- 0:00Speaker 1: The following program is produced by the tech Talk Radio Network.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to another episode of tech Talk Radio.
- 0:08Speaker 2: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Weird, and I'm Matt Jones.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Great to see you, Matt. We missed you last week.
- 0:13Speaker 1: You know, we kind of took a little liberty because
- 0:16Speaker 1: we knew that you were in wire rewiring.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Heck, I saw the picture. Yeah, the picture was accurate.
- 0:23Speaker 2: That was pretty accurate, right, was that was pretty accurate?
- 0:25Speaker 1: Yeah. We went into Dali and we asked it. You know,
- 0:28Speaker 1: I know Matt's going through. Showed me a picture of
- 0:30Speaker 1: a guy just buried in cables, and one of them
- 0:33Speaker 1: that showed the guy's face, and I said, no, no,
- 0:35Speaker 1: hide the face. And then that's what.
- 0:37Speaker 3: It came up with.
- 0:38Speaker 2: It's not hiding the face, it's hiding the tears, all right.
- 0:43Speaker 1: So what is pretty amazing, though, is what you ended
- 0:47Speaker 1: up coming up with. And we do have photos from
- 0:49Speaker 1: last week on the blog of what you eventually created,
- 0:53Speaker 1: and I got to say, it's pretty amazing.
- 0:55Speaker 2: When my wife and I first moved into this house,
- 0:58Speaker 2: I the basement wasn't finn and that's where I'm at
- 1:01Speaker 2: right now. It's done in our basement, So I was
- 1:03Speaker 2: in the other bedroom. We had finally got to do
- 1:06Speaker 2: the culmination of my dream of like a workplay gaming cave,
- 1:12Speaker 2: and it was great. But then you know, the basement
- 1:14Speaker 2: got finished, we had people staying over more often. We
- 1:16Speaker 2: ended up having a roommate for a little while, and
- 1:18Speaker 2: it was like, why am I hogging this big old
- 1:21Speaker 2: honkin room with its own bathroom instead of going to
- 1:24Speaker 2: the one downstairs where I probably should be. So I
- 1:27Speaker 2: ended up around Actually I think I've been down here
- 1:31Speaker 2: for about a year now. But when I moved down
- 1:33Speaker 2: one of the things I wanted was a big floating desk,
- 1:37Speaker 2: So I used two foot by one inch diameter black
- 1:41Speaker 2: just cast iron pipe that you can get at like
- 1:44Speaker 2: home Depot loves whatever. And I got the flanges, you know,
- 1:49Speaker 2: just had a little circular disc that they screw into
- 1:52Speaker 2: and mounted all those to the wall. Now, if I
- 1:54Speaker 2: could go back listeners, the one thing I would do
- 1:56Speaker 2: different would be to lag bolt a two by a
- 1:59Speaker 2: four to the studs and then mount the flanges to
- 2:04Speaker 2: the two by four As it is to the flanges
- 2:06Speaker 2: are now either mounted to the studs or with like
- 2:09Speaker 2: four one hundred pound test anchors per flange, right that
- 2:14Speaker 2: being said, my gaming tower was pretty beefy, and there
- 2:18Speaker 2: would still be days where I'd walk down here and
- 2:20Speaker 2: like put my weight on the desk and you just
- 2:21Speaker 2: hear like that the creek hit that one note too
- 2:26Speaker 2: high where you're just like, oh, okay, well, what.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Kind of case you were running? A? Not a half
- 2:32Speaker 1: nine thirty two or anything like that? Was it? I
- 2:34Speaker 1: mean that?
- 2:34Speaker 2: No, I used to run a half nine thirty two.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Actually I had the original half air case and I
- 2:40Speaker 2: love that thing, but this was a thermal take view
- 2:44Speaker 2: thirty seven. I think it still had some weight to it.
- 2:47Speaker 2: And then one day I saw this YouTube video and
- 2:49Speaker 2: I was like, oh, I could rack mount stuff. Oh
- 2:51Speaker 2: I could rack mount stuff. So we used a little
- 2:55Speaker 2: bit of money that came in, picked up the cases
- 2:57Speaker 2: and you know, some new components, and yeah, we decided
- 2:59Speaker 2: just breakdown because my computer was on top of the desk,
- 3:02Speaker 2: my wife's was underneath the desk. So I broke both
- 3:05Speaker 2: of them down, racked them because when I was still
- 3:08Speaker 2: streaming on Twitch, those computers were actually connected in a
- 3:11Speaker 2: various number of ways to be my whole studio, and
- 3:14Speaker 2: I was like, oh, if I rack them, then like
- 3:17Speaker 2: doing that. So much easier. Well, one of the big
- 3:20Speaker 2: decisions I made is I was doing all this is
- 3:21Speaker 2: I officially have shut down Captain Oblivious. I've decided I
- 3:26Speaker 2: am no longer streaming on Twitch. I haven't done it
- 3:29Speaker 2: in ages. It's it was fun when I did it,
- 3:31Speaker 2: but now I'm just going to play games for me.
- 3:33Speaker 2: But everything's working great. The cabling's fine, the airflow's good,
- 3:38Speaker 2: you know that. I'm happy.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Man.
- 3:39Speaker 1: That's what the first thing when you told me that
- 3:42Speaker 1: you were going to move into a rack mounted case,
- 3:44Speaker 1: and I have a rackmounted case, and I remember I
- 3:47Speaker 1: set it up in our original office and I was
- 3:50Speaker 1: using it and then you know, it takes it does
- 3:52Speaker 1: take up the desk space. I didn't do it like
- 3:54Speaker 1: you did, actually mounted at a rack. I put it
- 3:56Speaker 1: on top of the desk, and I remember, like thinking airflow.
- 4:01Speaker 1: You know, when we think of a gaming computer, we
- 4:03Speaker 1: think of the acrylic, We think of this being able
- 4:06Speaker 1: to see inside in the RGB lights, and I think
- 4:10Speaker 1: of a RAQ.
- 4:11Speaker 3: I mean, I think of it being a server.
- 4:12Speaker 1: And you just said, no, this actually the airflow and
- 4:16Speaker 1: everything will work good in a rack amounted case as well.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Yes, So the way I've actually got mine. I have
- 4:23Speaker 2: both configured, both computers configured pretty much the same way.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I have a an all in one three sixty milimeter
- 4:32Speaker 2: CPU liquid cooler, and I've got the radiator mounted to
- 4:36Speaker 2: the very front. And I know some people when they
- 4:39Speaker 2: hear this are going to be like, wait, you're not
- 4:40Speaker 2: using the radiator as the exhaust. I know. Anyways, so
- 4:43Speaker 2: the air gets pulled in through the radiator goes in
- 4:46Speaker 2: the case and then I've got two they're two eighty
- 4:50Speaker 2: milimeter but high volume fans in the back as an
- 4:55Speaker 2: exhaust and putting my hand back there like it pumps
- 4:58Speaker 2: air through. Everything's happy. I haven't had any alerts. The
- 5:02Speaker 2: only thing that irritated me, oh there there are no
- 5:08Speaker 2: Wi Fi seven drivers for Windows ten and they have
- 5:13Speaker 2: no intentions of releasing them.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Oh really, so it's gonna be one of those Oh
- 5:17Speaker 1: you gotta get to eleven.
- 5:19Speaker 2: They finally got me. I've made it all the way
- 5:23Speaker 2: until last week and now I'm on Windows eleven, So
- 5:27Speaker 2: good job Microsoft. I'm looking at Windows ten and the
- 5:30Speaker 2: device managers just like, I don't recognize this network controller.
- 5:33Speaker 2: And I looked everywhere and everybody was like, yeah, that's
- 5:37Speaker 2: how they're getting us sorry, bud wow.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Now even even the manufacturer of the Wi Fi seven
- 5:44Speaker 1: it's stilln wow.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Yeah. I went to so I used Gigabyte for my
- 5:49Speaker 2: new board. I went there and tried to pull down
- 5:51Speaker 2: a network driver. As soon as you changed it from
- 5:53Speaker 2: Windows eleven to Windows ten, the driver disappeared. If you
- 5:56Speaker 2: tried to install it with the Windows eleven driver, which
- 5:59Speaker 2: they say can be backwards compatible. Well, the Wi Fi
- 6:02Speaker 2: once aren't. And then I found out the manufacture of
- 6:07Speaker 2: the Wi Fi chip and once you try and pull
- 6:08Speaker 2: it down from them and they were like nah, sorry
- 6:10Speaker 2: dog whoa.
- 6:12Speaker 1: And now I wanted to ask in the picture and
- 6:14Speaker 1: again our listeners can go to blog dot.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Tech, talk radio dot com. The picture.
- 6:18Speaker 1: You have a ring a ring light and in the
- 6:20Speaker 1: center of it it looked like you had a DSLR.
- 6:23Speaker 3: I do is that being used as your webcam?
- 6:27Speaker 2: That is my webcam and it is a Sony zv
- 6:32Speaker 2: E ten. It is a mirrorless SLR. But the thing
- 6:37Speaker 2: is the Sony zb E ten was originally designed for
- 6:40Speaker 2: blogging and vlogging, so it actually when you guys were
- 6:44Speaker 2: talking last week about like cameras having the USB input,
- 6:48Speaker 2: when covid hit I used to have a Canon and
- 6:52Speaker 2: use that until Canon decided now that we're in a
- 6:56Speaker 2: post COVID world, that product should not be free anymore.
