- 3:00Speaker 3: Holiday special, in quotes, as usual.
- 3:02Speaker 9: I'll be recording this until Christmas.
- 3:05Speaker 3: That's the plan. Gotta wait till Santa gets here. So, um, yeah.
- 3:11Speaker 3: I guess we didn't officially rename it that, but if
- 3:13Speaker 3: you want, we can still play the theme from last
- 3:16Speaker 3: year for you, Greg. Your favorite part.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Your favorite part. Yeah, kind of.
- 3:28Speaker 3: All right, so we're back, and this time we have
- 3:30Speaker 3: busted out the hot chocolate. We're going full on, but
- 3:34Speaker 3: as usual, we have to have other special activities and additives.
- 3:38Speaker 2: You have to have more sugar than you can handle more.
- 3:40Speaker 9: It's getting late. I'm going to need it.
- 3:42Speaker 1: I already really feel like I'm going to puke. But
- 3:44Speaker 1: I just, I'm already like.
- 3:46Speaker 2: So you've had pizza, jerky, candy.
- 3:49Speaker 11: Soda.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Hot soda. Soda.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Here was the really special one to go with the
- 3:54Speaker 3: hot cocoa. I was going to just get marshmallows. And
- 3:57Speaker 3: then I found these. They're cocoa goldfish that swim in
- 4:01Speaker 3: your hot chocolate. And they come with marshmallows.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Holy crap.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Wow.
- 4:06Speaker 9: I'm not sure how I.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Feel about this.
- 4:08Speaker 3: They're chocolate graham crackers, marshmallow flavored fishes.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Do they melt?
- 4:14Speaker 10: Who cares?
- 4:14Speaker 3: They're fishes swimming in your hot chocolate.
- 4:17Speaker 9: I'm disturbed.
- 4:18Speaker 2: It's the best idea ever.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Come on.
- 4:20Speaker 9: I'm not sure yet. We'll have to let you do it.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I'll do anything once.
- 4:31Speaker 9: My ghost marshmallow is almost completely melted, so I'm almost.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Yeah, you've got ghost marshmallows.
- 4:34Speaker 9: I've got leftover Halloween spooktacular marshmallows.
- 4:38Speaker 2: You can listen to the package opening on the podcast.
- 4:40Speaker 3: There's fish swimming in my hot chocolate.
- 4:43Speaker 11: I leave.
- 4:44Speaker 3: I'm a little too amused by that.
- 4:45Speaker 2: On the way home, though. Well, no, it doesn't matter.
- 4:49Speaker 2: It seems like either way, it gets you.
- 4:51Speaker 9: It took me an hour and a half the other
- 4:53Speaker 9: day to get home.
- 4:55Speaker 6: Oh, no.
- 4:56Speaker 3: That one's diving.
- 4:57Speaker 2: The day that four people wrecked... That was funny.
- 4:59Speaker 6: Skye!
- 5:00Speaker 10: You don't.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Want them?
- 5:06Speaker 10: Oh, look at that.
- 5:07Speaker 2: They're swimming.
- 5:08Speaker 9: That's what I'm saying.
- 5:09Speaker 2: You can't go wrong with swimming fishes in your shop.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Swimming with the fishes. So do they have like a
- 5:16Speaker 2: layer of something keeping out the extra layer of sugar?
- 5:21Speaker 2: I'm sure there's plenty of sugar.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Don't you worry.
- 5:23Speaker 10: Oh no, they're soggy.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Yeah, they're supposed to.
- 5:26Speaker 2: So they're just going to turn into mush.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Here's some marshmallows.
- 5:30Speaker 3: You're still not finding them.
- 5:33Speaker 2: I have like eight cookies and no marshmallows. Oh, I
- 5:36Speaker 2: got them all.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Wow, they're like.
- 5:39Speaker 9: You can even like, they're like, they're like, really? Mm-hmm.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Okay, I'm giving up. Whoa. It's fine then.
- 5:45Speaker 5: I think Marlena got all the marshmallows.
- 5:49Speaker 1: It totally just disappears.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Mushy man graham crackers.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I'll check it.
- 5:55Speaker 9: They do, they melt in your mouth.
- 5:57Speaker 2: We'll balance it out with cookies. Of course, they have
- 5:59Speaker 2: to be Christmas themed.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Peppermint cookies.
- 6:03Speaker 1: What?
- 6:03Speaker 12: Peppermint.
- 6:04Speaker 13: Fuck.
- 6:05Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Pepperidge.
- 6:07Speaker 11: Oh, never mind.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Some sort of farm that makes cookies. Cookie farm. Cookie farm.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Cookie farm. It comes in the special bag.
- 6:16Speaker 3: We're not plugging anything, are we?
- 6:17Speaker 2: What are you talking about?
- 6:19Speaker 10: We have two cookies because Zach and I.
- 6:23Speaker 9: Cookie?
- 6:24Speaker 1: Yep.
- 6:25Speaker 9: Yeah, cookies.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Cookies that come with their own coffee filters.
- 6:30Speaker 9: I'm in for you. You get the leftover.
- 6:32Speaker 2: No, I'm going to put that in my coffee. There
- 6:35Speaker 2: you go. Man, fuck it. There's no way to describe
- 6:37Speaker 2: these without plugging them.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Special holiday peppermint Oreo.
- 6:42Speaker 9: Yeah, we are going to eat those.
- 6:44Speaker 2: I'm going to bark.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I feel like I'm going to puke for the last
- 6:47Speaker 1: several days.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Well, you came to the right place. Then you just
- 6:52Speaker 2: go ahead and puke.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I know.
- 6:54Speaker 14: No, not anymore.
- 6:55Speaker 10: We need to clean the floor, too.
- 6:56Speaker 9: Yeah, we used the Swiffer. The bathroom floor is so clean, too.
- 7:00Speaker 2: All right, I'm taking a seat. I'm going to the floor.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Cookie party.
- 7:04Speaker 9: I'm not entirely sure how I feel, but I love Oreos,
- 7:06Speaker 9: but these are just... I like Oreos.
- 7:08Speaker 1: I did persimmon cookies the other day.
- 7:10Speaker 15: They were really good.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Are these double-stuffed quantity cream? I don't think so.
- 7:14Speaker 16: I don't know.
- 7:15Speaker 9: They seem like it.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Well, they made the holiday-colored version, but they were still normal.
- 7:19Speaker 3: But I was like, eh.
- 7:20Speaker 9: They were still thick, though. Yeah.
- 7:22Speaker 3: But I was like, if we're going to get them,
- 7:24Speaker 3: because these are less. You've got to pay more for
- 7:26Speaker 3: this high-end, super-deluxe version. But I was like, if we're
- 7:29Speaker 3: going to get them for the special holiday festivities, we're
- 7:32Speaker 3: going to get the limited edition, they-only-make-these-at-Christmas kind of thing.
- 7:37Speaker 3: It's our usual specialty candy thing.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I've had as much sweets tonight as I had pork
- 7:43Speaker 2: at the Oscar party. That's how we roll. That's just
- 7:47Speaker 2: kind of how we operate.
- 7:49Speaker 9: Everything to excess.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Next year I'm bringing Braunschweiger to the party.
- 7:55Speaker 3: So are we ready to roll in the geek weeks?
- 7:59Speaker 3: Do you want to arm wrestle over who goes first?
- 8:02Speaker 3: We're continuing on, so... Marlena, are you ready for your
- 8:06Speaker 3: fun-filled Marlena moment?
- 8:08Speaker 1: My Marlena moment?
- 8:10Speaker 3: Is this a special holiday edition? Is it not holiday themed?
- 8:13Speaker 3: We can do it regular style.
- 8:17Speaker 1: It is really funny, though. It might not be funny.
- 8:20Speaker 3: It's funny the way your stories are funny.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I mean, it was really funny when I was telling
- 8:24Speaker 1: Bobby about it the other day, but I don't know
- 8:26Speaker 1: how funny it is now. It was like a week
- 8:27Speaker 1: ago now.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Alright, well, I'll introduce it either way. And now it's
- 8:31Speaker 3: time for a Marlena moment.
- 8:34Speaker 1: The other day I was walking my dogs and my
- 8:37Speaker 1: drunk gay neighbor stumbled upon me and he loves my
- 8:42Speaker 1: dogs and he loves me and he's like, oh my
- 8:44Speaker 1: god Marlena, I would love to walk your dogs with you.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Let me walk your dogs with you. And I was like, okay.
- 8:53Speaker 1: So we were walking around the block and my dogs
- 8:55Speaker 1: love him. They like take off and go towards him
- 8:58Speaker 1: when they see him in the yard. So of course
- 9:00Speaker 1: like It's opposite of productive if I'm just taking my
- 9:03Speaker 1: dog out to poop. She's not going to poop because she's, like,
- 9:07Speaker 1: so excited. So that's what happened. So we're walking through
- 9:11Speaker 1: the alley, and she sees, like, a cat turd or something.
- 9:16Speaker 1: She loves to eat cat poop. She's sophisticated. She's gross.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I have two dogs. One dog loves to eat poop.
- 9:23Speaker 1: The other one will eat poop if it's there, but,
- 9:27Speaker 1: you know, he's not as into it.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Has a little more sense.
- 9:29Speaker 1: He's not as ambitious.
- 9:31Speaker 9: At least she has a sense to be afraid of me.
- 9:33Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 9:34Speaker 1: So, we're walking through the alley, and Gogo finds, like,
- 9:37Speaker 1: this gigantic cat or dog or human turned. I don't know.
- 9:41Speaker 2: It was dark.
- 9:42Speaker 3: You were in Jeffersonville. Yeah, you were in Jeffersonville.
- 9:44Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Could have been the hot damn hobo's poop.
- 9:48Speaker 3: That sounds like a different story.
- 9:50Speaker 2: A hobo that likes hot damn.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Yeah, there's hot damn bottles all over. the alley behind
- 10:00Speaker 1: that house every day. I'm like, this has been going
- 10:04Speaker 1: on for four years.
- 10:05Speaker 2: You're hot damn.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Hot damn.
- 10:09Speaker 3: It's Marlena's house.
- 10:10Speaker 7: Yes.
- 10:14Speaker 2: I would love for a hobo to just slam down
- 10:16Speaker 2: the bottle out there, finish, and.
- 10:17Speaker 10: Go, hot damn!
- 10:18Speaker 1: I would love to see that. Actually, I want to
- 10:22Speaker 1: fucking know who's drinking all this hot damn. I want
- 10:24Speaker 1: to know who's drinking at least two bottles of hot
- 10:27Speaker 1: damn every night for at least four years and not
- 10:30Speaker 1: fucking died.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Basically, based on this week, it's Margot Kidder.
- 10:35Speaker 9: It's not the Jeffersonville Sasquatch.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Margot Kidder living in my alley? Maybe.
- 10:41Speaker 3: I just saw her a few weeks ago.
- 10:42Speaker 9: Maybe you can get an interview with her. Give her
- 10:46Speaker 9: some hot damn.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Hot damn.
- 10:48Speaker 11: Let's talk about Superman.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Anyway. So, Gogo stumbles upon this turd and she puts
- 11:00Speaker 1: it in her mouth and I didn't realize what she
- 11:03Speaker 1: had at first. I'm like, What do you have? And
- 11:06Speaker 1: Michael was like, oh, my God, go, go. Get that
- 11:09Speaker 1: out of your mouth. And tries to grab it out
- 11:11Speaker 1: of her mouth. And it's just like this turn. So
- 11:15Speaker 1: he gets it all over his hands.
- 11:17Speaker 3: This sounds like a scene from a John Waters movie.
- 11:20Speaker 1: It does. It gets so much better. It gets so
- 11:24Speaker 1: much better. He's really drunk, as usual.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Has he been the one drinking the hot day?
- 11:30Speaker 1: Maybe, but he's more of a peach schnapps man.
- 11:33Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 11:33Speaker 9: Maybe it's all our rules.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Hot damn, I like peach house.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Maybe it was his turn. Maybe.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 11:43Speaker 3: That would be like going to the house.
- 11:45Speaker 9: You're making me laugh so hard.
- 11:47Speaker 10: I can't breathe.
- 11:48Speaker 9: I got to shit. I'm drinking my hot chocolate if you.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Make me laugh.
- 11:52Speaker 9: I love it.
- 11:53Speaker 1: So, yeah, he gets poop all over his hand, and
- 11:56Speaker 1: then he's like, oh, you know, he's really drunk. Ten
- 12:00Speaker 1: seconds later, he forgets he has poop all over his hand.
- 12:04Speaker 1: He keeps trying to high-five me, which is so inconvenient.
- 12:10Speaker 1: He's like, because he's moving from the apartment that's behind
- 12:15Speaker 1: mine to the apartment directly above.
- 12:17Speaker 3: That's all you guys do is shift apartments. You've been
- 12:21Speaker 3: in tune, he's been in tune.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. And he was talking about redoing the garden.
- 12:28Speaker 1: He's moved his garden. And, you know, he just keeps
- 12:32Speaker 1: trying to high-five me, and he keeps scratching his nose
- 12:35Speaker 1: and his face. And I'm just like, ugh.
- 12:42Speaker 9: Could you at least at some point say, dude?
- 12:43Speaker 1: No, I couldn't do it.
- 12:45Speaker 9: I couldn't do it.
- 12:47Speaker 1: It would have just been more awkward.
- 12:48Speaker 3: God damn, you got shit on your face.
- 12:54Speaker 9: I would like to think that you would, like, call
- 12:55Speaker 9: me if that ever happened.
- 12:57Speaker 1: You would understand if you knew Michael.
- 12:59Speaker 9: If he deserved to have shit on his face.
- 13:02Speaker 8: No, no, no.
- 13:02Speaker 1: He doesn't deserve to have shit on his face. There's
- 13:04Speaker 1: just no stopping him. He's like a.
- 13:06Speaker 3: A shitstorm.
- 13:07Speaker 1: That doesn't even begin to describe it.
- 13:11Speaker 3: A force of nature.
- 13:12Speaker 13: He's a.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I mean, after, like, I don't know how many drinks
- 13:15Speaker 1: it takes, but after 5 o'clock, Like, you see him
- 13:19Speaker 1: come and you have to hide.
- 13:20Speaker 12: I mean.
- 13:20Speaker 1: That's gross. He'll try to rape your boyfriend.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Wow.
- 13:24Speaker 9: You have shit in your hot tub like this.
- 13:26Speaker 3: I know.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Mine's like a layer. I think Michael washed his hands
- 13:30Speaker 2: and like cut it.
- 13:33Speaker 1: God, it was so awkward. I didn't know what to do.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I didn't know what to tell him. Because I knew
- 13:38Speaker 1: even if I told him, he would have forgotten 10
- 13:40Speaker 1: seconds after.
- 13:41Speaker 3: It would have just.
- 13:42Speaker 1: It would have been like I would have had to
- 13:43Speaker 1: tattoo it on his hand.
- 13:45Speaker 9: You wouldn't see him do the shit.
- 13:48Speaker 1: That's true.
- 13:49Speaker 2: You guys want some more of these chocolatey cookies?
- 13:52Speaker 3: No.
- 13:52Speaker 2: I'm never putting that in, like, cocoa again. Damn it.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Goldfish, you suck.
- 14:00Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I got no marshmallows.
- 14:02Speaker 9: I offered you a ghost marshmallow.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Chocolate pudding at the bottom.
- 14:05Speaker 17: Yeah, really.
- 14:06Speaker 10: It turned into chocolate mush.
- 14:08Speaker 3: That's the bonus.
- 14:10Speaker 10: Well, they, like, hid.
- 14:11Speaker 5: They hid at the bottom of my chocolate mug until
- 14:14Speaker 5: I got down.
- 14:15Speaker 10: I was like, I thought I got them all.
- 14:16Speaker 5: Well, yeah, I thought I got them all, and I
- 14:18Speaker 5: got down, and then they were down at the bottom
- 14:20Speaker 5: waiting for me.
- 14:20Speaker 2: The murky depths.
- 14:21Speaker 3: They're sneaky fishes.
- 14:22Speaker 10: That's why I only put one fish in there. They
- 14:24Speaker 10: jumped my taste buds.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Right.
- 14:26Speaker 9: Only one fish for me. And I ate it right off.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I'm sure I have about ten more Marlena moments, but
- 14:32Speaker 1: that's the funniest one I can think of.
- 14:35Speaker 9: Holiday related?
- 14:37Speaker 2: She'll say no within five minutes from now.
- 14:41Speaker 8: I know.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I gotta carry a fucking notepad with me.
- 14:44Speaker 10: You should.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Don't you have an iPhone?
- 14:48Speaker 10: It doesn't have a notepad on it. It doesn't come
- 14:51Speaker 10: with a recorder built into it.
- 14:52Speaker 1: It does have a notepad, but... I don't have a pencil.
- 14:55Speaker 1: That's true.
- 14:56Speaker 10: I don't have that.
- 14:56Speaker 3: You're just talking to her.
- 14:58Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 14:59Speaker 1: That's true.
- 15:01Speaker 9: Okay.
- 15:01Speaker 3: That's it for you?
- 15:02Speaker 9: I think so.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Until something springs to your mind.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Until something else really funny I remember.
- 15:07Speaker 9: Great.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Oh, that's for me.
- 15:09Speaker 11: I guess.
- 15:10Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 15:11Speaker 11: Okay.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Well, whichever you want to do next.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Do you want to go and then I'll go?
- 15:16Speaker 3: Alternate out again.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Sure. Give people something to look forward to.
- 15:19Speaker 9: Give them time to think something else crazy.
- 15:21Speaker 8: Right.
- 15:22Speaker 2: So I actually have to talk about movies now. Or not.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Or poop. I don't have any good poop stories. Other
- 15:29Speaker 2: than the new neighbors that moved in. Their five-year-old slipped
- 15:33Speaker 2: and dog pooped in our backyard. It was hilarious. Playing
- 15:37Speaker 2: on the swing set with our kids.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Where you put all the landmines up. Right.
- 15:42Speaker 2: But they have dogs, so I'm not too worried about it.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Let's see. I watched movies. Not anything great, but.
- 15:54Speaker 2: I watched Jackass 3.
- 15:57Speaker 9: On purpose?
- 15:58Speaker 7: 3D?
- 15:58Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 15:59Speaker 3: But not so deep?
- 16:00Speaker 12: Right.
- 16:00Speaker 2: I honestly got about halfway through and I said, why
- 16:03Speaker 2: did I even start it?
- 16:05Speaker 11: You know.
- 16:06Speaker 1: My boyfriend said he saw that in a theater for
- 16:08Speaker 1: some strange reason. He said it was the best 3D
- 16:10Speaker 1: movie he's ever seen.
- 16:11Speaker 2: That's what I've heard, actually. I didn't have 3D.
- 16:15Speaker 3: I've heard the 3D technology they used was pretty impressive.
- 16:18Speaker 10: It's on my hard drive, and then Misty was like,
- 16:21Speaker 10: why is this on your hard drive?
- 16:22Speaker 11: And I was like, I don't know.
- 16:23Speaker 10: I might watch it sometime, but I'm not sure why.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Well, the best parts about it to me is they've got...
- 16:31Speaker 2: access to a really good super slow-mo camera. And so
- 16:36Speaker 2: when they hit each other in the face and you
- 16:38Speaker 2: see the ripples through their face, their nose move, that's
- 16:43Speaker 2: kind of fun. They're getting old, and it's kind of
- 16:48Speaker 2: getting a little pitiful, I think. And you can tell
- 16:51Speaker 2: that they just don't want to do it anymore. It's
- 16:53Speaker 2: just for a paycheck. and they don't really even like
- 16:57Speaker 2: each other, I.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Think, most of it anymore, so. That's what I heard,
- 17:00Speaker 3: and it's almost funny, because something like that, you would
- 17:02Speaker 3: think there's nothing to it except them being stupid, but
- 17:05Speaker 3: they were like, if you watch the trilogy of Jackass,
- 17:08Speaker 3: you really do see the arc of them, you know,
- 17:11Speaker 3: in the beginning, being young, stupid kids, and wanting to
- 17:13Speaker 3: do whatever the hell they wanted, and now they're old men,
- 17:15Speaker 3: and they're just like, oh, I broke 17 things off this,
- 17:18Speaker 3: and my back hurts, and I don't really even like
- 17:20Speaker 3: you motherfuckers, and There is almost like a story arc, too,
- 17:23Speaker 3: as you watch all three of them.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Like, Steve-O is sober, and he hates it. You can
- 17:29Speaker 2: tell he hates every second of it. He's disgusted by
- 17:33Speaker 2: what they're doing. He's afraid of pain. He just doesn't
- 17:35Speaker 2: want to be there. It's, you know.
