- 0:05Speaker 1: Hi, Hello, Welcome back to Cardinal Territory, presented by Fox One.
- 0:08Speaker 1: It's me your host, Katie Wu. The twenty twenty five
- 0:12Speaker 1: MLB season has officially come to an end, with the
- 0:15Speaker 1: Los Angeles Dodgers defeating the Toronto Blue Jays five to
- 0:18Speaker 1: four and eleven innings of Game seven of the World
- 0:21Speaker 1: Series Saturday night to become the first back to back
- 0:24Speaker 1: World champs in twenty five years, capping off one of
- 0:27Speaker 1: the most thrilling World Series in recent memory. As someone
- 0:30Speaker 1: who was lucky enough to have a seat in the
- 0:33Speaker 1: action over the last week, I can't even begin to
- 0:36Speaker 1: comprehend the baseball we just saw. It was truly, I think,
- 0:41Speaker 1: a World Series that we'll be talking about for a
- 0:43Speaker 1: very long time. No matter who you're a fan of,
- 0:45Speaker 1: whether you're a Dodgers fan, blue Jays fan. I feel
- 0:49Speaker 1: like twenty nine fan bases were Blue Jays fans heading
- 0:51Speaker 1: into this World Series. But again, no matter who you
- 0:53Speaker 1: were rooting for, if you liked crazy baseball, this was
- 0:56Speaker 1: the World Series for you. I'm still myself, I just
- 0:59Speaker 1: got back from toront Know this evening, I'm still trying
- 1:02Speaker 1: to process whatever the heck we just witnessed. In this
- 1:04Speaker 1: year's Fall Classics. So I'll just go ahead and read
- 1:07Speaker 1: a couple of the storylines that we saw, and these
- 1:10Speaker 1: are the things that only happened in the World Series.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I think overall this postseason was insane. But let's just
- 1:18Speaker 1: break down the last seven days. Okay, So the twenty
- 1:21Speaker 1: twenty five World Series was the first feature all of this.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Per the Athletic A pinchit Grand Slam that was Assombarder
- 1:28Speaker 1: in Game one of the World Series, which feels like
- 1:31Speaker 1: three weeks ago. Two extra inning games, eighteen innings in
- 1:35Speaker 1: Game three, so that's essentially two games if you think
- 1:37Speaker 1: about it, and of course eleven innings in Game seven,
- 1:40Speaker 1: two extra inning homers PARTI Freeman and Will Smith, a
- 1:44Speaker 1: seven to four double play to end a game that
- 1:47Speaker 1: was Game six, in one of the most wild endings
- 1:50Speaker 1: I can imagine to any baseball game, back to back
- 1:53Speaker 1: Homer's lead off a game that was Blake Snell Game five,
- 2:01Speaker 1: a complete game. You have amoto unreal performance through a
- 2:05Speaker 1: complete game and Game two. And if you would have
- 2:08Speaker 1: told me that would somehow have ranked lower on his
- 2:11Speaker 1: list of accomplishments this World Series, I would have been astonished.
- 2:15Speaker 1: After seeing what he did over the last seven games.
- 2:18Speaker 1: I am at a loss for words. The first twelve
- 2:21Speaker 1: strikeout zero walk game pitch in World series history. Trey
- 2:24Speaker 1: Savage also set a record with the amount of strikeouts
- 2:27Speaker 1: by a rookie a World series. That game that was
- 2:29Speaker 1: Game five, a player who reached based nine times in
- 2:32Speaker 1: one game. Mister Shoheo Tani did that in game three,
- 2:35Speaker 1: and a game ty ninth homer that flipped the World
- 2:37Speaker 1: series that happened in game seven by Miguel Rohas, so
- 2:42Speaker 1: no shortage of missed action there. There was also a
- 2:45Speaker 1: benches clearing incident in the game seven, a lodge ball
- 2:49Speaker 1: rule in game six. Again, an incredible world series from
- 2:54Speaker 1: an entertainment standpoint alone, and shout out to everyone covering
- 2:58Speaker 1: that game, whether you or were a reporter, analyst, print digital.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I had so much fun over the last month and
- 3:06Speaker 1: now I'm excited to sleep for the next three business days.
