- 0:15Speaker 1: Pauli Fosco here with Tony Fosco with Donate.
- 0:18Speaker 2: This is what we call a special bonus episode for
- 0:22Speaker 2: you out there. You know, with these NBA finals being
- 0:25Speaker 2: so historically crappy, you know there's a hole in the
- 0:28Speaker 2: market right now for a basketball content that people actually
- 0:31Speaker 2: want to watch, you know, that doesn't put them to sleep.
- 0:34Speaker 2: That's why we're bringing you a special show today. Right,
- 0:36Speaker 2: everyone knows the worst part of the show is of
- 0:39Speaker 2: course the producer. We all know that. But a close
- 0:42Speaker 2: second is a terrible horrible guests. Right, So that's why
- 0:45Speaker 2: we're going to go and bring you our worst NBA
- 0:48Speaker 2: guest interviews through the years, well the past couple of years,
- 0:52Speaker 2: because we didn't bother searching for that long.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Ye know that's true. Went two years back and said
- 0:56Speaker 1: that's it. But when we say worst, by the way,
- 0:58Speaker 1: of course we were perfect. Yeah, but they were suck. Yeah,
- 1:03Speaker 1: don't worry, Well we don't.
- 1:04Speaker 2: We're gonna dunk on all these losers and you're gonna
- 1:07Speaker 2: get to enjoy it. Again, because we already know you'll
- 1:09Speaker 2: listen to watch, but go back and do it again,
- 1:11Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Exactly, you know you have to listen and watch again.
- 1:15Speaker 3: I mean, you know people are gonna say shows like
- 1:17Speaker 3: this are just recycling old content.
- 1:20Speaker 1: But is it recycling good you know for the planet?
- 1:24Speaker 2: Great point, Tony, And well, before we get into the
- 1:27Speaker 2: whole show and everything, you remember, you know you like
- 1:30Speaker 2: your subscribe your review on Apple Podcasts. You know all
- 1:33Speaker 2: that jazz, right, Tonty, they gotta do it.
- 1:35Speaker 3: When we say all that jazz, we don't mean the
- 1:38Speaker 3: Utah jazz because that would be even more boring NBA content.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't mean the Utah jazz because that would
- 1:44Speaker 2: be more terrible content anyway. All right, all right, let's
- 1:47Speaker 2: get into the clips there, right, this first one, it's
- 1:50Speaker 2: from the summer of twenty twenty four. All right, so
- 1:53Speaker 2: this is when Team USA basketball somehow almost lost.
- 1:57Speaker 1: To South Sudan.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yeah, so we brought the former NBA big man Olden
- 2:02Speaker 2: Polonies on to talk about it, and well here's what
- 2:05Speaker 2: happened roll that Daylight World. Okay, Well, he's returning to
- 2:12Speaker 2: the show for a second time, despite the first appearance
- 2:15Speaker 2: being you know, I'll put this politely, a horrible train wreck,
- 2:19Speaker 2: but that's we're going to start over.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Glean, slate clean.
- 2:23Speaker 2: He's one of the NBA's Yeah, yes, there you go, Olden.
- 2:26Speaker 2: He's one of the NBA's all time iconic big men
- 2:30Speaker 2: seven foot played for the Kings, Clippers, Pistons. Also one
- 2:33Speaker 2: of the very first international basketball stars. Now he's a
- 2:37Speaker 2: Fox Sports NBA analyst, just the perfect person to have
- 2:41Speaker 2: on the show right now. So let's go ahead and
- 2:43Speaker 2: bring him in, Olden, polonies, Welcome back, Welcome back, Golden.
- 2:48Speaker 4: I still don't know how I decided to do this again,
- 2:51Speaker 4: but thank you for having me back on.
- 2:54Speaker 2: We may have gone a little time, you know, mainly
- 3:00Speaker 2: on you, but exactly.
- 3:01Speaker 5: It's on me. Well, you know it's on me.
- 3:05Speaker 3: You were rude, okay, you know you didn't see things,
- 3:08Speaker 3: were trying to didn't kind of seeing the right way.
- 3:11Speaker 4: First of all, you should have known I wasn't going
- 3:13Speaker 4: to agree, especially with that Eagles jersey.
- 3:15Speaker 1: On Oh who do you root for? Yeah?
- 3:18Speaker 5: The Giants?
- 3:20Speaker 2: Oh like we're supposed to know that. So what though
- 3:23Speaker 2: we didn't bring you on in a talk NFL Olympic basketball.
- 3:27Speaker 2: You know, maybe you shouldn't be producing sports. Talk to
- 3:29Speaker 2: stay as a guest. But okay, we're going to go
- 3:31Speaker 2: into basketball. Okay, Older, we can.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Talk about Annie, we can talk about curling if you
- 3:37Speaker 4: want to.
- 3:38Speaker 2: We don't want we don't want to lose our audience.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Stay on topic, old, Yeah, okay, all right, now you.
- 3:43Speaker 5: Mentioned your my apologies.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Okay, right, you mentioned you're a Giants fan.
- 3:48Speaker 2: We understand why you know because I said, here I
- 3:50Speaker 2: see her in your bio. It says you were born
- 3:53Speaker 2: in Haiti, but then you grew up in the Bronx.
- 3:56Speaker 5: Well, so tell us I grew up in Harlem.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Okay, okay, I went to school in the Bronx.
- 4:04Speaker 1: So tell us between Haiti and Harlem, which was worse?
- 4:12Speaker 4: Oh my god, uh, I'm gonna say Haiti was a
- 4:16Speaker 4: little bit worse than Harlem. Oh okay, I actually had
- 4:19Speaker 4: I actually had indoor plumbing and Harlem.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Oh I see. Okay, that is a big plus. That's
- 4:24Speaker 2: a big plus. We bring this up for a reason.
- 4:27Speaker 2: That's you know, you saw it old and just a
- 4:30Speaker 2: truly stunning outcome in men's basketball team USA almost losing
- 4:34Speaker 2: to South Sudan. Now when you look at this, break
- 4:38Speaker 2: it down do you think the South Sudan team was
- 4:40Speaker 2: so good because you know, they were literally the hungry
- 4:43Speaker 2: A team.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Oh my god, they were the hungry AT team.
- 4:51Speaker 4: You know, they were the more determined team. They wanted
- 4:55Speaker 4: to win more, but unfortunately they didn't and that was
- 4:59Speaker 4: because of a bad had no call by the referees.
- 5:01Speaker 3: But you know, Team USA wasn't great either, So you know,
- 5:05Speaker 3: do you think the problem for Team USA is that
- 5:08Speaker 3: all these soft modern athletes with their nutritionists and their
- 5:12Speaker 3: protein bars, maybe less nutrition would be the way to
- 5:16Speaker 3: go because then they could be hungrier to win to win.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, I don't know about all that, but I
- 5:26Speaker 4: just feel that personally, I feel that there's not much
- 5:30Speaker 4: that these guys are playing for US. You know, the
- 5:33Speaker 4: other countries they are playing for team pride, country pride,
- 5:37Speaker 4: and for everything else. And I don't believe that our
- 5:40Speaker 4: athletes are playing for the USA. I believe they're playing
- 5:43Speaker 4: more for the endorsements and shoe deals and everything else.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Right, I'm the Chinese, and the Chinese they go old
- 5:50Speaker 2: and perfectly said. But you do know something about this,
- 5:55Speaker 2: because we look this up. It said on your Wikipedia
- 5:58Speaker 2: you did a hunger strike in nineteen ninety three to
- 6:01Speaker 2: protest something or other.
