- 0:00Speaker 1: Live from Midtown Manhattan, here comes the Mark Simone Show
- 0:05Speaker 1: on 710WOR.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hey, it's Wednesday already.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Well, it's practically Labor Day weekend. We're on the second
- 0:16Speaker 3: day of September. This just breaking. Tiger Woods, we heard
- 0:21Speaker 3: he was going into court with a plea deal on
- 0:24Speaker 3: that DUI stuff. Well, he came back. He was going
- 0:27Speaker 3: to trial. Supposedly, a plea deal was set. Well, It
- 0:30Speaker 3: just happened. The court just ruled Tiger Woods guilty, but
- 0:35Speaker 3: all he'll get is five years of a suspended license.
- 0:39Speaker 3: He will lose his driver's license for five years. That's
- 0:43Speaker 3: the deal. His girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, that's the ex-wife of
- 0:48Speaker 3: Don Jr., standing by him at the trial. It's a
- 0:53Speaker 3: good thing that he loses his license. He can Certainly
- 0:56Speaker 3: afford to have a driver. And this is not the
- 0:58Speaker 3: first accident. This guy, he and Billy Joel, two guys
- 1:03Speaker 3: that should not be driving anywhere. A number of accidents, incidents.
- 1:08Speaker 3: So he will not be able to, he will not
- 1:11Speaker 3: have a license for five years. He was pulled over,
- 1:13Speaker 3: swerving all over the place. DUI. He told the officer
- 1:18Speaker 3: who pulled him over, he first didn't admit to being
- 1:22Speaker 3: drunk or on drugs or he said he was looking
- 1:25Speaker 3: down at his phone and he was changing the radio station.
- 1:28Speaker 3: That's why that happened. You know, when the vehicle is
- 1:33Speaker 3: overturned and they're trying to pull you out of it,
- 1:39Speaker 3: you can't claim, well, people change the radio station all
- 1:42Speaker 3: the time. Not everybody flips over their car doing it.
- 1:45Speaker 3: So obviously that wasn't it. How was he trying to
- 1:48Speaker 3: blame some talk show host who got a little boring
- 1:50Speaker 3: so he had to change the radio station and that's
- 1:52Speaker 3: what caused all this? Well, he took a breathalyzer at
- 1:57Speaker 3: the scene and it wasn't good. They took him in.
- 2:03Speaker 3: He refused a urine test. He refused all kinds of stuff,
- 2:06Speaker 3: but no license for five years. That's probably the best
- 2:10Speaker 3: solution for everybody here. Make it a lot safer to
- 2:14Speaker 3: be driving around in Florida. Hey, this awful Times Square stabbing,
- 2:19Speaker 3: this crazy nut of a woman. And this goes to
- 2:23Speaker 3: show you what happens when you decide to just let
- 2:26Speaker 3: all the mental patients out and not institutionalize them. It
- 2:31Speaker 3: also shows what happens when you put them on those
- 2:33Speaker 3: psychotropic drugs. It says right in the side effects. May
- 2:37Speaker 3: cause homicidal behavior, maniacal behavior. And this is what happens when.
- 2:44Speaker 3: A judge, you know, the Cuomo, Mamdani, no bail, no jail,
- 2:48Speaker 3: let everybody loose when this kind of stuff happens. This
- 2:51Speaker 3: is a woman who had a number of incidents before
- 2:54Speaker 3: and every time was put back on the street. She
- 2:57Speaker 3: had two knives. She was, and her online stuff, her Twitter,
- 3:03Speaker 3: in recent months, she was talking about stabbing people for
- 3:06Speaker 3: no reason, online, posting it. But she wanted to just
- 3:10Speaker 3: go out and stab people for no reason. So, you've
- 3:14Speaker 3: probably seen the video. It's just horrible to watch. It's
- 3:16Speaker 3: a bunch of cops trying to stop this crazy woman
- 3:19Speaker 3: with two knives and he's, you know, spinning the knives
- 3:24Speaker 3: around with her arms are spinning around like windmills trying
- 3:26Speaker 3: to cut somebody. They tried to taser her at first.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Now it turns out a lot of people in a
- 3:34Speaker 3: realizes if you're fat, if you got a lot of
- 3:37Speaker 3: body fat, the taser doesn't really do much. The fatter
- 3:41Speaker 3: you are, the less effective the taser is. So they
- 3:45Speaker 3: couldn't make a direct hit. You got to hit the muscles.
- 3:47Speaker 3: The taser has to hit your muscles and that's what
- 3:49Speaker 3: does it. But if you're really fat, you got layers
- 3:52Speaker 3: of protection. So they did hit her with a couple
- 3:56Speaker 3: of tasers. One, she was carrying her purse around and
- 3:59Speaker 3: one hit the purse. So that killed that one. And
- 4:01Speaker 3: the other ones, they just couldn't hit the muscles. They
- 4:03Speaker 3: just kept hitting fat. Taser experts said that's a big
- 4:07Speaker 3: problem that people don't realize. If you're really fat, a
- 4:10Speaker 3: taser's not going to do much to you. Here's a
- 4:15Speaker 3: witness that was watching this whole thing.
- 4:19Speaker 2: There were so many police. Why didn't they grab her
- 4:21Speaker 2: by the arm? Yeah, she had mental problems.
- 4:26Speaker 5: There were no signs this would have happened.
- 4:29Speaker 2: This was all of a sudden, because she's never been violent.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Well, uh... But it was just a horrible situation. So
- 4:36Speaker 3: it went on for about four minutes, this woman confronting
- 4:39Speaker 3: the police, trying to lunge at them with a knife.
- 4:41Speaker 3: They tried the tasers. Finally, they had to shoot her
- 4:44Speaker 3: and kill her. But a horrible situation. But isolated incidents.
- 4:51Speaker 3: I mean, there's a lot of cases, a lot of crimes.
- 4:55Speaker 3: And every so often, one just catches people's interest and
- 4:58Speaker 3: it becomes just front page news for days. And we've
- 5:02Speaker 3: had stuff like this before. Overall, we have a lot
- 5:05Speaker 3: of listeners around the country who all think New York
- 5:07Speaker 3: is just violence, crazy. It looks like the movie Death Wish. No,
- 5:12Speaker 3: it's really not like that. You can walk all over Manhattan.
- 5:14Speaker 3: It looks like it always looked. It's just fine. Subway
- 5:17Speaker 3: crimes up a little, robberies up a little, rapes up
- 5:20Speaker 3: a little. But most of Manhattan, most of New York
- 5:24Speaker 3: is pretty safe right now, despite that crazy Mom Donnie
- 5:28Speaker 3: who's driving everybody nuts. Crazy Kathy Hochul. who's getting a
- 5:34Speaker 3: lot of flack for her hijab hijab hokal she was
- 5:39Speaker 3: going to speak at a muslim ceremony and she put
- 5:42Speaker 3: on supposed to be a hijab it wasn't really if
- 5:45Speaker 3: you look at it it's supposed to cover your hair
- 5:47Speaker 3: and your neck uh it was a big black scarf
- 5:50Speaker 3: tied to look like a hijab i guess she's trying
- 5:53Speaker 3: to be respectful but it looked ridiculous it looked like
- 5:56Speaker 3: stupid pandering uh for hokal uh You know, one thing
- 6:01Speaker 3: about the left that embraces the Muslim world, it's not
- 6:07Speaker 3: very good to women. Women have to cover up everything.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Women are not allowed to express themselves freely. So Hochul
- 6:15Speaker 3: joining in on that? I don't know. It's not a
- 6:16Speaker 3: good idea. The hijab stuff, the video, you're going to
- 6:20Speaker 3: see that in a lot of campaign commercials later. Hey,
- 6:23Speaker 3: good for Homeland Security, ICE. They came in and they
- 6:27Speaker 3: got a couple thousand very bad, illegals, criminals off the
- 6:33Speaker 3: streets of New York. That's a great thing. Mark Wayne Mullen,
- 6:37Speaker 3: Homeland Security Secretary, announcing they've arrested and gotten, they'll deport them,
- 6:43Speaker 3: a couple thousand, that's a couple thousand criminals out of
- 6:47Speaker 3: New York thanks to Homeland Security.
- 6:49Speaker 6: Over the last 30 days, Operation Rottenapolis has taken over
- 6:55Speaker 6: 2,100 criminals.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Off our streets. That's the worst of the worst. Yeah. Criminals, rapists, robbers,
- 7:06Speaker 3: gang members gone. Great news.
- 7:09Speaker 6: Operation rotten apple was an operation we decided to take
- 7:14Speaker 6: on because you have a very liberal slash socialist mayor
- 7:21Speaker 6: here in New York city that instead of working with
- 7:27Speaker 6: law enforcement, tries to cut NYPD's budget by $ 22 million
- 7:32Speaker 6: and refuses to work with federal law enforcement. You have
- 7:37Speaker 6: a governor that refuses to work with us.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Can you imagine that? Can you imagine if you went
- 7:44Speaker 3: into a coma in the Bill Clinton era and woke
- 7:47Speaker 3: up now and found out that Democrats are trying to
- 7:51Speaker 3: defund the police, they refuse to cooperate with law enforcement,
- 7:54Speaker 3: if there's dangerous illegal criminals walking around They want them
- 7:58Speaker 3: to have sanctuary. They refuse to do anything about it.
- 8:01Speaker 6: These are individuals that we took off the streets of
- 8:03Speaker 6: New York to protect the people here because you have
- 8:06Speaker 6: a mayor that refuses to work and actually, as I
- 8:09Speaker 6: said earlier, is trying to cut the budget of NYPD
- 8:12Speaker 6: by $ 22 million. He's extremely out of touch with what
- 8:19Speaker 6: the American people want and what public safety actually looks like.
- 8:23Speaker 3: So if somebody, a federal agency, came in and got
- 8:26Speaker 3: $ 2, 100 criminals off your street, wouldn't you send them a
- 8:31Speaker 3: thank you note or something? Not Kathy Hochul, not Mom Donnie.
- 8:35Speaker 3: They're fuming. They're furious.
- 8:37Speaker 7: The Department of Homeland Security, the agency created in response
- 8:41Speaker 7: to 9-11. is withholding 40% of New York State's counterterrorism funding.
- 8:47Speaker 5: We are talking about the money needed to fully fund
- 8:50Speaker 5: 12 bomb squads across New York. We are talking about
- 8:54Speaker 5: the money needed to ensure that in the event of
- 8:57Speaker 5: a catastrophic attack, the FDNY can communicate internally and respond effectively.
- 9:02Speaker 3: They're not really withholding it. They're asking you to cooperate
- 9:07Speaker 3: with law enforcement. If you refuse to cooperate with them,
- 9:09Speaker 3: you certainly can't take their money. You want their money? Cooperate.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Follow the rules if you want the money. And I'm
- 9:18Speaker 3: sure if Mamdani got this money, he'd put it right
- 9:21Speaker 3: into bomb squads, not some crazy, crazy stuff. It's just
- 9:27Speaker 3: an absolute mess, but good for Homeland Security. They want
- 9:31Speaker 3: to do this in Chicago, by the way. Chicago, crime
- 9:35Speaker 3: is out of control. You have 40 or 50 shootings
- 9:37Speaker 3: every weekend. Not Every year, every weekend, 40 or 50
- 9:43Speaker 3: shootings in Chicago. So the federal government is offering to
- 9:47Speaker 3: come in and clean up the streets, just like they
- 9:49Speaker 3: did in Washington, D.C. Send in the FBI, Homeland Security,
- 9:54Speaker 3: National Guard, whatever you need. Washington, D.C., violent, dangerous city.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Now it's safe. You can walk around at night. Everybody's
- 10:01Speaker 3: going out for the first time in a million years.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Restaurants are busy for the first time in years. They've
- 10:07Speaker 3: offered to do it for Chicago. Crazy Governor Pritzker, that big, fat,
- 10:11Speaker 3: Ralph Crandon-looking governor, refusing the help. Can you imagine that?
- 10:15Speaker 8: Unbelievable.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Unbelievable. So, hey, they have this G20 summit, which is
- 10:23Speaker 3: Scott Besson is our Treasury Secretary, our top economic official.
- 10:28Speaker 3: They have one of those in every country. So the
- 10:31Speaker 3: top 20 countries, it's actually about 25, but they still
- 10:34Speaker 3: call it the G20, all meet. Besson speaks to all
- 10:38Speaker 3: of them. It's probably a huge waste of time. I
- 10:43Speaker 3: don't know what the hell they actually accomplish at this thing.
- 10:46Speaker 3: But Besson talked about a lot of stuff, including China.
- 10:48Speaker 9: We've had very quiet conversations with Russia and China. And
- 10:52Speaker 9: I think we can move that discussion forward. As I
- 10:55Speaker 9: said with China on Iran, we have more in common
- 10:58Speaker 9: than we have differences. China agrees Iran cannot have a
- 11:01Speaker 9: nuclear weapon. China agrees that there has to be free
- 11:05Speaker 9: maritime trade in the Strait of Hormuz. Yeah.
- 11:09Speaker 3: And we've got an agreement with China. It's about as
- 11:15Speaker 3: good as an agreement with Iran. It never really holds up.
- 11:17Speaker 3: What about Canada? We discussed AI.
- 11:21Speaker 9: We discussed global imbalances where the Canadians have been very strong.
- 11:26Speaker 9: And we discussed how do we put the trade situation
- 11:30Speaker 9: back together. And I think that's going to have to
- 11:32Speaker 9: be done at the leader's level.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Yeah. Can you imagine discussing AI with Canada? Canada? They're
- 11:38Speaker 3: still using like Windows 3 up there. They still got
- 11:42Speaker 3: AOL chat rooms up there in Canada. That's the thing.
- 11:49Speaker 3: We don't really need Canada for anything. They need us
- 11:52Speaker 3: for everything. So I don't really know what they're thinking
- 11:56Speaker 3: up there, how they're going to win this battle. But, hey,
- 11:59Speaker 3: you got the midterms coming up. It was a good
- 12:01Speaker 3: sign in Massachusetts last night. They had their primary. And
- 12:06Speaker 3: in the primary in Massachusetts... Ed Markey won. Now, he's
- 12:11Speaker 3: a Democrat. He beat the up-and-coming crazy lunatic that everybody hates.
- 12:16Speaker 3: So the old senior guy won in Massachusetts. The old-fashioned Democrat,
- 12:24Speaker 3: that's a good sign. Now, Chuck Schumer might be encouraged
- 12:27Speaker 3: by that, but don't, because Ed Markey, as bad as
- 12:30Speaker 3: he is, an old fossil, he's a well-liked, loved Massachusetts guy.
- 12:36Speaker 3: And a soft-spoken, nice Massachusetts, sort of an old-timer. But
- 12:41Speaker 3: Schumer's not liked in New York. Nobody likes him. He's
- 12:44Speaker 3: a slimy, slimy, cheap politician. And Republicans, obviously, not going
- 12:51Speaker 3: to vote for him. And Democrats hate him now. So
- 12:53Speaker 3: everybody hates him. Schumer's got absolutely no shot at all. Now, traditionally,
- 12:59Speaker 3: the president, when you get elected, you lose the midterms
- 13:02Speaker 3: two years in. It's tradition. Always happens. One or two exceptions,
- 13:06Speaker 3: but 98% of the time you lose the midterm. So
- 13:09Speaker 3: it'd be normal for the president to lose it. But
- 13:13Speaker 3: this is Donald Trump. He's got two years left, year
- 13:16Speaker 3: and a half, two and a half. He's really concerned
- 13:19Speaker 3: about legacy, really concerned. So this would be a big
- 13:22Speaker 3: part of his legacy, defying the odds on this, winning
- 13:26Speaker 3: these midterms. So you'll see him do something in the last,
- 13:30Speaker 3: it's really going to heat up in the next few weeks.
