- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's your person, Michelle probably here again like we
- 0:04Speaker 1: do to talk about Lane. I don't really have much
- 0:08Speaker 1: in the way of news to share with you. I
- 0:10Speaker 1: don't think at least. I mean, I could tell you
- 0:13Speaker 1: that the last episode of reezero was really good. I mean,
- 0:16Speaker 1: not the one from yesterday for you if you're listening
- 0:19Speaker 1: on Thursday, but the one from the week before and
- 0:22Speaker 1: the one from yesterday that I haven't seen yet because
- 0:25Speaker 1: it's Sunday, so that's in the future even though it's
- 0:28Speaker 1: your past. If you're listening to This is the last
- 0:31Speaker 1: episode before it takes a break I think into like August,
- 0:35Speaker 1: so it's like a weird split core with like not
- 0:38Speaker 1: really a split corp. It's like a consecutive core but
- 0:42Speaker 1: missing part of it.
- 0:43Speaker 2: I guess.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I don't really know, so that might be really interesting.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Hopefully that was good if you watched it already. If not,
- 0:50Speaker 1: that's fine. You don't have to watch it, or you
- 0:53Speaker 1: can watch it if you want whatever. Everything else, I
- 0:56Speaker 1: don't know what's going on.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Oh.
- 0:58Speaker 1: I did start watching Yo know Sugai, which in English
- 1:02Speaker 1: is I guess demons are demons of the shadow realm.
- 1:05Speaker 1: I feel like I can pronounce that better in Japanese
- 1:07Speaker 1: than I can in English, and that doesn't make me
- 1:09Speaker 1: feel good. Well, it makes me feel really good. I'm
- 1:11Speaker 1: not sure. Anyway, it's pretty good. I think I've watched
- 1:15Speaker 1: maybe four or three or four episodes. I know that
- 1:18Speaker 1: people really excited about it because it's by the Mangca
- 1:21Speaker 1: of Full Metal Alchemist, and everyone really likes Full Metal
- 1:25Speaker 1: Alchemist except for me. Not that I dislike it. I've
- 1:28Speaker 1: just never been able to get into it, but.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty okay.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I might watch more.
- 1:33Speaker 2: I don't really know.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Nothing is really capturing my interest right now in it.
- 1:37Speaker 1: It's not bad, though, so yeah, I just figured I
- 1:40Speaker 1: might as well tell you about that. So yep, but
- 1:42Speaker 1: let's just get into Lane, so I don't try to
- 1:45Speaker 1: tell you that I've had a really bad week and
- 1:48Speaker 1: I'm sad, so it's not worth it. You don't need
- 1:51Speaker 1: to know anyway.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Lane.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Episode nine is called Protocol, which I guess actually makes
- 1:58Speaker 1: perfect sense for this episode. Yay. So if you remember
- 2:02Speaker 1: from the last episode, we ended it with Lane just
- 2:05Speaker 1: kind of being super upset and kind of freaked out
- 2:08Speaker 1: that maybe there's more than one Lane in the world
- 2:11Speaker 1: and her just basically asking Nobby to tell her that
- 2:14Speaker 1: she's the only lane, which is really really frightening and bad.
- 2:19Speaker 1: So obviously we don't start there because we never start
- 2:22Speaker 1: where we end in lane, but we start basically the
- 2:26Speaker 1: same way we've been starting, so you know, all the
- 2:29Speaker 1: normal things which I'm not even gonna go through, including
- 2:31Speaker 1: the opening, but I will say present day, present time.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Haha.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it's still not a good laugh. I'm trying. I'm
- 2:39Speaker 1: really really trying. Anyway, we have all the normal shit
- 2:43Speaker 1: with the buildings and stuff, and a voice says, you see,
- 2:47Speaker 1: if you really want to rid yourself of all the suffering,
- 2:50Speaker 1: you should believe that there's a God. Whether or not
- 2:53Speaker 1: you truly think he exists, you could be sure that
- 2:56Speaker 1: God is always by your side. Then we get the
- 2:58Speaker 1: title card product All Layers zero nine. I was trying
- 3:02Speaker 1: to see what was in the background here since I
- 3:04Speaker 1: saw that make Me Sad, make Me Feel I think
- 3:07Speaker 1: last time, and I realized that it's probably always been
- 3:10Speaker 1: in the background and I just never caught it because
- 3:12Speaker 1: I couldn't get all the words in this one.
- 3:14Speaker 2: But I did see make Me Feel.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Again, so yeah, sorry I didn't catch that earlier, but
- 3:23Speaker 1: I hope make Me Sad was there too, because that's cool.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I like having that kind of as the accompaniment for
- 3:28Speaker 1: the title card. So anyway, before I continue, I should
- 3:32Speaker 1: say this episode is a lot and I don't mean
- 3:36Speaker 1: it's emotionally upsetting or violent. I mean there's just a
- 3:40Speaker 1: lot of information just shoved into this episode in a
- 3:43Speaker 1: way that I don't think I like very much, but
- 3:46Speaker 1: I guess it's important. It's done real, real weird in
- 3:49Speaker 1: my opinion, So it's just gonna be really information dense,
- 3:53Speaker 1: and I'm probably gonna stop a bunch of times to
- 3:55Speaker 1: explain things more and go on like Wikipedia and shit,
- 3:58Speaker 1: So be aware that this is going to be a
- 4:01Speaker 1: typical I guess. Anyway, we have this like grainy pinkish footage,
- 4:08Speaker 1: like I couldn't tell what it was because it's that grainy,
- 4:11Speaker 1: but we're like moving across like terrain. It looks kind
- 4:14Speaker 1: of like a field, I guess, and it looks like
- 4:18Speaker 1: maybe we are like above the fields, kind of like
- 4:21Speaker 1: looking down but not too high up, almost like a
- 4:24Speaker 1: drone shot. But yeah, it's not obviously, And I also
- 4:29Speaker 1: just want to point out that this is totally like
- 4:32Speaker 1: real footage. It's not animated. It's like live action footage
- 4:36Speaker 1: of a field that's very grainy. Anyway, we have a
- 4:40Speaker 1: voice in English, say Neil Armstrong on the porch at
- 4:44Speaker 1: one hundred and nine hours, at nineteen minutes, and then
- 4:46Speaker 1: we have a voice over like narrator dude in Japanese say,
- 4:52Speaker 1: on July fourth, nineteen forty seven, a strange aircraft crashed
- 4:56Speaker 1: in the desert of New Mexico. We're seeing rock and shit.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I guess this is a desert, but again it's so grainy,
- 5:03Speaker 1: I'm not really sure. The narrator continues, the area was
- 5:07Speaker 1: contained once by government agents. We now see what I
- 5:11Speaker 1: think is like a ship sticking up sort of out
- 5:16Speaker 1: of the ground, and people are like on a ridge
- 5:18Speaker 1: behind it and stuff, like a bunch of people. I
- 5:20Speaker 1: assume these are the government officials, the man continues. What
- 5:25Speaker 1: it actually was has yet to be proven conclusively. For now,
- 5:28Speaker 1: conjecture has become fact and rumor has become history. Interesting,
- 5:32Speaker 1: So obviously we're talking about Roswell. So I'm not going
- 5:35Speaker 1: to go into the Roswell crash because I'm sure then
- 5:38Speaker 1: you know about it. It was a big deal, but
- 5:42Speaker 1: super weird to just put it there. So are we
- 5:45Speaker 1: doing aliens anyway. Now we see telephone poles and you know,
- 5:50Speaker 1: wires and stuff humming on a bright yellow sky. We're
- 5:54Speaker 1: kind of seeing like different parts of them as they
- 5:56Speaker 1: just kind of hum and hum kind of for pad,
- 6:00Speaker 1: I think. And then we see them framed between two
- 6:04Speaker 1: silhouettes of Lane stuffed animals that are sitting in the window.
- 6:08Speaker 1: We see that Lane is sitting on her futon in
- 6:10Speaker 1: her bare onesie against the wall, just kind of slumped over.
- 6:14Speaker 1: She's looking, I guess, at the futon or the floor,
- 6:17Speaker 1: and she just doesn't look like she's doing so good.
