- 1:47for me, I'd like to know if you're planning to have chicken for dinner
- 1:49any night this week, because no matter how you like that chicken roasted fried
- 1:55or in the stew with dumplings. You like it a lot better served with
- 1:59a glass of Petrie California So Turned. Now there's something to talk about,
- 2:04chicken and Petri so Turn. Petri So Turn is a clear white wine,
- 2:08delicately fragrant. And what a flavor that Petri wine has. It's well,
- 2:15all I can say is it's the wine you've been looking for, a wine
- 2:19that brings you the luscious flavor of big, plump sunripe and grapes. And
- 2:23say, Petri So Turn is not only grape with chicken, but you like
- 2:27it served with fish or any kind of seafood too. So try a bottle
- 2:30of so Turn. Get Petrie So Turned. Those letters P E t R
- 2:36I always spell good wine pet Tree Wine. Well, it's Monday in San
- 3:00Francisco and we have a date with Gregory Hurt. Tonight's rendezvous is at his
- 3:05apartment high on knob Hill and overlooking the Golden Gate. Let's join in there,
- 3:08shall we? Hello, Gregory Hurry Potter, come on in. I
- 3:15was expecting you. Where's Sandy tamlor night? Greg He threw up to Vancouver
- 3:19today. That's some legal business he had to attend to for me on a
- 3:21shipment coming in from the Orient. He'll be back in a few days.
- 3:23Class of Sherry, Harry, Thanks well, Siamese Cat a new addition to
- 3:30the manage. Oh no, no, Sam's an old retainer. He's been
- 3:35up at my place at Russian River going down with me this morning. Mighty
- 3:38friendly. What did you say? His name is Well, officially it's Singing
- 3:42Low, but his host of friends decided it was too dignified a name for
- 3:45such a whimsical character, so he was christened Sam Ferber Greg, And am
- 3:51I crazy? Or is Sam cross eyed? Oh? Yes, yes he's
- 3:53cross eyed and his tail's broken. But he has a delightful, dusky little
- 3:57soul, haven't you Sammy? Well, Sam has another fan. Now,
- 4:02thanks Greg? And now I know, I know you have that Monday night
- 4:05look in your eye. You want a story out of my case books?
- 4:08Correct? And from the hints you gave us last week, it sounded as
- 4:11though you had quite a special in line up. Oh it was a strange
- 4:14business, Harry. The whole thing happened in Hollywood. What were you doing
- 4:16down there? Greg? Metropolis Studios were making a picture called Passport to Danger,
- 4:20and my old friend Ray Hanson was directing it. The story was about
- 4:24a girl who inherits an importing business and gets into a struggle between her private
- 4:28life and being a career woman. And you were called in as a technical
- 4:30advisor. Well, not quite that. Harry Ray called me one night and
- 4:32said that he had some headaches on the importing business angle of the picture.
- 4:35So the next morning I hopped into my beachcraft and flew down to the city
- 4:39of celloids. As you know, I'm something of a gourmet, how well
- 4:43I know, So it was only natural that my lunch that day was eaten
- 4:46at the Brown Derby in Hollywood. As I entered that star studded home of
- 4:49good food, I was greeted by Bill Julia. Mister Greg ray Hood,
- 4:57it's good to see you back in town. Hello, Bill, is good
- 5:00be back? I have you used a table for you this way? Please?
- 5:02Thanks? Oh? By the way, Bill, I hope that on
- 5:03this trip you will break down and give me the recipe for that Cob salad.