- 17:38Speaker 10: Well, yeah, being sober makes you afraid of pain.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why they made him do all the stupid
- 17:42Speaker 3: stuff in the beginning.
- 17:43Speaker 2: He didn't know what was going on. Sure, okay, good. So,
- 17:48Speaker 2: you know... Beavis and Butthead were in the beginning of it.
- 17:51Speaker 2: That was pretty funny.
- 17:53Speaker 9: Is it funnier than what the show has become?
- 17:56Speaker 2: See, I don't have MTV, so I don't know.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Oh, you're not missing much.
- 17:58Speaker 9: Yeah, it's ridiculous.
- 18:00Speaker 2: The reboot's horrible. Butthead convinces Beavis that his fist is
- 18:05Speaker 2: in 3D. It's not a real fist, and he keeps
- 18:08Speaker 2: punching him with it. That's probably the funniest part of
- 18:10Speaker 2: the movie to me.
- 18:12Speaker 3: That says a lot.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Yeah, so I kind of questioned why I watched it.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Other than if you want to see it, you know,
- 18:20Speaker 2: falling apart, I think that's what it looks like to me.
- 18:23Speaker 2: It's kind of like the Swan Song film.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, it made a decent amount of money,
- 18:29Speaker 3: so they might be able to afford to do a
- 18:30Speaker 3: fourth one, but I don't know if they get convinced.
- 18:33Speaker 11: Right.
- 18:33Speaker 3: I guess enough money will make them come back, but
- 18:36Speaker 3: they're going to kill somebody. That will be like the
- 18:37Speaker 3: ultimate way to really the grand finale.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Four.
- 18:42Speaker 7: What?
- 18:43Speaker 9: You drink too many damn soft drinks.
- 18:45Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 18:46Speaker 6: What?
- 18:46Speaker 10: I don't care. I drink hardly zero. I drink zero
- 18:50Speaker 10: soft drinks.
- 18:51Speaker 11: Okay.
- 18:52Speaker 2: My grandma won here.
- 18:53Speaker 3: I can do what I want.
- 18:55Speaker 11: All right.
- 18:56Speaker 10: I rarely ever drink soft drinks.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Okay.
- 18:59Speaker 9: You're going to make up.
- 19:00Speaker 10: For it all in one night.
- 19:01Speaker 3: It's party.
- 19:02Speaker 2: It's the holiday party.
- 19:03Speaker 10: Would you rather me have like.
- 19:05Speaker 9: Four old Milwaukee's?
- 19:05Speaker 2: No, I guess I don't want to hear you complain
- 19:06Speaker 2: about it tomorrow.
- 19:07Speaker 9: Oh, I shouldn't drink a little soft drink.
- 19:09Speaker 2: I'll be okay. I don't want to hear you.
- 19:11Speaker 9: Complain about it.
- 19:11Speaker 3: I don't want to hear anything.
- 19:13Speaker 14: All right.
- 19:14Speaker 3: But, yeah, that will be the grand finale is when they, like,
- 19:16Speaker 3: end up killing Steve-O or Johnny finally, like, loses.
- 19:19Speaker 2: An arm or something. And Ryan Dunn's already dead, so.
- 19:23Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Who's dead?
- 19:25Speaker 2: Ryan Dunn with his beard.
- 19:27Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 19:27Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 19:28Speaker 2: He car crashed, I think.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:30Speaker 7: No.
- 19:31Speaker 9: It was a jacket. No, he was drunk and not driving.
- 19:34Speaker 9: He didn't fail. I can't feel sorry for him.
- 19:38Speaker 11: I'm sorry.
- 19:39Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 19:40Speaker 9: I'm not sorry. I can't feel sorry. I apologize for
- 19:43Speaker 9: my life.
- 19:43Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Don't be a drunk is the moral of that story.
- 19:46Speaker 9: I can't feel sorry for anybody that drinks and goes
- 19:49Speaker 9: out and gets themselves killed.
- 19:53Speaker 2: I watched Limitless.
- 19:55Speaker 3: I saw it on there.
- 19:56Speaker 2: I just haven't One and two. I've heard a lot
- 19:59Speaker 2: of people, because when I first saw the previews, I thought,
- 20:01Speaker 2: this is going to be horrible.
- 20:02Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 20:03Speaker 2: And I heard a lot of people say that it
- 20:04Speaker 2: was a lot better than they thought. That's what I've heard,
- 20:06Speaker 2: but I still couldn't make myself do it. Yeah, he
- 20:09Speaker 2: annoys the crap out of me, Bradley Cooper.
- 20:10Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 20:11Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 20:12Speaker 2: And the beginning of it was good. You know, it's about,
- 20:17Speaker 2: he takes a drug and it makes him, you know,
- 20:21Speaker 2: 20 times smarter than, you know, he uses the full
- 20:24Speaker 2: potential of his brain.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:26Speaker 2: And can learn any language, can trade stocks. Whatever he
- 20:30Speaker 2: wants to do, he can learn how to do. It's
- 20:35Speaker 2: almost like a superhero movie there at the beginning. It
- 20:38Speaker 2: has him off the drug and him on the drug.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Then it turns into your thriller-type movie of who's got
- 20:48Speaker 2: control and who's really.
- 20:49Speaker 10: The bad guy.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Is there a conspiracy?
- 20:52Speaker 3: Is there a grand conspiracy? corporation that's running everything.
- 20:57Speaker 9: With Umbrella doing it. Right.
- 21:00Speaker 3: It's the government slash the corporation.
- 21:01Speaker 2: And it does that stuff. And then it has this big,
- 21:05Speaker 2: you know, it's got kind of a, you know, you
- 21:09Speaker 2: feel it coming. It's going to have a twist. It's
- 21:11Speaker 2: going to have the cold reveal, or the, you know,
- 21:15Speaker 2: the big reveal of what, and instead of actually coming
- 21:19Speaker 2: out and saying what it is, it jumps to a
- 21:23Speaker 2: year in the future.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:25Speaker 2: And then kind of through the conversation lets you soft
- 21:30Speaker 2: your way and to learn your way into what the
- 21:32Speaker 2: twist is. And it just kind of falls flat, I thought. Visually,
- 21:38Speaker 2: there was some neat stuff, like when they're transforming from,
- 21:41Speaker 2: I guess, showing what maybe the feel of him going
- 21:47Speaker 2: into this drug state is. But it just.
- 21:52Speaker 2: It was a lot weaker than I thought it was
- 21:53Speaker 2: going to be. Robert De Niro's in it. It didn't matter.
- 21:59Speaker 3: He'll kind of show up for anything if you throw
- 22:01Speaker 3: a check. And no offense to him, I would too.
- 22:03Speaker 3: I mean, they're giving him probably a huge check to
- 22:06Speaker 3: do these little half-assed parts that all he has to
- 22:08Speaker 3: do is show up for a couple days and learn
- 22:10Speaker 3: some lines. And, I mean, he's in New Year's Eve
- 22:12Speaker 3: for fuck's sakes.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Everybody is. Yeah, I saw it.
- 22:16Speaker 3: But, I mean, everybody else, I'm just like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:18Speaker 3: I mean, all of it was like a checklist. Like,
- 22:20Speaker 3: I had no surprise on anything. And got to that one,
- 22:22Speaker 3: I was just like, oh, God. It was like they
- 22:24Speaker 3: wrote a good-sized check for that. So more power to him.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Cash in while you can. Check.
- 22:30Speaker 6: I don't understand.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Valentine's Day was so horrible.
- 22:33Speaker 2: That's why they made another one.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Because it made money.
- 22:36Speaker 9: I guess.
- 22:38Speaker 3: That's all it takes. Stupid or not, as long as
- 22:41Speaker 3: you make money.
- 22:42Speaker 2: But, yeah, it's not worth watching. I mean, I watched
- 22:46Speaker 2: it for free. It's not worth it. So I don't
- 22:50Speaker 2: think I watched anything else.
- 22:52Speaker 3: My wife is now.
- 22:53Speaker 2: We started watching Breaking Bad. I think I might have
- 22:56Speaker 2: mentioned that last time. We started watching that, and about
- 23:00Speaker 2: a week ago, we were sitting there, we were watching
- 23:03Speaker 2: a movie, and she goes, let's just start Firefly over again. Oh, yeah.
- 23:07Speaker 2: And she is not a sci-fi geek at all, and
- 23:10Speaker 2: that show... Because I kept saying, you have to watch it,
- 23:13Speaker 2: you have to watch it. Finally, about a year ago, she...
- 23:18Speaker 2: We watched the entire thing. Now she wanted to watch
- 23:21Speaker 2: it again. Now she's like, well, we could watch Battlestar Galactica.
- 23:26Speaker 3: You suckers.
- 23:27Speaker 2: She's converted.
- 23:29Speaker 10: The old one or the new one?
- 23:31Speaker 2: I haven't seen any of the new ones.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Everybody likes the new one.
- 23:33Speaker 2: I've heard that it's one of the best sci-fi shows.
- 23:36Speaker 3: I'm going to be a geek, though.
- 23:37Speaker 9: I'm going to be an old school geek. I've heard it's...
- 23:41Speaker 9: I'm not saying.
- 23:44Speaker 3: They're not both worth watching, but I think Again, I
- 23:47Speaker 3: haven't watched it yet, but it's one of those I
- 23:49Speaker 3: do kind of want to, just from what I've heard
- 23:51Speaker 3: story-wise and character-wise. They really put a lot of time
- 23:54Speaker 3: into it.
- 23:55Speaker 9: Are you confused?
- 23:57Speaker 2: Noah Hathaway was a kid on that?
- 23:58Speaker 3: He was bossy.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Oh, hell, man.
- 24:00Speaker 10: I totally forgot about that.
- 24:02Speaker 9: Why am I not surprised?
- 24:03Speaker 3: I would have said something to him at the other
- 24:06Speaker 3: convention when I was talking to him.
- 24:09Speaker 10: I used to watch that show all the.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Time when I was a kid.
- 24:12Speaker 2: It was just cheesy. Cheesy.
- 24:15Speaker 3: It was the only sci-fi we had on TV at
- 24:18Speaker 3: the time, really.
- 24:18Speaker 12: I'm not expecting grand scale.
- 24:22Speaker 10: I loved the Cylons back then.
- 24:25Speaker 2: I had the little... The ship?
- 24:28Speaker 10: It shot missiles.
- 24:29Speaker 2: The wings would open up and each one had a
- 24:31Speaker 2: missile under it.
- 24:31Speaker 5: I had that and I had the... What was the
- 24:34Speaker 5: fighter called? The Viper?
- 24:36Speaker 3: What were they called? I just had the little action
- 24:40Speaker 3: figure guy. That was awesome, too, because he was shiny.
- 24:42Speaker 2: The only thing the Cylon did is it bent in half.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Its legs kicked up just so that it could sit
- 24:48Speaker 2: in the seat.
- 24:48Speaker 5: Well, that was the same thing with the fighter. The
- 24:51Speaker 5: fighter guys, the good guys, they were the same thing.
- 24:53Speaker 5: Their legs just went like that. You set them in
- 24:55Speaker 5: there and it had a rocket.
- 24:56Speaker 2: In the front. That shot out the... Yeah.
- 24:58Speaker 10: That was back when toys were cool.
- 25:00Speaker 2: They shot rockets and shit.
- 25:02Speaker 3: You can't do that now. You're getting choked.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Choked on it.
- 25:07Speaker 12: Died.
- 25:07Speaker 3: I'm going to make.
- 25:09Speaker 9: A shit up or are you telling the truth?
- 25:10Speaker 10: No, that's why they quit.
- 25:11Speaker 11: Okay.
- 25:12Speaker 10: Producing toys like that. I don't remember if it was a.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 25:16Speaker 5: I'm sure somebody knows out there. I heard different things.
- 25:18Speaker 5: I heard it was the Boba Fett rocket pack.
- 25:21Speaker 3: I don't think that ever got made.
- 25:23Speaker 10: I don't think that ever got.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Made, yeah.
- 25:24Speaker 10: The thing that I think it was was I think
- 25:26Speaker 10: it was a.
- 25:28Speaker 10: Shogun Warrior, maybe?
- 25:29Speaker 2: Probably, because I've got.
- 25:31Speaker 11: One of those.
- 25:31Speaker 5: Aphrodite A or something like that with the tits missiles?
- 25:35Speaker 10: I think one of them shot down a kid's throat.
- 25:38Speaker 3: The main leader, Shogun, had the fists that shot the rocket.
- 25:41Speaker 9: Never mind.
- 25:41Speaker 11: What?
- 25:42Speaker 9: Did it shoot into the kid's mouth or wasn't there one?
- 25:45Speaker 10: He had his mouth on the nipple.
- 25:47Speaker 2: A kid dying from Aphrodite A's tit missile shooting down
- 25:50Speaker 2: his throat would be awesome. That kid's a legend now.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Of course every kid wanted to do that. That's living.
- 25:59Speaker 3: That's the way to go.
- 26:00Speaker 2: For that instant he was alive. He was dead. Truly dead.
- 26:06Speaker 5: I don't remember exactly what it was but anyways a
- 26:09Speaker 5: kid choked on one of the missiles like that which
- 26:12Speaker 5: is why they quit producing toys that shot little missiles.
- 26:15Speaker 5: because i remember getting the transformers i remember the transformers
- 26:20Speaker 5: they still had shooting missiles but they.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Were weak yeah they didn't shoot so.
- 26:24Speaker 5: What i used to do my dad was my dad
- 26:27Speaker 5: always had tons of like uh hardware and shit in
- 26:30Speaker 5: the garage i would take them apart and upgrade the
- 26:33Speaker 5: springs on them before the fuckers would shoot Because they
- 26:36Speaker 5: used to put these little weak-ass.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Springs in it.
- 26:38Speaker 10: Not mine.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Mine would put out.
- 26:40Speaker 10: A fucking eye.
- 26:40Speaker 9: I'm wondering you're alive.
- 26:43Speaker 10: I fixed that shit.
- 26:44Speaker 5: I know, with all the fucking shit that I caught
- 26:46Speaker 5: on fire and blew up.
- 26:48Speaker 9: All the trips to the hospital.
- 26:49Speaker 2: All the trips to the hospital.
- 26:50Speaker 11: Stitches.
- 26:53Speaker 2: All the broken bones.
- 26:56Speaker 10: Now they hurt every morning.
- 26:59Speaker 3: I get up and I'm like, oh. Why did I
- 27:01Speaker 3: do all that shit?
- 27:03Speaker 11: Oh, shit.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:08Speaker 9: A hijacker story.
- 27:09Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean, it was limitless. I don't know where, why.
- 27:13Speaker 9: Battlestar Galactica.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Battlestar Galactica. Oh, yeah, we'd like to start watching it.
- 27:16Speaker 2: I just haven't yet, so.
- 27:17Speaker 9: You were talking about how awesome Firefly was, and then
- 27:19Speaker 9: you said she liked watching Firefly.
- 27:20Speaker 11: It is awesome. I know.
- 27:21Speaker 2: That's the thing. It's more fun the third time. I
- 27:25Speaker 2: do like Firefly.
- 27:26Speaker 9: I've only watched it once. Maybe after we finish Supernatural.
- 27:29Speaker 2: We'll go back and watch it again.
- 27:30Speaker 9: No, then we need to finish watching Dexter, and then
- 27:32Speaker 9: work our way through Firefly.
- 27:33Speaker 14: Okay.
- 27:33Speaker 2: You've got a lot of work to do.
- 27:35Speaker 9: Dude seriously that's a lot of work yeah got three
- 27:38Speaker 9: seasons of Dexter to get through oh jeez.
- 27:43Speaker 2: And uh that yeah that's that's my life alright I'm
- 27:47Speaker 2: usually too tired to watch anymore so.
- 27:50Speaker 3: I only get through a couple things a week at
- 27:52Speaker 3: this point.
- 27:52Speaker 18: So I know what you're talking about kids shows see
- 27:57Speaker 18: enough of that shit your favorites yeah oh I did
- 28:00Speaker 18: go see the Muppet movie how was that Yeah, Marlene
- 28:03Speaker 18: has mentioned it.
- 28:04Speaker 2: I loved the Muppet movie as.
- 28:06Speaker 11: A kid, so.
- 28:08Speaker 2: This was good for me. I'm sorry? The almost pointless
- 28:12Speaker 2: cameos that are in it, that's always fun. I thought
- 28:15Speaker 2: the humor was nice, and maybe too much forced nostalgia,
- 28:20Speaker 2: I think.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:21Speaker 2: I mean, when it's about nostalgia, but.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Yeah, it was fun, and you know, I had the thought, well,
- 28:30Speaker 2: my kids are going to hate this because they don't
- 28:32Speaker 2: know anything about the Muppets. And they really enjoyed it.
- 28:36Speaker 3: It's kind of good to see that, again, because there
- 28:40Speaker 3: aren't that many puppet-based shows anymore, are there?
- 28:43Speaker 2: The great thing is, too, is.
- 28:44Speaker 10: You get to go back and rent all the old, well,
- 28:46Speaker 10: rent or download all.
- 28:48Speaker 5: The old Muppet movies and go back and watch them.
- 28:52Speaker 10: Izzy's watched a lot of the old Muppet movies. Muppets
- 28:55Speaker 10: in Space and Stuff like that.
- 28:58Speaker 9: Was that one guy any less annoying than he is
- 29:01Speaker 9: on How I Met Your Mother?
- 29:02Speaker 2: I really don't like that.
- 29:04Speaker 9: He's like the weakest part of the How I Met
- 29:06Speaker 9: Your Mother.
- 29:07Speaker 3: That's Kobe. Oh, really?
- 29:11Speaker 2: I don't think she's carried... Well, what's his face?
- 29:13Speaker 3: The architect guy. He's definitely the weakest link.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Oh, oh, oh. The one married to Lily.
- 29:22Speaker 10: Oh, that guy.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah, okay.
- 29:24Speaker 3: I don't like him.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Marshall.
- 29:25Speaker 9: Yeah. I like It's All About Barney.
- 29:27Speaker 2: It is all about Barney.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Barney's carrying a show on his back. Barney is the,
- 29:32Speaker 2: you know, the... Should be how I met Barney.
- 29:34Speaker 11: Right.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Well, it's like what they've done with Big Bang Theory.
- 29:38Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 29:38Speaker 9: But it's different because at least Barney's awesome. Right.
- 29:42Speaker 3: Usually somebody hijacks the show. Barney's the Michael J. Fox
- 29:46Speaker 3: of this family dies. He just took over.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Yep, my show.
- 29:49Speaker 11: Whatever.
- 29:50Speaker 9: But it's awesome.
- 29:51Speaker 3: You guys are lame.
- 29:51Speaker 9: Yeah, everybody has on their little... Allison Hannigan's okay.
- 29:56Speaker 3: Yeah, see, I like her. I'm okay with Marshall, but again,
- 29:59Speaker 3: in small doses. It's the Barney show.
- 30:02Speaker 1: I love the one for Nick Tarrant Marshall.
- 30:03Speaker 9: I haven't seen that one yet, even though it has
- 30:05Speaker 9: adorable Veronica Morrison.
- 30:07Speaker 1: It's so funny.
- 30:08Speaker 2: She's not very adorable in that movie.
- 30:10Speaker 9: That's probably part of why I haven't seen it yet.
- 30:12Speaker 9: And I really don't like Russell Brand.
- 30:14Speaker 14: Oh, yeah.
- 30:14Speaker 2: He's in small doses, though.
- 30:16Speaker 1: He's hilarious. He's supposed to be an asshole douche that
- 30:18Speaker 1: you hate. So it's still funny.
- 30:22Speaker 2: What acting?
- 30:24Speaker 1: Like, my favorite part, he's like, and I didn't think
- 30:27Speaker 1: I had to tell you herpes because I haven't had
- 30:29Speaker 1: an outbreak.
