Transcript
- 0:03Adam: Welcome to the Adam and Deja Show.
- 0:05Adam: Got another great one.
- 0:06Adam: Today we're talking Sleepy Whale Midtown.
- 0:08Adam: But first.
- 0:13Dedra: And thank you to Energy City Brewing.
- 0:16Dedra: This episode's beverage.
- 0:20Adam: Oh man, that's good.
- 0:22Adam: That's gonna make us drool.
- 0:23Adam: You can just tell by the tartness of that.
- 0:25Adam: This is uh the Energy City Brewing.
- 0:28Adam: And uh they're out of Illinois, I believe.
- 0:31Adam: Yeah.
- 0:31Adam: Itesca?
- 0:32Adam: Illinois?
- 0:34Adam: If I'm butchering that name, that's pretty bad.
- 0:37Adam: I'll let you know.
- 0:38Adam: I think that's Itesca.
- 0:41Dedra: I think so too.
- 0:42Dedra: Sounds good.
- 0:43Dedra: Let's run with it.
- 0:43Dedra: All right.
- 0:45Adam: It's uh the bistro bistro, strawberry, and rhubarb crumble.
- 0:49Adam: Flavored Berliner style wise beer.
- 0:53Adam: Contains fruit.
- 0:54Adam: And it even tells you to like swirl and invert before pouring.
- 0:58Adam: And I can see why.
- 0:59Adam: Look at the thickness of it.
- 1:00Adam: For sure.
- 1:00Adam: One drink, and it's like coating my glass.
- 1:03Dedra: Right.
- 1:04Dedra: You can see that.
- 1:04Dedra: I'm gonna see all turn this sideways.
- 1:06Dedra: So you can see where it's not coated.
- 1:09Dedra: Not coated.
- 1:10Dedra: Turn it.
- 1:11Dedra: Oh yeah.
- 1:12Adam: Coated.
- 1:12Adam: And my first drink, you know what I'm really getting from that?
- 1:19Adam: The rhubarb.
- 1:21Dedra: I was gonna say the same thing.
- 1:22Dedra: Rhubarb.
- 1:23Dedra: Um, but yeah, I agree.
- 1:25Dedra: It's it's really good.
- 1:26Dedra: It's it's tart, but it's not like it doesn't make you pucker too much.
- 1:31Adam: Yeah.
- 1:31Adam: The glands aren't going from the corners of your mouth there.
- 1:34Dedra: Right, right.
- 1:35Dedra: It doesn't feel like you're sucking on a moorhead.
- 1:37Adam: Yeah.
- 1:37Adam: And I say rhubarb because the strawberry, I think, is a little bit mild, and I have no idea what rhubarb tastes like, so I'm assuming that's just the other flavor I'm getting.
- 1:47Dedra: I also taste some crumble.
- 1:49Adam: Yeah.
- 1:49Adam: Like grandcracker or something inside that, right?
- 1:52Dedra: Sure.
- 1:53Dedra: Just kidding.
- 1:54Dedra: Yeah.
- 1:54Dedra: I do get that that crumbled acrust of that flavor to it.
- 1:58Dedra: It's mild.
- 2:00Adam: You can see the little coating there.
- 2:01Adam: I think that's grandcracker.
- 2:03Dedra: Oh, it's gotta be.
- 2:04Dedra: Are you sure it's not the strawberry?
- 2:06Dedra: I think it's a strawberry.
- 2:08Adam: That's hilarious.
- 2:09Adam: It could be it's just a good bunch of goodness.
- 2:12Adam: It says that like fruit was like added in here, um, like blended in like puree and put inside there.
- 2:19Adam: So that's pretty cool.
- 2:20Dedra: Yeah, definitely.
- 2:21Dedra: That it's it's good.
- 2:22Dedra: It's very good.
- 2:23Dedra: Look at that.
- 2:24Dedra: I'm already beating you.
- 2:25Dedra: Oh man.
- 2:25Dedra: And we just we just barely even started the show.
- 2:28Adam: Oh, it's it's pretty close.
- 2:29Adam: Oh yeah.
- 2:30Dedra: I'm totally winning this one.
- 2:32Adam: Um well, we went to the Sleepy Well this weekend, and that was an amazing place.