- 6:21Speaker 1: We cut two images we have already seen of the
- 6:23Speaker 1: coolant bubbling and devices connected to each other with like
- 6:28Speaker 1: lights on and stuff. Then we get a close up
- 6:30Speaker 1: of Lane's like really distraught expression. Now we go to
- 6:34Speaker 1: navvies like home screen, like swirling blue shit and whatever,
- 6:38Speaker 1: and then to like the dark cable strewn floor and
- 6:43Speaker 1: we hear the door creak and like a kind of
- 6:46Speaker 1: swath of lights cuts across it. We go to more
- 6:49Speaker 1: coolant in like tubes and stuff, and then we see
- 6:54Speaker 1: the water kind of ripple across the floor in the
- 6:57Speaker 1: direction of the cracked open door. Yeah, I think I
- 7:02Speaker 1: might have forgotten that there was water all over the
- 7:05Speaker 1: place still because we haven't really heard it slashing around
- 7:08Speaker 1: or seen it in a couple episodes. But I know
- 7:11Speaker 1: I already talked about like how that's not possible and
- 7:14Speaker 1: how it would just be leaking through the ceiling of
- 7:17Speaker 1: the first floor. But also by this point, it's just
- 7:20Speaker 1: gonna be a lot of mold, so much mold that
- 7:24Speaker 1: it's gonna be gross. I mean, really, really really gross.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Assuming this house was built in the age of dry wall,
- 7:32Speaker 1: they're gonna have to tear all of it out because
- 7:35Speaker 1: it's just full of mold. Ugh. And not all mold
- 7:39Speaker 1: is gonna hurt you in any way, even if it's black.
- 7:42Speaker 1: That doesn't mean it is the black mold. But no,
- 7:46Speaker 1: it's not a good idea to just have your floor
- 7:49Speaker 1: and the probably the bottom of your walls just continuously
- 7:52Speaker 1: like soaking in moisture. Gross. I wish so much that
- 7:58Speaker 1: we saw mold for some reason. It would just like
- 8:01Speaker 1: really like make me happy if there was like mold
- 8:04Speaker 1: on her walls.
- 8:05Speaker 2: It would really ground it for me.
- 8:07Speaker 1: And I know that's insane, and I'm glad it's not
- 8:09Speaker 1: evident that she's living in.
- 8:11Speaker 2: This mold filled, you know, space.
- 8:15Speaker 1: But it should be. Maybe that's why she's having so
- 8:19Speaker 1: many weird problems.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Huh.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, I just stopped really briefly and was like,
- 8:26Speaker 1: can bold cause hallucinations? It totally can, especially the black
- 8:31Speaker 1: mold that I was just talking about. And maybe if
- 8:34Speaker 1: I feel like it, I'll I'll get more into that
- 8:36Speaker 1: at some other time and have this whole big theory
- 8:38Speaker 1: about how all of Lane is just her.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Being exposed to mold.
- 8:42Speaker 1: But I don't think that's what I'm supposed to read into.
- 8:45Speaker 1: So I'm gonna stop bothering you about this and continue
- 8:47Speaker 1: with the episode anyway. Again, water has rippled across the floor,
- 8:52Speaker 1: gross coming from the direction of the door. Lane stirs
- 8:56Speaker 1: because obviously she heard this, and then we're seeing more
- 8:59Speaker 1: machinery and stuff, and she says, who's there. She kind
- 9:03Speaker 1: of looks over to the side and hears a splash.
- 9:06Speaker 1: We see steam coming out of the cooling system. Laying
- 9:09Speaker 1: kind of straightens up, and we hear the water splash again,
- 9:13Speaker 1: and she's like, staring, but I don't know what you're
- 9:15Speaker 1: staring at. I think she probably can't see the door
- 9:18Speaker 1: from where she is because of all the computer stuff.
- 9:20Speaker 1: So she kind of like turns and crawls away to
- 9:24Speaker 1: the right, and I was like, why is she crawling
- 9:25Speaker 1: Because she's on her futon, so I guess she's not
- 9:27Speaker 1: gonna stand on it. And we see lots of wearing
- 9:30Speaker 1: computer stuff again, and now like she's still on her futon,
- 9:34Speaker 1: but she's got a better view of the door and
- 9:36Speaker 1: she can see the silhouette of a small person like
- 9:38Speaker 1: standing in her doorway. We don't have really good definition
- 9:41Speaker 1: of this person, by the way, anyway, her eyes widened
- 9:44Speaker 1: and she gasps because no one in her family is
- 9:46Speaker 1: shorter than her. We're still looking at this person from
- 9:49Speaker 1: far away, but I don't think that the proportions make sense.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Like they have like really long arms, and their head
- 9:57Speaker 1: looks pretty big, and I could tell that they're wearing
- 10:00Speaker 1: some sort of shirt that has some red in it,
- 10:02Speaker 1: but like not more than that, but it just doesn't
- 10:05Speaker 1: look right. Lane takes some shaky breaths, and then we
- 10:08Speaker 1: get a closer shot of this person and it is
- 10:10Speaker 1: totally like an alien, just one of those standard gray
- 10:15Speaker 1: aliens with the big head and the really large eyes,
- 10:19Speaker 1: and it's in a red and green sweater like like
- 10:23Speaker 1: a Freddy sweater basically from Nightmare on Elm Street for
- 10:26Speaker 1: some reason, which I think is weird. But in an
- 10:29Speaker 1: earlier episode there was one of the people I guess
- 10:32Speaker 1: online one of the voices that we were hearing was
- 10:35Speaker 1: talking about a little like kid in a red and
- 10:38Speaker 1: green sweater watching people while they sleep. So this is
- 10:42Speaker 1: a reference to earlier stuff. I just don't know why
- 10:44Speaker 1: they made it a red and green sweater, but hey,
- 10:48Speaker 1: maybe the alien just really really likes Nightmare on Elm Street.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Anyway, this alien that standing in her doorway smiles at
- 10:58Speaker 1: her and then stands there for a while and just
- 11:01Speaker 1: fades away. Yeah, Layne slumps back over and kind of
- 11:05Speaker 1: plos her knees and then she just kind of looks.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Totally out of it.
- 11:09Speaker 1: I mean, I would be scared, but maybe she feels
- 11:12Speaker 1: like she's losing her mind a little, especially since it
- 11:14Speaker 1: was there and then it just disappeared, so I guess
- 11:16Speaker 1: I get it. And then we just kind of fades
- 11:18Speaker 1: to black and then we go back to that weird shit. Anyway,
- 11:22Speaker 1: we see very grainy images again. This time it's like
- 11:26Speaker 1: a guy's face again. It's like a real person, not animated,
- 11:30Speaker 1: not drawn within like a Manila envelope superimposed over it,
- 11:36Speaker 1: and the narrator says, in nineteen eighty four, an envelope
- 11:39Speaker 1: arrived at the home of TV producer Jamie Shandera. We
- 11:42Speaker 1: zoom in on the envelope and it's got like something
- 11:45Speaker 1: sticking out of it. It looks like maybe a little
- 11:47Speaker 1: roll of film. The narrator continues. The envelope from an
- 11:51Speaker 1: anonymous source contained a roll of undeveloped film. Now we
- 11:55Speaker 1: see some grainy, only slightly legible paper like top secret
- 12:00Speaker 1: at the top. The man continues, the film contained what
- 12:04Speaker 1: has come to be known as the MJ twelve document.
- 12:07Speaker 1: We zoom in on the paper and we can see
- 12:10Speaker 1: now that it says top secret magic eyes only sure,
- 12:16Speaker 1: and then also briefing document Operation Majestic twelve. Yeah. We
- 12:21Speaker 1: fade out to a pixelated kind of black screen with
- 12:25Speaker 1: like a grainy black and white photo of some guy
- 12:28Speaker 1: floating on top of it, and then the name doctor
- 12:30Speaker 1: Lloyd Berkner. There's a bunch of ellegible words scrolling up
- 12:35Speaker 1: on the screen, and the narrator continues, Rosco hillen coedter
- 12:41Speaker 1: Hlin Coder, I don't know. We see a new guy
- 12:44Speaker 1: on the screen like a new picture of a guy.
- 12:47Speaker 1: And then it says doctor debt lev Bronc. The voice continues,
- 12:51Speaker 1: lead of the CIA at the time of the Roswell
- 12:54Speaker 1: incident was at the top of the list of the
- 12:57Speaker 1: twelve members. Fuck, we now see a bunch more faces.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna just kind of shove them all together so
- 13:03Speaker 1: the narrative makes more sense anyway. We see James Forrestal
- 13:07Speaker 1: Gordon Gray, Admiral Roscoe, doctor Jerome Huntsaker, and doctor Donald H. Menzel,
- 13:16Speaker 1: and all the pictures and names. When they come in,
- 13:19Speaker 1: they kind of float around and then they kind of
- 13:20Speaker 1: get smaller, and eventually they go and they just rest
- 13:23Speaker 1: in some spot on the screen. The pictures, though names
- 13:26Speaker 1: eventually fade out. I'm pretty sure, so I think all
- 13:29Speaker 1: of this is just being done in flash. It looks
- 13:32Speaker 1: like flash animation, which is totally fine, but this is
- 13:35Speaker 1: probably saving a bunch on animation budget. Anyway, the narrator continues.