- 30:31Speaker 3: Perfect.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Yeah, if you want to see Jason Segel's wiener, you
- 30:36Speaker 2: can watch that.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it was kind of an awkward moment.
- 30:43Speaker 9: Yeah. Yeah, you're not showing me.
- 30:46Speaker 1: It's so funny. It's a great movie. Hmm.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Yeah, go, because I'm done.
- 30:52Speaker 1: I also saw the Muppet movie. I liked that they
- 30:56Speaker 1: changed their clothes, like, every five seconds. Like, they were
- 30:59Speaker 1: constantly wearing different outfits, and for some reason that was
- 31:03Speaker 1: really exciting for me.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Yeah, that's weird. Normally they never, other than Piggy, they
- 31:07Speaker 3: never had another.
- 31:08Speaker 10: Outfit, really.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Well, like Amy Adams and Jason Segel.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Those are people, they don't count.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Like, every scene they had a different outfit on.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Humans are lame.
- 31:17Speaker 3: And her dresses were.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Really cute, so it was.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Did they focus on her ass a lot?
- 31:22Speaker 1: No, a lot.
- 31:23Speaker 2: That's pretty much what's carrying her career.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Her ass?
- 31:26Speaker 3: That's what carried her through those stupid Night in the
- 31:28Speaker 3: Museum movies.
- 31:32Speaker 2: She does a single number, a singing.
- 31:35Speaker 1: The Me Party song.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Right, the Me Party. And it is such a I'm
- 31:39Speaker 2: gonna go masturbate song. She's basically talking about it's a
- 31:44Speaker 2: party about me and I'm gonna pleasure myself kind of thing.
- 31:48Speaker 2: It's not supposed to be like that.
- 31:49Speaker 1: That's kind of awkward, yeah. If you weren't watching it
- 31:51Speaker 1: and you were listening to that song, you'd be like Hmm.
- 31:54Speaker 2: This is the divinals?
- 31:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Hey, those are awesome.
- 31:58Speaker 1: But that song made me really happy. It was hilarious.
- 32:01Speaker 1: It was my favorite song in the whole movie. I
- 32:04Speaker 1: don't really remember much about it. I saw it on Thanksgiving,
- 32:06Speaker 1: so I was, like, stuffed full of, like, turkey and stuff.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Turkey coma.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a turkey coma. Um, yeah.
- 32:14Speaker 19: Yeah.
- 32:15Speaker 1: I've been watching a lot of Party Down. I finally
- 32:17Speaker 1: finished both seasons. It's always sad for me to finish
- 32:20Speaker 1: a season of anything because then it's just like I
- 32:22Speaker 1: have to run something else to watch.
- 32:23Speaker 3: Because most shows don't come back.
- 32:26Speaker 9: I've never heard of this show.
- 32:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I've told you. You need to watch it because
- 32:30Speaker 3: it's basically a reunion for Veronica Mars. At some point
- 32:36Speaker 3: she comes... Who's the... What's Beaver's brother? The surfer douche?
- 32:40Speaker 1: Dick.
- 32:41Speaker 3: He is actually really good on this. I mean, he's
- 32:44Speaker 3: still kind of a surfer.
- 32:45Speaker 2: Douche, but.
- 32:48Speaker 3: They give him a little more to do, and he's
- 32:50Speaker 3: pretty damn entertaining, I have to say. I did not
- 32:53Speaker 3: expect to like him, and he carries more than I expected.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Jane Lynch is on it.
- 32:58Speaker 1: I don't like her. I guess she left and went
- 33:01Speaker 1: and did Glee or one of the other million things
- 33:03Speaker 1: that she does. It's got Ken.
- 33:08Speaker 3: Yeah, the other investigator guy. What is his last name?
- 33:13Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Oh, from the state? From the state.
- 33:15Speaker 3: He's it. But Veronica's dad's in an episode. Steve Guttenberg's
- 33:21Speaker 3: in an episode. Is that his name?
- 33:23Speaker 14: I don't remember.
- 33:24Speaker 9: I love Veronica.
- 33:26Speaker 3: So yeah, seriously, like every episode, I'm like, oh, look,
- 33:28Speaker 3: it's somebody else from Veronica.
- 33:29Speaker 9: On this episode.
- 33:31Speaker 3: There's only two.
- 33:32Speaker 9: Is it still on?
- 33:34Speaker 3: No, it was going to come back for a third,
- 33:36Speaker 3: and Adam Scott got hired to be on Parks and Rec,
- 33:39Speaker 3: which is a massively bigger show.
- 33:41Speaker 9: I would be so sad if I watched it then.
- 33:44Speaker 9: I would get attached.
- 33:45Speaker 3: No, it's worth it. I mean, I'm midway into the
- 33:48Speaker 3: first season still, and I'm just like, this is possibly
- 33:50Speaker 3: the best.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Show that's ever been made.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Lizzie Kaplan, who's so pretty, I love her.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Oh, God, I love Lizzie Kaplan.
- 33:54Speaker 1: See, there's this episode where the main guy is dating
- 33:58Speaker 1: Veronica Mars. Her name's Uta on the show, and she's
- 34:01Speaker 1: like a horrible bitch. Veronica Mars is a horrible bitch?
- 34:08Speaker 3: But Lizzie Kaplan's Janissian.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Remember Janissian?
- 34:12Speaker 3: Like from the movie Genesee?
- 34:14Speaker 9: No.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I don't know what you're talking about.
- 34:17Speaker 3: Mean Girls.
- 34:19Speaker 10: Oh, yeah.
- 34:20Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 34:20Speaker 1: You remember in Mean Girls, she was like her, like.
- 34:23Speaker 3: The not preppy friend, the semi-gop. I don't remember.
- 34:28Speaker 1: And she was also, you remember that show, the.
- 34:30Speaker 9: I've only seen it once.
- 34:32Speaker 3: She's on the freaking vampire show, yeah.
- 34:36Speaker 1: She was Jason's girlfriend that he was in love with.
- 34:39Speaker 11: Dark Hair.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Oh, I hated her. No, she's awesome.
- 34:43Speaker 9: I hated her on True Blood.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Well, I haven't seen her on True Blood, but she's awesome.
- 34:46Speaker 1: That's true. But, um, what else was she... She was
- 34:48Speaker 1: in that show, The Pits.
- 34:50Speaker 3: God, I love it. The, like, five episodes of that show.
- 34:54Speaker 2: I thought that was awesome.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Or she was, like, dating the car.
- 34:56Speaker 2: That show was so ridiculous. I love Fox. They'll put
- 35:01Speaker 2: anything on.
- 35:02Speaker 3: Especially Fox in, like, the 90s.
- 35:05Speaker 2: They're like, you got a show?
- 35:07Speaker 11: Good enough.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Green light.
- 35:08Speaker 3: Go for it.
- 35:09Speaker 6: But, um.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Yeah, but he had to choose between, like, basically he
- 35:13Speaker 1: had to choose between Lizzie Kaplan and Kristen Bell. I'm like,
- 35:15Speaker 1: how do you decide? And why are you so fucking lucky,
- 35:20Speaker 1: you weird-looking dude?
- 35:21Speaker 15: Like, really?
- 35:22Speaker 3: He's so damn funny, though.
- 35:23Speaker 11: He is awesome.
- 35:24Speaker 3: Because I've seen enough.
- 35:25Speaker 1: He's endearingly cute, too.
- 35:27Speaker 3: I ignored Parks and Rec for, like, years, or however
- 35:30Speaker 3: long it's been on, a year or two years, maybe.
- 35:32Speaker 3: And I was just like, eh, whatever. It looks like
- 35:34Speaker 3: they're just trying to rip off The Office. So I
- 35:37Speaker 3: finally started watching a few episodes. It's so much funnier
- 35:40Speaker 3: than The Office ever was.
- 35:41Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 35:42Speaker 3: I'm not a big Office fan, I know. I mean,
- 35:44Speaker 3: there's a few people I like on there, but I
- 35:46Speaker 3: just have never been on board for The Office. Parks
- 35:49Speaker 3: and Rec is so damn funny, and it's got that, like,
- 35:52Speaker 3: Party Down vibe to it, and a lot of it
- 35:55Speaker 3: is that Adam Scott delivery. He's really good.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Who's Adam Scott?
- 35:59Speaker 9: That sounds familiar.
- 36:02Speaker 3: Oh, he's in Piranha, but he didn't. He's in a
- 36:05Speaker 3: bunch of stuff now.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Is that what the guy's name is? Adam Scott?
- 36:09Speaker 3: That's like his actual name.
- 36:10Speaker 1: I didn't know what his real name was. He's in...
- 36:13Speaker 1: He always plays a dick on whatever he's doing.
- 36:15Speaker 9: Wasn't he on an episode of Veronica Mars?
- 36:17Speaker 6: Probably.
- 36:18Speaker 2: I'm again.
- 36:19Speaker 3: I mean, the producer of Veronica Mars is the guy
- 36:22Speaker 3: who made Party Down.
- 36:22Speaker 9: He was the teacher, wasn't he?
- 36:25Speaker 2: The cool guy.
- 36:25Speaker 3: Wasn't he a cool teacher that got accused of having
- 36:29Speaker 3: sex with the girls? I'm pretty sure that's him.
- 36:31Speaker 1: He was like the asshole brother in like Step Brothers.
- 36:34Speaker 1: I think, right? Or is it somebody else?
- 36:37Speaker 20: I don't know.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Whatever, he's just this dude. He's funny.
- 36:42Speaker 3: Okay, move on.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Yeah, so I ran out of episodes of that, so
- 36:46Speaker 1: I've had to settle for the Sarah Silverman program, which
- 36:50Speaker 1: is not that funny, but it puts me to sleep.
- 36:52Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 36:54Speaker 9: I would probably just start watching them over. I get
- 36:55Speaker 9: attached to shows. Again, I'm watching Supernatural from the beginning again.
- 37:00Speaker 9: I can't stop watching it now. I can't. I would
- 37:04Speaker 9: get sad.
- 37:05Speaker 2: I love Brian Posehn on that show, on the Sarah
- 37:10Speaker 2: Silverman program.
- 37:12Speaker 11: He's so not.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Do you know when Klaus is kind of funny?
- 37:13Speaker 15: The bearded guy?
- 37:14Speaker 2: Yeah, he's so not gay and plays a king.
- 37:17Speaker 6: Yeah, I know.
- 37:17Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 37:18Speaker 3: That's kind of why it's awesome.
- 37:20Speaker 11: Right?
- 37:20Speaker 1: I mean, there's definitely good parts about the show, but,
- 37:23Speaker 1: I mean, for the most part, it's kind of annoying.
- 37:26Speaker 2: I don't know. That's Sarah Silverman's thing. For the most part,
- 37:29Speaker 2: she's annoying.
- 37:30Speaker 3: I'm kind of annoying, but I'm funny and I'm kind
- 37:32Speaker 3: of cute, so what are.
- 37:33Speaker 11: You going to do? Yeah.
- 37:35Speaker 1: God, I've totally watched way more stuff. I'll watch the
- 37:38Speaker 1: movie Insidious.
- 37:40Speaker 9: I heard it was awesome.
- 37:41Speaker 1: I really liked it.
- 37:42Speaker 3: I've had a couple people tell me it was good.
- 37:45Speaker 1: At certain points, but I thought it was really good.
- 37:47Speaker 1: It was pretty scary. I watched it during the day.
- 37:49Speaker 1: I can only watch horror movies during the day.
- 37:51Speaker 3: I watch them at night.
- 37:53Speaker 1: You have someone to sleep in your room with you.
- 37:56Speaker 9: I don't. You have your dogs. Good luck with that.
- 38:02Speaker 9: You'll wake up in the middle of the night and
- 38:04Speaker 9: your dog's eating your food or something.
- 38:06Speaker 1: I lock him in the kitchen.
- 38:07Speaker 9: And that sound wakes you up after watching a scary movie.
- 38:11Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 38:13Speaker 1: No, I live alone. I can't watch a scary movie
- 38:15Speaker 1: by myself. My boyfriend doesn't like scary movies and I
- 38:17Speaker 1: don't really get to watch them very much. It kind
- 38:21Speaker 1: of sucks.
- 38:23Speaker 9: You're not much of a horror fan, are you? I mean,
- 38:24Speaker 9: you like them every once in a while, but usually
- 38:25Speaker 9: if I'm like, what do you want to watch? You
- 38:27Speaker 9: usually pick like a comedy or an action movie.
- 38:30Speaker 10: It depends on what kind of mood I'm in. I'm
- 38:32Speaker 10: always like, horror movies.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Yeah, horror movies are okay. They're my favorite.
- 38:40Speaker 14: I know.
- 38:40Speaker 2: I like a movie. I don't prefer gore movies. I
- 38:44Speaker 2: like something that's truly scary. It's just creepy.
- 38:47Speaker 10: See, that's what I like.
- 38:49Speaker 6: I like.
- 38:52Speaker 10: I don't know, like psychological thrillers.
- 38:54Speaker 2: I like horror movies.
- 38:56Speaker 9: I don't like torture porn or anything.
- 38:58Speaker 10: Yeah, I don't like that. I don't like torture porn.
- 39:01Speaker 9: What do you know.
- 39:02Speaker 2: Like Saw? You didn't care about that?
- 39:04Speaker 1: No, I don't care about that.
- 39:06Speaker 2: I like old, old horror movies.
- 39:09Speaker 9: I like horror movies. I like old ones, too.
- 39:12Speaker 1: And I don't have cable, so I kind of try
- 39:14Speaker 1: to catch this. And this is not really a work-appropriate show,
- 39:17Speaker 1: so I can't just watch the show at work, even
- 39:19Speaker 1: though it's on FX. But I really want to watch
- 39:22Speaker 1: American Horror Story.
- 39:23Speaker 9: I've heard really good things about it.
- 39:24Speaker 1: Yeah, it's pretty convoluted from what I can tell.
- 39:27Speaker 9: I'm okay with that.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Yeah but I mean it's pretty good like it's got
- 39:32Speaker 1: a lot of scary stuff to it like I think
- 39:35Speaker 1: everybody knows I'm really afraid of pigs. And there's this
- 39:38Speaker 1: episode called Piggy Man.
- 39:40Speaker 9: I was going to post this video on your Facebook page.
- 39:43Speaker 9: It was a pig that apparently had lost its back leg,
- 39:46Speaker 9: so it was running on its front leg, so it
- 39:47Speaker 9: had its ass up in the air.
- 39:48Speaker 10: And I was trying to get her to post it,
- 39:53Speaker 10: and she wouldn't do it. And I was like, I'll
- 39:56Speaker 10: post it.
- 39:57Speaker 2: But then I felt really bad, and I didn't post it.
- 40:00Speaker 1: No, but there's this episode of... Like, a couple weeks ago,
- 40:03Speaker 1: my dog peed on my pillow because he was mad
- 40:06Speaker 1: at me. He's really bad. But, um, he's so cute, though.
- 40:10Speaker 6: But, uh.
- 40:11Speaker 9: I don't care how cute something is. I put the
- 40:13Speaker 9: pee on my pillow. His ass is gone.
- 40:14Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Um, yeah, he peed on my... You better not pee
- 40:17Speaker 1: on my pillows.
- 40:18Speaker 2: What? Don't pee on the pillows.
- 40:22Speaker 1: But, uh, so I had to sleep at a friend's house, and, um.
- 40:25Speaker 9: Do you have any more pillows?
- 40:27Speaker 1: Well, he peed on my pillow, my mattress pad, and
- 40:29Speaker 1: my comforter. Mainly he peed on my pillow and it
- 40:31Speaker 1: soaked through. And it was, like, 1030 at night, so
- 40:34Speaker 1: it's not like I could just, like, wash it right
- 40:36Speaker 1: then and there. But, um, so I had to stay
- 40:38Speaker 1: at a friend's house and I watched a couple episodes
- 40:41Speaker 1: of American Horror. And one of them was one about,
- 40:44Speaker 1: it was called Piggy Man. And every time the guy,
- 40:47Speaker 1: he was, like, it was, like, Bloody Mary, but this
- 40:49Speaker 1: guy was, like, standing in front of a mirror and
- 40:51Speaker 1: say something about Piggy Man. And I had to, like,
- 40:53Speaker 1: plug my ears and bury my face in the pillow.
- 40:56Speaker 9: Like, I can't.
- 40:56Speaker 3: What's this?
- 40:57Speaker 9: Yeah, I do eventually want to see that show. I've
- 40:59Speaker 9: heard it's really interesting. I heard they just did one
- 41:01Speaker 9: with it involved, like, Black Dahlia or something.
- 41:03Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:03Speaker 1: That's what I've heard. It's really weird. There's, like, a
- 41:06Speaker 1: lot of different ghosts and things like that. And people
- 41:08Speaker 1: at work talk about it, and I can't even follow
- 41:11Speaker 1: what they're talking about. It's so confusing.
- 41:13Speaker 2: I'm like, what?
- 41:14Speaker 1: And that person's a ghost, and then... this other person
- 41:17Speaker 1: is killed and buried under the gazebo and what?
- 41:20Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 41:20Speaker 9: Again, it's one of those that I'll have to wait
- 41:22Speaker 9: until it's done and over and I can get the
- 41:24Speaker 9: entire series and sit down and watch it all at once.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I definitely feel like I totally have
- 41:30Speaker 1: had to watch more things in, like, the last month,
- 41:32Speaker 1: but I'll be damned.
- 41:34Speaker 9: If I can remember any of it.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Too much sugar.
- 41:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 41:39Speaker 1: You know, like, my boyfriend keeps trying to get me
- 41:42Speaker 1: to watch stuff that I really don't want to watch
- 41:44Speaker 1: at all.
- 41:44Speaker 2: Like, I don't know.
- 41:46Speaker 1: I fell asleep watching Apocalypse Now. He's like obsessed with
- 41:49Speaker 1: making me watch that.
- 41:50Speaker 9: I like how Jay's obsessed with making me watch that
- 41:53Speaker 9: fucking movie with Alan Rickman and Tim Allen.
- 41:57Speaker 2: I'm not obsessed with it anymore.
- 41:58Speaker 10: You sat and watched.
- 42:00Speaker 5: We sat and you watched like five minutes of it
- 42:03Speaker 5: and you didn't care so I turned it off.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Galaxy Quest.
- 42:07Speaker 9: Oh, Galaxy Quest.
- 42:07Speaker 2: That's a good movie.
- 42:08Speaker 9: I hate that.
- 42:09Speaker 5: She couldn't make it through the first five minutes and
- 42:11Speaker 5: I was like, you know what? Nah, it wasn't even
- 42:13Speaker 5: ten minutes.
- 42:14Speaker 1: Isn't Professor Snape in that?
- 42:16Speaker 9: Yes I'm sorry I totally have to tear a thing
- 42:19Speaker 9: about it I haven't watched it either I have no.
- 42:22Speaker 5: Desire to see it can't get her to watch Conan
- 42:24Speaker 5: either I have no.
- 42:25Speaker 12: Desire to watch Conan or most things that involve fucking
- 42:31Speaker 12: Sylvester Stallone or Arnold Schwarzenegger I'm okay.
- 42:35Speaker 9: With some good movies if it had like Dolph Lundgren
- 42:37Speaker 9: I'd probably watch it I love Dolph Lundgren if it
- 42:39Speaker 9: had Jean-Claude Van Damme I love Jean-Claude Van Damme except
- 42:43Speaker 9: for in JCVD I could not get into that one
- 42:45Speaker 9: I just don't like.
- 42:47Speaker 10: We will watch Cyborg then.
- 42:49Speaker 9: Okay.
- 42:49Speaker 10: That's got Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph.
- 42:53Speaker 11: Lundgren in it.
- 42:53Speaker 10: Oh, fuck yeah.
- 42:54Speaker 9: I'll watch the hell out of that movie.
- 42:55Speaker 10: There we go.
- 42:55Speaker 9: I don't know what I just got myself into.
- 42:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:00Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 43:00Speaker 2: You heard it. On air.
- 43:02Speaker 13: Okay.
- 43:02Speaker 3: That's Albert Pune. We talked to him.
- 43:04Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 43:05Speaker 2: I think next time you're on the show you have
- 43:07Speaker 2: to have a review.
- 43:08Speaker 10: Or not Cyborg.
- 43:08Speaker 2: Did I say Cyborg? I'm sorry.
