- 0:20Speaker 1: And welcome to Jags AM. From the Grove in London,
- 0:24Speaker 1: we call this the Hyundai Library, right? Our version of
- 0:29Speaker 1: exactly where we are inside the library that we have
- 0:32Speaker 1: been here for a couple years now. And I've joked,
- 0:34Speaker 1: and I'm not that far off, am I? It was
- 0:36Speaker 1: Professor Green in the library with a candlestick. You never
- 0:41Speaker 1: played Clue?
- 0:41Speaker 2: Well, absolutely.
- 0:42Speaker 1: He was Cam Whittle, actually.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Okay.
- 0:44Speaker 1: It was Cam Little. Cam Little yesterday. Yeah, with a
- 0:48Speaker 1: swinging foot. By the way, listen, I'm sure your phones
- 0:51Speaker 1: blew up just like mine did yesterday.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I had 80 text messages in a matter of one minute.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Well, that is amazing.
- 0:58Speaker 2: It was ridiculous.
- 1:00Speaker 1: And how many people had said to you, have you
- 1:02Speaker 1: ever seen anything like that? And the answer is, you haven't.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Because that was the first game in NFL history where
- 1:09Speaker 1: you had two go-ahead scores in the final 10 seconds
- 1:13Speaker 1: of regulation.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Amazing. And we were actually talking about it a little
- 1:18Speaker 2: bit after the game, and we thought that that was
- 1:21Speaker 2: the greatest last-second win in Jaguars history. I mean, you
- 1:25Speaker 2: put it right up there with a Morton Anderson miss,
- 1:27Speaker 2: and then there's a game in Baltimore.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Baltimore, 1996. Way back. Yeah. Listen, it was a spectacular
- 1:35Speaker 1: finish to the game. It didn't always feel like it
- 1:37Speaker 1: was going to be a spectacular finish, John. It felt
- 1:40Speaker 1: uneven for a lot of that bowl game.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Yeah. In terms of unlikely, it felt also there was
- 1:44Speaker 3: a game we talked about last night, Brian, in 2015.
- 1:46Speaker 3: That was also a Baltimore. Had a sack and a
- 1:50Speaker 3: face mask got it. But the difference was that team
- 1:52Speaker 3: wasn't very good.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:54Speaker 3: To have this happen with a really good team where
- 1:57Speaker 3: you know it's going to or you feel like it's
- 1:59Speaker 3: going to matter. People will remember this one because of
- 2:04Speaker 3: the ramification long after they remember the one I'm talking about.
- 2:09Speaker 3: And again, Jeff, you know, maybe not on par with
- 2:12Speaker 3: Morton because of what that meant franchise, but it's on
- 2:16Speaker 3: the Rushmore.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it certainly is. And it's so, it's irrelevant because
- 2:20Speaker 1: it's so recent and people will remember this one for
- 2:22Speaker 1: a very long time. So let's get to our big things.
- 2:24Speaker 1: The three big things that we have for you about
- 2:26Speaker 1: yesterday's game. Perfect is number one. It wasn't a perfect
- 2:30Speaker 1: game as we just said, but the ending of the
- 2:31Speaker 1: ball game fellas was perfectly executed by the Jaguars. And
- 2:36Speaker 1: to listen to the head coach, to the special teams coordinator,
- 2:39Speaker 1: Keith Farwell, and, And guys that you've talked to, Amir
- 2:42Speaker 1: Abdullah and Logan Cook and Devon Hamilton, the execution phase
- 2:46Speaker 1: of what they wanted to do came off perfectly.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Yeah, it was fantastic. And, you know, there's actually a
- 2:51Speaker 2: drill that the offense and the team does during the
- 2:54Speaker 2: course of weeks in preparation, and it's called the Rolex drill,
- 2:58Speaker 2: to where they actually work on being aware of what
- 3:01Speaker 2: the game clock and where it's at so that they
- 3:03Speaker 2: can get down and give themselves up, if need be,
- 3:06Speaker 2: to be able to have an opportunity at a field goal.
- 3:09Speaker 2: And so Amir Abdullah, he said he was running and
- 3:12Speaker 2: he's looking for a game clock. Took him a minute
- 3:14Speaker 2: to find it. And then he says, I'm starting to
- 3:16Speaker 2: go down. And he goes, I was wondering, do I
- 3:19Speaker 2: give myself up? Do I need to get tackled? He
- 3:21Speaker 2: was a little confused on that. But he went down. Literally,
- 3:24Speaker 2: he hit the ground at two seconds. I mean, just
- 3:27Speaker 2: great awareness. And to me, that's coaching. Coaching matters.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It's coaching.
- 3:32Speaker 3: And he's also a veteran who has been in it
- 3:35Speaker 3: 12 years. Jeff, you played, probably his mind is able
- 3:40Speaker 3: to work a little calmer than had that been a
- 3:42Speaker 3: rookie who, you know, is a different personality type. Look,
- 3:49Speaker 3: at that moment with eight seconds left, there was one
- 3:52Speaker 3: way to win that game, right?
- 3:54Speaker 1: Only one.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Yeah, there wasn't a whole lot of options, and everything
- 3:57Speaker 3: had to go perfectly.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Yeah, and all the credit in the world has got
- 4:02Speaker 2: to go to Cam Little and Logan Cook and Devon Hamilton. And, look,
- 4:06Speaker 2: I mean, you've got Ross Matysik on the first punt coverage,
- 4:09Speaker 2: ends up diving out of bounds, looks like his shoulder
- 4:12Speaker 2: pops out, he can't go, and so now Devon Hamilton
- 4:15Speaker 2: has to do it again.
- 4:15Speaker 1: He's done it before.
- 4:17Speaker 2: And the snaps were anything but perfect, and Logan did
- 4:20Speaker 2: a great job on all the field goal extra point
- 4:23Speaker 2: tries with the exception of one. He said he got
- 4:25Speaker 2: a little bit too much tilt on the ball, but
- 4:27Speaker 2: still he caught it. And on the last one, Devon
- 4:30Speaker 2: saved his best snap for last at the most critical moment.
- 4:34Speaker 2: And what impresses me is that after all of the
- 4:37Speaker 2: errant snaps, is that the kicker was able to maintain
- 4:41Speaker 2: a level of focus and concentration like nothing had ever happened.
- 4:44Speaker 2: It was no big deal.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Liam Cohen said just as much in his postgame yesterday
- 4:49Speaker 1: at Tottenham Stadium.
- 4:51Speaker 4: The kickoff return happens, and you got one second on
- 4:53Speaker 4: the clock, and before they iced him, it was probably
- 4:56Speaker 4: Deham's best snap of the day.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Right?
