- 1:08Speaker 2: to this morning. As you may guess, of course, we
- 1:11Speaker 2: thought the big story it was gonna be rich Rodriguez
- 1:14Speaker 2: returning to Morgantown. It's still a big story, don't get
- 1:17Speaker 2: me wrong. So throughout the show, I've got several guests
- 1:20Speaker 2: on the show today, but I'm gonna give you an
- 1:21Speaker 2: opportunity to just text in your thoughts on Rich Rod
- 1:25Speaker 2: returning to Morgantown. You can do that via the Tony
- 1:28Speaker 2: the Taylor text three zero four nine three five five
- 1:30Speaker 2: zero zero. A matter of fact, when I got here
- 1:32Speaker 2: this morning, already had text waiting on me to get
- 1:35Speaker 2: to him about rich Rod. So we'll get to that.
- 1:37Speaker 2: We have breaking news broke during the early morning hours,
- 1:41Speaker 2: last overnight whatever, and you're gonna hear a lot more
- 1:43Speaker 2: about this on talk Line coming up at ten oh six.
- 1:46Speaker 2: A serious situation involving a delegate elect from the Eastern Panhandle.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Now his name is Joe DeSoto, and he appears or
- 1:53Speaker 2: is alleged to have made death threats against other delegates.
- 1:57Speaker 2: There was, I'm told, a pretty contentious Republican HACKUS meeting
- 2:00Speaker 2: where attempts were made to remove Deligate Act to Soda
- 2:03Speaker 2: before he actually took office. It's a bizarre story and
- 2:06Speaker 2: a time of bizarre stories. Wilson and Meadows. We'll have
- 2:09Speaker 2: more on that coming up on talk Line. Well, of course,
- 2:12Speaker 2: we already have plenty of things posted on x and
- 2:16Speaker 2: also on our websites at social media as well. So
- 2:19Speaker 2: we got all that to get to a million nicely
- 2:21Speaker 2: from West Virginia. Watch your way in on that story.
- 2:24Speaker 2: She's coming up a little bit later on, and we're
- 2:25Speaker 2: gonna talk a little football because tomorrow the state high
- 2:28Speaker 2: school football championship is presented by Toyota. We'll take over
- 2:31Speaker 2: Ladley Field with two games tomorrow, two championship games tomorrow
- 2:35Speaker 2: and two more on Saturday. We'll talk to the Voice
- 2:37Speaker 2: of high School Sports, Fread Persinger about that. So lots
- 2:40Speaker 2: to get to this morning, and again, if you want
- 2:43Speaker 2: to weigh in on rich Rod, because that seems to
- 2:45Speaker 2: be what everybody's talking about this morning. That was until
- 2:47Speaker 2: the delegate story broke. You can text me with that,
- 2:50Speaker 2: Tony the Taylor text three zero four nine three five
- 2:54Speaker 2: five zero zero. Waight, let's welcome in our good friend
- 2:56Speaker 2: though now doctor Casey Sacks from Bridge Valley, Doctor Sax,
- 2:58Speaker 2: good morning, welcome to the show.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Oh, good morning, Dave. Great to be with you today.
- 3:02Speaker 2: You picked a busy time to be here. If you
- 3:05Speaker 2: heard my if you heard my pre actually you didn't
- 3:08Speaker 2: pick it. I mean we had play in advance, but
- 3:10Speaker 2: if you heard my preview. There's a lot of big
- 3:12Speaker 2: things in the news, from rich Rod to delegate threats,
- 3:16Speaker 2: and none of it involves Bridge Valley. So there you go,
- 3:20Speaker 2: small miracle, small bear. Well, you got going out over there.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Let's talk a little graduation. You got a graduate graduation
- 3:26Speaker 2: coming up, is that right?
- 3:27Speaker 3: It's a really fun one. You might remember. We have
- 3:30Speaker 3: the Goldman Sachs Group on campus. It's the Goldman Sacks
- 3:33Speaker 3: ten thousand Small Businesses Program. Goldman decided to come make
- 3:37Speaker 3: a pretty significant investment here in West Virginia, and they
- 3:40Speaker 3: picked Bridge Valley to help small business owners develop their businesses.
- 3:44Speaker 3: So what they've seen in other states is that when
- 3:47Speaker 3: people go through this program, they grow their revenue they
- 3:50Speaker 3: hire more people, they end up getting more business. I mean,
- 3:53Speaker 3: they're growing their small businesses. It's the whole point. So
- 3:56Speaker 3: we're really excited because we have our first graduating class
- 3:59Speaker 3: on Friday, and we're just so jazzed for them. That
- 4:03Speaker 3: these are people who many of them you know, already
- 4:07Speaker 3: have degrees, but have decided they really want to be
- 4:10Speaker 3: able to grow their small businesses and that that's the priority.
- 4:12Speaker 3: And so here they are at Bridge Valley getting some
- 4:15Speaker 3: additional training and here's their fridays their graduation and.
- 4:19Speaker 2: That's really cool that, you know, the different institutions of
- 4:23Speaker 2: higher learning that are around and there are plenty, that
- 4:26Speaker 2: they chose Bridge Valley for this.
- 4:29Speaker 3: We are honored. And they really saw the kind of
- 4:32Speaker 3: interactions that we have with our business community and saw
- 4:35Speaker 3: the support that we're so committed to providing to employers
- 4:37Speaker 3: in the region and that we really lead with what's
- 4:40Speaker 3: the job that people are going to need? And Goldman
- 4:43Speaker 3: Sachs saw that as a real strength for Bridge Valley
- 4:46Speaker 3: and wanted to work with us so that we could
- 4:48Speaker 3: actually help business owners in our community.
- 4:50Speaker 2: But they Valance Show and find VEDI Live is brought
- 4:52Speaker 2: to you in part by Morgan and Morgan with more
- 4:54Speaker 2: than twenty billion dollars recovered. They believe that when you're injured,
- 4:57Speaker 2: you deserve more. Morgan and Morgan America's largest injury li
- 5:00Speaker 2: of firm. Let's talk a little about the WIN Academy.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Each time you're on with us, we discussed the Win Academy.
- 5:06Speaker 2: You got some things going on there, and explain again
- 5:08Speaker 2: if somebody's new to the show, what exactly is the
- 5:10Speaker 2: WIN Academy.
- 5:12Speaker 3: So the WIN Academy is a public high school at
- 5:14Speaker 3: Bridge Valley. It's for students who are in their junior
- 5:17Speaker 3: and senior year who are ready to start doing something
- 5:20Speaker 3: that's career oriented. So we have nursing, we have advanced
- 5:23Speaker 3: manufacturing technology, and it's really an opportunity for high school
- 5:27Speaker 3: students to start their career early. So it means then
- 5:30Speaker 3: they come to college and it's completely tuition free for
- 5:33Speaker 3: the time that they're in high school and they can
- 5:34Speaker 3: currently finish high school while they work on their associates degree.
- 5:39Speaker 3: It's saving families thousands of dollars. So we're really excited
- 5:42Speaker 3: about that, and we just reached the end of our
- 5:46Speaker 3: initial authorization period with the State Charter School Board and
- 5:50Speaker 3: we went back and they gave us a five year renewal,
- 5:52Speaker 3: which is the most time they can give us.
- 5:54Speaker 2: That's awesome. I mean that you got there and this
- 5:57Speaker 2: thing has really been a huge success, Doctor Saxson. But
- 6:01Speaker 2: it's also been a model that other institutions of higher learning.
