Speaker 2: Morning Update. It's the forty seven Morning Update and it
• 3:13
  Speaker 2: starts right now.
• 3:15
  Speaker 3: Story number one.
• 3:16
Speaker 2: We are now learning President Trump's administration has opened a
• 3:20
Speaker 2: criminal probe into the FED chair Jerome Powell, the Central
• 3:25
Speaker 2: Bank chair, has condemned what he's describing as intimidation following
• 3:31
Speaker 2: grand jury subpoenuts. President Trump's administration opening the criminal investigation
• 3:37
Speaker 2: into the Federal Reserve chairman in a development set to
• 3:40
Speaker 2: heighten concerns about the quote independence of the US monetary policy.
• 3:45
Speaker 2: That is, how the left in the media are spending
• 3:48
Speaker 2: it already. Powell is set on Sunday that the Central
• 3:51
Speaker 2: Bank has been served with grand jury subpoenuts related to
• 3:56
Speaker 2: his own testimony about the renovation to the Fed's headquarters
• 4:01
Speaker 2: in Washington, d C. Quote. The threat of criminal charges
• 4:06
Speaker 2: is a consequence of the Federal Reserve setting interest rates
• 4:10
Speaker 2: based on our best assessment of what will serve the public,
• 4:15
Speaker 2: rather than following the preferences of the President, Palell said
• 4:18
Speaker 2: in a rare video message, he said, this is about
• 4:22
Speaker 2: where the FED will be able to continue to set
• 4:25
Speaker 2: interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions, or whether
• 4:33
Speaker 2: instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure and intimidation.
• 4:41
Speaker 2: That is again the FED Chairman's own words. Now the
• 4:45
Speaker 2: federal prosecutors opening the criminal investigation confirming it Sunday evening
• 4:51
Speaker 2: as well, Powell said that the probe was the result
• 4:55
Speaker 2: of just what he said, basically a political attack on him.
• 5:00
Speaker 2: Said that on Friday, the Department of Justice served the
• 5:03
Speaker 2: Federal Reserve with the grand jury subpoenas threatening the criminal
• 5:07
Speaker 2: indictment related to my testimony. In fact, here is Jerome
• 5:11
Speaker 2: Powell in his own words and a shocking video he released.
• 5:15
Speaker 4: On Friday, the Department of Justice served the Federal Reserve
• 5:18
Speaker 4: with grand jury subpoenas threatening a criminal indictment related to
• 5:22
Speaker 4: my testimony before the Senate Banking Committee last June. That
• 5:26
Speaker 4: testimony concerned, in part, a multi year project to renovate
• 5:30
Speaker 4: historic Federal Reserve office buildings. I have deep respect for
• 5:34
Speaker 4: the rule of law and for accountability in our democracy.
• 5:38
Speaker 4: No one, certainly not the chair of the Federal Reserve,
• 5:41
Speaker 4: is above the law. But this unprecedented action should be
• 5:44
Speaker 4: seen in the broader context of the administration's threats and
• 5:48
Speaker 4: ongoing pressure. This new threat is not about my testimony
• 5:52
Speaker 4: last June or about the renovation of the Federal Reserve buildings.
• 5:56
Speaker 4: It is not about Congress's oversight. Rule. Testimony and other
• 6:01
Speaker 4: public disclosures made every effort to keep Congress informed about
• 6:05
Speaker 4: the renovation project. Those are pretexts. The threat of criminal
• 6:10
Speaker 4: charges is a consequence of the Federal Reserve setting interest
• 6:14
Speaker 4: rates based on our best assessment of what will serve
• 6:17
Speaker 4: the public, rather than following the preferences of the President.