- 6:02Speaker 1: But the point of the protest is beside the point.
- 6:05Speaker 2: The stats show that you had your best statistical year
- 6:09Speaker 2: in the nineteen ninety three ninety four season. Do you
- 6:12Speaker 2: think that starving yourself like that led the better output
- 6:15Speaker 2: on the court? You know, you had that hunger, had
- 6:17Speaker 2: that hunger.
- 6:24Speaker 4: I can't Oh my god, Yes that's what it was.
- 6:28Speaker 5: No, that's not it. Okay, Oh oh okay. I was getting.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Minutes, and you know I just played a really solid
- 6:39Speaker 4: season also, and then.
- 6:41Speaker 1: It's on the corner in the cafeteria. Where were you
- 6:43Speaker 1: getting the minutes on the court.
- 6:45Speaker 5: I was getting the minutes.
- 6:46Speaker 4: I had a good sidekick and Bill Lambiert, So it
- 6:50Speaker 4: allowed me the freedom to do more. You know, I
- 6:53Speaker 4: didn't have to play center all the time. That's all
- 6:56Speaker 4: it was.
- 6:56Speaker 3: So what you're saying is that you were hungry for
- 7:00Speaker 3: this new opportunity.
- 7:03Speaker 5: Yeah, but not for food. I was just hungry for rebounds.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Do you think that your career went downhill though after
- 7:09Speaker 2: that when you started eating?
- 7:16Speaker 1: I can't with you guys asking a serious question.
- 7:21Speaker 4: Yes, hey man, let me tell y'all something, man, this
- 7:25Speaker 4: show is very interesting.
- 7:27Speaker 5: All right, number one, I eat before games. I'm well fed.
- 7:35Speaker 4: My determination was the reason I got my rebounds and
- 7:39Speaker 4: scored the points.
- 7:40Speaker 5: That had nothing to do with anything else.
- 7:42Speaker 4: Okay, when I went under hunger strike, I did that
- 7:46Speaker 4: to protest the US policies. But I was you know,
- 7:49Speaker 4: I went ten days without eating and it was rough,
- 7:53Speaker 4: you know. And still try to play back except on.
- 7:56Speaker 1: The scoreboard, great score, great in the status.
- 7:58Speaker 5: Ht me alone about this eating thing I've eaten?
- 8:01Speaker 2: Okay, all right, you know, but older us, there's food.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Leads to another question, because you're such a great role
- 8:08Speaker 2: model for us. Okay, yeah, you know you have a
- 8:11Speaker 2: sudden You have a son who plays ball at Lost
- 8:15Speaker 2: Beach State, right Chase Polonies? Now, first question, why didn't
- 8:19Speaker 2: you name your son youngin Polonies? Yeah? It seems like
- 8:23Speaker 2: a total missed opportunity and young.
- 8:26Speaker 5: Yeah that's horrible.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Oh, because I would never do that to my child.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Oh well, who did it to? Who called you olden?
- 8:36Speaker 1: I mean, what were they? What was going on there?
- 8:38Speaker 5: A great name? Yeah? Okay, so y'all need to stop.
- 8:41Speaker 4: See now now you mean disrespectful to my parents name.
- 8:49Speaker 1: It was a great name.
- 8:50Speaker 4: If you did your research, you would know where my
- 8:54Speaker 4: name came from. Okay, there's a slight change in my name,
- 8:58Speaker 4: kind of like a chem Olajuan used to be a
- 9:00Speaker 4: k E E M. And then he went back to
- 9:02Speaker 4: the original with the age. I was the same way.
- 9:05Speaker 4: I just never went back to the original. H. So
- 9:07Speaker 4: you are I was holding? I was named after William Holding,
- 9:12Speaker 4: the actor that was my grandfather's favorite act.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Wow from The Godfather.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Hit that breaking news button.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Wow here first, William William Holden was never in The Godfather.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Wait a minute, William Holding the drunk actor. We're sending
- 9:29Speaker 1: this to the poets. Hey, alright, you.
- 9:31Speaker 4: Do not pronounce his so in my ear, I'm hearing
- 9:34Speaker 4: all den all den, Oh, hearing the age.
- 9:38Speaker 5: So I just started writing my name with an oh.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Wow.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:44Speaker 4: See you learned something today. Congratulations.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Well why did you name your son Chase? You're a
- 9:50Speaker 1: fan of the bank or something.
- 9:53Speaker 5: I actually do banking, Chase.
- 9:55Speaker 1: See there you go.
- 9:56Speaker 2: But you you you've been a defender of Bronnie James, right,
- 10:00Speaker 2: and you know you tweeted something the other day.
- 10:02Speaker 1: You tweeted, Uh.
- 10:03Speaker 2: It baffles me that people have issues with Bronnie James.
- 10:07Speaker 2: The young man has a dream to play in the
- 10:09Speaker 2: NBA like his father. He worked his ass off to
- 10:12Speaker 2: become a legit prospect. Yet folks have an issue. Grow
- 10:16Speaker 2: up people, now, I don't think you understand Olden. Yeah. See,
- 10:21Speaker 2: you said he plays like he wants to play in
- 10:23Speaker 2: the NBA like his father.
- 10:24Speaker 1: He doesn't play like his father. He plays much worse
- 10:27Speaker 1: than his father.
- 10:28Speaker 5: Yeah, he stinks father.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Than his father. He's like his father, his father.
- 10:36Speaker 5: He's not good enough to be lebron lebron.
- 10:38Speaker 2: But you you clearly said he wants to play like
- 10:41Speaker 2: his father said it.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Those are your words.
- 10:45Speaker 5: Oh my god, I don't mean exactly like his father.
- 10:49Speaker 2: And I was taking it back. I think you might
- 10:52Speaker 2: be lightheaded. You might need to eat something. Look, listen,
- 10:57Speaker 2: let me let's just take our advice. Old And you
- 10:59Speaker 2: work for farther sports as an analyst. If you want
- 11:01Speaker 2: people to trust your judgment, you need to do better.
- 11:04Speaker 5: Here.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Look at the camera and say, Bronnie give it up.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Retire now, come on the camera, tell Bronnie to retire.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Oh okay, all right, okay, you know what, go to the.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Regrigerator right now, because you know what's getting Olden, you
- 11:18Speaker 2: won the shows, you shot the show We're not playing
- 11:23Speaker 2: nice anymore. You're volume holding this show down? You should
- 11:28Speaker 2: you holding this show down?
- 11:30Speaker 1: Show? Is he off the line? Jay, hang up the phone.
- 11:37Speaker 2: You know you should have never had him on the
- 11:38Speaker 2: show again. Just a terrible attitude, terrible. He seemed really angry.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Yeah, he did.
- 11:44Speaker 5: Well.
- 11:45Speaker 1: That was terrible, horrible.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Although it does sound, Tony like our first interview with
- 11:50Speaker 2: him was even worse. But do you even remember what
- 11:53Speaker 2: happened in that interview?
- 11:54Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 11:55Speaker 3: You know, it must be so bad that I blocked
- 11:57Speaker 3: it out because I have no recollection wants to do
- 12:00Speaker 3: no recollection anymore.