- 13:40Speaker 1: It stated that these men signed a secret treaty with
- 13:43Speaker 1: extraterrestrials from the spacecraft as a special organization answerable only
- 13:48Speaker 1: to the presidents. Okay, sure, it's now accepted that President
- 13:52Speaker 1: Truman's signature, which we see at the top of all
- 13:55Speaker 1: of this was in fact a forgery copied carefully from
- 13:58Speaker 1: another document without us. Not named as a member of
- 14:01Speaker 1: the MJ twelve document was an MIT professor, head of
- 14:05Speaker 1: the Department of Electrical Engineering, Thenovar Bush. We see that guy.
- 14:10Speaker 1: His picture takes over the middle of the screen, and
- 14:13Speaker 1: we also have a bunch of other names and pictures
- 14:15Speaker 1: coming up. General Robert Montague, Walter P. Smith, Admiral Sidney Sowers,
- 14:22Speaker 1: Lieutenant General Nathan Twinning, General Hoyt Vandenberg, and doctor van
- 14:30Speaker 1: Var Bush, which we just saw a picture of as well.
- 14:33Speaker 1: And that's it before we go back to lane. So
- 14:37Speaker 1: that was a little weird. So let me read do
- 14:40Speaker 1: you guys want to hear about this? Because I don't
- 14:41Speaker 1: know shit. So I'll read a little bit of the
- 14:44Speaker 1: history of this from a Wikipedia and yeah, I don't know.
- 14:49Speaker 1: If you don't want to listen, I'm sorry anyway. On
- 14:52Speaker 1: May thirty first, nineteen eighty seven, it was widely reported
- 14:57Speaker 1: that a British uaphoologist, Timothy Good, had claimed to be
- 15:00Speaker 1: in possession of nineteen fifties era UFO documents. The documents
- 15:04Speaker 1: reported to reveal a secret committee of twelve supposedly formed
- 15:09Speaker 1: in nineteen forty seven by executive order of President Harry S. Truman,
- 15:13Speaker 1: and explain how the crash of an alien spacecraft at
- 15:16Speaker 1: Roswell in nineteen forty seven had been concealed, how the
- 15:20Speaker 1: recovery alien technology could be exploited, and how the US
- 15:24Speaker 1: should engage with extra terrestrial life in the future. According
- 15:27Speaker 1: to uphoologist William L. Moore, his friend Los Angeles television
- 15:32Speaker 1: writer producer James Shendera received documents that appeared to be
- 15:37Speaker 1: briefing papers describing Operation Majestic twelve in mid December nineteen
- 15:41Speaker 1: eighty four. The documents were found on an undeveloped role
- 15:44Speaker 1: of thirty five millimeter film in a brown paper package
- 15:48Speaker 1: and had been dropped through Shandera's mail slot. I don't
- 15:52Speaker 1: have a mail slot, and I think they're cool. The
- 15:54Speaker 1: package bore no additional information other than in New Mexico.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Postmark, which is kind of weird.
- 16:00Speaker 1: When developed, the role of film revealed. The Truman Forestall Memo,
- 16:06Speaker 1: a top secret memorandum from President Truman to defend Secretary
- 16:10Speaker 1: James Forstall, dated September twenty fourth, nineteen forty seven, authorizing
- 16:15Speaker 1: him and doctor Van var Bush to proceed with operation
- 16:19Speaker 1: in Madestic twelve and the Eisenhower Briefing Document, a seven
- 16:24Speaker 1: page top secret eyes only Majestic twelve document used to
- 16:28Speaker 1: brief President elect Eisenhower, dated November eighteenth, nineteen fifty two.
- 16:32Speaker 1: That's going to be enough. Basically, that's the gist of it,
- 16:35Speaker 1: and it's basically been debunked as far as we can tell.
- 16:39Speaker 2: But who knows.
- 16:40Speaker 1: You never know. Right anyway, back to Lane, She is
- 16:44Speaker 1: in her room at her computer, and we've got a
- 16:47Speaker 1: sound of mechanical worrying, and she says, connect to the wired.
- 16:52Speaker 1: We see nab screen doing some things and Lean closes
- 16:55Speaker 1: her eyes. We cut to some like blue and green
- 16:57Speaker 1: on a screen that like almost looks like maybe it's
- 16:59Speaker 1: supposed to be, and then it goes black. We now
- 17:02Speaker 1: fade into a dark purple and black place with like
- 17:05Speaker 1: human forms. They're kind of silhouettes filled with like black
- 17:09Speaker 1: and white static. And each of them, because there's a
- 17:12Speaker 1: bunch of them, has one normal part of them, like
- 17:15Speaker 1: one of them has lips that look like lips, and
- 17:18Speaker 1: one of them has an eye, and one of them
- 17:20Speaker 1: has an arm, but the rest of them is just
- 17:22Speaker 1: an amorphous person like static blob, which is actually kind
- 17:27Speaker 1: of cool. One of them slides into view, like from
- 17:31Speaker 1: the right side of the screen, pretty close up, and
- 17:34Speaker 1: it has a normal looking eye, and another that's even
- 17:37Speaker 1: closer slides in on the left side with a normal
- 17:40Speaker 1: looking ear. We cut to a close up of Lane
- 17:42Speaker 1: with her eyes closed and she says, how could I
- 17:46Speaker 1: do it? She opens her eyes turns something that did
- 17:50Speaker 1: happen into something that didn't. Oh my god, I feel
- 17:53Speaker 1: like this is the first time we've had any continuity
- 17:55Speaker 1: in the show, where like, something that mattered in the
- 17:58Speaker 1: last episode still matters in this episode. That's not true,
- 18:01Speaker 1: but it's nice to see like a plot through line.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Yay.
- 18:05Speaker 1: We hear a guy say are you Lane? I see
- 18:08Speaker 1: I see. Lane's eye is kind of shaking and she's like,
- 18:11Speaker 1: wait a minute, I don't remember meeting you, so how
- 18:14Speaker 1: is it you know me? We get a close up
- 18:16Speaker 1: of the amorphous blob person that has the eye and
- 18:20Speaker 1: it says it's very simple, the flow of information doesn't
- 18:23Speaker 1: always go both ways. We now see that a bunch
- 18:26Speaker 1: of these people are kind of surrounding Lane, and the
- 18:29Speaker 1: eye person continues. You see since the moment of the
- 18:32Speaker 1: wired's creation. You've always been here here, you are always
- 18:36Speaker 1: free to do as you please. Lane's like, but I'm not.
- 18:39Speaker 1: I'm trying to tell you that's not me. A guy
- 18:42Speaker 1: with one ear says, I suppose, Well, how long have
- 18:47Speaker 1: you been here? Then Lane looks over at him, kind
- 18:50Speaker 1: of frustrated, and the ear guy continues, at least we
- 18:54Speaker 1: couldn't have been here since this world was created, now,
- 18:56Speaker 1: could we? But it'd be impossible. The eye person says,
- 19:00Speaker 1: that's got nothing to do with it. He turns to Lane,
- 19:03Speaker 1: and then I see that a actually has two eyes.
- 19:05Speaker 1: I guess I was only seeing part of his face
- 19:07Speaker 1: before whatever. He continues, if a being is remembered, that
- 19:11Speaker 1: proves it's part of the record. The truth can't be
- 19:14Speaker 1: measured in time and space. The arm person puts their
- 19:17Speaker 1: hand on their hip and says that's absolutely preposterous. Lane
- 19:21Speaker 1: looks over, still kind of pissed, and the arm person continues,
- 19:24Speaker 1: how old do you think this lame girl is?
- 19:26Speaker 2: Anyway?
- 19:27Speaker 1: It points at her. I think she's still a kid.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Lane's like, let's not worry about me. Okay, okay, I
- 19:33Speaker 1: mean I thought that was the whole point. But sure
- 19:36Speaker 1: at that they all just fade away, and she's just
- 19:39Speaker 1: standing there for a while, looking pretty confused, until eventually
- 19:43Speaker 1: she just looks real fucking pissed off, and we fade out.
- 19:47Speaker 1: We now see a grainy black and white photo of
- 19:49Speaker 1: a guy, like a real guy, not a drawing, and
- 19:53Speaker 1: the narrator says, in nineteen forty five, vanovar Bush developed
- 19:58Speaker 1: a memory expansion concept. Okay, so this was two years
- 20:02Speaker 1: before Roswell. Okay, what I assume is the memes appears
- 20:07Speaker 1: in like whites over one of the pictures, the narrator continues.
- 20:12Speaker 1: It was a system where information recorded on microfilm was
- 20:15Speaker 1: projected directly onto a translucent screen. We see a machine
- 20:20Speaker 1: with like two little tablet shaped screens on top, I guess,
- 20:25Speaker 1: and then lots of weird scrolling texts that I can't
- 20:29Speaker 1: read because like it's literally impossible to the narrator continues.
- 20:34Speaker 1: What he envisioned was the compression and rapid access of information.
