- 0:59Speaker 1: postgame basth bsketball. We have got some college football playoff talk.
- 1:04Speaker 1: The semi finals begin Thursday night at the Fiesta Bowl.
- 1:09Speaker 1: That's ole Miss and Miami. Friday Night's the Peach Bowl
- 1:13Speaker 1: in Atlanta, Oregon in Indiana, And I just figured this out.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Wouldn't it be.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Better for the for the players and the fans that
- 1:24Speaker 1: Oregon and Indiana were playing in the Fiesta Bowl in
- 1:28Speaker 1: Arizona and ole Miss and Miami were playing in the
- 1:33Speaker 1: Peach Bowl. I mean, the answer is obviously yes. Ole
- 1:43Speaker 1: Miss senior quarterback Trinidad Chambliss planning to re sign with
- 1:48Speaker 1: the Rebels, a deal contingent on the NCAA accepting his
- 1:53Speaker 1: eligibility waiver for a sixth year. I'm assuming if they don't,
- 1:58Speaker 1: he will take them to the same way that Rashawn
- 2:02Speaker 1: ag did here at Texas A and M and he
- 2:05Speaker 1: will take them to court in Oxford, Mississippi. Chadlis is
- 2:11Speaker 1: eleven to one as a starter, has thrown for thirty
- 2:15Speaker 1: six hundred and sixty yards twenty one touchdowns, just three
- 2:19Speaker 1: interceptions in his rush for five hundred and twenty more.
- 2:23Speaker 1: He has been a revelation during this football season. The
- 2:27Speaker 1: Aggie basketball team is coming off its first SEC win
- 2:34Speaker 1: in its first SEC game of the year seventy five
- 2:37Speaker 1: seventy two Saturday afternoon over LSU ANM's road gets a
- 2:45Speaker 1: little tougher Tomorrow. They go to Auburn for an eight
- 2:51Speaker 1: o'clock game tomorrow night. That game's on the SEC network.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Then they will return for a home game next Saturday
- 3:00Speaker 1: day against Oklahoma, and we'll look at the rest of
- 3:07Speaker 1: basketball and how it's shaking out for sure, including the
- 3:14Speaker 1: SEC right now. Games Over the weekend, Alabama beat a
- 3:20Speaker 1: struggling Kentucky team Georgia in a crazy overtime win against Auburn.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Vanderbilt still undefeated. Arkansas beat Tennessee by eleven, and the
- 3:36Speaker 1: Piggy people are looking pretty good. Oklahoma took down Ole
- 3:41Speaker 1: Miss by sixteen, Mississippi State down Texas one oh one
- 3:47Speaker 1: ninety eight in overtime, and Missouri got twenty twenty second
- 3:53Speaker 1: ranked Florida seventy six seventy four. In case you missed
- 3:57Speaker 1: that game later on Saturday evening, the SEC Players of
- 4:02Speaker 1: the Week. Mississippi State guard Josh Hubbard, six foot junior
- 4:08Speaker 1: he's not six feet, had a career high tying thirty
- 4:12Speaker 1: eight points in the win over the Longhorns, ten of
- 4:17Speaker 1: them in overtime, and Arkansas guard Darius Acuff is the
- 4:23Speaker 1: Freshman of the week career high twenty nine with four
- 4:27Speaker 1: assists and three boards in the win against Tennessee.
- 4:32Speaker 4: The AP Top twenty.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Five is out, Arizona is on top of Michigan, Iowa
- 4:41Speaker 1: State still unbeaten at fourteen and OH three, Yukon perdue
- 4:48Speaker 1: Duke Houston, Gonzaga BYU and Nebraska, which took down Michigan State.
- 4:59Speaker 4: They have jump in the poll.
- 5:01Speaker 1: They are undefeated at fourteen to oh and as I mentioned,
- 5:06Speaker 1: Vanderbilt is sitting at fourteen. And my guess is college
- 5:14Speaker 1: basketball is going to be a lot like college football. Yes,
- 5:19Speaker 1: you will still have the habs, but you're going to
- 5:22Speaker 1: have some have nots squeaking in here as they buy
- 5:26Speaker 1: good players. Alabama's thirteen, Texas Tech fourteen, Arkansas fifteen, Georgia
- 5:34Speaker 1: at eighteen, Tennessee twenty one SMU in for the first
- 5:39Speaker 1: time I think in about ten years. They went to
- 5:42Speaker 1: North Carolina and beat the tar Hills. Over the weekend,
- 5:45Speaker 1: the Mustangs at number twenty four. Tonight, Nebraska is at
- 5:51Speaker 1: Ohio State that game on FS one and following that
- 5:58Speaker 1: USC and mission Chigan State in Big Ten action. After
- 6:03Speaker 1: reaching his first World Series.
- 6:06Speaker 4: As the bench.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Coach in Toronto, Don Mattingly is leaving. He has landed
- 6:13Speaker 1: a new role as the Phillies bench coach. He joins
- 6:18Speaker 1: his son Preston, who is the team's general manager. I
- 6:23Speaker 1: wonder how those conversations are gonna go, Dad. I hate
- 6:28Speaker 1: to do this, but you're fired. Let's see basketball and
- 6:37Speaker 1: we'll talk more with the writers coming up, and we're
- 6:39Speaker 1: going to hear from Bucky, We're gonna hear from LSU
- 6:44Speaker 1: coach Matt McMahon.
- 6:48Speaker 4: The Aggies, of.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Course without Ebaco, and we'll be the rest of the year.
- 6:52Speaker 1: In case you missed that news Daydon Thomas, the point
- 6:57Speaker 1: guard that makes everything go for LSU, not play in
- 7:01Speaker 1: the game on Saturday. Look, this is a small team.
- 7:10Speaker 1: It shows up sometime around the glass. However, A and
- 7:16Speaker 1: M outrebounded LSU by eight. They have no business doing that,
- 7:22Speaker 1: but they did.
- 7:26Speaker 4: They had.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Let me see, if there's points in the paint. They
- 7:31Speaker 1: were equal for points in the paint. It didn't feel
- 7:34Speaker 1: like it, but they were. And if A and M,
- 7:40Speaker 1: which usually is a good free throw shooting team, they
- 7:45Speaker 1: missed six in a game that almost went to overtime.
- 7:55Speaker 1: So they usually make those free throws.
- 8:02Speaker 4: They had, They.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Were plus one in turnovers. They had fifteen too many
- 8:10Speaker 1: sixteen for but you know, and m plays at a pace.
- 8:12Speaker 4: They're going to have some turnovers.
- 8:15Speaker 5: They just they have.
- 8:16Speaker 1: To get rid of the stupid turnovers, you know, the
- 8:19Speaker 1: unforced wins. Why am I saying that, because their their
- 8:25Speaker 1: margin and Bucky has said this from the beginning, their
- 8:28Speaker 1: margin of victory is really small. Okay. It has to
- 8:33Speaker 1: do with personnel, It has to do with how they play,
- 8:36Speaker 1: It has to do with their three point shooting. They
- 8:41Speaker 1: were just twenty eight percent from the field on three
- 8:46Speaker 1: point shots on Saturday, let's see. And you know, it's
- 8:57Speaker 1: all hands on deck. So they're going to continue to
- 9:01Speaker 1: play all those guys and run them in and out.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Although Taminga's played thirty minutes, Rashawn ag who's always in
- 9:09Speaker 1: the game, played thirty one minutes.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Ali Diba had a really good game.
- 9:17Speaker 1: He had twelve points, three boards, five of seven from
- 9:21Speaker 1: the field, hit two threes. I thought Pop Isaac's was better.
- 9:28Speaker 1: He had eleven off the bench. More importantly, had four
- 9:32Speaker 1: assists and zero turnovers, which I know Bucky likes to see.
