- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: What is happening everybody?
- 0:01[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back to another episode of the SportsCard CEO, the official collectibles podcast for just baseball.com.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_01]: The boys are back in the house.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: This is the first episode that we've had.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_01]: We're all of us have been able to join.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: Although Gary is in transit, we are just days away from the national.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: Life has been crazy and hectic, but we stay committed to getting these episodes out.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: And so we're jumping on today, boys.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: So let's go ahead and just start with our
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: roulette routine of kind of catching everybody up on our weeks.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_01]: We all three had super stressful weeks.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: So this might be like a crescendo of emotion today.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: But, uh, Karen, give us a start us off, lead off today.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just, I'm just warning you all.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_03]: I have a splitting headache right now.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, it's like one of those eye headaches, you know, it's in your eye through the worst.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_03]: I just pops them atville.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_03]: So hopefully mid show will be good to go.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_03]: If not, we got some trouble here though.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: So it's funny.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_01]: We did tell us somebody came back on and said, Hey, boys, we appreciate you turning down the language on the episode.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: So just is this a fair warning current that we might.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_03]: Anything any, you know, expletives will bump out.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm good man.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: What's going on with you this week, Bob?
- 1:25[SPEAKER_03]: You know, a lot of the same old.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_03]: I'm getting a lot from a card's perspective.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_03]: I've had a lot of cards come back from grading.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_03]: So I've kind of just been getting everything organized.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_03]: I've moved some stuff.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_03]: I've moved a couple of walkouts.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_03]: some kind of Griffin to hottest names right now and I just kind of been getting my my ducks in a row for for national head of national I don't you know I guess we'll get into what each of our plans are for national I'm about right now I'm just I'm leaving leaving early tomorrow morning Wednesday I get in Wednesday morning so I'll be at the show all day on Wednesday
- 1:58[SPEAKER_03]: and Thursday simultaneously while moving out of this house, my wife wants to kill me because I am going out of town.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_03]: So moving and traveling is not a good combination here.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_03]: But I am excited for the national and I will be there Wednesday and Thursday leaving Friday morning, so I will not be at the show Friday morning.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: Gotcha.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: Gotcha.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: And Baba, you're coming back off the heels of vacation and what's up in your room?
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: Man man man.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_02]: I just have to tell you boys.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_02]: I had so much FOMO missing out last week.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_02]: I absolutely hated to miss it, but I can tell you that just coming off the craziest trip of my entire life.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_02]: We went twelve days.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_02]: We went Idaho to Wyoming, to Montana.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_02]: We went to Yellowstone Park, Grand Teton National.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_02]: We spent some time in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_02]: What a beautiful place to be in the summer.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_02]: Whether was amazing, beautiful, beautiful sites.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_02]: But we were crazy enough.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_02]: My wife and I to bring both of our parents, my mom and dad, her mom and dad.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_02]: and all of our kids for your old included and go on three and four mile hikes up mountains with four year old and seventy seven year old grandpa so I didn't sleep much I did not sleep much on this trip got home last night got some sleep we got right back to it football baseball practices
- 3:16[SPEAKER_02]: had a lot of phoma.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: I did current and I did talk a couple times.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_02]: We did make some some card deals.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I honestly kind of like, you know, when you're away a little bit, it kind of makes you like want to get back in even harder.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_02]: And that's kind of where I am.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_02]: They're like, I'm rejuvenated.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like Matt Ham from two months ago.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, you know, when you're, when you're away a minute and you're back, I'm like, like wicked loose every.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: I'm ready for today's episode.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to come out swinging to that.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it is, it's good to have us all together.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: I will say this.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: We all got to three of us in Little Matt and Course Gary, your kids and my twins or whatever.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_01]: We all got to hang out at the All-Star Game in Atlanta.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: It was so much fun to be with you guys, like in-person.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: And just love the vibe and the energy and the mutual respect and friendship that we've developed.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's super cool.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm looking forward to, of course, currency, Nudemara, Gary, hopefully be able to make it in the national.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: But us in-person was definitely a cool vibe.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just wanted to kind of just say if you did not catch the Mike Mayhand interview, which was two episodes ago, go back and check it out like that was a milestone cornerstone Ebenezer stone moment for sports card CEO.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: That was really cool guys.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_03]: It's really cool to just, I mean, obviously to have Mike as a guest, but to be in the studio with the third review in person for the first time, it's a lot of fun.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I wish we could, I wish we could do that more often.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_03]: Unfortunately, we're in different neck of the woods, but we're going to make it a point to, to hopefully do it maybe once a quarter or something, wherever that might be.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I definitely feel like that is the case.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: For a Pam House sports perspective, we are coming up on, you know, Super Bowl for us.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the national is always the thing that the kids just love.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: Matthew loves.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: The twins are going again this year.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: They went last year.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: You know, for us connecting with all these different people we've gotten to know in the hobby in person is always huge.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_01]: And then you've got such access to cards you never get to see and dealers and people you never get to connect with.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: So we're flying out tomorrow morning.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: and we'll be there Wednesday through Saturday.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: But on the heels of some massive stuff, you know, as you all know, for those of you that watch the social media channels, the baseball bro sports cards, the Bowman farmer boys and hamhouse sports had the ridiculous pool of desire, hope, red that has now come back from grading.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's a massive card for just a lot.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just sitting here kind of like reeling in my inability to kind of
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: manage and control all of the different things we have going on right now.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: So it feels like there's some scale happening within what we're involved in.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: and I'm trying to kind of like simultaneously be responsible to keep tabs on everything while at the same time just letting things happen the way they need to happen.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: So that's kind of where we are.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was a lot of fun.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_03]: It's dangerous.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_03]: How quickly does time go when you're ripping wax like that?
