- 1:10Speaker 1: podcast that comes after the podcast. Welcome to Disgraceland. The
- 1:14Speaker 1: after Partie. Welcome to the Disgraceland bonus episode, a little
- 1:32Speaker 1: thing we like to call the after party. This is
- 1:35Speaker 1: the show after the show, the party after the party,
- 1:37Speaker 1: the bridge to get you from one full episode of
- 1:39Speaker 1: Disgraceland to the other, the backyard to dig into the dirt.
- 1:43Speaker 1: On this episode we are talking about, among other things,
- 1:47Speaker 1: you Got and our continued serialized season on Wu Tang
- 1:50Speaker 1: Clan Boston and New York Hardcore Halloween, and what I
- 1:54Speaker 1: Want from you guys. Hint it rhymes with I want
- 1:57Speaker 1: your sculls, course, your voicemails, text, dms and more and
- 2:03Speaker 1: as always, a whole lot of rosie. All right, this goes,
- 2:06Speaker 1: let's get into it. Yes, yes, yes, we are back
- 2:23Speaker 1: with another after party bonus episode, as we released chapter
- 2:26Speaker 1: seven of our serialized Wu Tang Clan saga here in
- 2:29Speaker 1: Disgraceland this week. Chapter seven is of course, all about
- 2:33Speaker 1: Lamont Hawkins aka You God. Like many members of Wu Tang,
- 2:38Speaker 1: You God was raised by a single mother and raised
- 2:40Speaker 1: by the streets of Staten Island, the mean streets. We
- 2:44Speaker 1: can say that, right, the mean streets of Staten Island.
- 2:46Speaker 1: To be precise. To quote You God, material stuff is
- 2:49Speaker 1: so enticing when you don't have shit. My mom provided
- 2:52Speaker 1: the bare minimum, but that was all she could afford.
- 2:55Speaker 1: If I wanted to get fresh and has some money
- 2:57Speaker 1: to eat, I had to come up with a plan.
- 2:59Speaker 1: So that's a quote from You God's book, which I've
- 3:01Speaker 1: talked about before raw My Journey into the Wu Tang,
- 3:05Speaker 1: which like I said, I mentioned earlier this week in
- 3:07Speaker 1: our pre party episode. And the plan that You God
- 3:10Speaker 1: is referring to is, of course the drug game in
- 3:13Speaker 1: New York City in the nineteen eighties, a game that
- 3:15Speaker 1: got him arrested, got him sent to jail, got him
- 3:17Speaker 1: nearly killed. That game, that plan that life was tough
- 3:21Speaker 1: to escape from. And if you listened to the episode,
- 3:24Speaker 1: you know that just because you decide to leave that
- 3:26Speaker 1: life behind does not mean that that life leaves you behind.
- 3:29Speaker 1: You God, like the rest of the guys in Wu Tang,
- 3:32Speaker 1: grew up listening to great music. All kinds of great
- 3:36Speaker 1: music was happening at the time. Remember this is the
- 3:38Speaker 1: early eighties, when he's coming up. It's the advent of
- 3:41Speaker 1: hip hop, and in you God's case, his uncle brought
- 3:43Speaker 1: cassette tapes around for him to check out and get
- 3:46Speaker 1: into stuff like Grandmaster Flash, Dougie Fresh, Cool mo O,
- 3:49Speaker 1: d Busy B and the last two in particular engaged
- 3:52Speaker 1: in one of the earliest and most iconic rap battles
- 3:55Speaker 1: of all time way back in nineteen eighty one. Now
- 3:58Speaker 1: goes without saying this, this was a time when music
- 4:01Speaker 1: discovery was extremely different than it is today. And nowadays
- 4:04Speaker 1: it's just it's endless, the amount of music you can discover,
- 4:07Speaker 1: in the ease of which you can discover it. There's
- 4:10Speaker 1: not just so much different content at your fingertips. There
- 4:13Speaker 1: are so many different platforms you can go to and
- 4:15Speaker 1: very easily find whatever it is that you're looking for
- 4:18Speaker 1: or even not looking for. Okay, this is both good
- 4:21Speaker 1: and bad. I can make both sides of that argument.
- 4:24Speaker 1: This is a time. Just remember this is a time.