- 3:09Speaker 1: But as we know, Cardinals fans World Series is over,
- 3:14Speaker 1: which means we can officially talk about the Cardinals off
- 3:17Speaker 1: season now because it has officially started. And hey, what
- 3:20Speaker 1: do you know, I actually have news for you. Over
- 3:24Speaker 1: the last week, Heim Bloom has started to make some
- 3:28Speaker 1: front office changes. We talk about this on the Athletic.
- 3:31Speaker 1: If you missed it, good news, you can still find
- 3:33Speaker 1: it there. We go so later, I think Thursday. I
- 3:38Speaker 1: don't really know my days right now. Full disclosure, I
- 3:41Speaker 1: believe this was Thursday the Athletic Reporter. The Cardinals were
- 3:44Speaker 1: to add front office roles and plan to retain the
- 3:46Speaker 1: majority of their coaching staff. So let's go ahead and
- 3:50Speaker 1: break down what has been going on with the Cardinals
- 3:52Speaker 1: front office over the last month, the first month of
- 3:55Speaker 1: Heim Bloom in the President of Baseball Operations role, there
- 3:59Speaker 1: hasn't been a ton of news, but that doesn't mean
- 4:01Speaker 1: that things aren't going down behind the scenes. So hopefully
- 4:03Speaker 1: this article here can explain this too. I'll break down
- 4:06Speaker 1: a little bit of it. The Cardinals were planning to
- 4:09Speaker 1: expand the professional scouting department. We talked about this right
- 4:12Speaker 1: as the season ended. This has been a filal point
- 4:13Speaker 1: of high and Bloom and they wanted to do that
- 4:15Speaker 1: by hiring a director to oversee player acquisition, and they
- 4:18Speaker 1: have done so we'll get to that. They will also
- 4:22Speaker 1: hire an international scouting director to serve under Assistant general
- 4:25Speaker 1: manager Moisius Rodriguez. They have also hired one of those again,
- 4:29Speaker 1: we'll get to that. Additional support roles are expected for
- 4:31Speaker 1: both positions and those will be filled later in the
- 4:34Speaker 1: off season. So already we have two new director roles
- 4:37Speaker 1: in the Cardinals front office. Saint Louis will also look
- 4:40Speaker 1: to continue to add to its player development staff. As
- 4:42Speaker 1: we all can recall, that was a pretty was the
- 4:44Speaker 1: main emphasis of the Cardinals offseason last year was to
- 4:47Speaker 1: revamp and overhaul that PD staff. They're going to continue
- 4:50Speaker 1: to add staffers, specifically look to hire a director of
- 4:53Speaker 1: hitting to oversee the offense from an organization wide approach.
