Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
• 0:03
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're diving right back in
• 0:07
Speaker 1: to that Bill Clinton transcript from his conversation with Congress.
• 0:11
Speaker 1: And the next person asking questions is Anna Paulina Luna. Question, Mr. President,
• 0:18
Speaker 1: I just wanted to do a couple follow-ups. Regarding your
• 0:21
Speaker 1: personal conversation with Mr. Epstein, you said that he wanted
• 0:24
Speaker 1: to discuss economic and political questions. Was there ever a
• 0:28
Speaker 1: particular region of the world or topics that he wanted
• 0:31
Speaker 1: to address? Answer, I do remember that he was interested
• 0:34
Speaker 1: in two places that I was setting up AIDS work,
• 0:36
Speaker 1: in Asia and Africa. And Asia, he wanted to know
• 0:40
Speaker 1: if I thought it was going to be the Asian century,
• 0:44
Speaker 1: and the thing would be sustainable. And in that, he
• 0:47
Speaker 1: wanted to know whether I believe that you could have
• 0:49
Speaker 1: inaudible prosperity there, whether they could achieve something that they'd
• 0:53
Speaker 1: never achieved before. Question, it seems that Mr. Epstein also
• 0:58
Speaker 1: had a similar question about America's prosperity and economic policy.
• 1:02
Speaker 1: Did you feel that when he was asking questions, particularly
• 1:06
Speaker 1: maybe pertaining to the regulation of our stock market and
• 1:09
Speaker 1: derivative trading, did he on a number of occasions come
• 1:12
Speaker 1: back to that and maybe pick your brain about policy
• 1:16
Speaker 1: or future policy here in the United States? Clinton, no
• 1:20
Speaker 1: more than any other big issue. I mean, everybody lives
• 1:23
Speaker 1: in New York with money and he made his money
• 1:25
Speaker 1: advising Les Wexner, so he had to be interested in
• 1:28
Speaker 1: the markets. Anna Luna. And then, I know that Ghislaine
• 1:31
Speaker 1: Maxwell was a little bit more probably chatty with you.
• 1:35
Speaker 1: Did she ever share a similar interest to Mr. Epstein
• 1:37
Speaker 1: on economics or political topics of discussion? Were there any
• 1:41
Speaker 1: reoccurring topics that you felt she was wanting to focus on? Answer,
• 1:47
Speaker 1: not that I noticed. Question, all right. Thank you, Mr. President. Now,
• 1:53
Speaker 1: Jack Emmer is doing the questioning again. Thank you, Mr. President.
• 1:56
Speaker 1: We've covered a lot of topics today. And I'm going
• 1:58
Speaker 1: to walk through some of those topics that we've already covered.
• 2:01
Speaker 1: Just ask some questions for clarification. Clinton, okay. Question. First,
• 2:06
Speaker 1: during your relationship or the time that you knew Mr. Epstein,
• 2:10
Speaker 1: what did you understand his job to be? Answer. I'm
• 2:13
Speaker 1: not sure that I knew. It was never clear to me,
• 2:16
Speaker 1: but he could have been living on investing the profits
• 2:18
Speaker 1: he'd already made. I knew he was a finance guy. Question,
• 2:22
Speaker 1: and you just testified that Les Wexner, being one of
• 2:24
Speaker 1: his clients, did he ever make any other representations about
• 2:28
Speaker 1: who his clients were? Answer, no, but I never asked either. Question,
• 2:32
Speaker 1: during the time that you knew him, did Epstein ever
• 2:35
Speaker 1: provide you with financial advice? Answer, no. Question, did he
• 2:39
Speaker 1: ever provide you with tax advice? Answer, no. Question, did
• 2:42
Speaker 1: he ever personally receive money from Mr. Epstein? Answer, no. Question,
• 2:47
Speaker 1: did Mr. Epstein ever loan you money? In your personal capacity? Answer,
• 2:54
Speaker 1: not to my knowledge. Question, so to be clear, did
• 2:57
Speaker 1: you ever exchange money with Mr. Epstein? Answer, not that
• 3:00
  Speaker 1: I remember. I don't believe I did. Question, and throughout
• 3:04
Speaker 1: today's questioning, we've talked about the various properties that Mr.
• 3:08
Speaker 1: Epstein owned. You testified that you visited the Manhattan townhouse,
• 3:11
Speaker 1: is that right? Answer, yeah, I went there once. Question,
• 3:15
Speaker 1: and just for clarification... It's been reported that we've seen
• 3:19
Speaker 1: from the files from the DOJ that Mr. Epstein decorated
• 3:23
Speaker 1: his home with creepy and disturbing artwork. Did you notice
• 3:25
Speaker 1: anything unusual as far as his decor at his presence? Answer,
• 3:31
Speaker 1: keep in mind, I was only on the first floor,
• 3:33
Speaker 1: ground floor, and I didn't see anything like that there
• 3:36
Speaker 1: in any of the rooms that I saw. Question, it's
• 3:40
Speaker 1: been reported that Mr. Epstein had cameras on his premises.
