- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, everyone, welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a bonus episode
- 0:14Speaker 1: of Long Story Short the podcast. I'm Megan, I'm Wendy.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Today we're discussing Fit for a Prince, which is a
- 0:21Speaker 1: standalone movie that does not fall into one of the categories.
- 0:25Speaker 1: And I actually have some thoughts about why that is,
- 0:27Speaker 1: but we'll get into that.
- 0:27Speaker 2: In a minute. Okay. If you're new to us, Megan.
- 0:31Speaker 3: That's me.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I'm a long time Hallmark fan. Deep in my heart,
- 0:34Speaker 1: I love Hallmark, and Wendy has been dragged, kicking and
- 0:37Speaker 1: screaming into the Hallmark world.
- 0:40Speaker 2: That's funny you mentioned that I cannot wait. I feel
- 0:44Speaker 2: like something good is coming. All right, If you want
- 0:47Speaker 2: more from us, because this is technically a bonus episode,
- 0:50Speaker 2: we have regular Cornerstone episodes dropping every Tuesday. We would
- 0:55Speaker 2: love for you to hop on over and take a
- 0:57Speaker 2: listen to those. This week we talked all about Fomo,
- 1:00Speaker 2: the fear of missing out and the ridiculous things fear
- 1:04Speaker 2: that we're missing out on. But you know, those episodes
- 1:07Speaker 2: aren't just about what they're about. This week we also
- 1:10Speaker 2: talked about some new fun news from the CDC, which
- 1:13Speaker 2: you don't really hear fun in CDC in the same sentence,
- 1:15Speaker 2: but let me tell you it was exciting.
- 1:17Speaker 1: We talked about the wireless bra revelation that I am having,
- 1:22Speaker 1: more about comfortable undies, what you should be sleeping in
- 1:25Speaker 1: another podcast we're loving there's so much stuff over there.
- 1:28Speaker 1: And we also round out every single one of those
- 1:30Speaker 1: episodes with a Megan and Wendy approved item, something that
- 1:34Speaker 1: we're currently loving and that we want to just share
- 1:37Speaker 1: with the world. So if we need done with this episode,
- 1:39Speaker 1: hop on over and take a listen to that. One
- 1:42Speaker 1: quick programming note, there will be no Hallmark episode next
- 1:45Speaker 1: week because there is no new Hallmark movie this weekend,

- 2:56Speaker 1: Megananwindy at gmail dot com and I think we have
- 2:59Speaker 1: one today we do. This is from Lisa, who says,
- 3:04Speaker 1: as a comment to our last episode about it was
- 3:07Speaker 1: always You, you should watch When Calls the Heart.
- 3:10Speaker 2: I love her in that series.
- 3:13Speaker 1: No, it's like Little House on the Prairie for grown ups,
- 3:19Speaker 1: not racy or anything, but a nice show, clean cut
- 3:21Speaker 1: heartbreak last and she's so pretty with her long hair.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I enjoy your podcast. It always makes me smile.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Oh, that's very nice, thank you, But I am not
- 3:31Speaker 2: watching that show. There's so many seasons to catch up on.
- 3:36Speaker 2: First of all, No, I can't. I can't do it.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Unless it's like life changing, then talk to me. Otherwise
- 3:43Speaker 2: I'm just gonna hard pass for me. I'm going to
- 3:46Speaker 2: give it a try. I'm committing here. I'm going to
- 3:48Speaker 2: give it a try. I can't try because and this
- 3:51Speaker 2: is what I'm going to talk about real quick here,
- 3:54Speaker 2: kicking and screaming. I told my husband over the weekend
- 3:57Speaker 2: that I'm starting starting to fill a little bit when
- 4:00Speaker 2: I have to sit down and watch these movies, and
- 4:04Speaker 2: it's it's like work to me. But is Spring Fling
- 4:10Speaker 2: the end of Girls Gone Hallmark? I don't think so.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I'm really looking forward to a break this weekend. So
- 4:21Speaker 2: I feel like I have watched so many movies.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Look as much as I love a Hallmark movie, I
- 4:25Speaker 1: do sometimes feel like knowing that I have a deadline
- 4:29Speaker 1: in which to watch one and that I have to
- 4:31Speaker 1: sit and take notes on it. Sometimes it does make
- 4:33Speaker 1: me feel a little bit resentful, especially when the movie
- 4:35Speaker 1: is a stinker like this one, and I think you
- 4:41Speaker 1: might get an even bigger break in between Spring Fling
- 4:45Speaker 1: and the summer movies, So that might be another gift
- 4:49Speaker 1: for you.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Okay, I think during that break we're going to watch
- 4:54Speaker 2: some things that I want to watch. I'm in okay,
- 4:58Speaker 2: it's only fair, all right? So talk about fit for
- 5:01Speaker 2: a prince? Do you have a synopsis for us? I
- 5:05Speaker 2: don't hold on a second every week. It looks like our
- 5:11Speaker 2: twenty second hallmark of it? Is it? Really? It's been
- 5:15Speaker 2: a lot okay, Fit for a prince? Shut up? Oh
- 5:21Speaker 2: and it has to be long too, okay, Fit for
- 5:24Speaker 2: a prince. Cindy is an aspiring fashion designer whose talents
- 5:29Speaker 2: have been the creative force behind a high profile designer,
- 5:32Speaker 2: but longs to strike out on her own. Hired to
- 5:36Speaker 2: dress the ladies of a wealthy family hosting in an
- 5:39Speaker 2: upcoming charity ball, Cindy's life takes an unexpected turn when
- 5:43Speaker 2: Prince ronan A in town to attend the gala, becomes
- 5:48Speaker 2: smitten with her and also takes note of her talent
- 5:51Speaker 2: for design. Okay, sorry, news and notes first, I don't
- 6:01Speaker 2: have that many news and notes for this guy. I
- 6:03Speaker 2: don't even know when this movie was made, do you.