- 4:56Speaker 1: It's very similar to what to what Matt Pierpont is
- 4:59Speaker 1: doing as director of pitching. So those are the three
- 5:03Speaker 1: major front office hires that we are looking to happen. Again,
- 5:05Speaker 1: two of those have already taken place. I'll explain them
- 5:07Speaker 1: later in the show. Let's go to the major league side.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Barring anything crazy, a few organizations have not yet finalized
- 5:15Speaker 1: their coaching staff, but the Cardinals are expected to retain
- 5:17Speaker 1: its entire coaching staff under manager Allie Marmel for twenty
- 5:20Speaker 1: twenty six, though two coaches have been reassigned to new roles.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Those coaches are assistant pitching coach Jean Key Kuiper and
- 5:27Speaker 1: game planning coach Packi Elkins. They will no longer be
- 5:29Speaker 1: a part of the uniform coaching staff, but they will
- 5:31Speaker 1: remain in the organization in strategist roles. So the cut
- 5:35Speaker 1: means the Cardinals will be looking to hire a new
- 5:37Speaker 1: assistant pitching coach and a new assistant hitting coach. They
- 5:41Speaker 1: already have one of each. Assistant pitching coach Julio Rangel
- 5:45Speaker 1: he'll continue to stand in the organization, and so will
- 5:47Speaker 1: assistant hitting coach Brandon Allen. They will keep the same roles.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Bench coach Channel descalso hitting coach Bran Brown, pitching coach
- 5:54Speaker 1: Dusty Blake, first base Coachtie Clapp, third based coach Pop Warner,
- 5:57Speaker 1: and assistant coach John Jay will also all return to
- 5:59Speaker 1: the organization same positions, as well bullpen coaches Jamie Pogue
- 6:04Speaker 1: and Kleninger Turan. Now let's get to the name that
- 6:07Speaker 1: you all really care about. It is not believed at
- 6:10Speaker 1: this time that there will be a place for Yadi
- 6:12Speaker 1: or Molina, who has lobbied for major league coaching staff
- 6:15Speaker 1: positions on his Instagram earlier this month, will be on
- 6:18Speaker 1: the staff next year. But the Cardinals remain open to
- 6:21Speaker 1: finding a role with Malina in the organization whether I
- 6:23Speaker 1: mean certainly they want one of their franchise faces to
- 6:27Speaker 1: be more involved, and I think that's something YACHTI is
- 6:29Speaker 1: open to. There has been a lot of rumors and a
- 6:31Speaker 1: lot of discourse about where Albert Poolholes is going to go,
- 6:34Speaker 1: if he's going to go manage the San Diego Potters
- 6:36Speaker 1: or not. After an opportunity with the Los Angeles Angels
- 6:38Speaker 1: fell through, Could YACHTI join that staff maybe, But right
- 6:42Speaker 1: now the Cardinals will not really able to find a
- 6:44Speaker 1: spot for Yachti on the major league staff that makes
- 6:46Speaker 1: sense for everyone's schedule and everyone's preferences. They do obviously
- 6:50Speaker 1: remain open to having him in the organization, maybe a
- 6:53Speaker 1: special instructor similar to last year's role where he's apt
- 6:56Speaker 1: in spring training this year instead and working with that
- 6:59Speaker 1: group of young catchers, because the Cardinals do actually have
- 7:02Speaker 1: a ton of young catching talent that we should be
- 7:04Speaker 1: excited about. Minor other changes, Head trainer Adam Olsen has
- 7:10Speaker 1: been promoted to a role in the front office or
- 7:12Speaker 1: he'll oversee director of Medical training, and so that means
- 7:15Speaker 1: The Cardinals will also be hiring a new head trainer
- 7:17Speaker 1: as well. Heim Bloom also will still look to hire
- 7:20Speaker 1: a general manager, but as he said in his introductory
- 7:23Speaker 1: press conference at September, that might not take place this
- 7:26Speaker 1: off season. So let's go ahead and break down what
- 7:31Speaker 1: the main emphasis is going to be outside of the roster.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Of course, for heinm Bloom in the new regime, the
- 7:37Speaker 1: emphasis will focus on adding to the scouting departments. Let
- 7:42Speaker 1: me change this, let me find another how do I
- 7:44Speaker 1: do this? Hold on? There? It is as myself and
- 7:54Speaker 1: the athletic beat writer for the Houston Astros and co
- 7:57Speaker 1: hosts of the Rushety podcast, Chandler Rome reported hein Bloom
- 8:01Speaker 1: did hire the former Astros farm director and added that
- 8:04Speaker 1: pro scouting director hire on Friday. So before we break
- 8:08Speaker 1: down what those hires mean, let's kind of establish who
- 8:11Speaker 1: they are. So the director of Pro Acquisition that will
- 8:13Speaker 1: be the same title necessarily as the pro Scouting director.
