- 0:00Speaker 1: Vince Dunn back now for season six in Seattle as
- 0:03Speaker 1: a part of this blue line. First off, good to
- 0:04Speaker 1: see you once again. And at this stage of your career,
- 0:08Speaker 1: how do you view longevity in hockey differently versus back
- 0:11Speaker 1: when you were a rookie?
- 0:12Speaker 2: Well, I think I'm year 10 now and it kind
- 0:15Speaker 2: of flies by on you. And for me, there's probably
- 0:20Speaker 2: some earlier years that you take for granted a little bit.
- 0:22Speaker 2: But now that I'm kind of getting into the age
- 0:24Speaker 2: where I'm starting to think about the end a little bit,
- 0:28Speaker 2: putting things into perspective a little bit more for my
- 0:30Speaker 2: life and for family situations and the way I kind
- 0:34Speaker 2: of live my life is a little different and in
- 0:39Speaker 2: a good sense that I'm taking care of myself a
- 0:41Speaker 2: little bit more and starting to mature a lot more
- 0:44Speaker 2: as a person and really happy the way my career
- 0:47Speaker 2: has excelled and the opportunity I've been given here in
- 0:50Speaker 2: Seattle as a person and a player. So I'm just
- 0:53Speaker 2: so excited for whatever's left.
- 0:55Speaker 1: As far as travels, how was your summer?
- 0:57Speaker 2: Summer was great. It was busy. Grubauer's wedding was probably
- 1:02Speaker 2: the highlight week for me and very beautiful setting for
- 1:06Speaker 2: them both in the northern parts of Italy and able
- 1:09Speaker 2: to explore things that I probably would never think about
- 1:12Speaker 2: going to. So for me, that was pretty cool and
- 1:16Speaker 2: a lot of familiar faces there, which was easy to
- 1:19Speaker 2: bond with and to celebrate with. So super happy for him.
- 1:23Speaker 1: And you saw some current and past teammates out there, correct?
- 1:25Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Next trip, do you go back there again if you
- 1:28Speaker 1: would like, or is there another spot around the world
- 1:30Speaker 1: that you would like to go?
- 1:31Speaker 2: Really began to love travel and go out in my
- 1:33Speaker 2: comfort zone. I think Europe is such an easy way
- 1:36Speaker 2: to see so many countries at the same time with
- 1:39Speaker 2: how easy it is to get around there. But I
- 1:42Speaker 2: would really like to go into the Africas. Not sure
- 1:46Speaker 2: where or what parts, but that's probably my next go-to
- 1:50Speaker 2: spot I would love to see.
- 1:51Speaker 1: And when you're back home, obviously it's right to the
- 1:54Speaker 1: grindstone here and guys are trying to, you know, course
- 1:56Speaker 1: maintain themselves. Do you have one specific drill that made
- 2:00Speaker 1: a difference for you in your off season training?
- 2:03Speaker 2: I think a lot of biking was different for me
- 2:05Speaker 2: this year. I think for myself, it's not always easy
- 2:09Speaker 2: to hit the, I guess, cardio aspect of things when
- 2:14Speaker 2: you're not skating so much. And it's such a long
- 2:16Speaker 2: summer that I don't want to begin skating too early.
- 2:18Speaker 2: So a lot of biking early on to help my
- 2:21Speaker 2: conditioning and For me, that's being able to break a
- 2:25Speaker 2: sweat a little bit easier than lifting weights. And I
- 2:28Speaker 2: think when you have to maintain over the summer when
- 2:33Speaker 2: it's really long, you have to plan things a little
- 2:35Speaker 2: differently and try not to bring yourself out. So that
- 2:38Speaker 2: was one thing I found really helped kind of shaping
- 2:41Speaker 2: me into my workouts. And I really do enjoy riding
- 2:44Speaker 2: the bike more than running.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Take me through some pregame rituals. What matters most to you?
- 2:48Speaker 2: Pretty boring when it comes to pre-game rituals.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Consistency is key, right?