- 9:38Speaker 1: All right, we're gonna take a break. We're gonna hear
- 9:41Speaker 1: from both coaches after this.

- 11:47Speaker 8: were locally dost rising up through the air.
- 11:53Speaker 9: Put a head in the distance. I saw a shimmer
- 11:57Speaker 9: light head and my second damn just done Monday night.
- 12:06Speaker 9: The she just did in the way.
- 12:13Speaker 10: I was thinking to myself, this could be happened, and
- 12:16Speaker 10: this could be Then then she's showing me the way.
- 12:25Speaker 5: Billing busses down there.
- 12:27Speaker 8: Monday a liveday.
- 12:32Speaker 4: Welcome to thanks for me brought us.
- 12:35Speaker 1: It is a Monday. It feels like a Monday. It
- 12:39Speaker 1: feels like a double Monday, a triple Monday. After the holidays,
- 12:44Speaker 1: hope you had a good holidays.
- 12:46Speaker 11: Uh.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Writers round table coming your way. And next week, either
- 12:55Speaker 1: Monday or Tuesday, I am going to visit with Martha Ackman.
- 13:04Speaker 1: She has written a biography of darl Dolly Parton called
- 13:09Speaker 1: Ain't Nobody's Fool? That's next week on the program. All right,
- 13:16Speaker 1: As we mentioned, Aggie basketball one in zero undefeated in
- 13:21Speaker 1: SEC play after taking down LSU on Saturday afternoon, let's
- 13:28Speaker 1: hear a little bit from Bucky after the game.
- 13:36Speaker 3: We're up four coming out of time out four and
- 13:38Speaker 3: a half seconds, and we say, the only way we
- 13:39Speaker 3: can lose this in two ways is if we foul
- 13:42Speaker 3: or call it time out.
- 13:43Speaker 5: There's the only way. What do we do?
- 13:44Speaker 3: We actual keep perfectly. We foul before it comes in.
- 13:46Speaker 3: Just everybody stick around. But other than that, everything was
- 13:49Speaker 3: pretty Uh, it's a good win in the game. I
- 13:51Speaker 3: mean executed press brate late in the game. I mentioned
- 13:54Speaker 3: we lost su game late. Didn't execute our press break,
- 13:57Speaker 3: and we did in that game, got to the free
- 13:58Speaker 3: throw line, didn't make them all, but we're supposed to do.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Maybe maybe we don't win that we don't have that
- 14:02Speaker 3: c F games. I thought our energy was great. I
- 14:07Speaker 3: think the key to this game. Y'all can just look
- 14:09Speaker 3: out there. Doesn't take a genius to see. We're pretty
- 14:11Speaker 3: undersized out there on the floor. But we won the
- 14:13Speaker 3: rebounding battle and that that was really good to see.
- 14:15Speaker 3: I mean won thirty eight to thirty. We had fifteen
- 14:18Speaker 3: offensive rebounds. Dealt it up on offensive rebounds. If we
- 14:20Speaker 3: can do that, we can compete. Because we are a
- 14:23Speaker 3: little smaller and our guys really fault. We know that
- 14:26Speaker 3: we're gonna have to fight so hard to overcome our
- 14:28Speaker 3: size that our guys probably won't be to play really
- 14:31Speaker 3: long minutes at a time. And so that's why we
- 14:33Speaker 3: were subbing so much, even to give someone a quick blow.
- 14:37Speaker 5: Late in the game.
- 14:38Speaker 3: We had some big plays, some big stills, and that
- 14:40Speaker 3: may have been a duration of some of those guys
- 14:43Speaker 3: maybe that didn't play as many minutes, came in there
- 14:46Speaker 3: and really worked hard, and maybe we were some of
- 14:48Speaker 3: our guys like Ryland was fresh late and make some
- 14:50Speaker 3: big plays. So can't always control with the ball goes
- 14:52Speaker 3: in the hole. We made twenty eight percent of our threes,
- 14:54Speaker 3: But you can't control how hard you play it unselfish
- 14:56Speaker 3: you played, So it's good to close it out here
- 14:58Speaker 3: versus teams that's a good team. Well, coach, Okay, you.
- 15:01Speaker 12: Mentioned that's a new game, but what do you feel
- 15:03Speaker 12: like is the biggest difference of why y'all were able
- 15:05Speaker 12: to close this one that's compared to that and even world.
- 15:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I think we executed our press.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Break late in that game.
- 15:12Speaker 5: I mean like we were in the right spot.
- 15:13Speaker 3: We know we're supposed to be strong with the ball,
- 15:17Speaker 3: So you know, that was good to see the U
- 15:19Speaker 3: c F game. I just think we're in better shape
- 15:21Speaker 3: to continue to to play defense. You're not gonna stop
- 15:24Speaker 3: a team the whole game.
- 15:25Speaker 5: It's just it's just you're not gonna You're not gonna
- 15:28Speaker 5: do that.
- 15:28Speaker 3: But we found enough stops there, and we found enough
- 15:33Speaker 3: stops there to give us a chance, you know what
- 15:35Speaker 3: I'm saying, found enough stops to give us a chance.
- 15:37Speaker 3: And with the UCF game, we weren't stopping anybody there late.
- 15:40Speaker 13: Why where do you.
- 15:41Speaker 14: Feel like you're able to to be so effective down
- 15:47Speaker 14: low against a bigger team like that, especially up until
- 15:51Speaker 14: late in the second y'all were up in points in
- 15:53Speaker 14: the pain as well.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Yeah, well, we played a lot of guys, So basically,
- 15:58Speaker 3: if you're undersized, you know you're gonna have to put
- 16:00Speaker 3: up an extra fight. Like if I thought Mike Tyson
- 16:03Speaker 3: and his prime for me to hold my own, he's bigger,
- 16:05Speaker 3: stronger than me, I'm gonna exert more energy than.
- 16:07Speaker 5: He had than he does in the fight, right, So we.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Got to commit to playing guys less minutes as hard
- 16:13Speaker 3: as they can because they're gonna wear it down, and
- 16:15Speaker 3: just commit to our guys are gonna get tired. So
- 16:17Speaker 3: we just got to commit to play as hard as
- 16:19Speaker 3: you can for as long as you can, and only
- 16:21Speaker 3: be in there as long as you can play hard
- 16:23Speaker 3: and seven guys, and that's probably what it was.
- 16:25Speaker 5: We were fresh majority of the game.
- 16:27Speaker 15: You guys are strong in the last minute of each half.
- 16:30Speaker 15: Just how key was that and just kind of the
- 16:32Speaker 15: message you had to your guys during those last sixty
- 16:34Speaker 15: seconds in each period.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, we gotta be us, Like there can't
- 16:37Speaker 3: be any confusion on what we are. Like it's not
- 16:40Speaker 3: like like, you know, we gotta live.
- 16:44Speaker 5: We gotta live.
- 16:44Speaker 3: I mean, we're a three point shooting team, a full
- 16:47Speaker 3: court team, and like we're not gonna get up by
- 16:50Speaker 3: tie the game up like everybody back.
- 16:51Speaker 5: You know, we got to be who we are, and.
- 16:53Speaker 3: I thought it helped us, you know, play to our identity.
- 16:56Speaker 3: And I think that's why in the last minute of
- 16:58Speaker 3: those halves. You know, I think we have some guys
- 17:00Speaker 3: in there that had a motor going and made some
- 17:01Speaker 3: great plays.
- 17:02Speaker 15: What have you seen from all of these last three
- 17:04Speaker 15: weeks in particular, where he's been able to really up
- 17:07Speaker 15: his play and performance.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Yeah, he's just got like his confidence going right now.
- 17:12Speaker 3: He was a you know, a seventeen point score in
- 17:15Speaker 3: mid major basketball, and you know, we know with mckenzieut
- 17:19Speaker 3: different people are gonna have to step up, and tonight
- 17:21Speaker 3: it was his night and he really stepped up on
- 17:23Speaker 3: both sides of all age.
