- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Hello, Big Blue Nation, Welcome to Just the Cats.
- 0:16Speaker 3: My name is Michael Bennan on this Wednesday. You should
- 0:21Speaker 3: really replace that today with tax Day, because that's what
- 0:24Speaker 3: everybody's saying about his day. Wait to start a ridiculous show.
- 0:33Speaker 3: But anyway, if you want to call it and give
- 0:35Speaker 3: me your taxos, you can do it at FABO two
- 0:37Speaker 3: three eight four fourteen fifty. If you want to text
- 0:39Speaker 3: it and give me your taxos, you can do that
- 0:41Speaker 3: at FABO two four one four fourteen fifteen. Tweet me
- 0:44Speaker 3: at Just the Cat Radio. As you can tell, Justin
- 0:47Speaker 3: Klin has a mic now that I can hear. I
- 0:50Speaker 3: think everybody could hear you before they for some reason,
- 0:55Speaker 3: I couldn't hear you when we were trying to do
- 0:56Speaker 3: cross talk.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Yeah, it was telling me that my mike was not
- 1:01Speaker 4: plugged in. But when we go Google Meet, I don't
- 1:05Speaker 4: have a mic that gets plugged in. I all my
- 1:08Speaker 4: audio literally comes through the computer. So that was not
- 1:12Speaker 4: making sense to me. But I did not. I avoided disaster.
- 1:16Speaker 4: I did not have to restart the whole computer. Oh,
- 1:18Speaker 4: I just restarted the browser I was on. And now
- 1:22Speaker 4: it's good as new.
- 1:23Speaker 3: So you're you're the smartest guy. That's why you're the
- 1:26Speaker 3: best producer in the business. I tell you what, I
- 1:29Speaker 3: just know.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Well, I know you're being facetious, but it's actually true.
- 1:38Speaker 4: At least in the city.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Yes, oh, at least in the the zip code that
- 1:44Speaker 3: you're sitting in right now, so on Taylorsville Road. So
- 1:48Speaker 3: but yeah, yeah, let's just bring it down. Let's in
- 1:51Speaker 3: that room right now. But yes, it is tax day,
- 1:56Speaker 3: April fifteenth. I hope everybody's got there taxes in order.
- 2:01Speaker 3: To me, this is probably the worst day of the year,
- 2:04Speaker 3: isn't it. Would you agree with that that that April
- 2:07Speaker 3: fifteenth tax day is probably considered the worst day that
- 2:12Speaker 3: people probably dread the most. Maybe I can't think of
- 2:19Speaker 3: another day in the year that people.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Just can't sell dam Here's the thing.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Now, there's temporary days that people can't stand, but I
- 2:26Speaker 3: think this is the day people dread the most more
- 2:29Speaker 3: than any other day in the year.
- 2:31Speaker 4: I guess it really just depends on how proactive you are,
- 2:34Speaker 4: because so April fifteenth has never really meant anything for
- 2:38Speaker 4: me because I always have my taxes done well in
- 2:40Speaker 4: advance of April fifteen. So if as long as you're
- 2:44Speaker 4: not a slacker, this day shouldn't scare you at all.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Well, I think it does.
- 2:50Speaker 3: I think it creates more anxiety for more people because
- 2:54Speaker 3: you know, it's a day that you get to pay
- 2:56Speaker 3: a big A lot of people that have pay a
- 2:58Speaker 3: big bill. Some people look forward to it because, uh,
- 3:01Speaker 3: it might be a refund. But I mean again, all right,
- 3:06Speaker 3: maybe it's not a day they dislike the most. Maybe
- 3:09Speaker 3: it's the day that creates the most anxiety. Well, I
- 3:12Speaker 3: don't know what date creates the most anxiety, because I
- 3:18Speaker 3: bet you a lot of people would say Christmas creates
- 3:21Speaker 3: a lot of anxiety for people, but they don't. They
- 3:23Speaker 3: don't dislike Christmas.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Well, people put that anxiety on themselves at Christmas. Like
- 3:30Speaker 4: absolutely correct.
- 3:33Speaker 3: But there's no need for tax Day either to be
- 3:36Speaker 3: anxiety driven. But it's just it's money driven, and I
- 3:39Speaker 3: think money drives the most of everyone's anxiety more than
- 3:44Speaker 3: anything else.
- 3:45Speaker 4: I think you could have stopped that sentence about halfway through.
- 3:48Speaker 4: There's no need for tax Day. Why what are we
- 3:50Speaker 4: doing here?
- 3:51Speaker 3: Oh?
- 3:51Speaker 4: I'm right there with you on everything every freaking day.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Why do I then, in turn have to pay taxes
- 3:57Speaker 4: at the end of the year.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Well, you know, the state of Flora, they are trying
- 4:01Speaker 3: to get rid of property tax for people that are
- 4:07Speaker 3: residents of little of Florida.
- 4:10Speaker 2: They're saying, you don't have to pay.
- 4:11Speaker 3: You know, we we do so well down in Florida
- 4:14Speaker 3: that we we just don't feel like that residence. Now,
- 4:16Speaker 3: people that own property but don't use Florida as their
- 4:21Speaker 3: place of residency, they'll still have to pay their property tax.
- 4:24Speaker 3: But everybody else that lives in Florida and that is
- 4:28Speaker 3: their home base, they won't have to pay property tax.
- 4:31Speaker 3: I think that's a great idea.
- 4:33Speaker 4: What I love that. What does that typically equate to
- 4:37Speaker 4: in a year, like a on average?
- 4:40Speaker 3: Oh my goodness, Well, depending on the property that you
- 4:44Speaker 3: that you own and what they estimate the value of
- 4:47Speaker 3: it is, it's ten Is that right of your house
- 4:51Speaker 3: value or your house value? Yeah, no, it's not that much.
- 4:58Speaker 3: I think it's a round four or five percent. It's
- 5:04Speaker 3: it's a healthy number to where you would you would look,
- 5:08Speaker 3: I'd love to have that money back.
- 5:10Speaker 4: I mean, if you've got a two hundred thousand dollars house,
- 5:12Speaker 4: just only the house that's that's ten thousand right there.
- 5:16Speaker 3: It can't be that much. Yeah, it's not that much.
- 5:18Speaker 3: It's it's gotta be two or three percent. I'm well,
- 5:23Speaker 3: you know we're talking thousands, You're talking thousands of dollars. Yes,
- 5:27Speaker 3: So I would love that. I mean, if we did
- 5:31Speaker 3: away in Kentucky with property tax up there, now, I
- 5:33Speaker 3: don't think Kentucky could ever afforded. Although Kentucky has done
- 5:37Speaker 3: a nice job the government has of bringing down sales tax,
- 5:42Speaker 3: so I do like that the last a few years
- 5:45Speaker 3: that they've been doing that, that's been really nice.
- 5:48Speaker 4: But I'm with you.
- 5:49Speaker 3: I think I think it comes to a point where
- 5:51Speaker 3: we're just tax so much. You know, it costs us
- 5:54Speaker 3: money to live in Louisville. If you live outside of
- 5:57Speaker 3: Jefferson County, you save that money. If you live in
- 5:59Speaker 3: certain areas of Louisville, you've got to pay that property
- 6:02Speaker 3: tax or that tax for that little area of the
- 6:08Speaker 3: city that you live in. It's like, oh my gosh, man,
- 6:10Speaker 3: I'm taxed enough. I'm like you, it's to me, it's
- 6:13Speaker 3: it's it's I've never liked tax day. To me, in
- 6:17Speaker 3: my mind, it's the worst day of the year because
- 6:18Speaker 3: I'm always paying tax.
- 6:20Speaker 4: Yeah, but you're not waiting till the last day, are you.
- 6:23Speaker 3: No, I'm not waiting till the last day, but I
- 6:25Speaker 3: still dread April fifteenth, just because you know, here here
- 6:28Speaker 3: comes the check.
- 6:29Speaker 2: I got to write the checkout today.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Yeah, so I do hold out on that, and then
- 6:33Speaker 3: I write the whatever check I owe today, and then
- 6:36Speaker 3: it's like, okay, please stop.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Yeah, because I've always you know, I've always owned my
- 6:41Speaker 3: own businesses, so I've always had to write checks on
- 6:45Speaker 3: this day. So yeah, no, no, no, it's even though
- 6:47Speaker 3: my taxes have been prepared for the last two or
- 6:49Speaker 3: three weeks, I still have to write the check today.
- 6:52Speaker 3: So I'm not happy about that. I get yeah, and
- 6:56Speaker 3: you're not. You're getting a refund, I'm sure. Oh god,
- 6:58Speaker 3: what's good for you? I have not gotten a refund
- 7:02Speaker 3: in oh really, never mind six years. So when did
- 7:06Speaker 3: you get your taxes done? About midway through February? Oh
- 7:10Speaker 3: did you really?
- 7:11Speaker 4: I get a lot of So I get a lot.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Of ten ninety nine, which, yes, I used to be
- 7:16Speaker 3: thousand times worse.
- 7:17Speaker 4: I used to do my own taxes. But then you
- 7:19Speaker 4: start throwing ten ninety nine into the equation. I can't
- 7:23Speaker 4: do it.
- 7:23Speaker 3: So the people that are able to do their own
- 7:26Speaker 3: taxes amaze me because I have zero confidence. Yeah, I'm
- 7:29Speaker 3: like you because I've always been what's considered the independent contractor,
- 7:34Speaker 3: which that's what you know, you are considered with all
- 7:36Speaker 3: the ten ninety nine even though you're an employee of
- 7:38Speaker 3: Big X, but you do get all those ten ninety nines,
- 7:42Speaker 3: and that just that makes it so much different. Sure,
- 7:45Speaker 3: so you know, I always had to keep all my
- 7:47Speaker 3: receipts and keep them organized, like, oh my goodness, I
- 7:50Speaker 3: can't do this. So yeah, I would just rather hire
- 7:53Speaker 3: somebody pay them to do it in that way. That
- 7:55Speaker 3: saves me all that grief. But yeah, what are you
- 7:57Speaker 3: looking up? By the way, I was just post my
- 8:00Speaker 3: show on Twitter? Oh okay, well, I'm glad you're posting
- 8:02Speaker 3: your show, so I know, but you're not looking at me.
- 8:09Speaker 3: So I'm like, what are you doing? Are you looking up?
- 8:11Speaker 3: Are you doing your taxes right now?
- 8:12Speaker 4: But I did not tax Day?
- 8:16Speaker 3: Oh yeah, so you please don't tell me that I would.
- 8:18Speaker 3: That would make me panic. But uh, all right, you know,
- 8:21Speaker 3: today's Wednesday, as you as you know, clarified that a
- 8:26Speaker 3: little earlier, as did the intro in the show, but
- 8:29Speaker 3: we haven't heard anything from Tyrone Stokes or the players
- 8:36Speaker 3: that visited last Friday and Monday. How are you feeling
- 8:41Speaker 3: about getting a commitment Tyron Stokes, Rob Wright or any
- 8:45Speaker 3: of the players Zoom diallo, how are you feeling about this?
- 8:49Speaker 3: I mean, to me, I'm starting to get even I
- 8:52Speaker 3: was nervous yesterday. I'm getting to a point where I'm
- 8:55Speaker 3: getting nervous, even more so that we're now too two
- 9:00Speaker 3: days away, forty eight hours since they were here. It
- 9:03Speaker 3: looked really good on Monday, especially since Tyron Stokes was
- 9:07Speaker 3: on Instagram live shooting shots at Rapperina, and now we
- 9:12Speaker 3: still hear nothing.
- 9:14Speaker 4: I mean, it's we're almost to the point where and
- 9:17Speaker 4: I know you've had announcements of guys coming back, and
- 9:21Speaker 4: you know a few of the pieces that you'll have
- 9:23Speaker 4: on next year's team. But the exciting thing about the
- 9:27Speaker 4: transfer portal is getting these commitments and hearing names say hey,
- 9:33Speaker 4: I'm coming to Kentucky. You haven't heard that yet. So
- 9:37Speaker 4: I'm not to the point where I'm freaking out and
- 9:40Speaker 4: I think this is a bad thing quite yet, but
- 9:43Speaker 4: it almost feels like the fan base just needs some
- 9:47Speaker 4: good news. So if anybody out there, whether it's Zoom,
- 9:51Speaker 4: whether it's Rob Wright, whether it's Tyrant. I don't think
- 9:53Speaker 4: it's gonna be Tyrant because he's gonna take his sweet time.
- 9:56Speaker 4: But if somebody, just anybody wants to commit for a
- 10:01Speaker 4: feel good type situation for BBN, that would be I'm
- 10:05Speaker 4: sure much appreciated.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Oh exactly, I mean anything, And I think we're putting
- 10:12Speaker 3: a lot of our hopes on Tyron Stokes, which I
- 10:15Speaker 3: think is a little it's too much.
- 10:17Speaker 4: I've got a said on my show this morning, I
- 10:19Speaker 4: got a really icky feeling about Tyron Stokes.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Do you really meaning he won't commit to Kentucky or
- 10:25Speaker 3: meaning he won't turn out?