• 6:22
Speaker 4: This is about whether the Fed will be able to
• 6:24
Speaker 4: continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions,
• 6:28
Speaker 4: or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political
• 6:31
Speaker 4: pressure or intimidation. I have served at the Federal Reserve
• 6:36
Speaker 4: under four administrations, Republicans and Democrats alike. In every case,
• 6:41
Speaker 4: I have carried out my duties without political fear or favor,
• 6:45
Speaker 4: focused solely on our mandate of price stability and maximum employment.
• 6:51
Speaker 4: Public service sometimes requires standing firm in the face of threats.
• 6:56
Speaker 4: I will continue to do the job the Senate confirmed
• 6:58
Speaker 4: me to do with integrity and a commitment to serving
• 7:02
Speaker 4: the American people. Thank you.
• 7:06
Speaker 2: It is a shocking move for the Federal Reserve to
• 7:08
Speaker 2: put out a video like this. A person familiar with
• 7:12
Speaker 2: the investigation also telling CNBC that they would not dispute
• 7:16
Speaker 2: the idea that the probe of Pal is related to
• 7:19
Speaker 2: the building renovation and his testimony to Congress, saying, quote,
• 7:23
Speaker 2: I have deep respect for the rule of law and
• 7:25
Speaker 2: for accountability in our democracy. But as you heard again,
• 7:30
Speaker 2: Pal say, no one, certainly not the Chair of the
• 7:32
Speaker 2: Federal Reserve is above the law. But this unprecedent action
• 7:37
Speaker 2: should be seen in the broader context of the administration's
• 7:40
Speaker 2: threat and ongoing pressure. No one, certainly not. The Chair
• 7:44
Speaker 2: of the Federal Reserve is above the law, saying it
• 7:46
Speaker 2: not once, but you heard there twice, and he says
• 7:50
Speaker 2: that this is a new threat now. The New York
• 7:53
Speaker 2: Times was the first to report the probe, citing officials
• 7:56
Speaker 2: briefed on the matter. The investigation is also being over
• 8:00
Speaker 2: scene by the US Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia.
• 8:03
Speaker 2: According to the newspaper, the office is led by the
• 8:06
Speaker 2: US Attorney you know, hers, Judge Janee, a former New
• 8:11
Speaker 2: York state prosecutor former Fox News host who was appointed
• 8:15
Speaker 2: to that job by President Donald Trump. Trump has repeatedly
• 8:19
Speaker 2: blasted Powell for the FED not cutting interest rates as
• 8:23
Speaker 2: much and as quickly as the President is demanded since
• 8:25
Speaker 2: ining the White House in January of twenty twenty five.
• 8:29
Speaker 2: The White House, by the way, not commenting at this moment,
• 8:33
Speaker 2: referring questions about the probe to the Department of Justice.
• 8:37
Speaker 2: But if you look at the investigation, it does actually
• 8:41
Speaker 2: just seem to be about one thing. Did Powell lie
• 8:45
Speaker 2: to Congress about the renovations which became a flashpoint of
• 8:50
Speaker 2: the Federal Reserve building and those ongoing well renovations that
• 8:55
Speaker 2: the President has criticized. A DOJ spokesperson in a statement
• 9:01
Speaker 2: to c NBC without saying the comment was about Pals
• 9:05
Speaker 2: that quote, the Attorney General has instructed her US attorneys
• 9:09
Speaker 2: to prioritize investigating any abuse of taxpayer dollars. So maybe
• 9:16
Speaker 2: to the media, take a step back. Maybe the media
• 9:20
Speaker 2: you should look at the facts, and maybe the media
• 9:23
Speaker 2: you should stop jumping to conclusions and realize this maybe
• 9:26
Speaker 2: is not about interest rates. But maybe his own testimony
• 9:30
Speaker 2: and what he said to Congress will keep covering it.
• 9:34
Speaker 2: My bet is the President's probably going to be right
• 9:36
Speaker 2: on this one yet again. Now story number two, President
• 9:40
Speaker 2: Donald Trump has come out and pledged to uncover the
• 9:43
Speaker 2: leftist groups that are countering ICE all over the country.