- 7:00Speaker 2: And the free version they pushed an update that basically
- 7:03Speaker 2: bricked it, and you have to do the paid version
- 7:07Speaker 2: now that costs either like you know, two bucks a
- 7:09Speaker 2: month or like twenty five dollars a year. Sony's image
- 7:13Speaker 2: Edge software was free. But then I found this camera
- 7:16Speaker 2: and it actually has a built in USB streaming mode wow,
- 7:21Speaker 2: where you can actually so I've got a USBC plugged
- 7:24Speaker 2: into it that goes straight into my computer and a
- 7:29Speaker 2: dummy battery in there that is basically just a way
- 7:32Speaker 2: they use a power pack. So it's always plugged in,
- 7:35Speaker 2: always powered on, and it just goes straight through. I
- 7:38Speaker 2: don't need image Edge, I don't need anything. It just
- 7:40Speaker 2: natively recognizes the camera. You know. I changed the settings
- 7:44Speaker 2: on it to do you know, eye tracking and more
- 7:47Speaker 2: light balancing and things, and you know, as you can see,
- 7:50Speaker 2: the background is softened just that ever so slightly. But
- 7:53Speaker 2: I've I've been using this thing for years.
- 7:55Speaker 3: I love it.
- 7:56Speaker 1: You know. It's funny because the listener Steve reached out
- 7:59Speaker 1: to me because in the show. I was talking about
- 8:02Speaker 1: how I have the Logitech Brio four K and I
- 8:06Speaker 1: like the cameras from Logitech. They've been great, you know,
- 8:09Speaker 1: I've been using him since. Actually, I'll be honest with you,
- 8:12Speaker 1: I had the Connectic's Quick Cam and then it became
- 8:15Speaker 1: Logitech the four K.
- 8:16Speaker 3: It's just I was complaining because.
- 8:18Speaker 1: If I compare the quality between yours, which looks great Justin's.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I don't know if you saw his video the.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I took a look at it.
- 8:28Speaker 1: The capture was pretty good. The live was even better.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Sean's camera looks good, but mine. Miss watched out and
- 8:36Speaker 1: he actually got in touch with me and he said,
- 8:38Speaker 1: you know, your problem may not be the camera, and
- 8:40Speaker 1: maybe you're lighting. And he said, what kind of lighting
- 8:42Speaker 1: are you running? And I said, well, I'm just running.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I've got five lights that are just regular light bulbs
- 8:49Speaker 1: that are above me, seventy five whit bulbs. He goes,
- 8:51Speaker 1: that's it. He said, change your lighting and you might
- 8:53Speaker 1: be more happier with the result of what that camera
- 8:56Speaker 1: is able.
- 8:56Speaker 3: To give you.
- 8:58Speaker 2: And I mean, for example, so this one, this is
- 9:01Speaker 2: just with the ring light. I used to have a
- 9:03Speaker 2: second light, an Algatto key light air over sitting behind
- 9:08Speaker 2: the second monitor to hit me from my right side.
- 9:11Speaker 2: I took it down when I did the reorg. But
- 9:14Speaker 2: if you look, I mean just turning off the ring
- 9:16Speaker 2: light and the drastic difference. Oh that that makes Look
- 9:19Speaker 2: at that because now you've got the light from my monitor,
- 9:22Speaker 2: you've got the light from above. It messes with the
- 9:24Speaker 2: depth of field and everything. But then as soon as
- 9:26Speaker 2: I pop that back on. And the other thing I
- 9:29Speaker 2: did is the camera is I set the camera color
- 9:35Speaker 2: for forty five hundred K, and I can control the
- 9:38Speaker 2: color of this light as well, and I matched it
- 9:40Speaker 2: so it's picking it like it's tuned in at forty
- 9:44Speaker 2: five hundred K. And my light showing at forty five
- 9:47Speaker 2: hundred K as well helped give it a really nice
- 9:49Speaker 2: soft look.
- 9:50Speaker 3: For somebody like you. Look at Sean set up.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Sean, you do you have an actual like a ring
- 9:55Speaker 1: light or a focus light on you.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it's a ring light. It's about seven inch
- 10:00Speaker 4: across maybe, so it's a decent sized ring light, and
- 10:02Speaker 4: it's sitting right behind my camera. My camera's not in
- 10:04Speaker 4: the middle. My camera's a little bit lower. Yeah, it's
- 10:06Speaker 4: just a I mean, I think I paid fifteen dollars
- 10:09Speaker 4: for it on Amazon, to be honest. Yeah, and I
- 10:11Speaker 4: can do it in steps. I can't I can't see
- 10:14Speaker 4: what the color temperature is, but I can just do
- 10:17Speaker 4: it in steps. And I kind of just picked what
- 10:19Speaker 4: I thought looked good, and my camera is set to auto, right.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Kind I kind of want wonder then maybe in situations,
- 10:29Speaker 1: should somebody then just turn off all the lights and
- 10:31Speaker 1: just use the ring light or a if they have
- 10:34Speaker 1: a ring light or a the Logitech has that bar
- 10:36Speaker 1: light as well, just use that instead.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean you're still gonna get You're still you're
- 10:43Speaker 4: still limited by the sensor size, right, You're still limited
- 10:45Speaker 4: by the if it has an actual physical aperture or not, right,
- 10:50Speaker 4: because if you can actually shut the physical or open
- 10:52Speaker 4: the physical aperture a little bit, you're gonna get a
- 10:54Speaker 4: little bit that of that boca, the blurriness of the
- 10:59Speaker 4: depth of field. Yeah, you're kind of limited on webcams
- 11:02Speaker 4: because they're you're they're cheap ish for a reason, and
- 11:06Speaker 4: that is their their physical lens structure.
- 11:09Speaker 1: And what they're they're made to do now, correct Now,
- 11:12Speaker 1: I'm wondering, Matt, like when it came to uh. When
- 11:15Speaker 1: it came to your wiring, your cabling, I know that
- 11:17Speaker 1: was a big undertaking. You didn't just want to string
- 11:20Speaker 1: everything just on the floor behind, you know, behind everything.
- 11:23Speaker 1: You decided to do it the right way.
- 11:25Speaker 2: I did it the right way, and I went through
- 11:29Speaker 2: so very many zip ties that I made sure to
- 11:33Speaker 2: flush cut every single one of them as God intended,
- 11:37Speaker 2: because I have scars covered up by both of these
- 11:40Speaker 2: tattoos from reaching into racks where somebody didn't. But I
- 11:46Speaker 2: ended up finding a cool little kit online and I
- 11:50Speaker 2: used this when I first built this desk. But it
- 11:52Speaker 2: actually comes with like a circular coreing bit and just
- 11:56Speaker 2: punches a nice like two inch diameter hole uh out
- 12:00Speaker 2: of your drywall and then as a piece that fits
- 12:02Speaker 2: in there, and you, you know, you do the screws
- 12:05Speaker 2: and they butterfly open and seal it in place. And
- 12:07Speaker 2: then there's a plastic gasket you can put over there.
- 12:10Speaker 2: So I've got all my cables either running in the
- 12:14Speaker 2: wall behind my monitors or some of the stuff that's
- 12:16Speaker 2: on the desk. It goes under the desk and then
- 12:19Speaker 2: I've got that all zip tied and bundled and across.
- 12:23Speaker 2: But other than really two spots and they're both tied
- 12:26Speaker 2: to my wife's computer. You can't see any of the
- 12:29Speaker 2: cables because that's how I want it. I want it
- 12:32Speaker 2: super clean and pretty and nice.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Now, I gotta say, talking about the flush cutting of
- 12:37Speaker 1: the zip ties, Sean, that what a subject that was,
- 12:41Speaker 1: because that has garnered one of the most most viewed
- 12:45Speaker 1: segments of the show because of just it touched a
- 12:50Speaker 1: lot of people.
- 12:51Speaker 3: They've all been through it.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Zero commented on on our TikTok page thing not if
- 12:57Speaker 1: you do them right, My zip ties break before they
- 12:59Speaker 1: come undone.
- 13:00Speaker 2: And.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Is that a good thing? I forty five them.
- 13:04Speaker 1: So I think he's somebody who likes to make sure
- 13:07Speaker 1: somebody gets a jagged edge in their arm. Mike Gasser wrote,
- 13:11Speaker 1: using zip ties in a rack should be a fireball
- 13:14Speaker 1: of fence.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Use velcrow.
- 13:16Speaker 4: I would say to that comment about fl crow. Use
- 13:21Speaker 4: this is what I was taught in the years I've been.
- 13:24Speaker 1: In the industry.
- 13:25Speaker 4: You use selcrow for fiber optics because of the bend radius,
- 13:30Speaker 4: because if you pinch them too tight with with zip ties,
- 13:33Speaker 4: it can break the internal glass strands.
- 13:35Speaker 3: All right, anything else.
- 13:36Speaker 4: Is fair game for zip ties.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Yeah, all right? If we got another one too. I
- 13:41Speaker 1: like this one. This one guy mirror Riker said to you, shun,
- 13:45Speaker 1: suck it up, Buttercup, that slack has function.
- 13:49Speaker 2: No it doesn't.
- 13:52Speaker 4: If you do it right, you cut to length and
- 13:55Speaker 4: then underneath the rack, you leave yourself a nice service loop.