- 17:24Speaker 12: You said he called out the half court lu as
- 17:28Speaker 12: it was happening. Were you kind of surprised they went
- 17:30Speaker 12: with that? And was to say about him that he
- 17:32Speaker 12: was able to kind of see.
- 17:33Speaker 5: That right away?
- 17:34Speaker 3: Or yeah, yeah, Age Hick got a smart mind.
- 17:38Speaker 5: He sees what's going on.
- 17:39Speaker 3: They got us with some good actions, you know, they
- 17:41Speaker 3: were They run a lot of really good things, and
- 17:44Speaker 3: they run their stuff like they're They're very consistent in
- 17:48Speaker 3: what they do. And Age he's got probably the heck,
- 17:53Speaker 3: he's about fifty years old. His eyes have seen it all,
- 17:56Speaker 3: but he's got veteran eyes, you know what I mean,
- 18:00Speaker 3: he's got better than I. So he usually sees the
- 18:01Speaker 3: game before it happens. And he's the loudest voice.
- 18:04Speaker 5: Is that why you don't appear to be looking for
- 18:06Speaker 5: him there? That was stretch.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Yeah, So number one, they came back in the game.
- 18:11Speaker 3: He had four fouls, so we had to be willing
- 18:13Speaker 3: to throw the ball inside to Age even though he
- 18:14Speaker 3: didn't have a size advantage. You know, I just don't
- 18:18Speaker 3: ever count him out. You know, Charles Barkley didn't have
- 18:21Speaker 3: a height advantage, but it was a problem down there,
- 18:24Speaker 3: and we just can't forget that. And I think we
- 18:26Speaker 3: kind of probably got away from that too much and
- 18:28Speaker 3: didn't explore the pain enough.
- 18:30Speaker 15: How big was knocking down some free throws and was
- 18:33Speaker 15: that everything you imagined for the first SEC game of
- 18:35Speaker 15: the season.
- 18:36Speaker 3: It was good, you know, we didn't we made free throws.
- 18:39Speaker 3: We could probably shoot him even better than that. But
- 18:41Speaker 3: you know, I would say the keys in my mind.
- 18:44Speaker 3: I don't mean to keep bringing this up because this
- 18:46Speaker 3: is no deal. But when Mack went out, we knew
- 18:48Speaker 3: that we had to play smaller. We knew the problem
- 18:51Speaker 3: was playing smaller, we're going to be rebounding and finding
- 18:54Speaker 3: ways to just not be a primer to him get.
- 18:56Speaker 5: To the free throw line.
- 18:57Speaker 3: So the fact that we shot more free throws than
- 18:58Speaker 3: they did and we all rebund to them was a
- 19:02Speaker 3: very good sign for our guys, you know what I mean.
- 19:05Speaker 3: And so you get to the free throw line by
- 19:06Speaker 3: exploring the rim, you know, and that's got to continue.
- 19:10Speaker 15: What were some of the breakdowns in that kind of
- 19:12Speaker 15: six minutes stretch there late in the second half for
- 19:15Speaker 15: you guys kind of went out with the field goal
- 19:17Speaker 15: and they.
- 19:17Speaker 5: Were able to go on the run. Yeah, well we
- 19:19Speaker 5: went empty.
- 19:19Speaker 3: I think our offense really, you know, obviously it's either
- 19:22Speaker 3: for them to play offense on misshots. We went empty
- 19:24Speaker 3: a lot of possessions and they got us with some actions.
- 19:27Speaker 3: You know, we were switching a lot, going back and
- 19:29Speaker 3: forth between switching and not switching. We confused ourselves a
- 19:32Speaker 3: couple of times.
- 19:33Speaker 5: But I mean, they're they're really.
- 19:35Speaker 3: Good at dialing their stuff up, you know what I'm saying,
- 19:38Speaker 3: Like they're more of a a uh. They have total
- 19:41Speaker 3: clarity on what they're trying to do with their sets
- 19:44Speaker 3: and their actions. And it's different because we're more random
- 19:47Speaker 3: in what we do they have. Theirs is more structured
- 19:50Speaker 3: than what they do, and so you know they're gonna
- 19:53Speaker 3: get you. They're gonna dial them up on you. We
- 19:55Speaker 3: just got to limit them as much as you can.
- 19:58Speaker 7: Anything else.
- 19:58Speaker 15: For gosh, you mentioned you mentioned Charles Barkley earlier. I
- 20:01Speaker 15: don't think we're gonna get to talk with you before
- 20:03Speaker 15: you all go to play auburns. What do you know
- 20:04Speaker 15: about them? And just kind of going back on the road.
- 20:06Speaker 15: I think it's only the second time you've been in
- 20:08Speaker 15: a true road game this year.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess it is. Yeah, because of the neutral side games,
- 20:14Speaker 3: Auburn's good that you know, It was really like crazy
- 20:17Speaker 3: watching the our end of our game, because I don't
- 20:20Speaker 3: know if I saw at the end of Auburn's game.
- 20:23Speaker 3: I mean, Georgia literally is in the same spot where
- 20:25Speaker 3: it's just like no time out, no foul, the foul
- 20:29Speaker 3: three one here, and it goes to overtime. And I
- 20:30Speaker 3: sit there and think, Man, and I told someone I
- 20:32Speaker 3: was watching game with these poor coaches, this is why
- 20:34Speaker 3: we're only lived like fifty five year old because stuff
- 20:36Speaker 3: like that. And I come out here and we do
- 20:38Speaker 3: the same thing. We fouled somebody in that spot, you know.
- 20:41Speaker 3: But they're long, they're good, really good at home. I
- 20:44Speaker 3: think their students are back in, you know, very solid team.
- 20:48Speaker 3: I mean, you know when man runs zone, big athletic,
- 20:51Speaker 3: good one on one players, and obviously they'll be hungry after,
- 20:55Speaker 3: you know, losing a close one. I'm assuming they ended
- 20:57Speaker 3: up losing it, right, it's good.
- 20:58Speaker 5: So yeah, big is this win.
- 21:00Speaker 3: I know it's only the first game of the conferences,
- 21:02Speaker 3: but the fact that that is the first conference game.
- 21:04Speaker 5: But they're a good team.
- 21:05Speaker 3: I mean, they're there, top twenty five offense, they're they're good,
- 21:08Speaker 3: and you know, obviously we're both without a player today,
- 21:13Speaker 3: so you know they'll they're going to win some big games, not.
- 21:15Speaker 5: These just matchup.
- 21:17Speaker 3: But uh, you know, I say this at the route
- 21:21Speaker 3: to give yourself the best chances to take care of
- 21:23Speaker 3: business at home. And we really appreciate those who came out,
- 21:27Speaker 3: but we got to make rid arena. You know, we've
- 21:29Speaker 3: got to make it not three point advantage. Let's make
- 21:31Speaker 3: it like an eight point advantage. And you know, we
- 21:34Speaker 3: really appreciate when the fans can get here, when the
- 21:36Speaker 3: students get back. We got to have them breathing down
- 21:38Speaker 3: the other team's neck because every home win is is massive.
- 21:42Speaker 5: You can't let those get away from you.
- 21:44Speaker 1: That's Bucky after the game against LSU. I wouldn't mind
- 21:49Speaker 1: seeing Bucky get in the ring with Mike Tyson. I'd
- 21:53Speaker 1: like to see how that would go. I mean now,
- 21:55Speaker 1: not not in the prime. Now, I think Bucky can
- 21:58Speaker 1: outrun him maybe for a while. You know, Tyson had
- 22:03Speaker 1: the great quote everybody has a planning until you get
- 22:05Speaker 1: hit in them mouth.
- 22:06Speaker 4: So uh, I don't know.