- 8:16Speaker 1: That's Joe Douglas. So the Cardinals hired him to oversee
- 8:19Speaker 1: the professional Scouting department and his job will be to
- 8:23Speaker 1: work under Randy Flores, the director, the Cardinals assistant GM
- 8:27Speaker 1: and director of Scouting his job is not changing, He's
- 8:29Speaker 1: just getting more support. This will be all pro scout
- 8:32Speaker 1: and player acquisition from the professional level focused. So the
- 8:35Speaker 1: way scouting works, let's break it down. Under Randy Floores,
- 8:38Speaker 1: there's amateur scouting, so that's like the MLB draft, high
- 8:41Speaker 1: school collegiate players. There's pro scouting MLB and minor league scouting,
- 8:45Speaker 1: and then international scouting. Obviously Latin America, Asia, you take
- 8:48Speaker 1: your pick. International seam is pretty self explanatory, even in
- 8:51Speaker 1: baseball terms. So Randy floor Is the title as scouting
- 8:54Speaker 1: director is not changing. They're just adding more support, especially
- 8:58Speaker 1: in the pro scouting department, an area that many organizations
- 9:02Speaker 1: are cutting or outright eliminating in lieu of programming and
- 9:05Speaker 1: analytic models. Himlum doesn't want to do that. He believes
- 9:08Speaker 1: in having a little bit of both and having a
- 9:10Speaker 1: full staff of trained scouts on the scene. So that's
- 9:14Speaker 1: why he brought back all seven of the Cardinals pro
- 9:16Speaker 1: scouts and they will report under Joe Douglas. Background on
- 9:20Speaker 1: Joe Douglas, who is e will He just spent eight
- 9:22Speaker 1: seasons in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization and most recently served
- 9:25Speaker 1: as the head of player analysis So this is a
- 9:27Speaker 1: new position for Saint Louis, but clearly someone who has
- 9:30Speaker 1: plenty of experience in the whole acquisition process. Douglas will
- 9:36Speaker 1: help facilitate the Cardinals player acquisition process overall, and his
- 9:39Speaker 1: main responsibility responsibilities will again be that pro scouting department.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Seven pro scouts doesn't sound like a lot, but the
- 9:47Speaker 1: Chicago Cubs don't have any, and the Minnesota Twins have
- 9:51Speaker 1: one as an example of two organizations that have really
- 9:54Speaker 1: cut those departments to the extremes. So that will be
- 9:58Speaker 1: a new way of augmenting the professional scouting department. Now
- 10:02Speaker 1: let's go to International scouting. Jacob Buffo, the Astro's former
- 10:06Speaker 1: farm director, was hired. He's a Missouri State University a graduate.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I'm sorry. He was hired as the International Scouting director.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Graduate of Missouri State University and co founded a baseball
- 10:15Speaker 1: performance facility in Saint Louis. So a local guy. He
- 10:18Speaker 1: spent seven organizations with the Houston Astros, and according to
- 10:22Speaker 1: the Astros media guy, Buffo was responsible for building the
- 10:24Speaker 1: organization's first performance science department and in his most recent role,
- 10:28Speaker 1: oversaw biomechanics, sports sciences, and player developments. So you want
- 10:32Speaker 1: to ask, how does that really correlate with international scouting.
- 10:35Speaker 1: That's a good question. But this is someone who's going
- 10:37Speaker 1: to work alongside Moys Rodriguez, who has been the director
- 10:40Speaker 1: of International Scouting for a very long time. His role
- 10:43Speaker 1: again isn't changing. This is just adding more support to
- 10:46Speaker 1: international scouting. And when you look at what the Bajor
- 10:49Speaker 1: League Baseball is doing from an international standpoint, making sure
- 10:52Speaker 1: you have a presence in Latin America is one of
- 10:55Speaker 1: the top ways to expedite a rebuild. And when you
- 10:58Speaker 1: look at what heim Bloom died in Tampa Bay and
- 10:59Speaker 1: in Boston, that a pretty heavy emphasis in Latin America
- 11:02Speaker 1: those organizations did. So this will be good for the Cardinals,
- 11:06Speaker 1: who I know we've all had our qualms about scouting.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Amateur scouting I still think is fine, and it's also
- 11:11Speaker 1: aided by the fact that the Cardinals had two top
- 11:14Speaker 1: ten picks in the last two years. But the problems
- 11:16Speaker 1: with scouting haven't necessarily been amateur. It's been more about
- 11:19Speaker 1: not having enough people in the other departments. One thing
- 11:23Speaker 1: that I want to make very clear. Last year we
- 11:27Speaker 1: talked so much, rightfully so about the overhaul, the modernization,
- 11:31Speaker 1: the revamp of the player development department. We're going to
- 11:35Speaker 1: be talking a lot about the scouting department and all
- 11:38Speaker 1: the additions, both from a staffing perspective and resources funding.