- 6:04Speaker 2: I'm sure have reached out to you about.
- 6:06Speaker 4: It's true.
- 6:07Speaker 3: We've gotten a lot of attention actually from colleagues in
- 6:09Speaker 3: Texas have been really interested in it because dual enrollment
- 6:13Speaker 3: is so big in Texas and it's really a great
- 6:16Speaker 3: way for students to be able to earn an associate's
- 6:19Speaker 3: degree at the same time that they finish high school.
- 6:22Speaker 3: We actually modeled ours off of some programs in North Carolina,
- 6:26Speaker 3: and what we saw in North Carolina was that students
- 6:28Speaker 3: can actually finish an associates degree before they even graduate
- 6:31Speaker 3: from high school. And as long as the associate's degree
- 6:34Speaker 3: is in something where we know that there are jobs
- 6:36Speaker 3: in the community, it really helps accelerate people into the workforce.
- 6:41Speaker 2: It's an amazing program, and I love the fact that
- 6:43Speaker 2: other states are looking to an institution in West Virginia
- 6:47Speaker 2: to learn how they do things. That's pretty cool stuff.
- 6:49Speaker 3: We like that too.
- 6:51Speaker 2: I'm sure you do, Doctor Casey Saxebridge Valleys with us.
- 6:54Speaker 2: I would presume that this is the time that people
- 6:57Speaker 2: are starting to look ahead to the spring semesters.
- 6:59Speaker 3: That right we do. We've had several open houses for
- 7:02Speaker 3: folks to come in and get a sense about our
- 7:04Speaker 3: programs and sign up for classes both. Actually, we've had
- 7:07Speaker 3: a lot of high school students say I'm ready to
- 7:10Speaker 3: start with the WIN Academy in the spring. And that's
- 7:12Speaker 3: completely fine if you're a junior or senior and you've
- 7:15Speaker 3: gotten to a point in your high school career where
- 7:17Speaker 3: you're like, you know, I'm really ready for some more
- 7:19Speaker 3: rigorous coursework. I'm ready to work on my career path.
- 7:23Speaker 3: We've had several families bring in students for the WIN
- 7:26Speaker 3: Academy right now. It's a great time, you know, into
- 7:29Speaker 3: the semester to make a new choice, and lots of
- 7:31Speaker 3: adults are still Our core service population are people who
- 7:36Speaker 3: are thirty years old and have a kid and who
- 7:38Speaker 3: are working a part time job, who say, you know,
- 7:41Speaker 3: I'm ready to change my life. Maybe working in manufacturing
- 7:44Speaker 3: or working in it or working in healthcare really is
- 7:47Speaker 3: for me, and they come back and find Bridge Valley got.
- 7:51Speaker 2: A question for you via the text line here, Doctor
- 7:53Speaker 2: Sachs question for Bridge Valley says the texture does Bridge
- 7:57Speaker 2: Valley offer a veterinarian degree or or may you possibly
- 8:01Speaker 2: do that in the future.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a terrific question. So we actually have a
- 8:05Speaker 3: vet Tech degree we offer in partnership with Carver Career Center.
- 8:09Speaker 3: It's a really terrific partnership and one of my favorite
- 8:15Speaker 3: parts of it is that often we take animals who
- 8:18Speaker 3: are at the Humane Society and bring them in and
- 8:21Speaker 3: do procedures on them with our vet Tech students. So
- 8:24Speaker 3: it's not exactly an internship, but it is a very
- 8:27Speaker 3: hands on experience with animals, so that students who come
- 8:30Speaker 3: out of the vet Tech program can go right into
- 8:33Speaker 3: vet offices in the valley.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Again, we're talking with doctor Casey Sachs of Bridge Valley.
- 8:38Speaker 2: What else is going on on campus before we let
- 8:40Speaker 2: you go? Because I know you always got other things.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Maybe I don't have it in my notes. What else
- 8:44Speaker 2: you got going on?
- 8:45Speaker 3: So it's finals week. Yesterday we actually had a pause
- 8:48Speaker 3: to distress where we brought puppies and kittens on the campus.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Nice.
- 8:51Speaker 3: That's always so much fun.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Do you offer that service for radio, just wondering we.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Really should maybe you could broadcast.
- 8:58Speaker 2: From our lobby anytime, anytime. But anyway, Todd didn't mean
- 9:01Speaker 2: to rupt you with my little smart el like comments
- 9:03Speaker 2: there continue on.
- 9:05Speaker 3: No, It's just something we like to do during finals
- 9:08Speaker 3: week is a lot of destress activities. I know our
- 9:11Speaker 3: student government had blow up dolls downstairs and they were
- 9:15Speaker 3: hitting him with bats, which maybe.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I don't mean to laugh about that, but that's something
- 9:20Speaker 2: we would do here, you know.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Just so you know, I was teasing our student government
- 9:25Speaker 3: president because last semester they raised funds for mental health
- 9:30Speaker 3: awareness by bringing in cars and letting people vandalize the cars.
- 9:35Speaker 3: So it was a but it was a really popular fundraiser,
- 9:39Speaker 3: and so I was teasing him that maybe the student
- 9:41Speaker 3: government needs to get some aggression.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Out maybe maybe just maybe. All right, doctor Sacks is
- 9:46Speaker 2: always it is a pleasure to have you on the show.
- 9:48Speaker 2: You're doing great things, you and the entire institution out
- 9:51Speaker 2: of Bridge Valley. I appreciate you being here, and we'll
- 9:55Speaker 2: talk again real soon.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Thanks a lot, really great to talk to you. Thank you, David.
- 9:58Speaker 2: All Right, doctor Casey Sachs of Bridge Valley, and again
- 10:02Speaker 2: a reminder about the folks a Bridge Valley. If you
- 10:03Speaker 2: need any information about anything we ever talked about with

- 10:38Speaker 2: texts three zero four nine three five five zero zero eight.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Let me get to some text here on Rich Rod
- 10:46Speaker 2: because I knew this was going to dominate to a
- 10:48Speaker 2: lot of the conversation not only on this show, but
- 10:51Speaker 2: also on talk Line with TJ and Dave Wilson coming
- 10:54Speaker 2: up at ten six one says about the rich Rodriguez hired.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Dave also on rich Rod. This shows a lack of
- 11:04Speaker 2: leadership on the part of doctor Gee. The school is
- 11:08Speaker 2: in a free fall with budget and seven percent enrollment decline.
- 11:11Speaker 2: He's tanking WVU, says a Texter. UH Texter says nostalgia
- 11:18Speaker 2: runs strong in West Virginia. Rich Rod may help WVU
- 11:22Speaker 2: win in the conference. No way WVU wins a national title.
