- 1:00Drama, Darling. Everyone, Welcome back to Drama Darling. Today's episode
- 1:10is going to be with the incredible Caroline Stanberry joining me from Dubai. Caroline.
- 1:17Hi, Yeah, Hi, I've been so excited to do this with
- 1:22you. I have to be honest, I'm oh, oh my god,
- 1:25thank you. Well, clearly I am of yours as well, and I
- 1:29have such a great time. I've had the best time doing impressions of you
- 1:34for a long time, and of course since Ladies of London. Then it
- 1:38was like when that ended, you know, it's so sad. The whole
- 1:41world is still in mourning over that. But thank god we have you back
- 1:46on Dubai and you know, it's great. We're in season two. You
- 1:53are the best part of the show. An is second. But thank god
- 1:59you guys are getting along because I'll tell you what, this is the show.
- 2:02It's you two, and that's what I tune in for. So what
- 2:07you know, being in season two and specifically you and Chanel being on the
- 2:14good foot as it were, how did that change things? How did you
- 2:19guys all of a sudden get to that place? I think what we understood.
- 2:23I mean last season I was kind of not myself anyway. I was
- 2:27doing, you know, getting married. I had done two rounds of IVF
- 2:30and some of these women are quite hard to deal with, as you can
- 2:34imagine, and so I was kind of like just startled all the time.
- 2:39And because I was on all those hormones. I wasn't very funny, and
- 2:44I kind of think it was just going was just so awful to do.
- 2:50And then I think with reunion went so low that I was like, I
- 2:53looked at Diane said, you know, we're either going to have to sit
- 2:55down together and see if you have any common ground, or one of us
- 3:00is gonna end up dead, probably me. So we went for a drink
- 3:06and actually I think we understood we we had a lot more in common,
- 3:10believe it or not, than we thought. And I think the telephone phone
- 3:15tag that gets done in Housewives, the only housewives can do, was what
- 3:21was keeping us apart. So many people pick up the phone don't say anything,
- 3:24but I heard this and actually, like idiots, none of us say
- 3:29anything right, right, And then the game of telephone begins. I mean,
- 3:31it's almost the worst. I feel like Brooks is the one who is
- 3:37always in the center of that storm. She is the eye of the storm
- 3:40of the telephone game. And I'm like, we're not you're not filming,
- 3:45we can't see what's going on. And then all of a sudden she shows
- 3:49up and we find out that she called Lisa, and Lisa heard from you.
- 3:54Or you know, and it's the story's all wrong. Always hard to
- 4:00catch up when she does it, you know, off camera, so hard.
- 4:02But it's hard for us too because we're like, we'll have left you
- 4:05know, like maybe a lovely group setting and thinking everything's all right. By
- 4:10the morning it's a complete hit show and you're like, oh my god,
- 4:13what am I cleaning up? And why to the productually? What's funny?
- 4:17In later Sorry and Ladies of London, we weren't allowed to call each other
- 4:21wow, which was actually better. So if we had an argument or whatever
- 4:26we actually had, like the producers were more like Nanny's so that we would
- 4:30actually have to leave off and start again where we left off, which is
- 4:33so much better. I think I totally agree. I was going to ask
- 4:38you, what did the producers say when now you're in the middle of this
- 4:42telephone game and they've got to edit around that. What do they say to
- 4:45you? Do they ever say you guys can't do this? Well? They
- 4:48get very annoyed, obviously, because it's very hard to explain to an audience
- 4:51why something has one hundred percent I mean, it's not you know a little
- 4:55bit, it's like it can be you know, three sixty change in an
- 5:00hour or you know, overnight and where they've left you and they don't have
- 5:03any of the footage of it, and they're like, Okay, this is
- 5:05a disaster for us because we have to tell the audience the story somehow,
- 5:11and none of it makes sense because it's like he said, she said this,
- 5:14and then you know, all hell breaks loose. So it's very hard
- 5:16for them. It's much better that we leave it where it was. But
- 5:19I think we were a much more civilized cast. Yeah, oh well,
- 5:25yes, absolutely, we did what we were told. You did what you
- 5:29were told, like good school girls, Yes, boarding school there you are.
- 5:33We're all used to being you know, if we're not being told what
- 5:35to do, we don't really know what to do, honestly, and I
- 5:38mean honestly. The structure, the strict structure of a boarding school or anything,
- 5:44if as it were. I find that a structure can be a good
- 5:48thing because obviously, you know, pushing against that on some level is the
- 5:54exciting part, because if the stakes are high, then you know, you
- 5:59know what you're up again against. I do want to talk to you about
- 6:01the boarding school thing. So I had a friend that went to boarding school
- 6:06in high school, not when she was your age, but and she chose
- 6:12to go, and I was like so jealous because I thought it was so
- 6:15cool and I used to go visit her and I just used to think it
- 6:16was so exclusive and so exciting. And but I can't imagine, like I
- 6:23have a seven year old daughter right now, and so you were is it
- 6:27eight when you first went away? Six? Oh? My crazy. I
- 6:34don't think they do that anymore. To be honest, I don't think you
- 6:38go that early. But it's yeah, I was like, you know,
- 6:43six or seven, not not not later. So you know, it's crazy.
- 6:48Most of the people I know that went to boarding school are still My
- 6:53brother went to eat, you know and eat and he said his friends are
- 6:56still in therapy. It's a terrible thing to do, really. But again,
- 7:00you know, this is not a conversation that she's funny watching, like
- 7:03you know, Kathy Hilton talking to Paris. She doesn't want to talk about
- 7:06it. My mother is exactly the same because you know, I actually believe
- 7:11they did They were doing the right thing they were doing at the time.
- 7:14You know, you do what you did if you were rich back then.
- 7:18You know, everyone did it. It's like you home, you may as
- 7:23well be poor. So you know, it was just it was the done
- 7:27thing, and they you know, it's very hard to make them apologize or
- 7:30understand for something they thought they were giving you the best. So and it's
- 7:34at some stage they're just too old to understand or change or and there's nothing,
- 7:40there's nothing that they're not going to be able to take it back.
- 7:42So it's not a conversation that you need to really have. I mean I
- 7:45had a little bit of one on the Housewives, and it was it was
- 7:47very funny. I don't know if it's been out yet on the season.
