- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. I am Lucas. Luna: And I am Luna. It is so good to be here again. Lucas: Yes. Today we look at two mental verbs. One is very common. Luna: Right. We use them every day. Let us start with the first one. Lucas: Okay. The first verb is "å tenke". It means "to think". Luna: "Å tenke". Okay. I like that word. It sounds soft. Lucas: It does. Now, listen carefully. When you think about a person... Luna: Like when you miss someone? Or just have them on your mind? Lucas: Exactly. You say "jeg tenker på deg". It means "I think of you". Luna: "Jeg tenker på deg". Let me try that. Jeg... tenker... på... deg. Lucas: That was perfect. "På" is the key here. It connects you to the thought. Luna: So if I am walking down the street, and I see my friend... Lucas: You might say, "Oh, jeg tenker på deg". But not out loud! That would be weird. Luna: Nooo way. Right. Okay. So "tenker på" is for thoughts about people. Lucas: Yes. And what about the second verb? This one is different. Luna: Is it "å tro"? I think I have heard this one before. Lucas: Spot on. "Å tro" means "to believe" or "to think" in a different way. Luna: How is it different from "tenke"? They both feel like thinking. Lucas: Good question. "Tenke" is active. You process information. "Tro" is more like faith. Luna: Faith. Like trust? Or belief in a fact? Lucas: Both. For example, if you trust someone, you say "jeg tror på deg". Luna: "Jeg tror på deg". That means "I believe in you"? Lucas: Yes. It shows support. It shows you have confidence in them. Luna: Oh, I love that. It feels warmer than just thinking about them. Lucas: It is. So let us practice. "Jeg tror på deg". Say it slowly. Luna: Jeg... tror... på... deg. I believe in you. Lucas: Excellent. Now, imagine your friend is nervous before a big test. Luna: What would you say to encourage them? Lucas: You could say, "Tro meg". It means "Trust me" or "Believe me". Luna: "Tro meg". Short and powerful. I can use that. Lucas: You can. It is very useful. Now, let us mix them up a bit. Luna: Okay. Give me a sentence with "tenke". Lucas: Try saying, "Jeg tenker på maten min". I am thinking about my food. Luna: Jeg tenker på maten min. Yes. Because I am hungry right now. Lucas: I hear you. Okay, now one with "tro". Try this: Luna: Go ahead. Lucas: "Jeg tror det er sant". I believe it is true. Luna: Jeg tror det er sant. Got it. So "tro" is for facts too. Lucas: Yes. Opinions, facts, faith. "Tro" covers all those bases. Luna: And "tenke" is for the mental action. The processing. Lucas: Exactly. You think, then you believe. Or you believe because you thought. Luna: Deep stuff. I like it. Let us do one more quick phrase. Lucas: Sure. How about "tenk etter"? It means "think about it" or "consider". Luna: "Tenk etter". Like, take some time to think it over? Lucas: Yes. If someone asks you a big question, you say "tenk etter". Luna: Tenk etter. Okay. I will remember that one. Lucas: Good. Let us review the main ones quickly. Luna: Ready. Lucas: "Å tenke". To think actively. Luna: And "jeg tenker på deg". Thinking of you. Lucas: "Å tro". To believe or trust. Luna: And "jeg tror på deg". Believing in you. Lucas: Perfect. You are doing great. Keep practicing these. Luna: I will. They feel natural already. Thanks, Lucas. Lucas: Anytime. Before we go, I want to share something personal. Luna: Sure. What is on your mind? Lucas: Well, creating these episodes takes time and effort. It is not cheap. Luna: I know. The audio quality is really high. It costs money to make. Lucas: Exactly. There are no ads. We rely on listeners who care about the show. Luna: Yeah. It is nice to support something directly. Lucas: If you want to help, you can go to buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: That is right. A small monthly contribution keeps us going. Remember, "tenk etter" if you are unsure. Luna: Yes. Think it through. Trust your progress. Lucas: See you next time. Practice makes perfect. Luna: Ha det bra! Bye!