- 5:08I don't know if mister Copple will like me fill Oh, come on,
- 5:10Bill, Bob Cobb and I are old friends. He'd approve. Well,
- 5:13mister Hood, here's your table. I know you start up with three
- 5:15kinds of lettuce, romaine, chicory and iceed letters. Break it up very
- 5:18crack, mister Hood. Then you slice up some bacon in tiny stripes,
- 5:23some chap chips, and then it comes to cheese. Ye Oh excuse me,
- 5:26Bill, who's that girl sitting two boots away? Miss Sheila Graham one
- 5:30of our best movie comedies and radiocommendator. I thought it was. I was
- 5:33go and talk to her. I'll get the rest of that recipe from you
- 5:35before I go. Bill. Very well, mister Hood, Sheila Graham,
- 5:40How nice to see you again, Gregory Hurd. I heard you're in town?
- 5:43You did? I only flew in this morning. You get your news
- 5:46past, Sheila. My spies are everywhere, Gregor is in this case.
- 5:49I met Ray Hanson at the beach party at Malibu last night. Told me
- 5:53you were coming. What brings you to town, Gregory, said, she
- 5:57whipping out her golden ever sharp your news, Gregory, famous important man about
- 6:02town and amateur detective flies into Hollywood. I mentioned it on my radio shop.
- 6:06I heard you had a new show, Sheila. What time is it?
- 6:10I must catch it? Sunday nights eight forty five on mutual her nicely
- 6:14spoken, I shall listen, Thanky kindly. And now, Greg, which
- 6:17about starlet is responsible for your being in town? Well it isn't a girl
- 6:21this time, Sheila. I came down to give Ray Hanson a little help
- 6:25on the importing business for passport to Danger. Oh yeah, that's the Nedda
- 6:28Mason and Norwood open Sammy soon. Nedda's having luncheon with me today. Have
- 6:32you met her? No? No, but I hear she's what is known
- 6:35technically, I believe as a dish, a little too highly spiced dish for
- 6:40my liking. But she a good corpet. I did meet Anne Norwood.
- 6:44Isn't she sweet? I fell hopelessly and head over heels in love with her.
- 6:47Seems impossible that an eight year old girl can be a movie star,
- 6:50and yet to me so utterly unspoiled. Hear, comes Neda Mason. Now,
- 6:54what's a switch on the personality? Hello, Nedda, Shela Darling?
- 6:59Oh, I said, we saw I am easimply marvel me for autographs.
- 7:01Do you know Gregory Hood? It's not amazing? How do you do?
- 7:04So? You're the famous Gregory Hood? Ray told me you were flying down.
- 7:08You're good to help us on the picture, aren't you if I can?
- 7:11It's a marvelous script. And I've got a dream of a part.
- 7:14And Sheila Darling was closed. All Adrians diamonds, the most heavenly outfits.
- 7:18I think I must be aniss, my dear. I just can't keep away
- 7:21from mirrors these days. Excuse mister Hood, Oh yes, Bill, but
- 7:26it's a young bad They waited for you at the table. There is excuse
- 7:29me, Shela, see you again before I leave time. I still have
- 7:31met you, miss Mason well at the studio, Well well, miss Anne
- 7:36Norwood. He didn't mind me sitting down at your table. Give you.
- 7:41I'm very flatter, Dan. I had to see you alone. That's why
- 7:44I didn't come over to the other table. I saw miss Amazing there and
- 7:47you don't like that? Isn't exactly that? So I do think he talks
- 7:51off me loudly, don't you? Yes? And I do. Mister Robin
- 7:56Hood, there are detective, aren't you? Anamet way? And incidentally I
- 8:01am. The name is Gregory, not Roberts, I know, but I
- 8:03think you're just life Robin Hurst. And he was wonderful, and so I
- 8:07think he knew that way. I'll admit that my prices might be called stealing
- 8:11from the rich, and I do give to the poor, but that's where
- 8:13the resemblance ends. I'm afraid, Anne, but I'm very flattered that you
- 8:16think of me that way. I do, mister Hurst. That's why I've
- 8:20come to you for help. You see my daddy's dead. Now do so
- 8:24miss having a man to talk to? Of course you do, Anne,
- 8:26You go ahead and talk. I have a very, a very serious problem.