- 6:26[SPEAKER_03]: How quickly does time go?
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: I gracefully bowed out of that way through and just said, gentlemen, I will gladly organize the rest of your cars.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_03]: You want to hear something sick?
- 6:40[SPEAKER_03]: So yesterday, I didn't plan this out well, but I'm out on the island now and my office and my house is in the city and I needed to go back and get some cards from my office where I keep them.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_03]: So I had to drive in two and a half hours yesterday to go get the cards from my office and I was just going to turn right back around.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_03]: So it's home for, you know, and the kids got home from camp and I get to my office and I forgot that I had
- 7:06[SPEAKER_03]: two cases of top chrome hobby there.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, I got the liver there.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, do I bring them like, do I sell them?
- 7:14[SPEAKER_03]: Like, what do I do?
- 7:14[SPEAKER_03]: Do I open it?
- 7:15[SPEAKER_03]: Do I open them?
- 7:16[SPEAKER_03]: So like, right before I left, I grab my cards.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_03]: I get everything organized.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_03]: I grab a hobby box.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_03]: I open the first one.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_03]: I realize that, you know, the pack with the autograph is on the bottom back left.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_03]: So I just opened twelve boxes just just snagged that one pack and opened the autos.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_03]: So I threw a bunch of packs in my backpack, I'll bring them to the national, and then I'll have a bunch of packs with no autographs to go through when I get back to the office.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_03]: Fun stuff.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: Did you hit anything?
- 7:42[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_03]: It was probably, I mean, every case I opened, I say it's the worst case of all time.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_03]: It's a tough rip man.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_03]: This year's top's chrome, I'm not gonna lie.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not gonna sugarcoat it.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_03]: It stinks, I'm not a fan.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_03]: It's just, it's not good.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: That's not good to hear.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's interesting we start to get into the different products and what you open and all that kind of stuff which is certainly questions we get asked all the time, you know, and that's not our forte, you know what I mean?
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's a current story right there.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's the sort and through the other packs, but it is, it is all good.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: Well, boys, listen, for the sake of staying on past today and diving in, and we got little Matt live with us today, home from school with his summertime.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: And so he's going to do a little, little, uh, cop update and little pre-national plan for handheld sports here.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: There are some big options that ended a few fanatics, collect auctions, and so there are tons of comps.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: And one player we're going to start with, have one of the greatest games in MLB history.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: Taking a guess, is that player is Nick Kurtz on the Oakland A's.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: Six or six with four jacks.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, what a game, but I like he's gone a hundred for a hundred.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: What's the cop?
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: The cop true gold PSI ten, eighty five hundred dollars.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my god.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: and a true blue PS-A-TN, forty five hundred dollars.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: If anyone is buying, Rye Mollie has an orange wave for sale.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: He's asking seventy five thousand dollars, uh, meet, meet in person.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: And another cop is Connor Griffin does not have many public cops because so many people are holding on tight because he is the number one prospect in baseball now.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: But Connor Griffin, orange PSA ten, you probably don't say already, fifteen thousand dollars.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: A few other sales too.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: And orange wave did fifty one hundred when previously it had done in the threes and a true yellow at a seventy five did thirty two hundred in the PSA ten.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_03]: Wow, when was that?
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: Today.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: Why?
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so that just altars is whole market completely.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: Connor Griffith is going to be one of the hottest prospects at the national.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: So, and a big super fractor sale on the hottest picture right now, Jacob Miserowski Super.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: PSA tended fifty two thousand eight hundred up.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get into discussion on that sale.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: Cal Raleigh Red.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: PSA-Ten-Ten did twenty-two thousand dollars.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm not going to say it seems cheap, but I do.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: This dude's hitting like, he's doing so well this year in twenty-two k for a red-Ten-Ten seems extremely cheap.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: And one more cop is a judge true orange nine point five, seventy grand.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_02]: That was mine.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_02]: That was mine, you were truly.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_03]: Who was that the one that I sold you?
