- Lucas: And we're back for another episode of Learn Swedish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Ready to learn some more Swedish? I've been practicing from the last episode. Lucas: Good to hear. Today we're going to the market again, but this time we're focusing on fish and seafood. Luna: Oh, I love seafood. Let's dive in. Lucas: If Fexingo has been helping you make progress with Swedish, we'd love your support. We deliberately don't run ads, and listener support keeps it that way. You can find the link at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Yeah, it's a great way to keep the show going. Now, back to fish. Lucas, what's the first phrase? Lucas: First, you want to say 'I want fish.' In Swedish, that's 'Jag vill ha fisk.' Let's break it down: Jag vill ha fisk. Luna: Jag vill ha fisk. Lucas: Exactly. Now, if you want to ask if the fish is fresh, you say 'Är fisken färsk?' Luna: Är fisken färsk? That's a good question. Lucas: Yes. The word 'fisk' becomes 'fisken' when it's definite. So 'fisken' means 'the fish'. Luna: Got it. Fisken. Lucas: Now, if you want a specific amount, like half a kilo, you say 'Ge mig ett halvt kilo.' Luna: Ge mig ett halvt kilo. So that's 'give me half a kilo.' Lucas: Right. 'Ett halvt kilo' is half a kilo. You can use it for any item. Luna: What about shrimp? I love shrimp. Lucas: Shrimp is 'räkor'. To ask 'how much do the shrimp cost?' you say 'Hur mycket kostar räkorna?' Luna: Hur mycket kostar räkorna? That's a lot of r's. Lucas: It is. But it's a common question. And finally, if you decide on salmon, you say 'Jag tar laxen.' Luna: Jag tar laxen. So 'I'll take the salmon.' Lucas: Exactly. Let's practice all five phrases. Jag vill ha fisk. Luna: Jag vill ha fisk. Lucas: Är fisken färsk? Luna: Är fisken färsk? Lucas: Ge mig ett halvt kilo. Luna: Ge mig ett halvt kilo. Lucas: Hur mycket kostar räkorna? Luna: Hur mycket kostar räkorna? Lucas: Jag tar laxen. Luna: Jag tar laxen. Lucas: Now let's put it in a scene. Imagine you're at the market and you see fresh fish. Luna: I'll say 'Jag vill ha fisk.' Then I'll ask 'Är fisken färsk?' Lucas: The seller says yes, and you say 'Ge mig ett halvt kilo.' Then you see shrimp and ask 'Hur mycket kostar räkorna?' Luna: They're a bit expensive, so you say 'Jag tar laxen.' instead. Lucas: Perfect. That's a whole conversation. Let's do it one more time together. Luna: Jag vill ha fisk. Är fisken färsk? Ge mig ett halvt kilo. Hur mycket kostar räkorna? Jag tar laxen. Lucas: Great job, Luna. Now you can go to a Swedish fish market with confidence. Luna: Absolutely. Practice these phrases, and see you next time on Learn Swedish with Fexingo. Lucas: Hej då!
