- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi, Danielle.
- 0:00Speaker 2: You're on the air. Good morning.
- 0:02Speaker 3: Hi.
- 0:03Speaker 4: Yes, so, hello.
- 0:06Speaker 1: I was supposed to get married next year. And so
- 0:12Speaker 1: my best friend has been weird about my fiancé basically
- 0:15Speaker 1: since I met him, right?
- 0:17Speaker 4: And I always just assumed that she didn't like him.
- 0:20Speaker 4: Maybe I'm spending too much time with him, not enough
- 0:22Speaker 4: with her.
- 0:23Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 0:23Speaker 1: But recently we got into a huge fight.
- 0:30Speaker 4: And she finally admits to me that she hooked up
- 0:35Speaker 4: with my fiance. Oh, no.
- 0:39Speaker 5: Yes.
- 0:41Speaker 4: Now, OK, to be fair, it was several years before
- 0:43Speaker 4: we met, but they both decided to just not tell me.
- 0:47Speaker 4: And she's been standing next to me, helping me plan
- 0:51Speaker 4: a wedding.
- 0:51Speaker 5: For like a year.
- 0:52Speaker 4: So I called up the engagement. I did not because
- 0:57Speaker 4: they hooked up, but because. The two people closest to
- 1:01Speaker 4: me looked me in the face every day and decided
- 1:04Speaker 4: to lie.
- 1:05Speaker 1: But I didn't deserve to know the truth.
- 1:06Speaker 3: What was the nature of the hookup? What happened?
- 1:11Speaker 2: Do you know?
- 1:12Speaker 1: It was multiple times and I believe it was all
- 1:16Speaker 1: the way. Oh my God.
- 1:18Speaker 5: So if you, if you're, I mean now ex-fiance and
- 1:22Speaker 5: ex-best friend, if they told you that they had hooked
- 1:24Speaker 5: up before, even if this was, you know, six months ago,
- 1:27Speaker 5: do you think that you would have called off the
- 1:28Speaker 5: engagement or is it just because they continue to.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Lie to you? I think, I hope that I would
- 1:36Speaker 4: have been able to like get over it. It was
- 1:38Speaker 4: before I met him and like, I didn't meet him
- 1:41Speaker 4: through her. So it was not connected. Like they, it
- 1:44Speaker 4: wasn't their fault, but then they're both lying to me.
- 1:47Speaker 4: And it feels like they actually like had this whole,
- 1:51Speaker 4: some sort of relationship outside of me.
- 1:53Speaker 3: I would feel that way too.
- 1:55Speaker 2: I got to tell you though, you got to try
- 1:56Speaker 2: to put yourself in their perspective for a second. They
- 1:59Speaker 2: had this relationship. Maybe the friend and the boyfriend at
- 2:02Speaker 2: some point didn't realize how far this was going to
- 2:05Speaker 2: go with you. And now there's three months, you're three
- 2:08Speaker 2: months into a serious relationship. Now you're like, do we
- 2:11Speaker 2: tell her? Now it's six months in. Now it's a year,
- 2:13Speaker 2: however long you've been together. Like, oh, my God, they're
- 2:15Speaker 2: getting married and we've never told her. Like, let's just
- 2:18Speaker 2: nip it.
- 2:19Speaker 5: But you know how that conversation goes, right? Like, as
- 2:22Speaker 5: soon as Danielle brings her new boyfriend around her best friend,
- 2:25Speaker 5: they look at each other.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Things are awkward.
- 2:27Speaker 5: Then the two of them decide to go off to
- 2:29Speaker 5: the side and say, yeah, we're not going to tell her.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Or maybe they already talked about it. Maybe they never
- 2:33Speaker 2: even talked about it.
- 2:33Speaker 6: Either way, it like doesn't it almost doesn't even matter
- 2:37Speaker 6: what was behind the hiding of it. it's the fact
- 2:41Speaker 6: that you like poor danielle's been the odd man out
- 2:43Speaker 6: this whole time and they've been holding the secret behind
- 2:45Speaker 6: her back whether they talked about it and conspired behind
- 2:48Speaker 6: her back or just didn't tell her and just it
- 2:50Speaker 6: was like an unspoken thing it almost doesn't even matter
- 2:52Speaker 6: because she's felt so awkward finding it out that like
- 2:56Speaker 6: this whole the whole time extra gloves like it's.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Sort of like give danielle the information so she can
- 3:01Speaker 3: decide what she wants to do with it but If
- 3:04Speaker 3: you're both hiding it.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Actually, the part that bothers me the most is that
- 3:08Speaker 2: you get into a fight with your friend and your
- 3:10Speaker 2: friend uses that to hurt you.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Yeah, that's also messed up.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Yeah, it's not like they sat down to tell me
- 3:16Speaker 4: a hard truth. Right, she's mad at you.
- 3:18Speaker 3: And she's like, by the way, I slept with David.
- 3:20Speaker 5: Right, which means that she's in the back of her
- 3:22Speaker 5: head the whole time. Every time you've irritated her, she's like.
- 3:25Speaker 6: You're right, that makes it worse.
- 3:27Speaker 3: And what's your fiance, now that you've broken up and
- 3:30Speaker 3: called off the engagement, what's his excuse or his plea
- 3:33Speaker 3: to get you back?
- 3:34Speaker 4: He's like, I don't want to hurt your feelings.
- 3:36Speaker 5: I love you so much.
- 3:38Speaker 4: And please don't throw away our relationship over one thing.
- 3:41Speaker 4: And I'm like, I'm not going to spend the rest
- 3:43Speaker 4: of my life with someone who doesn't tell me things.
- 3:46Speaker 4: You know, a lie of omission.
- 3:49Speaker 6: Trust. It broke the trust.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Well, thank you for calling in, Danielle.
- 3:55Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Have a great day.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Yep.
- 3:58Speaker 6: Yep. Got it going.
