- 0:07Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 0:16resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 0:20And as you exhale, feel a wonderful feeling of release, as
- 0:30if any tension, stress and worries as starting to leave
- 0:36your body in your outward breath, breathing in relaxation
- 0:44and exhaling tension. Each breath takes you deeper and
- 0:56deeper, relaxed. The deeper you breathe, the more
- 1:02relaxed you feel, and the more relaxed you feel, the deeper you
- 1:11breathe. And as your body relaxes, your
- 1:18imagination awakens. With your eyes closed, allow
- 1:24yourself to drift to a place within the kind of place where
- 1:30powerful, profound changes can naturally take place, Continuing
- 1:39to breathe in relaxation and exhale tension.
- 1:45That's it. I want you to imagine a
- 1:50staircase leading down, leading down to your own private cinema.
- 2:00This is a cinema of the past and the future, breathing in
- 2:08relaxation, exhaling tension as you imagine standing there at
- 2:15the top of this staircase. Maybe it's wooden, maybe it's
- 2:22made of marble or carpeted. You decide.
- 2:28As I count down from 12:50 you will imagine taking a step down
- 2:34each step of the staircase and when I arrive at 0, you will
- 2:42have left the staircase and you will be at a corridor that leads
- 2:49towards your own private cinema. Breathing in relaxation,
- 2:56exhaling tension. 10. Taking the first step, that's
- 3:02it. Feeling deeper and deeper,
- 3:08relaxed. That's it.
- 3:11Nine. Another step down the staircase,
- 3:15releasing tension from your jaw, your forehead.
- 3:20That's it. 8 Focus now on your neck and your shoulders as you
- 3:26take another step down the staircase.
- 3:30That's it. Feel that tension being released
- 3:35as eight becomes 7. Just imagine your arms all the
- 3:42way down to your fingers, feeling comfortable and relaxed.
- 3:50That's it. Almost like your arms, the limbs
- 3:55of a puppet with no strings. That's it as six turns to five.
- 4:02Now focus on your internal organs.
- 4:08Your heart is relaxing now. Your lungs are relaxing now.
- 4:17That's it. Stomach all the way down your
- 4:21digestive system into your gut. Relaxing.
- 4:25Now, all of your internal organs relaxed as five goes to four,
- 4:31another step down the staircase, all the way down past your
- 4:36diaphragm, deep into the gut. If the neck and the shoulders
- 4:41are where some people hold on to stress and tension, the lower
- 4:48gut is where anxiety lives. So as you breathe in that
- 4:52relaxation, exhale that tension, feel it leaving your body, all
- 5:00the anxiety dissolving into vapor and leaving your body in
- 5:07your outward breath. That's it.
- 5:11As four turns to three, another step down the staircase.
- 5:16That's it. I want you to imagine your legs
- 5:20are getting limp, loose and relaxed initially, your thighs
- 5:27going down into your knees. That's it.
- 5:30Three goes to two, your calf muscles all the way down into
- 5:34your ankles, feeling effortlessly relaxed.
- 5:39Now that's it, Deeper and deeper, relaxed down into your
- 5:47toes. So your legs, like your arms,
- 5:49also feel limp and loose and relaxed.
- 5:55That's it. And then one from the tips of
- 5:59your toes to the top of your head, all the way down to the
- 6:02tips of your fingers, feel that ripple of relaxation as you are
- 6:06now down on the final step of the staircase.
- 6:11Feel your body relaxed, comfortable.
- 6:15That's it. And 0.
- 6:18You've now left the staircase, walking down that short corridor
- 6:26and going into your own private cinema.
- 6:30And I want you to imagine. Imagine taking a comfortable
- 6:35seat in your own private cinema. That's it.
- 6:44And I want you to imagine a movie is about to play.
- 6:51This is a short film about an attempted change that doesn't
- 7:00last when you focus just on behaviour, breathing and
- 7:07relaxation, exhaling tension. I want you to see your current
- 7:12identity as if you're a character, an actor in a movie,
- 7:18focusing on trying to make a change linked to what you do.
- 7:27Maybe see yourself trying to lose weight, to change a habit,
- 7:34to do less of one thing or more of something else.
- 7:39Maybe see yourself trying to attempt 7 or 8 different goals
- 7:45all at the same time. And I want you to see how this
- 7:52current strategy plays out, what you do well, but what isn't
- 8:02quite right. And maybe this is a change that
- 8:06you've tried to make before. And if so, maybe see yourself as
- 8:12a little bit wiser, able to do different things to increase the
- 8:18probability. This is your current identity
- 8:24trying to make a change, and I want you to learn everything you
- 8:30can by seeing this version of you.
- 8:34And what your unconscious anticipates will be what happens
- 8:42when you try to make this change.
- 8:50I want you to get a sense that some things are good and some
- 8:54things could be improved. And I want you to keep replaying
- 9:00the movie each time you see a mistake, an error, an area of
- 9:08improvement. Just allow yourself to see
- 9:12yourself making making a change that is evolutionary and then
- 9:22starting again, each time seeing yourself more likely to succeed.
