- 0:40SPEAKER_01: Hello to Jens, uh, and uh some DVC stuff and all kinds of Lou Mangello.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: We were talking about Lou.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: He's uh on the adventure.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Uh your wife off in the middle of the ocean on business.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, off in the middle of the the ocean over there in Singapore.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: So um hopefully they're gonna get together while he's on the ship.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: I still am trying to wrap my head around the fact that that boat goes nowhere but the ocean.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: Goes nowhere, just kind of goes out and sails around and comes back.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Bye-bye, Singapore.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, hello, Singapore.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: I will say, having been on that boat and boat that big old boat, uh it's good that there's no stops because there's a lot to do and see on that thing.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: And you well, I honestly because we all know that you know, uh uh, they're not giving away those Disney cruises, but the ships are so amazing.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: I mean, I I gave up island time in the Caribbean because I'm like, I've been here, I have not been on the ship, I want to be on the ship.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: So yeah, it's kind of incredible.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: I'm hoping to get on the the treasure.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: I mean, some really want to see the you will love it, and I'm hoping to get on the destiny.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I actually the next ship I get on may be the wonder.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, sure.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: We'll see.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Well, we'll see what I yeah, there's special privileges Savannah has with that too, where we can kind of go take it.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I bet.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: Not that she wants to do that on her off time right now.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: She does not want to definitely does not want to on a cruise ship after being on one for a long time.
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: Because she'll be about a month, but I understand the drawbacks.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: Yes, exactly.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: Uh so that's why we'll just go to the parks instead, you know.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: Um the parks.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: We love the parks.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, we love the parks, and we're bringing back a little series from from uh the days of your.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: Uh I was honestly surprised when you told me how the how many years the your was.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: I was like, really?
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: It seems like it was only yesterday we we discussed some of these things, but no, it was your ago.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was your ago, and your ago.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: Um, that's funny.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Uh yes, it was your ago.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: I try, but I don't plan it out ahead.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: No, no, I know.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: I just extempor from my mother wit.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we try to we try to make this a classy Disney podcast with lots of literary references.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: Lots of literary, the more literary, the better.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Um on the road to topiary.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Uh speaking of uh topiary, we're gonna talk about it it's to by the way, sir.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, but it's toporary.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Oh, that was what you said.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Topaware, yeah, because you've like sent me texts, and it's like, if it were actually correct, I would not have questioned you.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: No, I you actually said toporary.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: Toperary.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: That's how it became the road to toporary.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Right, and and which reminded me of Tipperary.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, which right, and which I can't set us off on an entire World War I tangent.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: But here's the thing, though, when I try to spell it wrong through text, it just auto-corrects it.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: And so, like, I nothing I can do.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Auto text is very stifling when it comes to creativity.
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: You're trying to make a joke about something that you said that was wrong.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: I did not mean duck.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: Especially if you know me.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: I did not type duck.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: Exactly, right.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: You know, you're you're with me.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: Um but uh what we're gonna talk about, we're gonna dive into uh one of my favorite parks, and I know yours as well, um, Epcot, um, and kind of talk about things that we love about it because we have done this in the past, but it's been four years.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: And things things we love 2026.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: And you know, Epcot, we've talked it in the past about how it blends innovation and culture and food and the vibes in a way that really no other Disney park does.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: And so here we go.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: We're gonna count down our five things that we love about Epcot.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: So, Mr.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: McCall, let's get into it here.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: Uh, what's what's on your list here?
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Let's let's start start it off.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: All right, so my number five, and I I I will say it's gonna be interesting because I think once we've done this, I'm gonna go back and listen to that old episode.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: But I didn't want to I didn't want to listen to it tonight and have it, you know, yeah, yeah, sway my opinions one way or another.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: So uh, but I don't think I picked this one.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Maybe you did.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: But my number five for why I love Epcot, Figment.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I because it just, you know, going back to the idea that uh from the very beginning, Figment was a star.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: He was a star because it was just the perfect, you know, encapsulation of taking an abstract idea like imagination, and you know, bringing that to life in this very fun character.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: And there is a reason that his fan base is rav ravenous.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: No, that just means they eat a lot, right?