- 6:06Speaker 2: I don't know when it was made, only where it
- 6:08Speaker 2: was made. Yeah, so I wonder is this one that
- 6:12Speaker 2: they've just had laying around in the can No. No,
- 6:18Speaker 2: and I'll tell you why it's not.
- 6:21Speaker 1: I this morning, after I took all my notes, I
- 6:24Speaker 1: listened to Deck the Hallmark, which is a dude's Hallmark podcast,
- 6:29Speaker 1: and they said, I thought it was very interesting. And
- 6:32Speaker 1: the reason I didn't notice this is because I watched
- 6:34Speaker 1: this like barely, like half an eye on it.
- 6:38Speaker 2: I was doing other things.
- 6:39Speaker 3: I don't want to give away my first impression.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Let me just say I missed this because I was
- 6:44Speaker 1: not paying close attention. But they said, there's a scene
- 6:46Speaker 1: where they're walking through town and in the background you
- 6:48Speaker 1: can see.
- 6:49Speaker 3: People wearing masks.
- 6:50Speaker 2: No, stop it right now now. Was I invested enough
- 6:54Speaker 2: to go back and look at that scene? No, I
- 6:56Speaker 2: was not.
- 6:57Speaker 1: But uh, they said it was very interesting because Hallmark
- 7:01Speaker 1: has gone to great pains to pretend like the pandemic
- 7:03Speaker 1: doesn't exist. And you've never seen anything anywhere in these
- 7:07Speaker 1: outdoor scenes that would.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Suggest would live in a pandemic.
- 7:10Speaker 3: So that's how I know.
- 7:11Speaker 2: It was filmed within the last six months. Let's say, Wow,
- 7:15Speaker 2: that's interesting. I didn't notice that either at all. But
- 7:20Speaker 2: that doesn't make any sense if you're watching a movie,
- 7:23Speaker 2: like why don't all these people in the background have
- 7:25Speaker 2: masks on, but like your main cast doesn't.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I mean, this movie has many, many inconsistencies. I would
- 7:31Speaker 1: not inconsistencies failings, and I would say that is the
- 7:34Speaker 1: least of our concerns. I just think they assume you're
- 7:36Speaker 1: just gonna look right past it, like the fact that
- 7:38Speaker 1: this movie makes no sense.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, Okay, we'll get there. This was filmed in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Talk to me why Canada has places called Ottawa Comma, Ontario, Canada.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I'm not really great at geography.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Because Canada is a country, much like the United States
- 7:56Speaker 1: is a country, and Ottawa is a city and Ontario
- 7:58Speaker 1: is a province. So it would be like saying Atlanta, Georgia,
- 8:01Speaker 1: United States.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Ah. Interesting. Thank you for clearing that up for me.
- 8:06Speaker 2: I did not know that I have.
- 8:07Speaker 1: There was a big argument somewhere on the Internet where
- 8:10Speaker 1: I saw someone saying, like saying something was filmed in
- 8:13Speaker 1: Canada's like saying it was filmed in the United States.
- 8:15Speaker 1: But US American assholes just don't really know anything about
- 8:19Speaker 1: the world outside of our contiguous got it.
- 8:22Speaker 2: I mean you and I both went to college, so
- 8:23Speaker 2: I'm happy that you didn't know what that meant either
- 8:27Speaker 2: until recently. Yes, okay, So this was also filmed at
- 8:30Speaker 2: the Fairmont Chateau. And I don't know how to say
- 8:34Speaker 2: this last, Laurier, I'm guessing you often referred to as
- 8:38Speaker 2: Ottawa's Castle, which is just a hotel, right, Fairmont Hotel.
- 8:41Speaker 2: That's a hotel, right.
- 8:42Speaker 3: It's pretty from the outside.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Beautiful, beautiful. I have a few more news and notes, Okay.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Natalie Hall, who played our lead actress, Cindy, also appeared
- 8:55Speaker 2: in a couple of my favorite shows, Unreal, Pretty Little Liars,
- 9:00Speaker 2: Dropped a Diva, and she played Kobe Chandler on All
- 9:03Speaker 2: My Children from two thousand and nine to twenty eleven.
- 9:07Speaker 2: I've never seen this chick until today.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Same, and I've seen many of those things that you
- 9:11Speaker 1: named Unreal Love unrel dropped a Diva every single episode.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Yep. Interesting. Let's talk first impressions, and then I'm gonna
- 9:19Speaker 2: spring something new on you today. I'm ready for it.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Are you ready for my first impression? Go for it.
- 9:24Speaker 1: The first five ten minutes of this movie were so promising.
- 9:29Speaker 1: It was so cute. I really was enjoying this whole seamstress,
- 9:33Speaker 1: We're gonna make cute dresses. I loved Cindy's character in
- 9:37Speaker 1: those first five minutes, and then it turned so stinky.
- 9:42Speaker 2: I hated this movie so much. Okay, oh, okay, Well,
- 9:47Speaker 2: my first impression is that it was first of all, guys,
- 9:52Speaker 2: it took me three days to watch this movie. Three days.
- 9:56Speaker 2: It Also, it was super boring and I hated it
- 10:00Speaker 2: everything about it.