- 4:27Speaker 1: This is my point again, you had to be somewhat
- 4:30Speaker 1: lucky to discover incredible music. If you were young and dumb,
- 4:34Speaker 1: as most of us were at one point. If you
- 4:36Speaker 1: were lucky, like I said, he had a cool uncle,
- 4:38Speaker 1: an older brother and older sister would passed down tapes,
- 4:41Speaker 1: records to you, maybe mixtapes if you were lucky enough,
- 4:43Speaker 1: because those were personalized, those those might have even been themed.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Or if you were super lucky and you hit sort
- 4:50Speaker 1: of the culture lottery and were born in New York
- 4:52Speaker 1: City in the seventies and came up in the eighties,
- 4:55Speaker 1: maybe even caught something like Mister Magic's rap attack on
- 4:57Speaker 1: the radio. Or maybe maybe maybe you and happened to
- 5:00Speaker 1: see something as cool as Cool Mode Battling busy Bee
- 5:04Speaker 1: in person. It's hard to describe this to people discovering
- 5:07Speaker 1: new music now. It's especially hard to describe it without
- 5:10Speaker 1: sounding like an old bastard. But a got me thinking,
- 5:13Speaker 1: what are some of the most memorable ways that you've
- 5:15Speaker 1: discovered great music in your lifetime? Was it a cool uncle,
- 5:18Speaker 1: was it a mixtape? Was it someone in your high school,
- 5:21Speaker 1: maybe a crush, maybe a boyfriend, maybe a girlfriend, maybe
- 5:24Speaker 1: an older brother or a sister. Or was it was
- 5:27Speaker 1: a radio station, a tiny little college station in a
- 5:29Speaker 1: tiny little town somewhere that you happen to be able
- 5:31Speaker 1: to tune in, or was it something else? Okay, I
- 5:34Speaker 1: want to know what your most memorable music discovery stories
- 5:36Speaker 1: are I've got two off the bat. I mentioned this
- 5:38Speaker 1: in an interview before, so forgive me if some of
- 5:40Speaker 1: you have heard this. But fourth grade, we moved to
- 5:43Speaker 1: a new town, new house. I'm walking in my backyard.
- 5:46Speaker 1: We just moved in. Mind you, I don't have any friends.
- 5:49Speaker 1: It's like it's not raining, but it was, like, you know,
- 5:51Speaker 1: it's like a New England morning mist on the ground,
- 5:53Speaker 1: kind of wet. Bam right there, led Zeppelin one in
- 5:57Speaker 1: a cassette. Just hey, here you go, Jake. We're just
- 6:01Speaker 1: going to open up the rest of your life for
- 6:02Speaker 1: you right here with this cassette. I mean, it was divine.
- 6:05Speaker 1: I have no idea how that happened. I still don't know.
- 6:07Speaker 1: I went in, I played it, and everything changed for me.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I'm not exaggerating. I'd never really even heard led zeppein before.
- 6:12Speaker 1: If I did, I didn't know I did. Maybe I
- 6:14Speaker 1: heard him on the radio and then I find led
- 6:16Speaker 1: Zeppelin one in my backyard. Are you fucking kidding me?
- 6:19Speaker 1: What are the chances in a pre internet world? Another one,
- 6:22Speaker 1: another example that I've given before, probably in interviews. I'm
- 6:25Speaker 1: not sure I've gotten into it in these bonus episodes
- 6:27Speaker 1: maybe I have. Forgive me if I have, but I'm
- 6:29Speaker 1: gonna tell you this story. Anyways. I'm in the sixth
- 6:31Speaker 1: grade now, and I somehow convince my stepfather, who I
- 6:34Speaker 1: don't have a great relationship at the time, to bring
- 6:37Speaker 1: me down to City Hall Music and Clinton Mass right
- 6:39Speaker 1: on High Street, my hometown record store. There's some fucking
- 6:42Speaker 1: Stone or high school drop out behind the counter, and
- 6:45Speaker 1: I go up and I try to buy or try
- 6:46Speaker 1: to get my stepfather to pay for for those about
- 6:49Speaker 1: to rock, We Salute you by ACDC, at which point
- 6:52Speaker 1: the Stone record clerk convinces me. Before he convinces me,
- 6:57Speaker 1: he explains to me that there is a whole other
- 7:00Speaker 1: incarnation of ACDC that existed before Brian Johnson, which to
- 7:03Speaker 1: my sixth grade brain had no concept of. I didn't
- 7:07Speaker 1: know Bon Scott even existed, never mind, did I get
- 7:10Speaker 1: or understand how much cooler Bond Scott era ACDC was
- 7:16Speaker 1: than Brian Johnson era ACDC. Everything opened up for me
- 7:19Speaker 1: there is I mean, I love Brian Johnson, but let's
- 7:21Speaker 1: be cool. There's nothing cooler than bon Scott ACDC. Like,
- 7:24Speaker 1: it just isn't okay. So those are two of my
- 7:27Speaker 1: stories two of my music discovery stories six one seven
- 7:30Speaker 1: nine oh six six six three eight. Leave me a
- 7:32Speaker 1: voicemail or send me a text and let me know
- 7:35Speaker 1: what some of your music discovery stories or let me
- 7:38Speaker 1: know anything. Just leave me a voicemail like this guy
- 7:40Speaker 1: from the five seven to one on Bruce Springsteen.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Good morning, Jake. I hope you can hear me well.
