- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So today we're talking about the fact that we have a sometimes a
- 0:38self-imposed sense of everything is about us.
- 0:41You know, like we're we think it's you know, part of our
- 0:44questioning in our minds is always comes back to what does
- 0:47this mean to me? Because we are all
- 0:49self-centered, we have to be in order to survive.
- 0:52That's just the human brain. We're never going to get past
- 0:54that. It's our condition to be safe
- 0:56and we have to understand that that's part of it.
- 0:59So when it comes down to being part of a team, when you come
- 1:03down to saying, OK, I'm part of a family, I'm part of a couple,
- 1:07I'm part of a business, I'm part of an executive team, a
- 1:11leadership team, whatever it is, the keyword in this all is part.
- 1:15You are part of something. You are not the whole of
- 1:19something. You are part of something.
- 1:21And that is a huge problem because most of us operate from,
- 1:27we are not just part of it, it's all about us.
- 1:30So that's why we get so worked up about the fact that when
- 1:35we're part of something and some pieces of it are not working the
- 1:38way we want it to work. Meaning you're on a team.
- 1:42Actually, let's use the example of going back to like 7th grade.
- 1:45When you're in 7th grade, 8th grade, you're in a Group, A
- 1:47science group, you get assigned and right away you feel
- 1:51overwhelmed because you know there are people in this group
- 1:53that are not necessarily going to work at the level you're
- 1:56working out. We've all had that experience
- 1:58and we all know it's like I'm going to do all the work and
- 2:02this person is not going to do any of it.
- 2:04And this really is part of where another trigger in this process
- 2:08is. Because if you're part of the
- 2:09team and you know part of the team is going to lack and you
- 2:12still want the outcome, you start to pick up all the slack.
- 2:16You start to make sure the outcome is going to happen.
- 2:18And before you know it, you're frustrated as hell that you know
- 2:22you're not getting the accolades maybe or you're not getting and
- 2:25you have to share the accolades. So understand that's part of a
- 2:29trigger that's been wired into US ever since we were kids.
- 2:32Now Fast forward to where we are and understanding that you are
- 2:36part of a team, you are part of a puzzle.
- 2:39You are not the whole puzzle when it comes to everything.
- 2:43Now you yourself are a whole puzzle to put together, but when
- 2:47you are part of something, you are a just a part of the puzzle.
- 2:51And it's important to remember that you don't have to take on
- 2:55all of the duties, all of the activities, all of the thoughts
- 3:00of that bigger piece, a bigger puzzle that you are essentially
- 3:05taking part in. And this is where we get so hung
- 3:08up, because especially those of us that are very certainty
- 3:11driven and want certain outcomes, we just will work
- 3:15ourselves up because we know we see pitfalls, we see all these
- 3:19things that could potentially go wrong.
- 3:21We see better ideas, different directions.
- 3:24But it this all leads back to you can't care more than the
- 3:27person who owns the puzzle, the people in charge, and you are
- 3:31just part of it. So there are times when you can
- 3:33share and there are times when you just have to surrender to
- 3:36the process. And this is probably the hardest
- 3:38thing that I have ever, ever had to learn in my world is when I
- 3:42am part of something, I have to remember my puzzle.
- 3:45My totality of my puzzle can come to their puzzle, but then
- 3:49it becomes part of it. And I am not going to be able to
- 3:52shift those who do not want to be shifted.
- 3:55If they're asking for help, great.
- 3:57Do I have, Am I requiring them to say you have to use my help?
- 4:01I used to and I was always frustrated.
- 4:03I was always pissed off. I always had these Oh my gosh,
- 4:07why won't they listen? What is the issue?
- 4:09It's right in front of you. But maybe their lesson is they
- 4:12have to suffer in order to learn.
- 4:14Maybe their lesson is that they have to have these incidents go
- 4:19wrong so that then they can make a decision about what they want
- 4:21to do next. Some people really do, My
- 4:24friends have to crash and burn before they say, OK, there's a
- 4:29different approach here. There was a different way to do
- 4:31this here. Or maybe I am following false
- 4:33prophets and I am not listening to the people that I should be
- 4:36listening to. Because there are a lot of false
- 4:39prophets out there and they will try to steer you wrong.
- 4:43And it's your job to really sift through the information and
- 4:47decide what resonates in your soul, in your gut, as if you
- 4:51feel something off, pay attention to it.
- 4:53If you know something's not a great idea, stay away from it.
- 4:58If you feel like, oh, I can't even put my finger on it,
- 5:00remember there's a reason. So keep in mind you are part of
- 5:06a puzzle when you are working together.
- 5:08You do your part and you do your part well.
- 5:11And that's the part I really want to focus on right now for
- 5:14the end. I want you guys to recognize
- 5:16when you are part of a puzzle, don't stress yourself out about
- 5:21the whole puzzle. Stress your put the stress on
- 5:24the fact that you want to do the best you can do for the what
- 5:28you're supposed to be focused on.
- 5:29And then you can walk away with your head held high knowing
- 5:33well, I did my part. I shared everything that I
- 5:36possibly could. But I refuse to take on the
- 5:40stress of everything else and add it to me when I had no
- 5:44control over it. Hear what I just said?
- 5:47You had no control over it, so why put that stress on yourself?
- 5:51Very important piece, extremely important piece.
- 5:54Please hear what I say because this is the biggest part of what
- 5:57I talk to people about all the time is that they can see
- 6:00something happening and no one will take action.
- 6:03And This is why you have to separate yourself and say, I am
- 6:06only part of this puzzle. I am not the whole puzzle.
- 6:08My part looks perfectly put together.
- 6:10My pieces have been done the right way.
- 6:12I have put myself under the right conditions to thrive in
- 6:16that. And if it doesn't work with the
- 6:18rest of it, that's because the rest of it is not working.
- 6:22So hopefully this is helpful and I will see you guys tomorrow.
- 6:27Have a very blessed day. Bye.
