- 0:28Speaker 2: episodes of our podcast every Tuesday, and Girls Gone Hallmark
- 0:34Speaker 2: was born out of a project we did in November
- 0:38Speaker 2: and December twenty twenty where Wendy, who had never seen
- 0:43Speaker 2: a single Hallmark movie, decided she wanted to not only
- 0:46Speaker 2: watch them but review them, and we had so much
- 0:49Speaker 2: fun that we are continuing that. So now we are
- 0:52Speaker 2: in January, and the January movie grouping is New Year,
- 0:57Speaker 2: New Movies, which is the you bid his name for
- 1:00Speaker 2: a collection of movies I've heard. I'll be honest, we're
- 1:04Speaker 2: gonna have to talk about that. Last year was Winterfest,
- 1:08Speaker 2: much better name. But we have five movies that we'll
- 1:12Speaker 2: be discussing this month, and our first up is Taking
- 1:15Speaker 2: a Shot at Love. I'm so excited to be back
- 1:19Speaker 2: with this series in January and to be continuing it
- 1:21Speaker 2: throughout the year.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Me too, I'm very excited. Oh good, Who am I?
- 1:27Speaker 1: I truly don't know.
- 1:30Speaker 2: If you want to find us outside the podcast, like

- 2:03Speaker 1: hear your thoughts on these movies anytime.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Are you a Megan watching these movies year round?
- 2:11Speaker 1: Big fan? Are you a Wendy? Are you brand new?
- 2:14Speaker 1: Let us know totally? All right? Ms Wendy, do you
- 2:17Speaker 1: have a synopsis for us? I sure do. This comes
- 2:20Speaker 1: from theofficial Hallmark Channel dot com website. Taking a shot
- 2:26Speaker 1: at Love Jenna, a former professional dancer, uses ballet to
- 2:31Speaker 1: help a hockey player get back on the ice. Stars
- 2:33Speaker 1: Alexa Penna Vega and Luke McFarlane. Did I say his
- 2:37Speaker 1: last name, right, McFarlane, Yes, you got it.
- 2:41Speaker 2: You gotta trust in yourself. You always doubt your pronunciation.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I do. That's like a super hang up of mine.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Now, this movie is set in Hartford, Connecticut, but it
- 2:53Speaker 2: was filmed in Canada.
- 2:56Speaker 1: It's actually set in the town of Avon, Connecticut. Megan, Well,
- 3:02Speaker 1: the article I read said Hartford, you don't remember like this,
- 3:08Speaker 1: she it's the Avon Winterfest Ballet Show or whatever it's called. Yeah,
- 3:15Speaker 1: it's it's it's in the town of Avon, because what
- 3:18Speaker 1: I read, writer Julie Wolf actually lives in the town Avon,
- 3:23Speaker 1: Connecticut and wanted to get the town's small name to
- 3:28Speaker 1: be heard in the public or whatever.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I heard that too, and I apologize. It's the county
- 3:34Speaker 2: is Hartford, Avon is the town.
- 3:37Speaker 1: So we're both correct there.
- 3:39Speaker 2: You know, I believed that this movie was filmed in
- 3:43Speaker 2: the winter.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Well I have a little bit of news on that. Actually,
- 3:47Speaker 1: all right, it was filmed during Thanksgiving, so during the
- 3:52Speaker 1: week before and the week of Thanksgiving, so it's definitely
- 3:56Speaker 1: cold in Canada that week. I believe that it was cold.
- 3:58Speaker 2: The skies were gray, her jackets were more puffy than fashion.
- 4:06Speaker 1: They weren't the beautiful coats that uh Candice Cameron war Yeah,
- 4:11Speaker 1: they were function over form. Two notes here. One, The
- 4:15Speaker 1: fact that this movie was filmed in November and is
- 4:19Speaker 1: now on the screen in January is blowing my mind.
- 4:23Speaker 1: What is the turnaround time typically on these Hallmark movies?
- 4:26Speaker 1: Is it that short?
- 4:28Speaker 2: Well, a lot of the movies we were watching in
- 4:30Speaker 2: December were filmed in August and September, and they're just
- 4:33Speaker 2: churning those out, which is why you'll notice if you
- 4:38Speaker 2: use the Hallmark Movie Checklist app when they first launched
- 4:42Speaker 2: their Countdown to Christmas movie listing. You know, if you
- 4:46Speaker 2: look right now at the New Year New Movies lineup,
- 4:50Speaker 2: only three of the five have actual images of the
- 4:56Speaker 2: actors oh and two have like stocks photos. Oh. One
- 5:01Speaker 2: is like a really blown out image of a candle,
- 5:04Speaker 2: and one is a mug in front of snow like
- 5:06Speaker 2: they have not even added in the official movie photos.
- 5:10Speaker 1: So I do think these are.
- 5:12Speaker 2: What's the word I'm looking for. I think these are
- 5:14Speaker 2: just constantly in production. I think the turnaround time is quick,
- 5:19Speaker 2: and it's so fast that they don't even have time
- 5:21Speaker 2: to get the actual images up on the app.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Wow, that is crazy.
- 5:25Speaker 2: The same was true of Countdown to Christmas. If you
- 5:27Speaker 2: opened the listing of Countdown to Christmas, there were many
- 5:30Speaker 2: stock photos when they first launched, and throughout the season
- 5:35Speaker 2: the images of the actors in the movies. The official
- 5:37Speaker 2: images were at it. So I think they're just flying
- 5:40Speaker 2: by the seat of their pants.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Wow, that's nuts. Okay, now listen to this note. I
- 5:44Speaker 1: also found this morning. So actress Alexa Pennavega was pregnant
- 5:52Speaker 1: while shooting this movie.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Ah, that makes so much sense because they gave her
- 5:56Speaker 2: that big puffy jacket. But what doesn't make sense is
- 6:01Speaker 2: she's always in dance clothes. She must not have been
- 6:04Speaker 2: very pregnant.
- 6:04Speaker 1: No, not very pregnant. Apparently she's due sometime this summer.
- 6:08Speaker 2: So I thought she was Okay, So she was not
- 6:10Speaker 2: showing because she was in like leggings and leotards.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Yes, but she had like a sweater wrap on in
- 6:17Speaker 1: one of them. I mean, I don't think she was
- 6:20Speaker 1: very pregnant, but still I don't think she was, Like
- 6:24Speaker 1: she wasn't running around in like barely there leotards. You know.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Yeah, perhaps they filmed some of those dance scenes earlier
- 6:33Speaker 2: on and then that like opening scene where she's in
- 6:36Speaker 2: like the big flowy sweater is one of the later
- 6:38Speaker 2: filmed scenes.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Interesting. Well, yeah, fun fact about Luke McFarlane.