- 4:59Speaker 5: I mean, he put it right on the button. I'm like, oh, man,
- 5:01Speaker 5: here we go. Competitive greatness. Being at your best when
- 5:03Speaker 5: your best is required. Here we go. And then snap
- 5:07Speaker 5: goes up. Logan puts it down.
- 5:09Speaker 4: And then, you know, arguably one of the most talented
- 5:11Speaker 4: guys in the league, you know, comes up with a
- 5:13Speaker 4: clutch kick and a clutch moment.
- 5:14Speaker 5: So, yeah, it was to deserve to win. You know,
- 5:17Speaker 5: who knows?
- 5:18Speaker 4: Got to go watch the tape. But proud of this group.
- 5:23Speaker 1: You know, John, you and I were sitting, I think,
- 5:24Speaker 1: about the 35-yard line yesterday at Tottenham behind– where Cam
- 5:29Speaker 1: attempted the kick, and I saw him running the other way.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I didn't realize that he didn't even see the kick
- 5:35Speaker 1: go through the uprights. I saw that through the magic
- 5:37Speaker 1: of social media today. He kicked it, just saw that
- 5:40Speaker 1: it was good, just enough on track, and then turned
- 5:43Speaker 1: and ran to the Philly fans in the end zone.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess you run for two reasons. Either if
- 5:47Speaker 3: you miss it, you want to get out of there.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 5:49Speaker 3: But I thought out of a myriad of cool moments,
- 5:53Speaker 3: and there were a lot of great stories yesterday– Cam's joy,
- 5:59Speaker 3: and he grew up a soccer fan. He talked about
- 6:02Speaker 3: it seven or eight minutes after the game with the media.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Just his joy and the joy that he always brings
- 6:09Speaker 3: to it. Sometimes we talk about this game so much,
- 6:14Speaker 3: and we analyze, and we're trying to figure out the edge,
- 6:17Speaker 3: as they say. Sometimes you forget that it's kids playing
- 6:20Speaker 3: a game, and he really embraced that, embraced the moment.
- 6:25Speaker 3: For old guys like us, Jeff, that's kind of cool
- 6:27Speaker 3: to see, right?
- 6:28Speaker 2: Well, I wouldn't call them kids. Right. I mean, you know,
- 6:31Speaker 2: we kind of look at them.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Well, Cam's 23, 24.
- 6:32Speaker 1: I mean. Yeah, he's a young guy.
- 6:34Speaker 2: He's a young guy. But I think what is impressive
- 6:37Speaker 2: about Cam is that he's just got this demeanor about him.
- 6:41Speaker 2: And Heath Farwell, I was talking to him before the game,
- 6:44Speaker 2: and I was like, you know, and we actually had
- 6:46Speaker 2: the conversation about how fortunate he is to have, you know,
- 6:49Speaker 2: a holder, snapper, kicker that are so talented. And he
- 6:52Speaker 2: said to me before the game, he says, Cam Little's
- 6:55Speaker 2: a killer. I mean, that's the exact terms he used
- 6:58Speaker 2: to me.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Stone cold killer.
- 6:59Speaker 2: And so I said to him, I said, look, I said,
- 7:01Speaker 2: in today's game, okay, every field has a different vibe
- 7:05Speaker 2: and you feel different levels of comfort from where the
- 7:08Speaker 2: kicks are going to go from. I said, where is
- 7:10Speaker 2: he comfortable at? He said, anywhere within this logo. And
- 7:13Speaker 2: if you remember, the field there at Tottenham had the
- 7:15Speaker 2: big NFL shield in the middle. And so when Amir
- 7:18Speaker 2: Abdullah goes down and I see Logan Cook setting up
- 7:21Speaker 2: on the logo, and I was like, As long as
- 7:24Speaker 2: the snap is good, Stone Cold Killer is going.
- 7:28Speaker 3: To nail it. I'm sorry, Brian. He mentioned something in
- 7:31Speaker 3: the postgame that was interesting, too. He was talking to
- 7:34Speaker 3: the British media about soccer a little bit, about technique.
- 7:38Speaker 3: But he sort of mentioned that he is not necessarily
- 7:42Speaker 3: a huge have-to-do-the-same-thing-every-time. You have to, he said. But he's
- 7:48Speaker 3: not quite as much of that as maybe some younger
- 7:51Speaker 3: kickers are. It leads me to think he can adapt,
- 7:55Speaker 3: and yesterday with timing on the snap, he very much
- 8:00Speaker 3: had to adapt. He couldn't just be a machine out there.
- 8:03Speaker 3: He sort of had to adapt what was going on.
- 8:06Speaker 3: He's more of a football player maybe than a kicker.
- 8:09Speaker 1: A footballer, as they say in England. Big thing, too,
- 8:12Speaker 1: uh-oh line. Obviously, Anton Harrison is undergoing some imaging here
- 8:17Speaker 1: in England today for his knee. That's one uh-oh. The
- 8:21Speaker 1: other is that they really struggled on the inside, both
- 8:24Speaker 1: with the noise level in a key moment of the ballgame.
- 8:28Speaker 1: More importantly, with number 98 for the Eagles, Jalen Carter.
- 8:30Speaker 1: He gave them fits, and the head coach talked a
- 8:34Speaker 1: little bit about that when he met with the media
- 8:36Speaker 1: here earlier today.
- 8:43Speaker 4: I thought those guys responded well in the second half.
- 8:46Speaker 4: I mean, I thought Jalen Carter was kind of wrecking
- 8:49Speaker 4: shop a little bit in the first half. He made
- 8:51Speaker 4: some really fantastic individual efforts that we knew, you know,
- 8:58Speaker 4: some of his swims and stuff were pretty challenging. And
- 9:02Speaker 4: so he made some plays. I thought we handled him
- 9:05Speaker 4: and the front better in the second half. You know, protection-wise,
- 9:09Speaker 4: for the most part of the day, I didn't think
- 9:12Speaker 4: it was too bad. Like, we held down the ball
- 9:14Speaker 4: a little bit long on a few when we did get–
- 9:16Speaker 4: the strip sacks, and I thought we just settled down
- 9:21Speaker 4: a little bit more in the second half as a group.
- 9:27Speaker 3: You choose.
- 9:27Speaker 1: You want to talk about Carter or you want to
- 9:28Speaker 1: talk about where the offensive line goes with potentially losing
- 9:31Speaker 1: Anton Harrison for some period of time?
- 9:33Speaker 2: We'll start with Jalen Carter. I thought there were three
- 9:36Speaker 2: guys for the Eagles that played exceptional. It was Ball
- 9:38Speaker 2: and the linebacker, Cooper Dejean, the nickel slash corner. Last safety,
- 9:43Speaker 2: he does everything. And then Jalen Carter at defensive tackle.