- 20:38Speaker 1: We're seeing like lots of pictures of all of this
- 20:40Speaker 1: stuff now in him. Even before the advent of computers,
- 20:44Speaker 1: vanavar Bush had already created the basis for our current
- 20:47Speaker 1: multimedia explosion. While at the same time leading the Manhattan
- 20:52Speaker 1: Project at a bomb experiments. Oh okay, he's a really
- 20:58Speaker 1: prolific scientist. I guess yes, So, I guess that is
- 21:02Speaker 1: the basis also of the Internet, sort of this compression
- 21:06Speaker 1: of information. Let's see, so a little bit more about memics.
- 21:11Speaker 1: That's the portmanteau of memory and index. It's a hypothetical
- 21:17Speaker 1: electro mechanical device for interacting with microfilm documents. It was
- 21:21Speaker 1: described in the nineteen forty five article as we may think,
- 21:25Speaker 1: he envisioned a world where individuals could compress and store
- 21:29Speaker 1: all their books, records, and communications quote mechanized so that
- 21:33Speaker 1: it could be consulted with exceeding speed and flexibility end quote.
- 21:38Speaker 1: The individual was supposed to use memics as an automatic
- 21:41Speaker 1: personal filing system, making memics end quote enlarged intimate supplement
- 21:46Speaker 1: to his memory unquote. Okay, so it sounds like a
- 21:51Speaker 1: precursor to a computer, and it apparently influenced the development
- 21:55Speaker 1: of early hypertexts. So that's kind of cool. I guess weird, folks,
- 22:00Speaker 1: I hope this is going okay. Anyway, We fade out
- 22:04Speaker 1: and then fade into a spinning disco ball and a
- 22:09Speaker 1: spotlight moving across the dance floor, I guess, and we
- 22:12Speaker 1: see that DJ dude that's name is JJ, and he
- 22:16Speaker 1: looks up and he's like huh and he whistles. Lane
- 22:20Speaker 1: is standing across the club and looks over and he
- 22:23Speaker 1: gestures at her, like to come over. She walks over
- 22:26Speaker 1: to him and he grabs something from behind the counter.
- 22:29Speaker 1: He pulls out this Manila envelope, which we just haven't
- 22:32Speaker 1: a lot of these today and in the show, and
- 22:34Speaker 1: he says, you forgot this. Lane's like what. He holds
- 22:39Speaker 1: the envelope a out to her and says, this you
- 22:41Speaker 1: left on the floor yesterday. Lane's kind of looks at it,
- 22:44Speaker 1: and JJ continues if you don't need it, I'll throw
- 22:47Speaker 1: it out. Lane's like, are you sure it was me
- 22:49Speaker 1: that left it here? JJ says, yeah, that's what I'm
- 22:53Speaker 1: trying to say. Lane takes it and she empties it
- 22:56Speaker 1: into her hand and it's a microchip. She stares down
- 22:59Speaker 1: at it and we see that it has the symbol
- 23:01Speaker 1: of the Knights on it. Yay or bad, I'm not sure.
- 23:07Speaker 1: All right, back to lots of information dumps. We see
- 23:10Speaker 1: a black and white picture of a guy that's you know,
- 23:13Speaker 1: really grainy, and also the name John C. Lily over it,
- 23:18Speaker 1: and the narrator says, conducting sensory deprivation experiments using a
- 23:23Speaker 1: variety of techniques. We see some guys talking near some
- 23:26Speaker 1: TVs and such. The narrator continues, such as Native American
- 23:30Speaker 1: narcotics and isolation tanks to probe the depth of human unconscious.
- 23:35Speaker 1: We see another image of the guy John C. Lily
- 23:37Speaker 1: believes his experiments connected him to cosmic entities by way
- 23:40Speaker 1: of a broad based communication network. Sure, we now see
- 23:44Speaker 1: this weird red morphing pattern that kind of looks like Native.
- 23:47Speaker 2: American art on it. I don't really know.
- 23:50Speaker 1: And then I like translucent kind of alien, you know,
- 23:54Speaker 1: with the big head kind of just shoots over the
- 23:57Speaker 1: image and goes out the top.
- 23:59Speaker 2: It's weird.
- 24:00Speaker 1: The narrator continues. Lily dub the beings that were guiding
- 24:03Speaker 1: him as ECCO Earth Coincidence Control Office. Now we cut
- 24:08Speaker 1: to what I think is a deprivation tank, but I'm
- 24:10Speaker 1: not sure, and zoom was in on the tank. Until
- 24:14Speaker 1: we're just like in water and there's just like dolphins
- 24:17Speaker 1: swimming in the water. Okay, Sure, the narrator continues. Soon
- 24:22Speaker 1: after Lily began to work on communication with dolphins. These
- 24:25Speaker 1: dolphins are incredible creatures which are able to conduct an
- 24:29Speaker 1: array of wide range networking exercises via ultrasonic waves. Okay,
- 24:34Speaker 1: so now we know about John C. Lily a little.
- 24:37Speaker 1: They said Native American narcotics. I'm not really sure that
- 24:41Speaker 1: that's the right way to put that. I mean it basically,
- 24:43Speaker 1: he was taking like hallucinogenic drugs and LSD and shit.
- 24:48Speaker 1: So I guess he had some trips and then thought
- 24:52Speaker 1: that beings were talking to him. I think there's some
- 24:55Speaker 1: information about him that's kind of interesting. Yeah, this was
- 24:58Speaker 1: in nineteen seventy four when he decided that the ECCO existed.
- 25:04Speaker 1: I also wanted to note, like he wrote, like non
- 25:07Speaker 1: conditions that needed to be followed by people if they
- 25:10Speaker 1: wanted to experience their own coincidence in their lives, which
- 25:12Speaker 1: I guess you know, like the Cosmic Coincidence Control Center
- 25:15Speaker 1: thing or the Earth Coincidence Control Center, so here they are.
- 25:21Speaker 1: You must no assume simulate our existence in ECCO. You
- 25:25Speaker 1: must be willing to accept our responsibility for control over
- 25:28Speaker 1: your coincidences. I don't know what's going on. You must
- 25:32Speaker 1: exert your best capabilities for survival programs and use your
- 25:36Speaker 1: own development. As an advancing advanced member of ecco's Earthside
- 25:41Speaker 1: Core of Controlled Coincidence Workers, you were expected to use
- 25:45Speaker 1: your best intelligence in this service.
- 25:48Speaker 2: What is happening?
- 25:49Speaker 1: You were expected to expect the unexpected every minute, every
- 25:53Speaker 1: hour of every day, and every night. You must be
- 25:57Speaker 1: able to maintain conscious thinking reasoning no matter what events
- 26:01Speaker 1: we arrange to happen to you, what is happening? Some
- 26:04Speaker 1: of these events will seem cataclysmic, catastrophic, and overwhelming. Remember
- 26:10Speaker 1: to stay aware no matter what happens apparently happens to you.
- 26:13Speaker 1: You are in our training program for life. There is
- 26:16Speaker 1: no escape from it. We not you control the long
- 26:19Speaker 1: term coincidences. You not, We control the shorter term coincidences
- 26:24Speaker 1: by your own efforts. Your major mission on Earth is
- 26:27Speaker 1: to discover or create that which we do to control
- 26:30Speaker 1: the long term coincidence patterns. You are being trained on
- 26:34Speaker 1: Earth to do this job. When your mission on planet
- 26:37Speaker 1: Earth is completed, you will no longer be required to
- 26:40Speaker 1: remain return there. Remember the motto passed to us from
- 26:44Speaker 1: GCC via SSCU, Huh. Cosmic love is absolutely ruthless and
- 26:51Speaker 1: highly indifferent. It teaches its lessons, whether you like dislike
- 26:55Speaker 1: them or not. Okay, so now you know that, I guess. Yeah,
- 27:03Speaker 1: he did research with dolphins. I believe he actually developed Yeah,
- 27:08Speaker 1: he developed the isolation tank, which is pretty cool.
- 27:12Speaker 2: I guess.
- 27:13Speaker 1: So I don't know. Now you know some stuff.
- 27:17Speaker 2: I guess.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I'm gonna stop with this. I'm hoping that's it for this,
- 27:20Speaker 1: because this is stressing me out.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 27:23Speaker 1: We're back to people at Siberia and we see Tato
- 27:26Speaker 1: and his two friends from like a bunch of episodes
- 27:29Speaker 1: ago sitting at a table together with drinks. We cut
- 27:32Speaker 1: to Lane, silhouetted, looking over at them, and Masayuki, the
- 27:36Speaker 1: other boy, notices and nudges Toto, who looks like he's sleeping.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Maybe he has his head down on a table. Toto
- 27:43Speaker 1: lifts his head and he's like, what is it. Masauki
- 27:45Speaker 1: points and Toto turns and Lane says, Hi, you promised
- 27:49Speaker 1: me earlier. Toto's like, huh, what did I promise you?