- 13:33Speaker 3: It's September, October. That's where the campaign begins. And nobody
- 13:37Speaker 3: is better at pulling a rabbit out of his hat
- 13:39Speaker 3: than Donald Trump. So I think you'll see him pull
- 13:41Speaker 3: it off. Even the CNN pollster here.
- 13:44Speaker 10: In fact, the polls underestimate the Republicans. It's 53 Republican
- 13:49Speaker 10: Senate seats compared to 47 Republican seats. Maine, that stays red.
- 13:54Speaker 10: How about a flip in Michigan where Abdul-Assad, very neck
- 13:58Speaker 10: and neck in the polls with Mike Rogers. Ohio stays red.
- 14:01Speaker 10: Iowa stays red. Alaska stays red.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Now, I will note.
- 14:07Speaker 10: I will note that even in this scenario, right, you
- 14:10Speaker 10: still get a situation where North Carolina stays blue and
- 14:15Speaker 10: Georgia stays blue. But Texas goes red. See you later.
- 14:19Speaker 10: Ken Paxton gets elected to the United States Senate. No
- 14:22Speaker 10: James Tallarico.
- 14:24Speaker 3: It's amazing this guy still works there. He's the CNN pollster,
- 14:26Speaker 3: but he's always very honest and fair. He doesn't take
- 14:30Speaker 3: those fake polls seriously, but he still works at CNN somehow. Hey,
- 14:34Speaker 3: these data centers have everybody terrified. Data centers, you know,
- 14:39Speaker 3: it's just a big building and it makes a lot
- 14:42Speaker 3: of noise. It's just a noisy building is all it
- 14:44Speaker 3: basically is. But people are terrified of these data centers.
- 14:48Speaker 3: You know, they see them coming to way out there somewhere.
- 14:51Speaker 3: And then I don't know if you know this. Nobody's
- 14:54Speaker 3: ever mentioned this. We already have data centers in New York.
- 14:59Speaker 3: We have a couple in New York City. There are
- 15:01Speaker 3: data centers here. Nobody ever points that out. In the
- 15:05Speaker 3: New York City tri-state area, there are 72 data centers.
- 15:09Speaker 3: There's a few of them right here in New York.
- 15:11Speaker 3: They're not the biggest data centers, but they're data centers.
- 15:14Speaker 3: There's a bunch of them in lower Manhattan. They're in
- 15:17Speaker 3: New Jersey, right over there, Jersey City, Angle, that area.
- 15:22Speaker 3: There's data centers around there. We got a bunch of
- 15:25Speaker 3: them around the tri-state area, 72 of them. And they've
- 15:30Speaker 3: been there for years, so I don't think people realize this.
- 15:33Speaker 3: So these data centers, not as scary. As they make
- 15:36Speaker 3: them out to be. We'll get back to Canada. We've
- 15:40Speaker 3: got a lot of stuff to get to. And we've
- 15:44Speaker 3: got more on crazy Kathy Hochul. I think she's in trouble.
- 15:48Speaker 3: I think she's going to have a bad couple of
- 15:50Speaker 3: months coming up. We'll get to that ridiculous U.S. Open
- 15:53Speaker 3: and a whole lot more. Mark Simone here. Nine to noon.
- 15:57Speaker 3: It's three hours every day now. Nine to noon. On 710WOR.
- 16:02Speaker 2: The Mark Simone Show. Nine till noon weekdays. More Mark.
- 16:08Speaker 1: 710WOR.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Well, hey, it's almost Labor Day. I know, I can't
- 16:14Speaker 3: believe it. It's Labor Day weekend. You know, this was
- 16:16Speaker 3: actually the longest summer we've had. I know it seems
- 16:20Speaker 3: very short, but Labor Day is a week later than usual.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Memorial Day was a week earlier than usual. So you're
- 16:27Speaker 3: actually going through the longest summer of all. which felt
- 16:30Speaker 3: like it just went by way too fast. Hey, a
- 16:35Speaker 3: lot of the crazy left, the Democrats, now mad at Apple. First,
- 16:39Speaker 3: it was Google. Now, Apple Maps is... Now, this is
- 16:44Speaker 3: a left-wing site, media-ite, very, very left-wing site. Apple Maps
- 16:49Speaker 3: caves to Trump on renaming Lake Ontario to Lake America.
- 16:54Speaker 3: If you look on Google Maps, it'll say Lake America now.
- 16:57Speaker 3: And now, if you look on Apple Maps... Who looks
- 16:59Speaker 3: on Apple Maps? If you look on Apple Maps, it'll
- 17:02Speaker 3: say Lake America. So the left-wing furious that they caved in,
- 17:07Speaker 3: they're kowtowing, pandering to Trump. Well, actually, Google and Apple
- 17:13Speaker 3: make the case, and it's a very good case, that
- 17:16Speaker 3: that is officially the name now. It's not just Trump
- 17:19Speaker 3: shooting his mouth off as some private citizen. He's the
- 17:22Speaker 3: president of the United States, and his administration controls this.
- 17:26Speaker 3: The U.S. Geographic Names Information System, the GNIS, has formally
- 17:32Speaker 3: changed the name from Lake Ontario to Lake America in
- 17:37Speaker 3: the United States. That is officially the name. It's not
- 17:39Speaker 3: just Trump being Trump. It's officially the name now. So
- 17:45Speaker 3: Apple had to do it. Now, what they do is
- 17:49Speaker 3: the half, our half of that lake closest to us,
- 17:53Speaker 3: that's Lake America. The upper half, closer to Ontario, that's
- 17:58Speaker 3: Lake Ontario. So if you're in Canada looking at it,
- 18:00Speaker 3: it'll say Lake Ontario. But if you're in Canada, you
- 18:05Speaker 3: probably don't have Apple Maps yet. You're probably still using
- 18:09Speaker 3: a Motorola flip phone or something or maybe using one
- 18:12Speaker 3: of those Palm Trios. Probably if you're in Canada, they're
- 18:15Speaker 3: a little behind us up there. Hey, the House of
- 18:18Speaker 3: Representatives passed a resolution saying condemning socialism on Tuesday. This
- 18:24Speaker 3: is a democracy after all. You know, these Democrats love
- 18:29Speaker 3: to yell, Trump, a threat to democracy. Well, of course not.
- 18:33Speaker 3: But the real threat to democracy would be getting rid
- 18:36Speaker 3: of it and going socialist. That's the ultimate threat to democracy.
- 18:40Speaker 3: So it makes sense that you would vote for a
- 18:43Speaker 3: resolution condemning socialism. It's the most un-American thing in the world.
- 18:48Speaker 3: So you vote against it, obviously. Well, They took the
- 18:52Speaker 3: vote and the resolution passed, but it was close. It
- 18:57Speaker 3: was 220 to 192. And all the no votes, the
- 19:04Speaker 3: pro-socialism votes, all the no votes came from Democrats. Only
- 19:10Speaker 3: eight Democrats voted against it. Only eight voted against it.
- 19:19Speaker 3: It was a resolution condemning socialism 192 Democrats voted no
- 19:25Speaker 3: on this. So that's embarrassing. That is really stupid on
- 19:29Speaker 3: the part of Democrats. But they're doing it on the record. So, hey,
- 19:33Speaker 3: the U.S. pounding Iran last night, second time in two days.
- 19:38Speaker 3: It's the Strait of Hormuz. Large, powerful strikes. Now, these
- 19:42Speaker 3: are retaliatory because earlier in the week, the Iranians tried
- 19:49Speaker 3: to put mine in the Strait of Hormuz. All the
- 19:51Speaker 3: mines have been cleared from the Strait of Hormuz. The
- 19:55Speaker 3: Strait of Hormuz is open, what they call the southern corridor,
- 19:59Speaker 3: the half along the Omani coast. It is open. Price
- 20:03Speaker 3: of oil is down today. Now, This is a big thing,
- 20:10Speaker 3: keeping those mines out. And they pretty much have the
- 20:13Speaker 3: strait totally under U.S. control. Our ships control it. And
- 20:17Speaker 3: if they ever try to do anything, mines, whatever, we
- 20:20Speaker 3: just blow them up instantly. CENTCOM is Admiral Cooper. He
- 20:25Speaker 3: has what they call preemptive authority. They're watching this live
- 20:29Speaker 3: 24-7 with satellites. They're watching all activity along there. If
- 20:33Speaker 3: they see anybody trying anything, Yes, the authorities just blow
- 20:36Speaker 3: them up right then and there. It doesn't have to
- 20:38Speaker 3: get permission from anybody. And that's what they've been doing.
- 20:41Speaker 3: And then in addition to that, massive retaliatory strikes at
- 20:45Speaker 3: Iran the last two nights. So Strait is open. President
- 20:51Speaker 3: met yesterday with the heads of all the oil companies.
- 20:55Speaker 3: And the talk was about lowering the price of oil,
- 20:57Speaker 3: which you can do. We got more oil than we need.
- 21:01Speaker 3: We're overflowing with oil right now. No reason to keep
- 21:04Speaker 3: the price that high. Also, we got all the Venezuelan oil.
- 21:08Speaker 3: We now have control of it. And once that comes online,
- 21:13Speaker 3: it's going to be more oil than we've ever had,
- 21:15Speaker 3: than we could ever use. We're now the biggest supplier
- 21:17Speaker 3: in the world. The only thing holding back these oil
- 21:22Speaker 3: companies from cutting the prices is they know at some
- 21:26Speaker 3: point the Strait of Hormuz will be totally open. Oil
- 21:29Speaker 3: will be flowing like crazy. And then they actually say,
- 21:33Speaker 3: That'll be too much oil. We will have a glut
- 21:35Speaker 3: of oil, which will make the price crash. And that's
- 21:39Speaker 3: what they're worried about. There's going to be a crash
- 21:41Speaker 3: in oil prices coming soon. We love it. Oil companies,
- 21:47Speaker 3: not too thrilled about it. You know who's been a
- 21:49Speaker 3: great general in this battle is Scott Besant. I mean,
- 21:54Speaker 3: his role is economic, but he has been just destroying
- 21:58Speaker 3: Iran's economically... Listen to him yesterday.
- 22:02Speaker 9: We are tracking down the IRGC's assets, and I will
- 22:06Speaker 9: say it on World Wide TV, just so you know,
- 22:09Speaker 9: we know where in the British Virgin Islands your accounts
- 22:13Speaker 9: are at these trust companies. We know the $ 100 million
- 22:17Speaker 9: houses you have around the world, and we are going
- 22:20Speaker 9: to freeze those.
- 22:21Speaker 3: We are going to... Our partners, we are going to
- 22:24Speaker 3: close all of that down. Yeah, pretty good. So... They've
- 22:29Speaker 3: stopped all money, all revenue coming into Iran. It's been
- 22:32Speaker 3: shut down for a couple of months now. No revenue
- 22:36Speaker 3: has come in for months and months and months. We
- 22:38Speaker 3: have oil coming through the Strait of Hormuz. They don't.
- 22:40Speaker 3: They're losing about $ 500 million a day in revenue. So
- 22:43Speaker 3: you've got that going on. Now you've got Besant trying
- 22:45Speaker 3: to take the money they have and seize it, freeze it.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Whatever money they've got stashed away, saved, so they're completely
- 22:51Speaker 3: out of revenue. And whatever they've got saved, we're freezing.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Besant doing a great job on that. So we're going
- 22:57Speaker 3: to go after... the regime's illegitimate assets that they have
- 23:00Speaker 3: stolen from the Iranian people, and those can go back
- 23:03Speaker 3: to the Iranian people, or they can go to the
- 23:06Speaker 3: victims of terror, like the families of the soldiers who
- 23:10Speaker 3: are on the USS Cole or in the Lebanese barracks. Yeah,
- 23:14Speaker 3: or 9-11. So it's a great idea. We'll seize all
- 23:16Speaker 3: of this stuff, it'll be billions, and then release it
- 23:20Speaker 3: when the Iranian people take over their country once again.
- 23:24Speaker 3: We will stop this regime's ability to Have a nuclear
- 23:28Speaker 3: weapon to have their current highly enriched uranium to project
- 23:34Speaker 3: terrorist power through their proxy networks and to terrorize the Gulf.
- 23:41Speaker 3: So after 47 years, it is over. Yeah, good for Besant.
- 23:47Speaker 3: One of the great generals in this war. And you
- 23:49Speaker 3: should see the total collapse of the Iranian regime pretty soon. Now, remember,
- 23:54Speaker 3: all these soldiers, IRGC, it's about 180,000 of them. haven't
- 23:58Speaker 3: been paid for a couple of months. There's no chance
- 24:01Speaker 3: of them ever getting paid anymore. So we'll see what happens.
- 24:04Speaker 3: We've got a lot to get to, a lot coming up.
- 24:06Speaker 3: We'll take some calls a little later on. Mark Simone here,
- 24:09Speaker 3: 9 to noon every day on 710WOR.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Mark Simone, live from the WOR LifeVac studios.
- 24:21Speaker 3: Hey, we'll take some calls in a minute. 800-321-0710 is
- 24:23Speaker 3: the number. All right, now this is interesting. The fear
- 24:29Speaker 3: of these AI data centers. What is everybody afraid of?
- 24:32Speaker 3: It's just a building. It's a big building, but it's
- 24:35Speaker 3: just a building with computers in it. It's just a
- 24:37Speaker 3: building with some servers in it. What are you so
- 24:39Speaker 3: afraid of? Well, it uses too much electricity. Well, they
- 24:42Speaker 3: figured out how to fix that problem with small little
- 24:46Speaker 3: nuclear things. They use too much water. Well, they figured
- 24:49Speaker 3: out how to solve that with using recycled water. Now,
- 24:53Speaker 3: the problem is the noise, these big power turbines that
- 24:57Speaker 3: cool the noise from those turbines. Well, I remember I
- 25:02Speaker 3: said yesterday, they'll figure out how to make those quiet. Well,
- 25:06Speaker 3: that might be starting. You know, Elon Musk is about
- 25:09Speaker 3: to build the biggest data center in the world. And
- 25:13Speaker 3: in fact, it will be the biggest building ever built
- 25:15Speaker 3: in history. But, you know, there's two companies, two or
- 25:19Speaker 3: three companies that make those turbines. It's kind of a
- 25:21Speaker 3: little monopoly, these couple of companies. Elon Musk has decided
- 25:26Speaker 3: he'll make his own turbines. He's going to make turbines,
- 25:31Speaker 3: which the stock of those companies that already make them
- 25:34Speaker 3: started plunging as he announced this. But knowing Elon Musk,
- 25:37Speaker 3: he'll make them quiet. I mean, look at his car.
- 25:40Speaker 3: Look at the Tesla. You ever hear a Tesla? It
- 25:42Speaker 3: sounds like this. There's no sound. He'll figure out how
- 25:48Speaker 3: to make a quiet turbine. He's making his own because
- 25:51Speaker 3: he said he doesn't want to wait for these companies.
- 25:53Speaker 3: And he thinks he can make them better. And he will,
- 25:55Speaker 3: and he'll make them quieter. And then that'll be the
- 25:58Speaker 3: end of the controversy over AI data centers. They're going
- 26:01Speaker 3: to be everywhere eventually in a couple of years. And
- 26:04Speaker 3: nobody will ever remember that it was such a controversy.
- 26:07Speaker 3: As I pointed out, we've got 72 of them already
- 26:10Speaker 3: in the New York area. They've been here for years.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Smaller ones, but they've been here for years. There's a
- 26:14Speaker 3: couple right in lower Manhattan. Right in Manhattan, there's data centers.
- 26:17Speaker 3: So it'll be pretty common by then. Let's take some calls.
- 26:22Speaker 3: Let's go to Tom in the Bronx. Tom, how are
- 26:24Speaker 3: you doing?
- 26:26Speaker 4: Hey, Mark.