- 10:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, you sold me for thirty grand.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_03]: Fantastic.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_03]: That makes me feel really good.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_03]: That headache just got worse.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there comes the headache pouring on.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: So a lot of, a lot of comps.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: Certainly Matthew, when we're heading to the National this week, Boomin specifically at the National, kind of like what are your thoughts on how to navigate some of these comps and what people were me talking about and all that kind of stuff.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I feel like every year at the National, there's that one guy in Bowman who's the guy.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: In twenty twenty three, Jackson Holiday cards were the hottest cards in the entire world.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone's buying Jackson Holiday, even the soccer guys, even the football guys.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: Blues were pushing six grand at the National and a PSA-ten.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: Connor Griffin is the guy at this year's National.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I don't care if anyone says Connor Griffin just got promoted number one prospect in baseball his cards for a prospect will be the hottest out of I think it's gonna go like do what holiday did
- 11:04[SPEAKER_03]: Come see me, baby.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_03]: Come see us.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: Come see me and Bubba.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: We're looking forward to it.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: But boys, so let's talk about some of these cops and let's just dive into kind of the show content here.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, um, my first initial thought on one of those scum, some misarrowsky super fractor.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_03]: It kind of just, um, it kind of brought me back to something I said a while ago and the reason why it's top of mind not only
- 11:26[SPEAKER_03]: because of that sale, but there's this kid guy on Instagram that just keeps harassing me in comments on any Paul schemes thing that he tags me in and he's talking junk to me about, you know, basically taking my words at a context with an interview I did with with mama breaks back in way back when when I said that Paul schemes numbers were eerily similar at the start of his career to Matt Harvey.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_03]: And that's very true.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_03]: If you look at, there was a graph yesterday that showed such.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_03]: It just brings me back to how risky pictures are.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_03]: And I know the market is exploded.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_03]: And it's a great thing.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm really, it's awesome.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_03]: It's great for the hobby.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_03]: I'm glad that people are buying, you know, pictures again in cards.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_03]: And the news of Travis, I core of getting Tommy, he's out for the year now.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_03]: And he has, he's getting Tommy John unfortunately.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_03]: And we wish Travis nothing but the best.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, purrs out to that guy, man.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: He's a, he's a, yeah, dude, and to come on the show and to have that kind of thing, man, we just want to lift him up.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and it kind of just like not that Travis, like Laura's market is blowing up, but it kind of just reminded me of how quickly for a picture it can go like that.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_03]: You know, and if got for bid that Travis Cicora was Jacob Miserowski next week, that market is plummeting.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_03]: And I think it's just different when that happens with the position player than it is with the pitcher because it could change the trajectory of your career to an extent.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 12:50[SPEAKER_03]: And so, kind of just got me, put me back down to earth a little bit of like, you know, I'm holding here.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sitting here holding Jonah Tong, but I'm also on that fence.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_03]: I'm okay with the risk tolerance there, you know, of holding it.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_03]: It's, if anything, it worse, it's a PC piece, but paying strong money for pictures.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_03]: Again, it just brought me, that injury news brought me, you know, it brought me back down to earth of, you know, it could, it could go down.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_03]: It could go south real quick.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_03]: So be careful what you're paying.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for sure.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: Bob and thoughts there.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, thoughts on judge.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, a judge orange at seventy's huge, right?
- 13:22[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, because it hasn't hit that mark in a long time for an orange.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_02]: But to me, you look at show hey and judge again, you look at the future of those two players and say, how are they going to be remembered?
- 13:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not so sure that the market in the future won't be bigger for judge than show hey in thirty forty fifty years.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_02]: with him being in New York, with the home run totals he's hidden in the past, with the home run totals he's probably yet to be still having to be achieved.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that judges market, even though I'm the one that sold the card, these are one of the few players that I think in an opportunity that are trading that high that I would potentially buy back in on.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_02]: At some point, just because I think he probably has still room to run in the future.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: So that's one thought, and on the other thought, I've got an admission to make on Nick Hurts.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_02]: I have sold some Nick Kirk stuff.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_02]: I still have a lot of Nick Kirk stuff that I probably will sell coming up, but my biggest mistake ever in a keeper fantasy baseball league I've been in forever.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_02]: I picked up Nick Kirk's and I was holding Nick Kirk's this season in my dumb ass released Nick Kirk's probably about two months ago on that team in my starting first basement as Spencer Steer now.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_02]: So shame on me, the kid has gone twenty three jacks over a three average
- 14:36[SPEAKER_02]: And now my struggling fantasy team.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_02]: So now what I'm doing is I've given up on this season on this, this keeper league.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm building all my prospects.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_03]: And other news and nobody cares about your fantasy team.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_03]: I thought you were going to say your, your, your biggest mistake was selling me that Kurt's orange ten for thirty five hundred bucks.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I was doing that as a friend.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_02]: You did that for me for judge.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_02]: So I did that for you.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_03]: Just add a couple of heroes to the judge.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: Just add some.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're a good guy.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_02]: Well, while we're on this topic, because then we'll get into the meat potatoes.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: I just gotta put a shot out to my boy and I've gotten actually getting to know him the last couple of days.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_02]: Super nice guys.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_02]: Spencer Jones.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_02]: Spencer Jones.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_02]: I have to continue.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'll tell it from the rooftops.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_02]: I will continue to make these Instagram posts.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_02]: And until otherwise, everybody on the show gives the man the do respect.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_02]: I see both of you hamhouses.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: I see both of you side by side.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_02]: I see you curbs.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_02]: I've been telling you hamhouses for two years by Spencer Jones.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_02]: I've been telling curbs.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_02]: I've been the laughing stock of the show.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_02]: The Joey Gallo.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_02]: Ha ha.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_02]: Woo!
- 15:47[SPEAKER_02]: I love you, Spencer.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_02]: I love you!
- 15:48[SPEAKER_02]: I love you!
- 15:49[SPEAKER_02]: I love this player in Major League Baseball since her genomes.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_02]: How do I do it in a firecracker?
- 15:55[SPEAKER_02]: I saw a stat in the other day, like it hit like seventy fly balls this season and thirty have a lot of yards.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_02]: And a forty eight, forty eight fly balls and thirty have a lot of yards.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_02]: That is
- 16:06[SPEAKER_03]: I have two words for you, Bubba.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_03]: Sell now.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_03]: Get out.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_02]: Spencer is a fan of the show.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_02]: I hope you continue to hear this negative because brother I believe in you.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_03]: It's nothing against Spencer Jones, but the corporate get out.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_02]: He, he, I believe in Spencer gets the call, the whole city in New York.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to be in Times Square on that when you're looking at your office window, you used to look at pigeons.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_02]: Now you're going to see a billboard of Spencer Jones.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he's going to take over instead of Aaron Judge.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you know, it's so funny about this as we talk about prospects a lot on this show and certainly it's influence on the hobby.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_01]: I was thinking about this the other day, we were at cards HQ and literally we have the Zire Hope Red that we just pulled right and Jeff Wilson was in the room with us and Jeff who creates all kinds of content for the sports card hobby.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: Like he looks and he goes, is this one of those prospect guys?