- 13:58Speaker 3: There you go.
- 13:59Speaker 1: I thought it was right, though I created a lot
- 14:01Speaker 1: of a lot of conversation about the flesh cutting those
- 14:05Speaker 1: and honestly I had no idea. I was left a
- 14:08Speaker 1: little bit on there, so I was doing them wrong.
- 14:10Speaker 4: I mean, I mean, anybody that has is saying suck
- 14:14Speaker 4: it up, Buttercup, has never cursed somebody's name, reaching into
- 14:18Speaker 4: the back of a racket slicing around open. I'm just
- 14:21Speaker 4: I mean, you just haven't. You can cry about it
- 14:24Speaker 4: all day long and say sucking up butter Cup, but
- 14:26Speaker 4: you just you just haven't put in the work.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I have sanctified more than one rack in my lifetime
- 14:31Speaker 2: that I had no desire to sanctify.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not fun.
- 14:36Speaker 2: No. I remember coming home from one and we had
- 14:41Speaker 2: moved a rack. We had moved three racks between data centers,
- 14:44Speaker 2: and we were trying to do it in one day.
- 14:47Speaker 2: And I think I got home at like two am
- 14:49Speaker 2: and my wife who at the time she was at
- 14:52Speaker 2: the time she was my girlfriend. Damn, that was a
- 14:54Speaker 2: long time ago. And she just looks at me and
- 14:56Speaker 2: she was like, oh my god, what happened to you?
- 14:58Speaker 2: Did you get in like a fight in the parking lot?
- 14:59Speaker 2: And I'm like, now, I've been working in a server
- 15:02Speaker 2: rack all day. This is just how you look when
- 15:04Speaker 2: you're done.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Like, yeah, all right, well that that that isn't a
- 15:08Speaker 1: big pretty good now. One of the things we also
- 15:10Speaker 1: talked about last week was mechanical keyboards.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Uh.
- 15:14Speaker 1: And this was like, right up your alley and you
- 15:17Speaker 1: have a mechanical keyboard you wanted to tell us about.
- 15:20Speaker 3: That is something that should be something.
- 15:23Speaker 1: That this this lady whose son is saying, hey, mom,
- 15:26Speaker 1: I want a mechanical keyboard.
- 15:27Speaker 3: I need it. You're saying, yeah, this is this is
- 15:30Speaker 3: the one to.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Get technically, if if we're if we're being honest here,
- 15:35Speaker 2: because admitting you have a problem is the start of
- 15:37Speaker 2: fixing a problem. I have six mechanical keyboards well, uh,
- 15:41Speaker 2: scattered throughout my house. The one that I picked up though,
- 15:45Speaker 2: I found on my last trip to Microcenter, which, by
- 15:49Speaker 2: the way, my fellow techie people. Our trips to microcenter
- 15:52Speaker 2: are like handy people's trips to Low's or home depot.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Like you're not doing the project right if you don't
- 15:58Speaker 2: have to go back at least once.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, That's how it used to be.
- 16:03Speaker 3: With Fries. We have Fries Electronics out here.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Yeah h yeah, but I found this one. The company
- 16:09Speaker 2: is called keycron k E y C h R O N.
- 16:13Speaker 2: And with keyboards, it used to be keyboards came in
- 16:16Speaker 2: just one size. Yeah, the whole keyboard, number pad, everything
- 16:18Speaker 2: like that. That is considered a one hundred percent keyboard.
- 16:22Speaker 2: My favorite setup is usually somewhere between the seventy five
- 16:25Speaker 2: to eighty percent. So in this case, like I don't
- 16:29Speaker 2: have a number pad, I have a delete, a page up,
- 16:33Speaker 2: page down, and a home key. But then a lot
- 16:36Speaker 2: of keyboards will provide additional layers through the function key.
- 16:39Speaker 2: So for like me to use the end key, I
- 16:41Speaker 2: just hit function home. But this keyboard is the key
- 16:45Speaker 2: Cron V one max. It is a seventy five percent
- 16:49Speaker 2: keyboard with mechanical switches and it is just packed full
- 16:52Speaker 2: of features. I have it plugged in via USBC, which
- 16:57Speaker 2: allows it to charge the internal battery because it can
- 16:59Speaker 2: be wireless, but not just wireless like your usual like
- 17:03Speaker 2: like a Logitech where it's got the little dongle it
- 17:06Speaker 2: has that. It's got two of them. Actually, it has
- 17:08Speaker 2: one that's old school USBA on the other is USB C,
- 17:12Speaker 2: and then it's got a slot for both of them
- 17:14Speaker 2: to fit in the back that's almost flush, so if
- 17:17Speaker 2: you're not using it, you can just pop it and
- 17:19Speaker 2: store it in the keyboard without having to take a
- 17:21Speaker 2: case off or anything. Fully rechargeable internal battery, and it
- 17:25Speaker 2: can also be Bluetooth. It also has a neat little
- 17:27Speaker 2: switch that will switch between whether you want to use
- 17:30Speaker 2: it for Mac or you want to use it for Windows,
- 17:33Speaker 2: and the other thing it says on both of those
- 17:34Speaker 2: is iOS or Android, so it is compatible with everything.
- 17:38Speaker 1: So in essence, if somebody has their smartphone and they've
- 17:42Speaker 1: got it, you know, propped up or a tablet, say
- 17:44Speaker 1: whether it be an iOS, you know, iPad or whatever,
- 17:48Speaker 1: they can actually use that keyboard to type out on
- 17:52Speaker 1: the iPad or yes. The again nice nice and you
- 17:57Speaker 1: said the storage on it is there storage?
- 18:00Speaker 2: There's not storage per se. There is a there's online
- 18:06Speaker 2: software that you can access on key cron site called qmkuh,
- 18:10Speaker 2: and you can use that to actually configure and rewrite
- 18:14Speaker 2: the firmware on the keyboard. So the other thing that's
- 18:18Speaker 2: cool with mechanical keyboards is you know you can pop
- 18:22Speaker 2: off your key caps because with the mechanical keyboard you
- 18:26Speaker 2: have switches and then key caps that sit on top
- 18:28Speaker 2: of the switches. So if you want to do a
- 18:30Speaker 2: non standard layout, what we consider a standard layout is
- 18:34Speaker 2: your quirity QW E R T Y. Well, we all
- 18:37Speaker 2: learned to type on quirity keyboards came about to actually
- 18:41Speaker 2: slow down the human capability for typing with typewriters because
- 18:45Speaker 2: humans would type too fast with some of the first
- 18:48Speaker 2: layouts they did and would cause the typewriters to jam.
- 18:51Speaker 2: So Cordy is actually designed to slow you down. So
- 18:54Speaker 2: there are other non standard keyboard layouts you could do.
- 18:57Speaker 2: The two most popular are Devora and uh Cole Mack
- 19:02Speaker 2: coll Mac Yeah, Cole Mack. So you can go in
- 19:05Speaker 2: and rewrite the firmware for this keyboard to turn it
- 19:07Speaker 2: into those and then just switch the key caps around
- 19:10Speaker 2: and there you go.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Wow, pretty nice, And now I did well, you showed it.
- 19:15Speaker 3: To us earlier.
- 19:16Speaker 2: It did it, I can do it.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Let's uh, so the listeners can get a look if
- 19:19Speaker 1: they check out the video of the site. Now I
- 19:21Speaker 1: was looking at it, going okay, I have Steel series
- 19:24Speaker 1: uh you know, mechanical keyboard.
- 19:26Speaker 3: It lights up, but it's all beautiful. Does this light up?
- 19:29Speaker 3: Is it RGB?
- 19:30Speaker 2: If you look, you'll see it gently kind of here
- 19:32Speaker 2: in the shadows light up. If I switched out to
- 19:37Speaker 2: a see through uh set of key caps, it would
- 19:41Speaker 2: definitely shine a lot more. This one's a little different,
- 19:44Speaker 2: a lot of like Steel series uh, sean yours that
- 19:48Speaker 2: you showed up.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Uh.
- 19:49Speaker 2: They usually do north facing RGB, so the light is
- 19:52Speaker 2: at the north end of the switch. They configure this
- 19:55Speaker 2: so that the RGB is actually at the south end,
- 19:57Speaker 2: which you know most people are gonna be okay, And
- 20:02Speaker 2: but because of the angle of the keyboard, it actually
- 20:06Speaker 2: puts it so it's not quite as at the same
- 20:10Speaker 2: angle as if it were north facing. So even if
- 20:13Speaker 2: you kind of get a look at the switches between
- 20:15Speaker 2: the keys, you're not suddenly like, oh, I wonder what's
- 20:17Speaker 2: Oh it's purple and so bright.
- 20:20Speaker 1: How's it feel to type on it? Because again that's
- 20:22Speaker 1: that's the selling point.
- 20:23Speaker 2: It's it's like typing on butter I I'm finding excuses
- 20:30Speaker 2: to type on this keyboard. For the keyboard nerds who
- 20:33Speaker 2: are listening to the show, the switches are the gator
- 20:37Speaker 2: on Jupiter Brown. When we talk about switches, there's really
- 20:41Speaker 2: three different feelings you can get with them. They're defined
- 20:47Speaker 2: as linear, tactile, and clickie. Linear is just key go up,
- 20:51Speaker 2: key go down. Yeah, there's nothing fancy clicky. As you type,
- 20:56Speaker 2: you get that old classical like click click click click,
- 20:59Speaker 2: click click click that you see in all the old
- 21:01Speaker 2: eighties Hollywood movies of somebody hacking on a computer.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Exactly tactile.