- 6:44Speaker 2: He is a new United States citizen and voted in
- 6:46Speaker 2: his first election last year. I saw on his Instagram
- 6:49Speaker 2: this morning. Is he a Canadian? Yeah?
- 6:52Speaker 1: I believe so.
- 6:53Speaker 2: He's also a twin Oh and he has a twin sister.
- 6:58Speaker 2: And he is well known for his appearance in many,
- 7:03Speaker 2: many Hallmark movies. He's definitely a Hallmark movie dude.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Well, I know he was also in the show Brothers
- 7:10Speaker 1: and Sisters, though I don't remember who he played in
- 7:13Speaker 1: that show. I looked at his acting credits. He has
- 7:17Speaker 1: like some shows outside of the Hallmark universe, but I
- 7:22Speaker 1: can't nothing that like. I was like, oh, yeah, I
- 7:26Speaker 1: remember him. But he's nice on the eyes and I
- 7:29Speaker 1: think he's a good actor.
- 7:31Speaker 2: I thought both of the actors, the lead actors in
- 7:33Speaker 2: this movie were very pretty, very nice to look at.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Alexa Penevega is I wouldn't say best known for her
- 7:40Speaker 2: Spy Kids appearances.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Oh, I saw that she was in that, But who
- 7:45Speaker 1: did she play in Spy Kids? A child? Oh? I
- 7:50Speaker 1: did not know that. I'm gonna have to go back
- 7:53Speaker 1: and look. That's hilarious. Now. I do know that she
- 7:56Speaker 1: is married to some musician from a band called Big
- 8:01Speaker 1: Time Rush, which I don't know anything.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Oh so, Big Time Rush is a Disney Channel band.
- 8:08Speaker 2: I think, hold on, big Time Rush is a Nickelodeon band.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Excuse me. So they were formed in two thousand and
- 8:18Speaker 2: nine and they starred in the television series Big Time
- 8:21Speaker 2: Rush signed a record deal with Nick Records simultaneously with
- 8:24Speaker 2: the TV series, and then they were eventually signed to
- 8:27Speaker 2: Columbia Records. So they kind of have that very child
- 8:32Speaker 2: star going on.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Okay, hold on, I am looking up images from Oh
- 8:38Speaker 1: my god, she was that kid in Spy right.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I mean it was two thousand and one, the first
- 8:44Speaker 2: Spi Kids, which is twenty years ago, so you know
- 8:47Speaker 2: she was ten or twelve at the time. But yes,
- 8:50Speaker 2: Spy Kids feels like it was like three years ago.
- 8:51Speaker 1: To me. That's blowing my mind. I actually thought she
- 8:55Speaker 1: looks a little bit like Alyssa Milano.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I think that's a fair comparison. And she's
- 9:02Speaker 2: in several Hallmarks style movies, but I do think she
- 9:07Speaker 2: is perhaps best known for Spy Kids. All right, now, overall,
- 9:12Speaker 2: first impression of this movie, did you enjoy it?
- 9:14Speaker 1: Yes, I enjoyed it quite a bit, as did I.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I found it very pleasant to watch, and in fact,
- 9:22Speaker 2: normally I'm writing multiple notes about my problems with the movie,
- 9:26Speaker 2: and I don't have a lot of those. I have
- 9:28Speaker 2: a couple of things to say. But I just found
- 9:30Speaker 2: it really enjoyable to watch, and I think it was also.
- 9:33Speaker 1: A really nice break from Christmas content. I think so too.
- 9:38Speaker 1: So here's my question. When we talked about the Christmas
- 9:42Speaker 1: movies and the first movie that came out in the
- 9:45Speaker 1: Countdown to Christmas series, you said was kind of a
- 9:48Speaker 1: dud that they don't put like the big name, big
- 9:51Speaker 1: movies until closer to the Christmas holiday. Now, does the
- 9:55Speaker 1: same apply for this kind of content, the New Year,
- 9:59Speaker 1: New movie content.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I would say no, because at this point they're just
- 10:04Speaker 2: trying to hold on to their Christmas viewership. They get
- 10:07Speaker 2: a huge surge of viewers for the holidays, and I
- 10:10Speaker 2: think it peters out. So I think at this point
- 10:13Speaker 2: they're trying to do whatever they can. I think a
- 10:15Speaker 2: lot of their non Christmas movies are great, and I
- 10:19Speaker 2: don't think placement. I don't think it matters so much.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Now that we're into January.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I'll tell you it was appointment TV for us again.
- 10:26Speaker 1: My husband and I sat and watched it on the
- 10:29Speaker 1: couch together. I really enjoyed it. I really really enjoyed it.
- 10:35Speaker 1: I would stop and watch it again if I saw
- 10:38Speaker 1: it on the guide, Yeah, I would do. I would
- 10:42Speaker 1: have it on in the background. I enjoyed it that
- 10:44Speaker 1: it was very visually pleasing to watch.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Her house was beautiful, obviously, the people in it were beautiful.
- 10:52Speaker 2: One thing I really liked is that the dancers in
- 10:55Speaker 2: her dance studio were actually dancing, and they were enjoyable
- 10:59Speaker 2: to watch. I liked that they showed, you know, all
- 11:04Speaker 2: the way through the dance. It wasn't like they were
- 11:05Speaker 2: just doing real close ups on a dancer's.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Face to give you the impression that they were dancing.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Why don't I have something to say about the hockey.