- 10:26Speaker 4: I don't really. I don't think he'll come to Kentucky.
- 10:30Speaker 4: But I've been wrong Kansas. I've been wrong plenty, So
- 10:32Speaker 4: don't be surprised if that's the situation a kid, because he's.
- 10:36Speaker 3: You know, there's been the little messages that I don't
- 10:40Speaker 3: like Adidas, I don't like their shoes, I don't like this,
- 10:42Speaker 3: I don't like that, which kind of ties in more
- 10:44Speaker 3: for well, that seems like a positive mood for UK.
- 10:47Speaker 3: You've got a number of people, including Jeff Goodman, which
- 10:50Speaker 3: I don't throw any weight into anything that guy says that,
- 10:54Speaker 3: you know, things are trending in the right way for
- 10:57Speaker 3: Rob Wright but not trending in the right way for
- 10:59Speaker 3: Tyrann Stokes. Okay, where are you getting your information from?
- 11:02Speaker 3: And I would guarantee you ten times out of ten he's.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Just guessing himself.
- 11:07Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Maybe I should pick on he's pretty well connected, he's
- 11:12Speaker 3: somewhat connected. I would never say he is pretty well connected,
- 11:17Speaker 3: and I know that for a fact from talking to
- 11:19Speaker 3: other media members. So no, I would never say Jeff
- 11:24Speaker 3: Goodman is pretty well connected. I'd say he's okay connected,
- 11:28Speaker 3: and that would.
- 11:28Speaker 4: Be it better connected than us.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Well, I would I would not have disagreed with that.
- 11:34Speaker 4: So uh.
- 11:34Speaker 3: But but but I think with UK he's not that
- 11:38Speaker 3: well connected. I think with UH, there are certain schools
- 11:41Speaker 3: out there he's connected pretty well with, but u K.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Maybe with CAL he was somewhat but anymore, No, I
- 11:47Speaker 3: don't think he is at all.
- 11:48Speaker 4: In today's day, an agent doesn't have to be a school, right.
- 11:51Speaker 4: It can be agents, it can be parents, can be
- 11:54Speaker 4: all right, old coaches, yeah, oh yeah, I listen. I
- 11:58Speaker 4: would say, you Larry votsmore can than Jeff Goodman at UK.
- 12:03Speaker 4: Uh he's a local guy.
- 12:05Speaker 3: He should be, well he should be and uh, but
- 12:07Speaker 3: but I think Larry Vott he's all about getting to
- 12:10Speaker 3: know the parents, and you know he's been famous for that.
- 12:14Speaker 3: And of course you know he's a Jasper Johnson. He's
- 12:17Speaker 3: been very close with uh that situation, and of course
- 12:21Speaker 3: he predicted that well, he knew that Jasper was interviewing
- 12:25Speaker 3: with John cal Perry and Kenny Payne yesterday in Lexington,
- 12:30Speaker 3: in Lexington, in so cal As. We talked about it yesterday.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Cal flew to Lexington to meet and Kenny Payne flew
- 12:40Speaker 3: to Lexington to meet with Jasper Johnson. We talked about
- 12:45Speaker 3: it briefly yesterday.
- 12:46Speaker 4: I don't recall that at all.
- 12:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't say Cal's name, but I certainly said
- 12:50Speaker 3: Hoggs might be in Lexington today.
- 12:52Speaker 4: I don't. I just don't guess I picked up while
- 12:55Speaker 4: you're putting down there.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Wow, okay, Yeah, So Cal callan Kenny flew up the
- 13:00Speaker 3: Lexington to meet with Jasper Johnson flying God's Green Earth.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Would you bring Kenny because that's his assistant coach? Why
- 13:08Speaker 3: wouldn't you?
- 13:10Speaker 4: I just don't know how much that would sell.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Well, you're probably right from that standpoint. But Kenny's a
- 13:16Speaker 3: good guy. He's not a very good head coach, but
- 13:19Speaker 3: he's a good guy and he knows he knows how
- 13:21Speaker 3: to coach individually.
- 13:23Speaker 2: He just doesn't how to coach.
- 13:26Speaker 4: I did see a player going to Arkansas. Who was that?
- 13:30Speaker 4: Do you recall seeing a name?
- 13:32Speaker 3: Was it the Yukon player? Don't, Yeah, there is a player.
- 13:38Speaker 3: There is a player going to Arkansas. It was a
- 13:40Speaker 3: pretty good name too, a guard, and I can't write
- 13:43Speaker 3: off hand. I can't remember who it was. But there's
- 13:46Speaker 3: been a couple of players that Cal has gone after
- 13:48Speaker 3: in the transfer porto, which has been a bit of
- 13:52Speaker 3: surprise because you know, he's all about the freshman, the
- 13:55Speaker 3: high schoolers coming in as freshman. But he's he's doing
- 13:58Speaker 3: a pretty good job in the portal. Oh, they're getting
- 14:01Speaker 3: Wilkinson from Georgia. That's who it is, Yes, the guard,
- 14:05Speaker 3: Jeremiah Wilkinson. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It was a pretty
- 14:09Speaker 3: good player, yes, yeah, yeah, pretty good dunker as well.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, what are you laughing about?
- 14:18Speaker 5: He was?
- 14:19Speaker 4: I know I was being facetious.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Oh okay, well I got you now, but yeah, I'm
- 14:27Speaker 3: that's a good get for them, So good for them.
- 14:30Speaker 3: I'm happy for him. So anyway, we got to take
- 14:33Speaker 3: a break today. I want to talk about a few things.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Number One, there's talking about how much the nil market
- 14:41Speaker 3: has increased over last year, Jaden Quainton's makes a decision.
- 14:47Speaker 3: And also this whole lear Field thing. I'm telling you
- 14:53Speaker 3: there's going to be a whole domino effect on this
- 14:56Speaker 3: situation because you're going to see all kinds of private
- 15:01Speaker 3: equity companies that have been trying to get into college
- 15:04Speaker 3: sports really get into it now. Plus there's big news
- 15:09Speaker 3: right here in our town today at Churchill Downs. They're
- 15:12Speaker 3: gonna make a big announcement a little later on this morning.
- 15:15Speaker 3: What could it possibly be. Let's talk about that too.
- 15:18Speaker 3: So there's your little bit of cross talk. I'm sorry
- 15:20Speaker 3: we didn't get any today. Same Yeah, are you really
- 15:23Speaker 3: bank technology? Sometimes you just can't control it.
- 15:26Speaker 2: It's okay, I'm okay with the technology.
- 15:30Speaker 6: Uh.
- 15:30Speaker 3: There is a a an anniversary yesterday speaking to technology.
- 15:35Speaker 3: I think it's uh, it's it was a big anniversary.
- 15:39Speaker 3: We'll talk about that as soon as we get back.
- 15:41Speaker 3: But man, did it change technology forever?
- 15:46Speaker 4: Yes?
- 15:46Speaker 2: It did. We'll talk about that as soon as we
- 15:48Speaker 2: get back.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Fable two three and four fourteen fifty wan to call
- 15:51Speaker 3: Fabo two four to one four fourteen fifty. You want
- 15:53Speaker 3: a text in on the whiskey tied text line, or
- 15:55Speaker 3: you can tweet me at just the Cat Radio.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Stay right there. A lot more just the Cats coming
- 15:59Speaker 2: up right after that.
- 16:24Speaker 7: I heard you Want More in fifteen Ain't Awake.
- 16:29Speaker 4: And tuning in on you.
- 16:31Speaker 3: If I was young, it didn't stuff you coming through.
- 16:39Speaker 8: I took a credit for.
- 16:42Speaker 4: Every time I hear that song.
- 16:43Speaker 3: I think of the MTV because this was the first
- 16:46Speaker 3: song they ever played on MTV. What's the name of
- 16:48Speaker 3: this band, the Bugles, Bugles, the Bugles, that's it?
- 16:53Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, terrible song.
- 16:55Speaker 4: They ever have any other hits?
- 16:57Speaker 3: I don't think so. I think that was pretty much it.
- 16:59Speaker 3: I mean the you know, we could go on the
- 17:01Speaker 3: whole bit of the greatest one hit Wonders, but I
- 17:03Speaker 3: don't want to. Uh, but yeah, this was just why
- 17:08Speaker 3: would they play a song like this as the very
- 17:11Speaker 3: first song? Something so archaic and random though it doesn't
- 17:17Speaker 3: it make sense. I guess video killed the radio Star.
- 17:22Speaker 3: So that's the first music video they're gonna play on
- 17:24Speaker 3: empty Yeah? Is that the only reason? Okay, all right,
- 17:28Speaker 3: then the video is gonna kill the radio. Yeah, but
- 17:32Speaker 3: it didn't happen. Though radio killed the video song made stronger. Well,
- 17:37Speaker 3: I yes, And the only part that's surprising to me.
- 17:41Speaker 3: I really thought satellite radio would be a thing, and
- 17:45Speaker 3: it really hasn't turned out to be really that big
- 17:47Speaker 3: of a thing, has it? And that surprises me? Yea, yeah,
- 17:53Speaker 3: if I'm taking a long trip.
- 17:55Speaker 4: That's serious, right, serious? Exim Yeah, I mean I have
- 17:59Speaker 4: a couple of fan members that that's all they listen to.
- 18:02Speaker 3: Well, I used to have it in my car, but
- 18:04Speaker 3: then I just like, I'm not paying for this. I
- 18:06Speaker 3: can just look, you know, the things I want to
- 18:08Speaker 3: listen to. I can get on my phone and just
- 18:10Speaker 3: have it go through my phone onto the car radio.
- 18:14Speaker 4: So why do I need satellite radio? Good?
- 18:17Speaker 3: I mean, I I am probably more addicted to iTunes
- 18:20Speaker 3: than I am anything else. iTunes really, Yeah, why do
- 18:24Speaker 3: you what do you nine? Why is that nineteen ninety?
- 18:28Speaker 3: That's great tongue, by the way, But why.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Is I feel like an iTunes of soul? I use
- 18:34Speaker 4: Apple Music?
- 18:36Speaker 2: Well, that's the same thing, isn't it.
- 18:38Speaker 4: No one's called Apple music, one's called iTunes.
- 18:42Speaker 3: What's the difference? Whatever I pay for is what I get.
- 18:46Speaker 3: It's from Apple, So okay, whatever, Okay, I probably do.
- 18:51Speaker 5: Uh.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Let's talk a little bit about basketball. Jaden Quaint's declared
- 18:54Speaker 3: for the NBA Draft. I don't think any of us
- 18:57Speaker 3: were surprised by that, But here's what I'm surprised about,
- 19:00Speaker 3: justin some teams continue to see JQ as a lottery pick,
- 19:06Speaker 3: which made the decision for him a lot easier, But honestly,
- 19:11Speaker 3: after the knee injury, after him only playing sixty six
- 19:16Speaker 3: total minutes for the University of Kentucky and pocket pocketing
- 19:20Speaker 3: over a couple of million dollars, I'm surprised here. Teams
- 19:23Speaker 3: out there are willing to put their money where their
- 19:25Speaker 3: mouth is on a young man like this that is
- 19:28Speaker 3: now struggled another year with injury.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Aren't you that he is a lottery pick?
- 19:34Speaker 4: I don't see JQ as a lottery pick, mostly because
- 19:38Speaker 4: we didn't see him on the floor this year. So right,
- 19:41Speaker 4: we certainly know what JQ is possibly or what he
- 19:45Speaker 4: could possibly be, but we don't know definitively what he's
- 19:49Speaker 4: going to be in the NBA, and I kinda so
- 19:51Speaker 4: I go back and forth on this thing. From a
- 19:53Speaker 4: JQ perspective. When I first hear this news, I think, well,
- 19:57Speaker 4: that feels like a mistake, right because he we don't
- 20:00Speaker 4: have any tape out there, and you could come back
- 20:03Speaker 4: to college basketball next year, make a boatload of money
- 20:05Speaker 4: again and hopefully stay healthy and get yourself even higher
- 20:10Speaker 4: up into the lottery. But at the same time, do
- 20:13Speaker 4: you want to risk potentially further injuring that knee or
- 20:19Speaker 4: something else by some chance. So I don't know if
- 20:22Speaker 4: you're if you're given a first round guarantee, regardless of
- 20:26Speaker 4: where that is, I don't think he's gonna fall on
- 20:28Speaker 4: the lottery. But yeah, I mean, just go get your
- 20:30Speaker 4: money and try to make it work. Just put your
- 20:33Speaker 4: head down, work hard, and next thing you know, you'll
- 20:35Speaker 4: be one of the best players in the NBA. If
- 20:36Speaker 4: you follow that.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Well, somebody's telling him something, because it's got to be
- 20:41Speaker 3: a scout. That's got to be a scout telling the
- 20:42Speaker 3: agent telling him that, listen, we're going to probably pick
- 20:45Speaker 3: him up as a first rounder. And I'm like you,
- 20:49Speaker 3: I just I wouldn't risk it as far as a
- 20:52Speaker 3: lottery pick. But somebody's telling him something and I guess
- 20:56Speaker 3: they're willing to risk that and if he does, then
- 20:59Speaker 3: that does that make you feel that well, he wasn't
- 21:03Speaker 3: really injured and therefore he didn't want to play at UK?
