Speaker 1: Hey, what's going on? It's Romeo. What did you miss today?
• 0:02
Speaker 1: We did have a lot going on.
• 0:04
Speaker 2: We talked a little bit about kids not washing their
• 0:06
Speaker 2: cars nowadays, relationship advice with Michael Biehn, and short-term relationships.
• 0:11
Speaker 1: We got into that as well. What's going on?
• 0:14
Speaker 3: Romeo, I think that tipping should remain strictly for waiters
• 0:20
  Speaker 3: and waitresses.
• 0:21
  Speaker 1: Waiters and waitresses.
• 0:24
Speaker 3: I think that's what it was originally meant for.
• 0:29
Speaker 1: What about the valet guy?
• 0:31
Speaker 4: The valet guy? He's getting paid already to be a valet.
• 0:35
Speaker 1: No, a lot of those valet guys work on tips.
• 0:38
Speaker 3: Well, I would have to look into that because waiters
• 0:41
Speaker 3: and waitresses used to get paid little and to show
• 0:45
  Speaker 3: gratitude for.
• 0:46
Speaker 4: Them bringing you water or filling up this or that,
• 0:49
Speaker 4: you would tip them.
• 0:50
Speaker 3: But I do not tip people at Starbucks.
• 0:53
Speaker 4: I do not tip people that are already.
• 0:55
Speaker 3: Getting paid to do their job. That's just crazy.
• 0:58
  Speaker 5: What?
• 0:59
Speaker 3: And, you know, I also hate when they hit you
• 1:02
Speaker 3: with that convenience fee.
• 1:04
Speaker 1: What the hell is a convenience fee?
• 1:06
Speaker 3: You've never been to a concert and you pay for
• 1:09
Speaker 3: your tickets, you pay for your parking, and then it
• 1:10
  Speaker 3: says a convenience fee of like $ 45, $ 55.
• 1:14
Speaker 1: Oh, no, I've never seen that. I don't go to
• 1:16
Speaker 1: a lot of concerts, though.
• 1:17
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's crazy. So Raider Dave says, only tip waiters
• 1:22
  Speaker 3: and waitresses.
• 1:23
Speaker 4: The only time I make an exception is for strippers.
• 1:26
Speaker 1: What about a bartender?
• 1:28
Speaker 6: The bartender, that's his job. You know what? A bartender, yes.
• 1:31
Speaker 4: Because a bartender falls into a waiter.
• 1:33
Speaker 3: He's waiting on me.
• 1:35
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 1:36
Speaker 4: So, yeah. Make sure you tip them.
• 1:38
Speaker 5: Everybody else, they're just doing their job.
• 1:40
Speaker 4: They're already getting paid.
• 1:41
  Speaker 1: All right.
• 1:42
  Speaker 4: Later.
• 1:44
Speaker 2: I will say this, and I am not a huge
• 1:46
Speaker 2: fan of, as Raider Dave said, I'm more traditional of tipping.
• 1:50
Speaker 1: You know, who you traditionally tip, like you said. I
• 1:53
Speaker 1: will tell you this, though. I was at, where was I?
• 1:57
Speaker 2: Last Friday, I was at the Greek Theater, and I
• 1:59
Speaker 2: had a box, so I had my own waiter. I
• 2:04
Speaker 2: had a box seat, so I had my own waiter.
• 2:06
Speaker 2: And when the bill came, he said, okay, he goes, here,
• 2:11
Speaker 2: you can either press one of the predetermined tips, or
• 2:16
Speaker 2: you can give a custom tip, or you can just
• 2:18
  Speaker 2: skip it.
• 2:18
Speaker 1: You don't have to tip me at all.
• 2:20
Speaker 2: And when he said all of that, and said, you
• 2:24
Speaker 2: don't have to tip me at all. You can just
• 2:26
Speaker 2: skip it if you'd like.
• 2:28
Speaker 1: I thought, you know what?
• 2:29
  Speaker 5: All right.
• 2:30
Speaker 1: And I gave him, maybe it was, maybe he's played
• 2:33
Speaker 1: me a little bit.
• 2:34
Speaker 2: But I thought once he told me I did not
• 2:36
Speaker 2: have to tip him, I tipped him a little extra
• 2:38
Speaker 2: just because, you know what? Do you guys feel, because
• 2:42
Speaker 2: Raider Dave's kind of right. Just because you work at
• 2:44
Speaker 2: Starbucks and you feel obligated for a tip, why? For
• 2:49
Speaker 2: what reason? Do I, should I give you a tip?
• 2:52
Speaker 2: How did you go above and beyond for me, uh,
• 2:56
Speaker 2: to make my experience better driving through the Starbucks line,
• 3:00
Speaker 2: you know? So yeah, that's how you got to look
• 3:03
Speaker 2: at tipping. You know, how did somebody go above and beyond?
• 3:06
Speaker 2: I was, uh, and I'll tell you the other thing
• 3:10
Speaker 2: that happened when I was at the Greek theater, for
• 3:13
Speaker 2: those of you that have been to the Greek theater,
• 3:15
  Speaker 2: the parking's awful.
• 3:17
  Speaker 3: Okay.
• 3:17
Speaker 1: They put you, they stack you up. They put you
• 3:19
Speaker 1: in all these places.
• 3:20
Speaker 2: Well, when I got there and I was in my pickup, uh,
• 3:24
Speaker 2: The guy parks me literally in the one spot.
• 3:29
Speaker 1: Actually, there were two spots, but one was already taken.
• 3:32
Speaker 2: Has me back into this one spot where no cars
• 3:35
Speaker 2: are in front of me, no cars are behind me.
• 3:37
Speaker 2: One pickup truck is next to me, and I think
• 3:39
Speaker 2: it was his. And I could get right out. No
• 3:45
Speaker 2: congestion for me. So I tipped him because I knew
• 3:47
Speaker 2: what he did. So I gave him a 10 spot
• 3:49
Speaker 2: just for, you know, parking me there.
• 3:53
  Speaker 3: So.
• 3:53
Speaker 2: When people go above and beyond, I think it's okay
• 3:56
Speaker 2: to tip, but not just for anything, you know?
• 4:00
Speaker 1: Here comes the tipping, right? Who do you tip? What
• 4:02
Speaker 1: big boy? Big boy sent me.
• 4:04
Speaker 2: You know, it's funny that big boy has an opinion
• 4:07
Speaker 2: on tipping because big boy tips everybody. He don't mess around. Hey, Rome,
• 4:11
Speaker 2: how about the pizza guy, delivery guy? Yeah, you got
• 4:13
Speaker 2: to tip that guy. Yeah, I would tip the pizza
• 4:17
Speaker 2: delivery guy. I probably wouldn't tip the Grubhub guy or
• 4:20
Speaker 2: the grocery delivery guy, though, because those are made-up jobs.
• 4:23
Speaker 2: You can go get your own food. Pizza and Billy's
• 4:28
Speaker 2: are the only two places.
• 4:29
Speaker 1: That I let deliver. Word it out. What's going on?
• 4:33
Speaker 4: Hey, what's up, Rome?
• 4:33
Speaker 1: Hey, what up, Ruben?
• 4:35
  Speaker 6: Hey, Rome.
• 4:35
Speaker 4: The other day, like about a week ago, not about
• 4:38
Speaker 4: two weeks ago, I went.
• 4:38
  Speaker 6: To that Mr.
• 4:39
Speaker 4: Car Wash right here in Rosedale.
• 4:40
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 4:42
Speaker 6: So I went through there, washed the car, and I'm
• 4:44
Speaker 6: over there, you know, vacuuming it. And the guy that's
• 4:46
Speaker 6: sweeping the parking lot, he's picking up stuff. He was,
• 4:48
Speaker 6: you know, kind of mumbling, and he was like, dude,
• 4:50
Speaker 6: I don't like this job. Nobody ever tips us. He
• 4:53
Speaker 6: was telling me, I said, bro, grab a towel, start
• 4:55
Speaker 6: driving the truck, and.
• 4:56
Speaker 4: Do a little extra.
• 4:56
Speaker 6: I'll hook you up. And he goes, that's not my job.
• 5:00
  Speaker 6: I said, well, that's why you don't get a.
• 5:01
Speaker 4: Tip, because you ain't doing nothing extra. You know what
• 5:04
  Speaker 4: I mean, Rome?
• 5:05
  Speaker 6: Like, I don't know if I'm a different breed, but
• 5:07
Speaker 6: you earn your tip with me. I don't care if
• 5:09
Speaker 6: you're a server, who you are. You take care of me,
• 5:12
Speaker 6: I'm going to take care of you.
• 5:13
  Speaker 1: I think that's a good idea.
• 5:14
Speaker 2: I think you could tip anybody that goes above and
• 5:16
Speaker 2: beyond for you in whatever capacity. I think it's worth
• 5:19
Speaker 2: giving him a little something for helping you out.
• 5:21
Speaker 1: I agree with that.
• 5:22
Speaker 4: That man makes a lot of sense.
• 5:23
Speaker 6: Like my trash man room, like if I tell him
• 5:25
Speaker 6: I'm going to be out of town, he'll get off
• 5:27
Speaker 6: his truck and he'll push my trash can all the
• 5:29
Speaker 6: way up to the gate. Oh, yeah, that's fair, yeah.
• 5:32
Speaker 4: So it doesn't sit out in the street, you know
• 5:33
Speaker 4: what I mean? Absolutely. And I was like, who moved
• 5:36
Speaker 4: my trash can the first time it happened?
• 5:38
Speaker 6: And he goes, oh, dude, he didn't.
• 5:40
Speaker 4: And I saw it, and I talked to him. I
• 5:41
Speaker 4: gave him a soda and stuff, and I told him,
• 5:42
Speaker 4: you know, thank you.
• 5:43
Speaker 6: And he was like, oh, well, you told me you
• 5:45
Speaker 6: guys were going to be heading out of town, so
• 5:46
Speaker 6: I figured, you know what, on the way back, when
• 5:48
Speaker 6: I dump it, I'll just roll it in.
• 5:50
Speaker 2: Can I say this, by the way, just on that
• 5:53
Speaker 2: one note? You guys are so stupid who don't do that.
• 5:58
Speaker 2: I see people do that all the time.
• 6:00
Speaker 1: I have neighbors that.
• 6:01
Speaker 2: Do that, and they don't think anything of it about
• 6:03
Speaker 2: going out of town. on whatever day, and just having
• 6:06
Speaker 2: their trash can sit out the whole... That is a
• 6:08
Speaker 2: red flag that you're not home, by the way, for
• 6:10
Speaker 2: those people that don't know.
• 6:11
  Speaker 3: Thank you.
• 6:12
Speaker 6: That's exactly what me and where he was like, dude,
• 6:14
Speaker 6: he was like, he was like, I got you, man.
• 6:16
Speaker 4: He was like, and so we always put something out
• 6:18
Speaker 4: there for him. Yeah, all the time, but.
• 6:20
Speaker 6: Every here and there.
• 6:21
Speaker 4: I'll set something out there if I don't see them
• 6:23
Speaker 4: come by. Because sometimes they come by early. Sometimes they
• 6:25
  Speaker 4: come by late.
• 6:26
Speaker 6: You know what I mean? But, yeah, I know. I
• 6:28
Speaker 6: don't care what anybody said, what you want to say
• 6:30
Speaker 6: about me, but you earn your tips with me.
• 6:32
  Speaker 4: I don't care. If I go to a server and
• 6:34
Speaker 4: she don't take care of me and my family or
• 6:35
Speaker 4: just me and my people, I ain't going to give
• 6:38
Speaker 4: you that much love. You know what I mean? You're
• 6:41
Speaker 4: taking care of us, and you got this. All right, Ruben.
• 6:44
Speaker 4: You earn your tips.
• 6:45
Speaker 1: All right, brother. And that's the point. The point is
• 6:47
Speaker 1: if you go above and beyond in whatever capacity... Then, yeah,
• 6:51
Speaker 1: you might want to break somebody off a little something.
• 6:53
Speaker 1: That's just, you know, that's just the right thing to do.
• 6:56
Speaker 1: But I will tell you guys this about the trash cans.
• 6:59
Speaker 2: Because I know people who go out of town, my
• 7:01
Speaker 2: neighbors will do it, and they'll leave their trash cans
• 7:03
Speaker 2: out all weekend or all week. And you sit there
• 7:06
Speaker 2: and you go, yep, that's a red flag. Those are
• 7:09
Speaker 2: the people you can rob.
• 7:10
Speaker 1: Good morning. What's going on?
• 7:11
  Speaker 7: Good morning, Romeo.
• 7:12
Speaker 1: Hey, what's going on?
• 7:14
Speaker 7: I'm listening to you talk about tipping, right?
• 7:16
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 7:18
Speaker 7: I also agree with, you know, the convenience. Like, how
• 7:22
Speaker 7: you convenient me is how you're getting ticked, right?
• 7:24
  Speaker 8: Sure.
• 7:25
Speaker 7: And how great it is that, like, the convenience fee
• 7:30
Speaker 7: that they charge, crap.
• 7:32
  Speaker 8: Like, what?
• 7:33
Speaker 7: What do you mean you're charging me an extra $ 50
• 7:35
  Speaker 7: for nothing?
• 7:35
  Speaker 1: I've never seen.
• 7:37
  Speaker 4: That.
• 7:37
  Speaker 1: I don't know what that.
• 7:37
Speaker 7: And it's not just concerts. It's not just concerts. It's mainly, like,
• 7:42
Speaker 7: any type of event that you have to buy tickets
• 7:44
Speaker 7: online for. Like, some of the events here in town, like.
• 7:51
Speaker 7: I think Village Fest, there might be like a $ 6
• 7:53
Speaker 7: convenience fee, something like that. There are convenience fees for like.
• 7:57
Speaker 1: Is it a fee for a processing fee or what's
• 8:01
Speaker 1: a convenience fee? I don't understand what that is.
• 8:04
  Speaker 6: Literally, I don't either.
• 8:06
Speaker 7: It literally says convenience fee.
• 8:08
  Speaker 4: I just bought.
• 8:09
Speaker 7: Some tickets to a concert on Friday. Convenience fee, $ 75.
• 8:14
Speaker 3: Like, okay, well, what.
• 8:15
Speaker 7: Was the convenience that you didn't have to do anything?
• 8:17
Speaker 1: How much were the tickets?
• 8:19
  Speaker 6: They were $ 480.
• 8:20
Speaker 7: My God, girl, how.
• 8:21
Speaker 1: Much money you got?
• 8:24
  Speaker 7: I got money.
• 8:25
  Speaker 4: I'm single now.
• 8:27
  Speaker 8: I got money.
• 8:27
  Speaker 1: I'm going through a divorce.
• 8:29
Speaker 7: I don't got to worry about taking care of a
• 8:31
  Speaker 7: grown-ass man.
• 8:33
  Speaker 3: I'm single.
• 8:33
Speaker 7: Hit me up. And I'm fine as hell, okay?
• 8:38
Speaker 1: Do not say that on my radio show. You know
• 8:41
Speaker 1: how many idiots are going to be, hey, Rome, get
• 8:43
Speaker 1: her number, get her picture. No, I don't need that
• 8:46
  Speaker 1: headache this morning.
• 8:47
  Speaker 4: You know what?
• 8:48
Speaker 7: Romeo, get that headache for me, okay? I'm trying to go.