- 2:39Adam: So the Sleepy Well, they have one in like Chandler, I think it is.
- 2:42Adam: Gilbert Chandler, like way the hell out there on the east side.
- 2:45Dedra: Right.
- 2:46Adam: Um, it's owned by the same company that does the wandering tortoise, which we featured on here, and the Theodore also featured on here, maybe a couple times.
- 2:54Dedra: And uh they've one of my favorite places to go is Theodore.
- 2:58Adam: The Theodore, yeah, it is.
- 2:59Adam: That's a that's a great place.
- 3:01Adam: But they that one was so far, we never went to that one.
- 3:04Adam: Um, but they just put one in Midtown, so uh Central and Camelbacks.
- 3:10Adam: So I guess that would be Uptown Phoenix.
- 3:12Adam: And it's I mean, it has the same vibe.
- 3:16Adam: So that the the place that it's at used to be a brewery, Hus Brewing Company, and I think they just had it as a tap room right there.
- 3:22Adam: And that closed a while back ago.
- 3:26Adam: Um, and they put this the sleepy whale there, and I think it's a great choice.
- 3:31Adam: I agree, absolutely.
- 3:33Adam: Yeah, to take the place.
- 3:35Adam: I mean, I have uh nothing against Hus brewing.
- 3:37Adam: I actually really enjoy it.
- 3:38Adam: They had a lot of great beers at that particular brewery, but enjoying the sleepy whale, all the the different taps, whatever they had on on at that particular time.
- 3:49Adam: I mean, we we just went nuts, I think, when we got there.
- 3:52Adam: So I think we started with four tasters, as you as per our usual.
- 3:57Adam: And they were all hazy.
- 4:01Adam: And I believe that they all had a distinct flavor.
- 4:04Adam: It was like from a light to a super heavy hazy IPA, and each of them was unique.
- 4:10Dedra: Yes, and that there, that was like my perfect flight, because I was like, ooh, all hazy.
- 4:15Dedra: So we split our flight.
- 4:17Dedra: So you got two, and I got the other two hazyes.
- 4:21Adam: Yeah.
- 4:21Dedra: That was that was a really good that was I'm glad we went that route.
- 4:24Adam: Yeah.
- 4:24Adam: Well, we shared all four of them.
- 4:26Dedra: Right.
- 4:27Adam: So the lightest one was called Born Into Light, and that was a beer from everywhere and everywhere we've talked about.
- 4:34Adam: Um, they were at the beer festival when we were there down in San Diego.
- 4:38Adam: Um and great beer.
- 4:41Adam: It was very it really was the lightest in flavor and alcohol.
- 4:46Adam: I think it was only like 6.9%.
- 4:47Adam: And I know that's saying that's light.
- 4:49Adam: That's not really that light, but it was it was a hazy, and but it was very mild in flavored, I would say.
- 4:54Adam: Very uh easy drinker, and one of those ones that you could probably just sit there and have three or four of them and still just like coast through, not get tired of the flavor.
- 5:04Adam: It was nothing like super thick where you're just gonna like, I need to take a minute.
- 5:09Adam: But everywhere makes some good beers.
- 5:12Adam: I like them.
- 5:13Dedra: They do.
- 5:13Dedra: Speaking of good beers, I got one from North Park, and they had a ton of uh beer from North Park over there at Sleepy Whales.
- 5:22Dedra: So they had some in their refrigerators, like to go cans, and then you can even crack a can and they'll pour it there for you.
- 5:28Adam: Three shelves full of that.
- 5:29Adam: That was a lot.
- 5:30Dedra: That was a lot.
- 5:31Dedra: They had a, and then of course, I'll tell you later what else they had a lot of too.
- 5:35Dedra: Um, but I got art is hard silver, and that was a triple dry hop, hazy IPA at about 7%.
- 5:42Dedra: And that one of the two that I got, and the two of yours that I tried, I think that one was by far my most favorite.
- 5:50Dedra: And if you guys are ever there and you get it on draft, it's the number 15.
- 5:56Adam: It was that time anyway.
- 5:57Adam: And I know what you mean.
- 5:59Adam: That one had like a really, really deep flavor to it.
- 6:02Adam: It uh it was a lot more of a flavor punch than that everywhere one.
- 6:07Dedra: Yes.
