- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six forty.
- 0:07Speaker 2: I know, same group, same channel, same station, same time.
- 0:14Speaker 3: There you go. Amy's giving me the two thumbs up.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Last time I got two thumbs up is when I
- 0:19Speaker 2: saw two protologists simultaneously. I don't know why I said that.
- 0:22Speaker 2: By the way, that is a horrible thing to say.
- 0:24Speaker 2: So let's just end it at that.
- 0:26Speaker 4: Is that?
- 0:26Speaker 3: Okay?
- 0:27Speaker 1: And now handle on the news, ladies and gentlemen. Here's
- 0:32Speaker 1: Bill Handle.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Goodbruning everybody.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Okay, it is ame day, Wednesday, May twentieth, old man.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Do we have some things to talk about today?
- 0:48Speaker 2: To say the least, a lot of politics today, because
- 0:51Speaker 2: there were a lot of politics yesterday. And you know,
- 0:55Speaker 2: I've gone from gee, I'm really not very happy to
- 0:58Speaker 2: the way the world is going, and last night I
- 1:02Speaker 2: went straight into I am now frightened, genuinely frightened where
- 1:07Speaker 2: this country is going.
- 1:09Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:09Speaker 2: And I'll share that with you, and I'm going to
- 1:11Speaker 2: give you a couple of examples of what's happened historically
- 1:15Speaker 2: that along heat this path.
- 1:18Speaker 3: And I'll yeah, and.
- 1:20Speaker 2: By the way, for those of you that and you know,
- 1:22Speaker 2: I'm not particularly a big fan of Donald Trump. But
- 1:26Speaker 2: I would like you to refute what I am going
- 1:28Speaker 2: to say later on in the seven o'clock hour. Just
- 1:32Speaker 2: tell me I am wrong. Well, I want to hear
- 1:35Speaker 2: with emails. Obviously you can't call, because you can't call, but.
- 1:40Speaker 4: They can't trust me, they will all right, I'm not
- 1:43Speaker 4: gonnas whatever? Are you?
- 1:45Speaker 3: Pardon?
- 1:46Speaker 4: You're not going to cry today, are you? You're that frightening?
- 1:48Speaker 2: I did some crying last night. I have no doubt.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I'm a student. I think that I'm a student of history.
- 1:57Speaker 2: And it was and I looked back and I as
- 2:00Speaker 2: of last night and went, okay, man, we're into a
- 2:03Speaker 2: world of hurt, and not just the two and a
- 2:06Speaker 2: half years left of Trump's term. It's going to go on.
- 2:11Speaker 2: It's going to go on until Trump dies, and he's
- 2:14Speaker 2: in pretty good shape. He's eighty years old. We're almost eighty,
- 2:18Speaker 2: and then I think it may go on beyond that.
- 2:21Speaker 2: And I'll explain later on what I'm talking about.
- 2:24Speaker 3: In the meantime. Hello, Neil, there you are. Hello, Hello
- 2:28Speaker 3: and Cono.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Good morning Bill the fearmonger.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Yeah, the fear monger. No, I just said to me.
- 2:34Speaker 2: I just said, I am frighten. There are plenty of
- 2:37Speaker 2: people that thought what happened last night was just absolutely terrific.
- 2:40Speaker 2: And we'll talk about that. We're talking about the politics
- 2:43Speaker 2: and the races. Of course, that the primaries that happened
- 2:47Speaker 2: last night. Then Amy, good morning, Hi Bill, Hi there
- 2:51Speaker 2: you are, Will, Good morning Bill. Okay, T shirt says what,
- 2:55Speaker 2: Oh it's the one you've always said. Oh yeah, America
- 2:58Speaker 2: needs journalists. Yeah, okay, you down more than ever. Yeah, okay,
- 3:03Speaker 2: probably good point. And uh the young lady over there
- 3:07Speaker 2: that insists on San Diego Padres uh regalia, Uh huh
- 3:14Speaker 2: yeah that's right.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Yeah, do guy win history? Oh now he speaks up.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Oh wow, well, you know what, how are those astros doing?
- 3:24Speaker 3: Dummy? Because that I get. I guess that means no,
- 3:27Speaker 3: the Padres didn't win whatever.
- 3:29Speaker 4: No, I think they're at the first place too.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Half of a game, Dodgers, half of a game.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Go blue, sports talk, sports talk, you know what what?
- 3:40Speaker 5: And you're such a sore loser the worst, Like I
- 3:43Speaker 5: want to come hit you right now.