- 8:31I need a detective. Dear me, Anne, Whatever is the matter.
- 8:35Somebody has stolen my map, my supermath. I've been working on it
- 8:39for weeks and I'm good at maths too, at least my teachers as I
- 8:43am. But what kind of a map was it? It's something I invented.
- 8:46It's full of thoughts and secret weapons and dock yards and MAT's and stolen.
- 8:52But when did you see at last? Anne? This morning? It
- 8:54was in my portable dressing room in the studio. I was working on it
- 8:58between scenes when I came back just before lunch. You're gone, Oh,
- 9:03dear a kind of money darling. You're frightened me. Why do you just
- 9:07live away like that? While I was parking the car. I had to
- 9:09see mister Hood. Mommise, this is mister Robin, I mean Gregy Hurd.
- 9:15How do you do, mister Hood? How do you do do?
- 9:16Sit down with you? Well, Andrew, you haven't been bothering mister Hood,
- 9:22have you? Not a bit of it? She knew that I was
- 9:24an amateur detective and she came to me with a problem. I'm very flashy.
- 9:28You see money, Murph? I suppose God and mister Hood's going to
- 9:33find it for me? Aren't here? I'll do my best, Anne,
- 9:35And who do you think might have stolen it? I think it was miss
- 9:39mad and Mason. It must have been either her or Major Courtney. They
- 9:43were the only few people in my Blessingham to day. It's that motherl Major
- 9:46Courtney. That name seems familiar. Who is well? I suppose you might
- 9:50say, mind you terribly stuck on money? And that's not very nice.
- 9:56What branch of the army is he? And missus norwo? Honestly I don't
- 10:01know, and if I did, I shouldn't think it's awesome terrific Secy don't
- 10:05even wear a uniform. Well, I'll tell you what. Let's do you
- 10:09both have lunch with me. Then we'll drive over to the studio and see
- 10:11if we can find that map for you. Anne. Oh, mister Hood,
- 10:15you're so wonderful. This is my dressing room, mister Hood. Do
- 10:31you like it very much? Anne? You don't think it's a little young
- 10:35for me? Do you? Mother had it decorated? And I think it's
- 10:37perfect for your personality? Clean and fresh and cool, mister Hood, you'll
- 10:43say, the loveliest thing. Are you married? No, Anne, I've
- 10:46always been waiting for the right girl. Keep waiting, mister Hood. She'll
- 10:50come along. I just know she will very well. Anne. But while
- 10:54I'm waiting, let's see if we can track down that math for you.
- 10:58Where did you last see it? On a dressing room table? Here?
- 11:01When you leave this dressing room and go before the cameras, do you lock
- 11:03the door always, Tommy, never forget. And the arrangement of the dawn
- 11:07window in here sets that no one could have slipped in a hand to here,
- 11:11or sneaked in and storm it, left it in this madamation or make
- 11:15your curtain. Yes, it looks like it. And yet, Anne,
- 11:18I can understand someone wanting one of your maps, But if he did,
- 11:20he'd ask you for it. He wouldn't steal it. But if the person
- 11:24whoever it was, thought it was one of Major Cortney's maps, it would
- 11:28be different. Why would it be different, mister Hood? Your mother hinted
- 11:31that he might be in special service for the army. You said your map
- 11:33had force and secret weapon sites on it. Now do you see, Anne,
- 11:37Yes, mister Hood, and that I mean miss Neda Mason's a spy.