- 9:32I want you to imagine that this can keep on happening until you
- 9:37get the best version of you trying to do the right thing.
- 9:48Let's rewind that and consider a different movie.
- 9:55I want you to ask yourself a question.
- 9:58What would be the single most impactful change that you could
- 10:07take into the new year? Not 5, not 3, just one.
- 10:16What is the single thing that you could do differently that
- 10:22would positively impact your life?
- 10:30And then ask yourself an even more powerful question.
- 10:39Who do you need to be in order to make that change inevitable?
- 10:48Not what you need to do, but who you need to be.
- 10:55What qualities, What do you need to value?
- 10:59What do you need to believe? And then imagine seeing that
- 11:06version of you, the version of you that is the evolved
- 11:12identity. See that version of you making
- 11:18that change. And I want you to notice the
- 11:24difference. This evolved identity of you is
- 11:33living in a different way. It's less about what you do and
- 11:40more about who you are. A vegan doesn't require
- 11:50discipline or self-control not to eat meat because a vegan
- 11:58doesn't eat meat. I want you to imagine what your
- 12:06identity needs to be in order to align perfectly with this
- 12:16change. I want you to ask yourself what
- 12:25would need to follow the words I am in order for this change to
- 12:34naturally align with that version of you.
- 12:42Consider this the building blocks.
- 12:46And now imagine observing that future version of you there on
- 12:52that screen, in that identity, with that focus, with all of
- 13:02those values, beliefs, and qualities that would naturally
- 13:06align with that change. And then imagine playing these
- 13:14two movies side by side so you can see the difference, the
- 13:18version of you trying to do the right thing compared with you
- 13:25being the right version of you. Notice the distinctions, the
- 13:33differences. Which one has more inner
- 13:37conflict and struggle? Which one's more likely to fail?
- 13:44And if you're unconscious, accepts that when you are
- 13:48aligned with an identity, the change becomes inevitable.
- 13:57And I want you to imagine seeing that identity version of you,
- 14:02making progress, being consistent, doing what's
- 14:11required, not with a burst of motivation or willpower, but
- 14:18through alignment. By being that version of you.
- 14:25See that version of you on that screen, making progress.
- 14:30Small wins become bigger wins. That version of you doesn't look
- 14:35at success or failure, but everything is a feedback loop.
- 14:42If something doesn't go to plan, that version of you makes an
- 14:46amendment, a tweak, A refinement, and see yourself
- 14:51progressing until you have irrefutable evidence that that
- 14:58version of you has made the change or achieved the goal that
- 15:04you have determined would have the single biggest impact on
- 15:12your life. Breathing in, breathing out,
- 15:17feeling deeper and deeper, relaxed.
- 15:21When you're convinced that that future version of you is aligned
- 15:28with an identity that would make it inevitable that you make that
- 15:34change, rewind it. And then imagine stepping into
- 15:38the screen and feel what it would feel like to wake up
- 15:44tomorrow being that version of you.
- 15:51Notice how the resources are different, the thoughts are
- 15:56different and the behaviour. Doing the right thing is not the
- 16:03intention, but now the side effect of being that version of
- 16:11you. I want you to notice that when
- 16:15there are setbacks or challenges, this version of you
- 16:20linked to the identity doesn't even perceive it as failure.
- 16:28It's just a pause for reflection, a feedback loop.
- 16:32You reassess and then continue. Not every day needs to be
- 16:38perfect in order for that version of you to be aligned
- 16:47with this goal or change. I want you to imagine now.
- 16:53It's a year from now, and I want you to imagine you're now
- 16:59thinking back to what impact that change had on the quality
- 17:04of your life. Did it give you more freedom,
- 17:09more confidence, more courage, more feelings of pride, or
- 17:16something else? And then imagine how different
- 17:21it feels to be a year from now, wanting to make another big
- 17:28change, but building on the foundation of having already
- 17:35made that change. And you can do that.
- 17:40You could imagine yourself, one year from now, knowing what it
- 17:44would feel like to have already lived with that change.
- 17:52That it becomes so natural that it requires no effort.
- 17:57It's simply how you are living now.
- 18:04I want you to imagine leaving that cinema, walking back up the
- 18:07stairs and starting to float all the way back to your reality,
- 18:13but now with clarity. Clarity as to the change, a
- 18:20willingness to step into a new identity, and a willingness to
- 18:27be consistent even if it means pausing for reflection and then
- 18:35moving forward once again. Very soon I will count from 1:00
- 18:41to 10:00 to awaken you. So take a deep breath in through
- 18:46your nose and out through your nose.
- 18:50Wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes, connect and calibrate into
- 18:55the here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to
- 19:00awaken the evolved identity, the version of you that can make
- 19:07that change feel inevitable, A foregone conclusion.
- 19:15It simply will be done. Starting to count 123.
- 19:22Waking up 456. More alert 7-8.
- 19:26Open your eyes. Open your eyes, 910.
- 19:30Wide awake, Wide awake, wide awake.
