- 2:20this book. Bring them to fruition.
- 2:23Help us not to see this life as our inheritance God, but help us
- 2:28to live in light of eternity, knowing God that what is next is
- 2:33far greater than any pleasure that we could ever have here on
- 2:37this earth. God, help us to be the men and
- 2:41women of faith that you've called us into.
- 2:44God, help us to not shrink back from death.
- 2:48Lord, help us not to fear death. God, help us to know, Lord, that
- 2:55when we were to breathe our last, we're going to be ushered
- 2:59into your presence. Lord, we know, God, that your
- 3:02Scripture is crystal clear. We know, Father, that you, Lord,
- 3:06are going to get all the glory, God, and it's never going to
- 3:10change, Lord. You win in the end, Father, and
- 3:13so we're on the winning side, God.
- 3:16Help us to realize that, Father. Help us to walk in that bridal
- 3:20identity that we are more than conquerors, God, for you are a
- 3:24good God and you are glorious God.
- 3:26Thank you, Father, for all the many things that you've already
- 3:30done for us today, for waking us up and giving us something to

- 3:38warmth. God for the love that we your
- 3:41God. Thank you that we can know love
- 3:43because you are love. We love you God.
- 3:46We love everything about you. God and Lord, I get out of the
- 3:50way. I decrease as you increase.
- 3:52Holy Spirit, you teach today. Holy Spirit, you guide us, give
- 3:57us discernment for this hour. God, help us to know what it is
- 4:03to do whenever you say to do it. Help us give us the strength of
- 4:07God. I pray in the name of Jesus for
- 4:10power from on high. I pray for healing from on high.
- 4:13God, heal our bodies. Lord, I pray for all those that
- 4:18are sick. God, I pray in the name of
- 4:20Jesus, Lord, heal them. Father, I pray in the name of

- 4:34Lord, clean, I pray in the name of Jesus, you give them all
- 4:39those with the suicidal spirit. God, I rebuke that in the name
- 4:43of Jesus. God, send those devils to the
- 4:46judgment that you have awaiting them.
- 4:49God, in the name of Jesus, Lord, give them a reason to live.
- 4:53God, show them more of yourself. Show them more of your love.
- 4:58God, help them to see a new facet of your face.
- 5:01God, we love you. Yes, God, we love everything
- 5:04about you. Lord, turn your face towards us,
- 5:08God, shine upon us, God, and make us more like Christ today
- 5:14than we were yesterday. We love you, King Jesus.
- 5:17It's all about you, King Jesus, and it's in your holy, powerful
- 5:23and precious name that I pray. Amen.
- 5:27Let's start in verse one. And it came to pass as he went
- 5:33into the House of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on
- 5:37the Sabbath day, that they watched him.
- 5:40You know Jesus, here he is, He's getting invited into one of the
- 5:44chief Pharisees house. He knew that they were
- 5:47duplicious. He knew that they were trying to
- 5:50set him up. Let's see what he has to say
- 5:52about it too. And behold, there was a certain
- 5:55man before him which had the dropsy 3 and Jesus answering
- 6:00spoken to the lawyers and the Pharisees saying, is it lawful
- 6:05to heal on the Sabbath day? He already knew the answer.
- 6:08They had made-up all their man made traditions that try to
- 6:12catch people in the act so they can usurp their authority over
- 6:17them and Lord it over them. And that was not the way of
- 6:20Jesus. Jesus had compassion.
- 6:23Jesus had love. Jesus knew what he was going to
- 6:26do. He already knew the answer to
- 6:28the question. And these Pharisees, they just
- 6:31held their tongue because they knew if they answered one way or
- 6:35the other, it was going to be wrong.
- 6:36So let's see what happens. Four.
- 6:40And they held their peace, and he took him, and healed him, and
- 6:43let him go. 5 And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have
- 6:47an ass or an ox? And it falls into a pit, and
- 6:50will not straightway pull him out on the Sabbath day.
- 6:53And they could not answer him again to these things.
- 6:57So Jesus heals on the Sabbath, and he does it intentionally.
- 7:01And you can see they have invited him into this house to
- 7:04try to trap him, and here he just does what they already knew
- 7:09that he would do, which is to heal.
- 7:12You know, you cannot even come to Jesus and get a touch from
- 7:16Jesus and not be made whole. And the greatest healing that
- 7:20you will ever experience is the freedom from sin and your
- 7:26salvation, friends. And knowing that you're going to
- 7:29stand before an almighty holy God one day and be perfected
- 7:38through the blood of Jesus and be made whole and healed in
- 7:43God's presence and be welcomed and ushered into eternity is the
- 7:49greatest healing that a person could ever receive, friends.