- 11:43Speaker 1: But what the Cardinals are doing here is a lot
- 11:45Speaker 1: different than what they're doing in player development. I don't
- 11:48Speaker 1: necessarily think, and I don't think the organization believes this
- 11:51Speaker 1: as well, that there was something wrong with the scouting
- 11:54Speaker 1: with internationally. I think they just didn't have enough people,
- 11:58Speaker 1: and I think a lot of people were being spread
- 12:00Speaker 1: thin and not believe have been able to do a
- 12:02Speaker 1: lot of their jobs. I think the Cardinals have done
- 12:04Speaker 1: a nice job, especially lately, of identifying international talent. They
- 12:07Speaker 1: just didn't have enough people assigned to that department, and
- 12:10Speaker 1: that was one thing that Jim came in and said, yeah,
- 12:12Speaker 1: we should fix this. So when you're seeing different positions
- 12:15Speaker 1: being added, especially to the international side, it's not because
- 12:18Speaker 1: it was in the same shape as player development. It wasn't.
- 12:21Speaker 1: It's just they just didn't have enough of it. It's
- 12:24Speaker 1: very modernized. I think they're making strides in the right direction.
- 12:26Speaker 1: A lot of good people doing a lot of good
- 12:28Speaker 1: things in that department. They just needed more. So these
- 12:30Speaker 1: hires from the international standpoint are expected to just add
- 12:34Speaker 1: support and give the directors more chance to actually do
- 12:37Speaker 1: their jobs and acquire talent from the professional scouting department.
- 12:41Speaker 1: That is more, I think, kind of creating some uniformity
- 12:44Speaker 1: and actually having a department that can strictly focus on
- 12:49Speaker 1: the professional scouting and player acquisition. The Cardinals have missed
- 12:52Speaker 1: a little bit on trades, and that is a two
- 12:54Speaker 1: way street. It also comes to the former President Baseball Operations,
- 12:57Speaker 1: John Mozelov, being able to, you know, nails sealed the
- 13:01Speaker 1: deal in those kinds of trades and find the talent
- 13:04Speaker 1: that the Cardinals wanted. So I don't think it's fair
- 13:06Speaker 1: to totally blame that on professional scouting. But one thing
- 13:08Speaker 1: that I want to make very clear, as we go
- 13:10Speaker 1: into this offseason, we're going to hear more and more
- 13:13Speaker 1: about different positions being added in scouting departments. This rehaul
- 13:17Speaker 1: is much different than the player development modernization. This is
- 13:21Speaker 1: about adding more resources and continuing the work and the
- 13:24Speaker 1: changes already been going on, especially internationally well last year.
- 13:28Speaker 1: The revamp of the player development was because that part
- 13:31Speaker 1: of the organization was so outdated. I don't see that
- 13:34Speaker 1: here with scouting so that has been going on behind
- 13:37Speaker 1: the scenes in Cardinals land. We will have within the
- 13:41Speaker 1: next five days off season news to monitor. Miles Michaelis
- 13:47Speaker 1: is officially a free agent. That's the only free agent
- 13:48Speaker 1: the Cardinals have right now. The off season begins technically today.