- 43:10Speaker 9: You said Cyborg.
- 43:11Speaker 10: Universal Soldier.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Oh.
- 43:12Speaker 1: Okay.
- 43:13Speaker 10: Sorry.
- 43:13Speaker 3: That is a two-for-one special, though.
- 43:15Speaker 10: Sorry about that.
- 43:16Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 43:17Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 43:17Speaker 5: Because right now at home, somebody's going, no, that's Universal Soldier,
- 43:20Speaker 5: you dumbass.
- 43:21Speaker 9: Yeah. Who's in Cyborg?
- 43:23Speaker 10: Jean-Claude Van Damme. Nobody else?
- 43:25Speaker 3: Dolph Lundgren.
- 43:26Speaker 9: Oh.
- 43:26Speaker 10: Is Dolph Lundgren in Cyborg?
- 43:29Speaker 2: No, Universal Soldier. Universal Soldier.
- 43:30Speaker 9: Who else is in Cyborg, though?
- 43:32Speaker 2: No, she has Cyborg. Nobody. It's just of Jean-Claude Van
- 43:35Speaker 2: Damme vehicle.
- 43:37Speaker 9: Okay.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:38Speaker 14: No.
- 43:39Speaker 2: Don't worry about getting those confused. I said Hame was
- 43:42Speaker 2: in Can't Buy Me Love, and that was Patrick Dempsey.
- 43:46Speaker 2: It's the same fucking movie, though. I don't know. It
- 43:49Speaker 2: just seems like Hame was in it.
- 43:52Speaker 9: He was in a lot of things. I've never seen
- 43:56Speaker 9: that movie. Maybe he had a small role.
- 43:57Speaker 2: That I saw. No, that was Patrick Dempsey.
- 44:00Speaker 9: Maybe he had a small role.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Seth Green was in it, too.
- 44:04Speaker 10: He was the little brother.
- 44:05Speaker 1: Oh, shit. I love that movie.
- 44:08Speaker 13: Wow.
- 44:09Speaker 10: Had Allison Hannigan in it, too.
- 44:10Speaker 2: I'm not going to watch it again to confirm it,
- 44:12Speaker 2: but okay.
- 44:12Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 44:12Speaker 14: Yeah, wow.
- 44:13Speaker 1: I always thought Allison Hannigan was Seth Green. Yeah, we're
- 44:16Speaker 1: going to hate you, Rachel. I know. Is Seth Green gay?
- 44:19Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Huh?
- 44:21Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 44:22Speaker 9: Allison Hannigan married that one guy, though, so I think
- 44:24Speaker 9: she's already taken. What one guy? Alexis Benesoff, who was
- 44:27Speaker 9: Wesley on Angel.
- 44:28Speaker 3: They have a kid now.
- 44:29Speaker 2: At least one.
- 44:30Speaker 9: I thought they had two.
- 44:30Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 44:31Speaker 2: I saw her carrying one the other day.
- 44:32Speaker 9: What's your name?
- 44:33Speaker 1: Ira?
- 44:34Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 44:36Speaker 9: Is that a Korean one?
- 44:38Speaker 1: In real life? Like, Sarah the Kroger?
- 44:40Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 44:40Speaker 2: She lives down in Trader Joe's.
- 44:43Speaker 10: Seth Green's just a free man.
- 44:44Speaker 21: He just, you know.
- 44:46Speaker 9: No, he got married. He married some girl.
- 44:47Speaker 10: Oh, he did?
- 44:48Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Okay, well, Seth Green's not a free man.
- 44:51Speaker 1: I don't know why I think all these, like, random child...
- 44:53Speaker 1: I think if you were a child actor, you're probably gay.
- 44:56Speaker 3: I don't know why that's... You have issues.
- 44:58Speaker 2: Like, a big box is gay.
- 45:00Speaker 10: Gary Coleman wasn't gay.
- 45:02Speaker 3: He was short.
- 45:05Speaker 2: Maybe he should have been gay.
- 45:08Speaker 3: Everybody on that show had issues of some sort, so
- 45:10Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 45:11Speaker 1: I mean, if they want to be gay, that's fine.
- 45:16Speaker 3: Yeah, that would have been a good thing on the
- 45:19Speaker 3: side of everybody on that show. Everybody on that show
- 45:22Speaker 3: had so many real issues, like, that doesn't even count.
- 45:25Speaker 3: That's just your life. But they had real problems. Yeah,
- 45:29Speaker 3: there was no good on that.
- 45:30Speaker 2: It would have turned out better if you were gay.
- 45:33Speaker 3: I don't know about that.
- 45:34Speaker 2: Well, I'm just kidding. If that was your only problem... I.
- 45:37Speaker 3: Don't know if that's a problem.
- 45:39Speaker 6: Well, I.
- 45:39Speaker 3: I think it's... Yeah, I think, yeah, they had way
- 45:44Speaker 3: bigger things to deal with.
- 45:45Speaker 1: I think it's just because I'm pretty sure... What's his
- 45:49Speaker 1: face that I was talking about earlier? Elijah Wood is gay.
- 45:52Speaker 1: Macaulay Culkin, like Missy said, he might not be gay.
- 45:55Speaker 1: He's just kind of pale. He's really effeminate, and it
- 45:58Speaker 1: might just be because of Party Monster.
- 46:00Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 46:01Speaker 1: I don't follow his life.
- 46:02Speaker 2: I don't know that I ever saw him as being effeminate, even.
- 46:06Speaker 9: Really?
- 46:08Speaker 3: Once he got older, as a kid, he was just
- 46:10Speaker 3: a goofy kid. By the time he hit those weird
- 46:13Speaker 3: indie movies, I was like, yeah, kind of, but I
- 46:16Speaker 3: don't really know what's.
- 46:17Speaker 10: Going on with him.
- 46:19Speaker 1: I don't know if he's gay or not.
- 46:20Speaker 9: But it's important. It's not going to change my view
- 46:22Speaker 9: of him as an actor.
- 46:23Speaker 2: No, it's not.
- 46:24Speaker 9: Right.
- 46:24Speaker 10: I like being praised.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Was it praised?
- 46:27Speaker 9: Saved.
- 46:27Speaker 2: Saved.
- 46:28Speaker 10: Sorry.
- 46:29Speaker 3: Wow. He's pretty damn entertaining and saved.
- 46:32Speaker 11: Yeah, whatever.
- 46:33Speaker 1: No, I was just thinking like... weird how many gay
- 46:38Speaker 1: guys i've loved in my day like without even realizing
- 46:41Speaker 1: they were gay like all the all the boys are
- 46:44Speaker 1: you just making it up that's what i'm trying to
- 46:47Speaker 1: figure out because like my i think the first boy
- 46:50Speaker 1: i ever had a crush on in like preschool he
- 46:53Speaker 1: was like my gay best friend and i'm just like
- 46:56Speaker 1: did i always.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Like gay dudes is cocaine abdicay yes he is sort
- 47:01Speaker 2: of oh sort of.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Which cocaine Abe?
- 47:07Speaker 3: The dead one or the one on the wall?
- 47:09Speaker 2: Which cocaine Abe is dead?
- 47:10Speaker 9: This is a legitimate question.
- 47:12Speaker 3: You have a complicated life.
- 47:13Speaker 11: I do.
- 47:14Speaker 10: Wow.
- 47:15Speaker 2: Hey, everybody.
- 47:16Speaker 3: Cocaine Abe.
- 47:17Speaker 2: Which cocaine?
- 47:18Speaker 3: Which one?
- 47:19Speaker 2: The gay one.
- 47:20Speaker 11: Which one?
- 47:21Speaker 2: The one that works at the bar.
- 47:23Speaker 9: I'm going to go tell him you said it.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Black cocaine Abe or white cocaine Abe?
- 47:28Speaker 3: When you're done with your questions for me, I've got
- 47:31Speaker 3: one for you. Are you gay?
- 47:33Speaker 9: My friend Marlena wants to know because she made out
- 47:35Speaker 9: with you once.
- 47:36Speaker 11: Right.
- 47:37Speaker 9: She's making a list.
- 47:38Speaker 1: I mean, to clarify things, I usually refer to dead
- 47:41Speaker 1: Abe as Glampaw. Okay.
- 47:44Speaker 9: Okay.
- 47:46Speaker 1: I mean, if this conversation ever comes up again.
- 47:49Speaker 9: I don't think that it will.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Anytime I see a hobo riding a bike, I think
- 47:55Speaker 1: about grandpa.
- 47:56Speaker 9: How often do you see hobos riding bikes? I think hobos,
- 48:01Speaker 9: I think too poor to own a bike.
- 48:04Speaker 2: Or I think stick with a handkerchief.
- 48:07Speaker 9: On a train.
- 48:07Speaker 1: Hobos really did that. Like hot damn bottles. Maybe he
- 48:13Speaker 1: was the hot damn hobo, but no, he's dead.
- 48:16Speaker 9: He's got a hot damn hobo ghost.
- 48:21Speaker 5: He's leaving those hot damn bottles to show that he cares.
- 48:25Speaker 10: He's hot damn it.
- 48:29Speaker 3: I need my bike.
- 48:30Speaker 1: It's the only way I have to get to work.
- 48:33Speaker 9: Yeah, that's what he did.
- 48:35Speaker 2: Pupils don't have jobs.
- 48:37Speaker 6: He did.
- 48:38Speaker 3: This is full of holes.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Sorry, it's a long story and I'm real tired. Oh,
- 48:45Speaker 1: that's another show.
- 48:48Speaker 9: We haven't even started on the movie part.
- 48:49Speaker 3: I didn't even know we were having a story still.
- 48:53Speaker 1: I forgot about that. Let's get that.
- 48:55Speaker 3: We spiraled off into areas I don't even understand.
- 48:58Speaker 9: We're going to make this as long as the first one.
- 49:01Speaker 1: It's gonna be dawn by.
- 49:02Speaker 3: The time we're done. Did you finish your kiwi?
- 49:05Speaker 1: I'm just gonna stop talking. I'm tired. My dog's probably
- 49:10Speaker 1: really mad at me.
- 49:11Speaker 10: Probably pooped all over the place.
- 49:13Speaker 2: Have Milo come over and clean it up.
- 49:14Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 49:16Speaker 9: Oh my god.
- 49:20Speaker 2: And clean it up.
- 49:21Speaker 14: Oh my God.
- 49:22Speaker 1: Please edit the show so I don't sound like I
- 49:24Speaker 1: hate gay people.
- 49:26Speaker 9: Good luck with that.
- 49:26Speaker 3: What kind of magical tool do you think I have?
- 49:32Speaker 2: What was that? It was on YouTube.
- 49:34Speaker 10: It had that guy and he's.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Like, oh my god, I got poop on my hand.
- 49:37Speaker 3: Oh, it's in my mouth.
- 49:39Speaker 12: I don't know.
- 49:40Speaker 2: It sounds like YouTube to me. I don't remember.
- 49:43Speaker 10: I don't remember what it was.
- 49:45Speaker 9: I vaguely remember that moment.
- 49:47Speaker 2: I think I blocked it.
- 49:47Speaker 10: The guy's like, oh my god, it's shit.
- 49:49Speaker 2: He's like, oh, it's on my hand.
- 49:52Speaker 10: Oh, it's all over my face.
- 49:54Speaker 3: I don't remember.
- 49:56Speaker 2: You'd have to be on drugs to do that.
- 49:58Speaker 10: It was fucking hilarious though.
- 50:03Speaker 2: The stripes.
- 50:04Speaker 9: Alright.
- 50:05Speaker 12: Alright.
- 50:06Speaker 3: Geek week rounded out there.
- 50:08Speaker 1: I said I'm just going to stop talking.
- 50:10Speaker 14: Alright.
- 50:12Speaker 3: We'll take a break and be back with this week's movie.
- 50:15Speaker 3: Not all the air would give me.
- 50:16Speaker 1: This much sugar. My teeth feel like sandpaper.
- 50:41Speaker 3: Does nobody see Santa on Christmas when he steals down
- 50:48Speaker 3: the chimney with care?
- 50:51Speaker 2: Wouldn't it be so.
- 50:52Speaker 8: Revealing if Santa had black kinky hair?
- 50:57Speaker 1: I know his cheeks would be rosy.
- 51:02Speaker 4: But still you could tell the man was cold.
- 51:05Speaker 2: When you saw his red underwear peeking.
- 51:09Speaker 10: From under his soulful jelly roll.
- 51:12Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 51:15Speaker 8: Come into your town. Gonna party it down. Got the kiss.
- 51:39Speaker 11: Oh, cartons of camels are sure to please. Besides, they
- 51:43Speaker 11: look so handsome under Christmas trees. So easy to give,
- 51:48Speaker 11: so good to get. Give camels the nation's favorite cigarette. Ho, ho, ho.
- 51:54Speaker 11: It's gift-packed, ready to give, with a space for your greeting.
- 52:08Speaker 6: Greetings to Father, who works all year for the family
- 52:12Speaker 6: and outdoes himself at this joyous season with lots of
- 52:15Speaker 6: surprises for everyone. Greetings to Mother, that miracle worker of
- 52:20Speaker 6: the home whose loving efforts seem sometimes like magic. And
- 52:24Speaker 6: greetings to little brother, usually a terror, but somehow since
- 52:28Speaker 6: he visited Santa at the department store, he's not been
- 52:31Speaker 6: himself at all. Greetings to sister, who was so busy
- 52:34Speaker 6: decorating the house with mistletoe and then seemed to forget.
- 52:38Speaker 11: It was there.
- 52:39Speaker 6: Greetings to grandma, grandpa, and all your uncles and aunts.
- 52:43Speaker 6: May you gather around the table for your Christmas feast
- 52:46Speaker 6: in the joyous tradition. What we want to say is
- 52:49Speaker 6: that the management and staff of this theater... All of
- 52:52Speaker 6: us wish all of you good luck, good health, good times,
- 52:57Speaker 6: and a very merry.
- 53:03Speaker 22: Christmas.
- 53:16Speaker 13: I'm listening to Movie Meltdown because I'm John Saxon and
- 53:20Speaker 13: I like to do that.
- 53:35Speaker 11: It's time for sofa theater.
- 53:39Speaker 10: Hi what's up have you seen claire today no she
- 53:43Speaker 10: went home no she didn't no one knows where she is.
- 53:47Speaker 19: Are you serious I thought maybe she was with you,
- 53:50Speaker 19: or at least you might have heard from her.
- 53:51Speaker 20: No, not since last night.
- 53:55Speaker 1: Well, her father came to pick her up at one
- 53:57Speaker 1: o'clock today, and she didn't show.
- 54:00Speaker 3: So he went down to.
- 54:00Speaker 16: The police station with Phil and Bob.
- 54:03Speaker 6: What happened?
- 54:05Speaker 1: They didn't take it seriously.
- 54:07Speaker 10: Why?
- 54:08Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 54:11Speaker 22: I think they figured she was shot up somewhere.
- 54:14Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 54:18Speaker 8: Thank you.
- 54:28Speaker 4: I'm dreaming of a black, black Christmas Black smoke glows
- 54:32Speaker 4: against the midnight sky I'm dreaming of a black, black
- 54:37Speaker 4: Christmas Black smoke glows against the midnight sky All alone,
- 54:43Speaker 4: drowning in my sorrows Christmas time always brings my sadness
- 54:49Speaker 4: home A child is born on Christmas Day What movie
- 54:54Speaker 4: did you watch?
- 54:58Speaker 2: Black Santa.
- 55:07Speaker 8: Black Santa.
- 55:11Speaker 2: Jesus.
- 55:11Speaker 10: Fuck me, Black Santa.
- 55:23Speaker 3: Welcome back to Movie Meltdown's Sofa Theater.
- 55:25Speaker 2: Are you okay?
- 55:29Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm fine. Way too much sugar.
- 55:34Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 55:35Speaker 2: This week's Sofa Theater feature is Black Christmas.
- 55:38Speaker 3: The year is 1974.
- 55:39Speaker 2: Director Bob Clark.
- 55:41Speaker 3: The plot, according to IMDb, a sorority house is terrorized
- 55:45Speaker 3: by a stranger who makes frightening phone calls and then
- 55:47Speaker 3: murders the sorority sisters during Christmas break. So with that
- 55:52Speaker 3: Although that kind of tells you a lot of it.
- 55:54Speaker 3: Spoiler alert, so go watch this, the original Black Christmas,
- 55:58Speaker 3: before you get all up into this.
- 56:00Speaker 2: Calls, murders.
- 56:02Speaker 3: Before we get all up into this, we do have
- 56:04Speaker 3: a One from the Vaults memory from Mr. John Saxon himself.
- 56:09Speaker 2: You were there for it, Jay.
- 56:10Speaker 3: I'm excited.
- 56:10Speaker 2: Yes, I was. You actually remember this?
- 56:13Speaker 11: No, no.
- 56:13Speaker 2: Yes, I do.
- 56:13Speaker 3: It was John Saxon, he said.
- 56:15Speaker 2: No, I remember this.
- 56:16Speaker 3: All right, so let's hear from John himself.
- 56:23Speaker 2: What was that like?
- 56:24Speaker 13: Well, I got a call from my agent to tell
- 56:27Speaker 13: me about this script that had come. I read it,
- 56:30Speaker 13: and I thought it was very interesting.
- 56:32Speaker 2: They made a deal. I thought they had made a deal.
- 56:38Speaker 13: Then all of a sudden I got a call and
- 56:42Speaker 13: I found out that some of the people involved with
- 56:46Speaker 13: that picture had already planned to use Edmund O'Brien. So
- 56:54Speaker 13: I was out with the picture for about a week.
- 56:59Speaker 13: What had happened was I got the call back saying,
- 57:02Speaker 13: can you come up in a couple of hours to Toronto?
- 57:07Speaker 13: Edmund O'Brien was no longer feeling well. And so I
- 57:12Speaker 13: went up and flew up to Toronto, arrived about midnight,
- 57:16Speaker 13: and went to work about 3 in the morning in
- 57:19Speaker 13: a park, a frozen park, and started to work on
- 57:24Speaker 13: that film. And I thought it was a very good film.
- 57:28Speaker 14: I enjoyed it.
- 57:29Speaker 13: The director was terrific.
- 57:31Speaker 2: The script was great.
- 57:33Speaker 16: Well, that's what I was going to ask. Working with
- 57:34Speaker 16: Bob Clark, what was he like as a director?
- 57:37Speaker 2: Well, we headed off very well.
- 57:39Speaker 13: I remember he thought I was kind of, I don't know,
- 57:43Speaker 13: wanting to be patting myself on the back. He had
- 57:46Speaker 13: managed to look at the sheets of times of takes
- 57:50Speaker 13: and so on, and that I had always made one
- 57:53Speaker 13: or two takes, not four, five, ten, sometimes they would happen.
- 57:58Speaker 13: He said, you've got an extraordinary kind of thing going.
- 58:00Speaker 13: I said, oh, that's great. And we were friends. What
- 58:03Speaker 13: happened afterwards, he came, the film was finished, I was
- 58:06Speaker 13: back living in Los Angeles where I lived. We became
- 58:12Speaker 13: friendly and he came over and he told me that,
- 58:15Speaker 13: oh God, what's happening is Warner Brothers has taken the
- 58:19Speaker 13: rights to the picture for the United States and they've
- 58:22Speaker 13: changed the title from Black Christmas to, the title has
- 58:29Speaker 13: changed three times. I don't remember what the hell it
- 58:31Speaker 13: was called.
- 58:33Speaker 2: And why?
- 58:34Speaker 13: Because they thought that the title Black Christmas meant that
- 58:40Speaker 13: it was going to be about black people at Christmas time.
- 58:43Speaker 13: So they were changing the title, which screwed up the
- 58:47Speaker 13: pictures deal in America because they already had sent the
- 58:51Speaker 13: picture out with another title. Another company took it and
- 58:55Speaker 13: took it, a European, and it was doing very well there. Otherwise,
- 59:00Speaker 13: the film would have been much better, made much more money.
- 59:04Speaker 13: Warner Brothers screwed it. Then, as a result, what happened
- 59:09Speaker 13: other people were making the same kind of a film
- 59:12Speaker 13: with a different title.
- 59:13Speaker 16: That's what it was massively influential, yeah. So many after
- 59:17Speaker 16: that tried to copy it.