• 3:43
Speaker 1: Did you notice anything? Any cameras at the Manhattan townhouse? Answer,
• 3:48
Speaker 1: I didn't, but there may have been, and that may
• 3:50
Speaker 1: have been the whole point. Question, Mr. Epstein apparently rented
• 3:54
Speaker 1: a property in Boston at one point. Did you ever
• 3:56
Speaker 1: visit that property? Answer, no. Question, did you ever visit Mr.
• 4:00
Speaker 1: Epstein's apartment in Paris? Answer, no. Question, did Mr. Epstein
• 4:05
Speaker 1: or Ms. Maxwell ever invite you to his property in Paris? Answer, no. Question,
• 4:10
Speaker 1: did Mr. Epstein ever invite you to his home in
• 4:13
Speaker 1: Palm Beach? Answer, no. Question, were you ever invited by
• 4:17
Speaker 1: Epstein or Maxwell to visit the Palm Beach property? Answer,
• 4:21
Speaker 1: I don't think so. Question, did you ever visit Ghislaine
• 4:24
Speaker 1: Maxwell's New York townhouse? Answer, no. I don't even know
• 4:28
Speaker 1: that I knew she had a townhouse. I knew about that.
• 4:31
Speaker 1: The only thing that he ever said to anything to
• 4:34
Speaker 1: me about Jeffrey was the New Mexico ranch. I never
• 4:37
Speaker 1: went there. Okay, sure you didn't, Bill. Question, did he
• 4:41
Speaker 1: invite you to the New Mexico ranch? Answer, sort of.
• 4:45
Speaker 1: I mean, he was a little, you know, but I
• 4:47
Speaker 1: didn't go. By then, I didn't go. Question, was there
• 4:50
  Speaker 1: a reason? Answer, I don't remember. But I think as
• 4:54
Speaker 1: we got closer to the end, that he said something
• 4:56
Speaker 1: about it. Question, Mr. President, in 2005, police in Palm Beach,
• 5:01
Speaker 1: Florida began investigating Epstein. In July of 2006, Epstein was
• 5:06
Speaker 1: arrested for the first time for soliciting prostitution for minors.
• 5:11
Speaker 1: For the record, prior to Mr. Epstein's arrest, Were you
• 5:14
Speaker 1: aware of any investigation into Mr. Epstein? Answer no. On
• 5:20
Speaker 1: October 20th of 2005, police executed a search warrant for Mr.
• 5:25
Speaker 1: Epstein's Palm Beach, Florida home. Palm Beach detective Joseph Ricari
• 5:31
Speaker 1: spoke out about his belief that Epstein was tipped off
• 5:34
Speaker 1: about the raid since multiple computers expected to be at
• 5:37
Speaker 1: the house were missing when the search warrant was executed.
• 5:40
Speaker 1: To your knowledge, Was Mr. Epstein tipped off about the
• 5:44
Speaker 1: October 20th search warrant in Palm Beach? Lawyer jumps in.
• 5:48
  Speaker 1: He's asking, to your knowledge. Answer, I don't know. I
• 5:51
Speaker 1: don't know. It's the first I heard of it. Question,
• 5:53
Speaker 1: they're only asking for your knowledge, Mr. President. Jack Emmer, Mr. President,
• 5:58
Speaker 1: did you ever make any kind of attempt to influence
• 6:00
Speaker 1: the media's coverage of Jeffrey Epstein? Answer, no. Question, at
• 6:05
Speaker 1: this time, I'd like to introduce what we've marked as
• 6:07
Speaker 1: Majority Exhibit 23. And this is Bates' number. EFTA 02792895.
• 6:16
Speaker 1: One page. Bill Clinton, I don't even know who that is.
• 6:21
Speaker 1: Jack Emmer. This is an email from Virginia Roberts, an
• 6:24
Speaker 1: Epstein victim, that alleged that you walked into Vanity Fair
• 6:28
Speaker 1: and threatened them not to write sex trafficking articles about
• 6:30
Speaker 1: your good friend, Jeffrey Epstein. Mr. President, is this true?
• 6:34
Speaker 1: Bill Clinton, no, no, not no, hell no, not close no.
• 6:40
Speaker 1: So he's calling Virginia a liar. Cool, got it. Question.