- 3:44Speaker 3: You know, it's not like sports. It's not like sports.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Exploding here girl fight you guys want to see it.
- 3:51Speaker 3: We're on zoom. You can watch me feet whatever.
- 3:54Speaker 6: I can't scrappy little thing. Don't let her come in here.
- 3:58Speaker 3: I know I could take you down. Might be king
- 4:00Speaker 3: to myself.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Uh okay, No, I know that, But occasionally, occasionally you
- 4:07Speaker 2: guys respond to what I say. Unlike that last statement
- 4:11Speaker 2: here is sports talk. Let me go beyond that or into.
- 4:14Speaker 3: You brought it up. You literally opened the door I did.
- 4:17Speaker 3: I didn't walk through you. No, you didn't walk through it.
- 4:20Speaker 3: You took you know, you took a map truck through.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Should now stop?
- 4:25Speaker 3: Okay, you're making me fearful, all right?
- 4:28Speaker 2: Now?
- 4:30Speaker 3: Okay? Okay? With that?
- 4:32Speaker 2: Uh sports talk kN X Radio has flipped its FM
- 4:37Speaker 2: signal to sports to an AM sports station. No, it
- 4:41Speaker 2: flipped this FM signal to sports talk. I don't know
- 4:45Speaker 2: if you knew that, because they had. They had gone
- 4:47Speaker 2: and taken their FM signal, moved their news station to
- 4:51Speaker 2: two broadcast channels, one A M and the other one
- 4:56Speaker 2: f M. And now the FM is uh A into
- 5:00Speaker 2: a sports station.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Who cares?
- 5:02Speaker 7: Okay, Kelliam, I was just in talking a little inside baseball,
- 5:05Speaker 7: just talking about what's going on in the world of radio,
- 5:07Speaker 7: because there may be some people interested, Unlike you, Neil,
- 5:12Speaker 7: there may be some people.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Sure Oh my gosh. The Woody Show has been on
- 5:18Speaker 4: fire lately. And when I get a chance to listen
- 5:22Speaker 4: to Ellen k Boom, it just brightens up my day.
- 5:26Speaker 2: And sometimes as you talk on this broadcast, I think
- 5:32Speaker 2: you are listening to Ellen kay.
- 5:35Speaker 3: During this show.
- 5:37Speaker 4: See you're making me fearful again. Okay, there, am I secure?
- 5:41Speaker 7: All right?
- 5:42Speaker 3: Fair enough?
- 5:42Speaker 2: I got this is going to mean I got that topic.
- 5:45Speaker 2: We're moving topics around this morning because I wanted to
- 5:48Speaker 2: talk about what was happening last night in various spins.
- 5:51Speaker 3: But let's go in. We're we'll cover the first.
- 5:54Speaker 2: One that I'm talking about at seven o'clock. In a
- 5:58Speaker 2: few moments, it's time for Handle on the News with
- 6:02Speaker 2: Amy Neil and me leads to our attack. Yeah, another fun,
- 6:10Speaker 2: fun chapter in the world of our president. Acting Attorney
- 6:15Speaker 2: General Todd Blanche signed an order that the IRS is
- 6:21Speaker 2: forever barred from examining examining President Trump's prior tax returns.
- 6:27Speaker 2: The President, his family members, any business attached to the
- 6:31Speaker 2: Trump organization can never be audited at all. So therefore,
- 6:39Speaker 2: effectively Trump can say this is what I think is
- 6:43Speaker 2: fair in taxes, this is let I'm going to pay
- 6:46Speaker 2: and there's nobody who can say, wait a minute, that's
- 6:48Speaker 2: not true. And the concept of no one is above
- 6:53Speaker 2: the law. Oh, yes there is, and this has to do.
- 6:56Speaker 2: I'll explain it a little bit later. A ten billion
- 6:58Speaker 2: dollar lawsuit that he filed the yet that he as
- 7:01Speaker 2: president filed against the IRS for releasing or someone that
- 7:06Speaker 2: was a contractor releasing his IRS files. He was damaged
- 7:10Speaker 2: by ten billion dollars and he filed against the IRS.
- 7:13Speaker 2: By the way, he'd be negotiating with himself, because would
- 7:17Speaker 2: be the DOJ negotiating with him as to the ten
- 7:21Speaker 2: billion dollars he makes a claim, and maybe the DOJ
- 7:24Speaker 2: would have settled with him, as in he settles with himself.