- 7:46Speaker 2: I am in the car a long time listener. I
- 7:50Speaker 2: have to say that my favorite episode that you did,
- 7:53Speaker 2: and I hope think you will do this type episode again,
- 7:56Speaker 2: is your Bruce Springstein. The way you made stories from
- 8:00Speaker 2: his songs was amazing. You know, I went after that
- 8:05Speaker 2: episode and mainlined Bruce Springsteen into my vein, which I
- 8:10Speaker 2: do with most of your episode. As soon as you've
- 8:13Speaker 2: finished your stories about a band, all go turn around,
- 8:19Speaker 2: think on and just like finish that band's music. And
- 8:24Speaker 2: it's a great way for me to spend my morning
- 8:26Speaker 2: before work.
- 8:27Speaker 3: I love it.
- 8:28Speaker 2: So if we could get more of that, I would
- 8:31Speaker 2: be super happy. I know you can't do that with
- 8:34Speaker 2: you know, every band, every song you might have to
- 8:37Speaker 2: interpret the lyrics, and it was probably probably a lot
- 8:40Speaker 2: easier with that Bruce Springsteen album. But It was very enjoyable,
- 8:45Speaker 2: and it really put me in the story. You know,
- 8:49Speaker 2: I had to visualize in my brain what was going
- 8:53Speaker 2: down and how everything played out, and I freaking love it, man,
- 8:58Speaker 2: and I hope to see more of that again. It
- 9:00Speaker 2: was just fantastic already, just go. I can't wait for
- 9:04Speaker 2: the inevitable Cliff Burton episode. I know that one will
- 9:08Speaker 2: be a good one. But I hope you have a
- 9:10Speaker 2: good morning, sir.
- 9:11Speaker 1: All Right, dude, I appreciate the message. Happy to hear.
- 9:13Speaker 1: These disgrace Sand episodes are driving you deeper into the
- 9:16Speaker 1: artists musical catalogs. As for more episodes on the stories
- 9:22Speaker 1: from the artists songs, I think it depends on what
- 9:27Speaker 1: types of songs we're talking about. With Springsteen's Nebraska, like
- 9:32Speaker 1: you mentioned, these songs obviously lended themselves to this type
- 9:35Speaker 1: of story storytelling because a a lot of the songs
- 9:38Speaker 1: are true crime songs. They're literally about true crime events
- 9:42Speaker 1: and true crime characters. Charlie Stark Weather fil tested the
- 9:44Speaker 1: Chicken Man, and that of course sits comfortably on our
- 9:48Speaker 1: side of the street here in Disgraceland. But also it
- 9:52Speaker 1: was compelling for me with Nebraska to take this storytelling
- 9:57Speaker 1: approach because a lot of the characters in the Nebraska songs,
- 10:00Speaker 1: even the fictional ones, felt personal to me and where
- 10:03Speaker 1: I grew up, Like I just mentioned Clinton, mass a
- 10:07Speaker 1: very blue collar, working class town, so I felt like
- 10:09Speaker 1: I could really make something special happen with them. So
- 10:13Speaker 1: I don't know, I mean, it depends if we're talking,
- 10:16Speaker 1: you know, Elton John songs. I don't know that I
- 10:20Speaker 1: can get as much out of it as I did
- 10:21Speaker 1: with Nebraska, but maybe I can. I need to look
- 10:24Speaker 1: at it on a case by case basis. Either way,
- 10:27Speaker 1: I like what you're opening up for me here, so
- 10:28Speaker 1: I appreciate that. As for Cliff Burton, I've been working
- 10:32Speaker 1: on something special for Cliff over the past year, and
- 10:35Speaker 1: I hope to announce that sometime in the future. All right,
- 10:38Speaker 1: let's check out this voicemail from the four to four
- 10:41Speaker 1: to three in Baltimore, or as they say on the wire, Baltimore.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Hey, my name, I'm twenty years old. I live in Baltimore, Maryland.
- 10:50Speaker 2: I was just.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Thinking it would be cool if you did an episode
- 10:53Speaker 3: on people who have overdosed. I'm an addict in recovery myself,
- 10:58Speaker 3: so you know you.
- 10:59Speaker 4: Got you already did any line House.
- 11:01Speaker 3: So you got Mac Miller, you got Juice World, you
- 11:04Speaker 3: got xx extension, lots of them. So yeah, I didn't
- 11:09Speaker 3: know if that would maybe be a good idea for
- 11:11Speaker 3: an episode or I know Juice World would. I know
- 11:13Speaker 3: people would eat that shit up for sure, But.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Yeah, regardless, my number is four four three.
- 11:20Speaker 3: If you want to call me back or whatever. But
- 11:23Speaker 3: either way, I hope you're having a great day.
- 11:24Speaker 4: Okay, bye, all right, thank.
- 11:26Speaker 1: You for the message. Uh your name Goold dropped from
- 11:28Speaker 1: the call, so I did not catch it. That wasn't
- 11:31Speaker 1: me cutting it out, But welcome to disgrace Lane. Happy
- 11:33Speaker 1: to hear your in recovery. Keep going.
- 11:35Speaker 4: Uh.