- 10:03Speaker 1: So you reacted to my reaction as if it was
- 10:07Speaker 1: somehow revelatory, and you hated it too.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I got to keep the people listening. This is new
- 10:12Speaker 2: for us. These are some of the IMDb dot com
- 10:16Speaker 2: reviews of this movie. Ooh, hit me. Quote? Did a
- 10:20Speaker 2: sixth grader rate this? Quote? Not fit for viewing? Quote?
- 10:27Speaker 2: This one is only good for background noise. It's that
- 10:31Speaker 2: quote gag me. And the last one quote so bad.
- 10:36Speaker 2: It's almost good. No, not really, it's just bad. I
- 10:42Speaker 2: love IMDb. You know, I didn't even know until you
- 10:47Speaker 2: brought it up a couple weeks ago that there even
- 10:49Speaker 2: were IMDb reviews.
- 10:52Speaker 3: But oh yeah, I love it. I love it too.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Did you like anything about this movie? There were a
- 10:59Speaker 2: co co full of little little things I liked about it.
- 11:04Speaker 2: It had a couple of cute, I'm not even say
- 11:07Speaker 2: cute funny quotes that I will be sharing on our
- 11:12Speaker 2: Girls Gone Hamewark Instagram if you're not following Girls Gone
- 11:16Speaker 2: at Girls Gone Hamework, so I will share those there.
- 11:20Speaker 2: What I liked about this movie is I liked her
- 11:23Speaker 2: friend Reggie because he was this level headed confidant. Like
- 11:28Speaker 2: we've talked about it in several movies of past that, uh,
- 11:32Speaker 2: the lead does not have like a best friend or
- 11:34Speaker 2: somebody that they can talk to or shoot the shit
- 11:37Speaker 2: with or whatever. Reggie was this person for her, so
- 11:40Speaker 2: I liked him. I loved Cindy's dresses, the ones she
- 11:44Speaker 2: wore or the ones she made.
- 11:45Speaker 1: The ones she wore, the ones she made were hideous.
- 11:48Speaker 1: The ones she wore I thought were adorable. I thought
- 11:51Speaker 1: she had great wardrobe in all but one scene of
- 11:54Speaker 1: this movie.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Okay, I have a couple things in our did just
- 11:58Speaker 2: see that section of the p podcast about what she's wearing,
- 12:01Speaker 2: So we'll talk about my thoughts on her clothes later. Yes,
- 12:06Speaker 2: I enjoyed the party scene where they played that minute
- 12:09Speaker 2: to Win It game. I thought the choreography of them
- 12:14Speaker 2: playing with Hochy. But I liked that whole scene from
- 12:18Speaker 2: start to finish where they play the game and then
- 12:21Speaker 2: Cindy like runs into one of the chicks and spills
- 12:24Speaker 2: wine all over her. But the best part about it
- 12:27Speaker 2: was this conversation between Ronan and Cindy when they're sitting
- 12:30Speaker 2: outside at the table and they have like a fully
- 12:32Speaker 2: adult conversation about Ronan being available.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I hated that party, but I did a fully evil
- 12:40Speaker 1: laugh when she crashes into the evil sister with her wine.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I really enjoyed that moment because I hated her well.
- 12:48Speaker 2: That those girls were not nice. I did write a
- 12:53Speaker 2: note about that. Julia played one of those girls, one
- 12:57Speaker 2: of the quote unquote stepsisters. If you didn't know, there
- 13:01Speaker 2: are some Cinderella parallels here, which Megan didn't get missed. Yeah,
- 13:07Speaker 2: I missed it. So here's what's really funny. And I
- 13:10Speaker 2: was gonna save that. I was gonna drop it into
- 13:12Speaker 2: my first impression. Wendy's texting me and she's like, is
- 13:16Speaker 2: this is Cinderella movie? And I was like, I don't know,
- 13:20Speaker 2: and then she goes her name is Cindy Cordella, And
- 13:26Speaker 2: there's so many parallels. But the funny thing is, in
- 13:29Speaker 2: one of my notes, I had totally called one of
- 13:33Speaker 2: these women who I'm actually I don't even know their names.
- 13:35Speaker 2: I didn't write them down. I hated them so much.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Julia had the dark hair and Brooke had that blonde O.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Okay, so I called Brooke Drosella at one point in
- 13:45Speaker 1: my notes because and then as soon as you look
- 13:48Speaker 1: at it through the lens of this is a Cinderella story,
- 13:51Speaker 1: it makes not more a little bit more sense.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Oh, I don't like it anymore. No, it's like sprinkled
- 13:59Speaker 2: with Cinderella, not a retelling of Cinderella.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Yes, the metaphor falls apart very quickly when you try
- 14:04Speaker 1: and make a name for name comparison, but.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Totally because if you think about it, what was the
- 14:11Speaker 2: movie that had Candice Cameron in it? And it was
- 14:17Speaker 2: a Wizard of Oz type? Oh? Yes, was that a
- 14:20Speaker 2: Christmas movie? Yes, we'll leave a link to our review
- 14:24Speaker 2: in the show notes. But that hit us over the
- 14:26Speaker 2: head with the Wizard of Oz theme. But it also
- 14:30Speaker 2: has some nice subtle overtones of Wizard of Oz that,
- 14:34Speaker 2: like you wouldn't normally get unless you really knew about
- 14:37Speaker 2: the Wizard of oz if I only had Christmas. Sorry, yeah,
- 14:40Speaker 2: that was it. That was I think I enjoyed that movie.