- 7:28Speaker 4: And overturned it all Billy with another president.
- 7:34Speaker 3: I don't think so. I don't think so.
- 7:37Speaker 2: And on top of that, part of the settlement is
- 7:42Speaker 2: not only the dropping of any examination of taxes and
- 7:48Speaker 2: precluding any further going on in terms of examining or
- 7:54Speaker 2: taking any of the Trump people to task. Is the
- 7:57Speaker 2: one point eight billion dollars fund that he set up
- 8:02Speaker 2: to pay for anybody who was a victim of the
- 8:06Speaker 2: weaponization of the Biden administration, including the UH. January January sixth,
- 8:16Speaker 2: and I'm going to put into quotes that January sixth
- 8:19Speaker 2: patriots who had the peaceful demonstration in the capital. All
- 8:26Speaker 2: we want to do is undo an illegal election. And therefore,
- 8:32Speaker 2: of course you know that was pardon day one and
- 8:34Speaker 2: now and and I don't know how people are going
- 8:38Speaker 2: to take this one.
- 8:39Speaker 3: I really don't.
- 8:40Speaker 2: They can apply for money from the government US taxpayers
- 8:46Speaker 2: to pay them because they were treated so horribly by
- 8:51Speaker 2: the Biden administration.
- 8:52Speaker 4: They that to be hanged, not to get money. My
- 8:56Speaker 4: own personal opinion.
- 8:58Speaker 2: It's it's just now he said, who was it was
- 9:01Speaker 2: the p t hexset or was it Todd Blanche? Asked
- 9:04Speaker 2: by Congress I think it was Todd Blanche and asked,
- 9:08Speaker 2: how is this possible? Well, anybody can make the claim,
- 9:12Speaker 2: any American can make that claim.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Like democrats.
- 9:16Speaker 2: You think there's going to be one Democrat that's going
- 9:18Speaker 2: to make the claim, any Democrat that was put in jail,
- 9:21Speaker 2: anybody by the Biden administration. Can you imagine. That's the
- 9:26Speaker 2: part that's so scary. I have to tell you, I
- 9:30Speaker 2: was stunned last night. I really was.
- 9:31Speaker 3: I was stunned with this.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I was stunned with the caving of the US goverment
- 9:37Speaker 2: is not a caving of the US government. It's the
- 9:38Speaker 2: US government under the thumb of the president, which clearly
- 9:43Speaker 2: proves to me and improves to many of us that
- 9:46Speaker 2: this is a man who is going to run the
- 9:49Speaker 2: country exactly as he wants to run the country. There
- 9:51Speaker 2: will be almost no opposition, or there'll be democratic opposition.
- 9:54Speaker 2: But as long as he has the Republicans on his side,
- 9:57Speaker 2: and he has the Republicans on his side or percent,
- 10:01Speaker 2: there is no Republican that's going to vote against anything
- 10:04Speaker 2: that he does.
- 10:05Speaker 3: They'll be primaried out.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Look what happened to Cassidy, Look what happened to Massey
- 10:10Speaker 2: last night. There are no Liz Cheneys in Congress or
- 10:16Speaker 2: in the Senate.
- 10:16Speaker 3: They don't exist.
- 10:18Speaker 2: And I'll tell you what else is gonna happen, and
- 10:19Speaker 2: I'll talk more about this. There will be a concerted
- 10:23Speaker 2: effort to overturn the twenty six twenty second Amendment to
- 10:30Speaker 2: give any person running for office the ability to become
- 10:36Speaker 2: president for life. Now do I think it's going to happen?
- 10:42Speaker 2: You know what I would have said, there's no chance.
- 10:45Speaker 2: But you know, when Trump says you will vote for
- 10:49Speaker 2: the overturning of the twenty second Amendment, or you will
- 10:52Speaker 2: not be elected. I will primary you out. And the
- 10:57Speaker 2: threat is real. The threat is absolutely real. That's what
- 11:01Speaker 2: I think is going to happen. Now, Again, are the
- 11:03Speaker 2: numbers or such that? I don't think the numbers make
- 11:06Speaker 2: it possible, But I think I think it has gone.
- 11:09Speaker 2: That argument has gone from utterly ridiculous to you're going
- 11:14Speaker 2: to see a large number of Democrats of Republicans making
- 11:18Speaker 2: that argument. You'll see that's I was stunned last night,
- 11:22Speaker 2: just donned.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Okay.