- 11:12Speaker 2: But I really enjoyed that. And they showed their final
- 11:17Speaker 2: dance performance. And sometimes that's the kind of thing that
- 11:20Speaker 2: you'll just maybe see them like standing off stage, or
- 11:22Speaker 2: you'll see a couple little bits of it. But I
- 11:24Speaker 2: really thought that they did a good job showing the
- 11:28Speaker 2: dance and making it a part of the show, and
- 11:30Speaker 2: if she's a dance teacher and the central part of
- 11:32Speaker 2: the plot is this big dance performance. I thought it
- 11:35Speaker 2: was great that they had them actually dancing in the movie.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Okay, So with that said, let's talk about what we
- 11:41Speaker 1: liked with a shot taking a shot at love. So
- 11:44Speaker 1: you liked that the dancers were actually dancing. I really
- 11:49Speaker 1: really enjoyed that boy, Felix. He was a dancer. I
- 11:53Speaker 1: thought he was a great dancer. I thought he was
- 11:56Speaker 1: a good actor. And what I liked best is that
- 12:00Speaker 1: he was passionate about dancing but also really wanted to
- 12:04Speaker 1: learn how to play almost says Soccer. He almost he
- 12:07Speaker 1: really wanted to learn how to play hockey, and that
- 12:10Speaker 1: these adults rallied around him to, you know, show him
- 12:13Speaker 1: he could do both. I loved it, loved it, loved it.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I loved when Felix shows.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Up for the first time and he recognizes Coop and
- 12:23Speaker 2: Ryan walks over to and he's like, don't tell anybody
- 12:25Speaker 2: who saw and Felix is like, why, what's wrong with dance?
- 12:27Speaker 2: And I really like that he, you know, owned the
- 12:30Speaker 2: fact that he liked dance.
- 12:32Speaker 1: In addition to liking hockey.
- 12:34Speaker 2: And one thing I was watching the Instagram review of
- 12:41Speaker 2: a fellow Hallmark fan her account his Hallmarks the Spot,
- 12:45Speaker 2: and one thing she said was that there were points
- 12:48Speaker 2: in the movie where I think we were supposed to
- 12:50Speaker 2: believe that Luke McFarlane's character, Ryan Cooper was a bit
- 12:53Speaker 2: of a bad guy, right, Like, there were multiple scenes
- 12:56Speaker 2: and he couldn't commit to it, Like, he was just
- 12:59Speaker 2: such a good guy. There was no point at which
- 13:01Speaker 2: you felt annoyed with him, because even in the moments
- 13:04Speaker 2: where he was kind of supposed to be annoying, he
- 13:07Speaker 2: turned it around so quickly that you just couldn't help
- 13:10Speaker 2: but like him. So I enjoyed that scene.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Right So, like when he gets to Jenna's house and
- 13:16Speaker 1: he mistakenly thinks that's his accommodations. You know, he did
- 13:22Speaker 1: come off as a little put out when he had
- 13:24Speaker 1: to go to like the guest house or whatever, but
- 13:26Speaker 1: he was still likable, and that's what I enjoyed about
- 13:30Speaker 1: his character. I agree talking about Ryan and his like
- 13:35Speaker 1: bad boy persona. He was so nice to the kids,
- 13:39Speaker 1: Like he was nice to the kids that were waiting
- 13:41Speaker 1: for him outside the hockey rink signing autographs. He was
- 13:44Speaker 1: nice to the ballet kids. I just thought he was
- 13:47Speaker 1: a super nice guy. In general. I thought that they
- 13:51Speaker 1: had a decent amount of chemistry between the two. What
- 13:55Speaker 1: did you think about the chemistry between the two of them.
- 13:58Speaker 2: I believed chemistry. I enjoyed them. I was rooting for
- 14:02Speaker 2: them as a couple.
- 14:03Speaker 1: And what I.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Liked is that they clearly had a connection throughout. And
- 14:09Speaker 2: it wasn't the sort of movie where their enemies throughout
- 14:13Speaker 2: the movie and then they come together in the last
- 14:15Speaker 2: five minutes. They clearly liked each other. They clearly enjoyed
- 14:17Speaker 2: each other's company. And I like when the movies give
- 14:20Speaker 2: us that glimpse because I don't believe it when you've
- 14:22Speaker 2: got enemy, enemy, enemy enemy, Oh we've got to wrap
- 14:25Speaker 2: it up all of a sudden, we're in love. I
- 14:27Speaker 2: liked that they showed us their chemistry, and they showed
- 14:30Speaker 2: us their connection. And of course, you know, they had
- 14:33Speaker 2: roadblocks in their way, which I don't actually think we're
- 14:35Speaker 2: roadblocks at all, but we can talk about that later.
- 14:37Speaker 2: But I feel like they built up their connection throughout
- 14:41Speaker 2: the movie.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I was a little bit worried in the kind
- 14:44Speaker 1: of beginning scenes when she was like annoyed with him
- 14:46Speaker 1: or whatever, and I thought, Oh, no, are we doing this?
- 14:49Speaker 1: But I agreed. They kind of like put that to
- 14:52Speaker 1: the side and they had some cute banter. They really
- 14:54Speaker 1: liked each other's company. They started hanging out together more,
- 14:58Speaker 1: I believe, which then leads me to at the very
- 15:03Speaker 1: end when he comes out to spoiler alert to Jenna's
- 15:08Speaker 1: showcase and he comes out to like introduce her or
- 15:11Speaker 1: the dance or whatever, and I thought, I really like
- 15:15Speaker 1: this guy. He's like humbled and charismatic. I just loved him.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I loved him so much.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Well, my favorite line is when he shows up and
- 15:24Speaker 2: before he goes on stage and he said, you know,
- 15:27Speaker 2: I need to talk to you, and she says, I
- 15:29Speaker 2: thought we said everything that needed to be said, and
- 15:31Speaker 2: he said, we didn't say anything that needed to be said.
- 15:34Speaker 2: And I thought that was such a perfect call out
- 15:37Speaker 2: of the fact that they never had a conversation about
- 15:40Speaker 2: how easy it would have been for them to continue
- 15:42Speaker 2: this relationship. You know, she just assumes that him going
- 15:45Speaker 2: back to his hockey team means that everything is over,
- 15:48Speaker 2: and he points out a hockey's not year round, and
- 15:51Speaker 2: be you know, I can travel, I can you know
- 15:54Speaker 2: you don't. Connecticut and New York are not that far apart,
- 15:57Speaker 2: so we can still continue this relationship. I loved that line. Yeah,
- 16:02Speaker 2: me too.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Okay. I have a couple few little scenes. They probably
- 16:06Speaker 1: didn't mean anything to you, but they were so cute
- 16:09Speaker 1: to me. One was when they went ice skating together.
- 16:13Speaker 1: It was just the two of them, and I thought, oh,
- 16:15Speaker 1: we're gonna do a little ice dancing. In my favorite
- 16:20Speaker 1: episode of Beverly Hills nine o two and zero, when
- 16:23Speaker 1: Brandon meets the she an ice skater you don't remember,
- 16:26Speaker 1: I think she's an ice skater and he plays hockey
- 16:28Speaker 1: and they go and do a little time of your
- 16:30Speaker 1: life out on them. Oh yeah, on the ice rink.