- 11:25Speaker 2: I don't think that anybody in the world of football,
- 11:30Speaker 2: and I'm saying this with all due respect, the landscape
- 11:33Speaker 2: of college sports has changed so much. I don't think
- 11:38Speaker 2: that anyone is talking about a potential WVU national championship
- 11:43Speaker 2: in football. I mean, you know, I know that they
- 11:47Speaker 2: were close. We all remember that Grade eighty eight season
- 11:50Speaker 2: with Major Harris when they went out to the Fiesta
- 11:52Speaker 2: Bowl and Tempe and some other hints at it along
- 11:56Speaker 2: the line. But I don't think anybody's talking about it
- 11:58Speaker 2: because it's not all to WVU. You just can't compete
- 12:02Speaker 2: anymore when you are a school the size of West
- 12:05Speaker 2: Virginia University, with the with with with with the Ohio
- 12:08Speaker 2: States and the Georgia's and the Texas Texas I and
- 12:12Speaker 2: Oregons and so on and so forth. I will say
- 12:16Speaker 2: this about the whole Rich Rodriguez thing that it was
- 12:22Speaker 2: interesting to me on social media when when the story
- 12:26Speaker 2: first broke last night and you know, again the worst
- 12:28Speaker 2: kept secret in sports. We all knew it was coming,
- 12:30Speaker 2: or we all suspected it was coming. It was just
- 12:32Speaker 2: a matter of a win. It was interesting to me
- 12:36Speaker 2: scrolling through my social media, which is Dave Allan Radio
- 12:40Speaker 2: and Facebook and at day Base seventy on X looking
- 12:44Speaker 2: at every other post which was this is the best
- 12:49Speaker 2: thing that's ever happened to West Virginia University sports, followed
- 12:53Speaker 2: by this is the worst thing that has ever happened
- 12:55Speaker 2: to West Virginia University sports, and people saying I'm done
- 12:58Speaker 2: with WVU, You'll never get another dime for me, so
- 13:01Speaker 2: on and so on. Well, I mean people said the
- 13:03Speaker 2: same thing about the NFL during the whole kneeling controversy
- 13:07Speaker 2: two from a couple of years ago. At NFL ratings
- 13:09Speaker 2: have never been higher than they are now. So while
- 13:11Speaker 2: some people may have said goodbye to the NFL, certainly
- 13:14Speaker 2: a lot more did not. And I think that's I
- 13:16Speaker 2: think that's true of West Virginia University again. You want
- 13:19Speaker 2: to text me, you want to get with me, anything,
- 13:21Speaker 2: on WVU. Feel free to do that and we will
- 13:25Speaker 2: read those texts as we can. And as I said,
- 13:27Speaker 2: TJ and Dave Wilson are going to do more on that,
- 13:29Speaker 2: certainly coming up on talk Line at ten oh six,
- 13:31Speaker 2: and more on this bizarre story with his delegate out
- 13:35Speaker 2: of the Eastern Panhandle, delegate elect who was arrested and
- 13:40Speaker 2: is charged allegedly with making terroristic threats toward other delegates.
- 13:44Speaker 2: We've got information posted about it, and we'll talk to
- 13:48Speaker 2: a Milia nicely about that coming up a little bit
- 13:50Speaker 2: later on in the show. Texas. Dave reminder free holiday

- 13:59Speaker 2: the Charleston Metro Band. Texas rage rooms are a huge trend. Lol. Yeah,
- 14:06Speaker 2: as nutters as talking about that, that actually is kind
- 14:09Speaker 2: of a big thing right now. With and I can remember,
- 14:12Speaker 2: I'll tell a quick story that I'll go to break.
- 14:14Speaker 2: I can remember years ago being involved in the civic organization.
- 14:17Speaker 2: She talked about people bashing cars with baseball bats. We
- 14:20Speaker 2: actually did that ten fifteen years or so ago in
- 14:24Speaker 2: a group I was part of as a fundraiser where
- 14:27Speaker 2: people would pay money, put on goggles, put on gloves,
- 14:31Speaker 2: and bash the crap out of an old car. That's
- 14:35Speaker 2: that's kind of where we and that was then, so

- 17:28Speaker 2: if you want to make WVU football great again, then
- 17:30Speaker 2: we should all get on board with rich Rod Regaz.
- 17:32Speaker 2: He's the best recruiter to WVU that any other coach
- 17:36Speaker 2: in modern WVU history. Texas Dave have been a supporter
- 17:41Speaker 2: of WVU for forty years. It ended yesterday. We will
- 17:45Speaker 2: support Tony Gibson at Marshall says a texture. Text says,
- 17:49Speaker 2: there is nothing strange about the delegates arrest. He's a Republican.
- 17:52Speaker 2: They have no integrity, honor, or decency. If you think otherwise,
- 17:56Speaker 2: tell me why it's audible to sexually abuse women. Hang
- 17:59Speaker 2: with Notory his pedophiles and depart in January sixth, Criminals.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Tex says, was Rich rod my first choice? No, but
- 18:06Speaker 2: I understand the direction the college athletics are going in.
- 18:09Speaker 2: All I ask of the big donors who want to
- 18:10Speaker 2: coach back is to go all in with their donations
- 18:13Speaker 2: so WVU can compete in the Big twelve. Tech says,
- 18:17Speaker 2: this is a dark day in WVU football history. Let
- 18:20Speaker 2: me know when he leaves WVU, and I will come
- 18:22Speaker 2: back and support the program. Hashtag fire Rich Rodriguez. It's
- 18:28Speaker 2: not even been technically hired yet, Tex says, Dave will
- 18:32Speaker 2: Rich rod Hire Huggy Bears defensive coordinator. This is a joke,
- 18:36Speaker 2: says a texture. Fred Persinger, the voice of high school
- 18:40Speaker 2: sports in West Virginia. You know I'm going to ask you, Fred,
- 18:42Speaker 2: Go ahead, you know I'm gonna ask your thoughts on Rich.
- 18:45Speaker 6: Rodriguez would not have been my first choice. Okay, with
- 18:49Speaker 6: what Texter said, he's a great recruiter. Recruiting has nothing
- 18:52Speaker 6: to do with it in college football anymore. It's how
- 18:54Speaker 6: much money do you have. That's how you get the
- 18:57Speaker 6: great recruits.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Period.
- 18:58Speaker 6: West Virginia has not had a lot of money. Two
- 19:01Speaker 6: point four million dollars in I owe money not Compare
- 19:05Speaker 6: that to Ohio State's twenty million dollars. That's why Ohio
- 19:09Speaker 6: State wins a lot. Again. Rich Rod is sixty one
- 19:13Speaker 6: years old. We're going to see a different rich Rod.
- 19:15Speaker 6: I think you're going to see still a fiery rich
- 19:18Speaker 6: Rod on the sideline, and that's what you want. He
- 19:22Speaker 6: brings a type of football that we haven't had for
- 19:25Speaker 6: a while. We had Marcus Law on the high school
- 19:27Speaker 6: sports line last night. Marcus Law played for rich Rod
- 19:31Speaker 6: when he was at West Virginia University and he's high
- 19:35Speaker 6: on it. He thinks it's great.
- 19:36Speaker 2: So I know.
- 19:36Speaker 6: I think the one thing that surprises me, Dave is
- 19:39Speaker 6: you were reading the text. It's like fifty to fifty.
- 19:41Speaker 2: That's exactly what I said earlier. I said, And look
- 19:43Speaker 2: at my social media feed last night. It was every
- 19:46Speaker 2: other it was this is the worst day in the
- 19:48Speaker 2: history of West Virginia sports. This is the best day
- 19:51Speaker 2: in the history of Western sports. And it's not always
- 19:53Speaker 2: who you think it might be. Because I got some
- 19:56Speaker 2: friends that I think are very very moral people, believe
- 19:59Speaker 2: it or not. I have friends that have morals for it,
- 20:00Speaker 2: believe it or not. Have a few, well, including you,
- 20:02Speaker 2: including you, of course, I'm just glad to know that
- 20:04Speaker 2: you consider me a friend. But but but some that
- 20:08Speaker 2: I know that a very moral character, that were completely
- 20:11Speaker 2: behind rich I talk about him like I know him,
- 20:16Speaker 2: despite some of the problems that he's had in the past,
- 20:19Speaker 2: and they've been very very well documented. But other people
- 20:22Speaker 2: are saying, hey, let's put all this behind us, let's
- 20:25Speaker 2: move on.