- 11:41Oh goodie, this is fine. No, no, Darling, you
- 11:45mustn't go around saying she's a spy. I'm just dreaming up a very wild
- 11:48part. The chances are that the gust of wind came through the window and
- 11:50blew your map out into the studio. Oh no, I like it so
- 11:54much better the other way, mister Hood. Frankly man, So do I
- 11:58come in? Hello? Anne, Darling? Uh, hello, mister This
- 12:05is a very great friend of mine, mister Gregory Hood. How do you
- 12:09do he's playing the lead in another picture on the lost So yeah, he
- 12:13isn't this yours? I founded on the studio floor. It's my map,
- 12:16it's my supermark. Oh you see, An, it wasn't stolen after all,
- 12:20stolen? Annie? Did you think someone had stolen your map, Yes
- 12:24I did. It's an awful good map. I uh, I hear that
- 12:28you're a amateur detective, mister Hood in an unapprocive way. Why hell,
- 12:33I was wondering where Annie dreamed up the idea that her map had been stolen.
- 12:37I guess you put her up to it, do you. Well,
- 12:39it's a dad guest, mister. My name isn't Annie, it's on.
- 12:43Okay, honey, don't get mad at me. I was just trying to
- 12:46be funny. Hey, yes, Charlie, I'm the said please versal of
- 12:48the next scene. Okay, Charlie, see you later, and nice to
- 12:52have met you, mister Hoods And goodbye, mister yes An, you know
- 12:56I'm sorry. My map was fine so easily you won't detect this on me
- 13:01anymore. And I was having such fun had been stolen, mister Hood,
- 13:09I would, mister Freeman of Gods, that well, since I dreamed up
- 13:11a hypothetic OCASI in the beginning, I might as well give you a hypothetical
- 13:16solution. You use such lovely words. What this hyper What does it mean?
- 13:22Mister Hood? I meant that we were still playing at Let's pretend the
- 13:24map was stolen. Let's suppose the thief thought there were plans of major cortners
- 13:30and he stole them. When he examined them, he found they were harmless,
- 13:33so he threw them away. And mister Fremont found them, knew that
- 13:35you were quite a math maker, and brought them back to you. Oh
- 13:37yourself, mister Hood, I bet that's what happened. I wouldn't take the
- 13:41bad and let me look at the map with you. Of course, I'll
- 13:45do one for you if you laugh, naturally, I'd like it very much.
- 13:48That's odd. What is it, mister Hood? The red marks on
- 13:52the corner of your math and they are made by nail polish that hadn't quite
- 13:56dried, nao polish of a peculiarly horrendous shade of purply crimson, exact shade
- 14:01that mister Metamason was wearing at the brown Derby today. Actually is a spy
- 14:05after all? Perhaps, Look, Anne, even though you've got your back,
- 14:11I might as well follow this business through. There's something funny going on
- 14:13here. I think so too, mister Hood. I just know Misma to
- 14:16spy. Let you look at those eyes of her, Yes, Anne,
- 14:20I got the slammed let's go to a dressing room and talk to her.
- 14:24Shall I This is addressing than mister Hood. You better knock. I always
- 14:39knocked. Anne. It's lucky. Hello, mister Latimer, what my dream
- 14:43boat? Anyhow are you darling? Mister Gregory, mister Latimer, I just
- 14:48call me loose. You're greg Hood. I know about you. You sell
- 14:52old hunks of ivory for Big Go in San Francisco, and you're an amateur
- 14:54Slouthoo can show off the pros, and you're a wolf in good stand.
- 14:58Listen, Lou, I also packed them left, leaned up a little character,
- 15:01oh little lord father right character? Okay, speak me to a pulp
- 15:05and call me juicy A get it pulse juicy O the player, Lou.
- 15:09It gives me ideas character. But death listen, I'm having the publicity on
- 15:16this little super dupic colossal Honker picture. I've got an idea it'll sway you.
- 15:18Greg. I'm mortal just like the next man. But I listened to
- 15:22it later right now, and and I want to see nedder Mason. Is
- 15:24she in her dressing room? Oh? Death? She went in about half
- 15:26an hour ago. And I've been sitting here ever since, dreaming up idea.
- 15:30Anyone else been in to see her. Nash Philip Premont, the alleged
- 15:33actor, went in. Also Major Courtney, the man of mystery. They
- 15:37both left Novo so and I'm going in the loan. Stay here with mister
- 15:41Lackerman, will you? Why can I go with you? Mister hood?