- 6:08Adam: We got to get to everywhere, by the way.
- 6:09Adam: That's how orange.
- 6:10Adam: We were so close to it.
- 6:12Adam: We were in the like downtown orange area right there.
- 6:15Adam: Went to like one brewery that was down that main stretch, and everywhere was like a block away or something, but we weren't that close.
- 6:23Adam: It was close.
- 6:24Dedra: Oh my gosh.
- 6:25Adam: And I don't know the reason.
- 6:27Adam: I think it was just like timing.
- 6:28Adam: We just didn't have enough time while we were right there.
- 6:31Dedra: Gotcha.
- 6:32Adam: Yeah.
- 6:32Adam: We were I think we were trying to get food, but I feel like we were just eating the whole time anyway.
- 6:37Dedra: That's what vacations are about, anyways.
- 6:39Adam: Yeah, maybe we just couldn't fit anymore, so we were just like, we gotta get back.
- 6:44Dedra: That makes sense.
- 6:44Dedra: That makes sense.
- 6:46Adam: But uh yeah, no, yours was really good, and it was like that.
- 6:49Adam: So that was like the second lightest one, too.
- 6:55Adam: Surprisingly, yeah.
- 6:56Adam: There was another one too that you liked.
- 6:59Adam: Like the the that one was like what 15 and 16 were your favorites, right?
- 7:03Dedra: Yes, and the 16 was not from concentrate, which is uh hot hot butcher.
- 7:09Adam: Yes.
- 7:10Dedra: And that was actually an Imperial hazy IPA.
- 7:13Adam: It was obviously dry hopped, and that one they put a ton in there, and then being an Imperial was like 8% alcohol, I think.
- 7:19Adam: Yes, and that one just like that hot flavor.
- 7:22Adam: You you took a drink of it, and you can just feel like the just that hot flavor just swimming in your mouth after you took a drink of it.
- 7:30Adam: But that was good too.
- 7:32Adam: That was actually one of my favorites, also.
- 7:34Dedra: Did you get a full pour of that one?
- 7:37Adam: No, no, no.
- 7:38Adam: Um, one of the people that we were with got like two, I think, pores of that one back.
- 7:43Adam: Oh, that's right.
- 7:44Adam: He was enjoying the heck out of it.
- 7:47Dedra: I see it with like so you know what we do, our tasters.
- 7:49Dedra: I wonder how much different it would taste if you were to get just like a full pour.
- 7:53Adam: I don't know.
- 7:54Adam: Yeah, because we were, even though they were like five-ounce pores, they were like good, right, um, good pores, and we were, you know, going back and forth between all of them.
- 8:02Adam: It's like, oh, taste this, taste, taste this one.
- 8:05Adam: And uh yeah, I felt like we were going back and forth.
- 8:07Dedra: And I feel like there was one that as it sat out and started to warm up, I feel like that changed in its flavor profile too.
- 8:16Dedra: Yeah.
- 8:16Dedra: Do you remember which one that was?
- 8:17Adam: That could have been the last one because I felt like that one did change a little bit.
- 8:21Adam: That was from RAR, so one of our favorites.
- 8:25Dedra: Yes.
- 8:26Adam: It was called the uh Deadstock Z core bat, which I have no idea what that means.
- 8:35Adam: Z Core bat?
- 8:36Adam: I don't know.
- 8:36Adam: But I did find it on Untapped, and it did have that description on there as part of the name.
- 8:41Adam: But uh that was a double New England hazy IPA, and that one was the heaviest.
- 8:45Adam: That was like at 9.1%.
- 8:46Adam: And when they poured that one, it was like a deep, deep yellow color.
- 8:51Adam: So yeah, that one was like more distinguisher than distinguisher?
- 8:55Adam: That was more distinguishable than all the rest of them.
- 8:59Adam: I can almost like pinpoint anybody else who poured that one.
- 9:02Adam: I was like, oh, know which one that one is.
- 9:04Dedra: Oh, for sure.
- 9:05Dedra: Yes.
- 9:06Adam: Yeah.
- 9:06Adam: And the good thing was, I mean, we were there with what, maybe six, eight other people.
- 9:12Dedra: Yeah.
- 9:12Adam: And I feel like because we're such a a a close group, all of us were like passing our cups around and oh, taste this one.