- 21:06Speaker 4: I really don't think that's the case. I know the
- 21:09Speaker 4: timeline with JQ and how all that shook out was
- 21:12Speaker 4: really weird to us watching from the outside looking in.
- 21:15Speaker 4: But yeah, I don't know. He doesn't strike me as
- 21:18Speaker 4: a kid that just was sitting because he didn't want
- 21:21Speaker 4: to further injure it. Yeah.
- 21:23Speaker 3: I hope that's not the case, because I think that does.
- 21:26Speaker 3: I believe strongly that does. That does happen in college basketball? Yeah,
- 21:30Speaker 3: and they just listen, it's all about getting the NBA.
- 21:34Speaker 2: It's not about playing for the school.
- 21:35Speaker 3: So what do you think about that crazy ending last
- 21:38Speaker 3: night between the Hornets and the Heat?
- 21:41Speaker 4: Wish I could have watched it.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Why couldn't you watch it?
- 21:44Speaker 4: Was it the Reds game? Oh?
- 21:45Speaker 3: That's right, I forgot Before we talk about this, I
- 21:50Speaker 3: want to hear everything about the Reds game.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Did you what time did you get home?
- 21:54Speaker 4: And what was it?
- 21:55Speaker 3: I don't even know what happened to the game last
- 21:57Speaker 3: night because I was watching this heat Hornets game, so.
- 22:00Speaker 4: It was actually awesome. The game was two hours and
- 22:03Speaker 4: nineteen minutes, was it really was. There were three runs total,
- 22:10Speaker 4: all three of them were solo homers, so wow, the
- 22:14Speaker 4: game went ridiculously fast. We only had one challenge, which
- 22:18Speaker 4: that was kind of a bummer. I was hoping to
- 22:20Speaker 4: see multiple challenges because it is cool when they put
- 22:23Speaker 4: it up on the big screen and everybody can see
- 22:25Speaker 4: what's happening. Yeah, so the one we got was really
- 22:27Speaker 4: cool because it went in the Reds favor and everybody
- 22:30Speaker 4: was cheering and going bananas. But now we had a
- 22:33Speaker 4: great time. We were about ten rows up behind home
- 22:36Speaker 4: plate or between the Giants and home plate, so one
- 22:39Speaker 4: of the best seats I've ever had at a baseball game.
- 22:41Speaker 4: And then yeah, Reds went on top of that two
- 22:44Speaker 4: to one. So everybody left the stadium feeling pretty happy
- 22:47Speaker 4: last night. And we got home. I got in my
- 22:50Speaker 4: door at about eleven thirty, so a little bit earlier
- 22:53Speaker 4: than I was anticipating, to be honest with me.
- 22:55Speaker 3: That's good for you, So that's why you got a
- 22:56Speaker 3: good night sleep. I'm so glad to do that. That's debatable, Well,
- 23:01Speaker 3: going back to this Heats game, I don't know if
- 23:04Speaker 3: you saw it or not, that there was a controversial
- 23:06Speaker 3: play which has happened now twice this season with the
- 23:10Speaker 3: same two players, where Carmelo LaMelo ball tripped the first
- 23:18Speaker 3: time Bam had to Bio and then last night he
- 23:22Speaker 3: took his foot from underneath Bam again and Bam falls
- 23:26Speaker 3: down on the grown onto the floor on his tailbone
- 23:31Speaker 3: and didn't play the rest of the night.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Now some people are saying, oh, he's soft, dude. If
- 23:36Speaker 2: you watch that fall.
- 23:37Speaker 3: He fell on his tailbone, and I'm hoping that he
- 23:42Speaker 3: didn't fracture his coccix or anything like that, because that
- 23:45Speaker 3: was a hard fall. And I want to know from you,
- 23:50Speaker 3: why do you think the officials didn't go back and
- 23:52Speaker 3: review this and give a ball a flagrant because it
- 23:56Speaker 3: was absolutely deserved. And that's the second time this has happened.
- 24:00Speaker 3: And I'll tell you right now, this is the reason
- 24:04Speaker 3: that the Heat loss last night, and that's how the
- 24:06Speaker 3: Hornets won.
- 24:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree with that one thousand percent. I remember
- 24:10Speaker 4: we were we were leaving the park and one of them,
- 24:13Speaker 4: I think it was Tony, had it pulled up on
- 24:15Speaker 4: his phone. He was like he was going through the
- 24:16Speaker 4: stats and he's like, BAM's only played eight minutes, and
- 24:19Speaker 4: we're like, wait, what why is Bam only played eight minutes?
- 24:22Speaker 4: So he must have got hurt. And then I start
- 24:24Speaker 4: seeing the tripping thing this morning, and it's just like, yeah,
- 24:29Speaker 4: they probably should have went back and given him a
- 24:31Speaker 4: technical foul. I can't answer as to why they didn't,
- 24:35Speaker 4: but my mindset is just what are we doing? Stop
- 24:38Speaker 4: tripping people? Why are we playing dirty brands of basketball?
- 24:43Speaker 4: I mean, we've seen it how many times over the years,
- 24:45Speaker 4: whether it was Grayson Allen now LaMelo Balls coming up
- 24:48Speaker 4: with a reputation for this sort of thing. Just go
- 24:51Speaker 4: out there and play the game, stop trying to play
- 24:54Speaker 4: it dirty. Yeah, was absolutely yeah, And that was intentional.
- 25:00Speaker 4: He said, yeah, I should have gone over there and
- 25:01Speaker 4: apologize him. Well, no, you should have not done it
- 25:04Speaker 4: in the first place, is what the way I look
- 25:06Speaker 4: at it.
- 25:07Speaker 3: And it was a dirty play, intended for that to happen,
- 25:11Speaker 3: hoping that would happen, and of course look what happened.
- 25:14Speaker 3: The Heat lose the game, and you can look specifically
- 25:18Speaker 3: at that play since they took out their best player.
- 25:22Speaker 3: The Hornets took out their best, the Heat's best player.
- 25:25Speaker 3: They won the game. They won an crazy overtime bit
- 25:28Speaker 3: where the Hornets go down make a layup and the
- 25:31Speaker 3: Heat try to come back to the other end and
- 25:33Speaker 3: they blocked the shot and the game's over. I mean,
- 25:35Speaker 3: it was just a crazy what was that like seven
- 25:38Speaker 3: or eight seconds and it was fun to watch, but
- 25:42Speaker 3: it frustrated me because I looked at that game. It's
- 25:45Speaker 3: like the Hornets should have never been in that game.
- 25:49Speaker 3: They just they should have lost at least by seven
- 25:52Speaker 3: or eight points. If it was a naturally played game
- 25:56Speaker 3: with bam Adebayo in the game, you know, he would
- 25:58Speaker 3: have made a lot more points and he would have
- 26:01Speaker 3: had them on top of this game and not been
- 26:04Speaker 3: eliminated in the playoffs last night. So I kind of
- 26:06Speaker 3: felt bad. I'm not gonna say I'm a Heat fan,
- 26:10Speaker 3: even though there are two former UK players on that team,
- 26:14Speaker 3: but I still feel like they should have won without
- 26:17Speaker 3: any question.
- 26:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I'm right there with you had taken
- 26:21Speaker 4: bam out of the I mean, look, the dude scored
- 26:23Speaker 4: eighty three points earlier this year. I don't care how
- 26:26Speaker 4: it happened for him to score that eighty three points,
- 26:29Speaker 4: but I mean that shows you right there how good
- 26:31Speaker 4: of a player he is and how much the heat
- 26:33Speaker 4: rely on him on a night in, night out basis.
- 26:35Speaker 4: But just unfortunate that all that happened, they get eliminated.
- 26:40Speaker 4: So his season's done. So if he did suffer any
- 26:43Speaker 4: damage from that fall, and he's gonna be able to
- 26:45Speaker 4: get it worked on pretty quickly. But you know the
- 26:48Speaker 4: greatest thing about this is the fact that it's twenty
- 26:51Speaker 4: twenty six. If this happened in twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen,
- 26:57Speaker 4: we would have to hear from Daddy Ball on ESPN,
- 27:02Speaker 4: and I'm glad we don't have to hear him talk
- 27:04Speaker 4: about this situation.
- 27:07Speaker 3: How would he have taken this situation? Would he have
- 27:09Speaker 3: blamed everybody else but his own son.
- 27:11Speaker 4: I'd have probably spewed some garbage like, well, if Bama's
- 27:14Speaker 4: wearing big ball or branch hues.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, don't even mention that. I mean,
- 27:20Speaker 3: we don't need to advertise that kind of stuff.
- 27:22Speaker 4: So hym it doesn't matter for advertising.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Well, that is true, I mean, that is true. They've
- 27:28Speaker 2: not done.
- 27:30Speaker 3: It's probably been seven or eight years before I've even
- 27:33Speaker 3: thought about those shoes.
- 27:37Speaker 2: I have no idea. I mean, oh, they are still
- 27:40Speaker 2: a thing.
- 27:41Speaker 4: Yep.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Yeah, you can probably buy him on Amazon or something
- 27:45Speaker 3: like that. Oh they do well, don't advertise it anymore.
- 27:49Speaker 3: I don't really care. A big announcement coming up a
- 27:53Speaker 3: little later on this morning.
- 27:54Speaker 2: They've talked about it.
- 27:56Speaker 3: It was in the paper yesterday where there is going
- 27:59Speaker 3: to be a big sporting announcement at Churchill Downs that
- 28:05Speaker 3: has nothing to do with horse racing. Now, there's also
- 28:09Speaker 3: been talk about Louisville is in the early planning stages
- 28:15Speaker 3: of building a new sports arena in the Butchertown neighborhood
- 28:22Speaker 3: and opening their predicting around twenty twenty eight around the
- 28:27Speaker 3: soccer stadium that will see six thousand people, and they're
- 28:33Speaker 3: estimating that the cost will be one point seven billion.
- 28:38Speaker 4: What's that for?
- 28:41Speaker 3: Nobody knows. And what the announcement happening in Churchill Downs.
- 28:44Speaker 3: Is it related to this new arena that they're building.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Nobody knows what it is. Nobody knows what it's for.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Some have predicted they're gonna build like a hockey arena
- 28:57Speaker 3: or something like that. It's it's clearly not for the
- 29:00Speaker 3: new football team. I'm thinking, well, could it be for
- 29:04Speaker 3: the Louisville What do they call the FC? Could it
- 29:08Speaker 3: be for them to move them to the smaller arena
- 29:10Speaker 3: since they don't draw that much, and then make the
- 29:11Speaker 3: football team play in the bigger arena since it's.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Drawing more people.
- 29:17Speaker 4: Louisville City sells all kinds of seats for their games.
- 29:20Speaker 4: You're you're crazy they do really? Yeah, I'm surprised. People
- 29:26Speaker 4: go they lead the league in attendance, do they? Yeah?
- 29:30Speaker 3: All kidd aside, I did not realize that they lead. Seriously,
- 29:34Speaker 3: they lead the league in attendance more years.
- 29:36Speaker 4: Than not that they've been in this league, they've led
- 29:38Speaker 4: in attendance.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Then if that's the case, why doesn't the profession, the
- 29:44Speaker 3: Major League allow them to move up into the Major League?
- 29:47Speaker 3: If if they're selling out that much and lead the
- 29:50Speaker 3: league in attendance, don't you think the bigger league, the
- 29:53Speaker 3: Major League would want them to join them.
- 29:55Speaker 4: Well, it's funny you bring that up, because last night
- 29:58Speaker 4: in the US Open Cup, Louisville City beat an MLS
- 30:02Speaker 4: team in Austin.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Austin, so and so I'm trying to figure
- 30:06Speaker 3: out why doesn't the bigger league let them play?
- 30:09Speaker 4: I just want I want relegation and delegation like you
- 30:13Speaker 4: get over in Europe. And if Matt was here, he
- 30:15Speaker 4: would agree wholeheartedly with me. When when Louisville City won
- 30:19Speaker 4: those what two three championships in a row, they should
- 30:22Speaker 4: have moved up to MLS and you take the worst
- 30:25Speaker 4: MLS team, you put them in the USL and then
- 30:28Speaker 4: you got to play your way back up if you
- 30:30Speaker 4: want to get back in. That's the way they do
- 30:32Speaker 4: it in Europe. It's stupid entertaining that way. I wish
- 30:36Speaker 4: we did it like that over here as well.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Yeah, because the only reason I know that it's because
- 30:40Speaker 3: I watched ted Lasso and that was the way they
- 30:43Speaker 3: were describing it in ted Lasso. Great show, by the way,
- 30:46Speaker 3: but I listen as much as its about soccer and
- 30:51Speaker 3: Louisville LEFC and all that kind of stuff.