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: Rabid?
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: That I think they're rabid, but they also that's a little ravenous.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: But yeah, that means they're gonna have to be put down like old yeller if they're if they're rabid.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: Well, we try to keep all things Disney around here, so even when we're sad, we bring up sad Disney references.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Um but you know, I mean, uh there's a reason that people clamor for his popcorn bucket, and it's just he really has come to be a mascot for that park.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: And which is why, you know, when he went away, sort of from Journey with Imag into Imagination, that everybody rioted.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: It's like you can't a figment and Epcot are synonymous, and he's just a cool little guy.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: And and so so I I chose him, and I do not think he was on my list all those many years ago, but but his resurgence, although as I say, his meet and greet, he a big one.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Um I just I sort of would have expected him to be more in the friends of Mickey and Minnie size, but he a big one.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he was yeah, he's huge.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: Uh, for those out there that are wondering when this uh we first talked about this, it was August 25th of 2022, and it was episode 31.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: So there you go.
- 7:13SPEAKER_01: You can go back four years.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: 31.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: And what was it called?
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: It was called Things We Love About Epcot.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: And it was episode 35.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: Epcot.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: August 25th, 2022.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: And I don't even know what episode we're even on now.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: Um, I couldn't even tell you what this is.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: Uh 400.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: No, not 400 and something, 200 and something.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're at like two.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: This has I think this is 220, so that's exciting.
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: Um there we go.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: Well, that was the 31 was a long time ago.
- 7:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: Uh all right.
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: So my number five is I'm gonna go with the Norway pavilion and the Norway the the shops in particular, but specifically the fjording.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: Um, so that's a one-I think you'd have to pay extra for that in some company in some companies.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: Well, some cultures, yes.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: You have to pay extra for fjording.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: But it's the one I you would know it.
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: It's like it's included in Norway.
- 8:06unknown: It's included.
- 8:07SPEAKER_01: You know, that's the nice thing about those Norwegians.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: Uh, they they just get they'll fjord you anytime.
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: They fjord you anytime you want.
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: Once you're fjord checked out, you go right there.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: Well, it's good to get your fjord checked out, you know, once you hit a certain it is, yes.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, I interrupted your perfectly lovely story.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: I think that is I'm gonna listen to that later and giggle.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: Um, so but this is like I'm sorry, so I'm sorry, you were discussing your fjording.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: Sorry, I'm almost crying.
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: Because that is so funny.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, sir.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: This is no churro in Italy.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: Oh shoot.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: But so you know it, like it's one of those shops that you know probably because it smells so good in there, because it's that shop that has has uh various goods in it, but what I love most are like the fragrances.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: They have some colognes and some sprays.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: Oh, right.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: But is is it sort of connected?
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Is it is it like troll store adjacent?
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's right off of the uh like the frozen gift shop.
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: Like if you kill it.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: Well, what is it over there?
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, what is it?
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no one kidding.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: But you'll know it because there's two scents that you'll know right away.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: One is called Layla, and it's more like a lavender, but there's one called uh Gear for Men, and I'll I'll admit to you something I did buy it this last time.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: It's it's uh the only well no Jack Jackie actually came upon a fragrance that that uh that uh I wear that that was not Disney adjacent, but the very major fragrance purchase that I made was uh from Italy.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: Oh, and it was it was like aqua something, but man, it's and I still have some of it.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know, yeah, that is you shouldn't go through cologne at a great rate.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: No, and I I have a whole I have I have like three shelves of cologne.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: I'm a collector, so so you've had gear from the fjording.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: So I have gear from the fjording, um, and that same designer who was actually at um I didn't wait to like have him autograph my bottle, but he was there when we were there.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: Oh, I I did we they engraved our bottles because Jackie got the yeah.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: Well, I love that for you.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: Well, you're bougier than me, but Aquaparma.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: I think that was the name of Parma.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: I do and they engraved that store's amazing.
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: But this is called Gear for Men.
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: It's by Gearness, who's the the designer that designs all those fragrances, and it is fabulous.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: I'm so happy I bought it.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: Harper was like, You're really gonna buy cologne here, and I said, Harper, I have stepped in this store twice today to put it on.