- 9:19Adam: Did you taste this one yet?
- 9:20Adam: So we did end up getting a lot more pour.
- 9:23Adam: So out of the, oh, I'm gonna say they had 25 beers on tap, maybe.
- 9:27Dedra: They had quite a bit.
- 9:28Adam: Yeah, we got to try, I'm gonna say more than half of them, just just by proxy.
- 9:33Adam: Um, one of our friends had a a blonde ale with a coffee.
- 9:37Adam: He was like a coffee blonde ale.
- 9:39Dedra: That was that was a trip because you do not expect it.
- 9:43Adam: Very true.
- 9:44Adam: Yes.
- 9:44Adam: And you drink it and you're like, whoa.
- 9:49Dedra: And uh there's that one with this at breakfast.
- 9:53Dedra: Forget about it.
- 9:53Dedra: Yeah, you're done.
- 9:56Adam: What does that mean?
- 9:57Adam: Forget about it.
- 9:58Dedra: You know, forget about it.
- 10:02Adam: But there was a coffee porter also, and that one I thought was really good.
- 10:05Adam: I actually like the porter even more, and I can't remember who made that one, but uh um, it was not one that we ordered, so it's a little bit harder to remember that.
- 10:15Adam: Yeah.
- 10:15Adam: And they had food there also, and that was really cool.
- 10:20Adam: I mean, they did smoked meats, so it was almost like a barbecue place.
- 10:25Adam: Um, those wings.
- 10:27Adam: I know you those I know you and your wings.
- 10:29Dedra: Yes, those wings were those wings were thick.
- 10:32Dedra: Yeah.
- 10:32Dedra: Like those those ones compared to um wherever we went the other day.
- 10:39Dedra: No, crazy mics.
- 10:40Dedra: Oh, yeah.
- 10:41Dedra: So their wings um at Crazy Mics and the wings at Sleepy Whale almost kind of rival, but I think Sleepy Whale might have a little bit more meat on them.
- 10:53Adam: Yeah, those are those are those were those were thick.
- 10:56Dedra: Those were like almost drumsticks.
- 10:57Dedra: Yeah, they were probably meatier than an actual drumstick.
- 11:01Adam: Yeah.
- 11:02Adam: I think I even actually mentioned that.
- 11:04Adam: I was like, it kind of tastes like a turkey leg that you'd get at the fair or the Renaissance festival.
- 11:09Adam: They used uh hickory smoke in that.
- 11:12Adam: You could really taste it.
- 11:14Adam: And yeah, they were good.
- 11:15Adam: They were big.
- 11:15Adam: Not like where were we at?
- 11:17Adam: Where they had those little dinky wings.
- 11:18Adam: It was Bubba 33.
- 11:20Adam: Yeah.
- 11:20Adam: We were like, like gnawing on those little tiny.
- 11:26Dedra: It was it was it was kind of sad.
- 11:28Dedra: Yeah, you're like, what are we eating baby chickens?
- 11:31Dedra: Yeah, and I honestly felt terrible because I was just like, can you imagine how tiny the chickens were that they yanked these legs off of?
- 11:38Dedra: Wings?
- 11:38Dedra: And now it's yeah, and it's now on our plate.
- 11:41Dedra: And I was like, oh man.
- 11:45Adam: So the ones we got over there at Sleepy Whale, were they like uh hormone, hormone-induced ones or something?
- 11:51Dedra: Oh no, but like they were thick, they were like probably about that big around, like, no joke.
- 11:57Dedra: And they weren't like huge, like long wings, they were regular size wings, but the the chicken thighs, the chickens that these wings came off of, good lord.
- 12:07Dedra: I could only buff chicken.
- 12:09Dedra: Right?
- 12:11Dedra: Goodness.
- 12:12Dedra: He must work out.
- 12:18Adam: Oh yeah, they were they were good though.
- 12:20Adam: And we'd got a dry rub, and it wasn't typical where it was just like coated in salt, also.
- 12:25Adam: And I think they might have deep fried it after they smoked it and then kind of put the dry rub on top of that, but it kind of melted into the uh to the outer layer, I felt, also.
- 12:36Adam: It was good.
- 12:37Dedra: I liked that concept.
- 12:38Adam: It was a little bit spicy, yeah.