• 8:51
  Speaker 4: To steak dinner.
• 8:52
Speaker 3: I like flowers, okay?
• 8:54
Speaker 7: I got my own money. I work hard.
• 8:57
Speaker 6: I'm fine, you know?
• 8:58
  Speaker 2: Okay?
• 8:59
Speaker 7: Anyway, listen, back to the topic.
• 9:02
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 9:03
Speaker 6: I lost what I was going to say. Jesus, I'm so.
• 9:05
Speaker 7: I was just thinking about myself.
• 9:07
  Speaker 1: Sure, I get it. I get it. That's wild. I
• 9:10
Speaker 1: never heard of a convenience store, but okay. Thanks for calling.
• 9:13
Speaker 3: Oh, wait, wait, wait.
• 9:14
Speaker 7: You know what I was going to say?
• 9:15
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 9:16
Speaker 7: Is I hate when we go to the... Like, when
• 9:18
Speaker 7: you go to a restaurant, right? And it's, like, a
• 9:20
Speaker 7: party of six or more. And automatically, you're getting a
• 9:24
Speaker 7: charge of gratuity for a party of six or more.
• 9:27
Speaker 7: Mind that, you know, if there's a big party and you're, like,
• 9:31
Speaker 7: waiting on me and I don't have to sit there
• 9:33
Speaker 7: and ask for a refill and I don't have to
• 9:34
Speaker 7: sit there and ask for extra salsa, you know what
• 9:37
  Speaker 7: I mean?
• 9:37
  Speaker 4: Perfect.
• 9:38
  Speaker 7: What I can't stand is it's a party of, like...
• 9:41
Speaker 7: Seven of us, we're all getting charged gratuity, but we
• 9:45
Speaker 7: see the waitress one time.
• 9:47
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 9:48
Speaker 7: We don't have any... I can't stand that. Like, that
• 9:52
  Speaker 7: right there.
• 9:52
  Speaker 6: Anyways.
• 9:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I've had that happen to me before, and
• 9:55
Speaker 2: I thought the same thing. There's 20 of us or
• 9:58
Speaker 2: 10 of us, and you guys know you're getting.
• 10:00
Speaker 1: tips, so you treat us terribly. Yeah, I've had that happen.
• 10:02
  Speaker 7: I can't stand that part. I can't stand that. I'm like,
• 10:05
Speaker 7: what sense does that make? And mind you, sometimes there's
• 10:08
Speaker 7: multiple waiters, and we don't see either one of them.
• 10:11
  Speaker 5: So anyway, that's all I.
• 10:13
Speaker 7: Was getting to before we started talking about me.
• 10:15
  Speaker 8: That's all right.
• 10:16
Speaker 1: That's all right. Well, good luck finding that steak dinner.
• 10:18
Speaker 1: I hope it works out for you.
• 10:19
Speaker 7: I buy my own steak dinner, but it doesn't hurt
• 10:21
Speaker 7: to have somebody come, you know?
• 10:23
Speaker 1: See, don't be like that. That's probably why you got divorced.
• 10:27
Speaker 1: Why would you want to.
• 10:28
Speaker 7: Buy your own steak dinner?
• 10:31
Speaker 1: Well, why would you want to buy your own steak
• 10:32
Speaker 1: dinner if you don't have to?
• 10:34
Speaker 7: Because I don't mind doing it. It would be nice
• 10:36
Speaker 7: to have somebody buy it, but I don't mind buying
• 10:39
Speaker 7: my own steak dinner.
• 10:40
Speaker 1: Okay, okay. See, that's why you're getting the horse. All right.
• 10:43
Speaker 1: Shut your mouth. We're not. What's going on?
• 10:47
Speaker 4: Hey, Romeo, this is Rated Dave.
• 10:49
Speaker 1: What up, Rated Dave?
• 10:50
Speaker 4: Hey, I just wanted to say, you know, I'm 5'11.
• 10:52
Speaker 3: I got a nice tan if that lady's.
• 10:54
Speaker 4: Listening, the last caller. You want to maybe slide her.
• 10:58
Speaker 6: My number in the DMs?
• 11:00
  Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no.
• 11:02
Speaker 4: We have something in common. We both don't like that
• 11:05
  Speaker 4: convenience fee.
• 11:06
Speaker 1: Maybe I have to help her out with it. Yeah,
• 11:09
Speaker 1: but she's willing to pay for a steak dinner. You're not.
• 11:13
Speaker 6: Well, she can pay for my steak dinner.
• 11:15
Speaker 3: I'm telling you, I'm very funny.
• 11:18
Speaker 4: I can keep her company.
• 11:19
Speaker 6: Let her know, Raider Davis, you know.
• 11:21
Speaker 1: I'll let her know. I'll send her your way. Thank you.
• 11:24
Speaker 4: I have it deep in my voice.
• 11:26
  Speaker 6: All right.
• 11:26
Speaker 2: About the dumbest thing any of you women can do.
• 11:30
Speaker 2: is call this show and say you're hot and you
• 11:33
Speaker 2: got your own money. Every loser out there who wants
• 11:36
Speaker 2: to take advantage of you, well, you don't want a man.
• 11:40
Speaker 2: Any man that's going to call and try to hit
• 11:45
Speaker 2: on you through my show, yeah, you don't want that man.
• 11:47
Speaker 1: Yeah, I still never heard of a convenience fee, but
• 11:52
Speaker 1: that's all right. I don't know what that is, but
• 11:54
Speaker 1: maybe I should. Maybe I've been paying a convenience fee.
• 11:56
  Speaker 1: I don't even know what it is. I didn't even
• 11:58
Speaker 1: know I was paying it. Right? R-A-4-2-5-4-7-7. We're talking about tipping.
• 12:03
Speaker 2: It says, hey, Rome, if anyone disagrees with you, they
• 12:05
Speaker 2: are not the smartest person. Hey, Rome, it's outrageous when
• 12:12
Speaker 2: it comes to tips, man. Good service will receive tips
• 12:15
Speaker 2: without asking. Oh, in the U.S., overseas countries don't ask
• 12:20
Speaker 2: for tips, and some places won't receive them.
• 12:23
Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't know that. That's interesting. Hey, good morning, Rome.
• 12:27
  Speaker 1: I tip accordingly.
• 12:28
Speaker 2: Normally 20% at a restaurant, my barber, $ 20. The latest
• 12:35
Speaker 2: thing about tipping is companies are charging wrong, thinking you
• 12:40
  Speaker 2: won't notice.
• 12:41
Speaker 1: I've heard about this before.
• 12:44
Speaker 2: And you got to really pay attention to your bill
• 12:46
Speaker 2: because these restaurants are trying to bamboozle you.
• 12:50
Speaker 1: Went to a puzzle joint.
• 12:52
Speaker 2: Computer said 15%, but the math was charging 20. Changed
• 12:57
Speaker 2: it to 20%. Was adding up to 25. They think
• 13:00
Speaker 2: people can't add on their own. I know what 20%
• 13:05
Speaker 2: of 40 without having to use a calculator. A lot
• 13:07
Speaker 2: of people don't, though. I mean, I even fall guilty
• 13:10
Speaker 2: to some things of, I mean, there are times that
• 13:14
  Speaker 2: I will go to a place and I won't even
• 13:17
Speaker 2: look at the bill. I'll just hand them my card or,
• 13:19
Speaker 2: you know, and because, you know, I'm just trying to
• 13:23
Speaker 2: get it paid. So there are times that I don't
• 13:25
Speaker 2: even pay attention, but now I guess you really do
• 13:27
Speaker 2: have to pay attention when you go somewhere. A-Rome, lately
• 13:31
Speaker 2: there are no above and beyond service.
• 13:33
Speaker 1: Yeah, I kind of agree with you on that.
• 13:36
Speaker 2: There's not a lot of, exceptional service out there. Yo, Rome,
• 13:41
Speaker 2: tip a good bartender, tip a good waitress, and tip
• 13:44
Speaker 2: the girl at Starbucks handling new your coffee.
• 13:50
Speaker 1: Handing you your coffee. Oh, don't tip the girl at Starbucks. Yeah,
• 13:54
  Speaker 1: I wouldn't. I mean, I'm still pretty traditional.
• 13:58
Speaker 2: I tip for service above and beyond.
• 14:02
  Speaker 4: You know?
• 14:02
  Speaker 8: And.
• 14:03
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 14:06
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 14:06
Speaker 1: Above and beyond service is what tipping normally is.
• 14:09
  Speaker 2: 34254, 7 to 7. Hey, Rome, one time I went
• 14:16
Speaker 2: through one of these drive-thru places, ordered my food. They
• 14:19
Speaker 2: told me a specific total saying that everything plus tax.
• 14:25
Speaker 1: I said, cool. Drive up to the window, charge my card.
• 14:29
Speaker 1: They said, do you want a receipt? I said, no.
• 14:32
Speaker 2: I drive off, my phone goes off, and they tipped
• 14:35
Speaker 2: themselves 19%. I was also heated. I was so heated
• 14:40
Speaker 2: from now on. I asked for a receipt because they
• 14:42
Speaker 2: can't do that. If you ask for a receipt because
• 14:46
Speaker 2: they because a lock in locks in your total. But
• 14:50
Speaker 2: I guess when you don't ask for a receipt, they
• 14:52
Speaker 2: could do that. I always ask for a receipt only
• 14:56
Speaker 2: because I want them to know that I'm watching what
• 14:58
  Speaker 2: I'm getting.
• 14:59
  Speaker 1: You know, I don't I don't trust.
• 15:00
Speaker 2: How do you return anything nowadays if you don't have
• 15:02
Speaker 2: a receipt, by the way? How do you deal with problems?
• 15:06
Speaker 2: You have your phone, I guess.
• 15:07
Speaker 1: Maybe receipts go to your phone.
• 15:09
  Speaker 4: R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7.
• 15:10
Speaker 2: I'm going to tell you about my buddy's friend. I mean,
• 15:14
Speaker 2: my buddy's kid. He actually might call in if he's listening.
• 15:17
Speaker 2: But not the kid, my buddy. But so, you know,
• 15:22
Speaker 2: a guy I work out with, his kid.
• 15:23
  Speaker 1: He's got a kid. I think he's 24 years old.
• 15:25
Speaker 1: Graduated college. Good kid. Good looking kid. Got a pretty
• 15:30
  Speaker 1: good personality for a 21-year-old.
• 15:31
  Speaker 4: Um.
• 15:34
Speaker 1: But he won't wash his damn car.
• 15:37
Speaker 2: And his logic is, because he drives an older car,
• 15:41
Speaker 2: you know, like a 2000-something, I don't need to wash it.
• 15:47
Speaker 1: And I think to myself, no. You need to wash
• 15:51
Speaker 1: your car. You can't just have a cloud of dust
• 15:55
  Speaker 1: on your car.
• 15:55
Speaker 2: Your car is a representation of who you are. right,
• 16:02
  Speaker 2: am I wrong, ladies, a 24-year-old guy, okay, you're looking,
• 16:10
  Speaker 2: you're looking for a 24-year-old college graduate, and he's driving
• 16:17
Speaker 2: a dirty-ass car, are you not, are you okay with that,
• 16:24
Speaker 2: because that's a representation of who your car is, a
• 16:27
Speaker 2: representation of who you are.
• 16:30
Speaker 1: There are two things that you can tell.
• 16:34
Speaker 2: By how somebody's car looks and how their house or
• 16:37
Speaker 2: their bedroom looks, how well they keep, if they keep
• 16:42
Speaker 2: it clean or not.
• 16:43
Speaker 1: That's a representation of you. Am I wrong about that?
• 16:50
Speaker 1: Already 4254, 7 to 7. And what got me, it
• 16:53
Speaker 1: cracked me up when he said, well, Rome, it's an
• 16:55
Speaker 1: older car, so, you know, I don't really care.
• 16:57
Speaker 2: If I had a new car, I was like, your
• 16:59
Speaker 2: dad keeps his car clean. Yeah, but my dad drives
• 17:01
Speaker 2: a blah, blah, blah.
• 17:02
Speaker 1: Which is, yeah. So, anyway, I, then I started to
• 17:08
Speaker 1: think back in the day. When you were in high school, when.
• 17:13
Speaker 2: You were in your 20s, we drove buckets. But we
• 17:17
Speaker 2: kept those things armored all the nice and tight.
• 17:20
  Speaker 1: Didn't we?
• 17:21
Speaker 2: Do you remember back in the day? It didn't matter
• 17:23
Speaker 2: if you had a low rider. It didn't matter if you.
• 17:27
Speaker 1: Had a new car or an old car. You kept that.
• 17:31
Speaker 1: You could be driving an 88 Honda Accord.
• 17:36
Speaker 2: But you kept it clean. Armor all of the tires.
• 17:40
Speaker 2: You didn't have no layer of dust. Think about when
• 17:44
Speaker 2: you were in your 20s. For those of you old
• 17:48
Speaker 2: school cats. Did you ever drive around on a Friday
• 17:52
Speaker 2: night with a layer of dust on your car?
• 17:58
Speaker 1: Were your tires not armored up?
• 18:01
Speaker 2: It didn't matter if you were driving an 88 Sentra.
• 18:06
Speaker 2: You had that thing clean as could be. As clean
• 18:11
Speaker 2: as you can get, right? These kids today, man, that's
• 18:17
Speaker 2: a representation of you. That's how people see you.
• 18:24
  Speaker 1: Clean your car.
• 18:26
  Speaker 4: All right.
• 18:26
Speaker 1: Eight, four, two, five, four, seven to seven. What's going on?
• 18:30
Speaker 4: Hey, what's up, bro? You got to put my boy
• 18:32
  Speaker 4: on black.
• 18:35
Speaker 1: Hey, so I told you when we.
• 18:40
Speaker 9: Pulled up the Thursday morning, I was like, you know,
• 18:43
Speaker 9: that's the first thing he's going to say.
• 18:45
Speaker 3: Your car is clean.
• 18:46
Speaker 4: He's like, yeah. And what's the first thing you said
• 18:49
  Speaker 4: to him?
• 18:51
Speaker 6: What? What was the first thing you said to him?
• 18:53
Speaker 3: Oh, you finally washed your car.
• 18:54
  Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
• 18:56
  Speaker 8: Well, yeah.
• 18:57
Speaker 1: Wash your damn car, man. Have a little pride in yourself.
• 19:00
Speaker 1: People see you as they see you.
• 19:02
Speaker 9: But what's crazy, Rome, is the inside of his car
• 19:05
Speaker 9: is clean. It's like it's... I'm not saying you can
• 19:09
Speaker 9: eat off of it, but if you think the outside reflects.
• 19:13
Speaker 6: The inside, you're wrong.
• 19:15
Speaker 2: Yeah, but still, you don't know that. You don't know
• 19:19
Speaker 2: she crazy. You don't know a hot girl's crazy until
• 19:21
  Speaker 2: you actually get.
• 19:22
Speaker 1: To know her. You don't know that car's clean until.
• 19:25
  Speaker 6: You get inside.
• 19:26
Speaker 4: I tried to explain it to him. You might as
• 19:30
Speaker 4: well be talking to the wall.
• 19:31
  Speaker 6: I mean, his.
• 19:32
Speaker 9: Logic is his logic, and I'm like, all right, dude, I'll...