- 12:01Speaker 2: We'll be right back after this commercial. All right, we're
- 12:05Speaker 2: back with our worst of NBA guests. All right, this
- 12:08Speaker 2: next clip, this is from twenty twenty four. All so,
- 12:12Speaker 2: this time in May, during the playoffs, we had on
- 12:15Speaker 2: former Celtic and Twan Walker. Just a terrible interview. You're
- 12:19Speaker 2: about to watch it now. You have to remember this
- 12:21Speaker 2: interview took place in a far off time when the
- 12:25Speaker 2: Sixers were actually good.
- 12:27Speaker 1: I don't even remember that, Tony, I.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Know, you know, to be honest, I'm having trouble remembering
- 12:33Speaker 3: that time period.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Also.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very hard to remember, so just you keep
- 12:38Speaker 2: that in mind when you're listening as we walk back
- 12:40Speaker 2: down on memory lane. Here May twenty twenty four and
- 12:44Speaker 2: Twin Walker roll.
- 12:45Speaker 1: That clip satur light in the world. Okay, we'll admit.
- 12:51Speaker 2: You know, this guy put together an okay basketball resume,
- 12:54Speaker 2: you know, decent. Okay, he won the tourney while at Kentucky.
- 12:57Speaker 2: He was a champion with the Miami Heaton two thousand
- 13:00Speaker 2: and six and not with Lebron. So that makes it
- 13:02Speaker 2: slightly easier to digest three time All Star known as
- 13:07Speaker 2: a Celtics great, even though those two words really don't
- 13:10Speaker 2: belong together. You can't be great and be on the Celtics,
- 13:13Speaker 2: you know. Anyway, y'all, let's just get him in antwine. Walker,
- 13:16Speaker 2: welcome back to the show.
- 13:18Speaker 5: Thanks for having me. Guys, you got to you gotta
- 13:20Speaker 5: add too. Though.
- 13:21Speaker 6: I'm one of the one of the few players. I
- 13:25Speaker 6: don't know the number. I used to keep up with
- 13:26Speaker 6: the number. There's one one in college and pro now,
- 13:28Speaker 6: so I speak, I speak as you know.
- 13:30Speaker 5: I'm like a little.
- 13:31Speaker 6: Different than everybody else. It's only about fifty or sixty
- 13:34Speaker 6: of us. They won a championship in cars and pro.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Have that conversation with your publicists first before you come
- 13:40Speaker 2: on the show.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Exactly, just know I'm on that list list, all right,
- 13:46Speaker 1: He's right good, we've established that.
- 13:48Speaker 2: And also we know you, We know your pr people
- 13:50Speaker 2: are falling down on the job.
- 13:51Speaker 1: We just stablished that though. Exactly. All right, Look, we're
- 13:54Speaker 1: going to get.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Into this six is nixt series soon. But you know
- 13:58Speaker 2: something up top, we got to adre us with you.
- 14:00Speaker 2: You know, the other day you made headlines when you
- 14:03Speaker 2: came out and said the best Celtic scorer of all
- 14:06Speaker 2: time was not Larry Bird but Paul Pierce. So that
- 14:11Speaker 2: leads to my next question here. Has anyone from Boston
- 14:14Speaker 2: tried to murder you yet?
- 14:17Speaker 5: No, not yet.
- 14:18Speaker 6: But I mean I'm talking about pure a store that
- 14:21Speaker 6: can go inside, outside, get to the foul line. We
- 14:25Speaker 6: know Birds there, but Paul was a little bit and
- 14:28Speaker 6: a little bit more athletic to Paul.
- 14:30Speaker 5: Not that much though, that's a little bit.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Just so we're clear, when you were talking about scoring,
- 14:35Speaker 3: were you talking about on the court or off the court?
- 14:39Speaker 3: Because you know, I've seen Instagram videos with Paul Pierce
- 14:43Speaker 3: and he's definitely a terrific scorer.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it does very well.
- 14:47Speaker 5: Yeah, court off, I'm talking on I don't know what.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Right. Don't play it safe there. He's a media person.
- 14:56Speaker 1: He's playing.
- 14:58Speaker 2: You know, you probably don't want to remember, but you
- 15:00Speaker 2: did play for the Timberwolves at one point in your career.
- 15:03Speaker 2: How confusing is it to you that the Timberwolves are
- 15:06Speaker 2: now actually a good team. Does your brain have as
- 15:09Speaker 2: much trouble processing that as everybody else's?
- 15:12Speaker 5: Does I do?
- 15:15Speaker 6: Because I knew that it wasn't a big free agent market,
- 15:18Speaker 6: so I knew it was gonna be hard for them
- 15:20Speaker 6: to like lure superstar there. But they've drafted well, we
- 15:24Speaker 6: got to get them. Credit Carl, Anthony Towles, Anthony Edwitds.
- 15:28Speaker 6: These guys have turned out to be all stars and
- 15:30Speaker 6: superstars in our league. They made a couple of great moves.
- 15:34Speaker 6: I mean to acquire Rudy Gobert.
- 15:36Speaker 2: About those great moves. Do you see what Mike Conley
- 15:39Speaker 2: did the other night running into his coach accidentally and
- 15:44Speaker 2: knocking him out?
- 15:44Speaker 1: You saw that?
- 15:45Speaker 5: Yeah? I did see that. Man.
- 15:47Speaker 1: When you saw that, I was a terrialic.
- 15:48Speaker 2: The thing back when you are on the Timberwolves, your
- 15:50Speaker 2: coach was Randy witz More, one of the worst coaches
- 15:53Speaker 2: in NBA history Looking back now, don't you think it
- 15:55Speaker 2: would have been smarter you to maybe, you know, accidentally
- 15:58Speaker 2: just run in through him and knock him out of commission,
- 16:01Speaker 2: you know, getting flips on his back of something.
- 16:04Speaker 6: No, we were terrible, man, My Minnesota days were bad.
- 16:07Speaker 6: I was on a bad team, bad situation. They won
- 16:10Speaker 6: a youth movement. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna throw
- 16:12Speaker 6: Randy women under the bus like that.
- 16:14Speaker 5: But the team was bad. The organization was going in
- 16:16Speaker 5: a totally different direction. When I was there.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Well, we didn't say throw him under a bus. Literally,
- 16:21Speaker 2: we just meant injured, you know, we met like, hurt
- 16:23Speaker 2: his knee.
- 16:25Speaker 6: No, I wouldn't hurt his knee. Randy was cool to me.
- 16:27Speaker 6: He was cool. We just were We just were not
- 16:29Speaker 6: very good.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Okayna's going on there that made you not good?
- 16:36Speaker 5: What happened?
- 16:36Speaker 2: It was just kind of just being on the table.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Wolves Was that the problem? Hold?
- 16:40Speaker 6: Well, I think one it was too cold and I'm
- 16:44Speaker 6: from Chicago and that that's a different type of cold
- 16:46Speaker 6: up there. But just obviously the youth movement. They were
- 16:51Speaker 6: in the youth movement. When I got there, I was
- 16:52Speaker 6: in the back end of my career. I wasn't trying
- 16:55Speaker 6: to be in a youth movement situation. I just come
- 16:57Speaker 6: and win the NBA Championship and playing for the Miami Heat.
- 17:01Speaker 5: I was not trying to go to a team that
- 17:02Speaker 5: was in a rebuild situation. So it was tough just
- 17:06Speaker 5: kind of going to.
- 17:07Speaker 6: That after leaving the Miami Heat and playing for championships.
- 17:10Speaker 5: So that's what made it hard for me.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that that to be tough, going from a championship
- 17:15Speaker 2: team to the Timberwolves.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Yea, what is that like?