- 12:39Adam: Not much, but it was still like really good, and it wasn't too salty, and I think that was the biggest thing with that.
- 12:45Dedra: Yes, because you can get wings from some places where the wings are just too salty.
- 12:49Adam: Yeah, and that sucks.
- 12:50Dedra: So we ordered the wings, and then we also ordered brisket sandwich.
- 12:57Adam: I had to think about that.
- 12:58Adam: And they put a lot on that, so they had like lettuce, tomato, they put like a whole bunch of mayonnaise.
- 13:05Dedra: And that I think was one of the breaking points.
- 13:07Dedra: Like we we really enjoyed it, and we had ordered ours with you know with a fried egg.
- 13:12Dedra: But one of our friends there had mentioned that they had put a tomato on their sandwich, and that was really just like the the small game changer that just kind of made it a little bit lighter because they did put mayonnaise on there.
- 13:25Dedra: And with the meat for being as heavy as it is, the sandwich in itself can be heavy.
- 13:30Dedra: But they also added, you know, a little bit of lettuce.
- 13:32Dedra: Um, but that tomato, and I'm not really a tomato person, but that tomato really did make that sandwich like it gave it a little something extra you didn't know it was missing.
- 13:42Adam: Yeah, we had an egg on there, didn't we?
- 13:46Dedra: Oh no, I'm tripping.
- 13:48Dedra: That was when we went to Bubba's Bubba 33.
- 13:52Adam: Man, I don't remember that.
- 13:53Adam: We're getting our places crossed.
- 13:57Adam: But the brisket, on the other hand, I didn't think it had like a lot of flavor to that.
- 14:04Adam: And um, maybe they just didn't put a lot of the rub on there.
- 14:08Adam: Sometimes brisket, you know, you I mean you want that coated like salt and pepper, where it looks like you just drop the brisket inside of sand.
- 14:15Adam: And that absorbs into the meat and adds a lot of flavor.
- 14:19Adam: And the smoke kind of adds to that, you know, as as it all the drippings and stuff kind of just soak through.
- 14:25Adam: Right.
- 14:25Adam: And I think that that's probably what it is.
- 14:28Adam: Maybe they or that if they did a dry rub, maybe they just didn't let it rest with the rub on there.
- 14:32Adam: Because I think it's good when you um smoke brisket specifically, that you need to let it sit for like 24 hours before you really um before you cook it, because you want those flavors to like absorb into the meat.
- 14:46Adam: And I think that's probably um what happened, but I don't know, I'm no expert.
- 14:51Adam: But I enjoyed the sandwich.
- 14:53Adam: I mean, they had a brioche bun that came with it, so it was like hamburger style with all the brisket inside there and all the toppings, and it was a good, it was a good meal to have, especially with uh some beer to drink at the same time.
- 15:04Adam: Yeah, no, I'm like my mouth's like just watering.
- 15:07Adam: No, no, no, it's because of this this uh rhubarb strawberry, whatever.
- 15:12Dedra: It's so good.
- 15:13Dedra: That and that rhubarb, gosh, I didn't think I would like it so much in a beer, but it's like because we had some, I think, oh also over the weekend, another beer that had rhubarb in it, and it was just like it's kind of starting to be my thing.
- 15:28Adam: Rhubarb, who would have thought?
- 15:30Dedra: I've never had a piece of rhubarb in my life, only in my beer.
- 15:34Dedra: And I think that's the only way I'm gonna take it.
- 15:38Adam: Like rhubarb pie.
- 15:39Adam: I that's a popular thing.
- 15:40Adam: I don't know.
- 15:41Adam: I've never had it.
- 15:42Dedra: Me neither.
- 15:43Dedra: Just keep it in my beer and I'm happy.
- 15:46Adam: Yeah.
- 15:48Adam: But we had some can pores too after that.
- 15:50Adam: So after we ate and everything.
- 15:51Dedra: I got quite a few can pours.
- 15:53Adam: We did, yeah.
- 15:53Adam: And we did some, you know, a little bit of extra share.
- 15:56Adam: So one of the can pours that I got, and the one of my favorites actually, while I was there, uh, there's some North Park ones that were really good, but it was from Ten Barn Brewing.
- 16:08Adam: And I've never had it before, never even seen it before.