- 59:19Speaker 13: Meanwhile, I still think it's a very, very interesting story,
- 59:22Speaker 13: the way it was directed. And now that there was
- 59:25Speaker 13: another version of it being made... I watched it, and
- 59:28Speaker 13: I didn't think it was as good as the one, honestly,
- 59:31Speaker 13: the one that we had done.
- 59:32Speaker 10: Because it didn't have John Saxon in it.
- 59:38Speaker 3: Damn straight, didn't have John Saxon in it. All right,
- 59:42Speaker 3: so thank you once again to John for sitting there
- 59:45Speaker 3: and putting up with us. Even though it was cold.
- 59:47Speaker 2: It was very cold.
- 59:48Speaker 11: It was.
- 59:49Speaker 2: The man was shivering.
- 59:50Speaker 1: Where were you?
- 59:53Speaker 2: Cincinnati. You know how cold it is in Cincinnati.
- 59:56Speaker 10: Well, no, he was sitting underneath an AC vent.
- 59:59Speaker 2: You just said it like, in the Arctic. You know, Cincinnati.
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: You know, when we went to that Arctic festival where
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: they show the movies.
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: All right, so now it's our turn.
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: Where would you like to begin with Black Christmas?
- 1:00:15Speaker 9: How awesome Bob Clark is.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: Yeah, do you want to start with the Bob Clark thing?
- 1:00:20Speaker 9: I don't know. That's all I got.
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: Bob Clark's awesome. He is awesome.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: I mean, he made.
- 1:00:25Speaker 9: There's two awesome Christmas movies that he's done that are
- 1:00:27Speaker 9: so drastically polar ends opposite.
- 1:00:30Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: What was the other one he did?
- 1:00:32Speaker 9: Christmas Story.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: He's the director of Christmas Story.
- 1:00:35Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 1:00:35Speaker 12: Geez, really?
- 1:00:36Speaker 14: Yes.
- 1:00:36Speaker 10: Oh, man. I love Christmas Story.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: It's the most perfect Christmas movie.
- 1:00:42Speaker 12: It is.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: And this kind of, in its own way, is, I mean, it's,
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: for what it's trying to do, it's amazing how well
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: put together this is. Well, when did this come out?
- 1:00:52Speaker 13: 74.
- 1:00:52Speaker 9: 74.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: So that was before.
- 1:00:54Speaker 10: Yeah, it's pretty good for 74.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: I couldn't even fall asleep when I wanted to.
- 1:01:02Speaker 9: That's saying something when even you can't fall asleep.
- 1:01:04Speaker 21: Right.
- 1:01:04Speaker 9: Because you fall asleep during almost every movie.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: You just fall asleep in stuff you want to watch.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: I know. And I've seen this movie, like, lots.
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: Well, Bob Clark is, like, I think one of the
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: most overlooked directors. Like, I mean, nobody really talks about him.
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: If they do, it's usually, like, in reference at this
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: point to Christmas Story. But, like, he made a good
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: amount of movies. But, I mean, even if he only
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: made three movies, let's look at the legacy that he
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: left us. I mean, he made two films that are
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: massively influential and spawned countless, like, other films that were
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: trying to do what he did. He made Black Christmas, which,
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: in my mind, totally, like, revolutionize the horror industry like
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: it was pre as much credit as everybody wants to
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: give to John Carpenter and Halloween it was well before
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: Halloween came out and was doing the same POV shots
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: the same creepy guy lurking around your house I mean
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: granted there were other ones before that but the way
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: that this one's done is really kind of that mold
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: that so many other slashers ended up taking from and
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: all the creepy guy in the house movies and the
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: babysitter movies and everything started stealing from this as time
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: went on So I think just from that horror angle,
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: he totally sort of changed the way that horror movies
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: were made after that. The second one, I'm not as
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: huge a fan of, but I will say it's massively influential. Also,
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: oddly enough, the director of Porky's arguably invented the teen
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: sex genre.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: And if not, it certainly did for the 80s.
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: And launched the thousand of knockoff teen sex comedies. Oh, yeah,
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: They're still making rip-offs.
- 1:02:40Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: And the thing is, I mean, his weren't that bad. Like,
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: if you look at that versus all the other knock-offs,
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: I mean, he got roped in with the knock-offs. But
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: if you watch that, like, that's the thing. I was
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: thinking Black Christmas is way more different stylized than Christmas Story.
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: But if you look at Porky's versus Christmas Story, you
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: kind of see elements there. Like, it's still this, like, really, like,
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: sort of wholesomeness to it. And, you know, they're just
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: trying to get laid. But at the same time, the characters...
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: are kind of good kids and they kind of want,
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: you know, it's still got that like, what was it,
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: like early 60s or something it was set in. So
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: it's kind of got that Americana feel to it that's
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: still the same thing at the core of Christmas Story.
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: So you can at least see that's the same director.
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: It's a weird, raunchier version, obviously. But you can at
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: least see there's parallels there. So, I mean, yeah, just
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: those two ended up sort of changing both genres that
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: he made it in. And that's not even including the
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: legendary at this point. I mean, the fact that A
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: Christmas Story has been so far woven into pop culture,
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: you couldn't remove it at this point. I mean, its
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: influence is, like, huge.
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: A huge part of A Christmas Story is the Gene
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: Shepard writing. Yeah. And even narration. But, yeah, oh, yeah,
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: the direction of it. Because the book is just a
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: collection of stories that... And because most of those stories
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: don't happen around Christmas, but they lump them all together
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: to make, you know.
- 1:04:11Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: So, yeah, it's a good, it's a great movie.
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: But you can see his influence and how much of
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: a difference it made because they made that other, like,
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: summer story or whatever it was that's still Gene Shepard.
- 1:04:24Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: And it's still, you know, him.
- 1:04:25Speaker 9: It's got a Culkin in it.
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: Yeah, it's him doing those same stories, but it's not
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: the same. I mean, it's just not even close to
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: what happened. can't and again it was sort of that
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: perfect storm of you know those those stories darren mcgavin
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: like a great cast all around but darren mcgavin more
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: than any and and bob clark coming in and kind
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: of putting his his spin on it and i don't
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: know it's just i think for those three movies alone
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: he does not get enough credit because i mean that.
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: They're massively influential.
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: In in you know our lifetime and and unfortunately he
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: can't make any more now but I don't know. I
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: kind of, it's, it's amazing how much he gets overlooked
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: as a, as a competent director.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: You know, looking back, cause I had not seen this one, um,
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: till today. And, um, you know, when you watch it
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: out of time, out of real timeline sequence with the
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: world and history of film, you think, Oh, this is
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: just a rip off or this is just not a
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: rip off, but it's just, um, almost cookie-cutter scenarios. Yeah.
- 1:05:33Speaker 20: And.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: But there's a reason it is.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: There's a reason it is. It's because, yeah, it's... It
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: was the first one to do.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: What they made them all from.
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: Exactly. So.
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: That's hard to put yourself in that line of thinking
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: as a first view without.
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: And maybe that's why they had to do their cheesy remake,
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: which I haven't watched, I will say. So I'm going
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: to watch it in the near future just because I'm
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: a geek and I watch most movies if I can.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: So.
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: But, I mean, maybe that's why they felt like kids
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: couldn't relate to that. It was too cliche at this point.
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: They need to update it or something. It's coming from
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: inside them. Again, I mean, even that gets credited to
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: another movie that kind of ripped it off. I mean,
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: that usually gets credited to that one of Stranger Calls.
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: The one that's, I think, Carol Kane's in it, and
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: it's the babysitter. That one's more the babysitter in the house,
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: and it's, you know, we traced the call, you know.
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: What year was that?
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: That was 1979. And that's the one everybody goes to
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: for that, it's coming from inside the house.
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: But, you know, really?
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: It's straight up out of this. And yeah, that's the
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: one that sort of got more attention. And even that,
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: people are kind of like, oh yeah, what movie was that? So,
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: I mean, it's like.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: I don't know. Even this one doesn't get.
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: The credit, especially, I think, for the Halloween thing. I mean,
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: don't get me wrong, Halloween is genius and definitely was
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: massively influential.
- 1:06:58Speaker 9: But it's not original.
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: But it's, yeah, that's the thing. Well, I mean, it's
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: not like he totally invented it. I mean, was it P.B.
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: Tom kind of used POV that was, and it's sort of,
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: I think, the very first time that they sort of
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: referenced that, but. still, the way that this is done,
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: and the way that, you know, they kind of work
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: in that whole same, you know, in the house, killing girls,
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: you know, it's still, it's definitely very similar to what
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: he ended up doing, and here's the weird part, I
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: don't know if you've ever heard this, I just heard
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: this when I was checking on it today, that they
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: asked Bob Clark, I mean, they kind of have this opening,
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: and one of the guys was like, hey, you know,
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: are you going to do a sequel, a In general,
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: he was like, are you ever going to do a sequel?
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: And he's like, I don't really want to do sequels,
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: and I just want to get away from horror. I
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: set out to be a director, not a horror director,
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: so I want to start doing other things, which obviously
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: he did a lot of other things in different genres.
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: But he said, if I was going to do a sequel,
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: what I was going to do was have the guy
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: sort of get caught and get thrown in an asylum,
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: have it be the next fall, and he breaks out
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: that night, and he goes out, and he's out in
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: the town sort of terrorizing the town, and goes back
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: to find, you know, her or the, you know, whoever,
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: and sort of get in the house and terrorize them again,
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: and it was going to be on Halloween, and he
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: was going to call it Halloween.
- 1:08:23Speaker 11: Wow.
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: So it was supposed to be that Christmas to Halloween. Like,
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: he was going to wrap both of them up into
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: one thing, and he said he was going to call
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: it that before Halloween.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: Ever came about.
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: And even he was like, I can't believe somebody hadn't
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: already done a movie called Halloween. When he thought of it,
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: he was like, I can't believe somebody hadn't already done that.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: So again, no offense to Carpenter, he does a phenomenal movie.
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: He winked at me and it was creepy.
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: It was creepy. I had nightmares.
- 1:08:52Speaker 9: I still wake up in a cold sweat. And not
- 1:08:56Speaker 9: in a good way.
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: Yikes.
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: That is almost... you know, yeah.
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, so much of that, like even the
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: breaking out of the asylum thing, I mean, so much
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: of that sort of comes into play.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: It might be the remake of this movie. I swear, like,
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: there's like a guy with like a skin disorder. I
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: think Or it's like a spin-off of this or something
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: like that. But there's a guy with a skin disorder
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: and he lives in the attic and he's like yellow
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: and he banged his mom at some point and he's
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: fucked up and he's killing people.
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: If this isn't a movie, start writing it.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: No, it is a movie. I know it is. I
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: want to say it's the remake, but I can't remember.
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: I'd have to watch it.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: He's yellow.
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: Yellow bastard in the attic?
- 1:09:50Speaker 12: Oh, man.
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: I just... Anybody you know named Billy, it's just hard
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: to not say Billy.
- 1:09:59Speaker 15: Oh, Billy.
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: Billy.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: It's impossible.
- 1:10:02Speaker 9: Can we talk about.
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: Olivia Hussey now?
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: Your favorite person?
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: She was gorgeous. She was, and especially in that era,
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: I mean.
- 1:10:13Speaker 9: She was a horrible actress.
- 1:10:14Speaker 20: Hello?
- 1:10:16Speaker 10: Hello?
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: Hello?
- 1:10:18Speaker 9: Hello?
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I was thinking.
- 1:10:20Speaker 9: Where is she from? Have you looked it up yet?
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: Yeah, again, we were trying to figure out.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: Wait, I'm going to guess she's Welsh. No.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: Argentinian. Ah, that's what I was going to say. Argentina.
- 1:10:32Speaker 9: Horrible actress. Absolutely gorgeous.
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: I mean, she.
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: And that's the thing. I think it's almost the, like...
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: a cultural thing, maybe?
- 1:10:39Speaker 20: Bad acting?
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: Well, no, because that's the thing. I remember, like, it
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: was probably maybe high school when they had us watch
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: Romeo and Juliet, and I was like, that sort of
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: won me over. I was like, all right, this Shakespeare
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: ain't so bad, because goddamn she's hot in that movie.
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: She'd get naked in it. I think she was in that.
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: They had to cut that out in high school and
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: watched it.
- 1:11:00Speaker 17: Well, no, see, now, I'm thinking the one that we
- 1:11:04Speaker 17: saw when we were in high school was, Whoever it
- 1:11:07Speaker 17: was that played Juliet got out, and there was, like,
- 1:11:09Speaker 17: full frontal nudity.
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: It might be.
- 1:11:12Speaker 10: It's been a while since I've seen her.
- 1:11:12Speaker 5: And it was not cut out of our high school version,
- 1:11:14Speaker 5: because I know everybody was like, damn!
- 1:11:16Speaker 10: And my English teacher was like, oh, my God, oh,
- 1:11:18Speaker 10: my God! I think she rented the wrong version.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: I was about to say, like, they've never seen Romeo
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: and Juliet.
- 1:11:23Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: Shouldn't they be in charge of it?
- 1:11:25Speaker 5: I think she got the wrong version. She got the
- 1:11:28Speaker 5: non-rated version, and everybody was like, yeah!
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: Good going.
- 1:11:34Speaker 14: So, yeah, I mean.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: All the boys excused themselves.
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: I don't remember her being that bad. Granted, it's been
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: a long time since I've seen it, but I don't
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: remember being that bad in it. So maybe it's just,
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: I mean, something like that is very proper and stupid. And,
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: you know, it's like there's a way that you could
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: do that with the way she delivers stuff that I
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: think would work. And I was almost thinking even in
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: something like if she was in a Jane Austen or,
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: you know, it's like if she was doing that kind
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: of stuff, I think she could pull it off. I
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: think she just maybe, again, it's that cultural thing. She
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: does not seem American and she does not seem like
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: a young American college girl. I mean, she just does
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: not come off that way. So, I mean, she is
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: functional in this movie, but yeah, she's definitely the least
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: believable of any of them.
- 1:12:23Speaker 9: I didn't like that her hair didn't have a part
- 1:12:24Speaker 9: for most.
- 1:12:25Speaker 6: Of the movie.
- 1:12:25Speaker 9: That bugs the hell out of me.
- 1:12:27Speaker 10: She really.
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: No, go ahead. Keep going.
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: She really looks exactly like the girl in that episode
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia where, like, Mac is
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: banging the girl that works at the abortion clinic and
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: she tells him that she's pregnant but she's not just
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: because he's, like, convinced her that he's, like, strongly against
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: abortions and that he wants to fight abortion clinics and
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: stuff like that. So I think it's hilarious in this
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: movie her only goal is to have an abortion.
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:12:55Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:12:56Speaker 10: And how messed up is that?
- 1:12:57Speaker 5: Because usually in most movies, it's like, you know, she's pregnant,
- 1:13:00Speaker 5: she tells her boyfriend, and he's like, what's his reaction?
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: You gotta get rid of that shit.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: He goes, fantastic! That's awesome!
- 1:13:07Speaker 10: You're pregnant?
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: That's great!
- 1:13:09Speaker 10: Yeah, no guy says that.
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: Not in college.
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it's weird that he's... But this is
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: coming out of a different era, too, when everybody was
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: about that family values thing, and you were supposed to.
- 1:13:21Speaker 5: No, even then, even in the 70s, and even in
- 1:13:24Speaker 5: the early 80s, these.
- 1:13:26Speaker 10: Now, guys were all the same.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: They were.
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: He's got his piano career ahead of him.
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: Most of the time, the.
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: Guys are like... I don't have a shitty piano career.
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: But if he wanted to quit playing piano, and he
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: wanted to marry her and move off and give up
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: his life, a baby was the perfect.
- 1:13:42Speaker 11: Way to have it.
- 1:13:42Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: I don't think it was giving up.
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: And that's the thing. I was like, okay, even if
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: you want to say it was weird for the time,
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: once you get into the story, I think... That becomes the, well,
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: first of all, okay, it's kind of a jackass move
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: on her part to tell him right before he has
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: to go perform for these guys who are going to
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: back him and keep his career going and whatever. So,
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: once again, nice move on your part, Olivia.
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: We're going to have a baby. Well, as bad as
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: he performed.
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: Well, that's what it was. I mean, she told him
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: right before that. And he was, you know, now my
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: life's screwed up. And this girl I love doesn't want
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: to marry me. And she wants to kill my baby.
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: And so, yeah, he's not really playing quite right anyway.
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: He's a jackass anyway. But on top of that, it's like, okay.
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: the way he starts telling that story later is, okay,
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: I just screwed up my career, so everything I've been
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: working for for most of my life is kind of
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: shot to hell now, so what a lot of people
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: seem to do in life is that, well, let's fill
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: that void. Obviously, I'm not going anywhere professionally with, I'll
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: have a.
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: Family, and that'll be where I'll go, and I'm going to.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: Leave the conservatory, and I'm going to get married to you,
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: and we're going to have a baby, and have a
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: perfect little life, and isn't that the story that people
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: tell themselves? Isn't that that bullshit that you kind of
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: sell yourself when everything else isn't going right? No, I
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: never had that problem. Well, see, that's what I'm saying.
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: So I think that's, I don't know, I think that's,
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: to me, that part seemed believable, that he was sort
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: of using that as his crutch to be like, my
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: life sucks now.
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: In most movies, though, and usually in life, about 90%
- 1:15:11Speaker 5: of the time, the guy's going, what?
- 1:15:12Speaker 10: What do you mean you're pregnant?
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: You've got to be fucking kidding me. But it also
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: plays into that other half of this movie, which is
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: this very strong female sense of, I mean, the fact
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: that it's 74 and this girl's... I mean, it's very
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: topical when she's like, you're not going to tell me
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: what to do with my body, you know? It's almost
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: straight out of the headlines kind of lines for a
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: few minutes there. So I think, again, that was kind
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: of being progressive in that way, which you couldn't do
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: if he was like, well, okay, kill it, you know?
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: So you kind of needed him to be a little
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: more old-fashioned, let's get married instead, so she can be like,
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: I don't want to do that. I don't want to
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: throw my life away. So, I don't know. I thought
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: for that, it was also being kind of... progressive in
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: you know the way that it's you know let's let's
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: throw these issues out there but also just the way
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: that it treats the women i mean for what is
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: essentially a horror movie it puts them in like non
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: most of the time they're not victims in their own
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: not in the stupid way that they are in most
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: slashers that come later And they're also kind of like.
- 1:16:13Speaker 9: There was no boobies in this movie.
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: Yeah, they're not whores either.
- 1:16:17Speaker 16: Like, really?
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: I mean, the only one that's ill-behaved is Marco Kidder,
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: and she's just drunk all the time.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: And she's like a sleeper.
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: And the house mom.
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: Yeah, well, the house mom, she's just there for comic relief.
- 1:16:28Speaker 9: Right.
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: And it's sad that the bio clerk based that on
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: his aunt.
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: She used to hide booze all over the house.
- 1:16:35Speaker 22: That's my aunt.
- 1:16:36Speaker 10: Do all aunts do that?
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: Do all aunts do that?
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: I'm an aunt. Do I have to do that?
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: You should start.
- 1:16:43Speaker 10: She's the one that drinks the hot booze.
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: You're hiding it from the dog. Dog, you don't see
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: where I'm putting this booze. You just keep going over there.
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: I do have bottles of whiskey on my window sill,
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: but it's just because I have a real small apartment
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: and not enough cannabis.
- 1:16:59Speaker 9: Try to lure the hobos in.
- 1:17:01Speaker 11: She is.
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: She's got bottles of hot damn on the window sill.
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: Two things that, speaking of windows, two things that almost
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: right away in this movie, because, you know, up until
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: this point, one of the biggest, you know, slasher or
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: murder movies, I guess, would be Psycho. You'd probably consider it.
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: And two things, the first, the killer behind the plastic
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: that's in the closet. And you see the person through that.
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: I was like, oh, this is kind of a psycho thing.
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: And then the next thing you see is a dead
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: person rocking in a rocking chair next to a window.
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: And they keep kind of going back to that look
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: and even seeing the body outside the window at the
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: end in the top floor looking down over things. It's almost... Well,
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: definitely the rocking chair body is an homage there.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: But it's a nice visual.
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: And sitting up in the window, I mean, that was
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: the mother thing. So, yeah, I can see those touches. So, again,
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: even this guy that everybody rips off was kind of
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: stealing from another impressive director.
