- 0:46Speaker 4: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:16Speaker 5: Five more cooling in the containment chamber.
- 1:18Speaker 6: To your citizens, we have a movie meltdown.
- 1:21Speaker 5: Are mutants dangerous?
- 1:27Speaker 7: What's up?
- 1:27Speaker 5: Welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian. I am Misty. And
- 1:30Speaker 5: I'm Jay.
- 1:32Speaker 8: And we are currently on the road heading up to
- 1:34Speaker 8: Lexington for Scarefest, which once.
- 1:37Speaker 5: Again has become an annual event. We've been at least
- 1:39Speaker 5: the last three years just for the show. I didn't
- 1:41Speaker 5: do it. You were slacking last year. I was. I
- 1:44Speaker 5: don't think I went last year either. If I didn't go,
- 1:46Speaker 5: you didn't go. Hell yeah. You're not allowed out of
- 1:48Speaker 5: the house without her, you know. Yeah.
- 1:51Speaker 8: So, yeah, as they show, we've been at least the
- 1:53Speaker 8: last three years, and they've put together some really good
- 1:56Speaker 8: stuff over the years, so I'm kind of looking forward
- 1:58Speaker 8: to this one. Maybe it's just because Leah Thompson's there. That's,
- 2:01Speaker 8: you know, arguable, but anyway.
- 2:03Speaker 9: I'm still wondering if I can manage to hold back,
- 2:05Speaker 9: because that one douchebag's going to be there, and I
- 2:07Speaker 9: don't know if I can hold it this time.
- 2:09Speaker 5: Try to control yourself. It's douchebaggins or whatever his name is.
- 2:13Speaker 10: Douchebaggins.
- 2:15Speaker 5: If you're a fan of ghost chasing shows, you probably
- 2:19Speaker 5: know who she's talking about. God, I hate that guy.
- 2:23Speaker 5: This one is, again, as we've mentioned in the past,
- 2:25Speaker 5: this one is equally as much horror and movie related
- 2:28Speaker 5: as it is paranormal investigation related and that type of thing.
- 2:33Speaker 8: So it brings in a whole different side to it
- 2:36Speaker 8: that a lot of other conventions don't.
- 2:38Speaker 5: Have, so.
- 2:40Speaker 8: Some of the horror investigation people are just fine.
- 2:44Speaker 5: Other ones are... What are they, Miss K? Fucking douchebags.
- 2:49Speaker 5: I hate that guy. I'm sorry. What little I've seen
- 2:52Speaker 5: of him, I don't like him either.
- 2:53Speaker 9: Oh, I want to punch him in his over-made-up face.
- 2:56Speaker 5: He was wearing a ton of makeup last time we
- 2:58Speaker 5: saw him. I want to knock the gel out of
- 3:00Speaker 5: his fucking hair.
- 3:00Speaker 6: Oh, man.
- 3:02Speaker 9: I want to knock off his fake spray tan. I
- 3:06Speaker 9: want to knock the bedazzled beads off his affliction shirt.
- 3:10Speaker 5: That car's got eyelashes.
- 3:11Speaker 11: Look.
- 3:11Speaker 5: That car had eyelashes. That car has personality. That's stupid.
- 3:23Speaker 5: Out of all the things you can customize on your car,
- 3:26Speaker 5: are you going to put eyelashes on it? It's not
- 3:27Speaker 5: very aerodynamic. Some people like to dress up their car
- 3:31Speaker 5: a little more than others. You need a squirrel stuck
- 3:33Speaker 5: in that shit. You're sexy. Excuse me, you've got a
- 3:37Speaker 5: squirrel in your eye. Go on.
- 3:41Speaker 8: Alright, so we figured while we're heading up here, we
- 3:43Speaker 8: can knock out some geek activities for the last couple
- 3:46Speaker 8: of weeks.
- 3:46Speaker 5: For at least you guys. I think mine's just been
- 3:48Speaker 5: the last week, so.
- 3:50Speaker 8: um let's see for me the first one and it's
- 3:55Speaker 8: really unusual for me because i left the house for
- 3:58Speaker 8: one thing holy shit and went out amongst people even
- 4:02Speaker 8: more so than we're doing today it was a different
- 4:04Speaker 8: type of people because i'm all for like movie geeks
- 4:06Speaker 8: and horror convention geeks i can deal with them but
- 4:10Speaker 8: when you go see a band there's an entirely different
- 4:13Speaker 8: crowd oh.
- 4:14Speaker 5: Who'd you go see I went and saw They Might
- 4:17Speaker 5: Be Giants.
- 4:18Speaker 12: Oh, no.
- 4:19Speaker 5: Yep. Oh, God.
- 4:20Speaker 8: Which, in a way, is better because those are, like,
- 4:23Speaker 8: nerds more than geeks.
- 4:24Speaker 5: Like, they're, like, when you play science rock, you know,
- 4:27Speaker 5: people are.
- 4:27Speaker 8: Just, like, you know, you're bringing a different crowd than, like,
- 4:30Speaker 8: fucking cock rock or something. It's a very different, more
- 4:33Speaker 8: subdued crowd. But still, I say the same thing I
- 4:37Speaker 8: go to most concerts.
- 4:39Speaker 5: People, stop dancing. Really?
- 4:40Speaker 13: Just.
- 4:41Speaker 8: Especially there. You're a whole bunch of dorky white people.
- 4:44Speaker 8: Stop with your dancing.
- 4:44Speaker 5: Was there hippie dances going on? Nah. Yeah, a couple.
- 4:48Speaker 8: Was there some thumbs and elbows? Then there were like
- 4:50Speaker 8: old people that were rubbing their butts together.
- 4:52Speaker 5: I was like, no, no, stop. You're old. Stop that.
- 4:56Speaker 5: If you were a kid, it would still be obnoxious,
- 4:59Speaker 5: but no, you're old people. Stop it.
- 5:02Speaker 11: You're gonna break a hip or something.
- 5:05Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 5:05Speaker 5: That's not... You're like somebody's parents. Cut that shit out.
- 5:08Speaker 15: So.
- 5:10Speaker 5: There was all that. I'll get to the actual music later.
- 5:14Speaker 8: But the other thing that annoyed me, and this happens
- 5:16Speaker 8: on occasion, I see this a lot of times, when.
- 5:19Speaker 5: You go to a show, why would you go to
- 5:21Speaker 5: a show, now at least this one.
- 5:22Speaker 8: They didn't really pay much to get in there, but
- 5:26Speaker 8: in particular it bothers me when people also pay for tickets.
- 5:28Speaker 8: When people leave early, I'm like, just get up in
- 5:31Speaker 8: the middle of the headliner that I'm assuming you're there
- 5:34Speaker 8: to see, and just leave. Now the people in front
- 5:39Speaker 8: of me, They, first of all, were sitting down. Now,
- 5:42Speaker 8: it was an outdoor event, so everybody was, I mean,
- 5:44Speaker 8: there weren't any chairs. Everybody was standing up all the
- 5:46Speaker 8: way to the stage. They just brought little folding chairs
- 5:49Speaker 8: and were sitting down. So you couldn't even see from
- 5:51Speaker 8: where they were.
- 5:52Speaker 5: Well, that's why they got up and left. Well, and then, okay.
- 5:55Speaker 5: I can't see a damn thing. They were just like,
- 5:58Speaker 5: this sucks, I'm going home.
- 5:59Speaker 8: Okay, this was right after they got up and two
- 6:03Speaker 8: of the three of them bought merchandise.
- 6:05Speaker 5: So they spent a.
- 6:06Speaker 8: Good $ 60, $ 70 in merchandise over at the merch tent there.
- 6:10Speaker 8: And then sat down, and within 20 minutes, got up
- 6:13Speaker 8: and left.
- 6:14Speaker 5: Hey, sometimes all you need is the t-shirt.
- 6:16Speaker 7: I was like, is that what it is?
- 6:17Speaker 5: I was like, how fucking poser do you need to be? Yeah,
- 6:19Speaker 5: I really like they might be joints. I saw them live.
- 6:22Speaker 4: Okay, I didn't see them, and I didn't stay for
- 6:24Speaker 4: the whole show.
- 6:25Speaker 5: But look at this cool t-shirt I got. I don't know.
- 6:28Speaker 5: It's like still buying a bootleg Kid Rock shirt. I'll
- 6:31Speaker 5: tell you that right now. In the parking lot. In
- 6:32Speaker 5: the parking lot.
- 6:34Speaker 17: And I made Phillip run and get it for me
- 6:35Speaker 17: because I didn't want to go chase the lady by myself.
- 6:38Speaker 5: Why did you buy a bootleg?
- 6:41Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 6:42Speaker 5: To prove I was there.
- 6:44Speaker 18: It was really bad.
- 6:44Speaker 5: I'm like, oh, that's so bad.
- 6:45Speaker 18: I've got to have that.
- 6:46Speaker 5: That sucker's somebody else. Go get it for me. That
- 6:49Speaker 5: is one that I like to throw out there to
- 6:50Speaker 5: people just to confuse them. Oh, yeah. I've seen him live.
- 6:54Speaker 5: Good luck figuring that one out. That was a good show, eh? Oh, yeah.
- 6:59Speaker 5: As much as... Aside from the guy throwing up beside us.
- 7:01Speaker 5: That was pretty gross.
- 7:01Speaker 8: Yeah, as much as he's obnoxious and ridiculous and pretty dumb, yeah,
- 7:06Speaker 8: he did put on a good live show.
- 7:08Speaker 5: I kind of like Kid Rock. I like him a lot.
- 7:10Speaker 5: He's got a few tolerances. I wouldn't want to hang
- 7:11Speaker 5: out with him. I think he's a... Speaking of douchebags,
- 7:14Speaker 5: he seems like a douchebag. Oh, yeah. But, yeah, there's
- 7:17Speaker 5: a couple songs I can tolerate, but the fact that
- 7:20Speaker 5: I went to a live show still confounds even me. Well,
- 7:24Speaker 5: he wasn't the reason we went, though. No, I know,
- 7:25Speaker 5: but it's still the fact that I was at a
- 7:27Speaker 5: Kid Rock show. We went for a reason more geekier.
- 7:30Speaker 5: We went to see Tenacious D.
- 7:32Speaker 8: Now, that, to me, is reason enough to go to
- 7:34Speaker 8: a show. So, even to sit through Kid Rock, which
- 7:36Speaker 8: ended up being a decent live show. So, Tenacious D,
- 7:40Speaker 8: Super Dorks.
- 7:41Speaker 5: Aw, crap. I forgot to check to see when Man
- 7:43Speaker 5: or Astro Man's playing. Didn't I hate Man or Astro Man?
- 7:46Speaker 5: I mean, you hate him, but I like him, so. Well, ugh.
- 7:49Speaker 5: You're on your own on that one. That's fine. I
- 7:51Speaker 5: don't care. Yeah, I think after that day we started
- 7:54Speaker 5: referring to them as Man or Astro.
- 7:55Speaker 18: Fuck.
- 7:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I hated that band. Why do you hate that band?
- 7:59Speaker 5: They're fucking retarded. Stupid. I don't even remember what they play.
- 8:03Speaker 5: I kind of remember one song.
- 8:05Speaker 18: I remember their outfits.
- 8:06Speaker 5: Which was the song we left on. Other than that,
- 8:08Speaker 5: I really don't even remember what they play so much. So,
- 8:11Speaker 5: I don't know. They're wearing, like, stupid shit. That's fine.
- 8:15Speaker 5: I don't care. I don't see them. You can't see them.
- 8:19Speaker 5: You're going to bring a chair and sit down.
- 8:21Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 8:22Speaker 5: And then start doing hippie dance. No, I don't dance.
- 8:25Speaker 12: See, you know it.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Sometimes you do.
- 8:26Speaker 5: You understand. Santa Claus dance. Yeah, but that's only for you.
- 8:32Speaker 5: Those are special dances, but that doesn't count for the
- 8:35Speaker 5: real world.
- 8:37Speaker 8: Alright, they might be giants. So, yeah, the band themselves
- 8:40Speaker 8: actually kicked ass. Especially if you're into super nerdy rock.
- 8:45Speaker 5: And that was my thing. The more I sat there
- 8:46Speaker 5: and watched them, I was like, this has to be
- 8:48Speaker 5: awesome for them to... I mean, just because... they were
- 8:51Speaker 5: having so much fun playing.
- 8:53Speaker 8: Like, when I imagine coming up with anything musically, it's always,
- 8:56Speaker 8: you know, like everything else I come up with, angry
- 8:58Speaker 8: and bitter.
- 8:59Speaker 5: And just, like, dark.
- 9:01Speaker 8: So, I mean, most of the music I'm normally drawn
- 9:03Speaker 8: to is also angry and depressing and dark. So I'm
- 9:06Speaker 8: listening to this, and, I mean, almost all of theirs,
- 9:09Speaker 8: even the songs about people dying, are pretty damn upbeat
- 9:12Speaker 8: and fun. And I'm just like, it must be great to, like, actually, like,
- 9:16Speaker 8: play music that's enjoyable. Like, I'm not used to exposing
- 9:21Speaker 8: myself to that type of entertainment. So, yeah, it was
- 9:24Speaker 8: really weird.
- 9:25Speaker 5: Maybe you should. I guess I should. Maybe you should
- 9:27Speaker 5: cheer the fuck up.
- 9:27Speaker 8: I think that's why I balance out with cheesy pop music,
- 9:31Speaker 8: and that's why I always kind of like this. That's
- 9:32Speaker 8: why I'm listening to Selena, because that's the one thing
- 9:34Speaker 8: that keeps me from going on a shooting spree.
- 9:37Speaker 5: It's like, okay, well, I can listen to this, and
- 9:40Speaker 5: it brightens it just enough to put it over the edge. So, yeah,
- 9:44Speaker 5: I think it's.
- 9:44Speaker 18: It's a Mandy.
- 9:45Speaker 5: I like some Mandy more. Yeah, you can't go wrong
- 9:46Speaker 5: with Mandy. Mandy keeps me from killing people on occasion. So.
- 9:50Speaker 8: Yeah, I think that's why every once in a while,
- 9:53Speaker 8: you know, it's that 25% of my musical diet that
- 9:56Speaker 8: has to be cheesy pop. that people don't... Another thing
- 9:59Speaker 8: people don't understand that I will partake in. I'm just like, yeah,
- 10:03Speaker 8: I know it doesn't make any sense, but sometimes it's necessary.
- 10:06Speaker 5: Sometimes you just need some Selena, goddammit. That's... You're telling me.
- 10:12Speaker 5: You guys are weird. Oh, yeah, I don't argue. I'm
- 10:16Speaker 5: totally weird, but.
- 10:18Speaker 8: Again, back to probably a more acceptable one, is they
- 10:20Speaker 8: might be giants. They are fun, and to tie in
- 10:24Speaker 8: some geekiness to it, I mean, they did do a
- 10:26Speaker 8: Planet of the Apes theme song.
- 10:28Speaker 5: They broke up the audience into halves, and one side
- 10:32Speaker 5: had to chant, Apes!
- 10:33Speaker 19: Apes!
- 10:33Speaker 5: Apes! And the other side had to chant, People!
- 10:36Speaker 12: People!
- 10:36Speaker 5: Which side were you on? I was on the people side,
- 10:39Speaker 5: and we won. So, I'm pretty proud of that.
- 10:42Speaker 8: There was a competition of some sort, I guess, to
- 10:45Speaker 8: see who could do it more consistently and louder.
- 10:48Speaker 5: I wasn't really, I'm not a big, you know. I'm
- 10:51Speaker 5: not a participator. Yeah, I'm not really a big yippy
- 10:53Speaker 5: kind of person at the concerts.
- 10:55Speaker 8: I might clap just to sort of support them in general,
- 10:58Speaker 8: but even that's pretty yippy.
- 10:59Speaker 5: It's about 50% of the time. So, yeah, that one
- 11:03Speaker 5: was fun. And then later there was a puppet show.
- 11:06Speaker 15: What?
- 11:07Speaker 5: Yes. And they had, well, we're essentially sock puppets. It
- 11:10Speaker 5: was just like a knit puppet with eyes glued on it.
- 11:13Speaker 8: And they stood in front of the, they had a
- 11:15Speaker 8: giant screen behind them. So they climbed up in front
- 11:18Speaker 8: of the camera that was running it and started doing
- 11:21Speaker 8: a puppet show. That was their alter ego band that
- 11:24Speaker 8: they were just opening for. And yeah, that was actually
- 11:28Speaker 8: pretty entertaining for, you know, a puppet show in front
- 11:31Speaker 8: of thousands of people.
- 11:33Speaker 5: Boyfriend bought some puppets, so that was pretty exciting. Yeah,
- 11:36Speaker 5: they were boxing puppets, though. That's right, I saw the pictures.
- 11:39Speaker 8: And I have to say, once again, I said it online,
- 11:41Speaker 8: that's the most unfair fight I've ever seen.
- 11:43Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 11:44Speaker 18: Are you going to break it down for our home listeners?
- 11:47Speaker 12: Yeah, I found a set of 1960s Muhammad Ali and
- 11:51Speaker 12: Howard Cosell boxing puppets.
- 11:53Speaker 8: I'm sorry, but Ali in his prime versus Cosell at
- 11:56Speaker 8: any time in his career.
- 11:58Speaker 5: I know, but they had constant... friendly verbal battles and banter.
- 12:04Speaker 8: Yeah, they go together in the time period. They certainly do.
- 12:08Speaker 8: That was the name in boxing. Yeah, I made you,
- 12:10Speaker 8: you made me. You made me, I made you, you know,
- 12:12Speaker 8: kind of thing.
- 12:13Speaker 5: So they go together, you know, but the fighting part. Yeah.
- 12:17Speaker 5: But hey, it's still funny. For $ 9, they were mint condition, so.
- 12:21Speaker 8: Those are, I would have bought them for $ 9.
- 12:22Speaker 5: Those are awesome. I think that you always round down
- 12:24Speaker 5: that drive me absolutely insane. $ 9. 99. That's closer to $ 10.
- 12:27Speaker 7: Oh, good God.
- 12:30Speaker 5: Round up. He has his own math.
- 12:32Speaker 1: He does.
- 12:32Speaker 5: Yeah, leave my math alone. It works. Well, does it? Yeah,
- 12:36Speaker 5: it does. It doesn't work. It works in my world.
- 12:39Speaker 5: You're world retarded.
- 12:43Speaker 20: Yeah.
- 12:44Speaker 5: Well, you're not invited, so there. Why are you there?
- 12:49Speaker 5: Dang you. We're drawing a line down the middle of
- 12:51Speaker 5: the house. On the what?
- 12:54Speaker 8: On the middle of the house. This is Jay's world.
- 12:56Speaker 8: You stay out of Jay's world. I've seen sitcoms. That's
- 12:58Speaker 8: how this shit works.
- 12:59Speaker 5: And it never works. And it never works. What else
- 13:03Speaker 5: did you do?
- 13:04Speaker 8: Otherwise, I was just going to go with one other
- 13:07Speaker 8: movie I did. For some reason, I'm not even sure
- 13:10Speaker 8: specifically why. I think I just wanted something sort of
- 13:12Speaker 8: fun last week and.
- 13:16Speaker 5: Not so heavy. Last week I decided to watch They Lived.
- 13:19Speaker 5: How was that? Have you watched it recently? Oh, yeah,
- 13:21Speaker 5: it's great. I love that movie. I mean, it is...
- 13:24Speaker 5: It's got one of the longest damn fight scenes in it.
- 13:27Speaker 5: I believe the longest fight scene in the movie. And
- 13:29Speaker 5: most ridiculous. It's fucking retarded. Oh, my God.
- 13:33Speaker 21: So.
- 13:34Speaker 5: And you made me watch it a lot. Oh, yes,
- 13:35Speaker 5: I did. You're mad. You were so angry. You were like, oh!
- 13:41Speaker 5: It's awesome. And just the fight scene or the whole movie? No,
- 13:44Speaker 5: the whole movie. Well, that's the thing. It's like I
- 13:47Speaker 5: remember watching it years ago, and I kind of liked it. Again,
- 13:50Speaker 5: I thought the fight scene was ridiculous even then.
- 13:53Speaker 8: But I was like, it's been a long time. And
- 13:54Speaker 8: I started watching, I think, last year. I got like
- 13:56Speaker 8: halfway into it and fell asleep and didn't finish. I
- 13:59Speaker 8: was like, okay, I want to see that.
- 14:00Speaker 5: It's not wrong turn.
- 14:00Speaker 22: We'll do it.
- 14:01Speaker 8: I do that with half the movies I watch. What
- 14:03Speaker 8: are you talking about? So, this time, I was like,
- 14:05Speaker 8: I want to actually sit down and finish watching it. So,
- 14:07Speaker 8: it must have been a long time since the end,
- 14:09Speaker 8: because I didn't even remember how it wrapped up.
- 14:11Speaker 5: Like, it was just like, I know, halfway in, I
- 14:14Speaker 5: was like, what does happen at the end of this movie?
- 14:17Speaker 8: Which is odd, because in the middle of the They
- 14:19Speaker 8: Might Be Giants set, they brought up They Live, and
- 14:22Speaker 8: then they said something like, at.
- 14:23Speaker 5: The end of They Live, and they went, wait, what
- 14:25Speaker 5: did happen at the end? I don't even remember the end.
- 14:27Speaker 5: It was odd that it.
- 14:28Speaker 18: I don't remember.
- 14:29Speaker 8: Yeah, the concert, and I guess maybe life in general.
- 14:32Speaker 8: Everybody seems to forget what happens at the end of it.
- 14:34Speaker 23: Yeah, I've seen it several times, and I still really
- 14:36Speaker 23: can't remember at the end.
- 14:38Speaker 5: He destroys the satellite, doesn't he?
- 14:40Speaker 8: Yeah, but again, and I realized why, it's like it's
- 14:42Speaker 8: a very lackluster ending. Yeah.
- 14:44Speaker 5: Especially the last couple of scenes. It's just random stuff happening.
- 14:49Speaker 8: And then the one, the last one is really random
- 14:51Speaker 8: and just happens in credits. And I'm just like, Maybe
- 14:55Speaker 8: that's part of why nobody remembers what the hell happens
- 14:57Speaker 8: at the end of this movie.
- 14:58Speaker 5: There was no big finale. Yeah, I mean, even the
- 15:01Speaker 5: satellite is not much of a finale, really. Yeah, no,
- 15:04Speaker 5: the antenna. He takes out the antenna. Yeah, and then
- 15:06Speaker 5: everybody can see. It's a pretty weak payoff, really.
- 15:09Speaker 23: Yeah, it's like, oh, hey, look, everybody's finally seeing what
- 15:13Speaker 23: you've been seeing the whole movie.
- 15:15Speaker 5: Well, that's, I mean, that's the thing. The more, and the.
- 15:19Speaker 8: If we want to go into it fully somewhere in
- 15:21Speaker 8: our line, we can. But for now, my thinking on
- 15:24Speaker 8: it is it's a really great concept. I mean, that's why, like,
- 15:27Speaker 8: to this day, people reference it constantly. Like, I still
- 15:31Speaker 8: hear geeks in general and occasionally even regular people sort
- 15:34Speaker 8: of reference it because it is such a cool idea
- 15:38Speaker 8: and such.
- 15:39Speaker 5: and plays on such a basic.
- 15:42Speaker 8: Fear of ours that we're all kind of being duped
- 15:44Speaker 8: by something, by the government, by, you know, something up
- 15:47Speaker 8: the line.
- 15:48Speaker 5: Because we are. Because we are.