- 20:25Speaker 6: And he's got a lot to put behind I mean,
- 20:27Speaker 6: let's speak a whole lot. The way he left Number one. Uh,
- 20:30Speaker 6: he goes to Michigan, cannot win there. He won six
- 20:34Speaker 6: Big ten games the whole time he was there, So
- 20:36Speaker 6: then he got fired. He goes to Arizona, very successful,
- 20:41Speaker 6: but he got fired there for rich Rod actions Okay,
- 20:46Speaker 6: then he's kind of and then he was bounced around
- 20:49Speaker 6: offensive coordinat areas in Mississippi State.
- 20:51Speaker 2: He's been a tu lane at one point am I
- 20:54Speaker 2: making that up? I thought he was a two lane away.
- 20:55Speaker 6: Maybe anyway, he's uh, And then he turned Jacksonville State around.
- 20:59Speaker 2: He did, he really did. So give him credit a
- 21:01Speaker 2: Conference USA championship, right, he was a Conference USA coach year, okay,
- 21:05Speaker 2: and he won a championship too, okay.
- 21:07Speaker 6: And so again I think you have to give him
- 21:09Speaker 6: a chance.
- 21:11Speaker 2: He can coach. There's no doubt about that. So we'll see,
- 21:14Speaker 2: all right, we'll see it goes. Before we talk high
- 21:16Speaker 2: school sports, let me knock out a couple of texts here.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Tex says, you have to ask yourself, will a native
- 21:20Speaker 2: West Virginia coach with provetability be able to come home
- 21:23Speaker 2: and find success. I believe he has a rare opportunity
- 21:26Speaker 2: and will work hard to make it happen. I don't
- 21:28Speaker 2: think anybody's ever said rich Rod doesn't work hard. No,
- 21:31Speaker 2: I don't think anybody else say that. New Slash People
- 21:33Speaker 2: says the textra, if you have players, you know, the
- 21:35Speaker 2: ones who are actually on the field, play in the game,
- 21:37Speaker 2: the drop passes, fumble the ball, or miss field, goalds
- 21:40Speaker 2: et cetera. It's not gonna matter if rich Rod comes
- 21:42Speaker 2: back or not. Why are the players getting nil money
- 21:45Speaker 2: if the coach is the big get Texas Dave nil
- 21:49Speaker 2: and the high salaries for coaches have ruined college amateur sports.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Need to get a handle on all this craziness. Well,
- 21:55Speaker 2: I think, and I understand what the text are saying.
- 21:57Speaker 2: But if you think the college sports is amateur sports,
- 22:00Speaker 2: you got another thing coming, and it's gonna be worse.
- 22:02Speaker 6: It's not gonna be nil. Now it's called revenue sharing,
- 22:06Speaker 6: and I think that's gonna make it even tougher. You think, so,
- 22:08Speaker 6: oh yeah, definitely, no doubt in my mind.
- 22:10Speaker 2: So we'll see.
- 22:11Speaker 6: Like I said, you know, give the guy a chance.
- 22:13Speaker 6: And all I think Mountaineer fans want is wins, you know,
- 22:17Speaker 6: and some of them don't care how you get there.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Texas friend says recruiting doesn't matter only money. That's ridiculously naive.
- 22:24Speaker 2: It's both.
- 22:25Speaker 6: It's not both. You could recruit all you want, okay,
- 22:30Speaker 6: and you go. And they have a great recruiting class.
- 22:33Speaker 6: They have a lot of great players, couple within the
- 22:35Speaker 6: state of West Virginia. But again, number one, if they're
- 22:40Speaker 6: a great recruit, they're gonna want money. That's just the
- 22:44Speaker 6: way the game is today. Sorry, used to be you
- 22:47Speaker 6: played because you love the uniform and the university.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Not anymore. It's the first thing out out of a
- 22:51Speaker 2: player's nouse is how much money do you have?
- 22:54Speaker 9: I was.
- 22:54Speaker 2: I used to laugh because a few years ago one
- 22:57Speaker 2: of the things, and I was actually at WVU and
- 22:59Speaker 2: got a tour the facility and some of the officials
- 23:01Speaker 2: were explaining the different uniform combinations and they said, this was,
- 23:05Speaker 2: you know, just three or four years ago. I was
- 23:07Speaker 2: up there. They were saying then that one of the
- 23:10Speaker 2: first things that recruits ask is what do the unis
- 23:13Speaker 2: as the kids? I hate that term, what do the
- 23:15Speaker 2: unis look like? And they had all of these they
- 23:17Speaker 2: actually had at the facilities building up there, the different
- 23:19Speaker 2: uniform combination right down to the and that's what I thought.
- 23:22Speaker 2: That was ridiculous, and I still think that's incredibly stupid.
- 23:25Speaker 2: I agree with you, however, now now it's how much
- 23:28Speaker 2: money it is and they have.
- 23:30Speaker 6: It's sad, but college football does a lot. Like everything
- 23:33Speaker 6: else in our life, it's about me, and you know,
- 23:36Speaker 6: I just still think it's good. I agree with the
- 23:38Speaker 6: other texture that said that the money and everything else
- 23:40Speaker 6: is run amateur sports. True, very true.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Rich Rodd says a texture will hit the ground running
- 23:45Speaker 2: and try to make retribution for his disloyalty that happened
- 23:48Speaker 2: in his last game when he coached in two thousand
- 23:50Speaker 2: and seven at sixty one. Hopefully he has learned that
- 23:52Speaker 2: the WVU job, as he said, was my dream job.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Rich Rod was the offensive coordinator at Tulane in ninety
- 23:58Speaker 2: seven ninety eight. His high seems to be like a
- 24:00Speaker 2: last resort if it actually ends up happening. What's happened?
- 24:03Speaker 6: I mean, it's happened. It's just they're just dotting the
- 24:05Speaker 6: eyes and crossing the team right now. So it's happened again.
- 24:09Speaker 6: I think the one texture is correct. He's going to
- 24:11Speaker 6: hit the ground running and try to make amends. He
- 24:14Speaker 6: knows he has to. I saw something on social media
- 24:16Speaker 6: last night that, wow, how ironic is this stuff? He left?
- 24:21Speaker 6: Of course, when Pitt beat West Virginia thirteen to nine.
- 24:25Speaker 6: This year coming up in twenty twenty five, West Virginia
- 24:28Speaker 6: will host Pitt on September thirteenth, nine thirteen. Little ironic there,
- 24:36Speaker 6: how dare and I promise we're going to move on.
- 24:38Speaker 6: We're gon't talk about high school sports Texas? How dare
- 24:41Speaker 6: anyone contradict but loved West Virginia treasure Fred Persinger signed
- 24:46Speaker 6: Fred Persinger, how did you do that?