- 17:18Speaker 2: Is that like when you're you know, like in a
- 17:20Speaker 2: jacuzzi and then you get out and it's like super cold,
- 17:23Speaker 2: and you know, your thing shrivels up? Is that how
- 17:25Speaker 2: that type of how that feels?
- 17:29Speaker 5: Yes? Like that? Okay, look, I would never look at
- 17:34Speaker 5: it that way, but it's something like.
- 17:36Speaker 1: There you go.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Now you get yeah, all right, the guy wants to
- 17:39Speaker 2: know his thing will never shrivel up like that?
- 17:41Speaker 1: Get okay?
- 17:42Speaker 2: Week anyway, Look, you never played for the Lakers, but
- 17:46Speaker 2: you know, there's been a lot of talk about there
- 17:48Speaker 2: about this Bronnie James. Bronnie James. You know, everybody thinks
- 17:51Speaker 2: he's he wants to play with his dad. But oss
- 17:54Speaker 2: is dellas that now that Lebron is flamed out of
- 17:57Speaker 2: the playoffs in the first round, you know also us
- 18:00Speaker 2: to say Bronnie James is now having second thoughts about
- 18:03Speaker 2: playing with his dad. In fact, we hear he's openly
- 18:07Speaker 2: saying that he wishes Jamal Murray was his father, even
- 18:11Speaker 2: calling himself Jamali among friends. What is your reaction to
- 18:16Speaker 2: this just stunning development.
- 18:19Speaker 6: I think that's all false. I don't think that's none
- 18:21Speaker 6: of that's true. I think the only thing that's true
- 18:24Speaker 6: is I think Jamal Murray has had a dominated the
- 18:28Speaker 6: Lakers over the last couple of years. That and that's
- 18:30Speaker 6: that's actual facts. The Devin Nuggets have dominated the Lakers.
- 18:34Speaker 6: But I think leb Brownie would love to play with
- 18:37Speaker 6: his dad. I think it'd be it would be a
- 18:39Speaker 6: great thing. I don't know if it's going to happen.
- 18:41Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 18:42Speaker 6: I don't know what sports, I don't know what it
- 18:45Speaker 6: does for sports. Just as a father from Lebron is
- 18:48Speaker 6: probably an unbelievable feeling to be in the same NBA
- 18:51Speaker 6: locker room playing alongside your son.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Such a shame. That's not gonna happen anymore.
- 18:58Speaker 5: I don't think it's gonna hap. I don't think it's
- 18:59Speaker 5: gonna happed to.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Say the same thing, so good, the same There we go,
- 19:06Speaker 2: There we go, we to the Timberwolves.
- 19:08Speaker 6: Well, no, I think I think Brianni needs to go
- 19:10Speaker 6: back to college. I think if Lebron, I think, if
- 19:13Speaker 6: Lebron wants to do right by his son and get
- 19:16Speaker 6: him ready and prepare to play at the NBA level,
- 19:19Speaker 6: and I think he should go back to college and
- 19:21Speaker 6: enjoy college. I don't think he's ready for the NBA.
- 19:24Speaker 6: He didn't start last year. He played, you know, well,
- 19:27Speaker 6: how mean minutes he played a game ten fifteen?
- 19:30Speaker 1: Nobody knows. And I don't know. I never saw him.
- 19:33Speaker 6: I don't think he's ready yet. I think, you know,
- 19:35Speaker 6: he needs another year of college. I think he should
- 19:36Speaker 6: have an opportunity to enjoy college. It shouldn't be all
- 19:39Speaker 6: predicated on him making it to the NBA and enjoy college.
- 19:42Speaker 5: Planning playing the tournament, planning sixteen.
- 19:46Speaker 2: I mean, exactly, go to a team with a better
- 19:48Speaker 2: chance of winning a title like Florida Atlantic, you.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Know, exactly university. Yeah there, but you.
- 19:55Speaker 6: Know what we could we could think about it felt
- 19:57Speaker 6: we could really think about. You know, that was kind
- 19:59Speaker 6: of I don't know if Lebron really that was the
- 20:01Speaker 6: decision because he was in California. But is that the
- 20:04Speaker 6: school he really wanted to go to. He was getting
- 20:06Speaker 6: recruited by everybody, right, you know what I mean? So
- 20:10Speaker 6: that maybe picked the wrong school, gets to the right
- 20:12Speaker 6: situation so you can enjoy college.
- 20:14Speaker 1: And it's so smart too.
- 20:15Speaker 3: If he plays like another three four years, maybe he
- 20:18Speaker 3: goes to grad school, plays an extra year. By then
- 20:21Speaker 3: Lebron will have retired and he won't have to play
- 20:24Speaker 3: with them.
- 20:24Speaker 1: There you go, Yeah, you're not lying.
- 20:27Speaker 6: Lebron is like the energizing money. It seems like he
- 20:29Speaker 6: never gonna retire. I just was reading this more than
- 20:32Speaker 6: watch his sports. I don't know if you guys saw that.
- 20:33Speaker 6: They're talking about maybe he gets another two three year deal.
- 20:37Speaker 5: What is that? Just?
- 20:38Speaker 1: Is that just with what depends? Like what is he
- 20:42Speaker 1: gonna he can?
- 20:45Speaker 6: No, he can he can opt out this summer and
- 20:48Speaker 6: become a free agent. So they were saying the Lakers
- 20:51Speaker 6: may sign him to another two three year deal after this.
- 20:55Speaker 2: That would be great, sour Wow, wow, this is breaking news,
- 20:59Speaker 2: breaking new break walker, breaking news, on his shoes. Bro,
- 21:05Speaker 2: more terrible decisions by the Lake, by the Lakers there,
- 21:07Speaker 2: you go, exactly, all right.
- 21:12Speaker 6: But I know that's I mean, he has that, he
- 21:14Speaker 6: has that option though he has like take fifty one
- 21:17Speaker 6: fifty two million that he makes next year, but he
- 21:20Speaker 6: can opt out and sign a new deal this summer.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Well, I heard that Brownie wants to opt out of
- 21:25Speaker 2: the family. So you know we're gonna have double moves here.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Exactly, Bro, I got that.
- 21:29Speaker 5: I thought you want to.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Well, you know your source is different than ours, you know,
- 21:33Speaker 2: beg to different. All right, let's move to the Sixers here.
- 21:36Speaker 2: How impressed are you with this Sixers team? Antoine? You know,
- 21:39Speaker 2: they go into Game five in New York truly hostile territory,
- 21:43Speaker 2: the city descending into chaos, protests at that war zone
- 21:47Speaker 2: known as Columbia University. Wasn't this the most bravest under
- 21:52Speaker 2: pressure performance you've ever seen?
- 21:54Speaker 1: Ye?
- 21:56Speaker 5: I don't know about that, but I thought it was.
- 21:58Speaker 5: I thought it was a great performance.
- 21:59Speaker 6: And and we've we've all and you guys have done it.
- 22:02Speaker 5: I'm sure.
- 22:02Speaker 6: Uh. In the past, we've all criticized and b and
- 22:05Speaker 6: and his injuries and how he played the way guy's
- 22:09Speaker 6: gutting it out and giving this chance the team to win.
- 22:11Speaker 5: We got to give him a lot of credit. So
- 22:15Speaker 5: I'm not gonna don't. I don't want to. I don't
- 22:16Speaker 5: want to make might of that.