- 21:05Speaker 2: You get the physical sensation like of the clickie. You
- 21:09Speaker 2: feel the attenuation point of one of the key registers,
- 21:12Speaker 2: but there's no audible component with it. So these are
- 21:16Speaker 2: tactile keys. But what Keykron has done it's really nice,
- 21:20Speaker 2: is they actually put two layers of sound dampening foam
- 21:23Speaker 2: and they mounted it via a gasket mount instead of
- 21:26Speaker 2: a hardmount, which gives it just a little bit of flex.
- 21:29Speaker 2: But because of that, as you're typing on this thing,
- 21:31Speaker 2: and I experimented with it, like I was banging out
- 21:34Speaker 2: on that keyboard, and it's the quietest mechanical keyboard I've
- 21:37Speaker 2: ever typed on in my life.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Now you can find this, you said Microcenter.
- 21:42Speaker 2: You can the one. It's the V one Max. You
- 21:47Speaker 2: can find it at Microcenter. I am pretty sure. Well,
- 21:51Speaker 2: I know you can also find it on their website
- 21:53Speaker 2: along with all their other keyboards. I'm checking to see
- 21:56Speaker 2: if it's on Amazon right now.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Because all we have to a break.
- 22:00Speaker 1: But when we come back, Sean got something and I
- 22:04Speaker 1: think you got a great deal too on it.
- 22:06Speaker 4: Bl I'm assuming it's a Black Friday deal because it's
- 22:08Speaker 4: at the beginning of the.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Week, but yeah, it's got to be. So when we
- 22:12Speaker 1: come back, we'll find out what it is that he got. Uh.
- 22:15Speaker 1: And in the meantime, Matt's going to see if this
- 22:18Speaker 1: is available on Amazon, and if so, we'll go ahead
- 22:21Speaker 1: and put a link to it on our blog and
- 22:22Speaker 1: website as well.
- 22:24Speaker 3: We'll be back with more of tech Talk Radio.
- 22:25Speaker 2: I'm Adie Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird, and I'm Matt Jones.
- 22:30Speaker 2: You can find us on Facebook at facebook dot com
- 22:33Speaker 2: slash tech Talkers.
- 22:35Speaker 3: We'll be right back and now back to tech Talk Radio.
- 22:39Speaker 4: So during the break, I was curious because I couldn't
- 22:41Speaker 4: remember what switches my keyboard ass. I have the Steal
- 22:47Speaker 4: series Apex M seven to fifty, which is no longer mall.
- 22:49Speaker 4: I bought it like seven years ago.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Still series career. I've always loved them.
- 22:53Speaker 4: And it has the QX two linear mechanical switches. So
- 22:57Speaker 4: if you were listening before, it linear just means the
- 22:59Speaker 4: buttles up and goes down. There's no force feedback, there's
- 23:02Speaker 4: no clickie. It's just it's relatively quiet, but it's it's
- 23:05Speaker 4: a small I have a seventy five percent, so I
- 23:07Speaker 4: don't have the numpad, but I have the home insert
- 23:10Speaker 4: delete page page donkeys. And when I was looking at
- 23:14Speaker 4: keyboards right and I just wanted something relatively inexpensive, I
- 23:18Speaker 4: went to the mechanical keyboard subreddette, which, as Matt was
- 23:23Speaker 4: saying at the end of the last segment, you can
- 23:26Speaker 4: really go down a rabbit hole with that. Really, you
- 23:28Speaker 4: can get get people that are going to argue about
- 23:32Speaker 4: what switches better no way.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Really, They'll they'll argue.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Yeah, oh yeah, do you want to?
- 23:38Speaker 4: I mean, I mean to break it down to Layman's terms, right,
- 23:41Speaker 4: it's Ford versus Chevy versus Fiat. Right, it's like everybody's
- 23:47Speaker 4: gonna have their own opinion on why there's better.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Wow and they and it'll it'll get heated. And I
- 23:54Speaker 2: do not mean that in like a friendly like oh
- 23:56Speaker 2: that's a good point. I mean like some dude will
- 23:59Speaker 2: be like, you like very MX reds, your bloodline is
- 24:02Speaker 2: weak and then proceed to like cuss you out about
- 24:06Speaker 2: why you're using like the basic Betty of switches. And
- 24:09Speaker 2: if you were a real mechanical keyboard fan, what you'd
- 24:12Speaker 2: be looking at is, you know, the Holy Panda X
- 24:15Speaker 2: tank mech Warrior switches only available from November first through
- 24:20Speaker 2: sixth on this one specific website. And I'm like, when
- 24:23Speaker 2: I first got into mechanical keyboards, I was like, I
- 24:25Speaker 2: thought I could make nerds fight. And I say that
- 24:28Speaker 2: as a nerd, But then I walked into that room
- 24:31Speaker 2: and it was it's like walking into a bar mid
- 24:34Speaker 2: bar fight.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Oh boy.
- 24:35Speaker 2: With some of those posts, like you walk in and
- 24:38Speaker 2: like you just look at the post title and you're like, oh,
- 24:40Speaker 2: somebody woke up and chose violence this morning. Okay.
- 24:44Speaker 1: So sub the subreddits, uh, do people get on there
- 24:47Speaker 1: and just argue about like you know, windows versus mac Uh? Yeah,
- 24:53Speaker 1: Oh yeah, man, oh wow, do you.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Do you want to find a spot for nerds to
- 24:58Speaker 2: fight about a very specif niche set of things. There's
- 25:01Speaker 2: going to be a subreddit for it. There's because you're.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Literally a subardd for everything great, oh Man, good and
- 25:08Speaker 1: bad under the Sun. Now we were talking about the
- 25:11Speaker 1: deals that you know you could get down, Matt, were
- 25:15Speaker 1: you able to find Is this keyboard that we talked about?
- 25:18Speaker 3: Is this available on Amazon?
- 25:20Speaker 2: It is available on Amazon. It is available on Amazon
- 25:23Speaker 2: for a current cost of like eighty three dollars, which
- 25:26Speaker 2: is less than I paid for it. We will put
- 25:29Speaker 2: the link up on our blog for this week's show. Yeah,
- 25:33Speaker 2: but when you go in you can choose the switches
- 25:36Speaker 2: you want in there. They've got Gator on Jupiter reds, Browns,
- 25:39Speaker 2: and Bananas, which, honestly, guys, just just just google it
- 25:42Speaker 2: and look at it. Don't go to a sob breddit.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Just google what is like Gator on Jupiter brown and
- 25:48Speaker 2: just go with what Gemini tells you. So don't join this.
- 25:52Speaker 1: The mom, the mom that was trying to get this
- 25:54Speaker 1: mechanical keyboard for her kid that had emailed us, I mean, yeah,
- 25:59Speaker 1: she could walk in to a Best Buy and buy
- 26:01Speaker 1: a Steel Series, Corsair or you know, Logitech mechanical keyboard.
- 26:06Speaker 1: She's gonna get, that's what you're gonna get. This sounds
- 26:08Speaker 1: like you have options. What is something she should know though,
- 26:12Speaker 1: going in going onto Amazon looking at this keyboard and
- 26:15Speaker 1: getting what should she get.
- 26:17Speaker 2: If this is if this is just for her kid
- 26:22Speaker 2: and they're looking for a decent mechanical keyboard. Honestly, this
- 26:25Speaker 2: is the one that they should probably get if the
- 26:27Speaker 2: kid wants to have, you know, the number pad what
- 26:30Speaker 2: we talked about earlier, the full hundred percent sized keyboard
- 26:33Speaker 2: Keycron has those. I would do those as well. The
- 26:36Speaker 2: thing about Steel Series, Razor, Glorious mechanical gaming keyboards, Red Dragon,
- 26:46Speaker 2: I'm trying to think of some of the other Corsair. Yeah,
- 26:49Speaker 2: they're overpriced, and they are overpriced by a lot. Most
- 26:53Speaker 2: of them. You have to use their proprietary software, which
- 26:56Speaker 2: is crap. The Corsair IQ I'm specifically going to call
- 27:01Speaker 2: out along with Razors Razor Zone as like some of
- 27:04Speaker 2: the worst vendor specific software I've had to use from
- 27:07Speaker 2: those Steel Series GG is also right up there, and
- 27:11Speaker 2: you have to use this proprietary junk to do the
- 27:14Speaker 2: same stuff that I was talking about. That is for
- 27:17Speaker 2: free on keycron site with QMK. I don't have to
- 27:20Speaker 2: sign up for it. I don't have to let them
- 27:22Speaker 2: into my system. I just do it that way. But
- 27:26Speaker 2: the other thing is, like this keyboard right now for
- 27:29Speaker 2: eighty three dollars is ridiculous. It is, and they're beefy
- 27:35Speaker 2: like just feeling this thing, it feels solid. You have
- 27:40Speaker 2: the other ones that do the full aluminum chassis. I
- 27:44Speaker 2: did the plastic instead, which, yeah, it's got a little
- 27:46Speaker 2: bit of bend to it, but it's you know, you're
- 27:48Speaker 2: in a plastic case. If you want the real hefty
- 27:51Speaker 2: one that's an aluminum case, Like, there's gonna be no
- 27:54Speaker 2: bend to that unless you're really muscling it. But don't
- 27:57Speaker 2: buy the ones you're going to see most of the
- 27:59Speaker 2: time when you go into best Buy, like you Keikron Oh, no,
- 28:06Speaker 2: that one was expensive. No, cron is kind of the
- 28:08Speaker 2: way to go.
