- Catie: Welcome back to From Nine to Mom. Danielle: Where we discuss balancing the nine to five hustle with the beautiful chaos that we call motherhood. Catie: And we still don't have an intro. We need to start getting somebody to like help us with that. Cause I'm so sick of saying that. It sounds so dumb, I feel like. Danielle: So, Katie, this reminds me, I have that bucket list of 40 things that I want to do before I'm 40. And recording this song is on there. I know we talked, so I think we just need to set a goal and do it. Yeah, I know two people who have studio time that we can borrow. We're doing it. Yeah, let's go. I know. It's so exciting. Catie: We've sent this. Let's book studio time and do it. ⁓ my gosh. ⁓ maybe when you come maybe when you come here in this month. This month, we're in July. today is just kind of a catch-up episode because we haven't really like caught up in a hot second. We've had a lot of guests on, so much good information. but like just getting into the swing of summer. You're like Danielle: Yeah. Yeah, so we're I'm on the last run. I literally just made my list for like what do I need to do in July? And it's school prep. I need to do school prep in July because school starts August third. Catie: Feel I feel it, right? It's so sad, but it is. Yeah, that it's really crazy 'cause we're just like, Okay, fourth is like our big kickoff to summer here, like is you're like put up the fall decorations, where my pumpkins and I'm ready. Danielle: We're like ready to go. We're like, Goodbye, summer. I'm like And we're trying to like squish so much into summer. And I know we're gonna talk about this because my girl's trip was awesome. But I have three other trips just this month, two with the kids and one alone, where it's like I feel like summer is one of those seasons where you're just trying to squish everything in and it flies. It really does fly. Catie: Yeah. And especially like I we've talked about it so much because it's so funny. The more moms we talk to, like that have really you hit that four year old mark, maybe five year old mark, and it's camps. It's like, how do you get the kids out of the house something productive rather than there? And I feel like there's just so many people working at home now that it's like ⁓ Danielle: Yes. You and I exchanged this this morning, just like summer is sucks in terms of work. It is so hard. Colton even like he has camp and he was still at the house at ten thirty, 'cause my mom's like, I'll take him, it's fine. And then like she's doing whatever. And I'm like, What are you still doing here? Like I need to focus. I pay for can. Catie: It does. Like we'll get around to it. Go to camp. I paid for you lost you're like you're like my meter's running. It is I'm like psycho like that that I like divided out how much per day. So that way if we wanna keep Jack out, I'm like, okay, is it worth the set the day rate? I know. Danielle: Let's go. You're calcul you're always like that. You're calculating where I'm like, Well, it's over now. I was sitting on vacation. I signed Colton up for the two camps down the wait list. I I don't know if I told you this. And on the trip, I'm panicking because Jordan's like, Do we have camp tomorrow? So I'm trying to look up and horse neither of the camps took us. So we're trying to email and call them on my girls' trip. They're like, What are you doing, Danielle? I'm sweating because it's hot and I'm nervous and like trying to get him into camp. I literally wasted so much time with my friends putting him in camp. Catie: It's gone the money's gone. I know. Yeah. Danielle: For Monday morning only to find out when I got home he never went to camp. Catie: No one took him. Danielle: No one even took the kid to camp. It's fine, it's fine, everything is fine. We're okay. Catie: Are we though? Because like that's the stuff that we're gonna c we crash out about. So let's talk about your girls' trip because that's so positive. So give us the background of the crew. Danielle: Okay. So this friend group, we were all celebrating our 40th. There's a couple girls who've already turned 40, a bunch that turned 40 this year. And then there's two youngins we call them, you know, 36 and 39. They're, you know, turning that age this year, but we laugh about it. And there's 11 girls that ended up going on this trip. We call ourselves LST, which stands for let's stay together. ⁓ We were all in separate sororities or non-sororities, club soccer, like whatever it was that we did, but we all found each other some like different groups. And what's really cool is that over the years, there were clearly like stronger friendships within the groups when we first started, but we've been friends since 2004 for me, 