- 27:54Speaker 1: Lane's like that you'd go out with me. They're all
- 27:57Speaker 1: like what, yeah, me too. Lane says, you said that
- 28:02Speaker 1: you'd go out with me.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Mew mew.
- 28:04Speaker 1: That girl is like, what are you talking about? She
- 28:07Speaker 1: turns to Tato. Tato, is this true? Tato's like, did
- 28:11Speaker 1: I He puts something in his mouth. I didn't know
- 28:14Speaker 1: what it was and he's chewing it and.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Mumu says, no, you didn't, you didn't.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Tato's like, even if I did, you've changed too much.
- 28:24Speaker 1: You aren't the you I want to go out with.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Right now, Lane, mumuse.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Like, Toto, you idiot.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Tato rests his head on his hand and Lane says,
- 28:32Speaker 1: we're all the same. It's just me.
- 28:34Speaker 2: I'm only me.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Tato doesn't look convinced, and then he looks kind of
- 28:38Speaker 1: surprised for some reason, and I didn't know why. And
- 28:41Speaker 1: actually the other two kids look surprised as well. Masayuki
- 28:45Speaker 1: have backs up a bit because he was standing, so
- 28:47Speaker 1: it's easy for him to do that, and we're just
- 28:49Speaker 1: seeing the back of her head, so we don't know
- 28:51Speaker 1: what's going on. And then we cut to Lane's expression
- 28:54Speaker 1: and it's like totally different, like much more severe. I
- 28:58Speaker 1: guess we fade a black. Now we see a street light,
- 29:03Speaker 1: you know, the one outside her house, and the camera
- 29:06Speaker 1: pans up to Lane's lit window and again it is
- 29:09Speaker 1: the only light on that's in her house, which again
- 29:11Speaker 1: makes me kind of weird it out and upset. We
- 29:14Speaker 1: see wires on the floor of her room and we
- 29:17Speaker 1: hear Toato say awesome. We get to Tato's standing with
- 29:21Speaker 1: Lane in her bedroom and he's looking around and he says,
- 29:25Speaker 1: I can't believe you put all this together. We see
- 29:27Speaker 1: like the coolant and the same and stuff and stuff
- 29:30Speaker 1: we've already seen before. And he continues, Oh, I get it.
- 29:33Speaker 1: This stuff sings up with the parallel processors, right. It
- 29:36Speaker 1: ain't pretty, but this way you can keep expanding it.
- 29:38Speaker 1: He looks super excited. The number of upgrades that can
- 29:42Speaker 1: handle is unlimited. What are you using? Is coolant? We
- 29:45Speaker 1: have like our really close up shot of his face
- 29:48Speaker 1: as he's looking at something, but we can't see what,
- 29:50Speaker 1: and we hear Lane say, Toto, Taro's like, is that
- 29:54Speaker 1: liquid carbon? Lane continues sit down over there. Tato turns
- 29:58Speaker 1: to her and is like, huh. He puts his hand
- 30:01Speaker 1: on the back of his head and he's like damn.
- 30:03Speaker 1: And he goes to sit in a chair near the
- 30:05Speaker 1: computer and he is chewing something but I still don't
- 30:09Speaker 1: know what it is. Lane puts her hand down on
- 30:12Speaker 1: the desk next to him. And says, I think you
- 30:14Speaker 1: know what this says. She lifts her hand and reveals
- 30:18Speaker 1: that chip from the Manila envelope. Toto's eyes widen and
- 30:21Speaker 1: he's like, huh, we hear Lane say, it's you, isn't it, Tato.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Toto starts to sweat and he looks kind of frustrated.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Lane continues, you're with the Knights, right what Tato is.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Sweating a lot? So, yeah, I think so.
- 30:37Speaker 1: And he looks real shocked and he turns to Lane
- 30:40Speaker 1: and Lane does not look happy at all, and she's
- 30:44Speaker 1: kind of standing over him, looking really intimidating. Toto says,
- 30:49Speaker 1: you must be the real Lane. Lane's like, I honestly
- 30:52Speaker 1: don't know whether or not there's another me in the
- 30:54Speaker 1: wired I can only speak for my own experiences, but
- 30:57Speaker 1: I know there's definitely not another me coexisting here in
- 31:00Speaker 1: the real world. You must believe me.
- 31:03Speaker 2: She leans over.
- 31:04Speaker 1: The other one with the body has only appeared in
- 31:06Speaker 1: the club. Outside of there, it's been me. Tato looks
- 31:09Speaker 1: kind of confused. Lane continues, you only need to manipulate
- 31:13Speaker 1: the memories of the people there, right. Oh. Tato looks away,
- 31:19Speaker 1: but I just can't. He gets up and like kind
- 31:23Speaker 1: of walks around, like kind of away from Lane, like
- 31:27Speaker 1: to get past her. It's really weird, and then he
- 31:30Speaker 1: kind of like swipes at her. I think the animation
- 31:34Speaker 1: is really not clear here. I kept going over this
- 31:37Speaker 1: and I still don't know what he was doing exactly.
- 31:40Speaker 1: And then he just like ends up falling over onto
- 31:43Speaker 1: his back, and it didn't look like Lane hit him
- 31:46Speaker 1: or that he tripped over anything. Maybe he lost his balance.
- 31:49Speaker 1: I really could not figure out what any of this
- 31:52Speaker 1: part was, Honestly, it kind of pissed me off. Lane
- 31:55Speaker 1: stares down at him. The virtual screens from her computers
- 31:59Speaker 1: just kind of pop up behind her, and she says,
- 32:02Speaker 1: play track forty four. Some really generic techno starts playing,
- 32:06Speaker 1: and Tato looks just fucking terrified. Now we cut to
- 32:10Speaker 1: like a square ceiling light and we can hear the
- 32:14Speaker 1: music just slightly in the background, and we see that
- 32:17Speaker 1: Lane's parents are in the living room, sitting on the couch.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Her mom is sitting on her dad's lap with her
- 32:24Speaker 1: arms around him, and they are just staring up at
- 32:26Speaker 1: the ceiling and her dad says, it's almost over.
- 32:31Speaker 2: It is right. Her mom just stares.
- 32:34Speaker 1: At the ceiling and her dad says, thank God. Her
- 32:38Speaker 1: mom caresses his face and says finally while we still
- 32:42Speaker 1: can and kisses him. We get a glimpse of him
- 32:46Speaker 1: still staring at the ceiling while they're kissing, and then
- 32:48Speaker 1: we pull back into the hall and see that Mika
- 32:52Speaker 1: is sitting slumped against the wall like in the darkness,
- 32:55Speaker 1: just making a bunch of weird sounds. She also looks
- 32:59Speaker 1: up at the ceiling for a bit, and then she
- 33:02Speaker 1: puts her left hand to her face like it's a phone,
- 33:05Speaker 1: you know, and she says, be be beep understood, bee
- 33:11Speaker 1: bee beep, now communicating logging on beep beep g And
- 33:17Speaker 1: as this this happening, like the image is getting smaller
- 33:22Speaker 1: and further away, like it's like a square in blackness
- 33:27Speaker 1: now just kind of getting smaller and smaller in the
- 33:30Speaker 1: middle of the screen. She continues to just make noises
- 33:33Speaker 1: like g bee beep, go, beep beep, and then we
- 33:38Speaker 1: just fade to black. All right, Okay, I feel like
- 33:43Speaker 1: I've been stopping a lot this episode. But what what? Yeah,
- 33:49Speaker 1: we'll get back to that. We got to Lane walking
- 33:51Speaker 1: towards Tato, who is still on the ground, but you know,
- 33:54Speaker 1: he's partially sitting up now, and everything is kind of
- 33:58Speaker 1: blurry and bright, like maybe this music is doing something
- 34:02Speaker 1: to him, and he looks real, real scared, and Lane
- 34:07Speaker 1: says stop and the music stops. Everything looks normal again,
- 34:11Speaker 1: I mean as normal as Lane's room can look. And
- 34:14Speaker 1: Toto says, it's not me. But I knew the data
- 34:17Speaker 1: coming into JJ's place had this kind of effect. I
- 34:19Speaker 1: just didn't know the specifics. Lane bends down, holding up
- 34:22Speaker 1: the chip to him and says, Toto, if I had
- 34:25Speaker 1: tried to install this computer chip, do you know what
- 34:28Speaker 1: would have happened to me? Would I have killed myself?
- 34:30Speaker 1: Gone insane? Toto's like it said, I don't know. There's
- 34:35Speaker 1: no way a young kid like me could be a
- 34:37Speaker 1: formal member of the Knights. To them, I'm just Lane
- 34:41Speaker 1: starts to just push the chip into Toto's mouth and
- 34:45Speaker 1: she says, I wonder what this will do. She pushes
- 34:48Speaker 1: it further in what and Toto's like, with the chip
- 34:52Speaker 1: in his mouth, it's like it's non volatile memory. It'll
- 34:55Speaker 1: lot a rite existing memories. What I'm telling you the truth?