- 28:10Speaker 4: But man, right now, I'm just we're talking about it
- 28:12Speaker 4: right I'm looking at their website and there are fifty
- 28:16Speaker 4: five dollars keyboards on their website. Key kron k one
- 28:18Speaker 4: Mechanical warows. Now it doesn't have the fancy switches, but
- 28:23Speaker 4: it has cherry switches, which are cheaper.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Cherry switches are just wine for fifty for forty five,
- 28:30Speaker 2: that's perfect.
- 28:31Speaker 4: So I encourage her to look at the website. Look,
- 28:33Speaker 4: go to their website, look at Amazon, like you can
- 28:36Speaker 4: get a mechanical keyboard for fifty five dollars.
- 28:39Speaker 2: The other nice feature that you want to try and
- 28:42Speaker 2: find with a mechanical keyboard is something called hot swappable switches.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Ah, yes, yeah.
- 28:47Speaker 2: And the reason the reason you want hot swappable switches
- 28:50Speaker 2: is we talked about earlier how you can just pop
- 28:52Speaker 2: your key caps off of the switches. These will come
- 28:55Speaker 2: with something called a switch puller, which just actually I've
- 28:58Speaker 2: got one right here, right, So this is a switch puller.
- 29:02Speaker 2: It just looks like an oversized pair of tweezers, but
- 29:06Speaker 2: you will actually, you know right that there we go,
- 29:09Speaker 2: that's actually how it's supposed to look. Mind, get a
- 29:10Speaker 2: little squished, but then you'll just go into the keyboard
- 29:13Speaker 2: crimp it. And you know, you'll obviously want to unplug
- 29:16Speaker 2: the keyboard first, but then just a solid yank up
- 29:19Speaker 2: and that switch comes out. Because as we've talked about,
- 29:21Speaker 2: it's a mechanical keyboard, it's a mechanical component. It's going
- 29:25Speaker 2: to eventually wear out. A hot swappable keyboard will allow
- 29:28Speaker 2: you to just yank those out, go buy new switches
- 29:31Speaker 2: and plug them in, as opposed to one that is
- 29:33Speaker 2: not hot swappable. That means that those those those switches
- 29:38Speaker 2: have actually been soldered to the PCB, which is the
- 29:41Speaker 2: control board for the keyboard. And if they're soldered in there,
- 29:45Speaker 2: then you have to do the whole thing of break
- 29:48Speaker 2: it down, undo the soldering, get a new one, trim it. No,
- 29:51Speaker 2: no one's got time for that. Just go for one
- 29:53Speaker 2: that's hot swappable. Because also as your kid gets older
- 29:56Speaker 2: and they start falling down this rabbit hole, because trying
- 29:59Speaker 2: buying one mechanical keyboard is like trying just a little
- 30:02Speaker 2: bit of crack. It's definitely not going to have any
- 30:04Speaker 2: effect on the rest of your life. Eventually, they're gonna
- 30:08Speaker 2: be like, I want to try a different set of switches. Well,
- 30:10Speaker 2: if you have a hot swappable one, you can do that,
- 30:13Speaker 2: and you just pay for the switches, which are one
- 30:15Speaker 2: of the cheapest components you can get.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Right all right, now, again, we want our listener to
- 30:21Speaker 1: find the links up on our website, some great, great
- 30:24Speaker 1: raves for this company that makes these. Now in the meantime, Sean,
- 30:28Speaker 1: you know, had been looking on Amazon and he found
- 30:31Speaker 1: he got an email in and it was a good deal,
- 30:33Speaker 1: and you decided to go ahead and go for it.
- 30:35Speaker 4: So I got on Monday, I got a Black Friday
- 30:39Speaker 4: email from Dji saying, hey, look at our deals right,
- 30:42Speaker 4: and it had you know, okay, it had the drones,
- 30:44Speaker 4: it had the osmos, it had the action cameras, and
- 30:48Speaker 4: at the very bottom, it had the DJI Power one thousand.
- 30:51Speaker 4: We talked about this when they launched it. Right, So
- 30:54Speaker 4: it's a solar generator right right, it's a lithium ion
- 30:58Speaker 4: or lithium iron phosphate battery that has all the bells
- 31:04Speaker 4: and whistles of a generator. It's got AC, it's got
- 31:06Speaker 4: one hundred and twenty vold AC, it's got DC, it's got
- 31:08Speaker 4: it's a great kit to put in the camper when
- 31:13Speaker 4: we go camping. Oh yeah, And it said forty percent
- 31:16Speaker 4: off and I was like, oh, that's that's great. It's
- 31:19Speaker 4: been on my list of things to buy when it
- 31:21Speaker 4: goes on sale. So then I clicked checked the deals
- 31:24Speaker 4: on Amazon, but from the Dji store it was forty
- 31:28Speaker 4: eight percent off okay, And I was like, okay, well,
- 31:31Speaker 4: I got a code in my email, so I'm gonna
- 31:33Speaker 4: see if I could put that code in at checkout,
- 31:36Speaker 4: and it gave me an additional forty dollars off.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Oh wow, so I paid.
- 31:43Speaker 4: So if you go if normally this is like a
- 31:45Speaker 4: nine hundred and not almost one thousand dollars piece of hardware,
- 31:49Speaker 4: I paid three eighty four it on Amazon.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Amazing. Wow.
- 31:53Speaker 4: So with with the with the with their forty percent
- 31:57Speaker 4: off plus I don't know if I cheat it by
- 32:00Speaker 4: using the code at the same time, but hey, if
- 32:03Speaker 4: you're gonna give me the discount, I'm gonna take it.
- 32:05Speaker 4: So I'm, you know, very thrilled to have this coming.
- 32:09Speaker 4: I should have it by you know, mid December, because
- 32:11Speaker 4: it's gonna take a little while to ship. But no, yeah,
- 32:14Speaker 4: I'm very excited to have it and play with it.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Is this the big one that is on wheels and
- 32:18Speaker 1: you could roller around?
- 32:19Speaker 3: Is that? No, it's not.
- 32:20Speaker 4: It's not that big. It's I don't know what the
- 32:22Speaker 4: size is, but it looks like.
- 32:24Speaker 2: A shoe box sat on its side.
- 32:28Speaker 4: Yeah, it's probably you know, six or seven inches by,
- 32:32Speaker 4: you know, twelve inches long. It's like a shit like
- 32:34Speaker 4: a shoe box. That's that's a good size for it.
- 32:37Speaker 4: But for what we do when we go camping, or
- 32:41Speaker 4: if I'm out with you know, Steve, my buddy Steve,
- 32:43Speaker 4: we're doing astro photography or something, I can charge all
- 32:46Speaker 4: my devices. Right if I'm doing cam radio stuff, I
- 32:49Speaker 4: don't need to take my you know, I don't have
- 32:51Speaker 4: to plug a twelve olt into my car and run
- 32:53Speaker 4: twelve volt for my car. This will sustain that. So
- 32:56Speaker 4: when we go camping and we want to watch TV
- 32:58Speaker 4: or we want to do something, we could just have this.
- 33:01Speaker 4: It charges up. It has the ability to plug in
- 33:04Speaker 4: directly into solar panels, so I can just plug it
- 33:08Speaker 4: into my camper and it'll charge this. But like it'll
- 33:11Speaker 4: use the solar from my camper to charge this.
- 33:13Speaker 1: So wow, Now, how much how much power can you
- 33:16Speaker 1: get out of something like this? So say you go
- 33:19Speaker 1: out your park, Okay, this is where it's going to
- 33:20Speaker 1: be for the night. You can watch television, have some lights.
- 33:25Speaker 3: How much?
- 33:25Speaker 4: So it's the ratings are right. It's it's ony twenty
- 33:29Speaker 4: four watt hour, which is pretty good. Uh, and it
- 33:33Speaker 4: says it's a twenty two hundred sustained wattage output twenty
- 33:36Speaker 4: six hundred peak, So you could even run potentially a
- 33:41Speaker 4: like a small air conditioner.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Really wow, yeah.
- 33:46Speaker 4: If you have it, so don't go out and think
- 33:49Speaker 4: you can just take it an old camper and run,
- 33:51Speaker 4: you know, run your air conditioner off an old camper.
- 33:53Speaker 4: My camper has what they call a soft start, which
- 33:57Speaker 4: means it does a soft load and builds the aster
- 34:00Speaker 4: charge up before it draws, so it doesn't have to
- 34:03Speaker 4: draw as much like the max. You know, the draw
- 34:05Speaker 4: is lower. So there are consumer level air conditioners that
- 34:10Speaker 4: you can draw, get soft start draws on and get
- 34:13Speaker 4: lower draw from they're starting. But we're gonna be comfortable.
- 34:18Speaker 4: You can run an AC fan, you can. You know you're
- 34:20Speaker 4: gonna be comfortable.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Would you recommend people maybe become a member of the
- 34:25Speaker 1: DJI mailing list and maybe they'll get this deal sent
- 34:29Speaker 1: to them.