- 14:43Speaker 2: I don't say I like that movie anyway. Back to Julia,
- 14:48Speaker 2: I thought she played a perfect villain towards Cindy, and
- 14:52Speaker 2: there were some touching moments between Julia and Ronan about
- 14:56Speaker 2: their relationship. Do you even recall this the scene, Megan,
- 15:01Speaker 2: I know this was fully background noise for you. H
- 15:05Speaker 2: She came to him and was like, yeah, I didn't
- 15:08Speaker 2: I like the idea of us, but I didn't really
- 15:11Speaker 2: like you that much, basically in nicer words. And then
- 15:15Speaker 2: she comes around to Cindy and basically shows that she's
- 15:19Speaker 2: a good human so she redeems herself.
- 15:21Speaker 1: But her come around to Cindy is so fast. In
- 15:24Speaker 1: one scene, she's like, he can't be with someone like you.
- 15:27Speaker 1: You're not good enough for him.
- 15:29Speaker 2: And then the next moment name she is like you
- 15:32Speaker 2: deserve to be with him. I mean there's not even
- 15:35Speaker 2: a moment where she you see her have this change.
- 15:39Speaker 2: She just changes. She just flips her Yeah. Yeah, there's
- 15:42Speaker 2: no self realization that way, No like get to yeah,
- 15:46Speaker 2: I know what you mean. I just I think I
- 15:49Speaker 2: liked the gal that played Julia. I thought it was
- 15:52Speaker 2: she was a good actress. When Cindy shows up to
- 15:55Speaker 2: the party and the T shirt and jeans, I really
- 15:58Speaker 2: like that. Prince Ronan comes back out a terrible rock
- 16:02Speaker 2: and roll T shirt, like this really belongs in digit
- 16:05Speaker 2: see that, because there's no way a the prince owns
- 16:08Speaker 2: a shirt that says rock quote end roll. Yeah, like,
- 16:14Speaker 2: maybe he owns a solid T shirt.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Maybe he owns like a shirt with his.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Boarding school on it. Right, there's no way they couldn't
- 16:23Speaker 2: have come up with a better T shirt for him
- 16:26Speaker 2: to come out with that he would have had to
- 16:28Speaker 2: pack and bring with him to this family. I get it,
- 16:33Speaker 2: I get it. I appreciate that he went out of
- 16:37Speaker 2: his way to make her feel comfortable. But her shirt
- 16:41Speaker 2: said yolo. I can't did I don't what did it say?
- 16:46Speaker 2: On it is a yolo? But it said what did
- 16:48Speaker 2: it say? What's yellow stand for? You only live one?
- 16:52Speaker 2: Me live one? I didn't even realize that said yellow.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I do. Remember he comes out and he goes, well,
- 17:02Speaker 2: you look good. Ooh that's a bad T shirt, Yola.
- 17:10Speaker 2: I'm totally putting that on our Instagram. That's hilarious. I
- 17:15Speaker 2: hear you.
- 17:16Speaker 1: I'm just saying, while we're talking about the shirt, there
- 17:19Speaker 1: is no way that they tell her this party is
- 17:21Speaker 1: casual and this woman who wears very cute dresses to
- 17:24Speaker 1: go to work, goes home and changes into a T
- 17:26Speaker 1: shirt and yoga pants to go to a party which
- 17:29Speaker 1: is basically held at a home that is basically a castle.
- 17:32Speaker 2: No, there's no believability in.
- 17:34Speaker 1: This part of it. She would wear her work clothes,
- 17:36Speaker 1: or she would wear like a casual going out outfit.
- 17:38Speaker 1: She might not show up in a ball gown. She's
- 17:40Speaker 1: not showing up. Even her yoga clothes were nicer than this.
- 17:44Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Are you sure there were yoga pants? I thought there
- 17:47Speaker 2: were jeans because she had high heels on.
- 17:49Speaker 1: She did have high heels on. Maybe honestly, it was
- 17:53Speaker 1: a dark pant. It could have been jeans. It could
- 17:55Speaker 1: have been a black pant. But with the T shirt,
- 17:58Speaker 1: it looks like she's hanging out watching Netflix with friends.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Right right, I hear you. Okay, now are you ready
- 18:06Speaker 2: for roadblocks? I'm ready for some let's do oh. Ronan's
- 18:11Speaker 2: the Prinson is expected to marry a certain kind of woman.
- 18:15Speaker 2: I Ronan's dad retire Ronan's dad plans to retire. Ronan's
- 18:20Speaker 2: not ready to be king.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Yeah, we're going to believe that all of a sudden,
- 18:25Speaker 1: Ronan's dad is springing this news on him and telling
- 18:28Speaker 1: people who aren't Ronan.
- 18:29Speaker 3: First.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Oh, Cindy isn't allowed to fraternize with the clients.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that was funny. Rebecca really string and Cindy along.
- 18:41Speaker 2: I hated Rebecca me too, But there was this really
- 18:44Speaker 2: funny scene where she comes to the ball or gala
- 18:49Speaker 2: or whatever it was. No, yeah, that's what it was,
- 18:52Speaker 2: and she throws her jacket at this out loud. I
- 18:58Speaker 2: just was a funny choice by that actress. I thought
- 19:00Speaker 2: it was funny. I agree, I hate I hated her. Otherwise,
- 19:03Speaker 2: go ahead, that's it. Oh uh oh did someone just
- 19:07Speaker 2: put the dress rack by a chocolate fountain? I wrote,
- 19:09Speaker 2: oh shit, there goes the dresses like that was so bad,
- 19:18Speaker 2: so so bad. And lastly, after that night where they're
- 19:24Speaker 2: making the dresses and they wake up late for their
- 19:28Speaker 2: appointment to deliver the dresses, Cindy's going on and on
- 19:33Speaker 2: and I wrote, late for the dressing, shut up and hurry,
- 19:37Speaker 2: like you don't like stop and thank Prince Ronan for
- 19:40Speaker 2: all his help and then ba ba ba Yeah, get
- 19:44Speaker 2: in the car and get over there, or you're gonna
- 19:47Speaker 2: lose your job.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Did you notice that there were just slices of pizzas
- 19:50Speaker 1: strewn in the pile of fabric? Hello, you just ruined
- 19:53Speaker 1: dresses with food? Why are you eating pizza in your clothes?