- 26:27Speaker 11: First off, I want to say I disagree with you
- 26:30Speaker 11: had Steve Cruz on the show the other day.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Crime is up in New York. It's just not getting recorded.
- 26:38Speaker 3: We gave all the actual facts. Crime, when the commissioner
- 26:41Speaker 3: says it's down, she keeps quoting the murder rate. Subway
- 26:45Speaker 3: crime is up. Rape is up. And robberies are up. So, overall,
- 26:50Speaker 3: the biggest crimes, murder, is down. But the little crimes,
- 26:54Speaker 3: and those are the ones that affect most people, they
- 26:56Speaker 3: are up, as we've been saying every day since the
- 26:59Speaker 3: police commissioner made that claim. Let's go to Mike in Florida. Mike,
- 27:03Speaker 3: how you doing?
- 27:04Speaker 12: Good morning, Mark.
- 27:05Speaker 3: Yes, Mike.
- 27:07Speaker 12: You were speaking earlier about Hochul wearing the hijab. I
- 27:10Speaker 12: think she's got to go full Berker. Have you seen
- 27:12Speaker 12: that mug?
- 27:15Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 27:16Speaker 3: She was going into a Muslim center to make a speech.
- 27:20Speaker 3: She thought she was wearing a hijab. It was just
- 27:22Speaker 3: a big black scarf tied around her. And a hijab
- 27:25Speaker 3: is supposed to cover your hair, cover your neck. Hers didn't.
- 27:28Speaker 3: So look, it offended everybody. The Muslims, the non-Muslims, everybody
- 27:34Speaker 3: got offended by her. Hey, we get on.
- 27:36Speaker 12: You mean her pandering?
- 27:38Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 27:38Speaker 12: Yes, you were going to say.
- 27:39Speaker 3: I'm sorry. Well, we get all upset when summer's coming
- 27:42Speaker 3: to an end. It's the end of summer. It's a
- 27:44Speaker 3: very sad time for us. Now, you live in Florida.
- 27:47Speaker 3: People may not realize. You're thrilled when summer's over, right?
- 27:49Speaker 3: Because it's the worst season ever.
- 27:52Speaker 4: Thrilled.
- 27:53Speaker 13: Thrilled.
- 27:53Speaker 12: Although it's still another six weeks or so of 90-degree weather.
- 27:56Speaker 12: And it's funny because all the pumpkin spices in Walmart
- 27:59Speaker 12: and all the long-sleeved clothes, the winter clothing is out.
- 28:01Speaker 12: And it's like, guys... There's another six weeks of 90-degree
- 28:05Speaker 12: weather and storms every afternoon. I don't know what you
- 28:07Speaker 12: guys are preparing for. It's not winter.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Yeah, so people don't realize they can't wait for Labor Day.
- 28:13Speaker 3: They can't wait for summer to be over in Florida.
- 28:15Speaker 3: It's the worst time of year. It's the worst.
- 28:19Speaker 13: It's brutal.
- 28:20Speaker 3: All right, Mike. Thanks for calling. You know, think back.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Remember we had those two heat waves? Remember it was
- 28:25Speaker 3: like 110 or something, whatever it was. Real fuel was
- 28:28Speaker 3: like 110. You really couldn't go outside. It was just unbearable. Well,
- 28:31Speaker 3: Florida's like that for about six months a year in
- 28:33Speaker 3: the summer. So the end of summer is the nicest
- 28:37Speaker 3: time of the year for them. Hey, you remember this?
- 28:40Speaker 3: You know, Rich Dad, Poor Dad, the famous book. So
- 28:43Speaker 3: you remember this author, Robert Kiyosaki? This was the self-help
- 28:46Speaker 3: guru who made a fortune teaching people the secrets of
- 28:52Speaker 3: financial success. And boy, did he have a lot of
- 28:55Speaker 3: followers because he would teach you how to be a
- 28:57Speaker 3: huge success financially. He's now about 80 years old and
- 29:03Speaker 3: it turns out he's 1.2 billion in debt. So if
- 29:09Speaker 3: you got a copy of Rich Dad, Poor Dad, throw
- 29:11Speaker 3: it out. Just toss it out right now. The self-help
- 29:15Speaker 3: guru who taught you how to be rich. He had
- 29:19Speaker 3: all these things. He's a billion two in debt, apparently
- 29:24Speaker 3: over very bad investments. His wife says it's not their fault.
- 29:29Speaker 3: They had partners in real estate ventures, and it's their fault.
- 29:33Speaker 3: But it's his fault. It's his money, his investments. This
- 29:37Speaker 3: enormous debt comes from his investments. strategy. So I wouldn't
- 29:41Speaker 3: listen to a thing this guy says. You know, a
- 29:44Speaker 3: lot of these self-help books, these guys are experts, experts
- 29:50Speaker 3: at how to make money off you, outside of you
- 29:54Speaker 3: buying the book, the video, outside of that taking the class.
- 30:01Speaker 3: Outside of that, they don't know what the hell they're doing.
- 30:03Speaker 3: It's like that Tony Robbins. He's got one talent in life.
- 30:07Speaker 3: That is selling you his course. That's what he does.
- 30:11Speaker 3: You can take that course. I don't know what the
- 30:12Speaker 3: hell you're going to do with it, but he's an
- 30:14Speaker 3: expert at getting money out of you for that course.
- 30:18Speaker 3: That's about it. Hey, we were talking about that Times
- 30:21Speaker 3: Square stabber. So I'm looking at her record. And again,
- 30:25Speaker 3: this started with crazy left-wing politicians closing the mental institutions,
- 30:31Speaker 3: letting these people out, crazy left-wing judges letting these people
- 30:36Speaker 3: back on the street. This Times Square stabber has a
- 30:39Speaker 3: long list of crazy incidents. 2016, belligerent, intoxicated, screaming, fighting
- 30:48Speaker 3: with NYPD cops, Lexington Avenue. 2019, screaming and yelling in
- 30:54Speaker 3: the subway station, then threw herself in front of an
- 30:57Speaker 3: E train trying to commit suicide. And the judges kept
- 31:01Speaker 3: letting her out over and over. And you got, I
- 31:04Speaker 3: hate to say it, you got a bunch of these
- 31:05Speaker 3: mentally ill people walking around. There's a number of these incidents.
- 31:12Speaker 3: And you got crazy judges that have been put in
- 31:15Speaker 3: there by crazy governors. Thank you, Andrew Cuomo and Kathy Hochul.
- 31:19Speaker 3: And thank you, Andrew Cuomo, for your no bail, no jail,
- 31:22Speaker 3: let everybody run around loose. And remember, Andrew Cuomo was
- 31:25Speaker 3: the guy that bragged about how he closed all the prisons.
- 31:28Speaker 3: He was so thrilled about that. Hey, people have been
- 31:31Speaker 3: complaining about prices. One of them is the cost of beef.
- 31:35Speaker 3: That has nothing to do with Donald Trump. That has
- 31:38Speaker 3: nothing to do with the government. The cattle supply had
- 31:43Speaker 3: all kinds of problems. The herds had disease, infections. The
- 31:48Speaker 3: herds were tinier than ever. That's what drove the price
- 31:51Speaker 3: of beef up. So President Trump has removed all tariffs
- 31:56Speaker 3: on beef imports for 90 days. That'll mean a ton
- 32:00Speaker 3: of beef flowing into the country, like actually 300,000 tons
- 32:06Speaker 3: will be coming in, 100,000 tons per month, all tariff-free.
- 32:10Speaker 3: That should bring the price down about 30%. Now, it's
- 32:13Speaker 3: only for 90 days. But apparently they know how to
- 32:17Speaker 3: get that herd back up. Whatever the disease, all that
- 32:20Speaker 3: stuff is, they've eradicated. So the president says in 90 days,
- 32:23Speaker 3: the ranchers will have time to rebuild their herds. They're
- 32:27Speaker 3: at a 75-year low right now. So that's good news. Hey,
- 32:32Speaker 3: we were talking yesterday about New York booming. I mean,
- 32:36Speaker 3: it's absolutely booming. You can't rent an apartment right now.
- 32:39Speaker 3: The rental market has exploded. Very little inventory left as
- 32:44Speaker 3: far as buying. big condos, really expensive ones, really expensive apartments.
- 32:53Speaker 3: It's increasing all the time. Sales are much bigger than
- 32:55Speaker 3: last year. And we were talking about leasing. When it
- 32:59Speaker 3: comes to offices and all that stuff, leasing is exploding.
- 33:03Speaker 3: There's a frenzy of leasing. You know, there's a new
- 33:06Speaker 3: building going up, Madison Avenue and 60th Street. It's going
- 33:11Speaker 3: to be a 60-story skyscraper. General Atlantic just signed a
- 33:16Speaker 3: huge lease, 150,000 square feet, five floors of the building.
- 33:20Speaker 3: And there's a bunch of these skyscrapers going up, what
- 33:24Speaker 3: they call the supertalls. There's a bunch of 60-, 80-,
- 33:27Speaker 3: 90-story skyscrapers going up. And companies are leasing the space
- 33:32Speaker 3: like crazy. Many of them have sold out already. So
- 33:35Speaker 3: this talk about New York's over, New York's finished, New
- 33:37Speaker 3: York's collapsing, it's actually booming right now. Real estate agents, commercial, residential,
- 33:44Speaker 3: are making a fortune right now. Hey, we'll get to
- 33:48Speaker 3: the silly U.S. Open. I'm not a tennis fan. We'll
- 33:52Speaker 3: get to this U.S. Open. I'm sure it's great tennis,
- 33:56Speaker 3: but what do you hear all the ways people are
- 33:59Speaker 3: exploiting these tennis fans, making a fortune off them? And
- 34:03Speaker 3: what do you hear how dumb these people are to
- 34:05Speaker 3: pay what they're paying for this stuff? We'll get to
- 34:07Speaker 3: that coming up. Don't forget, it's three hours every day.
- 34:09Speaker 3: It's nine to noon. I start at 9 every day,
- 34:12Speaker 3: 9 to noon. Then at noon, you got Buck Sexton
- 34:15Speaker 3: and Clay Travis. They're really interesting to listen to every
- 34:18Speaker 3: day at 12 noon. 3 o'clock, you got the most
- 34:21Speaker 3: listened to radio show in America, Sean Hannity. You got
- 34:24Speaker 3: Jesse Kelly at 6 every night. The very funny Jimmy Fallon.
- 34:29Speaker 3: Listen to his show. You'll get addicted every night. It's
- 34:32Speaker 3: 9 to midnight here on 710WOR. Well, I'm looking over
- 34:35Speaker 3: this forecast.
- 34:36Speaker 2: I mean, the detailed one.
- 34:37Speaker 1: It's not as bad as they make it sound with
- 34:40Speaker 1: this rain.
- 34:41Speaker 2: There could be a very good chance of some rain around.
- 34:44Speaker 3: 2 o'clock this afternoon. There's a very good chance around
- 35:00Speaker 3: 7 o'clock. No, I took that back. A 34% chance
- 35:04Speaker 3: at 7. So a little rain this afternoon. And then
- 35:09Speaker 3: late tonight after 11, you could see some rain. But
- 35:11Speaker 3: that's about it. So it's not rain all day. It's
- 35:15Speaker 3: not continuous all day long. And then tomorrow actually doesn't
- 35:19Speaker 3: look like a lot of rain.
- 35:21Speaker 5: No.
- 35:22Speaker 3: No, tomorrow should be pretty good. And then Friday, you're fine. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday.
- 35:29Speaker 3: It'll be great. Nice, dry, sunny Labor Day weekend. So
- 35:33Speaker 3: it'll be cloudy all day today, but a shower here
- 35:36Speaker 3: and there. And the same thing tomorrow, but a lot
- 35:38Speaker 3: of it will be dry. So we've got a lot
- 35:41Speaker 3: to get to in the next hour. We'll get to
- 35:42Speaker 3: that crazy Anna Wintour. I think they're getting ready to
- 35:44Speaker 3: throw her the hell out of that Met Gala. And
- 35:47Speaker 3: nobody deserves it more than her. And we'll get to
- 35:50Speaker 3: that silly U.S. Open and a whole lot more. We'll
- 35:55Speaker 3: get back to Kathy Hochul. And New York is not dying.
- 35:58Speaker 3: I'll give you some more numbers. You will not believe
- 36:01Speaker 3: how well New York is doing right now, real estate-wise, rental-wise.
- 36:05Speaker 3: People moving here. There's more people coming here than leaving
- 36:09Speaker 3: right now. And we'll get to all of that in
- 36:11Speaker 3: the next hour. Don't forget, it's 9 to noon every day.
- 36:13Speaker 3: It's three hours, 9 to noon. Back after the news
- 36:16Speaker 3: on 710WOR.
- 36:16Speaker 7: This is The Mark Simone Show.
- 36:22Speaker 8: On 710WOR.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Hey, well, this is hour number two. If you still
- 36:31Speaker 3: don't know, we are now a three-hour show. We start
- 36:33Speaker 3: at 9 a.m., so it's 9 to noon every day. Now, remember,
- 36:37Speaker 3: last hour we were talking about Google Maps. Started calling
- 36:41Speaker 3: it Lake America instead of Lake Ontario. Liberals went nuts.
- 36:46Speaker 3: Apple Maps started calling it Lake America instead of Lake Ontario.
- 36:52Speaker 3: Liberals went even crazier. Google Maps started calling it Lake Ontario.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Doug Burgum, Interior Secretary, does say that they did contact
- 37:01Speaker 3: Apple and ask them to change it to Lake America.
- 37:06Speaker 3: But Apple and Google both point out it's an official
- 37:09Speaker 3: name now. It's not just Trump shooting his mouth off.
- 37:12Speaker 3: There's a bureau of the Department of Interior that's in
- 37:15Speaker 3: charge of officially naming things. I forget what it's called,
- 37:20Speaker 3: but the Bureau of Naming, whatever. And they named it
- 37:24Speaker 3: Lake America. So according to the U.S. government, that's officially
- 37:28Speaker 3: the name. That's why Apple and Google went along with this. Now, MapQuest.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Does anybody still use MapQuest? Remember MapQuest? Remember the early
- 37:40Speaker 3: days of the Internet? Remember the early 2000s? You kids today,
- 37:46Speaker 3: why you wouldn't believe it? There was no Google. There
- 37:48Speaker 3: was no Safari. There was, what did we have then?
- 37:53Speaker 3: I'm trying to remember. Oh, there was, remember the search
- 37:55Speaker 3: engines were Yahoo. That was the big search engine. There
- 37:58Speaker 3: was AltaVista. There was, I can't remember the word, like
- 38:02Speaker 3: four big search. And then Google was invented later and
- 38:05Speaker 3: that took over. But in the early days, you would
- 38:09Speaker 3: use MapQuest. This is like primitive, you know, 2003. You'd
- 38:15Speaker 3: use MapQuest. You'd use Ask Jeeves. Remember all that stuff?
- 38:20Speaker 3: So apparently MapQuest is still around. Nobody uses it, but
- 38:25Speaker 3: MapQuest has stood up to Donald Trump, and they say
- 38:29Speaker 3: it's Lake Ontario. On MapQuest, they say they refuse to
- 38:32Speaker 3: rename it. They're defying the federal government. They're defying the
- 38:36Speaker 3: Trump administration. And guess what happened as a result? Remember
- 38:41Speaker 3: this crazy liberal's all over the place. As a result,
- 38:44Speaker 3: MapQuest is now the number one app on Apple. It's
- 38:48Speaker 3: the most downloaded app there is today. uh left-wing uh
- 38:53Speaker 3: liberal uh all downloading map quest now putting on their
- 38:57Speaker 3: phone uh okay good keep using map quest we'll stick
- 39:01Speaker 3: to google and apple maps hey the charlie kirk trial
- 39:06Speaker 3: will uh will uh start uh they have a strange
- 39:10Speaker 3: process in utah in other states you got a grand
- 39:13Speaker 3: jury and prosecutors and everybody go before the grand jury
- 39:17Speaker 3: they present the case quickly it's like done in an
- 39:19Speaker 3: hour And the grand jury says, well, that's enough evidence,
- 39:22Speaker 3: and they vote to indict. In Utah, you basically have
- 39:27Speaker 3: to put on the whole trial. This will go for weeks.