- 11:24Speaker 5: Delaying the raises a thirty dollars minimum wage for hotel
- 11:27Speaker 5: and airport workers is being delayed la elected officials. City
- 11:32Speaker 5: Council persuaded a group of business leaders to drop a
- 11:35Speaker 5: ballot measure that would have eliminated the city's business tax,
- 11:38Speaker 5: which could have cost a city like eight hundred million dollars,
- 11:41Speaker 5: because they were saying, if you're going to raise these
- 11:43Speaker 5: minimum wages, we're going to put this on the ballot.
- 11:46Speaker 5: And so city council approved an eighteen month delay which
- 11:49Speaker 5: will postpone the wage increase for the hotel and airport
- 11:55Speaker 5: workers until after the Olympics.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Yeah, boy, do I have mixed feelings about this one,
- 12:00Speaker 2: because do they deserve a living Wageah, I don't even
- 12:04Speaker 2: know if thirty dollars an hour covers your basic needs
- 12:09Speaker 2: in southern California because it's so expensive to live. So
- 12:13Speaker 2: I'm a big fan of making enough money that you
- 12:15Speaker 2: can keep yourself okay, all right, So with that, of
- 12:19Speaker 2: course you would. So with that in mind, the other
- 12:21Speaker 2: side of it, thirty dollars an hour is killing a
- 12:25Speaker 2: lot of businesses. Restaurants are going under. It's our the
- 12:29Speaker 2: way it works. Our economic model is flawed. In Europe,
- 12:34Speaker 2: people who are servers make enough money to where they
- 12:38Speaker 2: could live. It's a real job, and here it doesn't happen.
- 12:43Speaker 2: And just the whole economic model has reached the point
- 12:46Speaker 2: where when you have this kind of cost of living,
- 12:50Speaker 2: it just doesn't work.
- 12:51Speaker 3: It's very, very tough, and I don't know if there's
- 12:53Speaker 3: an easy answer to this.
- 12:54Speaker 4: Now, how do you fix that?
- 12:55Speaker 3: I don't know. It's so fundamental, all right.
- 13:00Speaker 4: Wow, what a slap in the face. You've got three
- 13:02Speaker 4: members of the LA City Council and this is the progressive,
- 13:06Speaker 4: progressive side. Even more progressive than that, these are your
- 13:11Speaker 4: Democratic Socialists of America. So you've got Unicis Hernandez, you
- 13:18Speaker 4: got Isabelle Herrado, You've got Hugo Soto Martinez, all members
- 13:22Speaker 4: of the DSA, and they are putting their support behind
- 13:27Speaker 4: Mayor Karen Bass, not Nitthi Eramen.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Yeah, who was an ally of theirs. Oh yeah, well
- 13:34Speaker 2: she's all. But I think what happened is I think
- 13:39Speaker 2: she crossed the line when they walk into her office
- 13:41Speaker 2: and there is a signed photo of Karl Marx on
- 13:44Speaker 2: the wall.
- 13:45Speaker 4: I think trying to ban grilling on red flag days.
- 13:50Speaker 4: That did a lot of people out. Yeah, they'll mess
- 13:52Speaker 4: with my grilling lady. In southern California, dummy.
- 13:58Speaker 5: The power of Trump on full display. Republicans backed the
- 14:01Speaker 5: president or backed by the president rather one or finished
- 14:05Speaker 5: in first place in primaries in Georgia, Alabama, and Kentucky.
- 14:10Speaker 5: And Kentucky was the big one because that's where Representative
- 14:13Speaker 5: Thomas Massey is losing his seat, ousted by a Trump
- 14:18Speaker 5: backed candidate.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:20Speaker 2: We're going to talk a lot more about this coming
- 14:23Speaker 2: up in the seven o'clock hour, because there are level
- 14:25Speaker 2: upon level on this one.
- 14:29Speaker 4: All right. Report finds I don't know how, but more
- 14:34Speaker 4: than a year after the deadly eaten fire causing nineteen
- 14:39Speaker 4: deaths in Alta, Dina. This new outside review of firefighters
- 14:44Speaker 4: decision making has been concluded, and the conclusion is there
- 14:49Speaker 4: was no failure by La County fire officials in ordering evacuations,
- 14:54Speaker 4: even though you had the La Times over the last
- 15:01Speaker 4: sixteen months reporting on mounting evidence that fire was threatening
- 15:05Speaker 4: West Altadena well before evacuation alerts were issued. There were
- 15:10Speaker 4: nine to one one calls, all kinds of things. But
- 15:14Speaker 4: this new fifty one page report doesn't acknowledge any shortcomings
- 15:19Speaker 4: related to the evacuation alerts got not.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Only the evactuation alerts.