• 19:36
  Speaker 9: I just remember.
• 19:38
Speaker 2: In my 20s, everybody, even dudes with buckets had armor
• 19:41
Speaker 2: all on their tires. You could have chip paint, but
• 19:43
Speaker 2: you'd take clean and armor on the tires.
• 19:45
Speaker 6: Oh, without a doubt.
• 19:47
  Speaker 4: Without a doubt.
• 19:47
  Speaker 3: But I mean, I don't know if it's just because
• 19:49
  Speaker 3: the time.
• 19:50
Speaker 9: Have changed and stuff like that, and And I have
• 19:53
Speaker 9: instilled in him, like, don't care what people think about you.
• 19:56
  Speaker 4: You know, someone's.
• 19:57
Speaker 9: Opinion of you doesn't make you who you are.
• 19:59
Speaker 4: So, you know, I guess he's taking that to heart.
• 20:02
Speaker 6: But it did bother me with the dirty car.
• 20:05
  Speaker 1: Again, again.
• 20:06
Speaker 2: What people think of you is different than having pride
• 20:09
Speaker 2: in yourself. Your car and your house are two things
• 20:11
Speaker 2: that people judge you on and are a representation of you.
• 20:15
Speaker 1: How you dress nowadays. How you dress also, but, you know,
• 20:18
  Speaker 1: he's just a kid still.
• 20:20
  Speaker 4: But, yeah, man.
• 20:23
Speaker 9: So, and his logic is that once I get a
• 20:27
Speaker 9: better car, newer car, you know, I'm going to take
• 20:30
Speaker 9: care of it better.
• 20:30
Speaker 4: And I'm like, it's still your car at.
• 20:33
Speaker 6: The end of the day.
• 20:34
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's terrible logic.
• 20:36
  Speaker 4: You make enough.
• 20:37
Speaker 9: Money right now, you can do like a little monthly
• 20:39
  Speaker 9: subscription to, you.
• 20:40
Speaker 4: Know, one of the little spots just to cruise through or,
• 20:43
Speaker 4: you know, just knock the dust off of it.
• 20:45
Speaker 9: But it's just going to get dirty.
• 20:46
Speaker 3: I was like, okay, so guess what?
• 20:48
Speaker 6: Just because I paid my bills this month, you know,
• 20:50
Speaker 6: I have to pay them next month?
• 20:52
  Speaker 4: Exactly.
• 20:53
  Speaker 3: Fuck.
• 20:54
Speaker 6: It makes sense, dude.
• 20:55
Speaker 1: All right, man. I got to go. I'll talk to
• 20:58
Speaker 1: you later. I mean, all I'm saying is this. All right? Look, man,
• 21:03
Speaker 1: that's a representation of you. Keep your car clean. You know,
• 21:09
Speaker 1: you keep your drawers clean, don't you? Keep your car clean.
• 21:13
Speaker 1: Keep your bedroom clean. Keep your house.
• 21:15
Speaker 2: That's a representation of who you are. People look at
• 21:17
Speaker 2: you and they say, oh, look at this person. He
• 21:20
Speaker 2: takes pride. She takes pride, whatever, blah, blah, blah.
• 21:24
Speaker 1: I mean, there were fools rolling around in 85 Nissan Sentras.
• 21:33
Speaker 2: With faded paint, but yet they still had armor all
• 21:36
Speaker 2: on the tires. Man, you got to keep your car clean.
• 21:38
Speaker 2: If you're going to keep your car clean, man, what
• 21:39
Speaker 2: does that say about you?
• 21:40
Speaker 1: Good morning, how's it going on?
• 21:42
Speaker 7: Hey, what's going on, bro?
• 21:44
Speaker 5: Hey, what up, man?
• 21:44
Speaker 6: Hey, man, talking about these cars, man, it doesn't take
• 21:47
Speaker 6: that much for you to have your car cleaned up.
• 21:51
Speaker 4: It says a lot about you, you know what I mean?
• 21:53
  Speaker 6: Mm-hmm.
• 21:55
Speaker 1: That's what I say. Your car is a representation of you.
• 21:58
Speaker 1: It's one of the first things people see.
• 22:02
  Speaker 4: Exactly.
• 22:02
Speaker 6: You know what, Romeo?
• 22:04
  Speaker 3: I'm mobile, man. I'm a mobile mechanic, and I've seen
• 22:07
Speaker 3: some cars. Damn, you wouldn't believe it.
• 22:10
Speaker 9: Oh, I can believe that.
• 22:14
Speaker 1: Hey, bro, you wouldn't believe it, man.
• 22:16
Speaker 6: I'll be like, man, oh, my God.
• 22:18
Speaker 3: Like, man, it only takes you five minutes. You know,
• 22:22
Speaker 3: like you said, it shows a lot.
• 22:24
Speaker 6: About a person, man.
• 22:25
Speaker 4: That's how you keep your car.
• 22:26
Speaker 5: Imagine how do you wipe your butt, man?
• 22:29
Speaker 4: It's going to be the same.
• 22:30
Speaker 1: All right, man, get out of here. And I'm going
• 22:34
Speaker 1: to tell you, and I understand, you know, and I
• 22:37
Speaker 1: don't want to put too much on him, but, you know,
• 22:40
Speaker 1: my boys, that's the thing, right?
• 22:42
Speaker 2: Everybody tells you you don't want to, don't care what
• 22:46
Speaker 2: other people think. You shouldn't care what other people think
• 22:49
Speaker 2: of you. And I totally agree with that. Be your
• 22:52
Speaker 2: own person. But washing your car, keeping your house clean
• 22:57
Speaker 2: or your room clean, keeping your clothes tight, clean, always
• 23:01
Speaker 2: look in respect, that shows that you have pride in yourself,
• 23:05
Speaker 2: not being judged by somebody else. It shows you have
• 23:08
Speaker 2: pride in yourself. And I'm going to tell you why
• 23:10
Speaker 2: the car is so important. Years ago, years ago, When
• 23:16
Speaker 2: I bought my first house in Bakersfield, right? I bought
• 23:19
Speaker 2: a nice house in Rosedale. And I had a brand
• 23:22
Speaker 2: new Toyota Tundra. I bought a brand new Toyota Tundra.
• 23:27
Speaker 2: But I drove an old S10 that my dad gave me.
• 23:32
Speaker 1: Smelled like cigarette smoke because he smoked in it.
• 23:35
Speaker 2: Faded paint. It was a turquoise, green, ugly, you know,
• 23:42
Speaker 2: pickup truck. And I drove it everywhere. That was what
• 23:47
  Speaker 2: I drove. I didn't tell anybody that I had a
• 23:50
Speaker 2: brand new car in the house that had four miles
• 23:52
  Speaker 2: on it.
• 23:53
  Speaker 1: I didn't tell anybody.
• 23:53
  Speaker 2: I didn't even tell anybody I owned a house until
• 23:56
Speaker 2: I met this one woman. And she was like, I'll
• 23:58
  Speaker 2: drive that POS.
• 24:00
Speaker 1: And you know what? Then she found out, wait, you
• 24:03
Speaker 1: got a house? You got a brand new car? What
• 24:05
Speaker 1: do you do? I said, you know, I don't know
• 24:08
Speaker 1: because the truck is just an old beat up truck.
• 24:10
Speaker 2: But I kept it clean, kept it car washed, kept
• 24:13
Speaker 2: it tight, kept it vacuumed, all that good stuff. But
• 24:16
Speaker 2: It just shows when people look at you, what they see.
• 24:20
Speaker 2: And I'm not talking about being judged by them. I'm
• 24:22
Speaker 2: talking about how you feel about yourself. You get up
• 24:26
Speaker 2: every morning. You got a clean house. You got a
• 24:29
Speaker 2: clean car. It just shows that you have pride in you.
• 24:34
Speaker 1: R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7. And I just remember all the buckets that we
• 24:40
Speaker 1: owned as kids, as young adults, friends had. They always
• 24:45
Speaker 1: kept them clean. Never a layer of dust, dirt on it.
• 24:49
Speaker 1: Always kept them clean.
• 24:51
  Speaker 3: Morning, Al.
• 24:51
  Speaker 1: What's going on?
• 24:52
  Speaker 4: Yo, Romeo.
• 24:53
  Speaker 1: What up, brother?
• 24:55
Speaker 4: Hey, I want to comment. The young lady said, you know,
• 24:58
Speaker 4: you got to really look at a person's heart. I agree.
• 25:02
Speaker 4: You do got to look at their heart. But if
• 25:04
Speaker 4: their car and their apartment is dirty, their heart probably dirty, too.
• 25:08
  Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a couple things that are there. There's a
• 25:10
Speaker 1: couple hurdles before you get to the heart. Yeah, you're
• 25:13
  Speaker 1: absolutely right.
• 25:14
Speaker 9: Yeah, it's a couple of hurdles, like all the clothes
• 25:18
  Speaker 9: on the floor.
• 25:23
  Speaker 6: Oh, man.
• 25:24
  Speaker 3: All right, brother.
• 25:24
Speaker 1: Thanks for calling, man.
• 25:25
Speaker 4: Have a good one, man.
• 25:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, how's it going on?
• 25:28
  Speaker 4: Hey, Romeo.
• 25:29
  Speaker 1: What up, man?
• 25:30
Speaker 8: So, you know how I know you're right about the
• 25:32
  Speaker 8: car situation?
• 25:33
Speaker 4: Okay. Because I bet you if you ask.
• 25:36
Speaker 5: All the men that are listening today, what's more impressive,
• 25:39
Speaker 5: a dude pulling up with a shiny, you know, 2020,
• 25:42
Speaker 5: 2024 car, or a dude that pulls up with a
• 25:47
Speaker 5: car that's 20 or 30 years old, that, like you said,
• 25:49
Speaker 5: it's clean, got nice.
• 25:51
Speaker 8: Rims, it's not chipped, it's kept together, and it doesn't
• 25:55
Speaker 8: matter what kind of car it is. Like the one
• 25:56
Speaker 8: lady earlier, it can be a Chevy Impala, it can
• 25:59
Speaker 8: be an S-Truck, it can be a Chevy Blazer.
• 26:02
Speaker 5: But a dude will stop you in the parking lot.
• 26:04
Speaker 4: And shake your hand and go, man, you keep that
• 26:06
Speaker 4: truck up, that's nice.
• 26:07
Speaker 8: And like you said, it's the old school way of
• 26:12
Speaker 8: building up your representation of you, because.
• 26:15
Speaker 4: Now if you go on a job interview, if.
• 26:17
Speaker 5: They see you anywhere, they see you in life, they're
• 26:19
Speaker 5: going to go, that fool's got his stuff together.
• 26:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely right, man. Absolutely right. Hey, thanks for calling.
• 26:24
Speaker 1: Appreciate it. I mean, that's what I'm saying. You just, you, what,
• 26:28
Speaker 1: what this kid couldn't understand. My buddy's kid doesn't understand.
• 26:32
Speaker 2: He thinks it's judging him because his car ain't clean
• 26:36
Speaker 2: because it's got a layer of dust on it, can't
• 26:38
Speaker 2: see out the front windshield. He thinks it's judging him.
• 26:41
Speaker 2: I'm not judging him. I'm saying have respect for yourself
• 26:46
Speaker 2: because that's what people are looking at. People are not
• 26:50
Speaker 2: judging you, but that shows your character. And some people
• 26:55
Speaker 2: are judging you. I should rephrase that. Some people are
• 26:57
Speaker 2: judging you. But other people are looking at you. Most
• 27:00
Speaker 2: people are looking at you and go, man, that dude's
• 27:02
Speaker 2: got a 30-year-old car, 20-year-old car, but look how clean
• 27:05
Speaker 2: he keeps it. That says, that shows how much you
• 27:10
Speaker 2: care about you, okay?
• 27:13
Speaker 1: It shows the pride you have in you. Just like
• 27:17
Speaker 1: if you keep your house clean, just like Deidre said,
• 27:19
Speaker 1: you keep your yard clean, you keep your shoes clean,
• 27:22
Speaker 1: you keep your outfits clean. That's what that says, you know?
• 27:26
  Speaker 6: All right.
• 27:27
Speaker 2: Eight, four, two, five, four, seven, a seven. And you
• 27:29
Speaker 2: ladies tell me one thing. You walk up to a, you,
• 27:34
  Speaker 2: you walk up.
• 27:34
  Speaker 4: Okay.
• 27:35
Speaker 2: Let me tell you, let me explain something to you.
• 27:37
Speaker 2: You women walk into a parking lot, right? And there's
• 27:40
  Speaker 2: a dude sitting there and let's say a 10 year
• 27:43
Speaker 2: old car, clean as can be, armor on the tires,
• 27:46
  Speaker 2: waxed up.
• 27:47
  Speaker 1: He's got a nicely pressed.
• 27:48
Speaker 2: Shirt on iron looks clean. And then you see some
• 27:52
Speaker 2: dude with a brand new car, dirty as hell. He
• 27:54
Speaker 2: got a raggedy wrinkled shirt on. Which dude are you
• 27:57
Speaker 2: going to think has more pride in himself and is
• 28:00
Speaker 2: going to treat you better?
• 28:01
Speaker 1: Good morning. What's going on?
• 28:03
  Speaker 5: Romeo, it's Deidre.
• 28:05
Speaker 1: Hey, what up, Deidre?
• 28:07
  Speaker 3: Hey, Romeo.
• 28:09
Speaker 5: I agree with you on the vehicles and the house
• 28:12
Speaker 5: and your front yard and all that. I say that stuff.
• 28:14
Speaker 4: All the time. That's a reflection of y'all.
• 28:18
Speaker 5: Clean that crap up.
• 28:20
Speaker 4: Why do you want to walk around dirty like that?
• 28:22
Speaker 4: And then the cars. You know, I used to be like,
• 28:24
Speaker 4: the car be clean and stuff, and.
• 28:26
Speaker 6: Then you got a friend with a kid, and the
• 28:28
Speaker 6: kid's feet all dirty, and his friends all on the back.
• 28:32
  Speaker 4: Of your seat.
• 28:32
Speaker 7: They don't even look at the car when they get
• 28:35
Speaker 7: their kid out to clean your car out.
• 28:37
Speaker 4: And I don't ever sit in the back seat.
• 28:39
Speaker 5: Why is my back seat always dirty?
• 28:42
Speaker 1: Deidre, you said you got a friend with a kid.
• 28:47
Speaker 6: Well, it's a shame my friend don't know.
• 28:49
Speaker 8: But, yeah, it ain't because of the dirt.
• 28:51
Speaker 4: But, yeah, the shoes.
• 28:54
  Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
• 28:55
Speaker 3: They're just like, come on now, y'all.
• 28:57
  Speaker 1: Come on.
• 28:58
Speaker 6: And they be calling me bougie and stuff because I
• 29:00
Speaker 6: don't want my car dirty.
• 29:01
  Speaker 5: Yep.
• 29:02
Speaker 1: I ain't lying. You ain't lying. You are not lying.
• 29:04
Speaker 8: And then I ain't got no little bitty critters.
• 29:05
Speaker 4: My kids grown. Yep.
• 29:07
Speaker 2: That is a representation of you. And it shows the
• 29:10
Speaker 2: pride you have in yourself. Not anybody judging you, but
• 29:13
Speaker 2: the pride you have in yourself.
