Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: All right, Well, you know, a couple of weeks ago,
- 0:07Speaker 1: mister Met and Missus Mett hugged very happily Zora Mamdani.
- 0:11Speaker 1: And since that hug there's been an eleven game losing
- 0:14Speaker 1: streak for the Mets that's been dire. And also they
- 0:17Speaker 1: removed Jewish heritage night, Ryan Pagano, I'm gonna get your
- 0:20Speaker 1: thoughts on a prior show that pretty much stand for
- 0:23Speaker 1: today as well. But eleven losses later, is there a
- 0:26Speaker 1: Mumdani effect here?
- 0:29Speaker 2: See, there's a fair argument to be had for that.
- 0:32Speaker 2: But that being said, I don't think this has to
- 0:35Speaker 2: do with the fact that the mayor was hugging mister
- 0:38Speaker 2: and Missus Mett. Now, look, you could say what you
- 0:40Speaker 2: want about the mascots being quote anti semites in the end,
- 0:43Speaker 2: but I think this more has to do with the
- 0:47Speaker 2: actual roster construction that took place over the offseason and
- 0:51Speaker 2: the fact that a lot of the key guys that
- 0:53Speaker 2: they were hoping would turn the tide they just haven't
- 0:57Speaker 2: panned out, at least not yet. And I mean right,
- 1:00Speaker 2: and it's only about a month into the season, so
- 1:02Speaker 2: they're still very much as a chance for this to
- 1:04Speaker 2: turn around. But so far, Alex, thanks are not looking good.
- 1:08Speaker 2: And those thoughts from that earlier show that you're gonna
- 1:11Speaker 2: bring up soon, those points very much still stand now,
- 1:15Speaker 2: all right.
- 1:15Speaker 1: And on that note, let's get to that conversation with
- 1:17Speaker 1: Lutherterminello Ryan Pagano record on April sixteenth, and they still
- 1:21Speaker 1: haven't won a games since. How about that? As mel
- 1:24Speaker 1: Allen would say, all right, well, you know we've done.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Ryan just jumped in, and then this is the baseball
- 1:29Speaker 1: section now, So I tell Ryan I'm going to city
- 1:32Speaker 1: Field and he r rolls off the tip of his
- 1:36Speaker 1: tongue all the problems with the Mets, like he was
- 1:38Speaker 1: doing a podcast with me. This kid's fired up about
- 1:41Speaker 1: how bad the Mets are looking. And and you know,
- 1:45Speaker 1: I saw someone google questions for baseball losses, and my question,
- 1:51Speaker 1: in Carlos Mendoza, would be, so are you going to
- 1:54Speaker 1: forfeit the did you want to forfeit any of the
- 1:55Speaker 1: games against LA or did you just want to lose
- 1:58Speaker 1: all about there? Which it's a very frustrating time for
- 2:02Speaker 1: Met fans, is it not?
- 2:03Speaker 3: Oh, there's no question about it about it. I mean,
- 2:07Speaker 3: and look, I get it.
- 2:08Speaker 2: You face the Dodgers, You're kind of bound to be
- 2:11Speaker 2: swept one way or another there, But you think that
- 2:16Speaker 2: this group that still touchs themselves as a playoff contender
- 2:20Speaker 2: would add the bare minimum at least be able to
- 2:23Speaker 2: keep things somewhat competitive and not roll over and die.
- 2:29Speaker 2: How is it that MJ. Melendez, a man who hit
- 2:34Speaker 2: below one hundred just last year?
- 2:36Speaker 3: How is it that MJ.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Melendez in a starting lineup of a team that is
- 2:40Speaker 2: supposed to be a playoff contender.
- 2:41Speaker 3: How is he the one consistent bat that the Mets have?
- 2:45Speaker 3: I do not understand better yet.
- 2:47Speaker 2: When we were having this phone call, Alex on Sunday,
- 2:50Speaker 2: you were going to the game, and I just was
- 2:53Speaker 2: befuddled with Carlos Mendoza's lineup because and here here I go,
- 2:58Speaker 2: I'm about to do this again, do it?
- 3:01Speaker 3: How is it that Jared Young is the number three hitter?
- 3:03Speaker 2: How is it that Francisco Lindor, who I genuinely believe
- 3:08Speaker 2: might have a hidden concussion at this point, I'm not
- 3:10Speaker 2: here to speculate.
- 3:11Speaker 4: On that, but I agree with you he might have.
- 3:15Speaker 2: That Francisco Lindor, even with his struggles, is still hitting
- 3:18Speaker 2: lead off like nothing has happened. And better yet Luis
- 3:22Speaker 2: Robert Francisco Alvarez your two best bats.
- 3:26Speaker 3: How is it that they're on the bench.