- 25:11Speaker 2: Start your journey towards better health today. All right, the
- 25:13Speaker 2: reason you're here, Fred is to talk about a little
- 25:16Speaker 2: over twenty four hours or so. Now we are going
- 25:18Speaker 2: to be over at Laidley Field to play some football.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Win a little over twenty four hours, right, yeah.
- 25:25Speaker 6: Really, I have the first game tomorrow Cameron and Wahama
- 25:30Speaker 6: and I get one game off. I'm not doing anything
- 25:33Speaker 6: on the game tomorrow night, okay, But then I have
- 25:37Speaker 6: the Quad A or the Triple A and the quade,
- 25:40Speaker 6: so I'm looking forward to it. I think we have
- 25:42Speaker 6: eight tremendous teams. The game that I'm starting with in
- 25:46Speaker 6: single A, you've got two teams. Cameron is twelve and one.
- 25:49Speaker 6: They lost their first game of the season to Edison
- 25:51Speaker 6: Local out of Ohio, and Edison Locals had a tremendous year.
- 25:54Speaker 6: Since then, Cameron has not lost. They've won twelve in
- 25:57Speaker 6: a row. They get Wahama they are thirteen and oh
- 26:00Speaker 6: Wahamma won a state championship in twenty twelve. They beat
- 26:04Speaker 6: Magnolia on the Island in Wheeling forty three forty two.
- 26:07Speaker 6: Game went to overtime. Great game, great game. And then
- 26:11Speaker 6: for Cameron, they've never won. They've never been to a
- 26:15Speaker 6: state championship game in one hundred and fifteen years. And
- 26:19Speaker 6: I think that's a great story. And what's even better
- 26:22Speaker 6: is their cheerleading squad is competing in the Cheer Championships Saturday.
- 26:28Speaker 6: So they are playing at noon tomorrow and at their
- 26:31Speaker 6: own expense, they are spending the night and the entire
- 26:34Speaker 6: football team is going to be at the Charleston Coliseum
- 26:36Speaker 6: to cheer on the cheerlead.
- 26:37Speaker 2: That was the school. You told me that that was
- 26:39Speaker 2: gonna do that, or somebody told me that, and I
- 26:42Speaker 2: was trying, I was trying to remember what school that was.
- 26:44Speaker 2: That's doing that. Yeah, Cameron Dragons.
- 26:46Speaker 6: That's a great game, and that's that'll kick everything off
- 26:49Speaker 6: at high noon tomorrow then tomorrow night. You've got two
- 26:52Speaker 6: undefeated ball clubs in Frankfort and they've never won a
- 26:56Speaker 6: state championship. You've got Ron County, they're undefeated, they've never
- 26:59Speaker 6: won a state championship. They won as Spencer, they won
- 27:03Speaker 6: one as the Old Spencer High School, but never is
- 27:05Speaker 6: Round County. So two teams both looking for a complete
- 27:10Speaker 6: year and be undefeated and win a state title. Saturday afternoon,
- 27:14Speaker 6: it's the game with Herbert Hoover thirteen and oh against
- 27:18Speaker 6: Bridgeport thirteen and oh. Gonna be a great game. It
- 27:22Speaker 6: is going to be a very very good ballgame. Dane
- 27:24Speaker 6: Hatfield for Hoover is mister everything. He scored more points,
- 27:28Speaker 6: he's got more yardage. He's unbelievable, great frame, six foot
- 27:32Speaker 6: four kid. He is one of four sons they still
- 27:36Speaker 6: bring back a memory for you. Kevin Hatfield is the dad.
- 27:39Speaker 6: Kevin played for the old Birch Bulldogs, the Birch Bulldogs.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Yeah. So it's a great beautiful downtown del Barton, West Virginia.
- 27:46Speaker 6: And West Virginia. Mike Smith and the crew. Yeah, Mike, Yeah,
- 27:49Speaker 6: he's still around and doing a great I talked to
- 27:51Speaker 6: Michae a lot. But yeah, Hoover is with Dane Hatfield.
- 27:54Speaker 6: There's four of them, four brothers. The other two have
- 27:57Speaker 6: played the older ones. They've got a younger brother, that
- 28:00Speaker 6: freshman Dylan. He's at Herbert Hoover, so he's keeping the
- 28:03Speaker 6: game alive. Bridgeport is Bridgeport. Bridgeport is just an unbelievable team.
- 28:10Speaker 6: They've scored ninety three touchdown rushing touchdowns this year, ninety three.
- 28:17Speaker 6: Think about that. They run the single wing, don't technically
- 28:21Speaker 6: have a quarterback. They got an h back, F back,
- 28:25Speaker 6: B back, T back.
- 28:26Speaker 10: Aye.
- 28:27Speaker 6: I got all you know, but that could be a
- 28:29Speaker 6: very good ballgame. Offense against a tremendous defense, and Bridgeport
- 28:33Speaker 6: just lines up and says, here we come, stop us,
- 28:36Speaker 6: and no one has stopped him in a long time.
- 28:38Speaker 6: And then the game. I think everyone's looking forward to
- 28:41Speaker 6: seven o'clock on Saturday night. Number one Martinsburg is twelve
- 28:44Speaker 6: and one with an asterisk that was a forfeit. They're
- 28:48Speaker 6: thirteen and oh Spring Mills, they're twelve and one that
- 28:52Speaker 6: one was a seventeen to twelve defeat to Martinsburg back
- 28:56Speaker 6: in the regular season. So two great games, all all four,
- 29:01Speaker 6: all four are going to be fabulous. And really, if
- 29:04Speaker 6: I was just a fan, I would go online to
- 29:07Speaker 6: the WSSAC. I would get the four ticket package. You
- 29:10Speaker 6: get all four games for twenty eight bucks total.
- 29:13Speaker 2: You can't beat that. You cannot beat that. You can't
- 29:15Speaker 2: beat that. And the weather, although it's going to be cold,
- 29:17Speaker 2: it is football, but it's gonna warm up though by Saturday.
- 29:19Speaker 6: Yeah, in the fifties by Saturday in the high forties.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Saturday looks good. And the forecast as of now says
- 29:26Speaker 2: that any rain that rolls through will probably be after
- 29:29Speaker 2: the games on Saturday. That's the way it looks right now,
- 29:31Speaker 2: after the game. So you can't beat that, because I
- 29:33Speaker 2: know at Wheeling Island Stadium, I mean, they've played games
- 29:36Speaker 2: in slavery, snow, tsunamis, you know, you name it, and
- 29:40Speaker 2: it's been.
- 29:41Speaker 6: You know, you're not going to play when a canoe
- 29:42Speaker 6: is rowing down the field, you know, And I saw
- 29:44Speaker 6: that happen.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Before we let you go. Let's talk about Charleston getting
- 29:47Speaker 2: this thing back. I had tim Brady on a couple
- 29:49Speaker 2: of days ago from the Charleston Convention of Business Bureau.
- 29:52Speaker 2: This is something that Charleston that mayor a good one
- 29:55Speaker 2: and the and the folks with the CVB really worked
- 29:58Speaker 2: hard to get here because it was in Wheeling for
- 30:01Speaker 2: so many years Tim and Tim was very very gracious,
- 30:05Speaker 2: insane what a great job he thought that Wheeling did.
- 30:09Speaker 2: And but Charleston won this bid because there was another
- 30:11Speaker 2: bed out there that was a combined effort I understand
- 30:14Speaker 2: between Huntington and Morgantown where they would play at WVU
- 30:18Speaker 2: and Wheeling had a bed and so on and so forth.