• 6:43
Speaker 1: Why do you think Ms. Roberts would make up these claims?
• 6:46
Speaker 1: Lawyer jumps in. Are you asking him to have an
• 6:49
Speaker 1: opinion about Ms. Roberts' point of mind? Can we not
• 6:52
Speaker 1: do that? Ask him about the facts that he knows,
• 6:54
Speaker 1: as opposed to asking about the facts in other people's minds. Question. Mr. President,
• 7:00
Speaker 1: have you ever asked any other publication to shut down
• 7:02
Speaker 1: a story related to Mr. Epstein? Bill Clinton, no. Question.
• 7:06
Speaker 1: By the Lawyer. And by any publication counsel, he answered
• 7:10
Speaker 1: the question about Vanity Fair, correct? M or yes? Bill Clinton,
• 7:14
Speaker 1: I absolutely did not. Question, Mr. President, did you ever
• 7:19
Speaker 1: advocate or suggest leniency in Epstein's case to any government officials,
• 7:23
Speaker 1: including those in the Justice Department or the Florida State
• 7:26
Speaker 1: Attorney's Office? Clinton, no. Question, on June 30th of 2008,
• 7:33
Speaker 1: Epstein pleaded guilty in Palm Beach County, Florida State Court...
• 7:37
Speaker 1: to two felony charges, one count of solicitation of prostitution,
• 7:41
Speaker 1: and one count of procurement of a person under 18
• 7:45
Speaker 1: for prostitution. He was subsequently sentenced to 18 months in
• 7:49
Speaker 1: Florida County Jail and began serving his sentence on June
• 7:52
Speaker 1: 30th of 2008. To be clear, you have not had
• 7:56
Speaker 1: any direct contact with Epstein after his 2006 arrest, is
• 8:00
Speaker 1: that right? Answer, that's correct. Question, after his arrest or
• 8:06
Speaker 1: after the publication of when he went to jail in 2008,
• 8:09
Speaker 1: can you just clarify the dates there? Jack Emmer, I'll
• 8:13
Speaker 1: ask another question. To be clear, you have not had
• 8:16
Speaker 1: any direct contact with Epstein after his arrest when he
• 8:20
Speaker 1: was incarcerated in 2008. Clinton, yes, to the best of
• 8:23
Speaker 1: my memory, that's correct. Question, are you aware of any
• 8:28
Speaker 1: effort by Epstein to contact you while he was incarcerated
• 8:31
Speaker 1: in Florida? Answer, I'm not. Question, Mr. President, who is
• 8:36
Speaker 1: Arnold Paul Prosperi? Answer, I think that he's the son
• 8:41
Speaker 1: of a guy I went to Georgetown with named Paul Prosperi.
• 8:44
Speaker 1: I think that's right. And I saw in all these
• 8:46
Speaker 1: things that my staff gave me that he was mentioned,
• 8:49
Speaker 1: but I don't think anybody said anything to me. I
• 8:52
Speaker 1: have no memory of that. Question, so it's your testimony
• 8:54
Speaker 1: today that he... And actually, let me back up here.
• 8:59
Speaker 1: According to jail logs, Mr. Prosperi visited Epstein... at least
• 9:02
Speaker 1: 20 times while Epstein was incarcerated in Palm Beach County
• 9:06
Speaker 1: Jail between 2008 and 2009. Based on what you just said,
• 9:11
Speaker 1: is it your testimony that you believed that to be
• 9:14
Speaker 1: the son of the man you went to college with? Answer,
• 9:17
Speaker 1: it could be, but he didn't talk to me. Question,
• 9:21
Speaker 1: thank you, Mr. President. Last week, Les Wexner testified that
• 9:24
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein often name-dropped powerful people to give himself an
• 9:28
Speaker 1: air of credibility. Did he ever do that to you?
• 9:31
Speaker 1: brag about people he knew in high places? Kings and princes?
• 9:35
Speaker 1: Bill Clinton? Yeah, he did a little bit. Question, going
• 9:38
Speaker 1: back to what was mentioned earlier about the search warrant
• 9:41
Speaker 1: on October 20th in Palm Beach for Jeffrey Epstein. Ms.
• 9:45
Speaker 1: Clinton testified yesterday. I think she mentioned that it appears
• 9:49
Speaker 1: he got a sweetheart plea deal. And I don't think
• 9:51
Speaker 1: anyone on this committee would disagree with that when Alex
• 9:54
Speaker 1: Acosta was the U.S. attorney down there. And we've already
• 9:58
Speaker 1: deposed Mr. Acosta. And we've got the transcripts and everything.