- 11:35Speaker 1: So, we did do an episode on Juice World, but
- 11:38Speaker 1: it's currently unavailable. However, we will be making it available
- 11:40Speaker 1: and releasing it next month. As for the others that
- 11:42Speaker 1: you mentioned, Kurt Cobae and Mac Miller, xxx, Tantasion, Amy Winehouse,
- 11:47Speaker 1: we've got episodes on all those artists. They're in the
- 11:48Speaker 1: feed right now, and we've also got an episode on
- 11:51Speaker 1: a Little Peete, so check those out. Let me know
- 11:53Speaker 1: if you have any troubles finding them, hit me back.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Six one seven nine oh six six, six, three eight.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Let's check out this voicemail from the four to oh one.
- 12:03Speaker 4: Jay David from the four oh one, I have so
- 12:06Speaker 4: many questions. I don't even know if this take is
- 12:08Speaker 4: going to be long enough. First of all, can you
- 12:11Speaker 4: elaborate on the exclusive Amazon era of Disgraceland and why
- 12:17Speaker 4: it's taken you guys so long to get all your
- 12:19Speaker 4: content back and up on iTunes and whatnot. I don't
- 12:25Speaker 4: know if it's a legal situation if you can't get
- 12:27Speaker 4: into it, but I find that side of the business
- 12:29Speaker 4: very interesting. Also, I would like to know if you
- 12:34Speaker 4: heard about Lamb of Godly singer Randy Blight and what
- 12:39Speaker 4: happened to him in the Czech Republic, allegedly pushing a
- 12:42Speaker 4: fan of the stage and the kid ended up getting
- 12:45Speaker 4: hurt and he ended up doing a year in jail.
- 12:48Speaker 4: I just didn't know if there was an episode there
- 12:50Speaker 4: or if that type of music is just too heavy
- 12:52Speaker 4: for disgrace Plant format. Also, being from the four oh one,
- 12:58Speaker 4: I would love your input on local bands mainly from Massachusetts,
- 13:04Speaker 4: kill Switch, Engage, All That Remains, the Bosstones, the drop Kicks,
- 13:09Speaker 4: you know, all the greatest tips. Just wondering how you
- 13:12Speaker 4: feel about the New England scene, considering that you were
- 13:15Speaker 4: in a band yourself. I appreciate all the content, love
- 13:19Speaker 4: the shows, keep it going.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Rock and rolla all right, David on Amazon real quick?
- 13:27Speaker 1: Just to answer your question here as quickly and as
- 13:29Speaker 1: in the most non boring way that I can the podcast.
- 13:33Speaker 1: We launched this independently. We then signed a sales and
- 13:36Speaker 1: distribution deal with iHeart. Just so you know what that
- 13:39Speaker 1: means if you don't already, it means that they basically
- 13:41Speaker 1: agree to license the content and then they go and
- 13:45Speaker 1: they sell it for you. We did the same thing
- 13:48Speaker 1: with Amazon after that, and the only difference was the
- 13:51Speaker 1: content was to be made exclusive to Amazon. That helps them.
- 13:55Speaker 1: It helps them bring in new listeners, etc. For their
- 13:58Speaker 1: new podcasting platform that they were launched at the time.
- 14:00Speaker 1: And we've since moved on from that deal to the
- 14:02Speaker 1: beginning of twenty twenty three, so we're releasing all of
- 14:05Speaker 1: our previously exclusive content into the wide wide world of podcasting.
- 14:08Speaker 1: That's really it, And you know, I guess the one
- 14:11Speaker 1: more part of your question is why don't we release
- 14:14Speaker 1: it all at once? And the reason is because it's
- 14:17Speaker 1: just overwhelming. There's too much of it. And we need
- 14:19Speaker 1: to spread it out over some months, weeks, etc. But
- 14:23Speaker 1: we will have it all out by the end of
- 14:25Speaker 1: this year. There's only six more episodes I believe that
- 14:27Speaker 1: are still in the archive, and they'll be released very shortly. Okay,
- 14:32Speaker 1: appreciate the question. Oh you have more of your question
- 14:36Speaker 1: here I'm seeing here ask for Boston bands. My favorite
- 14:39Speaker 1: Boston bands for the hardcore slash heavy music scene would
- 14:41Speaker 1: be number one, Soopshot number two, the original Wrecking Crew
- 14:45Speaker 1: with the original singer Glenn Dudley. Number three, I for
- 14:48Speaker 1: an I number four, the Mighty Money Bostons. Number five.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I want to say the Lemonheads, but they're not heavy enough,
- 14:52Speaker 1: so I'm going to go with Doom Riders instead, even
- 14:54Speaker 1: though they have one of my ex bandmates in the
- 14:57Speaker 1: band and I'm biased. Cavan would be a close six.
- 15:01Speaker 1: All right, guys, you know how to get in touch
- 15:02Speaker 1: with me six one seven nine oh six six six
- 15:05Speaker 1: three eight. Hit me up on any topic that you like.
