song came on the radio Max and she
- 36:14sang along with all of the people bowling and I just
- 36:17thought that was so cool. Oh, she'll be in the mix on
- 36:20Tuesday night, April 8th, in the second to last week of the Pred
- 36:24season as they take on the Islanders for Tricia Yearwood
- 36:27Bobblehead Night at Bradstone Arena.