- 34:30Speaker 4: I don't know, Like yeah, I mean, I'm just on
- 34:32Speaker 4: it because I have been for god knows how long.
- 34:35Speaker 4: But I mean they have deals on all of their stuff.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Anything for the holidays that you've seen.
- 34:41Speaker 3: Have they I got?
- 34:43Speaker 4: I got any I'm not interested in any more WISE
- 34:45Speaker 4: stuff right now because they really haven't innovated. I really
- 34:48Speaker 4: haven't seen anything that has completely stuck out, like I
- 34:51Speaker 4: have to have it. Whise, if you're listening, please, to
- 34:55Speaker 4: the love of God, bring back motion sensors so I
- 34:59Speaker 4: can trigger the life it's in my garage with just
- 35:02Speaker 4: emotion sensor. I don't have to dedicate a camera to it.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Well you know that.
- 35:05Speaker 3: Why Why is this been working a lot with Roku?
- 35:08Speaker 1: And matter of fact, if you see the cameras that
- 35:09Speaker 1: Roku has, those are basically WISE cameras and Roku has
- 35:13Speaker 1: a motion sensing kit. And I'm wondering if maybe they
- 35:16Speaker 1: just said, Okay, well we'll not do that, you go
- 35:18Speaker 1: ahead and do that. You know, I don't know how
- 35:21Speaker 1: they how they worked that.
- 35:22Speaker 4: Well, they had them originally, like when when I first
- 35:23Speaker 4: bought my cameras, when I bought the original V two's,
- 35:26Speaker 4: they had like a door sensor kits right window sensor
- 35:30Speaker 4: kids like the magnet ones where if it loses the magnet,
- 35:32Speaker 4: it'll trigger the trigger whatever function you wanted to do.
- 35:37Speaker 4: But then when they went to their clot more of
- 35:41Speaker 4: the AI like tracking stuff, they got rid of that
- 35:43Speaker 4: because they wanted you to rely on your cameras to
- 35:46Speaker 4: do the sensing. Right, you have a camera, your camera
- 35:48Speaker 4: de text movement, your camera to text motion, et cetera,
- 35:51Speaker 4: et cetera.
- 35:51Speaker 1: So I know Roku does have that a home security
- 35:54Speaker 1: monitoring kit which is a pretty good integrate with your
- 35:56Speaker 1: television as well, which is kind of neat. So if
- 35:58Speaker 1: you're watching TV, your camera can pop up. They can
- 36:01Speaker 1: notify you while you're watching your show without having a
- 36:03Speaker 1: look down at your smartphone. All right, we got to
- 36:05Speaker 1: take another quick break.
- 36:06Speaker 3: We come back. We have listener questions.
- 36:08Speaker 1: We've gotten a lot over the last couple of days,
- 36:10Speaker 1: so we'll share one that's standing by.
- 36:12Speaker 2: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird, and I'm Matt Jones.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Go ahead and send us an X at tech talk Radio.
- 36:20Speaker 2: We'll be right.
- 36:21Speaker 4: Back now back to Chief Talk Radio.
- 36:24Speaker 3: You can reach out to us anytime.
- 36:26Speaker 1: You can email us tech guys at tech talk radio
- 36:28Speaker 1: dot com, or even you can call and leave a
- 36:31Speaker 1: message at five two zero seven seven seven ninety five
- 36:35Speaker 1: eighty and Al needed some thoughts on installing Windows eleven.
- 36:40Speaker 1: He told He told me that his system qualifies to
- 36:43Speaker 1: run Windows eleven from Windows ten, but he's heard that
- 36:46Speaker 1: there have been bugs with Windows eleven? Should he wait
- 36:51Speaker 1: or pull the trigger and install Windows eleven now rather
- 36:55Speaker 1: than waiting all the way till October? That's when you
- 36:58Speaker 1: know the support will kind of end for Whindo ten.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Windows ten will still run, but the sport will land? Uh?
- 37:04Speaker 3: Or should should he do it before that?
- 37:07Speaker 2: Wow? I feel uniquely qualified to answer this question.
- 37:09Speaker 3: You just went, You took you bit the bullet, right
- 37:12Speaker 3: he went?
- 37:13Speaker 4: He went like two days ago, and I went about
- 37:15Speaker 4: a month before that, So that's right?
- 37:17Speaker 1: Yes?
- 37:18Speaker 2: Or seann A, you is bitter about it as I am?
- 37:22Speaker 4: Well, yeah, and so I just I don't know that
- 37:27Speaker 4: I've I've complained about this before, but it's like, I
- 37:30Speaker 4: just I'm sick of the bloat that comes to Windows, right,
- 37:33Speaker 4: I'm sick of ads in the home screen, ads on
- 37:36Speaker 4: the start bar, like not necessarily ads, but like search
- 37:39Speaker 4: recommendations and all this sort of stuff. Yeah, so I
- 37:43Speaker 4: stripped mine down to the bare bones as most as
- 37:46Speaker 4: you can do. So, but I wasn't bitter about it,
- 37:49Speaker 4: but I definitely waited longer than most people.
- 37:52Speaker 3: All Right, So I what do you say?
- 37:56Speaker 4: Just do it?
- 37:57Speaker 2: Just get it over with just it's like rip off
- 38:00Speaker 2: a band aid, like it's gonna come off. You don't.
- 38:04Speaker 2: You don't really have a choice. Windows ten. The official
- 38:08Speaker 2: EOL is October fourteenth of next year. That means it's
- 38:12Speaker 2: still gonna function, but you are not going to have
- 38:14Speaker 2: any more security updates, any more future updates. The current
- 38:18Speaker 2: version twenty two to h two is the last version.
- 38:22Speaker 2: For comparison's sake, I think I'm on like twenty four
- 38:24Speaker 2: h something with Windows eleven. It's gonna be more secure.
- 38:28Speaker 2: Windows is still getting the security patches and security updates
- 38:31Speaker 2: and Defender updates and things like that, but man, just
- 38:35Speaker 2: just pull the band aid off. There's some things about
- 38:37Speaker 2: it that, like Sean was mentioning that I really don't like. Yeah,
- 38:43Speaker 2: I miss my old start menu have come up. Here's
- 38:46Speaker 2: all my crap, Yeah, here's the stuff that I've pinned. Instead,
- 38:49Speaker 2: you open it and it's like here's all the pin stuff,
- 38:52Speaker 2: and underneath it is like here's all our recommendations. Well,
- 38:55Speaker 2: if you turn off recommendations, that includes like continually open
- 38:58Speaker 2: files things like that. But it's also the random bloat
- 39:03Speaker 2: ad junk that they're going to float your way of,
- 39:06Speaker 2: like you know, have you has your aunt Debbie twice removed.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Not convince you to download Candy Crush Saga yet let
- 39:13Speaker 2: me give you six ads for it every single day
- 39:16Speaker 2: while you're just trying to find word right.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Uh, that is there things that OWL should do before
- 39:24Speaker 1: making the jump. Did you do anything before you said, Okay,
- 39:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna install Windows eleven on it.
- 39:29Speaker 3: I should do this first.
- 39:31Speaker 4: So with bailes obviously.
- 39:33Speaker 2: But yeah, I was gonna say with me, I've got
- 39:36Speaker 2: everything spread across three different hard drives in it, so
- 39:39Speaker 2: if it nukes my my files are fine. But for
- 39:43Speaker 2: most users, you definitely want to do a backup of
- 39:46Speaker 2: your files first and not like you know, oh I
- 39:49Speaker 2: did a backup on the same hard drive, I'm gonna
- 39:51Speaker 2: be installing it on No back it up to you know,
- 39:54Speaker 2: if you've just got a couple of word documents and
- 39:56Speaker 2: some pictures, like, you can throw it on a USB
- 39:58Speaker 2: key or just get an external hard drive or you know,
- 40:03Speaker 2: there's cloud providers. You can do Google one that you
- 40:07Speaker 2: can get up to a terabyte. You can do. Apple
- 40:11Speaker 2: has theirs if you're in that infrastructure for your mobile devices,
- 40:15Speaker 2: Sugar Sinc. There's there's all sorts of cloud providers you
- 40:19Speaker 2: can also do, but definitely definitely back up your stuff first.
- 40:23Speaker 2: All right, when you're done installing it and you have
- 40:27Speaker 2: run it, and you're a week, a month, however long
- 40:31Speaker 2: you're comfortable, it's down the road and you're like, I
- 40:33Speaker 2: am not going to go back. Because when you do this,
- 40:36Speaker 2: this is called an in place upgrade. The way Windows
- 40:39Speaker 2: does that is it basically kind of like boxes up
- 40:42Speaker 2: your old operating system, puts it on a digital shelf
- 40:47Speaker 2: over here, and then installs Windows eleven and pulls some
- 40:51Speaker 2: stuff out of there and puts it back in. When
- 40:54Speaker 2: you've had this long enough, you open up your start
- 40:57Speaker 2: menu and type in disk cleanup two words, and there'll
- 41:02Speaker 2: be a little option says run as administrator. And if
- 41:04Speaker 2: you do and check all those boxes, one of them
- 41:07Speaker 2: is remove previous Windows installation. And for me, as soon
- 41:11Speaker 2: as I ran that, that was thirty eight gigabytes that
- 41:14Speaker 2: I got back on my operating system hard drive.
- 41:16Speaker 3: That's pretty good.