• 10:02
Speaker 1: There's a lot of speculation, as had been mentioned, that
• 10:04
Speaker 1: he may have been tipped off prior to the search
• 10:07
Speaker 1: warrant that Jeffrey Epstein may have been tipped off. Are
• 10:10
Speaker 1: you aware of whether or not Sandy Berger may have
• 10:13
Speaker 1: tipped off Jeffrey Epstein? Lawyer jumps in. The president just
• 10:17
Speaker 1: testified that he was unaware that anybody had been tipped off.
• 10:21
Speaker 1: So if you're asking him to, Bill Clinton jumps in.
• 10:24
Speaker 1: This explains why I asked yesterday about him. But no,
• 10:27
Speaker 1: I know nothing about that, and I wouldn't. Question, and Mr.
• 10:31
Speaker 1: Epstein was indicted by a grand jury on July 19, 2006.
• 10:36
Speaker 1: According to an IRS form, 990, filed by the COUQ Foundation,
• 10:41
Speaker 1: a known Epstein entity, Mr. Epstein donated $ 25, 000 to the
• 10:45
Speaker 1: William J. Clinton Foundation one day prior to Mr. Epstein's indictment.
• 10:50
Speaker 1: Are you aware of this donation? Answer, I know that
• 10:53
Speaker 1: they told me that the record showed that he'd given $ 25, 000. Question,
• 10:57
Speaker 1: when did you become aware of that, Mr. President? Were
• 11:00
Speaker 1: you aware of that then or in preparation? Answer, no, no,
• 11:04
Speaker 1: I mean when I was preparing for this. Question, yes, sir,
• 11:08
Speaker 1: did you solicit that donation from Mr. Epstein? Answer, not personally,
• 11:12
Speaker 1: I didn't know. Question, did someone else solicit it? Answer,
• 11:16
Speaker 1: I have no idea. Question, do you even know why Mr.
• 11:18
Speaker 1: Epstein made that donation? Lawyer jumps in. He's asking you
• 11:22
Speaker 1: to speculate about what Mr. Epstein would be thinking. Clinton,
• 11:26
Speaker 1: we're trying to raise a fair amount of money every
• 11:28
Speaker 1: year to pay the bills. Question, it seems to me
• 11:32
Speaker 1: his investigators were narrowing in on Mr. Epstein. He may
• 11:36
Speaker 1: have been trying to earn some goodwill with you. What
• 11:38
Speaker 1: do you think about that? Bill Clinton, it wouldn't work.
• 11:41
Speaker 1: Question right. Did it ever seem to you that Jeffrey
• 11:43
Speaker 1: Epstein was trying to suck up to you or get
• 11:46
Speaker 1: on your good side in order to further his schemes? Answer. No,
• 11:50
Speaker 1: I didn't think about it that way. I thought he
• 11:52
Speaker 1: wanted to do what he said. Question. After his arrest
• 11:56
Speaker 1: in 2006, did you have any further contact with Mr. Epstein? Answer.
• 12:00
Speaker 1: I don't believe I did. No. Question. Did anyone affiliated
• 12:04
Speaker 1: with Epstein, including Maxwell, contact you on behalf of Jeffrey
• 12:07
Speaker 1: Epstein to discuss his arrest and the allegations against him? Clinton, no. Question,
• 12:13
Speaker 1: did they ever ask, either Jeffrey Epstein or Ms. Maxwell,
• 12:16
Speaker 1: ever ask you for their assistance once Epstein was in trouble? Answer, no. Question,
• 12:21
Speaker 1: or once Ms. Maxwell was in trouble? Answer, no. Question,
• 12:25
Speaker 1: did Jeffrey Epstein ever attempt to contact you while he
• 12:28
Speaker 1: was incarcerated in Florida? Answer, no. Question, he didn't ever
• 12:32
Speaker 1: attempt to contact you? Bill Clinton, not as far as
• 12:35
Speaker 1: I know. Question, yesterday during the deposition of Secretary Clinton,
• 12:39
Speaker 1: She suggested that we follow the money with Epstein, because
• 12:42
Speaker 1: there's a big question, how did he accumulate so much wealth?
• 12:46
Speaker 1: And I think you had testified earlier, and if I'm wrong,
• 12:48
Speaker 1: feel free to correct me, that you didn't really know
• 12:50
Speaker 1: how he made his money. I mean, he had a
• 12:52
Speaker 1: big plane. Clinton, I knew that he had made an
• 12:55
Speaker 1: extraordinary amount of money from Les Wexner, who was quite wealthy.
• 12:59
Speaker 1: I had no idea whether he had made enough to
• 13:01
Speaker 1: support the lifestyle that I saw. Question, and I assume
• 13:05
Speaker 1: that you were aware that Mr. Wexner testified under oath.