- 7:51Oh, you do talk to them, it really I do talk to my
- 7:56mother and you're going to die laughing when you see her response because it's just
- 8:00it's mind blowing and I'm like, no, that's not really how it was.
- 8:03But anyway, yeah, wow. I mean I think a bit of
- 8:07me with my mum in Ladies of London. We're very funny. We're really
- 8:11good at speaking about not much. Did she Was she at boarding school as
- 8:18well? Were your parents? Yes? And you know, fiercely independent.
- 8:24I think her father died when my mum was very young and all at boarding
- 8:28school. Basically saying daddy, Dad, you know, died and you know,
- 8:33don't worry, darling. Continue. So you know, my mother's up
- 8:37very much the same way. So you know, it just is. It's
- 8:41a very British, it is. I think it's changing now, it really
- 8:45is. None of us have sent our kids to boarding school. My brothers
- 8:48haven't, you know, and they all went, So nobody has sent sent
- 8:52their kids. Isn't that funny? It's wild, I mean, because it's
- 8:56going to be a whole different era, a whole new generation of when people
- 9:00with feelings imagine that, how do you feel you're gonna be, you know,
- 9:07one of the few left with no feelings. That's gonna be weird.
- 9:09I know. No, I actually think you are filled with amazing feelings and
- 9:16clearly you you know, whatever boarding school was good or bad, it's made
- 9:22you an incredible human being. It's it's what I'm sure gives you, has
- 9:28given you the strength to be who you are. And oh but also your
- 9:37one second, my son is calling hang on towards me, speaking of your
- 9:41kids. Yeah, I'm all resumed, but I think that it's it's made
- 9:48you who you are, and you are a personality that we watch on television
- 9:54who we love and admire. And I think that what you do with your
- 10:00with your strength and call it what it is, if you're burying it through
- 10:03humor or whatever. I mean, who isn't doing that? You know how
- 10:07everyone has their stuff and everyone is coping. And I also think that it's
- 10:13a story to be told. You know, I would be interested. Have
- 10:16you ever thought about writing a book about your experience in boarding school or that
- 10:22the culture of that. I haven't, actually, and maybe I should.
- 10:28You know, you're right, I don't. I'm not very good, and
- 10:31I think that that's something that I have. I don't have the best memory,
- 10:37and I wonder whether that's from blocking it out, to be honest,
- 10:41So that would be odd for me. I mean, I can I can
- 10:45think of certain I mean, And what's crazy is I spent from six to
- 10:48eighteen there, so like most of my life, and I do remember,
- 10:54like things like I used to come home twice a year in the end,
- 10:58you know, three times a year. That was it because it was so
- 11:00hard to go back, you know. I used to hate going home and
- 11:03then having to go back, so I just thought I'd stay. And you
- 11:05know, once you're used to it. You know, once you're in it,
- 11:09you kind of get used to it. But it's it's a really hard
- 11:13hard thing to do because it's like being in the army. You're woken up,
- 11:18but with a gong. You know, you're told. So it's like
- 11:20a shock every morning. You never prepare yourself to get Someone comes and bashes
- 11:26a gold room and then you all line up and it's like, you know,
- 11:30you all march down to the to the It's very English. It's a
- 11:33very very weird way to grow up, and you know, yeah, and
- 11:37I can't really explain it. I probably should write a book, but I
- 11:41mean, I I you know, I would people be interested in that?
- 11:43I don't know absolutely. I mean also if it's becoming a bygone era of
- 11:50sending your kids away that young, I mean I am very intrigued by that
- 11:54personally. So look, you've got one one audience member that you could sell
- 12:01a book to. That's me. That's one book sold. So one book
- 12:03sold. But when you did, didn't you do like a hypnotherapy thing?
- 12:11Yes? So how did that go? What was that? Like? Well,
- 12:18she's amazing. So basically I've met Princess Diana, you know, a
- 12:22few times, because my son's my sons, my brothers were in the same
- 12:26class as William and Harry. And she's she's come to our house a few
- 12:31times and she was gorgeous. But she was Diana's, uh, Diana's hypnotherapist
- 12:39for many years and just got this very calm way about her. I mean,
- 12:43I don't know, you know, like I think it's it's just the
- 12:46state where you sort of remember things and she asks you specific questions. It's
- 12:50sort of it's it's a very interesting you learned some things, like I learned
- 12:56the way why I am the way I am where you know, there's a
- 13:00I have two kinds of Carolines where I have a weekend carolineus. I'm always
- 13:03looking for the weekend for a good time, Like I get through things and
- 13:05then I look for the happy times because that's what I used to do at
- 13:09school, you know. And there are I'm very very tough. I don't,
- 13:15you know, show my emotions too much. So when I've made a
- 13:16decision, maybe I'm a bit like a man, you know, Like when
- 13:20I've made a decision, I've made a decision. No matter how hard,
- 13:22I can move forward. But I think that's because I've always been. You
- 13:26know, when you're in boarding school, no one's coming to help you through
- 13:28things, right, so you get very buying and by yourself and solving your
- 13:33own problems. Even if you're in floods of tears, you're solving your own
- 13:37problems and working them out for yourself. So I will thank boarding school for
- 13:41that, because nothing has killed me yet, and I get through everything because
- 13:45I can lie back and sort of helicopter a situation in my own head.
- 13:48I don't need a million opinions. I'll come out and go I do.