- 15:25Speaker 2: It didn't talk about how many firefighters were there, or
- 15:28Speaker 2: water supply, or decisions that the fire chief made or
- 15:32Speaker 2: didn't make, or money that didn't go to the fire
- 15:36Speaker 2: department as was requested by the fire chief.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Didn't talk about any of that.
- 15:41Speaker 2: It's just the evacuation orders and where they poorly designed
- 15:48Speaker 2: or they just weren't implemented the way they should have been.
- 15:51Speaker 2: That's what the report talks about, and they're saying, yeah,
- 15:53Speaker 2: it was they were.
- 15:54Speaker 3: There's no fault there.
- 15:57Speaker 5: Billy Jean's number one again forty years later, Michael Jackson's
- 16:03Speaker 5: Billy Jean was released in nineteen eighty three, and now
- 16:07Speaker 5: it's back at number one on the Billboard Global two
- 16:10Speaker 5: hundred chart. It's the biggest song in the world. From
- 16:13Speaker 5: May eighth to the fourteenth, the song was streamed over
- 16:16Speaker 5: forty fifty one million times.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Yeah, this is interesting because obviously the Michael Jackson estate
- 16:27Speaker 2: makes millions upon millions of dollars every year because of
- 16:33Speaker 2: the publishing rights and because of just the sale of
- 16:36Speaker 2: records and used in commercials, and then you have this
- 16:40Speaker 2: re release and the money all comes in and there's
- 16:43Speaker 2: no one there to spend it. He's got kids, yeah,
- 16:47Speaker 2: well yeah, but we don't hear about them.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Crazy.
- 16:49Speaker 2: He's got what Paris I think he one of them
- 16:53Speaker 2: is Paris the blanket blanket, and then Peoria I think
- 16:57Speaker 2: he has, and Pacoima I think is one of the
- 17:02Speaker 2: low case.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Yeah, anyway, and there were kids born of a surrogate
- 17:08Speaker 2: by the way, I don't know if you're aware of
- 17:10Speaker 2: that they were surrogate kids.
- 17:14Speaker 4: Was his? Were his Billy Jeans involved in any of that?
- 17:18Speaker 4: That's very strong.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Well, I assume Billy Jean have to be taken off
- 17:22Speaker 2: when he produced.
- 17:24Speaker 4: No I'm just saying, like, are they really blood crows? Crows?
- 17:29Speaker 2: All right, that's enough, you know what you're you're not
- 17:32Speaker 2: allowed to do stuff like that because you up, Yeah,
- 17:35Speaker 2: because we're it's over the top.
- 17:37Speaker 4: So lawsuit was filed in federal court. It accusing Disneyland,
- 17:43Speaker 4: the happiest place on Earth, a violating privacy. And this
- 17:48Speaker 4: has to do with their facial recognition. Of course they
- 17:54Speaker 4: say it. Disneyland says that it helps, you know, move
- 17:58Speaker 4: people through faster. I think it's obviously you know, so
- 18:03Speaker 4: that people can't use other people's tickets or.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Yeah, there's that too. I mean, all of it that
- 18:08Speaker 2: Disney says is true. The problem is the invasion of
- 18:12Speaker 2: privacy argument is also true.
- 18:14Speaker 4: How is it an invasion of privacy because.
- 18:16Speaker 2: They keep because they keep the facial they keep the
- 18:19Speaker 2: facial recognition, and it can be compared to other facial
- 18:24Speaker 2: recognition programs, and it's again your privacy that is quote
- 18:29Speaker 2: being invaded. Now, Disney says it only hangs onto those
- 18:32Speaker 2: that facial recognition your face and your biometrics for thirty
- 18:37Speaker 2: days and a dumpson unless there's a legal issue.
- 18:39Speaker 4: Yeah, but it becomes numbers. It's not just yeah.
- 18:42Speaker 2: But again, but if it's facial recognition, is there a
- 18:45Speaker 2: way to track it down? And that's what this lawsuit
- 18:48Speaker 2: is about.