- 35:00Speaker 1: Lane's like, what kind of memories? Toto says, I don't know.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Lane takes the chip out of his mouth, and Toto sighs, Yeah,
- 35:10Speaker 1: I don't think that's how computer chips work. I don't
- 35:12Speaker 1: think you could just put them in someone's mouth and
- 35:14Speaker 1: make their memories go a way you do. I think
- 35:16Speaker 1: the worst that would have happened is he would have
- 35:18Speaker 1: swallowed a computer ship and some of them have little
- 35:20Speaker 1: medley pieces on them, and maybe you would hurt you.
- 35:23Speaker 1: Maybe you need to go to the hospital and get
- 35:25Speaker 1: it taken out, because it is.
- 35:26Speaker 2: A pretty big chip. But I don't think it could.
- 35:28Speaker 1: Damage your memory. I think, at least anyway. Toto stands
- 35:35Speaker 1: and he's like, you know, the Knights aren't just regular
- 35:38Speaker 1: system crackers. Lane, who had been looking at the chip,
- 35:41Speaker 1: turns back towards him, and she just looks really innocent
- 35:44Speaker 1: all of a sudden, and Toto looks really confused for
- 35:47Speaker 1: a second. Me too, and the size. He says, there's
- 35:50Speaker 1: something weird about you. For sure. I see why the
- 35:53Speaker 1: Knights are so interested. The Knights are highly advanced users.
- 35:56Speaker 1: We're fighting against all odds to make the only truth
- 35:59Speaker 1: there is into reality. Lane's like, I don't understand, what
- 36:03Speaker 1: are you talking about when you say one truth? Toto says, well,
- 36:08Speaker 1: like I said, I'm not actually a formal member of
- 36:11Speaker 1: the Knights, and they never really explained it to me.
- 36:14Speaker 1: But the one thing I do know is that it's true.
- 36:17Speaker 1: The truth is power for the very reason that it's
- 36:19Speaker 1: the truth. Now we're seeing Tato's reflection in Lane's eye,
- 36:22Speaker 1: and he continues, and because it's the truth, it's certain
- 36:26Speaker 1: that it has to be just. I don't know what
- 36:28Speaker 1: any of that means. We now see Lane's hand holding
- 36:31Speaker 1: the chip, and Toto says, it's persuasive, isn't it. I
- 36:36Speaker 1: don't think you said anything. You just said that the
- 36:38Speaker 1: truth is the truth, and then maybe the truth is just,
- 36:41Speaker 1: But you didn't explain what the truth is or what
- 36:42Speaker 1: any of that means. He continues, wouldn't you prefer your
- 36:46Speaker 1: truth to be like that? There's silence for a while
- 36:49Speaker 1: because Lane doesn't understand either, and Toto says, I'm going
- 36:53Speaker 1: see ya. He starts to walk past her. I think
- 36:55Speaker 1: Mimu is really jealous of you. Later, he is still
- 36:58Speaker 1: walking out of the room and Lane says, thanks, Toto.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Toto stops, no problem. Lane's like what, I didn't know
- 37:06Speaker 1: why she said that, which means I think there's a
- 37:08Speaker 1: translation error. Tato turns back and Lane stares at him
- 37:12Speaker 1: like super confused, and he walks back over and pulls
- 37:15Speaker 1: her in and kisses her. That's AsSalt, Toto. Anyway, he's
- 37:20Speaker 1: done kissing her, and he pulls away and says, hey,
- 37:22Speaker 1: it's a date, right, I'm a guy. I just had
- 37:24Speaker 1: to do that. He turns and leaves Laane just stares
- 37:29Speaker 1: in confusion for a minute, and then she pulls something
- 37:32Speaker 1: out of her mouth. Yeah, it's his gum. That's gross. Okay, no,
- 37:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna stop there. Gross. Toto has not It's not
- 37:43Speaker 1: like he's a good friend. He's probably working with the Knight.
- 37:46Speaker 1: He was probably involved in this plot to delete Lane's memories.
- 37:50Speaker 1: I don't think she wants to be kissed by him.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Fuck uh, I hate this shit all right. Anyway, we
- 37:58Speaker 1: see kind of a green, any black and purple picture
- 38:02Speaker 1: of a guy on a black screen, and then the
- 38:05Speaker 1: words Ted Nelson comes on the screen. The narrator says,
- 38:10Speaker 1: Ted Nelson a scientist who studied under the two cult pioneers,
- 38:13Speaker 1: Van of var Bush and John C. Lilly expanded on
- 38:16Speaker 1: their theories. We get this like wavy purple background and
- 38:20Speaker 1: like symboly stuff that I can't figure out what it's
- 38:22Speaker 1: supposed to be. And then a guy's head moving across
- 38:25Speaker 1: the screen over the narrator continues. He proposed a giant
- 38:29Speaker 1: electronic library and satellites in stationary orbit which could be
- 38:33Speaker 1: used at any terminal on Earth via radio or telephone lines. Okay,
- 38:37Speaker 1: now we're really talking about the Internet. We see a
- 38:39Speaker 1: bunch of drawings of maybe what this is supposed to
- 38:41Speaker 1: be and shit, and the guy continues. He called this
- 38:45Speaker 1: daring concept that would make an interactive global data paser
- 38:48Speaker 1: reality xanadu. We see that on the screen after a
- 38:52Speaker 1: mythical country. The image fades out and we go to
- 38:55Speaker 1: a diagram that I couldn't even explain if I wanted to,
- 38:59Speaker 1: because for the text I can't read. But it says
- 39:02Speaker 1: global system on it, and it's got like a circle
- 39:04Speaker 1: and like lots of things come out of places I assume,
- 39:07Speaker 1: you know, like a network, the narrator continues, also known
- 39:10Speaker 1: as the Mongolian utopia, where all the written cultures of
- 39:14Speaker 1: the world would forever be preserved and live on for
- 39:17Speaker 1: all eternity. This was xanadu, and so it was the
- 39:21Speaker 1: innovative concept called hypertext that would finally make it a reality,
- 39:26Speaker 1: and Ted Nelson's name would go down in history as
- 39:29Speaker 1: it's esteemed originator. We fade out. Okay, I don't have
- 39:33Speaker 1: much to add there except that Project Xanadu just didn't
- 39:36Speaker 1: end up working out anyway. We see, like I guess,
- 39:40Speaker 1: some computer insides and stuff with like lights and things
- 39:43Speaker 1: I don't know, and we hear Lane say hello, Navi.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Navi's screen comes on with like a lot of words
- 39:51Speaker 1: in red kind of moving over it, and it's hard
- 39:54Speaker 1: to tell what this all says. But they did take
- 39:56Speaker 1: a screenshot, so let me find it. Can kind of
- 39:59Speaker 1: get it idea. These are not complete sentences because you
- 40:02Speaker 1: can only see parts of it. But I got too cooperative,
- 40:07Speaker 1: think I don't know what that word is. Something for
- 40:10Speaker 1: the very something, pretend that things are clearer than the
- 40:16Speaker 1: something proposed to something? Why aliens will think like us
- 40:22Speaker 1: in spite something different origins problems, So something intelligent or
- 40:30Speaker 1: not I don't know, subject to the same I don't know, constraints,
- 40:37Speaker 1: limitations on space, time, and materials in I don't know,
- 40:43Speaker 1: for something evolve powerful ways to deal with such constraints.
- 40:50Speaker 1: They must something wave to represent the situation. They that's
- 40:56Speaker 1: all I got. So I think I'm getting that this
- 41:00Speaker 1: is all about aliens. Yeah, aliens, Okay. Anyway, Lane is
- 41:07Speaker 1: sitting in her chair kind of slumped back. Her arms
- 41:10Speaker 1: are just dangling at her sides, and she says click
- 41:13Speaker 1: click click click memory check click click click click click click.
- 41:19Speaker 1: I guess she's audibly giving commands instead of using a mouse.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Now the words are still there and they're just kind
- 41:27Speaker 1: of warping and swirling around, and then we go to white.
- 41:31Speaker 1: We fade into Lane's super exposed porch and there are
- 41:35Speaker 1: two men in suits, with Lane in between them in
- 41:38Speaker 1: a school uniform. The one that's closer to the door
- 41:41Speaker 1: obviously opens the door and Lane looks inside. Inside standing
- 41:46Speaker 1: in the hallway are her mom, dad, and Mika. The
- 41:50Speaker 1: interior is pretty bright and bleached as well. One of
- 41:53Speaker 1: the men pushes Lane across the threshold and into the house,
- 41:56Speaker 1: and she just stands in the doorway her family. They
- 42:00Speaker 1: all seem to be avoiding her eye contact, looking in
- 42:03Speaker 1: different directions, like Mika's just looking up, her mom's looking
- 42:06Speaker 1: over to the side, and then we see someone grab
- 42:10Speaker 1: her hand and pull her kind of coldly up the stairs.