- 15:50Speaker 8: It's some higher power that's in charge of things and
- 15:52Speaker 8: is running things, and we're, you know, much like the
- 15:55Speaker 8: sheep we actually are, just going right along.
- 15:57Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 15:58Speaker 5: Dude, I think.
- 15:59Speaker 23: That movie is more real than people really seem to understand.
- 16:04Speaker 5: It is. And it is, I think... Again, that's almost
- 16:07Speaker 5: the sad part of it.
- 16:08Speaker 8: I think the concept is so much better than the
- 16:10Speaker 8: actual movie.
- 16:11Speaker 5: The actual movie ends up being that letdown of an
- 16:14Speaker 5: ending and the ridiculous fight scene.
- 16:16Speaker 8: And midway in, I was like, there's not much else
- 16:18Speaker 8: that happens after the first half. Like, after he's running
- 16:21Speaker 8: from the cops, the whole rest is just him running
- 16:23Speaker 8: from the cops and trying to convince a couple other
- 16:25Speaker 8: people that it's happening. But that's it. Like, that's all
- 16:27Speaker 8: you get the whole rest of the movie until the finale.
- 16:30Speaker 8: So it's like, there's not really.
- 16:32Speaker 8: To me, it was like, for a Carpenter movie, it's
- 16:35Speaker 8: kind of weak in the plot.
- 16:39Speaker 5: All right, do you want to go ahead? Wow, what
- 16:41Speaker 5: the hell was that? Do you want to explain what
- 16:43Speaker 5: you just saw? I'm not sure that I can. I
- 16:45Speaker 5: think I needed pictures and I didn't have a camera out.
- 16:49Speaker 5: It was a monster jeep. A monster jeep with jacked
- 16:53Speaker 5: up jeep with zebra stripes?
- 16:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:56Speaker 5: Completely painted zebra stripes.
- 16:58Speaker 11: Yep.
- 16:59Speaker 17: Hell yeah, I was pretty sure I was getting ready
- 17:01Speaker 17: to run over that other car too.
- 17:03Speaker 5: There was a car over in.
- 17:04Speaker 17: The emergency lane and this... monster jeep zebra thing come
- 17:08Speaker 17: to the rescue you look like a damn tonka toy
- 17:12Speaker 17: like like you.
- 17:13Speaker 23: Remember the old tonka toys like uh the adventure sets
- 17:16Speaker 23: the one that.
- 17:16Speaker 8: Had the guy with like the mustache yeah that's what
- 17:19Speaker 8: it looked like he would be driving i still have
- 17:20Speaker 8: that guy somewhere huge fucking monster truck jeep that's all
- 17:26Speaker 8: zebraed out, like, safari-like.
- 17:28Speaker 5: He was, like, my Indiana Jones figure before they made
- 17:31Speaker 5: Indiana Jones figures.
- 17:32Speaker 21: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 17:33Speaker 8: I made a little whip for him, and, yeah, he
- 17:35Speaker 8: had the hat already. I love that guy, because he
- 17:37Speaker 8: was almost Indiana Jones. Almost, but he had the mustache.
- 17:40Speaker 5: And predated it. Those were, like, from the late 70s, so. Oh, wow.
- 17:45Speaker 5: Lucas and Spielberg stole from Tonk.
- 17:46Speaker 24: Yeah.
- 17:47Speaker 5: All right. So, yeah, they live.
- 17:50Speaker 8: To me, it's like it's, I don't know, it's so
- 17:53Speaker 8: much better better of a concept than what you actually
- 17:56Speaker 8: get structurally in the story. It seems like it's kind
- 17:59Speaker 8: of a letdown story-wise. And some of that, no offense
- 18:02Speaker 8: to Roddy, but I mean, it's a whole, and to me,
- 18:06Speaker 8: I've said this all along, to me, that role was
- 18:09Speaker 8: written for Kurt Russell.
- 18:10Speaker 5: I mean, the two previous movies were Kurt Russell.
- 18:14Speaker 8: You look at Roddy Piper, he's got, I mean, he
- 18:16Speaker 8: looks like he's got the hair that Kurt had.
- 18:18Speaker 5: At that time. Everybody had that hair at that time.
- 18:20Speaker 11: He did.
- 18:20Speaker 8: But I mean, he's wearing the jeans and shirt that
- 18:23Speaker 8: Kurt Russell was wearing in previous movies. I mean, you
- 18:25Speaker 8: look at him, it looks exactly like Kurt Russell did
- 18:28Speaker 8: in Big Trouble in China, which was right before this.
- 18:31Speaker 8: So it's like, this to me was that, it was
- 18:32Speaker 8: supposed to be that trifecta of, you know.
- 18:34Speaker 5: The thing. Why did Kurt Russell not do this?
- 18:37Speaker 14: I don't know.
- 18:37Speaker 8: He might have just got another job. Maybe they got
- 18:40Speaker 8: pissed at each other and didn't want to work together.
- 18:41Speaker 5: Maybe he demanded more money.
- 18:42Speaker 8: To me, that is such a, needed to be a
- 18:45Speaker 8: Kurt Russell role and fell to Roddy. And Roddy's fun.
- 18:49Speaker 8: We just saw him a couple months ago. But, yeah,
- 18:53Speaker 8: he definitely is not Kurt Russell.
- 18:54Speaker 5: In this movie. He is Rowdy. He's rowdy.
- 18:59Speaker 8: No argument there. He is one rowdy motherfucker. But, yeah,
- 19:03Speaker 8: I think some of it suffers from him. The other guy,
- 19:08Speaker 8: is it Keith David, I think is the other guy?
- 19:12Speaker 5: I don't know. Who?
- 19:14Speaker 8: I think it's Keith David, the other guy that he's
- 19:16Speaker 8: kind of convinced that he gets in a fight with.
- 19:18Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. He's pretty good. I think it's
- 19:21Speaker 5: Keith David. I can't remember. Yeah, or David Keith. They're interchangeable,
- 19:25Speaker 5: aren't they? Whatever. But, yeah, he's... Other than the white
- 19:29Speaker 5: and black.
- 19:30Speaker 7: I'm driving.
- 19:30Speaker 5: I ain't got a computer. I can't look it up. But, yeah, they...
- 19:35Speaker 5: He's really good. It's like one of.
- 19:37Speaker 8: If you could have had him with Kurt Russell doing
- 19:39Speaker 8: this movie and a little punch-up on the script, I
- 19:42Speaker 8: think it could have been right up there with some
- 19:43Speaker 8: of the best Carpenter stuff.
- 19:44Speaker 5: I still think the concept is up there, but I
- 19:47Speaker 5: think the finished product is not so much.
- 19:50Speaker 8: It's a little off maybe, but anyway, they live, still awesome,
- 19:56Speaker 8: still a hell of a good time, but yeah, amazing concept,
- 20:01Speaker 8: all right, you want to move into your geek week soon?
- 20:04Speaker 5: We didn't actually watch that much stuff. I spent more
- 20:06Speaker 5: time working than anything else.
- 20:08Speaker 9: But we did watch a few things. I, myself, I
- 20:11Speaker 9: watched the first two seasons of Veronica Mars over again because, goddammit, I.
- 20:15Speaker 5: Love the hell out of that show.
- 20:16Speaker 17: I love me some Veronica. I swear, that's one of
- 20:18Speaker 17: the best shows ever. And that show is still awesome.
- 20:22Speaker 17: I can't get Boyfriend to watch it because Boyfriend.
- 20:24Speaker 5: Just don't care. I know. It's just so well written
- 20:27Speaker 5: and Veronica Mars is just so damn cute and it's just.
- 20:31Speaker 6: It's just.
- 20:32Speaker 5: Some things I don't care about.
- 20:33Speaker 8: For something that's banking on her cute factor, like they
- 20:36Speaker 8: kind of were in the beginning, it is amazing how
- 20:40Speaker 8: well written it is and how much it relies on
- 20:42Speaker 8: being a smart script and a really intricate plot that
- 20:46Speaker 8: you wouldn't see coming out of a goofy, made-for-cable-network TV show.
- 20:51Speaker 5: It's way smarter than I ever expected going in, because I.
- 20:54Speaker 8: Thought it was just going to be another dumb, WB
- 20:57Speaker 8: teen girl, you know, looking cute kind of show.
- 21:00Speaker 17: But then how much dark, how much dark elements it has,
- 21:02Speaker 17: and I mean, the whole first season is her trying
- 21:04Speaker 17: to figure out who murdered.
- 21:06Speaker 5: Her best friend and who raped her.
- 21:07Speaker 8: Yeah, it's not a cheery show like you would expect
- 21:10Speaker 8: from that kind of show.
- 21:11Speaker 5: And then the second season's dealing with who blew up
- 21:13Speaker 5: a bus, you know? Full of kids, yeah. Full of
- 21:15Speaker 5: high school kids, so it ends up being If you
- 21:18Speaker 5: haven't seen it, I'm going to spoil it. Spoiler alert.
- 21:21Speaker 22: Spoiler alert.
- 21:22Speaker 5: It's got a, what's his face? Beaver? No, no. What
- 21:26Speaker 5: about the guy who was one of the three men
- 21:27Speaker 5: and a baby?
- 21:28Speaker 24: Gutenberg.
- 21:29Speaker 5: Oh, Gutenberg. Steve Gutenberg being a fucking child molester. Oh, yeah.
- 21:33Speaker 5: I think I walked in on that part. You're like, oh,
- 21:35Speaker 5: that's Steve Gutenberg?
- 21:36Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 21:36Speaker 8: And then you walked out. In the beginning, I thought
- 21:38Speaker 8: it was odd casting. As it goes on, I was like,
- 21:41Speaker 8: he's pretty good at this. Again, the working... He's convincible
- 21:44Speaker 8: as hell. Well, no, because he plays his normal cheesy
- 21:48Speaker 8: Steve Guttenberg kind of role because he's like a politician
- 21:51Speaker 8: and he's supposed to play that. And then, like most politicians,
- 21:54Speaker 8: there's something evil and underhanded going on and.
- 21:57Speaker 5: He pulls that off too. It seems a little more
- 21:59Speaker 5: convincing being.
- 22:01Speaker 8: He can play that cheesy persona a little better.
- 22:05Speaker 9: Yeah, it's got so many dark elements that you wouldn't
- 22:07Speaker 9: expect from such a surface level. It's just a high
- 22:11Speaker 9: school show.
- 22:12Speaker 5: It could be, but it's a lot more than that.
- 22:15Speaker 5: That's what makes it so awesome because... It's... I don't know.
- 22:18Speaker 5: You have to pay attention, I guess. So you have to...
- 22:21Speaker 5: That's why I don't watch it. I don't like stuff
- 22:24Speaker 5: I have to pay attention to. It's serious.
- 22:27Speaker 9: But, yeah, it's still one of my favorite shows. I
- 22:29Speaker 9: think it's probably in my top five all-time favorite shows.
- 22:31Speaker 5: It is. It's awesome. But then, other than that, we watched... Well,
- 22:37Speaker 5: Randy's probably already heard our take on both of the
- 22:39Speaker 5: next movies that we're going to talk about, so... Sorry, Randy.
- 22:43Speaker 5: We watched Vanishing on 7th Street.
- 22:46Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 22:46Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:47Speaker 12: Yeah that movie just yeah it sucked.
- 22:52Speaker 8: Stupid what is I don't even the name sounds familiar
- 22:55Speaker 8: but I'm mixing it up it's.
- 22:56Speaker 17: Got Hayden Christensen wakes up one morning and like everybody
- 22:59Speaker 17: vanished everybody done got they done got called they're gone you.
- 23:03Speaker 23: Know what I wish this movie would vanish out of
- 23:05Speaker 23: my brain because.
- 23:06Speaker 8: It sucked I think I think I saw the trailer
- 23:09Speaker 8: for this it seemed like it could have been yeah yeah.
- 23:12Speaker 5: The trailer looks pretty good you're like oh something could
- 23:14Speaker 5: happen you know what that's pretty much the movie You going, hey,
- 23:18Speaker 5: something could have happened. But what is it? We don't know.
- 23:21Speaker 5: We never find out what happened. We never find out
- 23:23Speaker 5: what it is. No, you have no clue. We spend
- 23:27Speaker 5: half the time yelling at the people for this stupid shit.
- 23:30Speaker 5: Being dumb. We need a source of light. So what
- 23:33Speaker 5: do they do?
- 23:33Speaker 12: They scrounge the city looking for fucking batteries.
- 23:38Speaker 5: No, what is one girl's solution? She has those little
- 23:40Speaker 5: glow bracelets. Glow sticks. Glow sticks. She's on a fucking
- 23:43Speaker 5: rave or something. I'm like, All right, they don't come
- 23:46Speaker 5: out with the light. Build a fucking fire. Exactly. No,
- 23:49Speaker 5: it doesn't occur to them until probably close to the
- 23:51Speaker 5: end of the movie that they fell on fire. And
- 23:53Speaker 5: then all they have is torches. Yeah. They don't even
- 23:54Speaker 5: have a full fucking fire. They have piddly-ass little torches
- 23:57Speaker 5: that fucking go out. Yeah. I'm like, I'd be setting
- 23:59Speaker 5: some shit on fire.
- 24:00Speaker 10: Really?
- 24:01Speaker 5: Like, there ain't no damn people. I'd be setting buildings, houses.
- 24:04Speaker 5: I'd be setting the whole damn town on fire.
- 24:06Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 24:06Speaker 5: Well, they're in New York, I think. I could find
- 24:09Speaker 5: a building that's set on fire in New York.
- 24:10Speaker 12: Okay, you're going to tell me out of the whole
- 24:12Speaker 12: entire city....
- 24:15Speaker 5: One truck starts. Only one. There's only a couple of
- 24:19Speaker 5: cars in New York. Yeah. No, they're everywhere. But none
- 24:23Speaker 5: of them work except for this one truck.
- 24:25Speaker 17: I'm thinking that they're basing it on the fact that
- 24:26Speaker 17: it's an older truck, so it didn't have as much electrical.
- 24:28Speaker 5: Because there's no other older cars in New York, God forbid.
- 24:32Speaker 5: I'm just saying. I mean, that's what they're going for.
- 24:34Speaker 5: I know. I know. But still. I'm not saying it's
- 24:37Speaker 5: not fucking retarded. I'm just saying that's what they're going for.
- 24:39Speaker 17: It is retarded. And I'm sorry, but maybe I still
- 24:42Speaker 17: hate Hayden Christensen from the goddamn Star Wars movies, but
- 24:44Speaker 17: he was.
- 24:45Speaker 5: Just fucking horrible in this movie. I wanted to punch
- 24:47Speaker 5: him in his face the whole time. My response to
- 24:49Speaker 5: that is, no!
- 24:51Speaker 23: Yeah, you were just waiting for whatever it was that
- 24:54Speaker 23: was going to come drag their souls away.
- 24:56Speaker 5: Hurry up! So he could scream the whole time?
- 24:59Speaker 1: No!
- 25:00Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 25:01Speaker 8: It's not even him doing that, but he'll never... He'll
- 25:03Speaker 8: get the blame. He'll never live it down.
- 25:05Speaker 5: Yeah. We'll all make fun of him and Lucas for
- 25:07Speaker 5: the rest of his life. It was just... It was stupid.
- 25:10Speaker 5: There's no explanation. I guess they... What was their final explanation? That, oh,
- 25:15Speaker 5: the world's gonna start over?
- 25:16Speaker 23: Yeah, like the world reboots itself every certain year.
- 25:21Speaker 12: And it only starts back with these two small children...
- 25:25Speaker 12: They're left to fend for themselves.
- 25:27Speaker 5: Guess what? They're kids. They're going to starve to death
- 25:30Speaker 5: and die. You know why? Because they're like, what, six?
- 25:34Speaker 5: Maybe eight?
- 25:36Speaker 23: Eight-year-olds don't know how to spark fires. He's going to
- 25:39Speaker 23: scrounge for Twinkies for the rest of his life. For
- 25:42Speaker 23: Woody Harrelson.
- 25:43Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 25:43Speaker 5: I mean, what? That's a healthy diet, the post-apocalyptic world. Oh,
- 25:47Speaker 5: my God. movie was just.
- 25:51Speaker 9: Uh having to listen to hayden christian or the hayden
- 25:53Speaker 9: christiansen that was talking about the only reason he was
- 25:55Speaker 9: still alive was because he willed it yeah he willed
- 25:59Speaker 9: himself to still be alive yes that's good was it
- 26:02Speaker 9: uh john linguizamo john linguizamo yeah he was actually taller
- 26:07Speaker 9: he was sad it's sad when john linguizamo is the
- 26:10Speaker 9: most tolerable part of your movie i've always said he's
- 26:13Speaker 9: really good as a serious actor In the comedy stuff,
- 26:16Speaker 9: they give him crap, and he does this really over-the-top bullshit.
- 26:19Speaker 5: But in serious roles... Hold on. After we watch the movie,
- 26:22Speaker 5: boyfriend maybe watch the trailer for The Pest. Yeah, I
- 26:25Speaker 5: went to the theater and saw The Pest. Oh, my God.
- 26:28Speaker 8: I want to talk to John Leguizamo just to ask
- 26:30Speaker 8: him what the fuck about The Pest.
- 26:32Speaker 5: I'm sorry. I don't even know why I went to
- 26:35Speaker 5: see that movie. I think I was bored that day. Oh,
- 26:37Speaker 5: my God. It's so obnoxious.
- 26:41Speaker 8: But, yeah, but again, I've said for years, it's like
- 26:44Speaker 8: every time I see him in stuff where he's serious
- 26:45Speaker 8: and he's done a good amount of it over the years,
- 26:47Speaker 8: he's just still not known for it, but he's.
- 26:49Speaker 5: A good actor. He was good for Romeo and Juliet.
- 26:52Speaker 5: His stand-up's good. Yeah, he was good for Romeo and Juliet.
- 26:55Speaker 8: He's even better, like, as much as I think he's
- 26:56Speaker 8: a good actor, his stand-up stuff, like, his... It's just
- 26:59Speaker 8: performance art. Like, when you watch him, it's not even
- 27:02Speaker 8: straight stand-up. He goes into characters. He does scenes from
- 27:05Speaker 8: his childhood. Like, I mean, it is amazing. So, yeah,
- 27:08Speaker 8: go watch some of his old stuff that they called, like,
- 27:11Speaker 8: stand-up shows.
- 27:12Speaker 5: But I'm like, they are just phenomenal to watch him.
- 27:15Speaker 5: And then, yeah.
- 27:16Speaker 8: So, I mean, he just needs to not do comedy
- 27:18Speaker 8: the way that they usually package it and give it
- 27:20Speaker 8: to him because.
- 27:21Speaker 5: Yeah, just... It was the best part of that Spawn
- 27:24Speaker 5: movie that nobody remembers. There was a good part to
- 27:26Speaker 5: that movie? Yeah, that was bad casting, I'm sorry. Yeah,
- 27:29Speaker 5: but still. I mean, just trying to.
- 27:31Speaker 8: Anybody trying to do that would have been horrible, but
- 27:34Speaker 8: he didn't fit that either.
- 27:35Speaker 5: I don't know. I didn't buy him in that. And
- 27:37Speaker 5: he was still better than most things in that movie,
- 27:39Speaker 5: I agree, but... Everything about that movie was bad. Yeah.
- 27:44Speaker 5: The other movie we watched, yeah, I'm still not sure how.
- 27:48Speaker 17: I feel about it, but I think Boyfriend has a growing.
- 27:50Speaker 5: Affection for it after not having seen it for a
- 27:53Speaker 5: couple weeks. Freak. Freak, yeah. Yeah, at first when I
- 27:58Speaker 5: watched this, I didn't really know what to think about it, but.
- 28:00Speaker 12: It's like the more I sat and thought about it,
- 28:02Speaker 12: the more I want to watch it again, because it's
- 28:04Speaker 12: pretty out there.
- 28:05Speaker 5: I thought about.
- 28:06Speaker 8: In fact, I had it tentatively on the list, and
- 28:09Speaker 8: then I thought if we end up going to see
- 28:11Speaker 8: Alex later in another couple of months, we want to
- 28:15Speaker 8: work it in as like a full movie.
- 28:16Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I think we want to.
- 28:18Speaker 8: So we can go light on it right now, and
- 28:20Speaker 8: we'll come back to it as a full movie somewhere
- 28:22Speaker 8: down the line.
- 28:23Speaker 5: Okay, well, real light. I liked it. I enjoyed it.
- 28:26Speaker 5: It was.
- 28:28Speaker 24: What the fuck?
- 28:29Speaker 5: Completely what the fuck, but you know what? A lot
- 28:31Speaker 5: of it I can see, a lot of it I
- 28:34Speaker 5: kind of identify with. Not really.
- 28:36Speaker 17: Really?
- 28:37Speaker 12: Not like being a mutant, but I mean, the comedy
- 28:41Speaker 12: and just the way out there, just love it.
- 28:46Speaker 5: It was definitely way out there.
- 28:47Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 28:48Speaker 5: And yesterday when.
- 28:49Speaker 17: I was at work, I had to work with a
- 28:50Speaker 17: guy who kind of looked like Alex Winter after he
- 28:53Speaker 17: had turned into a freak. He had the weird buggy eyes,
- 28:58Speaker 17: but then he had a weird neck, so I couldn't
- 29:00Speaker 17: tell if I could get the.
- 29:02Speaker 5: Yeah, it was weird. I'm going to guess he doesn't listen, so...
- 29:06Speaker 5: If you do, sorry. Is that our light version? That
- 29:12Speaker 5: also gives everybody heads up. In the near future, we're
- 29:15Speaker 5: going to attempt to watch Freaked. If you haven't seen it,
- 29:18Speaker 5: somehow I miss this movie. I saw it.
- 29:26Speaker 23: I remember seeing the case for it, but for some
- 29:29Speaker 23: reason I just never did go and read it.
- 29:31Speaker 5: I don't know why. I only knew it existed because
- 29:35Speaker 5: before the movie ever came out.
- 29:37Speaker 8: I swear somebody the whole merchandise world like lost a
- 29:40Speaker 8: bet or something because they made big vinyl figures of
- 29:45Speaker 8: those characters which are incredibly hard to find now yeah
- 29:48Speaker 8: they're it's i mean and we and what's funny is
- 29:51Speaker 8: we were like giving them away like that's when i
- 29:52Speaker 8: worked at the video store and we just got them
- 29:54Speaker 8: in and we're like what the hell is this and
- 29:57Speaker 8: it was just like a box of this and another
- 30:01Speaker 8: box of this guy.
- 30:01Speaker 5: And I mean, we had a good amount of them
- 30:03Speaker 5: and they sat there forever because first of all, it
- 30:05Speaker 5: was well before the movie ever came out. I don't
- 30:08Speaker 5: know if it even opened. If it did, it opened
- 30:10Speaker 5: for like a weekend in our city.
- 30:12Speaker 8: And then eventually it like took forever to get the
- 30:15Speaker 8: video or like nobody ever carried it. So, I mean,
- 30:17Speaker 8: it was like years before it like fully hit cable
- 30:20Speaker 8: and people started to know what that was. By then, we'd, like,
- 30:23Speaker 8: you know, marked them down to 20 cents and gave
- 30:26Speaker 8: them away to people. So the people that probably have
- 30:28Speaker 8: them out there probably got a deal on them because
- 30:30Speaker 8: nobody knew what the hell they were. But, yeah, it was, like,
- 30:33Speaker 8: big 12-inch vinyl figures of almost all those main characters.
- 30:38Speaker 8: They didn't really look great, but, I mean, the fact
- 30:40Speaker 8: that they made toys for Freak is crazy to me.