- 19:56Speaker 2: Yeah? That I what? Yeah? That was weird, Like why
- 19:59Speaker 2: would they do why would they even show that? There
- 20:04Speaker 2: was just like many working through the nights. We got
- 20:06Speaker 2: to eat while we're working. The props department struggled in
- 20:10Speaker 2: this movie, and I have some additional thoughts on that. Okay,
- 20:14Speaker 2: so are we where are we at now? What we
- 20:17Speaker 2: wished for? Okay? I wish they would have eliminated some characters.
- 20:24Speaker 2: There were too many characters in this movie. We have
- 20:28Speaker 2: these seamstresses that are in the shop that have so
- 20:33Speaker 2: many like tight lipped smiling scenes. They don't have any lines.
- 20:37Speaker 2: They're just sitting there smiling along. Uh huh.
- 20:40Speaker 1: And the problem is they're part of the story. She
- 20:43Speaker 1: keeps trying to get them time off and get them
- 20:44Speaker 1: a raise and get them all these things. I understand,
- 20:47Speaker 1: you got to have people working in the shop. Fine,
- 20:49Speaker 1: don't address them. There's too many things going on. We
- 20:53Speaker 1: already have Cindy, we already have Julia, we have Rebecca,
- 20:59Speaker 1: we have Reggie, we have Gloria, I mean, we have
- 21:03Speaker 1: Virginia Hamilton. There are too many people in this movie
- 21:07Speaker 1: for me to.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Care about well her. Her people in the dress shop
- 21:12Speaker 2: are her little mice, right like in Cinderella. They should
- 21:16Speaker 2: just be working quietly. But this is I wrote this
- 21:21Speaker 2: down and this is just a side note that I labeled.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Don't all designers, big names at least have a team
- 21:31Speaker 2: of people. Rebecca isn't sewing the dresses herself. She considers
- 21:35Speaker 2: herself a world renowned brand. She would have far more
- 21:39Speaker 2: than Cindy working for her. So it makes sense that
- 21:43Speaker 2: these other like sewing people are there. But wouldn't there
- 21:47Speaker 2: be like more of them, not just two of them
- 21:50Speaker 2: and Reggie and Cindy.
- 21:52Speaker 1: And don't try to make them part of the plot.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Just let them fade into the background, don't talk to them.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, that was so weird. What else did
- 22:01Speaker 2: you wish for a better music work montage? When they
- 22:05Speaker 2: are like fixing and creating the new dresses, Give me
- 22:08Speaker 2: something better here? This is the perfect opportunity for it.
- 22:11Speaker 2: This was your pretty and pink moment when they're sewing
- 22:15Speaker 2: the new dresses.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Well, I said, she is not remaking all of those
- 22:19Speaker 1: dresses overnight. This is not Project Runway. Keete Montage though.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Oh you're funny, Okay, I also have I wished for
- 22:28Speaker 2: better dresses. Those look like some straight up off the
- 22:33Speaker 2: rack dresses to me basic. The only person who had
- 22:37Speaker 2: a nice dress in The Old Lady, The Old Lady,
- 22:40Speaker 2: Oh Virginia. I actually she's one of my favorite characters
- 22:46Speaker 2: was Cindy she comes to the ball. I loved her dress. Look,
- 22:50Speaker 2: I had already tapped out by then. I don't even
- 22:52Speaker 2: remember it. It was a great dress. I would wear
- 22:55Speaker 2: that dress. Did she make that dress? Was there no
- 22:58Speaker 2: discussion of it?
- 22:59Speaker 1: But that I noticed there could have been, who knows,
- 23:03Speaker 1: I phoned it in.
- 23:04Speaker 2: But those dresses.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Have you ever been to a tailor and in the
- 23:10Speaker 1: front of the shop they have like dresses on a
- 23:13Speaker 1: mannequin that I guess are supposed to demonstrate their abilities
- 23:17Speaker 1: as a tailor, and they're always like super outdated. Yeah,
- 23:21Speaker 1: when she's walking through the shop there's dresses on mannequins.
- 23:25Speaker 1: I was like, I feel like I'm in a tailor
- 23:27Speaker 1: slash dry cleaner. I can smell the dry cleaning solution.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I hated their dresses. I mean, come on, this was
- 23:34Speaker 1: like TJ max Ball gowns that they snagged for.
- 23:38Speaker 2: The full movie. They were hideous.
- 23:41Speaker 1: It's really hard to do these movies where you need
- 23:43Speaker 1: a high end prop like a dress, when you don't
- 23:48Speaker 1: have a high end budget.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Right right, I wonder I would love to know the
- 23:52Speaker 2: actual dollar amount budget they have for these kind of things,
- 23:56Speaker 2: because those dresses were so awful, unfortunate, awful. I have
- 24:01Speaker 2: one last thing for what I wished for mm hmm.