- 9:45Speaker 2: And there's a reason why he makes $ 38 million a year,
- 9:48Speaker 2: which is the highest paid defensive tackle in football. And
- 9:52Speaker 2: the week prior against the Rams, watching him on film,
- 9:54Speaker 2: he was not as effective. He had a cast because
- 9:57Speaker 2: he's got, I guess, a hairline fracture of his wrist.
- 10:00Speaker 2: And the cast made him a little bit timid. And
- 10:03Speaker 2: he comes out for this game against the Jaguars. And
- 10:06Speaker 2: I didn't see the cast.
- 10:07Speaker 3: And I went, oh, he wasn't timid.
- 10:10Speaker 2: And he was not timid. He played like he had
- 10:12Speaker 2: nothing wrong with his wrist. He was a dominant player
- 10:15Speaker 2: in that game. And And he took turns beating guys.
- 10:18Speaker 2: He beat Ezra. He beat Cole. He beat Pregnant. I mean,
- 10:22Speaker 2: it was just he was beating everybody.
- 10:23Speaker 1: He's that good.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Yeah, my understanding is after the first half, Ezra did
- 10:27Speaker 3: a nice job of sort of getting back in it
- 10:30Speaker 3: and at least allowing them to neutralize him a little
- 10:34Speaker 3: bit or survive it, I guess you will. Because sometimes
- 10:37Speaker 3: in this league, when you're playing a guy like this, again,
- 10:40Speaker 3: there's a reason that he's what he is. He beats you.
- 10:45Speaker 3: even if you're good, he can beat you. So I
- 10:47Speaker 3: thought it was a game where the Jaguars, against a
- 10:51Speaker 3: difficult matchup like that, figured out a way to survive it, Jeff.
- 10:55Speaker 3: And that's sometimes what you have to do in this league.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Exactly, and try to get as many hands on a
- 10:59Speaker 2: guy like that as you can. But, I mean, look,
- 11:01Speaker 2: Jalen Carter, he's up there with Reggie White, Bruce Smith.
- 11:06Speaker 2: He's the definition of what he'll beat. Yeah, the consistency
- 11:09Speaker 2: for the period of time that Reggie and Bruce have,
- 11:12Speaker 2: Jalen Carter hasn't done that, but the way he plays
- 11:14Speaker 2: right now, he's at that level. He's an elite player.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Archer, how do you overcome the potential loss? We don't
- 11:20Speaker 1: know yet on Anton Harrison, but it's safe to think
- 11:22Speaker 1: that he might miss at least this next game and
- 11:25Speaker 1: maybe some time beyond that. Walker Little steps in. He's
- 11:28Speaker 1: played a lot of football for you at a couple
- 11:29Speaker 1: of different positions. How do you feel about where the
- 11:31Speaker 1: line is?
- 11:31Speaker 2: Well, first of all, with Anton, watching that replay in
- 11:36Speaker 2: the monitor, it didn't look good. And I don't want
- 11:39Speaker 2: to speculate, but I've seen that kind.
- 11:42Speaker 6: Of move before.
- 11:42Speaker 1: You've had that injury yourself.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think it's going to end well. And
- 11:48Speaker 2: Anton was a guy that was progressing towards, okay, leave
- 11:52Speaker 2: him one-on-one. You feel like he can block almost anybody.
- 11:56Speaker 2: And I don't know if you have that level of
- 11:58Speaker 2: comfort with Walker Little or not. I would say no.
- 12:01Speaker 2: So I think as a coordinator, as a game planner,
- 12:04Speaker 2: as a schemer, you've got to do things a little
- 12:07Speaker 2: bit differently because if you see a top-end player cross
- 12:11Speaker 2: from your left tackle, you have to approach it differently
- 12:14Speaker 2: with Anton not in the lineup.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Yeah, you've got to help him a little bit. Anton
- 12:19Speaker 3: has been playing pretty well the last few weeks and
- 12:21Speaker 3: getting a lot better. I get questions all the time.
- 12:26Speaker 3: In the offseason, why don't you trade player X? Why
- 12:29Speaker 3: don't you trade player Y? Got that question a lot
- 12:31Speaker 3: about Walker Little. This is why, when you're a contending team,
- 12:36Speaker 3: that you keep good players. Because, look, he's not as
- 12:38Speaker 3: good as Anton Harrison, or he would be starting. But
- 12:41Speaker 3: he's got a lot of reps, and you can trust
- 12:44Speaker 3: him more than you could a normal backup. It's good
- 12:48Speaker 3: to have depth, Jeff.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Let's wrap up big things with this. I started with 19.
- 12:52Speaker 1: which was the number of points the Jaguars surrendered in
- 12:54Speaker 1: the fourth quarter last year in Houston, which is just
- 12:57Speaker 1: a little bit of flavor for Sunday's game. But I
- 13:00Speaker 1: decided to start today, on Monday, with 25, which is
- 13:04Speaker 1: the number of rushing yards the Jaguars have allowed in
- 13:07Speaker 1: their last two games. One of just seven teams in
- 13:10Speaker 1: the Super Bowl era to hold two teams back-to-back to
- 13:15Speaker 1: 25 rushing yards or fewer. The last team to do
- 13:17Speaker 1: it was Baltimore in 2019. In other words, it doesn't
- 13:20Speaker 1: happen very often. They're playing at a very high level...
- 13:22Speaker 1: And on Sunday, they get a Houston team that's averaging
- 13:25Speaker 1: less than 58 rushing yards per game.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Yeah, and you've got to give credit. You start, I think,
- 13:30Speaker 2: with Devon Hamilton and how well he's playing up front.
- 13:32Speaker 2: But then you have two defensive ends that arguably are
- 13:36Speaker 2: the two best run defending defensive ends in football in
- 13:39Speaker 2: Trayvon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen. And if you look at
- 13:43Speaker 2: the stat sheet, there probably wasn't a number that you went, wow,
- 13:45Speaker 2: Josh Hines-Allen, look at all the numbers that he had.
- 13:48Speaker 2: He played. A monster game against the run and as
- 13:52Speaker 2: a pass rusher. Kudos to 41, man. He worked his
- 13:56Speaker 2: tail off in that game.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't care who's playing running back. Holding a
- 14:00Speaker 3: team to less than 25 yards in the NFL is unbelievable.
- 14:05Speaker 3: We've said it all along, meaning all along since camp
- 14:08Speaker 3: got here, stopping the run is the key to it.
- 14:10Speaker 3: They were good last year. They're dominant right now. When you...
- 14:16Speaker 3: see another team run for four or five yards on
- 14:19Speaker 3: this team right now, you're thinking, what went wrong? And
- 14:22Speaker 3: that's good run defense in the NFL right now. It's
- 14:25Speaker 3: so key, guys, to when you stop a team for
- 14:29Speaker 3: two yards on first down, you're facing second and eight.
- 14:31Speaker 3: The difference in this league right now between that and
- 14:34Speaker 3: second and five is so big. It's the key to everything.