- 30:22Speaker 2: But Charleston, they've done a ton of upgrades over to
- 30:25Speaker 2: ladley Field recently with press boxes and so on and
- 30:30Speaker 2: so forth, and there's just it's going to be a
- 30:32Speaker 2: busy weekend and Charleston, you know, hats off to Charleston
- 30:36Speaker 2: for bringing this thing back here.
- 30:37Speaker 6: Tremendous job done by Tim Brady and the crew that
- 30:40Speaker 6: he put together, the committee, Mike Arbagast and Bryce Gastow
- 30:43Speaker 6: and guys that have just really really worked hard to
- 30:47Speaker 6: do it right. Again, when you look at the fact
- 30:50Speaker 6: that they took it away from it from a place
- 30:53Speaker 6: that had been there for thirty years, and Wheeling did
- 30:55Speaker 6: it right. They set the bar very very high, very
- 30:58Speaker 6: very high. But I understand that Charleston is right there.
- 31:01Speaker 6: They got a lot of things going you know, all
- 31:05Speaker 6: the lights at Go Mark Ballpark and everything downtown going on.
- 31:09Speaker 2: It's Brady told me that they wanted to make it
- 31:12Speaker 2: feel like a bowl game for these kids. That that
- 31:15Speaker 2: that they wanted to when they said when they came
- 31:17Speaker 2: in that their helmets are going to be shined up
- 31:19Speaker 2: and their cleats are going to be ready to go.
- 31:20Speaker 2: And you mentioned they're taking them down to Holly Jolly Brawley,
- 31:23Speaker 2: They're taking them over to the to the ballpark, to
- 31:25Speaker 2: the Slangle, all a special dinner for.
- 31:27Speaker 6: Each team aside, it's all going to be a special
- 31:30Speaker 6: of Answerre's no question about that. I'm glad it's in
- 31:33Speaker 6: the capital city because it's just a it's where it belongs.
- 31:37Speaker 6: If the people in Charleston will get behind it, that's
- 31:41Speaker 6: the key. And because the people in Wheeling got behind it,
- 31:45Speaker 6: it was a special weekend in Wheeling. It can be
- 31:47Speaker 6: certainly a special weekend in the capital City. But it's
- 31:50Speaker 6: got to be more than just that committee of thirty
- 31:53Speaker 6: some folks.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Yeah, and we had a text to the show earlier.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Somebody said, let's go Wahama. And so you know you're
- 31:59Speaker 2: gonna have a whole lot of people that are going
- 32:01Speaker 2: to be traveling, and they travel anyway, but especially having
- 32:03Speaker 2: Hoover in it, and especially having Rome County which is
- 32:06Speaker 2: not that far away in Muhamma and all these other schools.
- 32:08Speaker 6: There's another here's another tidbit for you, another tidbit for
- 32:11Speaker 6: MoU okay okay. James Toath is the head coach of
- 32:14Speaker 6: the Lahama White Fountains. He played in the state championship
- 32:18Speaker 6: game thirty years ago, nineteen eighty four. Yep, now that
- 32:23Speaker 6: wouldn't be thirty years ago. Yeah, well no, math Fred
- 32:30Speaker 6: carried the three anyway double James anyway. He played for
- 32:33Speaker 6: the man Hill Billies. And who was the head coach
- 32:36Speaker 6: uh that time would have been Toody Cart Touty Carter,
- 32:39Speaker 6: the late great Tuty Carter who had.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Just lost last year. Yeah. Sure, that good stuff.
- 32:43Speaker 11: Fred.
- 32:44Speaker 2: It's always a West Virginia treasure. As someone called you,
- 32:47Speaker 2: you know what, give me that number, can you? Yeah?

- 38:50Speaker 2: Amelia icedly, thank you.
- 38:51Speaker 12: I am well this morning.
- 38:52Speaker 2: How are you well? You know, this is one of
- 38:54Speaker 2: those things where you have a lot of news breaking
- 38:57Speaker 2: a short amount of time, and I had Fred on
- 38:59Speaker 2: primarily to talkbout the high school fotball championships. We men
- 39:01Speaker 2: spent probably spent more time talking about the Rich Rode situation.
- 39:06Speaker 2: I wanted you on to talk about some testimony from
- 39:09Speaker 2: earlier this week with the interims, but then this story
- 39:12Speaker 2: broke with Delegate DeSoto apparently allegedly threatening to kill other
- 39:17Speaker 2: delegates and being arrested. Let's start for why we had
- 39:20Speaker 2: you here, though. Let's start with that, and then I
- 39:23Speaker 2: may bring TJ in a little bit to talk about
- 39:26Speaker 2: this DESDA situation. So earlier this week kind of set
- 39:30Speaker 2: the stage during interims on the on the first the
- 39:33Speaker 2: hearings that were held, and that the legislators didn't get
- 39:37Speaker 2: the answers that they wanted. Not on the school violence issue.
- 39:40Speaker 2: I'm going to try to touch on that as well,
- 39:42Speaker 2: but on the other issues. On the fatality okay, Yeah,
- 39:45Speaker 2: you know, there was.
- 39:46Speaker 12: A lot of news about children this week at the legislature,
- 39:49Speaker 12: so I had to figure out what'n to talking about. Yes,
- 39:51Speaker 12: So lawmakers passed a bill this year asking that the
- 39:57Speaker 12: Department of Health or Fatality Review Team, which includes pe
- 40:00Speaker 12: from different parts of government, more quickly produce those reports
- 40:04Speaker 12: of what happens when children have died. And there were
- 40:06Speaker 12: numerous reasons for that, but lawmaker's number one reason was
- 40:09Speaker 12: that we want to be able to craft legislation that
- 40:11Speaker 12: protects more children from dying. And when we're looking at
- 40:14Speaker 12: these reports, you're giving us deaths from five years ago
- 40:17Speaker 12: and maybe not always as much detail as we would like.
- 40:19Speaker 12: And you know, to bring it to more recent news,
- 40:21Speaker 12: you know, we had Kennedy Miller, a fourteen year old
- 40:24Speaker 12: who died from a parent starvation in Boom County earlier
- 40:27Speaker 12: this year, and under kind of the way things are
- 40:31Speaker 12: going we wouldn't be able to really review that death
- 40:33Speaker 12: for five years from now. And that's the death that
- 40:35Speaker 12: had a lot of questions around it when it came to.
- 40:37Speaker 10: Our homeschool status.
- 40:38Speaker 12: Right, So when lawmakers gathered this week, they expected to
- 40:43Speaker 12: see fresher data. Again, it was lagging. Now we'll say
- 40:46Speaker 12: the department has said they don't have all the tools
- 40:49Speaker 12: to produce that quicker data, and they kind of came
- 40:52Speaker 12: to a agreement that they'll produce like maybe some par
- 40:56Speaker 12: preliminary data more quickly. But yeah, lawmakers were definitely kind
- 40:59Speaker 12: of like, oh, we told you to do this and
- 41:03Speaker 12: it's not what we wanted. And that is part of
- 41:05Speaker 12: covering the legislature, right, like lawmakers tell agencies to do
- 41:07Speaker 12: things and they.
- 41:08Speaker 2: Don't and they don't and this and this and this.