- 3:27Speaker 2: And look, I got it. You want to give him
- 3:29Speaker 2: a day off, so be it. But even then, and
- 3:31Speaker 2: Pola Duca was what on his twitter? Why not have
- 3:34Speaker 2: Algarez be the DH. There were a lot of questions
- 3:38Speaker 2: here that I did not understand. As far as I'll
- 3:43Speaker 2: give you my I'll give you my.
- 3:48Speaker 5: Theory on it that when I, first of all, I'm
- 3:51Speaker 5: not a fan of and you guys know this, I'm
- 3:54Speaker 5: not a fan of any of the moves that the
- 3:56Speaker 5: Mets made, with the exception of the Peralta move, and
- 3:59Speaker 5: I'm only luke warm on that. I was never a
- 4:04Speaker 5: fan of Louis Robert. I was never a fan of Simeon. Now,
- 4:11Speaker 5: I mean he's obviously he hasn't that he's This is
- 4:15Speaker 5: not the Simon with forty five home runs in twenty
- 4:17Speaker 5: three or the thirty three and twenty two. It's not
- 4:20Speaker 5: the same guy offensively, And if you're going to trade Nimo,
- 4:23Speaker 5: you got to trade him for us something better than Simeon.
- 4:26Speaker 4: But I would have kept I would have kept Nimo.
- 4:28Speaker 4: He gets on base, he does what the analytics want
- 4:31Speaker 4: him to do. But in the postgame press conference when
- 4:35Speaker 4: somebody asked him, why don't you put Robert up for.
- 4:40Speaker 5: Tyron Taylor in the eighth inning, and he said, well,
- 4:43Speaker 5: that means we'd have to put him in the field
- 4:45Speaker 5: in the ninth inning. He played five straight games, got
- 4:48Speaker 5: in my opinion reading through that the analytic guys, the
- 4:54Speaker 5: guys on their swin bicycles from Dartmouth College and Yale
- 5:00Speaker 5: home to Citney Field every day. Taulas said, Louis Robert
- 5:05Speaker 5: has to sit the whole game. I don't think I
- 5:09Speaker 5: could be wrong, but that's and Mendel was just going
- 5:13Speaker 5: to take.
- 5:13Speaker 4: The fall for this.
- 5:15Speaker 5: As as the Mets continue to stumble, he'll be gone.
- 5:20Speaker 4: I don't know who's going to be the new.
- 5:22Speaker 5: Manager, but this is on David Stearns. I mean, you
- 5:26Speaker 5: could tell me all about run prevention, Ryan Alex. How
- 5:31Speaker 5: can you have run prevention when a guy who can
- 5:33Speaker 5: be a pretty good.
- 5:34Speaker 4: Hit hitter and he's still pretty fairly young, he's in
- 5:37Speaker 4: his mid twenties. Brett Eddie's playing right field one game,
- 5:41Speaker 4: then left field, then DH then first base.
- 5:46Speaker 3: What do that mean? What they mean by run prevention?
- 5:49Speaker 4: Though?
- 5:50Speaker 2: They're really just taking an emphasis on run prevention, but
- 5:53Speaker 2: in the opposite direction. See, they don't want their own
- 5:56Speaker 2: lineup getting runs, and so they're taking this alternate idea
- 6:00Speaker 2: of run prevention and just applying it to their own team,
- 6:03Speaker 2: and not in the way that the term run prevention
- 6:06Speaker 2: usually is defined. So the old rivince they're just self
- 6:11Speaker 2: sabotaging themselves.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Yeah, wait no, yeah, yeah, that's a good take on it.
- 6:18Speaker 6: But I wonder, and I wonder what is in the
- 6:23Speaker 6: back of David Steren's mind.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Does he really care about this year?
- 6:28Speaker 6: Is he just throwing this year and he has something
- 6:31Speaker 6: else as he tries to make the Mets Dodger like
- 6:35Speaker 6: in their.
- 6:35Speaker 5: Approach and trying to continue to build up the farm system,
- 6:40Speaker 5: which he did, did a good job really quickly. I
- 6:42Speaker 5: gotta give him credit for that the Mets. Do you know,
- 6:46Speaker 5: Mets had had prospects. I don't know what his game is,
- 6:50Speaker 5: but he has he outsmart himself. I mean, I don't
- 6:53Speaker 5: care run prevention. How I don't care that Alonso couldn't
- 6:57Speaker 5: make a throat off plate. How many times over a
- 6:59Speaker 5: course of one hundre sixty two games do you have
- 7:01Speaker 5: to throw it a home plate eighty nine the most
- 7:06Speaker 5: and again Fitt even in the band year at thirty.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Five home runs and driving one hundred and ten runs.