- 16:11Adam: I believe it was out of New York, and it was called Juice and Stampede, and the label was like a whole bunch of like jungle animals.
- 16:20Adam: And maybe I was just thinking of Ace Ventura when I picked up that can.
- 16:24Adam: I'm like, oh yeah, this is gonna be the one.
- 16:26Adam: All right, so what was I thinking?
- 16:29Adam: A can full of jungle animals, and I was thinking, oh, this beer is gonna be good.
- 16:36Dedra: I don't know, jungle animals and beer go to me if you ask me.
- 16:39Adam: Yeah, but it was called Juice and Stampede.
- 16:43Adam: So I was like, all right, well, it fits.
- 16:45Adam: And uh it was uh really good bo beer.
- 16:49Adam: So I I poured it or I did the full can pour on that one.
- 16:52Adam: And sipping on that, it was a really nice hazy IPA, just very drinkable.
- 16:58Adam: I killed that thing so fast.
- 17:02Dedra: Did I even get a taster?
- 17:03Adam: Yes, you did.
- 17:04Dedra: Oh, okay.
- 17:04Adam: I I get we were passing it back and forth, but you got a beer too, and I think I only got one sip of that before you sucked it down.
- 17:12Dedra: Yes, so of course, if I ever you know get the opportunity and they've got Drecker, I'm gonna have it at some point.
- 17:18Dedra: I'm gonna have it.
- 17:19Dedra: So I did get Drecker, and it was their mango orange banana brains, and that was always, always amazing.
- 17:28Adam: Anytime I get anything from Drecker, but I feel like the way they spell it on the can, they go brain.
- 17:38Dedra: Well, my throat's a little bit sore, so I wasn't gonna do that hard A.
- 17:43Adam: I gotcha.
- 17:44Dedra: So thank you.
- 17:45Adam: Um I got one sip of it.
- 17:47Adam: You look back and it was gone.
- 17:50Dedra: No, I was we're passing it around.
- 17:52Adam: Oh, sure.
- 17:53Adam: Now I'm not a big dessert per person, specifically with like bread pudding.
- 17:59Dedra: Yeah.
- 17:59Adam: Not something I've ever ordered really, but they had one there that was like, what was it?
- 18:05Adam: Caramel vanilla ice cream, bread pudding with bacon sprinkled on top.
- 18:12Dedra: Yeah.
- 18:13Adam: And I noticed that on a lot of their menu items, it just had bacon sprinkled on a whole bunch of random things.
- 18:20Dedra: You know, I would have liked a little across my beer.
- 18:23Adam: Yeah, that would have been good.
- 18:24Adam: They had like a potato salad with bacon on top of it.
- 18:28Adam: They had that bread pudding with bacon on it.
- 18:30Dedra: And I'm sure we sprinkled some on our brisket sandwich.
- 18:33Dedra: That would have been great.
- 18:36Adam: That would have been that would have added that little flavor punch that I was looking for on that one.
- 18:40Dedra: You're not wrong.
- 18:41Dedra: You need some water?
- 18:42Dedra: Here you go.
- 18:43Dedra: Sprinkle some bacon on me.
- 18:44Adam: There you go.
- 18:44Adam: You're done.
- 18:45Adam: But the place was really cool.
- 18:49Adam: So it was really cool.
- 18:50Adam: Yeah, where it's yeah, where it's at is there's it's like a strip mall almost, but the two buildings are kind of perpendicular, and you have to kind of go almost inside, and it's like in that back little corner.
- 19:03Adam: So it's like the corner spot.
- 19:05Adam: They have a little courtyard right out front with like fake grass, a bunch of misters and tables outside.
- 19:11Adam: It was way too hot for us to even enjoy, even with misters, but it's a really neat area.
- 19:16Adam: If it was cooler outside, that'd be a really fun place to hang out.
- 19:19Dedra: That yes, that would be great because the building, the sun, would actually block the the building would block the sun in the evening, but they have this huge roll-up door.
- 19:29Dedra: So I think once it does cool off, they'll open that door and it's gonna be so nice in there.
- 19:35Dedra: And it's a it seats quite a bit of people, actually.
- 19:38Dedra: Like the inside has got some pretty good space on the outside patio.
- 19:42Dedra: That's gonna hold a lot of people too.