- 16:33Speaker 1: And I was like, this is it, this is what's happening.
- 16:36Speaker 1: And it wasn't. They didn't do any ice dancing. They
- 16:38Speaker 1: actually did a cute little like playing around and shooting
- 16:41Speaker 1: pucks and stuff like that. Totally loved it. Totally thought
- 16:44Speaker 1: that it was an adorable date. I also really liked
- 16:48Speaker 1: that they talked about getting coffee and like their little
- 16:51Speaker 1: town center or whatever, that there was coffee carts all
- 16:53Speaker 1: over town Center, and I was like, man, I really
- 16:56Speaker 1: wish we had something like that, a little coffee cart action.
- 17:00Speaker 1: I could just walk down to my local center and
- 17:03Speaker 1: grab a coffee at a coffee cart and make me
- 17:06Speaker 1: want to hang out. Do you remember that part at all?
- 17:09Speaker 1: I do. I didn't feel that. I mean, there's coffee
- 17:12Speaker 1: on every corner. I guess the cart part is it's
- 17:14Speaker 1: so much more charming. It is charming. Yeah, yes, I know.
- 17:20Speaker 2: But how much time do you spend just walking around enjoying,
- 17:26Speaker 2: like seeing what there is to see? Which is not
- 17:28Speaker 2: to say that we shouldn't.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I just I just don't. Well, you and I don't
- 17:33Speaker 1: live in small towns, and I think if we lived
- 17:35Speaker 1: in a small town that had like a one main
- 17:37Speaker 1: street with no chain coffee places, that sure, if we
- 17:41Speaker 1: lived in Stars Hollow or Eggs, Connecticut, exactly, we would.
- 17:46Speaker 1: My husband even said, you want to start a coffee
- 17:48Speaker 1: cart business, and I was like, yes, I do. Let's do.
- 17:51Speaker 2: My husband once to move to a small town start
- 17:52Speaker 2: an ice cream shop, so you guys can run a
- 17:54Speaker 2: coffee card and we'll run the ice cream shop.
- 17:56Speaker 1: And we'll just have our own Hallmark movie. I freaking
- 17:59Speaker 1: love it. Let's do it, Okay. One final scene that
- 18:03Speaker 1: I thought was so adorable is when she took him
- 18:07Speaker 1: to task on the air hockey game. Yes, that was cute.
- 18:11Speaker 1: I liked that. I loved it. It just that that
- 18:15Speaker 1: stuff just supported like the fun, hangout, banter relationship that
- 18:21Speaker 1: they were building. Agree Agreeded loved it. Is there anything
- 18:25Speaker 1: else that you liked about this movie? I think that
- 18:28Speaker 1: covers it. Okay, I have one last thing. Tell me.
- 18:32Speaker 1: The thing I don't love about the Christmas movies is
- 18:36Speaker 1: like the holiday hijinks. This right, there's no hyjinks. No,
- 18:41Speaker 1: there were no hyjiinkes. I love it. I loved it. Yeah,
- 18:44Speaker 1: it felt like real life.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Yes, like that opening scene where she's just like making
- 18:49Speaker 2: coffee and it's not a hot chocolate with ninety seven.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Marshmallows, and it's not right.
- 18:53Speaker 2: It's just her life obviously her life was So you
- 18:57Speaker 2: saw that Hooga Farms saw it?
- 19:00Speaker 1: Did you care it? Yes? I have something that I'm
- 19:03Speaker 1: going to put in the digital moment.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Okay, Well it's I bumped on it right in the
- 19:08Speaker 2: very beginning, and my in my brain I thought, oh,
- 19:11Speaker 2: it's like a home goods Like that's the kind of
- 19:13Speaker 2: thing you would find at home goods. And I honestly
- 19:15Speaker 2: bet that that's where they found it in like a
- 19:17Speaker 2: home decorps. Like, that's cute, right, and then she ties
- 19:21Speaker 2: it back in. She's like, oh, it's actually my family's
- 19:23Speaker 2: farm day and I was like.
- 19:24Speaker 1: No, it's not.
- 19:25Speaker 2: But I did like that, you know, it was just
- 19:29Speaker 2: a very shot of real life. Even though our friend
- 19:32Speaker 2: comes in. It's like, your life is like a coffee commercial.
- 19:36Speaker 2: That was funny, daring out the window in your cozy clothes.
- 19:40Speaker 2: But yes, I appreciate that the holidays have been wiped
- 19:44Speaker 2: from the movies.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Yes, that's funny to hear you say that. I can
- 19:48Speaker 1: appreciate that the holidays have been wiped from the movies.
- 19:51Speaker 1: You know, I am so done twenty twenty holidays. Bye.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I just okay. So let's move on to so a
- 20:00Speaker 1: news segment for us, it's called uh oh. So in
- 20:05Speaker 1: this segment, we are just looking at the potential roadblocks
- 20:12Speaker 1: to move the story forward. And the first one that
- 20:15Speaker 1: I came up with was we got Jenna who lives
- 20:18Speaker 1: in Connecticut, and Ryan, who is currently playing for the
- 20:22Speaker 1: New York Rangers. They live in different states, but uh oh,
- 20:27Speaker 1: can they not be in a relationship? Can they not
- 20:29Speaker 1: be in a long distance relationship. There are roads.
- 20:34Speaker 2: I am rereading the Babysitters Club series with my daughter,
- 20:37Speaker 2: and for those in the know, the Baby Sitters Club
- 20:40Speaker 2: takes place in the fictional town of Stonybrook, Connecticut, and
- 20:44Speaker 2: Stacy is from New York and often goes back to
- 20:47Speaker 2: New York for her doctor appointments and they drive there
- 20:51Speaker 2: for the weekend. So even the casual Babysitters Club reader
- 20:55Speaker 2: knows that it.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Is a quick drive. Yeah, is it? I just And
- 20:59Speaker 1: here's the the other thing too, is like, he plays
- 21:02Speaker 1: for this professional team, fine, but he doesn't have to
- 21:05Speaker 1: live in New York in the off season. He can
- 21:07Speaker 1: come back to Avon, Connecticut and live with her there.