2006, because I made friends with them after joining my RLK fake sorority. It's a real club. I don't know what to call it. It doesn't matter. But we like all met each other then. We've been friends for over 20 years now. it's just so funny like to travel because we split the rooms up, not on purpose. We get there, we're checking in. So the rooms are split into like the moms with older kids. So like and up, right? So there's three of us in the older moms group. Then there's three people and it just so happens like they're in the like baby phase still. Right, like or is still trying to have kids' face. So there's three moms that are in that crew. Then we have the room that had the suite overlooking the ocean, and it's the like no kids, travel abroad, like living life crew. And then we had, you know, the the cat and dog mom crew in another room. It was just so funny, like how it ended up being split up inadvertently. Yeah. So it was really funny, but it was honestly we went to Isla Morata, Florida. Catie: Everyone knew their spot too. I feel like that's important. Danielle: And I don't even know where to begin because we are we are messed up. Like we are a messed up, like sick group of individuals. But we had so much fun. We had the matching shirts, we had the matching hats, the cups, the whatever. And we thought Key West was gonna be like hopping. Like we were ready to rage. We brought suitcases packed with like all this fancy stuff. was not hopping, but we made it hopping. It was beautiful. Catie: Yeah. That's part of it. Anywhere you go. It's like at that point it doesn't even matter typically where you go. It's the same thing I feel like about bachelorette parties. Like, does it really matter where you go? Like when you're with like your friends, it's about being with your fri you could go wherever. And it would Danielle: Yeah, it doesn't matter. As long as we're all together and like the things we end up doing, like we we did a bunch of fun stuff. We rented a boat two days in a row. We rented it one day. Our girlfriend rented it. then the next day, like there was I keep calling it sea gasm. It's called sargasm. It sounds dirty no matter how you put it. It smells terrible and it's like this red seaweed. So we couldn't go into the water at our our resort was great, but we couldn't go into the water and it smelled like rotting eggs. So we went on a boat. Two days in a row. I almost didn't come home. I'm not gonna lie. I'm gonna post some videos for you guys. So the first day we're out there, you drive out to this sandbar. There are like boats. There's a grill in the ocean. There's a food truck in the ocean. Okay. The captains are setting up all this shit. And the next thing you know, this dog swims over to me with a hat on and a shark thing. Okay. A shark like life vest. And you know me. I'm like, I can't help myself. This is my dog now. Catie: I saw the Hilarious. This is my dog. I am this is my dog. Danielle: This is my dog now. And if that wasn't enough the next day when we went out on the ocean, we text the same guy who took us out the day before. I was like, hey, Brady, like, man, that was so fun. Like, we gotta do it again. Let's go. We want the sunset version this time. So he takes us out. He's like, I can't get the other guy we were with. like the next thing you know, we get to the dock, and who comes running? This dog was not my captain. He was the first mate of another guy named Mark. He's 73. Catie: Yeah. Danielle: Murph comes running up to me and the whole boat ride is like sitting on my lap, like hate they're like, Tinya. I'm like, I live here now. This is my this is my best friend Murph. I'm living on a houseboat. I'm never coming home. It's over. It's over for me. But Catie: Bye. Who cares if camp happens or not? 'Cause I'm not coming home. Danielle: Yeah, I don't care, guys. I sent it to my family. I said, guys, I'm sorry. Like, come down here or stay there. I don't even care anymore. But like, I don't know. I just the trip was great. We we, of course, met the manager of the resort. He brought us bottles of champagne. We but you know when you're with your friends, you do dumb shit. Like my girlfriend one night it was like 2 a.m. and her sorry, I'm I'm calling him out. I already told her I was gonna talk about this because I can't not. Catie: Yeah. Yeah, they're have to know. Danielle: You know when you your single friends and it's funny because they're still dating and they have bumble and I'm like scrolling her bumble, like matching her with everyone on the island, which is like probably five people, right? And the next thing I know is I see a text come through it says, like they you know how it does the AI overviews or whatever? It says boner pick incoming. So