- 30:44Speaker 17: I do got to say that I do appreciate the
- 30:47Speaker 17: effort they put into trying to off the gender kid.
- 30:50Speaker 5: That doesn't surprise me coming from you. He was really frightening.
- 30:53Speaker 5: Not at all. And you know kind of the funny
- 30:55Speaker 5: thing is.
- 30:55Speaker 12: When we were growing up, we had this one annoying
- 30:58Speaker 12: kid that almost looked exactly like that kid that used
- 31:01Speaker 12: to hug the shit out of us. And we used
- 31:03Speaker 12: to constantly try to find ways to fucking ditch him,
- 31:06Speaker 12: you know, just to get.
- 31:07Speaker 5: Rid of him. Did you ever throw him out of
- 31:08Speaker 5: a plane?
- 31:09Speaker 23: No, we never threw him out of a plane, but
- 31:10Speaker 23: we had talked about building traps and stuff.
- 31:14Speaker 5: Those are kids for you. To really, yeah, just to
- 31:17Speaker 5: really injure this kid.
- 31:18Speaker 12: We were talking about building punji traps and all.
- 31:22Speaker 5: Types of weird ways to just off this kid. He was.
- 31:26Speaker 5: He was fucking annoying. Oh, shit. Like freaking Rambo.
- 31:32Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 31:33Speaker 5: Awesome. And all we watched together. What else did we watch?
- 31:41Speaker 5: I know you partially watched this with me, but I
- 31:44Speaker 5: watched Detention. Oh, yeah, that was horrible. That was a
- 31:47Speaker 5: horrible shit fest right there. Was that a sci-fi movie? No,
- 31:51Speaker 5: because it was even lower quality. Oh, my God. Yeah,
- 31:54Speaker 5: you're right. It was an atrocity. I guess the basic premise.
- 31:57Speaker 17: Of the movie was that, like, In the 70s or so,
- 32:02Speaker 17: this group of teenagers accidentally killed this other kid by
- 32:06Speaker 17: locking him in the boiler.
- 32:08Speaker 5: That'll do it.
- 32:11Speaker 17: So apparently, when their kids are in high school, the
- 32:16Speaker 17: ghost of this kid is coming back.
- 32:19Speaker 5: To off them or whatever. How very Freddy Krueger of you.
- 32:24Speaker 5: but uh kind of the same no because it's not
- 32:28Speaker 5: only is it the kid it's the ghost of his.
- 32:30Speaker 8: Mother too oh how pretty and Jason up here yeah
- 32:34Speaker 8: see yeah see.
- 32:36Speaker 17: But even more awesome was that their principal was David Carradine.
- 32:39Speaker 5: Nice. That's kind of sad. That's one of the last
- 32:42Speaker 5: roles that David Carradine did. Yeah, it was bad. Why
- 32:45Speaker 5: did he go from Kill Bill to this fucking movie? Well, no,
- 32:50Speaker 5: it wasn't direct route.
- 32:51Speaker 8: I mean, if you look at his filmography, David was
- 32:54Speaker 8: not afraid to cash a paycheck.
- 32:56Speaker 5: David ended up in a lot of really bad stuff.
- 32:59Speaker 5: Kill Bill was more of a fluke. No, that was
- 33:02Speaker 5: a Tarantino. That was one of those.
- 33:04Speaker 8: Your career has gone to, I mean, it's the same
- 33:06Speaker 8: as Travolta. Your career has gone to shit. I know
- 33:08Speaker 8: you're still better than that. Let me pull you out
- 33:11Speaker 8: of this crap, dust you off, and put you in
- 33:13Speaker 8: this amazing role.
- 33:14Speaker 5: And then what happens to your career after that? No telling.
- 33:17Speaker 5: Same thing after Travolta. Went back to shit. Really. I mean,
- 33:20Speaker 5: he made a bajillion dollars after that.
- 33:22Speaker 8: But most people's opinion of him now is kind of
- 33:25Speaker 8: back down to what it used to be. So, yeah,
- 33:29Speaker 8: it's a shame Carradine didn't, even right off the bat,
- 33:32Speaker 8: didn't get a lot better roles.
- 33:34Speaker 5: He ended up still doing some pretty bad stuff towards
- 33:36Speaker 5: the end there. Like this. No offense to Shark Diplosive. Hey,
- 33:40Speaker 5: Shark Diplosive was fucking phenomenal. Shark Diplosive was a bajillion
- 33:44Speaker 5: times better than Detention. Yeah.
- 33:48Speaker 8: It wasn't Shark Diplosive, it was the other one. It
- 33:51Speaker 8: was Mega Shark versus... Because Eric Roberts was Sharknado.
- 33:55Speaker 5: Yeah, okay. Sorry, I fucked that up. Yeah, she was a.
- 33:59Speaker 8: Mega Piranha versus Super... Super Gator versus Mega Python?
- 34:02Speaker 5: Oh, God, I can't even remember. It was one of those.
- 34:05Speaker 5: Whichever one it was, it was a billion times better
- 34:07Speaker 5: than Detention. I mean, I would rather go back to
- 34:10Speaker 5: high school and be in Detention than ever watch this
- 34:12Speaker 5: movie again. It was horrible.
- 34:13Speaker 8: Wow.
- 34:14Speaker 12: Bad.
- 34:14Speaker 5: Yeah, it was bad enough I got up and walked up.
- 34:19Speaker 5: Several times. Several times. That's bad. And then after that,
- 34:23Speaker 5: I watched Wreck. I'd never seen the original.
- 34:27Speaker 17: I watched Quarantine, which I wasn't a really big fan of.
- 34:30Speaker 5: But Wreck I really liked a lot better than Quarantine.
- 34:32Speaker 5: I mentioned Wreck a few months ago, however long it's
- 34:35Speaker 5: been since I watched it.
- 34:36Speaker 8: I liked it, but yeah, again, I kind of want
- 34:39Speaker 8: to watch Quarantine just to see the difference. Because I
- 34:42Speaker 8: think Wreck is awesome in its own way, but at
- 34:45Speaker 8: the same time, it's so.
- 34:49Speaker 8: Shaky cam found footage that sometimes you're like, what the
- 34:51Speaker 8: hell's going on for a minute?
- 34:53Speaker 17: Yeah, the shaky cam was a little... It got too ridiculous,
- 34:56Speaker 17: and not only was he shaking it, but he was
- 34:57Speaker 17: zooming in and out.
- 34:58Speaker 5: I'm like, bitch, there's no reason for you to be
- 34:59Speaker 5: zooming in and out.
- 35:00Speaker 17: I can understand shaking because you're fucking running, but zooming
- 35:04Speaker 17: in and out is just obnoxious.
- 35:05Speaker 5: But I mean, there were some amazing scares.
- 35:07Speaker 8: There's there's parts of it that are really creepy so
- 35:10Speaker 8: i mean it's it's it's good but i i don't
- 35:13Speaker 8: know in a way it could have been like cleaned
- 35:15Speaker 8: up so i i assume that's the kind of thing
- 35:17Speaker 8: did not do that yeah see that's what you were
- 35:19Speaker 8: telling me i was like i assume that's kind of
- 35:20Speaker 8: what they were going to try to do with quarantine
- 35:22Speaker 8: and make it more hollywood and more audience friendly but
- 35:24Speaker 8: doesn't sound like it just seems like they.
- 35:26Speaker 5: Shot more in the dark you could see even less
- 35:29Speaker 5: good idea Because, I mean, there was some seriously creepy-ass
- 35:32Speaker 5: shit in there. Like, the whole end scene, I was
- 35:34Speaker 5: just like, what the fuck is this? What?
- 35:36Speaker 16: Oh, my God, no.
- 35:37Speaker 5: No, make it stop. Yeah, that last 20 minutes is
- 35:39Speaker 5: a crazy ride. And it's... I guess quarantine just didn't
- 35:44Speaker 5: have it for me like that one did. I guess...
- 35:46Speaker 5: I don't know. Whatever. I mean, do we have anything else?
- 35:50Speaker 5: I don't think I have anything else. I didn't watch
- 35:52Speaker 5: anything else. Oh, actually, one thing. I'm fascinated with this show.
- 35:57Speaker 5: Apparently there is a show, and.
- 35:59Speaker 17: I think it's in Chile or whatever, where people that
- 36:02Speaker 17: are from Chile, I'm pretty sure it is, it's a
- 36:06Speaker 17: contest where they have to.
- 36:07Speaker 5: Sing in American songs. American songs in English. American songs
- 36:12Speaker 5: in English sounding like the person singing them. Is it
- 36:15Speaker 5: them sounding like American artists? Like, there was this guy
- 36:19Speaker 5: who did an Eddie Vedder. Sounded like Eddie Vedder. That's
- 36:22Speaker 5: pretty impressive. Like, you could turn around, close your eyes,
- 36:25Speaker 5: and see Eddie Vedder.
- 36:26Speaker 25: This guy hit every single note.
- 36:29Speaker 12: Nice.
- 36:29Speaker 5: Awesome. It's weird because American, not his native language, so
- 36:32Speaker 5: it was just... Yeah, it's just, it's amazing. The Bon
- 36:35Speaker 5: Jovi wasn't as good, though. Bon Jovi, not as good.
- 36:38Speaker 5: The Bono was pretty good. Bono was pretty good. ACDC
- 36:41Speaker 5: was pretty funny. Yeah.
- 36:44Speaker 9: Lady Gaga was pretty close in some parts of it.
- 36:46Speaker 9: When she got to the chorus, it was a lot
- 36:47Speaker 9: better than everything else.
- 36:50Speaker 5: But yeah, I was fascinated. I sat and watched this
- 36:52Speaker 5: for I don't even know how long. Almost as long
- 36:54Speaker 5: as I sat and watched the artsy Amber Heard videos
- 36:57Speaker 5: that apparently her girlfriend shot. Well, see, we knew she
- 37:00Speaker 5: had a new chick, so. I didn't realize that was
- 37:03Speaker 5: the proof because there were videos of Amber Hearn. It's
- 37:06Speaker 5: all like artsy black and white. Running. There's some running involved.
- 37:10Speaker 5: Now I might have to find these.
- 37:11Speaker 18: Hold on.
- 37:11Speaker 5: And there's her in different wigs and her just. Sightly.
- 37:15Speaker 5: I wouldn't doubt it. I didn't watch all of them.
- 37:17Speaker 5: Are there jumping jacks? There's her doing her sister a
- 37:19Speaker 5: piggyback ride. Oh, that sounds fun. Her sister, not as
- 37:22Speaker 5: hot as her. Poor child. Hey, they can't all be.
- 37:25Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 37:26Speaker 5: I'm sure that sucked for her her whole life.
- 37:29Speaker 6: Seriously.
- 37:29Speaker 5: I was like, man, I hate Amber. My sister sucks.
- 37:33Speaker 5: I stayed at a hotel down there, and they still
- 37:34Speaker 5: had metal keys.
- 37:36Speaker 18: What's a key?
- 37:37Speaker 5: Dude, they had a little triangle. It was a plastic
- 37:40Speaker 5: triangle and a key. Like a physical key. Not a card.
- 37:43Speaker 5: A key. This was the Bates Motel, right? Dude. Okay.
- 37:48Speaker 5: But yeah, that's all. Being on my ass is awesome.
- 37:51Speaker 5: Look up to any better guy. And that's all I have.
- 37:55Speaker 5: Amber Heard's awesome.
- 37:56Speaker 8: All righty.
- 37:57Speaker 5: All right, I'm done.
- 37:58Speaker 26: That rounds out the Geek Week, so we're getting relatively
- 38:00Speaker 26: close to the convention here. So I guess we will
- 38:04Speaker 26: take a break and come back and check in with
- 38:06Speaker 26: you somewhere in the middle of this mess.
- 38:08Speaker 5: Hopefully I don't punch that douchebag in the face. We'll see.
- 38:12Speaker 12: Hopefully I don't have to deal with his security after
- 38:15Speaker 12: you punch him in the face.
- 38:17Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure last time he heard me.
- 38:19Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 38:20Speaker 5: He was surrounded by guys. Like, huge guys. Yeah, like,
- 38:22Speaker 5: all bigger than him. Yeah, I'm a tough guy, but
- 38:25Speaker 5: I got, like, eight guys bigger than me, so. He
- 38:28Speaker 5: threatens ghosts. What do you expect from somebody? Yeah, they're really...
- 38:31Speaker 5: He's such a bitch. Alright, so we'll be back.
- 38:34Speaker 13: Alright, bye.
- 38:59Speaker 5: What have I done today?
- 39:02Speaker 27: Too sad to watch the jets fly over.
- 39:05Speaker 13: A car goes by and the sun goes down.
- 39:09Speaker 5: We talk about the town. The city's mad in the
- 39:15Speaker 5: head and sick in the soul.
- 39:18Speaker 27: All the stars flew away a long time ago.
- 39:21Speaker 21: Isn't that nice?
- 39:27Speaker 13: Welcome to your favorite drive-in place. and a sparkling new season.

- 40:03Speaker 12: Thanks, folks.
- 40:04Speaker 24: And once again, welcome back.
- 40:09Speaker 5: You may think you're normal.
- 40:11Speaker 24: But you are all a product of mutations.
- 40:15Speaker 13: Your ancestors, our ancestors, were freaks.
- 40:22Speaker 6: The mutations.
- 40:24Speaker 3: A journey into the world of monsters and madmen.
- 40:29Speaker 5: He's one of us.
- 40:30Speaker 24: We accept you. He's one of us.
- 40:33Speaker 11: Yes.
- 40:34Speaker 5: Our brother.
- 40:35Speaker 15: Shut up!
- 40:36Speaker 5: Our loving father.
- 40:38Speaker 10: Enter a world of freaks.
- 40:41Speaker 19: Get back!
- 40:42Speaker 5: Stay away from me!
- 40:45Speaker 3: The Mutations. From Columbia Pictures, rated R. Under 17, not
- 40:51Speaker 3: admitted without parents. The mutations, once created, they can never
- 40:59Speaker 3: be stopped.
- 41:06Speaker 20: I don't know why you're not talking to me I
- 41:10Speaker 20: don't know what went.
- 41:12Speaker 27: Wrong Two people who have so much together Really ought
- 41:20Speaker 27: to get along, yeah But something started.
- 41:25Speaker 24: To change inside.
- 41:27Speaker 27: Of you And right out of the blue Two friends
- 41:34Speaker 27: who such like to give Don't know where you are,
- 41:39Speaker 27: what you're going through What are we trying to prove?
- 41:45Speaker 15: Is where this world's too big to take on your
- 41:50Speaker 15: shoulders Real jackal tears and pain.
- 41:55Speaker 28: You could break down in my arms, babe But it
- 41:59Speaker 28: really hurts when you turn away We're here with Leah Thompson,
- 42:07Speaker 28: and first I have to start off in saying.
- 42:12Speaker 15: If.
- 42:29Speaker 22: The teenage version of me was transported here. I think
- 42:33Speaker 22: he would have a heart attack and die. I... Yeah,
- 42:38Speaker 22: I had a very odd attachment to you. And I
- 42:41Speaker 22: guess still do. But I've tried to move on with
- 42:43Speaker 22: my life since then. But, yeah, it was kind of
- 42:46Speaker 22: ridiculous at that point. And sort of sappy.
- 42:50Speaker 7: I don't... Yeah. That's so sweet. Yeah, it's really sad.
- 42:55Speaker 18: No, you know.
- 42:57Speaker 20: I got to play some really interesting characters that people
- 43:00Speaker 20: really related to. And I captured a certain kind of,
- 43:04Speaker 20: at least with Back to the Future, a certain kind of.
- 43:07Speaker 1: What could I say? Innocence? But not, you know, like
- 43:14Speaker 1: a nice innocence.
- 43:16Speaker 7: Yeah, definitely.
- 43:17Speaker 16: Attractive innocence. A demented innocence.
- 43:21Speaker 7: I certainly understand the demented part.
- 43:24Speaker 18: Yeah, yeah.
- 43:25Speaker 7: So, yeah, I... That was just, yeah, it.
- 43:27Speaker 22: Was very, it's very strange talking to you.
- 43:30Speaker 8: Or even yesterday when I saw you, it was, yeah,
- 43:32Speaker 8: it's very strange.
- 43:33Speaker 20: Well, I'm also really lucky because if I am mostly
- 43:36Speaker 20: known for Back to the Future, you know, sometimes it's
- 43:40Speaker 20: hard when you see somebody, you know, much older. But
- 43:43Speaker 20: because everyone's kind of used to seeing me older, it
- 43:47Speaker 20: seems to be easier for people to kind of accept
- 43:50Speaker 20: me as I get older, which is nice.
- 43:52Speaker 7: It hasn't set in very much.
- 43:53Speaker 22: It's kind of ridiculous how much you don't look your age.
- 43:58Speaker 7: And only know because I've been watching you that long.
- 44:02Speaker 7: But aside from me, just guess you know me.
- 44:06Speaker 22: My point, what I was getting to, is you're getting,
- 44:09Speaker 22: I don't know how much you've dealt with fans on
- 44:11Speaker 22: this level in the past, but you're kind of doing
- 44:13Speaker 22: a lot more of that lately anyway.
- 44:16Speaker 7: Is it a weird adjustment?
- 44:18Speaker 22: I guess you're getting that sort of thing from different fans,
- 44:21Speaker 22: of how engrossed in their lives that you were at
- 44:25Speaker 22: that point. I only know it from the other end,
- 44:28Speaker 22: so I'm kind of interested to know what it's like
- 44:30Speaker 22: on the other side.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Well, you know, it's been a long time.
- 44:34Speaker 20: I've been famous for longer than half of my life.
- 44:39Speaker 16: I even get that from co-stars, sometimes even.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Famous people, even young people.
- 44:47Speaker 20: I just saw a picture of a famous actor wearing
- 44:49Speaker 20: a Howard the Duck shirt, a young one, Andrew Garfield.
- 44:54Speaker 7: Was he doing it ironically?
- 44:56Speaker 1: No, he's a real fan. He was my daughter's in Spider-Man.
- 45:02Speaker 1: With him.
- 45:03Speaker 20: And so, you know, I've been really lucky that way.
- 45:07Speaker 1: And it's a different.
- 45:09Speaker 20: Culture now for stars because it used to be like
- 45:13Speaker 20: you try to keep.
- 45:14Speaker 1: The fans, you know, at bay.
- 45:16Speaker 20: But now with the social media and everyone kind of
- 45:18Speaker 20: competing for how many Twitter fans they have and everything
- 45:21Speaker 20: like that, and how important it is that your fans
- 45:25Speaker 20: stick up for you on the Internet.
- 45:27Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 45:27Speaker 1: It's a whole nother ball game.
- 45:29Speaker 20: The smart actors reaching out to their fans and, and, um,
- 45:33Speaker 20: you know, and embracing them and, and listening to them.
- 45:38Speaker 1: And I, that's more natural to me. I didn't like
- 45:41Speaker 1: the other way. I mean, I'm kind of.
- 45:42Speaker 20: Shy, but I really love people. So I really love
- 45:46Speaker 20: meeting them. And I really love.
- 45:49Speaker 16: As an actor staying in the real world, not just
- 45:52Speaker 16: like Richland.
- 45:53Speaker 8: Um, It makes it difficult to do any normal performances
- 45:57Speaker 8: at that point.
- 45:57Speaker 20: Well, yeah, I think you start just playing, I don't know,
- 46:02Speaker 20: I don't know.
- 46:03Speaker 7: That's all you can play anymore?
- 46:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I like to play all different kinds of characters.
- 46:07Speaker 16: And I grew up poor, so I, you know, I
- 46:13Speaker 16: don't know, I have problems.
- 46:15Speaker 1: I have respect for all.
- 46:16Speaker 16: Kinds of economic situations.
- 46:20Speaker 7: Everybody.
- 46:20Speaker 8: Yeah, I do.
- 46:21Speaker 7: We can get to that.
- 46:22Speaker 22: I usually try to trace back where it started. Were
- 46:25Speaker 22: you actually interested in film or acting that early on?
- 46:29Speaker 22: I know you started off in dancing, but did you
- 46:32Speaker 22: kind of know you were interested in that?
- 46:35Speaker 1: I think I always kind of wanted to be a performer.
- 46:40Speaker 16: I really loved being on stage.
- 46:41Speaker 11: I love....
- 46:43Speaker 1: I love the collaboration.
- 46:46Speaker 20: It's so fun to be part of a machine where
- 46:49Speaker 20: everybody's working together to create something. And I have such
- 46:52Speaker 20: respect for the costumes and the makeup and the lights
- 46:54Speaker 20: and the whole thing. And for me, not playing any
- 46:58Speaker 20: team sports, this was kind of my team sport. But
- 47:02Speaker 20: I always really wanted to be a dancer, and so
- 47:04Speaker 20: acting was kind of a surprise, which sometimes.
- 47:08Speaker 1: Does that in life. The thing you want most is
- 47:10Speaker 1: not really the thing.
- 47:10Speaker 18: You're supposed to do.
- 47:11Speaker 7: There's a turn along the way.
- 47:13Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 47:14Speaker 20: So, but, you know, it's been a really great ride
- 47:19Speaker 20: for me. I really, you know, I just enjoy meeting
- 47:22Speaker 20: people and playing different people all the time and walking
- 47:26Speaker 20: into weird worlds, you know.
- 47:28Speaker 7: Every movie is a whole new world.
- 47:31Speaker 5: Yeah, it is.
- 47:32Speaker 20: I mean, it's the ultimate mass, you know, mass-made, handmade thing.
- 47:38Speaker 20: You know, each scene you do will never be created
- 47:40Speaker 20: ever again. all these people working.
- 47:43Speaker 16: Together to make this thing. I find that really fascinating.
- 47:47Speaker 7: That's interesting, yeah.
- 47:48Speaker 22: So as you got into dancing, is that, I guess,
- 47:52Speaker 22: how did that lead to the acting?
- 47:56Speaker 7: Or not at all?
- 47:57Speaker 1: No, it did.
- 47:58Speaker 16: I mean, I was in a ballet company, and the
- 48:02Speaker 16: ballet company owed a theater.
- 48:05Speaker 1: An acting company, money.
- 48:07Speaker 15: Nice.
- 48:07Speaker 16: So the acting company said, you have to give us Leah.
- 48:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:11Speaker 7: Or we'll break your leg.
- 48:12Speaker 18: Yeah, exactly.
- 48:12Speaker 7: Which is a big threat, you know.
- 48:14Speaker 24: It is.
- 48:15Speaker 1: And it's a ballet company.
- 48:16Speaker 7: That's important, you know.
- 48:18Speaker 1: So that's how I got my.
- 48:19Speaker 20: First leading role in The Little Mermaid in Minnesota for
- 48:23Speaker 20: the Children's Theater in Minneapolis. And so I was on
- 48:26Speaker 20: loan from the dance company. So, I mean, this guy
- 48:29Speaker 20: picked me out of a ballet company to be an actress. So,
- 48:33Speaker 20: and I just, I wasn't good enough to be a ballerina.
- 48:37Speaker 22: Ballerina's hard.
- 48:38Speaker 16: It's really hard.
- 48:39Speaker 7: It's hard, but ballerina's really hard.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Yeah, because you have to have, like, the body.
- 48:44Speaker 22: To do it. And constant.
- 48:45Speaker 7: I mean, it's nothing but upkeep. It would have been
- 48:48Speaker 7: a hard life. You're better off.
