Speaker 1: Kevin bray Are UK and Europe correspondent. Now for an
• 0:02
Speaker 1: update on that vessel, the super yacht that sunk off
• 0:06
Speaker 1: the coast of Sicily.
• 0:07
Speaker 2: Gevin, Yes, Ryan. Just within the last couple of hours,
• 0:12
Speaker 2: we now know the identity of the man found dead
• 0:16
Speaker 2: near that coast. It's a Canadian Antiguan chef who was
• 0:19
Speaker 2: working on board the boat which sank just off Sicily
• 0:23
Speaker 2: near the Palermo the capitol. The name of the chef
• 0:26
Speaker 2: Ricaldo Thomas. This was a yachting trip for a very
• 0:31
Speaker 2: very wealthy British man called Mike Lnchi was described as
• 0:35
Speaker 2: the Bill Gates of Britain by selling a software company
• 0:40
Speaker 2: that he built from scratch for several billion pounds, and
• 0:44
Speaker 2: it appears that he might have been entertaining on board
• 0:47
Speaker 2: some of the lawyers that helped him in a legal
• 0:49
Speaker 2: case subsequent to that when he was accused of overvaluing
• 0:53
Speaker 2: his company incorrectly doing that and then the court actually
• 0:58
Speaker 2: ruled in his favor and he went on this yacht
• 1:00
Speaker 2: it's believed to celebrate. British investigators have now arrived on
• 1:04
Speaker 2: the site, so we now believe there are six still missing,
• 1:08
Speaker 2: one confirmed dead and a number of those have survived,
• 1:13
Speaker 2: but that man Mike Lynch, the British Bill Gates that
• 1:16
Speaker 2: he's being described, and also the chair of Morgan Stanley
• 1:19
  Speaker 2: Bank are still.
• 1:20
Speaker 1: Missing, interestingly, and I can only imagine given what the
• 1:24
Speaker 1: conspiracy theorist will do with this. But the code of
• 1:27
Speaker 1: fendant in their case, his code of Fendon also passed away,
• 1:30
Speaker 1: was hit by a car and died in the UK.
• 1:33
Speaker 2: Yes, so there, you're quite right. Social media is an
• 1:36
Speaker 2: absolute buzz with that, but there's no proof, I mean,
• 1:38
Speaker 2: apart from anything. The yacht sank in a freak storm
• 1:42
Speaker 2: and that was eyewitnessed from the land. But yeah, you're right,
• 1:45
Speaker 2: the conspirators having a wonderful time about this.
• 1:48
Speaker 1: Tell us about Scotland what seems to be going on
• 1:51
Speaker 1: there with the overdose drugged overdose youth death.
• 1:55
Speaker 2: Yes, so I'm afraid to say that the number of
• 1:56
Speaker 2: people who died in Scotland knowing to drug misuse has
• 1:59
Speaker 2: risen sharply. So the latest figures that are on record,
• 2:03
Speaker 2: which is for the year twenty twenty three, revealed that
• 2:06
Speaker 2: one one hundred and seventy two people died. That's up
• 2:10
Speaker 2: one hundred and twenty one, or a twelve percent increase.
• 2:13
Speaker 2: Now that actually sounds well quite a bit, doesn't it.
• 2:15
Speaker 2: But it's even worse when you consider that it is
• 2:18
Speaker 2: the worst record in Europe. It is more than double
• 2:23
Speaker 2: the number of deaths seen in England and Northern Ireland,
• 2:26
Speaker 2: and indeed it is significantly more than the next highest
• 2:31
Speaker 2: within Europe, so it really is a huge leap in
• 2:35
Speaker 2: The Scottish authority is trying to obviously do something about
• 2:38
Speaker 2: this now. It is thought cocaine was a factor in
• 2:41
Speaker 2: forty one percent of deaths. That's been up six percent
• 2:44
Speaker 2: from fifteen years ago. And the data that people living
• 2:47
Speaker 2: in the most deprived areas of Scotland were more than
• 2:50
Speaker 2: fifteen times as likely to drive to die from drug
• 2:53
Speaker 2: misuse has got government ministers in Scotland scratching their heads.
• 2:57
Speaker 1: All right. Given thanks to that, Givin Gray and your corresponding.