- 21:10Speaker 1: He's traveling most of the time.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Yeah. They don't even point out that he doesn't have
- 21:15Speaker 2: to live there until the final scene of them maybe.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Oh, that was a little bit frustrated to me. Okay,
- 21:20Speaker 1: I have another uh oh, Okay, there's a mysterious person
- 21:24Speaker 1: taking video of Ryan as he's out on the ice.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Uh oh. He gets called back to the team before
- 21:30Speaker 1: Jenna's big dance finale.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I feel like they built that up to
- 21:36Speaker 2: be this big nefarious thing, right, Like they show the
- 21:39Speaker 2: guy filming, and I was like, what's gonna happen here?
- 21:41Speaker 2: Because what's wrong with what he's doing?
- 21:43Speaker 1: Right? And then he gets called up.
- 21:45Speaker 2: And they can't even have a conversation where she says like, hey,
- 21:48Speaker 2: I'll call you. It's just over, like she's done, like the.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Chemistry's gone, it's over there.
- 21:54Speaker 2: I don't This is my biggest complaint about movies like
- 21:57Speaker 2: this is when they don't have the conversation that needs
- 22:00Speaker 2: to be had, you know. Okay, so we don't have
- 22:03Speaker 2: it all figured out. I'll call you tomorrow, like, hey.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Maybe we can get together this weekend. Like to her,
- 22:08Speaker 1: she's like, it's over.
- 22:11Speaker 2: And that's why I do appreciate he was like, we
- 22:13Speaker 2: didn't say anything that needed to be said.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Yeah, totally. Okay.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Next, let's talk about things we wished were different about
- 22:19Speaker 2: this movie. And I know you have a big list,
- 22:22Speaker 2: So why don't you go first, Wendy.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Okay, it's a big list, but it mostly has to
- 22:26Speaker 1: do with Jenna's storyline. Yes, it was a little all
- 22:30Speaker 1: over the place without much explanation. So first that the
- 22:34Speaker 1: studio competition, She's losing students to a computer studio. There's
- 22:41Speaker 1: like some shady moms happening, but like that doesn't pan
- 22:45Speaker 1: out to be like anything.
- 22:47Speaker 2: What the thing I didn't like about that was just
- 22:50Speaker 2: as she was a bad business woman in that sense.
- 22:52Speaker 2: I don't know a single dance studio that doesn't have
- 22:54Speaker 2: a competitive team aspect to it. That's where they make
- 22:57Speaker 2: their big money. And you can still be the competitive
- 23:02Speaker 2: dance teacher who teaches for the love of dance. You know,
- 23:06Speaker 2: they did their performance in the end and those kids
- 23:08Speaker 2: still enjoyed dance. You can still instill the love of
- 23:12Speaker 2: dance while also having the competition aspect. And also, if
- 23:16Speaker 2: that's the one thing that's going to keep you in business,
- 23:18Speaker 2: sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
- 23:21Speaker 1: You need to pivot if that's what's going to keep
- 23:24Speaker 1: you in business.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Absolutely, And I think she gets lucky here because she
- 23:29Speaker 2: gets saved because she doesn't end up having to do
- 23:32Speaker 2: that because she becomes like, oh, I'm going to be
- 23:34Speaker 2: a sports rehabber, but is or she's going to, you know,
- 23:38Speaker 2: teach these classes for athletes, which okay, fine, but really,
- 23:42Speaker 2: if you think realistically, I'm going to teach a agility
- 23:46Speaker 2: for athletes class in my dance studio, what one a week?
- 23:49Speaker 2: I mean, what's the demand for that really gonna be?
- 23:53Speaker 2: Is that going to be the one thing that saves
- 23:55Speaker 2: your studio? Obviously you can't be rehabbing athletes across.
- 23:58Speaker 1: The country who don't live innwhere near you. You still
- 24:01Speaker 1: got a pivot. Yeah, Well, I think she thought, oh,
- 24:04Speaker 1: I got this connection with my cousin who's a sports manager,
- 24:07Speaker 1: and now I can get all the athletes to come
- 24:10Speaker 1: my way to be a cash cow for her. I
- 24:13Speaker 1: don't know, it was just thought well thought out. I
- 24:15Speaker 1: don't run a competitive studio, lady, right, get the money
- 24:20Speaker 1: where the money is. Here's my other problem. She was
- 24:23Speaker 1: having problems paying the rent at her studio, and big
- 24:28Speaker 1: and beautiful, right, and she's got this gorgeous barn out
- 24:32Speaker 1: in the back where he COO does tell her at
- 24:35Speaker 1: one point, why don't you convert this to a studio
- 24:38Speaker 1: back here? And she then goes off to talk about
- 24:41Speaker 1: how they tried at one time to make it a
- 24:45Speaker 1: cider tasting room, but it's too old and historic and
- 24:48Speaker 1: blah blah blah blah blah. Whatever. Look, there are ways
- 24:51Speaker 1: around this. She could have converted the barn into a studio.
- 24:55Speaker 1: But my point is she went on talking forever about
- 24:59Speaker 1: her dad's dream to make this cider tasting area in
- 25:03Speaker 1: the barn, which made me kind of believe, like, is
- 25:06Speaker 1: she moving that way? Is she going to do that
- 25:08Speaker 1: in the future, And then that just was like nothing.
- 25:11Speaker 2: I did feel like the farm storyline was one that
- 25:14Speaker 2: we didn't get enough information about. They kind of like
- 25:18Speaker 2: threw it in every once in a while to give
- 25:20Speaker 2: her a little bit of backstory, but I didn't fully understand.
- 25:22Speaker 2: I was like, oh, wait, this is on farmland, but
- 25:25Speaker 2: you live in the middle of a residential neighborhood. I
- 25:27Speaker 2: didn't fully understand what was going on there.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Okay, And my final missed opportunity in the Jenna storyline,
- 25:34Speaker 1: she never fully really tells the story about why she
- 25:40Speaker 1: left the ballet company. It has something to do with
- 25:43Speaker 1: like a relationship gone wrong with her boss, Like what.
- 25:47Speaker 2: So she was right in a relationship with the lead
- 25:51Speaker 2: guy who was in charge. She gets injured and while
- 25:54Speaker 2: she's out rehabbing, they replace her, and then he ends
- 25:58Speaker 2: up in a relationship the new prima ballerina. So I
- 26:02Speaker 2: mean that's kind of the whole story, like that she
- 26:05Speaker 2: was no longer of service to him. He was over her.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Is the way I understood it.