- 18:48Speaker 4: There's a way to get in without it.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, that's the other thing, without it, right, And
- 18:54Speaker 2: you have to go through, but you have to opt
- 18:56Speaker 2: out of the facial recognition. The default is you go
- 18:59Speaker 2: through the line and get recognition probably tell people better
- 19:02Speaker 2: they could. And that's it, And that's the argument. They're
- 19:05Speaker 2: not saying it shouldn't be used. They're just saying that
- 19:07Speaker 2: the way it is being applied. Also, remember the well,
- 19:10Speaker 2: of course you have those programs that take your face
- 19:13Speaker 2: and can morphew uh into another face. If you actually
- 19:18Speaker 2: look at what Disney is doing, everybody's face becomes mickey.
- 19:23Speaker 2: They wouldn't not Yeah, that would be that would actually
- 19:27Speaker 2: be great.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Well, you know what, Universal takes your fingerprint? I don't
- 19:32Speaker 4: know if they keep it. It's got to be stored
- 19:34Speaker 4: somewhere for it to register.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Don't know.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Can they do it?
- 19:37Speaker 6: Though it's on private property. They can do whatever they want,
- 19:39Speaker 6: can't they.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Oh yeah, they can argue that. They say, if you
- 19:41Speaker 2: don't want to, don't come in. But again, you're talking
- 19:46Speaker 2: about a major public recreational platform or recreational facility. And
- 19:52Speaker 2: that's you know, it would be tough, I think politically.
- 19:57Speaker 6: Aren't they using this everywhere?
- 19:59Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 19:59Speaker 2: Pretty much. It's that's gonna By the way, this argument
- 20:02Speaker 2: is going to die. Gee, personal privacy, where's that?
- 20:06Speaker 4: Now?
- 20:07Speaker 3: Where does that exist anymore?
- 20:08Speaker 5: So it's Disney going to settle it or are they
- 20:10Speaker 5: going to fight it? That's the big question.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know, I don't know. Oh, here's a
- 20:16Speaker 2: fun story out of New York.
- 20:18Speaker 6: Yeah, mind your surroundings, guys.
- 20:20Speaker 5: A woman plunged to her death after stepping out of
- 20:24Speaker 5: her car into an open manhole in midtown Manhattan too.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:29Speaker 5: She stepped out of her Mercedes Ben's suv at West
- 20:32Speaker 5: fifty second and Fifth Avenue just before eleven twenty pm,
- 20:35Speaker 5: stepped out directly into that uncovered manhole, fell about ten
- 20:40Speaker 5: feet down. And then this is the really nasty part.
- 20:43Speaker 5: The steam caused her to go into cardiac arrest and
- 20:46Speaker 5: she died.
- 20:47Speaker 3: And she was screaming, I'm going to die, I'm going
- 20:50Speaker 3: to die.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I mean this is so Imagine that she steps out
- 20:52Speaker 2: of her car, you know how you step out and
- 20:54Speaker 2: you hit the pavement. She went right into a manhole,
- 20:59Speaker 2: an open manhole that New York is saying that a
- 21:03Speaker 2: truck had just run over and dislodged it and flipped
- 21:07Speaker 2: it over. And the defense is going to be I'll
- 21:10Speaker 2: tell you what the defense is going to be is
- 21:12Speaker 2: that from the time the truck dislodged the manhole cover
- 21:15Speaker 2: and she stepped into the manhole, was such a short
- 21:20Speaker 2: period of time that they weren't informed, didn't know, didn't
- 21:25Speaker 2: have the ability to deal with it in terms of time.
- 21:29Speaker 2: And when they were they were notified, they came over
- 21:32Speaker 2: as quickly as you humanly can do. But it's it's
- 21:35Speaker 2: going to be interesting with the design issue. It's going
- 21:37Speaker 2: to be a design flaw. It's going to be the argument.
- 21:40Speaker 4: Talk about there must have been some cameras for them
- 21:44Speaker 4: to be able.
- 21:44Speaker 2: To well, we don't know in real time every manhole
- 21:47Speaker 2: in the in the city.
- 21:49Speaker 4: Well, but there must have been one nearby for security
- 21:53Speaker 4: ad one of the buildings or subject.
- 21:54Speaker 2: No, I'm not hearing, but there no, there's no doubt
- 21:56Speaker 2: that she stepped into an open manhole. There's not gonna
- 21:58Speaker 2: they're not going to refuse that. No, the truck part, Yeah,
- 22:01Speaker 2: the truck part.
- 22:02Speaker 3: And we don't know. It's a time, right, and it's now.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Does that mean that you have to have sensors and
- 22:09Speaker 2: or cameras at every point and enough monitors to.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Work at what's happening?