- 15:08Speaker 1: We're storming through this wu Tang series, wrapping it up
- 15:12Speaker 1: midway through October. We're close to the end that we're
- 15:14Speaker 1: coming at you with some serious Halloween content for the
- 15:16Speaker 1: rest of the month. Uh, so, you know, call me.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Let me know what you think of the Wu Tang series.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Let me know what your favorite musical discovery moments are,
- 15:23Speaker 1: some of the experiences you had and finding some of
- 15:26Speaker 1: your favorite bands. Uh, let me know your favorite As
- 15:28Speaker 1: we get into Halloween, this is what I really want
- 15:30Speaker 1: to talk about. Let me know your favorite Disgraceland Halloween episodes?
- 15:33Speaker 1: All right? Six one, seven, nine oh six, six, six
- 15:36Speaker 1: three eight. Favorite Disgraceland Halloween episodes? Is It Black Sabbath,
- 15:40Speaker 1: ac DC, led Zeppelin, Big Lurch? What are your favorite
- 15:44Speaker 1: spooky Disgraceland episodes six one seven, nine oh six, six,
- 15:47Speaker 1: six three eight. To let your beautiful voices be heard,
- 15:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna give my voice a rest and drink some tea.
- 15:52Speaker 1: I'll be back at you in a flash with your
- 15:54Speaker 1: text check one too. All right, we are back. And
- 16:19Speaker 1: I know I said I was gonna start with some texts,
- 16:21Speaker 1: but I'm actually gonna start with some dms because I've
- 16:23Speaker 1: been neglecting the dms. And I apologize. Social media has
- 16:27Speaker 1: just been it's been tough to navigate for me lately.
- 16:30Speaker 1: It's just been I got a lot going on and
- 16:32Speaker 1: I find it to be Uh, how do, I say
- 16:34Speaker 1: this politely A time suck, but I don't like neglecting
- 16:38Speaker 1: you guys. So let's do some dms before I do
- 16:41Speaker 1: a bunch of texts and then I feel like not
- 16:42Speaker 1: doing dms. Okay, we'll do the dms, then we'll do
- 16:44Speaker 1: the text So this one on Facebook from Jeff, and
- 16:48Speaker 1: I hope I'm pronouncing this correctly. Batustic says, I really
- 16:52Speaker 1: enjoy your work and the detail you put into it.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I'm curious if you ever did an episode on one
- 16:56Speaker 1: of my favorite rock bands that I saw nine times,
- 16:59Speaker 1: the Ramones. Thank you for your hard work. You got it, Jeff,
- 17:03Speaker 1: And yes, we have done an episode on the Ramones.
- 17:04Speaker 1: You can find that in the archive. It's available now
- 17:08Speaker 1: wherever you get your podcasts. And though we were talking
- 17:11Speaker 1: about music discovery earlier, the way I discovered the Ramones
- 17:15Speaker 1: is worth mentioning here. I think, in a little apropos
- 17:18Speaker 1: as they say, I discovered the Ramones through my dad.
- 17:22Speaker 1: My dad showed up one day and was like, Hey,
- 17:25Speaker 1: we're going to go see my band play and we're
- 17:29Speaker 1: opening up for this band and they're an important band.
- 17:32Speaker 1: They're called the Ramones, and he described them to me.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I was at the time probably ten nine, maybe nine, Yeah,
- 17:39Speaker 1: I think I was maybe eight actually, and he described
- 17:43Speaker 1: them as being very important. I remember that, and then
- 17:45Speaker 1: I didn't know what that meant, but I remember he
- 17:49Speaker 1: said they're like the Beach Boys, but they're very, very loud,
- 17:52Speaker 1: and that meant something to me because I was all
- 17:55Speaker 1: about the Beach Boys at that period in my life.
- 17:58Speaker 1: You know, barbar Ba ran Arab not pet sounds. But anyways,
- 18:02Speaker 1: tying a little music discovery into Jeff's text on the remotes, Jeff,
- 18:05Speaker 1: go get that ramotes episode. It's in the archive right now.
- 18:09Speaker 1: This message comes on Facebook from Natalie Stewart, who writes, Jake,

- 18:37Speaker 1: sit down and listen to this and enjoy. I'm just
- 18:39Speaker 1: not there yet, but psyched to hear that you're into it.
- 18:42Speaker 1: I read a bad review of it last night on
- 18:44Speaker 1: the internet, but I'm going to go with your take
- 18:46Speaker 1: on it, Natalie, so thank you. Teresa Beers writes in

- 19:51Speaker 1: Rock a Rolla in the cooler out in the wild
- 19:54Speaker 1: at some liquor store. I'm not sure where Aaron is.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Aaron's from Maine, actually, so I'm betting that's in main.