• 29:15
  Speaker 6: Exactly.
• 29:16
Speaker 5: And it's really disgusting for a female to bring her
• 29:19
  Speaker 5: butt outside with.
• 29:20
Speaker 3: Some dirty tennis shoes on.
• 29:22
  Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
• 29:24
Speaker 3: They're supposed to be white.
• 29:26
Speaker 4: Come on now. It's wrong women doing that right to
• 29:29
Speaker 4: this freaking day. Wearing dirty shoes.
• 29:32
  Speaker 1: All right, Deidre.
• 29:33
Speaker 4: I'm coming out. All right.
• 29:34
  Speaker 1: Thanks, Deidre.
• 29:35
  Speaker 5: Bye.
• 29:36
  Speaker 6: Bye, baby.
• 29:36
  Speaker 8: Bye.
• 29:37
Speaker 2: I got to tell you something funny about Deidre. What
• 29:39
Speaker 2: made me laugh when she said, you got a friend
• 29:41
Speaker 2: with a kid. I didn't have no friends with no kids.
• 29:45
Speaker 2: When I was in my, you know, when I was
• 29:47
  Speaker 2: in my 20s and 30s, I didn't have no friends
• 29:50
Speaker 2: with kids. All my friends were, you know, I guess
• 29:53
Speaker 2: they're wrapping it up, but they didn't have no kids.
• 29:55
  Speaker 1: That's hilarious. She's a friend with a kid. R-A-4-2-5-4-7-7.
• 30:01
Speaker 2: Like I said, man, there are a few things that
• 30:04
Speaker 2: show how much pride you have in you. Not being judged, okay?
• 30:09
Speaker 2: Not because you're worried about other people judging you, but
• 30:12
Speaker 2: how you have pride in you. A car and how
• 30:14
Speaker 2: you keep it clean is one of them. Your car,
• 30:17
Speaker 2: no matter whether it's old or new.
• 30:20
Speaker 1: Live from the Just Wing It studios. When it comes
• 30:23
Speaker 1: to washing the car, man, oh, hell no, Ron.
• 30:25
Speaker 2: You have to keep it clean no matter what you drive.
• 30:28
Speaker 1: I agree with that. You have to run your, you
• 30:30
Speaker 1: have to take care of that. You have to make sure.
• 30:33
Speaker 2: Your ride is clean regardless of whether it's an older
• 30:36
Speaker 2: car or a newer car.
• 30:38
Speaker 1: Yo, Rome, he's young and lazy. Mr.
• 30:40
Speaker 2: Car Wash, $ 10 a month, basic watch if he's so lazy.
• 30:44
Speaker 2: But sounds like he would be lazy to do that,
• 30:47
Speaker 2: not even asking his laziness to get off and get
• 30:50
Speaker 2: out and vacuum it at the drive-thru.
• 30:53
  Speaker 6: Maybe.
• 30:54
Speaker 1: Yeah, what's going on?
• 30:56
  Speaker 4: Yo, Rome.
• 30:57
  Speaker 6: What up, man?
• 30:59
Speaker 5: I was just having that same conversation with my son
• 31:02
  Speaker 5: last week.
• 31:03
  Speaker 4: Okay.
• 31:05
Speaker 6: He was like, Dad, can I borrow your car?
• 31:07
Speaker 3: I was like, no, wash your car.
• 31:12
Speaker 4: And I was like, man, son. And I had a
• 31:13
  Speaker 4: 1990 MPV Mazda.
• 31:14
  Speaker 6: Man, oh, man.
• 31:14
Speaker 4: The inside looked like a G6.
• 31:28
Speaker 2: Yeah, because that's why we cared a lot more, man.
• 31:33
Speaker 2: Back in our day, bro, you would have a butt.
• 31:35
Speaker 2: You'd even armor all the tires. Rims would be all
• 31:39
Speaker 2: tore up, but you didn't care. You had pride in
• 31:41
Speaker 2: your ride no matter what.
• 31:43
Speaker 4: I was like, even the rust was shining.
• 31:48
Speaker 1: That's hilarious. All right, brother. Man, you remember you armor
• 31:52
Speaker 1: all the inside? Oh, man.
• 31:55
  Speaker 4: Whew.
• 31:56
Speaker 1: You had pride, man. You had pride.
• 31:58
Speaker 4: Hey, what's up, Rome?
• 31:59
Speaker 1: Hey, what up, Ruben?
• 32:00
Speaker 6: Hey, Rome, you ain't lying. I had a primer colors
• 32:02
Speaker 6: back in the day with hubcaps on it.
• 32:03
Speaker 4: And you know what?
• 32:04
Speaker 6: Them hubcaps were shiny.
• 32:05
Speaker 4: I had the armor on the tires. You know what
• 32:08
Speaker 4: I mean? Windows were crystal clear.
• 32:10
Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
• 32:11
Speaker 4: Yeah, I even gave my daughter a hard time one day.
• 32:13
Speaker 4: I parked the car in the backyard. And I said, dude,
• 32:15
Speaker 4: you parked right in front of the house. I said,
• 32:16
  Speaker 4: look at you.
• 32:17
Speaker 6: You look like you came out of a ranch. She
• 32:22
Speaker 6: was so mad at me, but I tell you what,
• 32:24
Speaker 6: her car stays pretty damn clean now.
• 32:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's good. That's good, man. They got it.
• 32:29
Speaker 4: I just say, hey, back in the day, we had
• 32:31
Speaker 4: to drag the hose out, the bucket, the soap, everything.
• 32:34
Speaker 4: Now all you got to do is just drive right through.
• 32:36
Speaker 4: And they can't even do that, bro.
• 32:38
Speaker 1: Well, yeah, that's true. Well, yeah, that's true. You're right.
• 32:42
Speaker 4: Remember, we used to get furries before it got warm.
• 32:45
Speaker 4: By the time it was ready, it was ready warm.
• 32:46
Speaker 6: We were already just cleaning the tires off, making sure
• 32:49
Speaker 6: they look good, roll it back a little bit, make
• 32:51
Speaker 6: sure we got the armor on the bottom side of it. Oh, yeah.
• 32:54
Speaker 4: You know what I mean? These kids, dude, I even
• 32:56
Speaker 4: seen one time I drove my daughter's car one time
• 32:59
Speaker 4: through the car wash, and it says that even armor
• 33:01
Speaker 4: all just tires for you when you go through those things.
• 33:03
  Speaker 1: Oh, it does?
• 33:05
Speaker 6: Yeah, because I still got my towels and everything I
• 33:08
Speaker 6: scrub my truck with. You know what I mean? I
• 33:09
Speaker 6: don't take it through them machines. I don't like that
• 33:11
Speaker 6: high pressure hitting my paint.
• 33:13
Speaker 4: Yeah, I get it.
• 33:14
  Speaker 1: I get it.
• 33:14
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 33:15
Speaker 4: That's the truth, bro. I didn't know they did that.
• 33:18
Speaker 4: You need to take a little break, bro. All right.
• 33:21
  Speaker 5: Later, bro.
• 33:23
Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, you had to look clean.
• 33:25
Speaker 2: I remember my grandfather used to get up every Saturday
• 33:29
Speaker 2: morning and make sure my grandma's car was, was, uh,
• 33:32
  Speaker 2: clean every Saturday.
• 33:35
Speaker 1: So she was, she was ready for Monday when she
• 33:37
  Speaker 1: went to work.
• 33:37
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 33:38
Speaker 2: You got to keep it clean, man. No matter what
• 33:39
Speaker 2: you drive, you got to keep it clean. How would
• 33:41
Speaker 2: you send me here? Um, Hey Rome, you gotta, you
• 33:47
Speaker 2: gotta keep it clean, especially if it's, uh, if it's black,
• 33:51
Speaker 2: if not, uh, You can see all, yeah, you got
• 33:54
Speaker 2: to keep a black truck clean.
• 33:55
  Speaker 1: Absolutely. R84254, 727.
• 33:58
Speaker 2: Hey, Rome, my son is the same way right now.
• 34:02
  Speaker 2: He's 16-year-old, just bought him a car, and I put
• 34:04
Speaker 2: that Mr. Car Wash monthly membership on it. Had it
• 34:08
Speaker 2: for a month now.
• 34:08
Speaker 1: He hasn't used it once, Rome.
• 34:12
Speaker 2: So last night, I had to teach him how to
• 34:15
Speaker 2: check his oil because he didn't even know how to
• 34:19
Speaker 2: open the hood. And then I had to teach him
• 34:22
Speaker 2: help him hand wash his car because he said he's
• 34:26
Speaker 2: never been through the Mr.
• 34:27
Speaker 1: Car Wash and he gets nervous.
• 34:29
Speaker 2: So I'm about to go with him to do that.
• 34:31
Speaker 2: But I guess part of it is on me, though,
• 34:34
Speaker 2: because he had the luxury to be able to focus
• 34:37
Speaker 2: on school basketball, basketball girls, et cetera, other things. Me,
• 34:42
Speaker 2: I had no choice. I had to service my own vehicles.
• 34:44
Speaker 2: wash my own vehicles you know yeah i know that's
• 34:47
Speaker 2: but to be fair i mean to be honest about
• 34:50
Speaker 2: it and i don't have time to get into this
• 34:52
Speaker 2: because michael bean's going to be coming in a few
• 34:54
  Speaker 2: minutes but and.
• 34:55
Speaker 1: Maybe i'll write this down but we just were sent
• 34:58
Speaker 1: out in death traps i mean.
• 35:00
Speaker 2: Our parents gave us the cheapest buckets they could and
• 35:06
Speaker 2: sent us into the world you know So we had
• 35:11
Speaker 2: to know how to do all that stuff.
• 35:13
Speaker 1: Good morning, Al. What's going on?
• 35:14
Speaker 6: You know what I mean?
• 35:14
Speaker 3: I got to agree with you on the whole dirty
• 35:16
  Speaker 3: car thing.
• 35:17
  Speaker 1: What about it?
• 35:18
Speaker 3: You know, it upsets me when I see Teslas and the,
• 35:22
Speaker 3: what is that, the Cybertrucks rolling around all dirty.
• 35:25
Speaker 1: Those aren't even real cars, dude. Come on. Those look
• 35:27
Speaker 1: stupid to begin with. They probably look better dirty than clean.
• 35:31
Speaker 3: But take it even a step further.
• 35:33
  Speaker 6: Before I had a car.
• 35:34
Speaker 4: I always had to keep my shoes clean.
• 35:37
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 35:37
Speaker 3: It didn't matter if I was wearing shoes.
• 35:39
  Speaker 8: Why are you.
• 35:40
Speaker 1: Always trying to change the subject on some dances? This
• 35:43
  Speaker 1: is my show.
• 35:45
Speaker 2: This fool always trying to change the topic of what
• 35:48
Speaker 2: I'm talking about, okay? I'm trying to tell my friend's
• 35:51
Speaker 2: son he need to clean his car no matter what.
• 35:53
Speaker 2: Whether it's a bucket or not, this fool want to
• 35:55
Speaker 2: talk about shoes. Raider Dave, I keep telling Raider Dave,
• 36:00
Speaker 2: go get you a podcast. Go get you a YouTube channel.
• 36:04
Speaker 2: You'll be a millionaire by Friday.
• 36:07
  Speaker 4: Do you know?
• 36:08
Speaker 1: Stop trying to use... This is my show, okay?
• 36:11
Speaker 2: You guys, all of you guys, if you don't like
• 36:12
Speaker 2: what I'm talking about, there's other shows to listen to, or.
• 36:15
Speaker 1: You can go start your own. It's real easy. It's free,
• 36:17
Speaker 1: I think, to start your own. All right, so Michael
• 36:20
  Speaker 1: Bean is here.
• 36:20
Speaker 2: It's Thursday from the Marriage and Family Center, 661-327... Michael,
• 36:23
  Speaker 2: is it 5100?
• 36:23
  Speaker 1: 327-5100, right?
• 36:23
  Speaker 2: Okay.
• 36:24
  Speaker 8: 327-5100.
• 36:24
Speaker 1: Good morning, Michael. Sorry, I forgot what it was.
• 36:27
  Speaker 4: Good morning.
• 36:34
Speaker 3: How are you this morning?
• 36:36
Speaker 1: You know, I'm doing great. How are you?
• 36:38
  Speaker 4: How are you?
• 36:39
  Speaker 1: How are you?
• 36:40
Speaker 4: Yeah, doing all right.
• 36:41
Speaker 3: I can probably hear the allergies.
• 36:43
Speaker 1: In my nose right now. Allergy season. I thought allergy
• 36:47
Speaker 1: season was over. So I was going to... My gosh,
• 36:52
Speaker 1: what was I going to talk to you about? I
• 36:53
  Speaker 1: totally forgot.
• 36:55
Speaker 3: We celebrate allergy season all.
• 36:57
  Speaker 6: Year long here.
• 36:58
  Speaker 3: That's true, though.
• 37:05
Speaker 1: So, Michael, let's talk a little bit about, real quick,
• 37:07
Speaker 1: I want to talk about premarital counseling. Premarital?
• 37:15
  Speaker 5: Marital?
• 37:15
Speaker 1: How do we say that? Counseling. Something that a lot
• 37:18
Speaker 1: of people don't think about. They just, they're all in love.
• 37:21
Speaker 1: They're getting married. It's the greatest day of their life.
• 37:23
Speaker 2: They're ready to, you know, but nobody ever thinks about
• 37:25
Speaker 2: the day after, the week after, the month after.
• 37:28
Speaker 1: So I thought we should talk a little bit about
• 37:30
  Speaker 1: that first.
• 37:32
Speaker 3: Well, here's the thing. The truth is, in the back
• 37:35
Speaker 3: of people's minds, they are wondering. You know, they look around,
• 37:39
Speaker 3: they see the divorce statistics. So they're like, well, yeah,
• 37:43
Speaker 3: I feel super in love, but I've seen people kind
• 37:44
Speaker 3: of go through that before. And then, you know, within
• 37:47
  Speaker 3: a year, they're at each other's throats. I don't want
• 37:50
Speaker 3: to be that couple. Or maybe they come from a
• 37:53
Speaker 3: family where, you know, hey, my parents had a Your
• 37:58
Speaker 3: parents both, you know, went through several relationships, and I
• 38:02
Speaker 3: just don't want to do that to kids that we
• 38:04
Speaker 3: might maybe have someday or whatever. Yeah, people really do.
• 38:07
Speaker 3: They have in the back of their mind, even though
• 38:09
Speaker 3: they're in the middle of that, I'm just so in
• 38:11
Speaker 3: love and everything, they're thinking, man, but I don't want
• 38:14
Speaker 3: to be a statistic. Well, premarital counseling can really open
• 38:19
Speaker 3: your eyes to some things that can go wrong early
• 38:22
Speaker 3: so that even if they do start to slide sideways,
• 38:24
Speaker 3: you Man, you know right how to get on to it.
• 38:27
Speaker 3: You know how to fix that. If you can't, you
• 38:29
Speaker 3: know what's happening now, you know?
• 38:32
Speaker 1: Why are we so sure?
• 38:33
Speaker 2: I mean, we seem to, as humans, we seem to
• 38:38
Speaker 2: be very confident that we know what we're doing when
• 38:41
  Speaker 2: we get married.
• 38:41
Speaker 1: We don't seem to, I mean, we.