- 22:18Speaker 6: The fact that how he's playing, he's basically on one
- 22:20Speaker 6: leg and he's out there trying to will his way
- 22:22Speaker 6: through this series.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Absolutely, And the other thing he has is at home games,
- 22:26Speaker 2: he has these nick fans showing.
- 22:30Speaker 6: So let me let me ask you guys about that though.
- 22:32Speaker 6: Since you bring that up, though, how do you feel
- 22:34Speaker 6: about that? How do how do they get those tickets?
- 22:36Speaker 5: Like that?
- 22:37Speaker 2: We got a great we got a solution for you
- 22:40Speaker 2: and Twine. Listen to what Tony came up with here.
- 22:42Speaker 7: Listen.
- 22:43Speaker 3: So now we avoid this in the future, we are
- 22:46Speaker 3: introducing fan I D legislation. You know, if you need
- 22:51Speaker 3: a passport to enter our country, then shouldn't you need
- 22:55Speaker 3: a passport to enter a game? Make sure you're a
- 22:58Speaker 3: fan of the team, you know, we just simply have
- 23:01Speaker 3: the government check fans home addresses, social security numbers and
- 23:06Speaker 3: make them pass a written test, and that way we
- 23:09Speaker 3: can stop illegal fans from entering our games.
- 23:14Speaker 6: I don't like that, how about what you guys, stop
- 23:17Speaker 6: publicly going after the fans and telling them to come
- 23:20Speaker 6: out and support the Sixers. Just like you got your
- 23:24Speaker 6: Eagles jersey on, you got your Eagles background, support the
- 23:28Speaker 6: Sixers the same way.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Once you gotta start, we do. But if the Knicks
- 23:33Speaker 1: buy the tickets.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Migrating into games and stealing yours, what can we do?
- 23:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm pretty sure these tickets go on sale at
- 23:44Speaker 6: the same time.
- 23:45Speaker 5: What's with y'all fans? Y'all wait around, y'all.
- 23:47Speaker 1: You want to blame the fans.
- 23:48Speaker 2: You want to blame the fans New York Will Yorkers
- 23:51Speaker 2: who come down. Yeah, first you know they're squatting our stands.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Then they're squatting in their universities. They're squatting all over
- 23:59Speaker 1: the squat and that's what they do.
- 24:00Speaker 2: That back right now, you apologize to the Sixers fans
- 24:03Speaker 2: is not apologize to the best fan base in sports.
- 24:06Speaker 5: I love the Sixers fans.
- 24:08Speaker 6: I love the passion, the passion you got for your
- 24:10Speaker 6: teams and how how you make it really difficult at
- 24:14Speaker 6: times to play in Filly.
- 24:16Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:17Speaker 6: But the problem with you, guys, it's embarrassing a little
- 24:20Speaker 6: bit that you guys are Let the New York fans
- 24:22Speaker 6: come in and get these tickets.
- 24:24Speaker 5: What's going on?
- 24:26Speaker 1: You know what's embarrassing?
- 24:27Speaker 2: You know it's embarrassing you coming in here, you because
- 24:30Speaker 2: you talk like that.
- 24:31Speaker 1: And walker, well you're going to be walking right now.
- 24:34Speaker 1: You're walking.
- 24:36Speaker 7: You ain't.
- 24:40Speaker 1: The short row, so.
- 24:44Speaker 5: Shad like you guys can have the constructive criticism.
- 24:49Speaker 1: What don't you know a phone.
- 24:52Speaker 2: On this guy?
- 24:53Speaker 1: Is he off the line? Jay, hang up the phone.
- 24:56Speaker 1: You know one thing we will never allow on the show.
- 24:58Speaker 2: We will never mock the proud fans of Philly on
- 25:01Speaker 2: this show.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Never. That's something we would never do. Ever.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Well, that was all very rude of him, all around rude.
- 25:09Speaker 3: That's why he hasn't been back on the show since.
- 25:12Speaker 2: They're terrible, terrible mistake by him. All right, Don will
- 25:14Speaker 2: be right back after this break. All right, we're back
- 25:19Speaker 2: with our worst of now our next terrible guest.
- 25:21Speaker 1: There.
- 25:22Speaker 2: We're gonna go back two years now, Tony. This is
- 25:24Speaker 2: from May twenty twenty three. We brought on NBA legend
- 25:29Speaker 2: Katino Mobley to talk about Jah Morant in that whole
- 25:33Speaker 2: gun situation which you amb but this was also when
- 25:37Speaker 2: the Sixers fired Doc Rivers. Well, now you know, Doc
- 25:41Speaker 2: Rivers is killing another team right in front of our eyes,
- 25:43Speaker 2: the Bucks. So that makes this all very relevant. You know,
- 25:46Speaker 2: it feels like totally fresh content. It's gonna feel fresh
- 25:49Speaker 2: when you.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Watch, exactly, and just a great example of how recycling
- 25:54Speaker 3: is good for content and the planet exactly.
- 25:57Speaker 1: This is just a great reuse of content here.
- 26:00Speaker 2: So let's go back May twenty twenty three, Katino Mobiley
- 26:03Speaker 2: roll that tape Saturnlight. All Right, this guy native son,
- 26:12Speaker 2: born right here in Philadelphia. Twelve year NBA that we
- 26:17Speaker 2: couldn't be more proud of. Of course six as we would
- 26:20Speaker 2: have been proud of.
- 26:21Speaker 1: But we would have been much prouder plat for.
- 26:23Speaker 2: The Rockets, the Magic, the Kings, the Clippers. Now he's
- 26:27Speaker 2: on Fox Sports as an analyst and he's also a
- 26:29Speaker 2: motivational speaker.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Wows a lot.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Anyway, let's bring him on Katino mobiley. Welcome to the show.
- 26:37Speaker 7: Guys, how you doing man hey.
- 26:40Speaker 2: And you know, on the subject of how we do it,
- 26:42Speaker 2: you know, we know you had a bit of a
- 26:43Speaker 2: hot condition. You know, that's what caused you to retire
- 26:45Speaker 2: from the league. You know, we have a reputation as
- 26:48Speaker 2: you know, we can be tough on our guests, very
- 26:50Speaker 2: tough on our guests, but within easy today he's get
- 26:54Speaker 2: scared of coming on the show. Some don't show up,
- 26:56Speaker 2: like sometimes they don't even show up. So still we're
- 26:59Speaker 2: going to go easy on you. We don't want to
- 27:01Speaker 2: get you riled up all. We want the heart rate
- 27:03Speaker 2: to stay low, blood.
- 27:05Speaker 5: Pressure down, We need that.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, exactly, Okay, So here's why we brought you
- 27:10Speaker 2: on today. Obviously, you played for the Orlando Magic in
- 27:13Speaker 2: two thousand and four, the year after Doc Rivers got fired.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Of course, you know in the last season that Doc
- 27:20Speaker 2: was there, that team, they finished an embarrassing twenty one
- 27:22Speaker 2: and sixty one but horrible. You came in, and so
- 27:25Speaker 2: did their new coach, Johnny Davis. They improved to a
- 27:28Speaker 2: highly respectable thirty six and forty six, which is good
- 27:31Speaker 2: for the Magic.
- 27:32Speaker 7: You know.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Yeah, when you showed up, tell us Katino, how relieved
- 27:35Speaker 2: in the building were people that you know, Doc was
- 27:38Speaker 2: finally out of there.