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: And it hit me, right?
- 17:03[SPEAKER_01]: It hit me how nuanced the Bowman side of the market truly is.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: And and also too, like when you look at, you know, people know who the rookie class is for football and for basketball.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: because those guys get drafted and they immediately get put in the spotlight.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: Baseball is so unique because these guys get drafted and nobody freaking knows.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_01]: And then all of the sudden Nick Kurtz, people go, who's Nick Kurtz?
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: Holy crap, he just hit for him runs.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_01]: Let me buy every Nick Kurtz card.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_01]: I had a buddy of ours locally who's just gotten into baseball and he said, I am amazed at what the market does when a baseball prospect hits.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: He said no wonder
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: people get into Bowman, because it is insane when the mass media sees a guy like that on Sports Center for the first time and then the frenzy happens.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: So it really is interesting at how it influences our market and our understanding of that to be involved in the prospect game and the timing of it all.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, for sure.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_03]: Similar to like, I bet you a lot of people didn't know who Junior Kevin Arrow was before the home run derby.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, baseball players in general just aren't nationally marketed the way that basketball players and football players are.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and until they have that kind of moment, you know what I mean?
- 18:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they become that household name.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's what's so interesting.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_00]: Another thing, too, is like, everyone thinks about Cooper Flag because they wash his highlights in college.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of the prospects were buying, didn't play in college there.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_00]: They played, they came from
- 18:42[SPEAKER_03]: overseas or whatever so high school boy yeah exactly high school so no one is no one knows about them like but like Cooper Flag I mean big football Travis Hunter those big football prospects everything about Zion William someone he came on the scene in basketball I mean he had this highlight real from Duke you know yeah I mean look these guys are ready to go on to the court on to the field that next year you know what I mean where baseball it they might never make it but it they need you know two three four year sometimes are longer
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think they are.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think understanding that is a huge help to everybody who's in this market space.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: And it gives you this track to run on, back to Gary's point about Spencer Jones, right?
- 19:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like Gary had conviction from him from the beginning.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: And so he made that play.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: And again, if Jones debuts and has any kind of output like he's had in AAA, like that's going to be a great day.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_03]: So to my next point, is Spencer Jones, when is he going to be called up?
- 19:36[SPEAKER_03]: He's going to be traded, like why isn't he up there?
- 19:39[SPEAKER_03]: He's crushing and judges hurt.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_03]: Why is any up there?
- 19:41[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they say he's he sat out the last three days with backspathoms.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that I don't think it's a question of will he get the call?
- 19:50[SPEAKER_02]: I think that there are a hundred percent will.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's been missing some time with backspathoms the last three games.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_02]: But they said once he's healthy, I think they'll probably be in the lineup in the next week.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_02]: I would imagine he gets the call.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_02]: But I think conveniently to team still have, you know, contract reasons why they don't call these guys up whether they ever publicly admit that stuff.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_02]: you know with time when time clicks over to August that's just a little more time they don't have to pay Spencer Jones one day if he becomes the high dollar player that I think he'll be but yeah to both of those points and that we've talked about this before on the show but I think this is a part of the topic for today's show as well we haven't talked about this in a while is the market this market I told you current this the other day is incredibly strong so strong and I can ever believe yeah
- 20:35[SPEAKER_02]: I think part of that is the phomo of people that haven't been in baseball are now in baseball is one hundred percent.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_02]: There is football is our baseball's the new football.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it'll hundred percent is.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_02]: And when a guy has a big game like Jamar Chase last year had the three touchdown two hundred something yard game is stuff like nuclear.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_02]: Now where it's at?
- 20:57[SPEAKER_02]: And it's, I think football will have its own day in the sun here in the next month or two, but I just enjoy in the fact that baseball's getting the love that it's getting.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_02]: It deserves it.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_03]: Damn, in last year, the market was so weak in it.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_03]: It's stunk, you know, and to me this year, it just feels like everybody's hit.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 21:15[SPEAKER_03]: Like everybody, like everybody that was a chase is hitting is playing well.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 21:21[SPEAKER_03]: Like Connor Griffin was a chase in twenty four draft boom.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_03]: Nick Kurtz was a chase in twenty four draft boom.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_03]: Look where he is.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Jack Jack had to call up.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_03]: Walcott, I know that the people were saying he's batting two fifty, but I mean he's got identical stats, better stats in Leo, Leo de Vries.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_03]: So everybody's just booming.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_03]: Dio's crushing it.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_03]: Like the market is
- 21:41[SPEAKER_03]: strong I think because of what Gary just said, you know, part of it, but everybody's just hitting last year.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody really had these monster years that.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_03]: It just felt like a soft market and nobody was really performing to be honest.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, obviously, there's their players that were, and maybe I'm just, you know, biased in my world, but it just feels like everybody's hitting, like Louise Payne, boom, got up, you know what I mean?