- 30:53Speaker 2: I hope they do it.
- 30:55Speaker 3: This city deserves some kind of major league and if
- 31:00Speaker 3: they could get Louisville FC, believe me, Michael Bennett would
- 31:04Speaker 3: be one thousand percent in support of it. I would
- 31:07Speaker 3: talk about it. I would even consider going to the games.
- 31:11Speaker 4: Again.
- 31:11Speaker 3: WHOA, how do you like that one? But I do well,
- 31:15Speaker 3: louis Will needs something. I'm so sick and tired of
- 31:18Speaker 3: being a minor league city for everything, and I just
- 31:21Speaker 3: I don't want minor league anymore.
- 31:23Speaker 2: I mean, that was justin Kaitlin. That was not Michael Bennett.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Okay, this is just the Cats, and that is true,
- 31:35Speaker 3: But I did not say that. The EU boy said it,
- 31:37Speaker 3: not me. Okay, yeah, why are you so hateful against
- 31:41Speaker 3: Ubel today because we're on just the Cats?
- 31:44Speaker 2: Okay, all right, well sleepy in this? I'm not, Oh
- 31:47Speaker 2: you're sleepy.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Okay, well you don't act like you're sleepy, but listen,
- 31:52Speaker 3: I would be in full support of this. But what
- 31:55Speaker 3: do you think that they're going to do with a
- 31:57Speaker 3: six thousand seed arena right next to the soccer stadium.
- 32:02Speaker 4: I don't get it.
- 32:03Speaker 2: I don't get it either. And why the big mystery?
- 32:06Speaker 3: Okay, you're gonna have a big announcement, but just kind
- 32:09Speaker 3: of give us a hint what it's gonna be.
- 32:10Speaker 4: By the way, every time I go I'm on sixty
- 32:13Speaker 4: four and I go around that bend near Butcher Town, Yes,
- 32:17Speaker 4: can tell me why it smells like cat food?
- 32:19Speaker 3: Oh that yeah, definitely, because that's what it is. I mean,
- 32:23Speaker 3: isn't that the isn't that. Oh, that's the meathouse where
- 32:30Speaker 3: they they you know, they dispose of pigs and stuff. Yeah,
- 32:37Speaker 3: that's where it happens, right right around. But it's it's
- 32:40Speaker 3: called butcher down. No, I get that, but it doesn't
- 32:43Speaker 3: smell like animals. It's it literally smells like cat food
- 32:47Speaker 3: every day when.
- 32:47Speaker 2: I drive bother I know. Yeah, I'm right there is.
- 32:52Speaker 3: And there's a feed place right around there too, and
- 32:54Speaker 3: I think they make feed and that's why it smells,
- 32:57Speaker 3: isn't it, Purina, No, it might be like I forget
- 33:01Speaker 3: what the name of it is, but there's a pet
- 33:04Speaker 3: food manufacture right around that area, there is sense and
- 33:11Speaker 3: they make all kinds of feed. Now, whether it's a
- 33:14Speaker 3: nuts for cat, for dog or for horse, I don't
- 33:16Speaker 3: remember which one it is, but it is a pet
- 33:19Speaker 3: food manufacturer right there. I thought you knew, And of
- 33:22Speaker 3: course you got the the whole because I believe Butchertown
- 33:26Speaker 3: is named Butchertown because that's the where they would had
- 33:30Speaker 3: all the butchers there is that, right, yeah? Okay, and
- 33:34Speaker 3: then Fishers used to be just down the street from
- 33:37Speaker 3: there too, the bacon making people greatest jingle ever. Okay,
- 33:42Speaker 3: just want you to know I still to this day.
- 33:45Speaker 3: Remember Fishers the bacon making people making food fun for
- 33:50Speaker 3: your tummy. I mean, that is that is the greatest.
- 33:53Speaker 3: You can't tell me there is a better jingle in
- 33:55Speaker 3: the world. I'm sure I could come up with a couple. Well,
- 34:00Speaker 3: probably KitKat, give me a break, Give me a break,
- 34:05Speaker 3: break me off a piece of that. There was a
- 34:07Speaker 3: famous office episode that did that, and Andy could never
- 34:12Speaker 3: figure out what the ending was, break me off a
- 34:14Speaker 3: piece of.
- 34:15Speaker 4: That kit Cat bar.
- 34:16Speaker 3: And I would love to know if KitKat sales went
- 34:19Speaker 3: up increase because of that episode right there? Yeah, but
- 34:23Speaker 3: all right, is there another jingle you can think of?
- 34:26Speaker 3: There isn't right now because you didn't go to bed
- 34:28Speaker 3: till eleven thirty last night.
- 34:29Speaker 4: The only one that just keeps running through my mind
- 34:32Speaker 4: is a local company here jarbos man, that Jarbos. That
- 34:38Speaker 4: jar one gets me every time. Really, all the folks
- 34:42Speaker 4: at Jarbos night or day. Oh my goodness.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Now, see I would probably say local ones would be
- 34:50Speaker 3: uh probably bear Nos. I I bare Nos pizza jingle
- 34:54Speaker 3: gets in my head. Yes, yeah, exactly, see that gets
- 34:59Speaker 3: in your head. That would I think that's a great one.
- 35:02Speaker 3: I was talking to owners at Barns even sometimes it
- 35:05Speaker 3: gets into their head. They love their jingle, which they should. Yeah,
- 35:08Speaker 3: but anyway, we got to take another break. Five O
- 35:10Speaker 3: two three and four fourteen fifty. You want to call
- 35:12Speaker 3: five oh two four one four fourteen fifty if you
- 35:15Speaker 3: want to text in, We'll get to your text as
- 35:17Speaker 3: soon as we get back in. Boy, what a crazy
- 35:19Speaker 3: story that was in Oklahoma yesterday that I don't know
- 35:21Speaker 3: if you've seen the video of it or not, but
- 35:25Speaker 3: of the principle no, we'll talk about that when we
- 35:29Speaker 3: get back. And Plus the anniversary of a big technological
- 35:34Speaker 3: event happened yesterday, we'll talk about that as well. Stay
- 35:36Speaker 3: right there a lot more justicats coming up. Five O
- 36:18Speaker 3: two three four fourteen fifty one to call two four
- 36:20Speaker 3: one four fourteen fifty one a text in on the
- 36:22Speaker 3: Whiskey FEF text line, or you can tweek me at
- 36:24Speaker 3: just the Cat radio. So uh in one of the
- 36:28Speaker 3: rare events justin I I'm in trouble. But yeah, the
- 36:35Speaker 3: rare event is that my wife is listening to the show.
- 36:39Speaker 3: You haven't said anything bad, Well, according to her, I've
- 36:43Speaker 3: said something really bad. If I want to have a
- 36:45Speaker 3: wife ever again, I need to correct and redact what
- 36:47Speaker 3: I just said on.
- 36:48Speaker 2: The radio a little bit, yeah that there.
- 36:51Speaker 3: I have been told that there is professional sports in Louisville, Kentucky,
- 36:56Speaker 3: and it's a women's soccer team, and if I don't
- 36:58Speaker 3: mention that that, I will be coming home to an
- 37:02Speaker 3: empty house. And uh so, yeah, I've so, and therefore
- 37:06Speaker 3: she is she is now buying you, me and Matthew
- 37:09Speaker 3: tickets to the women's soccer game and we have to
- 37:12Speaker 3: take a picture there.
- 37:13Speaker 4: I have been to a Racing Wolf game I like.
- 37:17Speaker 4: And I'm sorry that I didn't bring it up. And Patricia,
- 37:21Speaker 4: just know that every time I have brought it up
- 37:23Speaker 4: in the past, it always gets shot down that it's
- 37:27Speaker 4: this not important sport or it doesn't matter. So I
- 37:31Speaker 4: would have brought it up, but I didn't want to
- 37:33Speaker 4: get shot down.
- 37:34Speaker 2: I don't like soccer. I just, I mean, shoot me,
- 37:37Speaker 2: I just I am not a soccer fan. I never
- 37:40Speaker 2: have been.
- 37:41Speaker 3: I mean, oh, okay, thank you, but yeah, okay, I
- 37:48Speaker 3: said it.
- 37:48Speaker 2: There you go women's soccer professional major League.
- 37:52Speaker 3: I love it. So she's telling me she'll get me
- 37:58Speaker 3: a schedule. So, oh my god, I have opened up
- 38:04Speaker 3: a mammoth thunderstorm right now. One person texted in five
- 38:08Speaker 3: two fifty another thrilling cross talk. Gentlemen, it was thrilling.
- 38:15Speaker 3: I mean that was you couldn't help it. Thank goodness,
- 38:19Speaker 3: you resolve the issue and we're all set to go.
- 38:23Speaker 3: Josha texted, look, man, how do meteologists get so much
- 38:29Speaker 3: smoke for being wrong? And college sports insiders just throw
- 38:33Speaker 3: stuff at the wall and get more wrong than any
- 38:37Speaker 3: other profession and still get passes. The rush for news
- 38:40Speaker 3: and being first has led a lot of journalists integrity
- 38:44Speaker 3: be left on the table. I understand these folks have
- 38:47Speaker 3: jobs to do, but just stop. Also, I want to
- 38:51Speaker 3: know what does dose of Cornbrad Hemp, John is on
- 38:58Speaker 3: to have confidence in UK gotta be on the highest
- 39:02Speaker 3: dose and washing it down with whiskey e fan Oldtopple
- 39:06Speaker 3: nice ex Josh. I'm with you because you know, I
- 39:11Speaker 3: know there is a very very very nameless popular radio
- 39:16Speaker 3: show that talks about Kentucky sports on a daily basis
- 39:20Speaker 3: from ten till noon that the head host just guesses
- 39:25Speaker 3: stuff and anyway and people buy it. That's that's the
- 39:32Speaker 3: part that gets me, is that people buy what this
- 39:35Speaker 3: guy says and same thing with no offense, John Goodman,
- 39:38Speaker 3: but you're the same way. Jeff Goodman. I like John Goodman.
- 39:43Speaker 3: Trust John, Yeah, I can trust John. Yeah, especially if
- 39:46Speaker 3: he's a minister down in North Carolina. I mean he's
- 39:49Speaker 3: a great minister.
- 39:50Speaker 4: By the way.
- 39:51Speaker 3: You don't get that joke, do you. He was the
- 39:53Speaker 3: star of a Righteous Jim Stones.
- 39:55Speaker 4: Never seen it.
- 39:57Speaker 3: You've never seen Righteous Jim. Okay, you've got to go
- 39:59Speaker 3: watch watch that one. You will thank me if you
- 40:02Speaker 3: watch that one. He is phenomenal in that show. It's hilarious.
- 40:06Speaker 3: But no, Yeah, I just these guys, I would say
- 40:13Speaker 3: percentage wise, and you gret me if you think I'm wrong.
- 40:16Speaker 3: I think fifty of a fifty percent of the media
- 40:19Speaker 3: guys don't know what they're talking about. The other fifty
- 40:22Speaker 3: percent have a relative knowledge of what they're talking about
- 40:26Speaker 3: when it comes to predictions of certain players, coaches, and
- 40:29Speaker 3: all that kind of stuff. What do you think is
- 40:31Speaker 3: it that high? Am I too high? Am I too low?
- 40:33Speaker 3: I think you're too high. I would say I'm too high.
- 40:36Speaker 4: Really, twenty five to thirty percent of them are ridiculously
- 40:42Speaker 4: well connected and know what they're talking about. I think
- 40:45Speaker 4: a lot of the media nowadays is throwing stuff at
- 40:48Speaker 4: the wall and seeing what can stick. Because social media
- 40:51Speaker 4: changed all of that, right, it changed the way that
- 40:54Speaker 4: reporters and journalists have to go about their day to
- 40:57Speaker 4: day jobs. Right in anybody point now it can be
- 41:00Speaker 4: a journalist quote unquote journalist on social media. So it's
- 41:06Speaker 4: just it's all different than it ever has been, and
- 41:09Speaker 4: it'll continue to evolve, and heck, who knows, maybe one
- 41:12Speaker 4: day we don't even recognize it.
- 41:15Speaker 3: I know, because you know, I've gotten to know a
- 41:17Speaker 3: few of the coaches at UK and it's funny how
- 41:20Speaker 3: they talk about one particular person a lot, how much
- 41:23Speaker 3: that it's like, dude, didn't know, and it's amazing to me.
- 41:28Speaker 3: Vince Merrill would tell me stories and it's like, wow,
- 41:32Speaker 3: why do you put up with it? Well, we just do,
- 41:36Speaker 3: so I don't know why people just listen to that
- 41:39Speaker 3: kind of stuff. One person, John here, I have my
- 41:43Speaker 3: company take out a little extra on state and federal taxes.
- 41:47Speaker 3: This is like a little savings account that I cannot touch.
- 41:51Speaker 3: Plus if you do real estate or a side business
- 41:54Speaker 3: plus a regular job, then this can help pay down
- 41:58Speaker 3: your taxes that you may have to pay on those Also.