- 26:10Speaker 1: When she's out of the spotlight, why is she hanging
- 26:15Speaker 1: her hat on? Some dude, aren't there a bunch of
- 26:17Speaker 1: other ballet companies that you can I mean, I don't
- 26:20Speaker 1: know anything about ballet, but isn't there another company you
- 26:23Speaker 1: can go work for? Yeah? I don't know.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Maybe she felt disillusioned by the fact that they dropped
- 26:28Speaker 2: her like a bad habit when she was injured. And
- 26:31Speaker 2: the interesting thing was her cousin in the very beginning,
- 26:34Speaker 2: He's like, this is the same injury that you came
- 26:36Speaker 2: back from. You made a comeback, But did she really
- 26:39Speaker 2: actually ever make the comeback? She rehabbed and then opens
- 26:43Speaker 2: a dance studio, which is fine. She's clearly good at
- 26:46Speaker 2: her job and enjoys it very much. So everything else
- 26:50Speaker 2: on my list falls into the category of did you
- 26:52Speaker 2: see that?
- 26:53Speaker 1: And I have some things to talk about? This is
- 26:56Speaker 1: my most fun category that we do here on recaps.
- 27:01Speaker 1: I have quite a few, So let's see if we
- 27:04Speaker 1: have some overlappers. Go ahead, Okay.
- 27:06Speaker 2: My first is there's no way that's him in the
- 27:10Speaker 2: opening hockey scene, because there's this guy is beautifully skating
- 27:15Speaker 2: down the ice, and then the up close shots are
- 27:16Speaker 2: like right any space. They found some bearded hockey player
- 27:22Speaker 2: who resembled Luke McFarlane to do all of the hockey shots,
- 27:26Speaker 2: and then they got real tight on his face when
- 27:29Speaker 2: it was time for him to speak. I do not
- 27:31Speaker 2: believe that was him.
- 27:32Speaker 1: They're like, Luke, sell it with your face that you're
- 27:34Speaker 1: playing here all nice.
- 27:36Speaker 2: And then later in the movie, when he takes Felix skating,
- 27:40Speaker 2: he has the friend, who's clearly a very good skater,
- 27:44Speaker 2: get out there and teach him, and then he kind
- 27:46Speaker 2: of like hops on the ice for a quick little lap.
- 27:48Speaker 1: When Jene gism the all clear, you're all clear for it.
- 27:53Speaker 1: I didn't believe. I didn't believe that.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Also, I was like, oh, how convenient that he has
- 27:58Speaker 2: to stay off the ice right now because he's not
- 28:02Speaker 2: a good skater.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Okay, soa speaking of his character. So he plays for
- 28:10Speaker 1: the New York Rangers, which is a real hockey team.
- 28:13Speaker 1: And did you notice how much merch he wore throughout
- 28:18Speaker 1: the entire movie. Now, listen, you know that we have
- 28:23Speaker 1: a professional sports athlete in my family. Yes, never have
- 28:27Speaker 1: I seen this man wear anything from his team in
- 28:32Speaker 1: thirty years.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Well, was he being paid for it to be in
- 28:36Speaker 2: a movie, because I could imagine that if the Rangers
- 28:39Speaker 2: sponsored this movie, there must have been some sponsorship, otherwise
- 28:44Speaker 2: they would have done link.
- 28:45Speaker 1: You know it's the Polar Bears, because.
- 28:47Speaker 2: There's so much New York Rangers placement. Constantly, he constantly
- 28:54Speaker 2: has a sweatshirt on or a jacket on, and obviously
- 28:57Speaker 2: the jersey. They mentioned the team name.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Over and over again.
- 29:01Speaker 2: I fully believe there was an exchange of funds.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Yeah, there had to have been, because in my experience
- 29:06Speaker 1: with professional athletes, they want to keep everything on the
- 29:09Speaker 1: down low. They don't want to be going to pick
- 29:13Speaker 1: up a hot sider where in their New York has
- 29:17Speaker 1: app whatever. So next for.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Me is, look, I know he's like a big fancy
- 29:21Speaker 2: hockey player, used to fancy accommodations. But I didn't believe
- 29:26Speaker 2: when he showed up at Jenna's house that he assumed
- 29:30Speaker 2: that the house was where he was staying. He had
- 29:32Speaker 2: been told he was staying in a guest house. There's
- 29:34Speaker 2: clearly he's like, oh, that's a garage. When she points
- 29:37Speaker 2: out his mistake, it doesn't look like a garage, it
- 29:39Speaker 2: looks like.
- 29:40Speaker 1: A guest house.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it's beautifully painted to match the house. The key
- 29:46Speaker 2: is in the wrong place. He walks in and he's
- 29:48Speaker 2: clearly in someone's home.
- 29:51Speaker 1: I did not buy that for a second.
- 29:53Speaker 2: And then she comes home and he's shocked that she's
- 29:56Speaker 2: walked into his home.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Didn't buy it. I have so many problems with scene
- 30:00Speaker 1: because first of all, she tells him the key is
- 30:02Speaker 1: under the pot, right, So when he gets to her
- 30:06Speaker 1: home she live, he lifts up the mat and there's
- 30:09Speaker 1: a key under the mat. Who on God's green Earth
- 30:13Speaker 1: leaves a key to your home under the mat at
- 30:17Speaker 1: all times? Maybe in Avon, Connecticut you do. Yeah, if
- 30:21Speaker 1: you guys are familiar with Avon Connecticut. I want to
- 30:23Speaker 1: know what the safety is there, or like, what's the
- 30:26Speaker 1: crime there? Because if I can just leave your key
- 30:28Speaker 1: under the mat for any old Joe to walk on in, okay?
- 30:32Speaker 1: But why wouldn't he have stayed in a hotel?
- 30:34Speaker 2: That's what I didn't understand the very beginning, In all caps,
- 30:37Speaker 2: I wrote, why is he staying in her guest house?
- 30:39Speaker 2: And why does she even have a guest house? Because
- 30:41Speaker 2: all of these people we saw the same thing and
- 30:43Speaker 2: never kiss a man in a Christmas letter, she has
- 30:45Speaker 2: a guest house that she doesn't rent out like she
- 30:48Speaker 2: uses for her own studio. But you're telling me there's
- 30:51Speaker 2: not a hotel in this town. There's not an airbnb.
