- 0:47Speaker 1: Hello, my lovelies. And when you're hearing this, it is
- 0:52Speaker 1: a home day, so I hope you're having an amazing
- 0:54Speaker 1: week so far. I have pre recorded this episode because
- 0:58Speaker 1: I am currently an awesome and I did not want
- 1:01Speaker 1: to skip getting these stories out. Now I am Terry
- 1:05Speaker 1: True Crime and welcome to Midday Missing, where we highlight
- 1:09Speaker 1: current missing person cases that need more attention. Now we
- 1:14Speaker 1: stream shows every Monday and Wednesday at noon Central. Now
- 1:20Speaker 1: let's get into our cases for today. Now, our first case.
- 1:28Speaker 1: On January twelfth, twenty eighteen, fifteen year old Michael Allan
- 1:34Speaker 1: Dillard vanished from his home in Calvin, West Virginia after
- 1:39Speaker 1: a minor disagreement with his mother. Typical teenager now, he
- 1:43Speaker 1: ran into the woods behind the house, carrying only two dollars,
- 1:47Speaker 1: leaving behind his phone and his eyeglasses. Sadly, he has
- 1:53Speaker 1: never been seen again. Now. Michael was born on December thirteenth,
- 1:57Speaker 1: two thousand and two, now at four years old. He
- 2:00Speaker 1: was adopted and grew up in Calvin, near the intersection
- 2:05Speaker 1: of Tioga Road in Little Beaver Road. He was said
- 2:09Speaker 1: to be especially close to his older sister Britney, who
- 2:13Speaker 1: lived nearby. Now, his family remembers him as a sweet, funny, loving,
- 2:21Speaker 1: and silly boy. But Michael also struggled with severe depression.
- 2:27Speaker 1: In twenty seventeen, less than a year before his disappearance,
- 2:32Speaker 1: he wrote a suicide note, leading to multiple hospital stays
- 2:37Speaker 1: and a long term residential program for teenagers battling suicidal
- 2:41Speaker 1: thoughts and self harm. Now. He remained in treatment until
- 2:45Speaker 1: December nineteenth, twenty seventeen, just three weeks before he disappeared.
- 2:54Speaker 1: But despite these challenges, Michael was making progress. His sister
- 2:59Speaker 1: recalled that only days before he went missing, he described
- 3:04Speaker 1: having the best day of his life. On January twelfth,
- 3:09Speaker 1: twenty eighteen, Michael spent the afternoon visiting his sister with
- 3:13Speaker 1: this mom Now Britney noticed he seemed off that day,
- 3:18Speaker 1: different from his upbeat mood earlier in the week. Back home,
- 3:23Speaker 1: Michael helped his mother and load forty pound bags of
- 3:26Speaker 1: woodstove pellets. When she warned him not to carry too
- 3:30Speaker 1: many at once, he grew frustrated, dropped the bag, shouted,
- 3:36Speaker 1: I'm not going to listen to you, and ran off
- 3:39Speaker 1: behind the house. It was about five pm. Michael ran
- 3:44Speaker 1: into a heavily wooded area without his phone. His glasses.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Without them, his vision would have been severely impaired. He
- 3:54Speaker 1: was last seen wearing an orange or rust colored jacket
- 3:57Speaker 1: and maroom T shirt layered with a black tank top, jeans,
- 4:02Speaker 1: deadpool socks, red shoes, and a three inch silver crossed
- 4:06Speaker 1: necklace on a dag dog tag style chain. That evening,
- 4:12Speaker 1: a storm rolled in and rain quickly turned into snow,
- 4:17Speaker 1: making conditions dangerous invisibility. Poor searchers returned at first light
- 4:23Speaker 1: with helicopters, dive teams, bloodhounds, and the hundreds of volunteers.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Still there was no sign of Michael. About a week
- 4:34Speaker 1: and a half later, his orange jacket was found three
- 4:37Speaker 1: hundred yards from his home by the family's dog. The
- 4:41Speaker 1: area had been searched before, but was now covered in snow.