- 7:13Speaker 4: So why are you gonna replace that offensive production?
- 7:16Speaker 5: Nimo was gonna have an on base percentage of about
- 7:18Speaker 5: three sixty to three eighty.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I mean, well, that's an it's funny mention that. So
- 7:25Speaker 1: I was at City Field the day and I saw
- 7:28Speaker 1: they don't put the averages up. They're putting the on
- 7:30Speaker 1: base plus slugging, and I'm like, there's no way, I
- 7:34Speaker 1: forget it was up his batting five to eleven. And
- 7:36Speaker 1: then I see it's the on base plus slugging, and
- 7:40Speaker 1: I'm like, they're really going the extra mile to make
- 7:43Speaker 1: it look like the team's doing well. Because anybody look
- 7:46Speaker 1: at that board, Yeah that's right. Anybody looking at that
- 7:48Speaker 1: leaderboard Lederbol would say, boy, these are really hitting five
- 7:52Speaker 1: eighty is like, no.
- 7:54Speaker 4: He's not.
- 7:55Speaker 1: It's just funny. So I did know how weird for
- 7:58Speaker 1: you know, it's frustrating.
- 8:00Speaker 4: And guys, don't get me wrong, I do believe in data.
- 8:04Speaker 4: I do believe in data.
- 8:05Speaker 5: But in the body eighth thing if I need and
- 8:08Speaker 5: I'm down one nothing like they were on Sunday to
- 8:10Speaker 5: the Athletics, and I need somebody to possibly.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Hit a bomb.
- 8:13Speaker 5: And I am not a fan of Robert Jr. I'm not,
- 8:17Speaker 5: but again, he gives you a shot.
- 8:21Speaker 3: If you wrong me, you's your best bag. You got
- 8:23Speaker 3: to throw him up there one way or nothing.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Yet that absolute eight chance.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Wow, just stay in this game and your best bet
- 8:31Speaker 2: it's faring away Rock, no question about it.
- 8:34Speaker 1: All right, let's switch. Let's switch Burrows. Because I was
- 8:36Speaker 1: in the Bronx and I think I've told you guys
- 8:38Speaker 1: why you both know. I was up in the Bronx
- 8:40Speaker 1: for Monday's slugfest between Trout and Judge. I got a
- 8:43Speaker 1: picture of Trout sitting in the home plate. A second later,
- 8:47Speaker 1: he hits a three run, He hits a game tying homer,
- 8:50Speaker 1: going on the hit five in this series, and I mean,
- 8:54Speaker 1: we don't know what he has left, as Lew was
- 8:56Speaker 1: telling me, But the Angels are ten and ten, and
- 8:59Speaker 1: I know it's early, but for a team that's barely
- 9:02Speaker 1: done anything, that's pretty impressive, especially against the Yankees, who
- 9:06Speaker 1: look still like they're trying to figure it. They look
- 9:09Speaker 1: sputtering a little bit still. I have to say they
- 9:12Speaker 1: don't look put together.
- 9:14Speaker 7: No, I would agree with you and Alex. They should
- 9:17Speaker 7: have been swept. They should have lost all four games.
- 9:20Speaker 7: Your buddy Piazza gave his old team last night or
- 9:24Speaker 7: they would have lost last night.
- 9:26Speaker 5: And Jordan Rama though a horrendous relief pitcher.
- 9:30Speaker 4: I can't believe that's going to kill if Angels ol.
- 9:33Speaker 5: He's not a closer. I mean he gifted one the
- 9:36Speaker 5: other night. Yankees should have been swept in this series.
- 9:39Speaker 5: They really should have.
- 9:41Speaker 1: By the way, Crowd's five in the series is most
- 9:44Speaker 1: by any visiting player versus the Yankees, So that's an
- 9:47Speaker 1: interesting stat line. Right.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Well, I'll tell you one.
- 9:51Speaker 5: His bat speed is unless and again I am no
- 9:54Speaker 5: hitting coach. It looks like his bat speed boys is
- 9:57Speaker 5: still there. I don't know if you did that.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I mean I was in the left field when he
- 10:02Speaker 1: hit that homer on Monday night, the first one to
- 10:04Speaker 1: tie it. It got out in a hurry, like it's
- 10:07Speaker 1: off the bat and boom, it's in the angel bullpen.
- 10:09Speaker 1: So yeah, he's got it pretty fast still.
- 10:12Speaker 5: So well, I was watching like money had game today
- 10:15Speaker 5: and he was at the plate when he hit that
- 10:17Speaker 5: four hundred and what was forty seven foot bomb today.