- 22:14Speaker 2: I've never heard of it. Yeah, what the authorities are saying,
- 22:17Speaker 2: this is very, very tragic. But it looks like just
- 22:20Speaker 2: an accident. And then you hear her as you know,
- 22:23Speaker 2: she goes down saying whoops, no that's not true.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Okay, moving on now.
- 22:30Speaker 4: The silence was like one of those little rubber things
- 22:33Speaker 4: you put between groceries. Yeah, pretty much oating ourselves.
- 22:36Speaker 3: Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.
- 22:38Speaker 4: All right, Senate, you want one more?
- 22:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 4: The Senate yesterday agreed to take up a measure that
- 22:46Speaker 4: would force President Trump to end the warning around without
- 22:50Speaker 4: or win authorization from Congress, which is, you know, the
- 22:54Speaker 4: sixty four thousand dollars question there is how he's moving forward.
- 23:00Speaker 4: So this is a handful of Republicans that joined the
- 23:03Speaker 4: Democrats and pushing this forward. So it was a vote
- 23:06Speaker 4: of fifty to forty seven to advance this resolution, allowing
- 23:10Speaker 4: it to be debated and receive a vote.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Yeah, that's just to go on the floor and debate
- 23:15Speaker 2: it because up to this point they couldn't even do
- 23:17Speaker 2: that because it effectively tells Trump, we have a War
- 23:22Speaker 2: Powers Act and we're not going to violate it, which
- 23:26Speaker 2: sixty days within the start of a conflict or confrontation,
- 23:31Speaker 2: you have to go to Congress for permission. And he said, no,
- 23:33Speaker 2: I don't. I have unlimited power. I can go to
- 23:36Speaker 2: war whenever I want, to clear war whenever I want.
- 23:38Speaker 2: And of course the Republicans backed them up naturally except
- 23:42Speaker 2: for a handful. So now there's enough. Yeah, well it
- 23:47Speaker 2: was fifty. They find they got it with fifty votes
- 23:50Speaker 2: to advance the resolution in order to be debated. It's
- 23:53Speaker 2: still going to lose. It's going to lose as long
- 23:56Speaker 2: as they have Republicans are in power. There's no chance that,
- 24:00Speaker 2: in fact, it is going to win. I don't think so.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Even though there are some Republicans that have voted to
- 24:07Speaker 2: advance it. The phone call is going to come. You
- 24:10Speaker 2: either yank your vote back or you're going to You're
- 24:13Speaker 2: you're going to lose your next election. You'll be wow.
- 24:15Speaker 4: And you imagine setting in a place that is a
- 24:18Speaker 4: single party.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Rule, single man rule, not single party. I was a
- 24:24Speaker 2: single individual just thinking about California sixteen years. Yeah, but
- 24:31Speaker 2: that's a single party party rule. That's single party that's correct,
- 24:35Speaker 2: and it's horrible, and which is why we're the most
- 24:37Speaker 2: liberal state, which is why people look at us askance,
- 24:41Speaker 2: which is why more Yeah, which is by law, by law,
- 24:45Speaker 2: we have to eat tofu turkeys on Thanksgiving.
- 24:49Speaker 5: Schlitz is calling it quits. The beer that made Milwaukee
- 24:54Speaker 5: famous is tapping out after one hundred and seventy seven years.
- 25:00Speaker 4: Was once the.
- 25:00Speaker 5: Best selling beer in the world, but perhaps says the
- 25:04Speaker 5: decision to put Schlitz on hiatus came due to increases
- 25:08Speaker 5: in our costs to store and ship certain products. Also
- 25:11Speaker 5: competition from micro brews and non alcoholic beers, all that stuff.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Okay, let me get this right.
- 25:18Speaker 2: It's the decision is because increases in ore cost to
- 25:22Speaker 2: store and ship certain products like beer. It is a
- 25:26Speaker 2: brewery that owns Schlitz. Thus for starters. Also, I love
- 25:33Speaker 2: the spokesperson and the statement they made. Any brand or
- 25:37Speaker 2: packaging configuration that is put on hiatus is still a
- 25:41Speaker 2: cherished part of our history and hopefully our future. We
- 25:45Speaker 2: continually look for opportunities to bring back beloved brands and
- 25:49Speaker 2: customer feedback is important. Does that mean you're going to
- 25:52Speaker 2: bring back Schlitz. Well, no, not really, but just wanted
- 25:57Speaker 2: to get your hopes up.