- 13:54I love that. That is, honestly such a gift to have the independency,
- 13:58the strength within and when most people would just fold and not know what
- 14:03to do or crumble. I've never done hypnotherapy before, always been a little
- 14:11interested. It's kind of like one of those things where I'm like, well,
- 14:15if I don't believe in magic, how's it gonna work? You know
- 14:18what I mean? I don't either, But she's there's something. If you
- 14:22ever want an introduction, I'll introduce you with pleasure. She's wonderful. She's
- 14:26my neighbor. Weirdly wow, so moved here as well. So I absolutely
- 14:31love her and I see a lot of her, so that's great. What
- 14:35was it like meeting Princess Diana and in her coming to your house? I
- 14:41mean I was so young. We used to have she used to come like
- 14:45I remember one time she came back from Ludgrove with the boys and they were
- 14:48so that she was running around the pool. She was really fun. You
- 14:50know, it was a time where she had the really and you know,
- 14:54just blue jeans, white shirts, and she was just running round our pool
- 14:56out in had an indoor pool. She's just very very nice, very you
- 15:01know, gorgeous human. So she was just like a regular mom that was
- 15:05coming over for a play date, completely regular mom. But we grew up
- 15:11like that. You know. I've had the pleasure of like meeting most of
- 15:15the royal family and the Queen everybody, you know, like very very lucky,
- 15:18and they are all when you're put in front of them, they are
- 15:22normal human beings. It's like you know, fries, they eat breathing,
- 15:26just like all of us. When she was at your house, do you
- 15:31have to do anything special? Like do you have to do a curtsy or
- 15:33a bow or anything like that? And we always did that, always curtsied
- 15:37and you know, I always like, no matter what I've been to Sandrum
- 15:41and all of that, always curtsy and be, you know, have the
- 15:46what do you call it, the etiquette to sort of greet people the right
- 15:50way and then you're normal. Gosh, that's a wild And at that point,
- 15:54where was she in her life with so she obviously divorced. The boys
- 16:02were at lud Grove, So that's the first school, so that's like they're
- 16:06not even they haven't left for the secondary. So that's up into twelve,
- 16:08isn't it. So then now my brothers were there there. I'm forty eight,
- 16:14so I mean, it's a long time ago. It's when she had
- 16:15the short curly hair. You remember when she had the like short back and
- 16:22wow, like not the bob but the short back. Oh my god,
- 16:26I don't know how old I must have been, maybe twelve. Wild just
- 16:30wild. I mean it's so cool. So all right, let's kind of
- 16:37pivot back into to Dubai. So season when you were saying season one,
- 16:45you weren't really yourself. I guess now that you're explaining it, like,
- 16:51looking back, I believe what you're saying obviously, But to me, I
- 16:56was just like, oh, thank god, Caroline's back, and you did
- 16:57seem you know who you are and all that stuff. But you know,
- 17:00I didn't realize did you share with us that you were going through IVF at
- 17:04that time? No, not really. And the girls, I mean the
- 17:08girls knew, but they never really asked. I mean the thing is again
- 17:11else I didn't get on so well with last season, and I think,
- 17:15you know, that's quite personal obviously, you know sometimes when you're with they,
- 17:23you know, when we were in the desert for the finale, I'd
- 17:26taken my injections there, but you know, you're not in the best of
- 17:30moods when you're you know, pumped full of hormones. I mean, I
- 17:33think I got fifteen eggs, so I was basically, we're not even a
- 17:37cow get to be a dog giving birth to fifteen puppies. So like I
- 17:45was really uncomfortable. I'm a bit rumpy, you know, I think,
- 17:49see me a bit more relaxed now, right, Yeah, it makes sense
- 17:53when I did IVF also, so I get it. And I mean to
- 17:59be filled and having to like get ready and just look great. When you
- 18:04do, you feel like you're carrying a round of litter, Like you're carrying
- 18:08around a litter of puppies when you're gotta add in you know, two or
- 18:15three women that want to fight with you at the time, and you're like,
- 18:17okay, you know, I mean literally you want to murder yourself anyway.
- 18:19So, you know, I think I went into like there are some
- 18:23scenes where I just don't talk, which is just unlike me, you know
- 18:27if you know. So I was just so silent and then the producer would
- 18:30be like, you've got to actually say something. I got lovely, Dad
- 18:33just got this conversation makes so much sense now, yeah, yeah, so
- 18:37I now I think, you know, in this season. What I mean
- 18:41is obviously I was me in the last season, but I'm just more relaxed.
- 18:45You'll see, like, you know, I've got the eye roll.
- 18:48I'm just back. I'm like whatever. I can take anything at this point,
- 18:52but bring it on. I think when you're pumped full of hormones.
- 18:55You know, I was scared that I was just going to start crying when
- 18:56they said hello to me, disastic because that's not who I am. No,
- 19:02people would be like, oh my god, who is this person?
- 19:04Well, exactly like on the island when I was crying, you know what
- 19:07I mean. Like, who is this person? Yes, well it was
- 19:11kind of nice to see. I mean, it's always nice to see different
- 19:15emotions and different sides. But now we know, and you're right, there
- 19:18is a vast difference between last season and this season. I'm glad you got
- 19:22through that. Well, I didn't even know I had tear ducts till lift.
- 19:29Well, are you sure they weren't installed when you had your facelift?
- 19:32Well that was before, wasn't it. But no, that's true. Well,
- 19:37before we continue talking about facelifts and other things with Caroline Stanbury, let's

- 22:18It's so great because it doesn't look like you really did anything. That to
- 22:25me is and I don't want to like be I don't want to necessarily be
- 22:29like comparing and contrasting facelifts. But there are other housewives that we've seen do
- 22:33it, and you can tell right away, even after their face has settled
- 22:38in, that they've had a facelift. I cannot tell with you. Where
- 22:44did you get yours done? Was it in Dubai? Was it in Los
- 22:48Angeles? Oh? It was yes. I went to BRAG and landed it
- 22:55back in LA at like one in the morning, and by five am I
- 22:59was on the table. Crazy. Wait, you went to Bravo con and
- 23:03then you went from So you went from Vegas and then you went to LA.
- 23:07The next morning you were on the table at five am. Yeah.
- 23:10Yeah, you should get a raise just based on that. Now that's commitment.
- 23:15You're like, I'm not wasting any time, you know, that would
- 23:18be great. So wait, okay, so you got your face lift in
- 23:22LA. Who was the doctor that did it? A guy called Steve Kim.
- 23:27And actually I'll tell you why I chose him. I mean, he's
- 23:30not a named surgeon. It's just that cat sadly used him and I think
- 23:34she looks unbelievable and normal. You know, when you go to a I
- 23:38mean you may not know, because I'm sure you haven't looked into facial surgery.
- 23:41But if you go to a surn I do. Yeah. Well,
- 23:45normally you go into their room and they kind of show you all these women
- 23:49sixty years and plus. Right, that's not me. So how do you
- 23:55choose which one looks good? Of course they look great now, but like
- 24:00you know, they don't look like me at the beginning, so you know,
- 24:03it's people that really needed it. So I didn't really you know,
- 24:06I had like my neck was going, this was coming down. And then
- 24:10I saw cats and I was like, well, she's same age as me.