- 19:59Speaker 1: If you guys live in Maine or New England, you know,
- 20:01Speaker 1: go there, get a four pack of Rock and Rolla
- 20:04Speaker 1: Disgrace Lamb beer gluten free for those who don't do
- 20:06Speaker 1: the gluten like me. I do it sometimes I try
- 20:09Speaker 1: not to, all right, Justin Geisner if I'm saying that
- 20:12Speaker 1: correctly on on Instagram?
- 20:15Speaker 4: Right?
- 20:15Speaker 1: Sin give this playlist a listen anthology discography and it's
- 20:19Speaker 1: a John Carpenter anthology of movie themes from nineteen seventy
- 20:23Speaker 1: four to two. As I say, nineteen ninety three, is
- 20:27Speaker 1: that right? My eyes are bad says it's the best
- 20:30Speaker 1: of John Carpenter's movie music, Disgrace, Lamp, bad Lands, Combo
- 20:33Speaker 1: plus You married Adrian Barbo Deuces.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I'm pumped on this man. Thank you, Justin. I appreciate it,
- 20:41Speaker 1: very halloweeny digging it. I have this thing where I
- 20:44Speaker 1: put the soundtrack for the fog on in front of
- 20:47Speaker 1: my five year old and I start talking like this
- 20:50Speaker 1: and he freaks the fuck out. It doesn't matter what
- 20:52Speaker 1: I say. I can be like it's time for bed,
- 20:54Speaker 1: we need to get your blanket, and when the fog
- 20:57Speaker 1: is playing in the background, it just fucking I'm such
- 21:00Speaker 1: a shitty dad. Anyways, all right, let's move on here
- 21:04Speaker 1: a little. Uh do a little text messages like I
- 21:06Speaker 1: said six one seven nine oh six six six three
- 21:08Speaker 1: eight two Sunday text. Uh, well, if you know I
- 21:11Speaker 1: get in touch with me, you want to said do
- 21:12Speaker 1: this on dm at, Disgrace, lampod, Instagram X and Facebook
- 21:16Speaker 1: as we just mentioned. But let's do some texts, all right.
- 21:20Speaker 1: This one comes in from the two five to two
- 21:22Speaker 1: Low Hanging Fruit. Here, Jake Yon Wiener is a sleepy blowjob.
- 21:27Speaker 1: This is a response to the pre party question where
- 21:30Speaker 1: I asked for I asked you guys to work Yon
- 21:34Speaker 1: Winner's name into a fictional porn movie. So uh two
- 21:37Speaker 1: five two writes in Yon Wiener's a Sleepy blow Job plot,
- 21:41Speaker 1: the story of a young woman Stacey, a self made
- 21:44Speaker 1: millionaire who has never experienced that deep love, finds herself
- 21:47Speaker 1: strangely attracted to Kevin, a mom mannered tax attorney who
- 21:50Speaker 1: moonlights as a writer. Oh boy, I'm not gonna go
- 21:53Speaker 1: on here. There's a lot of rough sex stuff and
- 21:55Speaker 1: uh three ways and wow, two five to two is
- 21:58Speaker 1: going for it. Two five two, I'm gonna name you, Jeremy.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Jeremy appreciate the text, not gonna get into all the
- 22:06Speaker 1: X rated parts of it, but let's keep going here.
- 22:09Speaker 1: The seven oh six rights in. Just finish the mini episode.
- 22:12Speaker 1: And as for the Bob Dylan question, I'm gonna be
- 22:14Speaker 1: blasphemous for a few of these as a warning. Nirvana,
- 22:17Speaker 1: Lincoln Park, and Soundgarden, just to name a few. Then
- 22:20Speaker 1: the little devil le me just screamed out having him
- 22:22Speaker 1: do a song with Eminem, simply because why the fuck
- 22:24Speaker 1: not take care and keep up the great storytime. This
- 22:27Speaker 1: is a reference to the question of who would you
- 22:28Speaker 1: want to see backing Bob Dylan. Uh, well, you know,
- 22:32Speaker 1: Lincoln Park, Soundgarden, and Nirvana all have dead guys in
- 22:35Speaker 1: those bands, or I should say not in those bands.
- 22:37Speaker 1: So Eminem, Bob Dylan and Eminem. Uh, that would be
- 22:42Speaker 1: worth the price of entry, simply for the shit show factor.
- 22:45Speaker 1: I'd like to see Eminem and Bob Dylan arguing together.
- 22:48Speaker 1: That'd be fucking great. All right, The nine to five
- 22:51Speaker 1: four rights in. Hey, Jake, listening to your podcast, totally
- 22:54Speaker 1: hooked and love your shows Disgraceland and Badlands. Really love
- 22:57Speaker 1: the Mama Cass Disgrace Sland episode. I find the fact
- 22:59Speaker 1: that Sharon Tate and Charles Manson at a party together
- 23:03Speaker 1: just brings me chills. Keep doing what you're doing. You
- 23:05Speaker 1: are amazing, Hey, nine five four. We've got this other
- 23:07Speaker 1: podcast called The bad Lands, as you know, right, And
- 23:11Speaker 1: in bad Lands we did two mirror episodes to the
- 23:14Speaker 1: Mama Cass episodes. We did two Sharon Tate episodes, and
- 23:17Speaker 1: I encourage you to go check those out if you
- 23:19Speaker 1: have not already. Kind of a Rushamon thing. All right,
- 23:22Speaker 1: all right, let's see what else? All right? This one
- 23:29Speaker 1: from the four oh four right sin All right, Hey,
- 23:33Speaker 1: an old student Ish that I have lost touch with
- 23:37Speaker 1: since his divorce and his move call to your show today.