- 10:20Speaker 5: That thing got out in seconds like he was like
- 10:23Speaker 5: he like he like when he was twenty five years old.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Well, no, I'm happy for. You know, that's the guy
- 10:31Speaker 1: I'm happy for because, as we all know, we got
- 10:33Speaker 1: saddled with this horrible contract that's just been i mean,
- 10:38Speaker 1: locked him in for ten years like that.
- 10:39Speaker 4: That's just horrible injuries.
- 10:44Speaker 1: And that's almost been the Angels car. But I feel
- 10:46Speaker 1: like anyway, it'll it'll be interesting now. I want to
- 10:49Speaker 1: because lose a media guy. So thoughts on Sunday Night
- 10:53Speaker 1: Baseball NBC presentation. Did you like that? I think this
- 10:56Speaker 1: was the first one this past weekend.
- 11:00Speaker 4: H Well, no, it wasn't the first one because a
- 11:03Speaker 4: couple of weeks they've been on Peacock. They were on
- 11:05Speaker 4: that first game onc.
- 11:08Speaker 5: I like, yeah, I like Jason Bennetti as a play
- 11:12Speaker 5: by play guy.
- 11:14Speaker 4: I prefer a full time analysts. I don't like these
- 11:22Speaker 4: guests analysts coming in. I really don't.
- 11:25Speaker 5: But as far as the production goes, it's it's it's fine.
- 11:32Speaker 1: I love the drone effect. I really I've noticed that
- 11:35Speaker 1: the drones all over. I love that effect. Actually, the
- 11:39Speaker 1: drones are making the production look good on all the
- 11:41Speaker 1: different works by the way.
- 11:48Speaker 4: Yeah, but I mean the production was fine. The production
- 11:55Speaker 4: was fine, you know.
- 11:57Speaker 5: So it's just the space full games on as basketball,
- 12:02Speaker 5: and uh, they're all.
- 12:04Speaker 4: On every network.
- 12:08Speaker 5: It's you really gotta even I forget where when where
- 12:12Speaker 5: do I go to?
- 12:13Speaker 4: Do I go to Amazon Prime? Do I go Prime Video?
- 12:15Speaker 4: Do I go to ESPN? Do I go to ESPN Plus?
- 12:19Speaker 1: My friends like, where's the last night I was on Prime?
- 12:22Speaker 1: I mean, it's kind of crazy, but.
- 12:24Speaker 2: See, don't you remember when when those Prime games will
- 12:27Speaker 2: be on Picks eleven or even on Channel nine.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Yes, those were, Yeah, those are That's not.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm very much nostalgic for that.
- 12:40Speaker 4: Really.
- 12:41Speaker 5: And again, guys, guys, you know when when I was
- 12:46Speaker 5: your announcers, Netflix has the home run Derby.
- 12:52Speaker 3: And I got only know Netflix has what that could
- 12:55Speaker 3: be because.
- 12:56Speaker 1: It's anyway looking night, was any indication you were making
- 12:59Speaker 1: your point about, I know, he had a lot of
- 13:01Speaker 1: great announcers back then, to Louis that you were growing
- 13:03Speaker 1: up with.
- 13:04Speaker 5: I mean, well, right, yeah, now, And the thing is
- 13:07Speaker 5: when you listen to Frank Frank Messer, Bill White, Phil Rizzuto,
- 13:13Speaker 5: they did radio and they did TV.
- 13:18Speaker 4: Bob Murphy, Lindsay Nelson, half Kiner.
- 13:21Speaker 5: They did radio, and they did you know, they had
- 13:23Speaker 5: three or six innings on radio was ever. You know,
- 13:25Speaker 5: they rotated. They would go from the radio booth walk
- 13:29Speaker 5: down to ten twelve.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Feet to the TV booth.
- 13:34Speaker 1: You know who did that? And I think Dave Simms
- 13:36Speaker 1: did that too. I think he was on both radio
- 13:38Speaker 1: and TV for Mariners baseball. I could be wrong, but.
- 13:41Speaker 4: Well, he did some radio. He did some radio for
- 13:45Speaker 4: the Mariners, that is correct. He's better on He's better
- 13:48Speaker 4: on TV, guys than radio. That's just my opinion. And
- 13:52Speaker 4: I thought he was going to be fantastic on radio.
- 13:56Speaker 4: I can't say he is.
- 13:58Speaker 1: All right, we talked about the conversation about competition around
- 14:01Speaker 1: spring of David Simms and the radio and all that.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I'm just thinking back to the AL East. We were
- 14:08Speaker 1: talking about this in the off season. How improved everybody
- 14:10Speaker 1: around the AL East was except the Yankees. Yes, and
- 14:14Speaker 1: yet they are up there. I mean they're they're better
- 14:17Speaker 1: looking than all the other the whole.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Yeah, the whole division is is stumbling. The whole division
- 14:25Speaker 4: is stumbling.