- 22:05[SPEAKER_03]: Like all these guys are just that word, I'll tell you, just now shout out, like all these guys are hitting, dude.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the other thing that's happening is, you know, I'll use a name because I actually was looking at some of his guards today.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_02]: with somebody that both of y'all know and I use in the mala okay I like in the mala still even though he's struggling right all this comes right now his prices should be lower than they all that's what I was selling this guy was looking at his cards and said look he's struggling and it's not reflected in his comments because no one's selling his stuff and that's what's happening right now that's different
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: guys are protecting their stuff and they know when to sell better than they used to when you get crushed is when some bonehead goes out there when a guy's in the middle of a slump and says, you know, let me sell this because I need to catch and then all of a sudden you're stuck with that com people are doing a lot better job of protecting the stuff that they own and knowing what they have
- 23:01[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the other thing is, too, is that I think we've all come to the realization that whereas the football and the basketball market is largely more influence by quick turns and, you know, the hype of things, the Bowman buyer is a more sophisticated buyer and they're willing to enable to in most cases hold cards longer.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: And so the availability of true color of anybody in the top one hundred prospect column, it becomes more and more rare to find.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_00]: Another thing about Bowman that I love is, it's just if you're trying to buy a football card or trying to sell a football card, people will say, oh, I'll give you eighty five to ninety percent or whatever.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_00]: For a true color Bowman, you get full comp.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_00]: You like people will pay for true color Bowman.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: They're not going to pay for a downtown.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_00]: of Jamir Gives, but they're going to pay you for a Connor Griffin true goal.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, for sure, especially guys like Connor Griffin that are completely liquid, you know what I mean?
- 24:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think that's a good segue into, you know, the next thing we wanted to talk about, because I think as I was sitting in Montana, actually I was sitting in Idaho, sitting in Victor Idaho, drinking my coffee and knew I was about to have a big day going to the parks, but I'm trying to get caught up on baseball, right?
- 24:19[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm doing some research.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_02]: And I called current after and I said, man, I said, man, I think for the first time, I feel like I've got to re-establish what my plan is and who I'm buying next.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_02]: Because I've sold a lot of the guys that I had.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_02]: than the guys that are out there pretty obvious who's out there, but I got a dig deeper outside of this list of guys that I've been buying and say who is going to be next.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_02]: And so that's the segue into the next topic I think we had as the national.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_02]: So I've always thought of the national at least a couple of years ago.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_02]: I thought of the national being this place I could walk in and just find Bowman color out the wall of the loop.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_02]: And the reality was it wasn't there.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_02]: So my question is this year, especially after y'all went to the fanatics vest and y'all saw a lot more color that hadn't been seen.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_02]: Are y'all expecting to see more bone in this year?
- 25:07[SPEAKER_02]: And kind of what's the strategy you walk in in for YouTube?
- 25:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, a couple of things.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: Number one is we kind of made an investment kind of on behalf of the podcast as well as hamhouse sports.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: I have a buddy who reached out and was asking about, you know, some videography stuff.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: So we actually have a videographer like a local freelancer that's going to come behind us and trail us.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: tomorrow for the day, you know, kind of getting some insight on to, you know, how to do, how does Ham House, specifically little Matt, like how does he approach a culture like this and, you know, how do we, how do we navigate the show floor, how do we negotiate like how do we all that kind of stuff.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_01]: I just to tell our listeners, we're gonna have some really good content professionally done to help say that.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: But I would say this is I told a little mat today that I was at the office today and I text him and I said, hey dude, we're leaving tomorrow.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_01]: I want you to go through every single card we have and I want you to have a game plan with what, what's the game plan with that specific card, right?
- 26:04[SPEAKER_01]: And then also to understand when we're going into the show floor like who are we looking to buy and like some, I'll let you speak to that man.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_00]: Alright, my guy that I'm buying is a Chicago favorite, but Pete Crow Armstrong, as much as he jumped up, he's still so undervalued.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: Pete Crow is on pace for a fifty-fifty season, and he's still four times less than what Bobby Witt is doing.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_00]: I expect him to get somewhat close to Bobby Witt's pricing.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_00]: Pete Crow's a guy I'm looking for, always looking for Jordan inserts because they're super liquid, and looking for a nice mohomes, if I can put my hands on one.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: But specific to bone and like, you know, again, when you, when you go to bone, like, what's your, what's your philosophy on bone?
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: And because I know, like, for you, it's probably more about like, you know, the value and the deal on the card versus the actual card itself.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I feel like sometimes you get discouraged at the national because after the day two or day three, I feel like a lot of the
- 26:59[SPEAKER_00]: The deal, I mean, because the general public started being a lot of the deals are gone, so you get great greedy.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_00]: Like at Fanatic Fest, I try to stick to true color, but I got antsy and I went and bought a true green liot of rye, which I shouldn't have done.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_00]: I broke even on the card, but I got antsy, one of them by prospects, so I bought that.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_00]: So staying to my game, sticking with true color, Bowman, and don't be afraid to pay super strong.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I know Bowman's not, I said, I typically look at Bowman as a comp game, but I don't really need to, because people will pay their price for good Bowman.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, my plan is really, I have none, and it's probably, I would say it's probably not a good idea, but like at the same time, I'm not going in looking to buy.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_03]: If I see something that I really like, I'll try to make a deal for it, right?
- 27:45[SPEAKER_03]: From a moment perspective, like last year,
- 27:48[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't see anything that I really wanted other than, I saw the first day when I walked in, I saw an early first to red, ten, ten.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_03]: I think it was.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_03]: And I had my eye on that.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_03]: And I tried to work a deal for that.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_03]: And I think at the first day, I don't think they really wanted to get rid of it.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_03]: It was a high price tag.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't think they really had motivation to get rid of it.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_03]: It was more just like a showcase card.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_03]: But I checked in with them every day.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_03]: But for the most part, I'm just kind of like, I'm not buying for
- 28:14[SPEAKER_03]: you know to flip at the national or anything if I'm buying it's coming home with me and it's got to be something special true color to red or true orange really or maybe a true gold of a player but like to be honest like I'm very particular and like in who I'm buying so the guys that I am buying are have bought like have everything I want of you know maybe I'll see a unicorn out there and I don't mean that in like a
- 28:38[SPEAKER_03]: You know, any sort of like pretentious way, right?