- 7:53And he might leave you in your infirmity here on this earth,
- 7:57and you might even lose your life here on this earth.
- 8:00But what is to come far exceeds anything that we could get in
- 8:05this little lifetime of hours. Don't forget it.
- 8:11They held their peace, and they could not answer him. 7 And he
- 8:16put forth a parable to those that were bidden, when he marked
- 8:20how they chose out the chief room, saying unto them, Eight
- 8:27When you are bidden of any man to a wedding, do not sit down in
- 8:31the highest room, lest a more honorable man than you be bidden
- 8:36of him. 9 And he that bades you, and him come and say to you,
- 8:42give this man place, and you begin with shame to take the
- 8:46lowest room. So Jesus here very simply is
- 8:50saying, Don't try to go to the chief seat beside the host.
- 8:58And then as someone more important than you comes in, he
- 9:02says, Go sit down at the end of the table.
- 9:05And you're ashamed as you get up from that place of honor to go
- 9:08down to the end of the table. And what's he going to tell you
- 9:13here? 10 But when you are bidden, go
- 9:19and sit down at the lowest room. And when he that bade you comes,
- 9:25he may say unto you, Friend, go up higher.
- 9:29Then shall you have worship in the presence of them that sit at
- 9:33meet with you. He's saying, If you go in and
- 9:36you don't think much of yourself, we should always think
- 9:38of others as better than ourselves.
- 9:41By the way, friends, so when you go in and you don't think much
- 9:44of yourself and you sit down at the lowest place and the host
- 9:50sees you down there and he says, what are you doing down there?
- 9:54Come up here as you stand and you walk up to the place of
- 9:58honor. Everyone will see and they will
- 10:02marvel at your position. And we do not seek position and
- 10:08we do not seek titles. But the beautiful thing is that
- 10:12when we take the low place, we will be exalted.
- 10:16But if we try to exalt self, we will be humbled.
- 10:21Friends, it is the way of God, and this is how we should
- 10:28navigate through this little lifetime that we have. 11 For
- 10:34whosoever exalts himself shall be a baston, he that humbles
- 10:39himself shall be exalted. 12 Then he said also to him that
- 10:46bade him, When you make a dinner or a supper, call not your
- 10:50friends, nor your brothers, nor your kinsmen, nor your rich
- 10:55neighbors, lest also they bid you again and a recompense is
- 11:00made for you. 13 But when you make a feast called the poor and
- 11:06the maimed, and the lame and the blind, 14 And you shall be
- 11:11blessed, for they cannot repay you, for you shall be repaid at
- 11:17the resurrection of the just. Here are some biblical
- 11:22principles that we would do well to memorize friends and to
- 11:25meditate upon friends. He's saying that we should not
- 11:30just invite those who have the ability to repay us.
- 11:35We need to invite those that we know could never repay us.
- 11:39And he's saying that we will repaid at the resurrection of
- 11:43the just. Praise God, Hallelujah for the
- 11:45resurrection of the just. I pray that you were there.
- 11:49I pray that you make it there. I pray that you are able to
- 11:53stand in His presence. I pray that you are in the first
- 11:58resurrection where the second death has no power over you,
- 12:02friend. 15 And when one of them that sat at meet with him heard
- 12:07these things, he said unto him, Bless it is he that shall eat
- 12:11bread in the Kingdom of God. Yes, there is a marriage supper
- 12:17of the Lamb that we look forward to.
- 12:22Friends, praise God that this is reality and that we can bet our
- 12:28bottom dollar that we can bank on this.
- 12:30Friends, these are all truths and these are all promises.
- 12:36The Bible is not a book of rules that we must obey.
- 12:39The Bible is a book of promises that God gives to us, and if we
- 12:45will serve Him in this little lifetime that He gives us, and
- 12:49if we will be completely sold out to Him in this little
- 12:52lifetime that He gives us, what we are to gain Far seeds.
- 12:58Anything that we could ever have here on this earth, anything
- 13:02that you give up for Christ will pay dividends.
- 13:07Friends, this is the way of God. And this calls for wisdom. 16
- 13:15And then he said unto him, A certain man had a great supper,
- 13:20and invited many, 17 and sent his servant at supper time to
- 13:24say to them that were invited, come, for all things are now
- 13:28ready. 18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse.
- 13:36The first said unto him, I've bought a piece of ground, and I
- 13:39must needs go and see it. I pray you have me excused 19
- 13:45Another said I've bought 5 yoke of oxen and I go to prove them.
- 13:51I pray you have me excused. 20 And another said, I have married
- 13:56a wife, and therefore I cannot come to. 21 So the servant came
- 14:01and showed his Lord these things.