- 14:25Speaker 1: So in Atlanta with the five pictures out is in
- 14:30Speaker 1: the first place for the Braves. I mean that's crazy too.
- 14:33Speaker 1: What do you think about it?
- 14:35Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 14:35Speaker 1: So, because I think they started five pictures on the injury,
- 14:39Speaker 1: had a lot of.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Box sail among them, and just to rub salt in
- 14:45Speaker 3: the wounds.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Uh. To a Mets fan like myself, who's the pitching
- 14:50Speaker 2: coach for the Braves, you may ask, that is, yeah.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Only Jeremy Haffner.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Oh wow, yeah here so yeah, that does not look
- 15:05Speaker 2: good in hindsight, but you know, the hindsight's twenty twenty
- 15:08Speaker 2: after all.
- 15:08Speaker 1: All right, one last thing. Matt Blake got ejected a
- 15:11Speaker 1: couple of weeks ago between the pitching coaches, which never
- 15:13Speaker 1: happens at pitching coach never gets thrown out. But I
- 15:16Speaker 1: want to go back to the ABS system a little bit.
- 15:18Speaker 1: I saw it at at City Field and on that
- 15:21Speaker 1: big board. It looks kind of cool how they do that,
- 15:24Speaker 1: but almost every pitch now, they're doing it, almost every pitch.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Even these guys are tipping their cap by accident.
- 15:31Speaker 3: It's a channel.
- 15:31Speaker 4: I gotta be got to be careful. You gotta be careful.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Some of these guys incident, don't mean to do it,
- 15:40Speaker 1: but then they win it anyway, it's just it's just
- 15:42Speaker 1: funny to me exactly. But these unks are scared.
- 15:47Speaker 7: Man.
- 15:47Speaker 1: I think they are a little nervous, And I bet right.
- 15:53Speaker 1: I think they're getting a little nervous that this ABS
- 15:56Speaker 1: is is UH is getting them.
- 15:59Speaker 8: They're feeling a pri row because I'm hearing them hourly
- 16:04Speaker 8: workers are doing the ABS system and not full time
- 16:07Speaker 8: employees that'll be I'm hearing.
- 16:09Speaker 1: So that's interesting. They are feeling the pressure.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Of course, they won't be feeling the pressure though, now
- 16:16Speaker 2: that they have this gigantic microscopes on how they perform
- 16:19Speaker 2: their jobs.
- 16:21Speaker 3: So I mean, I can't fault them for feeling that
- 16:23Speaker 3: way one bit. But I mean, if.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Anything, this should incentivize more to just do better at
- 16:31Speaker 2: their job.
- 16:31Speaker 1: And you're going to see. You're going to see and
- 16:33Speaker 1: Boone has been chirping already, but you will see some
- 16:37Speaker 1: of these players and coaches, if there's too many overturns,
- 16:41Speaker 1: they start getting impatient. Anyway, It's like, why aren't you
- 16:44Speaker 1: calling a good game to begin with? Why do we
- 16:46Speaker 1: have to keep using our challenges? That's gonna be the
- 16:48Speaker 1: next thing we see.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Why do we have to keep holding you accountable right
- 16:52Speaker 2: in front of tens of thousands of people and many
- 16:55Speaker 2: more watch it too.
- 16:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:58Speaker 5: Again, even when they're off, they're only off by two
- 17:02Speaker 5: an inch.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Last night it was off the plate, but that one
- 17:07Speaker 1: little corner and that's that's yeah, I mean, it's you.
- 17:10Speaker 4: Know, it's not like most of them have been so
- 17:12Speaker 4: close either way.
- 17:14Speaker 5: Last night, Oh tani Uh called for a challenge on
- 17:18Speaker 5: the pitch that was clearly high enounced high inside, and
- 17:23Speaker 5: he challenged and it was like one point nine inches off,
- 17:27Speaker 5: but you could see it that it wasn't even close.
- 17:31Speaker 1: And another how could an hourly employee manipulate the ABS system?
- 17:35Speaker 1: That's what I'm trying to figure out. I don't understand
- 17:37Speaker 1: how that would work because I don't get it. One
- 17:41Speaker 1: last thing before I let you guys go. It was
- 17:43Speaker 1: also my dad's passing yesterday. As I mentioned earlier about
- 17:47Speaker 1: two hours ago. It feels like Louis But we talked
- 17:50Speaker 1: about that to start the show. And my dad's Cubs
- 17:55Speaker 1: won yesterday and they blew out the Phillies I think
- 17:58Speaker 1: eleven to one or something. So I always believe when
- 18:01Speaker 1: these teams win in Chicago, my dad's smiling. I mean,
- 18:05Speaker 1: Caleb with the hail Mary and beat the packer, those
- 18:08Speaker 1: type of moments, you know what I mean, when when
- 18:10Speaker 1: his teams win. I feel like my dad's got a
- 18:12Speaker 1: hand in that.