- 48:51Speaker 20: I'm definitely better off. I mean, I can still do
- 48:54Speaker 20: it now. I mean, I can do it until I'm 90,
- 48:56Speaker 20: if I could live that long.
- 48:57Speaker 1: So that's a lovely thing. And it's been really.
- 49:01Speaker 16: And being a dancer was really good.
- 49:03Speaker 18: For me as an actress.
- 49:06Speaker 22: I guess to get into Back to the Future, I mean,
- 49:08Speaker 22: I guess all the regular stories have been out there.
- 49:10Speaker 22: The last few years, a lot more details have sort
- 49:12Speaker 22: of come out on the Marty switching.
- 49:14Speaker 7: You were pretty far into the project, weren't you? I
- 49:18Speaker 7: guess my question was, how did they take... you? When
- 49:21Speaker 7: did you find out, and how did they go about it?
- 49:25Speaker 16: Actually, it was a really interesting story.
- 49:27Speaker 20: My boyfriend was making a movie in Germany, so I
- 49:29Speaker 20: had flown over to see him.
- 49:31Speaker 1: And I wasn't supposed to.
- 49:33Speaker 20: And I got, like, it was the old day of
- 49:36Speaker 20: phone machines, and I called my phone machine, and it
- 49:38Speaker 20: was like.
- 49:39Speaker 18: It's Steven.
- 49:40Speaker 1: Spielberg calling for Leah.
- 49:41Speaker 12: Beep.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Bob Gale.
- 49:43Speaker 17: Beep.
- 49:44Speaker 1: Bob Zemeckis for Leah. Leah, please call me. And I
- 49:47Speaker 1: was like, oh, no.
- 49:50Speaker 15: I'm fired.
- 49:51Speaker 5: What happened? I'm in Germany.
- 49:54Speaker 20: And so it just turned out that they had fired him.
- 49:56Speaker 20: And it was really sad for me because I had
- 49:57Speaker 20: already done a movie with him. And I really loved him.
- 50:00Speaker 20: I really love him.
- 50:01Speaker 1: I mean, he's one of those people that I never see,
- 50:03Speaker 1: but I just love.
- 50:05Speaker 16: Even though, you know, it's been a long time.
- 50:08Speaker 24: So it was very sad.
- 50:09Speaker 7: Did it seem.
- 50:10Speaker 8: I mean, it's obviously very different performance-wise. I mean, did
- 50:13Speaker 8: it seem like a good adjustment in the long run
- 50:17Speaker 8: for that movie?
- 50:18Speaker 1: I guess it was, you know.
- 50:20Speaker 20: It was so interesting to see that footage with him
- 50:24Speaker 20: in it.
- 50:26Speaker 1: It was very.
- 50:29Speaker 16: Yeah, he had a much more serious tone to it.
- 50:31Speaker 20: I mean, we were coming out of the 70s and
- 50:34Speaker 20: De Niro and all that stuff, you know, us young actors.
- 50:38Speaker 16: And then, you know, Michael came from sitcom.
- 50:40Speaker 18: It was a whole different thing.
- 50:41Speaker 11: Very different.
- 50:42Speaker 7: So he was being more, you know, method.
- 50:45Speaker 20: He was.
- 50:45Speaker 18: Definitely.
- 50:47Speaker 12: Oh.
- 50:47Speaker 8: And then Space Camp is huge. I think that, you know,
- 50:51Speaker 8: Back to the Future definitely lays the groundwork. But Space
- 50:53Speaker 8: Camp really, I don't know, I think that drove it home.
- 50:56Speaker 7: Catherine was a very likable girl. So I don't know.
- 50:59Speaker 7: What was that experience like?
- 51:00Speaker 1: Well, it was really interesting doing that right after Howard
- 51:02Speaker 1: the Duck.
- 51:03Speaker 20: Because, you know, playing a rock star and then, like,
- 51:05Speaker 20: playing a really kind of straight, laced... You know, I was,
- 51:11Speaker 20: it was fun. Because I like to shed one character
- 51:13Speaker 20: and go the other way. Even in the styles of
- 51:16Speaker 20: the work that I do, I like to mix up
- 51:19Speaker 20: the styles.
- 51:20Speaker 1: And that's what I like to do. And I'm not
- 51:23Speaker 1: sure it's been good for my career, but that's how
- 51:25Speaker 1: I like to approach it. And so, yeah, Space Camp,
- 51:30Speaker 1: it took a long time. Space Camp is famous because
- 51:32Speaker 1: the first day of shooting, we were ten days behind.
- 51:34Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 51:35Speaker 16: We were so screwed. It was like no one could
- 51:38Speaker 16: figure out how to shoot it.
- 51:39Speaker 7: That whole movie ended up being kind of screwed.
- 51:41Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 51:41Speaker 7: Just timing-wise.
- 51:43Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 51:43Speaker 22: That was the worst timing ever for a movie.
- 51:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I know.
- 51:47Speaker 7: But you did mention Howard.
- 51:48Speaker 22: So what do you think going into a project entitled
- 51:52Speaker 22: Howard the Duck comes from?
- 51:54Speaker 20: Well, you know, I mean, I just come from a
- 51:56Speaker 20: project where I was supposed to be in love with
- 51:58Speaker 20: my son. So, you know, I thought it was a
- 52:00Speaker 20: good segue to be in love with a duck.
- 52:02Speaker 7: You have odd romances in your on-screen.
- 52:04Speaker 18: I do.
- 52:05Speaker 20: I really do. There's another one somewhere that's really weird.
- 52:09Speaker 20: But I really, you know, it just seemed like a
- 52:13Speaker 20: really fun, I love the idea.
- 52:15Speaker 1: I've taken a lot of chances in my career.
- 52:19Speaker 20: And people love to make fun of Howard Duck, but
- 52:22Speaker 20: I think it's kind of awesome because there's so many
- 52:24Speaker 20: bombs in the world, you know, that people still remember
- 52:26Speaker 20: this as one of the great.
- 52:28Speaker 1: Bombs of all time.
- 52:29Speaker 5: Yeah, it's epic.
- 52:30Speaker 22: In that, in its own way.
- 52:31Speaker 1: It's an epic bomb.
- 52:33Speaker 20: And, you know, it's certainly a flawed film, but half
- 52:37Speaker 20: the people that come up to me here at Scarefest
- 52:40Speaker 20: say that they loved Howard the Duck.
- 52:41Speaker 1: I mean, people cry.
- 52:43Speaker 7: No, they do.
- 52:44Speaker 15: It's great.
- 52:44Speaker 1: They love that movie.
- 52:47Speaker 8: It's one of those I, at the time, loved it.
- 52:49Speaker 8: And we recently, just like a couple years ago, did
- 52:52Speaker 8: a whole show on Howard the Duck. And I found
- 52:55Speaker 8: the flaws going back and re-watching it now, but there's
- 52:57Speaker 8: still so much of it that's kind of deep-rooted.
- 53:00Speaker 7: And I love the effects on the monster at the end.
- 53:03Speaker 22: That's held up.
- 53:04Speaker 5: Has it?
- 53:04Speaker 20: Because I have to be honest, I have not seen
- 53:07Speaker 20: it maybe.
- 53:07Speaker 22: In 20 years.
- 53:08Speaker 18: Well, it's not CG.
- 53:09Speaker 7: So I just love real, I mean, it's like play animation.
- 53:14Speaker 7: They were still doing the work.
- 53:15Speaker 22: God forbid they remake it and put CG in.
- 53:20Speaker 20: Well, it might have been better if the duck had
- 53:22Speaker 20: been animated. I think so, because the way the comic
- 53:26Speaker 20: book was, he was like this big, flappy thing, and
- 53:30Speaker 20: they couldn't get the movement right.
- 53:32Speaker 7: It's hard to fit a guy in that.
- 53:34Speaker 20: Yeah, it was just like the way that, I don't know,
- 53:38Speaker 20: the way they could never get it right.
- 53:40Speaker 8: It was just before Roger Rabbit, so, you know, they
- 53:42Speaker 8: were right on the edge of that technology.
- 53:43Speaker 22: They could have thrown that in there.
- 53:45Speaker 8: I think.
- 53:46Speaker 20: The real problem they had with that movie was, and
- 53:48Speaker 20: I kept telling them, they were so obsessed with the
- 53:51Speaker 20: mouth work.
- 53:52Speaker 16: I said, nobody thinks that's real.
- 53:55Speaker 20: And they had a string of fantastic comedians coming in.
- 53:59Speaker 16: And, you know, Jay Leno and everybody wanted to do
- 54:02Speaker 16: the voice.
- 54:03Speaker 20: And if they would have just re-edited it with jokes,
- 54:05Speaker 20: with good jokes, it would have been good.
- 54:10Speaker 8: Well, I think the one thing that came out of
- 54:11Speaker 8: our episode, that's the thing. Everybody else that had problems
- 54:14Speaker 8: with it, the one thing that came through with you,
- 54:15Speaker 8: like we actually got people phoning in and writing and
- 54:18Speaker 8: just like, oh my.
- 54:19Speaker 22: God, I was so in love with Leah.
- 54:21Speaker 8: And it's funny that you, as many problems as everybody
- 54:24Speaker 8: had with it over the years, you always kind of
- 54:26Speaker 8: came through without getting caught up in that mess.
- 54:28Speaker 5: But you know what?
- 54:30Speaker 1: Whatever does and kill you makes you stronger. And everyone
- 54:32Speaker 1: has a different opinion.
- 54:33Speaker 20: And it's very hard for me because so many people
- 54:35Speaker 20: come up to me saying that they love the movie.
- 54:38Speaker 1: And I don't want to dismiss my fans and go,
- 54:40Speaker 1: you're an idiot.
- 54:41Speaker 7: It's a bomb.
- 54:42Speaker 20: You know, it's not cool. And it's also, I spent
- 54:45Speaker 20: six months in my car. So, you know, you make
- 54:48Speaker 20: daring choices, and sometimes they work and.
- 54:50Speaker 22: Sometimes they don't.
- 54:51Speaker 8: It's still, again, it's amazing what they put together with
- 54:54Speaker 8: that and spending a million dollars on.
- 54:56Speaker 7: A duck suit.
- 54:56Speaker 8: And, I mean, it's epic just in them getting it
- 54:59Speaker 8: put together, really.
- 55:00Speaker 7: If nothing else.
- 55:01Speaker 21: Yeah.
- 55:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. And, you know, I learned so much.
- 55:05Speaker 1: I learned so much about.
- 55:06Speaker 20: Filmmaking from the mistakes that people make. Big movies are like,
- 55:11Speaker 20: they're like disasters. It's like standing on the hill in Gettysburg.
- 55:15Speaker 20: You're like, don't do it!
- 55:17Speaker 1: And they keep doing it.
- 55:19Speaker 22: And then I wanted to get to Some Kind of Wonderful,
- 55:21Speaker 22: which I, again, attached to that movie in a ridiculous way.
- 55:25Speaker 7: I think because I identified with that character.
- 55:27Speaker 22: A little too much.
- 55:27Speaker 7: So, what was that tube like? It was fine.
- 55:32Speaker 20: Some Kind of Wonderful was interesting because Eric had been
- 55:35Speaker 20: fired from Back to the Future.
- 55:36Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 55:37Speaker 20: And I had turned the movie down. And oddly, it
- 55:41Speaker 20: had a really interesting thing. The director, Howard Deutsch, quit.
- 55:45Speaker 20: Then this other director came on and changed the script
- 55:48Speaker 20: and hired Eric and Kim Delaney and Kyle McLaughlin. And
- 55:53Speaker 20: then she quit and my husband came back.
- 55:56Speaker 1: No, he's my husband. Howard Deutsch came back.
- 55:58Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 55:59Speaker 1: Fired Kim Delaney. Maybe that's why she's having the problems
- 56:01Speaker 1: she's having right now. And Eric was there, and he
- 56:06Speaker 1: was kind of misbehaving, and I was afraid he was
- 56:09Speaker 1: going to get fired again.
- 56:10Speaker 20: And Howard the Duck had just come out, and I
- 56:13Speaker 20: was traumatized.
- 56:14Speaker 16: Like, literally shivering.
- 56:16Speaker 1: And so they came and offered it to.
- 56:19Speaker 20: Me again, and I was like, I better get back
- 56:21Speaker 20: on the horse because I'll never act again.
- 56:23Speaker 1: I mean, it was, like, so awful.
- 56:25Speaker 20: And so I started the movie, and I was really insecure.
- 56:30Speaker 20: And I knew I had the not the good part.
- 56:32Speaker 20: You know, the other part was the sympathetic part.
- 56:35Speaker 22: Yeah, that one's more sympathetic, but yours has a good
- 56:37Speaker 22: amount of depth to it, too. She could be a
- 56:40Speaker 22: really bad character, and you don't play her that way.
- 56:42Speaker 20: Yeah, I'm pretty good at specializing that way. I'm trying
- 56:45Speaker 20: to make... You know, I'm kind of doing that on.
- 56:47Speaker 5: Switch to Birth right now.
- 56:48Speaker 1: But I don't know. It's a super beloved movie. It
- 56:51Speaker 1: wasn't a big hit, but it's super loved. You know,
- 56:55Speaker 1: it changed a lot, especially men.
- 56:56Speaker 5: It's interesting.
- 56:57Speaker 1: Men really love that movie.
- 56:59Speaker 22: Maybe.
- 57:00Speaker 1: to girls the.
- 57:00Speaker 20: Pop world you know but um there's a there's a
- 57:05Speaker 20: real depth to that movie that we would kind of
- 57:08Speaker 20: made fun of when we were doing it but that
- 57:10Speaker 20: people quote that movie all the time and the music
- 57:15Speaker 20: the costumes the makeup they all hold up still like
- 57:19Speaker 20: i could wear that same costume you could put that
- 57:21Speaker 20: on a kid in nickelodeon or ABC Family, and they
- 57:25Speaker 20: look cool.
- 57:25Speaker 22: It doesn't come off with the cheesy 80s vibe, for
- 57:28Speaker 22: something that was geared at teenagers, more or less. It's
- 57:31Speaker 22: funny how much that one, more than a lot.
- 57:33Speaker 7: Of them, holds up, really.
- 57:34Speaker 1: Yeah, the beginning of that movie is awesome.
- 57:37Speaker 5: Yeah, that's one of my favorite movies. It is.
- 57:40Speaker 11: It's amazing.
- 57:41Speaker 1: I know, I married the director.
- 57:42Speaker 7: And you liked it so much, you married the director.
- 57:44Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 57:45Speaker 7: Was that odd at the time?
- 57:48Speaker 20: We weren't dating, but he clearly had a crush on me.
- 57:52Speaker 20: The story plot of the painting, he had 15 paintings
- 57:57Speaker 20: painted because none of them are beautiful enough.
- 57:59Speaker 22: That's a little obsessive.
- 58:00Speaker 11: I know.
- 58:01Speaker 16: He was kind of a stalker, really.
- 58:03Speaker 7: Just saying. It's a good thing he had.
- 58:06Speaker 1: A decent job.
- 58:10Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 58:11Speaker 20: It remains a very precious movie to me because of that.
- 58:15Speaker 7: For several.
- 58:17Speaker 22: Well, I guess just to let you kind of tell
- 58:20Speaker 22: people what else you're doing, actually looking at your list,
- 58:22Speaker 22: you've got more going on right now possibly than ever.
- 58:25Speaker 7: You've got a lot of projects going.
- 58:27Speaker 1: They're all different.
- 58:28Speaker 20: I mean, I was just at the Boston Film Festival
- 58:29Speaker 20: with my movie, The Trouble with the Truth. I'm going
- 58:32Speaker 20: to the LA Film Festival and the Ojai Film Festival.
- 58:34Speaker 20: That's a two, it's mostly just two characters, three characters.
- 58:38Speaker 1: And that's a beautiful piece.
- 58:40Speaker 20: And then I have like a big, TV movie coming
- 58:44Speaker 20: on NBC in December called The Game of Life. And
- 58:49Speaker 20: then I have Switched at Birth, which is a big
- 58:51Speaker 20: hit for ABC Family. I'm starting that again. I have
- 58:56Speaker 20: a small part in J. Edgar, a Clint Eastwood movie.
- 59:00Speaker 20: And I have another movie called Thin Ice with Greg
- 59:02Speaker 20: Kinnear that's supposed to be coming out this fall, which
- 59:03Speaker 20: is a Sundance movie. So yeah, I've been working really,
- 59:07Speaker 20: I mean, everybody, it's just, it's not big like back
- 59:09Speaker 20: to the Future, but I work all the time.
- 59:11Speaker 7: It's hard to be Back to the Future all the time.
- 59:13Speaker 9: I know.
- 59:14Speaker 7: I know.
- 59:14Speaker 1: Well, luckily I had it once.
- 59:15Speaker 22: But, yeah, you've had quite a few impressive movies. It's
- 59:19Speaker 22: a good career you've got going on.
- 59:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I take chances. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.
- 59:25Speaker 1: But I'm an actor.
- 59:27Speaker 22: That's what you need.
- 59:30Speaker 24: All right.
- 59:30Speaker 7: Otherwise, I think that's about it. I want to thank
- 59:32Speaker 7: you for talking to us today.
- 59:33Speaker 1: Thank you so much. I just like him around.
- 59:36Speaker 20: I don't want to believe.

- 1:01:00Speaker 7: I'm dead.
- 1:01:01Speaker 5: They're all messed up.
- 1:01:57Speaker 21: Don't pay, don't pay Grand Marnier, Marnier Oh, Jolene, Jolene, Corbeau, yeah.
- 1:02:24Speaker 28: What you want, what you want is a bad paycheck.
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: Paycheck.
- 1:02:29Speaker 15: You can get it if you want it. Don't lose
- 1:02:34Speaker 15: it once.
- 1:02:34Speaker 7: You got it.
- 1:02:35Speaker 28: You've got to do it like you can get it.
- 1:02:39Speaker 15: For good is love, baby.
- 1:02:40Speaker 21: When you can't afford it, you know it don't come cheap.
- 1:02:45Speaker 28: You've got to find your feet.
- 1:02:57Speaker 22: All right, so we've left the convention. We are now
- 1:02:59Speaker 22: at the Parkette Drive-In in lovely Lexington, Kentucky. So a traditional,
- 1:03:06Speaker 22: old-school 50s drive-in, although they did have video games and pinball.
- 1:03:09Speaker 6: That's awesome.
- 1:03:10Speaker 22: I'm not sure if that's exactly. I don't think they
- 1:03:12Speaker 22: had burger time in the 50s diners. But otherwise, they
- 1:03:15Speaker 22: were pretty damn awesome. Okay, Misty, what's your wrap-up?
- 1:03:18Speaker 18: Pretty fucking awesome. My hamburger's quite tasty.
- 1:03:22Speaker 22: Is our favorite part so far that we saw on
- 1:03:25Speaker 22: the menu, they actually serve fried bologna. So we sent
- 1:03:29Speaker 22: a picture to Randy.
- 1:03:31Speaker 18: He was pretty excited about it from what I understand.
- 1:03:32Speaker 22: Yeah, really excited.
- 1:03:35Speaker 11: Yum.
- 1:03:36Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 1:03:36Speaker 25: I wouldn't... I'm not even sure I'd fully get behind
- 1:03:40Speaker 25: fried bologna.
- 1:03:41Speaker 10: I mean, I've eaten it before. But it was just
- 1:03:44Speaker 10: because that's all that Bob had at his house. And
- 1:03:47Speaker 10: he's kind of an old school guy. That's all he
- 1:03:49Speaker 10: eats is fried bologna.
- 1:03:50Speaker 11: Yeah, my grandma always used to make stuff like fried
- 1:03:52Speaker 11: bologna sandwiches when he went to order Ford.
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: It's a staple of old guys for some reason.
- 1:03:57Speaker 10: Fried bologna with mayonnaise and mustard.
- 1:03:59Speaker 22: Old guys and kids, because everybody else I also know
- 1:04:02Speaker 22: ate it as a kid. But nobody in the middle
- 1:04:04Speaker 22: area ever, because I remember eating it as a kid.
- 1:04:06Speaker 10: Because you grow out of that stage. You're like, good God,
- 1:04:09Speaker 10: that was disgusting.
- 1:04:10Speaker 22: What was I doing?
- 1:04:11Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:04:12Speaker 22: Thanks mom but then there's still.
- 1:04:14Speaker 10: Old guys that are like there's nothing wrong with bologna
- 1:04:16Speaker 10: bologna is good.
- 1:04:17Speaker 22: For you you know although i do think it was
- 1:04:19Speaker 22: yeah my dad might have been the one passing along
- 1:04:21Speaker 22: so he might have been the one making those fried
- 1:04:23Speaker 22: bologna sandwiches i don't remember but i do remember eating
- 1:04:26Speaker 22: them as a kid and then i again i don't
- 1:04:29Speaker 22: think i'd had them until i busted it back out
- 1:04:31Speaker 22: at the oscar party and then it creeped the hell
- 1:04:33Speaker 22: out of randy so Now it's just a running joke.
- 1:04:36Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:04:37Speaker 10: Now, fried spam sandwiches.
- 1:04:39Speaker 18: Oh, that's hella good.
- 1:04:40Speaker 10: Yeah, those are good.
- 1:04:41Speaker 22: Those are high-quality sandwiches.
- 1:04:43Speaker 10: Spam-wages.
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: Oh, Lord.
- 1:04:45Speaker 11: But I have to say that, all in all, the
- 1:04:48Speaker 11: Parkette food was pretty delicious.
- 1:04:49Speaker 18: It was.
- 1:04:50Speaker 22: It was very good.
- 1:04:51Speaker 18: It was right up there with Super Dogs, I would say.
- 1:04:52Speaker 25: Yeah, I had a Chicago-style hot dog, which, for some reason,
- 1:04:55Speaker 25: wherever I go, I gotta get a Chicago-style hot dog.
- 1:04:58Speaker 18: We are not in Chicago.
- 1:04:59Speaker 10: We're not in Chicago at all.
- 1:05:00Speaker 22: Even when we're in Indiana.
- 1:05:02Speaker 10: I gotta get a Chicago-style hot dog. But, uh, Yeah,
- 1:05:05Speaker 10: it was good. Granted, it wasn't Super Dogs, but.
- 1:05:09Speaker 18: It was really close.
- 1:05:09Speaker 22: It was pretty close.
- 1:05:10Speaker 10: Yeah, if I close my eyes, it could almost be
- 1:05:12Speaker 10: Super Dogs, with the exception of.
- 1:05:14Speaker 18: Are you tasting with your eyeballs?
- 1:05:15Speaker 10: With the exception of, they didn't have pickled tomatoes. And
- 1:05:19Speaker 10: that's the only thing.
- 1:05:21Speaker 25: Super Dogs has the little green pickled tomatoes, and I
- 1:05:23Speaker 25: could eat the hell out of those.
- 1:05:25Speaker 22: Did they have pickled cauliflower?
- 1:05:26Speaker 10: No, they didn't have pickled cauliflower.
- 1:05:28Speaker 22: As we saw earlier.
- 1:05:29Speaker 18: Get out of the Peddler's Mall.
- 1:05:30Speaker 7: Do you want to cover the other stop we made
- 1:05:32Speaker 7: on the way here?
- 1:05:33Speaker 18: It was pretty rowdy.
- 1:05:37Speaker 22: Yikes. Yeah, across the street from here, actually, is a
- 1:05:41Speaker 22: peddler's mall, which, as most of those, is pretty ghetto.
- 1:05:45Speaker 22: But you find some awesome stuff.
- 1:05:47Speaker 10: We find a lot of really cool things.