- 42:14Speaker 1: We see a door open into her super overexposed room
- 42:17Speaker 1: and her dad, who I guess was pulling up the stairs,
- 42:20Speaker 1: is standing next to her in the doorway. We head
- 42:23Speaker 1: to Lane now as she turns to look at the
- 42:25Speaker 1: doorway and sees herself and her dad's standing there, and
- 42:29Speaker 1: she says, that's me, right, Lane from the past says, yes,
- 42:33Speaker 1: this is me. Lane's like, then, tell me who they
- 42:37Speaker 1: are the past. Lane says, there's no way for me
- 42:40Speaker 1: to know that, because I'm you. Lane, looking kind of concerned,
- 42:43Speaker 1: is like, that's a lie.
- 42:45Speaker 2: That has to be.
- 42:47Speaker 1: We get this really nice dark shot of her room
- 42:49Speaker 1: with like wires all over the place. I don't know
- 42:52Speaker 1: what about the background here looks really good, but it does.
- 42:55Speaker 1: And Lane says, it's a lie, all of it.
- 42:58Speaker 2: I don't get it. Are you doing this to me?
- 43:01Speaker 1: And now we see a grainy, wavy looking Earth spinning
- 43:05Speaker 1: through space as Earth might and the narrator says, the Earth,
- 43:11Speaker 1: while orbiting the Sun, has its own specific electromagnetic waves.
- 43:15Speaker 1: The words elf band appear on the screen. The narrator
- 43:19Speaker 1: continues between the ionosphere and the Earth's surface, there's a
- 43:23Speaker 1: constant resonance at a frequency of eight herts. I'll stop
- 43:27Speaker 1: there and say, it's more like seven point eight three herts.
- 43:31Speaker 1: And also it changes frequently depending on lots of things,
- 43:37Speaker 1: because it's electromagnetic resonance, so it's coming from like lightning
- 43:41Speaker 1: a lot like that's changing it, and like the seasons
- 43:44Speaker 1: and ionosphere conditions all kind of change this frequency, but
- 43:48Speaker 1: it's usually around seven point eight three herts. Anyway, we
- 43:51Speaker 1: now see green waves in the background behind the Earth
- 43:54Speaker 1: where space used to be, and he continues the eleft
- 43:58Speaker 1: band range of frequencies. This is called the Shuman resonance,
- 44:02Speaker 1: which we also see on the screen. However, the extent
- 44:05Speaker 1: of the effect on human subjects of these Earth brain
- 44:08Speaker 1: waves that the planet constantly gives off is impossible to
- 44:11Speaker 1: quantify and remains a mystery. I mean, considering we're experiencing
- 44:14Speaker 1: them all the time, there's really no way to tell
- 44:17Speaker 1: what impact they have. He continues, the human population on
- 44:21Speaker 1: Earth is approaching the number of neurons in the brain.
- 44:23Speaker 1: That's not true at all at all. Currently there are
- 44:26Speaker 1: about eight point three billion people in the world, which
- 44:29Speaker 1: is more than there were in the nineties, but there
- 44:33Speaker 1: are probably around one hundred billion neurons in the brain.
- 44:36Speaker 1: So no, that's not true at all anyway. Douglas Rushkov
- 44:41Speaker 1: proposes that the consciousness of the Earth itself might be
- 44:44Speaker 1: awakened when all of the humans on Earth become collectively
- 44:47Speaker 1: networked and resonate at the same frequency. Okay, Earth gets
- 44:52Speaker 1: more wavy and like wharfed. And then we get like
- 44:55Speaker 1: a bright yellow screen and we pull back and it
- 44:58Speaker 1: looks like I thought it was a sun. Maybe it's
- 45:00Speaker 1: like a neuron firing. And then like a bunch of black,
- 45:03Speaker 1: connecty things, and the narrator continues. The evolution of the
- 45:08Speaker 1: network would follow a neural model path, and just as
- 45:11Speaker 1: neurons within a human brain are connected by synapses, the
- 45:14Speaker 1: Earth itself would become a single neural network. We're seeing
- 45:18Speaker 1: like black and white schematics like overlaid on each other
- 45:22Speaker 1: or something.
- 45:22Speaker 2: I don't know what these are.
- 45:24Speaker 1: And then we go to like a red screen, and
- 45:26Speaker 1: we're like going down somewhere, like down through the red,
- 45:31Speaker 1: and we get down to like a yellow shape that
- 45:33Speaker 1: I think might be land and might even be Japan,
- 45:36Speaker 1: but I don't know. We got to some wavy lines
- 45:38Speaker 1: on a pinkish purple background that are like pulsing and
- 45:41Speaker 1: stuff yay, And then we go to Lane from above
- 45:45Speaker 1: looking up, and she says, there's only one real truth
- 45:49Speaker 1: and one God. We hear a man who I believe
- 45:52Speaker 1: is God say yes me. Now we see a paper
- 45:56Speaker 1: with like the knobby computer symble on it that says
- 45:59Speaker 1: in English, but not great English. The effectiveness of the
- 46:02Speaker 1: applying Shuman residence to the wired network. Masumi Edi MSc
- 46:08Speaker 1: the narrator. Unless it's God, I'm not really sure, says
- 46:12Speaker 1: Massumi Eedi. We're seeing his name on the screen now.
- 46:15Speaker 1: Chief researcher at Tachibana General Labs further developed the hypothesis
- 46:20Speaker 1: of the Worldwide Neural Network. His hypothesis proposed this wired network.
- 46:25Speaker 1: We're seeing power lines on white and lots of other
- 46:28Speaker 1: wires and stuff flots pictures of them, where all of
- 46:31Speaker 1: humanity would be plugged in at an unconscious level without
- 46:34Speaker 1: the need for any technical supporter or ancillary device. We
- 46:37Speaker 1: see like a black and white image of two dudes
- 46:40Speaker 1: at a computer and lab coats. But for the first
- 46:42Speaker 1: time in these info dumps, they are drawn, so we're
- 46:46Speaker 1: not doing real stuff. Now, this is exclusive to the anime.
- 46:50Speaker 1: The narrator continues Furthermore, he carefully encoded the Shuman Residence
- 46:55Speaker 1: factor and inserted it into the redesign of the seventh
- 46:58Speaker 1: generation Wired Protocol his own initiative. Fuck Now, we see
- 47:04Speaker 1: looks like kind of a closeup of a train track,
- 47:06Speaker 1: and there's like a little foldy sign that's red and
- 47:08Speaker 1: has a thirteen on it, and it looks like it's raining,
- 47:12Speaker 1: and then we cut to like a bunch of people
- 47:14Speaker 1: on the tracks doing stuff, and the narrator continues. Upon
- 47:18Speaker 1: discovering this, Tachibana, General Labs dismissed Eerie. One week later,
- 47:23Speaker 1: Masamiidi's body was found alongside the tracks on the Yamanote
- 47:28Speaker 1: train line. We see somebody putting like a white thing
- 47:32Speaker 1: that's either a wet piece of fabric or paper into
- 47:34Speaker 1: a black bag. I don't know if that's part of
- 47:36Speaker 1: his clothing or what's going on, but it's probably not
- 47:39Speaker 1: something nice. We now see a newspaper article, not a
- 47:42Speaker 1: real one, to drawing one with his picture on it,
- 47:45Speaker 1: and it's not translated, so I don't know what it says,
- 47:48Speaker 1: but we're just kind of zooming in on his face,
- 47:50Speaker 1: and then we fade out. We go to a closeup
- 47:52Speaker 1: shot of Lane looking over her shoulder with a yellow
- 47:55Speaker 1: sky and wires behind her, and she looks kind of scared.
- 47:58Speaker 1: We pull back and see that she's standing in the
- 48:00Speaker 1: liver streets and she doesn't.
- 48:01Speaker 2: Have any shoes on.
- 48:03Speaker 1: For some reason, she turns around and looks down the
- 48:05Speaker 1: street towards her house and someone is standing in the road,
- 48:09Speaker 1: you know, closer to her house, but this person has
- 48:11Speaker 1: kind of a ways away. She kind of tilts her
- 48:14Speaker 1: head maybe to get a better view because she needs glasses, remember,
- 48:18Speaker 1: And we cut to the torso of somebody in a
- 48:21Speaker 1: lab coat, but they don't have.
- 48:23Speaker 2: A shirt on, so that's a little weird.
- 48:25Speaker 1: And they have like electrical tape like wrapped around their
- 48:28Speaker 1: waist and kind of I think they're lower arms or
- 48:31Speaker 1: upper arms. I can't remember now because I didn't write it.