- 18:13Speaker 4: So well, I'm sure, I'm sure he does. I bet
- 18:17Speaker 4: you well. He didn't root for the White Sox at all.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Correct, No, and they're six and thirteen, yeah, so he
- 18:27Speaker 1: can tell he's not really influencing them. But the Cubs
- 18:30Speaker 1: and pa. Oh, that's one of the things I want
- 18:32Speaker 1: to talk to you guys about, so Connor Griffin and
- 18:35Speaker 1: then now this mcdonagal yea locking up long term deals? Guys,
- 18:40Speaker 1: aren't we starving for legends who play for one team
- 18:44Speaker 1: their entire career? Like maybe eight years is not going
- 18:46Speaker 1: to be enough. But the idea is, I love that
- 18:49Speaker 1: these kids are signing up these long term deals because
- 18:52Speaker 1: you know what I'm missing, that one team loyalty. You
- 18:55Speaker 1: haven't seen that in a long time.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Alex.
- 18:59Speaker 5: I agree with one hundred on that. Uh, that's what
- 19:03Speaker 5: the met should have done with Alonso. I mean, let's
- 19:05Speaker 5: face it, I know, I'm I know this sounds crazy,
- 19:08Speaker 5: but one hundred and fifty five million dollars over five
- 19:10Speaker 5: years isn't taking the bank.
- 19:12Speaker 4: For the new York Mets. This was all David Stern's driven.
- 19:16Speaker 4: He just didn't like the guy.
- 19:19Speaker 5: But uh yeah, and again Alonso should have been one
- 19:25Speaker 5: of those guys.
- 19:26Speaker 4: You are right, the.
- 19:27Speaker 5: Long term beginning to end, the cal ripped in type.
- 19:33Speaker 4: Yeah, you're you're a hundred percent right.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Yeah, No, I think I think and I miss it too.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Like in my era, trout hitting the last guy has
- 19:43Speaker 1: been a one guy team, the one player team. And
- 19:46Speaker 1: of course I got pissed Pools when he moved out,
- 19:49Speaker 1: because I'm like, you could have been a legend in
- 19:51Speaker 1: Saint Louis for your He still.
- 19:54Speaker 4: Is a legend. He still is a legend. But I
- 19:56Speaker 4: know what you're saying.
- 19:59Speaker 1: But they I think I think Lebron's gonna go back
- 20:01Speaker 1: to Cleveland for his final year. I think that's how
- 20:04Speaker 1: it's gonna.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Oh, it's the worst kept secret in the NBA right now.
- 20:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's probably gonna happen. I agree with you, guys.
- 20:11Speaker 3: But you know, it's something you really yearned for.
- 20:13Speaker 2: In this era of sports now where everybody's just chasing
- 20:17Speaker 2: the bag. A lot of these athletes they don't really
- 20:20Speaker 2: care nowadays about spending their same career with the same team. Like,
- 20:24Speaker 2: we're definitely over the age of as you put it,
- 20:27Speaker 2: alexyle recon junior, even Peter and David Wright.
- 20:32Speaker 3: Yeah, legends in.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Their own right that spent their careers just with the
- 20:36Speaker 2: same team.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Where have we come with this?
- 20:38Speaker 2: And you know, I got to respect these young kids
- 20:44Speaker 2: like Connor Griffin, Kevin McGonagall for signing up so early
- 20:49Speaker 2: on in their careers.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Now.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I don't know if this necessarily means they're gonna rat
- 20:53Speaker 2: with the same team, but it's definitely a very convincing
- 20:55Speaker 2: sign the fact that they're signing up long term with
- 20:58Speaker 2: so little league experience. And look to mcgonagall's credit, the
- 21:03Speaker 2: way he has started this season for the Tigers. He
- 21:05Speaker 2: looks like he might be worth every penny right now.
- 21:07Speaker 2: If he can keep going and keep doing what he's
- 21:10Speaker 2: doing out on the field day in and day out,
- 21:13Speaker 2: he's gonna be worth every penny.
- 21:15Speaker 1: And then some.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Dow and uh.
- 21:22Speaker 5: Watching these young guys play for these young you know,
- 21:25Speaker 5: play for these teams, it does gives a little juice,
- 21:30Speaker 5: you know when you're watching them.
- 21:32Speaker 1: And look, I don't mean yeah, he'll be a Dodger
- 21:37Speaker 1: if skin's in school, will get locked up by these teams.