- 14:03Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his
- 14:07servant, Go out quickly into the streets and the lanes of the
- 14:11city, and bring in here the poor, and the maimed, and the
- 14:15halt, and the blind. 22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done
- 14:20as you have commanded, and yet there is room. 23 And the Lord
- 14:28said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges,
- 14:33and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24 For I
- 14:39say unto you, that none of those men which were bidden shall
- 14:43taste of my supper. This is the parable of the great
- 14:47Supper. We know that he's talking about
- 14:49the Kingdom of God. We know that He's talking about
- 14:52heaven. We know that he's talking about
- 14:54New Jerusalem. We know that he's talking about
- 14:57eternity here, friends. And we can see that He first
- 15:01went to the Jews, and the Jews rejected him here.
- 15:05And there are some in the tribulation that will put their
- 15:09faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and realize that they have
- 15:12murdered their Messiah. But here, here you can see how
- 15:15the Gentiles came in, and it's the jealousy of the Jews that
- 15:19the Gentiles are coming in that actually provokes them to give
- 15:22their lives over to the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 15:26And it's this divine mystery that's all wrapped up in this
- 15:29little parable that Jesus tells us.
- 15:32And we could study a lifetime on all the principles that are
- 15:35outlined and contained in this little parable that Jesus told.
- 15:41But just know that we came in because of Israel's
- 15:47disobedience. How amazing is our God that he
- 15:52is for the whole world? You can see his love for the
- 15:56whole world. He's not just hyper fixated upon
- 16:00the Jews, but they are his chosen people.
- 16:03And how amazing is that cooperative tension?
- 16:06And it all leads to salvation, and it all points to Jesus
- 16:11Christ. 25 And there went great multitudes with him.
- 16:16And he turned and said unto them, If any man come to me and
- 16:24hates not his father, and mother, and wife, and children,
- 16:28and brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also cannot be
- 16:34my disciple. So you remember a couple
- 16:38chapters back that Christ said that He came to divide, and that
- 16:47people will be set against each other in their own household.
- 16:54And you can see here that He is seems to be purporting hate.
- 16:59But I want you to know that this is in comparison to our love for
- 17:05Him. It should look like hatred for
- 17:08our family. And that's a hard word for
- 17:11especially new believers, those that are not rooted and grounded
- 17:14in God's Word. But it is an easy word, friends,
- 17:18when you have finally captured His heart, when you finally
- 17:23understand the gravity of our salvation, and when you finally
- 17:30get to see His beauty on display.
- 17:33When you finally get to see the glory of God.
- 17:37There is nothing in this earth. There is no relationship in this
- 17:40earth. There is no power in this earth.
- 17:43There is no experience in this earth.
- 17:46There is no person, no thing, no emotion, no feeling that can
- 17:53compare to the love of Christ. And in comparison, it drives out
- 18:00all darkness, it drives out all deceit, it drives out all hatred
- 18:05and malice, it drives out all racism, it drives out all of our
- 18:10prejudiceness. It drives out every single thing
- 18:14because the love of Jesus Christ far exceeds any person, any any
- 18:25amount of money, any position, any title, any emotion or
- 18:34feeling. There is nothing that even
- 18:38compares to the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 18:41And I pray that you've caught that.
- 18:43I pray that you've captured that.
- 18:45I pray that you understand that, and that is why when you read
- 18:50this, it is a great divider in your thought processes about
- 18:56God. If you read this and are
- 18:58offended, perhaps you need to go deeper with the Lord. 27 And
- 19:05whosoever does not bear his cross and come after me cannot
- 19:09be my disciple. We cannot fear death, friends.
- 19:12We cannot fear the one that can kill the body.
- 19:17We should not be cowards and we should not have timidity, and we
- 19:26cannot allow fear and faith to cohabitate.
- 19:32One will drive the other out, and if you are trying to hold on
- 19:38to your life, you will lose it. But if you lose your life for
- 19:42the gospel, you'll get an eternal life.
- 19:45Praise God. Hallelujah. 28 For which of you
- 19:48intending to build a tower sits not down 1st and counts the
- 19:54cost, whether you have sufficient to finish it?
- 19:5829 Lest happily, after he had laid the foundation, he's not
- 20:04able to finish it, and all that behold it begin to mock him,
- 20:09saying. This man began to build and was
- 20:12not able to finish. We've got to build our life on
- 20:16the cornerstone. We've got to build our life on
- 20:20the solid rock, and we've got to finish well.
- 20:24That is the parable that is put before us here.
- 20:27We cannot just start to build haphazardly on traditional faith
- 20:35of our grandmother grandfather. We cannot just build on the
- 20:39traditional faith of the church on the street corner.