- 30:54Speaker 2: He has to stay in the home of the beautiful
- 30:57Speaker 2: ballet dancer.
- 30:59Speaker 1: They did say that she rints it out during the
- 31:01Speaker 1: summer or whatever, so it's like a perfect place for
- 31:04Speaker 1: him to stay. But still, like a professional athlete is
- 31:07Speaker 1: going to stay in a hotel with very nice accommodations.
- 31:11Speaker 1: He's not staying in some ladies, right.
- 31:13Speaker 2: This is asshional relationship. They're not gonna even though you
- 31:18Speaker 2: know the cousin, they're still not going to have you
- 31:20Speaker 2: stay in her home. She's an employee. She's rehabbing the photo.
- 31:26Speaker 1: Talk to me, I don't remember a photo when they're
- 31:29Speaker 1: in the barn.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Oh, he sees the photos of her and he goes,
- 31:34Speaker 2: wait a minute, as if all of a sudden, he's
- 31:37Speaker 2: just realizing she was a ballerina, which he knew. Whips
- 31:39Speaker 2: out this photo he has on his phone, which there's
- 31:41Speaker 2: like six people in it. It's not a giant group,
- 31:43Speaker 2: and they just happen to be in a photo together.
- 31:45Speaker 2: It didn't occur to him going to work with this ballerina.
- 31:50Speaker 2: He's staying in her home. It's not until he sees
- 31:53Speaker 2: a photo of her that it occurs to him. By
- 31:56Speaker 2: the way, we've already met and we have a photo
- 31:58Speaker 2: together that I'm carrying around on my phone my ex girlfriend, And.
- 32:03Speaker 1: I said to my husband, I go, oh, he just
- 32:05Speaker 1: so happens to pull that up on his phone, like
- 32:07Speaker 1: how old is this photo? And how is it still
- 32:11Speaker 1: on your phone?
- 32:12Speaker 2: He would have a had to scroll forever to find
- 32:15Speaker 2: the photo was right at the beginning of his relationship
- 32:18Speaker 2: with his ex. That was one of the most beautiful
- 32:21Speaker 2: dances I've ever seen. Give me a break. I mean, no,
- 32:24Speaker 2: it was not necessary to the story at all. Nope,
- 32:26Speaker 2: didn't believe it.
- 32:28Speaker 1: I agree. Okay. The other thing I didn't believe is
- 32:31Speaker 1: that Jenna's ballet shoes were perfectly pristine pink. Every ballet
- 32:38Speaker 1: dancer that I've ever seen in one of my best
- 32:40Speaker 1: friends growing up was a ballet dancer. Her shoes are
- 32:43Speaker 1: a wreck, they are worn in and so I was
- 32:47Speaker 1: annoyed by, like there was no reality in the condition
- 32:53Speaker 1: of her ballet shoes. Yes, how about the ice storm? Okay,
- 32:58Speaker 1: so many thoughts on this ice storms of all if
- 33:01Speaker 1: you don't know, we live in southern California. We have
- 33:03Speaker 1: very few rainstorms, let alone ice storms. You might hail
- 33:07Speaker 1: for thirty seconds. Yeah, but the power goes out, and
- 33:11Speaker 1: she calls her friend in this dangerous ice storm to
- 33:16Speaker 1: come on over because it's a game night. Like do
- 33:18Speaker 1: they live next door? Like, don't send your friends out
- 33:21Speaker 1: to come over during this dangerous ice storm. But then
- 33:26Speaker 1: they do come over and they're dry as a bone,
- 33:29Speaker 1: they're not wet at all. Well, and they wear She says,
- 33:36Speaker 1: are you okay to walk home?
- 33:37Speaker 2: And they go, oh, yeah, we have our crampons, which, oh.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Thank you for bringing that up, because I said to
- 33:47Speaker 1: my husband, I said, what a What is a crampon?
- 33:51Speaker 2: The exact definition is a metal plate with spikes fixed
- 33:55Speaker 2: to a boot for walking on ice or rock climbing. Now,
- 33:59Speaker 2: I do not please listeners from states where you have weather,
- 34:03Speaker 2: correct me if I am wrong, But I do not
- 34:06Speaker 2: think these are meant for walking down the street in
- 34:09Speaker 2: an ice storm. They're for like rock climbing or mountain climbing,
- 34:14Speaker 2: not like go into.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Your friend's house for a game night. Did you know
- 34:18Speaker 1: what a crampon was before they said it? I knew
- 34:21Speaker 1: it was for mountain climbing.
- 34:22Speaker 2: I couldn't I but I could not have given you
- 34:25Speaker 2: the exact definition. But oh my god, that's it's funny
- 34:28Speaker 2: in a nutshell. A crampon is a type of spiky
- 34:31Speaker 2: traction device that attaches to your footwear to help provide
- 34:35Speaker 2: gripp and stability while walking or climbing on ice and snow.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Ice climbing, glacier crossing, and snow hiking, they all require crampons.
- 34:45Speaker 2: I mean these images, they're like heavy duty spikes. Just
- 34:49Speaker 2: not for one second, it's like snow tires for your feet.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Not for one second do I believe that people wear
- 34:57Speaker 2: them just to walk from house to house on an
- 34:59Speaker 2: ice worm. I think you stay your ass home and
- 35:02Speaker 2: then it's okay for them to walk home. But she's like,
- 35:04Speaker 2: you couldn't possibly walk across.
- 35:06Speaker 1: The r here's the okay, let us take this one
- 35:10Speaker 1: step further. Would they have the crampons on their feet
- 35:14Speaker 1: in her home or are they putting them on out
- 35:18Speaker 1: on the porch in the weather like it makes no
- 35:21Speaker 1: sense to me. No, you had mentioned earlier houga, the
- 35:25Speaker 1: Danish word for cozy, So you know that I am
- 35:31Speaker 1: married to a Dane and We had a good laugh
- 35:35Speaker 1: about it because she went on talking about how it's
- 35:37Speaker 1: like a Danish No no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 35:39Speaker 1: no no. Her name is Jenna Wagner. Wagner is not
- 35:43Speaker 1: a Danish name. Now, sure, the Danes could have been
- 35:47Speaker 1: like on her mom's side, and then she married a Wagner,
- 35:51Speaker 1: but like, why not just make her a Nielsen or
- 35:54Speaker 1: an Olsen or a whatever. Not Jenna Wagner is a
- 35:58Speaker 1: great continuity question I cannot answer for you. I don't
- 36:01Speaker 1: think they thought that all the way through, and they
- 36:03Speaker 1: didn't they need to hire someone like me to you.