- 24:04Speaker 2: In the end, after her and Prince Ronan are dancing
- 24:09Speaker 2: there slow dance, she busts out with like some fast
- 24:14Speaker 2: dance moves that are the worst, most cringy dance scene
- 24:18Speaker 2: I've ever seen in my entire life. It was so bad.
- 24:21Speaker 2: It was worse than and I'm gonna throw it back
- 24:24Speaker 2: to that Candice Cameron movie where she had a dance
- 24:26Speaker 2: in those huge ass heels when it was a terrible
- 24:30Speaker 2: right is that the movie? Yeah, it was dance scene, right, Yes,
- 24:34Speaker 2: it was a very stiff dance because she hasn't dance
- 24:37Speaker 2: in those heels. Well, this was like a fast dancing
- 24:40Speaker 2: and she was I swear she was doing things like
- 24:43Speaker 2: the sprinkled wrinkler and the like. It was so bad.
- 24:50Speaker 2: It was like, I don't know if it was like
- 24:52Speaker 2: supposed to be at a wedding and like we're and
- 24:54Speaker 2: I've seen some great viral videos where the bride and
- 24:57Speaker 2: groom are dancing and they bust out in some sort
- 24:59Speaker 2: of like hip hop dancer or something. I don't know
- 25:03Speaker 2: what was happening with this, but it was so terrible.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Deep secondhand embarrassment. Yeah, for sure, the last thing I
- 25:11Speaker 1: wish for. And we kind of touched on this, but
- 25:12Speaker 1: if you're going to make a movie that has ties
- 25:15Speaker 1: to Cinderella, follow the metaphor through because I okay, Cindy
- 25:21Speaker 1: and Julia are the wicked stepsisters. We've got Virginia Hamilton,
- 25:26Speaker 1: who's maybe the fairy godmother. She's the only one who's
- 25:29Speaker 1: kind to Cindy.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Yeah, but she doesn't have any like uh power hand
- 25:35Speaker 2: in the moving the story along or fixing it or whatever. Right,
- 25:39Speaker 2: But then so then that's the thing.
- 25:41Speaker 1: So the then the natural connection is maybe Rebecca as
- 25:45Speaker 1: the fairy godmother. But Rebecca is a hateful character. I
- 25:48Speaker 1: think we're supposed to like her at the end. I'd
- 25:50Speaker 1: like to talk more about that in our next section meeting.
- 25:52Speaker 2: But she's not.
- 25:54Speaker 1: The metaphor falls apart. You can't just name a character
- 25:57Speaker 1: Cindy and have some mean girl and like try and
- 26:01Speaker 1: make the Cinderella tie in if you're not gonna follow
- 26:04Speaker 1: it through.
- 26:06Speaker 2: That's all I have. Are you ready for? Did you
- 26:07Speaker 2: see that? I am ready? Okay. My first was the
- 26:13Speaker 2: Yolo Slash rock and roll shirts. I know we've discussed it.
- 26:16Speaker 3: I just cannot.
- 26:19Speaker 2: It's so funny. Well, I know we talked about pizza too.
- 26:22Speaker 2: I wrote pizza on the work table. Didn't we learn
- 26:24Speaker 2: anything with the chocolate fountain? Though? I don't think the
- 26:27Speaker 2: chocolate fountain was actually her fault, because I think that
- 26:30Speaker 2: somebody had rolled a rack of clothes that was in
- 26:34Speaker 2: front of the chocolate fountain and then moved it out
- 26:37Speaker 2: of there, and then the wheel broke off of her
- 26:41Speaker 2: rack and therefore then fell into the whatever. Whatever it
- 26:45Speaker 2: was a mess? Go ahead, what else did you see?
- 26:47Speaker 1: The valet says it's going to be a while to
- 26:49Speaker 1: go get her car. By the way, there was nobody
- 26:51Speaker 1: at this party. Why is it going to be a while? Also,
- 26:54Speaker 1: the hallmark of a good valet is they take your
- 26:56Speaker 1: ticket and they run for your car.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Ye, you know, wait thirty minutes for it? Give me
- 27:02Speaker 2: how long? How far away could it have been parked?
- 27:04Speaker 1: And you're telling me they wouldn't have just parked all
- 27:05Speaker 1: these cars in that giant circular driveway?
- 27:07Speaker 2: No?
- 27:07Speaker 3: No, yeah, yeah.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Cindy's apron. Did you notice that she put an apron
- 27:12Speaker 2: on all the time? Now, me, I love a good apron.
- 27:15Speaker 2: I love wearing an apron. I know that's super weird,
- 27:18Speaker 2: but okay, we get it. She's like Cinderella. Cinderella or
- 27:23Speaker 2: an apron.
- 27:24Speaker 3: It just was dumb to me.
- 27:26Speaker 2: I could I you know, she needs all of her
- 27:29Speaker 2: little bits and bobs right at her Oh bits and bobs. Yeah,
- 27:33Speaker 2: I get it. But I watch Project Runway and sometimes
- 27:39Speaker 2: they wear like utility type aprons are like something around
- 27:44Speaker 2: their waist has their stuff in it. I just she
- 27:47Speaker 2: was just like, oh so pretty with my pretty flow
- 27:50Speaker 2: flowy apron. Yes, it was very frilly. Yeah. The scene
- 27:55Speaker 2: where Cindy is revealed to be the actual designer behind
- 27:58Speaker 2: Rebecca Roslin Designs is so awkward because the Prince makes
- 28:02Speaker 2: it happen, right, But then Rebecca goes, oh, I'm gonna
- 28:05Speaker 2: promote you. Let's be partners.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Why why would Cindy want to be her partner when
- 28:10Speaker 1: Cindy is running the show. Why does she not just
- 28:13Speaker 1: go out on her own so Rebecca can stop living
- 28:17Speaker 1: off Cindy's designs?