- 27:40Speaker 8: I don't know if they were relieved, man, you know
- 27:42Speaker 8: what I'm saying, Like, I, uh, twenty one games the
- 27:46Speaker 8: year prior and then I actually didn't want to leave
- 27:49Speaker 8: Orlando but I got into a little you know, bumping
- 27:52Speaker 8: the heads with Johnny Davis. When I left, we were
- 27:56Speaker 8: topping in Orlando. We were toping the East, one of
- 28:00Speaker 8: the top teams. And when I left, his guys didn't
- 28:02Speaker 8: make the playoffs.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Thought yourself, which is good. I like that, good ego.
- 28:08Speaker 2: What was your beef with Johnny Day?
- 28:10Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 28:10Speaker 1: What happened? Was he worse than Doc Rivers? What was his?
- 28:14Speaker 7: Was he worse than Doc Rivers? This guy? No, Doc
- 28:18Speaker 7: wasn't bad. Listen, Docs never coached me. I think Doc's
- 28:20Speaker 7: a good dude.
- 28:21Speaker 8: But you know, as far as Johnny, you know, he,
- 28:27Speaker 8: Steve Reston and I were at that time, you know,
- 28:30Speaker 8: you know, back court of excitement for the NBA and
- 28:33Speaker 8: you know the team that we had. I you know,
- 28:35Speaker 8: I didn't want to share time with the rookies. And
- 28:38Speaker 8: you know the reason there was success on our team
- 28:42Speaker 8: at the time I was there. You know, Grant Hill
- 28:44Speaker 8: was coming off you know, injury and he's feeling better.
- 28:47Speaker 7: Dwhite Howard was a rookie. You know, he was coming
- 28:51Speaker 7: off the bench. We had a nice little team.
- 28:53Speaker 8: You know, he thought that the scheme and everything was his,
- 28:56Speaker 8: and you know, come to find out, the team broke up.
- 29:00Speaker 8: You know, it's kind of like it just wasn't what
- 29:02Speaker 8: it was when I left.
- 29:04Speaker 2: So what you're saying there is that Johnny Davis is
- 29:06Speaker 2: equally a shitty coach?
- 29:07Speaker 1: Is Doc just as much as Doc? Just follow Yeah,
- 29:11Speaker 1: that's what it sounded like.
- 29:13Speaker 7: Listen. All I'm saying is we didn't go to the
- 29:15Speaker 7: playoffs the year. They didn't go to the playoffs the year.
- 29:18Speaker 1: But you know, you know, just I got a question
- 29:20Speaker 1: for you since you played the game.
- 29:21Speaker 2: You know, Doc Rivers, he's had like a twenty year
- 29:23Speaker 2: case of laryngitis.
- 29:25Speaker 1: You can't understand the word this guy said.
- 29:27Speaker 2: I can't tell me as a player, how important is
- 29:29Speaker 2: it to actually be able to hear and understand your
- 29:32Speaker 2: coach when he's talking.
- 29:36Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Oh, there you go, impersonation impression.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Yeah, listen, I screamed a lot when I was younger.
- 29:47Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 29:48Speaker 8: You know, I think Doc's are I think Doc, you know,
- 29:53Speaker 8: he's a very He's not a stand Ben Gundy. He's
- 29:56Speaker 8: not a Jeff Ben Gundhy, and he's very talented as coach.
- 30:00Speaker 8: But I just think the personality of Doc, he's not pushy.
- 30:04Speaker 8: So in not being pushy. People practice bad habits throughout
- 30:09Speaker 8: seasons and because you're not pushy, and you know, guys
- 30:15Speaker 8: just do what they want to do, and when it
- 30:18Speaker 8: starts to show in the playoffs and that's the that's
- 30:20Speaker 8: the bad thing about situation with that.
- 30:22Speaker 3: One of the rumors that we're hearing with the head
- 30:25Speaker 3: coaching vacancy for the Sixes is former Raptors coach Nick Nurse.
- 30:29Speaker 1: But don't you.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Think that would be a downgrade going from doc to
- 30:33Speaker 3: a nurse?
- 30:35Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 30:36Speaker 7: I mean they both won a championship. Doctor don't have
- 30:38Speaker 7: more championships than that.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Yeah, But you know, as a man who suffers from
- 30:41Speaker 2: a hot condition, I just want to know, you.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Know, who would rather to see.
- 30:44Speaker 2: You know, if they say the doctors out, here's a nurse,
- 30:47Speaker 2: wouldn't that bother you?
- 30:48Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 30:49Speaker 7: Because nurses do more work.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Respect for nurses, yeah yeah, but you know you do
- 30:56Speaker 2: more work. This is a man who you have the
- 30:59Speaker 2: experience here. Yeah, you don't spit ole record, Yeah, you don't.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Just back to the Sixers. Yeah, you know, people are
- 31:05Speaker 2: saying the Sixers season was a failure, but when you
- 31:07Speaker 2: look at it, Joel Embiid won a title.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Yeah, he won the titling title. A scoring title, it
- 31:13Speaker 1: is harder to win.
- 31:14Speaker 2: You got to beat the six hundred people in the league,
- 31:16Speaker 2: even people on your own team.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Wouldn't you agree?
- 31:19Speaker 2: Scoring title more impressive than the NBA title?
- 31:23Speaker 7: Get out of here? Are you serious? Are you guys
- 31:25Speaker 7: on dope for dog food? Yes?
- 31:28Speaker 2: You mind?
- 31:29Speaker 1: Excuse scoring title? Yeah?
- 31:32Speaker 5: Scoring title on?
- 31:33Speaker 1: Yeah? Don't want you to get two upset?
- 31:35Speaker 3: Yeah, we could tell your blood pressure is like one
- 31:37Speaker 3: thirty six over eighty two.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Hold, bring it back?
- 31:40Speaker 7: Which one is dopeer dog food? Which one is it?
- 31:43Speaker 7: I'm trying to.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Find you kidding me? He had to beat out five
- 31:47Speaker 2: hundred players in the league. He doubled your score. Yeah,
- 31:50Speaker 2: Jorge Joe LMB. What was your career high in the
- 31:52Speaker 2: season sixteen? He had thirty two?
- 31:55Speaker 7: Yeah, No, my career high the season is twenty two.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Was that heart beats? Heart beats? Twenty two heart beats
- 32:02Speaker 1: per season? Yeah, that's what we're talking here.
- 32:08Speaker 8: Okay, listen, I'm gonna tell you this, what how did
- 32:11Speaker 8: that work out?
- 32:12Speaker 7: But you being the scoring leader doesn't matter.
- 32:16Speaker 1: We got a title already.
- 32:18Speaker 2: What do you mean it doesn't matter, doesn't matter matter
- 32:20Speaker 2: you brought it up. This is a source subject for
- 32:23Speaker 2: you and can tell why because you never played for
- 32:26Speaker 2: the Sixers, right exactly?
- 32:27Speaker 1: You wish you wish you played for the six I.
- 32:30Speaker 7: Do not know.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I do not Yeah, you don't. He's getting a little agitated.
- 32:35Speaker 1: We probably don't want to take it down enough. Okay, Okay,
- 32:38Speaker 1: we're gonna do.
- 32:39Speaker 2: We're gonna move to a better topic, a more a
- 32:42Speaker 2: more positive note for you. We want to talk about
- 32:45Speaker 2: how you almost got traded to the Knicks, right, and
- 32:48Speaker 2: then this was in the late two thousands, and then
- 32:50Speaker 2: they brought you in for a medical evaluation and they
- 32:53Speaker 2: found you had this heart condition. How glad at that
- 32:56Speaker 2: point were you for that heart condition? Do you go
- 32:58Speaker 2: back and think of the years of your life you
- 33:01Speaker 2: would have lost had you had to play.