- 14:37Speaker 3: It's why they have so many turnovers. It's why they're
- 14:39Speaker 3: so good defensively. This is an elite, elite, I'm going
- 14:42Speaker 3: to say generational. We're not there yet. But in the
- 14:44Speaker 3: last four or five years, this is as good as
- 14:46Speaker 3: any team's played to run.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Yeah, and let me mention Ventrell Miller because, you know,
- 14:52Speaker 2: there was a lot of conversation about how do you
- 14:53Speaker 2: replace Devin Lloyd in the offseason, and I think he
- 14:58Speaker 2: got a linebacker at the will position now that's playing
- 15:01Speaker 2: to run better than Devin Lloyd. I mean, there was
- 15:03Speaker 2: one particular play, and I'll never forget the center's coming out,
- 15:06Speaker 2: and Ventrell Miller comes up and just smacks him right
- 15:10Speaker 2: under the chin. And he kind of stumbles back. You
- 15:14Speaker 2: could see the center's reaction. He was almost like a
- 15:17Speaker 2: fighter that just got a KO punch. He kind of
- 15:20Speaker 2: stumbles back. He's like, how can that little guy just
- 15:22Speaker 2: knock me back like that? And then he comes up
- 15:24Speaker 2: and Ventrell just throws the guy aside and then comes
- 15:27Speaker 2: up and makes a hit for a gain of like
- 15:29Speaker 2: a half a yard. I mean, how many linebackers in
- 15:31Speaker 2: the league can smash an offensive lineman in the face,
- 15:34Speaker 2: throw him aside, and then make a tackle at a
- 15:36Speaker 2: half of a yard? Not many.
- 15:38Speaker 3: So many people want to talk about what this defense isn't,
- 15:41Speaker 3: talk about the pass rush, whatever. It's not a bad
- 15:44Speaker 3: pass rush. Let's worry about what they are, which is
- 15:47Speaker 3: really good.
- 15:47Speaker 1: All right. Those are your big things brought to you
- 15:49Speaker 1: by GEHA, Government Employees Health Association. This is Jags AM
- 15:56Speaker 1: from the Grove outside of London. When we return, we'll
- 15:59Speaker 1: get these guys' perspective on some highlights from Sunday's victory
- 16:02Speaker 1: over the Philadelphia Eagles. All that and more straight ahead.
- 16:13Speaker 7: Hey everyone, Scott Hanson from NFL Red Zone here with
- 16:16Speaker 7: Lowe's to help you earn your Sunday. Nothing beats having
- 16:20Speaker 7: a roster of tools to help you get the job done.

- 18:16Speaker 1: Welcome back to Jags AM. You've seen the highlights. Probably
- 18:20Speaker 1: seen them all over social media, but you haven't heard
- 18:22Speaker 1: John and Jeff give you their perspective on what they
- 18:26Speaker 1: saw yesterday at Tottenham Stadium. So let's start with the
- 18:30Speaker 1: opening kickoff. I was looking down at something when the
- 18:33Speaker 1: ball was kicked. I didn't see this. The next thing
- 18:35Speaker 1: I look up, and there goes Josh Cameron, and then
- 18:40Speaker 1: in the near ground is Trotter and Brian Thomas Jr.
- 18:44Speaker 1: I Branson Combs is holding here?
- 18:47Speaker 2: It was a terrible call on Branson Combs. The defensive
- 18:51Speaker 2: lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles is power-pushing Branson Combs and
- 18:56Speaker 2: just bullrushes him and knocks him over. There was no
- 18:59Speaker 2: hold involved at all. Now, the offsetting penalties, that's legitimate
- 19:04Speaker 2: with Brian Thomas Jr. and Jeremiah Trotter Jr., But, yeah,
- 19:09Speaker 2: it was crazy. But a very bad call. You know,
- 19:12Speaker 2: that's two bad calls in a row because Quentin Morris
- 19:14Speaker 2: got a kick return that was called that from a hold,
- 19:17Speaker 2: and that was a bad call.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I'll tell you what I was thinking, John, is, uh-oh.
- 19:20Speaker 1: This is an omen from the beginning. The opening kickoff
- 19:23Speaker 1: for the Jags is a success in that it isn't.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Well, think about what they overcame yesterday. Two red zone,
- 19:30Speaker 3: not scoring, this taken away. The Jaguars outplayed this team
- 19:35Speaker 3: for the most part. Didn't get the break. Josh Cameron
- 19:39Speaker 3: is really, really good and might be one of their
- 19:43Speaker 3: best players on offense right now. He's a good player.
- 19:47Speaker 2: He's dead on. i mean you can't say enough about
- 19:50Speaker 2: josh cameron because there's nothing that's too big for him
- 19:54Speaker 2: and that's very rare to find with a rookie and a.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Sixth round pick as well we're not talking about you.
- 19:59Speaker 3: You can take off all the qualifiers For two or
- 20:02Speaker 3: three weeks I've been saying, well, he's really good for
- 20:03Speaker 3: a six-round pick, really good for a rookie.
- 20:05Speaker 2: No, he's really good no matter where he was selected.
- 20:08Speaker 2: The only thing that he doesn't have, can you imagine
- 20:10Speaker 2: if he had great speed?
- 20:11Speaker 1: Well, then he would have been a first-round pick.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Holy cow.
- 20:14Speaker 1: The only reason I qualify it as a six-round pick
- 20:16Speaker 1: is the expectation for him to come in and contribute
- 20:19Speaker 1: his first year would be lower than someone who was
- 20:21Speaker 1: taken on day one or even day two.
- 20:23Speaker 2: How about the pass that he caught crossing the middle
- 20:26Speaker 2: of the field in what might have been the smallest
- 20:29Speaker 2: window that Trevor had all day?
- 20:31Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 20:31Speaker 2: With two defenders, and Josh doesn't even, it's like it
- 20:35Speaker 2: doesn't phase him at all.
- 20:37Speaker 1: So let's go to the third quarter, and this is
- 20:41Speaker 1: a Cam Littlefield goal. It's the first one where he
- 20:44Speaker 1: is going to be kicking from the hold of Logan Cook,
- 20:46Speaker 1: but the snap of Devon Hamilton. He makes this one. Okay,
- 20:58Speaker 1: trust me, he makes this one, right? We got the
- 21:01Speaker 1: indicator there that it was going to be high. We
- 21:03Speaker 1: saw the athleticism and the instincts and the value of
- 21:07Speaker 1: having a guy like Logan Cook to be able to
- 21:09Speaker 1: manage that process.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Yeah, years ago, and John, you'll know, longtime special teams
- 21:14Speaker 2: coordinator Joe DeCamillis told me, said that Logan Cook is
- 21:20Speaker 2: the best holder in the National Football League. And at
- 21:24Speaker 2: the time, I'm like, well, does it really matter that much? Well,
- 21:28Speaker 2: it does, and this was the perfect game to illustrate that.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Yeah, it's– I don't know– and I even lost sight
- 21:34Speaker 3: of it yesterday. Backup long snapper. I was saying, well,
- 21:38Speaker 3: what are they doing? Why are they going for it?