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: I wouldn't even call it a rip-off. It was more
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: an homage.
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: There was no reason for it to be in a
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: rocking chair. There was no, you know, so.
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: And, again, I mean, you can't go into... the way
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: that he directs this movie and call him packy in
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: any way, because that's what I think I noticed so
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: much watching it this time is how well put together
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: it is. I mean, how much movement there is to
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: stuff that like that, even like simple shots, like that
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: first time he calls and they're all standing there and
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: the camera like starts on the phone and moves to
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: each of their faces and like moves each time.
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: And focuses each time on.
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: Each one and continues this one continuous shot through the
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: entire room stopping like it's just it's amazing that shot
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: or how many times he just sort of weaves through
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: the house and just kind of takes his time to
- 1:18:59Speaker 3: set up The situation and the layout that you're in
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: and everything feels really real the way that he sort
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: of presents this world.
- 1:19:07Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: It's, I don't know, just the movement in it. I mean,
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: even at the end, John Saxon kind of kicks in
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: that door and you follow these guys all the way down.
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: You're in front of them, but you're sort of backing
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: down the hallway and watching him go through these different
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: little rooms and different, it's just well put together from
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: a directing standpoint.
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: Why didn't they run into the house? Why did they walk?
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: I mean, you'd think cops would be running through that
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: place trying to get to the girl. That'd be cautious.
- 1:19:32Speaker 11: I guess.
- 1:19:33Speaker 9: You go running, they're all willy-nilly and shit. You make
- 1:19:37Speaker 9: a bad cop. Well, they don't do what.
- 1:19:42Speaker 5: Normal cops do. You see them kick in the door,
- 1:19:44Speaker 5: and they're like, you know, and then the guy's like.
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: Clear, clear, clear.
- 1:19:50Speaker 9: He ain't got time for that shit.
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: Did you see Nashville? I mean, have you seen the
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: cops in this town?
- 1:19:56Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: With the exception of John Sachs, and that's all they've
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: got carrying them.
- 1:20:00Speaker 11: Yes.
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: That's sad.
- 1:20:02Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: Nash is a sorry excuse for a cop.
- 1:20:05Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: I don't know. I just, if I, the cop, maybe
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: I wouldn't have the training to be a cop, but
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: if I knew there was a young, you know, girl
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: in a house with a killer, I'd be running in
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: there like a mother.
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: Especially if she looked like Olivia do.
- 1:20:19Speaker 8: Well, yeah.
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: They'd be like, what's up, babe?
- 1:20:23Speaker 12: What's going on?
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: I just came here to save you.
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: To save your ass.
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: You know what that means. You're my slave now. I
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: can put that part in your hair.
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: Well, the cops don't even.
- 1:20:31Speaker 10: They don't even search the house for anything.
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: No.
- 1:20:34Speaker 11: You know?
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: There's more dead bodies in the house than they never
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: found them.
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: They don't search.
- 1:20:37Speaker 9: They're never going to handle that much.
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: They're getting back to it later.
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: Two people.
- 1:20:40Speaker 10: Yeah. Hustle can't handle that many dead people. What, all
- 1:20:44Speaker 10: two of them?
- 1:20:45Speaker 9: There was three.
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: There was four total.
- 1:20:46Speaker 10: The little girl.
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: Well, that's five total. There's like seven, I think, total.
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: But there's two upstairs.
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:20:53Speaker 10: They never got the two in the attic.
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: There's two in the attic. There's the other two sorority girls.
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: Still involved. There's the boyfriend. There's the cop outside. And
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: there's the girl from earlier. So I think total they killed.
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: That's a lot.
- 1:21:03Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:21:04Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: There are a lot. But there's two more.
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: There's two more they don't even know about, yeah, because
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: they're kind of slacking. That's what I'm saying.
- 1:21:10Speaker 9: How are they going to handle that?
- 1:21:11Speaker 10: Yeah, they wouldn't search it. And there's a fucking ladder
- 1:21:15Speaker 10: right there. You know, you don't look upstairs. Maybe the
- 1:21:17Speaker 10: killer's still here.
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: No, they don't think about that. No, she got it.
- 1:21:21Speaker 9: I didn't think about that.
- 1:21:22Speaker 10: But they're still going to look through the house for stuff.
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: Again, it kind of lacks police work.
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: You've seen the small town they're in. Spoiler alert. They
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: kind of leave the lead actress hanging a little bit
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: there at the end.
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: Just a little.
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: And what, did they drug her to put her to sleep? Yeah.
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: That's pretty lame.
- 1:21:44Speaker 10: They don't take her to the hospital.
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: We're still looking for the killer. No, they're not.
- 1:21:48Speaker 10: No, they're not. they're convinced that the guy was the
- 1:21:51Speaker 10: killer but still they take him to the hospital they
- 1:21:54Speaker 10: don't leave her in the house where all the murders
- 1:21:57Speaker 10: happened with one cop outside that's a crime scene she's
- 1:22:02Speaker 10: not going to be in the house they're going to
- 1:22:04Speaker 10: pull her out of the house and put her in
- 1:22:06Speaker 10: the hospital until the investigation clears the house.
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: Even psychologically for a woman to wake up alone in
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: a dark house that she was almost killed in all
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: of her friends were dead in the next room get
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: the fuck.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: Out of here Yeah, that's kind of silly.
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: That bugged me.
- 1:22:22Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:22:22Speaker 9: A lot of things bugged me, but I really like
- 1:22:24Speaker 9: this movie.
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: It did a good job of building suspense.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: It's like, she's like, so traumatized that they have to
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: drug her but like the dad passes out a little
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: bit they're like we gotta take.
- 1:22:35Speaker 10: Her to the hospital yeah.
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: Fuck her you know like whatever she's pregnant and everything
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: yeah and they're they knew that at that point too
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: because she.
- 1:22:43Speaker 5: Had admitted yeah he faints and they take him to
- 1:22:47Speaker 5: the hospital.
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: Right yeah get the guy a stiff drink and what
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: slap him wake up.
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: We're going to drug this traumatized pregnant lady and just
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: kind of leave her here, but we're going to take
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: this guy who passed out.
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: To the hospital. Right. If the hospital can't handle the
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: bodies and her, then why are they going to handle
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: the guy with the.
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: Maybe she's indigent and they're just like, you probably don't
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: have health insurance, college girl.
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: Nobody from Argentina has health insurance.
- 1:23:20Speaker 10: They exited that house so damn fast. I thought somebody
- 1:23:22Speaker 10: was like hiding, waiting because they knew the killer.
- 1:23:25Speaker 5: I was like, okay, this is going to be a
- 1:23:26Speaker 5: twist because they know it's not the end and he's
- 1:23:28Speaker 5: going to be like hiding.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: There's a police escort outside.
- 1:23:31Speaker 5: Well, no, I was hoping John Saxon was like in
- 1:23:33Speaker 5: the corner just waiting so the guy was going to
- 1:23:35Speaker 5: come get her and he'd jump out and he'd be like,
- 1:23:36Speaker 5: I got you, motherfucker.
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: And then that would have been the end of the movie.
- 1:23:40Speaker 10: Didn't happen.
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: I think they wanted to rewrite it.
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: I think it was the studio or one of them
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: that wanted to change the ending because I think that's
- 1:23:51Speaker 3: the way it was supposed to end and Bob Clark
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: fought for it and eventually got it. He wanted it
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: to end that sort of ambiguous way.
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: Did they get.
- 1:23:59Speaker 9: Into the spoiler alerts for the end?
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: Again, we threw the spoiler alert out. This isn't even
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: how it ended, but we'll get back to that, I guess.
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: They wanted it... I read that they wanted to.
- 1:24:12Speaker 10: The studio wanted to wrap it up.
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: Well, yeah, but I.
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: Think they also wanted to pin it on somebody else.
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: So I think they wanted to have all the cops
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: leave the room while she's laying there asleep and have
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: the fur coat boyfriend still in the room to stay
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: with her. And him to then say that line that
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: the killer kept saying, that don't tell him what we
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: did or whatever, and then kill her in the bed.
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: And then he, I guess he gets away with it then.
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: They wanted to at least pin it on somebody so
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: that you knew who it was. It was this guy
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: all along. And Bob Clark did not want that. He
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: was like, nope. I want, I mean, they already, it
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: is funny how much they totally red herring you with
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: that boyfriend. Like at every turn, it's like, it's the boyfriend,
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: it's the boyfriend. It's like, well, it's kind of uninteresting
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: if it's the boyfriend.
- 1:24:54Speaker 10: I mean, it looks like it's the boyfriend.
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: Yeah, it looks like it's the boyfriend.
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: I guess the.
- 1:24:58Speaker 10: Reason the ending like that, endings like that always, Drive
- 1:25:02Speaker 10: me nuts. I always want to see the bad guy killed.
- 1:25:04Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:25:05Speaker 10: You want closure.
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: I want closure.
- 1:25:08Speaker 10: I want closure. No, not so much closure, but I
- 1:25:10Speaker 10: want punishment, man. I want motherfuckers to die.
- 1:25:13Speaker 13: Retribution.
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: Retribution. Revenge. That's what I want. Well, you can't have
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: a sequel if you kill off the killer. There was
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: no sequel. And he didn't really want to do a sequel.
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: So it's weird that.
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: He just wanted to leave it open like that, I think.
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: So he just wanted the entire opposite to what you wanted.
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: Because I don't think he wanted to do a sequel.
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: I'm going to make a sequel.
- 1:25:35Speaker 10: And I'm going to find John Saxon.
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: It's like 15 minutes long.
- 1:25:39Speaker 10: He's going to help me make the sequel.
- 1:25:41Speaker 16: John, you hear that?
- 1:25:42Speaker 10: You're going to help me make the sequel, man.
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: All right, I guess.
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: As long as there's a heater. Yeah. It'll be warm.
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: And I'll have cookies.
- 1:25:50Speaker 9: We'll get you a fur coat like that one guy.
- 1:25:52Speaker 10: I want you to be hiding in the closet and
- 1:25:54Speaker 10: you're going to pop out and you're going to shoot
- 1:25:55Speaker 10: the guy.
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: Either that or punch him.
- 1:25:58Speaker 9: You can't like pop out that fast.
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: Well, we can do something.
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: CGI.
- 1:26:02Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:26:05Speaker 5: Actually, that'd be better if it was like more like, yeah,
- 1:26:09Speaker 5: he jumps out of the closet and kicks the guy.
- 1:26:11Speaker 11: Kind of like.
- 1:26:12Speaker 9: That'd break a hip.
- 1:26:13Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: He can kick as high as Seagal can.
- 1:26:15Speaker 10: He can probably kick higher than Seagal.
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: Yeah, at this point, yeah.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: Watch out for your ankles around Seagal.
- 1:26:20Speaker 10: What are you going to do, eat him?
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: That jacket's going to explode on him.
- 1:26:28Speaker 14: Oh, no.
- 1:26:29Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:26:29Speaker 9: Let's talk about that jacket for a second, if we can.
- 1:26:32Speaker 9: The fabulous fur.
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: That sporty-ass fur coat.
- 1:26:35Speaker 9: I don't even know what the hell's going on there,
- 1:26:36Speaker 9: but it was like, I don't know how many... Was
- 1:26:39Speaker 9: it real fur or was it fake fur?
- 1:26:40Speaker 10: No, this had to be real fur.
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: I'm sure it was real.
- 1:26:43Speaker 11: It was 34.
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: Nobody bothered with fake fur in 74.
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: That was the college guy.
- 1:26:48Speaker 10: Yeah, I got money.
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: Yeah, old school.
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: Is that what college guys look like in San Diego?
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: That was kind of like their old... I'm an artist.
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: I got a fur coat.
- 1:26:56Speaker 11: Was he?
- 1:26:56Speaker 20: You wasn't an artist.
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: He was, too.
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a hockey player.
- 1:27:00Speaker 10: Oh, you're talking about the other guy. The fur coat
- 1:27:01Speaker 10: wearing guy. What was the boyfriend wearing?
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: A green sweater. A green turtleneck.
- 1:27:06Speaker 10: He had a jacket, too.
- 1:27:07Speaker 9: There was no fur coat.
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: Oh, there wasn't?
- 1:27:09Speaker 9: It was not that fabulous fur monstrosity that he was wearing.
- 1:27:12Speaker 10: I got the two guys mixed up. They both had
- 1:27:14Speaker 10: the same haircut.
- 1:27:16Speaker 9: I didn't.
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: It was the 70s.
- 1:27:19Speaker 10: All white people look the same.
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: Damn white people.
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: You want to hear the best part about the fur coat?
- 1:27:27Speaker 3: That was actually the actor's coat.
- 1:27:29Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:27:30Speaker 3: It still hangs in his closet is the story. Right.
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: That was actually his coat in 74, which is awesome.
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: I like that the coat is so epic to not
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: only us but to everyone that there's, like, Still information
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: to be found about this coat. Just in case you're
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: wondering what happened to this coat.
- 1:27:46Speaker 10: Which I was.
- 1:27:47Speaker 9: Behind the stories on that coat.
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: I'm going to need pictures of you wearing this coat
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: on vacation in all the places that you've been in
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: this coat over the years.
- 1:27:56Speaker 9: That's awesome.
- 1:27:57Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:27:59Speaker 9: Talk about Olivia Hussey's sweater for a second.
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: Oh, the one with the hands on her chest?
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: That was awesome.
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: I think we're all a little jealous of either having
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: that sweater or being that sweater.
- 1:28:08Speaker 11: Right.
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: Either way.
- 1:28:10Speaker 9: What about one chick dude that we were waiting to
- 1:28:12Speaker 9: try to make out with Olivia Hussey when she was
- 1:28:14Speaker 9: leaning against the door frame?
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: The one that looked like a.
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: Andrea Martin? The one that looked.
- 1:28:18Speaker 9: Like Cher and Mickey Avalon had a baby.
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: That's Andrea Martin, which it is funny that she... Yeah,
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: that's what... Yeah, midway in, that's what you were saying, Greg,
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: is it's weird seeing her be serious.
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: Because.
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: And even more weird on the casting, you know who that.
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: Role was supposed to go to?
- 1:28:35Speaker 11: Cher.
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: No, I'm just kidding.
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: I was supposed to go to Gilda Radner.
- 1:28:40Speaker 11: Wow.
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: Who then had to go, she was still contractually obligated
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: to go work on Saturday Night Live, and they gave
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: it to Andrea Martin, who is kind of like the
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: SCTV version of her. Yeah, so that's really weird that
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: they were picking sort of a comedic actress both times.
- 1:28:57Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: I wonder if they had an intention to maybe make
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: her more comedic.
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: I don't know, because she's not really that funny in
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: this one.
- 1:29:06Speaker 5: Part of his thing was to take comedic actress and
- 1:29:10Speaker 5: turn her into a very serious.
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: Put her.
- 1:29:13Speaker 10: In a serious role.
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: They were both so young at that point, though.
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: They wouldn't have been known as comedic.
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: I guess they came out of improv, maybe. I just
- 1:29:25Speaker 3: thought that was weird that there was almost a trade-out
- 1:29:27Speaker 3: for one type of actress to another that they didn't
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: know what that thought was going to pan out until
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: after the fact last night about 10 30 is the
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: way she left her room as far as you know
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: yes what's this.
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: We were having a party last night.
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: Did she drink a lot? No, hardly at all. Did
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: she have any emotional problems, anything like that?
- 1:30:08Speaker 9: No, not clear.
- 1:30:11Speaker 21: Who was she seeing besides Chris Hayden?
- 1:30:14Speaker 6: No one.
- 1:30:15Speaker 10: Sure then.
- 1:30:17Speaker 5: What you were saying earlier about this being like a
- 1:30:19Speaker 5: sorority slasher movie, yeah, this is totally different because they're
- 1:30:23Speaker 5: not all running around.
- 1:30:24Speaker 21: No boobies.
- 1:30:26Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:30:26Speaker 10: Oh, I've got to go take a shower.
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: Everybody's dead.
- 1:30:29Speaker 11: You know.
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: They're all in committed relationships.
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: They're not screwing around, really.
- 1:30:34Speaker 5: They're not all having naked house party pillow fights.
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: Nobody's doing drugs. Only one of them's a drunk, if
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: you don't count the old lady. So it's like, yeah,
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: they're all pretty well behaved and responsible.
- 1:30:47Speaker 10: And they all die and just like, you know, I'm
- 1:30:49Speaker 10: going to bed.
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: And usually it's like the first one that goes is
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: the bad girl. No, Margot lives like halfway into the
- 1:30:55Speaker 3: movie and it's the best, the nice one that's the
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: misunderstood good girl that Oh, it's a shame you're not
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: fitting in because you're just too damn nice.
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: She's the first one that gets it. Yeah, but she
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: had a creepy dad.
- 1:31:06Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:31:07Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 1:31:07Speaker 9: He had a weird-shaped noggin.
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: He was just a weird dad-looking dude. I mean, I
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: don't know that that guy could play much else, really.
- 1:31:13Speaker 10: He doesn't even look like he'd be her dad.
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: He could be a professor. Yeah, a professor.
- 1:31:18Speaker 10: Or a scientist. Yeah, a scientist. He would be the weird.
- 1:31:23Speaker 5: rocket scientist guy that, like, defected from Germany in the 30s.
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: I thought it was strange that the guy that meets
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: the dad in the street after the dad gets hit
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: with the snowball and the dad's like, oh, do you know,
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: and mentions the daughter's name and he's like, oh, he's
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: real foggy on the name.
- 1:31:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: And then he's like, I know right where she lives.
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: I know exactly where she lives. I can't remember her name.
- 1:31:49Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: No, he can't remember her name.
- 1:31:52Speaker 9: Well, because then the dad said what the fraternity or
- 1:31:55Speaker 9: sorority was.
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: Yeah, but it just... It was the 70s. There was
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: a lot going on.
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: Did you notice the dad just randomly, and this is
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: a weird shot, too, because it's getting closer and kind
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: of zooming in on him, and then just out of
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: nowhere he gets hit with a freaking snowball. Did you
- 1:32:10Speaker 3: see it also got stuck in his glasses just like Ralphie?
- 1:32:12Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: Like almost exactly. I was like, he really likes that shot.
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: Doesn't he? And then the other one I was going
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: to see if you noticed.
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: Well, we can get into what this guy does because
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: that we were all sort of fascinated by. But did
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: you notice the phone tech guy who he was? He's
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: the guy that sells them the Christmas tree in A
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: Christmas Story.
- 1:32:30Speaker 9: Oh, wow.
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: Didn't even pay attention to that. The needles fall off.
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: That guy. Yeah. That guy.
- 1:32:37Speaker 6: But, okay.
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: Let's put it in the corner.
- 1:32:38Speaker 3: Let's go to the phone tech world that exists in
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: this movie.
- 1:32:42Speaker 9: How baffled Marlena was.
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:32:44Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: Seriously.
- 1:32:47Speaker 3: What the hell is going on with all that craziness?
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: Every single connection was a physical connection.
- 1:32:52Speaker 10: There ain't no fancy iPhones back then.
- 1:32:54Speaker 9: No damn caller ID. That would have solved a lot
- 1:32:57Speaker 9: of fucking problems right there.
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: It's amazing. I mean, you know, in such a small
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: span of time, how much it has changed, really.
- 1:33:04Speaker 12: I mean.
- 1:33:05Speaker 3: It's been a long time for one lifetime, maybe, but
- 1:33:07Speaker 3: in the grand scheme of things, it is a very
- 1:33:10Speaker 3: small amount of time.
- 1:33:10Speaker 10: Yeah, you're talking about 30 years.
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, to look at just, like, you know,
- 1:33:14Speaker 3: communications and the way the world works on a day-to-day
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: basis in this, you know, from 74 to now is, like,
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: worlds of difference. It's so amazing how quickly things change now.
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: Not to go into, like, a long thing on this,
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: but I think about this at least, like, daily, how
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: weird it is that, like, civilization went for thousands of
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: years with maybe like one or two technological advances and
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: then all of a sudden in the last decade there's
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: been like millions of things that have changed our lives.
- 1:33:47Speaker 10: Reverse engineering.
- 1:33:48Speaker 5: Everything was a big boom after Roswell.
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: I'm going to have.