- 4:46Speaker 1: The jacket was in good condition, raising questions about whether
- 4:50Speaker 1: it had been overlooked or placed there. Later, some theorized
- 4:55Speaker 1: Michael may have suffered from hypothermia, leading behavior's life paradoxl undressing,
- 5:02Speaker 1: which is removing clothes despite the cold, or burrowing hiding
- 5:07Speaker 1: in in closed spaces. These behaviors could explain why searchers
- 5:13Speaker 1: struggled to locate him. Sorry, guys, I'm going to take
- 5:17Speaker 1: a quick drink. A neighbor reported seeing Michael walking along
- 5:24Speaker 1: Tiaga Road in Craigsville, but this has not been confirmed now.
- 5:30Speaker 1: His backpack, which had been left behind at school, was
- 5:32Speaker 1: found empty. Oddly. Classmates said that on the day he disappeared,
- 5:38Speaker 1: he poured water on it and then tried to board
- 5:41Speaker 1: the wrong bus, and mentioned going to see his biological father,
- 5:46Speaker 1: who had been deceased for years. Some wonder if Michael
- 5:51Speaker 1: impulsively hitched a ride with a passing truck from a
- 5:54Speaker 1: nearby industrial stop. Now. Signs were posted asking truckers to
- 5:59Speaker 1: come forward, but no one did. Despite tips and possible
- 6:05Speaker 1: sightings in the months after, none have been confirmed. Now.
- 6:11Speaker 1: The family hired retired West Virginia State trooper John Bonazzo
- 6:15Speaker 1: as a private investigator, calling this the most puzzling case
- 6:20Speaker 1: of his career, he offered a three thousand dollars reward
- 6:23Speaker 1: out of his own pocket. Bonazzo believes Michael did not
- 6:28Speaker 1: plan his disappearance, but he doesn't roll out the possibility
- 6:33Speaker 1: that Michael was picked up by someone. Guys I have
- 6:37Speaker 1: said before, someone can leave home and then something nefarious happens.
- 6:43Speaker 1: It happens all the time now, In October of last year,
- 6:48Speaker 1: police followed up on a new tip, but it did
- 6:51Speaker 1: not leave to Michael's Authorities have said they will continue
- 6:55Speaker 1: to investigate every lead. As of today, more than seven
- 7:01Speaker 1: years later, Michael remains missing. At the time, he was
- 7:05Speaker 1: five foot five, weighed one hundred and one hundred and
- 7:09Speaker 1: thirty three pounds, brown hair, and hazel eyes. His family
- 7:14Speaker 1: continues to fight for answers. They run the Breen Michael
- 7:18Speaker 1: Dillard home Facebook page with over three thousand followers dedicated
- 7:23Speaker 1: to keeping his story alive. Guys, please let's go show
- 7:28Speaker 1: the family some support and follow their page. Now, the
- 7:31Speaker 1: question remains, did Michael fall victim to the elements, did
- 7:37Speaker 1: someone pick him up? Or could he still be alive somewhere.
- 7:41Speaker 1: For Michael's family, especially his mother and his sister, these
- 7:46Speaker 1: unanswered questions are heartbreaking. They just want to know what
- 7:51Speaker 1: happened to him. The search for Michael continues, with that
- 7:55Speaker 1: three thousand dollars reward offered still standing. If you have
- 8:00Speaker 1: any information, please contact the West Virginia State Police at
- 8:05Speaker 1: three oh four eight seven to two zero eight zero zero. Also,
- 8:11Speaker 1: please share Michael's missing poster that we have posted on
- 8:14Speaker 1: our midday missing page and share this video or our
- 8:19Speaker 1: podcast as it does help get the word out. So
- 8:26Speaker 1: if you know of or you have a loved one
- 8:28Speaker 1: missing and are interested in having their story featured on

- 8:36Speaker 1: please contact Amy, our assistant producer, by emailing her at
- 8:41Speaker 1: Amy at tcwtmedia dot com, or you can always send
- 8:46Speaker 1: us a DM on our Facebook page now. On August twentieth,
- 8:53Speaker 1: twenty nineteen, Chandie Rebecca Cochrane was last seen in our
- 8:57Speaker 1: hometown of set in West Virginia. That morning, her mother, Becky,
- 9:02Speaker 1: had returned home to find a handwritten note left on
- 9:05Speaker 1: the kitchen counter the message raad mom, I took off
- 9:09Speaker 1: for a little while. I'm in good hands. I promise
- 9:13Speaker 1: be back shortly. Please don't worry, no need to call
- 9:18Speaker 1: if you need me. Love you chan guys. That is
- 9:24Speaker 1: chilling now. Later that day, investigators confirm that Christopher Spees
- 9:30Speaker 1: of Gilmour County picked Chandas up from her home. The
- 9:34Speaker 1: two traveled to the Birch River area of Nicholas County,
- 9:39Speaker 1: a location that is said Chandas was familiar with, but
- 9:43Speaker 1: spies had a little connection to it. Now Troopers would
- 9:46Speaker 1: later say the belief the pair had gone there to
- 9:49Speaker 1: sell drugs. Guys, no judgment, Okay, no judgment. That night,
- 9:56Speaker 1: Spee's and Chandas ended up at the home of Sam Kelly.
