- 0:47What do I got to do? I got nothing else to do except
- 0:50for actually, this gentleman actually invited me to do
- 0:51something tonight, so I will have to cut it off at some point
- 0:54tonight. So, hey, introduce yourself.
- 0:56And welcome to the live version of the Guild Connections
- 0:58podcast. Hey.
- 0:59Thanks, Mike. Thanks for having us, Lane
- 1:01Anderson, I'm with BOOST Treadmills.
- 1:03We're in the micro gravity treadmill space.
- 1:06I spent 27 years in Interstate athletics, Pacific Track and
- 1:09Field at Auburn University, University of Iowa, Texas Tech
- 1:12and University of Tennessee. So IN2018I transitioned out of
- 1:16that into a new chapter in my life.
- 1:19Professionally, personally with with my wife and kids and it's
- 1:22it's been a great transition but beauty of my job is it keeps me
- 1:25coming to the convention and to track meeting events like like
- 1:29this with you. Yeah, you know, Lane, I came out
- 1:31if we met when you were at Auburn.
- 1:32I know for sure in the Iowa space.
- 1:35For sure. But I was always impressed with
- 1:37just your breadth of knowledge and everywhere that you have
- 1:39been. You've always had success.
- 1:41I mean, that's just kind of the cool thing about your coaching
- 1:43and your coaching style. Talk to us.
- 1:45You know, there's a lot of coaches that I don't know.
- 1:47If you get this, I bet you do. As someone who used to coach
- 1:49myself, I get a lot of, hey, what's it like on the other
- 1:53side? Still involved in track and
- 1:55field, but you're not coaching. How was your experience been?
- 1:57It's it's been wonderful. I mean, you know, I I had an
- 2:00opportunity probably two or three years before that when I
- 2:02was at Iowa, before I moved to Tennessee and.
- 2:05This wasn't a good time for me personally, professionally, but
- 2:08but when Boost Treadmills called and I, probably the most
- 2:12difficult conversation I ever had was with Beth at Tennessee
- 2:14and just letting her know that I was going a different direction.
- 2:17But she was incredible and supporting my decision and it's
- 2:20great on the other side. Obviously I miss a lot about
- 2:22track and field, the energy, the student athletes, the the
- 2:25building of relationships with families, but this provides me a
- 2:28lot more weekends at home. A lot more flexibility I I work
- 2:32remotely so you know I I find a coffee shop in Knoxville and I
- 2:36work when I'm not on the road and and my my time away is is
- 2:39greatly reduced which which is. Been well received.
- 2:43So tell me more about boost treadmill.
- 2:44You know, as you could probably imagine, I'm not on the
- 2:47treadmill very much, but I probably need a boost to get on
- 2:49it. Tell me, what is boost
- 2:50treadmills? What do?
- 2:51You guys do. We, our our founders, started
- 2:53Alter G many, many years ago and their goal was always to
- 2:57innovate and to improve functionality to to improve
- 3:00affordability. More importantly, I bought 2
- 3:03Alter G's when I was at Iowa. They were eighty $90,000 a
- 3:07piece. So we we've been able to improve
- 3:09the technology but bring the price down.
- 3:11So we've been in in business since 2018.
- 3:14We've got over 400 machines out in in collegiate athletics, just
- 3:18just this past outdoor championships.
- 3:21In Eugene for instance, there were nine trophies awarded
- 3:24because there was a tie on the women's side.
- 3:25I think for 4th and Boost, customers earned eight of those
- 3:29trophies at the recent NCAA Cross Country Championships,
- 3:32seven of the top ten men's and women's teams.
- 3:35Boost customers. So we've really come in and
- 3:37taking the space, we've got a lot of folks who came from a
- 3:39track and field background and again, we offer great products
- 3:43that's at a price .40 to $45,000 and it's just a lot easier to
- 3:47manage when it comes to fitting it into your budget.
- 3:49And I love what you said there. You didn't use this word.