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: To tell you about my alien encounter later. Don't encourage him.
- 1:33:55Speaker 9: I think it's once they make So once they start
- 1:34:00Speaker 9: making these breakthroughs, it kind of opens doors and it's
- 1:34:02Speaker 9: kind of like a chain reaction. Once they make one big.
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: Thing, it's easier to make. After the Industrial Revolution, it's
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: just kind of like, oh.
- 1:34:12Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:34:13Speaker 10: Well, I'm talking about within the last.
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: Okay, I said without getting sidetracked.
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: Okay, I won't get into it.
- 1:34:21Speaker 10: Don't get me started on stuff like that.
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: We'll just say that phone system is amazing.
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that phone system is rooms full. And the town
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: wasn't that big.
- 1:34:31Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I mean, yeah, I was like, basically, I
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: was trying to figure out what was, I was like, basically,
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: it's like you go back. 20 years to that woman
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: sitting there pushing you know one cord into the other
- 1:34:40Speaker 3: for those 50 people in town that had a phone
- 1:34:43Speaker 3: and now this is like the bigger version that each
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: of those machines is going to somebody's house you know
- 1:34:48Speaker 3: it's like.
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: People from like abu dhabi how do people from.
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: Abu dhabi relays it to somebody else and yeah well
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: in what other country has one that yeah there's some
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: guy in a room like that somewhere in that country
- 1:35:00Speaker 3: that it relays it on over there or Used to.
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: Now it just bounces off of that light.
- 1:35:05Speaker 2: My grandma was telling me that the year I was born,
- 1:35:10Speaker 2: she had a party line, which I remembered her having
- 1:35:13Speaker 2: a party line later in life because I picked it
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: up one time and there was somebody on the phone.
- 1:35:16Speaker 9: That's a party line.
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: You shared the same line with somebody else in town
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: just because they didn't have that many of them.
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: I kind of remember that on Mr.
- 1:35:25Speaker 9: Ed.
- 1:35:25Speaker 8: She had.
- 1:35:30Speaker 2: It was a four-way party line with four different people.
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: And so you'd pick up the phone, and you'd have
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: to wait for the other person to get off the phone.
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: And I said, so you could pick up the phone
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: and listen in on conversations? And she goes, yeah, people
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: did it all the time. And she goes, you really
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: had to watch what she said. And I said, did
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: you ever listen? And she's very proper. And she goes,
- 1:35:49Speaker 2: every once in a while, I listen a little bit.
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: Would people be able to hear you pick up the phone?
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: Probably. They could, just like you're picking one up in
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: your house.
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:35:59Speaker 10: I remember when I was a kid, we had a
- 1:36:00Speaker 10: four-digit phone number.
- 1:36:02Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: Did it start with Fallacia?
- 1:36:05Speaker 10: No.
- 1:36:07Speaker 2: It's a news change. You know, Effie. 9417 was our
- 1:36:10Speaker 2: phone number.
- 1:36:12Speaker 3: Now everybody's going to know they're going to call you.
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:36:14Speaker 3: Back in time. Yeah, really.
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: Go for it.
- 1:36:18Speaker 10: Let's think.
- 1:36:18Speaker 5: I can't remember anything, but I can still remember my
- 1:36:21Speaker 5: home phone number, 9417. My other friend's phone number, 6880.
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: And my other friend's phone number, 9416.
- 1:36:31Speaker 9: But you can't remember the waffles we had.
- 1:36:32Speaker 10: But I can remember the waffles we had.
- 1:36:36Speaker 5: And this is, you know, as far as technology is
- 1:36:38Speaker 5: concerned and stuff like that, I used to have every.
- 1:36:40Speaker 10: Phone number memorized in my head.
- 1:36:43Speaker 2: Of everyone you knew. Of everyone I knew.
- 1:36:45Speaker 5: And now I don't even know my own damn phone number.
- 1:36:48Speaker 5: If I didn't have my phone, I wouldn't be able
- 1:36:50Speaker 5: to hold it.
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: I don't even attempt to learn any numbers. I remember
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: my friend's.
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: Parents' numbers. I have none.
- 1:36:56Speaker 9: I know four phone numbers.
- 1:36:57Speaker 10: I know zero phone numbers.
- 1:36:59Speaker 9: I know my phone number. I know my mom's. I
- 1:37:01Speaker 9: know my grandma's. And I know Brian's. All because those
- 1:37:04Speaker 9: are ones that I had to know before I had
- 1:37:05Speaker 9: a cell phone.
- 1:37:06Speaker 2: And I could type them.
- 1:37:07Speaker 9: In there back when I had real phones. Those numbers
- 1:37:11Speaker 9: have been the same since before I had a cell phone.
- 1:37:13Speaker 10: See, I can't remember anything.
- 1:37:15Speaker 11: It's crazy.
- 1:37:15Speaker 10: There's no phone numbers that I type in.
- 1:37:18Speaker 9: I'm screwed if I need to call you and I
- 1:37:19Speaker 9: don't have my cell phone. I'll have to call Brian.
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: Can you look up his phone number?
- 1:37:25Speaker 10: I can't call anybody. I have nobody to call. I
- 1:37:27Speaker 10: don't even know my parents' number.
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: One day at school, I lost my keys on the
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: same day that I forgot my phone. It was like
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: the worst thing ever. It was like awful.
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: You were like instantly in the dark ages.
- 1:37:39Speaker 9: I can't imagine you without your phone.
- 1:37:44Speaker 6: I know.
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: It was really weird. I was like, I was driving
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: to school, and I was like, oh, shit, I forgot
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: my phone. I was like, this would be an awful
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: day to lose my keys. I literally thought that on
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: the way, and lo and behold, I lose my fucking keys.
- 1:37:57Speaker 10: You set yourself up.
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: Yes, but thankfully, with the help of the internet, I
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: was able to get on Facebook and send people messages
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: until they would send me messages back. And then I'm like, Jessica...
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: call this number, and then have them call this person,
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: and then let them know I'm at school, and they
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: can come pick me up. Yeah, that's how it happened. So, still,
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: technology aided me in that.
- 1:38:20Speaker 11: Awesome.
- 1:38:21Speaker 9: But, you know.
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: Because there aren't any more payphones.
- 1:38:24Speaker 9: There are.
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: Very rarely. There's one right down here.
- 1:38:27Speaker 10: Right next to the crawler.
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: Payphone is forever.
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: Department complex don't have phones.
- 1:38:35Speaker 5: I don't know, but I see people all the time
- 1:38:38Speaker 5: down there using that pay phone.
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: Really ghetto people.
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: Don't have phones.
- 1:38:41Speaker 9: I don't know if my aunt has a phone. You
- 1:38:44Speaker 9: can't get much more ghetto.
- 1:38:45Speaker 3: Do little kids know what that is when they walk
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: past it?
- 1:38:47Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: What is it, mommy?
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: Is this like a Wi-Fi hotspot or something?
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: Excuse me, is this hotel beeper friendly? Is there like
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: a pay phone bank?
- 1:39:01Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: Yeah. crazy technology huh and what about that guy wearing
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: if he wasn't the killer he picked the wrong day
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: to wear that damn green turtleneck.
- 1:39:13Speaker 3: Well he wasn't so much but what i want to
- 1:39:15Speaker 3: know and actually you brought this up again greg um
- 1:39:18Speaker 3: okay so assuming he wasn't the killer at this point
- 1:39:21Speaker 3: we don't know but as the movie turns out he's
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: not it's kind.
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: Of, once again, sort of a dick move to just
- 1:39:28Speaker 2: kick in their freaking window.
- 1:39:29Speaker 11: Right, right.
- 1:39:30Speaker 3: If he's just, I'm worried about my girlfriend because we're
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: having an argument, so your next move is to go
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: kick in the window of the sorority.
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: House she lives in.
- 1:39:39Speaker 9: He found out that girl got killed and that they,
- 1:39:41Speaker 9: he knew her roommates were missing.
- 1:39:43Speaker 3: Did he?
- 1:39:44Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:39:44Speaker 9: I think everybody knew the roommate's roommate.
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: And why was he sitting outside of the house?
- 1:39:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, that was just, again, him being a
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: weird overbearing boyfriend, which he was.
- 1:39:54Speaker 2: She needed to die. That's what it comes down to.
- 1:39:56Speaker 3: But I was just like, so your overreacting move is
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: to go kick in their window and climb into the house.
- 1:40:01Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:40:01Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:40:22Speaker 3: Couldn't really.
- 1:40:23Speaker 2: She was sort of hiding.
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: He couldn't see her after he got in the room.
- 1:40:27Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, that whole part seemed kind of weird.
- 1:40:31Speaker 20: I don't know.
- 1:40:31Speaker 9: I guess they were just banking on, oh, he can
- 1:40:33Speaker 9: see her, so that's why he went in there with
- 1:40:34Speaker 9: a fork. I'm not buying him. Maybe that's what they
- 1:40:36Speaker 9: were doing.
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: I think it was just convenience. Unless he was walking
- 1:40:39Speaker 2: outside and heard, you know, her.
- 1:40:42Speaker 9: Maybe.
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: I mean, she was.
- 1:40:43Speaker 3: Screaming for the other girls and all that stuff.
- 1:40:46Speaker 2: That's right.
- 1:40:46Speaker 10: He was outside the house.
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: He was probably.
- 1:40:49Speaker 10: Looking for a way in because the door was locked.
- 1:40:51Speaker 2: That could be. She locked all the doors. Yeah, that
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: could be. If my girlfriend with baby in her belly
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: was running through the house screaming and people were dying
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: that night, I would be jumping through windows on the
- 1:41:02Speaker 2: first floor.
- 1:41:02Speaker 3: But he was going pretty slow about it. He was
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: kind of looking in and walking around.
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: Well, I guess he wanted to make sure it was
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: her and not like the killer, you know?
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: I guess.
- 1:41:12Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:41:13Speaker 9: I think he didn't want to worry about saving those
- 1:41:14Speaker 9: other girls. He wanted to make sure it was his girl.
- 1:41:16Speaker 3: Yeah, who cares about those?
- 1:41:18Speaker 2: Andrew Martin.
- 1:41:18Speaker 8: Nah.
- 1:41:19Speaker 2: He was kind of weird anyway. Who beats up a piano?
- 1:41:22Speaker 3: He was an artist, man.
- 1:41:23Speaker 2: You just don't understand. He was just frustrated. He's an asshole.
- 1:41:27Speaker 9: Wasn't that piano fault he sucked?
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: Well, he bought the lights on the Christmas tree. What
- 1:41:31Speaker 2: a jerk.
- 1:41:32Speaker 3: That was a creepy-looking Christmas tree, by the way. It
- 1:41:34Speaker 3: looked like it had a death shroud on it, which
- 1:41:37Speaker 3: fits the movie, but I was just like, who would
- 1:41:39Speaker 3: actually decorate their tree like that?
- 1:41:41Speaker 2: It looks creepy as hell.
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it was weird.
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean, I don't normally.
- 1:41:49Speaker 3: Narrow it down and pick super favorite kind of movies,
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: but I've come to realize how much this is, like,
- 1:41:55Speaker 3: one of my favorite horror movies. Like, it, I don't know,
- 1:41:58Speaker 3: there's just, again, I think it's something about the way
- 1:42:00Speaker 3: that it's put together. Like, I think just the way
- 1:42:03Speaker 3: that it's shot, it has a weird tone to it,
- 1:42:06Speaker 3: and I think that's the first time I watched it.
- 1:42:07Speaker 3: I think I watched it on VHS years ago, and
- 1:42:10Speaker 3: that's what I kind of connected with. It's this weird, creepy,
- 1:42:13Speaker 3: it is that 70s feel for a horror movie, but
- 1:42:16Speaker 3: on top of that, it's just, like, the way that
- 1:42:18Speaker 3: he puts it together, it's like a lot of those
- 1:42:20Speaker 3: shots with all this super gothic architecture in the background,
- 1:42:25Speaker 3: like that door frame where he's playing the piano that's
- 1:42:29Speaker 3: bigger than most people's houses, and the big archway in
- 1:42:32Speaker 3: the background while he's waiting for her out on the
- 1:42:34Speaker 3: street there. And yeah, it's like all of that. And
- 1:42:37Speaker 3: just the house they live in is this huge, awesome
- 1:42:41Speaker 3: house that I think all of that creates this really
- 1:42:45Speaker 3: cool atmosphere. And then Again, the fact that it's Christmas time,
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: there's so much coldness to it. Like, number one, just
- 1:42:52Speaker 3: the weird, like, relationships. Because Olivia Hussey seems very cold anyway.
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: Yeah. She answers the phone, hello? Yeah.
- 1:43:01Speaker 3: I would assign that needs to be our drinking game,
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: is every time she screams hello for no good reason,
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: you just say hello.
- 1:43:06Speaker 9: I have my answering machine on my cell phone.
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: Hello?
- 1:43:09Speaker 14: Hello?
- 1:43:10Speaker 2: Hello?
- 1:43:11Speaker 12: Hello?
- 1:43:11Speaker 22: Hello?
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: Hello?
- 1:43:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:43:15Speaker 9: And we didn't talk about the drunken mess that was...
- 1:43:17Speaker 9: What's her face?
- 1:43:18Speaker 3: Margot.
- 1:43:19Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: I don't think that was, like, an act.
- 1:43:21Speaker 9: I think it was just her showing up.
- 1:43:23Speaker 2: Margot around the house.
- 1:43:25Speaker 3: I don't know that she was that big a mess then.
- 1:43:28Speaker 3: She entered into some really rough times later.
- 1:43:31Speaker 9: How many classes did she fail to be that damn old?
- 1:43:35Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: I don't know how old she was at that point.
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: Did she look old?
- 1:43:40Speaker 9: Maybe she just looked rough. I don't know.
- 1:43:42Speaker 3: I thought she was cute at this point. She didn't
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: necessarily look young, but she looked cute.
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: I'm going to pull a Misty and say her mouth
- 1:43:48Speaker 2: bothers me. Something about her upper lip.
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: The way her teeth do.
- 1:43:55Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 1:43:56Speaker 2: I don't want to be a jerk, but it's always
- 1:43:59Speaker 2: bothered me about that.
- 1:44:00Speaker 3: I don't know. Even in Superman movies, I thought she
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: was pretty. It's funny now. She just looks like somebody's grandma.
- 1:44:07Speaker 3: I mean.
- 1:44:08Speaker 2: We just saw her a few weeks ago.
- 1:44:10Speaker 3: It's very strange now how, again, how much things change
- 1:44:14Speaker 3: in a few years.
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: Scary.
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: But yeah, I just, I don't know, I think that
- 1:44:18Speaker 3: coldness really comes into play. I realized, again, watching it
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: this time, how much there's like wind going in the background.
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: Like it really, like they work that in really subtly
- 1:44:28Speaker 3: that it always feels like it's like, 13 degrees outside,
- 1:44:32Speaker 3: you know? They've always got that.
- 1:44:33Speaker 9: And that fucker's just wearing that green sweater.
- 1:44:34Speaker 6: Yeah, I know.
- 1:44:34Speaker 3: He leaves his coat in there and never goes back.
- 1:44:36Speaker 3: Maybe that's why he was kicking it in the window.
- 1:44:38Speaker 3: He's like, damn, it's fucking cold. I want my coat.
- 1:44:40Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: I think angst keeps you warm in the bitter cold.
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: I'm angry.
- 1:44:46Speaker 10: I'm not cold.
- 1:44:47Speaker 3: Creepily lurking outside of your significant other's house keeps you warm.
- 1:44:51Speaker 2: You know, with every murder, is there music or something
- 1:44:57Speaker 2: going on that's Or something's happening that no one can hear.
- 1:45:03Speaker 2: I liked the way, especially the carolers, kind of drown
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: out the sound of the soulless, dead-eyed, robot carolers. That's creepy.
- 1:45:12Speaker 2: First we can go to the creepy carolers.
- 1:45:15Speaker 3: But then again, the way that that's put together, that
- 1:45:17Speaker 3: you've got it intercut with the creepy carolers, but this
- 1:45:21Speaker 3: little serene Christmas song going on, And then this, like,
- 1:45:25Speaker 3: lurking camera POV shot going through the hallway, finding her
- 1:45:29Speaker 3: in the bedroom, and then just the cuts back and
- 1:45:32Speaker 3: forth of Kirby stabbed.
- 1:45:34Speaker 2: To death in bed.
- 1:45:35Speaker 9: With a damn unicorn.
- 1:45:36Speaker 2: With a freaking unicorn.
- 1:45:37Speaker 9: A glass unicorn.
- 1:45:38Speaker 3: You gotta watch those unicorns. It was big enough just
- 1:45:42Speaker 3: waiting for somebody to just plunge it into themselves one
- 1:45:44Speaker 3: way or another.
- 1:45:45Speaker 9: Right.
- 1:45:46Speaker 3: Sooner or later, somebody was getting stabbed with that thing
- 1:45:48Speaker 3: and you called it as soon as he walked in
- 1:45:50Speaker 3: the room.
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: Yeah, but I've seen it before.
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: But either way, it's kind of like, oh, that's going
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: in somebody.
- 1:45:55Speaker 2: Anybody that has something like that is asking for trouble.
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: I mean, it was kind of like foreshadowed, you know?
- 1:46:01Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:46:02Speaker 3: But again, that shot, I mean, that scene, the way
- 1:46:06Speaker 3: that it's shot, that It leads to kind of how
- 1:46:09Speaker 3: the whole movie works. I mean, it seems massively brutal,
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: but you never see it penetrate her at all.
- 1:46:16Speaker 2: It's nothing but it's that psycho move again.
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: They kind of show a little bit of blood, but
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: there's hardly any blood.
- 1:46:21Speaker 3: Yeah, there's hardly any blood.
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: That's the only part.
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: It's not excessive. You never see her get stabbed. You
- 1:46:26Speaker 3: just see it coming down on her and back out
- 1:46:29Speaker 3: in her bloody hand. It's disturbing the way that it's
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: put together, but at the same time, it's that psycho
- 1:46:35Speaker 3: thing again. You never.
- 1:46:36Speaker 2: see anything.
- 1:46:37Speaker 3: Actually happen it's all the way that he puts it
- 1:46:39Speaker 3: together and i think that's another thing that is so
- 1:46:43Speaker 3: well done about this is the fact that the whole
- 1:46:45Speaker 3: killer angle you never see the killer like what other
- 1:46:49Speaker 3: movie do you never like i mean you barely even
- 1:46:52Speaker 3: see that he's there you get maybe what five shots
- 1:46:55Speaker 3: of any part of him like the rest of the
- 1:46:57Speaker 3: time he's just out of frame or There's always, yeah,
- 1:47:02Speaker 3: this time, there's always creepy shadows moving in the background.
- 1:47:05Speaker 3: So you really do see, like, okay, he really is
- 1:47:07Speaker 3: just sort of lurking around the house when they're not
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: paying attention all day long.
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: He's a little bit of a bad Ronald.
- 1:47:13Speaker 3: Yeah, he is.
- 1:47:14Speaker 2: He's totally bad Ronald.
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: Bad Ronald.
- 1:47:17Speaker 3: Apparently he went there for that one.
- 1:47:19Speaker 2: The whole other one.
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: Yeah, if you watch the movie and you notice, there's, like,
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: shadows even... At parts where it's not even a focus.
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: You kind of have to be paying attention.
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: And it is one of those that if you're paying attention,
- 1:47:30Speaker 3: clears the boyfriend. Because there's that time when he's sitting
- 1:47:33Speaker 3: there telling her about you can't get rid of the baby.
- 1:47:36Speaker 3: There's a shadow in the background. And it's like, so
- 1:47:39Speaker 3: as much as they were trying to pin it on him,
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: it's like you go back and watch it.
- 1:47:41Speaker 2: It's like, well, no.
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: And also, like, it poses the question, you know, there's
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: just so many, like, open ends in this movie. You know,
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: like the kid that gets murdered in the park. And
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: the fact that this guy knows the conversation that she
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: had with Peter, it's almost like he stalks everybody, you know?
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: It's like it's not specific just to the house.
- 1:48:04Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: You know?
- 1:48:05Speaker 3: So I think the way that it's shot is kind
- 1:48:08Speaker 3: of awesome because it keeps him really... It just keeps
- 1:48:11Speaker 3: that suspense going that you never really see him. And
- 1:48:15Speaker 3: then also, I guess it ties into that thing that
- 1:48:17Speaker 3: we bitch about in horror movies now is how much backlash...