- 28:19Speaker 2: Okay, I wrote this, Why would Cindy take a partnership
- 28:23Speaker 2: with Rebecca? Rebecca ran all over Cindy dumb? Do you? Cindy?
- 28:28Speaker 2: Do you? Is she an idiot? Like she's nothing changes,
- 28:34Speaker 2: She's gonna continue to be making dresses under the name
- 28:39Speaker 2: Rebecca whatever. Yeah, that's dumb, no, dumb, dumb, dumb.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Her own line.
- 28:45Speaker 1: It would have been better for Rebecca to say, hey,
- 28:47Speaker 1: I'm going to help you make the connections to get
- 28:51Speaker 1: your own design line.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Well, and does she even have to now because now
- 28:54Speaker 2: she's with Prince Ronan, and Prince Ronan apparently probably comes
- 28:58Speaker 2: from money. So yeah, if you know anything, it's that
- 29:02Speaker 2: it's very hard for the wife of a royal to
- 29:04Speaker 2: continue to have their own life. Exactly do you think
- 29:09Speaker 2: that the timing of this movie had anything to do
- 29:12Speaker 2: with the timing of the interview? Uh? So, that's funny
- 29:15Speaker 2: that you mentioned that, because I know that the boys
- 29:17Speaker 2: at Deck the Hallmark talked about it too, And no,
- 29:20Speaker 2: I think that was just coincidence. Interesting you think it
- 29:25Speaker 2: has something to do with it. I think it's not impossible.
- 29:28Speaker 2: I can't remember when they started promoting this movie, not.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Very long ago, but I don't know. I think it
- 29:34Speaker 1: could just be a coincidence. But it is odd that
- 29:38Speaker 1: it doesn't fit into one of their categories, that they
- 29:39Speaker 1: just dropped it in here.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe they were planning on taking two weeks off
- 29:43Speaker 2: before sprinkling and then they're like, we have this, yeah,
- 29:46Speaker 2: or maybe it was hard of sprinkling. Oh possibly, oh possibly,
- 29:51Speaker 2: I don't know. I have one last did you see
- 29:53Speaker 2: that I wrote? Cindy is in crisis, made to fix?
- 29:57Speaker 2: What did I write here? I can't even read my
- 29:59Speaker 2: own anyway. She's all done up, hair, makeup, She's wearing
- 30:03Speaker 2: a darling dress. Why would she be all done up?
- 30:06Speaker 2: Like to work twenty four hours to make these dresses?
- 30:10Speaker 2: You know? Do you know what scene I'm talking about?
- 30:11Speaker 2: Like it's Prince Ronan comes to the studio or wherever
- 30:16Speaker 2: they're working in the shop or whatever, and she's like
- 30:18Speaker 2: just fully made up. I don't know why I'm so
- 30:21Speaker 2: bothered by this. Maybe it's because I don't get made
- 30:24Speaker 2: up anymore. Well, I think so. I think she goes
- 30:27Speaker 2: straight from the house to the studio.
- 30:30Speaker 1: But also I think this is one of those to
- 30:32Speaker 1: steal a line from Julie Sherman Wolf, I think this
- 30:34Speaker 1: is one of those because Hallmark moments, like because, yeah,
- 30:38Speaker 1: the heroine is going to look cute and she's not
- 30:40Speaker 1: going to go get into her dirty sweatpants.
- 30:43Speaker 3: Got it all right?
- 30:44Speaker 2: Do you have any other outse And then did you
- 30:46Speaker 2: see that? Well, Julia says to Ronan, I think you
- 30:50Speaker 2: just might be in love with her. Why do they
- 30:52Speaker 2: always have to be in love? It's been three days?
- 30:54Speaker 1: Why could he not jo just like her? I think
- 30:56Speaker 1: you might have feelings for her would be a perfectly
- 30:59Speaker 1: acceptable one.
- 31:00Speaker 2: He doesn't need to be in love with her. I know.
- 31:03Speaker 2: That's my whole problem with these movies is that, like,
- 31:06Speaker 2: you jump forward in time faster than you would in
- 31:11Speaker 2: like a regular real life relationship. And I know you're
- 31:17Speaker 2: supposed to suspend belief in these movies, but that's what
- 31:21Speaker 2: drives me crazy. Just be normal humans. Speaking of normal humans,
- 31:26Speaker 2: in the final dance scene, Cindy says, and I dare
- 31:29Speaker 2: you to be spontaneous and he kisses her. Is it spontaneous?
- 31:34Speaker 2: If someone says I dare you to be spontaneous, they
- 31:38Speaker 2: kill you to be spontaneous? Are you actually spontaneous? And
- 31:43Speaker 2: then he dares her and she does have terrible dance
- 31:45Speaker 2: and I died a little bit on the inside. Yeah,
- 31:49Speaker 2: can you rate this movie? I am having a hard
- 31:53Speaker 2: time rating this movie because I'm trying. Do I compare
- 31:57Speaker 2: it to the Love Ever After movies? Do I compare
- 32:00Speaker 2: to all the movies I've watched? I give this movie
- 32:04Speaker 2: one star. Same. Okay, it wasn't good. It might be
- 32:08Speaker 2: my least favorite ever of the bunch. Eh. Yeah, I
- 32:14Speaker 2: didn't like it. I didn't either. And it wasn't even
- 32:17Speaker 2: that I didn't like it because it was boring.