- 42:02Speaker 3: I am not a tax professional or financial advisor. I
- 42:05Speaker 3: am just a normal guy sharing what I do to
- 42:08Speaker 3: help myself at text time. Gotta go talk to you later.
- 42:11Speaker 3: I think that's a great suggestion. That's what I try
- 42:13Speaker 3: and do is I open a saving account, stuff it
- 42:17Speaker 3: in there, and you don't touch it all the year,
- 42:18Speaker 3: and guess what, you get a little interest off of it,
- 42:20Speaker 3: and you make a little money off of it, off
- 42:22Speaker 3: of the government.
- 42:23Speaker 2: That's the way I look at it.
- 42:25Speaker 4: I haven't pull a certain amount out of my paycheck
- 42:27Speaker 4: every week, do you really?
- 42:30Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's the smart thing to do.
- 42:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:32Speaker 3: Well, it's better to just count on the money to
- 42:35Speaker 3: be in there and you won't have to. But it
- 42:37Speaker 3: still creates anxiety for me. And I still don't like
- 42:40Speaker 3: the fifty. Well there's multitude of reasons I don't like
- 42:43Speaker 3: this day. But anyway, we'll talk about that maybe a
- 42:46Speaker 3: little later. But one person texted in as far as
- 42:49Speaker 3: Stokes possibly committing, I think you assume he won't. You
- 42:54Speaker 3: build the best team possible, and if he commits, you
- 42:57Speaker 3: go find the money.
- 42:58Speaker 2: I'm right there with you. I think that's it.
- 43:01Speaker 4: You. You you look.
- 43:02Speaker 3: At the opportunities that present themselves right now. Don't count
- 43:06Speaker 3: on Wait, wait, wait, you go find the people that
- 43:08Speaker 3: you know will commit to you immediately you take them,
- 43:11Speaker 3: and then you know what, It'll be a little added
- 43:13Speaker 3: bonus if you bring them, because you know, I agree
- 43:16Speaker 3: with you texture in great text by the way, you
- 43:19Speaker 3: know that if you bring in the top player in
- 43:22Speaker 3: for this next coming season, people are gonna give money.
- 43:25Speaker 3: They are, especially with the percentage that the NIL has increased.
- 43:30Speaker 3: I don't know if you've seen this or not, but
- 43:32Speaker 3: they they're saying that the NIL market for Division one
- 43:37Speaker 3: players is reported to beat up sixty five percent from
- 43:41Speaker 3: last year.
- 43:43Speaker 4: Did you see that number? I did?
- 43:45Speaker 3: That's crazy. I would have never thought it was good.
- 43:48Speaker 3: I would have probably said roughly twenty five to thirty percent.
- 43:52Speaker 3: That's what I would have guessed.
- 43:54Speaker 4: Well, and that that's the problem with getting away from name,
- 43:57Speaker 4: image and likeness and letting these kids name their own price.
- 44:01Speaker 4: I mean, the fact that Sonanda Fru from Louisville wants
- 44:05Speaker 4: three million. Is Ludfroic Olivier Reu from Florida. The seven
- 44:10Speaker 4: foot nine kid averaged half a point and half a
- 44:13Speaker 4: rebound a game and like three seven appearances. He wants
- 44:16Speaker 4: three million? Why?
- 44:19Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, How do you justify that you can't. I
- 44:24Speaker 3: think you were gone when we talked about a Matthew
- 44:26Speaker 3: and I talked about that he, like you just said,
- 44:29Speaker 3: he averaged half a point a game.
- 44:31Speaker 2: Who is going to give him three million dollars?
- 44:34Speaker 3: Is he asking for more hoping that maybe he gets
- 44:37Speaker 3: half that or a little less than that to where
- 44:39Speaker 3: you know, you always ask for more when you're when
- 44:42Speaker 3: you're in sales, you ask for more and you settle
- 44:45Speaker 3: with less, and you never know there's gonna be that
- 44:48Speaker 3: one time that the customer is going to say, yeah,
- 44:50Speaker 3: i'll pay you. That there might be some idiot school
- 44:52Speaker 3: out there that says, okay, we'll pay you three million,
- 44:55Speaker 3: or what can we do to get close to that,
- 44:58Speaker 3: I'll give you two and a half. Well, you're always
- 45:00Speaker 3: asking for more. So, uh, seventy three percent of the
- 45:04Speaker 3: players are transferring from a power conference school. If they
- 45:08Speaker 3: are transferring from a lower mid major, it's up from
- 45:12Speaker 3: forty four percent for those players. I mean, it's just
- 45:16Speaker 3: crazy how it is. I want to talk about what
- 45:18Speaker 3: their demand is by position when we come back, but rats,
- 45:23Speaker 3: well it's crazy and it's just got to stop somehow someway.
- 45:25Speaker 3: So we're going to talk about that. We'll get more
- 45:27Speaker 3: to your textan just a couple of minutes five O
- 45:29Speaker 3: two fourteen fifty, stay right there, hour two, coming right up.
- 45:53Speaker 2: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 46:01Speaker 3: All right, I were number two on this Wednesday, April
- 46:04Speaker 3: fifteenth text day. I hope you're all ready for that.
- 46:08Speaker 3: But let's get back to a couple of these texts
- 46:09Speaker 3: right here. Five two four one four fourteen fifty. On
- 46:12Speaker 3: the Whiskey Thief text line, one person said they're trying
- 46:15Speaker 3: to expand the stadium for soccer to fifteen thousand and two.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Move up?
- 46:20Speaker 4: Is that true? Huh? I wouldn't be surprised by that that.
- 46:24Speaker 3: I will congratulations if they do that, But I do
- 46:30Speaker 3: I wish them the best of luck. I want to
- 46:34Speaker 3: see something here succeed and do well that is possibly
- 46:37Speaker 3: major league, because you know, I would predict that.
- 46:43Speaker 2: Soccer one day.
- 46:44Speaker 3: I mean, all right, do you think soccer one day
- 46:48Speaker 3: will overtake NFL professional soccer? You don't think that'll ever happen,
- 46:52Speaker 3: all because it had you know, clearly that's the sport
- 46:56Speaker 3: in Europe. Do you think there's ever a day that
- 47:00Speaker 3: will come? We're NFL over takes soccer in Europe or
- 47:05Speaker 3: will it always being.
- 47:06Speaker 4: Maybe hundreds of years down the line. I mean that's
- 47:10Speaker 4: once you start maybe getting teams over there more than
- 47:13Speaker 4: you do already. Or yeah, potentially at a league or
- 47:16Speaker 4: a division off of the NFL over there, then that
- 47:19Speaker 4: could potentially happen. But no, soccer is their bread and butter.
- 47:23Speaker 3: One person texted Ted Lasso is a great show. It's
- 47:27Speaker 3: such a great show. You've got to go watch it
- 47:31Speaker 3: because you like soccer. Correct, I love soccer? Yeah, okay,
- 47:36Speaker 3: then this is the perfect show for you. I don't
- 47:38Speaker 3: like soccer yet I loved this show. I mean Jason
- 47:42Speaker 3: Siedekas does a phenomenal job.
- 47:44Speaker 4: I like him.
- 47:45Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it's it's hilarious. I promise you would love it.
- 47:50Speaker 3: Let's see here. H forty eight handily said, let me
- 47:54Speaker 3: get make sure I get all of them. The president
- 47:57Speaker 3: of the Heat was also a former UK player number
- 47:59Speaker 3: forty too.
- 48:00Speaker 2: That's right, yeah, exactly.
- 48:03Speaker 3: Uh it is related to money, bet On Churchill Downs Incorporated.
- 48:09Speaker 2: What's related to money.
- 48:11Speaker 4: They're meeting today? Alsumi?
- 48:13Speaker 2: Oh it's really oh related to money? Oh okay, is
- 48:16Speaker 2: that what it is?
- 48:17Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 48:18Speaker 2: Uh is where?
- 48:20Speaker 6: Uh?
- 48:21Speaker 3: It's where they slaughter livestock, rest in peace, butcher Town
- 48:24Speaker 3: pub advertising jingles. How about uh oh Alpernell advertising that sausage,
- 48:32Speaker 3: Hello folks, Alpernell, Hell, this is Alpronell. That was one
- 48:37Speaker 3: of the most heartwarming, home felt commercials that I dearly
- 48:44Speaker 3: miss Alpernell here.
- 48:46Speaker 2: I mean I did, I loved and I still by that.
- 48:49Speaker 2: Uh Listen.
- 48:51Speaker 3: I had a coworker that lived in Knoxville, Tennessee, Michael Davis,
- 48:57Speaker 3: and he knew growing up in knox Tennessee. He knew
- 49:01Speaker 3: the entire advertisement of Al Pronells from Simpsonville, Kentucky.
- 49:06Speaker 2: It always amazed me. It's like I thought this was
- 49:08Speaker 2: just a little thing.
- 49:09Speaker 3: They're from Simpsonville, Kentucky, and he knew him down in Knoxville, Tennessee.
- 49:13Speaker 3: I thought that was great. The ending has always been
- 49:15Speaker 3: the best. It's good, It's good exactly.
- 49:19Speaker 2: That was.
- 49:20Speaker 4: That was one of the greatest.
- 49:21Speaker 9: And you remember that still today, just like I remember
- 49:24Speaker 9: the I remember Pronell's homegrown home folks sausage, and I
- 49:28Speaker 9: remember the jingle four uh Fishers.
- 49:33Speaker 2: The bacon making people.
- 49:34Speaker 4: I meant that Parnell's still well, at least as of
- 49:38Speaker 4: a couple of years ago. They still advertised with the Bats,
- 49:41Speaker 4: so you'll hear those commercials from time to time.
- 49:44Speaker 2: But they don't do the TV commercials anymore, do they.
- 49:46Speaker 4: I haven't seen one.
- 49:47Speaker 3: No, I mean, I don't know if it's because he
- 49:49Speaker 3: passed away or not. I know there's a advertiser here
- 49:52Speaker 3: in town for air conditioning company, and uh it's it's
- 49:57Speaker 3: It was the grandfather that would always have a little saying.
- 50:00Speaker 3: Then it became the sun. Now it's the grandsons that
- 50:03Speaker 3: have their little saying. And I forget what that was.
- 50:07Speaker 3: But anyway, that was always a really good one. But
- 50:12Speaker 3: the job is not completely done done until you're satisfied
- 50:17Speaker 3: with the job or whatever it was.
- 50:18Speaker 2: It's an ac company, I know, I am.
- 50:23Speaker 3: But anyway, one person said, there's plenty of professional sports
- 50:30Speaker 3: in Louisville. Now there's only one major league and that's racing.
- 50:35Speaker 3: Bat's lou City Kings are all professional. I might consider
- 50:39Speaker 3: U of l professional now as well. You have to
- 50:43Speaker 3: consider U of L UK every college athlete out there.
- 50:48Speaker 3: It's professional sports. It's not no longer amateur. So yeah,
- 50:52Speaker 3: but it's just it's professional sports. But it's not major league,
- 50:56Speaker 3: so no, it's not the highest thing yeah, yeah, thank you. Yeah,
- 51:02Speaker 3: with the exception of the women's soccer team, as I
- 51:07Speaker 3: continue to get in trouble. But anyway, even even I'm
- 51:10Speaker 3: saying it, I'm getting in trouble.
- 51:12Speaker 4: Uh uh.
- 51:13Speaker 3: Anyway, I'll be okay. I preferred this is great. What
- 51:19Speaker 3: person said, I preferred fat John Goodman over skinny John Goodman.
- 51:25Speaker 3: Righteous Jim Stones is hilarious, as as his Vice Principal
- 51:29Speaker 3: another Danny McBride and Walter Groggin's comedy. I did not
- 51:34Speaker 3: know who Danny McBride or Walter Goggins was until Righteous
- 51:41Speaker 3: Jim Stones, and now I have gone back and watched
- 51:44Speaker 3: Vice Principals. I've watched They had another Baseball one which
- 51:48Speaker 3: was really funny. But Danny McBride is unbelievably hilarious. I've
- 51:53Speaker 3: never heard of I'm talking.
- 51:55Speaker 4: Oh you haven't.
- 51:56Speaker 3: He's down, He's pounding down. That's the other one. Yes,
- 51:59Speaker 3: he spounding down. It's I love that guy. I mean
- 52:04Speaker 3: anything that he is in I will watch. Oh, here's
- 52:07Speaker 3: another one. They animated Charlie Wilson for his commercials Now,
- 52:11Speaker 3: which is different.
- 52:13Speaker 4: Do you like the Charlie Wilson, Yeah, No, I don't.
- 52:17Speaker 3: I don't either I mean there used to be a
- 52:20Speaker 3: guy or Ryan used cars.
- 52:25Speaker 4: I forget. I wish I could remember.