- 24:14She looked great. She just you know, needs aug and she looks
- 24:18unbelieva. It's her, but twenty years younger. She looks incredible. So
- 24:25what is the decision that, Like, because you're on the very young side
- 24:29of getting a facelift, So why did you decide to do that? If
- 24:33you don't mind me asking, because you've been very open and transparent, which
- 24:37I love, by the way, do you mind me asking you some questions
- 24:40about it? Everywhere I think forty million people watched my facelift somehow not realize
- 24:45that, but apparently women all want to do it, and they you know
- 24:48that. I get so many questions every day because you know, I'll tell
- 24:52you what made me do it. One is I saw I had terrible,
- 24:56like Drewpy eyelids, So you know when you see that, all those like
- 25:00even now when you see this season, it's my old face, so you'll
- 25:04see the really bright eye shadows. They do all that to kind of open
- 25:07my eyes because they were looking so close. So I wanted that off desperately,
- 25:11And that's life changing. I don't even need the makeup anymore. Like
- 25:15I can wear no makeup. I've never been able to do that because the
- 25:18makeup hit the gels coming down, it may hit them on the neck and
- 25:23all of this, and it's just now I feel just I just need a
- 25:27little bit of makeup, tiny bit of eye shadow, Like I mean,
- 25:30wait, you see me reunion compared to the other girls, I'm going to
- 25:33look like I've got no makeup on. I'm going to do no makeup makeup.
- 25:37Yes, you're gonna be like the Pam Anderson of Dubai. Yes,
- 25:41exactly. Housewives because you know, Housewives. It's always so much that song.
- 25:47Yes, it's so much. I just like so when I look at
- 25:51you, I absolutely see you know you're refreshed, but I would never know
- 25:56that you had a facelift. So my question is you know the area,
- 26:00So if you're watching this, the area right here on your neck that like
- 26:03you start to see the lines come down and this lighting, the lighting I
- 26:07have is really good, so you can't really quite see it. But the
- 26:11lines here, like, does it do like does it fix that? Or
- 26:17just the lines in your neck, like the wrinkles I'm talking about the sagging
- 26:21skin under the chin. No, it does fix that because it comes that
- 26:26they pull up behind your ear, okay, and did they pull up over
- 26:29your k eyes too? That's no. I didn't touch up there, and
- 26:33I think that's why I look normal. I didn't touch my eyebrows at all.
- 26:37And I think the moment you do that, you begin to look a
- 26:38bit weird. I left all of this like this, and then they just
- 26:44took off the eyelids but straight, and then all of this neck deep lane.
- 26:48But apparently it's still called a full facelift. By the way, I
- 26:52think that's just called an eyebrow lift, which I didn't do. Okay,
- 26:56And so if you've seen Jill's Erin's facelift, I mean I saw she was
- 27:00bandaged. I haven't seen the finals. Is it good? Okay? Yeah?
- 27:03No, I because that's what I was going to say, you know,
- 27:07to compare and contrast, because she did. She must have done up
- 27:10here because that's why it looks so different. And hers hasn't settled in yet.
- 27:14So I don't really don't know if the final product Mu's look crazy right
- 27:17now, probably, but it will go down. I when I have based
- 27:21one for the first few weeks, obviously you're you're so tight it's crazy because
- 27:26and he said to me, you're going to feel like that because we have
- 27:30to do that because you're so swollen. So when the swelling goes down,
- 27:33otherwise your skin is going to be too stretched. So they have to make
- 27:37it super tight. They took three and a half inches off my neck shut
- 27:41it right now? Yeah what so like I'm standing in the oh, there's
- 27:48millimeters three and a half inches. But you know what else they did.
- 27:52They took four and a half hours to do mine because they took out all
- 27:56my fillers, everything, so everything is mean they take out your fillers.
- 28:03Yes, so I've done all my jaw for so many years to make my
- 28:07jaw you know, really strong and pronounced with piller. So of course that's
- 28:12why they must have got so much off my my. Oh yes, of
- 28:17course, now it's my jaw, and you know it's it's the best thing
- 28:25I've ever done. If you're thinking about it, I am not going to
- 28:26talk you out of it. And I don't mean you, I mean any
- 28:29women living. I think, if you want to do it, this is
- 28:33not only is it the perfect age because you don't look really weird, you
- 28:37know, suddenly you know you've got a sagging face, and then the next
- 28:40day you look like, you know, twenty years younger. I didn't want
- 28:42my children to feel that I look different or to get scared, and I
- 28:48just think, you know, I look fresh and natural. I really do.
- 28:51I mean, I you know, nobody even like nobody has said that
- 28:55I'm delusional. No, no, not at all. This is this That's
- 29:00why I really love my One of my co hosts and I always talk about
- 29:03how we appreciate when a housewife is transparent about the things that they do and
- 29:08what they're up to. And what they're into, because you can't really hide
- 29:11anything from the cameras, for one, although you could have because yours is
- 29:17so natural looking. But that's why I appreciate you talking about it, because
- 29:21you know, women should feel empowered to do the things that they want to
- 29:23do. And that's why we watch a lot of these shows too, as
- 29:27it's aspirational. I also don't think that you know, doing what I do
- 29:33with a podcast and all of that, and you know, to tell women
- 29:37that this is what a normal woman looks like at forty eight would be,
- 29:41you know lying. I mean I still have you know, my hands are
- 29:45aging. You know that that is just what's going to happen. So you
- 29:49know, I want to be honest. If these things are available, I
- 29:52mean obviously I know it is expensive, and I know how that sounds,
- 29:56but they are available and it can be done. Because I did not know
- 30:00what a facelift was really, I didn't know anyone that's had one other than
- 30:06seeing cats. I just knew that I wanted to do it eventually, I
- 30:10you know, and I just went for it. And I can't tell you
- 30:12how happy I am. Wow, now that you've got your refreshed and rejuvenated.
- 30:19What is the status with the surrogacy and the IVF and everything with the
- 30:26baby because we're left off in this past season with you guys in your new
- 30:32home. You've got a baby's room in the basement and I'm just kidding on
- 30:38the first floor with my other children. They're next to me and I can
- 30:42hear them screaming, don't worry, but I don't know. It's still it's
- 30:49ongoing. Now we're looking for surrogate. It's become legal here in Dubai.