- 21:40Speaker 3: You know, wondered what Liam was thinking in the moment.
- 21:44Speaker 3: And then, you know, oh, that's right. Backup long snapper
- 21:47Speaker 3: makes it really difficult. The op, as Liam said, is
- 21:51Speaker 3: so difficult when you have the long snapper. Any points
- 21:55Speaker 3: you get when you have the backup long snapper– I'm
- 21:58Speaker 3: not going to say it's bonus, but they're difficult and
- 22:00Speaker 3: they're hard-earned. And credit to them for getting it yesterday.
- 22:03Speaker 2: I wonder, are they not going to start working on
- 22:06Speaker 2: another backup long snapper? Because I remember when I was
- 22:10Speaker 2: playing in New York, they asked me to be an
- 22:13Speaker 2: emergency backup long snapper. Why not ask Porkisher or Tanner Koziel?
- 22:19Speaker 2: Just to have another guy kind of waiting in the
- 22:21Speaker 2: wings that may be better than Devon Hamilton. Because what
- 22:23Speaker 2: would have happened if Devon Hamilton... was knocked out of
- 22:26Speaker 2: that game.
- 22:27Speaker 3: I mean, I think they said, uh, linebacker, um, I'm
- 22:30Speaker 3: drawing a blank. Liam talked about it in the podium. Uh, no, uh, new, uh, yeah,
- 22:37Speaker 3: I think so.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Oh, that's right. He would, he mentioned that he might be.
- 22:40Speaker 3: So, um, it's, it's funny whenever they're asked about it.
- 22:45Speaker 3: And I asked him on this, on the ozone podcast
- 22:47Speaker 3: last year, after he had snapped against Tennessee, well, how
- 22:50Speaker 3: much do you work at? And then can I say, well,
- 22:52Speaker 3: a little bit during walkthrough, occasionally it, It's not something
- 22:55Speaker 3: you rep a lot, but maybe you have to.
- 22:57Speaker 2: He told me, okay, he told me yesterday after the game.
- 23:00Speaker 2: I asked him directly, how many reps did you have
- 23:04Speaker 2: during the week to get ready to be a short
- 23:07Speaker 2: and long snapper? His answer, none.
- 23:11Speaker 1: And I asked him right after that, if you recall,
- 23:12Speaker 1: what was your heart rate like at that moment? He goes,
- 23:14Speaker 1: it was fine.
- 23:15Speaker 2: It was chill.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Yeah, it was chill.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Devon's always going to be cool now.
- 23:18Speaker 1: No, no, he is. So let's skip ahead a little bit,
- 23:20Speaker 1: and let's go to the third quarter. And the Jaguars
- 23:24Speaker 1: got to the goal line or near it on a
- 23:26Speaker 1: beautiful 27-yard throw, right? I mean, beautiful because Trevor is
- 23:31Speaker 1: running up out of the pocket to his left now.
- 23:34Speaker 1: And the right-handed quarterback threaded the needle perfectly. And the
- 23:36Speaker 1: Jaguars get the ball down there first and goal. They've
- 23:38Speaker 1: got an opportunity here to do something. And then they're
- 23:41Speaker 1: backed up. On that drive, five penalties. Five penalties on
- 23:45Speaker 1: one drive. And, well, let's just let the film, as
- 23:49Speaker 1: they say, show you the reaction by the quarterbacks. I
- 24:01Speaker 1: think maybe I've thrown something at them that has the
- 24:04Speaker 1: production crew at home slamming the football down. Like, why
- 24:06Speaker 1: is Sexton doing that? You've all seen it. And that
- 24:10Speaker 1: was just the anger, the level of just disgust, John,
- 24:13Speaker 1: in the quarterback's response.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, they were frustrated because they had been,
- 24:19Speaker 3: they had 408 yards of offense. They were inside the
- 24:22Speaker 3: five twice. They were moving the ball, just couldn't close
- 24:26Speaker 3: the door. And they knew it was a big moment.
- 24:30Speaker 3: You're down by four.
- 24:31Speaker 1: It's crucial.
- 24:33Speaker 3: Some people criticize Trevor for not caring enough. It's always
- 24:35Speaker 3: been a ridiculous criticism. Look, that's a frustrating moment for
- 24:39Speaker 3: a quarterback because they know how important the moment is.
- 24:42Speaker 1: That was Mahomes' ask right there.
- 24:44Speaker 2: I'm just telling you, as mad as Liam Cohen was
- 24:48Speaker 2: in that situation, I'll bet you, I'll bet you dinner, Okay.
- 24:53Speaker 2: With a really nice bottle of wine. Okay. Here in London.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Okay.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Johnny, you want a part of this too? As far as.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Okay.
- 24:59Speaker 2: He'll just tag along. Okay. I'll bet you that Liam
- 25:03Speaker 2: Cohen was inside going, I love the emotion out of
- 25:07Speaker 2: my quarterback in that moment. I mean, because, you know,
- 25:10Speaker 2: he's been trying to work with Trevor about the leadership
- 25:12Speaker 2: and being a little bit more demonstrative. And that's exactly
- 25:15Speaker 2: what you like to see.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Nobody was mad as me on the next play when
- 25:17Speaker 1: he had to sail it out of the back of
- 25:18Speaker 1: the end zone. They had two first and goals that
- 25:21Speaker 1: they walk away with no points. Listen, the odds of
- 25:23Speaker 1: you winning when you miss a red zone opportunity to
- 25:27Speaker 1: score points is dramatically lower.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Twice. Unbelievably.
- 25:32Speaker 1: But first and goal at the one and you don't score?
- 25:34Speaker 2: I'm just telling you. How did one of them get
- 25:37Speaker 2: set up? Brenton Strange trying to dive, right? If you
- 25:40Speaker 2: go back, watch that play. What happens if Brenton just
- 25:43Speaker 2: cuts back to the inside?
- 25:45Speaker 1: He scores.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Touchdown.