- 20:43We've got to build our faith on the solid rock friends of the
- 20:49Lord Jesus Christ and the inerrant infallible Word of God
- 20:53and on the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob the Great.
- 20:58I am Yahweh and you will never be put to shame.
- 21:04And those that have started to build on very shallow ground,
- 21:10when persecution starts, they fall away and it is a mocking of
- 21:16the faith friends, those that turn their backs on God and
- 21:20renounce their faith. They were never part of the
- 21:24little flock to begin with. 31 or what king going to make war
- 21:30against another King sits not down 1st and consults whether
- 21:35he's able with 10,000 to meet him that comes against him with
- 21:3920,032 or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends
- 21:45an ambassador and desires conditions of peace. 33 So
- 21:51likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsakes not all that he
- 21:58has, he cannot be my disciples. We've got to count the cost,
- 22:02friends. When you give your life over to
- 22:05the Lord Jesus Christ, don't be surprised if the enemy, our
- 22:10adversary, the accuser of the brethren, actually turns his
- 22:15attention towards you and starts to stir up controversy and
- 22:20starts to stir up dissension and starts to stir up a lot of
- 22:28negative things that happen right after you give your life
- 22:34to the Lord. And if you had not counted the
- 22:36cost, it is in the infancy that you get sniped out, you get
- 22:43wiped out, you get nipped in the bud because before you could
- 22:50even come into bloom, friends, you got dismayed and discouraged
- 22:57and offended and fell away. And you see it time and time and
- 23:02time and time again. You must count the cost.
- 23:06You must make the decision. You must see that Jesus is
- 23:09worthy. You must know that you're going
- 23:12to be ridiculed, you're going to be persecuted, whether overtly,
- 23:18subtly, financially, you're going to have to suffer for His
- 23:24sake, and we should count it all as joy.
- 23:27And if your life doesn't look any different than the world's,
- 23:31it is time to take pause and to make sure that you are actually
- 23:37in the fold, Friends. Our lives should look different.
- 23:42We should not just fit in friends, we are called to be
- 23:47different. We are called to glorify God in
- 23:52the highest, and He will lead us home, and He will show us what
- 23:59it is that we need to do, and He will give us our blessed
- 24:03assurance, and He will let us know that we actually belong to
- 24:07Him. And it is the indwelling of the
- 24:09Holy Spirit where deep calls out to deep, and God confirms His
- 24:14presence in your life, friends. And you'll know that you know
- 24:18that you know that you know that you are His.
- 24:24And if you do not count the cost at the beginning, you will fall
- 24:29away when times get hard. 34 Salt is good, but if the salt
- 24:35has lost its savour, how shall it be seasoned?
- 24:40We'll end on 35. It is neither fit for the land
- 24:44nor yet for the dunghill. But men cast it out.
- 24:48And he that has ears to hear, let him hear.
- 24:53We must stay salty. We are the salt of the earth,
- 24:59and salt in a wound. It hurts, friends, but it
- 25:02cleanses. We need to know that here.
- 25:07Yes, salt makes things bland, things taste better, and yes,
- 25:12this is what we are called to do is season this bland world where
- 25:17everybody's chasing after the wrong things, money and position
- 25:22and power and greed and sex, all of the things that we fill our
- 25:26minds with this reprobate mind. And God is calling us to take
- 25:33every thought captive and have the mind of Christ and to be
- 25:37cleansed. And He tells us to transform our
- 25:40minds with the renewing friends that comes from reading His
- 25:45word, to be not conformed to this world, but to be
- 25:49transformed. This is what God offers us, and
- 25:53He is not the author of confusion, Friends, He's given
- 25:56you a sound mind. And we all would do well to make
- 26:00sure that as we navigate through this life, we are helping those.
- 26:07We're snatching those out of the fire, friends.
- 26:11We're snatching them out of their place here now to be there
- 26:18with us forever more. And don't forget, we are.
- 26:22We are those of us who have taken this faith journey.
- 26:27We are seated with him in heavenly place and he is
- 26:31fighting our battle and He's called us into a war zone and
- 26:37there are so many casualties. Just make sure that we do not
- 26:42have friendly fire. Let's support our brothers and
- 26:47sisters. Let's make sure that we
- 26:49encourage our brothers and sisters.
- 26:52Don't tear them down, friends. Build them up.
- 26:56Let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouth, but only that
- 27:04which is useful for edifying, for building up your brothers
- 27:09and sisters. I hope you've been blessed by
- 27:12this chapter here and Luke, I know I sure have many times over
- 27:21praying for you. God loves you, Jesus loves you,
- 27:32the Holy Spirit loves you, I love you and we will see you
- 27:40back here tomorrow. God bless you.