if you have kids listening to this, turn it off. Catie: Ha ha ha. Yeah. It gives like a yeah. Danielle: Boner pick incoming. So we are dying. She just got done telling us about this guy, like whatever. I, of course, take the phone. I get locked out. I'm like, I tell her like this came through. She's like, give me the phone. Give me the phone. The other friend is like, her code is she's trying to yell at me the code, but she can't get the code out because we're too excited because we want to look at this picture. This poor man. And my poor friend. We take the phone, we get in the phone, we are reviewing the photos, okay? And this poor guy gets the nickname Dick Pick David. That's what I start calling him immediately. But if it sticks, you know, like one of those things stick. So then we do video reviews of him and send them to him. And like we use ChatGPT to come up with like the food critic, the ES this guy, she better marry him because. Catie: It's done. Danielle: He was a sport. He played into the whole thing. We made him a cup. When we I say we, I made him a cup. My girlfriend Maggie, like it had the whole imagery and like things going on. I used it for the next day for him in his memory. So then when we got on the boat, the guy's name was David. It wasn't the same David. So we're all going tick pick David, bunch of 40-year-old people. But then in the same breath. Catie: He was going along with it. Hilarious. This poor guy. Danielle: We spent half our time looking like a cult learning how to float and like chicken fighting in the ocean. So it was it was one of those trips. Catie: I love it. It's fun and it's awesome that you still hang out with all of them and keep in touch. Like it's it's good because not everyone has that. Danielle: Yeah, I feel we're together, we're like we always talk about how insanely lucky we are. And I know how lucky I am. And like every time I'm with them, it gives me life. Like you remember who you were, but like also respect who you are now and much you've come and grown as a group. Like all my friends are insanely talented, smart, like gifted. Like they're just such beautiful people. But like I think the thing is, is it's not. Catie: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Danielle: The thing we realize is it's not easy. Like people always ask, especially there were younger bachelorette parties and stuff there, and they're like, you guys have been friends for 20 years, and that sounds insane, but it's like, how do you do it? And I think the reality is it's like it takes effort. It really does. We choose each other just like you choose your spouse. Every year we go to a cabin, we call it Cabin Fest. You've seen us do this ridiculousness with our flannels and flip cup trophies and whatever. They, you know, I was just in Catie: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Danielle: New York visiting my one girlfriend, like in the my well, two of my girlfriends. And then we did this trip. And while we're on the trip, the one girlfriend books a flight. She's coming here on Friday now, because God forbid we're separated for more than ten minutes, even though we live in however many states away. And I just think we keep choosing each other over and over again and making it a priority. And I saw a quote this morning. It was so fitting. And I I'm not gonna do it justice, but The reality is, is the way you keep friends in the long haul, like through the long-term seasons of life, is that you don't expect them to stay who they were. You allow them to grow and change and they evolve. We at this point, we've gone through, we met in college, we've gone through breakups, so kids. ⁓ Divorces, job changes, existential crises, people have dropped off. I've been one of them where they have to pull me in and be like, Danny, where are you? Come back to us because I'm wrapped up in work or life. You know, these like we've seen each other through all these different phases and versions of each other, but we love each other at every single stage. And I think that that's so important. I think friendships die if you think about the friendships that you haven't kept through life. Catie: Yeah. Right. Right. Danielle: They're the ones where you expect that person to be the person that you met in high school. Like nobody's gonna be the person they were in high school. Catie: Right. Well and people are gonna like ⁓ that I'm even bringing this back up, but like I hate to say it, but Mel Robbins is right. Right? Like with with her she talks a lot about friendships and like the biggest things of like who you're who your friends are, like a lot of it's out of convenience, location, like all those things matter unless it's a two way street and the commitment's