- 22:09Speaker 1: I'd sell tickets, say good, that might be an event
- 22:12Speaker 1: that the folks over at Kyle who are looking, you know,
- 22:16Speaker 1: for these massive events to continue to pay off Jim
- 22:19Speaker 1: Boscot tract. That might be one. I think you can
- 22:23Speaker 1: get quite a few people over there. I'm just saying
- 22:27Speaker 1: you could have celebrity, uh you know, trainers and corner people,
- 22:32Speaker 1: you know, cut people like that. Or you could do
- 22:35Speaker 1: a tag team. You didn't have to be do boxing,
- 22:39Speaker 1: do a tag team. I mean, Tyson's sixty something, didn't
- 22:43Speaker 1: he I mean, yeah, he's he's good up there. Bucky's younger,
- 22:47Speaker 1: in better shape than he is.
- 22:48Speaker 4: I'm sure. I digress.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Let's hear from LSU coach Matt McMahon after the game.
- 23:02Speaker 5: Okay, thanks a lot, Kent.
- 23:04Speaker 16: I started off giving great credit to Texas A and
- 23:07Speaker 16: M for finding a way to get the win here today.
- 23:12Speaker 16: Obviously disappointed in the result for us, but certainly not discouraged,
- 23:16Speaker 16: very encouraged by the toughness, the effort, the intentions of
- 23:21Speaker 16: our group. I thought really responded the right way and
- 23:26Speaker 16: came out trying to find a way to win. Unfortunately,
- 23:30Speaker 16: from an execution standpoint, there were a couple of stretches
- 23:32Speaker 16: there that that will haunt us, you know, obviously some
- 23:36Speaker 16: of the turnovers, and then I thought from I thought
- 23:39Speaker 16: we really executed at a high level coming down the
- 23:42Speaker 16: stretch those last four minutes when we were up by one,
- 23:46Speaker 16: we had a couple of looks and just weren't able
- 23:49Speaker 16: to knock him down. I thought really executed well against
- 23:52Speaker 16: the zone there in the last minute to get Mike
- 23:55Speaker 16: and Woco a shot there in the lane.
- 23:56Speaker 5: We just weren't able to convert.
- 23:57Speaker 16: So credit for A and m making the plays and
- 24:01Speaker 16: finding a way to get the w today.
- 24:03Speaker 14: On the kind of half court love play there at
- 24:05Speaker 14: the end of game. What was the look they were
- 24:07Speaker 14: hoping for in that plane.
- 24:09Speaker 16: Yeah, we wanted to get Jalen Reese on the run there.
- 24:11Speaker 16: If we had Mike over the top, you know, we
- 24:13Speaker 16: would take it. If not, we were just trying to
- 24:16Speaker 16: get downhill and get our shooters faced down down to
- 24:20Speaker 16: there with nine seconds to go, was.
- 24:21Speaker 5: Plenty of time, you know.
- 24:23Speaker 16: And jalend he did a lot of great things today,
- 24:26Speaker 16: and I know he's very disappointed in a couple of
- 24:28Speaker 16: the turnovers late, but this will be a great learning
- 24:31Speaker 16: experience for him and he'll keep getting better moving forward.
- 24:36Speaker 15: What was Thomas dealing with and just how close was
- 24:38Speaker 15: he to plan?
- 24:39Speaker 5: Lower leg injury will be day to day.
- 24:43Speaker 16: We were hopeful you know, as you saw, we listed
- 24:45Speaker 16: him as doubtful last night. We were hoping he would
- 24:47Speaker 16: wake up with you know, and respond well, but just
- 24:50Speaker 16: there was no way he was going to be able
- 24:51Speaker 16: to play. So we'll keep him in treatment and and
- 24:55Speaker 16: see how he responds here when we get back to
- 24:57Speaker 16: Baton Rouge and he to get him back on the
- 25:00Speaker 16: floor healthy as soon as soon as possible.
- 25:03Speaker 14: All encouraging was that twelve to one run in the
- 25:06Speaker 14: second half to.
- 25:06Speaker 17: Rally back on the red.
- 25:08Speaker 5: Well, we had our chances.
- 25:09Speaker 16: I thought, our guys you know, really competed at a
- 25:12Speaker 16: high level.
- 25:13Speaker 5: As I said in the open, our intentions were great.
- 25:16Speaker 16: I can't fault our energy or effort or togetherness, all
- 25:20Speaker 16: those things fantastic. Just didn't execute well enough to find
- 25:24Speaker 16: a way to get to win at the end.
- 25:27Speaker 5: You know.
- 25:27Speaker 16: The one disappointing stat to me, I thought we were
- 25:29Speaker 16: able to keep the tempo, you know, reasonable. We didn't
- 25:33Speaker 16: want to be trying to be in one hundred and
- 25:35Speaker 16: ten to one hundred and five game today. I thought
- 25:38Speaker 16: we were able to keep the A and m assists down,
- 25:40Speaker 16: you know, they lead the country and assists, but the
- 25:44Speaker 16: offensive rebounding.
- 25:45Speaker 5: You know, we knew coming in.
- 25:46Speaker 16: In A and M's five Power Five games to date,
- 25:49Speaker 16: they've averaged fifteen oh boards a game and we wanted
- 25:52Speaker 16: to limit that.
- 25:53Speaker 5: They got fifteen again today. I thought it was a
- 25:55Speaker 5: big difference in the game.
- 25:57Speaker 12: So its wass to like going up against this kind
- 26:00Speaker 12: of unique style of basketball. How does it maybe compare
- 26:03Speaker 12: it to what else you guys have faced, and how
- 26:06Speaker 12: difficult is.
- 26:07Speaker 5: It to kind of prepare for.
- 26:08Speaker 16: Well, it's very unique and coach McMillan's had a lot
- 26:11Speaker 16: of success with it for a lot of years. They
- 26:14Speaker 16: throw a lot of different looks at you with their presses,
- 26:16Speaker 16: the different trapping areas. You know, one of the few
- 26:19Speaker 16: teams in the country that'll go trap you on a
- 26:22Speaker 16: miss on a miss field goal attempt, so you got
- 26:25Speaker 16: to really be on high alert. And I thought there
- 26:28Speaker 16: were a couple of times, you know, and I'm sure
- 26:30Speaker 16: it wears you down as the game goes along where
- 26:33Speaker 16: we left a teammate kind of on an island in
- 26:36Speaker 16: a trap versus sprunting back to shorten the passes and
- 26:40Speaker 16: be able to play four on three in the open floor.
- 26:43Speaker 16: So they do a great job at what they do.
- 26:47Speaker 16: We were obviously very concerned about the three point line.
- 26:50Speaker 16: I thought we defended that well for the most part.
- 26:54Speaker 16: The manga has had that one stretch hit the one
- 26:56Speaker 16: I think he's about thirty seven feet out. An incredible
- 26:58Speaker 16: shot by him. But you know, I think is the
- 27:03Speaker 16: game war on and we're down ten there. Because of
- 27:08Speaker 16: the way we play, we thought we'd have a chance
- 27:09Speaker 16: to get back in. I thought our guys stayed the course.
- 27:11Speaker 16: We take the lead by one, and we just weren't.
- 27:14Speaker 16: We had two possessions to extend that lead and we
- 27:16Speaker 16: weren't able to do so.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Samtt McMahon after the game, you know, LSU is not terrible.