- 15:43You know how it is. And you're a sophisticated girl. When you go
- 15:46to see a beautiful spy, you go alone. I know. It's just
- 15:50like in the Sunny. I think she was a dragon ninety. He wasn't
- 15:54want another woman. Shut me alone. That's right, and you're very understanding.
- 15:58I'll be back in a moment. Ah, chare okay, Greg,
- 16:00you've heard it's a definite character. But in Dube, I love mister Why
- 16:04not Jenny. Oh, by the way, green board, I've got a
- 16:07terrific angle for you on this picture. Oh no, not as good.
- 16:11Oh this one's a natural, honey, child. We give you a big
- 16:14balloon. See it has Passport to danger printed on it. Now, passport
- 16:18though backward is cropsap. Say no, I don't look, baby. Cropsap
- 16:23is the name of a cereal. See, and we get them to ask
- 16:26you why you're so healthy? And you say you always breakfast on cropsap because
- 16:30backward it spells passport. And that's in the title of your super duper smasher.
- 16:33Will you get it in? I don't eat toplock. I've never even
- 16:38heard of it. I wouldn't tell a lie why she says. Yet listen,
- 16:41honey, job, you're not getting a point. It's a big balloon.
- 16:45Maybe we throw it up with the hydrogen. But you see it's got
- 16:48this billboard on each side of it. See and when they ask you or
- 16:52I'm glad you love that your mother left the message she wants you to call
- 16:56her back at the Brown Derby. It's quite important, all right, mister
- 17:00wait here for me. Welcome, Yes, and I'll wait. What's the
- 17:03matter? Pal? You look at the good scene of ghosts. I have
- 17:07throws the studio gates and send for the police, the police. What's wrong?
- 17:10Plenty? Here, Miss Nedda Mason's lying in her dressing room. She's
- 17:12been strangled. Oh you'll hear the rest of Gregory hood story in just a
- 17:26second. So I'm going to tell you about a red wine. It's really
- 17:30marvelous with any kind of meat or meat dish. The wine is Petrie California
- 17:36Burgundy. Petrick Burgundy is a rich, full flavored wine. A wine's so
- 17:41unusual that it can turn a simple meal into a real feast. For proof,
- 17:45next time you have hamburgers or your favorite kind of stew for dinner,
- 17:49serve it with a glass of Petri Burgundy. Your whole dinner becomes more colorful.
- 17:55And as for the wine itself, well, Patrick Burgundy will make you
- 17:59small lives for fair and just side with pleasure. Be sure you get Petre
- 18:03Burgundy, because Petree is always good wine. Well, Gregory, so you've
- 18:10found that a mason strangled in her dressing room? Uh? What happened when
- 18:12the police got there? Well, Lou Latimer, the publicity man, persuaded
- 18:15me not to send for them right away. He probably figured that you could
- 18:18solve the case, hand the killer over to the police and so avoid as
- 18:22much publicity as pop correct. Harry and I somewhat grudgingly agreed, and so,
- 18:26having gotten little Ann Norwood safely out of the studio, Lou Latimer and
- 18:29I went back to the dead girl's dressing room, where I began to search.
- 18:34Not so far, Lou, except that the thumb month show she was
- 18:37strangled from behind, no chance of identifying them unfraid. See, Greg,
- 18:41how do you figure this killing? It's a hard one to figure. Maybe
- 18:45the explanation I had lived at the studio for Anne Norwood's benefit might fit the
- 18:48killing at that well, it looks simple enough to me. I saw let
- 18:52a walk into her dressing room. I was sitting outside it until you came
- 18:55out. Apart from yourself, only two people went in, Major Courtney,
- 18:59the man a mister, and that Ham actor Philip Fremont. It must be
- 19:02one of them. Hello, Hello, Now we've got a clue. What's
- 19:06thanks in her right hand? Huh? Looks like some kind of ten It's
- 19:10a Sigma zi key. What sigmas? I an honorary fraternity for science,
- 19:14a sort of scientific equivalent of five bit of kappa. But there's no name
- 19:18on this key, so you still don't know which one of the two it
- 19:21is? Which one of the three? Huh? Au do you figure three?