- 10:50SPEAKER_01: I think it's time.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: And so anyway, and there's nothing like wearing a scent that you know you got from an international location, but you got it at Epcot because that's what Epcot does.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: And it's one of those things that anytime I go to Epcot, I do go in there, like after we're leaving Frozen, like I will go in there and I'll myself and then go about my day and you'll get fjorded.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: And I'll get fjorded and then I'll sweat that all off.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: And by the time I get to Italy, I'll go in that store and put some more on.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: Well, because that's now that now that we're talking about this, that's one thing I probably should have put on my list that is not there is being able to buy international products that you wouldn't see anywhere else.
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: And I did look it up because I'm like, I wonder how much they're gonna upcharge me at Disney versus online.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: It was a little cheaper at Disney than buying it on his website, so I felt pretty good about that.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: Ah, I know.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: So there we go.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: So suck it, Norwegian scent designers.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: So number five is the Norwegian Pavilion.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: Well, then my number four is a total Lumangello because you you went with a lovely, introspective, very isolated Norway.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: And I said for my number four, just the incredible detail of all of those international pavilions.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's great.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: There is always something new to see, whether it's uh what is back there in Japan, the woody bunk woodbunk, woody, woody woodbunk, woody woodbunk, and wanda wanda, wandell, wandell, woodbunk, wandell bunker, woodbunker, wandell.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: Um, but it's just, I mean, so many just little details.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: And you know, it was a theme park.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: Imagineers didn't have to do that, they could have cut corners, yeah, but the whole idea was to make you feel like you were actually visiting the country.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: And and I think no one does that better and does it better anywhere better than they do it at Epcot.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: So just, you know, like those back streets of Morocco that we were talking about, or those inside I guess I'm talking about like off-the-beaten track areas of those countries, especially.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: I love those are some of my favorite things.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: And when Harper, Harper and I spent all, you know, a good portion of Easter Sunday there.
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: And that's something that we did do quite a bit was we went off because it was fairly busy, so it was nice to I heard detours.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: Uh so uh yeah, that's great.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: All right, my number four, and you're gonna be shocked that I'm putting it this low, but I am, is Living with the Land.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: Um I'm stunned, I am stunned, sir.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: I knew I it's it's so special to me.
- 13:42SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: I have I can't wait to hear the other three now, frankly.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: Living with the land is classic Epcot.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: I've said that over and over again.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: It's calm, it's educational, and honestly, it's it's magical in its own way, even though my daughter hundred percent fell asleep on it uh uh uh last week, which was I took a picture of and it's quite funny.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: You did, you sent it to me, and you know, it's just it it's a story you'll have forever.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: Well, she was upset that we had to wait 15 minutes.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: She's like, this had never oh speaking of wait time and living with the land today.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: I took a screenshot because I never thought this will never happen again.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: Uh Living with the Land was 30 minutes.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: This is on uh we're recording this on what is this?
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: What day is it?
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: Tuesday, April?
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: Uh 14th is when we're recording.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: Was uh Living with the Land was 30 minutes and Cosmic Rewind was 40.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: I uh you'll never see that again.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: You'll never see it again.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: You shan't, sir.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: You shattered.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: That was wild.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: Anyway, I love floating through those greenhouses and seeing how Disney I know you do.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: You love you a good float ride through the lettuce.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: I love the lettuce, it's relaxing and fascinating at the same time, and it's a perfect reset ride in the middle of a busy park day.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: And you know, it even calmed my child down.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: She took a nap.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: So and my wife loves to shut her eyes on it as well.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: And it's the only thing for the whole family, really does.
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: And I a core memory will always be me riding it by myself when I rope dropped it on Christmas morning.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: That's that's just the best Christmas present I can think of for you.