- 30:55I no way, are you serious? When did that happen? Literally weeks
- 31:00to go? That's it? Like, my gosh, that is unbelievable.
- 31:04Yeah, it is. I mean, Dubai is really coming on leaps and
- 31:07bounds. And that's what's so interesting about what you're seeing because as the show
- 31:11unfolds, so much is changing for Dubai. You know, we are one
- 31:15of the first ever reality shows, and sarrogacy, living with a man when
- 31:19you're unmarried, all of these things have changed which you couldn't do before.
- 31:23So it's a fascinating time to follow some you know, a backdrop like Dubai,
- 31:27and of course it's the number one tourist destination in the world right now.
- 31:32So everybody is moving to Dubai for like god knows what. So it's
- 31:36amazing. There's seventeen million visitors last year. Wow. But you know,
- 31:41the surrogacy thing, it's a big decision, you know, it's really,
- 31:45really, really hard. I wish I could tell you. I'm going through
- 31:48the motions and we're looking, definitely looking, and we have the embryo.
- 31:52Sergia would like to do another round of IBF. I'm not really sure.
- 31:56I mean, I don't even know what that would do to the facelift because
- 31:59I I put on eighteen pounds with the last one, which is what it
- 32:02up to. Zempic. I'm sure you know about that. That's oh,
- 32:06that's right, yes, yes, of course. Actually it wasn't so Zempic.
- 32:09I'm going to correct. That was Maunjaro, I think, And then
- 32:12I tried Trapezia too, but they all do the same kind of thing.
- 32:15But I think I had problems with them, you know, not feeling well
- 32:21on o Zempic. But you know, I lost all the weight afterwards and
- 32:25it was an ordeal. It did not drop off. I mean, when
- 32:28I was in my thirties, I could use weight just by you know,
- 32:30looking at a lettuce. Leave now it's you know, it's so hard,
- 32:36it's so hard. And I looked like I was on a boat with Sergio.
- 32:38I looked like I ate him. It was the daily mail that kicked
- 32:42me, kicks me into doing something about it. I've never seen any My
- 32:46boat needed in my boat. My bum needed its own boat. My boat
- 32:52needed daily mail. How dare you? Well? You looked great then you
- 32:58look great now. But I again thank you for normalizing this because I think
- 33:04that women, you know, become as we get older, it gets so
- 33:08much harder, especially if you've done IVF, perrymenopausal, menopausal, you name
- 33:15it. And these are all factors that have so much to do with how
- 33:19why you can't lose weight. I read about you talk to women all the
- 33:22time who are like, I'm in the gym, I'm active as hell,
- 33:24it's not coming off, you know. So again this is this is the
- 33:30unfortunately, the type of stuff that we have to deal with as women.
- 33:32So when you now you've gotten your body under control, that's a tough decision
- 33:38if you're going to do IVF again, and you know, the surrogacy thing
- 33:42and of going back my kids at the age where they're all about to leave
- 33:46home. But I understand, you know, I chose a husband who is
- 33:50twenty nine, well you know, twenty nine years old now, and at
- 33:53the end of the day, you know, it's a completely natural thing for
- 33:58him to want to at least have one, and I do understand that,
- 34:00and he would be He's the most loving human on the planet. Like I'd
- 34:05love to give him anything because he's just so sweet, Like I mean,
- 34:08you know, let's face it, Sergia will do all the work happily.
- 34:12Yeah he will. He will, so you know, it's not even even
- 34:16though we joke about it and we make fun of him, he doesn't mind.
- 34:20He's got a really good to the sense of humor and he's self deprecating,
- 34:23and he'll be fine, Like, well he'll be like what's that two
- 34:27men in a baby? He will, he'll be both men, I mean,
- 34:32because I mean he seems fine with being like the number one caregiver.
- 34:38Yes, that's what he wants. Yeah, he's you know, I think
- 34:43Sergio was put on this planet to just give love. That's who he is.
- 34:45And I'm horrible, I'm awful, Like I'll you know, he'll be
- 34:50like he'll be lying in bed in the morning he goes kiss and I'll be
- 34:52like, no, you know, and he'll be like, I never thought
- 34:57i'd be lying next to my wife and he goes with somebody. Oh that
- 35:01was it. We were walking down the street in New York and he went
- 35:05to go and put his arm around me and give me a kiss, and
- 35:07I'm like, oh, get off me, Get off me, And there's
- 35:08a couple behind us. He goes, no, that's my wife. And
- 35:13he's like, because can you imagine what this looks like to other people?
- 35:19You're like, man, do you need some help? Ma'm you know,
- 35:23it's just my absolutely despise him, but I love him to death. I
- 35:30mean it is really it's amazing. The yin and yang that you guys are
- 35:34is something. It's special because can you imagine, like, if you were
- 35:38with somebody who was exactly like you, it would be terrible, And if
- 35:43he was with someone who was exactly like him, it would be nauseating,
- 35:45you know, nauseating. We discussed it all the time. I'm sure there's
- 35:50a happy medium. This is ridiculous. You know. Literally, he's like,
- 35:55can I have a hug? And I'm like, I don't do those
- 35:58this morning and I was like, I just don't do them. I overheat,
- 36:01overheating, get off. And that's literally what I say, I really
- 36:06do, And I'm like, I might be a metopause. Don't touch me.
- 36:09But it's very very very funny, and you know, we we just
- 36:15lean into it now because no one stands our relationship, you know, and
- 36:20that's all right. No one really has to know. And I actually love
- 36:22seeing it. I feel like I do understand it in a way because it
- 36:29does make sense. So when when have you guys already had your reunion?
- 36:35I can't remember. No, we are coming to New York in August.
- 36:38Okay, wow, how will the season continue on? Like at this point
- 36:47we've gotten you know, we're only a few episodes in, so we're seeing
- 36:51obviously the bubbling up between you and Brooks. Lisa is involved in that too.
- 36:59Brooks has got stop with this, like creating drama where there's no drama.
- 37:04Why she wants you into lean to be so like upset at each other
- 37:07is beyond me. Brooks just wants me dead, I think, I mean,
- 37:10it's just like I just I think my favorite scene is when I walk
- 37:15into the party, Hello, hello, and she just goes cunt. I
- 37:21literally haven't done anything. I've said hello. She's a piece of work.