- 28:41[SPEAKER_03]: But like Connor Griffin, like I, you know, I'm loaded up on, well, caught him loaded up on delivery.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_03]: I'm pretty much almost out of now at this point.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm not really buying back in.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I'll look for some Tyson Lewis.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_03]: He's on my radar.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_03]: And there's some other guys that I'll keep my eye on.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm not going in with a plan.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_03]: If I can, you know, I do plan to move some stuff.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe I had a trade night or at the show.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_03]: I'm open to moving, you know, some Connor and some Walcott and some other things that I'm bringing.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_03]: But like for the most part, it's it's kind of like if I see a cool PC piece, you know, like a cool like vintage match.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_03]: card, something like that that like I don't normally get access to or I wouldn't normally search for on eBay and stuff like that.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_03]: I kind of keep my eye on cool pieces like that.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I was going to say that the cool thing about the nationals, you see cards you don't see anywhere else.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_01]: And like, you know, when you know what you know about the industry and you're walking through a case and you see, you know, maybe a guy who has a predominant case that's filled with football or basketball, but he has
- 29:42[SPEAKER_01]: a red, you know what I mean?
- 29:44[SPEAKER_01]: Bowman just sitting there, or you know that Bessayo is probably close to call up, and this guy has a true gold, and the last comps three, but there's a comp before that, at twenty three, if you could meet him in the middle, you know what I mean?
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's being educated and strategic about the cards, so it pays to do so much research when you walk in that show floor, because if you haven't,
- 30:08[SPEAKER_01]: You are just drinking from a fire hydrant like this one.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: And you kind of have to know where your sweet spot is so that when you see the opportunity pop you have to jump on it because you can't really hesitate because you'll miss out.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, exactly and there's lack of service there usually to so it's not like it gives us hop on card ladder and look at the values and you don't the time to do that stuff.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_02]: Well, yeah, so I was going to say my question more for you guys was like, what's your expectation?
- 30:34[SPEAKER_02]: Because that's what I'm like, what's thinking about it to myself today?
- 30:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think I mentioned it earlier, like in kind of what's going on in my life.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I've had, I was trying to get out there Wednesday so I could be there when y'all were going to get there.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_02]: I was going to try to leave Friday.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_02]: I just can't logistically make it work.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_02]: If I do end up coming it'll probably be coming in late Friday and I would like to go if I can logistically get a flight set up in spin the day they're all Saturday but I'm sitting here going like what's my expectation right obviously I'm bringing my sons that's expectation number one them having a great time
- 31:06[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_02]: So that's the first and foremost for me.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_02]: What I think about the national is I just think about it as an event that you want to go and just have a great time, right?
- 31:15[SPEAKER_02]: You want to meet people that sometimes you've never met in person.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you bought from or this or that, but I also think back to the last time I was there.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_02]: What I would have done differently.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_02]: I think that in the last time I was there, the big mistake I made, I brought a brick and duffle bag full of cards.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_02]: And I sweating, beads of sweat were running off the tip of my nose.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_02]: Because I had all these cards I was hauling around and people were touching them.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_02]: So I won't, I will never make that mistake again.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_02]: But I think what I would have done differently is go on to those card nights.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_02]: And those trade nights it dug really deep.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_02]: because when you really look back, there are cards that are floating around, that are cards you can't find on eBay.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_02]: There's cards you can't find on fanatic cards that I would love to buy right now.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_02]: Reds, oranges, gold, superfractors, blacks, et cetera, of players that I want to buy that are going to pop up at the show.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_02]: And it's probably in the photo mode that I have, it's going to be a little matte texting me going that he just bought him.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_02]: And because I'm not going to get there until Friday or Saturday.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_02]: And so like I really think of expectation like for myself, that's where I'm curious with y'all.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_02]: You guys, but my expectation would go in to have spot number one.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_02]: Then number two would be to try to find some of those grails that I know that are out there that people just aren't posting on on event.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the thought that I have like there's definitely different strategies to this hobby and you guys probably have a very different strategy than we do.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_01]: The majority of y'all's deals are probably done like recurrent.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think the majority of your deals are done privately.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Gary, yours are probably more public, you know, and you utilize, you know, auction houses and stuff like that to liquidate your inventory.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: I've never seen a card to an auction house period.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, while I have bought cards publicly, a lot of the opportunities that we have had have been at card shows.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: and it's like we started by going to a card shows so like we didn't really understand the other side of the business so for us there's an entirely different strategy at card shows because you have buyers there you have cash present you get worked on there yeah people
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: people are looking for like FOMO.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: So like when we went to the Charlotte card show back in March, I mean we sold sixty thousand dollars of inventory on site because we knew that our buyers are there with cash ready to make deals and if we were going to get our fifteen but we had the inventory in hand you know and so much like that now with the national we have our inventory in hand and we're ready to go and we're also being super strategic but to your point if I come home with something
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be like a vintage Mickey mantle or like a nineties insert Jordan or a ripkin like if I buy something that I know that I could turn quickly like we'll do that what you got I mean you all you talked about like how I approach a car show when I approach the national everyone always says they've up cash with national save your cash.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to see first card you want
- 34:09[SPEAKER_00]: But you can't look at the whole show for in ten minutes.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like, cards are going to sell.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_00]: But when I approach a card show, I bring in cards to sell.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_00]: To find buying online, but selling is my problem.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_00]: That's the big one always says.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how to sell cards.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_00]: At the national, there will be thousands of buyers there.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_00]: So when I go to a card show like this, I'm stacking up on inventory.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_00]: I head to the national and I'm going to green to deals before and then I'll meet the people there so I can get cash.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_00]: I already have probably so it will wind up you today.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think I think Gary for you, like if you go, you really need to come with some inventory in hand that you would want to move.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, Gary, I know honestly, like the grails that you're referring to, those are going to be there, right?