- 15:19SPEAKER_01: It really was, and uh, so that's it's it's lower on my list than I thought, but there you go.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: Number four, well, and again, my number three, and now I'm sure I did talk about this, but now I have some new additions.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: Uh, because my number three is the food and beverage, because Epcot has so many of my favorite restaurants.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: Restaurants that I say are my favorite, and yet I haven't been to them in years because I only I only go there a few days every year.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: So that's when I really that's when I really envy a like a pass holder who can just you know go anytime and go eat wherever they want and get all the places they want in in a year.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: But um that just I mean to to try you know Chef de France or Le Cellier and and you know, and now what I will add in 2026 are uh 220 220, uh, which I think is a very cool restaurant with great food, and especially uh their their cocktails.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: I had the black hole fashioned uh there the last time I went, and it was so good.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: But now also, and I know I talked about it recently, but Geo82 is a really nice space with some great cocktails.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: What I hear.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: Next next time I hope we're hungry because we'll order some.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: Well, I guess we did order a little food, but that was not the star of the evening.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: And Jackie will tell me later we did order food or we didn't, so sure.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: Um, so my number three is I totally Lou Mongelloed this one as well, but it's the overall Epcot vibe.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: It's some of the things that you talked about too, but this one's a little hard to pin down.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: But um Epcot just feels I mean, it just it has a it just feels different, obviously, but the landscaping is beautiful and intentional, the background music changes as you move from country to country, and there's a constant sense of discovery, even though you know I walked World Showcase a thousand times at this point, and yeah, you add in the food, argu arguably the best part, and then they're in all the festivals, and so this is where I've lumon gelat a little bit because I'm gonna put in the the the food and wine, flower and garden, and festival of the holidays, the only three I've been to, but it just elevates everything, and there's always something new to try, to see, to taste, and just Epcot's vibe.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: I really am digging as I get older.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: Um it kind of you are stopping and smelling the mouse more and learning to appreciate the parks on a Disney adult level, and I'm very proud of you.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: Thank you very much, and and dovetailing that into my number two, which is the festivals, which I'm sure was on my list before because they're just so fun.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: I mean, the food booths and and the ability to try things at all of those, the menus are always amazing.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there's a couple of duds in there usually, but there's also usually some really great stuff.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: Oh, I did see.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: Did you see that uh it was it refreshment port is now becoming the poutinery?
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: I did see that.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'll be curious to see.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: I saw that on the case.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: It's almost as much fun to say as the fjording.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: The fjording, we gotta have a little poutinery.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: After the fjording, we'll go to the poutinery.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: You gotta you gotta have a little bit.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: I mean, they were they were serving poutine anyway for most of the festivals, so why not become the poutinery?
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: I know, that's what I'm saying.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: Like, why not?
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: Uh, but just so many great uh food and dining options that that you just yeah, and I still need to try Tempan Edo, and I still want to go to Tutou Italia and oh man, there's just a lot.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: Because when I was a kid, when I was a kid and you could walk up to the to the television screen and talk to a human being who could see you and talk back, which was so cool in the 80s, yeah, nobody had seen that before, and you and you got in line as soon as you got in the park to make reservations because they they didn't do 60 day or 180-day reservations back in the day.
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: Um but but we always reserved uh the original Alfredo de Roma, which I mean he's been gone for a while, but I think his contract was like 20 years, and but man, it was it was authentic Italian and so tasty.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I just just yeah, all now I will admit I do not eat at the Nine Dragons.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: I can get good Chinese food at home.
- 19:59unknown: Sure.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: I did learn with Harper, she is kind of a simpleton when it comes to food right now, so like we didn't really eat anywhere, really.
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: You know, we had some snacks and stuff.
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: We did try Regal Eagle because she wanted some chicken strips, and we were gonna go I really want to try Regal Eagle.
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: I have tried it and it's fine.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: I was I I hear the I I hear the reticence in your voice to recommend it.
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it wasn't anything I would write home about, and Harper really wanted mac and cheese, and that was a place that had that.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: Even said that was fine, and like the chicken I had was fine.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: Um, nothing about it was well, she needs to go to the Mickey barbecue place on the ship because it has good barbecue and mac and cheese.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: I know, and I'm trying to get her out of her, although she did discover the pizza at Coronado she was obsessed with, so we got that quite a bit.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: But um, so yeah, there are so many places at Epcot I have not eaten and I want to again, and or I it's just I don't, you know, sometimes I'm just there for other things, and I'm not just there to have a meal.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: Oh, right.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: But wait, did I actually start my number two, which is the festivals?