- 33:03Speaker 1: For such a terrible organization.
- 33:06Speaker 7: At the time. Dan h d'An TONI was the coach.
- 33:09Speaker 8: I wouldn't mind playing with D'Antoni, but I wasn't really
- 33:12Speaker 8: a fan of uh the guy Dolan, the owner.
- 33:16Speaker 7: I wasn't a fan of him.
- 33:17Speaker 8: So I think, uh, you know, I for me, truthfully,
- 33:22Speaker 8: I gotta be I should have been careful of how
- 33:24Speaker 8: I wish.
- 33:25Speaker 7: That one truth?
- 33:27Speaker 1: What should you have done.
- 33:28Speaker 8: I love New York. I love New York. I spent
- 33:31Speaker 8: my summers in New York. I love D'Antoni, but I
- 33:33Speaker 8: did not like the owner.
- 33:34Speaker 1: He's a terrible, terrible right, all right, I see we're good.
- 33:39Speaker 1: I think we're a little calmer.
- 33:40Speaker 2: Now, this is okay, all right, I'm not afraid I
- 33:43Speaker 2: was gonna call EMT there for a second. Okay, we
- 33:46Speaker 2: were close. But now you know, we saw you on
- 33:48Speaker 2: this other show, Katino. You were talking about how Jah
- 33:50Speaker 2: morant Is is not being a good role model for
- 33:53Speaker 2: flashing a gun. But hold on here, I think you're
- 33:55Speaker 2: missing the point. Yeah, he lives in Memphis. The team
- 33:59Speaker 2: is called the Grizzlies. If there are grizzly beards running
- 34:03Speaker 2: around there, well, wouldn't it be smart to carry a gun?
- 34:07Speaker 1: The Grizzlies are everywhere.
- 34:10Speaker 8: No, it's not smart to listen licensed in a hoster
- 34:15Speaker 8: in the box.
- 34:17Speaker 7: All good.
- 34:17Speaker 8: I'm not saying you know you shouldn't carry your gun.
- 34:20Speaker 8: But at the end of the day, did you're you know,
- 34:23Speaker 8: your big influence in your role model?
- 34:28Speaker 2: What about about what about John Wayne?
- 34:32Speaker 1: You know, is he not a role model to you?
- 34:34Speaker 1: Or Charles Bronson.
- 34:36Speaker 8: Charles Bronson, John Wayne that wish, Yeah exactly.
- 34:41Speaker 7: You wanted to be him?
- 34:42Speaker 1: You want to watch death Wish twelve. I said, oh
- 34:44Speaker 1: my god, what a guy here. He doesn't take nothing.
- 34:48Speaker 1: So I want to be after world's number one sports catch.
- 34:52Speaker 7: And look at you and look at you now and amazing.
- 34:54Speaker 7: I love it.
- 34:55Speaker 1: I'm sensing a little look at you.
- 34:59Speaker 7: Now, You're not You're not fighting to fly right now?
- 35:02Speaker 3: Are you kidding me?
- 35:04Speaker 7: Fly?
- 35:05Speaker 1: Are you kidding me? We take on the whole sports
- 35:07Speaker 1: world over here? You are? You? Are you get in
- 35:11Speaker 1: the next.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Time I see you, I'm gonna be right in my
- 35:14Speaker 2: fist right where the sun don't shine, because guess what,
- 35:17Speaker 2: I guess what you're getting katinoed from the show.
- 35:22Speaker 1: You're right of here. You're done, You're off the show.
- 35:28Speaker 2: By see you put your We're hanging up the mobile
- 35:32Speaker 2: phone and you get eaten by a grizzly bear.
- 35:36Speaker 7: Don't put your bag in the back of something.
- 35:39Speaker 1: Get out of here? Is he off the line? Jay?
- 35:44Speaker 1: Hang up the phone.
- 35:45Speaker 2: I wish he was more like I guess last week
- 35:48Speaker 2: and you know, just didn't show up at all. Yeah exactly,
- 35:51Speaker 2: that would have been way better. Well that was a
- 35:55Speaker 2: terrible interview, but horrible. At least he survived. I guess
- 35:58Speaker 2: that's good.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. You know, we didn't kill them, so
- 36:01Speaker 1: that's good. That's good. That's good by us, you know,
- 36:03Speaker 1: because we're professionals. That's what we're exactly.
- 36:05Speaker 2: All right, And on that note, we're going to take
- 36:07Speaker 2: a quick break. We'll be right back after this. All right,
- 36:11Speaker 2: we're back there, wrap up our worst of NBA guests. Okay,
- 36:14Speaker 2: we're still in twenty twenty three. We're going back now
- 36:17Speaker 2: to April twenty twenty three. Okay, we had on NBA
- 36:21Speaker 2: legend Kenyan Martin to discuss if the NBA was getting
- 36:24Speaker 2: soft because they, you know, they toss out players for fighting.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. I mean we already know the answer to that.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Of course, the NBA is terrible.
- 36:32Speaker 2: But by the way, when you're listen to this, okay,
- 36:34Speaker 2: there's a whole section here where we discuss how much
- 36:36Speaker 2: the Houston Rockets suck. Okay, now, remember, yes, they still
- 36:40Speaker 2: kind of suck, but they actually sucked way much more
- 36:43Speaker 2: and more back.
- 36:44Speaker 1: So if some of this content.
- 36:45Speaker 2: You know, it feels kind of dated to you, well
- 36:47Speaker 2: that's because your brain is slow in the processing right, Yny.
- 36:51Speaker 1: And exactly you're the problem and not the innovation.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Exactly, you're the problem. All right, So here we are.
- 36:56Speaker 2: It's April twenty twenty three. In this clip, Kenyan Martin
- 37:00Speaker 2: rolling fus.
- 37:01Speaker 5: Goal satellite woke.
- 37:04Speaker 2: All right, This man number one overall pick of course
- 37:08Speaker 2: in two thousand played for the Nuggets, the Knicks, the Nets,
- 37:13Speaker 2: where he went to two NBA finals. But of course,
- 37:16Speaker 2: his biggest accomplishment we all know is his reputation for
- 37:19Speaker 2: being one of the toughest and fiercest players in NBA history.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Listen to this one hundred and five career technical foulsands wow.
- 37:27Speaker 2: And more importantly and impressively, one of just three NBA
- 37:30Speaker 2: players since nineteen ninety nine the rack up six or
- 37:33Speaker 2: more flagrant thousand one season. Just terrific. There, So let's
- 37:36Speaker 2: bring him on the show. Kenyan Martin, the true legend.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Welcome, Welcome.
- 37:42Speaker 9: Those are stands I did not know, so appreciate you
- 37:44Speaker 9: sharing it.
- 37:45Speaker 2: That's all we do. We do on this the type
- 37:47Speaker 2: of thing we do. You know, Kenyan, we don't need
- 37:51Speaker 2: to tell you this. These NBA playoffs they're a joke,
- 37:54Speaker 2: you know, the refs throwing out players left and right
- 37:56Speaker 2: for bareley doing anything. You know, they're trying to make
- 37:59Speaker 2: the game about, you know, shooting and dribbling and rebounding.