- 39:30Speaker 3: For weeks, you put on a whole trial for the
- 39:32Speaker 3: grand jury. And then they decide. Then the judge decides.
- 39:36Speaker 3: So that's the process. They went through that whole thing,
- 39:40Speaker 3: which is why you keep seeing all that video. And
- 39:42Speaker 3: you think there's been a trial. That's just for the
- 39:45Speaker 3: judge to rule that it's OK to have a trial.
- 39:48Speaker 3: So now the real trial will begin. It's a stupid process.
- 39:51Speaker 3: And it's also a horrible process for the families of
- 39:54Speaker 3: the victim because they have to sit through these trials.
- 39:57Speaker 3: It's a painful experience to see this evidence for the family,
- 40:01Speaker 3: for the widow of Charlie Crick. They have to see
- 40:03Speaker 3: all this video and evidence. It's just awful. So they
- 40:05Speaker 3: have to do it twice. It's really painful. But the
- 40:11Speaker 3: judge ruled in favor of that. So Anna Wintour. This
- 40:18Speaker 3: is interesting. It's heating up. I predict she'll be gone
- 40:22Speaker 3: from the Met Gala by the end of the year.
- 40:26Speaker 3: Anna Wintour runs that stupid Met Gala. It's been gone.
- 40:30Speaker 3: It used to be pretty good. In the 90s, it
- 40:32Speaker 3: was very, very elegant. It was the cream of New
- 40:36Speaker 3: York society. It was tuxedos and gowns. It was quite
- 40:41Speaker 3: the elegant, beautiful gala every year. And the prices, it
- 40:45Speaker 3: was expensive, but it wasn't crazy. It was nothing like that.
- 40:47Speaker 3: Could be $ 1, 000 a ticket, $ 500 a ticket. Not $ 50, 000
- 40:51Speaker 3: or $ 100, 000 a ticket, none of that stuff. But Anna
- 40:56Speaker 3: Wintour took over and started to shift it away from
- 40:58Speaker 3: that New York society and all those illustrious names and
- 41:03Speaker 3: started going for, you know, Kardashian-type names, tabloidy names, you know, hip-hop, rap,
- 41:09Speaker 3: music names. And she may have been right because all
- 41:12Speaker 3: those old society people, all those big names of the 90s,
- 41:15Speaker 3: they're all dead now. And with these people, with this
- 41:18Speaker 3: new crowd, they'll spend 10 times as much. They don't
- 41:22Speaker 3: know anybody. They'll spend $ 80, 000 a ticket, $ 500, 000 a table.
- 41:26Speaker 3: And they do. But she chose as her honoree John Galliano,
- 41:30Speaker 3: who's the biggest anti-Semite imaginable. You couldn't be a bigger anti-Semite.
- 41:36Speaker 3: It's one thing to make some sort of an anti-Semitic
- 41:41Speaker 3: remark at some point. But this guy, it was just
- 41:44Speaker 3: over-the-top insane. Insane, standing in the middle of a crowded restaurant,
- 41:49Speaker 3: screaming at Jews, saying Hitler was right, you should all
- 41:51Speaker 3: be gassed. That kind of stuff. I mean, insane, crazy anti-Semitism.
- 41:58Speaker 3: People in the restaurant would record it on video. In Paris,
- 42:02Speaker 3: at one incident, he was convicted of hate crime for it.
- 42:06Speaker 3: So this is the biggest anti-Semite you could imagine. Everybody
- 42:11Speaker 3: knew it. He worked at Christian Dior as a designer.
- 42:14Speaker 3: They threw him the hell out. As I say, he
- 42:16Speaker 3: was convicted of a hate crime for his anti-Semitism. So
- 42:21Speaker 3: Anna Wintour knows this and still makes him the honoree
- 42:24Speaker 3: for the gala. People involved in her, whatever it is,
- 42:28Speaker 3: her organization, screaming at her, you can't do this. Now,
- 42:31Speaker 3: they do this at the Metropolitan Museum, probably our finest museum.
- 42:35Speaker 3: The Met puts up with it because it brings in
- 42:39Speaker 3: a few million dollars for them. But the Metropolitan Museum
- 42:42Speaker 3: has a board of directors with a lot of A
- 42:46Speaker 3: lot of very wealthy types that all, many of them
- 42:51Speaker 3: suddenly make a fortune in hedge funds and all that stuff.
- 42:54Speaker 3: And they want to legitimize themselves, get some sort of
- 42:58Speaker 3: society credentials. So they start donating like crazy to the opera,
- 43:03Speaker 3: to the Metropolitan Museum. They're suddenly put on the boards
- 43:07Speaker 3: because they donated so much money. And the problem is
- 43:12Speaker 3: once you're on the board of the opera, You have
- 43:16Speaker 3: to go opening night. So here are these very wealthy
- 43:19Speaker 3: hedge fund guys, and they have to go to the
- 43:22Speaker 3: opera and the ballet, and they're sitting there in the
- 43:25Speaker 3: audience going, they don't know what the hell they're listening to,
- 43:29Speaker 3: don't know what the hell they're looking at with this ballet,
- 43:31Speaker 3: but they got to sit there for two, and these operas,
- 43:33Speaker 3: you know, it's like three hours. They go on forever
- 43:36Speaker 3: and ever. What did Jackie Mason say? If they weren't hypocrites,
- 43:40Speaker 3: they wouldn't have seats at the ballet. They would have beds.
- 43:44Speaker 3: If they weren't hypocrites, they'd come in their pajamas, not tuxedos.
- 43:49Speaker 3: What did he say? It's a bedroom for rich New
- 43:52Speaker 3: Yorkers just to sleep in. But being on the board
- 43:55Speaker 3: of the museum is a very prestigious thing now, the Met.
- 43:58Speaker 3: So apparently they're very upset about this Anna Wintour. Now,
- 44:02Speaker 3: this guy was so anti-Semitic. All the top Jewish organizations,
- 44:06Speaker 3: the ADL, everybody was going crazy with Anna Wintour, demanding
- 44:13Speaker 3: she get rid of him. And then politicians got involved.
- 44:15Speaker 3: The New York City Council Speaker, Julie Menon, put a
- 44:19Speaker 3: lot of pressure on Anna Wintour. So they got Galliano
- 44:24Speaker 3: to withdraw Anna Wintour, pretending that, well, she's done the
- 44:27Speaker 3: right thing, but she knew about this guy all along.
- 44:30Speaker 3: You got to figure she's a horrible anti-Semite to look
- 44:33Speaker 3: the other way on this. When you hear what he
- 44:35Speaker 3: did in the past, screaming at Jews in a restaurant,
- 44:39Speaker 3: Hitler was right, you should be gassed. Who the hell
- 44:41Speaker 3: would ever even talk to a guy like that again?
- 44:44Speaker 3: Who would even have anything to do with a guy
- 44:47Speaker 3: like that? So she knew all this stuff and still
- 44:49Speaker 3: made him the honoree of the whole gala. So she's
- 44:52Speaker 3: got to be thrown the hell out of this whole thing.
- 44:55Speaker 3: Condé Nast needs to get rid of her. So apparently
- 44:57Speaker 3: over at the Met, the Metropolitan Museum, this fancy board
- 45:00Speaker 3: of directors, they had a Zoom, a frantic, panicked Zoom
- 45:04Speaker 3: meeting yesterday to discuss what the hell to do about this.
- 45:09Speaker 3: The whole board of trustees and all sorts of billionaires
- 45:13Speaker 3: And a lot of them are Jewish, a lot of these.
- 45:15Speaker 3: And when it comes to the donors to this gala,
- 45:17Speaker 3: a lot of them are Jewish. How the hell could
- 45:19Speaker 3: you put the worst anti-Semite in the world in as
- 45:23Speaker 3: the honoree? So the Met Board is already meeting about
- 45:26Speaker 3: doing something. Now, how do you get Anna Wintour out
- 45:29Speaker 3: of there? It's her gala. She may be dirty, sleazy, anti-Semitic.
- 45:35Speaker 3: She may bring in the worst people. But in the end,
- 45:38Speaker 3: she brings in millions of dollars to the museum. So
- 45:41Speaker 3: they're a little conflicted here. And, you know, she's as
- 45:46Speaker 3: nasty as can be. So you're going to be in
- 45:47Speaker 3: quite a dogfight with her. But the board of directors
- 45:52Speaker 3: of the museum already in panic, having Zoom meetings. So
- 45:56Speaker 3: expect something to happen here. Expect some movement. They'll convince
- 45:59Speaker 3: Anna Wintour to drop out, something like that. Hey, we
- 46:03Speaker 3: were talking about how big things are in New York
- 46:05Speaker 3: real estate. New York is booming real estate-wise. Rental apartments booming.
- 46:11Speaker 3: You've never seen so much activity. Sales through the roof.
- 46:17Speaker 3: In fact, condo sales, really expensive co-ops, condos, the number
- 46:21Speaker 3: has increased. We're selling more now than last year and
- 46:24Speaker 3: the year before. But listen to this. The median rent
- 46:27Speaker 3: in Manhattan is now $ 5, 200 a month. That's a record high.
- 46:32Speaker 3: That's up 6% from last year. $ 5, 200 is the median rent.
- 46:37Speaker 3: And the number of apartments now renting for $ 50, 000 a
- 46:42Speaker 3: month or more has doubled since last year. Doubled. Now,
- 46:48Speaker 3: I know you're saying $ 50, 000 a month. These are the
- 46:52Speaker 3: same idiots that donate a fortune to get on the
- 46:56Speaker 3: board of the opera and then go sleep through it.
- 46:58Speaker 3: $ 50, 000 a month, more than doubled. Now, listen to this.
- 47:03Speaker 3: Apartments renting for more than $ 100, 000 a month. There is
- 47:05Speaker 3: such a thing. apartments renting for $ 100, 000 a month. The
- 47:12Speaker 3: number of them this year is up seven times what
- 47:14Speaker 3: it was last year. So you not only got people
- 47:17Speaker 3: pouring into Manhattan, very wealthy people. Now we're talking about
- 47:21Speaker 3: data centers. Nobody wants to be near a data center.
- 47:24Speaker 3: You know what is actually the most dangerous thing you
- 47:26Speaker 3: could have your building near? Or not the most dangerous,
- 47:31Speaker 3: but something that really is a problem? A dry cleaner's.
- 47:36Speaker 3: A dry cleaner's. Apparently, there's fumes coming out like crazy. Now,
- 47:41Speaker 3: a lot of these dry cleaners you see in Manhattan,
- 47:42Speaker 3: like the one over there in the corner, the one
- 47:45Speaker 3: over there, when you bring your stuff in, they're not
- 47:48Speaker 3: actually dry cleaning it right there. It goes to some
- 47:51Speaker 3: dry cleaning factory somewhere. So you don't have to worry.
- 47:55Speaker 3: But an actual dry cleaner is really doing it on
- 47:57Speaker 3: the premises. The fumes are not healthy. So that's a problem.
- 48:02Speaker 3: Here's a guy who lives above a laundromat. who's suing,
- 48:06Speaker 3: going crazy. He says the vibrations, the fumes from the
- 48:09Speaker 3: laundromat are ruining his life. That's actually much worse than
- 48:14Speaker 3: a data center. Oh, I forgot. I was going to
- 48:17Speaker 3: mention this. Who was it yesterday? Our caller, Kathy, brought
- 48:21Speaker 3: up Phil Collins and said, didn't he have a big
- 48:26Speaker 3: affair with Sue Simmons? Well, no. It turns out we
- 48:30Speaker 3: found out it was Dana Tyler, which... Sue Simmons, I
- 48:35Speaker 3: can't picture. Ah, Dana Tyler. Yes, I could see that.
- 48:39Speaker 3: Dana Tyler was at Channel 2. Very nice woman. Very,
- 48:41Speaker 3: very beautiful. Phil Collins and Dana Tyler. And it was not,
- 48:45Speaker 3: I wouldn't call it an affair. It was a real
- 48:48Speaker 3: love affair, romance. It went on for a long time.
- 48:52Speaker 3: Apparently she looked exactly like his ex-wife. So this is
- 48:56Speaker 3: the type he likes. He divorced the ex. He had
- 49:00Speaker 3: a long love relationship with Dana Tyler. But here's the problem. Apparently,
- 49:08Speaker 3: the ex came back, came back, and he dumped Dana
- 49:12Speaker 3: Tyler for the ex. And she was devastated. Devastated. then
- 49:21Speaker 3: he wrote a book about his life the phil collins
- 49:24Speaker 3: autobiography so in the book he talks about all the
- 49:28Speaker 3: loves of his life and there's no mention of dana
- 49:32Speaker 3: tyler she doesn't even get mentioned in the book so
- 49:35Speaker 3: apparently she was really really really crushed she took a
- 49:38Speaker 3: few months off from channel two but then came back.
- 49:42Speaker 3: Very nice woman. But that is pretty low, Phil Collins.
- 49:48Speaker 3: And then to not even mention her in the book,
- 49:51Speaker 3: and it was a relationship that, just Google it, you'll
- 49:55Speaker 3: see a million pictures of them together. You could have
- 49:57Speaker 3: mentioned it. We'll get to this U.S. Open coming up.
- 50:02Speaker 3: Here's a shocking poll. I don't know if it's shocking.
- 50:07Speaker 3: In this poll, they asked Democrats if we pay too
- 50:10Speaker 3: much attention to September 11th, about remembering September 11th. 72%
- 50:16Speaker 3: of Democrats say we should stop paying attention to September 11th.
- 50:21Speaker 3: They say Muslims have been treated worse than people of
- 50:23Speaker 3: other religions since the attacks. Well, that can happen with
- 50:28Speaker 3: attacks like that. So it's a shocking poll. I'm not
- 50:32Speaker 3: shocked that Democrats don't want to remember September 11th. Hey,
- 50:37Speaker 3: our friend Rosanna Scotto, Came back to work. She'd been
- 50:41Speaker 3: off for a couple of weeks. Her mother passed away.
- 50:43Speaker 3: Marion Scotto, great woman, passed away. But apparently she broke
- 50:48Speaker 3: down in tears on the air yesterday talking about it. And,
- 50:53Speaker 3: you know, there was a very, very close family. But
- 50:57Speaker 3: then she said, my mother would yell at me, stop
- 50:59Speaker 3: crying on the air. And when she came back to
- 51:02Speaker 3: work after a couple of weeks, she said, I had
- 51:04Speaker 3: to do it because my mother would be yelling, get
- 51:06Speaker 3: back to work. Marion Scotto, she was a wonderful woman.
- 51:09Speaker 3: You know, they own the restaurant Fresco's on 52nd Street.
- 51:13Speaker 3: And if you ever went there, when you walked in,
- 51:15Speaker 3: there was that older woman sitting behind the front desk.
- 51:17Speaker 3: That was Marion Scotto, hands-on, running the place and no
- 51:23Speaker 3: longer with her. Lived a nice, wonderful life. Lived to
- 51:26Speaker 3: be 90 years old. Hey, we'll take some calls next.
- 51:29Speaker 3: 800-321-0710 is the number. If you're a new caller, perfect.
- 51:32Speaker 3: We like new callers.
- 51:32Speaker 8: 800-321-0710.
- 51:39Speaker 11: 3-2-1-0-7-10.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Now three hours every weekday from 9 till noon on 710-W-O-R.