- 10:00Speaker 1: According to Senior Trooper Caleb Popper, what happened next is
- 10:04Speaker 1: where the story became unclear. Now, around midnight, Kelly and
- 10:09Speaker 1: his girlfriend left briefly to buy cigarettes. When they returned,
- 10:13Speaker 1: they reported seeing SPE's and Chandas leaving on foot, walking
- 10:18Speaker 1: in the direction of the local fire department. Guys. That
- 10:22Speaker 1: would be the last time anyone admits to seeing her now.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Spiece later told investigators that Chandace's phone died around midnight
- 10:32Speaker 1: and was never powered back. On the following morning, around
- 10:36Speaker 1: seven am, Kelly City happened to see Spea's walking alone
- 10:42Speaker 1: on Wildon Dill Road, a few miles from Birch River.
- 10:46Speaker 1: He offered him a ride to work, but Chandas was
- 10:50Speaker 1: not with him. Suspicious Now Since that night, there has
- 10:56Speaker 1: been no confirmed proof that Chandice is still a lot.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Troopers have stated that the central question remains what happened
- 11:06Speaker 1: after they left the Kellys house. Now authority suspect foul play,
- 11:12Speaker 1: but with little fiscal evidence answers have been hard to
- 11:15Speaker 1: come by now. Spee, the person she was last seen with,
- 11:19Speaker 1: was later arrested on unrelated charges, including grand marsony in
- 11:25Speaker 1: failure to register as a sex offender. He is currently
- 11:31Speaker 1: serving prison time on those convictions. Guys, that just makes
- 11:39Speaker 1: me worried now. In a letter that Spiez wrote from
- 11:44Speaker 1: prison to a reporter in the area, said, I would
- 11:48Speaker 1: love for Chandice to be found so it would clear
- 11:50Speaker 1: my name. I've sat down with investigators countless times going
- 11:55Speaker 1: over the events of that night Chandace and I was partying.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Been up a few days on meth in xanax, so
- 12:02Speaker 1: my memory was like one of them picture books that
- 12:04Speaker 1: you flip through really fast, frame by frame. I didn't
- 12:09Speaker 1: do anything to Chandas and I don't know where she
- 12:12Speaker 1: is at. Sir, If you've been up for days during
- 12:16Speaker 1: meth in xanax and your memory is not great, how
- 12:20Speaker 1: do you know you didn't do anything to her. Now,
- 12:23Speaker 1: at the time Chandace went missing, She's had brown hair,
- 12:27Speaker 1: blue eyes, five foot three in waves around one hundred
- 12:31Speaker 1: and ten pounds. Now. West Virginia police have searched the
- 12:35Speaker 1: areas in Nicholas and Clay Counties, but to this date
- 12:40Speaker 1: nothing has been found. Now, troop or put it, we
- 12:43Speaker 1: are not going to let this die. This case remains
- 12:47Speaker 1: active and investigators continue to proceed pursue leads. Guys, if
- 12:53Speaker 1: you have any information about the disappearance of Chandas Cochrane,
- 12:58Speaker 1: please contact the West Virginia State Police at three oh

- 14:28Speaker 1: to the time differences, but I will definitely be watching
- 14:31Speaker 1: it on the replay. So guys, as always, until next time,