- 3:52I'm going to put the word in your mouth.
- 3:53Authenticity. Regarding the Hey, there's a guy
- 3:56who did it as a coaching space. With this.
- 3:58And now you're talking to coaches with this.
- 4:00You're not coming from just those sales or engineering
- 4:02backgrounds like, Oh no, I was in the muck.
- 4:04I did it right where you were doing it.
- 4:06I love that authenticity for news.
- 4:07Check. No.
- 4:07And and you know, it's technology.
- 4:09My iPhone glitches from time to time after, takes it to Sprint
- 4:13store. I mean, it's technology.
- 4:14You're going to have an issue. I wish I could tell you
- 4:16something and tell you for the next 15 years, you're never
- 4:18going to have a single problem. And one of the things that we
- 4:21stand by in that in that commitment is that, hey, you
- 4:23have my cell phone number. If I sold you a machine, you
- 4:25call me. I'm going to have our head
- 4:27technician in touch with within within an hour or two and we're
- 4:30going to we're going to diagnose this task and more importantly
- 4:33create a plan to get you back in action because the machine never
- 4:36goes down at the most opportune time and when it goes down you
- 4:40all you want us to know that somebody's going to put their
- 4:42attention into getting it going again and that's that's been Our
- 4:45Calling card. I think that's a big reason why
- 4:47we've been able to capture a large percentage of.
- 4:50The bleeding approach. So give me the 32nd version.
- 4:53What is the difference between a boost treadmill and a regular
- 4:56when I go to the gym? Yes, I go to the gym treadmill.
- 4:58What's the difference? Why?
- 5:00What's the 40,000? What's?
- 5:01Been we basically are using air pressure to to create lift and
- 5:05reduce impact. So I can put you on there in 1%
- 5:08increments down to 20% of your body weight.
- 5:10I can run you on a treadmill at a speed up to 18 miles an hour
- 5:14at an incline up to 15%. So it's great in the
- 5:17rehabilitation space, it's great in the recovery space.
- 5:20In the in the sports performance space at 18 miles an hour you're
- 5:23going 50 seconds for the meter speed.
- 5:25So it's it's an over speed training tool for a lot of folks
- 5:28and it's I've never. That was probably why I joined
- 5:31boost treadmills when you can imagine my wife's this May, when
- 5:35I came and had a conversation at the dinner table said, hey I'd
- 5:37like to go to boost treadmill shit.
- 5:39We want to leave a job at the University of Tennessee to sell
- 5:41treadmills and no discredit to treadmill sales that around the
- 5:46world but it's just a product I believed in that's a product
- 5:49that I know works and it's a product that you don't have to
- 5:52sell. It sells itself and at that
- 5:54price point it's it's not like taking candy from a baby at
- 5:57Halloween. But it's it's been a much easier
- 6:01sell and we've got high schools and NAI Division Three, division
- 6:04two schools that use our product as much as.
- 6:07Power 5 school. So, well, I know for people that
- 6:10are here at the convention themselves, you have a boots.
- 6:12They can check it out for all of us online and for future
- 6:14podcasts and stuff. Where can they reach BOOST
- 6:16treadmills? Just go online boost
- 6:17treadmills.com and we have a machine here.
- 6:20We make we have a machine here so coaches can come by and check
- 6:23it out run on it. You know we we've got our event
- 6:26tonight that you're coming to and yeah we're just excited to
- 6:29be here and and support the coaches.
- 6:31We know the challenge. We know the grind.
- 6:33We all lived at 8090 hours a week, week after week after
- 6:36week, away from your families. There's a tremendous amount of
- 6:39sacrifice in it and if we can help in any way and outside of
- 6:43just selling you a product, that's what we're here.
- 6:44For I love it. So Boost treadmills.com.
- 6:47I love it. All right, man.
- 6:47We're in every interview with a selfie here.
- 6:51You look much better than I do in that one, man.
- 6:53Thanks for joining us. I appreciate you man.