- 1:05:49Speaker 11: I found some trading cards. I found a complete set
- 1:05:51Speaker 11: of Phantom. You know what I mean?
- 1:05:53Speaker 18: The Phantom.
- 1:05:53Speaker 22: The Phantom.
- 1:05:54Speaker 18: The Phantom.
- 1:05:55Speaker 10: Starring Billy Zane. And Catherine Zeta-Jones.
- 1:05:58Speaker 11: And I also bought a complete set of Jaws 3D
- 1:06:03Speaker 11: trading cards, which I'm pretty excited about.
- 1:06:05Speaker 22: Which has Lea Thompson in it, thank God.
- 1:06:07Speaker 11: And I also bought a pretty awesome lamp, and I
- 1:06:10Speaker 11: bought a book called The Beastmaster, which is in no
- 1:06:12Speaker 11: relation to the Mark Singer Beastmaster, but still looks fucking
- 1:06:15Speaker 11: awesome nonetheless. It's a fucking rocket ship involved. Yeah. Which,
- 1:06:19Speaker 11: that just would be awesome if they had Beastmaster 4,
- 1:06:22Speaker 11: or Dargo's the Space, or something.
- 1:06:24Speaker 22: It's like an old, well, I mean, they already traveled
- 1:06:25Speaker 22: through time, for God's sakes. But, no, it's, yeah, it's
- 1:06:28Speaker 22: like old-school pulp-style, like, sci-fi... But, yeah, it's the Beastmaster,
- 1:06:32Speaker 22: which if you didn't buy it, I was going to
- 1:06:34Speaker 22: buy it because it was awesome either way.
- 1:06:35Speaker 18: It was pretty awesome.
- 1:06:36Speaker 25: I think I got a couple comic books from the
- 1:06:38Speaker 25: 60s called the Drag Racing comic books. And a lot
- 1:06:43Speaker 25: of the artwork and illustration in there. I haven't read
- 1:06:46Speaker 25: through it completely, but I know Ed Roth did some
- 1:06:48Speaker 25: of it, so that's kind of cool.
- 1:06:49Speaker 9: Nice.
- 1:06:51Speaker 22: I better grab mine. I have to read it off.
- 1:06:53Speaker 8: Hold on.
- 1:06:54Speaker 6: Let's see.
- 1:06:55Speaker 18: Both of which I picked out.
- 1:06:57Speaker 7: Yeah, I think you ID'd at least.
- 1:06:59Speaker 22: You spotted the ones that I got. The first one
- 1:07:01Speaker 22: is Popular Photography Magazine from 1948, the November issue, if
- 1:07:06Speaker 22: you've got a stack.
- 1:07:07Speaker 6: Up at home.
- 1:07:08Speaker 22: Yeah, basically, it's awesome anyway, just old magazines in general
- 1:07:11Speaker 22: is awesome. But this one in particular has an interview
- 1:07:16Speaker 22: with Alfred Hitchcock on my most exciting picture, which was rope.
- 1:07:20Speaker 22: And there are some behind-the-scenes pictures of him shooting rope.
- 1:07:23Speaker 22: So it looks pretty awesome. And if you flip to
- 1:07:26Speaker 22: this one page, there's a naked face.
- 1:07:28Speaker 18: One thing I don't like about.
- 1:07:29Speaker 22: Who's naked?
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: Hold on.
- 1:07:30Speaker 18: One thing I don't like about Park Heath, I'm going
- 1:07:31Speaker 18: to tell you right now, their ice is too small.
- 1:07:33Speaker 18: It keeps getting sucked up in my straw, and I
- 1:07:34Speaker 18: keep wondering what the hell I'm biting into. I don't
- 1:07:36Speaker 18: like my drink to have a texture.
- 1:07:38Speaker 8: Boobies.
- 1:07:38Speaker 5: I know, right?
- 1:07:39Speaker 16: Boobies.
- 1:07:39Speaker 22: 1948 boobies, by the way.
- 1:07:41Speaker 11: I was kind of surprised. I was extremely surprised.
- 1:07:43Speaker 18: That's not regular.
- 1:07:43Speaker 5: It's art.
- 1:07:45Speaker 10: You remember the art study cards I've got?
- 1:07:48Speaker 22: She's out in the waves. Now, if that wave wasn't
- 1:07:50Speaker 22: in the way, we'd be getting full frontal hair.
- 1:07:52Speaker 18: We'd be getting all kinds of frontal hair.
- 1:07:53Speaker 22: I'm telling you.
- 1:07:54Speaker 11: Mm-hmm.
- 1:07:55Speaker 22: It'd be extra arty then. But yeah, so I got the...
- 1:07:58Speaker 22: That's timing. The Alfred Hitchcock interview from 1948. And then this,
- 1:08:03Speaker 22: I don't know what this round vinyl disc is.
- 1:08:06Speaker 18: Is it like a frisbee?
- 1:08:08Speaker 22: I think it is. A frisbee with a hole in
- 1:08:10Speaker 22: the middle. But it is.
- 1:08:11Speaker 18: It's more aerodynamic.
- 1:08:13Speaker 22: It is a special vinyl copy of music inspired by,
- 1:08:18Speaker 22: really small, Star Wars and other galactic funk... By Mecco,
- 1:08:24Speaker 22: which if I remember correctly, Mecco is the one that
- 1:08:27Speaker 22: put out the little 45-size single that I had as
- 1:08:31Speaker 22: a kid. The front side, the A-side, was the Cantina
- 1:08:36Speaker 22: Band song. as it normally was but the b-side was
- 1:08:40Speaker 22: a weird disco version of it that frightened me even
- 1:08:43Speaker 22: as a child and the only thing more frightening is
- 1:08:45Speaker 22: the artwork how would you describe this uh fucking awesome
- 1:08:48Speaker 22: rodriguez uh artwork we've got going on in this uh
- 1:08:51Speaker 22: star wars too.
- 1:08:52Speaker 11: Much boogie to handle they got boogie in their space.
- 1:08:55Speaker 5: Pants yeah it's a guy and a girl um that
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: he's wearing some sort of purple outer space.
- 1:09:01Speaker 18: Suit you're gonna paste it you're gonna put this on.
- 1:09:03Speaker 22: I'm gonna have to put this up on the uh
- 1:09:05Speaker 22: i'm gonna have to make a special added uh photo
- 1:09:07Speaker 22: because yeah it's her in an orange space suit with
- 1:09:10Speaker 22: a she's got the fishbowl helmet going on on top
- 1:09:13Speaker 22: and He's just got some sort of like old school
- 1:09:16Speaker 22: Captain America.
- 1:09:17Speaker 10: Flash Gordon.
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:09:19Speaker 22: I don't know what his outfit is. But they are
- 1:09:21Speaker 22: totally boogieing and bumping their parts.
- 1:09:24Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:09:24Speaker 22: There's some sort of. They're doing the butt. They're doing something.
- 1:09:28Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:09:29Speaker 22: In front of a big orange planet with giant rocket
- 1:09:31Speaker 22: ships going behind them. Like old school Flash Gordon rocket ships.
- 1:09:34Speaker 22: It's pretty freaking awesome.
- 1:09:36Speaker 18: It's spectacular.
- 1:09:38Speaker 22: And I can only imagine everything on there is terrible music.
- 1:09:42Speaker 18: Everything on here is funk-filled.
- 1:09:44Speaker 10: It's funkalicious.
- 1:09:45Speaker 22: It's funky. Oh, right. Other Galactic Funk. That's all it
- 1:09:50Speaker 22: says on side two, by the way. Other Galactic Funk.
- 1:09:54Speaker 11: I wish to acknowledge the unfailing cooperation of the Galactic Council.
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: What is that?
- 1:10:02Speaker 6: Why does it say that?
- 1:10:04Speaker 18: Hold on.
- 1:10:04Speaker 11: The logistics of teleporting all the musicians from their home planets,
- 1:10:09Speaker 11: the translating computers, the laser engineers, and the photon system
- 1:10:13Speaker 11: courtesy of Telcon PZ88. 4.
- 1:10:18Speaker 18: Earth Rep Tony Blacca, Blacca?
- 1:10:20Speaker 13: Whatever.
- 1:10:21Speaker 11: I wish to acknowledge the unfailing cooperation of the Galactic Council,
- 1:10:24Speaker 11: in particular Neil Bogart, Irv Beigel, and Jimmy Litter.
- 1:10:28Speaker 18: That's awesome!
- 1:10:31Speaker 22: That is too much bullshit to put on one album. craziness. So,
- 1:10:37Speaker 22: those were our.
- 1:10:37Speaker 11: The one that's inside, too, is just other galactic funk.
- 1:10:40Speaker 22: I told you, that's awesome. Those were our finds for
- 1:10:43Speaker 22: the day. Anything else convention-related, other than the fact that
- 1:10:47Speaker 22: Leah Thompson was standing next to me just a few
- 1:10:49Speaker 22: short hours ago.
- 1:10:50Speaker 11: I wanted to punch douchebag into the face. I saw him,
- 1:10:53Speaker 11: and boyfriend was getting aggravated at me, because I couldn't
- 1:10:56Speaker 11: hold him back by anger.
- 1:10:57Speaker 10: I wasn't getting aggravated, it's just.
- 1:10:59Speaker 22: Go ahead and discuss the most aggravating thing, which was
- 1:11:01Speaker 22: the line at his table.
- 1:11:03Speaker 18: There was more of a line at his table than
- 1:11:06Speaker 18: anybody else's.
- 1:11:07Speaker 22: That's ridiculous.
- 1:11:08Speaker 18: And I want to talk about.
- 1:11:09Speaker 11: For a second that I got high-fived by Lance Henriksen
- 1:11:12Speaker 11: when I suggested that they write a pop-up book because
- 1:11:14Speaker 11: then I would totally read it because his book.
- 1:11:17Speaker 18: Didn't have enough pictures.
- 1:11:19Speaker 11: We were waiting there while Brian was getting it signed.
- 1:11:22Speaker 11: I'm like, does it have any pictures? And he was like, yeah.
- 1:11:26Speaker 11: And so the chick was trying to find them.
- 1:11:27Speaker 18: There was like one. I'm like, dude, for serious.
- 1:11:29Speaker 10: Some artwork done by him.
- 1:11:31Speaker 22: There's a bunch of original artwork of different movies that
- 1:11:34Speaker 22: he was in by different artists. So it does have
- 1:11:36Speaker 22: some really cool stuff in it. None of which, sadly
- 1:11:39Speaker 22: to say, was pop-up.
- 1:11:40Speaker 11: I told him that if he'd write a pop-up book,
- 1:11:41Speaker 11: I would totally get it. And he said it made
- 1:11:44Speaker 11: libraries more cool or something.
- 1:11:46Speaker 18: I don't remember what he said.
- 1:11:47Speaker 22: He got pretty excited when you mentioned the pop-up book.
- 1:11:49Speaker 18: I did. I tried to high-five over that shit.
- 1:11:53Speaker 22: Lance was awesome. Leah was awesome. That's most of who
- 1:11:57Speaker 22: I hung out with so far today.
- 1:12:00Speaker 18: Yep.
- 1:12:01Speaker 22: Anything else on the convention?
- 1:12:02Speaker 11: I feel sorry for Billy. Nobody cared about Billy. He
- 1:12:09Speaker 11: sat there playing games on his iPhone the whole time.
- 1:12:11Speaker 7: We do.
- 1:12:12Speaker 22: Billy was on our first episode.
- 1:12:15Speaker 18: Zach Galligan?
- 1:12:15Speaker 22: Yeah, Zach.
- 1:12:17Speaker 18: Gallop? Galligan?
- 1:12:18Speaker 7: Galligan, yeah.
- 1:12:18Speaker 22: Zach Galligan.
- 1:12:19Speaker 18: That's what I said.
- 1:12:20Speaker 22: I did it wrong. Zach Galligan, Billy from Gremlins, which
- 1:12:24Speaker 22: I was trying to get a hold of him and
- 1:12:26Speaker 22: we could have invited him to sit in with us
- 1:12:28Speaker 22: and talk about He could.
- 1:12:29Speaker 18: Have came and got a fried bologna sandwich.
- 1:12:31Speaker 5: He could have had a fried bologna sandwich, but yeah
- 1:12:34Speaker 5: he was our first guest on our official first episode.
- 1:12:37Speaker 18: He had some people at his table, just not near enough.
- 1:12:40Speaker 5: I felt bad for him.
- 1:12:41Speaker 22: People are slacking off. They should really support Billy a
- 1:12:43Speaker 22: little bit.
- 1:12:43Speaker 11: I wanted to get Phyllis Rose's autograph, but They didn't
- 1:12:47Speaker 11: have any pictures of the scene in Sleepaway Camp with
- 1:12:50Speaker 11: her making that face.
- 1:12:51Speaker 22: The scene, the face. You know what she's talking about.
- 1:12:53Speaker 18: If you're not, why are you going to bother and
- 1:12:55Speaker 18: not have that? She had one picture from Sleepaway Camp. Bitch,
- 1:12:59Speaker 18: that's all anybody knows you from.
- 1:13:01Speaker 22: It really does seem like bad planning on her part.
- 1:13:03Speaker 22: I don't know.
- 1:13:04Speaker 24: She had, what, two.
- 1:13:05Speaker 18: Sleepaway Camp posters. But I wanted the picture with the face.
- 1:13:10Speaker 22: Yeah, the face would have pushed it over the edge,
- 1:13:12Speaker 22: I'm telling you.
- 1:13:13Speaker 18: But no.
- 1:13:14Speaker 11: No.
- 1:13:14Speaker 18: There wasn't even any at any other booth.
- 1:13:16Speaker 11: Usually there's one booth that sells a bunch of photos
- 1:13:18Speaker 11: so they can make more money off people.
- 1:13:20Speaker 8: No.
- 1:13:21Speaker 20: Fuckers.
- 1:13:22Speaker 22: I don't know.
- 1:13:23Speaker 6: Makes no sense to me.
- 1:13:24Speaker 22: I don't care. I stood next to Leah Thompson.
- 1:13:27Speaker 18: She touched you.
- 1:13:28Speaker 22: She touched me.
- 1:13:30Speaker 18: And she signed your picture that you are her density.
- 1:13:32Speaker 22: I am, in fact.
- 1:13:34Speaker 7: Screw you guys.
- 1:13:36Speaker 22: I am her density.
- 1:13:37Speaker 18: That's awesome.
- 1:13:40Speaker 22: And I talked her out of signing the other photo.
- 1:13:43Speaker 22: Good duck. her beverly photo she was like i should
- 1:13:47Speaker 22: have signed it that and i'm shaking my head no
- 1:13:48Speaker 22: no no don't do don't don't do that really it's
- 1:13:51Speaker 22: just not a good idea no not so much.
- 1:13:52Speaker 19: But she was pretty cute she's ridiculously cute her dress
- 1:13:56Speaker 19: was bright her dress was bright to balance out the
- 1:13:58Speaker 19: fact that 99.9 of those motherfuckers there were wearing black
- 1:14:01Speaker 19: t-shirts i.
- 1:14:02Speaker 22: Know i was one of them so.
- 1:14:04Speaker 18: Hey i'm wearing a tank top i'm wearing a black.
- 1:14:08Speaker 22: I'm telling you that's what we do We know our crowd.
- 1:14:10Speaker 8: Shit.
- 1:14:11Speaker 11: Dude, we all kind of match.
- 1:14:12Speaker 18: We're all wearing black shirts, dark jeans.
- 1:14:15Speaker 5: I got a plaid shirt on.
- 1:14:17Speaker 22: I got a plaid shirt.
- 1:14:18Speaker 14: White.
- 1:14:19Speaker 22: Kind of brownish and gray. We're branching out.
- 1:14:22Speaker 18: The basic essentials of what we're wearing is kind of
- 1:14:24Speaker 18: the same.
- 1:14:25Speaker 22: We know we're horror geeks. We're going to the Horror
- 1:14:27Speaker 22: Geek Convention. We know what we're doing.
- 1:14:28Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:14:29Speaker 5: All right.

- 1:14:35Speaker 22: We will take a break and be back with this
- 1:14:37Speaker 22: week's movie.
- 1:14:38Speaker 20: Da-da-da-da.

- 1:17:25Speaker 6: our frequent updates. That's moviemeltdown.com.
- 1:17:30Speaker 21: It's part of your problem, you know, you haven't seen
- 1:17:38Speaker 21: enough movies.
- 1:17:39Speaker 5: All of life's riddles are answered in the movies.
- 1:17:42Speaker 13: And now, on with the show.
- 1:17:48Speaker 10: It's time for SOFA THEATRE!
- 1:17:51Speaker 5: Urgent call for the Noé base.
- 1:17:53Speaker 20: My friend Noé has been left by VAL.
- 1:17:55Speaker 15: We are refugees in the middle of the forest in
- 1:17:59Speaker 15: the Grand Batis.
- 1:17:59Speaker 24: We are not finished! Noé base, over!
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: The plague is.
- 1:18:04Speaker 25: Completely healed.
- 1:18:10Speaker 24: How much time do I have.
- 1:18:13Speaker 5: Left?
- 1:18:18Speaker 11: Bonjour.
- 1:18:18Speaker 6: Don't let it become one of those days.
- 1:18:47Speaker 5: Pump, pump, pump inside your head.
- 1:19:02Speaker 10: Alright, we're back.
- 1:19:09Speaker 5: We are once again on the road.
- 1:19:11Speaker 8: Attempting to do the movie and yet not die. Although
- 1:19:15Speaker 8: Misty taking photos the entire time while we're driving and recording. Yeah,
- 1:19:21Speaker 8: this may be the evidence that they pull out of
- 1:19:24Speaker 8: the wreckage that they can try to piece together what happened.
- 1:19:27Speaker 5: After the fire. We're still alive so far.
- 1:19:30Speaker 8: Hopefully this recorder is like a black box and will
- 1:19:32Speaker 8: be the only thing that survives the fiery approach.
- 1:19:34Speaker 5: I'm a good driver.
- 1:19:37Speaker 8: Until yeah until the flash goes off in your eyes
- 1:19:41Speaker 8: all right well assuming we make it through we'll uh
- 1:19:45Speaker 8: go ahead and run down the movie so all right
- 1:19:48Speaker 8: so it's time for moving on sofa theater feature on
- 1:19:51Speaker 8: the road obviously this week's sofa theater feature is mutants let's.
- 1:19:56Speaker 5: Be backseat theater um if we were in the drive-in
- 1:20:00Speaker 5: i guess now we're like traveling down the road. I
- 1:20:04Speaker 5: had the same question when we were in Chicago in bed.
- 1:20:06Speaker 8: But I said, it's when you watch it at home, which,
- 1:20:09Speaker 8: didn't you watch it at home?
- 1:20:10Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:20:11Speaker 5: We were just talking about it on the road. Oh, okay, yeah.
- 1:20:14Speaker 5: This week's Super Theta feature is Mutants. The year is 2009.
- 1:20:18Speaker 8: Director Robert Morley, which again, if you look it up
- 1:20:22Speaker 8: on IMDb, they have it wrong.
- 1:20:24Speaker 5: So if you go looking for this guy.
- 1:20:26Speaker 8: According to the actual poster and trailer, it's Morley with
- 1:20:30Speaker 8: a Y.
- 1:20:31Speaker 5: If you look it up on IMDb, they have a
- 1:20:32Speaker 5: T at the end. So, once again, never wrong IMDb. Never.
- 1:20:38Speaker 5: The plot, according to IMDb, there isn't one. Yeah, I
- 1:20:42Speaker 5: saw that.
- 1:20:43Speaker 8: Once again, IMDb being a little laxed on their details.
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: They don't give a shit about porn, too. No, no.
- 1:20:50Speaker 8: So, this, uh, yeah, as she said, this is a
- 1:20:52Speaker 8: foreign film, so we're pretty fancy.
- 1:20:56Speaker 5: We watched a French movie. We are fancy.
- 1:21:00Speaker 8: Okay, so, in looking a little further, there is a
- 1:21:03Speaker 8: plot on Wikipedia for some reason, so.
- 1:21:06Speaker 5: The wiki's got every damn thing. Well, it's also on
- 1:21:08Speaker 5: your Netflix, but I just went with the Wikipedia.
- 1:21:10Speaker 8: So, the plot, according to Wikipedia this week, A virus
- 1:21:14Speaker 8: has transformed the vast majority of humanity into bloodthirsty zombie creatures.
- 1:21:20Speaker 8: Marco and Sonia are a young couple fleeing the mutants
- 1:21:23Speaker 8: and trying to fight their way.
- 1:21:25Speaker 5: Into a military... They weren't really that young, by the way. No,
- 1:21:28Speaker 5: they weren't. Especially him. Compared to, like, really old people.
- 1:21:33Speaker 5: They had to have been in their, like, upper 30s. Mid-upper.
- 1:21:38Speaker 5: A semi-young couple fleeing the mutants.
- 1:21:41Speaker 8: There we go.
- 1:21:42Speaker 5: Trying to fight their way to a military base.
- 1:21:44Speaker 8: But when Marco himself becomes infected in an attack, the
- 1:21:47Speaker 8: pregnant Sonia must fight the worst enemy, the man she loves.
- 1:21:53Speaker 5: All right, so that is the.
- 1:21:56Speaker 8: French film Mutants. So with that, even though that kind
- 1:22:00Speaker 8: of already throws out some spoilers.
- 1:22:02Speaker 5: Spoiler alert, because... We will continue to spoil the hell
- 1:22:05Speaker 5: out of this movie, so... Spoiler alert, there are mutants
- 1:22:07Speaker 5: in this movie. You have been warned. You can't. Where
- 1:22:11Speaker 5: would you like to begin? I kind of like this movie.
- 1:22:13Speaker 5: I ain't gonna lie.
- 1:22:14Speaker 17: It kind of reminded me of, like, a bunch of
- 1:22:16Speaker 17: other movies that are kind of like this, but this
- 1:22:18Speaker 17: one was.
- 1:22:19Speaker 5: I liked it better. It seems like it did a
- 1:22:21Speaker 5: lot of stuff better. I don't know.
- 1:22:23Speaker 12: I'd try to compare it to Stateland. There was no
- 1:22:26Speaker 12: uplifting parts in this movie at all.
- 1:22:28Speaker 5: It was all dark. It was all realistic. And it
- 1:22:31Speaker 5: was all very, very grim. Yeah, pretty much. But, like,
- 1:22:35Speaker 5: from the beginning, it throws you right into the middle
- 1:22:38Speaker 5: of this world, and... You get fucking blindsided. Yeah, and
- 1:22:42Speaker 5: like Stakeland, there is no safe place, it seems like.
- 1:22:47Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:22:48Speaker 5: But yeah, you said you liked it better than Stakeland.
- 1:22:51Speaker 5: I liked it better than Stakeland. Stakeland just hit a
- 1:22:53Speaker 5: lull in the middle. It was just like.
- 1:22:55Speaker 23: It did at a couple points where it kind of
- 1:22:57Speaker 23: got slow. This one never seemed like it ever got slow. See,
- 1:23:01Speaker 23: I have exactly the opposite take on that.
- 1:23:03Speaker 12: Really?
- 1:23:04Speaker 8: I'm sitting there watching and I'm like, and I kind
- 1:23:06Speaker 8: of like the setup. Like, the beginning's kind of cool
- 1:23:08Speaker 8: and it does throw you.
- 1:23:09Speaker 5: Oh, the opening. The opening's The opening's awesome, and then, like.
- 1:23:12Speaker 17: I don't remember anything, but that girl in the ambulance
- 1:23:15Speaker 17: with the girl standing in the road, and the ambulance
- 1:23:17Speaker 17: all packed out of nowhere.