- 19:23Greg? Proving it's two only rests on one thing. Lou your word
- 19:27alone, that makes you my friend. The third suspect Sheila Graham speaking Hello,
- 19:49Greg Ray, what's on your mind? I need some Can you give
- 19:52me an effects on the free Mont's educational background. Yes, I can.
- 19:56I did a piece on him the other day. He's a colleague man got
- 20:00into acting through the hasty putting chavert Harvard major in English? No science?
- 20:04No greg See do you know Lou let him? A publicity man? Know
- 20:10him? He tested me almost dance? Why Gregory? Well, how about
- 20:12his educational baker? Well, Lou plains that he graduated from high school.
- 20:18Personally, I'd say that if he ever got beyond the fifth grade, I'd
- 20:21want to see the proof. Oh, thank you, you're a remarkably well
- 20:23informed girl. I call you later. Goodbye, missus Norwin. Why did
- 20:34you bring Anne back here to the studio? I simply couldn't keep her away?
- 20:38Mister? Where is she now talking to Major? Oh? I'm anxious
- 20:41to meet him. We'll come along then, let's go in. Where have
- 20:49you been? How's missed you? Well? I had little business to attend
- 20:52to Anne. I wanted to meet Major Cotney. Mister Gregg, how do
- 20:56you do Major? Hello, misterven Han's just been telling me about you.
- 21:00She's a rabid fan of yours as I am of hers. In fact,
- 21:02I've quite lost my heart's Well, doesn't he say the most beautiful thing.
- 21:07Major caught me. I wonder if you and I could take a stroll.
- 21:08I'm most anxious to speak to you alone. Well, yes, I suppose
- 21:12so I want to come with you, mister Hood. Arnand you heard mister
- 21:15Hood say that he wanted to speak to Major Courtney alone. Don't worry,
- 21:19Anne, We'll be back in a few minutes. You're being very mysterious to
- 21:27her. I didn't want to talk in front of Anne. You knew about
- 21:30Neda Mason, of course, Mind if I ask you some questions, no,
- 21:34fire away? Would I be right in thinking you're a government technician?
- 21:40That's a question I can't answer. Who then would you tell me if you
- 21:42studied science and college? Yes, I majored in it. Then doubtless you're
- 21:47a member of Sigma Ze. Yes I am. May I see your pretended
- 21:51the key, and I don't wear it often. I don't know where it
- 21:53is right now. Look, I don't know what you're driving at, but
- 21:57I'm not used to being cross questions. Sorry, but I'm going on with
- 22:00it. Why did you call on Nedda Mason in her dressing room this afternoon?
- 22:06That is none of your business. Then let me do a little guesswork,
- 22:08Major, I think you suspected ned Mason of being involved in espionage activities.
- 22:12Perhaps she displayed too much interest in your briefcase and you went in to
- 22:17talk to her about it. Listen, Hood, if you must know,
- 22:18when I went into Nedda's dressing room, I found her, murdered, found
- 22:22her or left her that way, Major, you're barking at the wrong tree,
- 22:26my friend. And if I were free to explain a few things to
- 22:29you, which I'm not, you believe me. H, Gregory, there
- 22:33you are. They're looking all over a lot for you. Are you coming?