• 13:08
Speaker 1: that he acted like he really didn't know Jeffrey Epstein
• 13:10
Speaker 1: very well, which is kind of hard to believe, because
• 13:13
Speaker 1: he paid him a lot of money. Clinton, yeah, he
• 13:16
Speaker 1: made him. But you never know. Question, yeah, well, one
• 13:21
Speaker 1: of the things, when we concluded the deposition yesterday, we
• 13:24
Speaker 1: asked Secretary Clinton for her advice moving forward in the investigation.
• 13:28
Speaker 1: And with respect to a statement that she made yesterday,
• 13:31
Speaker 1: and was something that we've done on the committee, the
• 13:34
Speaker 1: majority has done on the committee in the past, we've
• 13:37
Speaker 1: followed the money. We've subpoenaed bank records. We've subpoenaed suspicious
• 13:40
Speaker 1: activity reports from Treasury. Those were some of the things Ms.
• 13:44
Speaker 1: Clinton suggested. And in order to do that, obviously, we
• 13:47
Speaker 1: have to subpoena banks, specific banks for specific accounts. Do
• 13:52
Speaker 1: you ever recall in the conversations you had with Mr. Epstein,
• 13:55
Speaker 1: any particular bank that he was affiliated with or any
• 13:58
Speaker 1: particular big banks that maybe he had deals with? Answer, no,
• 14:02
Speaker 1: he never asked me. Question, okay. Jack Emmer, with that,
• 14:07
Speaker 1: we can go off the record. They come back on.
• 14:10
Speaker 1: New speaker. We can go back on the record. Mr. President,
• 14:13
Speaker 1: I just wanted to clarify one thing from the previous round.
• 14:16
Speaker 1: Our understanding of your testimony today is that with respect
• 14:19
Speaker 1: to the dinner with Ms. Maxwell in Los Angeles, you
• 14:22
Speaker 1: are not actually sure whether or not that dinner occurred. Clinton,
• 14:25
Speaker 1: that's correct. Question, is that correct? Bill Clinton, that's correct. Question,
• 14:30
Speaker 1: thank you. As we start to close, is there anything
• 14:33
Speaker 1: that you would like to add or clarify about what
• 14:35
Speaker 1: you've said here today? Lawyer, you're good. Bill Clinton, what? Lawyer,
• 14:39
  Speaker 1: you're good. Clinton, I think we're fine. I'm struggling because
• 14:43
Speaker 1: it's hard to know exactly what I knew when I
• 14:45
Speaker 1: knew it, given what I've learned since. It's become kind
• 14:49
Speaker 1: of a compelling challenge, but I've tried to tell you
• 14:52
Speaker 1: what I knew then. And when you ask what I
• 14:55
Speaker 1: think I know, I think you have, all of you, Mr. Chairman,
• 14:59
Speaker 1: you've had to chronologically challenging this thing. You've got all
• 15:03
Speaker 1: this stuff that happened with Jeffrey Epstein, some of it
• 15:06
Speaker 1: as regards to President Trump, going back to the late 90s.
• 15:09
Speaker 1: And that's a long time ago. And then what we
• 15:12
Speaker 1: learn later, it's been difficult. But I have enjoyed it.
• 15:15
Speaker 1: You've been very respectful to me and have given me
• 15:17
Speaker 1: a chance to talk to you. Question, well, thank you
• 15:20
Speaker 1: for your time, Clinton. And I wish you well. I
• 15:24
Speaker 1: still will say, if you can think of some things
• 15:27
Speaker 1: to do to reduce the incidence of trafficking in America,
• 15:29
Speaker 1: and it should be possible for us to virtually eliminate
• 15:33
Speaker 1: underage abuse, it should be. We just got to figure
• 15:35
Speaker 1: out what kind of technology we need and what kind
• 15:38
Speaker 1: of policies. Thank you. Question. And the answers that you
• 15:42
Speaker 1: provided today are the best to your recollection. Is that correct?
• 15:46
Speaker 1: Bill Clinton. Yeah, the answers I provided today are what
• 15:49
Speaker 1: I believe at the time and what I think was
• 15:51
Speaker 1: in my heart, including about previous testimony. Speaker. Great. Thank you.
• 15:59
Speaker 1: Unless there's anything else you would like to share, we
• 16:02
Speaker 1: can go off the record. All right, folks, that's going
• 16:04
Speaker 1: to do it for the Bill Clinton testimony that he
• 16:07
Speaker 1: gave to Congress. All the information that goes with this
• 16:10
Speaker 1: episode can be found in the description box.