- 26:00Speaker 4: I want to hold onto this story because it's going
- 26:02Speaker 4: to be a great obituary for you.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Oh thanks.
- 26:06Speaker 4: After one hundred and seventy seven years, the host that
- 26:09Speaker 4: was once the best in the world has been discontinued.
- 26:14Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty much. It wouldn't be me, but still all right.
- 26:20Speaker 4: A US indictment of former Cuban president Raul Castro is
- 26:24Speaker 4: expected to be announced today in Miami, so Cours. This
- 26:29Speaker 4: is the brother of Fidel They were accused of ordering
- 26:34Speaker 4: the Cuban Air Force to shoot down two civilian planes
- 26:39Speaker 4: belonging to the Brothers to the Rescue nonprofit group which
- 26:46Speaker 4: carried out rescue missions to save Cubans fleeing their homeland.
- 26:50Speaker 4: So that was back in nineteen ninety six.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Yeah, for some reason, the president has a bird about Cuba.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Man just wants to shut down Cuba. And this goes
- 27:02Speaker 2: back to what nineteen ninety six when two of these
- 27:05Speaker 2: planes were shot down, four Cuban Americans were born.
- 27:09Speaker 3: And that's horrible.
- 27:11Speaker 2: It makes me think of the killing of Adnan Kashogi,
- 27:16Speaker 2: the I think Arab American if I'm not mistaken, journalist
- 27:21Speaker 2: who was killed the Turkish embassy under the orders of
- 27:25Speaker 2: the Saudis. That was the given reason. There was no
- 27:29Speaker 2: other and it was an uproar. And you remember when
- 27:33Speaker 2: Mohammed ben Salomon visited the White House and he was
- 27:38Speaker 2: asked specifically the president was there in the Oval office
- 27:40Speaker 2: and was asked, how about Koshogi and the president and
- 27:44Speaker 2: I quote, things happen close.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Quote they do happen, even if they are horrific.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Yes, and an American was, So it's really very selective.
- 27:57Speaker 2: They just doesn't like the communist regime once out for that. Yeah,
- 28:02Speaker 2: I don't understand where Cuba is that much of an enemy.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Cuba wants to have a good relationship with the United States,
- 28:10Speaker 2: but it isn't. It just isn't happening and won't as
- 28:12Speaker 2: long as the Cuban regime is there. And it is
- 28:17Speaker 2: a regime. I mean, there's no question is it common Well,
- 28:20Speaker 2: they say it's communists, but it's you know, you got
- 28:23Speaker 2: Cawstro and then his brother and then the hand selected
- 28:25Speaker 2: president now and so we'll see what happens.
- 28:28Speaker 3: I think we have one.
- 28:28Speaker 5: More umbrellas only if you want to bring a canopy
- 28:34Speaker 5: or a tent or anything like that to Laguna Beach,
- 28:39Speaker 5: don't even think about it because you can't bring it
- 28:41Speaker 5: to the beach with you. The City of Laguna Beach
- 28:44Speaker 5: has updated their municipal code with a new ordinance that
- 28:48Speaker 5: only permits umbrella style shade coverings on most beaches in
- 28:52Speaker 5: the city.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Are you a beachgoer?
- 28:57Speaker 5: No, I don't think I've been to the beach in
- 28:58Speaker 5: about three years, which is it's ridiculous because it's ten
- 29:01Speaker 5: miles from my house.
- 29:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I haven't been in forty years, thirty five years.
- 29:04Speaker 3: I just don't like that. I don't like the beach
- 29:07Speaker 3: never have.
- 29:07Speaker 2: You know, if you want, if you want to feel
- 29:11Speaker 2: that way, you know, just you know, get some sandpaper and.
- 29:14Speaker 3: Rub it up and down your ass.
- 29:15Speaker 4: Crack.
- 29:16Speaker 3: Now, why do you need sand?
- 29:18Speaker 4: Wow, that's all you get from being by the end?
- 29:21Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty much? Yeah, Okay, I think we're done. Okay,
- 29:27Speaker 2: coming up, what happened yesterday? Donald Trump with the IRS
- 29:32Speaker 2: has done the Department of Justice, the politics. I just
- 29:37Speaker 2: yesterday was quite the day, to say the least. We'll
- 29:39Speaker 2: be back with that. KFI Am sixty. You've been listening
- 29:43Speaker 2: to the Bill Handle Show, Catch My Show Monday through
- 29:46Speaker 2: Friday six am to nine am, and anytime on demand