there. So like when that's not there it's Danielle: Yeah. Catie: you know, people do change and things evolve and that. Like I feel like I've had friends that like have come and gone, you know, like they they go and then you're like, like we're in different phases. And then especially when you're having kids, like it's a huge time where you kind of hibernate and you need people to like pull you back in and be like, hey, you've been unresponsive for three months. Are you okay? Like and gotta be able to to do that. But I also think that it takes Danielle: Yeah. Yeah, that is a big one. Catie: takes a special person to be able to go on a trip with that many people and like that because I know me and one of my friends were like, you know, like the guys are Ryan's on a golf trip right now. It's like a couple friends, but like some family is there too. And we me my friend were like, let's like plan a trip. Let's And we're like, all right, like who do we want to invite? ⁓ well we can't invite them because like Danielle: Yes. Yeah. Catie: They don't like to do the bougie shit that we like to do or they're too bougie. They're like and we're like, wait, are we the problem? Like, are we the problem? No, we're we're not easy to travel with. But it is hard to like go share a room with people and like do all of that. Danielle: That part is hard. No. Yeah, and I think that that was the big part when we were choosing. We always do cabins since college because cabins, our houses have gotten bougier and bougier and bougier. And then we laugh and we're like, it's I mean, it's still a cabin, but we're like, this is a very we go back in time to where we were before, but our crew has doubled in size because of the marriages, kids, whatever, all that stuff. And I think this trip specifically, we're turning 40 it was very hard to decide. We ended up doing a poll. Catie: Yeah. Danielle: Because we did a poll for which weekends where people were available. And then we did a poll for like what kind. Like, do we want to rent a house? Like, where do we want to go? well, no, we did the place first, then what kind of resort? Because we have friends right now, like I said, we have a friend who's who's through IVF, right? We have friends who just open their own business and they can't like, they're not looking to spend eight million dollars. So it was like there is compromise that goes into it. Catie: You have to. Yeah. Danielle: And the collective kind of helps to figure out. So, like, yeah, would we have wanted to be like potentially in the Caribbean or know, even in another country? ⁓ but when you have a friend that's going through something, like you can't go by Zika, we're not gonna go by Zika. We're gonna plan this trip around that. so one of those experiences where you do have to say, like, you might be the bougie friend, and that's okay. That's okay. ⁓ You a Catie: And ⁓ it changes, right? Like it's totally changes time to time, like when you are feeling it and when you're not. Danielle: Well, and you can't get mad too. Like, so you and I know who you're talking about, but like you and your friend, here's the deal. Our friends go on little tiny group trips throughout the year as well. We just make sure that annually we all go together. The little tiny bo we have a group chat, it's nonstop. And if somebody's doing something, they say, Hey, we're going to Ecuador a couple of my friends just went to the Galapagos Islands to like play with the turtles. Like would I have loved to go? Yeah. If I told my husband I'm going to Galapagos and leaving you and the kids behind for my eighteenth trip of the year, he'd be like, Hell no. Catie: Yeah. Everyone. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Danielle: You know, so like I couldn't do that one. No, ⁓ you know, yeah, we wouldn't have hit fourteen years. So just yeah, it's but it is really cool and I think like you do have to just be flexible and I think that the Catie: You guys would wouldn't have made it to the wedding anniversary yesterday. Impressive. Danielle: I don't even know if it's a reflection or what, but this weekend reminded me that it's so fun to have friends still that knew you before you were a wife, knew you before you were a mom, knew you before you were, you know, running a company or whatever. Like that's like such a special gift. Like laughing until you cry over the dumbest stuff is like such like a healing process. And like the Friendships that you make through life. Like they're just such a like incredible part of like helping you be grounded and okay with like where you are in life. And there were people there, there were really exciting announcements. One of our friends just hit like her partner lost his twenty eight year