- 19:44Adam: Yeah, absolutely.
- 19:45Adam: I mean, just for us uh when we showed up there, it was three tables that we kind of took over, and it was all go up to the bar in order, but the lady was nice enough where she kept coming up to the our table and help us helping us out at the table too.
- 19:58Adam: Really neat spot.
- 19:59Adam: I mean, all the all the tables I think inside were like the low top right uh standard, but then they had the bar that you can sit uh sit at, and I believe it wrapped around the corner, didn't it?
- 20:09Dedra: It did, it did, and it had like a an L shape to it.
- 20:11Dedra: And they also had a couple TVs in there, you know, for sports for those of you that want to go in there and watch, you know, some sports, I guess.
- 20:18Dedra: But we were there with a big group, so we're all just busy having fun, talking, enjoying each other's company.
- 20:23Adam: There's some college football on.
- 20:24Dedra: So at the beginning of October, the sun's actually kick off.
- 20:27Dedra: So we're gonna be jam-packed with sports here pretty soon with football, basketball, and baseball, and a little bit of baseball.
- 20:34Adam: Yeah, that's right.
- 20:35Dedra: I know we're gonna be heaven and ASU.
- 20:38Adam: Very true.
- 20:38Adam: Yeah.
- 20:39Dedra: So college, college also.
- 20:41Adam: Yeah, that started actually last weekend.
- 20:43Adam: Right.
- 20:43Dedra: And I was like, we're gonna be MIA here pretty soon with all these sports on.
- 20:48Adam: It's gonna be really hard to record if it was a game on.
- 20:50Adam: I don't know what we're gonna do.
- 20:51Dedra: All these sports.
- 20:54Adam: No, that just means nobody's gonna watch either because they're gonna be watching their sports too.
- 20:58Dedra: Oh man.
- 20:59Adam: I'm just kidding.
- 21:00Adam: How you know, how are you gonna know your next place to go, right?
- 21:04Adam: But um, one of the beers I'm gonna highlight again that, or not again, one of the beers that it was a share.
- 21:12Adam: Um, somebody bought a bottle of it, and it's probably one of the best ones that I drank while I was there.
- 21:17Adam: I had the Porters, I had I don't know how many IPAs over there.
- 21:21Adam: This one was from Pure Project.
- 21:23Adam: It was called Campfire, uh Campfire Classic, and they made it like a s'mores type beer.
- 21:32Adam: So it was marshmallow, uh the cocoa nibs, and grandcracker.
- 21:36Adam: So they added all those flavors in there.
- 21:38Adam: It's pretty cool.
- 21:39Adam: Again, I didn't purchase that one, but I'm guessing it was in upwards to between 13 and 15% for sure.
- 21:45Dedra: Oh, yeah.
- 21:46Dedra: I'm gonna say it it has to be.
- 21:47Dedra: Yeah.
- 21:50Adam: Um, but all three of the places, and I think they might have a fourth.
- 21:54Adam: Was it Beer Barn?
- 21:54Adam: That's I think another place on the east side, but Sleepy Whale, um Uptown Phoenix, Sleepy Well, Gilbert Chandler, wherever the heck that is, The Theodore, Wandering Tortoise.
- 22:08Adam: I mean, this company, they are really doing a great job at bringing craft beer.
- 22:13Adam: And it you can get stuff to go.
- 22:17Adam: You can get stuff, you know, can pours while you're there.
- 22:19Adam: They got stuff on tap.
- 22:20Adam: I mean, it's just wonderful.
- 22:22Dedra: Ridiculous.
- 22:23Dedra: They had, I want to say, like, I think, because you got that set of coolers when you first walk in, and then they got another set of coolers near their register, also.
- 22:31Dedra: Yeah.
- 22:31Dedra: So that was like what a total of six, five?
- 22:35Dedra: Because was it three coolers and two by their register?
- 22:39Dedra: It was a lot of coolers.
- 22:42Dedra: They had a lot of a lot of Drecker, a lot of North Park.
- 22:45Dedra: Go there if you need a North Park fix and you're you're near that location, definitely go there, check them out.
- 22:52Dedra: And just check out the ambiance of the place.
- 22:54Dedra: It's super cool.