- 23:40Speaker 1: We have the same discussion back in two thousand and
- 23:42Speaker 1: eight at the waffle house. I know his voice from anywhere.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Hearing made my heart soften. Thank you, well, you got it.
- 23:48Speaker 1: This is coming from who This person does not give
- 23:52Speaker 1: their name or do they Let me go back through
- 23:55Speaker 1: these texts here that aren't apropos. No, oh yeah, Matthew.
- 24:00Speaker 1: This person's name is Matthew. I know because I responded
- 24:03Speaker 1: to a voicemail so ish your teacher. Matthew wrote in
- 24:08Speaker 1: and wants to connect. So there you go. Let's disgrace
- 24:11Speaker 1: Land bringing people together. All right, what else we got here?
- 24:14Speaker 1: Let's see from the four one two on the question
- 24:15Speaker 1: of who do we want backing, Bob Dylan says, hey, Jake,
- 24:17Speaker 1: I want Bob Dylan to front Nirvana. Sounds crazy, but
- 24:20Speaker 1: I think with silver songs that would work. I think
- 24:22Speaker 1: you're you know, you may be right, and I would
- 24:24Speaker 1: I would love to hear that. That would be incredible.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Ah right, Let's do one more, all right, this one
- 24:30Speaker 1: from the eight three to one. This person writes in, uh,
- 24:33Speaker 1: it's a link to the news about the arrest and
- 24:36Speaker 1: the Tubox shakercase, and writes TUPAC update episode, to which
- 24:41Speaker 1: I answer, yes, most definitely, but I need more information.
- 24:44Speaker 1: There's definitely more than this out there than we're getting
- 24:47Speaker 1: here so far. Hopefully something happens in this case that
- 24:51Speaker 1: allows the information to be disseminated quickly. Once that happens,
- 24:55Speaker 1: I will update the episodes. You got it you heard
- 24:59Speaker 1: it here first, all right? Six one seven nine oh
- 25:01Speaker 1: six six six three eight. You guys want to leave
- 25:03Speaker 1: me a voicemail, you want to send me a text,
- 25:04Speaker 1: That's how you do it at Disgraced Slam Pod to
- 25:07Speaker 1: dm me. I'm gonna take a quick break and I'll
- 25:09Speaker 1: be back in a flash with your recommendations. All right,
- 25:26Speaker 1: we are back in. This is the recommendation's part. The
- 25:28Speaker 1: recommendation's part, the part where we recommend the things that
- 25:30Speaker 1: need recommending, the recommendations part. All right. I've been prepping
- 25:33Speaker 1: for this interview that I'm about to do with a
- 25:34Speaker 1: friend of mine for his hardcore zine, and it's gonna
- 25:37Speaker 1: be listening to a ton of classic hardcore. Since I
- 25:40Speaker 1: spoke about Boston hardcore earlier, I'm going to top five
- 25:43Speaker 1: my favorite New York hardcore bands in order give you
- 25:47Speaker 1: guys one album meach to go check out. If you're
- 25:49Speaker 1: not a fan yet of any of these artists that
- 25:51Speaker 1: I mentioned, but you're looking for a place to start.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Number five, Murphy's Law, Back with the Bong, Number four, Leeway,
- 25:58Speaker 1: Born to Expire, Umber three, quicksand Slip number two, Sick
- 26:02Speaker 1: of It All, Blood, Sweat and No Tears. Number one,
- 26:05Speaker 1: Chromag's Age of Quarrel. All right, So I've been getting
- 26:09Speaker 1: The reason I did this also is because I've been
- 26:11Speaker 1: getting dms. We've been talking a lot about heavy music,
- 26:14Speaker 1: been getting dms from a lot of you that I
- 26:16Speaker 1: really appreciate on new modern heavy stuff. So I just
- 26:19Speaker 1: started thinking, Like I said, I'm prepping for this interview,
- 26:21Speaker 1: and part of the interview is I have to come
- 26:23Speaker 1: up with three songs that really mean something to me
- 26:27Speaker 1: from the hardcore scene, and the three of them are
- 26:29Speaker 1: going to come from this pile of five that I
- 26:31Speaker 1: just mentioned. I thought, Hey, this might make for some
- 26:33Speaker 1: good recommendations for you guys if you're interested in New
- 26:37Speaker 1: York harcore or old school hardcore. All right, you Hedy
- 26:40Speaker 1: mentioned this before. It is the Halloween season. I fucking
- 26:44Speaker 1: love the Halloween season. I don't like dressing up, but
- 26:47Speaker 1: I like all the content, all the Halloween content that
- 26:51Speaker 1: surrounds the Halloween season. And for the past two years,
- 26:56Speaker 1: my wife and I have had these pretty epic Halloween parties,
- 27:01Speaker 1: dinner parties, I should say not parties, but dinner parties
- 27:03Speaker 1: where we've invited, like, you know, fourteen sixteen friends over.