- 34:52[SPEAKER_03]: Like those reds or whatever, but like
- 34:54[SPEAKER_03]: They're not going to likely aren't going to be there by Saturday unless they just don't, you know, have a buyer for them, but like I feel like that's the advantage to getting there early is getting your eyes on those big cards.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_03]: So those unicorns, you know, so one more question, really.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I'll ask it in a different way.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_02]: I'll ask you all a question in a different way.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_02]: So what is your prediction for yourself at the National?
- 35:17[SPEAKER_02]: That's the question.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_02]: What is your prediction of how, when you've right now, you said, we're going to go to the National, we're going to, I'm going to sell fifty thousand dollars of cards, or we're going to buy it like if you are predicting right now, because I'm curious when we get back to next week's episode post national.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_02]: Just curious to see if the show goes how you think.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_02]: So, with jealous bought current,
- 35:37[SPEAKER_02]: What's your prediction for your national?
- 35:40[SPEAKER_02]: How much do you buy?
- 35:41[SPEAKER_02]: How much do you sell?
- 35:42[SPEAKER_02]: And we'll see if it goes the show.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_02]: Go the way you thought.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_03]: I think I sell probably.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to say fifty thousand dollars worth of inventory.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_03]: And I would say I probably buy ten thousand dollars worth.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm okay.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: You selling more than mine.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: I would say
- 35:59[SPEAKER_01]: I would say, this is me, I think we sell forty thousand dollars of current inventory and then I think we probably transact like turn flip another twenty to thirty k in inventory and hopefully try to make you know twenty to thirty percent you know on that and then you know we probably will come home with ten thousand inventory we didn't have
- 36:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think we'll sell total probably eighty thousand dollars worth of inventory.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think we'll buy what we'll come home with probably.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_03]: I'll say he's going to say I'll buy probably two hundred fifty thousand dollars.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_00]: I'll come home.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'll come home with probably I think twenty five thousand dollars worth of stuff but I'll probably buy.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_02]: fifty to sixty I think yeah yeah I'm gonna say for my standpoint if I end up going I will sell tin I will buy tin times more than I sell hundred percent like that's what I could for me to go there and have fun and just this is like another topic we can talk about I don't enjoy selling pop product like public like private
- 37:13[SPEAKER_02]: I love buying, and that's why I use the platforms like eBay fanatics.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_02]: I love buying.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_02]: I love buying in person.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_02]: I love making the deal of finding the deal, but I hate dealing with people trying to knock down my card and guys kick in tires.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_02]: I hate that.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: Little Matt.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: Little Matt just said we need to make Gary a shirt that says, I love buying.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: I love land.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_01]: The Bowman farmer.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's a good one.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_03]: That's a good one.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_03]: That's a good one.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_01]: That's so funny.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's so scary right there.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_02]: I just I like buying I like I do I love selling but I only love selling like if I'm selling at the right time and I don't want to go to the National and feel like I'm forcing that you know if I go to the National and I sell a couple of rooms or this or that but most of my baseball stuff like I don't feel like I have to because I know what I've got
- 38:06[SPEAKER_01]: I have this really funny skit idea.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_01]: My brain does this by the way, boys.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: I have these random skit ideas where like what we're talking about comes to me and movie form in my head.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_01]: I have a skit idea right now of current and little mat and me sitting down in a classroom and Gary is in Glenn Gary Glenn Ross.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_01]: You remember Alec Baldwin's character?
- 38:24[SPEAKER_01]: And he's like walking around and he's like, this coffee is for closers.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_01]: Gary is gonna turn the whole thing.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_01]: If there's coffee, it's for buyers.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: ABB always be buying.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_02]: hundred percent boys that's that's where the fun is that listeners that's where the fun is buying
- 38:43[SPEAKER_01]: You see that car out there, that's an eighty thousand dollar Mercedes.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_01]: You're drove here in a Corolla.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_01]: Always be buying the Bowman Farmer.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think too, guys, there is something to be said for us being together.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_01]: That sounds super weird, but like, I mean it.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there's some synergy that's found when, you know, I mean we can all kind of be in the same space.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think that part of shows and the beauty of card shows is that it's a unifying factor for people who love the hobby and you get everybody in the same space.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that there's that's the intangible aspect of it.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yep, for sure.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_03]: I'm really just looking forward to most of all.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_03]: If I sell zero and buys zero, I'm looking forward to just seeing you guys and seeing people that, you know, done deal to it and walking around and seeing the difference things that are out there.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Karen, can you give me that private jet so that I can get there?
- 39:38[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's really going to be hard to find that.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_02]: Are you being arrested?
- 39:42[SPEAKER_03]: Are you being arrested?