• 9:48
Speaker 2: President Trump said that he believes the woman that was
• 9:51
Speaker 2: fatally shot by a US Immigration and Customs enforcement officer
• 9:55
Speaker 2: in Minneapolis last week may have been a professional agitator,
• 9:59
Speaker 2: in indicator that the government will uncover the funding sources
• 10:03
Speaker 2: behind such anti law enforcement agitation nationwide. Here's the President
• 10:08
Speaker 2: in his own words.
• 10:10
Speaker 1: The woman and her friend were highly disrespectful of law enforcement.
• 10:15
Speaker 1: You saw that they were harassing that were following for
• 10:19
Speaker 1: days and for hours, and I think, frankly, they're professional agitators,
• 10:25
Speaker 1: and I'd like to find out and we are going
• 10:27
Speaker 1: to find out who's paying for it with their brand
• 10:30
Speaker 1: new designs and all the different things. But these are
• 10:33
Speaker 1: professional agitators, and law enforcement should not be in a
• 10:37
Speaker 1: position where they have to put up with this stuff.
• 10:40
Speaker 1: What that woman and what her friend and what their
• 10:44
Speaker 1: other friends were doing to law enforcement, not just ICE,
• 10:48
Speaker 1: law enforcement is outrageous.
• 10:51
Speaker 2: The President added that he would like to find out,
• 10:54
Speaker 2: and we're going to find out who's paying for it.
• 10:56
Speaker 2: With their brand new signs and all the different things.
• 10:59
Speaker 2: These are professional agitators and law enforcements should not be
• 11:03
Speaker 2: in a position where they have to put up with
• 11:05
Speaker 2: this stuff. What that woman and what her friend and
• 11:08
Speaker 2: what their other friends are doing to law enforcement, not
• 11:11
Speaker 2: just ICE, law enforcement is outrageous. The US Department of
• 11:15
Speaker 2: Homeland Security retweeting a post in which rep Republican Representative
• 11:19
Speaker 2: Lance Couden of Texas asserted that the anti ICE protesters
• 11:23
Speaker 2: are actually all just being paid for saying, quote the
• 11:26
Speaker 2: anti ICE mobs or anything but organic dark money is
• 11:31
Speaker 2: bankrolling these far left groups like ice Watch and Lighting
• 11:35
Speaker 2: the Fuse. Americans deserve to know who's cutting the checks,
• 11:38
Speaker 2: the lawmaker said in his post. A person weaponizing their
• 11:43
Speaker 2: vehicle against law enforcement is unacceptable, and we're witnessing it.
• 11:47
Speaker 2: Happen all over the country. Fox News having even more
• 11:52
Speaker 2: on this, and here's what they said.
• 11:54
Speaker 3: Right now, DHS is deploying hundreds of more federal agents
• 11:57
Speaker 3: to Minnesota as violent anti ice protests continues to rise
• 12:01
  Speaker 3: in the state.
• 12:02
Speaker 5: Matt Finn joins us Live in Minneapolis with the details.
• 12:05
Speaker 6: Hey, Matt hi Ainsley, DHS sources tell us up to
• 12:08
Speaker 6: one thousand additional federal officers could surge at Minneapolis here.
• 12:12
Speaker 6: That's on top of the already two thousand agents on
• 12:15
Speaker 6: the ground. And this comes as DHS Secretary Christy Noum
• 12:19
Speaker 6: is defending her assessment of the Renee Good shooting.
• 12:22
Speaker 5: If you look at what the definition of domestic terrorism is,
• 12:25
Speaker 5: it completely fits the situation on the ground. This individual,
• 12:29
Speaker 5: as you saw in the video that we released just
• 12:31
Speaker 5: forty eight hours after this incident, showed that this officer
• 12:35
Speaker 5: was hit by her vehicle, she weaponized it, and he
• 12:38
Speaker 5: defended his life and those colleagues around him and the public.