- 52:28Speaker 3: He was the smiling I think we've talked about it
- 52:31Speaker 3: on the show before, the Smiling Irishman. And he talk
- 52:34Speaker 3: like dish, kind of like Lou Holt. And he was
- 52:37Speaker 3: always a Smithing Irishman. And I mean it was the
- 52:40Speaker 3: greatest commercial. He always had this gigantic green jacket on.
- 52:45Speaker 3: He looked fantastic.
- 52:46Speaker 4: I think did we play it on the show.
- 52:50Speaker 3: Oh, he was awesome. I mean I love the Smithing Irishman.
- 52:54Speaker 3: I mean, I'll never forget that still to this day.
- 52:58Speaker 5: Uh.
- 52:58Speaker 2: But of course I've lost contact where I am with
- 53:01Speaker 2: all our texts.
- 53:02Speaker 4: But here's a good here's a good one that I
- 53:04Speaker 4: feel like we should read because it's on our station.
- 53:07Speaker 4: The A s I is the A s I Plumbing
- 53:09Speaker 4: jingle is perfection. Tommy, Tommy the toilet slaps on the mic.
- 53:15Speaker 3: I'm right there with her, now A s I Plumbing dot.
- 53:19Speaker 4: Com pipe it text it no matter the task, just.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Ask I like that. That is good.
- 53:26Speaker 4: Uh.
- 53:27Speaker 3: There's the one with the two lawyers that drives me nuts.
- 53:29Speaker 3: I don't think they do anymore because I think they're
- 53:31Speaker 3: not together anymore. But they had a lawyer jingle. It
- 53:35Speaker 3: was a rap. I don't know if you ever saw that. Yeah,
- 53:39Speaker 3: it was five o two and I'm not gonna say
- 53:42Speaker 3: the rest of it because it gets the guy's number out.
- 53:44Speaker 3: But it was just a horrible rap. It was a rap,
- 53:48Speaker 3: literally a rap. It was terrible, just like at the
- 53:51Speaker 3: old station on the other show. On my show, Uh,
- 53:55Speaker 3: Shannon had me do a rap for the the Hemp Company,
- 54:02Speaker 3: and I was terrible at it. Some people just don't
- 54:06Speaker 3: have the ability to wrap. I am one of those guys.
- 54:08Speaker 4: I'm sure it was a better commercial than what Tony
- 54:10Speaker 4: Malito puts out.
- 54:13Speaker 3: Is it really okay? I don't know one person. I
- 54:17Speaker 3: am not on any John here again, I'm not on anything.
- 54:20Speaker 3: I am just on positive vibes. Just let's just let
- 54:24Speaker 3: everything play out. Then we can make claims about other
- 54:28Speaker 3: media individuals or even one other think about me on
- 54:32Speaker 3: the text line. I can tell you this is if this,
- 54:35Speaker 3: I can tell you this. If I was working for
- 54:37Speaker 3: the Kentucky basketball staff, I would already have these guys
- 54:40Speaker 3: on the roster. We will get players. I'm right there
- 54:43Speaker 3: with you, John, I'm gonna tell you right now. If
- 54:47Speaker 3: you were, if you were on the Kentucky staff, I
- 54:50Speaker 3: have one thousand percent believe you would have the players
- 54:53Speaker 3: on the roster right now.
- 54:55Speaker 2: I do not doubt that whatsoever. So I wish you were.
- 55:01Speaker 4: Time.
- 55:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 55:05Speaker 3: One person said Jay with his with first link, Jay,
- 55:08Speaker 3: why do you always have your finger in the air.
- 55:12Speaker 3: I'm pointing at those low prices? Man, Just look up there.
- 55:16Speaker 3: That's a good one.
- 55:17Speaker 2: I don't remember jaf with first link. What's first link?
- 55:20Speaker 4: I don't really remember either, but I definitely remember this.
- 55:23Speaker 3: Jingle that Yeah, yeah, Bob Ryan, thank you Jamie, Jamie Texans.
- 55:30Speaker 3: The smiling irishman was Bob Ryan. He remembers that. Okay,
- 55:34Speaker 3: so I'm not the only one out there. I'm so
- 55:36Speaker 3: glad that that. That just makes me happy. All right,
- 55:38Speaker 3: here's what they are paying for players this past season,
- 55:44Speaker 3: and what the market demand is. Point guards eight hundred
- 55:49Speaker 3: and thirteen thousand, shooting guards nine hundred and nineteen thousand.
- 55:53Speaker 3: Now this is the average, you are correct. Power forwards
- 55:58Speaker 3: are going for a million fifteen, small ford a million
- 56:01Speaker 3: one seventy five, and sinners are.
- 56:03Speaker 2: Going for one point three million dollars.
- 56:06Speaker 3: Are you surprised that point guard shooting Uh let me,
- 56:10Speaker 3: let me get this right. That shooting guards are the
- 56:15Speaker 3: least expensive, or I'm sorry, point guards are the least expensive.
- 56:19Speaker 2: Insiders are the most expensive.
- 56:22Speaker 4: Point guards does surprise me. I'm not surprised that the
- 56:25Speaker 4: centers are the most expensive, because when you think about
- 56:28Speaker 4: just the landscape of basketball and how the game's played,
- 56:31Speaker 4: the bigger you are, the more likely you are going
- 56:33Speaker 4: to be to have success. I mean, look at what
- 56:35Speaker 4: Illinois did this past year with all those seven footers,
- 56:38Speaker 4: So I think teams are wanting to get bigger, which
- 56:42Speaker 4: makes sense. Now. Point guards, though, I don't know why
- 56:46Speaker 4: they would be the lowest, because that's the guy that
- 56:49Speaker 4: runs the skime. He's the straw that stirs the drink
- 56:52Speaker 4: for almost every program across the country. So I would imagine,
- 56:57Speaker 4: or I would have guessed, that they would have probably
- 56:59Speaker 4: been the most high dollar behind center. So that's it
- 57:03Speaker 4: is a little unusual that, yeah, they're the lowest.
- 57:06Speaker 3: I was surprised by that because of the fact that
- 57:09Speaker 3: I would have figured, if anything, I mean, they would
- 57:13Speaker 3: have been probably right there the second or third highest
- 57:18Speaker 3: on the team, not not the least, because I feel
- 57:21Speaker 3: like point guards are the one thing that has been
- 57:23Speaker 3: missing at UK the last two years. That's been the
- 57:27Speaker 3: major league missing link for UK and had nobody to
- 57:32Speaker 3: run the offense. So anyway, all right, well let's mix
- 57:36Speaker 3: it up just a little bit. UK football is finishing,
- 57:40Speaker 3: you know, spring practice, the first one under will Stein,
- 57:44Speaker 3: and I'm just curious what you think because you know
- 57:48Speaker 3: the spring game is going to be Saturday, his first
- 57:51Speaker 3: one eleven o'clock. Like I mentioned yesterday, the game will
- 57:55Speaker 3: not be televised, so you won't be able to see
- 57:58Speaker 3: unless you go there in person o'clock. So making a
- 58:00Speaker 3: big UK day, you got eleven o'clock for UK football.
- 58:04Speaker 3: You can go there and tailgate it. They're gonna allow
- 58:06Speaker 3: that and you can go in there and watch the
- 58:07Speaker 3: game and then from there go to the baseball game.
- 58:10Speaker 4: So what do you think.
- 58:15Speaker 3: Are the biggest questions in will Stein's first season at UK.
- 58:23Speaker 4: I don't really have any big concerns as that stands
- 58:27Speaker 4: right now. I mean, I'm just I'm anxious to see
- 58:30Speaker 4: the schemes that he uses, both offensively and defensively, but
- 58:35Speaker 4: I don't have any big The only really worry that
- 58:38Speaker 4: I have for this season is something that he can't
- 58:40Speaker 4: even control, and that's the schedule. Yeah. Other than that,
- 58:44Speaker 4: I mean, I think he's and I've said this, I
- 58:47Speaker 4: think even earlier this week, but he's gonna be in
- 58:51Speaker 4: games that Kentucky has no business being in because it's
- 58:55Speaker 4: just that's I have that much confidence that will Stein
- 58:58Speaker 4: will eventually be a really, really good head coach. I
- 59:02Speaker 4: just see.
- 59:03Speaker 3: That's what I think too. I think that they're gonna
- 59:06Speaker 3: you said it exactly how I thought it. They're gonna
- 59:08Speaker 3: be in games that we did not expect to be in.
- 59:11Speaker 3: They're gonna have opportunities to win it. Whether or not
- 59:14Speaker 3: they do obviously remains to be unseen. So but but
- 59:19Speaker 3: it's gonna be a competitive team. His mindset is different
- 59:23Speaker 3: than what we've seen in a little bit. The fact that, listen,
- 59:27Speaker 3: we're selling this program as we are a football program
- 59:31Speaker 3: and we are going to win here. And I like
- 59:34Speaker 3: that mindset. That's the mindset you have to have going
- 59:37Speaker 3: into your first season. So I really like what will
- 59:39Speaker 3: Stein has said quite a bit. I haven't been disappointed
- 59:42Speaker 3: in anything he has said. I feel like for a
- 59:46Speaker 3: first time head coach, justin he said everything correctly. He
- 59:50Speaker 3: hasn't made it. There hasn't been. I'm not gonna say
- 59:52Speaker 3: there's been a mistake, but I'm definitely gonna say he
- 59:55Speaker 3: hasn't slipped up yet on anything he said publicly about
- 59:58Speaker 3: this football program.
- 59:59Speaker 4: I mean, he certainly off the field so far, I
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: would agree with that. He's certainly won off the field.
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: Now you gotta translate that to the field, which again,
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: with the schedule coming up this year, I don't think
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: it's gonna happen this year. But just be patient with
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: this guy, because I think I do think in due
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: time he's gonna do some really nice things. I could
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: see him getting to that ten win threshold. I could
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: see him having Kentucky in the playoffs at some point
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: in the next half a decade, decade, whatever it ends
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: up being. But I have all the faith in the
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: world and will Stein that he's going to come in
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: and be good to go. Oh absolutely.
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: And the fact that he's bringing in the players that
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: he's bringing I mean, the recruiting that he has done.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: I mean we talked about the football the quarterback that
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: he just brought in yesterday, the number two quarterback in
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: the entire country, some of the defensive players he's bringing in,
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: the running back that he's bringing in the wide receivers.
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: I mean, here's how I base it. When you see
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: players that UK is fighting for or to get to
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: come to Kentucky, I look at where other schools those
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: players are considering as well. And you've heard me talking.
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: You heard me talk about it yesterday. And when I
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: see them considering and picking UK over the likes of
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: in Oklahoma, in Alabama and LSU Tennessee and Ohio State
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: and Michigan, and they're looking at Kentucky and considering them,
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: or they're picking Kentucky or Oregon, I feel like, Okay,
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: you are moving up the ladder in a gigantic way
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: and making Kentucky a valid reason for these players to
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: come play for you.
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: I just I love that aspect.
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: You trying to tick me off.
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: I didn't say Indiana, So sorry about that.
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: All these powerhouse programs because you conveniently forget Indiana, who's
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: won twenty seven games the last two years. That wasn't
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: intentional promise. That wasn't intentional.
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: I'm just thinking about all the powerhouses out there, and
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: I forgot I did, I sure didn't. They just won
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: a championship. Yeah, can you call I guess two years.
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: Are they considered a powerhouse for the next season.
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: I'm here to tell you right now, for the next
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: ten years, they are a powerhouse. Get used to it.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: I think you're right, and I think it's going to
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: really tick off the Michigans in the Ohio states up
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: there in big tin Land, and they're not going to
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: be used to this kind of stuff. They better get
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: ready for Indiana football. But I apologize that was not intentional.
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: I promise, I totally no.
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: It was.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: Well, it was rude, but it wasn't intentional. Okay, well,
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: what do you want me to do. I'll come over
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: there and kiss you on the hand.
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: Okay, we're good.
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: I'm not that bad. Well, thank goodness. Uh, but what
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: do you think about the lottery going overseas now? I mean,
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: you're wearing your lottery hat today. Did you see that
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: they're going to allow that the power Ball be sold
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: overseas in Europe.
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: To United Kingdom?
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: Yeah, seriously, I'm totally serious about that. It's not now
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: with that they think that they're going to win. I
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: have a lot more winners with all the people that
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: they're expanding and coming in to power Ball, But it
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: won't make it to where you have a better chance.
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: The odds will still be against you to win, ye,
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: but there will be a lot more people is what
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: they're predicting. That's why they're doing it, a lot more
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: people winning. So I go two ways with this.
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: With more people playing, that would mean you're obviously gonna
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: have higher jackpots, yes, but also with more people playing,
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: like you just said, you're gonna have more people winning.
- 1:03:44Speaker 4: So does this cut down on those massive, like two
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: billion dollar jackpots do? They think not?
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: And they think it'll add to it.
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: So but if people are winning, you would think it
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: would add against it. So in other words, they would
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: be winning ten to twenty fifth million something like that.
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: So cause that's what that's what's really hyped it up,
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: I think is the fact that these jackpots have gone
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: upwards of half a billion all the way out to
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: over a billion. But people forget you think that you're
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: winning a billion dollars. No, they're not winning a billion dollars.