- 41:10Speaker 2: I mean, this is obviously a very very serious situation. Yeah,
- 41:14Speaker 2: I mean, and I know that. For one, I knew
- 41:16Speaker 2: a Delegate Amy Summers was very upset. Yeah, she appeared
- 41:19Speaker 2: to be very upset about it.
- 41:20Speaker 12: She and Delegate Tully, who are both nurses. This was
- 41:24Speaker 12: really a passion project for them and they are both
- 41:27Speaker 12: That was actually their last meeting, and so they were
- 41:29Speaker 12: disappointed to see that they didn't have any more relevant
- 41:32Speaker 12: data that they could look through.
- 41:34Speaker 5: You know.
- 41:34Speaker 12: And one example is even if there's a certain type
- 41:36Speaker 12: of crib that we see multiple kids die from, or
- 41:39Speaker 12: a certain type of storm drain that multiple kids have
- 41:41Speaker 12: fallen down right, these things happen, and being able to
- 41:44Speaker 12: review that data in a more timely manner allows lawmakers
- 41:47Speaker 12: to figure out what can we craft in legislation to
- 41:49Speaker 12: keep kids healthy and thriving.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Talking with the Milia Nicily from West Virginia, watch all right.
- 41:53Speaker 2: Also earlier this week, there was some testimony about violence
- 41:57Speaker 2: in schools. And when I say violence, I'm not talking
- 42:00Speaker 2: I mean, I'm talking about little elementary school. Yeah, violence.
- 42:04Speaker 2: And I listened to some of the audio, and I
- 42:05Speaker 2: listened to some of the hearing, Amelia, I mean these
- 42:08Speaker 2: teachers talking about getting kicked in the One teacher talked
- 42:10Speaker 2: about getting kicked in the face with construction worker boots
- 42:13Speaker 2: by a youngster, by a you know, seven, eight nine,
- 42:16Speaker 2: however old the kid was.
- 42:21Speaker 14: It.
- 42:22Speaker 2: And I had read that, and I even reference this
- 42:23Speaker 2: on the show earlier this week. I had read years
- 42:26Speaker 2: ago about the nineteen fifties that the main problem that
- 42:28Speaker 2: teachers had as far as discipline goes, was chewing gum
- 42:31Speaker 2: un talking in class guilty, and maybe smoking behind the building.
- 42:35Speaker 2: Not guilty in that my high school actually had a
- 42:38Speaker 2: smoking area, but that's another story for another time. Now,
- 42:42Speaker 2: many teachers in elementary schools in West Virginia, Amelia are
- 42:46Speaker 2: fearing for their safety. Many have left the profession. Talk
- 42:51Speaker 2: about that.
- 42:51Speaker 12: Yeah, absolutely, And I think it's important to note that
- 42:55Speaker 12: in West Virginia we have a large number of children
- 42:58Speaker 12: experiencing trauma. We are in povery state. We have thousands
- 43:01Speaker 12: of kids in a very troubled foster care system. We
- 43:03Speaker 12: have thousands of homeless kids, and in every county almost
- 43:06Speaker 12: half of grandparents race or grandchildren. And in some cases
- 43:09Speaker 12: teachers noted there are what seems to be pretty functioning
- 43:12Speaker 12: homes where they just don't support school discipline. But the
- 43:14Speaker 12: large amount of these kids are coming from traumatic situations.
- 43:18Speaker 12: I mean, one story that broke my heart as the
- 43:21Speaker 12: mother of a kindergartener was that earlier the school year,
- 43:24Speaker 12: I think in September, a child was dropped off at school.
- 43:27Speaker 12: School had already started with an empty backpack, and the
- 43:29Speaker 12: kid didn't know their name or where they lived. Literally
- 43:33Speaker 12: dropped off the school does not have any record of
- 43:35Speaker 12: this child, right, and so these are the situations that
- 43:38Speaker 12: teachers are dealing with. And because of some of these
- 43:41Speaker 12: traumatic events, these kids can be violent, and they stress
- 43:44Speaker 12: that the majority of kids sitting in our classrooms want
- 43:47Speaker 12: to be there and learn, but they are spending a
- 43:49Speaker 12: lot of time clearing all of those kids out because
- 43:52Speaker 12: these violent kids are so the way they're behaving, it's
- 43:55Speaker 12: not safe for the other students, and so they are
- 43:57Speaker 12: really asking the legislature for help. But a key part
- 44:02Speaker 12: of this is that really no one knows exactly what
- 44:04Speaker 12: to do. It's very difficult for these elementary teachers to
- 44:08Speaker 12: expel those students. I learned this week they can't take
- 44:11Speaker 12: recess because it would violate our state laws about kids
- 44:15Speaker 12: needing a certain amount of physical activity. So I don't
- 44:18Speaker 12: know what the answer is. Of course, we had a
- 44:20Speaker 12: school discipline bill earlier this year for elementary teachers that died,
- 44:23Speaker 12: but I like to note that bill had zero funding
- 44:26Speaker 12: attached to it because Senate Education and Chairwoman Ammy Grady,
- 44:30Speaker 12: who's a teacher, told me it will not pass if
- 44:32Speaker 12: it costs money. And I think teachers what they would
- 44:35Speaker 12: like to see is more staff to help these kids.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Exactly right, we're talking to a million nicely from West Virginia. Watch.
- 44:40Speaker 2: I'm gonna go ahead and take the break now because
- 44:43Speaker 2: i want to have you stick around to weigh in.
- 44:45Speaker 2: On a matter of fact, somebody just texted me a
- 44:47Speaker 2: tweet that you sent out, so we'll have you talk
- 44:51Speaker 2: about this because apparently this delegate in question, and again
- 44:54Speaker 2: we've got full information available about it on their social media.
- 44:57Speaker 2: This is Delegate Joseph des Soto out of the Eastern Panhandle,
- 45:00Speaker 2: accused of making terroristic threats and apparently he switched parties
- 45:05Speaker 2: just before, so now he's a Democrat. So this is
- 45:08Speaker 2: going to get really really complicated in a show that's
- 45:11Speaker 2: been filled with complications, and you know from so on
- 45:14Speaker 2: and speaking to complicated, I'm gonna bring TJ. Meadows in

- 48:00Speaker 2: let's go to Dave. You're on with Amelia and Dave
- 48:03Speaker 2: Allen go ahead, Hello, Hello, you're on the air.
- 48:06Speaker 9: I went through this thirty two years ago. My son
- 48:10Speaker 9: was in kindergarten and the classroom was just totally out
- 48:13Speaker 9: of control and we had to take steps. I think
- 48:18Speaker 9: I was the first one to have an aid at
- 48:20Speaker 9: his elbow all the time, but it was just totally
- 48:24Speaker 9: out of control, and in that amount of time they've
- 48:26Speaker 9: never found the answers. I guess we should never closed
- 48:30Speaker 9: Owen's school where the kids had so much more opportunity
- 48:35Speaker 9: to shoot. They had a swimming pool and the parents
- 48:38Speaker 9: were crying taking their kids out. But in thirty two years,
- 48:42Speaker 9: nothing's happened. I got on the talk show and talked
- 48:44Speaker 9: to Gaston Caperson and they hung up on mean while
- 48:47Speaker 9: he answered and said, you know, these children have rights too.