- 1:23:18Speaker 5: Yeah, I know. I was like, holy shit! I thought
- 1:23:21Speaker 5: they were gonna pick her up.
- 1:23:22Speaker 8: I mean, it definitely has a hell of a kickoff there,
- 1:23:25Speaker 8: and then as it gets into it, like, to me,
- 1:23:27Speaker 8: that whole middle section is just really slow. I mean,
- 1:23:33Speaker 8: by the end, once the, you know, you get to
- 1:23:35Speaker 8: those last 20 minutes or so, it picks up, and
- 1:23:37Speaker 8: it becomes a totally different kind of pace, but.
- 1:23:40Speaker 5: I don't know. To me, it's... And even more than.
- 1:23:42Speaker 22: I don't know.
- 1:23:43Speaker 5: I think I still like Stakeland a little better. Do
- 1:23:45Speaker 5: you like Stakeland because it's got Daniel? No. I mean,
- 1:23:49Speaker 5: she's not even in it a ton. I think I just.
- 1:23:52Speaker 8: I think Stakeland sort of fleshes things out a little better,
- 1:23:55Speaker 8: where this one.
- 1:23:57Speaker 5: It just seems like they never even try to. Like,
- 1:23:59Speaker 5: it's okay, we're in this building, and then we just
- 1:24:01Speaker 5: sit in this building.
- 1:24:02Speaker 8: For the rest of the movie. So, I don't know.
- 1:24:05Speaker 8: I guess, but I don't know. I think I had
- 1:24:08Speaker 8: more issues with it. But go ahead with what you
- 1:24:10Speaker 8: liked about it.
- 1:24:11Speaker 5: I liked the feel of the movie. I liked the visuals.
- 1:24:15Speaker 5: The cinematography of this movie was beautiful.
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: I'll give you that.
- 1:24:20Speaker 5: Almost every shot was beautiful.
- 1:24:23Speaker 17: Everything about the scenery, the location, the building they were in,
- 1:24:29Speaker 17: the way.
- 1:24:29Speaker 5: It was shot was beautiful. Everything about it.
- 1:24:32Speaker 17: Was, as far as visuals, that's why I liked it
- 1:24:35Speaker 17: better than I liked stapling it.
- 1:24:37Speaker 5: To me, it was more visually appealing. I'll give you
- 1:24:39Speaker 5: that one. Yeah. At Stakeland, they did a competent job.
- 1:24:44Speaker 8: It looks okay, but they don't go out of their
- 1:24:46Speaker 8: way to make everything look really good.
- 1:24:48Speaker 5: This one, I will say, visually is impressive. And that's
- 1:24:51Speaker 5: why it held my attention more and it didn't seem
- 1:24:53Speaker 5: boring to me because I was so watching out for
- 1:24:56Speaker 5: all the shots that were amazing to me. Yeah, which
- 1:24:59Speaker 5: there are a lot.
- 1:25:00Speaker 8: I mean, it's, like I said, from the get-go and
- 1:25:03Speaker 8: the first opening scene, In that first opening scene, that's
- 1:25:06Speaker 8: what I noted.
- 1:25:07Speaker 5: It was like, this is really artistic. And it's like
- 1:25:10Speaker 5: really taking.
- 1:25:11Speaker 8: It's time and making sure that it works in all
- 1:25:13Speaker 8: this artistic.
- 1:25:15Speaker 5: You know, everything is... It's not a bullshit artsy-fartsy kind
- 1:25:17Speaker 5: of way. Well, again, I mean, it's French. It could
- 1:25:20Speaker 5: very easily fall into that.
- 1:25:21Speaker 8: But when it's populated with a weird virus zombie plot,
- 1:25:24Speaker 8: you know, it.
- 1:25:25Speaker 5: Definitely comes back to old-school horror and gross out. And,
- 1:25:28Speaker 5: you know, it comes back to... Well, there's a shit
- 1:25:30Speaker 5: ton of splatter. Yeah, there's some gross stuff going on
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: in this.
- 1:25:33Speaker 8: So it doesn't surprise me that, you know, it still
- 1:25:36Speaker 8: sort of doesn't lose itself in the artsiness of it.
- 1:25:39Speaker 14: But.
- 1:25:39Speaker 5: At the same time, visually, it is really amazing to
- 1:25:42Speaker 5: look at. I gotta say, I was confused by the
- 1:25:46Speaker 5: black chick. I thought it was a dude. Yeah, okay,
- 1:25:49Speaker 5: I'm glad it wasn't just me. When she talked, she
- 1:25:52Speaker 5: sounded like a dude. And I'm like, she looks all feminine.
- 1:25:57Speaker 5: Or not. I was just kind of like... She had
- 1:25:59Speaker 5: a very girly face. She had a very feminine face.
- 1:26:02Speaker 5: But when she talked... Yeah, when she got out of the.
- 1:26:07Speaker 5: Ambulance.
- 1:26:07Speaker 12: Out of the ambulance, I was like, wow, man, those
- 1:26:09Speaker 12: French military uniforms aren't very flattering on their ass, are they?
- 1:26:13Speaker 12: This guy's got, like, childbearing hips. He was a chick, and.
- 1:26:18Speaker 5: I was like, oh. I wouldn't have known if they
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: hadn't said, you know, referred to her as she. I
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: was questioning it, and thankfully, then they said she, and
- 1:26:25Speaker 5: I was like, oh, okay, good. Yeah, I was questioning it. Yeah,
- 1:26:29Speaker 5: I was still sitting there going, because, I mean, it's
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: not in her favor. If she was wearing, I mean.
- 1:26:34Speaker 8: Her hair is done in the way that both genders
- 1:26:36Speaker 8: wear it, so that didn't help. Again, I don't know
- 1:26:40Speaker 8: why in French it somehow made it harder to tell
- 1:26:43Speaker 8: from what she was saying.
- 1:26:44Speaker 5: Dude, she had a manly voice. But she had a
- 1:26:45Speaker 5: manly voice on top of that.
- 1:26:46Speaker 8: And then she's wearing, like, body armor, basically, so you
- 1:26:49Speaker 8: really can't see, other than the childbearing hips, you.
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: Can't see much else. Her voice was bigger than Jay's was. Yeah,
- 1:26:54Speaker 5: I know.
- 1:26:55Speaker 8: So, yeah, she was very manly. That wasn't really a...
- 1:26:58Speaker 8: I don't know, if they were trying to convey... I mean,
- 1:27:00Speaker 8: I don't know why you would put a woman in
- 1:27:02Speaker 8: that role and then not just go ahead and make
- 1:27:03Speaker 8: it a woman. Like, if you're going to put that
- 1:27:05Speaker 8: someone that manly in there, just go.
- 1:27:06Speaker 5: Ahead and get a man. You know, but still, I mean,
- 1:27:09Speaker 5: all the characters were very, they're very believable. There were no, like... No,
- 1:27:14Speaker 5: she was good, yeah.
- 1:27:15Speaker 23: Yeah, there were no, like, I mean, these look like
- 1:27:17Speaker 23: average people that you would see on a day-to-day basis.
- 1:27:20Speaker 5: These weren't, like, you know... Model perfect.
- 1:27:23Speaker 12: Model, yeah, model perfect people that are thrown into this situation.
- 1:27:27Speaker 23: I mean, they look like The chick could definitely pass
- 1:27:30Speaker 23: for a medic. The guy could pass for an ambulance driver.
- 1:27:33Speaker 23: The other chick could definitely pass for a military.
- 1:27:36Speaker 5: She was military.
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: She was.
- 1:27:40Speaker 8: So maybe that's a little more realistic than we're used
- 1:27:43Speaker 8: to in movies.
- 1:27:44Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:27:44Speaker 5: Certainly American movies.
- 1:27:45Speaker 12: Well, yeah, you're always ready for the hot military chick
- 1:27:49Speaker 12: that can kick ass.
- 1:27:50Speaker 5: Or somebody you just.
- 1:27:51Speaker 8: Don't buy, like the Mina Suvari is the kick-ass military
- 1:27:56Speaker 8: chick in that Day of the Dead remake, which was horrible,
- 1:27:59Speaker 8: but I still, like, not a minute did I ever
- 1:28:02Speaker 8: buy Mina in the army.
- 1:28:03Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 1:28:04Speaker 7: That's just.
- 1:28:05Speaker 5: No. I liked the cast. I mean, they were played well.
- 1:28:08Speaker 5: I mean, I had my.
- 1:28:10Speaker 17: Problems with the chick, the main chick, but it wasn't
- 1:28:13Speaker 17: because of the acting. It was because she.
- 1:28:15Speaker 8: Was written as kind of a stupid-ass character. There's a
- 1:28:18Speaker 8: lot of stupid decisions that get made.
- 1:28:20Speaker 5: Down the line. There is, but then... It's kind of
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: realistic to me. Yeah, it's kind of realistic because, you know,
- 1:28:26Speaker 5: she's a medic.
- 1:28:27Speaker 12: How many times do you think it's crossed her mind
- 1:28:30Speaker 12: to be in a situation like this?
- 1:28:32Speaker 5: Probably never.
- 1:28:33Speaker 12: She's busy thinking about her baby and thinking about medical
- 1:28:36Speaker 12: stuff and the.
- 1:28:37Speaker 5: Man that she loves. So her job... going to be
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: really kind of just not right. I think it's not
- 1:28:44Speaker 5: even the bigger question. Every once in a while, there's
- 1:28:47Speaker 5: one major one I went, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 1:28:49Speaker 8: But sometimes, especially later, as we get to the end,
- 1:28:53Speaker 8: there's a couple of times that I'm like, what did
- 1:28:55Speaker 8: you just do?
- 1:28:55Speaker 5: Yeah. We can get to that, but.
- 1:28:59Speaker 8: You said you were comparing it to other movies, which...
- 1:29:01Speaker 8: I mean, there's several that, to me, it felt like
- 1:29:04Speaker 8: it was taking from, but... To me, it had some
- 1:29:06Speaker 8: aspects of, like.
- 1:29:06Speaker 5: You said, Steakland, and 28 Days Later was the kind
- 1:29:09Speaker 5: of virus that it is. To me, that's what I
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: was going to say.
- 1:29:12Speaker 8: Like, it very much felt like it was almost trying
- 1:29:15Speaker 8: to be 28 Days Later, at least in the style of...
- 1:29:19Speaker 8: Just the way that it's shot. It's like, he also
- 1:29:21Speaker 8: shoots really nice shots, and... even the movement like the
- 1:29:25Speaker 8: way that the sometimes it would do very like realistic running.
- 1:29:28Speaker 5: Shots or sometimes it would be a boyfriend man he
- 1:29:30Speaker 5: wasn't a big fan.
- 1:29:31Speaker 12: Of the running shots yeah you know i don't like
- 1:29:32Speaker 12: jerky cam shots it's like i know you're running you
- 1:29:35Speaker 12: don't have to jerk the camera around but.
- 1:29:37Speaker 8: They kind of worked some of that in 28 days
- 1:29:39Speaker 8: later it had a it had a very similar visual style.
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: To what he was doing in 28 days later so
- 1:29:45Speaker 5: that one's the main one i saw but what else
- 1:29:47Speaker 5: did you.
- 1:29:47Speaker 17: Have any kind of movie of this genre, there's, like,
- 1:29:51Speaker 17: stuff you can pick out that's like, oh, well, this is, like,
- 1:29:53Speaker 17: I can't even think of an example now, but just, like,
- 1:29:55Speaker 17: any horror movie or any zombie-type movie where they're on
- 1:29:59Speaker 17: the road or anything, you know?
- 1:30:01Speaker 5: I don't know. It's hard for me to, like, I
- 1:30:04Speaker 5: don't know. And, like, there was parts of it that kind.
- 1:30:07Speaker 17: Of reminded me, not really, but kind of, of Cold Prey.
- 1:30:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:30:12Speaker 17: Because there's scenes in that, I mean, that's in a
- 1:30:13Speaker 17: different country completely, but there's the stark, winter and desolation
- 1:30:18Speaker 17: of it. The feeling that you're trapped in the middle
- 1:30:22Speaker 17: of nowhere.
- 1:30:24Speaker 5: Possibly nobody going to help you. You are all you have.
- 1:30:29Speaker 5: That right there is just terrifying.
- 1:30:31Speaker 12: That's one of the differences between this and Stakeland. With Stakeland,
- 1:30:34Speaker 12: they were always on the move. This one, they had
- 1:30:37Speaker 12: nowhere they could go because it was cold.
- 1:30:40Speaker 5: They just stopped. They were out of gas. They were
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: surrounded by crazy mutant Puma people.
- 1:30:47Speaker 12: You know? I don't know what these mutants were. They
- 1:30:51Speaker 12: looked more like hairless cats to me.
- 1:30:53Speaker 5: With foreign auspices. With foreign auspices. That's the thing, they
- 1:30:56Speaker 5: never explained where this came from. Yeah, no they didn't.
- 1:30:59Speaker 14: A lot of times it's something like, this happens, you're
- 1:31:02Speaker 14: not going to know what the fuck happened.
- 1:31:04Speaker 5: Yeah, and it didn't bother me. It didn't bother me
- 1:31:07Speaker 5: that I didn't know where it came from.
- 1:31:09Speaker 12: And they didn't try to dummy it down with, you know,
- 1:31:11Speaker 12: shit tons of flashbacks or anything like that.
- 1:31:14Speaker 5: Or find a way to work in some incredibly detailed
- 1:31:18Speaker 5: explanation right in the middle. Which a lot of them
- 1:31:20Speaker 5: have done. Well, this is what happened. Let me explain
- 1:31:23Speaker 5: it to you piece by piece right here. I don't care. Like,
- 1:31:25Speaker 5: they happen to catch a news channel, right? When they're
- 1:31:27Speaker 5: explaining everything. Right at the most opportune time. Isn't that nice?
- 1:31:31Speaker 5: I'm telling you.
- 1:31:33Speaker 11: But.
- 1:31:34Speaker 23: They do a very slight explanation at the beginning of
- 1:31:37Speaker 23: the film.
- 1:31:38Speaker 5: In subtitles. Which means you gotta read it.
- 1:31:41Speaker 8: A virus took over, took out most of the population
- 1:31:44Speaker 8: in a couple of weeks, basically.
- 1:31:45Speaker 17: But it's not over-complicated. They don't over-explain. They don't beat
- 1:31:50Speaker 17: it into your head. It's just barely.
- 1:31:52Speaker 5: Mentioned, you know. I mean, this definitely has a more narrow.
- 1:31:57Speaker 8: window of what you're looking at comparing it again just
- 1:32:00Speaker 8: because we just watched the game but i mean that
- 1:32:02Speaker 8: when you get like a nationwide almost worldwide view of
- 1:32:06Speaker 8: what's going on and how messed up things are and
- 1:32:10Speaker 8: you get more of an educated view where these people
- 1:32:12Speaker 8: are still completely in the dark It's still really new
- 1:32:15Speaker 8: is the difference.
- 1:32:16Speaker 5: I mean, state plans have been going on for a
- 1:32:18Speaker 5: year or two at least.
- 1:32:21Speaker 8: So they really do kind of know, oh, we've heard
- 1:32:23Speaker 8: this about this part of the country.
- 1:32:25Speaker 5: There were news reports going on where this.
- 1:32:26Speaker 8: One just hits out of nowhere and they're left with nothing.
- 1:32:30Speaker 8: So they're still piecing it together. And then we never
- 1:32:32Speaker 8: leave that building after that, so we don't even see
- 1:32:34Speaker 8: the rest of the world. So it's definitely a more
- 1:32:36Speaker 8: narrow view, but it doesn't make it any better or worse.
- 1:32:40Speaker 8: It's a different look at that same situation, basically.
- 1:32:43Speaker 5: I think that's what makes it more terrifying. It makes
- 1:32:45Speaker 5: it more terrifying, more scary to me. It's the isolation
- 1:32:49Speaker 5: of it, I guess. The isolation and uncertainty.
- 1:32:51Speaker 17: Because at least in state land, they're moving around all in.
- 1:32:55Speaker 5: And they're running into different people. It's the friendly village
- 1:33:00Speaker 5: that they're in. At least they're getting to be around
- 1:33:03Speaker 5: other people that are going through what they're going through.
- 1:33:05Speaker 5: It's the being stuck by yourself. And having to deal
- 1:33:10Speaker 5: with the man she loves is fucking... Injured. Dying.
- 1:33:13Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:33:15Speaker 14: Uh pulling the dumb goddamn teeth out which i was
- 1:33:18Speaker 14: cringing i was oh i have nightmares that's my most
- 1:33:21Speaker 14: recurring nightmare it's about my teeth coming out so i
- 1:33:25Speaker 14: was like oh god anything but that no and the
- 1:33:27Speaker 14: sound as they came out oh.
- 1:33:32Speaker 5: But just that i don't know it's the fear.
- 1:33:34Speaker 17: Of isolation i'm always i'm afraid of being alone i'm
- 1:33:37Speaker 17: afraid of being alone i'm not even in the house
- 1:33:40Speaker 17: by myself I get creeped out and scared, you know?
- 1:33:44Speaker 29: But just that idea that there's nobody anywhere around that
- 1:33:49Speaker 29: can help you and that you have to deal with
- 1:33:50Speaker 29: this on your own, that scared the hell out of me,
- 1:33:53Speaker 29: I guess. I'll say that this is really a scary,
- 1:33:56Speaker 29: scary movie, but just the situation.
- 1:33:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:33:59Speaker 8: Again, I think that was one of my favorite parts
- 1:34:02Speaker 8: when they drove up to the building.
- 1:34:04Speaker 5: I think you got that whole, like.
- 1:34:06Speaker 8: emptiness of it you got that sort of you know
- 1:34:09Speaker 8: desolation was there.
- 1:34:10Speaker 5: Another thing that you get like another thing that kind
- 1:34:12Speaker 5: of reminded.
- 1:34:12Speaker 8: Me of was the shiny i was thinking session nine
- 1:34:15Speaker 8: yeah it's it's i mean both of them you get
- 1:34:18Speaker 8: but i don't know pretty quickly to me it sort
- 1:34:20Speaker 8: of left that and it entered into that other area
- 1:34:23Speaker 8: i don't know i really like the beginning when they
- 1:34:25Speaker 8: get to that building i like the shots of the
- 1:34:27Speaker 8: building but it seems like then they don't do enough
- 1:34:29Speaker 8: with it like you really don't get any scope Of
- 1:34:31Speaker 8: the building?
- 1:34:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:34:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:34:33Speaker 23: And I'm sitting there thinking, okay, you got this huge building.
- 1:34:35Speaker 23: You're going to tell me that you can't find a
- 1:34:37Speaker 23: safer place to hold up in?
- 1:34:39Speaker 5: You know? What kind of building was this? I know.
- 1:34:42Speaker 5: We never really found out. Like, at first, I was like,
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: is it a hospital? But I thought it was a church.
- 1:34:46Speaker 5: And then it doesn't seem like one. And then I
- 1:34:48Speaker 5: was like, is it supposed to be? Yeah.
- 1:34:50Speaker 8: I was like, I don't know what it's supposed to be.
- 1:34:53Speaker 8: Then later I was like, is it... Like, it almost
- 1:34:54Speaker 8: looked like a complex of some sort. Like, people were
- 1:34:58Speaker 8: meant to live there, but then it didn't look like
- 1:35:00Speaker 8: apartments or anything. So I was like, I don't know what... Like,
- 1:35:02Speaker 8: it was an institution?
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: Yeah, it looked like some kind of factory that had
- 1:35:06Speaker 5: people living there. Like, almost like... Not really a power station, but...
- 1:35:10Speaker 5: It was weird, yeah. Something along the lines of.
- 1:35:13Speaker 15: That, you know?
- 1:35:14Speaker 5: I mean, it obviously... Was able to power itself. Like,
- 1:35:18Speaker 5: she never figured any of that out either.
- 1:35:20Speaker 8: Even as she's calling, she's like, we're in this giant building. And, like,
- 1:35:23Speaker 8: she didn't seem to know what it was either.
- 1:35:25Speaker 12: No.
- 1:35:25Speaker 5: But she knew enough to turn on the backup generator.
- 1:35:27Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:35:28Speaker 12: So.
- 1:35:29Speaker 5: I guess we can get into him. Being infected. So...
- 1:35:34Speaker 5: How exactly did he get infected? Because... The blood. But
- 1:35:37Speaker 5: they said the kid had autism. Okay, we'll go back
- 1:35:40Speaker 5: to the... There's a scene where the... Oh, yeah. I
- 1:35:41Speaker 5: forgot that one.
- 1:35:42Speaker 9: There's a scene towards the beginning where Sonia, Marco, and
- 1:35:47Speaker 9: the army chick, they stop at this gas station.
- 1:35:49Speaker 5: Yeah. And they go in, and there's a bunch of
- 1:35:52Speaker 5: dead people.
- 1:35:53Speaker 17: they're just all bloody and gross apparently they stink because
- 1:35:56Speaker 17: even our girl can't tolerate that shit but anyway out
- 1:35:59Speaker 17: of nowhere this fucking kid like popped up and attacks
- 1:36:01Speaker 17: her ass yeah out of nowhere anyways then uh marco yeah.
- 1:36:07Speaker 8: They find out he's autistic which i will i will
- 1:36:11Speaker 8: give him credit this is the first time i've ever
- 1:36:12Speaker 8: seen a zombie scene with somebody who wasn't a zombie
- 1:36:16Speaker 8: like they played that And continued, like, until the end
- 1:36:20Speaker 8: of that scene.
- 1:36:20Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:36:21Speaker 8: Pretty much treating him like he was a zombie. Even
- 1:36:23Speaker 8: after she said, no, they still, he was still kind
- 1:36:26Speaker 8: of crazy. They still did what they did. I'm just like,
- 1:36:28Speaker 8: it's really weird that, like... You know, anytime that scene
- 1:36:32Speaker 8: takes place, there's a zombie. So it's like it was
- 1:36:34Speaker 8: weird that all of a sudden they're like, no, no,
- 1:36:35Speaker 8: we're calling it off.
- 1:36:36Speaker 5: Yeah. And it still kind of continued. Well, another thing, too,
- 1:36:39Speaker 5: you were asking how he got infected. That kid could
- 1:36:41Speaker 5: have been infected. He could have been. He couldn't have
- 1:36:44Speaker 5: been full blown. He couldn't have been full blown or
- 1:36:46Speaker 5: he could have been immune to it like that girl.
- 1:36:48Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:36:49Speaker 5: So. Spoiler alert. Or was he already infected? I don't know.
- 1:36:53Speaker 5: You never knew. We never really figured that part out. Anyway, spoiler,
- 1:36:58Speaker 5: after the kid attacks the army girl, there's a.
- 1:37:01Speaker 17: Scuffle, and she ends up shooting the fuck out of
- 1:37:04Speaker 17: this autistic kid.
- 1:37:05Speaker 5: Like, not even a little bit. Again, that was when
- 1:37:08Speaker 5: it was still in that.
- 1:37:09Speaker 8: kick-ass like you know really hold on for the ride
- 1:37:13Speaker 8: kind of part of the movie and that was really
- 1:37:16Speaker 8: cool like that scene everything that went on there i
- 1:37:18Speaker 8: didn't see coming you know it's like that whole scene
- 1:37:20Speaker 8: was really original I like that. Again, it sort of
- 1:37:23Speaker 8: takes that turn after we get out of that.
- 1:37:25Speaker 5: But, yeah, everything in that scene I thought.