- 41:16Speaker 2: So that's something you want to do later.
- 41:19Speaker 1: All right, here's one for Mike. Now, Mike did the
- 41:21Speaker 1: original musical theme for the show. Mike drives a truck
- 41:26Speaker 1: for a living, but he's a musician. And I've known
- 41:30Speaker 1: Mike for a long time. But he set us a
- 41:32Speaker 1: note and he says, I want to make short videos
- 41:34Speaker 1: with AI on YouTube with my music. He said, what
- 41:39Speaker 1: kind of software is good for something like this? What
- 41:42Speaker 1: might I need to know? I thank you so much
- 41:44Speaker 1: for your help so far, and thank you in advance.
- 41:47Speaker 2: Okay, Andy, you've been you've been sending us some really
- 41:51Speaker 2: cool like snipped for social media stuff. What are you
- 41:56Speaker 2: using for that?
- 41:56Speaker 1: I'm using alloclip for that? And that is that allo
- 42:01Speaker 1: clip opus clip.
- 42:02Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Illoclip was a little camera you used to be able
- 42:04Speaker 1: to put on your smartphone. But opus clip and that
- 42:07Speaker 1: you know that creates those. But I think what he
- 42:09Speaker 1: wants is a complete AI driven scenario.
- 42:12Speaker 3: And I've been.
- 42:13Speaker 1: On on the socials like like TikTok and Instagram reels,
- 42:17Speaker 1: and I've been seeing like there's one I saw with
- 42:20Speaker 1: a baby and a cat, and the first time I
- 42:23Speaker 1: saw it, I thought, oh, that's really cute the baby
- 42:26Speaker 1: and the cat or the babies laughing. The cat made
- 42:28Speaker 1: the baby laugh. And then I watched a couple of
- 42:31Speaker 1: more and I realized that's AI. It's all of it's AI.
- 42:35Speaker 1: There's and there's other ones that are completely driven AI,
- 42:40Speaker 1: and I'm wondering what program could be used to create that.
- 42:44Speaker 1: I you know, I explained to Mike, we may have
- 42:46Speaker 1: to do a little research on this, but.
- 42:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I think we're gonna have to because I don't
- 42:49Speaker 4: know of anything that's completely AI driven just from there's
- 42:53Speaker 4: something that you have to you have to generate some
- 42:55Speaker 4: real content.
- 42:56Speaker 3: But yeah, that's what I would be thinking too.
- 42:58Speaker 1: You know. I know there's great editing out there like
- 43:00Speaker 1: cap cut that can help you create stuff, but again
- 43:04Speaker 1: for doing it from the complete AI standout of what
- 43:07Speaker 1: AI could create. And I know that Mike said he
- 43:09Speaker 1: wants to have his dog be a superhero or his
- 43:12Speaker 1: dog to be featured in them. We're gonna have to
- 43:15Speaker 1: research that one. If flicteners have been doing this kind
- 43:18Speaker 1: of stuff or they know, please drop us the line
- 43:21Speaker 1: and let us know what would be a good one,
- 43:24Speaker 1: all right. And then this one from Dave in Green
- 43:27Speaker 1: Valley said, I'm hoping you might know. I have an
- 43:29Speaker 1: old hard drive that came out of a Windows XP machine.
- 43:34Speaker 1: It's pretty it's pretty okay, he said, It's an eighty
- 43:36Speaker 1: gigabyte drive and I believe in ide drive. I want
- 43:40Speaker 1: to take a look at what was on it. It's
- 43:42Speaker 1: never was never backed up. What would I need to
- 43:45Speaker 1: be able to do this? I only have a laptop
- 43:47Speaker 1: from Dell and it won't fit inside that laptop.
- 43:51Speaker 2: No, it will not.
- 43:52Speaker 4: So we talked about this at the bed of the show.
- 43:54Speaker 4: Because we talked. We talked a little bit about the
- 43:56Speaker 4: questions we're going to answer. And I have an answer
- 43:58Speaker 4: for this.
- 43:58Speaker 3: I've done it good.
- 44:01Speaker 4: They make USB to IDE adapters.
- 44:05Speaker 3: Wait to IDE. I've seen the USB to SATA, but
- 44:09Speaker 3: not the USB STA.
- 44:10Speaker 4: So I looked it up and I found one. So
- 44:13Speaker 4: Microcenter has one for nineteen dollars. They can buy them
- 44:17Speaker 4: on Amazon, but I trust Microcenter. It has the ability
- 44:21Speaker 4: to do the three and a half inch, two and
- 44:24Speaker 4: a half inch and SATA, not all at once, obviously,
- 44:27Speaker 4: But it's USB three. You plug the drive into the adapter,
- 44:32Speaker 4: you plug it into your computer USB, and then you
- 44:33Speaker 4: power it. They have an external AC power so it
- 44:36Speaker 4: powers the drive separately from your computer, and then the
- 44:39Speaker 4: USB does the.
- 44:41Speaker 1: Data wow, and then he should be able to see what.
- 44:44Speaker 4: Was he should You should just be able to plug
- 44:46Speaker 4: the drive into the adapter, plug it USB into your
- 44:49Speaker 4: computer and then put power to it. It should recognize it
- 44:51Speaker 4: as a USB drive.
- 44:52Speaker 3: Oh, that's viable.
- 44:54Speaker 2: I've done that before, but it was years ago, but
- 44:56Speaker 2: it was ID. I was moving ide to Acetah heart
- 45:00Speaker 2: drive and yeah, I used something like this and they
- 45:02Speaker 2: work great.
- 45:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I have a Now now.
- 45:04Speaker 4: If you're using a scuzzy drive, you're up up the
- 45:07Speaker 4: green God.
- 45:08Speaker 2: Yeah help you. And oh you can't.
- 45:10Speaker 3: How would you? How would you get data off an
- 45:12Speaker 3: old scuzzy I.
- 45:13Speaker 4: Mean, find a mother and find a motherboard that supports
- 45:16Speaker 4: scuzzy drives.
- 45:18Speaker 3: Or even an adapter card. You couldn't even do it that, right,
- 45:20Speaker 3: could you.
- 45:21Speaker 4: I don't even know if they make adapter carts or
- 45:22Speaker 4: scusy drives. I'd have to look. That's such an old
- 45:26Speaker 4: I mean, I'm gonna have to look. But if you,
- 45:28Speaker 4: if you have a scuzzy drive and it works, send
- 45:32Speaker 4: it to me and I'll get the data off for you.
- 45:33Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know. I'd be interested to find
- 45:36Speaker 4: a scuzzy I mean I've seen some scuzzy drives and
- 45:38Speaker 4: some of the old stuff that I've gotten from friends
- 45:40Speaker 4: and stuff, but I've never tried to pull the data off.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Well, my wife had a medical billing business, and it
- 45:45Speaker 1: was a had A server and I built it with
- 45:49Speaker 1: it's had scuzzy.
- 45:50Speaker 3: Her drive was a scusy drive.
- 45:51Speaker 1: But when she stopped doing that and got back into
- 45:55Speaker 1: you know, working over at Northwest, she she just ended
- 45:58Speaker 1: up not using it anymore. So it's still sitting in
- 46:01Speaker 1: the tower, but it's an old it's a Windows n
- 46:04Speaker 1: T station workstation.
- 46:06Speaker 2: So this is like I'm I'm looking at some of
- 46:08Speaker 2: this and seeing some of the solutions that these people
- 46:10Speaker 2: have put together, and it's like an adapter into an
- 46:13Speaker 2: adapter into an adapter into an adapter into USB. Thus
- 46:18Speaker 2: the comment earlier, God help you because we can't.
- 46:22Speaker 1: Right becuse he is a little bit different bottle of waxe. Yeah,
- 46:26Speaker 1: but ID is good. I have a star doc which
- 46:28Speaker 1: I love, but it's it's it's basically just say that.
- 46:32Speaker 3: That's all you can do.
- 46:33Speaker 1: You plug the drive in. It's neat because it has
- 46:35Speaker 1: two bays. You can plug the drive in, then you
- 46:38Speaker 1: can put another drive and you can actually copy the drives,
- 46:42Speaker 1: which I've done here at the radio station before as well.
- 46:45Speaker 1: But again for ide, I didn't even know there was
- 46:48Speaker 1: a cable solution that. So that one's pretty good. All right,
- 46:50Speaker 1: one more as we approach you know, well we kind
- 46:54Speaker 1: of you know, Cyber Monday is going to be on Monday.
- 46:56Speaker 1: You have Black Friday, which was yesterday, but says I
- 47:00Speaker 1: think you guys have talked about this before. I have
- 47:03Speaker 1: a forty inch television from about fifteen years ago. The
- 47:07Speaker 1: prices of this week for a fifty inch have been
- 47:09Speaker 1: pretty amazing. Is there anything I should consider before buying
- 47:13Speaker 1: a new TV? How do I know? It's a smart
- 47:16Speaker 1: TV that's from Mary in Tucson.
- 47:19Speaker 2: So most of the TVs that you're gonna see nowadays
- 47:24Speaker 2: will have some form of smart to them. It's just
- 47:29Speaker 2: kind of the way it's gone. There's gonna be some
- 47:33Speaker 2: form of you know, you have apps things like that.
- 47:36Speaker 4: That's why they're cheap.