old daughter, like within the last like that week. Like they were doing Shiva that weekend. He still let her show up. It was tough. It was, you know, it's Catie: Yeah. Danielle: unbearable what she's going through, but she still showed up. We were there for her in that moment. So it was like one of those things where like you don't realize how lucky you are until you're surrounded by that stuff. So I would say like if you do have friendships, not to get like philosophical, but if you do have friendships, yeah, you know that. Like, but like if you have a friend that you've been thinking about that you've fallen out of touch with or whatever, or it's been a rough time, like text them, call them, reach out to them. Like you never know what people are going through or Catie: You want to get close. Yeah. It is. Yeah, what they're not yeah, like what they're not saying. And yeah, I think too it's it is important to reach out to those people. And it goes both ways too, because sometimes it's it's hard to feel like that and where you're like, they're not reaching out to me. But again, you don't know what people are going through. And if you're in a phase where you're able to reach out to someone and like I have the space to to talk or like do s do that, like you should. think too, it's funny because I called you a couple of times on this trip because we leave each other for alone for that many days. ⁓ Danielle: Pete, they're probably missing me too. Yeah. You did. I didn't care. I loved it. Catie: ⁓ in every time that I called, you're like, someone's giving me advice about work and like that. And it's cool to like, and I've had a couple of conversations with my friends this week about like work and like changes. And I feel like a lot of people are having like the the crisis of like, and maybe it's like summertime, like as a nation and people that like, what am I doing? Why am I going to go work in an office? Why do I work for someone else? Like, Danielle: Yeah. Catie: Or how do I make more money but have more time at home with the kids? Like everyone's craving that like in between You what I mean? Danielle: Yes. It's a I I think it could just be millennial moms, to be honest with you. Like I not movement. Yes. But it is. That's what a lot of our conversations were about. And I know that's one of the things you were talking to me when you call me about your f like your friends and whatnot. And it's like we're all sitting there and we're all trying to solve each other's problem collectively, right? You're like, it's not even a problem. It's just like an opp an opportunity, a Catie: It's like a whole movement of all of us. Sure, I'll call Yeah. But that's like the thing about all of us too is like everyone that you were probably with was like, okay, we can all figure out how to make Danielle a millionaire and but she doesn't ever have to work and like Danielle: Yeah, like seriously. There were a million businesses started on this trip, just so you know. There were like a million ideas. Like we were gonna have a boat charter. We were gonna have apps. Like people were just throwing stuff out there. And that's like don't you feel like that's something like we hear, especially you and I being in the entrepreneurial space, is just women just throw it at the wall. Let's go. Let's have a good time. Catie: It comes down. Yeah. But it you know what? Let's send that in for a trademark, just in case. Like it is though. Like you think of these things and then it's like this we don't have time to execute. And then that's where like you go and doom scroll and you're like, What are these people doing? Like you are making that much money for posting yourself sitting outside. Danielle: Like yeah. Yeah, wait, Katie, you're gonna die. Cause you so those of you who know me, like know that I am so awkward. Like I'm definitely awkward. I'm not like the like, but Katie and I have to do posts, right? Like we have to be on not only is it part of our job, like it's part of having the podcast. So Katie is telling me to get video footage, like of certain like of things. And I am like my friends are laughing at me. Like I need you to understand. They're like, Catie: Yes. Danielle: What are we doing here? And I'm like, just it's for Katie, she'll kill me. Like just videotape me floating in the water, okay? Catie: Yeah. They like think I'm like your like I can only match. Like I have a deadline. Danielle: My creative director, I made you sound like you were like with me this, like, but I was like, I need to get it to her today. And like the first round of videos were like of me videoing all my friends. And Katie's like, no, you have to like you have to be in some of these videos. I'm like, fine. So I'm asking them