- 27:23Speaker 1: I guess it's the best way to put it. They
- 27:26Speaker 1: don't defend. They're going to be in trouble for that
- 27:28Speaker 1: if they don't get better defensively. They have some athletes,
- 27:32Speaker 1: as you would suspect, they will be much better when
- 27:36Speaker 1: their point guard gets back nuoko A and m had
- 27:41Speaker 1: no answer for him. Max McKinnon, their big shooting guard,
- 27:47Speaker 1: four of nine from three. He had twenty And you
- 27:52Speaker 1: know this isn't I think the normal LSU basketball teams
- 27:59Speaker 1: we use the scene. I do like Matt McMahon, he
- 28:05Speaker 1: does have them playing hard for now. I mean this
- 28:08Speaker 1: was only their second loss, so it's not like they
- 28:11Speaker 1: were beaten down when they came in here. You know,
- 28:14Speaker 1: they were not beaten down. Let me see what their
- 28:19Speaker 1: schedule looks like here going forward. I mean, noe, they
- 28:25Speaker 1: win some home games. They are at number eleven Vanderbilt
- 28:32Speaker 1: on Saturday. I don't think they're winning that game.
- 28:35Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Oh no, before that. Tomorrow night, they're hosting South Carolina.
- 28:42Speaker 1: They definitely could win that game. They could beat South
- 28:45Speaker 1: Carolina at home. I don't think they're beating Vanderbilt in Nashville.
- 28:50Speaker 1: But they can win a few games. But they better
- 28:57Speaker 1: defend better because they weren't very good defensively, and there
- 28:59Speaker 1: is no way that team should be out rebounded by
- 29:05Speaker 1: eight and out rebounded on the offensive glass by eight.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I'd be running some rebounding drills if I were Battmingmah today.
- 29:18Speaker 4: I'm just saying. I'm not a coach.
- 29:21Speaker 1: I don't play one on the radio, although I would
- 29:25Speaker 1: be excellent at it. But they can't get outrebounded by
- 29:32Speaker 1: that team. But hey, that's credit to Bucky. That's credit
- 29:37Speaker 1: to effort. Rebounding is effort, and that's what they do effort.

- 32:09Speaker 1: On a Monday edition, We've got the Writers Roundtable coming up,
- 32:13Speaker 1: our first show of the new year. Always exciting because
- 32:17Speaker 1: I don't know what either one of them want to
- 32:19Speaker 1: talk about, but I've got some ideas. So we want
- 32:25Speaker 1: to hear from a couple of players. Post game Saturday night,
- 32:32Speaker 1: Rashaan Age had fifteen and eleven. He is becoming a
- 32:37Speaker 1: double double machine. His biggest issue is a five turnovers
- 32:44Speaker 1: and one really stupid play at the end of the game,
- 32:50Speaker 1: which he knows, but you can't do it.
- 32:56Speaker 4: So here is Age and Ali Dibba. After the game.
- 33:03Speaker 5: You starting off already stop it, Sean.
- 33:06Speaker 15: In each half, you guys closed well in that last minute.
- 33:09Speaker 15: Just what'd you see in the last sixty seconds of
- 33:11Speaker 15: each half that you know you guys were able to
- 33:13Speaker 15: find the margins at a close game.
- 33:16Speaker 5: Uh.
- 33:16Speaker 11: I was saying that last not even sixty seconds, maybe
- 33:19Speaker 11: thinking about too many mark where I mean, they just
- 33:21Speaker 11: couldn't get the ball past half court. You know, we
- 33:24Speaker 11: ramped up our pressure, and I'm proud of our guys.
- 33:26Speaker 10: Man.
- 33:26Speaker 11: We put a lot of things together, and we talked
- 33:28Speaker 11: about a lot of things in a huddle, and we
- 33:29Speaker 11: executed it.
- 33:31Speaker 3: Specifically, the basket you made was about twenty five seconds ago.
- 33:34Speaker 5: It was I can give y'all a three point league.
- 33:37Speaker 20: How did you get open?
- 33:38Speaker 5: Because it looked like they had well covered it. Uh?
- 33:41Speaker 11: When he pulled the chair, Yeah, when he pulled the chair,
- 33:44Speaker 11: I don't know what he I mean up one. In
- 33:47Speaker 11: my technique of basketball, I wouldn't have pulled the chair.
- 33:49Speaker 5: I wouldn't know. But I mean, I don't even know
- 33:54Speaker 5: what to say.
- 33:55Speaker 14: Did y'all think y'all had one one?
- 33:58Speaker 20: You know, within four point lead?
- 33:59Speaker 11: For it's absolutely my fault. I'm a older player. I
- 34:03Speaker 11: can't file in that situation.
- 34:05Speaker 5: Sean, how good is this like?
- 34:08Speaker 12: Winning a close game like this field, especially after maybe
- 34:10Speaker 12: dropping a couple that you guys.
- 34:11Speaker 5: Could have had.
- 34:12Speaker 11: Uh, it felt real good because you know LSU is
- 34:14Speaker 11: a good team. You know they played a couple of good,
- 34:16Speaker 11: good teams down the road. But I just feel like,
- 34:19Speaker 11: you know, us being at home, like, we gotta we
- 34:21Speaker 11: gotta set a stage to come into SEC play and
- 34:23Speaker 11: let people know, like it's not gonna be easy coming
- 34:26Speaker 11: in here winning This is our house. You know, we're
- 34:27Speaker 11: gonna protect home court at any means necessary.
- 34:30Speaker 14: For Sean, why was the law they ali so so
- 34:34Speaker 14: there for both teams throughout the points of the game.
- 34:37Speaker 11: I feel like, you know, when you run, when you
- 34:39Speaker 11: run certain actions, this is what happens. Also, you know
- 34:41Speaker 11: when you switch one through five, you got smaller players Guarden,
- 34:44Speaker 11: you know, bigger players.
- 34:45Speaker 5: So there's a.
- 34:46Speaker 11: Lot of a lot of actions that can get things
- 34:48Speaker 11: like that open.
- 34:49Speaker 14: Are you surprised that they tried that kind of half
- 34:51Speaker 14: court love there at the end of the hand.
- 34:52Speaker 5: No I called to play out. I knew the play
- 34:55Speaker 5: was coming.
- 34:56Speaker 11: That's the only reason he got the viole because I
- 34:58Speaker 11: said I called to play before the play even got is.
- 35:00Speaker 20: That everything y'all?
- 35:01Speaker 5: Imagine the first conference game, we look.
- 35:03Speaker 11: Like, uh yeah, a dog fight, you know, fighting for
- 35:07Speaker 11: forty minutes. We understood each game in SEC is gonna
- 35:10Speaker 11: be a dog fight for us, and we okay with it,
- 35:12Speaker 11: especially the way we play. We know games may be
- 35:15Speaker 11: high scoring, may be low scoring, but at the end
- 35:17Speaker 11: of the day, we got to do what we do best.
- 35:19Speaker 12: All the start.
- 35:20Speaker 15: For you, what was really to start that first half?
- 35:22Speaker 18: What was worthing for you today?
- 35:23Speaker 21: I would say my teammates found me when I was
- 35:25Speaker 21: playing and just picking and trying to trying to do
- 35:29Speaker 21: what we need to do every day, just being consistent
- 35:31Speaker 21: and just starting practice. We've been practicing like this every day.
- 35:34Speaker 15: So have you noticed anything different in your game where
- 35:38Speaker 15: you're confidence in the last couple of games, because these
- 35:39Speaker 15: four games you've been much more high impact off the
- 35:42Speaker 15: bench than you were to start the year.
- 35:44Speaker 21: Yeah, So just being more confident just playing know what
- 35:46Speaker 21: I can do with the court, and having teammates like
- 35:49Speaker 21: him just talk to me every day and they know
- 35:51Speaker 21: what I can do and they want me to do
- 35:53Speaker 21: what I want to do.
- 35:53Speaker 11: So it helps a lot.
- 35:54Speaker 5: Having teaments like this are.
- 35:56Speaker 15: There any aspects of your game that maybe you really
- 35:58Speaker 15: focused on those first six weeks of the season that
- 36:01Speaker 15: you've seen improvements.
- 36:02Speaker 20: On here lately.