- 2:52Speaker 2: Yeah, consistency. What's important to me is basically not hitting
- 2:59Speaker 2: traffic on the way to the game and starting my
- 3:01Speaker 2: routine at the same time. So that's the biggest thing
- 3:05Speaker 2: I have to think about is planning that. And then
- 3:08Speaker 2: when I get to the rink, it's kind of slow
- 3:10Speaker 2: and steady until warm. Nothing too crazy.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Give me one teammate from the past who had the
- 3:13Speaker 1: funniest superstition to you. There's a few, I think.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a few. Tanev's got a pretty crazy one.
- 3:20Speaker 2: He's pretty reckless in warm-ups. He's probably doing the same
- 3:23Speaker 2: one right now. If you watch him, it's all over
- 3:26Speaker 2: the place. You've got to watch out for him.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Best NHL road city?
- 3:29Speaker 2: New York.
- 3:30Speaker 1: What's your hottest food take?
- 3:31Speaker 2: Pretty vanilla when it comes to food. I don't have one,
- 3:34Speaker 2: I don't think.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Even ice cream, maybe.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I've got nothing.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Even for you, being a guy who loves cooking also?
- 3:39Speaker 1: I love cooking.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I love food, but I don't think I have any
- 3:41Speaker 2: hot takes. I'm pretty boring when it comes to most
- 3:44Speaker 2: of it. I like what everyone else likes. I've got
- 3:46Speaker 2: nothing crazy.
- 3:47Speaker 1: What's your go-to karaoke song, if you could pick?
- 3:49Speaker 2: ABBA song? Or a Drake song?
- 3:53Speaker 1: What's the one teammate you would pay to see do karaoke?
- 3:57Speaker 2: Riker Evans.
- 3:58Speaker 1: What are you streaming online right now?
- 4:00Speaker 2: I am watching a new show called Last Scene. It
- 4:03Speaker 2: drops weekly, so I'm on the latest episode. And I
- 4:05Speaker 2: just finished Silo, which was amazing.
- 4:07Speaker 1: How much caffeine do you drink in a day?
- 4:09Speaker 2: I'm drinking more than I was when I was younger.
- 4:13Speaker 2: I think I'm on the part where I'm a little
- 4:15Speaker 2: dependent on it, which I don't love. Definitely more during
- 4:18Speaker 2: the summer and then during the season, probably only on
- 4:20Speaker 2: game days.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Name the one time a Seattle fan made an impression
- 4:24Speaker 1: on you.
- 4:24Speaker 2: This goes a lot of different ways. I mean, every
- 4:27Speaker 2: fan interaction is different and special. I think the ones
- 4:30Speaker 2: that are most touching is when you kind of hear
- 4:31Speaker 2: someone express a story that maybe gets them through a
- 4:34Speaker 2: tougher time. There's not one specific one, but those ones
- 4:38Speaker 2: always hit home for me that I can easily brighten
- 4:42Speaker 2: someone's day when maybe I'm not thinking I'm doing anything
- 4:47Speaker 2: Out of the ordinary, but just kind of speaking to
- 4:51Speaker 2: someone and giving them the time of day when I
- 4:55Speaker 2: have all the time in the world to do it.
- 4:56Speaker 2: So those ones always mean a lot to me.
- 4:58Speaker 1: So finally, I'll turn this and flip it. What's the
- 5:00Speaker 1: last great place here in town that made a great
- 5:03Speaker 1: impression on you?
- 5:04Speaker 2: Okay, I'll go restaurants because I'm a big foodie. Right.
- 5:08Speaker 2: There's a restaurant in Capitol Hill that's new. It's called
- 5:10Speaker 2: Seed Inn. Okay. They specialize in dry aged foods, mostly fish.
- 5:17Speaker 2: I thought the service was great there, and the hospitality
- 5:19Speaker 2: was great. I could probably list five restaurants that are
- 5:23Speaker 2: my go-to, but I guess that one is the latest
- 5:27Speaker 2: one that I've really enjoyed.
- 5:28Speaker 1: You've seen a lot, and we're looking forward to seeing
- 5:30Speaker 1: more of you. Dunner, thank you very much again, man.
- 5:31Speaker 2: I appreciate it. Thank you. I appreciate that.