- 51:49Speaker 3: Well, let's take some calls. Let's go to Ken, Daytona, Florida. Ken,
- 51:55Speaker 3: how you doing?
- 51:57Speaker 13: Hello, Mark.
- 51:58Speaker 3: Yes, Ken.
- 52:00Speaker 13: How you doing?
- 52:01Speaker 3: What the hell is that behind you?
- 52:05Speaker 14: Phone.
- 52:06Speaker 9: Oh.
- 52:07Speaker 15: I'm a first-time caller. I just want to tell you
- 52:11Speaker 15: I really appreciate your common-sense approach to everything that goes on.
- 52:19Speaker 15: The thing I like to speak about is the data centers.
- 52:24Speaker 15: I would like to see Trump take the initiative to
- 52:29Speaker 15: build a data center, a prototype data center with no
- 52:35Speaker 15: red tape Put all the nuclear components that have to
- 52:40Speaker 15: be put there.
- 52:42Speaker 3: I know what you're saying, but Elon Musk is building it.
- 52:46Speaker 3: I'd rather have him do it. Trump's a great builder,
- 52:48Speaker 3: but if he builds a data center, it's going to
- 52:50Speaker 3: be all gold. It's going to have a ballroom, a
- 52:52Speaker 3: swimming pool. We don't need that Elon Musk. Hey, you
- 52:55Speaker 3: live in Daytona, right? You're next to that Daytona Speedway, right?
- 52:58Speaker 3: That makes more noise than that. Absolutely. How much noise
- 53:01Speaker 3: does that make? People live near that, right? We love it.
- 53:05Speaker 3: I love it, too.
- 53:06Speaker 15: I'm originally from upstate New York, and I escaped five
- 53:11Speaker 15: years ago.
- 53:11Speaker 3: All right. Well, thanks for calling, Ken. Yeah, if you're
- 53:14Speaker 3: in Daytona, Florida, if you're Charlotte, North Carolina, next to
- 53:18Speaker 3: that Charlotte Speedway, that makes more noise. That makes a
- 53:22Speaker 3: data center sound like a library. I mean, nothing makes
- 53:25Speaker 3: more noise than those racetracks. Let's speak of the devil.
- 53:28Speaker 3: Let's go to Kevin in Charlotte, North Carolina. Kevin, how
- 53:30Speaker 3: you doing?
- 53:32Speaker 11: Hi, Mark. I just want to add about the Phil
- 53:34Speaker 11: Collins story. Apparently, he texted her when he broke up.
- 53:38Speaker 11: Because I remember the story at the time to make
- 53:41Speaker 11: it even worse. And didn't even do it in person
- 53:45Speaker 11: or over the phone.
- 53:46Speaker 3: Oh, that Phil Collins. Dana Tyler is a very nice woman.
- 53:49Speaker 3: That Phil Collins.
- 53:50Speaker 13: Oh, yeah.
- 53:50Speaker 3: Texted her a breakup.
- 53:52Speaker 16: Wow.
- 53:53Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 53:53Speaker 11: He's a bad guy.
- 53:54Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 53:56Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 53:56Speaker 11: So I just thought I'd add that.
- 53:58Speaker 3: I think that's proof right there. Texting her that he's
- 54:00Speaker 3: breaking up. Let's go to. Joanne in Rockland. Joanne, how
- 54:03Speaker 3: are you doing?
- 54:05Speaker 17: Oh, good morning, Mark.
- 54:06Speaker 11: I'm fine.
- 54:07Speaker 16: Hey, I called you about four or five years ago
- 54:10Speaker 16: about a song I'd heard called I Think My Dog
- 54:15Speaker 16: is a Democrat.
- 54:16Speaker 3: Oh, I remember that. It's a country song.
- 54:19Speaker 13: Yeah, a country song.
- 54:21Speaker 18: Can you find it and play it again?
- 54:22Speaker 3: I guess, but you could find it. You could just
- 54:25Speaker 3: go on YouTube and type Type that in.
- 54:28Speaker 11: I'd like everyone to enjoy it.
- 54:30Speaker 16: That's all.
- 54:31Speaker 3: You're a little lazy, aren't you? You can't do this yourself.
- 54:33Speaker 3: I got to do it for you.
- 54:34Speaker 16: No, I want your audience to hear it.
- 54:37Speaker 3: All right. Let me see. I'm trying to do it
- 54:39Speaker 3: right now. It's a good song.
- 54:42Speaker 8: Because it's still appropriate.
- 54:46Speaker 3: Let me see here.
- 54:47Speaker 11: And it's very funny.
- 54:49Speaker 3: I'm trying to see. All right. Hang on. This is
- 54:52Speaker 3: on my phone.
- 54:53Speaker 12: Tomorrow is fine.
- 54:54Speaker 11: If you can't find it.
- 54:56Speaker 3: Hang on. No, it's a good song. It's by Brian Lewis.
- 54:59Speaker 3: Just Google it. You'll find it there. Actually, most dogs,
- 55:04Speaker 3: I guess, are Democratic because they don't work. They depend
- 55:09Speaker 3: on somebody else for food and shelter. So maybe that's
- 55:12Speaker 3: a Democratic thing being a dog. Let's go to Helen
- 55:14Speaker 3: in Bay Ridge. Helen, how are you doing?
- 55:17Speaker 19: Hi.
- 55:17Speaker 17: Good morning, Mr. Simone. You know, I'm calling you because
- 55:21Speaker 17: I don't hear anybody talking about the two mental health
- 55:25Speaker 17: laws we have in New York to involuntarily commit people,
- 55:29Speaker 17: Kendra's law and the mental hygiene law from 1972, I think.
- 55:36Speaker 17: And why do you think they're not using these laws?
- 55:39Speaker 3: Well, we've got lots of laws that aren't used. Thanks
- 55:42Speaker 3: to Andrew Cuomo, where there's no bail, no jail. Thanks
- 55:44Speaker 3: to his crazy left-wing judges he put in.
- 55:47Speaker 17: So it's okay for people like that?
- 55:49Speaker 3: No, no, of course it's not okay. But you've got
- 55:51Speaker 3: all these left-wing politicians that put in judges saying, who
- 55:53Speaker 3: don't enforce any law. And you got this crazy Alvin Bragg,
- 55:57Speaker 3: who actually on the first day in office sent a
- 55:59Speaker 3: memo to everybody. We don't put people in jail. We
- 56:02Speaker 3: just let everybody back out on the street. You got
- 56:04Speaker 3: to get rid of these people. That's why you got
- 56:05Speaker 3: to vote for Bruce Blakeman and law and order type governors, mayors.
- 56:11Speaker 3: You need that. That's the only way you're going to
- 56:13Speaker 3: ever fix this. Let's go to Vincent in Brooklyn. Vincent,
- 56:16Speaker 3: how are you doing?
- 56:17Speaker 13: Good morning, Mark. Mark, I'm okay. You forgot to mention
- 56:20Speaker 13: earlier that Ms. Common Sense, Julia Menon, is also responsible
- 56:25Speaker 13: for recently revamping these stupid outside dining laws. But that
- 56:31Speaker 13: being said.
- 56:31Speaker 3: We like the outdoor dining.
- 56:33Speaker 13: No, they suck.
- 56:35Speaker 16: Uh.
- 56:36Speaker 19: uh.
- 56:37Speaker 13: all the people whose loved ones were murdered and maimed
- 56:42Speaker 13: should start a class action suit and sue the new
- 56:46Speaker 13: york city board of health and the new york city
- 56:49Speaker 13: department of social services because ultimately they failed the populace
- 56:55Speaker 13: of new york and that's how we wound up with
- 56:58Speaker 13: that nut job in time square yesterday about sixty four
- 57:03Speaker 13: years ago One Sunday afternoon during the spring, and I
- 57:08Speaker 13: knew because a lot of my friends lived in this
- 57:11Speaker 13: apartment building. There was a crazy white lady in my
- 57:15Speaker 13: neighborhood throwing garbage, bottles out the window, cans, and she
- 57:20Speaker 13: was speaking gibberish. Somebody called the precinct. They came over
- 57:26Speaker 13: with two cops, observed it. They called up Bellevue. Bellevue
- 57:31Speaker 13: came down with a padded wagon. Two male nurses came out,
- 57:36Speaker 13: two cops, and two doctors. The doctors certified on the
- 57:41Speaker 13: spot that she had to be taken away. The cops
- 57:45Speaker 13: and the male nurses went up there with the doctors,
- 57:48Speaker 13: and next thing you know, this woman was coming out.
- 57:51Speaker 13: She came out in a straight jacket, and they put
- 57:54Speaker 13: her in the psych ward.
- 57:55Speaker 3: Those were the good old days. You're right, Vincent. Great point.
- 57:59Speaker 3: That's a good old day.
- 58:00Speaker 13: A class action lawsuit is what's needed.
- 58:03Speaker 3: It's a good idea. I like it. Thanks for calling.
- 58:06Speaker 3: We've got to go for the news, but good idea.
- 58:08Speaker 3: And when we come back, we'll talk to the brilliant
- 58:12Speaker 3: columnist Liz Peek. Coming up next on 710WOR. Mark Simone. Well,
- 58:21Speaker 3: Liz Peek, the great columnist, you can read her columns
- 58:25Speaker 3: on foxnews.com, or you can read her at The Hill,
- 58:27Speaker 3: or even better, just go to her website, lizpeek.com. A
- 58:31Speaker 3: lot of great stories up there, lizpeek.com. Liz Peek, how
- 58:35Speaker 3: you doing?
- 58:37Speaker 16: I'm well, thank you. It's countdown, the dog days of
- 58:40Speaker 16: summer here, Mark. And, you know, I hate to say
- 58:43Speaker 16: goodbye to summer, I really do.
- 58:45Speaker 3: I don't know, it was one very weird summer with
- 58:47Speaker 3: Canadian smoke and heat waves and... It was not the
- 58:51Speaker 3: greatest summer. Hey, the president met with the oil company
- 58:56Speaker 3: executives yesterday trying to get the price down. So with
- 58:59Speaker 3: the straits half open right now with the Venezuela deal,
- 59:03Speaker 3: what do you think is going to happen with the
- 59:05Speaker 3: price of oil?
- 59:07Speaker 16: Well, obviously, the administration. is going to do absolutely everything
- 59:11Speaker 16: possible to convince refiners to delay maintenance, I'm guessing, so
- 59:19Speaker 16: that there's no downtime in the refiners, so that they're
- 59:21Speaker 16: operating at very full capacity, which they have been doing.
- 59:24Speaker 16: I'm sure he's job hunting on prices, as we know.
- 59:28Speaker 16: Gasoline prices, when oil prices come down, gasoline prices follow
- 59:32Speaker 16: very slowly. That's just always been the case. People liken
- 59:36Speaker 16: it to a feather in a rock. You know, oil
- 59:39Speaker 16: prices drop like a rock and the gasoline price follows
- 59:43Speaker 16: like a feather. But honestly, Mark, right now, until there
- 59:46Speaker 16: is some sort of breakthrough in Iran, I just don't
- 59:51Speaker 16: see any particular movement here. I mean, unfortunately, Besson, I know,
- 59:56Speaker 16: is talking about Ukraine. and the fact that they're attacking
- 1:00:00Speaker 16: Russian oil installations. And that's true. That definitely has an impact.
- 1:00:04Speaker 16: Anything anywhere in the world that interrupts production and refining
- 1:00:09Speaker 16: has an impact. But the big issue still is that, yes,
- 1:00:15Speaker 16: there's eight or nine million barrels a day coming through
- 1:00:17Speaker 16: the Strait of Hormuz, but that's not what it was.
- 1:00:20Speaker 16: And even though Middle East producers have done a great
- 1:00:23Speaker 16: deal to offset the loss of 9 million barrels a
- 1:00:27Speaker 16: day that was coming through there, in addition to what
- 1:00:31Speaker 16: we're seeing now, you know, it's just not back to
- 1:00:33Speaker 16: where it was. So the pressure is still upward. And,
- 1:00:38Speaker 16: you know, I don't know what they can do to
- 1:00:40Speaker 16: change that. Yeah.
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: Hey, people in New York might think it's, you know, $ 4. 50,
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: $ 5 a gallon all over America. That's not the case.
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: But yeah, you wrote about Hochul trying to blame President Trump.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: Will she get away with that?
- 1:00:54Speaker 16: Well, it's not just gasoline prices in New York. It's
- 1:00:57Speaker 16: all energy prices are absurdly inflated. And I have to say,
- 1:01:03Speaker 16: I kept thinking for the last several months, maybe the
- 1:01:06Speaker 16: last couple of years, how are Democrats in New York
- 1:01:09Speaker 16: really going to explain to people the fact that energy
- 1:01:13Speaker 16: prices in New York are 60%, sometimes 100% greater than
- 1:01:17Speaker 16: the national average? I have to say, it never occurred
- 1:01:20Speaker 16: to me that they will blame... Donald Trump. So, you know,
- 1:01:25Speaker 16: is it really the case that our trade scuffle with
- 1:01:29Speaker 16: Canada is impacting energy prices in New York? No, it's
- 1:01:33Speaker 16: because they stupidly, foolishly, some years ago, Andrew Cuomo decided
- 1:01:39Speaker 16: we should not have fracking in New York, a position
- 1:01:43Speaker 16: that was then equally adopted by his successor, Kathy Hochul.
- 1:01:48Speaker 16: So we can't frack. So we're not producing the natural
- 1:01:51Speaker 16: gas locally that we need to produce electricity. That's the
- 1:01:55Speaker 16: number one feedstock for electricity. So not content with messing
- 1:01:59Speaker 16: up our natural gas supply, they also banned pipelines incredibly
- 1:02:05Speaker 16: from bringing natural gas into the state because they had
- 1:02:07Speaker 16: a vision of windmills and solar panels making all the difference.
- 1:02:13Speaker 16: So then they go ahead and shut down Indian Point,
- 1:02:15Speaker 16: which was producing a very solid chunk uh, a very
- 1:02:20Speaker 16: clean energy for New York city and New York state.
- 1:02:23Speaker 16: So they have doubled down on stupid over and over
- 1:02:26Speaker 16: again on our energy policy. And now really the whole
- 1:02:29Speaker 16: new England region adopted similar, uh, uh, foolish policies and
- 1:02:36Speaker 16: pretty much across the entire region. People are paying much
- 1:02:39Speaker 16: more than they should be for natural gas. I mean,
- 1:02:42Speaker 16: it's really a travesty.
- 1:02:43Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: Um, Liz Peek, doing the same thing with AI, you know,
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: yelling and screaming about data centers. Data centers basically just
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: a building with some computers in it. It makes a
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: lot of noise.
- 1:02:55Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:02:56Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:02:58Speaker 16: It's really sad, Mark. I mean, the progressives have taken
- 1:03:03Speaker 16: on trying to slow or even stop data center construction.
- 1:03:09Speaker 16: And yet, how do they send that message out? They
- 1:03:12Speaker 16: send it out on their social media accounts. They communicate
- 1:03:16Speaker 16: each other on iPhones, obviously. What's powering all that? Data centers.
- 1:03:21Speaker 16: It's so stupid. And not any one of them, not
- 1:03:26Speaker 16: Bernie Sanders, not any of the progressives talking about this,
- 1:03:29Speaker 16: we'll tell you what is the alternative. What are we
- 1:03:31Speaker 16: going to do? We're going to sit in America and say,
- 1:03:34Speaker 16: AI has some people worried, so we are no longer
- 1:03:37Speaker 16: going to be technological leaders in this new booming industry.