- 25:48Speaker 1: All right, so let's get to the Jaguars scoring here
- 25:49Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter. Fourth down and five. Kudos to
- 25:53Speaker 1: the defense. They came up with a huge stop. Third down,
- 25:56Speaker 1: pardon me, three and out, and they have to punt.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Jags get the ball back, and they drive, but they
- 26:01Speaker 1: come up against the stone wall that had at times
- 26:03Speaker 1: been that Eagles defense. And on fourth and five, the
- 26:07Speaker 1: throw has gotten a lot of accolades today. The catch,
- 26:10Speaker 1: even more rightfully so. But the situation, fourth down and five,
- 26:14Speaker 1: and the offensive line, as we'll see here, Look at
- 26:16Speaker 1: the time that Trevor has to throw against a five-man rush.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a great pocket. And look, Vic Fangio,
- 26:22Speaker 2: I think, did a really good job, for the most part,
- 26:24Speaker 2: of dialing up what he needed to do. And man
- 26:28Speaker 2: coverage seemed to be the recipe that he wanted to
- 26:30Speaker 2: go back to. And Parker Washington did a great job
- 26:34Speaker 2: of just a subtle separation. Reek Wolin, who's a very
- 26:37Speaker 2: long corner, is very difficult to throw over. But if
- 26:41Speaker 2: you actually... look at the little two frames back he
- 26:44Speaker 2: kind of has this gentle push right in the hip
- 26:47Speaker 2: area of reek woolen that's perfect.
- 26:50Speaker 3: It's what you have to do when you're playing a
- 26:52Speaker 3: defense like this that at times is rattling you uh
- 26:56Speaker 3: maybe rattle is not the right word but they're getting
- 26:58Speaker 3: pressure and they're a great defensive front um you have
- 27:02Speaker 3: to have the moment where you get it blocked and
- 27:04Speaker 3: the quarterback has to trust it at that moment it
- 27:07Speaker 3: was a uh you know i don't say it's forgotten
- 27:12Speaker 3: But it's one of the biggest three or four plays
- 27:15Speaker 3: of this season right now because you don't win this
- 27:17Speaker 3: game without that play.
- 27:17Speaker 2: And here's the craziest thing. Parker Washington works on that
- 27:21Speaker 2: every day in practice. One-handed catches. You guys have seen it.
- 27:25Speaker 2: He literally works on one-handed catches all the time.
- 27:28Speaker 1: And boy, did it pay off. Jaguars missed the extra
- 27:31Speaker 1: point on that one. Obviously, the high snap that had
- 27:33Speaker 1: everybody on the sideline feeling a little uneasy like this
- 27:36Speaker 1: one could come back to haunt them. And it nearly did.
- 27:38Speaker 1: But before we get there, we talked about the pass rush.
- 27:41Speaker 1: It's good. It isn't. great necessarily at least not numerically
- 27:44Speaker 1: but it was on that next series the Jaguars got
- 27:47Speaker 1: the Eagles off three and out again and Jeff narrate
- 27:51Speaker 1: this for us.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Well you got pressure coming there and that's Antonio Johnson
- 27:55Speaker 2: who last year had a couple sacks and I thought
- 27:58Speaker 2: he had a an excellent game provided a lot of
- 28:01Speaker 2: leadership there in the back end and it was kind
- 28:03Speaker 2: of a race to the quarterback with him and Trayvon
- 28:05Speaker 2: Walker there and Trayvon by the way I just want
- 28:07Speaker 2: to point something out His effort on the last Eagles
- 28:12Speaker 2: drive where they went ahead was unbelievable. Unbelievable. I mean,
- 28:16Speaker 2: like a man possessed. And so give him a lot
- 28:20Speaker 2: of credit. But the defense overall on this drive, they
- 28:22Speaker 2: were just fantastic. And you just wish that the offense
- 28:24Speaker 2: was able to eat some more game clock up once
- 28:26Speaker 2: they got it.
- 28:27Speaker 1: They got it back, and it was three and out.
- 28:29Speaker 1: They have to punt. This is when you're starting to
- 28:30Speaker 1: get nervous now. Parker Washington did a really good job
- 28:34Speaker 1: on that punt return of making sure they got below
- 28:36Speaker 1: the two-minute warning so that they didn't get an extra stoppage, right?
- 28:39Speaker 1: that the Eagles didn't get a play in. And time
- 28:41Speaker 1: management was such a big part of this because if Lemon,
- 28:46Speaker 1: the rookie receiver for the Eagles, doesn't run out of bounds,
- 28:49Speaker 1: maybe the Jaguars don't even get a shot, right? But
- 28:52Speaker 1: the way that it all rolls out, here's the field
- 28:54Speaker 1: goal that electrified, absolutely electrified Tottenham Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
- 29:00Speaker 1: It was the 48-yarder from the Eagles, and Jake Elliott
- 29:03Speaker 1: thinks he's got the game winner here. From 48 yards away, John,
- 29:07Speaker 1: it seemed like a foregone conclusion.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, look, everything about our football since, we've
- 29:14Speaker 3: all been watching this or playing it forever, says the
- 29:17Speaker 3: game's over. And it wasn't.
- 29:20Speaker 7: No.
- 29:21Speaker 2: I made the comment in our radio broadcast that there's
- 29:26Speaker 2: not going to be another Heidi game. I mean, but
- 29:29Speaker 2: just because, I mean, do you think that there's no
- 29:31Speaker 2: chance that something can go right to where you win?
- 29:36Speaker 2: And it did.
- 29:37Speaker 3: There was a 1% chance.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Well, and as you said. John.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Is that what the analytics say?
- 29:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Or is it 1% or is it. something?
- 29:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:46Speaker 2: I'd love to know what it actually was. I mean,
- 29:48Speaker 2: it's got to be somewhere at 1% or below and like. 0, whatever.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Well, if anyone will know, it will be Heath Farwell.
- 29:53Speaker 1: So we'll find the Jaguars special teams coordinator when we
- 29:55Speaker 1: get off the air and ask him. However, John, you
- 29:56Speaker 1: said it. There really was only one way. Right. One
- 29:59Speaker 1: way for the Jaguars to win this game. And the
- 30:00Speaker 1: fact that they were able to do it. So let's
- 30:02Speaker 1: roll the highlight and you narrate over it. The fact
- 30:04Speaker 1: that they were able to. get this one play 35 yards.
- 30:09Speaker 3: If if the ball goes out of bounds or in
- 30:11Speaker 3: the end zone becomes a lot tougher great blocking jeff
- 30:14Speaker 3: uh everything had to happen at the same moment and
- 30:16Speaker 3: then he had to have the wherewithal and again he
- 30:19Speaker 3: was getting tackled so i don't know if you know
- 30:22Speaker 3: uh he said on the zoom call today that he
- 30:25Speaker 3: was trying to figure out whether to go down but
- 30:29Speaker 3: a great job by a heady.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Player, Jeff.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Yeah, and he set it up. He starts to the right.
- 30:34Speaker 2: He sets up his three blocks to his right or
- 30:37Speaker 2: to the outside, then he cuts back inside of that.
- 30:40Speaker 2: He's got a great double team on the inside. He's
- 30:43Speaker 2: got one man to essentially make miss, and that's the
- 30:46Speaker 2: kicker to be able to get a chance at it,
- 30:49Speaker 2: and he makes a great move on the kicker.