- 21:41Speaker 1: That would be great because I mean, you know, the
- 21:43Speaker 1: Pirates need their pitching. And obviously school Ball is a
- 21:45Speaker 1: Detroit guy. I mean Troit legend right now. So I
- 21:48Speaker 1: don't know, Boris is no.
- 21:51Speaker 4: Way, no way, is gonna be no way. Scruble is
- 21:54Speaker 4: going to be.
- 21:54Speaker 5: On the on on the Tigers next year. He's gone now,
- 21:59Speaker 5: maybe means it might be different.
- 22:03Speaker 4: But uh.
- 22:06Speaker 5: Tarik will be gone by the All Star, by the
- 22:09Speaker 5: Grey deadline, or she will not resign with the uh
- 22:14Speaker 5: with the with the Targets.
- 22:15Speaker 4: That's why they signed.
- 22:18Speaker 5: Valdez from the Astros to that eight year deal Framer Valdez.
- 22:25Speaker 1: But I'm going to mention this because I see this
- 22:27Speaker 1: other day, this Elliott Cadou signed re signed with Michigan.
- 22:31Speaker 1: I mean, this is where we're at the college level too.
- 22:32Speaker 1: It's like we're celebrating when a guy resigns with the college.
- 22:36Speaker 4: You know it was You're right, Alex.
- 22:38Speaker 1: It was.
- 22:43Speaker 4: Resigned with Michigan, his agent announced. I mean, it's college basketball.
- 22:51Speaker 4: We can't call Alex. We can't call the college basketball.
- 22:53Speaker 4: We have to come up with a name for it.
- 22:55Speaker 5: Triple A basketball, NBA light because it's not basketball anymore.
- 23:03Speaker 3: I mean, it's them hoops with money involved.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Yes, and these kids are nineteen years old making these decisions.
- 23:12Speaker 1: It doesn't make sense to it, just.
- 23:15Speaker 4: Right.
- 23:16Speaker 1: And the kid that transferred from Tennessee to UCLA because
- 23:20Speaker 1: he didn't like to contract to Tennessee.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Give me a break.
- 23:22Speaker 1: By the way, the kids that transfer like this in
- 23:26Speaker 1: those fashions to me just show the kind of character
- 23:29Speaker 1: that they have, and I would stay away from them
- 23:32Speaker 1: at Bibulate College. Coach, you don't want that kind of
- 23:34Speaker 1: character on your team at that age. I'm sorry, you
- 23:37Speaker 1: just don't, because then is it worth all that baggage
- 23:39Speaker 1: just for what maybe a year before they go transfer
- 23:43Speaker 1: to their next school for more money.
- 23:45Speaker 3: I mean, I know that's what Peter.
- 23:47Speaker 5: Look at the Kansas kid, Ryan, Look at the Kansas
- 23:50Speaker 5: kid Peterson.
- 23:52Speaker 4: He played four games, you know, and he was saying
- 23:57Speaker 4: he can't play tonight because he had a pulled muscle. Uhh.
- 24:03Speaker 4: I mean, I as.
- 24:06Speaker 5: Death Ben who they're gonna draft in the top It
- 24:09Speaker 5: looks like they're gonna draft top three or four.
- 24:12Speaker 4: I hope they don't pick this guy.
- 24:15Speaker 8: Hey, where are you going?
- 24:17Speaker 1: By the way we're going on about that draft night,
- 24:19Speaker 1: are you coming over to Pier seventeen for the Jets.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Are you going to be over here for that or what?
- 24:24Speaker 1: Because you know how crazy it is they're doing in
- 24:27Speaker 1: the city.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Well, I don't know that, I'd answer would be my
- 24:33Speaker 4: favorite spot.
- 24:37Speaker 1: The Giants are having one in Hudson Yard, so I
- 24:39Speaker 1: might wander over there. I don't know yet.
- 24:40Speaker 4: We'll see, but.
- 24:44Speaker 1: You know, we always find a way, right Well, uh
- 24:47Speaker 1: but but louill give me someones why I will not
- 24:49Speaker 1: the draft. As you know, last year we called the
- 24:52Speaker 1: Travis Hunter uh pick because Luke called me with last second.
- 24:57Speaker 4: We broke it, Alex, we broke it.
- 25:00Speaker 5: We broke it at six fifty eight and checked it
- 25:03Speaker 5: and breaking into late thirteen, we broke it.
- 25:08Speaker 1: And you were riding the money because it happened that way.
- 25:10Speaker 1: And yeah, I mean, that's a guy I really felt
- 25:12Speaker 1: about because he got injured this year and anyway, I
- 25:16Speaker 1: liked that he could play both sides. Just you got
- 25:18Speaker 1: a little banged up, I.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Think, So, yeah, it happened, but hey, he'll be taking
- 25:23Speaker 2: more snaps on the defensive side of the ball.