- 37:27But she's really busy. She's working so much. She's working so much.
- 37:30I mean because none of us, no, no, nobody else. She
- 37:34can't even eat. She's like working so much. She just can't eat.
- 37:37Oh, what are we gonna do? But she's got a child, Like,
- 37:40let's give her that. She's got a child, Okay, I will,
- 37:45so she all right, So where do we end? I mean,
- 37:47obviously, I know you can't give spoilers, but where do we see the
- 37:52season go before we get to this reunion? Well, Brooks and I are
- 37:58still alive, so no one died, okay, and you know we're all
- 38:01pretty much in the same place. You'll see it just it escalates quite a
- 38:06lot. We've got our cast trip coming now to Bali, and that's like,
- 38:09I don't know what happened to me. It was like girls gone wild.
- 38:15So I'm excited to watch it with you, but I'm also a little
- 38:20bit nervous because there is a lot and I'm just gonna not spoil it,
- 38:22but there is a lot of wooden penis in it. Wooden Oh my god,
- 38:27is it Tom Sanderval's wooden penis flute. There was no back together.
- 38:32There's no man attached to my wooden penis. Oh good, thank god.
- 38:37By the way, do you watch any other Bravo shows? I watch what
- 38:40I can so. I love Below Deck, I love Captain Sandy Y.
- 38:46Yes. I watch all the Housewives because I'm obsessed. I've always loved Housewives.
- 38:51I mean, I think, as you said, especially with the world
- 38:52being the way it is, it's such a good sort of put on the
- 38:55TV. You don't, you know, you don't really need to listen to
- 38:58everything. You can do other things, catch up. I just love it.
- 39:01I love it. It's back, it's it's it's just so good.
- 39:06And I love all the selling, you know, all the real estate ones.
- 39:08I just you know, I'm about to dive into the new Ryan Surhant
- 39:15Owning Manhattan, that new show on Netflix. Just watched it free. It's
- 39:20good. Oh, really very good. Yeah. I love all the house
- 39:23ones too, because I'm big on, you know, doing, I'd love
- 39:25to have a house show, you know what I wanted to do. I
- 39:29made a trailer for it. You remember who would through the keyhole? Who
- 39:34would live in a house? Like this, No you don't remember that was
- 39:37on. It's like so basically you go around people's houses and you have to
- 39:40guess whose house it is by all the things that are in it. So
- 39:45it was an old show, but it was very big. It was called
- 39:50three through the Keyhole and you got to peek into people's houses, see the
- 39:52way they lived, and then guess the celebrity that lived there. Oh my
- 39:55god, that is so cool. I've never heard of that, do I
- 40:00not? Was it a British show? Maybe it was, come to think
- 40:04of it, Yeah, Through the Keyhole look it up, very very good.
- 40:07I will I would love to see you do any kind of spin off.
- 40:10I think that would be great. I would love to do it.
- 40:14Yeah, how is your house? Sorry? Fish out of water? Imagine
- 40:19throwing me into an American town somewhere, making me like l cows. Okay,
- 40:23so did you must have seen Crappy Lake with Luanne and Sonia. But
- 40:29I would love to do that. That would be perfect. You would be
- 40:31perfect for that, you because they I mean, if they ever do it
- 40:37again, which I think they should, it has to be the right personality
- 40:42and you think about like all the housewives, that would be able to do
- 40:44it, and not a lot would be perfect for that. You. I'm
- 40:47trying to think who else you could be coupled up with. I'll get back
- 40:51to you on that one, but I think that'd be great. Your house
- 40:54looks great. Are we going to see? Wait? Wait, have you
- 40:58started shooting this the next season yet? Third season? No? No,
- 41:02no, we haven't even we're still airing now, so we're not shooting.
- 41:07We don't even know you. They don't tell you if you have even the
- 41:08third season until we're at the end. Okay, but yeah, but my
- 41:13house is very We're in it. Yeah, it's hilarious. There was a
- 41:17guy like in a gas mask stepping over you with your eyemask on, sleeping
- 41:22on the ground. And that's the truth. That's absolutely filmed on Sergio's you
- 41:29know, because the cameras weren't there on his. I because I was so
- 41:32determined to get out of Michael's house and into our house with the kids,
- 41:37you know, it was it was a nightmare because I'd let my apartment go
- 41:42because you know, you have to lease another house for another year or six
- 41:45months, and they said it was going to be two weeks, which turned
- 41:49into two months. Okay, and so I was like, you know,
- 41:53Michael was like, oh, you can stay with me for two weeks.
- 41:55I have a house in Texas. Anyway, it won't be there much.
- 41:59And then when it turned into two months and twenty two boxes and three kids,
- 42:01three dogs, two assistants, a housekeeper, driver, Michael had to
- 42:07move out. I mean the fact that we're still friends and we're about to
- 42:12go to Bali. I can't even tell you. He'd come down and you
- 42:14know, come down in the morning and we would just all be working around
- 42:16his table. The poor man is the saint. So yes, the fact
- 42:21was my room was the last to be ready, but I was just determined
- 42:23to get my kids in and all of us under one roof. Michael,
- 42:29how do you know Michael, You guys go way back, well from when
- 42:32I first moved to Dubai. Yes, he was one of the first brands
- 42:36to hire me, and they always put Caroline's friend. But believe it or
- 42:38not, Michael is one of the most powerful people in the Middle East.
- 42:44Yes, he was the CEO of a public company and he's got a very
- 42:49famous story where you know, there was a the company was six billion in
- 42:53debt. They uncovered nearly seven billion, and Michael took it to profit more
- 42:58in less than two years. The man and is like potus in the country
- 43:01and like, hereamly together. So he's always like, oh here I am
- 43:06all the work I do and I'm just Caroline's friend. Oh my god,
- 43:10Well this is your moment, Michael, You're amazing. Look at you.
- 43:15Wow. Yeah, but that is but he's a housewife now, his housewife.