- 30:52Speaker 1: And did you see that When he went down, there
- 30:54Speaker 1: was an Eagles staffer, a coach, or someone from the
- 30:56Speaker 1: side of the team running out to midfield like, hey,
- 30:58Speaker 1: this one is over. I don't know whether you saw
- 31:01Speaker 1: it on your replay. Somebody had to probably go and go,
- 31:04Speaker 1: it's not.
- 31:04Speaker 2: I didn't see it because you know what I did?
- 31:06Speaker 2: As soon as he hit the ground, I turned and
- 31:08Speaker 2: looked at the clock, and I saw one second, and
- 31:11Speaker 2: then it ticked off, and I went, one second, one second,
- 31:14Speaker 2: one second.
- 31:15Speaker 3: And then you really thought, I mean, it showed you
- 31:18Speaker 3: how much the league has changed and how much Cam
- 31:19Speaker 3: Little is in our psyche. As soon as.
- 31:24Speaker 3: You saw there was one second left. I'm deleting the
- 31:28Speaker 3: first section of my story that I have to write
- 31:30Speaker 3: for the end of the game, and I'm writing that
- 31:32Speaker 3: the Jaguars win because I assumed he was going to
- 31:34Speaker 3: make it.
- 31:34Speaker 1: All right, there are your highlights and the particular insight
- 31:38Speaker 1: from John and Jeff on that. We come back, hot takes,
- 31:40Speaker 1: and a look at the AFC South straight ahead here

- 34:13Speaker 1: the Hyundai Library. Hyundai Studios, de facto as it is.
- 34:17Speaker 1: And we have hot takes for you. John, we'll start
- 34:19Speaker 1: with you.
- 34:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I went with super teams have games like this.
- 34:22Speaker 3: And I said it last week after the Bengals game.
- 34:26Speaker 3: You don't build 12-5, 13-4 seasons like this. on 12
- 34:31Speaker 3: or 13 blowouts. There are some times in this league
- 34:35Speaker 3: that you have to play and get yourself in a
- 34:38Speaker 3: situation where you're in it late. You're not always going
- 34:42Speaker 3: to blow teams out. You get in four or five
- 34:44Speaker 3: of those in a year, get three or four of those,
- 34:48Speaker 3: and now you've got a memorable season. I covered the
- 34:52Speaker 3: Colts during one of the most successful runs that any
- 34:55Speaker 3: team's ever had regular season. A lot of weird, fluky comebacks.
- 34:59Speaker 3: but they were a good organization that got themselves in
- 35:02Speaker 3: position late to win. I thought that was a very
- 35:06Speaker 3: typical kind of game, Jeff, that great teams have. Figured
- 35:10Speaker 3: out a way to win at the end. Sure, they
- 35:11Speaker 3: could have lost, but they figured out a way. They
- 35:15Speaker 3: kept themselves in it. Old Jaguars teams wouldn't have been
- 35:19Speaker 3: in it. So you keep yourself in it, and then
- 35:21Speaker 3: you figure out a way to win it.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Yeah, the old term, any given Sunday. You heard Liam
- 35:26Speaker 2: talking about that kind of repeatedly leading up to that
- 35:28Speaker 2: game and And the Eagles played well. And, you know,
- 35:31Speaker 2: we kind of went into that game, I think, not
- 35:33Speaker 2: giving the Eagles enough credit.
- 35:34Speaker 1: That's absolutely right.
- 35:35Speaker 2: Just because they had backups. But it's the NFL. It's
- 35:38Speaker 2: not college.
- 35:39Speaker 3: But don't forget, they had the Rams down the week before.
- 35:41Speaker 3: The Rams were good. And the Eagles had them down.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Ten-point lead.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Right. And they didn't have Saquon or Devontae Smith in
- 35:48Speaker 1: that situation either.
- 35:49Speaker 2: So, I mean, look, you only play the games that
- 35:53Speaker 2: you can play. And you take every win that you
- 35:55Speaker 2: can get.
- 35:56Speaker 1: And when you win it like that, with eight seconds left–
- 36:00Speaker 1: kidding me.
- 36:01Speaker 2: That's i mean to me one second left i mean
- 36:03Speaker 2: to me that's that that makes the moment you know
- 36:07Speaker 2: of the entire game i mean and there's my hot take.
- 36:10Speaker 1: I was gonna say it leads right to it go
- 36:11Speaker 1: this is why.
- 36:12Speaker 2: The nfl is number one i mean when you have
- 36:14Speaker 2: games that are like that that's the games that endear
- 36:18Speaker 2: fans to teams and fans to the sport itself And
- 36:22Speaker 2: this is a do-you-remember-when moment.
- 36:25Speaker 1: No doubt.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Okay? And, look, there's a lot of things that have
- 36:27Speaker 2: happened through the history of time, and you can kind
- 36:30Speaker 2: of go back and say, hey, look, where was I
- 36:32Speaker 2: at when Morton Anderson missed that kick? Where was I
- 36:35Speaker 2: at when this happened? You know, and it doesn't necessarily
- 36:38Speaker 2: just involve football, but it's big moments, and then you
- 36:41Speaker 2: start to relate life circumstances and moments to that big
- 36:45Speaker 2: moment that the Jaguars had. And this is what grows
- 36:49Speaker 2: your fan base to, at some point, Down the road,
- 36:51Speaker 2: you're going to look back and have all these great memories,
- 36:54Speaker 2: and it's why you support and love the team that
- 36:59Speaker 2: you love.
- 37:00Speaker 3: Well said.
- 37:00Speaker 1: I had a security guard down underneath outside the Jags
- 37:03Speaker 1: locker room as I was waiting to go in last
- 37:05Speaker 1: night say, do you have many games like this? And
- 37:07Speaker 1: I said, not that I can recall. Now I know
- 37:10Speaker 1: that I should have said to him, no, there's never
- 37:11Speaker 1: been a game like this, ever. I'm looking forward to
- 37:15Speaker 1: my hot take, and it's this one matters more. Listen.
- 37:18Speaker 1: I know they're 1-4 and they haven't played great football,
- 37:21Speaker 1: but they're coming in thinking they can beat you on
- 37:23Speaker 1: Sunday because they beat you down 19 in the fourth quarter.
- 37:27Speaker 1: These are two teams, and in an age of free
- 37:29Speaker 1: agency where guys know each other and coaches go back
- 37:32Speaker 1: and forth, I'm not sure that you have the rivalries
- 37:35Speaker 1: that you, I mean the fans, absolutely. But I really
- 37:37Speaker 1: believe in this case that the Texans think that the
- 37:40Speaker 1: AFC South is theirs and the Jaguars got them last
- 37:43Speaker 1: year because they won out as the Texans won out
- 37:47Speaker 1: and time ran out on them. But I think they're
- 37:48Speaker 1: coming in here thinking they're going to get their season
- 37:50Speaker 1: back if they beat you on Sunday. I think this
- 37:54Speaker 1: one matters more than yesterday.