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: The lottery keeps after they get that gigantic portion, and
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: then guess who gets another big gigantic portion, the government
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: because they're going to tax the heck out of you.
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: So yeah, you're getting a billion dollars on paper, but
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: and that big check that you get says a billion dollars,
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: but you're probably what getting three or four hundred million
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: by the end of the day, a right, And.
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: A lot of people don't realize this either with big
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: time wins like that. So not only are you getting
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: taxed off the jump and they're taking over half of
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: your prize, but come April fifteenth, that following year, guess
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: who gets taxed again on that amount of money.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's ridiculous.
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: That's why you need a good tax accounting lawyer and
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: a good accountant, so you that's the first thing you
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: need to do is Number one. You make certain that
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: no one ever finds out that your name is publicly
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: displayed when you win the lottery. That's the number one thing,
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: because trust me, everybody's going to come out of the
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: woodwork trying to see you again. Number two, you want
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: to make sure that you have a tax accountant, a
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: very good one, and a tax lawyer, because they're going
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: to try and keep a lot of that taxation coming
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: towards you and save a lot of money for you.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: Because you're going to sign up for all kinds of
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: stuff and you didn't even know about that's going to
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: save you money. So yeah, yeah, those are the first
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: and then you can go have fun. But you know what,
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: I would love to know this percentage of people that
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: win the lottery go broke and just go burn through
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: all that money, wouldn't The guy that wanted here in
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: Kentucky from Kentucky and then he goes down to Florida
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: and gets arrested down there like twice, Yeah, what's up
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: with him? But uh, anyway, yeah, I don't I'm not
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: gonna say his name. I don't want him come after me,
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: but I just think that's just ridiculous.
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: Yeah well, okay, fair well he might he might be
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: able to hear me. I don't know.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: So my wife certainly is gonna put me in jail
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: after some of the things I've said today. So we
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: got to take another break. Five or two four one four,
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: fourteen fifty. You want to text me on the Whiskey
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: Thief text line. We'll get back to your text in
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: just a minute. But uh uh, stay right there. We
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: got a lot more to talk about.
- 1:06:30Speaker 8: This is just the cats, the desert road from Vegas
- 1:07:13Speaker 8: to Novel.
- 1:07:17Speaker 10: Some place better, coffin machine needs a little fixing.
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: I love you know.
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: I think sometimes people miss just, uh, you know, the
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: opportunity to hear how funny you are, because you know,
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: you're just so honest with me and it just makes
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: me laugh. You clearly during the break did not like, well,
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: nobody heard what you were saying.
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: Going back on the air. You don't like this song.
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: That's horrible.
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: It's horrib Yeah, and if there's not my favorite either,
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: but I just wanted to play something different.
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: If there's one thing about me, you can know that
- 1:07:59Speaker 4: you're alway gonna get it honest. I don't sugarcoat anything.
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: Well, I think that's why we attract or we were
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: attracted to each other, because I'm very much the same way.
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: There's no sugarcoating it. When you ask me a question,
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: I'm gonna give your honest answer. If you don't like it,
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: then don't ask me the question in the first place.
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: I mean, it always amazes me when people get mad,
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: Like my boys will get mad at me because it's
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: not the answer they wanted. They thought I would give
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: them a completely different answer. It's like, well, you know what,
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: if there's that opportunity, a risk that I might answer
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: it a way that you were not expecting.
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: They do not ask the question. Yeah, and I think
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: that's fair.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: So it does frustrate when people get mad at me
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: about that kind of stuff. But I just anyway, Josh
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: texted it out Jay with first link. Oh and I
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: already read that one, so thanks man first link. I
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: didn't know this. One person texted in first link was
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: a grocery store in Liberty back in the day. It's
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: now closed, unfortunately, a Rundown building near the Mission House.
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: I know exactly where that is. I think they had
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: a pharmacy there as well, but yeah, I've been to
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: that store. One person, Texas, do you remember the trivia
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: show High Q that was on Wave on Sunday Morning's
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: local high school quick Recall show. I do remember that, yes,
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: And I always admired those young people that were on
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: High Q.
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: So they would go there and it was all the
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: smart kids from every school around the state and they
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: would come there and it was you know, it was
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: like a jeopardy and they would ask questions and they
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: would have to push button and answer the question. And
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, I could never I would watch
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: it for about five ten minutes. It's like, yeah, I
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: could never answer a single question that wouldn't for me.
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: It's like, are you smarter than a fifth grader? Those
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: kids are geniuses? Yeah, but but they're not really fifth graders,
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: so are they.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: I mean they might be the age they might be
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: hold on.
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: They might be the age of a fifth grader, but
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: they probably have the intelligence of someone a lot smarter
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: than them, and they're probably prepared to answer a lot
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: of questions that not the normal person.
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: Is known to answer.
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: True.
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, that's I never think those things are good.
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: Those shows were always kind of dumb to me. I
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: don't I'm not a big game show person.
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: I like game shows. I mean I grew up. I
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: grew up watching game shows like mom, I remember my
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: grandma always watching like match Game and stuff like that.
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: Yeah I watched that.
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, No, I never watched the newlywed game out
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: Wheel of Fortune. I would watch that one Pat say
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: Jack and Uh. There was a guy that was a
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: host of that that was from Paduca. The original host
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: of uh Wheel of Fortune was from Paducah, Kentucky. I
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: know my Paduca listeners will be texting me in a
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: little bit. But and then price is right. I loved
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: Bob Barker. Yeah, Chuck Rollery. See, I told you somebody
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: was going to text me right away. There it is,
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: is he really?
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: I think so too. I think you're right. Chuck Rollery
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: was great, and I believe he is from Paducah, Kentucky. Uh.
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: One person said, oh, wow, high Q. That takes me
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: back a bit.
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: I watched that every weekend in grade school and middle school.
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: I was a nerd though, well clearly you were if
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: you were admitting that you were watching that show on
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: every weekend.
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: So uh.
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: But yeah, there was nothing else on it. It was either
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: church or it was that kind of stuff. Now, when
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: I was really young, they had replays of Notre Dame
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: games from the day before, and I watched those.
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: I did watch. It was the only college foot that
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: was on.
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: I wanted to watch college football, so I was forced
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: indoor watching Notre Dame football.
- 1:12:05Speaker 4: Highlight You hear that, listeners, There was a day when
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: Michael Bennett did not hate Notre Dame. No, I still
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: didn't like him. No, that's not true.
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: I still didn't like him, but I wanted to watch
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: college football and hopes that there would be a game
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: that Notre Dame would get beat.
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: Yeah, that was Joe Montana.
- 1:12:19Speaker 4: I mean it was you know, he could have looked
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: up in the paper if they had been beat. No,
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: I wanted to watch the game.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: What's wrong with that? I don't have any problem with that.
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: All right, let's talk about this.
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: Yesterday was the anniversary and this goes back to way
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: back in nineteen sixty seven.
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: Where are you?
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: Why is nineteen sixty seven a great.
- 1:12:41Speaker 4: Year my dad was born? If it were if it
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: wasn't for my dad, there wouldn't be any me.
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, good, poor dad. But are you ready for this?
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: Nineteen sixty seven was when they flipped a switch from
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: black and white television to color television, and somebody posted
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: it yesterday on social media. It was actually really cool.
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: You can see these news guys and they're sitting back
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: there and they're black and white newscast.
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: Did you see the video? So, I it's funny you
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: bring this up because I actually watched that for the
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: first time. I want to say, middle of last week
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: that did video just happened to pop up, so I
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: watched it. But yeah, it's cool. It is.
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: So they go from one desk in a broadcast TV
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: station to another desk and all of a sudden they
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: flipped the switch and it was in color, and I
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: thought that was really cool. I mean, I don't remember
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: this happening. I mean, I've always well, I shouldn't say
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: that we did have black and white TVs, but color
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: was out predominantly when I was growing up.
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: But you know, it's just amazing.
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: You know, we talked about going to space last week,
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: and how you know just one hundred years ago that
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: they invented the Wright brothers invented the plane, and here
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: we are going to the moon. Now you got color television,
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: where HD was a big deal, stereo, Dolby stereo. I
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: remember when it was a big deal with Miami Vice
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: when it was out in the eighties, that all the
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: cool music that they played on the TV show Miami
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: Vice was in Dolby stereo. I mean, it's like that
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: was such a big deal. And now you think about it,
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: it's like we're all the way up to four K
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: and I'm taking, how are they going to advance anything
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: else anymore? I don't see how you can make the
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: television screen any better than it is now. Of course,
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: you know they're gonna be doing something.
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, yeah, I think about that sort of
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: thing all the time. I don't know if I can't
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: see a world where we eventually are just all in
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: VR and that's how we're taking in all of our stuff.
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: But yeah, I don't know. I don't know if there's
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: gonna just be a button you push and whatever you
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: want to play, we'll play perfectly in HD on your wall,
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: or I mean, the possibilities could be endless.
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: Yeah, cause I've seen those on different places where they
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: have these small little projectors that will project on the.
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: Wall TV and all that kind of stuff coming from
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: your phone.
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: I just I've always wondered are they really that good
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: or are because they're awfully inexpensive. But I don't know.
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: I just don't know how much more advancement you can make.
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: But there's got to be something out there. I know
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: it's going to change overnight something, because that's how they
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: sell more TVs once you get you know, just like
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: it was in whatever view it was before, and now
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: it's up to four K, you know, it's going to
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: be ten K before we know it.
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: In forty K, it's like, what do we do it?
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know if I need to see
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: everything that clearly, but maybe we did.
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: I just I like to picture myself as an old
- 1:15:43Speaker 4: man and like talking to my grandson, Grandpa, you only
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: have four k we have fifty two.
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: Now, Well, from South Central, said Chuck Woolery is from Ashland, Kentucky.
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: So I messed that up. I thought he he's from Kentucky. Okay,
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: I believe it will from South Central. He from Ashland.
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: So I messed that up. So my friends in Ashland
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: can give me a hard time about that. Chuck Ruwery
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: is from Ashland, Kentucky. I'm sure he's right, But all
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: kinds of famous people from Kentucky.
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: Did you see where the college Football Playoff changed their logo?
- 1:16:21Speaker 11: No?
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: Yes, got a big I U in the middle of it.
- 1:16:27Speaker 3: All right, my gosh, I didn't sign up for that today. Okay,
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: get off the whole thing. Okay, we get it. You
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: won one year, let's talk about it when you win
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: two or three. Okay, all right, we'll talk about it
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: next year. Oh, I'm sure you will. But they changed,
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: but so the football is the same. They didn't change that.
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: All they did. They went from uh spelling out the
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: words college Football Playoff to changing.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: It to c FP.
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: Love it.
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: Everything else is the same. I'm you love it, But
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: I want to know how much do they pay for
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: all this? You know, it's got to be some marketing
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: genius out there. It's like, well, this will cost you
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: a half a million dollars.
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: What are they paying for?
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: That's exactly what I want to know. They just all
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: they did was change it from college football playoffs to CFP.
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: So I guarantee you. Now, I don't know that's the
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: case or not, but I'm just guessing. I guarantee you
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: there's a marketing genius out there that just said, well,
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: we need to change this something.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: You're gonna pay me a bunch of money to do it.
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: That's all he did, I know.
- 1:17:30Speaker 4: I mean, it'll be better for them in the long
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: run with less words, you have to pay less for
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: merchandise and stuff.
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: Well, that part is sure, Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: How about lear Field yesterday, the sports marketing company or
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: the competitor of JMI. They sold to a private equity
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: company for but they they're estimating between one point eight
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: and two billion dollars.
- 1:17:56Speaker 11: Wow.
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: You know, private equity companies have been trying to get
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: into college sports now for a while, and this is
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: their first step into it. And I guarantee you that's
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: what's gonna be different about college sports from here on out.
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: I predict that you won't see because you Learfield's gone now,
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: you won't see JMI much longer.
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: Somebody's gonna eat them up.
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: They're gonna say, well, if they can make that kind
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: of money, do we should cash out as well, which
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: will be good, but it could be bad too. But Learfield,
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: they they run Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee.
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: I mean, it's gonna be interesting to see what changes
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: will be made to those big schools right there.
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: I'm just thinking of because Indiana's a lear Field school too,
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: so I'm no longer they are.
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: I didn't realize Indiana.
- 1:18:51Speaker 4: So I'm no longer gonna hear you're listening to IU
- 1:18:53Speaker 4: basketball and blah blah blah network from Learfield. Correct. I
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: won't hear that anymore. You will, not.
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:19:03Speaker 4: It's just kind It was odd for.
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: Me because my entire life I listened to Jefferson Pilot
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: Sports and that was always the SEC game of the
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: week and it's still to this day. It's kind of
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: weird for me not to hear them talk about Jefferson Pilot,
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: and I miss Larry Conley the color and I forget
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: who all was the play by plays on there. But
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: I loved listening to Larry Conley. Of course he was
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: a UK guy, but you would never know. I would
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: predict for all the other fans out there that listen
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: to him, and he would do a UK game against
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: your team whatever, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, whomever. I guarantee
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: you they would not know he was a former UK player.