- 1:37:27Speaker 6: Was actually really cool.
- 1:37:27Speaker 5: Yeah, you don't think they're going to shoot the autistic kid.
- 1:37:29Speaker 7: Yeah, a kid.
- 1:37:30Speaker 5: And on top of that, an autistic kid. Not really
- 1:37:32Speaker 5: a kid kid. I think, well, a teenager. Yeah, he's
- 1:37:34Speaker 5: a little bit older.
- 1:37:35Speaker 8: But he was, yeah, still, he was pretty young and
- 1:37:37Speaker 8: he was confused and scared and she.
- 1:37:39Speaker 10: Shot that boy.
- 1:37:40Speaker 5: Yeah, she shot him because... She didn't want him tagging along.
- 1:37:44Speaker 5: She didn't want to deal with him, basically.
- 1:37:45Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:37:46Speaker 5: Didn't he attack her? Who did she attack? Did she
- 1:37:48Speaker 5: attack him? Yeah, he attacked. He attacked.
- 1:37:51Speaker 8: He just kind of was running at her like he
- 1:37:53Speaker 8: had been. I mean, he wouldn't do anything any more
- 1:37:54Speaker 8: ridiculous than he'd been doing before.
- 1:37:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't remember him. He went after him, actually. Yeah,
- 1:38:00Speaker 5: because he was, yeah. Because he was standing in front
- 1:38:02Speaker 5: of him. Yeah.
- 1:38:03Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:38:04Speaker 5: And then later he got, like, ricocheted, didn't he, or something?
- 1:38:07Speaker 5: I don't know. She shot him. She just shot him.
- 1:38:08Speaker 5: I couldn't tell what it was. She was shooting the kid. Yeah.
- 1:38:10Speaker 5: And it went around him. Well, of course, the kid
- 1:38:13Speaker 5: was right in front of him attacking him. Yeah. She
- 1:38:16Speaker 5: just plowed him. Yeah, and he just started shooting. Which
- 1:38:21Speaker 5: got her shot in the goddamn face.
- 1:38:23Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:38:24Speaker 5: That's what's happened. You don't start shooting random people.
- 1:38:26Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:38:27Speaker 5: And I know somebody had pointed out on.
- 1:38:31Speaker 12: Netflix, on one of the Netflix reviews about how, you know,
- 1:38:34Speaker 12: how this bitch is like, they're like, the nurse chick
- 1:38:38Speaker 12: was so quick to pull the trigger to kill the
- 1:38:40Speaker 12: army chick. But yet, when it comes to a couple
- 1:38:43Speaker 12: of the other scenes where she had to save somebody's life,
- 1:38:46Speaker 12: she was real hesitant. Yeah.
- 1:38:47Speaker 5: And I thought about it more. Well, that chick was
- 1:38:49Speaker 5: going to already shoot her husband.
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 1:38:51Speaker 5: He was going to kill somebody. He was going to
- 1:38:53Speaker 5: harm somebody that she loved. And she just lost it there.
- 1:38:56Speaker 23: Whereas the other parts, she had no attachment to these
- 1:38:59Speaker 23: people and was really kind of not really sure.
- 1:39:03Speaker 8: Whereas.
- 1:39:05Speaker 5: And a lot of times, it's a little wrestling. You
- 1:39:07Speaker 5: can't get a clear shot. Yeah. But, yeah, I like
- 1:39:10Speaker 5: the same thing with her husband.
- 1:39:11Speaker 12: I mean, it was her husband, so she just automatically,
- 1:39:14Speaker 12: you know, got shot in the neck and then in
- 1:39:17Speaker 12: the cheek.
- 1:39:19Speaker 5: The one in the face. The one in the face.
- 1:39:23Speaker 5: The face. Again, not expected.
- 1:39:25Speaker 17: I'm like, okay, this is going to be one of
- 1:39:26Speaker 17: their main characters throughout the entire movie. There's going to
- 1:39:28Speaker 17: be drama later on. It's going to be a big
- 1:39:30Speaker 17: deal later on in the story.
- 1:39:31Speaker 8: No, they offer right away. That's what it felt like. So, yeah, again,
- 1:39:34Speaker 8: that part was very different. Didn't see all that coming.
- 1:39:37Speaker 5: Yeah. Because I was like, damn, it's the army chick.
- 1:39:40Speaker 5: You need the army chick. Why would you kill her? Oh, well, whatever.
- 1:39:44Speaker 5: She was bossy anyway.
- 1:39:45Speaker 10: She was, but.
- 1:39:48Speaker 8: So, it's Once we get to the point that he
- 1:39:50Speaker 8: is infected, here's my first question.
- 1:39:53Speaker 5: So it heals you? It heals you before it kills you? Well,
- 1:39:58Speaker 5: he's mutating. Yeah, he's mutating. He's not really dying, remember?
- 1:40:02Speaker 5: They're not zombies. They're not zombies. It's a virus. People
- 1:40:07Speaker 5: will lose their damn mind. It's not a zombie movie.
- 1:40:09Speaker 5: It's turned them into some kind of weird animal. Again,
- 1:40:12Speaker 5: I always say for all practical purposes, it plays like
- 1:40:14Speaker 5: a zombie movie.
- 1:40:15Speaker 8: But technically, it's like a rage virus kind of thing
- 1:40:18Speaker 8: more so. That transforms people into big hairless poop people.
- 1:40:22Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:40:23Speaker 5: With four nostrils. And they call them cannibals at some point.
- 1:40:26Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 1:40:27Speaker 5: But it's still, like, it... That, again, seems like a
- 1:40:30Speaker 5: weird title. It seems like it doesn't fit, really. Mutants. Well, big,
- 1:40:35Speaker 5: hairless poopy won't be too long. Yeah.
- 1:40:37Speaker 18: I don't know.
- 1:40:38Speaker 8: It just seems like there's a movie out there that
- 1:40:40Speaker 8: probably more fittingly needs to be Mutants. This one just,
- 1:40:43Speaker 8: I'm like, well, I mean, I kind of get a
- 1:40:45Speaker 8: little of it, but it just, I don't know. Again,
- 1:40:47Speaker 8: it almost is more misleading if you didn't know. I mean,
- 1:40:50Speaker 8: I at least went in knowing it was more of
- 1:40:51Speaker 8: a virus.
- 1:40:52Speaker 5: Movie and a zombie movie.
- 1:40:53Speaker 8: But, yeah, I think if I just saw Mutants, I
- 1:40:56Speaker 8: wouldn't expect this movie to come out of it, so. But, okay, so, yeah,
- 1:41:01Speaker 8: he's healing up because he's mutating. But then you're saying,
- 1:41:04Speaker 8: you were talking about the teeth.
- 1:41:06Speaker 5: Oh, my God. That was my thing, though.
- 1:41:09Speaker 8: I'm just like, okay, wait, let's talk about this illness
- 1:41:12Speaker 8: because what good zombie doesn't have his teeth?
- 1:41:15Speaker 5: You need your teeth, damn it. I was like, what's
- 1:41:17Speaker 5: he going to do, knob them? That's what I'm saying.
- 1:41:20Speaker 5: But then he grows in his fangs. I guess. I
- 1:41:24Speaker 5: was just like, dude, you need those teeth. What the
- 1:41:25Speaker 5: hell are you doing? You're going to have to eat
- 1:41:27Speaker 5: your girlfriend. Wasn't it supposed to be in the sling?
- 1:41:30Speaker 17: Oh, okay.
- 1:41:31Speaker 5: But yeah, and my problem with her was, all right, yeah,
- 1:41:35Speaker 5: he's the man you love. You don't want to kill him.
- 1:41:37Speaker 5: Restrain the fuck out of his ass. He is insane,
- 1:41:41Speaker 5: losing his shit. I would have your ass strapped down
- 1:41:45Speaker 5: so fucking hard. He was naked and covered in blood.
- 1:41:47Speaker 5: That's never hot.
- 1:41:48Speaker 8: Before that, by the time he was having the morphine
- 1:41:51Speaker 8: freak out, I'm like, he would have been locked in
- 1:41:53Speaker 8: a room somewhere.
- 1:41:54Speaker 5: He would have been, if not chained.
- 1:41:56Speaker 8: Down to a bed, he would have at least been,
- 1:41:57Speaker 8: she would have found a room that she could bolt
- 1:42:00Speaker 8: him into with a steel door that he could not
- 1:42:02Speaker 8: get out.
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: Of until she figured out what the fuck she was
- 1:42:04Speaker 5: going to do next. I don't understand why she just
- 1:42:06Speaker 5: didn't give him the morphine. I didn't know. I thought
- 1:42:09Speaker 5: maybe she was running out at that point or something. Oh,
- 1:42:11Speaker 5: I don't know. I thought she just didn't want him
- 1:42:13Speaker 5: to come and at him. I'd have doped your ass up, dude. Really?
- 1:42:16Speaker 5: I would have done the same thing. Knock out, be happy.
- 1:42:19Speaker 5: Float away.
- 1:42:19Speaker 17: Oh, God.
- 1:42:24Speaker 5: Yeah. No suffering. Just go on your morphine high, you know?
- 1:42:32Speaker 24: Just chill.
- 1:42:34Speaker 8: So it's, I guess, to get to that next scene
- 1:42:36Speaker 8: where he is naked and covered in blood.
- 1:42:39Speaker 5: Why?
- 1:42:40Speaker 8: Other than it makes for a jarring image, I was like,
- 1:42:44Speaker 8: why did he strip down and throw blood all over himself?
- 1:42:46Speaker 8: Because also, the little bit of blood that was there
- 1:42:48Speaker 8: was not that much blood that was all over him.
- 1:42:50Speaker 5: What do you mean? The blood in the bucket that
- 1:42:53Speaker 5: she drained out of him. Yeah, I mean, there was
- 1:42:54Speaker 5: a little blood that she drained out of him. There
- 1:42:55Speaker 5: was a little bag going into him. Yeah, but the
- 1:42:57Speaker 5: thing is... It was covered in, like, buckets of blood. Well,
- 1:43:00Speaker 5: it wasn't really buckets of blood. I mean, it's... Yeah,
- 1:43:03Speaker 5: he could have.
- 1:43:04Speaker 23: He could have grabbed that bag off the thing and
- 1:43:06Speaker 23: ripped it open and was just smearing it all over.
- 1:43:09Speaker 5: Himself because he's crazy. He's crazy.
- 1:43:11Speaker 23: At that point, he's crazy. Crazy people do crazy things.
- 1:43:13Speaker 23: They get naked for one. And they smear stuff on them,
- 1:43:17Speaker 23: whether it be blood or poop.
- 1:43:18Speaker 5: You know this from experience? I do. I've seen some
- 1:43:23Speaker 5: crazy people on Barksdown Road. They get naked. Covered in poop.
- 1:43:27Speaker 5: They didn't necessarily cover themselves in poop.
- 1:43:29Speaker 12: But they were out naked dancing on the street. But
- 1:43:34Speaker 12: I have heard of caca smearing and craziness.
- 1:43:39Speaker 5: Going hand in hand. So, just, you know. If you
- 1:43:44Speaker 5: see somebody smeared with, uh... Well, that's Marlena. Didn't she
- 1:43:47Speaker 5: used to work with old crazy people?
- 1:43:49Speaker 9: Did she?
- 1:43:50Speaker 5: She worked next to old crazy people.
- 1:43:52Speaker 11: Oh.
- 1:43:52Speaker 5: So... I don't know.
- 1:43:54Speaker 8: I mean, at that point, yeah, once he's... He is, like, stark, raving, mad, crazy,
- 1:43:58Speaker 8: chasing her, going to kill her... That's the point when
- 1:44:01Speaker 8: she opens the door. It's like, what the fuck are
- 1:44:03Speaker 8: you doing?
- 1:44:04Speaker 5: Yeah. Yelling at her. Don't you fucking open that door.
- 1:44:07Speaker 5: What are you, stupid?
- 1:44:08Speaker 8: I mean, there's a lot of steps before then when
- 1:44:10Speaker 8: I was giving her the benefit of the doubt.
- 1:44:11Speaker 5: Okay, you love him. It's looking bad, but you don't
- 1:44:14Speaker 5: want to admit to yourself. Okay, okay.
- 1:44:17Speaker 8: But by the time he was coming at you, ready
- 1:44:19Speaker 8: to kill you, and 30 seconds later, she opens the door.
- 1:44:22Speaker 12: And then tells her right before she opens the door,
- 1:44:24Speaker 12: I can't control myself. I don't know what's wrong with me.
- 1:44:28Speaker 12: I was like, what are you doing? Oh, you can't
- 1:44:30Speaker 12: control yourself?
- 1:44:31Speaker 5: That's okay. Oh, man. I understand.
- 1:44:35Speaker 8: So, and then it enters into that weird thing of, okay,
- 1:44:38Speaker 8: so he sort of goes back and forth, like he
- 1:44:42Speaker 8: regains some sort of consciousness sometimes?
- 1:44:45Speaker 5: I don't know. Like he just loses control momentarily. I guess.
- 1:44:48Speaker 11: Well, yeah.
- 1:44:49Speaker 5: Great virus-like. Yeah. Well, for his, he can go back.
- 1:44:52Speaker 5: I guess. For a certain amount of time. I don't know.
- 1:44:55Speaker 8: Because that continues later, so it's kind of weird that
- 1:44:59Speaker 8: It's like, I don't know, could everybody turn it off
- 1:45:01Speaker 8: like that? Because everybody else just seemed like stupid animals.
- 1:45:03Speaker 8: I mean, once it reached a certain point, once they.
- 1:45:05Speaker 5: You've got to understand, too, at that.
- 1:45:07Speaker 12: Point before then, she had tried to transfuse her blood
- 1:45:10Speaker 12: into him.
- 1:45:12Speaker 8: And he was, like, hopped up on ingesting her blood.
- 1:45:16Speaker 12: Which, part of her blood, granted, she handed an immunity
- 1:45:20Speaker 12: to this virus. It may have caused some other kind
- 1:45:24Speaker 12: of mutation, you know, where he was still.
- 1:45:27Speaker 5: Slightly. I mean, you could see in the movie, he
- 1:45:29Speaker 5: still knew who she was. Yeah. Even though he was nuts.
- 1:45:32Speaker 5: Maybe that's part of it.
- 1:45:33Speaker 7: Maybe it is.
- 1:45:35Speaker 8: He was the only one that had that put into him. Yeah,
- 1:45:38Speaker 8: he's the only one who had it transferred. Yeah, so
- 1:45:40Speaker 8: maybe he's the only one. That's why he's the only one. Like,
- 1:45:42Speaker 8: all the other ones seem like idiots. So, I mean, he's... Well,
- 1:45:45Speaker 8: they're just.
- 1:45:46Speaker 5: They're mindless. Yeah, they act on animal instinct. Yeah, they're
- 1:45:49Speaker 5: just mindless. They're hunting in packs. They're killing people and
- 1:45:52Speaker 5: beating the crap out of them. Or biting them. We're
- 1:45:56Speaker 5: gonna talk about Frank. I fucking hated Frank. Yeah, Frank
- 1:45:59Speaker 5: was a douchebag. Frank is a douchebag. He couldn't die
- 1:46:03Speaker 5: fast enough. About three quarters of the way through this.
- 1:46:07Speaker 21: Yeah.
- 1:46:07Speaker 5: A little before that, yeah. It's like... two-thirds of the
- 1:46:10Speaker 5: way in you still gotta go ways while.
- 1:46:12Speaker 8: They're sitting there because you get a lot of frank
- 1:46:14Speaker 8: being a douche.
- 1:46:15Speaker 17: Yeah she's you know her and her marco sonya and
- 1:46:18Speaker 17: marco are still in the building and she starts flipping
- 1:46:20Speaker 17: out because she hears people breaking in so she thinks
- 1:46:21Speaker 17: the fucking mutant doesn't know what to get her ass
- 1:46:24Speaker 17: it's frank it's worse than the mutant it's frank and.
- 1:46:26Speaker 12: Yes as it always is in these situations yeah and
- 1:46:29Speaker 12: that's what girlfriend commented on. She's like, even with all
- 1:46:33Speaker 12: these monsters, the biggest monster turns out being Frank.
- 1:46:36Speaker 5: That's what it always is. Yeah. It's Night of the
- 1:46:38Speaker 5: Living Dead from the first time out we did this movie.
- 1:46:41Speaker 5: It's 28 days later. Yeah, 28 days later. Every time
- 1:46:45Speaker 5: you learn when everything falls apart, the worst thing you
- 1:46:48Speaker 5: can fight.
- 1:46:49Speaker 30: Against isn't what you're fighting against, it's the other people
- 1:46:51Speaker 30: around you. Yeah, so Frank is an absolute dick. Him
- 1:46:56Speaker 30: and his slutty ass girlfriend. Does she even have a name?
- 1:47:01Speaker 5: Slutty girl slutty girl and uh injury dude I don't remember.
- 1:47:05Speaker 12: His name either his buddy yeah and then the uh
- 1:47:08Speaker 12: poor man's uh Riddick crazy brother crazy brother.
- 1:47:12Speaker 23: Yeah the guy with the machete who's kind of badass
- 1:47:16Speaker 23: A little bit.
- 1:47:17Speaker 5: He still got his ass eaten. Was that the brother?
- 1:47:19Speaker 9: I don't think they were related, were they? Oh, no,
- 1:47:20Speaker 9: he was the crazy guy that picked up. The other
- 1:47:22Speaker 9: guy got injured trying to save his brother, but he didn't.
- 1:47:26Speaker 9: They picked the other guy up along the way.
- 1:47:28Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:47:28Speaker 5: So they weren't related to him. He was one of
- 1:47:31Speaker 5: the only redeemable characters. Him and the injury guy. I
- 1:47:34Speaker 5: liked injury guy. Yeah, the other two guys were okay, really.
- 1:47:37Speaker 5: Injury guy and fake critic, they were okay. If they
- 1:47:39Speaker 5: would have shown up by themselves, they would have been okay.
- 1:47:42Speaker 5: They probably would have helped her. Yeah. They would have
- 1:47:44Speaker 5: picked everything up. Yeah, Frank was a douche.
- 1:47:46Speaker 17: Frank was like, if your creepy friend Sean had a dad,
- 1:47:49Speaker 17: that'd be him.
- 1:47:51Speaker 5: Yeah. Anyways, so Frank decides he wants to take the ambulance,
- 1:47:55Speaker 5: which ain't got no fucking gas. You ain't going anywhere, bitch.
- 1:47:59Speaker 12: Yeah, they end up taking, what is it, the poor
- 1:48:02Speaker 12: Manzaretic guy takes his machete, and him and the chick.
- 1:48:06Speaker 5: go somewhere. I don't know where the hell they went. Tunnels. Yeah,
- 1:48:10Speaker 5: some tunnels where he got gas and she was going to.
- 1:48:13Speaker 17: They don't over-explain some things. So you have no idea
- 1:48:15Speaker 17: where the fuck they're going, what they're doing.
- 1:48:16Speaker 5: He kind of said something, but at that point my
- 1:48:18Speaker 5: eyes were kind of... It was impressive.
- 1:48:20Speaker 12: Kind of blurring in and out of being able to
- 1:48:22Speaker 12: read the subtitles. But he kind of takes a little
- 1:48:25Speaker 12: bit of pity on her and lets her.
- 1:48:29Speaker 5: Go and use the radio to contact Noah. No, that
- 1:48:34Speaker 5: was their deal. She would get him the keys. Yeah.
- 1:48:36Speaker 5: He would get her the radio. So it wasn't pretty
- 1:48:37Speaker 5: bad a deal. He wanted to go bury his family. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:48:41Speaker 5: I guess. Still, though, Frank would have just beat the
- 1:48:46Speaker 5: crap out of her and taken the keys.
- 1:48:48Speaker 12: You know.
- 1:48:50Speaker 5: So let's get to the tunnels, because there is some
- 1:48:52Speaker 5: bullshit going on. Okay, what's the bullshit in the tunnels?
- 1:48:55Speaker 5: I don't even know.
- 1:48:56Speaker 17: It was, she, again, I guess her not being able
- 1:48:59Speaker 17: to get a clean cut, so she just stands there
- 1:49:01Speaker 17: with a gun while the guy gets sassy.
- 1:49:03Speaker 5: Yeah, he gets bit. That was a whole lot of
- 1:49:05Speaker 5: me just, like, being frustrated.
- 1:49:07Speaker 8: Again, we get to that last half, and at least
- 1:49:10Speaker 8: it actually picks up. It's like, at that point, like,
- 1:49:12Speaker 8: there's creatures running around all of a sudden, like, well,
- 1:49:15Speaker 8: the husband, like, Is the one that does his, like,
- 1:49:19Speaker 8: crazy zombie call?
- 1:49:20Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:49:20Speaker 5: He's in the basement where she locked him up, which, again, finally.
- 1:49:23Speaker 5: The call didn't happen until she got back from the tunnel. Yeah,
- 1:49:27Speaker 5: when she was, uh, after Frank beat the crap out
- 1:49:31Speaker 5: of her. Oh, Lord.
- 1:49:32Speaker 17: Because, yeah, it was, they went to the tunnel. There
- 1:49:35Speaker 17: was already some mutants in the tunnel.
- 1:49:37Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:49:38Speaker 5: So that went on. Got in a fight. Boy got eaten.
- 1:49:41Speaker 5: She ran back to the fucking building with no keys,
- 1:49:45Speaker 5: no gas. A mutant's following her. Frank flips out. Beats
- 1:49:49Speaker 5: the shit out of her. Yeah, because he's wanting the
- 1:49:52Speaker 5: gas and he's wanting the keys. Neither would she have
- 1:49:54Speaker 5: because she's like, I'm talking about the dead guy.
- 1:49:56Speaker 12: He gets ready to shoot her and she screams out
- 1:49:59Speaker 12: her husband's name. And that's when he does the crazy
- 1:50:02Speaker 12: mutant Puma call.
- 1:50:05Speaker 5: With four nostrils. Do you remember Stubbs the zombie could
- 1:50:09Speaker 5: do the same thing? He could, couldn't he? That's true.
- 1:50:11Speaker 5: He could rally his troops. He whistled. That's pretty much
- 1:50:14Speaker 5: what this was. It was just sort of like he
- 1:50:16Speaker 5: threw this out there. I love that game. We haven't
- 1:50:18Speaker 5: played that game in a while. I love Stubbs. Stubbs
- 1:50:20Speaker 5: was pretty fun. But anyways, so.
- 1:50:22Speaker 8: Yeah, then the cavalry came running all of a sudden
- 1:50:25Speaker 8: and they were, the whole building was just sort of
- 1:50:28Speaker 8: overrun with mutant zombies, so... At least at that point,
- 1:50:31Speaker 8: it gets kind of entertaining again and it gets back
- 1:50:34Speaker 8: into the action. But at that point, I just wanted
- 1:50:36Speaker 8: to smack her because all she does is like long stuff.
- 1:50:39Speaker 5: Like everything she does. No, just shoot him. Why are
- 1:50:43Speaker 5: you standing there? No.
- 1:50:45Speaker 8: Everything she does is frustrating. Why would you run to
- 1:50:47Speaker 8: the basement? Yeah, just everything she does. I'm just like,
- 1:50:51Speaker 8: why are you doing that? That's the dumbest thing you
- 1:50:53Speaker 8: could do in this situation. So there's a whole lot
- 1:50:56Speaker 8: of that. It becomes very frustrating in that part.
- 1:51:00Speaker 5: And to me, if.
- 1:51:01Speaker 8: If you're already not really sure where you are and
- 1:51:04Speaker 8: what's going on in there, and if or if not,
- 1:51:07Speaker 8: there are zombie mutants around the corner waiting.