- 32:20Speaker 3: I just didn't like it.
- 32:21Speaker 1: There was a scene where the women, the fancy women,
- 32:27Speaker 1: are all laughing and Brooks's character like puts her hand
- 32:31Speaker 1: to her chest. It's such an affected move and she's
- 32:33Speaker 1: like and she puts her hand up and it made
- 32:36Speaker 1: me so angry that I like the way she acted
- 32:41Speaker 1: that scene. And I do think she's doing a straight
- 32:44Speaker 1: take of the Wicked Stepsister. I think like you could
- 32:46Speaker 1: do a side by side cartoon in real life.
- 32:49Speaker 2: In that moment, I hated it. I didn't like this movie.
- 32:54Speaker 1: And it was really interesting to listen to the Deck
- 32:55Speaker 1: the Hallmark guy's talk this morning, because they compared it
- 32:58Speaker 1: to like, is it worse in Beverly Hill's wedding?
- 32:59Speaker 3: And they said no, and I.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Thought, uh, yeah, go ahead what I have never listened
- 33:05Speaker 2: to them. I have heard a lot of people say
- 33:08Speaker 2: that they didn't like a Beverly Hill's wedding, and I
- 33:11Speaker 2: was surprised by that. So that's funny you mentioned that
- 33:14Speaker 2: because I was looking at Instagram this morning and I
- 33:17Speaker 2: did write on their Instagram photo. I was like, this
- 33:20Speaker 2: movie is not worse on Beverly Hill's wedding, but you're right,
- 33:24Speaker 2: it was terrible. So yeah, I don't let that be
- 33:28Speaker 2: the bar like I liked Beverly Hills wedding me too,
- 33:33Speaker 2: to let it be like Winter Getaway, which was terrible,
- 33:36Speaker 2: our snow Kiss which was terrible.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Kiss was terrible.
- 33:39Speaker 2: They also hated snow Kiss. To be fair, I did
- 33:42Speaker 2: see that. Our friend Calli from Hallmarks the Spot also
- 33:46Speaker 2: wrote that this was a dumpster fire of a movie.
- 33:49Speaker 2: I was waiting to read.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Her review until after we had podcasted, because I am
- 33:55Speaker 1: so afraid of someone else's opinion coloring my thoughts. Next week,
- 33:59Speaker 1: there is no episode, but as we said, you can
- 34:02Speaker 1: join our Patreon because we're going to be producing additional
- 34:04Speaker 1: bonus content. You can also listen on Tuesday next week
- 34:06Speaker 1: because we will be dropping a brand new original episode
- 34:10Speaker 1: and those episodes are a little bit longer, so you
- 34:12Speaker 1: can really dig in. But of course we'll be back
- 34:15Speaker 1: on March twenty fifth with our review of Chasing Waterfalls
- 34:20Speaker 1: featuring Cindy Busby. And if you have been around, you
- 34:23Speaker 1: know that we're kind of on the Date my Dad
- 34:25Speaker 1: reunion tour and it has been really fun to see
- 34:28Speaker 1: all of our favorites from Date my Dad pop up
- 34:31Speaker 1: on Hallmark. So I'm excited for that.
- 34:33Speaker 2: I wonder if anybody knows what Date my Dad is
- 34:36Speaker 2: besides us.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I know we've talked about it here, but as a throwback,
- 34:40Speaker 1: a couple of summers ago, Wendy and I hosted a
- 34:42Speaker 1: pre show for a television show on up TV called
- 34:46Speaker 1: Date my Dad, starring Barry Watson and Cindy Busby and
- 34:49Speaker 1: many other Hallmark actors, and we kind of fell in
- 34:54Speaker 1: love with those characters and I feel an attachment to.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Them when I see them in a other shows. Yeah,
- 35:01Speaker 2: I am looking forward to watching Cindy Busby in this movie.
- 35:04Speaker 2: I saw the commercial during fit for Prints and they're
- 35:07Speaker 2: like playing that TLC waterfall. I love it was it
- 35:12Speaker 2: because I thought it sounded like the real thing. Oh,
- 35:14Speaker 2: you might be right. I don't know, but I was like, hey,
- 35:17Speaker 2: that looks great, so let's hope it is. I need
- 35:20Speaker 2: a great one. I need a four star. We need
- 35:23Speaker 2: to bring Wendy back into the fold. Because this is
- 35:25Speaker 2: no longer appointment television. This is no this is real,
- 35:29Speaker 2: hard guys. I am looking forward to the next Julie
- 35:33Speaker 2: Sherman Wolf movie that's gonna be debut during Spring playing.
- 35:37Speaker 1: But there's an Ireland set movie, Joanna Swisher, who I love.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Do you think they actually filmed that in Ireland? It
- 35:47Speaker 2: looks like it, man, it looks like it. It looks
- 35:50Speaker 2: like it, I hope.
- 35:51Speaker 1: So all right, before you go, if you enjoy these podcasts,
- 35:55Speaker 1: we would really love it if you would take just
- 35:57Speaker 1: a minute and leave us a rating and a review
- 35:59Speaker 1: in the Apple podcast system. We know that if you
- 36:01Speaker 1: listen in another system, there's not a way to leave
- 36:04Speaker 1: a review.
- 36:04Speaker 2: We wish there were, but if you are an Apple
- 36:07Speaker 2: podcast user take the thirty seconds.
- 36:09Speaker 1: We would really appreciate it. It helps us a lot
- 36:12Speaker 1: to grow this podcast. And until next time, have a
- 36:15Speaker 1: great week.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Bye bye
