Last time we spoke about Operation Fall Blau I. On June 28th, 1942, the Germans launched Fall Blau with overwhelming force. The 48th Panzer Corps, spearheaded by the Grossdeutschland Division and 24th Panzer Division, smashed through the Soviet 160th and 212th Rifle Divisions, splitting the junction between the Soviet 13th and 40th Armies. German fighters seized air superiority while Luftwaffe bombers ranged deep into Soviet territory. The Soviets scrambled to respond.