- 1:48:20Speaker 3: they give everybody. We don't know what the hell's going
- 1:48:22Speaker 3: on with this killer.
- 1:48:23Speaker 9: And I kind of like it.
- 1:48:25Speaker 3: You know he's messed up. You get little bits and
- 1:48:28Speaker 3: pieces of this weird thing that screwed him up as
- 1:48:31Speaker 3: a kid and he's grown. He's obviously got female issues now.
- 1:48:35Speaker 3: And then you never really find out what the hell
- 1:48:37Speaker 3: was going on. You never figure out what sent them down.
- 1:48:40Speaker 3: And that's like, that's why this movie's awesome. And I
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: haven't seen the remake, but any other movie they make now,
- 1:48:46Speaker 3: it's like, oh, and we gotta figure out exactly what
- 1:48:48Speaker 3: happened to him, and why he did this, and this
- 1:48:50Speaker 3: is tied to this incident.
- 1:48:50Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure they over-explained this. I've seen this.
- 1:48:52Speaker 11: For a while.
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: But, you know, and it's kind of interesting, because you
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: don't see the person's face, and you don't know anything
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: about them. But you do kind of know that their
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: name is more than likely Billy.
- 1:49:02Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the only thing you know.
- 1:49:05Speaker 3: Well, they give a little backstory of what it is
- 1:49:09Speaker 3: as they go into it. And, like, he keeps talking about.
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: He says some other girl's name.
- 1:49:14Speaker 3: Agnes. But he's also talking about the baby. So they
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: sort of wrote this mini backstory of, you know, he was...
- 1:49:21Speaker 3: They think it's like his sister, and he was supposed
- 1:49:23Speaker 3: to be taking care of his sister, and something horrible happened,
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: and he's to blame, and he's mommy, he's got the whole... So, yeah,
- 1:49:29Speaker 3: I mean, there's a... You can piece together this, like.
- 1:49:31Speaker 9: Really basic story.
- 1:49:33Speaker 3: But again, and that's all up to you. It's like,
- 1:49:35Speaker 3: they never have a scene where they're like, well, here's
- 1:49:37Speaker 3: what happened to Billy.
- 1:49:38Speaker 10: There's a flashback.
- 1:49:40Speaker 9: Like how they do at the end of Psycho, where
- 1:49:42Speaker 9: they fucking break it down.
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: We gotta break it. And again, that was somebody at
- 1:49:45Speaker 2: the studio.
- 1:49:45Speaker 3: Going, well, people are stupid, you better explain it to them. So,
- 1:49:49Speaker 3: I'm sure they tacked that line. scene on if I
- 1:49:51Speaker 3: remember in Psycho which is what would be done now
- 1:49:54Speaker 3: when they do a horror movie but this that's kind
- 1:49:56Speaker 3: of why this is awesome you never are given anything
- 1:49:59Speaker 3: in this movie you piece it.
- 1:50:02Speaker 9: Together which usually makes me angry too but I think
- 1:50:04Speaker 9: it works for.
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: This it does it was well done you don't know the.
- 1:50:08Speaker 9: Entire movie and at the end you're still like what
- 1:50:11Speaker 9: the hell just happened You have that uncertainty that maybe
- 1:50:15Speaker 9: a lot of them and the characters in the movie
- 1:50:17Speaker 9: would have if something like that happened.
- 1:50:19Speaker 11: Who or what?
- 1:50:19Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 1:50:20Speaker 3: And it's just general creepiness. It also plays on that
- 1:50:24Speaker 3: same thing that a lot of the horror movies at
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: this point, and especially all those babysitter kind of movies
- 1:50:28Speaker 3: that came after it, like, This kind of stuff sort
- 1:50:31Speaker 3: of does.
- 1:50:32Speaker 2: Happen in the real world.
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: I mean, you do hear weird stories about, and the
- 1:50:35Speaker 3: killer was in the attic the whole time. You know,
- 1:50:37Speaker 3: it's those weird, like, urban legends that get built up
- 1:50:40Speaker 3: around it.
- 1:50:40Speaker 9: That happened.
- 1:50:41Speaker 3: Some of them are.
- 1:50:42Speaker 9: There was a woman who was living in some guy's, like,
- 1:50:44Speaker 9: cabinet or something. Like a cabinet?
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: In New York.
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:50:47Speaker 2: She was homeless.
- 1:50:48Speaker 3: It was the videos.
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: He caught her on video.
- 1:50:50Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:50:51Speaker 9: She was snuck in someday.
- 1:50:52Speaker 2: I wasn't sure if that.
- 1:50:53Speaker 3: I'd heard people say that was staged. But either way,
- 1:50:55Speaker 3: I mean, it's all based on real stories.
- 1:50:57Speaker 9: I think he had, like, a storage system, like, above his, like,
- 1:50:59Speaker 9: that he wasn't using or whatever. So she had got
- 1:51:02Speaker 9: in at some point, and he would, like, go in there, like,
- 1:51:05Speaker 9: in his kitchen, and, like, half his stuff would be missing, like,
- 1:51:06Speaker 9: his food or whatever. So he set up a camera.
- 1:51:09Speaker 9: or something and there's some girls actually living.
- 1:51:11Speaker 3: Whether it's real or not, that footage is creepy. I
- 1:51:14Speaker 3: watched it and I was just like, holy shit.
- 1:51:15Speaker 2: It's, yeah, it's creepy.
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: I don't want to watch it tonight.
- 1:51:19Speaker 3: No, not tonight.
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: Maybe tomorrow.
- 1:51:20Speaker 2: It's creepy. Turn off the lights and watch. It's creepy.
- 1:51:23Speaker 3: But again, that kind of stuff is based on the
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: real world and it's like, I think that's another element
- 1:51:27Speaker 3: that by the end of it you're like, holy shit,
- 1:51:28Speaker 3: what just happened? I don't want to go check that noise.
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:51:32Speaker 3: I'm glad I.
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: Can stand in one room and see every single thing
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: that's going on in my whole apartment.
- 1:51:37Speaker 9: I'm glad that we're heavily armed.
- 1:51:39Speaker 5: See, that's another thing that really pissed me off about
- 1:51:42Speaker 5: the movie was the cop told her to fucking go
- 1:51:45Speaker 5: out the front door and what does she do?
- 1:51:46Speaker 10: She drops the phone and screams out for her friends.
- 1:51:50Speaker 10: And starts upstairs.
- 1:51:52Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:51:52Speaker 2: It's like, okay... She.
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: At least has the forceps.
- 1:51:55Speaker 10: To arm herself.
- 1:51:56Speaker 2: It doesn't matter. She can't use it. But again, I mean,
- 1:52:00Speaker 2: it would have seemed.
- 1:52:01Speaker 3: out of character for her to just be wussy and
- 1:52:04Speaker 3: run away. Especially knowing she doesn't know her.
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: Friends are dead.
- 1:52:09Speaker 3: But the cop fucked up because Nash is an idiot.
- 1:52:13Speaker 10: He's an idiot.
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: Yeah, he shouldn't have told her.
- 1:52:16Speaker 5: And he should have just said instead of going, okay,
- 1:52:18Speaker 5: drop the phone, whatever you do, just walk out.
- 1:52:21Speaker 3: It should have been like, oh, John Saxton's out front.
- 1:52:23Speaker 3: Go meet him.
- 1:52:24Speaker 10: Yeah, John Saxton's out front.
- 1:52:25Speaker 2: Don't worry about that.
- 1:52:26Speaker 9: John Saxton's going to kick Nash's ass.
- 1:52:29Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, he is.
- 1:52:31Speaker 3: It is one of those, especially now, it's that cliche of, no, no,
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: don't go upstairs, go out the door.
- 1:52:36Speaker 10: What are you doing? Yeah, I'm screaming at the damn screen.
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: Fucking retard.
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: That's the most plausible situation I can think of that
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: that's ever happened in a movie, where it's just like, yeah,
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: maybe I would have done the same thing, too.
- 1:52:48Speaker 3: If they were my friends, I'd arm myself and fucking
- 1:52:50Speaker 3: go upstairs. Hell, I'd do that now.
- 1:52:53Speaker 2: And there's nobody there. I'm going out the door.
- 1:52:55Speaker 3: I did it the other night. That's why I was
- 1:52:57Speaker 3: telling you I was sitting there.
- 1:52:58Speaker 2: I heard a noise.
- 1:52:59Speaker 3: I armed myself with a sword and I went downstairs
- 1:53:01Speaker 3: to see what it was. I was like, that shit
- 1:53:03Speaker 3: happens and I'm the one who's going to be like,
- 1:53:05Speaker 3: fuck that.
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: I'm not going to worry about it.
- 1:53:07Speaker 3: I'm going to go down there and stab somebody if
- 1:53:09Speaker 3: need be. But I'm taking care of what I need
- 1:53:12Speaker 3: to take care of. So, yeah, I certainly would have
- 1:53:15Speaker 3: done the same thing. Be like, in the house, well,
- 1:53:18Speaker 3: let's go find this motherfucker.
- 1:53:19Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:53:20Speaker 3: So, it's been, I mean, then once you know, it's
- 1:53:22Speaker 3: like you know it's a killer, you know he's in
- 1:53:24Speaker 3: the house. If you have sense, it's, yeah, normally horror
- 1:53:26Speaker 3: movies are just stupid. Right.
- 1:53:28Speaker 2: And they go running.
- 1:53:28Speaker 3: Around and they, you know, get themselves killed. So if
- 1:53:31Speaker 3: they had sense and took out in a way to,
- 1:53:34Speaker 3: you know, wait and kill him before, I don't know.
- 1:53:37Speaker 3: It's just so stupid the way they go about it.
- 1:53:39Speaker 3: Not necessarily that they decide to arm themselves and fight back.
- 1:53:43Speaker 3: It's just, they do it dumb.
- 1:53:44Speaker 9: She just seems incompetent to do it.
- 1:53:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:53:46Speaker 11: Right.
- 1:53:46Speaker 3: It depends.
- 1:53:47Speaker 2: It depends on the situation.
- 1:53:48Speaker 10: It depends on the situation. It depends on the person.
- 1:53:50Speaker 2: Would I do it?
- 1:53:51Speaker 10: Yeah, I'd do it.
- 1:53:51Speaker 2: But I know how to fight.
- 1:53:52Speaker 9: It seems out of character for her.
- 1:53:53Speaker 10: It seems out of very, very out.
- 1:53:55Speaker 9: Of character for her. She's so damn willing to kill
- 1:53:57Speaker 9: her own baby, but she wants to make sure her
- 1:53:58Speaker 9: friends are around.
- 1:53:59Speaker 2: Kind of, but she's also hard-headed.
- 1:54:01Speaker 3: So, I mean, he's telling her not to do it,
- 1:54:02Speaker 3: and she's like, well, maybe I will.
- 1:54:05Speaker 2: How dare a man tell me what to do? Yeah,
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: in a way. He should have told her to go upstairs.
- 1:54:10Speaker 10: Oh, yeah, she did get killed, didn't she?
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: See, Serge, you're right.
- 1:54:13Speaker 10: Told you you were going to get killed.
- 1:54:14Speaker 9: What were you saying?
- 1:54:15Speaker 6: I'm sorry.
- 1:54:15Speaker 10: No, I don't know.
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: Whatever.
- 1:54:17Speaker 2: He forgot. He'll remember later.
- 1:54:20Speaker 3: Maybe.
- 1:54:21Speaker 11: I'm fine.
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: She still got killed.
- 1:54:24Speaker 13: Ha ha.
- 1:54:25Speaker 9: We're assuming.
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: Maybe.
- 1:54:27Speaker 2: She got killed.
- 1:54:28Speaker 11: She's dead.
- 1:54:29Speaker 2: If they made a sequel, then.
- 1:54:30Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 1:54:31Speaker 3: She would have lived, but since they didn't, we can
- 1:54:32Speaker 3: assume she's dead.
- 1:54:33Speaker 2: She's dead.
- 1:54:34Speaker 10: Well, because then it.
- 1:54:34Speaker 9: Said that every time he would kill somebody, he would
- 1:54:37Speaker 9: turn on a column.
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:54:38Speaker 9: And at the very end, which were a big old
- 1:54:40Speaker 9: major spoiler alert, they zoom out on the house and.
- 1:54:43Speaker 5: Cop's standing out there, phone's ringing, he's just looking around
- 1:54:46Speaker 5: like a dumb shit.
- 1:54:48Speaker 2: Hey, somebody's calling. You're going to be the killer because
- 1:54:51Speaker 2: we already got the killer.
- 1:54:53Speaker 9: Wake up, crazy drug department lady.
- 1:54:55Speaker 11: You know?
- 1:54:58Speaker 9: I like the way they did it. I said, usually
- 1:54:59Speaker 9: that pisses me off. Usually I like backstory, I want closure,
- 1:55:02Speaker 9: but this, it works so well together.
- 1:55:05Speaker 3: And really, again, I think it's all of that. It's
- 1:55:08Speaker 3: the way that they present the killer and don't show
- 1:55:10Speaker 3: you anything. It's that creepy, gothic, cold tone to everything
- 1:55:15Speaker 3: that especially worked for it being.
- 1:55:17Speaker 14: A 70s movie.
- 1:55:18Speaker 3: I don't know, it has become one of my favorite
- 1:55:21Speaker 3: horror movies.
- 1:55:22Speaker 9: Awesome. Yeah.
- 1:55:23Speaker 14: Cool.
- 1:55:24Speaker 2: Better than I expected it.
- 1:55:26Speaker 9: And her last name's Hussie.
- 1:55:27Speaker 2: That's right. And she chose that.
- 1:55:29Speaker 3: Really? That's, uh, it's her mom's maiden name. But she
- 1:55:33Speaker 3: was born, um, what is it, Olivia some other weird.
- 1:55:37Speaker 2: Newton John.
- 1:55:39Speaker 9: Yes.
- 1:55:40Speaker 2: Yes, it was.
- 1:55:40Speaker 3: Olivia Osuna? Not that that's much better, but would you
- 1:55:45Speaker 3: choose Hussie? If you had your shot?
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: Well, she probably doesn't know.
- 1:55:51Speaker 3: But still, I mean, if you're going into show business,
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: people are going to be talking.
- 1:55:55Speaker 2: About your name.
- 1:55:56Speaker 9: Olivia Horne.
- 1:55:59Speaker 2: Olivia Trollope.
- 1:56:00Speaker 3: Kind of.
- 1:56:01Speaker 2: Realistically, she kind of did.
- 1:56:08Speaker 3: Just saying, if you're going to change it, you might
- 1:56:10Speaker 3: pick something other than Hussie.
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: Sperm dumpster.
- 1:56:14Speaker 2: Olivia's sperm dumpster.
- 1:56:17Speaker 10: And I'm J-Man Orff.
- 1:56:21Speaker 2: Fred Garvin, male prostitute. That's right.
- 1:56:25Speaker 9: Awesome. So I love this movie. I hadn't seen it
- 1:56:28Speaker 9: since probably last year. I think I watched it last
- 1:56:30Speaker 9: year around Christmas.
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: I'm going to walk my dogs with a giant mace tonight.
- 1:56:34Speaker 2: As well you should.
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: Seems like a good idea.
- 1:56:37Speaker 2: Can you swing that thing?
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: No.
- 1:56:39Speaker 9: While walking your dogs?
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: Would you fuck with.
- 1:56:41Speaker 2: Me if I was carrying a mace? She's kind of crazy.
- 1:56:45Speaker 2: I think I'll leave her alone.
- 1:56:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:56:48Speaker 10: You just kind of have to drop it on somebody.
- 1:56:50Speaker 10: You don't even really have to hit. There's one of
- 1:56:51Speaker 10: the guys at work who said, that.
- 1:56:53Speaker 2: Thing's awfully heavy.
- 1:56:54Speaker 10: He goes, you're going to be able to swing that
- 1:56:56Speaker 10: thing with full force?
- 1:56:57Speaker 2: And I was like, well, it doesn't have to be
- 1:56:59Speaker 2: full force.
- 1:57:00Speaker 5: I was like, Jed, you don't even have to use
- 1:57:01Speaker 5: full force with it. I just took it and dropped
- 1:57:03Speaker 5: it on something and he was like, holy crap.
- 1:57:05Speaker 2: Just drop it on their foot and run away. Drop
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: it on their foot and run. They're not going to
- 1:57:08Speaker 2: catch it.
- 1:57:10Speaker 10: Kneecaps. Good for hitting kneecaps.
- 1:57:14Speaker 3: Alright, on that note, we'll round out Black Christmas and
- 1:57:17Speaker 3: we'll be back to wrap up the show. We'll be right.
- 1:57:23Speaker 6: Back.
- 1:57:24Speaker 2: We'll be right back.
- 1:57:53Speaker 23: Hey, Movie Meltdowners, this is Mags from the All Games Considered.
- 1:58:05Speaker 15: Podcast, a fellow Louisvillian here, just wanting to call and

- 1:58:17Speaker 15: get lots of freaky movies to talk about.
- 1:58:19Speaker 18: You take care.
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: Bye-bye.
- 1:58:29Speaker 11: Thank you for listening.

- 1:58:44Speaker 16: Hey, she's right, though.
- 1:58:46Speaker 20: It's been too long, and a lot has happened since
- 1:58:48Speaker 20: the last promo.

- 1:58:57Speaker 15: There's the new format.

- 1:59:04Speaker 9: review in new shows.
- 1:59:05Speaker 20: Don't forget the RPG buffet. And on the main show,
- 1:59:08Speaker 20: we have more time to focus on gaming topics.
- 1:59:10Speaker 15: Like board and card games.
- 1:59:11Speaker 20: And RPGs. And the people who play them, from the
- 1:59:14Speaker 20: old school to the newest of the new.

- 2:00:01Speaker 10: You know, you haven't seen enough movies. All of life's
- 2:00:04Speaker 10: riddles are answered in the movies.
- 2:00:06Speaker 11: And now, on with the show.
- 2:00:09Speaker 8: We're going to have the hap-hap-happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby's
- 2:00:15Speaker 8: half-dance with Danny fucking Kane.
- 2:00:19Speaker 19: Sleigh bells ring, are you listening? In the lane, snow
- 2:00:25Speaker 19: is glistening. A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight. Walking in
- 2:00:32Speaker 19: winter wonderland. Gone away is the bluebird. Here to stay
- 2:00:40Speaker 19: is the new bird. He sings a love song as
- 2:00:44Speaker 19: we go along Walking in the winter wonderland.
- 2:00:49Speaker 9: Talk about Scott Weiland's Christmas album.
- 2:00:52Speaker 12: Oh, wow.
- 2:00:53Speaker 2: That's gotta be it. Do you know how many people
- 2:00:56Speaker 2: have traumatized with that work?
- 2:00:57Speaker 10: Yeah, I've showed a couple.
- 2:01:00Speaker 3: I kept showing people.
- 2:01:01Speaker 10: Randy's thing on that thing. Oh, wow.
- 2:01:04Speaker 9: That was.
- 2:01:05Speaker 10: It's horrible.
- 2:01:07Speaker 2: It's horrible.
- 2:01:08Speaker 3: It's frightening.
- 2:01:09Speaker 9: Trying to sing like Bing Crosby.
- 2:01:11Speaker 3: It's frightening.
- 2:01:13Speaker 2: Apple fritters.
- 2:01:15Speaker 11: And the other.
- 2:01:16Speaker 2: Okay, I already told you the.
- 2:01:18Speaker 3: My version of it was he's so drugged up now
- 2:01:20Speaker 3: he actually thinks he's Bing Crosby. And then I decided
- 2:01:23Speaker 3: he was being held at gunpoint because he looks like
- 2:01:26Speaker 3: he does not want to be doing what he's doing.
- 2:01:28Speaker 3: But the final one, it was funny, they were like, damn,
- 2:01:31Speaker 3: I think you're right. I was like, remember the Bodies
- 2:01:34Speaker 3: Alive tour that came through with those plasticine dead bodies?
- 2:01:38Speaker 2: That's kind of what his face looks like the whole time.
- 2:01:41Speaker 3: He's just got that creepy, not human, but sort of