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: Well they probably would, but they couldn't tell by his
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: color announcing.
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: He was that good.
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly that that is how it should be, and
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: I thought he was phenomenal at it. I miss hearing
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: Larry Larry conn I've had him on the radio with
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: me one time. It was years ago, and he was
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: so much fun to listen to. I should try to
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: get him on again and talk about where we are
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: sports today.
- 1:20:10Speaker 4: He was good.
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: So, yeah, that's a name I missed from the past.
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: So yes, for your lear Field broadcast, you will not
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: hear that anymore, which is just it is kind of weird.
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: You miss those days when you hear that kind of stuff.
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: That's it.
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: I'm not a proponent of change.
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: I just think that's gonna be really tough. Not only
- 1:20:25Speaker 4: is it gonna be weird for me listening to it,
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: but that's gotta be tough, a tough change for Don Fisher,
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: who's been doing Indiana games for it's probably been saying
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: the same thing on his altros. That's right.
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: You gotta believe he'll have it on a big piece
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: of paper saying this is.
- 1:20:42Speaker 4: What you have to say. That's what I would do exactly, That's.
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: What I would do, because you know, it's got to
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: be different from like, for instance, was it different for
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: Tom Leach to go from Commonwealth Stadium, which it's still
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: Commonwealth Stadium to.
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: Be to Kroger Field? Probably?
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: I bet it was that first year and every now
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: and then I think he would slip up and still
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: call it Commonwealth Stadium, sir. Easy, but yeah, it is
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: easy to do. So anyway, all right, we got to
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: take our last break. If you want to call in

- 1:26:31Speaker 3: And you're making fun because I didn't bring up poogiers.
- 1:26:33Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, maybe you should bring up the hoosiers.
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: No it's it's not just the who's.
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: Well, we're talking about powerhouses in college football. They've got
- 1:26:43Speaker 4: to be on the list.
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: One person said, you down with CFP.
- 1:26:47Speaker 4: Yeah, you know me.
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: Oh that made me laugh. All right, well, I hate
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: to tell you.
- 1:26:56Speaker 3: Some breaking news right now coming out of the University
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: of Louisville, Arkansas, transfer forward Carter Knox has committed to

- 1:27:27Speaker 2: Yeah, and uh.
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: The fact that uh UK has yet to sign anybody,
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: it just it's just like, okay, it's it's hard to
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: swallow that when you see your you know, little brother
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: over here doing a pretty good job.
- 1:27:43Speaker 4: Great.
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, he's he's doing a pretty good job.
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: But yeah, he is doing a great job. So congratulations
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: to Pat Kelsey. That's that's hard to hard to fathom
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: right there where people were really up in arms about him.
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: And man, he brings in three key players to.
- 1:27:58Speaker 4: U of L.
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: So did you read the Eric text? Did I read
- 1:28:03Speaker 3: the Eric text? I'm not sure what you're talking about?
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: Heys?
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: Oh wait, oh well yeah, I did not see that.
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: Hey guys Eric from Denver, thank you. Uh, NBA playoffs underway.
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: Where's your loyalty? SGA and the Thunder or Jamal and
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: the Nuggets. Let's go Nuggets? Uh well, clearly here for
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: the Nuggets. I think this is Matthew's brother, by the way,
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: our uncle. That's right, uncle. Yeah, Matthew's uncle. So oh
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: you knew that then?
- 1:28:31Speaker 4: Yeah? Okay, good once a week you should know that too.
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: Okay, well, you don't put his name up here, so
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: I'm sorry. It just I just realized that. Uh well,
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: I'll tell you right now. I'm most likely with the
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: Nuggets because I'm gonna go with Jamal Murray because of
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: the fact that SGA Shay Gildess just won one last year,
- 1:28:53Speaker 3: so he won one last year. Let's let Jamal win one. Yeah,
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: but it was last year. I'm going for Philly get
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: tyre Tyrese MAXI. Well, he asked about those two teams, So, uh,
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: if I'm for Thunder or Nuggets, who are you for?
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: I'm for the Nuggets. Okay, Now overall, I'm with you
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: right there. So Tyrese has it won one, Philadelphia. I'm
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: sure they've won one, but it's probably been years. But
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: Tyrese has it won one. So I'm gonna be for'm
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: Tyrese MAXI.
- 1:29:27Speaker 4: So you don't think, so, okay, Philadelphia is not good?
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: All right?
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: Did I read this one from Zach?
- 1:29:36Speaker 4: I don't.
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: I think I would take the annuity options so I
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: can't spend it all quickly, have a guaranteed paycheck for
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: thirty years. See that's the if you know yourself like that, Zach.
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: I think that's a perfect option, so that you have
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: that check every single year. They say, though, you make
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: more money if you take the one lump sum, but
- 1:29:59Speaker 3: you got invest it. And you know, most people can't
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: be that strong with himself to say I'm not going
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: to spend this money. I mean, the temptation is there
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: to spend the money. I think it's greater than it
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: is that people are going to save, so they just
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: can't work that hard to try and do that.
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: But anyway, I appreciate those messages right there.
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: I don't know if you saw this or not, but man,
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: that video of the principle taking down a gunman in Oklahoma.
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: So a gunman comes into a school in Oklahoma and
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: starts pointing at the gun at students right there at
- 1:30:39Speaker 3: the front door. A principal comes running from another through
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: another door and literally tackles him, and the vice principal
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: comes out and kicks the gun away. I mean, the
- 1:30:51Speaker 3: gunman turns to the principle. I don't know if he
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: gets a shot off or not, but he literally tackles
- 1:30:57Speaker 3: him and takes him down. I'm telling you, congrats to him.
- 1:31:02Speaker 3: I mean, my goodness, no telling because you know that happened.
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: What was that whole Columbine thing that happened years ago?
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: I mean, congrats to this vice principal. He should be
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: in a parade and everybody celebrate for what he just
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: did yesterday. What would you do in the face of
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: a gunman justin I'm telling you, I think I'm running
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: the opposite way.
- 1:31:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I would love to say that I
- 1:31:26Speaker 4: would stand up and be a hero to try to
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: save everybody else. But the end of the day, I'm
- 1:31:31Speaker 4: kind of a pansy and I'm not like, I'm not
- 1:31:35Speaker 4: gonna run towards trouble like that.
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think I am either. I mean, it's
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: just that's a scary video to watch. You see the
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: guy come in, he's pointing the gun and he turns
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: around when the principal comes out, and that principal goes
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: straight towards him and tackles him like he's a defensive lineman.
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: I mean, it was a great tackle, takes him down
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: on the couch, and then the vice principal comes out
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: just kind of kicks the gunway. It's like, dude, you
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: need to do a little more than that. But the
- 1:32:05Speaker 3: vice principal has I mean the principal has his arm
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: and hand on the guy's arm, and it was pretty amazing.
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: Are you watching it right now?
- 1:32:14Speaker 4: Yeah, that's wild.
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: That is wild stuff. Exactly what we think that Center
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: Circle video. I don't know what's.
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know what that is. They knocked it down.
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: I mean, if I'm a student walking out there seeing
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: all that, I'm probably walking where the fence was. Now
- 1:32:31Speaker 3: just to say I walked on it, I don't know.
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: It must be their crest or something for the school
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: that they haven't blocked off like that. Yeah, I know
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: that was my exact thought too. It's not that the
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: principal was saving all these kids with the gunman coming in.
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: It's like, my whole focus is what's in the center
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: there behind the fence. I mean, I couldn't believe that
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: you you thought the same thing.
- 1:32:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: Columbia Blue Jackets coach Rick Barnes calls out uh uh
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: his entire team so they were eliminated from because that
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: was the last day of soccer what in a regular season,
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: And he was quoted saying, these guys don't care. Losing
- 1:33:15Speaker 3: is not important enough to them. If I'm back, we're
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: changing their culture. I thought that was funny. First of all,
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: why didn't you change the culture during the season? And
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: second of all, I mean, is he going to be am?
- 1:33:30Speaker 4: I losing you? Okay? But why are you?
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: Do you like coaches calling out their teams, especially after
- 1:33:40Speaker 3: the season is over?
- 1:33:41Speaker 2: I don't that.
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: That just didn't sit well with me, that he was
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: doing something like this, are you okay?
- 1:33:47Speaker 4: All right?
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: Then? Well I totally lost you for a minute.
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: But anyway, I do not like seeing coaches calling out
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: players are calling their entirest team. I think it's not
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: it's not a cool thing to do. Let me get
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: back to the text line one more time. Uh, you
- 1:34:05Speaker 3: do know, I got that one. I don't like to
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: see a PE logo, by the way, it's just one
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: thing that's driving me crazy. So the fact that they
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: changed it and did something like this, I think it's
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: the more ridiculous thing. The last story I do want
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: to talk about today is this whole thing with If
- 1:34:20Speaker 3: you haven't seen it, it's a really heartfelt story about
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: a mom who just lost her son to multiple sclerosis.
- 1:34:30Speaker 3: And she lost her son about three years ago. Is
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: everything okay? Yeah, Troy came in. Big Boss. Oh, oh, Big.
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: Boss is walking in my door. I'm sorry about this show, Michael.
- 1:34:40Speaker 4: I've got to, yeah, speak with him for a couple
- 1:34:42Speaker 4: of minutes.
- 1:34:43Speaker 3: I'm so glad he would do that during our show
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: when I'm trying to talk to you minsent and so
- 1:34:48Speaker 3: I don't care if it's the Big Boss or not.
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: How about doing it during after the show. But he
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: didn't employ me, So I'll say it. But I don't
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: know if you odd or not. But there was a
- 1:35:01Speaker 3: lady that bought two season tickets to the Mariners and
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: baseball has gotten her away from the loss of her son.
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: Who was I think only twenty three, twenty seven years old,
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: so he was in his mid twenties. He had multiple sclerosis,
- 1:35:20Speaker 3: and to overcome her grief, she found baseball, and so
- 1:35:24Speaker 3: she started this year. She bought season tickets, and she
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: said that she put on social media if anybody wants
- 1:35:31Speaker 3: to join me, just message me, and it's kind of
- 1:35:34Speaker 3: gone viral for and then to where the point where
- 1:35:37Speaker 3: she founds another person that she's really she really likes
- 1:35:42Speaker 3: that goes with her. So I thought that was a
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: cool story. Here she buys baseball season tickets to the
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: Seattle Mariners, and this is a way for her to
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: recover from the loss of her son.
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: I just loved the story.
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: Another reason why baseball is really I mean, I know
- 1:35:59Speaker 3: people say it's born, but it does help lots of people.
- 1:36:02Speaker 4: I'm hesitant to say this, but do we think that
- 1:36:04Speaker 4: other person is just using her for Mariner's tickets? Oh,
- 1:36:08Speaker 4: I'm sure all the people are.
- 1:36:10Speaker 3: But then once they get to know this lady, they
- 1:36:12Speaker 3: probably yeah, definitely, But I'm sure she uses it to
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: have people come and join her be friends.
- 1:36:18Speaker 4: I'm okay with that.
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: You don't like that people are using her, they still
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: have to buy the ticket, I think they have to
- 1:36:24Speaker 3: pay like seventy six dollars for the tickettcha, So you're
- 1:36:27Speaker 3: still paying for the ticket, but you're going with this
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: lady to go to sit in a pretty good seat.
- 1:36:33Speaker 4: All right?
- 1:36:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, didn't you use a couple of people
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: yesterday to go see the Reds play?
- 1:36:40Speaker 4: Yeah, but they also used people to go see the
- 1:36:42Speaker 4: rest play. So is that their season tickets? By the way,
- 1:36:45Speaker 4: So John got him from his daughter's work. Oh she Oh? Really?
- 1:36:50Speaker 4: So he used his daughter then I and him?
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess, well that's why you have kids, so
- 1:36:55Speaker 3: that they get better seats at the games.
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: And yeah, so I'm with you right there.
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: Okay, Well, uh and they were good to Does she
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: live up in Cincinnati?
- 1:37:03Speaker 4: Is that what she does?
- 1:37:05Speaker 6: No?
- 1:37:06Speaker 2: Where's the company?
- 1:37:07Speaker 4: Great question here in Louisville, I guess.
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: Oh, and they have season tickets to the Reds. Well,
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: good for them.
- 1:37:13Speaker 3: So well, I'm hoping we'll be talking tomorrow about what
- 1:37:16Speaker 3: the big news is at Churchill Down's and and more
- 1:37:19Speaker 3: about what the plans are on this whole arena, and
- 1:37:22Speaker 3: then maybe one of these days we'll talk about some
- 1:37:25Speaker 3: transfers coming into UK basketball. I don't know what's going
- 1:37:28Speaker 3: to happen here? So anyway, all right, everybody, have a
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: great day. I'll see you tomorrow eight o'clock on Justic Caatz.
- 1:37:34Speaker 3: By your taxes,