- 47:37Speaker 2: That's as as we go towards Black Friday, I'm going
- 47:43Speaker 2: to give you a little secret from somebody who worked
- 47:46Speaker 2: too many Black Fridays at best Buy. Okay, when you
- 47:49Speaker 2: are seeing these super cheap like you know, oh it's
- 47:52Speaker 2: an eighty inch panel for like four hundred dollars, it's
- 47:57Speaker 2: because that TV that skew was specifically designed for a
- 48:01Speaker 2: Black Friday sale and will never be made again. It
- 48:04Speaker 2: is not a staple model. It is not a part
- 48:08Speaker 2: of the staple product line. It is literally like Brankenstein's
- 48:14Speaker 2: Television of a way for them to clear out old panels,
- 48:18Speaker 2: old parts, old cases, things like that to create a
- 48:22Speaker 2: TV and create that skew that they can sell super
- 48:24Speaker 2: cheap and that'll be the only day you find it.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Oh but now are they going to be good deals?
- 48:29Speaker 2: I mean they're great deals for like the one year
- 48:33Speaker 2: that it's going to last. Oh, and then you're going
- 48:36Speaker 2: to start seeing issues because here's the other thing. These
- 48:39Speaker 2: these smart TVs basically have a mini computer inside of it,
- 48:43Speaker 2: and like any other computer, as it gets more updates
- 48:46Speaker 2: because they keep coming through, Internet of Things is doing
- 48:49Speaker 2: a little bit better now about securing itself. But as
- 48:52Speaker 2: you've got more updates coming through for the whatever operating
- 48:55Speaker 2: system it's using, the streaming apps themselves update as time
- 48:59Speaker 2: goes on, the computer starts, the TV starts to show
- 49:02Speaker 2: its age by slowing down. We have a Visio TV
- 49:05Speaker 2: upstairs that you hit the power button. It's like, okay,
- 49:08Speaker 2: I want to go to Netflix. And it used to
- 49:09Speaker 2: just you know, bop bop. Now it's kind of moseying
- 49:14Speaker 2: along and taking its time, so you're going to see
- 49:17Speaker 2: a more rapid decline of the software portions of it.
- 49:23Speaker 2: You'll start seeing hardware issues usually around a year and
- 49:27Speaker 2: a half, maybe two years. But these are not TVs
- 49:31Speaker 2: that are meant to last. They're not by by technology
- 49:35Speaker 2: and by business profit. They are designed to fail quickly.
- 49:41Speaker 2: So if you're looking for a new TV, you know
- 49:45Speaker 2: you're coming up on a time where it's like, it's
- 49:48Speaker 2: honestly a little bit of a risk for which you're
- 49:50Speaker 2: gonna pick.
- 49:51Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I'm thinking. I had an Insignia that
- 49:54Speaker 1: I bought as a Black Friday sale, so forty inch.
- 49:58Speaker 1: It lasted about three years, and you know, third year,
- 50:02Speaker 1: it just just stopped turning on. And so yeah, again
- 50:06Speaker 1: you could run into that. So I bought.
- 50:08Speaker 4: I bought back in twenty ten, I bought a TCL
- 50:15Speaker 4: thirty two inch. I think it's thirty two inch. It's
- 50:18Speaker 4: over there.
- 50:18Speaker 3: Right, That thing still runs.
- 50:21Speaker 4: It's not smart TV though, doesn't it doesn't have it
- 50:23Speaker 4: just it's just a TV. It's just a flat panel.
- 50:26Speaker 1: But you could plug a Roku box into it, or.
- 50:29Speaker 4: I ran it with a with a with an Amazon
- 50:31Speaker 4: firestick for a long time and now it just serves
- 50:34Speaker 4: as my retro gaming hub, so it's got all my
- 50:38Speaker 4: retro gaming stuff plugged into it.
- 50:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it wasn't. Justin talking a few weeks
- 50:41Speaker 2: ago about the new Google streamer. Yeah, because they bodied
- 50:46Speaker 2: the Chrome cast and turned it into the streamer. So
- 50:48Speaker 2: you don't necessarily need a smart TV. You can just
- 50:50Speaker 2: you can spend that extra money on a really good panel.
- 50:56Speaker 2: I mean for for large aspects panels and a large aspect.
- 51:00Speaker 2: I mean you're looking at a big honkin TV, like
- 51:04Speaker 2: seventy inches or larger. I look. I like Sony, I
- 51:07Speaker 2: really do. I I like TCL. They've improved a lot.
- 51:14Speaker 2: They're another great one. They're partnered with They were partnered
- 51:18Speaker 2: with Roku. I think they changed and they're now partnered
- 51:20Speaker 2: with Android TV, which is also what I like with Sony. Yeah, TCL,
- 51:26Speaker 2: Sony's good stay away from the the in house brands.
- 51:30Speaker 2: And what I mean with that is like for best Buy,
- 51:32Speaker 2: Insignia and Dinex are produced by best Buy, they're best
- 51:36Speaker 2: by brand. Walmart has own or On, Walmart has on
- 51:41Speaker 2: and Walmart Actually, last I checked, Walmart bought Visio right yep.
- 51:47Speaker 2: But I you know, LG Samsung Sony. Yes, Sharp tcl Yes,
- 51:56Speaker 2: you're gonna pay more for the name. But there's a
- 51:58Speaker 2: reason for that.
- 52:00Speaker 3: We gotta take another quick break. We come back with
- 52:01Speaker 3: more of tech Talk Radio.
- 52:03Speaker 1: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird.
- 52:06Speaker 2: I'm Matt Jones. You can find us on the webit
- 52:08Speaker 2: tech talk radio dot com.
- 52:10Speaker 3: We'll be right back and now fact to tech talk Radio.
- 52:14Speaker 2: Now. We we talked about this product a couple of
- 52:17Speaker 2: weeks ago, and I'm curious if you used it, Sean
- 52:21Speaker 2: nine Nite. Do you remember when we were chatting about
- 52:23Speaker 2: that one.
- 52:23Speaker 4: Yeah, so I did, right. I think I ran it
- 52:25Speaker 4: during the show that that episode to get a couple
- 52:27Speaker 4: of the things that I didn't have installed. So nine
- 52:30Speaker 4: Night is this fantastic website nine Night dot com, I
- 52:34Speaker 4: n t E dot com And you can literally just
- 52:38Speaker 4: go it. Just you go to the website. It's gott
- 52:41Speaker 4: look at all these applications. I can just click click, click,
- 52:43Speaker 4: click Chrome, whatever browser're using, whatever, message system, media, imaging,
- 52:47Speaker 4: document security utilities, storage, developer tools. You just click the
- 52:51Speaker 4: box you hit get your nine Night it devout. It
- 52:55Speaker 4: gives you this package and it downloads and installs all
- 52:59Speaker 4: of those programs for you, and.
- 53:00Speaker 1: You did this when you were going to Windows eleven.
- 53:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I went to Windows eleven and then I was
- 53:04Speaker 4: like just going through, like I wrote a list. I
- 53:06Speaker 4: literally wrote a document saying what do I have installed
- 53:09Speaker 4: on my computer? And I went through and I said, Okay,
- 53:10Speaker 4: I've got this, got this, got this, got this, got this,
- 53:12Speaker 4: And then I went through and deleted as I installed right,
- 53:15Speaker 4: And this would have saved me, I don't know, two
- 53:18Speaker 4: hours of my time probably of just going through and
- 53:21Speaker 4: going to the website downloading the Okay, got the installer, cool,
- 53:24Speaker 4: got the install cool this. Just you click, you literally
- 53:27Speaker 4: just do. It's like fifteen clicks and you've got a
- 53:30Speaker 4: wrapped up package with all of the programs that you're
- 53:33Speaker 4: gonna want that you probably don't even know you need.
- 53:36Speaker 1: I got to tell you one of the most frustrating
- 53:38Speaker 1: things is doing a new installer Windows, getting all your
- 53:41Speaker 1: programs and doing a new phone smartphone you're going from
- 53:46Speaker 1: one to the other or just brand new phone.
- 53:48Speaker 3: It can be it can be a real pain.
- 53:51Speaker 4: The other the other thing, the other thing I'll tell
- 53:52Speaker 4: you too, is remember if you have saved passwords in
- 53:57Speaker 4: your Google Chrome or anything like that, to make sure
- 54:00Speaker 4: you've got that backed up, because if you move everything
- 54:03Speaker 4: over and you don't bring certain things with you, you're
- 54:07Speaker 4: gonna have to relog into everything and you're gonna need
- 54:10Speaker 4: to remember your passwords for everything.
- 54:13Speaker 1: So I think, Matt, you've felt my pain in that one.
- 54:16Speaker 2: With that one, I will recommend. I've moved away from
- 54:20Speaker 2: like Chrome holding all my passwords. I used Bitwarden. I
- 54:23Speaker 2: used to use last Pass, but they had won too
- 54:26Speaker 2: many breaches for my taste, and that is one, by
- 54:29Speaker 2: the way, one breach is too many for my taste.
- 54:31Speaker 3: One pass is the one I use, so I like it.
- 54:33Speaker 2: But yeah, Bitwarden one pass. Anything that's a password management solution,
- 54:37Speaker 2: I highly recommend people look at that because then you
- 54:39Speaker 2: really just have to remember your master password and that's
- 54:42Speaker 2: it's it, all right.
- 54:43Speaker 1: That's it for this week's Tech Talk Radio. Thank you