- 22:34I think we're on the last laugh, Lou, Let's tell me one
- 22:37thing. Sure, what is it? Pal? Is Philip Fremont's picture shooting
- 22:41this afternoon? Yeah, they're on stage eight. They're shooting a big gun
- 22:44battle scene right now. I just left there. You want to come over,
- 22:47Yes, lou I do want to very much. All right, all
- 23:02right, that's all for today. We'll pick up the reverse shop in the
- 23:04morning. Ain't not like everyone off those, hey, Gregory, we can
- 23:08catch Fremont before he gets back to his dressing room. Yes, let's go
- 23:11on the set and talk to him. Come on, Major, Cortner keep
- 23:14your weather eye open, Hood, and maybe leading with our chin I know,
- 23:15major, but we have the advantage of surprise, I hope. Oh
- 23:19hello, mister Prima. Well Gregory, Hood didn't know you were on the
- 23:23set. It's too bad you weren't here earlier. We were shooting some good
- 23:26stuff. Stay by the way, can you get here in the morning.
- 23:29I've got several terrific scenes. Then, too bad that you won't be playing
- 23:32them. Premont, I what you mean, Hood, call the police loop
- 23:36for the Premont your murderer. Hello Fremont, that was my hunch. Two
- 23:40Hood, stay right? Why y'allow? And that goes for the rest of
- 23:41them, don't you see? I'm still carrying my revolver. Yes, a
- 23:45revolver containing blanks. You've just used it in the scene. Oh no,
- 23:48no, I have another one in my pocket, a revolver containing live shells.
- 23:52I've switched them and I shoot expertly through the pocket. Despite the tailor's
- 23:56bills. You're not getting me arrested. I'm clearing out. Why did you
- 23:59strangle Nether? Amazing because she was stupid that she quarreled with me. In
- 24:03any case, that girl who can mistake the map of an eight year old
- 24:06child for a valuable map such as the Major carries deserves to die. She
- 24:10was no more used to us, us being your fashion superiors, of course,
- 24:14correct, Major caught me a g two. You didn't think fascism was
- 24:18dead, did you? Just because you and your boys kill a few Germans?
- 24:22All the words dead? All right, we'll never call it pascism again,
- 24:26but you'll be hearing from us. From you, we'll only hear a
- 24:29faint squeal from the gas chamber. Premonth. Yeah, you'll never get me.
- 24:33Oh, by the way, Hood, I knew you were pretty smart,
- 24:37but I didn't think you'd spot me. What mistake did I make in
- 24:40leaving that Sigma zie key in the dead girl's hand? Yeah? But Greg,
- 24:44you said that he didn't have any name on exactly That was the point
- 24:45for you. Any genuine key such as Major caught me on, has the
- 24:49name on it that's not Major, Yes, invariably so the absence of the
- 24:52name suggested that it was a dummy he. You were playing a scientist in
- 24:56your picture, Premont, so you were obviously wearing a prop he to give
- 24:59all authenticity to the pot careless of beauty. Let the dying girl wrench it
- 25:03off your watch chain and the struggle, Yes, wasn't it. I must
- 25:06watch blunders like that in the future, Gregory, Hood, I don't like
- 25:11you. Gunfire is pretty common on this set, and I think I'll give
- 25:15you a little treatment. Cleamont. You having a chance of getting out of
- 25:18this studio. You should know that, and think of the publicity will give
- 25:21us. Well, it'll be terrific. It'll be shut off, William little
- 25:22rest. What do you say, mister Gregory, or to mind your own
- 25:26business? Hood, I'd say, look out above you you expect me to
- 25:30it? Got it? A pulling paint buck knocked them out cold. Gee,
- 25:36but you're luckty, greg fine Detective Iron saved from being shot only by
- 25:38a freak accident. Cheaper. Hey, look up there in the catwalk.