- 36:06Speaker 1: I'm telling you.
- 36:07Speaker 2: What happened was they found the sign in the home Goods.
- 36:11Speaker 2: They thought this is perfect for one of our sets,
- 36:14Speaker 2: and then they wrote the story backwards from that. I guarantee,
- 36:18Speaker 2: if the writers are listening, confirm my suspicion.
- 36:21Speaker 1: I mean, their sign could have said live, laugh, love
- 36:24Speaker 1: or whatever you know, go after your passion, or it
- 36:28Speaker 1: is my mission to find this sign now all right.
- 36:31Speaker 2: My last comment, and you may have more, is about
- 36:36Speaker 2: the diversity in this movie, or perhaps the lack thereof. Okay,
- 36:40Speaker 2: we discussed it in the Countdown to Christmas movies and
- 36:42Speaker 2: some movies did a better job than others, and we
- 36:45Speaker 2: have said that Hallwark appears to be trying, although they
- 36:49Speaker 2: are not there yet. And I would say this movie
- 36:51Speaker 2: fails the diversity test. There's one friend of color. She
- 36:55Speaker 2: has her best friend who is black, whose husband is
- 36:58Speaker 2: even white and super duper white. Like I would say,
- 37:03Speaker 2: this is a fail on the diversity scape.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I was a little disappointed that we didn't see
- 37:08Speaker 1: any other people of color.
- 37:10Speaker 2: Dancers are all white, the kids in the movie all
- 37:14Speaker 2: of his hockey teammates, although hockey is a real white sport.
- 37:17Speaker 2: So yeah, that's true, but that's a fail for me.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Yeah, hopefully we see a little bit more diversity going forward,
- 37:26Speaker 1: not in the lead actors. I'll tell you that, not
- 37:30Speaker 1: in the next five movies, correct, that's for sure. I'm
- 37:33Speaker 1: just going to end this one little note here in
- 37:37Speaker 1: this section of did you see That? And it has
- 37:40Speaker 1: to do with her friend's husband, the real white guy, Matt,
- 37:45Speaker 1: that we were talking about. At one point. He says
- 37:48Speaker 1: that he almost was drafted to the NHL, but he
- 37:52Speaker 1: decided not to go that route because his dad died
- 37:55Speaker 1: and he needed to help save the family business. Why
- 37:59Speaker 1: are you not going going then to the NHL and
- 38:01Speaker 1: getting that NHL money to save your dad's business.
- 38:05Speaker 2: Right, This is not his dad was a real he's
- 38:08Speaker 2: a real estate attorney. This is not a store that
- 38:10Speaker 2: needs to be run. If the father passes away, he
- 38:14Speaker 2: just stops being a real estate There's no assets. I mean,
- 38:18Speaker 2: perhaps he needs the income, but you're right, if it's
- 38:21Speaker 2: the income that they.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Need, go to the NHL. That is a.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Storyline that did not hold up for me. And I
- 38:27Speaker 2: feel like if they wanted it to be I had
- 38:28Speaker 2: to go into the family business. They needed a better
- 38:31Speaker 2: storyline than real estate attorney.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Right. But then on top of it, his wife was
- 38:37Speaker 1: not aware of this because she said early on in
- 38:41Speaker 1: the movie like how she was really trying to get
- 38:43Speaker 1: her husband to get to watch some hockey with her
- 38:46Speaker 1: and this and that and whatever. And then it turns
- 38:49Speaker 1: out that he was once almost a professional hockey player
- 38:52Speaker 1: and this is the reason why he can't watch hockey
- 38:55Speaker 1: anymore because it's too hard for him. Like she like, what, right?
- 38:59Speaker 2: She doesn't make it sound like he has this history
- 39:02Speaker 2: with hockey and that's why he doesn't watch it. It's
- 39:04Speaker 2: just like he doesn't like it. I'm the hockey fan
- 39:06Speaker 2: in the house, and it turns out he has quite
- 39:08Speaker 2: the history.
- 39:09Speaker 1: And yes, wait, I got one. I got okay, okay, okay,
- 39:14Speaker 1: I'm sorry, And I know this one is why you
- 39:17Speaker 1: didn't even bring it up. Blows my mind. But when
- 39:20Speaker 1: the power went out and they were falling asleep on
- 39:22Speaker 1: the couch and they had a million candles burning, Oh,
- 39:26Speaker 1: you're falling asleep with a million candles? Yes, romantic looking,
- 39:30Speaker 1: but not real. Yeah, not safe at all. So yeah,
- 39:35Speaker 1: I was apparently bothered more by that than you.
- 39:39Speaker 2: Well, I will admit that I was double screening this movie,
- 39:42Speaker 2: so I was doing things on my phone while I
- 39:44Speaker 2: was watching. So looking all right, all right, all right,
- 39:50Speaker 2: all of that being said, let's rank this movie.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Are we doing four stars? We're sticking with our four stars.
- 39:55Speaker 1: We're sticking to four stars. Best Hallmark movie we've ever
- 39:59Speaker 1: seen is a four star. For me, I have a
- 40:02Speaker 1: really hard time rating this because I've only seen Christmas movies,
- 40:06Speaker 1: so I don't know how to place this, do you
- 40:09Speaker 1: know what I mean?
- 40:10Speaker 2: Right, So I'll go first, just to give you something
- 40:13Speaker 2: to think about. So, okay, I think the only four
- 40:16Speaker 2: star movie we had was The Twelve Dates of Christmas
- 40:20Speaker 2: am I correct? And I am like you, hesitant to
- 40:25Speaker 2: give a movie four stars because I haven't seen the
- 40:29Speaker 2: rest of the New Year New movies. But for me,
- 40:31Speaker 2: this is a solid three and a half stars, great movie.
- 40:34Speaker 2: Would absolutely watch again in spite of all of our complaints.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Really enjoyed it. I didn't find those things distracting while
- 40:41Speaker 2: I was watching. They were just fun to note and discuss.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Three and a half stars.
- 40:45Speaker 1: I'm going to agree with you. Oh right, a half stars? Yeah, yeah.

- 41:18Speaker 2: much looking forward to that. And Michael Rady is the