- 43:21Now he's a friend of Caroline's friend. That's He's like, that's going
- 43:25to be on my tombstone. Well, that's the most important thing, right,
- 43:31Okay, So you do watch housewives. Who are the other housewives in
- 43:36the zeitgeist that you get along with the most in other franchises, Lassa,
- 43:42Pippin, Heather, Debro, Meredith Marsh. I like Teresa, Oh my
- 43:54god, sister in law. It's just Melissa, Yeah, Melissa, Melissa
- 44:00and Joe are lovely. Who else, Oh, Lisa Hutch and Scene.
- 44:10I know so many of them. I really like all of them. That
- 44:13Lisa Rinna in London, I mean not London, Paris. Just now,
- 44:16Oh how's Lisa Rinna? I mean crazy as ever? You know, just
- 44:23died a haveld. She was in Paris, I was at Cochere week,
- 44:28so we had we were at the same dinner. Oh my god, the
- 44:30two of you. Okay, now that I think that we found it,
- 44:36it's you and Lisa Rinner in the fish out of Water thing because your personalities.
- 44:42I mean, She's like, come on, Caroline, let's go hussle,
- 44:45and You're like, do we really have to hustle? I'm too tired
- 44:47to hustle, Lisa, Lisa, I mean that would be I do love
- 44:55and I an imagine I an going around in one of her ball of course,
- 45:00that's a that's a no brainer too. You're right, that's true.
- 45:02That's true. That would be great, although she'd be better in one of
- 45:07those places than I will, like I can't see. Yeah, it would
- 45:10be hilarious. So your podcast is really successful. I love it. I
- 45:16think it's great. Thank you. Divorced not dead, it's now I'm cust
- 45:22and unsensitively. Oh it's switched on, cut and uncensored. Okay, I'm
- 45:25nonsensitive, but yes, that's more current. Yes, and also just because
- 45:30I'm not divorced anymore. I am divorced, right, but it's not and
- 45:36I think you know I'm now discussing everything in my life. So I wanted
- 45:39to open it up a lot more. I think people just you know,
- 45:42I'm known as a divorced guru. Now everywhere I go people throw themselves at
- 45:46me and ask me things about divorce, and I'm like, I'm not a
- 45:49therapist, but I'll do my best. I can only give you my opinions.
- 45:53Oh, Caroline Stanbury is a therapist? Do it different? Do it
- 46:00better? Advice? No? Uh no? Okay, So before I let
- 46:06you go, you had Susan Sarandon on your podcast like a long time ago.
- 46:12How did that happen? Actually? How did that happen? Uh?
- 46:17So? We I had a I had a charity with it's called Brilliant is
- 46:25Beautiful, and Ben Stiller and I were the CoA chairs and yes, and
- 46:31also mad Linstone came and Susan Sarandon came. Wow, No, it was
- 46:38really lovely. There was just it was you should have seen the invitation.
- 46:42I couldn't quite believe my face was next to all of them. It was
- 46:45mad because I put it together and and and it was quite something to see
- 46:51them all with with with me on stage. I was like, how has
- 46:54this happened? And I yeah, I was a massive, massive Susan bad
- 47:01from all her movies. So no that, and so she agreed to do
- 47:07the podcast. So and I think that I woke up in the morning the
- 47:10podcast had gone viral because I don't think she's ever done a podcast, And
- 47:14she texts me afterwards, going, well, thanks a lot, now everyone
- 47:17wants me on their podcast. Did she watch your show? Yes? Yeah,
- 47:23I think she has. But she's funny because I'd be like, oh,
- 47:27shall I get my secretary to speak to your sectory. She's like,
- 47:29I don't have a secretary. Wow, you'll speak to me. And that's
- 47:36quite cool. Yeah, that is cool. I guess it's surprising, But
- 47:39now that I think about it, she does seem like that kind of person.
- 47:43Yeah, very very very sort of like down to earth. Yeah.
- 47:46So when you're you're poised for the reunion, who are you looking the most
- 47:52forward to seeing on? Who are you looking the least forward to seeing?
- 47:57Most forward to look seeing? I am because I think you know, it'll
- 48:01be a more fun time this time around. Yeah, and looking forward to
- 48:08probably Lisa Malone. Wow, Lisa, Okay. You know the thing is
- 48:15with Dubai, the ladies who are doing too much need to do less.
- 48:22And that's that's my opinion. They just need to go with the flow.
- 48:25Do you when you do you feel that in sense that when you're in these
- 48:30scenes, and how how do you wrap your head around it and deal with
- 48:35it? When I mean, actually I kind of know how you deal with
- 48:37it. You're like, I'm not going to deal with this right now,
- 48:38and then you leave, I'm not going to deal with it. It's exactly
- 48:42it. I think, you know, there's nothing, there's no way to
- 48:45change it, right. So I think I sit like this and they're like,
- 48:51you know, and I'm so rich and I'm so this and so that,
- 48:53And I find it so odd because it's never a conversation I've ever had
- 48:58with any other women in my life about how rich we all are. It's
- 49:01like nuts to me. In England, you don't don't discuss things like that.
- 49:06You don't ye pennies. Pennies are in mind. So it's so weird
- 49:15to me. You know, you know, I got that, I got
- 49:19this, I've just got a new car. Great. You know, it's
- 49:22just very weird. But I mean, it just is what it is,
- 49:25and you just have to listen to it. So maybe it's because I'm older
- 49:29as well. I have no idea, and maybe it's because I'm not new
- 49:31to this. Still don't know. Maybe people you know will settle settle in.
- 49:37Do they ever ask you for advice? Like Caroline, you've done this
- 49:39before, you know how this goes you nuts. They haven't even told me
- 49:45I've been on a show before, even though it's airing in America now.
- 49:50None of them, like, they've never said, you know, I've seen
- 49:52your show, want to see your show? No, no, no,
- 49:54no, no, they're not that would like mean giving me a compliment.
- 49:58There's no wow. No, they would acknowledge it. There's no room in
- 50:01their ego for that. Now. I know you talked to your your ex
- 50:06sister in law, Sophie Stanbury. We're about to go on you are.
- 50:13Oh my god, that's so cool. I love that. How she doing?
- 50:16Is she good? She's really really good. She's flying out to meet
- 50:22me in Balley now with her sons. We speak at we with facetiming today.
- 50:27I love Sophie. She's just so so much fun, you know.