- 25:45It's a little and noble and darling. How can I thank you? Yes,
- 25:53darling, it's a day and you danced beautifully. I'm afraid I'm a
- 26:11little shocked for you, though not a bit of it. Anne, I
- 26:14like my women fatigue. By the way, young lady, perhaps you will
- 26:17tell me how you happen to be up on the catwalk this afternoon. Well,
- 26:19mister Hood, when you went out of my dressing end had made it
- 26:22Courtney. I could see by your face that something was wrong. I got
- 26:26scared for you, so I stepped out of the dressing woman and it shadowed
- 26:30me. Yes, I got to stay kate ahead of you and climbed the
- 26:33ladder to the catwalk so that I could see what was going on? Did
- 26:37I let mister set when I talk about buck at all? Ronnie? Not
- 26:41seriously? Anne, But you stunned him and probably saved my life. How
- 26:45can I ever repay you? Well, there is one way, mister,
- 26:49hood. What is it? Anne told me Lanes that you've never married because
- 26:55I hadn't met the right woman. That's right, Anne, Chief on waiting,
- 26:59mister, please keep on wilk. Greg, that was really a swell
- 27:15story. But what a detective you turned out to be. Why, Harry,
- 27:19what do you mean I solved the case? What more do you want?
- 27:22Oh? I know, Greg, but over that's the fact that that
- 27:25gun might have real bullets. But if it hadn't been for I know,
- 27:27I know it was a slight oversight on my part. But Harry, I
- 27:30can make a little mistake. Now, Now, Harry, don't stand there
- 27:36and tell me you never make a mistake. Not when it comes to choosing
- 27:40a wine, I don't because I always choose Petrie wine. I don't know
- 27:42why I bothered talking. Oh, yes, you do. You like to
- 27:45hear about good wine just as much as the next dollar. And I like
- 27:48to talk about Petrie wine because Petrie wine is good wine. Well, it's
- 27:53just got to be. After all, the Petrick family has been making wine
- 27:57for generations. Wine making is their heritage, a heritage passed on down from
- 28:03father to son, from father to son, from generation to generation. It's
- 28:08easy to understand why the Petrick family knows so well the art of turning luscious,
- 28:14sun ripened grapes into fragrant, delicious wine. And it's easy to understand
- 28:18why the Petrie business has grown and grown so that today the Petrie family are
- 28:23America's largest independent wine maker. Yes, the making of Petrie wine is a
- 28:29family affair, and the Petrick family intends to keep it that way because by
- 28:33so doing they can be sure that every bottle of wine that bears the name
- 28:37Petrie is and always will be good wine. Well, Gretory Wich particular story
- 28:44from the case book you have lined up for us next week. Next week,
- 28:45Harry, I'm going to tell you about a strange woman who claimed to
- 28:48be able to see into the future. She predicted two violent deaths with tightening
- 28:52accuracy. The third death she happened to prophesy was my own. See you
- 28:56next Monday, Harry. The Case Book of Gregory Hood is written by Dennis
- 29:15Green and Anthony Boucher. Original music composed and played by Dean Fossler. Gaale
- 29:21Gordon plays the part of Gregory Hood. The Petri Wine Company of San Francisco,
- 29:30California invites you to tune in again next week, same time, same
- 29:34station. The Case Book of Gregoryhood comes to you from our Hollywood studio.
- 29:45This is Harry Bartell saying good night for the Petrie families for a solid hour
- 29:52of exciting mystery dramas. Listen every Monday on most of these same stations at
- 29:55eight o'clock to Michael Shane, followed immediately by the Case Book of Gregory Hood.
- 30:00This is the New World Broadcast thesis. Welcome back. Well. I
- 30:06have to say that is a fantastic way to tease the next week's show and
- 30:12give us away less than the Nick Carter teases that we get. And I
- 30:18enjoyed the story as well. We don't get enough precocious child actors in these
- 30:25mystery dramas. And I'm just continuing to enjoy this series. And you have
- 30:30Harry Bartel very charming and decent cases every week. This is definitely an underrated
- 30:38series and I hope you're enjoying it as well. Well. We'll be back
- 30:42tomorrow. We are continuing on with the Alder matter and next week join us
- 30:47for another episode of the Casebook of Gregory Hood. In the meantime, send