- 48:33Speaker 1: We pull up so we can see the head of
- 48:35Speaker 1: this person and it's like this really sinister looking dude
- 48:39Speaker 1: with very long, dark wavy brown hair and these vertical
- 48:43Speaker 1: pink markings on his cheeks under his eyes. To be
- 48:47Speaker 1: continued and then we go to the ending theme and
- 48:49Speaker 1: that's it. Yeah, okay, closing thoughts. I don't know, man,
- 48:55Speaker 1: that was really long, and I don't know if that
- 48:57Speaker 1: was good, Like, did you get something that because I
- 49:01Speaker 1: feel like I was very boring. I think I remember
- 49:05Speaker 1: watching this for the first time and just like barely
- 49:08Speaker 1: being able to make it through this episode, like falling asleep.
- 49:11Speaker 1: So yeay, I hope that you didn't fall asleep watching it,
- 49:15Speaker 1: or especially listening to me, because I feel really bad
- 49:18Speaker 1: if you did. I mean, that was kind of a
- 49:20Speaker 1: I was going to say, creative way to get a
- 49:22Speaker 1: lot of information there, but I don't actually know if
- 49:24Speaker 1: it was. To be honest, I mean, basically, what we
- 49:27Speaker 1: learned is I think what we learned, and I'm not
- 49:30Speaker 1: really sure, is that aliens probably exist and they probably
- 49:34Speaker 1: have something to do with the Internet. But when that
- 49:38Speaker 1: guy made that thing, when he made mimics, whatever that
- 49:42Speaker 1: guy's name was, that was in nineteen forty five, so
- 49:45Speaker 1: that was before the aliens came and crashed down, and
- 49:49Speaker 1: you know, he and a bunch of other people like
- 49:52Speaker 1: talk to the Aliens or whatever that was supposed to be.
- 49:54Speaker 1: I don't know, but what I'm getting from this is
- 49:57Speaker 1: that somehow aliens helped us the Internet, or at least
- 50:01Speaker 1: the Wired and it's all about roswell.
- 50:04Speaker 2: And cover ups. I think it's.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Interesting to kind of put all those scientists in there
- 50:10Speaker 1: so we could get to today and what Masamieri was
- 50:14Speaker 1: trying to do with the Wired. And I think that
- 50:16Speaker 1: that's probably the most important part of all this is
- 50:19Speaker 1: that he puts the Earth resonance frequency, which again changes
- 50:22Speaker 1: all the time, so that wouldn't really work into the Wired.
- 50:26Speaker 1: And I guess that's why we're having all these problems.
- 50:29Speaker 1: I guess that's why the Wired is starting to merge
- 50:32Speaker 1: with the real world and you have just all of
- 50:36Speaker 1: this shit happening. You know, like when those games got
- 50:39Speaker 1: crossed with the kids playing tag and stuff. It's because
- 50:42Speaker 1: we're all somehow getting connected without realizing it. I guess,
- 50:46Speaker 1: like we're all part of the Wired now, or anybody
- 50:49Speaker 1: who has a computer and has been on the Wired
- 50:51Speaker 1: or something. I'm not sure, but anyway, that's a little
- 50:55Speaker 1: out there, definitely, but it kind of makes some of
- 50:58Speaker 1: this makes sense. But I'm more concerned about what the
- 51:02Speaker 1: fuck Lane, because there are still things I don't get.
- 51:05Speaker 1: I mean, we have the new mystery now, I mean
- 51:07Speaker 1: it's not new, but we have the new news now
- 51:10Speaker 1: that she probably was adopted maybe, like she's definitely not
- 51:15Speaker 1: these people's kid, these guys who look like maybe they're
- 51:18Speaker 1: the government or you know, from Tashibhana Labs or something
- 51:22Speaker 1: brought her to her family to live there, and they
- 51:25Speaker 1: seem like from the beginning they were really uninterested in her.
- 51:29Speaker 1: So it's too bad they didn't place her with somebody else,
- 51:32Speaker 1: I guess, but we don't know any more than that.
- 51:35Speaker 1: And then the other thing that I've been thinking about
- 51:37Speaker 1: since last week, and I was thinking about in the
- 51:40Speaker 1: shower today is what that last scene in the last
- 51:43Speaker 1: episode meant. Well, not the last last scene, but the
- 51:46Speaker 1: scene where she was at school and she had somehow
- 51:51Speaker 1: deleted all these people's memories, which I guess you can
- 51:54Speaker 1: do since the residence frequency is connecting everyone. I guess
- 51:58Speaker 1: it is possible to just memories if you know how
- 52:01Speaker 1: to do it. But she kind of came out of
- 52:04Speaker 1: herself basically and went to hang out with her friends,
- 52:07Speaker 1: leaving actual real Lane behind. But in this episode, we
- 52:11Speaker 1: know that she doesn't believe that there's more than one
- 52:13Speaker 1: real Lane in the real world. That's all like some
- 52:16Speaker 1: sort of hypnosis that's going on in the club because
- 52:19Speaker 1: of the wired and because of these frequencies. I guess
- 52:22Speaker 1: you could do that. But if she doesn't believe that
- 52:25Speaker 1: there's any other her in the real world. That means
- 52:28Speaker 1: that that entire scene was just kind of a I guess,
- 52:32Speaker 1: a metaphor for like what she's going through as an
- 52:36Speaker 1: individual and how she feels like she can't be herself
- 52:39Speaker 1: around these people and that sucks. So it's like, and
- 52:43Speaker 1: I think I kind of started saying this last week too,
- 52:47Speaker 1: but it's like, I mean, she's acting and she's participating
- 52:50Speaker 1: with these girls, but at the same time, she's just
- 52:53Speaker 1: kind of inside herself watching these people interact with the
- 52:59Speaker 1: person that they want her to be and not who
- 53:01Speaker 1: she is.
- 53:03Speaker 2: That sucks.
- 53:05Speaker 1: So yeah, I think we need to help Lane. We
- 53:10Speaker 1: need to I don't know what we got to do,
- 53:12Speaker 1: but she's not in a good place mentally, So yeah.
- 53:18Speaker 1: I also, with Tato being one of the nights, I
- 53:20Speaker 1: didn't expect it exactly, but also like before this episode,
- 53:24Speaker 1: he'd only been in two other episodes, so I wish
- 53:28Speaker 1: he was in more of it so I could be like, oh,
- 53:30Speaker 1: he's really kind of suspicious or something, instead of just
- 53:33Speaker 1: being like, oh, he's a Knight that we only saw
- 53:35Speaker 1: a couple of times. Like, I like his character to
- 53:38Speaker 1: be more intertwined in story, even though I don't like
- 53:41Speaker 1: him at all. I think he's a piece of shit.
- 53:43Speaker 2: So whatever. Yeah, so this was a lot, a lot.
- 53:48Speaker 1: Again, I hope that you didn't hate this, and if
- 53:50Speaker 1: you did, I would totally get it. You can write
- 53:53Speaker 1: to me and tell me about how my quality is
- 53:55Speaker 1: slipping and you wish I would just stop making the
- 53:59Speaker 1: show if you want. It might hurt me, but sometimes
- 54:03Speaker 1: you gotta be real with people, right, Sometimes you got
- 54:06Speaker 1: to tell them the stuff they don't want to hear.
- 54:07Speaker 1: You don't have to write to me and tell me that,
- 54:09Speaker 1: but you could. Yeah, I know, I know, I know something.
- 54:15Speaker 1: So hopefully you're enjoying this and even more so Lane.
- 54:21Speaker 1: But yeah, this is a lot.
- 54:22Speaker 2: I get it.
- 54:23Speaker 1: I think that there was probably a better way to
- 54:25Speaker 1: do this and make it engaging than what we got,
- 54:28Speaker 1: but I don't really.
- 54:29Speaker 2: Know what that is.
- 54:30Speaker 1: So all we know is that the Internet and the
- 54:34Speaker 1: real world really are blending. Lane's parents are waiting for
- 54:39Speaker 1: whatever this is to end, which is worriesome, and Lane
- 54:43Speaker 1: is not. Okay, So there you go. I think that's
- 54:48Speaker 1: all I'm gonna say for this episode. I think that
- 54:51Speaker 1: that's plenty. I think this is like, I mean, as
- 54:54Speaker 1: of me recording this, this is a good like twenty
- 54:56Speaker 1: to thirty minutes longer than a normal Lane episode, So like, yeah,
- 55:00Speaker 1: I think we're done. I think you got it. I hope,
- 55:03Speaker 1: and uh, I'm gonna go do something, but it's really
- 55:07Speaker 1: hot outside, so I'm not gonna do the things I
- 55:09Speaker 1: want to do. I don't know what. I'm gonna do something,
- 55:12Speaker 1: something stupid, I'm sure, but I hope that you have
- 55:15Speaker 1: a really good whatever, and I will be back again
- 55:20Speaker 1: next week, hopefully later. Weeps