- 36:03Speaker 21: Yes, in my defense, I would say I've picked it
- 36:05Speaker 21: up on defense. I know I can be one of
- 36:06Speaker 21: the best defenders in this conference. So that's something I'm
- 36:09Speaker 21: really working on every day.
- 36:11Speaker 15: How much you know, Buck, He's talked about a lot
- 36:13Speaker 15: about just the need for this team to play high
- 36:16Speaker 15: level defense.
- 36:17Speaker 5: Just how much of you maybe kind.
- 36:18Speaker 15: Of fed into that and tried to make that a
- 36:21Speaker 15: key part of your game.
- 36:22Speaker 21: I feel like one he recruited me here that was
- 36:25Speaker 21: one of the biggest things he said, you can be
- 36:26Speaker 21: one of the best defenders. You know the teams, so
- 36:28Speaker 21: they're trying to pick pick it up and just do
- 36:30Speaker 21: that every day.
- 36:31Speaker 14: You're trying to going back to when you said you
- 36:33Speaker 14: knew what that play was coming into something you saw
- 36:35Speaker 14: on scout? Was it something you saw in the course
- 36:36Speaker 14: of game?
- 36:37Speaker 5: How did you pick up on that read?
- 36:38Speaker 11: I mean, I mean, I say, I've been playing college
- 36:40Speaker 11: basketball for quite some time, so a lot of people
- 36:44Speaker 11: were in there play, you know, screened down for the guard,
- 36:47Speaker 11: big flashes back, get a catch, and then you got
- 36:50Speaker 11: two options coming down. So I mean it kind of
- 36:52Speaker 11: just hit me. A lot of people NBA play NBA
- 36:54Speaker 11: teams overseas. They all run the same we all run
- 36:57Speaker 11: the same actions in the same place as we just
- 36:59Speaker 11: get into it a little different. But I don't know,
- 37:01Speaker 11: it just I just seen the comment. We didn't really
- 37:03Speaker 11: talk about it.
- 37:03Speaker 12: I just kind of seen the coment always starting to
- 37:06Speaker 12: fourteen from three. What do you think worked for you guys,
- 37:09Speaker 12: kind of in that second half where you guys can
- 37:11Speaker 12: get some good threes off and I guess in six
- 37:13Speaker 12: or fourteen.
- 37:14Speaker 21: Just keep showing that we know we one of the
- 37:16Speaker 21: best teams that like best three point shotters in there
- 37:19Speaker 21: in this country.
- 37:20Speaker 5: So just keep showing it and just keep showing them confidence.
- 37:23Speaker 15: Rashan, they had a lot of you know, big guys.
- 37:26Speaker 15: You guys have talked about that. Just how did you
- 37:28Speaker 15: feel like you guys held up against kind of the
- 37:30Speaker 15: size that they had.
- 37:31Speaker 5: Man, we did a great job.
- 37:33Speaker 11: I'm proud of our guys, especially you know, Fetti, Zach,
- 37:36Speaker 11: you know Jamie Olly. We could talk about you know,
- 37:38Speaker 11: Ryland and Rubin the undersized they're coming in and playing
- 37:41Speaker 11: the four and they crashed the glass and at one
- 37:43Speaker 11: point we probably was up ten in the rebound account.
- 37:45Speaker 11: You know, like some guys come in and get rebounds
- 37:48Speaker 11: that you wouldn't expect to get rebounds because they came
- 37:50Speaker 11: in and fought and they understood it exactly what it
- 37:52Speaker 11: meant when we undersized and we lose somebody like Mackenzie,
- 37:55Speaker 11: you know, you gotta crash down.
- 37:56Speaker 5: You gotta be a factor on the glass.
- 37:59Speaker 14: This is the way that the New Game ended, preparing
- 38:01Speaker 14: all to close in that game out like this later
- 38:03Speaker 14: in the season.
- 38:04Speaker 11: Absolutely, you know, we talk about execution from that game
- 38:07Speaker 11: still to this day, you know, talking about doing things
- 38:10Speaker 11: the right way, you know, being mentally tough throughout the
- 38:13Speaker 11: whole forty minutes of the game and understanding each play matters,
- 38:16Speaker 11: each possession matters, and possessions like this whereas four seconds
- 38:19Speaker 11: left on the clock, you know, mentally, we gotta I
- 38:21Speaker 11: gotta understand also myself that not to foul and you know,
- 38:25Speaker 11: be solid and understand that a game can change within seconds.
- 38:29Speaker 22: You know, to.
- 38:31Speaker 15: Owen's question earlier about that last field goal you had
- 38:33Speaker 15: in the twenty five.
- 38:34Speaker 5: Second mark or so, just did you.
- 38:35Speaker 15: Realize that number one had four fouls at that point?
- 38:38Speaker 5: And if so, does does.
- 38:39Speaker 15: That really give you the green light in your head
- 38:41Speaker 15: to really back down on a guy like that who
- 38:43Speaker 15: really can't you know, afford to give up a foul there.
- 38:45Speaker 11: Yeah, we talked about his three foules, you know once
- 38:47Speaker 11: once I got the lob and uh they call that foul.
- 38:49Speaker 11: We knew we had four, so I mean plays The
- 38:52Speaker 11: play call was more so you know if he if
- 38:55Speaker 11: he plays back, then it's one on one. And if
- 38:57Speaker 11: they come give me then of course we got the
- 38:59Speaker 11: opposite skin. But we knowing he gonna bag off and
- 39:02Speaker 11: not really play any defense, It's.
- 39:03Speaker 5: Kind of what we expected.
- 39:06Speaker 23: How do you carry the moments from into the Almer game?
- 39:10Speaker 11: I would say, you know, moving on to the next game.
- 39:13Speaker 11: You know, every game is is on individual game, and
- 39:15Speaker 11: we got to understand that and sec play things can
- 39:18Speaker 11: always go either way. So going into Auburn, it's a
- 39:20Speaker 11: hard place to win, and we just had to come
- 39:22Speaker 11: in with the you know, winning mindset and on the
- 39:25Speaker 11: roal mindset and understanding that role wins are hard to
- 39:27Speaker 11: come by, but we can do it.
- 39:29Speaker 15: Alli, just what have you seen from the totality of
- 39:32Speaker 15: your guys, bitch this season, and just kind of the sparks.
- 39:36Speaker 15: Maybe that you guys have provided from the bench players.
- 39:39Speaker 21: Like I said, bucket ball, like he plays ten guys.
- 39:41Speaker 21: So you know, if you don't start, you're still gonna
- 39:43Speaker 21: get a good minutes. So you just gotta be solid,
- 39:45Speaker 21: be ready when your name is coming up.
- 39:47Speaker 1: So Ali David has been much better the last few games.
- 39:53Speaker 1: And coach Bucky said earlier he thinks he's getting some confidence,
- 39:57Speaker 1: which is a good thing coming from the mid bajer uh,
- 40:01Speaker 1: just a little step above and but he's he's been
- 40:04Speaker 1: very good lately. And Auburn, I don't think any team
- 40:11Speaker 1: in the SEC has unlocked the Auburn home court code
- 40:17Speaker 1: better than Texas A and M. Now I should look
- 40:21Speaker 1: up those stats, but I know A and M has
- 40:27Speaker 1: had its share of success against Auburn and at Auburn
- 40:31Speaker 1: where very few teams win. That is a they've created
- 40:35Speaker 1: a very difficult home environment. Now if they if they lose,
- 40:40Speaker 1: that home environment won't be as good. But it is
- 40:43Speaker 1: a really good home environment. The Texans report presented by

- 41:25Speaker 25: Yesterday, the Houston Texans were competing to try and gain
- 41:27Speaker 25: home field advantage for the Divisional round of the NFL
- 41:30Speaker 25: Playoffs by taking on the Indianapolis Colts. The game was
- 41:33Speaker 25: back and forth, with the Texans unable to find paydirt early. However,
- 41:36Speaker 25: this all changed in the second quarter, where the Houston
- 41:39Speaker 25: offense exploded for seventeen points. Despite two quick scores to
- 41:42Speaker 25: put themselves up ten, the Colts roared back with an
- 41:45Speaker 25: eight play ninety two yard drive to make the score
- 41:47Speaker 25: twenty three to seventeen in Houston's favor heading into the half.