• 38:43
Speaker 2: Have a fear of doing it to some extent, but
• 38:45
Speaker 2: not enough to really go get help before we do it.
• 38:50
Speaker 3: I think hubris is part of human nature. Every major accomplishment,
• 38:57
Speaker 3: you look around, you just see everything. The space needle
• 39:03
Speaker 3: to the Golden Gate Bridge, everything was somebody's. overconfidence that
• 39:09
Speaker 3: they could actually do something huge and so i think
• 39:12
Speaker 3: hubris is just part of who we are and we
• 39:14
Speaker 3: go into things just thinking oh yeah i'm not me
• 39:17
Speaker 3: no i'm gonna be beyond you'll.
• 39:19
Speaker 2: Be fine uh michael bean is here for the marriage
• 39:22
Speaker 2: and family center 661-327-5100 good morning michael.
• 39:26
Speaker 3: How are you good morning good morning all right I'm
• 39:28
  Speaker 3: doing okay.
• 39:29
  Speaker 6: How are you?
• 39:29
Speaker 1: I am doing great. I want to talk about these boundaries, okay?
• 39:35
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 39:38
Speaker 1: Because I think people, well, we just talked a little
• 39:41
Speaker 1: bit about, you know, having that premarital counseling. Maybe That's
• 39:46
Speaker 1: something you probably talk about, boundaries.
• 39:48
Speaker 2: I mean, when you start to live with somebody and
• 39:51
Speaker 2: you have to figure out, you know, what is respectful
• 39:54
Speaker 2: to them versus what's respectful to you because now you
• 39:59
Speaker 2: have to share a home with somebody.
• 40:01
Speaker 1: And there's a lot of people out there.
• 40:03
Speaker 2: Moms and dads tend to not have boundaries with their kids.
• 40:06
Speaker 2: And kids tend to not know how to set them
• 40:08
Speaker 2: with their parents when they actually move out on their.
• 40:10
  Speaker 4: Own, right? Yeah.
• 40:11
Speaker 3: And you mentioned how to set them. You know, that's
• 40:14
Speaker 3: so important. We always kind of like we tend to
• 40:17
Speaker 3: blame the boundary breaker. for their behavior. But the truth
• 40:20
Speaker 3: is we're all boundary testers. That's kind of how we
• 40:24
Speaker 3: know where we stand with people is we sort of
• 40:26
Speaker 3: just kind of bump up against, well, that's what kind of,
• 40:29
Speaker 3: that's what kind of friendly teasing is. You know, you're
• 40:31
  Speaker 3: seeing how far.
• 40:32
Speaker 1: You kind of push somebody.
• 40:33
Speaker 3: Because otherwise you don't know where you stand with them.
• 40:36
Speaker 3: You don't know how far you can push them. You
• 40:37
Speaker 3: don't know sort of the boundaries of the relationship until
• 40:40
Speaker 3: you actually bump up against them. And so if there's
• 40:43
Speaker 3: somebody that's kind of like, well, this person, they just
• 40:45
Speaker 3: break my boundaries like crazy. What they're really saying is,
• 40:48
Speaker 3: I don't know how to set boundaries with this person.
• 40:51
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 40:51
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 40:52
Speaker 2: And when, um, especially when it comes to family members.
• 40:56
Speaker 2: And I think that, um, it's tough, right? You know,
• 40:59
Speaker 2: your mom and dad took care.
• 41:00
  Speaker 1: Of you forever.
• 41:01
Speaker 2: And now you go and start your own life and
• 41:03
Speaker 2: they just feel they can walk in and use your
• 41:04
Speaker 2: house however they want. Um, because of, and then your,
• 41:09
Speaker 2: your husband or your spouse or your wife or whoever
• 41:11
Speaker 2: your spouse is has to, now they have to figure
• 41:15
  Speaker 2: it out.
• 41:15
Speaker 1: And now you got a problem. Um, with your partner
• 41:18
Speaker 1: on what's going on.
• 41:19
  Speaker 8: Exactly.
• 41:20
Speaker 3: Also, boundary setting is done differently in different families, depending
• 41:24
Speaker 3: on kind of the family culture. Maybe you grew up
• 41:26
Speaker 3: in a family where all you have to do is
• 41:28
Speaker 3: kind of look at somebody a little bit sideways, and
• 41:30
Speaker 3: that sends the message of, hey, you're stepping on my toes,
• 41:32
Speaker 3: you need to back up. But in another family, that
• 41:35
Speaker 3: sideways look doesn't communicate that. No, you have to actually
• 41:38
Speaker 3: say something or, you know, there's some other, you have
• 41:40
Speaker 3: to take some sort of action. But in every family,
• 41:44
Speaker 3: these boundaries are kind of expressed and identified differently. So Yeah,
• 41:49
Speaker 3: you've got to get used to a new family culture
• 41:51
Speaker 3: that you're marrying into or forming a relationship with now.
• 41:56
Speaker 2: Well, let me ask you, you know, it's funny that
• 41:57
Speaker 2: you bring that up as a family culture. And that is,
• 42:04
Speaker 2: how do we accept that? I mean, if we are
• 42:08
Speaker 2: marrying into a family that's much tighter... than say our
• 42:12
Speaker 2: family ever was and now they do a lot more
• 42:15
Speaker 2: together they you know they got keys to each other
• 42:17
Speaker 2: like i have keys to my parents houses my parents
• 42:20
Speaker 2: don't have keys to my house though but that but
• 42:23
Speaker 2: other people do and they're a little tighter do you
• 42:25
Speaker 2: have kind of have to accept that when you're marrying
• 42:28
Speaker 2: into that type of situation And the.
• 42:31
Speaker 3: Funny thing is in the beginning when you're all Twitterpated
• 42:34
Speaker 3: in that honeymoon phase, you think that's an asset. You're
• 42:37
Speaker 3: just like, oh, they're so different from me in that way.
• 42:39
Speaker 3: This is going to be beautiful because we'll complement each other. Man,
• 42:43
Speaker 3: it's just like we just fit. It's just like a
• 42:47
Speaker 3: puzzle piece. They have a knob right where I have
• 42:52
Speaker 3: a– A place for the nun to go in.
• 42:55
  Speaker 6: And we do.
• 42:56
Speaker 3: We think that way. We just think that that's just
• 42:59
Speaker 3: the essence of compatibility. And then a year later, after
• 43:03
Speaker 3: the honeymoon phase has kind of gone, after you're not
• 43:05
Speaker 3: so starry-eyed, you're kind of going, well, it's like we
• 43:09
Speaker 3: can't do anything without your family involved.
• 43:12
  Speaker 4: What the heck?
• 43:13
Speaker 3: Once you kind of get over that starry-eyed thing, you
• 43:16
Speaker 3: start to see that, wait a minute, my life is
• 43:19
Speaker 3: going to be a little bit different than I imagined it.
• 43:21
  Speaker 1: Well, do you....
• 43:24
Speaker 2: Just as a side note, Michael, in your experience, do
• 43:27
Speaker 2: you see that couples that are more alike get along
• 43:30
Speaker 2: better than couples that are opposites?
• 43:33
Speaker 1: Or is it just maybe a 50-50 thing?
• 43:34
  Speaker 4: So....
• 43:40
Speaker 3: I see a lot of couples who are very different
• 43:42
Speaker 3: from each other. I mean, just have fundamental core differences
• 43:45
Speaker 3: who get along great. I see couples who just come
• 43:49
Speaker 3: from the same almost practical upbringing. They could have been
• 43:52
Speaker 3: brought up in this by identical twins raised apart. But
• 43:58
Speaker 3: they and they and they have issues. I don't know
• 44:02
Speaker 3: that it's the number or kind of differences that. as
• 44:06
Speaker 3: much as it is how those differences are dealt with
• 44:09
Speaker 3: and respected versus, you know.
• 44:11
Speaker 1: If I come from a family that's just.
• 44:13
Speaker 3: Sort of in your face and I'm not, I'm not
• 44:17
Speaker 3: really having to worry too much about your feelings and
• 44:19
Speaker 3: you come from a family where it's just like, Oh,
• 44:21
Speaker 3: you don't say things like that. That's just not okay.
• 44:25
Speaker 3: There's going to be an issue.
• 44:26
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 44:26
  Speaker 8: Yeah.
• 44:27
  Speaker 5: All right.
• 44:28
Speaker 1: Michael Bean is here from the marriage and family center.
• 44:31
  Speaker 6: 661-327-5100.
• 44:32
Speaker 1: Good morning, Michael. Good morning. All right, so a little
• 44:39
Speaker 1: bit more about boundaries. You know, when we look at
• 44:41
Speaker 1: the family, you look at parents. Parents tend to, some
• 44:45
Speaker 1: have real boundaries and some don't. You know, they just
• 44:48
Speaker 1: feel that that's my child's home.
• 44:50
Speaker 2: I can have a key. I can do whatever I want.
• 44:53
Speaker 2: But you brought a point that I know is before,
• 44:59
Speaker 2: during the songs, was the trust. When you move in
• 45:01
Speaker 2: with somebody, trust and respect is kind of what it
• 45:04
Speaker 2: comes down to. And then when you deal with the
• 45:08
Speaker 2: boundaries within your own home, each other, your spouse, your partner,
• 45:11
Speaker 2: whatever it is, you guys have to have boundaries also, right?
• 45:14
Speaker 2: And then you expand that out to friends. And that's
• 45:19
Speaker 2: all stuff that has to.
• 45:20
  Speaker 1: Be worked out.
• 45:22
  Speaker 2: And apparently, we've learned that it's on-the-job training, I guess.
• 45:27
Speaker 2: In the world of relationships, instead of actually having conversations
• 45:30
Speaker 2: and figuring it all out.
• 45:32
Speaker 3: Right, and if you try to set a boundary with
• 45:35
Speaker 3: somebody really, really rigidly, you try really hard, and that
• 45:39
Speaker 3: boundary gets broken, particularly if it gets broken repeatedly, then
• 45:44
Speaker 3: it does become really hard to believe that you can
• 45:47
Speaker 3: have boundaries be respected. And so, yeah, how can you
• 45:51
Speaker 3: trust somebody that you've tried to set boundaries with, and
• 45:53
Speaker 3: they've repeatedly broken those boundaries? So it really does come
• 45:56
Speaker 3: down to trust. That's the whole thing. If you go, hey,
• 46:00
Speaker 3: wait a minute, you're stepping on my toes here. That hurts. And,
• 46:03
Speaker 3: you know, your partner's just like, get over it. Or
• 46:07
Speaker 3: I'm sorry again, but in 20 seconds, I'm on your
• 46:10
Speaker 3: toes again. You know, I mean, pretty soon you don't
• 46:13
Speaker 3: feel very safe in your relationship.
• 46:15
Speaker 2: Well, we look at all these and we look at
• 46:17
Speaker 2: these things that couples do in their homes. You know,
• 46:20
Speaker 2: one person may not like to do the dishes every day.
• 46:22
Speaker 2: One person may want them done every day. And now
• 46:25
Speaker 2: we got to figure out, well, how are we going
• 46:28
Speaker 2: to work this out?
• 46:29
Speaker 1: You know, what is the... What do we do? You know,
• 46:34
Speaker 1: when I think about boundaries, I think about things like that, Michael, or.
• 46:36
Speaker 2: I want to do laundry more often than you do,
• 46:39
Speaker 2: or I want things picked up off the floor more
• 46:41
Speaker 2: often than you do, or we both don't care about it.
• 46:45
Speaker 1: Who's going to do it?
• 46:47
Speaker 3: Sometimes we have different values, and then how those values
• 46:49
Speaker 3: get expressed in a way that we're both going to
• 46:51
Speaker 3: be okay with, that's going to be important to our
• 46:55
Speaker 3: lives together. If we want to feel like partners to
• 46:57
Speaker 3: each other, we gotta not blow each other off just
• 47:01
Speaker 3: because we have different values from our partner, nor should
• 47:04
Speaker 3: we feel picked on because we have different, you know,
• 47:07
Speaker 3: it's just like, no, I'm not put upon and no, uh,
• 47:12
Speaker 3: they're not just blowing me off. I just, we've just gotta,
• 47:15
Speaker 3: we've gotta figure this out. We've gotta see eye to eye.
• 47:18
Speaker 2: How, how do you feel Michael about, and I believe
• 47:21
Speaker 2: we've had this conversation years ago. If, if, if you
• 47:24
Speaker 2: don't like something or you like, like, like, I don't
• 47:28
Speaker 2: know if I ever told you, but I like my,
• 47:30
Speaker 2: I have one patch of carpet in my house and
• 47:32
Speaker 2: I want it to be clean. So I have a
• 47:34
Speaker 2: steam cleaner. Actually, I have two of them and I
• 47:37
Speaker 2: clean it whenever I feel like it. But if you
• 47:39
Speaker 2: live with somebody who's like, ah, well, you don't really
• 47:42
Speaker 2: need to do it all that much, blah, blah, blah.
• 47:44
Speaker 2: And then you start to feel like you're the only
• 47:46
  Speaker 2: one doing something.
• 47:47
  Speaker 8: But.
• 47:48
Speaker 1: You're the one that wants it done.
• 47:50
Speaker 6: It's important to you.
• 47:53
Speaker 2: But then you start to get a little jaded and go, well,
• 47:55
Speaker 2: wait a second. You're not helping me out. Well, it's
• 47:58
Speaker 2: kind of my problem.
• 47:59
Speaker 1: I created myself. It's not your problem.
• 48:02
Speaker 2: But then we get into arguments about it, and you
• 48:05
Speaker 2: start to go, well, wait a second. If you want
• 48:08
Speaker 2: the dishes done every single day, and you're doing them
• 48:12
Speaker 2: every single day, I could see somebody get jaded and go, well,
• 48:15
Speaker 2: wait a second, there's other people that live here. Why
• 48:16
Speaker 2: aren't you helping me out even though you know that's
• 48:18
Speaker 2: what I want? How do you see that, Michael? Do
• 48:21
Speaker 2: you see there's a problem for everybody or one person?
• 48:25
Speaker 3: So just like we've come back to before, You see
• 48:30
Speaker 3: it over and over again that these little differences, these
• 48:32
Speaker 3: little slight annoyances, you know, hey, how come it's always
• 48:35
Speaker 3: on me this? Or, you know, why are you always
• 48:38
Speaker 3: pressuring me to do this thing that isn't really important?
• 48:41
Speaker 3: Those little things that are differences are nothing in a
• 48:44
Speaker 3: good relationship. If we get along really well in every
• 48:47
Speaker 3: other aspect, if our needs are being met, we have
• 48:49
Speaker 3: plenty of together time, we have some separate time, and
• 48:53
Speaker 3: we don't– we just feel like, wow, this is just
• 48:55
Speaker 3: the perfect relationship. Then that carpet that I'm the one
• 49:00
Speaker 3: who always has to steam clean means nothing. But when
• 49:04
Speaker 3: other areas aren't being fulfilled, then when we're not sure
• 49:07
Speaker 3: they really care or– It's our own, it's our, like our, our,
• 49:10
Speaker 3: our ego starts to get into it. It's like, well,
• 49:13
Speaker 3: maybe this is about me and maybe I don't really matter.
• 49:16
Speaker 3: Or maybe I'm not being respected or loved or cared about.