- 1:03:41Speaker 16: We are going to deny our electricians and plumbers and
- 1:03:45Speaker 16: construction workers hundreds of thousands of jobs that are now
- 1:03:50Speaker 16: on the line as the data center rollout continues. None
- 1:03:55Speaker 16: of it makes any sense, but People have been so
- 1:03:58Speaker 16: scared now about the data centers. As you point out,
- 1:04:02Speaker 16: it's nothing but a big agglomeration of computers. And if
- 1:04:06Speaker 16: you're worried that it's taking too much electricity in your
- 1:04:09Speaker 16: local area and boosting electricity prices, okay, your legislators are
- 1:04:14Speaker 16: on the hook to make that go away. And the
- 1:04:16Speaker 16: way they do that is they say to the data
- 1:04:18Speaker 16: center owner and operator, you have to pay for your
- 1:04:21Speaker 16: own electricity. You have to create it, build a small
- 1:04:25Speaker 16: power plant, whatever it takes. but you're going to make
- 1:04:27Speaker 16: people whole on this. This is not complicated. If we
- 1:04:31Speaker 16: had competent legislators, they would be fixing this state by state,
- 1:04:36Speaker 16: region by region. I don't want AI regulation state by state,
- 1:04:42Speaker 16: but certainly data center construction, just like any other kind
- 1:04:45Speaker 16: of construction, should be organized locally and they can resolve
- 1:04:51Speaker 16: the problems that people have. But to turn your back
- 1:04:54Speaker 16: on conceivably the most dynamic, meaningful, powerful new industry probably
- 1:05:01Speaker 16: ever created, Mark. That's not hyperbole, as Joe Biden would say.
- 1:05:05Speaker 16: That's real. It's just plain stupid.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: Hey, Liz Peek has a great website, lizpeek.com. There's always
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: great stories up there. Here's my favorite story today. Gavin Newsom,
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: man of the people, is selling his house. It's an
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: $ 8 million mansion. It turns out it has a 5,000-bottle
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: wine cellar, and he claims he didn't know it was there? What?
- 1:05:30Speaker 16: Gavin Newsom is honestly the poster child for trying to
- 1:05:35Speaker 16: be something he is not. What is Gavin Newsom? He
- 1:05:39Speaker 16: is a wealthy political elite in a very far-left state
- 1:05:45Speaker 16: who has gotten by on his good looks, certainly not
- 1:05:48Speaker 16: his accomplishments because he has done nothing, literally nothing over time,
- 1:05:53Speaker 16: but endanger the state of California. By endanger, I mean
- 1:05:57Speaker 16: endanger the robust economy, which in recent years has been
- 1:06:04Speaker 16: pretty much held up by not Hollywood, but rather by
- 1:06:08Speaker 16: Silicon Valley and all the tech people starting up businesses
- 1:06:12Speaker 16: in California. Gavin Newsom has enabled and encouraged that, to
- 1:06:19Speaker 16: his credit, But at the same time, he's always trying
- 1:06:22Speaker 16: to have his left hand out, shaking hands with the
- 1:06:24Speaker 16: people who want to slap on a billionaire's tap. So,
- 1:06:27Speaker 16: I mean, the most ridiculous thing Gavin Newsom has done
- 1:06:31Speaker 16: recently in his desperate quest to be taken seriously as
- 1:06:35Speaker 16: a presidential candidate was basically say he didn't approve of
- 1:06:40Speaker 16: the billionaire tax in California, but he would like to
- 1:06:43Speaker 16: see one nationwide. Okay, I'm not going to go along
- 1:06:47Speaker 16: with the SAIU and In my state, I mean, heaven
- 1:06:51Speaker 16: knows I don't want to drive billionaires and wealthy people
- 1:06:54Speaker 16: out of California because they're already leaving in droves, putting
- 1:06:57Speaker 16: the entire economy in jeopardy. No, I want this to
- 1:07:01Speaker 16: happen to the United States. I mean, really, you can't
- 1:07:03Speaker 16: make this up, Mark. It is so absurd. And of course,
- 1:07:06Speaker 16: all his, remember back during COVID when he was really,
- 1:07:10Speaker 16: really vigilant and very nasty about people staying in, not
- 1:07:15Speaker 16: going out to eat. Turned out he had a dinner
- 1:07:16Speaker 16: at French Laundry. Remember that? Talk about a high-class elitist activity.
- 1:07:23Speaker 16: It was preposterous, as he is.
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: Yeah. We got stuck with Mamdani, but the good thing
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: with Mamdani, it's all talk. He doesn't get anything done.
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: You'll never see these grocery stores. I don't think you'll
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: ever even see this pied-à-terre tax.
- 1:07:39Speaker 16: Well, that's a good question. It certainly has not been
- 1:07:42Speaker 16: rolled out well. I think people are really infuriated about
- 1:07:46Speaker 16: it because it has caught up. I would guess that
- 1:07:49Speaker 16: the initial list had as many people who are actually
- 1:07:53Speaker 16: residents of New York as people for whom these were
- 1:07:56Speaker 16: second homes. It was so badly done, and it's an
- 1:08:00Speaker 16: offensive and foolish idea anyway. I mean, think about the
- 1:08:06Speaker 16: perfect member of a golf club is someone who belongs,
- 1:08:09Speaker 16: pays the dues, but never goes to it, right? Same
- 1:08:13Speaker 16: thing with people who have second homes in New York
- 1:08:16Speaker 16: and they kind of fly in, they go to a
- 1:08:18Speaker 16: Broadway show, they go out to dinner, but meanwhile, they're
- 1:08:20Speaker 16: always paying the doorman, they're paying people to clean their apartment,
- 1:08:24Speaker 16: they're paying utility bills, et cetera, but they don't demand
- 1:08:28Speaker 16: anything in the way of city resources. So you have
- 1:08:31Speaker 16: to sort of say to yourself, why in the world
- 1:08:35Speaker 16: Would we not want these people participating in New York City?
- 1:08:39Speaker 16: The answer is it's just a dumb idea.
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: Well, very good point. Liz Peek, brilliant as always. Now,
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: you've got to read her columns at foxnews.com, thehill.com. But
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: go to her website. Check it every day. There's always
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: new stuff there, LizPeak.com. LizPeak.com. Liz Peak, thanks for being
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: with us.
- 1:08:59Speaker 16: Hey, Mark. Take care. Have a great weekend when it
- 1:09:01Speaker 16: comes up.
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: Have a great Labor Day. Take care. Thanks. It's Labor
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: Day weekend. I don't know how it happened so fast,
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: but it's actually the longest summer we've had. Memorial Day
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: was a week early. Labor Day is a week late. Hey,
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: we got a lot coming up. I'm here now nine
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: to noon. It's three hours every day, nine to noon.
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: At noon, you got Buck and Clay with a great show.
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: You got the most listened to show in America, Sean
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: Hannity at three, Jesse Kelly at six, the very funny
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: Jimmy Fela. Every night, 9 to midnight, here on 710WOR.
- 1:09:35Speaker 16: More Mark.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: Mark Simone.
- 1:09:37Speaker 13: Mr.
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: New York.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: Now three hours every weekday from 9 till noon on 710WOR.
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: Well, the weather, it doesn't look too bad for today.
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: I know, cloudy rain, but it looks like just a
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: shower here and there. Not continuous. Just a shower in
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: the afternoon, maybe one in the evening. And then tomorrow,
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: the same thing. Just an isolated shower here or there.
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: And then Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, dry, dry and a
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: lot of sun. So it'll be a great weekend. You
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: get two days today, tomorrow cloudy, a little rain here
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: and there, but then a great weekend. It's Labor Day
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: weekend already. It's September the 2nd. Hard to believe. But hey,
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: coming up in the next hour, we've got a lot
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: to get to. We'll get to that crazy U.S. Open.
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: Speaking of crazy, we'll get to Megan and Harry and
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: a whole lot more. Coming up right after the news,
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: Mark Simone here, 710WOR.
- 1:10:33Speaker 16: Mr.
- 1:10:33Speaker 17: New York, Mark Simone.
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: On 710WOR.
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: Well, hey, you know, every year, every presidential year, every
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: four years, there's a presidential race. And, of course, each
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: party has its convention, you know, the big convention, Democratic Convention,
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: Republican Convention. So this year is an off year. It's midterms.
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: But the Republicans, I guess President Trump came up with this.
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: They decided to have a midterm convention. It's just like
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: in a presidential year. They have a big convention. This
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: is going to be in Dallas. Is it next week?
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: I think it's this coming week. September 9th to the 10th. Yeah,
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: in Dallas. So that would be next week. Now, the
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: problem is, apparently, a lot of the Republicans in Congress
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: aren't going to go to this midterm convention. They did
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: a survey of 70 Republicans. Republican house members, 45 said
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: they will skip the event. So that's the majority of them, uh,
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: skipping it. It, uh, they said it's a little disorganized
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: and they don't want to, they don't want to go. So, uh,
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: it'll be next week. You'll see some good speeches there.
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: The president will go, uh, he'll make some major names,
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: make sure they show up, but, uh, it may not be, uh,
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: the big event it's, uh, it's supposed to be. So, uh, Iran,
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: we hit them hard overnight. We'll probably continue to do
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: that the rest of the week. Scott Besant hitting them
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: very hard economically, just draining them financially. And whatever they
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: got snuck away in some Swiss bank account or somewhere,
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: Besant is going after it, and he'll get it. We're
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: also continuing the war. With Canada. It's not really a war.
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: It's just love trolling them, tweaking them. We got this premier,
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: prime minister, Carney. Prime minister Carney lashing out.
- 1:12:36Speaker 20: And when the Americans stop doing memes, stop throwing shade,
- 1:12:41Speaker 20: stop trying to be tough, and start being serious about
- 1:12:45Speaker 20: having those discussions, we can have those discussions. But look,
- 1:12:48Speaker 20: it's not constructive, but.
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: That's their democracy. All right, he's not exactly Churchill, but
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: what do you want? It's Canada. So, hey, Meghan Markle
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: and Prince Harry, they've gone back to England. They, you know,
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: set up in Montecito, California in a big mansion, ready
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: to make a fortune, ready to become bigger than the Kardashians.
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: And they got a couple of deals, Netflix and Spotify,
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: and they totally bombed out. And that was the end
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: of it. And a couple of years have gone by
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: and they can't get anything going. Nothing. So they're going
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: back to England. Apparently, Meghan Markle is a nightmare to
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: deal with. King Charles may not be wrong about her.
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: That may be the reason that he's kind of disowned
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: his own son. Doesn't want anything to do with him
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: or Meghan Markle. Although apparently Camilla is trying to maybe
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: thaw the relationship a little. So they're going to England.
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: They're there. Uh, they arrived on a private jet, spent
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: a fortune on a private jet, and then a caravan
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: of SUVs picked them up. They're looking for a house.
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: Meghan Markle, apparently driving the real estate people crazy. She
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: wants nine bedrooms. She must have nine bedrooms and it
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: must have a film studio in it, or at least something,
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: a building on the grounds, something where they could build
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: a film studio, uh, Apparently in Montecito, they also have
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: nine bedrooms and a film studio. That place costs $ 15 million.
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: She wants this film studio because she thinks she's going
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: to have a big career media-wise and wants to be
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: able to produce everything at home. Listen, they bombed out
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: in California. I don't know what they're going to get
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: going in England. They need to hire staff, maids, servants, housekeepers.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: But apparently she's a nightmare at that, too. described as
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: extremely rude. And in California, in the housekeeper community, she
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: was known for that. Word spread quickly. You might not
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: want to even go for an interview because you don't
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: want to work for this maniac, Meghan Markle. Apparently, the
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: interview process is you come in with your resume. You're told,
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: do not speak to her. Hand over your resume and
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: and then go stand off to the side of the room.
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: You are told not to speak to her. Do not
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: make eye contact. She will sit there and review your
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: resume and decide whether you're hired or not. You do
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: not speak to her. I mean, what a lunatic. It's
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: not like she's some big star. She was in the
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: show Suits. It's not like she starred in the show Suits.
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: She was like 15th billing in that show. Pretty much
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: a minor character in the show. She wasn't Harvey Specter.
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: speaking of TV shows, remember 30 Rock, the great show
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: 30 Rock, they're going to do a big reunion, a
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: 20th anniversary reunion, it'll take place at Radio City, Sunday,
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: October 11th, tickets will be available, I think you can
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: get them now, if you want to see this, the
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: whole cast will be back, Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan,
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: the whole rest of the cast, they'll be there, and
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: I don't know exactly what they're going to do, but
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: it's on the stage of Radio City Music Hall. I
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: imagine the real point of this is to film the
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: whole thing and turn it into some sort of a
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: big Netflix special or streaming special. Or maybe NBC will
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: want to use it. But if you want to get tickets,
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: it's October 11th. Radio City Music Hall. Hey, speaking of
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: streaming and all of that, Apple TV just raised the
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: price again. You know, when Apple TV started, it was $ 4.
- 1:16:40Speaker 13: 99 a month.
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: It's about five years ago, six years ago. Well, all
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: of a sudden, it's $ 14. 99 a month. And all the
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: streaming services are driving people crazy, raising the price. Peacock
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: went from $ 10. 99 to $ 12.
- 1:16:55Speaker 9: 99.
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: It's a 27% hike. It's a lot to hike every year. Netflix,
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: everybody raising their prices. And we kept telling you this
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: all along. The reason people got rid of the cable...
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: is your cable bill was $ 50 a month, $ 40 a month.
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: Next thing you know, it's $ 100 a month. Next thing
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: you know, it's $ 200 a month. It was crazy. So
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: people started cutting their cable service and going with the streaming.
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: But it's just a matter of time before streaming gets
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: you back up to $ 100, $ 200 a month with all
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: these different streaming services. Now, the only good news is
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: with cable, you can't eliminate all the channels you don't want,
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: but you can do it with streaming. And more and
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: more and more people are doing that. So you're going
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: to see a little rebellion against it. You know, there's
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: a lot of free TV out there that's great. YouTube, obviously.
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: You can watch anything on YouTube. And I love Pluto TV.
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: Pluto TV. It's free. It's got like 50 channels of television.
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: And each show has its own channel. There's a Blue
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: Bloods channel. 24 hours a day of Blue Bloods. There's
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: a Columbo channel. 24 hours a day of Columbo. There's
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: a channel like that for about 75 different shows. Plus,
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: they've got a lot of movies. And it's free. They
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: run a few commercials. Not a lot. But it's free.
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: Pluto TV. Tubi is another one. T-U-B-I. Great free services
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: out there. You don't need to pay for all this streaming. Now,
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: if you like to spend a lot of money, if
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: you like to waste a ton of money, I've got
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: the perfect thing for you. It's called the U.S.
- 1:18:30Speaker 16: Open.
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: It's at Forest Hills. It's taking place right now. It
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: goes to September 13th. 256 of the world's finest tennis players.
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: It's three weeks, Arthur ash stadium which by the way
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: they just renovated they spent 800 million renovating it uh
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: one of the reasons they renovated is to put more
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: of those private clubs in there those suites that's where
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: they make all the real money and 2 000 new
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: courtside seats 800 million in renovations but they can make
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: a ton of money off this And they charge a
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: fortune for everything. The drinks are a fortune. The food
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: is a fortune. But if you really want to spend
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: some money, you can get these packages. There's one with
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: the Mark Hotel. The Mark's a beautiful hotel, Upper East Side,
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: diagonally across from the Carlisle. The Mark Hotel has a
- 1:19:21Speaker 3: special package, U.S. Open package. If you want to sign
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: up for this, it's $ 500, 000. The Grand Slam Extravaganza. which
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: includes a four-night stay for six guests in the Mark Penthouse. Okay,
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: so that brings it down to, well, 80,000 a person.
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: You can stay in the Penthouse. It is actually the
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: largest penthouse in the United States. You get six premium
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: tickets to the men's semifinals and final. You get a
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: private lesson with John McEnroe. What the hell is John
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: McEnroe sinking to with this private lesson? Guests will enjoy it.