to do it. And the things they're videoing, like looking from the outside in, and I don't know how we ⁓ my ADD is ADDing hard, but like looking at it, like I there are these beautiful people like influencing and making all this money, like. Catie: Yeah. Danielle: I'm taking videos literally of forty year olds like chicken fighting or pretending to take butt photos. ⁓ you like the mermaid flip? That was good. Catie: Hair the hair flip was good though. The hair flip was good. That was very like 2009. Danielle: So I was going for like Ariel two thousand, like like not two thousand, like nineteen ninety, what what year that movie come out? The nineteen nineties was where I was going with that. But I'm glad that it gave you like two thousands like Catie: I don't know. Nineties. I know. Danielle: Hot girl hair flip. Catie: Yeah. Yeah, like that's what it was there. I'll have to put a montage together of all of the content you sent. Danielle: Yeah, there's there's so much more. We looked like a cult the whole time. Catie: I'm like, okay, she's like sending me the updates of like what's going on and I like to see what's like, you know, there. I also very much appreciated that I had your location and could stalk you. So thank you for for that. Danielle: I'm I've given in. I've given in. I'm a lover of the location. I love seeing like all of us were traveling home from like we have people in New York, Long Island, Virginia, Atlanta, Charleston. I could see everybody where they were going. We knew they got home safe. I'm not, ⁓ mean, at one point we told someone we got lost, which she did get lost a little. And she's like, I was watching her dot the whole way. Like she did not get lost. So, you it is a little stocky, but I love it. Catie: Right. It's nice. You're in. Danielle: So you're welcome. Catie: Yeah. And then you find you're too busy half the time to even look at what everyone's doing. But like I had to look, I'm like, where did you even go in Florida? I don't even know. I think someone actually asked me and I was like, I don't know. You you're in Florida. Danielle: Yeah, because I barely knew where I was. It was the Chica Resort. So if you're ever going there, it was really nice, but do not go when there's sargasm. It smells. But it's all the way up through Miami. But like how I know like we talked a lot about me and my friendships because I just I'm feeling very like nostalgic and full of love. Like, what about you? What's going on? Catie: You gotta look at for when the sarcasm is. No, we should keep on that energy 'cause you know where I'm at. in life. Well, it's like give the people what they need. ⁓ my God. I can't keep up. Okay, so I so many people have reached out to me about that. I did a post basically being like, how are people keeping up with Love Island? And I think we mentioned it like at the beginning of June when we like we had an episode out. And I don't Danielle, it's it's ⁓ five epis one hour it's five hours a week commitment to watch this. I am so behind. Danielle: Yeah, like give you l give the people what they need. Love Island, what is it? Yeah, easy. Catie: that I can't even figure out how to get caught up. I'm getting my recaps from the toast and I'm just like Yeah, because I'm like at this point there's been so many episodes. How am I gonna watch fifty episodes? I don't have like at this point I literally have 40 hours of watch time still to catch up. Danielle: Are you getting spoilers? Like do you get spoilers when you're scrolling? So that's the worst. Yeah. Like how do you do that as an adult? I mean, I have washed off campus. I'm on my third round. I probably have time for this, but we'll keep going. Catie: I know. Everyone's like, it's so good and like it's just it's trending and I'm like, I wanna stay on top of it, but I really just don't have the time. it's not great, but otherwise this is not a really there's nothing exciting going on in my life, I'd say. We're like just kick literally kick yeah, we're like just kicking off summer. So like Danielle: I'd say there's always stuff going on. Catie: We're gonna be like, I'm excited to get the kids in the pool and do that. I think the biggest update on my end has been that Calvin gave up his Binky. And we were like not really I really had no intention to like he's the baby. Like once that for me, like literally in this house, there's nothing else that keeps him a baby. Like he's in a bed. He like the only thing is he's still wearing pull ups at night, but he might be in that till he's like 10. Who knows? So like Danielle: I cannot believe he did that. On his own. Yeah, you know with boys you really never know. Catie: No, so it's like else keeps him a baby is his binky and he just likes to cuddle with