- 41:50Speaker 25: The Colts would open the second half of a touchdown
- 41:52Speaker 25: and the game only seemed to get more intense from there.
- 41:55Speaker 25: With just twelve seconds left, Texans kicker Kayimi Fairban would
- 41:58Speaker 25: boot in a six of the game to put Houston
- 41:59Speaker 25: at head thirty two to thirty. Not trying to be outshined,
- 42:02Speaker 25: nose tackle Tommy Togyi picked up an errant fumble and
- 42:05Speaker 25: returned it for a touchdown to win the game thirty
- 42:07Speaker 25: eight to thirty. Despite the win, the Texans only earned
- 42:10Speaker 25: the fifth seed due to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 42:12Speaker 4: Trouncing of the Tennessee Titans.
- 42:14Speaker 25: With this seeding, the Texans will travel to Pittsburgh to

- 45:07Speaker 20: Welcome back.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Writers will be in here in about fifteen minutes. First,
- 45:14Speaker 1: we want to talk a little bit of college football playoff,
- 45:21Speaker 1: the only decent game of the day Ole Miss and
- 45:29Speaker 1: Georgia Trinidad Chambliss has been terrific. In fact, you look
- 45:35Speaker 1: at Dante More, Fernando Mendoza, all of those guys have
- 45:43Speaker 1: been really good.
- 45:46Speaker 4: Miami.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Okay, that's why I'm leaning Ole Miss. I need to
- 45:52Speaker 1: look at the spread on that game, by the way,
- 45:54Speaker 1: But let's hear from Pete Golding Trinidad Chambliss after their
- 46:02Speaker 1: big win over Georgia.
- 46:06Speaker 31: Coach just super excited for our players. I thought they
- 46:10Speaker 31: were spawned to the right way. Definitely didn't play our
- 46:13Speaker 31: cleanest football in the first half when eat side of
- 46:15Speaker 31: the ball, and kind of challenged them at halftime and said,
- 46:18Speaker 31: you know, look, we were up nine on these guys
- 46:20Speaker 31: going in the four court last time, said let's play
- 46:22Speaker 31: thirty minutes of football and out, physical, home and execute,
- 46:25Speaker 31: and they responded like they have all year.
- 46:27Speaker 5: It's a super tough group.
- 46:28Speaker 31: They got a lot of grit and they love playing football,
- 46:31Speaker 31: and then you know they're not tired of it. So
- 46:33Speaker 31: just really really proud of the group and the effort
- 46:34Speaker 31: they took place tonight.
- 46:36Speaker 20: We'll open up the Florida questions.
- 46:37Speaker 14: If you're asking a player a question, please identify which
- 46:40Speaker 14: player you're asking the question too.
- 46:46Speaker 20: We'll start on the left side.
- 46:51Speaker 32: David Elstein, sports director at WJTV and Jackson coach. Obviously
- 46:56Speaker 32: crazy ending there. What was the difference in the second
- 46:59Speaker 32: half to be able would turn it on? And what
- 47:01Speaker 32: were you telling your guys at halftime about it being
- 47:03Speaker 32: that close still and that you're in it?
- 47:05Speaker 31: Yeah, you know, I think you know, the first half
- 47:07Speaker 31: we didn't leverage the ball very well on defense and
- 47:10Speaker 31: you know, we're getting to the ball. We just had
- 47:12Speaker 31: a lot of miss tackles and this was an issue
- 47:13Speaker 31: when we played them the first time. We had double
- 47:15Speaker 31: digit missed tackles and understanding angles and all that. So
- 47:18Speaker 31: we weren't really concerned from a scheme standpoint. There wasn't
- 47:20Speaker 31: anything at halftime, and we're like, all right, we got
- 47:22Speaker 31: to change a lot of things. We just got to
- 47:24Speaker 31: execute better and get the guy with the ball on
- 47:25Speaker 31: the ground. And then offensively, they didn't stop us in
- 47:28Speaker 31: the first half. You know, we we turned one over
- 47:31Speaker 31: and then did a poor job obviously with the clock
- 47:33Speaker 31: at the end, you know, to not get three. So
- 47:35Speaker 31: it wasn't concerned about that at all. You know, we
- 47:38Speaker 31: just said, look, I told them all, take a deep breath, right,
- 47:41Speaker 31: let's go play one at a time.
- 47:42Speaker 20: And we got good enough players.
- 47:45Speaker 31: We got good enough players beat anybody, and so when
- 47:47Speaker 31: they're in the same page, we will beat anybody.
- 47:49Speaker 20: I will stay on the left side.
- 47:52Speaker 23: Coach, It's been obviously a world wind stretch for your team,
- 47:54Speaker 23: and you've been focused on your guys. But you're now
- 47:56Speaker 23: capping a weekend where a lot of recent national title
- 48:00Speaker 23: winners in this sport have fallen to teams that haven't
- 48:02Speaker 23: wonted all on quite a while. With all you've been
- 48:05Speaker 23: through in the last few weeks, what do you think
- 48:07Speaker 23: it takes for a team to succeed at this kind
- 48:09Speaker 23: of strange moment in college football in twenty twenty six.
- 48:12Speaker 31: I think you gotta have the right guys. What I
- 48:14Speaker 31: mean by that, I think they gotta be tough. I
- 48:15Speaker 31: think they gotta be competitive. I think we gotta love football.
- 48:18Speaker 31: And I think you got a lot of guys on
- 48:19Speaker 31: other teams that don't love football. There's one thing about
- 48:21Speaker 31: this group. They love football. They love competing, they like practicing,
- 48:24Speaker 31: they like preparing, and they like playing. And I think
- 48:27Speaker 31: at this point in the year, you better have a
- 48:28Speaker 31: group of guys that still wants to play, because every
- 48:31Speaker 31: time you go out there and you spot the ball,
- 48:32Speaker 31: you're playing for another opportunity to play. And these guys
- 48:35Speaker 31: aren't tired of playing, and it's fun watching them.
- 48:38Speaker 20: We'll move to the right side, front row.
- 48:40Speaker 5: Trinidad.
- 48:42Speaker 17: Just, first of all, what are the emotions like for
- 48:44Speaker 17: you right now? And then too, you know, the last
- 48:46Speaker 17: time you played them, you guys lost that fourth quarter.
- 48:48Speaker 17: This time you were able to win the fourth quarter.
- 48:51Speaker 17: I guess from your perspective, what was the biggest difference.
- 48:54Speaker 33: Yeah, my emotion right now is crazy right now, really
- 48:59Speaker 33: speechless honestly about everything, because you know it was that
- 49:02Speaker 33: same point. You know, we were down nine or they
- 49:04Speaker 33: were down nine last time we played them, so it
- 49:06Speaker 33: was kind of like rose reverse.
- 49:07Speaker 5: Then obviously, you know.
- 49:09Speaker 20: Played them before.
- 49:09Speaker 33: I didn't play my best in the fourth quarter, so
- 49:11Speaker 33: I wanted to redeem myself and you know, get that
- 49:13Speaker 33: get back again. So honestly, just trust my guys. You know,
- 49:16Speaker 33: our coach is putting in a grad position and we executed.
- 49:20Speaker 20: We'll move to the left side along the aisle.