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: I think I did, didn't I?
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: You didn't maybe not.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: But then we went down Okay, we did, we went down a dark and ugly rabbit hole.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: So I I'm now veering back just to say, you know, there are only what, maybe eight weeks a year that don't have a festival.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, which are probably a little less crowded, honestly.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: I might tell my clients that.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: But man, festival of the arts is so fun and the Broadway entertainment and the visual, you know, some of the photo spots and the the chalk drawing stuff and all the artists there.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: Man, if you had a house that you wanted to stick some classy, amazing Disney art in, go to the festival of the arts because there are so many artists that have such a wide variety of mediums and styles, but all with a Disney theme.
- 21:59SPEAKER_00: I mean.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: That festival is amazing.
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: Flower and Garden not only has great food, but you know, all of those topiaries, food and wine really delves into a lot of interesting cuisine choices and wines from around the world.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: And the festival of the holidays.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: I mean, who you can't beat that really.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: So that is why Epcot festivals are still on my list at number two.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: I think that's great.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: My number two, this is also surprising.
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: This might have been, I don't even think this was this open in 2022.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: I don't even know.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: But Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: I don't think it was.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: Now I think about that.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: I I put them, they're actually on my honorable mention list because I didn't think I could give them a full slot here.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: But no, I they when did it open?
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: I just don't know.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: Certainly post-pandemic.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: It might have been like in 22, 22 or 23, maybe.
- 22:53SPEAKER_01: Um, but you know, cosmic rewind, hands down, one of the best rides Disney has ever created, I think.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: Um smooth, it's this it spins, the music just makes it unforgettable.
- 23:05SPEAKER_01: And every ride feels a little bit different, depending on the song, of course, because that really does affect how it works.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: And it's one of those attractions that does off, and you immediately want to get back in line.
- 23:16SPEAKER_01: And I will say there are not many things that I would wait for, but that I would.
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: Um that show everything about it is just perfection.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: And well, and sorry, I'm gonna run a spoke here because it's what I do.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: I must stay on brand, but I was just I was just reading today because they've announced the first Muppet song.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: Yes, and the first Muppet song, I love the fact that it's called Song Two.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: Yes, Blur.
- 23:47SPEAKER_01: The yeah, Blur, Song Two.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: I'm like Song.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: The first song you announce is Song Two.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: So funny to me.
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I was like Entertainment, peak entertainment.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: But yeah, so number two is a Guardians of the Galaxy, cosmic rewind.
- 24:02SPEAKER_01: Like, even though I know how that one effect works in the the pre-show, it's still cool, right?
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: Oh, so cool.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: All right, all right.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: Well, my my number one sort of goes back to something you touched on a little bit ago with living with the land, and that is that is the beautiful synergy of edutainment that that Epcot is.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: It's like there's so much there to just I you know, Disney was trying to give you that spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down because you know, we learned about as a kid, you know, I learned all about communication from spaceship earth, and you know, we're still learning about the land and the land pavilion, and it just is that and the countries, oh my gosh, it's like you learn so much about those countries through their food, um, through the cast members, but uh but just the fact that you can learn while having so much fun is is the reason uh edutainment is number one on my list.
- 25:07SPEAKER_01: Uh that's great.
- 25:08SPEAKER_01: Uh my number one is the flexibility um that Epcot provides with skyliner escapes and just walkability to other places.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: It's nothing that make makes EPSC Epscat um Epcot incredibly EPSCAT.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: Epscat.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: That's that's what they'd call it if I was in charge.
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: Uh thank God you're not.
- 25:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, thank God I'm not.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: But I really do think it's something that makes it underrated because how easy it is to to escape when it gets overwhelming, something we learned on Easter Sunday.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: You can hop on the Skyliner and take a relaxing ride to nearby resorts.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: You can well, because technically that is the though those are the only two resorts you can walk between.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, the only two theme parks you can literally walk between.
- 25:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, is Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but like you can walk over to the boardwalk or any of the other new and it's you're just not stuck as much in that park as you are somewhere.