his binky at night and that had gotten really bad over the last month. Like the more he was home, the more he was using it and we just didn't care. Danielle: That's what I'm seeing with Daisy. And Daisy definitely needs to get rid of it. So like very clearly needs to, but I can't. I can't. Catie: It's just like that was the other thing you can see like on hit like he has a big overbite and like the dentist had said it. Let's be honest, every kid needs braces. Like there will be a need if you go to an Orthodontist, every single kid could use braces. So it doesn't like does the Binky really matter in the long run? Maybe some kids are worse off with it. I don't really know, but I'm not an expert on that. But I have to 'cause Danielle: Yeah. Catie: I need I need this, everyone, so just let me have it. And I know it sounds annoying, but both of my kids freely gave up their binky. Danielle: Yeah, you that is unbel truly an unbelievable situation. Catie: And just like I'm pretending you're all clapping for me and just like I just need this. I need it. So just like I'm such a good mom. Like just telling but like he jacket was like one day he was like, I don't need him, give him to Calvin, which totally made sense, right? Like Calvin was a baby. It like it had made sense that he felt like he wanted to, and we had been talking to him about it. Danielle: They are clapping, cheering. Katie, Katie, Dick Pick, David, no. Catie: Kelvin, we didn't, we're ⁓ this summer you're gonna give up your binky. Like, we don't know how when or whatever. And he's like, all right, cool. All of a sudden, just came home one day and was like, I need a bag. I'm gonna ship all of my binkies to Mila, which is my niece. He went out, took them out to the mailbox, put them in the mailbox, came back, was like, awesome. Hasn't cried once. The only issue we're having is like if he wakes up, he struggles to go back to sleep because that was his leg, you know, so he's learning that. But Danielle: Yeah, that's Yeah, it's not soothed. I cannot believe he walked them out to the mailbox on his own and was like, okay, no. Catie: Did I send you the video? ⁓ my gosh, I'm gonna send it right now. I clipped together a video. Maybe I'll post it if you think it's good. But yeah, they just all they mean and Ryan are both like he literally came home. We had no no prep. Like I would have gotten him a cute like cute something to do or like had a toy and we went and he did get to pick out a toy. so ⁓ yeah, I gotta send it. In his little glasses, he's doing so good. So Danielle: As you're crying behind the camera, like, This is so good, but I'm also not ready. I'm so proud of him. Catie: yeah, I just need a pat on the back this week because I like I gotta keep it real here. Jack has been screaming, crying every day at Camp Drop Off and it's just torturing me. And we're get through it, friends. ⁓ But Danielle: Yeah, you I mean, you've got this. You've done this before with him. He'll be fine. It's just a hard season and it's just the beginning. So I know it feels like, this is not gonna end. But I feel like you you're baddie, you're gonna be fine. Catie: Yeah. And it's so hard because it's like I know that he's doing well and I'm like extra emotional this week. So I'm just like he cries and it's so hard as a parent to like keep it together when they're upset. And like just like today it was a really aggressive on his end. Like the getting up and chasing after me. I'm like, okay. Like then I started getting mad. I'm like, okay, no. Like you can cry sweet and like I'll be teary, but like at some point you get annoyed and you're like, You are putting on a freaking show and we need to Danielle: Yeah. This is extra Catie: Get this going. it's also really hard because we're at like a camp where it's like teenage counselors and they're not equipped like at school, like they're, you know, there is they are professionally trained. It's different. So it's difficult. So can't wait for Ryan to be home and take him on Monday and take a little bit of the burden off me. ⁓ Danielle: you know that you have adults. Now like it's just different, yeah. Yeah, it'll be like a whole n you could go get coffee that morning and like experience joy but Catie: Well, it's just so that's why if everyone saw, Danielle sent me a motivational audio message that I turned into an Instagram audio because I'm like, You need s like need to like have a pick me up and it is so hard to go from that and then like have to jump into a meeting. I had to cancel my first meeting of the day. I'm like I Danielle: Yeah, well, and that's like we've talked about this before, but I feel like it's something that not enough people talk about. Is like that transition it's expected to happen