- 50:32And Juliette, I speak to everybody on my show. Really yeah, I
- 50:38love them. Marissa, I want to go to her restaurant. You haven't
- 50:44been mm hmm any of them. I cannot believe I've not been to any
- 50:49of them. It's really a shame. How uncool are you. I will
- 50:54set it up anytime you want to go. Really okay, cool? Done?
- 50:59And because I don't think I can make it to do buy anytime soon,
- 51:02well you should, you should? So okay. What about Julie Montague.
- 51:10No, I haven't spoken to her in a quite a long time,
- 51:13but not because there's any ill blood that just you know, we just don't
- 51:16have anything really in common anymore, I presume, not that I mean we
- 51:22did back then. I think you know, she's she's lovely. Yeah,
- 51:24okay, cool, because she's I found I was scrolling through TikTok and like
- 51:30I happened upon one of her her videos. She's like, they're you know
- 51:36how they have that estate the Yeah, so they're still trying to hold it
- 51:39up. Yeah, I mean they just they're they just like drained that lakepool
- 51:45thing and she was just swimming in it, like she was like I swim
- 51:50it every day and like she was just it was just filled with LG and
- 51:53she's like this is just lovely, you know, and it's just like a
- 51:57complete like lily pads are like on her head, you know, and then
- 52:00she has no problem with it. I'm just like, this woman's amazing.
- 52:02And then they did drain it and like redo it, and so they are
- 52:07definitely it looks like they're finally making some headway on that place. Do you
- 52:12know what I loved about Julie's So this is so indicative of an English family.
- 52:16So Julie had no idea. She was going, I'm going to inherit
- 52:20amazing at castle and it's beautiful, and I'm going because it's like the biggest
- 52:25English like con ever. So they basically the parents all like run the estates
- 52:32into the ground. They say, we're leaving it to you. This giant
- 52:37mansion which cost about a million pounds a year to run, if not more,
- 52:40sometimes the garden million pounds and then you know they're all falling down,
- 52:45all the wires need do everything. It's like that terrible thing. What was
- 52:49the renovation movie with Goldie Horn money? And then the kids are like great,
- 52:57they take the keys and the parents take the beautiful cottage at the end
- 53:00and they're like, look it's all yours and that's it, and it's literally
- 53:04like from then on in, it's like they've got to like hustle to keep
- 53:07this thing going because they have no idea. The staffing costs, the electricity
- 53:13that like, I mean literally you sleep and they have to keep the whole
- 53:16house dark, and then they have two rooms with lights on. It's absolutely
- 53:22hilarious. And then people like trapsing through the bottom floor that have paid to
- 53:27come through your home every day. No thank you, No thank you is
- 53:31right. I mean, this is like the I wish that someone would have
- 53:37been on the ground floor to film all of this the last few years because
- 53:40I only saw a few videos and I finally understood what you're saying. Yeah,
- 53:46I think they did. I'm pretty sure she's on Discovery Channel. Have
- 53:52a look. I remember she did a whole thing about the renovation. Go
- 53:55check it out Discovery Channel. Okay, wow, because that, like you
- 54:00said, a million pounds just for the gardens alone. And she's, you
- 54:06know, on any given day she's walking around, she's dressed with like finger
- 54:10gloves because the gardener, she's a pool boy, she's a she's she's the
- 54:16tourist guide. She's selling tea towels. She's like it's like, it's I'm
- 54:22exhausted watching Caroline Brooks. Caroline Brooks needs to go and spend a week with
- 54:29Julie Montague and really see what work is. Yeah, see, get a
- 54:34reality chuck, get out of your glasshouse and then get into that algae infestive
- 54:38pool. Oh, Madverton, that's it, Yes, thank you Mappton.
- 54:44And then we'll discuss who really has it worse. That's right. I mean,
- 54:47god lover that she is, you know, got the energy to do
- 54:51it. I can't believe she's still hanging in there. It's it's unbelievable.
- 54:54So yeah, by a thread, by a thread. It's so funny to
- 54:59watch. She's frazzled. She's frazzled. The hair is like this, it's
- 55:04so funny. She's on steroids, I mean truly, Like she'll go into
- 55:07a room all right now because she's got her American accent but with a British
- 55:15you know, like I've now lived here, so I'm going to adapt.
- 55:17And she's like, we have about seven layers of curtains in this room,
- 55:22so I'm going to pull them back one by one, but then immediately need
- 55:24to shut them or else the heat will remove itself from this room and we
- 55:30will all freeze to death, all right, next room, you know.
- 55:32It's yeah, it's so good. It's remember Julie's falls, her jobs.
- 55:40Yes, the boss, she was amazing. She was amazing to you.
- 55:46Oh my god, you want you on a bit of gossip. You know
- 55:49who might be moving into Dubai. My neighbor Caroline Fleming. Get out?
- 55:55Oh my god. But what's the real reason she wants to be on the
- 55:59show, right, No, that's not the real reason. She's moving anyway,
- 56:02just because Denmark. She's so famous there. It's very very hard for
- 56:07her, and she's met a plastic surgeon and she's very happy, and you
- 56:12know, for a million reasons, Dubai is a better option for her and
- 56:16her son. She was coming to Dubai way before I was. She comes
- 56:21every like at least three times a year. She absolutely loves it. Because
- 56:24her sons were at school, she just couldn't move and now she can.
- 56:29Oh my god. Does Andy Cohen know about this? I don't know if
- 56:34Andy knows, but I will make sure eventually he does all you can.
- 56:38But she will be Can you imagine her head to toe and chanel, you
- 56:44know, looking at the other girls like you know, it will be brilliant.
- 56:49She will. I would love now, that's what I want. Please
- 56:53make that happen. Any kind of yeah, any kind of ladies of London
- 57:00and mash up in Dubai is what I'm here for. Yeah, yeah,
- 57:05no, she's coming. So she's looking at her house in September and it's
- 57:07actually four doors down from mine. It's get it out, no worry,
- 57:12and it's owned by my ex husband to stop it. Yeah, it's really
- 57:17funny. Do you get along with your ex husband? Yes? We do
- 57:23now, thank god. So great. That's great. That's great. I
- 57:30feel like I've kept you way too long, so I'm going to let you
- 57:32go. But everybody check out Uncut and Uncensored Carolines podcast obviously watch Dubai.
- 57:39It's on Tuesday nights on Bravo and anything else you want to mention. No,