• 12:42
Speaker 6: But the Democratic Mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frye, disagrees and
• 12:46
Speaker 6: is slamming Secretary Noum.
• 12:48
Speaker 7: It sounds like she doesn't believe a single word that
• 12:51
Speaker 7: she is saying right now. Here's the thing she's calling
• 12:54
Speaker 7: Minneapolis like this dystopian hell hole. You know how many
• 12:57
Speaker 7: shootings we've had so far this year, two and one
• 13:01
Speaker 7: of them was Ice. Two shootings in a large city
• 13:04
Speaker 7: so far this entire year, and one of them is Ice.
• 13:07
Speaker 7: This is a safe city, Ice and Christy Noman, everything
• 13:11
Speaker 7: they're doing is making it far less safe.
• 13:14
Speaker 6: And there's new video leading up to the moments of
• 13:16
Speaker 6: Renee goods shooting death by an ICE agent on Wednesday.
• 13:28
Speaker 6: The video appears to show goods suv partially blocking the street,
• 13:32
Speaker 6: honking her horn and apparently dancing in the driver's seat.
• 13:36
Speaker 6: Border Patrol tells us it's dangerous for agents to be
• 13:39
Speaker 6: blocked in by a car because there are so many
• 13:42
Speaker 6: anti ICE agitators who quickly surround them. A new video
• 13:45
Speaker 6: from last night apparently shows federal agents using crowd control
• 13:49
Speaker 6: tactics firing tear gas and pepper balls at protesters outside
• 13:53
Speaker 6: the federal building where ICE detainees are being held. An
• 13:56
Speaker 6: independent photographer who was there says protesters try to stop
• 14:00
Speaker 6: traffic in and out of the federal facility and they
• 14:04
Speaker 6: were met with forces. Now this is happening in a
• 14:06
Speaker 6: city where the mayor has told ICE to get the
• 14:09
Speaker 6: f out, and highly organized anti ICE activists are patrolling
• 14:12
Speaker 6: the neighborhoods. We ask Border Patrol during a ride along
• 14:16
Speaker 6: if any of this is going to.
• 14:17
Speaker 8: Deter them, Absolutely not. We're out here to do a
• 14:20
Speaker 8: job and we're not going to stop until it's done.
• 14:23
Speaker 8: If a mayor wants to say something that he's not
• 14:27
Speaker 8: not for us, if anybody wants to say that they're
• 14:29
Speaker 8: not for us, that is not going to stop what
• 14:32
Speaker 8: we're doing in Minneapolis or anywhere across the country.
• 14:36
Speaker 6: And that was during a ride along with Border Patrol.
• 14:38
Speaker 6: Have to say, driving around the city, as soon as
• 14:40
Speaker 6: they get out of their cars, they're met with people
• 14:42
Speaker 6: who have those ear piercing whistles, of people, you know,
• 14:46
Speaker 6: resisting trying to surround the cars. There is really a
• 14:49
Speaker 6: highly organized anti ICE, anti border patrol network here on
• 14:52
Speaker 6: the ground in the Twin Cities.
• 14:54
Speaker 2: It's clear the President United States of America wants to
• 14:57
Speaker 2: find out exactly who is weaponizing the these individuals to
• 15:00
Speaker 2: go after ICE agents. And you can see it there
• 15:03
Speaker 2: as ICE put out saying these individuals are impeding law
• 15:06
Speaker 2: enforcement and they're weaponizing their vehicles against ICE. The officer
• 15:11
Speaker 2: in this shooting was dutifully acted in self defense. That
• 15:16
Speaker 2: is what the DHD Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, Tricia
• 15:19
Speaker 2: McLaughlin said on X When Thing's for sure, the President
• 15:23
Speaker 2: now has made it clear, we're going to find out
• 15:25
Speaker 2: exactly who's paying these individuals and what group is behind them.
• 15:28