- 13:54Speaker 1: All free agents, I believe one hundred and thirty seven
- 13:56Speaker 1: of them, have five days to negoti with their current
- 14:01Speaker 1: team on coming back on a deal. Once that five
- 14:03Speaker 1: day window expires, their officially unrestricted free agents and consign
- 14:07Speaker 1: with anyone. The unofficial start day of the off season
- 14:11Speaker 1: is MLB's GM meetings, and those are scheduled to begin.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Let me pull out my calendar again because I don't
- 14:16Speaker 1: I don't know what date is November tenth in Las Vegas.
- 14:20Speaker 1: So I hope everyone enjoys their seven day off season.
- 14:23Speaker 1: That's when we'll start to kind of hear what teams
- 14:25Speaker 1: are looking to do from a roster standpoint. Right now,
- 14:28Speaker 1: the only thing that teams not in the playoffs have
- 14:29Speaker 1: been able to do because there have been no players
- 14:32Speaker 1: to go acquire, has been revamped their own internal workings.
- 14:35Speaker 1: So we've seen Hein Bloom get off to a good
- 14:37Speaker 1: start with that he pledged at his press conference that
- 14:40Speaker 1: he was looking to add positions, not subtract. He retained
- 14:43Speaker 1: most of the coaching staff, very minimal turnover, some changes,
- 14:46Speaker 1: but has indeed added significant positions already to the organization.
- 14:50Speaker 1: So that's what we're out with the Cardinals offseason. Let's
- 14:53Speaker 1: get right into it with our DK DraftKings Player segment
- 14:58Speaker 1: of the week. Stay with me, okay, I don't think.
- 15:16Speaker 1: There we go our DraftKings Player spotlight. We have a
- 15:24Speaker 1: slow internet today, you guys. Let's pop up. Just give
- 15:26Speaker 1: me time. There we go. Our DraftKings Player spotlight will
- 15:29Speaker 1: go to none other than Mason Win. And congratulations. Congratulations
- 15:33Speaker 1: is an order for the Cardinals shortstop who just won
- 15:36Speaker 1: his very first National League Gold Glove award. Let's get
- 15:40Speaker 1: it for Mason Yay. Oops, that's on it either. Oh,
- 15:44Speaker 1: this internet is gonna bug me, guys. Hold on all right,
- 15:50Speaker 1: here we go, Okay, let's start over. Congratulations are an
- 15:58Speaker 1: order for Mason Win, the card shortstop just locked up
- 16:01Speaker 1: his first ever National League Gold Glove, well deserved for
- 16:06Speaker 1: a player who played through a tormniscus for four months
- 16:10Speaker 1: and made just three errors all year. He is set
- 16:13Speaker 1: the standard defensively for the Cardinals that shortstop, and he's
- 16:16Speaker 1: a true pro to cover. I think anyone that works
- 16:19Speaker 1: in Cardinals media will tell you Mason Win total pro,
- 16:23Speaker 1: great guido to just be around every day and certainly
- 16:25Speaker 1: worked very hard for these For this award, it is
- 16:29Speaker 1: well deserved. He's become the youngest shortstop at twenty three
- 16:31Speaker 1: years old to win the National Legue Gold glob So
- 16:34Speaker 1: congratulations for Mason. Caught up with a couple of people
- 16:37Speaker 1: inside the organization who stress again that Mason will be
- 16:40Speaker 1: good to go for spring training in twenty twenty six.