• 49:19
Speaker 3: Then all of a sudden that carpet or that whatever
• 49:22
Speaker 3: that is full of dishes or whatever shoes on the floor.
• 49:25
Speaker 3: Like we've talked about, you know, that suddenly means more
• 49:29
Speaker 3: than just the task. And then now we're maybe in
• 49:31
Speaker 3: trouble now. That's actually acting like a litmus test for
• 49:36
  Speaker 3: the whole relationship.
• 49:37
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 49:38
Speaker 2: It's funny that you say that, Michael, because I have
• 49:40
Speaker 2: some friends, and they could literally be in the middle
• 49:43
Speaker 2: of a home improvement.
• 49:45
Speaker 1: And if I call them and be like, hey, what
• 49:46
Speaker 1: are you guys doing? Let's go have a beer. They'll
• 49:48
Speaker 1: be like, well, we could do the home improvement tomorrow.
• 49:50
Speaker 1: Let's just roll. We don't need to do it today.
• 49:55
Speaker 1: We could wait until tomorrow. Senator, good morning, Michael.
• 50:01
  Speaker 6: Good morning.
• 50:02
  Speaker 4: All right, 661-327-5100.
• 50:02
  Speaker 1: Good morning.
• 50:05
Speaker 2: We were talking about trust, Michael, and I guess we
• 50:10
Speaker 2: just assume that we trust each other when we get married,
• 50:12
Speaker 2: when we move in together, when we do all these things.
• 50:15
Speaker 1: It's just supposed to be there.
• 50:17
Speaker 3: And usually it is at first, yeah.
• 50:19
Speaker 1: At first. How long does that usually last, Michael?
• 50:23
Speaker 2: Is there a study shown on how long the honeymoon
• 50:26
Speaker 2: phase of moving in together lasts?
• 50:29
Speaker 3: Yes, that trust, that unconditional trust lasts exactly until you
• 50:33
Speaker 3: step on my toes.
• 50:34
  Speaker 5: No!
• 50:37
Speaker 3: As soon as you do something that I don't like
• 50:41
Speaker 3: and that bothers me, now trust is being challenged. And ideally,
• 50:46
Speaker 3: in a good relationship, you go, ouch, those are where
• 50:49
Speaker 3: my toes are, you know, back up. And your partner goes, hey, cool,
• 50:53
Speaker 3: I'll figure out a different way to get my needs met.
• 50:55
Speaker 3: Don't step on your toes. And the partner does, and
• 50:57
Speaker 3: we live happily ever after. The problem is when my
• 51:01
Speaker 3: toes get stepped on repeatedly in that same way. And
• 51:05
  Speaker 3: then I lose trust because, A, it wasn't just a
• 51:09
Speaker 3: matter of you stepping on my toes and ouch, that hurt.
• 51:11
Speaker 3: And we had some tears over it, but we got
• 51:13
Speaker 3: over it because you figured out that's important to me.
• 51:15
Speaker 3: And so we figured out about, no, it's just like,
• 51:17
Speaker 3: you know what? You don't care about my toes. So
• 51:21
Speaker 3: that's when trust really gets challenged. When I start to
• 51:25
Speaker 3: not believe that my toes are safe, that you're going
• 51:30
Speaker 3: to actually care when I say this is a boundary
• 51:33
  Speaker 3: for me.
• 51:34
Speaker 1: Now, Michael, I know it's going to be tough for
• 51:36
Speaker 1: you to answer this question because you're not going to
• 51:39
Speaker 1: see what I'm going.
• 51:39
Speaker 2: To ask you. But how many relationships do you think
• 51:47
Speaker 2: people are just overlooking it? because they think they're supposed to,
• 51:52
Speaker 2: or they think they're doing the right thing for the relationship,
• 51:54
Speaker 2: or they're just not secure enough to tell their partner that, hey,
• 51:59
Speaker 2: you're stepping on my toes right now, and you've been
• 52:01
Speaker 2: doing it for 10 years, and.
• 52:04
Speaker 1: I've just been accepting it. Do you think that happens
• 52:09
Speaker 1: more often than not, or we just put up with
• 52:13
Speaker 1: things because we're dumb humans?
• 52:16
  Speaker 4: I think that that's the.
• 52:19
Speaker 3: The idea that I've been suffering with this thing for
• 52:22
Speaker 3: a long time is very often, not always, but very
• 52:25
Speaker 3: often just a story we tell ourselves later when we're
• 52:29
Speaker 3: unhappy about the thing. I think that when we're in
• 52:32
Speaker 3: a good relationship, we really do blow it off. It
• 52:36
  Speaker 3: really isn't.
• 52:36
Speaker 4: That big a deal to me.
• 52:37
Speaker 3: But then later when we're unhappy, then we tell ourselves
• 52:40
Speaker 3: the story, I've been suffering with this. for years. I've
• 52:45
Speaker 3: never been happy about this thing. I've always just kind
• 52:49
Speaker 3: of gritted my teeth and just borne it, but But
• 52:53
Speaker 3: the truth is at the time, everything else really was okay.
• 52:56
Speaker 3: And that was something that you were willing to just
• 52:59
Speaker 3: kind of overlook. I think a lot of times that's
• 53:02
Speaker 3: the reality. But that doesn't help me right now when
• 53:06
  Speaker 3: I'm in a relationship that's all stressed out, when I
• 53:09
Speaker 3: haven't been able to set meaningful boundaries. My partner has
• 53:12
Speaker 3: broken them repeatedly. And now I'm sitting there going, is
• 53:15
Speaker 3: this the kind of relationship that I want? We talk
• 53:19
Speaker 3: about breaking boundaries as causing distrust, but there is a
• 53:23
Speaker 3: level of distrust that you can get to where we
• 53:26
Speaker 3: get into this thing that we talked about discussing next week,
• 53:30
Speaker 3: irreconcilable differences. If you break trust to a certain level–
• 53:35
Speaker 3: it's going to be really difficult for your partner to
• 53:38
Speaker 3: ever overcome that. There's going to need to be major
• 53:41
Speaker 3: changes in you before they're going to trust you. And, uh, boy,
• 53:46
Speaker 3: that's just, that is tough. And I've had couples.
• 53:49
Speaker 4: Have to work good.
• 53:49
Speaker 3: I've had individuals in a partnership have to completely change and,
• 53:55
Speaker 3: and they've done so willingly because they wanted to keep
• 53:58
Speaker 3: the relationship, but it's not easy to change.
• 54:01
Speaker 1: Now, this is going to sound like really a stupid
• 54:03
Speaker 1: question to you, Michael, but, The people listening are going
• 54:06
  Speaker 1: to think this.
• 54:08
Speaker 2: What you believe is important to you when it comes
• 54:13
Speaker 2: to breaking trust in your relationship may not be as
• 54:16
Speaker 2: important to me. We may have different levels or ideas
• 54:20
Speaker 2: of what breaking trust is, but everybody's idea of what
• 54:26
Speaker 2: breaking trust to them in their relationship is reasonable and
• 54:31
  Speaker 2: is real, right?
• 54:32
  Speaker 4: Right.
• 54:33
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 54:34
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 54:35
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 54:36
Speaker 3: If you're not who I thought you were.
• 54:39
Speaker 3: Kind of nothing else matters. The differences that we have,
• 54:42
Speaker 3: you know, how we view ourselves and each other, all
• 54:45
Speaker 3: of that kind of goes out the window if suddenly
• 54:47
Speaker 3: you're not who I thought, you know, you're not who
• 54:50
Speaker 3: I thought you were. And that's what that huge breach
• 54:53
Speaker 3: of trust causes. It causes just that rift in my
• 54:57
Speaker 3: evaluation of how I even see you. Did I just
• 55:01
Speaker 3: kind of miss some underlying aspect of who you really are?
• 55:05
Speaker 3: And if you think that, yeah, it's going to be
• 55:07
  Speaker 3: tough to overcome.
• 55:08
Speaker 2: And The reason I say that, Michael, is because I
• 55:11
Speaker 2: think people look at each other and they'll like going,
• 55:13
Speaker 2: I'm just going to give you an example.
• 55:15
Speaker 1: Well, all my husband does is play video games.
• 55:18
Speaker 2: He spends more time playing video games than he does
• 55:20
  Speaker 2: with me.
• 55:20
Speaker 1: And then her friend goes, well, at least he's not
• 55:24
Speaker 1: out drinking at the bar. At least he's not. And
• 55:27
Speaker 1: to me, it doesn't matter what, at least he's not
• 55:31
Speaker 1: doing this. This is what's affecting her life. and her relationship,
• 55:35
Speaker 1: or whatever the scenario is.
• 55:36
Speaker 2: Everybody will say, well, at least this.
• 55:38
Speaker 1: At least he's not doing that. At least he's at home.
• 55:40
Speaker 2: Well, that doesn't change the fact that I'm not getting
• 55:44
  Speaker 2: what I want.
• 55:46
Speaker 1: So that's why I said that, Michael. It's real. If
• 55:49
Speaker 1: you feel that way in your relationship, it's real no
• 55:52
Speaker 1: matter what your friends or your family tell you.
• 55:54
  Speaker 3: Exactly. I don't think it's a problem if you're saying,
• 55:57
Speaker 3: I don't understand why this is a big deal to
• 55:59
Speaker 3: my partner. That's okay if you're saying that. But you've
• 56:03
Speaker 3: got to realize that it is. Even though you don't
• 56:07
Speaker 3: understand why it is, even though it might not be
• 56:10
Speaker 3: to you, it is. It's important to kind of go,
• 56:13
Speaker 3: but I'm not them. They're different from me, and this
• 56:16
Speaker 3: is a big deal to them. If your partner ever says,
• 56:19
Speaker 3: for example– Romeo, promise me that if your partner ever says, well,
• 56:25
Speaker 3: we've got to talk about this with the therapist, you
• 56:29
Speaker 3: will say yes. You've got to do it. You've got
• 56:33
Speaker 3: to do it. Everybody listening, if your partner ever says,
• 56:36
Speaker 3: you know, I just really feel like we need to
• 56:38
Speaker 3: talk to a therapist about this, tell them yes. Because
• 56:41
Speaker 3: telling them no kind of means nothing. I not only
• 56:44
Speaker 3: don't get why this is such a big deal to you,
• 56:47
Speaker 3: I don't care. Now, maybe that's not what you mean
• 56:49
Speaker 3: to communicate, but that's the message they're getting.
• 56:51
Speaker 1: So what did you say?
• 56:53
Speaker 2: We were talking earlier about cars, about washing your car.
• 56:57
Speaker 2: My buddy's kid, young kid, says he doesn't wash his
• 56:59
Speaker 2: car because he has a bucket. I wanted to read
• 57:01
Speaker 2: these text messages before. I know we had to talk
• 57:05
Speaker 2: to Michael for a minute. Hey, Romeo, I grew up
• 57:07
Speaker 2: in the late 70s and early 80s. My mother would
• 57:09
Speaker 2: pay me a dollar to clean the inside of the
• 57:11
Speaker 2: car and a dollar to wash the outside. That $ 2
• 57:16
Speaker 2: let me play four video games and two candy bars.
• 57:19
Speaker 2: But more importantly, it taught me how to keep my
• 57:21
  Speaker 2: car clean.
• 57:22
Speaker 1: When I got older. I mean, it's kind of important
• 57:25
Speaker 1: to keep your car clean, man.
• 57:27
Speaker 2: I mean, these entitled kids today don't understand because, well,
• 57:32
Speaker 2: they've never worked for anything and or they've never, you know,
• 57:35
Speaker 2: There's just attitudes different.
• 57:37
  Speaker 1: Hey, Rome.
• 57:39
Speaker 2: My commuter car is full of coffee cups. I clean
• 57:41
Speaker 2: it maybe every Friday, every other Friday. I'll wash it
• 57:46
Speaker 2: and whatnot. But the family car stays looking new. 2017
• 57:49
Speaker 2: looks perfect at all times. We get a detail twice
• 57:53
Speaker 2: a year. Headlights always fresh, never.
• 57:55
Speaker 1: Trash in it. Well, that's what you should do, right?
• 57:58
  Speaker 6: Hey, Rome.
• 57:59
Speaker 2: Sometimes I ask myself, what is the Romeo and Raider
• 58:02
  Speaker 2: Dave show?
• 58:04
Speaker 1: Ban Dirty Dave. Oh, yeah, no.
• 58:08
Speaker 2: Raider Dave always tries to manipulate. I keep telling him, dude,
• 58:13
Speaker 2: all you guys. I'm telling all you guys.
• 58:15
Speaker 1: Go get your own shows. It's simple. They're free. YouTube, podcasts.
• 58:19
Speaker 2: You guys will be way, way more important than me
• 58:22
Speaker 2: and make way more money than I do.
• 58:25
  Speaker 1: I don't know why you guys don't do it. What'd
• 58:27
Speaker 1: you text me here? It says, hey, Rome. I was
• 58:31
Speaker 1: hoping you could help me.
• 58:32
Speaker 2: Hey, there's this hot guy that I work with that
• 58:34
Speaker 2: I've been wanting to hook up with him, but he's
• 58:37
Speaker 2: had a girlfriend, and I found out she broke up
• 58:40
Speaker 2: with him a week or so ago. I think this
• 58:43
Speaker 2: is my chance to get some from him. My friends
• 58:47
Speaker 2: say I can't. It would make me look like a hoe,
• 58:50
Speaker 2: and he wouldn't be interested. What do you think? I'm
• 58:54
Speaker 2: not looking for a relationship.
• 58:55
Speaker 6: Well, I mean... Um.
• 59:01
Speaker 2: I think your friends are idiots. I think your friends
• 59:04
Speaker 2: are wrong. Do your friends want him by any chance?
• 59:07
Speaker 2: Is there a chance that your friends want to hook
• 59:08
Speaker 2: up with him? your friends to tell you that and
• 59:12
Speaker 2: discourage you from what I would consider the perfect time
• 59:16
Speaker 2: for you to take your shot, if you're not looking
• 59:18
Speaker 2: at the ship and you just want to, you know,
• 59:21
Speaker 2: have fun for a while with him, then yeah, it's
• 59:24
  Speaker 2: the perfect time.
• 59:25
Speaker 1: He needs to heal. He needs help.
• 59:27
Speaker 2: He needs somebody to be there for shoulders to cry on.
• 59:30
Speaker 2: And why not? Here's the problem with a lot of people,
• 59:39
Speaker 2: especially when it comes to women.
• 59:40
  Speaker 1: You're not a hoe.
• 59:41
Speaker 2: If you want to hook up with a guy that
• 59:43
Speaker 2: you think is attractive and you're hot and he's hot
• 59:46
Speaker 2: or whatever, you guys are whatever, you know, attracted to
• 59:49
Speaker 2: each other and you just want to hook up.
• 59:51
Speaker 1: There's nothing wrong with that.
• 59:52
Speaker 2: I mean, not every relationship is supposed to be a
• 59:58
Speaker 2: long-term relationship, you know? Now, look, I'm not saying go
• 1:00:03
Speaker 2: out with six guys or six girls in one night,
• 1:00:06
Speaker 2: but what I'm saying is having something for a couple
• 1:00:10
Speaker 2: of weeks or a couple of months that's just strictly
• 1:00:13
Speaker 2: superficial and that's strictly something, you know, having.