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: Private sail aboard the Mark 70-foot sailboat. Caviar service. Bespoke
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: menus from the Mark restaurant. A very good restaurant in
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: the Mark by John George. And there's a caviar restaurant
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: on the other side. Private chauffeur service. Okay, this is $ 500, 000.
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: If you want to do this, go to the U.S.
- 1:20:21Speaker 13: Open.
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: I can't even watch the U.S.
- 1:20:22Speaker 11: Open.
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: I don't. I mean, I'm not a big tennis fan.
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: Every player has got these names. Jokovic. Vovolkovic, whatever. I
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: don't know who the hell all these players are. You
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: want something cheaper? The Latte Hotel, which used to be
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: called the Palace next to St. Patrick's. They got a
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: $ 100, 000 package. You get a two-night stay, 5,000 square foot penthouse.
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: You get four tickets, four guests. You also get a
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: $ 62, 000 12-cut diamond tennis bracelet. How do people spend this
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: on this stuff? You want to bargain? The Ritz-Carlton. Ooh,
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: and Nomad. They got a $ 20, 000 package. Two-night stay in
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: the penthouse. Honey deuce cocktails. Remember, that was the big
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: thing last year. Dinner for two at Dahlia's Garden and Terrace.
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: And a massage.
- 1:21:17Speaker 9: Okay.
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: It's only $ 29, 000. That's the bargain package for you cheapskates
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: out there. Hey, in Michigan, you got the... Now, when
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: it comes to these primaries... Michigan's important because it's a
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: Democratic seat. It's currently a Democratic seat. The Democrat who
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: holds it is retiring, so it becomes an open seat.
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: So if they lose, it doesn't really affect the balance
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: in the Senate. But if they win, Republicans pick up
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: a seat. So it's important. And you got that crazy
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: Al-Sayed running, the anti-Semite who's been hanging around with this
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: awful anti-Semite, Hassan Piker. But apparently Al-Sayed is trying to
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: make peace with the Jewish Democrats. Not going to be
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: easy to do because he refuses to denounce Hassan Piker.
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: He distances himself, but he won't denounce him for his
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: crazy anti-Semitic stuff. So Piker, if he's doing that, trying
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: to go after the Jewish community, trying to make peace,
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: means his internal polling is not looking great. Not looking great. Hey,
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: there was to be a government shutdown, but they've avoided that.
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: A bill was passed to keep the government open through
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: the midterms. Here's Mike Johnson.
- 1:22:37Speaker 21: House Republicans are in charge here, and we're continuing to
- 1:22:39Speaker 21: do the grown-up thing and make sure we get the
- 1:22:41Speaker 21: job done. And we're happy that we just passed that
- 1:22:44Speaker 21: continued resolution to find the government through early December. And
- 1:22:47Speaker 21: they will continue through the process after the election.
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: Yeah, so, yeah, must keep the government open. Except tomorrow
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: it's going to shut down for about five days because
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: it's Labor Day weekend. They all go away for the weekend.
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: I am too, kind of. But listen, there's a government
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: shutdown every Friday night until Monday morning. You can survive
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: these government shutdowns. Hey, Dolly Parton, you remember, you know,
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: she grew up in a cottage. And she owned a
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: small cottage in California, right down the road from Michael
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: Jackson's Neverland Ranch. It's a small cottage. She owned a
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: lot of real estate all over the place, but apparently...
- 1:23:24Speaker 3: A lot of interest in that cottage. And there's a
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: flurry of buyers showing up, want Dolly Parton's cottage. A
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: lot of real estate. She had an apartment here in
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: New York, 800 Fifth Avenue. Nice apartment. And, yeah, and
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: a lot of interest in her. Her music still continues
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: to top the charts for the last week or so
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: since her death. Hey, Massachusetts primary, Ed Markey won last night,
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: 80 years old. Now, he's a youngster in Massachusetts. You know,
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: in New England, they got Bernie Sanders, who's 90. They
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: got Elizabeth Warren, who's 80. So this kid, Marky, 80
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: years old, won. It's good news, just overall. I mean,
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: he's not, you know, he's a Democrat. But the good
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: news is he defeated one of these crazy Democrats. So
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: he's an old-fashioned, sort of a Bill Clinton-type Democrat, defeating
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: the young crazy. So that's a good thing. Hey, we'll
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: take some calls next, 800-321-8000. 0-7-10 is the number. I
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: always like to have some new callers. If you never
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: called before, call us.
- 1:24:28Speaker 12: 800-321-0710.
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: Now, much more Mark.
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: Mark Simone. Now, 9 till noon weekdays. On 710WOR.
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: Well, you know, one of those morning show regulars, Catty
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: Kay from the BBC. has been reprimanded by the BBC,
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: even the left wing BBC reprimanding her for her anti-Israel nonsense.
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: Apparently she referred to the genocide that was being committed
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: in Gaza during a podcast appearance, but good for the BBC,
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: usually way to the left, but they've actually told her
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: that she is officially reprimanded. She's a, you know, get
- 1:25:18Speaker 3: away with that crap on Morning Joe, but it's not
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: up to, as the BBC says, not up to their standards.
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: She said it on, she has a podcast with, remember
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: Anthony Scaramucci, the two of them, one of these amateur podcasts,
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: you know, Scaramucci, great financially, but always, always desperately trying
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: to be some kind of media figure. And again, everybody
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: has a podcast. Every amateur now has a podcast. Your
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: dentist has a podcast. Your accountant has a podcast. Let's
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: take some calls. Let's go to Allie in Philadelphia. Allie,
- 1:25:54Speaker 3: how are you doing?
- 1:25:55Speaker 18: Good morning, Mark. Alice from Philadelphia. Long-time listener. Mark, I
- 1:26:01Speaker 18: want to comment on the Elizabeth Smart situation. They're trying
- 1:26:07Speaker 18: to make her a heroine. That girl was able to
- 1:26:11Speaker 18: leave for the seven months that she had been kidnapped.
- 1:26:15Speaker 18: but she stayed with that group. And we were in
- 1:26:18Speaker 18: Utah when all of this had just happened. And they
- 1:26:22Speaker 18: said the family took in vagrants and that's who kidnapped her.
- 1:26:27Speaker 18: So I don't really feel like she's a heroine, but
- 1:26:31Speaker 18: I keep hearing it advertised. This girl was wonderful. What's
- 1:26:35Speaker 18: your comment?
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: I don't know. You're probably right. Um, what are we
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: doing in Utah?
- 1:26:41Speaker 18: Oh, we were, we were visiting the, uh, The center
- 1:26:45Speaker 18: where they have the– oh, my goodness. Utah is a
- 1:26:50Speaker 18: beautiful city, and we happen to be there.
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: All right. Doesn't sound like the most perfect vacation, but okay.
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: But if you live in Philadelphia, I guess Utah looks beautiful.
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: But no, we love Philadelphia. Let's go to Abe in Suffern. Abe,
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: how are you doing?
- 1:27:06Speaker 11: Well, the man that's running in Michigan for Senate, Abdul Saeed,
- 1:27:11Speaker 11: he's lying. He's not a doctor. He keeps saying that
- 1:27:13Speaker 11: he's a physician, but he's not a licensed physician anyway.
- 1:27:16Speaker 16: Why is he doing this?
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: He's technically a doctor. He doesn't practice as a doctor,
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: but he actually is a doctor.
- 1:27:23Speaker 11: He never got a license. He never passed the exam.
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: I don't think you're following this. He's not a practicing physician,
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: but he is a doctor. He never... You can't argue
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: with these people. That's what I always tell you. Don't
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: argue about politics with anybody. He's technically a doctor. He's
- 1:27:38Speaker 3: not a physician treating patients, but he is a doctor.
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: I hate to break it to you. Jill Biden is
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: technically a doctor. She can use that title. Even though
- 1:27:47Speaker 3: she's an English teacher at a community college, she can
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: call herself doctor and he can call himself doctor. Let's
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: go to Joe in Elmwood Park. Joe, how are you doing?
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: Good morning, Mark.
- 1:27:59Speaker 13: I want to change the gears over here.
- 1:28:00Speaker 9: How come nobody's protesting about taking the statue down, Stonewall Jackson?
- 1:28:05Speaker 13: He helped the slaves after the war.
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: Where's the statue? Where's the statue?
- 1:28:12Speaker 11: It was in Richmond, Virginia.
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: Oh, well, that's probably why nobody's protesting here.
- 1:28:16Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:28:17Speaker 7: Nobody's protesting about it.
- 1:28:18Speaker 13: I thought Trump says hands off the statues.
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: Yeah, it's Stonewall Jackson. You know, it's not a name.
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: Robert E. Lee, maybe you go out there because we
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: all know the name. Stonewall Jackson, I hate to break
- 1:28:28Speaker 3: it to you. It's kind of forgotten about. Yeah, well.
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: People get themselves riled up about anything here. Let's go
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: to Nolan in New Jersey. Nolan, how you doing?
- 1:28:41Speaker 16: I'm good, Mark.
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 1:28:42Speaker 14: I don't know if you had a chance to watch
- 1:28:43Speaker 14: The Five last night. I was a little disappointed in
- 1:28:46Speaker 14: Jesse Waters. He had some suggestions for the cops that
- 1:28:51Speaker 14: they could save the woman in Times Square by using
- 1:28:54Speaker 14: a Spider-Man type net or approaching her from behind and
- 1:28:58Speaker 14: trying to pistol whip her. I got to say, I'm
- 1:29:01Speaker 14: really disappointed.
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: Maybe he was just trying to be funny. Spider-Man.
- 1:29:06Speaker 14: He could be a little bizarre at times.
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: Well, it's just it's a sense of humor. The five
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: is a great show. The cops in Times Square with
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: that crazy lunatic. They tried the tasers, kept shooting her
- 1:29:18Speaker 3: with tasers, but she had her purse in front of her.
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: One hit the purse and the ones that hit her,
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: as we discussed earlier. Apparently, if you're really fat, the
- 1:29:27Speaker 3: taser is not effective. The taser has to hit your
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: muscle to do something. And if you've got inches of fat,
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: if you're really fat, the taser will not get to
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: the muscle, so it would not be as effective. And
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: that's the problem they had there. Let's go to Dan
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: in Queens. Dan, how are you doing?
- 1:29:46Speaker 11: Good.
- 1:29:47Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 1:29:47Speaker 19: Listening to Liz speak, Bruce Blakeman could do a commercial
- 1:29:51Speaker 19: saying that Poco killed more jobs in New York State
- 1:29:55Speaker 19: with no fracking, no gas drilling on the largest reserves.
- 1:29:59Speaker 19: No AI data centers?
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: Well, he has been doing it. He has been running
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: those commercials. You follow him on Instagram? No, I don't.
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: Commercials don't go on TV anymore. They go on social.
- 1:30:18Speaker 3: If you put it on Channel 5, a few hundred
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: thousand people see it. On his social media, I think
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: he got 62 million views last month. So that's where
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: all the action is. In fact, check out Bruce Blakeman's
- 1:30:33Speaker 3: Instagram or Twitter or TikTok or any of that, but
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: he's got great stuff up there, great videos of Hochul.
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: There's Hijab Hochul, I think, that's up there now. Boy,
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: there's a lot of great stuff. But that's where all
- 1:30:46Speaker 3: the action takes place in political campaigns. Running a TV
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: commercial really doesn't reach a lot of people. Running a
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: radio commercial still reaches a lot of people, much more
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: than television will. But the big action is Instagram, TikTok,
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: and all that. Blakeman's been campaigning like crazy. And this
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: isn't the campaign yet. You know, it really doesn't heat
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: up until after everybody's back from Labor Day. That's where
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: it really begins. Let's go to Bob in, is it
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: North Carolina, Bob?
- 1:31:16Speaker 13: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:31:17Speaker 4: Hey, Mark, how you doing?
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: Good.
- 1:31:18Speaker 4: Long-time listener, first-time caller. I just wanted to tell you
- 1:31:21Speaker 4: I love your show. I retired on Monday, so now
- 1:31:25Speaker 4: I can listen to you every day. But the only
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: gripe I have is I love your show, but you
- 1:31:30Speaker 4: started taking off on Fridays, and I have a problem
- 1:31:33Speaker 4: with that.
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: Well, that's just in the summer, and I hate to
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: break it to you. It's Wednesday. I'm taking off tomorrow
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: and Friday, two days.
- 1:31:40Speaker 4: Oh, you are? Okay, well, I just want to tell you,
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: I started walking a lot, and I listen to you,
- 1:31:45Speaker 4: and it makes the walk go by a lot quicker.
- 1:31:47Speaker 3: All right, but after Labor Day, no more Fridays off
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: after Labor Day. Then it's five days a week.
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: That's good. I'll work into the rotation, and I really
- 1:31:55Speaker 4: appreciate it.
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: I take Fridays off instead of taking a week off,
- 1:31:58Speaker 3: instead of taking two weeks.
- 1:31:59Speaker 19: Yeah, that works.
- 1:32:00Speaker 4: Well, I'm off all the time now, man. I'm retired
- 1:32:02Speaker 4: as of Monday. I'm 60. Good health. Decided to just
- 1:32:07Speaker 4: retire and live the rest of my life, man.
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: No, you do fine. All right. Stay out of trouble, Peter.
- 1:32:13Speaker 19: Yes, sir.
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: Take care. Yeah, that's why I take Fridays off in
- 1:32:17Speaker 3: the summer. I don't like to take a week off here.
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: It's a whole week. It's better to just take a
- 1:32:21Speaker 3: bunch of Fridays off.
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:32:23Speaker 3: It happened the other day. I took the Friday off,
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: and I'm walking around. I was in Long Island, actually.
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: I was walking around Garden City, and a guy comes
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: up to me and goes, I wake up every morning.
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: I listen to you. You're not there. You're just walking around.
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: You're not doing anything. Get to work. So after Labor Day,
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: it's back to five days a week. Hey, when we
- 1:32:41Speaker 3: come back, Ann Coulter will be with us next. Lots
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: to talk to her about in just a moment. on 710WOR.
- 1:32:49Speaker 16: It's the Mark Simone Show.
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: Live from the WOR LifeVac studios.
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: Well, Ann Coulter, the best-selling author, the great columnist, and
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: now Rumble star. Make sure you watch her Rumble channel
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: and follow her on Twitter. And, of course, Substack. She's
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: got videos and podcasts and all sorts of stuff. AnnCoulter.substack.com.
- 1:33:13Speaker 3: Ann Coulter, how you doing?
- 1:33:15Speaker 8: Fantastic. How are you, Mark Simone?
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: I'm good. Summer's almost over. Aren't you sad about that?
- 1:33:21Speaker 8: Yes, of course I am. I have to get back
- 1:33:23Speaker 8: to work.
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: Now, midterms, what do you think? How does it look?
- 1:33:30Speaker 8: You probably don't want to ask me that. I think
- 1:33:33Speaker 8: it looks like a complete wipeout for Republicans. This Iran
- 1:33:37Speaker 8: war has long, long tentacles. And the gas price has
- 1:33:44Speaker 8: gone up. I mean, it's great that we're trying to
- 1:33:46Speaker 8: get Venezuela's gas now. But at the moment, if you
- 1:33:49Speaker 8: had to bet, it's just going to be a bloodbath
- 1:33:54Speaker 8: for Republicans. I just don't understand why Trump does not
- 1:33:59Speaker 8: run or do the things he ran on. His main
- 1:34:02Speaker 8: issue was immigration. To this day, his most popular issue
- 1:34:06Speaker 8: is immigration. and he is underwater on every single issue,
- 1:34:10Speaker 8: including the issues Republicans usually crush on, like the economy. And,
- 1:34:14Speaker 8: of course, least of all popular is the Iran war.
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: Well, the economy's in pretty good shape by every metric. Immigration,
- 1:34:21Speaker 3: he's been arresting people like ICE. He's been doing a
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: great job. Wouldn't you agree on that?