immediate, so fast. You're good to go, like between your kids and stuff. And it's just not like it doesn't work that way. And then you said something before you I sent you the message. Katie had said, you know, I'm Exercising, I forgot I had free will and I can go do this for myself. And it's so true. Like sometimes we forget we have free will to do things that are like important. I think like, you know, whether that's touching grass or getting a diet coke, Katie and I were talking this morning. I was like, I really want to order coffee, but like I also want to order lunch. Like I shouldn't do it. But then we're like, yeah, we should do something. We deserve it. Catie: I can just go get a diet coke at We deserve one thing. It brings happiness and it helped a lot. My diet cook was excellent and I was in such a better mood. And then Jack walked out of there like he didn't fucking torture me all morning. I'm like, Cool dude, I'm glad you had fun. I've been miserable all day. Thank you. Danielle: It does bring happiness. You have to like Do what things are doing. But that's what always happens. They always say that. So like but you're still holding on to it because you feel like the worst mom ever. Catie: It is. And I know so many parents go through this and I tortured my parents with this too. Like I did this till second grade to my mom. So I under I understand it's more widespread. So big shout out to my friend. I went and got us coffee and I went over to her house and cried and then I was better. Danielle: And that's what see, back to friendships. You got your coffee, you went to your friend, she made you feel better. Sometimes just saying it out loud makes you feel better, you know, and just Catie: That's funny. Yeah. It's just yeah. So that's been really difficult. But we're gonna have a good summer. We're gonna go spend the fourth at my parents and have big pool parties. And gonna great. But I will say my other best thing that started is that I I'm coaching soccer right now. And I just have to say, like anybody that coaches children under 10 years old, like Danielle: ⁓ okay, bringing you all the joy. Coach Katie. Catie: We need to give some grace at these things. There should be a zero judgment to anyone that freely registers to coach, especially at like a house league or something like that. And, you know, 'cause there's always like judgment of like, ⁓ they shouldn't have even volunteered. But it's like, then you get your ass out here and coach. Like so many parents on the sidelines have s a lot to say. And I could go on a tangent. Danielle: Headline coaches are the worst kind of coach. You know? Catie: Yeah. And like Ryan just came off. He was the head coach for T ball. So I and I'm only the assistant coach because I just didn't it's I d I didn't know. No. No, you know I'm not. You know I'm not. looking at the like and I don't know, maybe someone will find this eventually that it's on our team. But I have a problem with like not being in control. Like I am gonna have to start like Danielle: How you doing okay with that? You doing okay being the assistant? Okay, just checking. Yep. Yeah, we talked about this this morning. We both we both do. You need to go to therapy. That's like why and that's like the one thing. I'm the most self aware person. And when she's like, You have control issues, I'm like, No, not me. And she's like, Danielle, you like Catie: going to therapy or something because I'm just like I just like Not I. But that's the thing is then I'm like, do I need therapy? Like I can sit here and address that I am having these things and I'm not I wasn't mean and pr like I'm not acting on any of this, but it's all going on in my brain that I'm like, you wanna only do that? Like come on, I've got like ten it's taking up the space. You're right. Like Danielle: Yeah, but that's the problem, it's taking up space in your brain. I 'cause I'm and then like I don't know. You you can't do it all. Therapy's just another thing you have to go to, so Catie: It's hard. It's like great. I might as well have just been the head coach instead of go to therapy. For the time. I don't know, but I think it's time for us to clock out because we have more meetings today. But we hope everyone has an awesome fourth of July, whether it's the first month of summer or the last. Danielle: Right, it would have saved you time and money. Yeah. Last. enjoy this time. And if you're don't have a plan, like make your friend book a flight for forty eight hours because you don't want to be alone. Catie: And if you need friends, we need friends too, so reach out. Danielle: Yeah, come on down. reach out. We'll clock back into our nine to five and then we'll see you next week. Catie: See you next time.