• 1:00:17
Speaker 1: A good time, There's nothing wrong with that. People need that,
• 1:00:21
  Speaker 1: you know?
• 1:00:22
Speaker 2: And especially, I don't know how old you are, but
• 1:00:25
Speaker 2: especially if you're, if you're not ready for a relationship,
• 1:00:29
Speaker 2: what does that, what does that mean? You get the,
• 1:00:31
Speaker 2: and I don't know what, are your friends in relationships?
• 1:00:33
Speaker 2: Is that why what's going on? But here's the problem
• 1:00:37
Speaker 2: with a lot of people. You think that somebody's a
• 1:00:42
Speaker 2: hoe because they just want to have short term relationships
• 1:00:46
Speaker 2: and Because that's all they're ready for, right? You don't
• 1:00:49
Speaker 2: look at that side of it. You don't look at
• 1:00:51
Speaker 2: the fact that maybe that's all they have time for
• 1:00:54
Speaker 2: in their life right now is short-term relationships or superficial
• 1:00:59
  Speaker 2: relationships because you.
• 1:01:00
Speaker 1: Don't know what's going on. She might be into her.
• 1:01:02
Speaker 1: She might have a career. I have no idea. So
• 1:01:06
Speaker 1: you have no idea.
• 1:01:07
Speaker 2: Not every relationship is meant to be forever.
• 1:01:13
  Speaker 1: It's not.
• 1:01:15
Speaker 2: And when people, people just, what in the hell is
• 1:01:20
  Speaker 2: wrong with you?
• 1:01:22
Speaker 1: Don't, leave her alone. You're fine.
• 1:01:23
Speaker 2: No, take your shot. You know, this is a perfect
• 1:01:27
Speaker 2: time for you to take your shot.
• 1:01:28
Speaker 1: He's going through something. He just got dumped.
• 1:01:31
Speaker 2: He probably needs a shoulder to cry on and a
• 1:01:33
Speaker 2: bed to lie in. And you could be that if
• 1:01:35
  Speaker 2: that's what you're looking for.
• 1:01:36
Speaker 1: Don't listen to your friends.
• 1:01:40
Speaker 4: Hey, what's up, Roman?
• 1:01:41
  Speaker 5: What up, Roman?
• 1:01:42
Speaker 4: Man, I agree with you, bro. Are they wanting a hook?
• 1:01:45
Speaker 4: Are the friends wanting him? Because, I mean, why is
• 1:01:48
Speaker 4: she going to be a hook if you want to
• 1:01:49
Speaker 4: hook up with them?
• 1:01:51
  Speaker 1: I have no idea. I didn't get that. They didn't
• 1:01:55
  Speaker 1: tell me that.
• 1:01:56
Speaker 4: She didn't tell me why. But, yeah, there ain't nothing wrong, girl.
• 1:02:00
Speaker 4: Shoot your shot. There ain't nothing wrong with it. I mean,
• 1:02:02
Speaker 4: he's single, especially you waited until he was single.
• 1:02:05
Speaker 6: I mean, come on. Why are you looking bad?
• 1:02:07
Speaker 4: You're even looking better like that.
• 1:02:08
Speaker 1: You would think so, but I guess we're friends.
• 1:02:10
Speaker 4: You know what I mean? But, hey, hey, Rome, like
• 1:02:12
Speaker 4: I always say, haters and a hate, and some of
• 1:02:14
Speaker 4: those are in your group.
• 1:02:14
Speaker 6: You know what I mean?
• 1:02:16
Speaker 4: So, she don't need to listen to anybody, not even us.
• 1:02:21
Speaker 4: She knows what to do. She's got it going. I mean,
• 1:02:23
Speaker 4: just do your thing, girl.
• 1:02:25
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 1:02:25
  Speaker 4: Shoot your shot.
• 1:02:26
Speaker 6: Don't worry about anybody else because 90% of them fools
• 1:02:29
Speaker 6: are going to hate on you.
• 1:02:31
  Speaker 1: All right, brother.
• 1:02:32
Speaker 6: Later, man. Later, bro. All right, man.
• 1:02:33
  Speaker 1: He's not wrong.
• 1:02:34
  Speaker 4: I mean.
• 1:02:35
Speaker 1: You waited until his girlfriend broke up with him. He's hot.
• 1:02:38
Speaker 1: You're into him. If he's into you, take your shot.
• 1:02:40
  Speaker 1: Now's a good time.
• 1:02:41
Speaker 2: You might even do him a favor and help him
• 1:02:45
Speaker 2: heal after being dumped.
• 1:02:47
Speaker 1: I mean, you might be doing a solid for this dude.
• 1:02:50
Speaker 2: And if you're not looking for, the problem is, you
• 1:02:54
Speaker 2: guys are so dumb.
• 1:02:56
  Speaker 6: R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7.
• 1:02:56
Speaker 2: Hey, Romeo, how can you tell people to date without consent?
• 1:03:01
Speaker 2: Without taking into consideration it being a long-term relationship, you're
• 1:03:06
Speaker 2: never going to give it your all if you think
• 1:03:08
  Speaker 2: it's just a fling. That's not how it works. That's
• 1:03:14
Speaker 2: not how it works at all. You go into it
• 1:03:17
Speaker 2: with a carefree attitude. And it turns into something more
• 1:03:21
Speaker 2: than that based on the enjoyment of the relationship. If
• 1:03:26
Speaker 2: you go into every relationship thinking that person is the one,
• 1:03:31
  Speaker 2: you're just a psychopath.
• 1:03:33
Speaker 1: You're an insecure psychopath.
• 1:03:35
Speaker 2: What are you talking about? Romeo, at least she waited
• 1:03:40
Speaker 2: for him not to have a girlfriend.
• 1:03:42
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 1:03:43
Speaker 1: Because these hoes in Bakersfield be trying to take people's men.
• 1:03:47
Speaker 1: You ain't lying. Check this out. This is what this
• 1:03:50
Speaker 1: woman sent me. She says, hey, Rome, I was hoping
• 1:03:51
Speaker 1: you could help me out.
• 1:03:52
Speaker 2: There's this hot guy that I work with, and I've
• 1:03:54
Speaker 2: been wanting to hook up with him, but he's had
• 1:03:57
Speaker 2: a girlfriend. I found out she broke up with him
• 1:04:00
Speaker 2: a week or so ago. I think this is my
• 1:04:02
Speaker 2: chance to get some from him. My friends say I can't.
• 1:04:05
Speaker 2: It would make me look like a hoe, and he
• 1:04:07
  Speaker 2: wouldn't be interested.
• 1:04:09
Speaker 1: What do you think? I'm not looking for a relationship. Well,
• 1:04:11
Speaker 1: if you're not looking for a relationship, then no. Why
• 1:04:14
Speaker 1: are your friends betting against you? That's the problem. I
• 1:04:17
Speaker 1: think your friends are wrong.
• 1:04:18
Speaker 2: And I think this is a great time for you
• 1:04:20
Speaker 2: to take your shot and get what you want out
• 1:04:22
Speaker 2: of it, and you'll probably make him feel better, build
• 1:04:25
  Speaker 2: up his self-esteem.
• 1:04:27
Speaker 1: All right, 8-4-2-5-4-7-7. Good morning. What's going on?
• 1:04:31
  Speaker 3: Hey, what's up?
• 1:04:32
  Speaker 6: Okay.
• 1:04:32
  Speaker 4: Okay.
• 1:04:59
Speaker 3: Okay. And they were with each other, I think, a year,
• 1:05:03
Speaker 3: and they broke up, and she.
• 1:05:04
Speaker 6: Went right back to this other, the.
• 1:05:06
Speaker 3: One right before this one.
• 1:05:07
  Speaker 6: Okay.
• 1:05:07
Speaker 7: So I feel like it's like a waste of time
• 1:05:09
  Speaker 7: sometimes for people.
• 1:05:10
Speaker 3: They do rush into stuff.
• 1:05:12
Speaker 7: Like, you know, you need to wait.
• 1:05:15
Speaker 3: When you break up with somebody, wait.
• 1:05:18
Speaker 7: I'm not talking about other people to wait on, the
• 1:05:20
Speaker 7: people that get broken up.
• 1:05:21
Speaker 3: Like, hey, if you want, take your chance. Take your
• 1:05:23
  Speaker 3: damn chance.
• 1:05:24
  Speaker 1: But.
• 1:05:25
  Speaker 3: As far as.
• 1:05:25
Speaker 7: Jumping into relationships, like you just said, you have a
• 1:05:29
  Speaker 7: mental issue problem.
• 1:05:32
  Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
• 1:05:33
Speaker 2: You've got to go into a carefree and just, hey,
• 1:05:35
  Speaker 2: whatever happens, happens.
• 1:05:37
Speaker 1: And if something happens, oh, my God, something happened. Now
• 1:05:40
  Speaker 1: we're boyfriend-girlfriend. Now we're in a relationship.
• 1:05:42
Speaker 4: Now we're married. Whatever.
• 1:05:43
Speaker 2: But if you go into it thinking, this is the
• 1:05:45
Speaker 2: person I'm going to marry, I mean, when it doesn't
• 1:05:47
Speaker 2: work out, then you're going into the next one thinking
• 1:05:49
  Speaker 2: the same thing.
• 1:05:50
Speaker 1: What kind of psychopath are you?
• 1:05:52
  Speaker 5: Yep.
• 1:05:53
Speaker 7: You see gross me posting, I'm in love.
• 1:05:55
Speaker 1: You don't even know.
• 1:05:56
Speaker 7: What the heck is love.
• 1:05:58
Speaker 5: You just said yesterday.
• 1:06:00
Speaker 1: What the fuck? You in love, you don't even know
• 1:06:03
Speaker 1: where he live or his last name.
• 1:06:04
Speaker 6: But you in love. No, he's still with his baby mama.
• 1:06:11
Speaker 1: Hey, you can't be in love if you ain't met
• 1:06:13
  Speaker 1: his kids yet.
• 1:06:17
  Speaker 6: Oh, no.
• 1:06:18
Speaker 7: That's just it. These girls and then bakers will be
• 1:06:21
Speaker 7: letting these men meet their kids right away, but these
• 1:06:23
Speaker 7: men don't get it.
• 1:06:26
Speaker 4: You got to find that stuff out on your own.
• 1:06:28
  Speaker 1: Oh, that's hilarious.
• 1:06:29
  Speaker 6: All right.
• 1:06:30
Speaker 1: Well, thanks for calling. I appreciate it.
• 1:06:34
Speaker 2: Look, man, just so you guys know, not every relationship
• 1:06:40
  Speaker 2: is a long-term relationship.
• 1:06:42
  Speaker 1: Okay?
• 1:06:42
Speaker 2: Some relationships are just flings. For a lot of different reasons.
• 1:06:47
Speaker 2: When I was in college, this girl I went to
• 1:06:50
Speaker 2: college with, she was high society, right? Country club, millionaire parents,
• 1:06:56
Speaker 2: multi-multi-millionaire parents, just way out.
• 1:07:00
Speaker 1: Of my league. And you know what? She went slumming.
• 1:07:05
Speaker 1: She wanted to hang out. And you know what? I did.
• 1:07:08
Speaker 2: But you don't go into it knowing, ah, this is
• 1:07:10
Speaker 2: the girl. She's the hottest, richest girl at school.
• 1:07:13
Speaker 1: What are you going to do?
• 1:07:13
  Speaker 5: No.
• 1:07:15
Speaker 1: She's way out of my league.
• 1:07:16
Speaker 2: There's no way I could ever afford to provide a
• 1:07:18
Speaker 2: lifestyle for her that she's used to. The one that
• 1:07:23
Speaker 2: her dad provides for her. You know, there's another guy
• 1:07:26
Speaker 2: for that. That guy's, there's another guy for that because
• 1:07:29
Speaker 2: that's the guy that's going to, and she is. Right now,
• 1:07:32
  Speaker 2: she's married to some multimillionaire, doesn't work, drives a G-Wagon,
• 1:07:36
Speaker 2: does all, you know. I mean, we stayed friends afterwards,
• 1:07:38
Speaker 2: but we both knew. We were just, hey, a couple
• 1:07:41
Speaker 2: of months, went out for a couple of months, and
• 1:07:42
Speaker 2: that's all it was ever.
• 1:07:44
Speaker 1: Going to be You know, I like to party.
• 1:07:47
Speaker 2: I have friends that own bars, so she liked to
• 1:07:49
Speaker 2: party and hang out, got it out of her system,
• 1:07:50
Speaker 2: and now she's, you know, whatever.
• 1:07:52
Speaker 1: But you have to know that going in. And that's
• 1:07:55
Speaker 1: where a lot of.
• 1:07:56
Speaker 2: You get, you know, you get messed up because you
• 1:07:59
Speaker 2: don't realize every relationship is happily ever after with a
• 1:08:03
Speaker 2: marriage and a kid and a white picket fence, you know,
• 1:08:06
Speaker 2: and a Yukon. It's just not how it works. And
• 1:08:10
Speaker 2: the sooner you realize that, the better off you'll be.
• 1:08:13
  Speaker 4: What up, Romeo?
• 1:08:14
  Speaker 1: What up, man?
• 1:08:16
  Speaker 3: Hi, man.
• 1:08:17
Speaker 4: I got to answer that question, bro. I was thinking
• 1:08:19
Speaker 4: about it for a couple minutes, but I got an
• 1:08:21
Speaker 4: answer for you. Okay. All right. So, look. If I
• 1:08:24
Speaker 4: was a guy and the female broke up with.
• 1:08:28
Speaker 5: Me and there was.
• 1:08:30
Speaker 4: A girl interested in me and we see each other
• 1:08:33
  Speaker 4: every day.
• 1:08:33
Speaker 5: At work or whatever days they work, I would say, hey,
• 1:08:38
  Speaker 5: let's agree.
• 1:08:38
Speaker 4: On a place, a time, and a date. And nothing
• 1:08:43
Speaker 4: more than just a freaking hookup. Okay.
• 1:08:46
  Speaker 7: Okay.
• 1:08:47
Speaker 1: I think every man thinks like that. I don't think
• 1:08:50
Speaker 1: you're original. I think every dude thinks like that.
• 1:08:53
Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, most definitely.
• 1:08:55
Speaker 6: Who's not going to get a female that is interested
• 1:08:57
Speaker 6: in you, especially after a breakup?
• 1:08:59
  Speaker 5: Bro?
• 1:09:00
  Speaker 6: I know.
• 1:09:00
Speaker 4: Like, take advantage of it, dude.
• 1:09:04
Speaker 5: Yeah, but we don't.
• 1:09:09
Speaker 1: Know how he feels. We just know what she wants
• 1:09:11
Speaker 1: to do. So we only got her side of it.
• 1:09:13
Speaker 1: He might be down. At least I hope he's down.
• 1:09:15
Speaker 1: But we'll see what happens.
• 1:09:17
  Speaker 4: I guess.
• 1:09:18
  Speaker 7: Yeah, that's true.
• 1:09:18
Speaker 6: That's true. Also, one more thing.
• 1:09:20
  Speaker 1: What?
• 1:09:20
  Speaker 3: Go Broncos.
• 1:09:21
  Speaker 4: All right.
• 1:09:22
Speaker 1: Good morning, Al. What's going on?
• 1:09:26
Speaker 4: Romeo, I kind of feel flattered.