- 27:07Speaker 1: We've had some great food and I've made I've I've had.
- 27:11Speaker 1: I had this Halloween mix that I that I've been
- 27:13Speaker 1: adding to for the last couple of years. So I thought,
- 27:16Speaker 1: all right, I can only pick five Halloween songs? What
- 27:20Speaker 1: are they? What are the five Halloween stuff I could
- 27:23Speaker 1: only listen to five this Halloween season? What would they be?
- 27:25Speaker 1: And here they are in reverse order. Number five Killing
- 27:28Speaker 1: Moon by Echo and the Bunnyman. If you've seen Donnie Darko,
- 27:32Speaker 1: you know exactly what I'm talking about. Number four Give
- 27:34Speaker 1: Me Danger by the Stooges, which most people I don't
- 27:37Speaker 1: think associate with Halloween, but I don't care because it
- 27:40Speaker 1: is creepy. It is a creepy sounding fucking tune, as
- 27:44Speaker 1: is Midnight Blues by Detroit Cobras, which I also don't
- 27:47Speaker 1: think people are gonna associate with Halloween. Wolf Like Me
- 27:51Speaker 1: by TV on the radio. This song, man, it comes
- 27:55Speaker 1: on and you know, it's just hard to slow down.
- 27:57Speaker 1: It's hard. It's hard for me to pump the brakes.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Number one classic Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon. Okay,
- 28:03Speaker 1: those are my top five. You can only pick five
- 28:06Speaker 1: Halloween songs, what are they? Six one, seven, nine oh six, six,
- 28:09Speaker 1: six three eight to let me know. Hard for me
- 28:11Speaker 1: not to put Venus of Avenue d by make the
- 28:12Speaker 1: vill on this list because it's, uh, it's not necessarily
- 28:16Speaker 1: it's not intentionally spooky. But if I were walking through
- 28:19Speaker 1: Alphabet City in the nineteen seventies on Halloween, I'm pretty
- 28:22Speaker 1: sure I get jumped by the chick who is described
- 28:24Speaker 1: in this song. But that's another story, all right again.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Six one, seven, nine oh six, six, six three eight.
- 28:29Speaker 1: To give me your top five Halloween songs, Leave me
- 28:31Speaker 1: a voicemail, send me a text. Do what you Gotta Do? That, incidentally,
- 28:37Speaker 1: is another great song, do what you Gotta Do by
- 28:38Speaker 1: Al Wilson, So there's that recommendation. Check that shit out,
- 28:42Speaker 1: check it out on the Blood Ties soundtrack, and then
- 28:44Speaker 1: go check out the film Blood Ties with Billy crut
- 28:46Speaker 1: Up and hit me back. When you're at the bottom
- 28:48Speaker 1: of that bottle balling your eyes out to Al Wilson,
- 28:50Speaker 1: I'll be here for you. Come on back and see
- 28:51Speaker 1: me when you can. As the man says, all right,
- 28:54Speaker 1: I am in a Halloween mood. Got a Halloween head,
- 28:56Speaker 1: which is the name of an incredible Riot Adams song
- 28:59Speaker 1: that should probably be on my list of top five
- 29:01Speaker 1: Halloween songs. But that reminds me of the Ryan Adams
- 29:03Speaker 1: video for Give Me Something Good with Elvira, which is
- 29:06Speaker 1: certainly one of the best Halloween music videos. But what
- 29:09Speaker 1: are the others? All right, hit me up top five
- 29:12Speaker 1: our favorite Halloween music videos. All right, actually, how about
- 29:15Speaker 1: we hold that one for next week. Hit me with
- 29:17Speaker 1: your top five Halloween music videos. We'll get into it
- 29:19Speaker 1: in the recommendation's part of next week's after party. All Right,
- 29:22Speaker 1: we got a lot we went through here. I want
- 29:23Speaker 1: your top five Halloween videos. I want your top five
- 29:25Speaker 1: Halloween songs. I want to know the interesting ways in
- 29:28Speaker 1: which you discovered music. Six one seven, nine oh six,
- 29:31Speaker 1: six six three eight. For all of that voicemail and
- 29:34Speaker 1: text or at disgrace slampod on the socials, I'm gonna
- 29:38Speaker 1: take a quick break, pay some bills, come back and
- 29:40Speaker 1: recap this bitch. All right, let's recap, shall we? Number one?
