- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop so Do you happen to have
- 0:31goals for your character? I know weird question to start
- 0:34off the day. However, we do have goals for
- 0:37everything else that we're working on.
- 0:39I know most of you, if you're listening to this, you probably
- 0:41have goals that you've set forth for the year.
- 0:43You know, if you want to make a hundred thousand dollars, buy a
- 0:46house, get a new car, you know, start a real estate team, go
- 0:52ahead and create a new business you know build out whatever your
- 0:56your current Ideal World is you want to grow it because that's
- 1:00That's what we're taught to do. We're taught to have goals, so
- 1:02we can achieve them and that's an excellent foundation, and and
- 1:07thing to work towards. In fact, a big chunk of my
- 1:10business is built around that for people.
- 1:12Helping them figure all that stuff out and how to get there.
- 1:15But I'm talking about goals for your character, things that you
- 1:20want to build into yourself as a person things that you want to
- 1:25cultivate as a as a better human being as more of what you've
- 1:31always thought you wanted to be like, do you want to be more
- 1:35generous? Do you want to be philanthropic?
- 1:37Do you want to be more creative? Do you want to write or paint?
- 1:41Do you want to have parts of yourself?
- 1:45That you're just like, okay, I know that I'm not patient, I
- 1:49want to build patients into myself, do I want to be more
- 1:53creative in the sense that, you know, there's a part of me
- 1:56that's always wanted to write a book, but I don't feel creative.
- 1:59So I'm going to work on being creative.
- 2:01I'm talking about those little pieces of just personality, that
- 2:08have probably been underdeveloped, because you're
- 2:11so busy, working on the external world.
- 2:13You forget to work on the internal world, Old.
- 2:15Now, why is this so important? Well, it's very hard to create
- 2:19the external world. If you are not working on the
- 2:22internal world and the internal world is by far, one of the most
- 2:27difficult places to work on. So we will sit there and say,
- 2:30okay, I'm going to work on the external world because that
- 2:32seems a little bit easier. Well, I have news for you if you
- 2:36don't work on the internal world you can't get what you want on
- 2:39the external world. It's like foundational pieces.
- 2:44It's like building a house. Sandy would never sit and build
- 2:47a house on Sand. Although hundreds of years ago,
- 2:49they did because they didn't understand the foundation
- 2:51process and that sand shifts. So, if you don't always work on
- 2:56your character, you will find that it shifts, you will find
- 3:01that you become cynical. You will find that the world
- 3:04will wear you down and that you have to really cultivate the
- 3:08identity and the personality that you desire.
- 3:12And that's what this is about making that Purposeful.
- 3:17Point in your life. Instead of just saying, hey, you
- 3:20know what? I am who I am because that's not
- 3:23true. Sure, we have certain aspects of
- 3:26our personality that are there, but we don't have to keep any of
- 3:29those. If we don't want them, we can
- 3:31change everything about ourselves.
- 3:33If we choose to, that's the beautiful thing about being a
- 3:36human being. And having the ability to
- 3:39choose, it's one of the greatest gifts that we have been given
- 3:44Choice. We can figure it out.
- 3:46We can sit there and listen to ourselves.
- 3:48We can dig in and say, you know, I need to work on this.
- 3:52Now I will tell you when I first got introduced to this, I
- 3:55recognized that one of my biggest challenges was that I
- 3:59was very impatient. I did not have patience.
- 4:03I still I won't say that. I have zero patience now but I
- 4:07will say that I am always challenged with being impatient
- 4:10and I have to pull myself back and I think now it's the biggest
- 4:14That I've been given where I used to think it was the biggest
- 4:17pain in the ass, quite honestly, that when I was presented to me,
- 4:21that I'm not patient like what do you mean?
- 4:22I'm not patient. Well, now, I realize, I was
- 4:25totally not patient and having to slow down and be patient has
- 4:31taught me more than anything that I ever learned in school.
- 4:35It really truly has been the one of the biggest gifts yet, it
- 4:39was, it is the hardest thing that I deal with, because I do
- 4:43have this desire to just boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,
- 4:46boom. It's like rapid fire.
- 4:48Making things happen and I have to slow down with those around
- 4:51me. I have to listen, I have to
- 4:54develop the skills of really listening, especially in my
- 4:58field of coaching. That one thing that seemed to be
- 5:02such a character flaw has brought me so many gifts when I
- 5:07recognized it and I decided I wanted to change it.
- 5:10Now if I hadn't done that it would have just continued to
- 5:13bring me pain. But instead I made that decision
- 5:16that I wanted to work on this, I wanted to be able to shift it.
- 5:20And once I did, I was able to really hone in and focus on it.
- 5:25So I'm going to ask you to look and see and really kind of make
- 5:31that list of things. What are your character goals?
- 5:34What are the things that you want to add into yourself?
- 5:36What are the things that you know, you want to cultivate you
- 5:40want to work on? You want to bring to light and
- 5:44Put them on a piece of paper, make a plan for how you're going
- 5:47to do it as far as every day every day saying.
- 5:50Okay. You know, here's how I'm going
- 5:52to show up and be patient today, here are the little things that
- 5:55I can do, you know I have a little recipe for myself where
- 5:59I'm like, okay the moment I feel myself becoming impatient I say.
- 6:03Nope, that's the moment I have to sit and pause.
- 6:05I have to go by myself, even if I have to take myself out and
- 6:08just walk in the bathroom and shut the door.
- 6:09I'll say kind of take a deep breath.
- 6:12Bring myself back to Center. Okay, now I can walk out and
- 6:15deal with it because I can feel the impatience steal the wheel
- 6:19of that bus and off we go. So figure out where you're going
- 6:23with it, start working on it and remember, this is a practice,
- 6:26this is not a destination. You'll be doing it forever.
- 6:29So get good at that practice and I will see you soon.
- 6:32Have a great day. My friends.
- 6:33Bye.