- 1:34:27Speaker 8: Well, I do, but I think what happens is, as
- 1:34:31Speaker 8: long as, I mean, anything he does on immigration, and
- 1:34:33Speaker 8: it does seem that.
- 1:34:36Speaker 8: Stephen Miller has been a careful steward of what is
- 1:34:39Speaker 8: going on. The more they can do, the better. But
- 1:34:43Speaker 8: what happens in these polls is, if you're mad about
- 1:34:46Speaker 8: one thing, if you're mad about the president, it just
- 1:34:49Speaker 8: colors your opinion of everything else, so it drags all
- 1:34:53Speaker 8: the categories down. That's why it's striking that the single
- 1:34:57Speaker 8: most unpopular issue is, of course, the Iran war. And
- 1:35:02Speaker 8: Americans overwhelmingly want to just wrap it up quickly.
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:35:07Speaker 8: Clear victory and move out.
- 1:35:10Speaker 3: That's if you look at the media polls and those
- 1:35:11Speaker 3: college polls. But if you look at the real internals,
- 1:35:15Speaker 3: Iran comes up like number 15 on issues for most Americans.
- 1:35:20Speaker 8: Internal polls are famously nonsense.
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: No, they're pretty good.
- 1:35:25Speaker 8: Daniel Shore and I believe Nate Silver. i'm definitely make
- 1:35:29Speaker 8: silver point out that the quote internal polls uh... are
- 1:35:33Speaker 8: often done to please the boss and if there's any
- 1:35:36Speaker 8: boss who needs to be pleased uh... you can twist
- 1:35:39Speaker 8: them you can manipulate and there are a million different
- 1:35:41Speaker 8: polls and iran has just i mean especially the democrats
- 1:35:46Speaker 8: and independents you're right about that uh... but even among
- 1:35:49Speaker 8: republicans forty percent yes just just republicans and that's people
- 1:35:54Speaker 8: are still calling themselves republicans uh... Slight majority say, yes,
- 1:35:59Speaker 8: Iran's going great. Forty percent say, no, please wrap it up,
- 1:36:04Speaker 8: please wrap it up. And like I say, that pulls
- 1:36:06Speaker 8: down everything else. The gas prices, that is, oh, my gosh,
- 1:36:09Speaker 8: that's going to kill Republicans. It's going to kill them.
- 1:36:13Speaker 8: Let's hope the Venezuelan oil does something.
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: Well, I think you might be a little too worried about,
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: first of all, gas prices aren't that high. They're high
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: in New York, but it has nothing to do with Iran.
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: They're high in California. It has nothing to do with Iran.
- 1:36:27Speaker 3: But they're pretty low around the country. They're averaging around
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: 350 now. That's not that bad.
- 1:36:33Speaker 8: Mark Simone, you know I love you, but this is
- 1:36:36Speaker 8: like the Biden administration and MSNBC trying to convince people, no,
- 1:36:42Speaker 8: the economy is great. No, I mean, you can look
- 1:36:45Speaker 8: at a chart. Since the Iran war, gas prices have
- 1:36:49Speaker 8: been substantially higher, and they haven't come back down. And yes, okay,
- 1:36:54Speaker 8: you can compare it. Oh, did you complain under Biden? Yes,
- 1:36:57Speaker 8: we did complain under Biden.
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: That has nothing to do with Biden.
- 1:36:59Speaker 8: Starting a war. It was when Russia invaded Ukraine. There
- 1:37:03Speaker 8: was a spike in gas prices here.
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: We've had a rise.
- 1:37:06Speaker 8: Not that Biden did, and we still blame him.
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: We've had a rise, but not a spike, and the
- 1:37:10Speaker 3: numbers are nowhere near Biden's gas prices. Not even close.
- 1:37:14Speaker 8: That was very brief.
- 1:37:17Speaker 11: All right.
- 1:37:17Speaker 8: Look, I don't want this to be the case, because...
- 1:37:21Speaker 8: I mean, the problem is, you know, Democrats will get in,
- 1:37:24Speaker 8: they'll run on stuff that they know is more popular
- 1:37:28Speaker 8: and the issues that are less popular with concerning Trump,
- 1:37:35Speaker 8: but then they're going to get in and it's not
- 1:37:37Speaker 8: going to be anything they ran on. It's going to be,
- 1:37:40Speaker 8: you know, like wrapping up the Iran war.
- 1:37:42Speaker 13: It's going to be.
- 1:37:43Speaker 8: Pedal to the metal for DEI stuff. Oh my gosh,
- 1:37:46Speaker 8: it'll be a disaster. But nothing they actually ran on
- 1:37:51Speaker 8: will come true. It'll be all the things that they're
- 1:37:53Speaker 8: afraid to run on because they are so unpopular on.
- 1:37:57Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: Well, we'll see. I think you'll be quite surprised in November.
- 1:38:01Speaker 3: Even here in New York.
- 1:38:02Speaker 8: I hope so.
- 1:38:03Speaker 3: Where I think Bruce Blakeman will win. You'll be quite surprised.
- 1:38:07Speaker 3: And the good news with that Mamdani, like a lot
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: of these socialists, everything he proposes... He never does anything.
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: Nothing ever actually happens. He gets nothing done.
- 1:38:17Speaker 8: Oh, I wish.
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: He's got nothing done.
- 1:38:20Speaker 8: That's what I loved about Black Lives Matter. Go ahead,
- 1:38:22Speaker 8: spend it on mansions. It's fantastic. Please don't do anything.
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: Well, Mom Donnie is taking... centers aren't funded. There's no
- 1:38:32Speaker 3: grocery stores that are ever going to be built. The
- 1:38:34Speaker 3: pied-à-terre tax will never happen.
- 1:38:37Speaker 8: I hope you're right about that. I don't know why
- 1:38:39Speaker 8: you think that now. I certainly hope you're right about
- 1:38:43Speaker 8: that because it's real. that will be such a disaster
- 1:38:47Speaker 8: for new york i'm sure you've talked about this mirrored
- 1:38:51Speaker 8: listeners have thought about it until they're blue in the
- 1:38:53Speaker 8: face but you know all of this pointless rearranging were
- 1:38:57Speaker 8: massively wealthy people uh... there's just an article i think
- 1:39:00Speaker 8: in the new york times about this yesterday massively well
- 1:39:03Speaker 8: wealthy people are just are just going to right now uh...
- 1:39:06Speaker 8: because you don't own it not if you put it
- 1:39:09Speaker 8: there bill brett though uh.
- 1:39:12Speaker 16: uh.
- 1:39:12Speaker 8: and i'll rent out You know, they're gigantic apartments. Rental
- 1:39:17Speaker 8: prices are about to go through the roof. Sale prices
- 1:39:20Speaker 8: are collapsing.
- 1:39:21Speaker 11: And for no reason.
- 1:39:22Speaker 8: It's utterly artificial.
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: Not in New York. Sale prices are actually up over
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: last year. High-end sales are up over last year. Numbers
- 1:39:30Speaker 3: are pretty interesting. Everything is up over last year. Even
- 1:39:33Speaker 3: commercial leasing is through the roof right now.
- 1:39:35Speaker 8: Well, it's not commercial leasing I'm worried about. And I
- 1:39:39Speaker 8: know real estate brokers always tell me that no sales
- 1:39:42Speaker 8: are going through the roof, but... Not when this Pieta
- 1:39:45Speaker 8: tear tax starts being enforced. I mean, maybe it's only
- 1:39:48Speaker 8: a few people at the very high end who are
- 1:39:50Speaker 8: worried about it. But talk to accountants. Talk to the
- 1:39:56Speaker 8: accountants of really rich people. They're all scrambling now to
- 1:40:00Speaker 8: figure out what they can do.
- 1:40:02Speaker 3: You'll never see the Piedra Terra tax, even the rollout,
- 1:40:05Speaker 3: completely bungled and bogged down.
- 1:40:07Speaker 8: Oh, I hope you're right. It's so stupid. It's going
- 1:40:09Speaker 8: to be so bad for housing in New York and
- 1:40:11Speaker 8: for New York City. I mean, even if all you
- 1:40:13Speaker 8: care about is all the stupid social programs that I'd
- 1:40:16Speaker 8: eliminate across the board. New York Times did have an
- 1:40:20Speaker 8: article about this in the past week. New York needs
- 1:40:23Speaker 8: more millionaires. They need more multi-millionaires. And they have been fleeing, fleeing, fleeing.
- 1:40:30Speaker 11: Well, where.
- 1:40:32Speaker 8: Where does Albany and Mondami, where do they think the
- 1:40:34Speaker 8: money comes from? But they keep driving out the golden goose,
- 1:40:40Speaker 8: and boy, is the Pieta terror tax a good.
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: Way to do it.
- 1:40:43Speaker 3: Now, why do you keep reading the New York Times?
- 1:40:48Speaker 8: Because it's the most articulate expression of liberal opinion. Whereas
- 1:40:53Speaker 8: I watch MS Now, I can't get out of calling
- 1:40:56Speaker 8: it MSNBC, MSNOW, that is the most comedic version of
- 1:41:00Speaker 8: liberal opinion.
- 1:41:02Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I like calling it MSNBC. It's still the
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: 59th Street Bridge. Nobody calls it the Ed Koch Bridge,
- 1:41:08Speaker 3: although we love it.
- 1:41:09Speaker 4: Oh, that's hilarious.
- 1:41:09Speaker 8: I didn't even know it was supposed to be the
- 1:41:11Speaker 8: Ed Koch Bridge.
- 1:41:12Speaker 20: Yeah.
- 1:41:13Speaker 8: Well, anyway, I really hate that. Any of your listeners
- 1:41:15Speaker 8: outside of New York probably do not care about this.
- 1:41:17Speaker 8: But all of these street names, you know, one of
- 1:41:19Speaker 8: the beauties of New York City, I was in Amsterdam
- 1:41:22Speaker 8: and London this summer. I could never find my way
- 1:41:25Speaker 8: back to my hotel because the streets are so, you know,
- 1:41:30Speaker 8: sort of confusing. And you don't even know what the
- 1:41:33Speaker 8: words are, what the names are in Amsterdam. So how
- 1:41:36Speaker 8: can you remember a name that's all consonants? That's what
- 1:41:39Speaker 8: I love about New York. I know where 59th Street
- 1:41:43Speaker 8: is because it's above 57th and below 60th. And so
- 1:41:49Speaker 8: when you get out of a subway or you're wandering
- 1:41:51Speaker 8: around trying to find something and what you have is,
- 1:41:54Speaker 8: you know, the Louisa Ortez Street, man, that drives me crazy.
- 1:42:01Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:42:01Speaker 3: Well, it's still the Triborough Bridge. It's not the Robert F.
- 1:42:04Speaker 3: Kennedy Bridge. And if you say the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge,
- 1:42:07Speaker 3: nobody knows where that is.
- 1:42:09Speaker 8: Oh, no, I actually discovered that to my detriment when
- 1:42:12Speaker 8: I was driving in and out. I think it had
- 1:42:14Speaker 8: just been changed to visit my mother in Connecticut. And
- 1:42:19Speaker 8: I'm afraid of driving in New York.
- 1:42:20Speaker 19: It's crazy.
- 1:42:21Speaker 8: Why would you drive? We used to have a subway
- 1:42:23Speaker 8: system I could use every day. So anyway, I'm driving
- 1:42:26Speaker 8: in and out every day. And I'm at the top
- 1:42:29Speaker 8: of Manhattan looking desperately for the Triborough Bridge. I can't
- 1:42:34Speaker 8: find it. And then finally it dawns on me, wait,
- 1:42:37Speaker 8: I've never heard of the RFK Bridge before.
- 1:42:40Speaker 13: I wonder if that's it.
- 1:42:43Speaker 8: I actually had no idea.
- 1:42:45Speaker 3: They hate Kennedy Jr., so they'll probably take the name
- 1:42:47Speaker 3: off now. They'll probably go back to the Triborough. You know,
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: they want Trump's name off the Kennedy Center. If Democrats
- 1:42:54Speaker 3: knew what John F. Kennedy stood for, He was anti-abortion.
- 1:42:58Speaker 3: He was pro-war. He was a tax cutter. Don't you
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: think they'd want his name off the building, too?
- 1:43:02Speaker 8: That's a good point. Well, they don't want Trump's name
- 1:43:07Speaker 8: on any buildings, and I can't say I disagree with them.
- 1:43:11Speaker 8: As I've just— not any insult to Trump, but as I've
- 1:43:14Speaker 8: just indicated, you just stop naming stuff after politicians. In fact,
- 1:43:19Speaker 8: I'd strip a lot of them away. Republicans still refer
- 1:43:24Speaker 8: to it as the East River Drive. Really hate that one. And, okay,
- 1:43:29Speaker 8: except for the president, the two Kennedys who were assassinated, okay,
- 1:43:34Speaker 8: enough has been named after them, but could we please
- 1:43:37Speaker 8: stop now? And, okay, I'll give you Reagan National, though
- 1:43:41Speaker 8: I wasn't working in the Senate then, and I wasn't
- 1:43:43Speaker 8: wildly enthusiastic about that, but they told me it was
- 1:43:45Speaker 8: just retaliation for everything being named after FDR and Kennedy.
- 1:43:49Speaker 3: Oh, I like that. That's good. Well, Ann Coulter, we're
- 1:43:52Speaker 3: out of time, but she's got a great Rumble channel,
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: and you've got new stuff coming tomorrow on the Rumble channel?
- 1:43:57Speaker 8: Yes. Yes, I will. I've been doing Mondays, but I
- 1:44:01Speaker 8: just flew back from across the pond, so I didn't
- 1:44:04Speaker 8: do a Monday one. So tomorrow at 5 p.m., we're
- 1:44:05Speaker 8: going to have a live Rumble.
- 1:44:07Speaker 3: Live Rumble. Rumble's like the conservative YouTube, so take a
- 1:44:11Speaker 3: look at that. Follow Ann Coulter on Twitter. And her
- 1:44:14Speaker 3: Substack is great. It's got interviews and videos and podcasts. AnnCoulter.substack.
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: Ann Coulter, thanks for being with us.
- 1:44:24Speaker 8: Good to talk to you, Mark Simone.
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: Bye-bye.
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:44:26Speaker 3: Take care. Hey, coming up, by the way, I'll be
- 1:44:29Speaker 3: off tomorrow and Friday. I'll be back on Tuesday. Remember,
- 1:44:31Speaker 3: it's Labor Day weekend. Coming up at noon, you've got
- 1:44:34Speaker 3: Buck and Clay. And don't forget, this show now starts
- 1:44:38Speaker 3: at 9. It's three hours, 9 to noon every day.
- 1:44:42Speaker 3: And then, of course, 6 to 9. Curtis Lewa and
- 1:44:44Speaker 3: Larry Menti here on 710WOR.
- 1:44:48Speaker 2: Now 9 till noon weekdays. Mark Simone.
- 1:44:52Speaker 13: More Mark.
- 1:44:53Speaker 2: On 710WOR.
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: Well, hey, we're out of time. Now I'll be off
- 1:45:01Speaker 3: tomorrow and Friday. Taking two days off. And then it's
- 1:45:05Speaker 3: Labor Day weekend. So I'll be back on Tuesday.
- 1:45:08Speaker 20: And.
- 1:45:10Speaker 3: Then it's after Labor Day, which means I'll be here
- 1:45:12Speaker 3: five days a week. No more Fridays off. I just
- 1:45:15Speaker 3: do that in the summer instead of taking a couple
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: weeks off. But after Labor Day, back to work five
- 1:45:24Speaker 3: days a week. Three hours. Remember, nine to noon. Nine
- 1:45:29Speaker 3: to noon every day. So have a great Labor Day weekend.