- 49:22Speaker 34: Coach from a tight knit community like him in America,
- 49:25Speaker 34: to come in to hear your name in the super
- 49:27Speaker 34: and home in front of sixty eight thousand people, chanted
- 49:30Speaker 34: talk about what this moment feels like after your coaching
- 49:33Speaker 34: journey and all the noise this season.
- 49:36Speaker 31: Yeah, I mean, I think it feels very good for
- 49:39Speaker 31: our players. You know, I think it doesn't register from
- 49:42Speaker 31: a coaching standpoint. I think until the season is done
- 49:44Speaker 31: and the work is done and you can look back
- 49:46Speaker 31: and reflect at some point, you know, but that they
- 49:48Speaker 31: deserve for us to get ready for this next one.
- 49:51Speaker 31: And it was an awesome turnout for our team, you know,
- 49:54Speaker 31: the fans, Like I mean, it felt like a home
- 49:56Speaker 31: game to me, you know, looking up and hearing them,
- 49:58Speaker 31: and then for these to play the way they did
- 50:01Speaker 31: and to be able to come back, you know, in
- 50:03Speaker 31: a game like that versus a team like that you know,
- 50:05Speaker 31: they're one of the best teams in the country and
- 50:07Speaker 31: one of the best coaches in the country. So you know,
- 50:10Speaker 31: they're never scared and they don't panic. And that's what
- 50:12Speaker 31: I love about this group. You know, they don't have
- 50:14Speaker 31: to get too high, they don't get too low. They
- 50:16Speaker 31: want to get coached, they want to get coach hard,
- 50:18Speaker 31: and they want another opportunity. And no different than Lacey
- 50:22Speaker 31: formally came right up to me. He's like, coach, I
- 50:23Speaker 31: got you don't worries and I'm not. You know, It's
- 50:25Speaker 31: just that that's who they are.
- 50:26Speaker 16: Man.
- 50:26Speaker 5: They're wired the right way, good to.
- 50:28Speaker 20: The right side. Second row.
- 50:30Speaker 5: Yeah, this could be for either of the players or
- 50:32Speaker 5: both of you.
- 50:33Speaker 35: But you know, I think that the team of Destiny
- 50:35Speaker 35: term can get thrown around a lot.
- 50:37Speaker 20: But you guys have been through so much. I think
- 50:39Speaker 20: a lot of.
- 50:40Speaker 35: Fans that maybe don't have a dog in the fight
- 50:42Speaker 35: are pleased to see you guys win and pulling for
- 50:44Speaker 35: you because.
- 50:44Speaker 5: Of what you've been through.
- 50:45Speaker 20: Do you buy into that at all? Does it matter
- 50:47Speaker 20: to you?
- 50:48Speaker 35: Do you feel like you have that sort of team
- 50:49Speaker 35: of Destiny energy about you?
- 50:51Speaker 34: Uh?
- 50:52Speaker 33: Yeah, I mean we're not really focused on like destiny
- 50:54Speaker 33: or anything like that. We just want to play ball
- 50:55Speaker 33: and have fun. A lot of people did doubt us
- 50:57Speaker 33: before the season, and they still doubt us when you
- 51:00Speaker 33: know our coach left.
- 51:00Speaker 5: So we just want to play ball and have fun.
- 51:02Speaker 5: And I think that's showing right now. Oh yeah, we
- 51:05Speaker 5: try to block out the noise.
- 51:07Speaker 21: Let's just keep keep the main thing the main thing
- 51:10Speaker 21: and going one to know, you don't matter who you play,
- 51:12Speaker 21: just about the ball.
- 51:14Speaker 20: Can move to the left side in the back.
- 51:17Speaker 13: This question is either for Coach Golden or for Trinidad.
- 51:22Speaker 13: In the In the last drive and the ultimate game
- 51:25Speaker 13: winning drive, after you got at a field goal range,
- 51:28Speaker 13: you followed it up with the pass play and I
- 51:30Speaker 13: found that rather peculiar because that pass was almost intercepted.
- 51:33Speaker 13: Can you walk me through the decision to follow it
- 51:37Speaker 13: up with the pass play instead of perhaps keeping it
- 51:39Speaker 13: on the ground, And can you talk about the two
- 51:42Speaker 13: subsequent passes and why you may not have taken more
- 51:47Speaker 13: time off the clock than what you ended up doing,
- 51:50Speaker 13: because there weren't nine seconds left when you kicked that
- 51:53Speaker 13: game winning field goal.
- 51:54Speaker 5: Yes, sir, so.
- 51:55Speaker 31: There was twenty something seconds left on the clock and
- 51:57Speaker 31: we had no timeouts. So if you run ball and
- 52:00Speaker 31: you're tackled inbounds, the clock runs and you're running red
- 52:04Speaker 31: field goal out there at that moment, which is crazy
- 52:07Speaker 31: and a lot of things can happen. So the first
- 52:10Speaker 31: was an outroute into the boundary to try to get
- 52:11Speaker 31: a cheat five right, because every three yards increases your
- 52:14Speaker 31: field goal percentage about ten percent, so we were trying
- 52:17Speaker 31: to move it up five more yards.
- 52:18Speaker 5: They did try to trap it.
- 52:19Speaker 31: So after that it was airballs to delay time off
- 52:22Speaker 31: the clock, throw it over the head, knowing we're not
- 52:24Speaker 31: going to turn the ball over right here, and so
- 52:27Speaker 31: that was the flospic behind it, knowing there was gonna
- 52:29Speaker 31: be about a three second play, you know, once we
- 52:31Speaker 31: made the field goal, and that'd be a kickoff, and
- 52:33Speaker 31: you're gonna fend one play because we're gonna kick it
- 52:35Speaker 31: out the back of the end zone and you were
- 52:36Speaker 31: gonna call circus and be fine.
- 52:38Speaker 5: So that was the thought process.
- 52:41Speaker 1: So very matter of fact by Pete Golding. He probably
- 52:45Speaker 1: wanted to go out and slap the guy who asked
- 52:48Speaker 1: that long, rambling question, but he didn't because you can't
- 52:52Speaker 1: do that as a head football coach anymore. Apparently, that's
- 52:56Speaker 1: frowned upon by a lot of the university. So yeah,
- 53:01Speaker 1: semifinals Ole Miss Miami. That's Thursday. By the way, why
- 53:07Speaker 1: are we playing these games on Thursday night? Friday night?
- 53:10Speaker 20: Can somebody answer that for me?
- 53:13Speaker 4: Friday night is.
- 53:15Speaker 1: A wasteland in television and has been since TV was invented. Yeah,
- 53:26Speaker 1: will you go go get him? We got to have
- 53:29Speaker 1: him for the show. So I don't know why we're
- 53:34Speaker 1: doing Thursday Friday. It makes no sense to me. I
- 53:38Speaker 1: guess it's like for a Super Bowl like build up
- 53:41Speaker 1: because it's ten days in between that Friday game and
- 53:45Speaker 1: the Monday National Championship game.
- 53:49Speaker 4: I just don't.
- 53:51Speaker 1: I don't understand it. Again, this is why we need
- 53:55Speaker 1: a czar for college football. I will say again, I
- 54:00Speaker 1: am volunteering my services. That's not exactly accurate. I am
- 54:05Speaker 1: not volunteering. You're going to pay me. I will be
- 54:11Speaker 1: agreeable to an incentive laden contract because things are going
- 54:16Speaker 1: to be so good.
- 54:17Speaker 4: After I take over.
- 54:18Speaker 1: They're just going to be throwing all that leftover cash
- 54:21Speaker 1: to me, going why didn't we think about this? Why
- 54:25Speaker 1: have we done this like this for so long and
- 54:28Speaker 1: it doesn't work?
- 54:32Speaker 5: I just I do not get it.
- 54:35Speaker 1: College football got intended for Saturday, not Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,
- 54:43Speaker 1: or Friday Saturday. That's why Saturdays were invented for college football.