- 26:07SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: And you know, we we discovered that you could just explore, take a break, or come back refreshed.
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: But also, Harper, there was a point where uh we left, we were closer to the Skyliner when we were leaving.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: So Harper goes, here's what we're gonna do.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: Let's just take the Skyliner to Hollywood.
- 26:26SPEAKER_01: We'll catch a bus from Hollywood.
- 26:28SPEAKER_01: I don't want to walk all the way back through this park to the buses.
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: And I said, That's so genius.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: You raised such a smart girl.
- 26:37SPEAKER_01: I really did, and it honestly, I was like, damn, you're smart because it was it worked.
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: Now be be careful about taking that bougie princess to uh beach club because we know what happened to our other bougie princess, Kimberly, when she went there.
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's on Harper's List, believe me.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: Um, because the man that's gonna be a hard one to get her.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: She don't want to go to the all-stars now.
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: She may not even want to go to Coronada once she's been to Beach Club.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: We're we're looking at Port Orleans the summer or Saratoga.
- 27:11SPEAKER_01: So we'll see how she decides.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: But yeah, she she's been over there and she's checked out that pool and thought I need to stay here.
- 27:20SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Well, when I make you can do that.
- 27:25SPEAKER_01: The best park on Disney.
- 27:26SPEAKER_01: I mean, the best pool on Disney property just from Epcot.
- 27:30SPEAKER_01: It's a cool one.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: Um, but that is my number one, is just you know the flexibility that Epcot has.
- 27:35SPEAKER_01: I think Epcot is a misunderstood park until you get a little older because it was never it I enjoyed it.
- 27:42SPEAKER_01: I always enjoyed it.
- 27:43SPEAKER_01: But as the years go by, I find myself enjoying it.
- 27:47SPEAKER_00: You appreciate it more as an adult.
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: And once you can drink.
- 27:51SPEAKER_00: Yes, sure.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: Turning 21 dials up the enjoyment of the Epcot experience, you know.
- 28:01SPEAKER_01: But Epcot, you know, it you mentioned it too, the unique shopping.
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: I mean, the some of the attractions are next level, but Cosmic Rewind and Frozen.
- 28:09SPEAKER_01: Um but they have some relaxing classics.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: But the the the my the vibes are just unmatched, and I think between that and the flexibility that it offers, it really does make your day better.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: It's a park that really grows on you, and that's something that I have discovered about myself.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: And uh, you know, I I don't know.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: It's a it's a love that's growing.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: They they probably turned that tagline down since it sounds a little more like a fungus.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: The park that grows on you.
- 28:39SPEAKER_01: But come for the you know, come for your fjording.
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: Um come for fjording, stay for the poutinery.
- 28:49SPEAKER_01: Stay for the poutinery, uh come for the poutinery and stay for the fjording.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: Stay for the fjording.
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: Um just depends.
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: I I would probably recommend to my clients fjording, then poutinery.
- 29:02SPEAKER_00: Yes, probably uh you don't want to fjord on a full stomach, really.
- 29:06SPEAKER_00: No, heavy fries and gravy.
- 29:08SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, no.
- 29:09SPEAKER_01: No, not at all, not at all.
- 29:10SPEAKER_01: But you'll smell nice, and that's exciting.
- 29:12SPEAKER_01: Um, but uh I I would love to know what you know some of you out there think about Epcot, and you know, what are the things that you love?
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: What are the things that you were screaming at your your uh device while you were listening that we said that was incorrect in your brain, or things that you were like, oh yes, finally he talked about the number of the things we left out that you love.
- 29:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and that's the thing, there's so much to love.
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: So uh again, this the the this episode was back in August of 2022 where we first talked about this.
- 29:43SPEAKER_00: And I have not go back and listen to our younger selves.
- 29:46SPEAKER_01: I know I will too just hear what we talked about then.
- 29:49SPEAKER_01: Um but uh Mr.
- 29:50SPEAKER_01: McCall, if they're looking to take a vacation, there's a lot of deals going on right now, especially for the summer.
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: That there are that cool kid summer is going on with with deals for various and asundry peoples.
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: Um, so you know, and it's not too late to get those summer plans in place.
