- 0:00We tend to believe that mental knowledge is based in fact and
- 0:04is certifiable and reproducible, whereas knowledge based in faith
- 0:09is considered to be unreliable or possibly wishful thinking of
- 0:14some sort. Our certainty about our mental
- 0:17knowledge, however, is based heavily on faith.
- 0:21We believe on faith that our perceptions are accurate.
- 0:26On deeper review, we can see that we frequently mistake the
- 0:29accuracy or validity of what we perceive based on a number of
- 0:33factors including misinterpretation, falsehood
- 0:38staged and presented to us as truth, manipulated data, and the
- 0:44filtering process due to our education, past experience,
- 0:48biases, societal norms, and expectations and prejudices.
- 0:55With the advent of Photoshop and AI in the digital realm, we are
- 0:59learning that we can trust almost nothing of what we see or
- 1:02hear. Even the major AI engines are
- 1:06known to hallucinate things, make up false references or
- 1:10quotes, and respond based on biases.
- 1:13Built into the way the AI engines interpret the data they
- 1:17are looking at, we can recognize limitations of the mental
- 1:22process and the faith required to rely on it by looking at the
- 1:27errors, omissions, and falsifications that would occur
- 1:31if we were to rely on AI without further verification.
- 1:36When our mental process concludes something, we tend not
- 1:40to question it, and thus it is a matter of faith.
- 1:44That is, however, I'll placed when we turn to the question of
- 1:50psychic knowledge, we acknowledge that faith in what
- 1:53we know and experience is an essential part of the process.
- 1:57The faith that we ordinarily attribute to religious beliefs
- 2:01is essentially grounded in the mental process and thus subject
- 2:06to the same kind of failures noted above.
- 2:09The faith that is vested in the psychic knowledge is of a
- 2:12different character. Rather than being based in the
- 2:16mental process, psychic knowledge is something that
- 2:19carries with it the certainty based on the existential force
- 2:23of what comes to us in that manner.
- 2:26Just as animals in the vital world instinctively know what to
- 2:30do and how to do it, just as our bodies know how to operate their
- 2:36own functions without mental input, there are certain
- 2:40experiences and intuitions that come to an individual that are
- 2:45self-evident truths of existence.
- 2:48They come with such a force of rightness that the individual
- 2:52simply accepts them for what they are.
- 2:55The vibrational pattern, independent of our biases,
- 2:59prejudices, interpretations, conclusions, analysis, or even
- 3:05the perceptions of the senses, carries its own veracity with
- 3:10it. Paramahan's Yogananda, in his
- 3:14autobiography of a Yogi, relates how he recognized his guru when
- 3:18he met him in person the first time.
- 3:22There was no doubt in his mind and the connection was
- 3:25immediate, deep and turned out to last without any break or
- 3:30disruption. He had an experience at the
- 3:34psychic level that told him a truth that his logical mind
- 3:38could not have accepted without a lot of review and
- 3:42consideration. The mother writes quote.
- 3:47The perception of the exterior consciousness may deny the
- 3:50perception of the psychic, but the psychic has the true
- 3:54knowledge, an intuitive instinctive knowledge.
- 3:57It says I know I cannot give reasons, but I know for its
- 4:03knowledge is not mental based on experience or prove true.
- 4:08It does not believe after proofs are given.
- 4:12Faith is the movement of the soul, whose knowledge is
- 4:15spontaneous and direct. Even if the whole world denies
- 4:19and brings forward 1000 proofs to the contrary, still it knows
- 4:25by an inner knowledge, a direct perception that can stand
- 4:29against everything, a perception by identity.
- 4:34The knowledge of the psychic is something which is concrete and
- 4:37tangible, a solid mass. You can also bring it into your
- 4:41mental, your vital and your physical.
- 4:44And then you have an integral faith, a faith which can really
- 4:49move mountains. But nothing in the being must
- 4:52come and say it is not like that, or ask for a test by the
- 4:58least half. Belief you spoil matters.
- 5:02How can the supreme manifest if faith is not integral and
- 5:06immovable? Faith in itself is always
- 5:10unshakable. That is its very nature, for
- 5:13otherwise it is not faith at all.
- 5:16But it may happen that the mind or vital or the physical does
- 5:20not follow the psychic movement. A man can come to a Yogi and
- 5:24have a sudden faith that this person will lead him to his
- 5:27goal. He does not know whether the
- 5:30person has knowledge or not. He feels a psychic shock and
- 5:35knows that he has met his master.
- 5:37He does not believe after long consideration or seeing many
- 5:41miracles, and this is the only kind of faith worthwhile.
- 5:46You will always miss your destiny if you start arguing.
- 5:50Some people sit down and consider whether the psychic
- 5:53impulse is reasonable or not. End Quote.