- 16:42Speaker 1: His opening day status should not be impacted. Very excited
- 16:46Speaker 1: for mister Mason Winn, who I think will be the
- 16:48Speaker 1: first to tell you that what he achieved a ton
- 16:50Speaker 1: of stuff defensively, was certainly not happy with his offensive ceiling,
- 16:54Speaker 1: and I expect that to be a big focal point
- 16:56Speaker 1: for him coming into next year. But right now, let's
- 16:58Speaker 1: go ahead and celebrate one of the best defensive shortstops
- 17:01Speaker 1: I've seen. And I think if we're looking towards a
- 17:06Speaker 1: period of contention, Mason Win when the Cardinals get there,
- 17:09Speaker 1: will be right in the center of it all. So yeah,
- 17:14Speaker 1: congratulations Mason Win. Injury updates on the three other players
- 17:17Speaker 1: who underwent surgery. Brendan Donovan, Evon Herrera will be good
- 17:20Speaker 1: to go for spring training, and Lars new Bar. They
- 17:23Speaker 1: didn't give him a timetable because they just kind of
- 17:25Speaker 1: want to play it by ear. I know. Hein Bloom
- 17:27Speaker 1: went on kmox Sports on a Sunday with Matt Polly
- 17:29Speaker 1: and said that his opening day question or opening day
- 17:31Speaker 1: status is in jeopardy. I think with new Bar, we
- 17:35Speaker 1: have to remember that he is, unfortunately a player who
- 17:37Speaker 1: is injury prone, and his recovery time does take a
- 17:41Speaker 1: little bit longer than the standard recovery time sometimes. But
- 17:44Speaker 1: as we sit here in November, it's just simply too
- 17:46Speaker 1: early to predict what that recovery will look like, which
- 17:49Speaker 1: I think is why the Cardinals are being a little
- 17:51Speaker 1: vague on that timeline. They just don't know. It depends
- 17:54Speaker 1: on the player. A good article from Lars about Lars
- 17:57Speaker 1: from Derek goul and the Saint Louis Post Dispatch kind
- 17:59Speaker 1: of just kind of explaining where he stands, how he's rehabbing,
- 18:03Speaker 1: and why that surgery is needed in the first place.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Go check it out. But yeah, three out of the
- 18:08Speaker 1: four players, including Mason Winn should be locks to start
- 18:11Speaker 1: for normal spring trainings. We will monitor Lars Newbar accordingly.
- 18:15Speaker 1: A special shout out to Victor Scott, the second friend
- 18:17Speaker 1: of the show, who was nominated in center field for
- 18:19Speaker 1: the Gold Glove Award as well. That award went to
- 18:21Speaker 1: Peko Armstrong of the Chicago Cubs, but Victor Scott certainly
- 18:25Speaker 1: notable for what he did defensively as well. All Right,
- 18:28Speaker 1: that is our DraftKings player segment. You can download the

- 19:12Speaker 1: All right, so this is very fitting that all of
- 19:14Speaker 1: my adreads are lagging a little bit because I have
- 19:19Speaker 1: some bittersweet news for you all. This is my last
- 19:23Speaker 1: episode hosting Cardinal Territory. Now don't worry, the show will
- 19:26Speaker 1: go on just without me. I want to make very
- 19:29Speaker 1: clear that this was my decision. As the off season begins,
- 19:32Speaker 1: we have some changes coming up across the board, and
- 19:35Speaker 1: stepping down from the host role for this show just
- 19:38Speaker 1: made the most sense. With all those changes factoring in,
- 19:41Speaker 1: the new version of Cardinal Territory will begin very soon,
- 19:44Speaker 1: as early as next week, and I think you will
- 19:46Speaker 1: all love the new hosts, and if you are Cardinals fans,
- 19:48Speaker 1: you'll also be quite familiar with them. Again, this is
- 19:52Speaker 1: totally my decision. I really loved working at Foul Territory.