- 22:55Adam: Yeah, they had a whole bunch of like Bergion, they had a whole bunch of North Park, and I'm trying to see think of some other uh some of the other ones they had while we were there.
- 23:04Adam: And can you remember like what featured breweries I feel like they had a bunch of?
- 23:10Dedra: No, just the North Park.
- 23:11Dedra: That one just stood out the most.
- 23:13Adam: Yeah.
- 23:13Adam: There was that Saturated Solutions by North Park that I ended up well, didn't I just have that like the week before when we were over there at Trevor's, actually?
- 23:22Adam: Oh yeah.
- 23:23Dedra: Yeah.
- 23:24Adam: That one was really good.
- 23:25Adam: We were just we just had that with somebody else and they said it tastes like celery.
- 23:29Adam: I'm like, what?
- 23:31Adam: It's so random.
- 23:32Adam: He goes, Do you like celery?
- 23:34Adam: I was like, yeah.
- 23:34Adam: And he's all well you like that one.
- 23:36Adam: And I'm like, it does not taste like celery.
- 23:38Adam: That was really really random.
- 23:42Adam: No, but it was uh we had a great time.
- 23:46Adam: I mean, it was a it was a really enjoyable day, and actually spending we we spent there a couple hours there.
- 23:51Adam: I think we were there right when they opened.
- 23:52Adam: So easily a couple hours.
- 23:54Adam: Yeah, 11 o'clock, I think.
- 23:55Adam: We were there maybe 11 15 or so and just sat there and enjoyed our afternoon.
- 24:00Adam: I mean, we ate lunch there and just uh had all the tastings and got to share with everybody else, and that was a really fun place to just sit and hang out.
- 24:10Dedra: It was, it was.
- 24:11Dedra: I would definitely go back there and do it again.
- 24:13Adam: Yep, can't wait.
- 24:14Adam: I hope you I hope I'm invited.
- 24:17Dedra: Uh yes.
- 24:20Dedra: I'll need a driver.
- 24:22Dedra: Hey.
- 24:26Adam: But yeah, please check it out.
- 24:27Adam: That place is wonderful, and uh maybe you'll run India there for sure.
- 24:32Adam: Um, I'm actually really surprised that this beer lasted the entire time.
- 24:38Dedra: You know what?
- 24:39Dedra: This is gonna be super random.
- 24:40Dedra: Um, I just took a a good drink of this, and I think now that it's not so cold, it reminds me of the flavor of raspberry applesauce.
- 24:52Adam: I can see that.
- 24:54Dedra: Raspberry strawberry, strawberry applesauce.
- 24:57Adam: Strawberry applesauce beer.
- 24:59Adam: Yeah.
- 25:00Dedra: Because it's it's thick, like it, it's thick like the applesauce kind of, but it has like that hint.
- 25:05Dedra: I don't know.
- 25:06Dedra: Do with what what you will with that comment.
- 25:08Dedra: It's good, regardless of what what I said.
- 25:11Dedra: I like strawberry applesauce.
- 25:13Adam: So well, it said it has cinnamon?
- 25:16Adam: I don't know, man.
- 25:18Adam: It says it had cinnamon in there also.
- 25:20Adam: So most of the time there's cinnamon in your applesauce also.
- 25:24Dedra: That is true.
- 25:24Dedra: Maybe that's why it's coming through.
- 25:26Dedra: Like all of a sudden, like my brain's all like it just clicks.
- 25:31Adam: So forget what I said about the rhubarb.
- 25:33Adam: No, this is just applesauce, is what it is.
- 25:35Dedra: Strawberry applesauce.
- 25:36Adam: Yeah, and it is good.
- 25:37Adam: I'm enjoying it.
- 25:39Dedra: With uh 6.5% alcohol.
- 25:42Dedra: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:43Dedra: If I'm gonna eat applesauce, it better be 6.5%.
- 25:48Adam: The next few weeks we got some amazing stuff coming up.
- 25:50Adam: So um, new brewery next week, which wasn't our first time there, and another trip to the east side for some more breweries.
- 26:00Adam: So we got some really good stuff coming up.
- 26:01Adam: So cheers, everybody.
- 26:03Adam: Can't wait to do this again.
- 26:04Dedra: Cheers, guys.
- 26:05Dedra: Love you.
- 26:07Adam: Oh, yeah.