• 1:09:29
  Speaker 5: Uh.
• 1:09:30
Speaker 4: It sounds like the lady that's calling is Cecilia from.
• 1:09:35
Speaker 3: The bakery department. She's had her eyes on me for
• 1:09:38
  Speaker 3: a while.
• 1:09:38
Speaker 1: You know, at some point, I just got to start
• 1:09:44
Speaker 1: hanging up on him.
• 1:09:46
Speaker 2: I mean, at some point, I just got to hang
• 1:09:48
Speaker 2: up on him. All right, 8-4-2-5-4, 7-7. But I'm with
• 1:09:52
Speaker 2: the first guy that called. I mean, if you're a guy,
• 1:09:54
Speaker 2: you're probably going to feel flattered that somebody wants you.
• 1:09:56
Speaker 2: You're probably going to feel a little better, especially if
• 1:09:58
Speaker 2: you just got dumped. It's going to help you with
• 1:10:00
Speaker 2: your self-esteem that somebody's been looking at you, right? So
• 1:10:04
Speaker 2: as far as she goes, though, her friends are giving
• 1:10:06
  Speaker 2: her terrible advice.
• 1:10:08
Speaker 1: I just don't know why. I just don't know why. Yeah.
• 1:10:14
  Speaker 8: Yeah.
• 1:10:15
  Speaker 1: Um, Hey Rome.
• 1:10:17
Speaker 2: So, so you're saying poor people can't be with rich people.
• 1:10:20
Speaker 2: Oh no, no, that's not what I'm saying. I'm just
• 1:10:23
Speaker 2: saying that this girl I knew in college, um, she
• 1:10:28
Speaker 2: was rich, rich. I mean, there's a difference between rich,
• 1:10:31
Speaker 2: rich and just, you know, upper middle class and middle class.
• 1:10:35
  Speaker 2: There's a, there was a, there's a huge gap is
• 1:10:37
Speaker 2: what I'm trying to tell you between the life that
• 1:10:40
Speaker 2: I look at me.
• 1:10:40
Speaker 1: I'm a dumb DJ right now.
• 1:10:42
  Speaker 2: You know, she's living in a multimillion-dollar mansion driving a G-Wagon.
• 1:10:46
Speaker 2: I can't even afford to spell G-Wagon, you know? So,
• 1:10:49
Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, it was just something that you knew
• 1:10:52
Speaker 2: was never going to happen. It was never going to
• 1:10:54
Speaker 2: be long-term because, well, now her man is some head
• 1:10:58
  Speaker 2: fund guy or.
• 1:10:59
Speaker 1: Something that makes millions. I don't make millions. I barely
• 1:11:02
Speaker 1: make a thousand. So, yeah, no. I'm not saying it
• 1:11:06
  Speaker 1: can't happen.
• 1:11:07
Speaker 2: I'm just saying it doesn't normally happen.
• 1:11:08
Speaker 1: You got to know what you're getting yourself involved in.
• 1:11:10
Speaker 6: Hey, what up, bro? Hey, what up, man?
• 1:11:12
Speaker 4: Hey, see, this is the problem right here. Okay, there's
• 1:11:16
Speaker 4: two scenarios. First of all, homegirl was right.
• 1:11:20
Speaker 5: These chicks nowadays, a single girl, she could keep another
• 1:11:25
  Speaker 5: friend single, right?
• 1:11:26
  Speaker 2: Yes.
• 1:11:27
Speaker 3: They don't want to see each other happier doing better
• 1:11:29
  Speaker 3: than themselves.
• 1:11:30
Speaker 4: Let's get that out of the way.
• 1:11:31
Speaker 1: I would agree with that. Okay.
• 1:11:33
Speaker 4: All right. So the second part is.
• 1:11:36
Speaker 1: Hey, wait, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.
• 1:11:39
Speaker 1: Just like a fat girl will get a skinny girl
• 1:11:42
Speaker 1: fat more than a skinny girl will get a fat
• 1:11:43
  Speaker 1: girl skinny.
• 1:11:47
Speaker 6: Sure, but hold on now, but hold on now.
• 1:11:49
Speaker 3: So what if, hypothetically, let's look at it from the
• 1:11:53
Speaker 3: other angle. What if she's okay with sleeping around, no
• 1:11:57
Speaker 3: strings attached, and she does it pretty often, and maybe
• 1:12:01
  Speaker 3: it's like, hey.
• 1:12:03
Speaker 4: You know, you can't be doing that because you're looking
• 1:12:05
Speaker 4: like a hoe. Maybe that's what she meant.
• 1:12:08
  Speaker 1: Maybe, but I.
• 1:12:10
Speaker 3: You know, because some girls are, you know.
• 1:12:13
Speaker 4: Some girls are down. They're legit. They won't sleep around
• 1:12:15
Speaker 4: or sleep with just one dude. There's girls out.
• 1:12:17
  Speaker 1: There like that.
• 1:12:18
Speaker 2: No, I get it, but I don't buy that premise
• 1:12:20
Speaker 2: that a single woman who wants to, you know, sleep around,
• 1:12:24
Speaker 2: as you put it, makes her a hoe.
• 1:12:26
Speaker 1: I don't buy that premise because you would do it.
• 1:12:28
  Speaker 8: No, no, no.
• 1:12:29
Speaker 4: I'm saying her friends are telling her that because that's
• 1:12:31
Speaker 4: what they're saying she's turning out to be.
• 1:12:34
Speaker 1: Well, she's not, though. Her friends are haters and just.
• 1:12:37
Speaker 2: Let's say the friend is a monogamous woman who's married
• 1:12:40
Speaker 2: and is trying to tell her how to live her life.
• 1:12:42
Speaker 1: She has no business telling her how to live her life.
• 1:12:45
Speaker 2: We and you live such different lives, we probably have
• 1:12:47
Speaker 2: no business telling each.
• 1:12:48
Speaker 1: Other how to live our lives. You do you, I
• 1:12:51
Speaker 1: do me, because we're at different places. I'm just guessing.
• 1:12:55
Speaker 1: But that's what I'm saying about that.
• 1:12:56
Speaker 6: Hypothetically, that's probably what her friend was meaning by that,
• 1:13:00
Speaker 6: and maybe she's taking it as... Oh, she's going to
• 1:13:02
  Speaker 6: say I'm a hoe.
• 1:13:03
Speaker 4: Maybe you've been sleeping around a lot. You're telling your friends.
• 1:13:07
Speaker 1: She doesn't need to be your friend.
• 1:13:09
Speaker 2: A good friend will support you even if you think
• 1:13:13
  Speaker 2: it's a bad decision. What's a bad decision to you
• 1:13:15
Speaker 2: might not be a bad decision to me, okay? Her
• 1:13:20
Speaker 2: hooking up with a guy because they're both single is
• 1:13:23
Speaker 2: not a bad decision for anybody except somebody who doesn't
• 1:13:27
  Speaker 2: like the decision.
• 1:13:29
Speaker 1: And that person is wrong.
• 1:13:31
  Speaker 4: I agree. That's what I'm saying.
• 1:13:33
Speaker 3: Maybe it's her friend that's trying to tell her this
• 1:13:35
  Speaker 3: and that.
• 1:13:36
  Speaker 8: Sure.
• 1:13:36
Speaker 6: When in reality, it's like, you don't know.
• 1:13:38
Speaker 4: Yeah, okay. That's what I'm saying.
• 1:13:40
Speaker 3: Maybe hypothetically, it's her friend calling her a hoe.
• 1:13:43
Speaker 4: No sane person is going to tell. We all know
• 1:13:46
Speaker 4: what a hoe is. Everybody does.
• 1:13:47
  Speaker 6: Okay.
• 1:13:48
Speaker 4: I mean, the two longest relationships I've ever been in
• 1:13:51
Speaker 4: was me just cooking up a chicken, you know, one night,
• 1:13:54
Speaker 4: not a one night stand, but the first night we're together,
• 1:13:56
Speaker 4: we're together. And, you know, I was with some of
• 1:13:58
Speaker 4: these women for five, six years.
• 1:14:00
Speaker 6: And just like you said, it's not always going to
• 1:14:03
  Speaker 6: work out.
• 1:14:04
Speaker 1: They're not always going to work out.
• 1:14:05
  Speaker 4: All right.
• 1:14:06
  Speaker 5: All right, man.
• 1:14:06
  Speaker 1: Appreciate the phone.
• 1:14:07
  Speaker 5: Call, brother.
• 1:14:07
  Speaker 3: All right, brother.
• 1:14:08
Speaker 1: Thank you. Later, man. But that's what you got to do.
• 1:14:11
Speaker 1: Not every relationship is forever after. Okay?
• 1:14:15
  Speaker 6: It's not.
• 1:14:17
Speaker 2: In fact, most of your relationships should be short-term relationships
• 1:14:23
Speaker 2: that may or may not turn into something, may or
• 1:14:26
  Speaker 2: may not turn.
• 1:14:26
Speaker 1: Into forever after. And you guys got to understand that,
• 1:14:32
  Speaker 1: all right?
• 1:14:32
Speaker 2: You'd be a lot happier and you'd make much better
• 1:14:35
Speaker 2: decisions if you understood the reality of life as it
• 1:14:38
  Speaker 2: pertained to relationships.
• 1:14:41
  Speaker 1: Let's see here. All right, 8, 4, 2, 5, 4,
• 1:14:42
  Speaker 1: 7 to 7. Hey, Rome, let's see. She isn't hanging
• 1:14:50
Speaker 1: out with the wrong friends. Meant to say she's hanging
• 1:14:56
Speaker 1: out with the wrong friends. Oh, she's hanging out with
• 1:14:58
Speaker 1: the wrong. She is.
• 1:14:59
Speaker 2: Go for it. And then want to hear the details
• 1:15:02
Speaker 2: the next day. But that's what a friend should do.
• 1:15:04
Speaker 2: A friend, what you think is a bad decision may
• 1:15:08
Speaker 2: not be a bad decision for my life. Now, we
• 1:15:11
Speaker 2: all know there's some obvious bad decisions, but hey. In
• 1:15:15
Speaker 2: the moment, this may be what everybody needs. And just
• 1:15:18
Speaker 2: because you don't agree with it as her friend makes
• 1:15:22
Speaker 2: you a horrible person because you're telling her you shouldn't
• 1:15:27
Speaker 2: do this because you'll look like a hoe.
• 1:15:29
Speaker 1: No, she's not going to look like a hoe.
• 1:15:30
Speaker 2: She looks like a woman who wants to hook up
• 1:15:33
Speaker 2: with a guy who is single who just got dumped.
• 1:15:39
Speaker 2: That could be beneficial to both parties. She gets what
• 1:15:43
Speaker 2: she wants. He gets a little boost to his ego,
• 1:15:46
Speaker 2: and all of a sudden he can move forward and
• 1:15:47
  Speaker 2: everybody's happy.
• 1:15:49
Speaker 4: Hey, what's up, Rome?
• 1:15:50
  Speaker 5: What up, Ruben?
• 1:15:51
Speaker 4: Rome, what I'm not understanding is people calling and saying that.
• 1:15:54
Speaker 6: They could consider her a hoe or something. Dude, she
• 1:15:57
Speaker 6: waited until he was single, you know what I mean,
• 1:16:01
Speaker 6: to want to hook up with him. So how, I mean,
• 1:16:04
Speaker 6: even if she is sleeping around, she's single. She's living
• 1:16:06
Speaker 6: her life. And what's wrong with that? Because maybe you
• 1:16:09
Speaker 6: got caught up with a dude from your high school
• 1:16:12
Speaker 6: that you regret. And now you're mad because she's living life?
• 1:16:16
  Speaker 4: I mean, she's single.
• 1:16:17
Speaker 6: Like, I mean, she waited till the dude was single.
• 1:16:20
Speaker 6: So why the hell is she a hoe or anything
• 1:16:22
Speaker 6: else other than she kept it cool?
• 1:16:24
Speaker 4: You know what I mean? She waited till she could
• 1:16:25
  Speaker 4: shoot her chance.
• 1:16:26
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 1:16:28
Speaker 6: I just don't get it, man. These people just right
• 1:16:29
Speaker 6: away want to label somebody. But how can you label
• 1:16:32
  Speaker 6: somebody that's single?
• 1:16:33
  Speaker 4: I just don't get that.
• 1:16:34
Speaker 6: You know what I mean? She's living life. Why can't
• 1:16:35
  Speaker 6: she live life?
• 1:16:37
Speaker 1: You have to ask the idiot's label in her.
• 1:16:38
  Speaker 2: I don't know.
• 1:16:39
Speaker 1: I'm on your side.
• 1:16:40
Speaker 2: If she's just a single woman, then people's definition of
• 1:16:44
Speaker 2: a hoe is ridiculous based on, I guess, whatever they
• 1:16:47
Speaker 2: believe their values are right or wrong.
• 1:16:48
Speaker 6: She was trying to flirt with them when she liked him.
• 1:16:51
Speaker 4: She already said she liked him.
• 1:16:53
Speaker 6: But, I mean, now he's single. Now she's trying to
• 1:16:56
Speaker 6: see how she can shoot her shot. But come on, guys.
• 1:16:59
Speaker 6: You know what I mean? You guys really got to
• 1:17:00
Speaker 6: know what you're talking about before you run your lips.
• 1:17:03
  Speaker 4: All right.
• 1:17:03
Speaker 1: Get out of here.
• 1:17:04
  Speaker 3: Later, bro.
• 1:17:05
Speaker 2: Well, the problem is the definition of a hoe. And
• 1:17:11
Speaker 2: everybody has a double standard of what's what. You know
• 1:17:14
Speaker 2: the double standard of men. Men can sleep with whoever
• 1:17:16
Speaker 2: they want. They're not hoes. But women sleep with more
• 1:17:18
Speaker 2: than anybody that you consider is too many.
• 1:17:21
Speaker 1: Makes her a hoe, right?
• 1:17:22
Speaker 2: In reality, that's not the reality of life, okay? Whatever
• 1:17:28
Speaker 2: your number of men, whether you're a guy or a girl,
• 1:17:34
Speaker 2: whatever your number is of sleeping with somebody, that's just
• 1:17:38
Speaker 2: for you. And your number's not real to anybody else.
• 1:17:44
Speaker 2: We've had this conversation lots of times about you guys go, well,
• 1:17:48
Speaker 2: there's guys out there, if she sleeps with more than
• 1:17:50
  Speaker 2: two people, she's a hoe.
• 1:17:51
Speaker 1: No, she's not. She's not even a hoe if she
• 1:17:55
Speaker 1: sleeps with two guys at the same time. Okay? You're
• 1:18:00
Speaker 1: just an idiot for thinking that. Well, Romeo, I would
• 1:18:03
Speaker 1: never go with a woman who was with more than
• 1:18:04
Speaker 1: four people. She's 35 years old. It's not even one
• 1:18:09
Speaker 1: a year. I mean, you're an idiot. This idea of
• 1:18:13
Speaker 1: what you believe this arbitrary number is that makes somebody
• 1:18:18
Speaker 1: a hoe because that's too many people for you, that
• 1:18:20
Speaker 1: says more about you than that other person.
• 1:18:23
Speaker 4: Romeo in the morning.
• 1:18:24
  Speaker 5: Every morning. 94.1.