- 39:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'm heading, I'm heading to New York.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_02]: They were turned.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_03]: The Jets on the way.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_03]: I got to get you out of there.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_03]: I got to save the Bowman farmer.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_01]: You got to buy the Bowman farmer.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: Send it.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_01]: Bubba, you need to put a little air strip on you on the Bowman farm.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_02]: If they talk about that, Matt.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_02]: So hey, just love you did Matt and Matt Junior here, little Matt.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_02]: both went to the Bowman farmer's farm.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, actually went to the Bowman farm.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_03]: I get to get out there.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we definitely, we definitely do.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: We have to have an onsite event.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_01]: And I will say this dude, it was super cool, you know, just a huge part of, you know, I know what you've been trying to create as far as like the legacy dynamic and having something for your family, like what a special placement.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and it was cool for us to be able to go there and experience it.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like it was really neat to go, man, you could kind of see the fruit of your labor and also to just your passion for it.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: It was really, really cool when I definitely feel like, you know, there, there needs to be a, we need to have an event of getting everybody down to the bone and farm for sure.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_02]: My favorite part of y'all coming down and carrying you aren't there.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_02]: Well, those two favorite parts.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_02]: My first favorite part for sure was pulling the Zahirho and then sending it to Karn after he said he wasn't getting in and seeing his response.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_02]: There'll never be a better, more classic event than that.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_02]: But my second was when Little Matt goes, hey, how many cards do you have at your house?
- 41:03[SPEAKER_02]: I can't wait to see your collection.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_02]: The twins did as well and I said, I don't know, maybe twenty, twenty, five cards.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_02]: I don't, I don't keep very many at that.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_00]: Here's an Akunya Orange.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_00]: Just didn't get my desk drawer.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_02]: They went in there and started going through my drawers and they were like, oh, what about this one?
- 41:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, oh, yeah, I forgot.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_02]: That one's fun, man.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_02]: A little mat like, like, set all my stuff up.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm organized now and like, I know I actually know where my cards are again.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_02]: I appreciate that.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_00]: My dad, Big Matt was about to have a panic attack in there.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_00]: He was, he had maximum anxiety.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_00]: He was like, I can't do this.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I will say the amount of messages.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_00]: We post our story like crazy collection find in basement.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_00]: The amount of messages we got about this collection find was, as well.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_01]: I will say this is whether or not you want to admit it on camera.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: You boys need me.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_01]: You need, you need Big Matt in your life to keep your credit grounded and keep your organized.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_03]: Of course we do.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_01]: So good.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think we're going to publicly, publicly make that announcement today.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_02]: The Bowman farmer and Hamhouse sports are teaming up, baby.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_02]: Hamhouse is going to keep the Bowman farmers personal life coach.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, personal life coaching is available.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I got you.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_01]: I will tell y'all.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_01]: It was so wild for me just to be in that world because like I am the one who I've got five kids, right?
- 42:27[SPEAKER_01]: And my wife, both of us are actually creative types.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_01]: I am not.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, of our family, I am the more organized one, but in my life, I tend to be a little bit more creative, but I have to be the one
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: that stays organized and structured and has plans and stuff, because we would run a muck with our family.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, it has to be.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_01]: But I felt like the am the oldest guy on this podcast, which is painful for me to admit.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: But it was obvious that I was the old man of the club.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, I'm trying to learn how to embrace that role in my life, because that's never been me.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_00]: It was funny, like, we were upstairs, and Gary was like, all right, y'all can go get in the pool and all the boys jumping in the pool, and I'm like, Gary, you want to go crack some cards?
- 43:08[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, what's to do it?
- 43:09[SPEAKER_00]: So being Gary downstairs, cracking cards, and eating popsicles, whatever one else is in the pool and hitting baseballs.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_03]: Amazing.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_01]: It was fantastic.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_01]: Well, boys, final thoughts as we wrap up today's show.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_01]: We're getting near our mark.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: Certain looking forward to seeing you guys in person.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_01]: I want to just say to our listeners, like, for those that continue to listen and reach out, like we so appreciate it.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_01]: There's definitely some cool things coming down the pipe.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think for the show and for what we want to do for the hobby and how we want to kind of get involved.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_01]: And so you guys continue to give us that feedback.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_01]: But final thoughts today, boys, as we wrap up.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, now we appreciate all the listeners as Matt said.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_03]: And
- 43:45[SPEAKER_03]: You know, come say hello at the National if you see us and we might try to get an episode out later this week.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_03]: If not next Wednesday, you can count on it.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_02]: Mod would be at the National in in general Nick Kurtz being the current event to kind of note if you have conviction in somebody.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_02]: Just go that's that's going on that.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_02]: If you've got to go small, start small, we've talked about buying, you know, an even number non-serial carge, because you'd have been buying Nick Kirk's cars of base autos, and you'd been buying those the whole time, because you had conviction on that player.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_02]: How much would you be up right now?
- 44:19[SPEAKER_02]: So to me, when you've got conviction on somebody, even if you've got to start small, buy into that plant player, believe in that player, and then no other time to sell.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not going to sit here and say, I always say this on the show, but I'm not going to say Nick Kurtz isn't going to be a great player, but now is a great time to be looking at some of your Nick Kurtz.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_02]: And you can always get back in later.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_01]: Well, gentlemen, I appreciate you boys.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: Really, truly.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's a lot of fun to do this.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm looking forward to seeing you guys this week.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_01]: Bernie, do not forget.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_01]: We got some swag.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: But we appreciate you guys watching and we'll see you next week.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: Peace.