- 37:56Speaker 2: I don't think there's any doubt about what you are
- 37:59Speaker 2: talking about, about their belief. And prior to their game
- 38:03Speaker 2: this past weekend against Tennessee, you have D'Amico Ryans returning
- 38:08Speaker 2: to the role of play caller. And they wanted to
- 38:11Speaker 2: do something different. Obviously, when you're not winning, you try
- 38:13Speaker 2: something different. And so now all of a sudden you've
- 38:16Speaker 2: got division rivals getting ready to clash heads, and you've
- 38:20Speaker 2: got two head coaches that are going to be matching wits,
- 38:22Speaker 2: calling plays in this game. I mean, even more reason
- 38:26Speaker 2: for a little bit of rivalry to heat up.
- 38:29Speaker 1: John, you've seen the AFC South from a couple of
- 38:30Speaker 1: different perspectives. Jacksonville, obviously, and your time in Indianapolis. I
- 38:34Speaker 1: don't know that in the South there has been the
- 38:38Speaker 1: sort of fierce rivalry going For the Jaguars, there's been
- 38:42Speaker 1: a competitive rivalry. For the Jags? Yeah, for the Jags.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Until right now, because remember, the Titans thing started in
- 38:49Speaker 1: the old AFC Central, and the Steelers were involved in that,
- 38:51Speaker 1: and the Ravens were involved in that. But in the South,
- 38:53Speaker 1: as it exists right now, I think this is emerging
- 38:57Speaker 1: as we don't like them, and they don't like us.
- 39:00Speaker 3: Well, you only have rivals if you hurt the other team,
- 39:04Speaker 3: and both teams hurt each other. Jaguars really haven't been
- 39:07Speaker 3: good enough until this section. I mean, they were good
- 39:10Speaker 3: in 17. But they haven't been good enough to bother
- 39:14Speaker 3: enough people. Well, the Texans and the Jags bother each other.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 39:20Speaker 3: That's where the fun starts.
- 39:22Speaker 2: And there's history now. They've got a linebacker who will
- 39:26Speaker 2: remain nameless.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Yeah, but he's not faceless.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Just kind of increase the ante into this rivalry.
- 39:32Speaker 1: All right, we've got one more segment. We'll take a
- 39:34Speaker 1: look at the AFC South, in particular the standings, when
- 39:37Speaker 1: we return to wrap up this edition of Jags AM

- 41:50Speaker 1: Jags AM is brought to you on Mondays by our
- 41:52Speaker 1: friends at the Fields Auto Group. Brian Sexton along with
- 41:56Speaker 1: Jeff Lagerman and John Ogier. Quick look at the AFC
- 41:59Speaker 1: South standings. Jags in first place at 4-1. And thanks
- 42:03Speaker 1: to the Steelers, they have a two-game lead right now
- 42:07Speaker 1: over the Indianapolis Colts. Steelers beat the Colts yesterday. And
- 42:12Speaker 1: obviously you see Houston with their win over the Titans.
- 42:15Speaker 1: We can leave the Titans out of the conversation. But
- 42:18Speaker 1: 4-1 is nice. 5-1 and 1-5 on the third-place team
- 42:22Speaker 1: there would be even better if the Jags can get
- 42:25Speaker 1: it done. By the way, the Colts host the Titans
- 42:28Speaker 1: on Sunday in Indianapolis.
- 42:29Speaker 3: Well, it's looking too far ahead, but I guess that's
- 42:32Speaker 3: what we're doing is looking ahead.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Yeah, why not?
- 42:33Speaker 3: You've also got the Colts coming out of the bye
- 42:35Speaker 3: at home. So if you win your next two, you've
- 42:38Speaker 3: got a chance. It's far too early in the NFL
- 42:41Speaker 3: to say it's all behind you. But you've got a
- 42:43Speaker 3: chance to make them seem very far behind you. And
- 42:47Speaker 3: you haven't played in the division yet. So this is
- 42:49Speaker 3: where it starts getting real.
- 42:51Speaker 2: I'm looking forward. I'm focusing on this.
- 42:53Speaker 7: Sure.
- 42:53Speaker 2: I'm keeping all my attention on the Houston Texans because
- 42:56Speaker 2: they deserve that respect. And I expect Wembley to be
- 43:01Speaker 2: very unlike Tottenham and that it will be very pro
- 43:04Speaker 2: Jaguar because that's that's the second home of the Jaguars
- 43:07Speaker 2: is Wembley. And the Houston Texans fans, I don't think,
- 43:11Speaker 2: travel very well. And I think it's going to be
- 43:13Speaker 2: a fantastic environment.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Jaguars are going to have to play their best football
- 43:16Speaker 1: on both sides of the ball. They've been playing good
- 43:18Speaker 1: enough in certain situations. They're going to have to play
- 43:20Speaker 1: really good to beat the Houston Texans on Sunday. Strange
- 43:24Speaker 1: as that may sound for a 1-4 football team, they
- 43:27Speaker 1: have a schedule that is advantageous coming ahead. They think
- 43:31Speaker 1: if they can get a win here, They can restart
- 43:33Speaker 1: and get themselves to 5-5, and then they're back in
- 43:35Speaker 1: the game.
- 43:36Speaker 2: Don't let them.
- 43:37Speaker 1: You let them do it last year when you let
- 43:38Speaker 1: them come back from 19 points.
- 43:40Speaker 2: They have arguably the best defensive player right now in football,
- 43:44Speaker 2: Will Anderson, Jr.
- 43:46Speaker 3: And might have the best defense in football.
- 43:48Speaker 2: And the other guy's pretty good, too, on the other
- 43:51Speaker 2: defensive end spot. And with the Jaguars having Anton Harrison
- 43:56Speaker 2: being evaluated right now with Walker.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Little, Yeah, there's some work to do.
- 44:02Speaker 2: It's going to be interesting.
- 44:03Speaker 1: We've got the whole week here in London with the Jaguars.
- 44:05Speaker 1: We've got everything you need on here on the Jaguars
- 44:07Speaker 1: YouTube channel. We'll be back with Jags AM Wednesday. It
- 44:10Speaker 1: comes to you from Jacksonville. Kai and our friend Coach
- 44:14Speaker 1: Duffner will be with Austin Lane. And then John and
- 44:15Speaker 1: I are back with Brent Martineau on Thursday for this
- 44:19Speaker 1: fine program. Have a great afternoon, everybody. Jags are 4-1.
- 44:23Speaker 1: We're still reveling in it here in London. I hope
- 44:25Speaker 1: you are back home in Jacksonville.