- 1:51:09Speaker 5: To kill you, is a smoke bomb a good idea? Yeah,
- 1:51:12Speaker 5: what the hell was up with that? What the fuck
- 1:51:14Speaker 5: was that? Frank's a dumbass. What do you expect? I know.
- 1:51:17Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:51:17Speaker 5: As they're like, I'm like, you were the ones that
- 1:51:19Speaker 5: needed to be able to see.
- 1:51:20Speaker 12: Yeah, I know.
- 1:51:21Speaker 5: They probably have mutant senses and they can, like, smell
- 1:51:24Speaker 5: you over there. Exactly. He fills a smoke bomb out.
- 1:51:27Speaker 5: I look at girlfriend, I'm like... the fuck is.
- 1:51:28Speaker 17: That supposed to do yeah that's real good now you
- 1:51:32Speaker 17: can't fucking see him dummy like dumbass oh.
- 1:51:34Speaker 4: There's a blind oh shit i can't see either oops
- 1:51:39Speaker 4: i was like it'd be different if you had a
- 1:51:40Speaker 4: plan and that was to cover you while you like
- 1:51:43Speaker 4: got away or did something but like no they just stood.
- 1:51:46Speaker 8: There yeah like oh good now i also can't see
- 1:51:50Speaker 8: in addition to not knowing what's in here and where
- 1:51:52Speaker 8: they are and if they're about to kill yeah Because,
- 1:51:55Speaker 8: I don't know, then there's a whole lot of, why
- 1:51:57Speaker 8: didn't she shoot?
- 1:51:59Speaker 5: Yeah. There was a couple of times. Why did, why, no. So,
- 1:52:03Speaker 5: I don't know, whatever. Frank completely dicking over his slutty girlfriend. Yeah,
- 1:52:07Speaker 5: what the hell is that about? Like, why bother?
- 1:52:08Speaker 8: It's Frank looking out for number one. But why even
- 1:52:10Speaker 8: bother having her? I mean, it doesn't even seem like
- 1:52:13Speaker 8: it was putting him out to have saved her.
- 1:52:15Speaker 5: He was just a dick. Yeah. And it's just like, nah,
- 1:52:17Speaker 5: I don't think so. You weren't really that good.
- 1:52:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:52:22Speaker 5: So it's not like he didn't have time. He could
- 1:52:25Speaker 5: have opened the door. She could have got in real quick. Yeah,
- 1:52:28Speaker 5: he was standing right there. He could have done it.
- 1:52:30Speaker 5: He just stood there and watched. I'm like, what a jackass.
- 1:52:32Speaker 5: It's all right. He didn't last much longer. No, he didn't.
- 1:52:35Speaker 5: So it wouldn't have done her much good to make
- 1:52:37Speaker 5: it in there either. I don't know. The zombie could
- 1:52:40Speaker 5: have got Frank and she could have made it right
- 1:52:42Speaker 5: for it. She could have been the sole survivor of
- 1:52:43Speaker 5: this fucking movie.
- 1:52:44Speaker 6: Oh, good.
- 1:52:45Speaker 5: I didn't like her either, though. Fuck her. Frank probably
- 1:52:48Speaker 5: would have thrown her down just to get away. Yeah, probably.
- 1:52:51Speaker 5: So then we get the husband.
- 1:52:54Speaker 8: Reappears and we get like some zombie on zombie action.
- 1:52:59Speaker 5: Yeah. Then we get back to that.
- 1:53:01Speaker 8: Like he snaps back into husband mode and realizes it's her.
- 1:53:06Speaker 8: And it's sort of keeping some level of his consciousness
- 1:53:11Speaker 8: enough to beat the hell out of that other zombie
- 1:53:13Speaker 8: who was trying to get her.
- 1:53:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:53:14Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:53:15Speaker 5: And other than that, then we just kind of get
- 1:53:17Speaker 5: out into the little yard there.
- 1:53:19Speaker 29: Yeah.
- 1:53:19Speaker 5: Which, again, is a weird situation.
- 1:53:21Speaker 17: Me and Jay were like, all right, are they actually
- 1:53:24Speaker 17: going to save her?
- 1:53:25Speaker 5: Or are they going to realize she's been bitten and
- 1:53:27Speaker 5: they're going to shoot her ass on spot?
- 1:53:28Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:53:29Speaker 5: Which is kind of, again, very Night.
- 1:53:30Speaker 7: Of the Living Dead.
- 1:53:31Speaker 5: So it could have gone either way. It's just like
- 1:53:34Speaker 5: they're taking her word that she's immune. She said that
- 1:53:37Speaker 5: on her radio call. Like, I'm pregnant, I've been bitten,
- 1:53:39Speaker 5: but I'm immune. Okay.
- 1:53:42Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:53:42Speaker 5: I mean, isn't that what everybody always says? No, it's
- 1:53:45Speaker 5: not affecting me. I'm telling the truth. I don't know.
- 1:53:48Speaker 5: Let's ask Greg sometimes. Everybody always says that. Greg, have
- 1:53:53Speaker 5: you been bitten?
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: No, not this.
- 1:53:55Speaker 5: It's a cut.
- 1:53:58Speaker 8: So, I don't know, do we decide, did he attack
- 1:54:01Speaker 8: her in any other way when he went to the
- 1:54:04Speaker 8: stomach area?
- 1:54:05Speaker 5: No, he just, it.
- 1:54:06Speaker 8: Didn't seem like he did, but then I've, yeah, I've
- 1:54:09Speaker 8: seen other people really confused by that.
- 1:54:11Speaker 5: No, I think he just kind of, he was, he
- 1:54:13Speaker 5: knew she was pregnant. He was sort of nuzzling the child. And, yeah,
- 1:54:17Speaker 5: and I think he just was scaring the crap out
- 1:54:19Speaker 5: of her. Yeah. Which, what the hell is that? Yeah.
- 1:54:22Speaker 5: If he was still conscious of it, why is he
- 1:54:24Speaker 5: being a freak? Maybe he was only conscious on a
- 1:54:25Speaker 5: certain level. Maybe he wasn't fully conscious. Maybe it was, like,
- 1:54:28Speaker 5: a little part of him. Just enough to keep him
- 1:54:29Speaker 5: from killing her. Yeah. So maybe it's... I don't know.
- 1:54:32Speaker 17: If it was just enough to keep him from killing her.
- 1:54:36Speaker 5: But mostly... I guess so. Yeah, that's a really weird thing.
- 1:54:43Speaker 5: Especially as she hits... Because at the end, she's holding
- 1:54:46Speaker 5: their stomach, and there's no, like, blood or anything.
- 1:54:48Speaker 8: Yeah, there's not blood everywhere, so that's why I thought
- 1:54:50Speaker 8: there wasn't anything else, but I've had other people.
- 1:54:53Speaker 5: Because if you gnaw the fuck out of her stomach,
- 1:54:55Speaker 5: you think they'd be able to do blood. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:54:56Speaker 5: Just a little. Just a little bit. A big old
- 1:54:59Speaker 5: shark fangy-fangy would have done something, but, you know, nothing. Oh, so,
- 1:55:05Speaker 5: I mean, once we get to the chopper, are we
- 1:55:08Speaker 5: planning sequel? We're going to the chopper. Get to the chopper.
- 1:55:10Speaker 5: To the chopper. I don't think there'd be a sequel
- 1:55:14Speaker 5: for that. You think there'd be something? We're not kind
- 1:55:17Speaker 5: of waiting for her to have a goddamn mutant baby. Yeah, no.
- 1:55:20Speaker 5: That's what I'm wondering what they're going to do with that.
- 1:55:25Speaker 8: If the baby's going to be immune and be the
- 1:55:28Speaker 8: savior of what's left of humanity.
- 1:55:30Speaker 5: He's going to come out being a thundercat. He's going
- 1:55:33Speaker 5: to give birth to Lion-O. Panthor. They look a lot
- 1:55:36Speaker 5: more like Panthor.
- 1:55:37Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:55:38Speaker 5: Or it's a panther.
- 1:55:39Speaker 11: Thunder.
- 1:55:40Speaker 18: Thunder.
- 1:55:41Speaker 5: Thundercats. Which you were holding the Sword of Omens earlier. Dude,
- 1:55:46Speaker 5: I was so fucking, I wanted that so bad. But
- 1:55:47Speaker 5: it was $ 29.
- 1:55:48Speaker 8: It was like a letter opener style Sword of Omens.
- 1:55:52Speaker 5: Oh, it was awesome. You push a little button and
- 1:55:53Speaker 5: it scared the bitch out of me. It like shot out.
- 1:55:55Speaker 5: I was like, oh. I thought that I broke something.
- 1:55:58Speaker 5: I was like, oh. I want that so bad. It
- 1:56:00Speaker 5: is awesome. I need one of those too. I need
- 1:56:01Speaker 5: to look on eBay and.
- 1:56:02Speaker 18: Get a cheaper one.
- 1:56:04Speaker 5: It was awesome. So, I don't know. If it had
- 1:56:06Speaker 5: been full size, I would have got it, but it's
- 1:56:07Speaker 5: like small.
- 1:56:08Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:56:09Speaker 5: Full size. That would be pricey. Hell yeah. So, is
- 1:56:12Speaker 5: there other stuff we want to get into before I
- 1:56:14Speaker 5: wrap up.
- 1:56:14Speaker 22: On this one?
- 1:56:15Speaker 5: I don't know. I don't really like this movie.
- 1:56:17Speaker 17: I don't think people like zombie movies or anything in
- 1:56:19Speaker 17: that genre. I think you might like this movie.
- 1:56:23Speaker 5: It's not a zombie movie, but it's got certain aspects
- 1:56:26Speaker 5: that are kind of like it. It's got most aspects
- 1:56:28Speaker 5: of a zombie movie. Yeah. Aside from actually how they
- 1:56:30Speaker 5: met him to die. But it's just... You might find
- 1:56:34Speaker 5: parts of it boring. I didn't. I fancied it. That
- 1:56:38Speaker 5: was my take on it. I just... There was that.
- 1:56:40Speaker 8: Big lull in the middle for me that I was
- 1:56:42Speaker 8: just like, I wish there was more going on.
- 1:56:44Speaker 5: Again, it still looked good. Like, along the way. Like,
- 1:56:46Speaker 5: I think visually it's interesting all the way through. I
- 1:56:49Speaker 5: think that director definitely has... handle on the visuals and
- 1:56:53Speaker 5: I think the visuals are what got me through it
- 1:56:56Speaker 5: without being bored probably so impressive visually.
- 1:56:59Speaker 8: To me there were several times I was trying to
- 1:57:01Speaker 8: think some of the I mean right off the bat
- 1:57:02Speaker 8: you get all those shots of like the trees they're
- 1:57:06Speaker 8: kind of just weird the way that they're shot but
- 1:57:08Speaker 8: then like when we get the shot of the water
- 1:57:11Speaker 8: they're washing out the ambulance that's an awesome shot and
- 1:57:14Speaker 8: then or just the driving like the high speed driving
- 1:57:19Speaker 8: like that that was kind of again done in a
- 1:57:22Speaker 8: different style than everything else so he's also kind of
- 1:57:24Speaker 8: like not just one type of thing like he works
- 1:57:27Speaker 8: in several different types of stuff um the shot of
- 1:57:31Speaker 8: them like holding hands as they get you know as
- 1:57:33Speaker 8: the girls out there which by the way and let's
- 1:57:36Speaker 8: talk about that shot where she uh well again this
- 1:57:38Speaker 8: is the beginning so no big spoiler she shoots that
- 1:57:41Speaker 8: guy that was in the ambulance that looked good like
- 1:57:44Speaker 8: i don't know how they shot because like you get
- 1:57:46Speaker 8: like blood spray and like stuff off of his head
- 1:57:49Speaker 8: and i'm like did they really just shoot that guy
- 1:57:51Speaker 8: because that looked pretty fucking.
- 1:57:53Speaker 5: Good it was from a distance, but it just, the
- 1:57:56Speaker 5: way that he reacted, the way.
- 1:57:57Speaker 8: Everything sprayed off of it looked, you know, timed perfectly, like,
- 1:58:01Speaker 8: I was.
- 1:58:01Speaker 5: Like, I think they just killed that guy.
- 1:58:04Speaker 7: It's a snuff film.
- 1:58:05Speaker 8: But yeah, I mean, that stuff was good, and even like,
- 1:58:08Speaker 8: I don't know, that i guess the big one like
- 1:58:10Speaker 8: that the hole in the door shot is.
- 1:58:13Speaker 5: Awesome like you kind of remind me of the shiny.
- 1:58:15Speaker 8: Yeah yeah definitely But it's done really creepy and very suspenseful.
- 1:58:20Speaker 12: And you're waiting for him to stick his head through
- 1:58:22Speaker 12: there and scare the crap out of him.
- 1:58:23Speaker 5: But he never does. I don't know. So I think
- 1:58:26Speaker 5: definitely visually, I mean, this guy has a handle on it.
- 1:58:31Speaker 8: I've got a problem with that lull, but again, the
- 1:58:33Speaker 8: beginning and the end are still pretty action-packed.
- 1:58:36Speaker 5: So it makes up for it. It's definitely worth seeing.
- 1:58:38Speaker 8: I just, I don't know that it's, amazing but to
- 1:58:41Speaker 8: me the visuals were pretty amazing.
- 1:58:43Speaker 17: So i was lured in by that the first the
- 1:58:45Speaker 17: first scene yeah like with the.
- 1:58:47Speaker 5: Girl running through the woods the very the very very
- 1:58:51Speaker 5: beginning it's like i guess they're having like a little
- 1:58:53Speaker 5: zombie field trip or something they're all just kind of
- 1:58:55Speaker 5: hanging out in the woods or whatever yeah there's.
- 1:58:58Speaker 17: One girl all bloody running through the woods and and
- 1:59:01Speaker 17: you're like you're like is she safe is she gonna
- 1:59:03Speaker 17: be okay is she gonna make it i think she's
- 1:59:05Speaker 17: gonna make it i think she's gonna be the main
- 1:59:06Speaker 17: character and she makes it to the road and she
- 1:59:08Speaker 17: stops in the middle of the road and then i'll be.
- 1:59:11Speaker 5: Damn there's the ambulance and it switches.
- 1:59:14Speaker 8: The fuck out of her yeah really you should know
- 1:59:16Speaker 8: not to stand in the middle of the road damn
- 1:59:18Speaker 8: it it.
- 1:59:18Speaker 17: Like final destination explodes her ass didn't your parents teach
- 1:59:23Speaker 17: you anything damn.
- 1:59:24Speaker 5: You know the scene in Final Destination where the girl
- 1:59:26Speaker 5: gets hit by a bus and it catches you so unaware?
- 1:59:28Speaker 5: That's what fucking happened. It was kind of like this.
- 1:59:30Speaker 5: Although I was pretty sure something like that was coming.
- 1:59:32Speaker 5: I knew something was going to happen, but I didn't
- 1:59:34Speaker 5: know she was going to get hit by a goddamn ambulance.
- 1:59:37Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:59:37Speaker 5: That was a good shot, too. That came out of nowhere.
- 1:59:40Speaker 5: I don't know. I thought it was awesome.
- 1:59:42Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, that whole opening 20... Again, the first
- 1:59:46Speaker 8: 20 and the last.
- 1:59:47Speaker 5: 20 minutes are pretty damn entertaining. And I really wanted
- 1:59:50Speaker 5: to like this movie, too, because I picked it and
- 1:59:52Speaker 5: I didn't want to pick a shitty movie. See, I
- 1:59:55Speaker 5: don't care. I like to watch stuff regardless. I'm picky.
- 2:00:00Speaker 5: I don't want to watch shake stuff sometimes.
- 2:00:02Speaker 17: My boyfriend wouldn't let me watch Drop Dead Sexy.
- 2:00:05Speaker 12: I just wasn't in the mood for it. I like
- 2:00:09Speaker 12: Jason Lee, don't get me wrong. Jason Lee's awesome. And
- 2:00:13Speaker 12: he's a cool guy. Crispin Glover's fucking nuts.
- 2:00:19Speaker 10: He's bad shit crazy.
- 2:00:21Speaker 5: He is, but I'd probably hang out with him. Would you?
- 2:00:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I would.
- 2:00:25Speaker 5: That means I have to hang out with him. I
- 2:00:26Speaker 5: don't want to hang out with him.
- 2:00:27Speaker 17: Oh, Lord.
- 2:00:28Speaker 5: So does that wrap up... We can hang out with
- 2:00:29Speaker 5: Jason Lee.
- 2:00:30Speaker 10: Jason Lee's pretty cool.
- 2:00:31Speaker 5: Does that wrap up mutants?
- 2:00:32Speaker 22: Yeah, I think so.
- 2:00:34Speaker 5: Bloody good time. There's lots of blood. Naked mutants. And
- 2:00:38Speaker 5: some weird sort of mutant-like people. I don't know what
- 2:00:41Speaker 5: the hell they are.
- 2:00:41Speaker 17: You see a naked man-ass covered in blood.
- 2:00:44Speaker 5: That's exciting.
- 2:00:45Speaker 7: Man-ass.
- 2:00:47Speaker 8: All right, so with that, I guess we'll say, okay, kids,
- 2:00:50Speaker 8: get out your decoder pens.
- 2:00:51Speaker 5: For you members of the Secret Circle. Okay, I got
- 2:00:54Speaker 5: it out. I thought you were doing the fanfare, Misty.
- 2:00:58Speaker 5: There it is. It is time for the movie out
- 2:01:04Speaker 5: on Secret Circle. We'll be able to have the next
- 2:01:05Speaker 5: exciting feature. Sparkle, sparkle.
- 2:01:10Speaker 8: Which again, next week we will continue with our coverage
- 2:01:13Speaker 8: of Scarefest. And we will see who else we can
- 2:01:16Speaker 8: rope into it.
- 2:01:16Speaker 5: I'm trying to see if we can pin down Marlena,
- 2:01:18Speaker 5: but good luck on that one. Yeah, because we've had
- 2:01:20Speaker 5: enough of this shit.
- 2:01:21Speaker 8: I believe we've got Lucy roped into it. And we should,
- 2:01:25Speaker 8: if all goes well, have a special guest for you
- 2:01:27Speaker 8: next week. Plus, hopefully we'll rope some more interviews together.
- 2:01:31Speaker 5: So we'll rope some people into that. You just want
- 2:01:33Speaker 5: to rope me into it?
- 2:01:35Speaker 18: Yeah, I'm not going to argue that.
- 2:01:37Speaker 5: I don't know how she would feel about that.
- 2:01:39Speaker 22: Or her husband.
- 2:01:39Speaker 5: But anyway... We will see if we can rope somebody
- 2:01:42Speaker 5: in to do an interview along the way. And if
- 2:01:44Speaker 5: nothing else, we hopefully will have an extra special guest
- 2:01:48Speaker 5: on our Sofa Theater feature next week.
- 2:01:49Speaker 8: So with that, I will give you the Sofa Theater feature,
- 2:01:52Speaker 8: which will be, and this is a big one. I've
- 2:01:54Speaker 8: kind of left this one alone for a while because
- 2:01:56Speaker 8: it's almost daunting.
- 2:01:58Speaker 5: We're going to do Aliens.
- 2:02:01Speaker 8: Aliens is one of the most awesome movies ever.
- 2:02:03Speaker 5: So for me to try to do it justice is
- 2:02:06Speaker 5: going to be, I'm kind of taking it seriously. So
- 2:02:09Speaker 5: we're going to see what we can do with aliens
- 2:02:11Speaker 5: next week.
- 2:02:12Speaker 12: Aw, man, I'm not going to be on that, because
- 2:02:14Speaker 12: I've got some funny stories about aliens.
- 2:02:17Speaker 5: I'm sure they will resurface on another episode.
- 2:02:19Speaker 18: Yeah, I guess.
- 2:02:20Speaker 5: Alright, so with that, we do want to say thank
- 2:02:22Speaker 5: you to Scarefest. Thank you!
- 2:02:25Speaker 3: Thanks!
- 2:02:25Speaker 22: Okay, Brian, you're home.
- 2:02:26Speaker 10: Get out of my car.
- 2:02:27Speaker 5: We haven't wrapped up the show yet. That was the wrap-up.
- 2:02:32Speaker 5: We do want to say thank you to Scarefest. They
- 2:02:34Speaker 5: let us come in there and conduct our ridiculous business
- 2:02:37Speaker 5: in the middle of Scarefest, and Actually, I had fun
- 2:02:40Speaker 5: and got to hang out with Leah for a few moments.
- 2:02:43Speaker 5: And Lance was awesome, and Misty got high-fived. Pop-up books. So, yeah,
- 2:02:49Speaker 5: it was lots of fun. So, thank you once again
- 2:02:51Speaker 5: to Scarefest. Again, go to thescarefest.com and find out more
- 2:02:55Speaker 5: about next time around, because it is an annual event. So,
- 2:02:59Speaker 5: go head for it next year. Okay. Anything else you
- 2:03:03Speaker 5: need to wrap this thing up? Aside from get the
- 2:03:05Speaker 5: fuck out of the car.
- 2:03:06Speaker 11: No.
- 2:03:08Speaker 5: With that, we will return next week. Same time, same
- 2:03:10Speaker 5: geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 2:03:13Speaker 17: Bye.
- 2:03:27Speaker 27: Down and down she goes.
- 2:03:31Speaker 21: I remember Jones I'd say down and down and down
- 2:03:35Speaker 21: and down She'd look really lovely.
- 2:03:37Speaker 15: At home Till somebody gonna come up and ask her
- 2:03:41Speaker 15: To live happily ever after It's Amanda Jones It's Amanda
- 2:03:53Speaker 15: Jones On and on she goes, little.
- 2:03:57Speaker 5: Miss Amanda Jones. I said on and on and on.
- 2:04:01Speaker 27: And on, just watch her as she grows.
- 2:04:05Speaker 15: Don't want to say very obviously, but she's losing her nobility.
- 2:04:14Speaker 15: Miss Amanda Jones.
- 2:04:16Speaker 6: Miss Amanda Jones.
- 2:04:20Speaker 21: Hey, girl, don't you realize the money that's still in you? Hey, girl,
- 2:04:26Speaker 21: you just got to find someone who really pulls it back.
- 2:04:55Speaker 22: She just wanders about.
- 2:04:56Speaker 15: To lose her time for a crumbling out there Miss
- 2:05:04Speaker 15: Amanda Jones Miss Amanda Jones.
- 2:05:08Speaker 5: Up and up she goes, little Miss Amanda Jones.
- 2:05:11Speaker 24: I said up and up.
- 2:05:12Speaker 5: And up and up, she looks quite.
- 2:05:14Speaker 15: A lot like a stone.
- 2:05:16Speaker 5: Yes, she's a diamond on the discontent ground.
- 2:05:21Speaker 15: And she's right where you've had her, Miss Amanda Jones.
- 2:05:34Speaker 5: Miss Amanda Jones.
- 2:05:36Speaker 7: Miss Amanda Jones.
- 2:05:37Speaker 22: Miss Amanda Jones.
- 2:05:38Speaker 5: America.
- 2:06:17Speaker 1: I wonder if I listened to this. I wonder if
- 2:06:19Speaker 1: I listened to this podcast. Was it four people talking?
- 2:06:23Speaker 18: I think there was.
- 2:06:26Speaker 1: I think there was.
- 2:06:28Speaker 16: I think I listened to that.
- 2:06:30Speaker 1: I don't think I want to talk to you anymore.