- 19:55Speaker 1: I've loved this podcast, but with a lot of things
- 19:57Speaker 1: kind of up in the air this offseason and some
- 19:59Speaker 1: changes happening, stepping down made the most sense, not just
- 20:02Speaker 1: for myself, but for the show. We'd obviously didn't have
- 20:04Speaker 1: a ton of episodes in October and in September it
- 20:07Speaker 1: became really hard to record consistently, and I just wanted
- 20:11Speaker 1: to make sure that we're leaving this podcast and the
- 20:14Speaker 1: show in good hands, and I truly think we are,
- 20:17Speaker 1: so I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has liked, subscribed, watched,
- 20:24Speaker 1: or interacted with the show and any capacity. I really
- 20:27Speaker 1: did have so much fun doing this with Bernie, with
- 20:29Speaker 1: our interview guests. This was a different media for me
- 20:32Speaker 1: to try as someone who had pledged to be a
- 20:34Speaker 1: writer only, and I appreciate everyone who stuck with me,
- 20:38Speaker 1: especially early on with those ad breeds. Again, I did
- 20:42Speaker 1: really I got so much better with them. I don't
- 20:44Speaker 1: know why they were so bad this episode whatever, but
- 20:47Speaker 1: you really made the show fun for me. I still
- 20:49Speaker 1: hope to contribute to the Foul Territory Network as well
- 20:52Speaker 1: on occasion those guys from Scott to AJ to Kratz,
- 20:55Speaker 1: to our producers, Mark and Jeremy and Claudia, everyone across
- 20:58Speaker 1: the board, George and our social time team. I feel
- 21:01Speaker 1: really thankful to have been able to contribute to this
- 21:02Speaker 1: network for the last almost a year now, and again
- 21:06Speaker 1: I'm very confident I'm leaving it in good hands, but
- 21:09Speaker 1: that will not mean that I won't miss you, So
- 21:11Speaker 1: I sincerely hope you all stick around for the show.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Who knows, maybe I'll be invited on as a contributor
- 21:16Speaker 1: next year some point during the season, and again I
- 21:19Speaker 1: still hope to make regular appearances on Foul Territory, and
- 21:21Speaker 1: I still will be of course at the athletics, so
- 21:23Speaker 1: you can find me there. But again, thank you, thank you,
- 21:26Speaker 1: thank you so much for all of you who have
- 21:27Speaker 1: subscribed and watched the show. I've enjoyed the commentary, whether
- 21:31Speaker 1: it's on Twitter or the YouTube comments. You guys have
- 21:34Speaker 1: made me laugh a lot, and it's been fun to
- 21:37Speaker 1: just kind of talk about the Cardinals when I started
- 21:41Speaker 1: this podcast, because rightfully so reporting and writing is so formal,
- 21:47Speaker 1: by the book professional it should be, but podcast you
- 21:50Speaker 1: have a little bit more ability to show some personality,
- 21:54Speaker 1: and I just wanted the show to be like something
- 21:56Speaker 1: where if you walked into a bar or a restaurant,
- 21:59Speaker 1: this is a converse you could have and you could
- 22:01Speaker 1: just kind of fit right in and talk without being
- 22:03Speaker 1: like super disparaging or negative about the organization, but also
- 22:07Speaker 1: acknowledging its shortcomings in a way that you can't really
- 22:10Speaker 1: do as an objective print reporter. So this was fun
- 22:12Speaker 1: again for me to try, and I hope that everyone
- 22:14Speaker 1: who acknowledged the show was able to at least come
- 22:17Speaker 1: away with something new or a different perspective and learn
- 22:19Speaker 1: something about their favorite baseball team. I know for a
- 22:22Speaker 1: fact that just because I won't be a part of
- 22:23Speaker 1: the show anymore doesn't mean that that will not be
- 22:26Speaker 1: the case going forward. I think again, you guys will
- 22:29Speaker 1: all love the new hosts and their brand. They are
- 22:32Speaker 1: a funny group of people. And that new episode, the
- 22:36Speaker 1: Cardinal Territory two point zero, if you will, should begin
- 22:39Speaker 1: very soon. So that's all I got from you, guys.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Plenty of things to break down for the Cardinals coming
- 22:43Speaker 1: up and what will be a very busy of off
- 22:45Speaker 1: season underhind Bloom. You can check it out again on
- 22:48Speaker 1: the Athletic and here at the Foul Tarritory Network. Cardinal
- 22:51Speaker 1: Territory has you covered. Thank you so much for having
- 22:54Speaker 1: me be a small part of it. Not goodbye it
- 22:56Speaker 1: to see you later. We will talk very soon. Thanks
- 22:58Speaker 1: as always,