- 25:25Speaker 3: Looks like this season it falls goes well.
- 25:28Speaker 2: So you know, for Jacksonville there's at least still a
- 25:31Speaker 2: ton of optimisms of miss Forrest.
- 25:33Speaker 3: Travis Hunter is concerned.
- 25:34Speaker 2: That he can become that true two way foolish on
- 25:38Speaker 2: both sides of the ball, the same one that they've
- 25:40Speaker 2: traded up a hole and then some to.
- 25:44Speaker 4: Shear's drafted.
- 25:45Speaker 1: All right, one last thing. I was reading the Daily
- 25:49Speaker 1: News today and I'm going to post this before the
- 25:52Speaker 1: weekend about mister Dolan being on fan or earlier in
- 25:57Speaker 1: the winter in January. You know, I didn't pick up
- 25:59Speaker 1: on this until I read the Daily News. Did you
- 26:01Speaker 1: know he was in everybody Carton in it into January
- 26:04Speaker 1: or see.
- 26:05Speaker 3: I had no idea about that. But I'm also just
- 26:06Speaker 3: questioning by car late in April.
- 26:10Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, I'm not interesting. I know he wanted to
- 26:14Speaker 4: interviewed by car and I didn't listen. I to watch
- 26:17Speaker 4: or listen.
- 26:18Speaker 1: To Craig Car now has a champions or bust motto
- 26:21Speaker 1: and it's ramification. If you don't get I don't know, man,
- 26:25Speaker 1: it's just uh, look, at least he's speaking out. But
- 26:30Speaker 1: I could tell you one thing his mindset is player development.
- 26:34Speaker 1: That's really told Carton, And I'm like, all right, so
- 26:36Speaker 1: that's why jury blow up the whole team because he
- 26:38Speaker 1: wants him to like do different player development. Does it work? No,
- 26:41Speaker 1: but a player development, you know, I don't know. It's
- 26:44Speaker 1: just he needs winners in the garden. He can't, he
- 26:48Speaker 1: can't falling short and as I told her, he needs
- 26:51Speaker 1: an actual GA guy. It's a compliment Mike Solivan.
- 26:55Speaker 5: Guys, you know everybody talks about the great history of
- 27:00Speaker 5: Nixon Rangers.
- 27:02Speaker 4: That is horse crap.
- 27:04Speaker 5: When you win one championship in eighty six years like
- 27:06Speaker 5: the Rangers have gone, and twenty five of those of
- 27:09Speaker 5: these six years, there was only six teams in the
- 27:11Speaker 5: freaking league. That is absolutely embarrassing. That is not an
- 27:15Speaker 5: iconic franchise. They're iconic for one reason. They've been around
- 27:19Speaker 5: for one hundred years. That's all they have. Their history
- 27:23Speaker 5: isn't great. That's bs same thing with the Knicks. They
- 27:28Speaker 5: and not only that, the Rangers since since nineteen forty
- 27:32Speaker 5: have been in the finals in nineteen fifty, in nineteen
- 27:34Speaker 5: seventy two, in nineteen seventy nine, in ninety four, and
- 27:38Speaker 5: in twenty fourteen.
- 27:40Speaker 1: That's for our friends on YouTube, Church, can you turn
- 27:43Speaker 1: on your camera and say what you just said? I
- 27:44Speaker 1: want to put this on our YouTube church because people
- 27:46Speaker 1: need to know what Lou Dermoinello thinks.
- 27:50Speaker 4: Oh goutok.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Okay, saying again, I wanted to get this on camera.
- 27:57Speaker 1: This is great.
- 28:00Speaker 5: So Alex, I know you were talking about James Dolan
- 28:06Speaker 5: and you know it's championship or bus for his teams.
- 28:10Speaker 5: But again, Alex, the history of the New York Knicks
- 28:16Speaker 5: and the New York Rangers, two teams that James Dolan owns,
- 28:20Speaker 5: it's so overrated.
- 28:22Speaker 4: Let's look at the Rangers.
- 28:23Speaker 6: One championship in eighty six years since they won the
- 28:29Speaker 6: Stanley Cup.
- 28:29Speaker 4: Of nineteen forty. They're not an iconic franchise.
- 28:32Speaker 6: The only reason that they're iconic, and they have a
- 28:35Speaker 6: very loyal fan base, it's because they've been around for
- 28:39Speaker 6: one hundred years.
- 28:41Speaker 4: It's nonsense that they're a historic team. They're not. It's
- 28:47Speaker 4: a failure.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Well there you have it, complete nonsense. Lou, we lost you,
- 28:52Speaker 1: but we'll talk to you soon. One leg of Alex
- 28:56Speaker 1: Media