- 48:51Speaker 9: I'm one hundred percent for that. I actually talked to
- 48:53Speaker 9: the parents trying to come up with some guy resolution,
- 48:57Speaker 9: but I called him out. So what about the kids
- 49:01Speaker 9: that they're so disruptive? The other kids can't learn that
- 49:04Speaker 9: they're being sent out in the hallway to sit in
- 49:06Speaker 9: the dirty floor. I mean, in thirty two years, really
- 49:09Speaker 9: nothing's happened, and I feel so sorry for the teachers,
- 49:13Speaker 9: and it's just it's just terrible for the kids. They
- 49:16Speaker 9: don't come to school for that. They've probably never seen
- 49:19Speaker 9: behavior like that in their lives, you know, kids throwing
- 49:22Speaker 9: and biting and kicking, and it's just it's just what
- 49:26Speaker 9: have we learned?
- 49:27Speaker 2: All right?
- 49:28Speaker 9: I was just shocked. I read it on the web page.
- 49:31Speaker 9: You bet this. I thought, what's happened in thirty something
- 49:35Speaker 9: or nothing?
- 49:36Speaker 2: All right? I appreciate that work. I appreciate you that.
- 49:39Speaker 9: I appreciate you guys.
- 49:40Speaker 2: Thank you, thank you very much. Emilia. Let's get to
- 49:42Speaker 2: this delicate Joe Joe de Soto situation, and TJ, you
- 49:46Speaker 2: can jump in here because I know you and Wilson
- 49:48Speaker 2: are going to have more on this coming up on
- 49:49Speaker 2: talk line. But go ahead, Milia, give us the give
- 49:51Speaker 2: us the quick rundown.
- 49:52Speaker 14: Sure.
- 49:53Speaker 12: So incoming House Member Joseph de Soto. He is from
- 49:57Speaker 12: the Eastern Panhandle. He was arrested early this morning for
- 50:01Speaker 12: making threats against other House Republican members. So he's listed
- 50:06Speaker 12: as a pre trial fell in on the website right
- 50:09Speaker 12: now and we're still gathering details. But this kind of
- 50:12Speaker 12: follows some issues on Sunday with fellow House Republicans. They've
- 50:18Speaker 12: been trying to, I guess, for lack of a better terms,
- 50:22Speaker 12: just figure out what to do with DeSoto because they
- 50:24Speaker 12: had brought forth accusations that he lied about his military
- 50:27Speaker 12: service and his career as a physician, and.
- 50:30Speaker 2: So yeah, he was the West Virginia George Santos pretty much,
- 50:33Speaker 2: and so they.
- 50:34Speaker 12: Had had conversations with him on Sunday. I'm told about that,
- 50:37Speaker 12: and I don't think those went well, and so that
- 50:39Speaker 12: has kind of brought us to the place that we
- 50:41Speaker 12: are in now. And several House members posted on Facebook
- 50:44Speaker 12: last night who were victims of those threats. Just kind
- 50:47Speaker 12: of detailing what had happened. And I know one of
- 50:49Speaker 12: them said that I believe it was Delegate Wayne Clark,
- 50:51Speaker 12: that the police had to go to his house with
- 50:53Speaker 12: him last night to make sure that everything was okay.
- 50:55Speaker 12: So it seems like police, Capitol police, Berkeley County police
- 50:59Speaker 12: taking it very serious.
- 51:00Speaker 2: And again TJ and Dave Wilson will have more on
- 51:02Speaker 2: that coming up on the show. But now this story
- 51:04Speaker 2: that you tweeted out earlier, and I got a text
- 51:06Speaker 2: about it as well, that he switched his party to Democrat,
- 51:11Speaker 2: is that right? Yes, I before all this before he
- 51:13Speaker 2: was arrest obviously.
- 51:15Speaker 12: Yes, I think sometime in the last few days, maybe
- 51:19Speaker 12: even yesterday. I don't have a lot of information on this.
- 51:22Speaker 12: I can only go by what is on the Secretary
- 51:24Speaker 12: of State's website. He is now listed as an active
- 51:26Speaker 12: Democrat in Berkeley County.
- 51:27Speaker 10: It's precinct forth.
- 51:28Speaker 2: So that means TJ, when they get ready to, I guess,
- 51:32Speaker 2: choose another one, it'll be the Democrats to choose this.
- 51:34Speaker 2: Is that right? That's my understanding, Amelia.
- 51:37Speaker 12: Yes, possibly, but you have to be sworn in to
- 51:40Speaker 12: be expelled, and he has not been sworn in yet.
- 51:42Speaker 12: That was supposed to happen in January, so there are
- 51:45Speaker 12: a lot of question marks between now and January seventh
- 51:48Speaker 12: or eighth. I believe when those swearing ends were happening.
- 51:51Speaker 12: So yes, if he was sworn in and expelled, then
- 51:54Speaker 12: the Democrats would get that seat. However, let's note that
- 51:57Speaker 12: the Democrats did not have a candidate in that race
- 52:00Speaker 12: for this last election cycle, so I don't even have
- 52:02Speaker 12: a clue who that might be. But again, he has
- 52:04Speaker 12: not been sworn in.
- 52:04Speaker 2: Ecta question marks. Thanks, Vaccines are your best protection against
- 52:08Speaker 2: severe disease from flu in COVID nineteen for sixty five
- 52:10Speaker 2: or older risk. Let's do more with the season's vaccines.
- 52:13Speaker 2: Get started. Vaccines not GOV paid for by the used
- 52:16Speaker 2: Department of Health and Human Services, Texas Dave. Going back
- 52:19Speaker 2: to the kids, they should be able to bust kids butts.
- 52:21Speaker 2: When I was in school, if I made it through
- 52:22Speaker 2: the day without a butt busting, I thought I had
- 52:24Speaker 2: done something wrong. I don't look and you and I
- 52:28Speaker 2: know Amelia, because I know you well, you and I
- 52:29Speaker 2: are going to disagree on this, and that's okay. I
- 52:31Speaker 2: am for one hundred corporal punishment. However, with some of
- 52:35Speaker 2: these kids. We're talking about the ones that are just testimony.
- 52:37Speaker 2: I don't know that's going to do a whole lot
- 52:39Speaker 2: of good with these kids, would you agree?
- 52:42Speaker 12: Can I just say instead, I think it's worth noting
- 52:45Speaker 12: that probably many of these kids are coming from abuse exactly.
- 52:47Speaker 2: That's what that's my foot, that's my point.
- 52:49Speaker 12: I don't know that that would be the best resc
- 52:51Speaker 12: I mean.
- 52:51Speaker 2: And most of these kids they want attention, and TJ,
- 52:53Speaker 2: you're a dad, I'm a cat dad, but but you know,
- 52:57Speaker 2: give it them attention. I mean, I know we got
- 52:58Speaker 2: to wrap it up here. But yeah, I don't know
- 53:00Speaker 2: what an.
- 53:01Speaker 10: Amy Grady said it really well on talk Line the
- 53:03Speaker 10: other day. I think it depends on the child. Some
- 53:05Speaker 10: childs and again children rather if they're not an abusive situation,
- 53:10Speaker 10: may work, may not. I have two that it might
- 53:13Speaker 10: work for. I have one absolutely no. She would beat me.
- 53:17Speaker 9: Up either way.
- 53:19Speaker 12: Consequences are important, and elementary teachers need that power to
- 53:22Speaker 12: be able to have some.
- 53:23Speaker 2: Type of all right, mail your work at people read
- 53:25Speaker 2: your stuff.
- 53:25Speaker 12: West Virginia watch dot com.