- 38:02Speaker 2: That's not what's about, you know, it's about trimbling on
- 38:06Speaker 2: the players in the name of competition, you know, intimidating them,
- 38:10Speaker 2: threatening to permanently injured them, you know, which we were
- 38:12Speaker 2: so good at. You know, don't you think that we've
- 38:15Speaker 2: lost the soul of the game.
- 38:18Speaker 9: Yeah, I would agree we've lost the soul of the game.
- 38:21Speaker 9: Yeah I would. I would definitely agree with you in
- 38:24Speaker 9: that aspect. But but but permanently injured in someone probably
- 38:28Speaker 9: I wouldn't take it that far.
- 38:31Speaker 2: Well, you know, maybe a few nights in the hospital, right, yeah,
- 38:34Speaker 2: maybe not perm.
- 38:36Speaker 5: You gotta walk the line. You gotta walk the line.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Okay.
- 38:38Speaker 2: You know, Daron like knockout Karl alone once, didn't you
- 38:41Speaker 2: see it, didn't you put the elbow to the head.
- 38:44Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 38:44Speaker 9: Yeah, But no knights in the hospital though, what I'm
- 38:46Speaker 9: saying he went home to his wife and kids.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Well, that's disappointing that but you tried, You tried, you
- 38:52Speaker 2: know what, exactly, when you look at the way basketball
- 38:54Speaker 2: is right now, that it's so soft, does that make
- 38:57Speaker 2: you want to cry because they're kind of crapping on
- 38:59Speaker 2: the legacy of violence that you and so many of
- 39:02Speaker 2: your your friends and yeah, you helped create there.
- 39:05Speaker 9: Yeah, it had to this change because I think it
- 39:11Speaker 9: would be it would be out of.
- 39:12Speaker 5: Control right now.
- 39:13Speaker 9: It was necessary. It was a necessary change, man, it was.
- 39:17Speaker 9: It was one of those things where if they didn't,
- 39:21Speaker 9: people were gonna stop tuning in and it was effecting
- 39:24Speaker 9: their bottom line. So changes, changes must be made.
- 39:29Speaker 2: It wasn't a moment where you thought, all right, maybe
- 39:32Speaker 2: this has gone a little too far, maybe I might
- 39:34Speaker 2: have just broken a few laws.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Was there a moment like that for you?
- 39:38Speaker 2: Uh?
- 39:39Speaker 9: Now, mine was a conversation. Oh, mine was a conversation
- 39:42Speaker 9: with the late great David Stern. I'm saying mine was
- 39:46Speaker 9: a conversation, not a moment.
- 39:49Speaker 1: What happened in that conversation?
- 39:50Speaker 2: You know, did David Stern like lock you in a
- 39:53Speaker 2: room and punch you, like say hey, you know I'm
- 39:55Speaker 2: not for.
- 39:56Speaker 1: This, knock it out, slap you across the face. What happened?
- 39:59Speaker 5: Would it's absolutely?
- 40:01Speaker 1: Oh wow, he was tough, David Stern. What do you say, Oh.
- 40:04Speaker 9: Yeah, no, no, you to cut it out like his
- 40:07Speaker 9: exa words, do you if you want to be a
- 40:09Speaker 9: part of this league, I suggest you cut it out.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Wow.
- 40:13Speaker 2: You know I used to have respect for Stern. I'm
- 40:15Speaker 2: losing respect for David Stern here, you know.
- 40:18Speaker 9: So therefore I walked the line like I walked the
- 40:22Speaker 9: line without without you know what I'm saying. I didn't
- 40:25Speaker 9: after that point there was no more in game fights
- 40:28Speaker 9: or anything like that.
- 40:29Speaker 5: So I said, yeah, like I understood, I got to
- 40:33Speaker 5: miss it out.
- 40:33Speaker 2: And Okay, you know, you seem I gotta say, you
- 40:37Speaker 2: seem kind of like, uh, what's the word?
- 40:40Speaker 1: Kind of zen?
- 40:41Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 40:41Speaker 2: Very, And I gotta be honest, it's a it's a
- 40:44Speaker 2: it's a little annoying, like you know, you're you're what
- 40:47Speaker 2: happened to the Kenyan Martin?
- 40:49Speaker 1: You know who was you know throwing around?
- 40:51Speaker 5: Yea?
- 40:51Speaker 2: Carl Malone, you know making David.
- 40:55Speaker 9: Yeah, he's done.
- 41:00Speaker 5: Deep deep down there.
- 41:01Speaker 9: Man, I've had I've had eight years to suppress that guy,
- 41:05Speaker 9: you know, have I retired in twenty fifteen, so I've
- 41:08Speaker 9: had eight years to suppress that that guy.
- 41:12Speaker 5: And not because at home.
- 41:14Speaker 9: I'm not hanging off the chandelier or I'm not threatening
- 41:16Speaker 9: the dog. And you know I'm cool, man, I'm not.
- 41:19Speaker 9: But like I said, I react the situation. You look
- 41:22Speaker 9: at it the only situation, Well.
- 41:24Speaker 7: Let me let me live.
- 41:26Speaker 9: The karmelone situation I initiate. But it was a retaliation
- 41:31Speaker 9: for some shit. Had nothing to do with me.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Right, you were getting them back for the knock and
- 41:36Speaker 2: Isaiah Thomas to the first It had.
- 41:39Speaker 5: Nothing to do with Kenyan Martin whatsoever.
- 41:41Speaker 2: But everything else is Thomas, thank you for that, you know,
- 41:45Speaker 2: for Bloody and Karl alone, and send you a gift
- 41:47Speaker 2: basket of something.
- 41:49Speaker 9: Public actually did recently publicly on on the same podcast
- 41:54Speaker 9: that I told his story on. So yeah, no, but no,
- 42:00Speaker 9: I just wann't them situations, man, I was. I was
- 42:03Speaker 9: wired different when I played, and to the effect of
- 42:11Speaker 9: my respect went a lot longer and further than me
- 42:16Speaker 9: getting kicked out of the game or me fighting in
- 42:18Speaker 9: the situation. You know what I'm saying, I was all
- 42:22Speaker 9: I'm all about respect.
- 42:24Speaker 2: I think you're missing the whole point there. I think
- 42:26Speaker 2: Isaiah Thomas was trying to tell you something. He was saying,
- 42:29Speaker 2: thank you for not respecting other people? How zen are you? Like,
- 42:35Speaker 2: let me ask you something. Let's give you hypothetical. You know,
- 42:38Speaker 2: now goes to McDonald's. They forget to put his fries
- 42:40Speaker 2: in the back. Do you like you okay? Or do
- 42:43Speaker 2: you through the drive through?
- 42:45Speaker 9: Might climb through the window, might climb through the window
- 42:49Speaker 9: because they because they from my son, and my son
- 42:52Speaker 9: didn't get his fries.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Ye But I'm for family, yea, but.
- 42:59Speaker 5: Not really deal it with my food.
- 43:01Speaker 9: So actually I'm going to be polite.
- 43:04Speaker 1: All right.
- 43:05Speaker 9: They've been with my food, so now we're not gonna
- 43:09Speaker 9: I don't want the fry, I don't want the basket
- 43:11Speaker 9: of fries just fell on the floor and you scooped
- 43:13Speaker 9: to the side like we don't want those.
- 43:16Speaker 5: So good point.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Good point. It did bring up your son. Let's talk
- 43:22Speaker 1: about your son quickly.
- 43:23Speaker 2: I don't want to sally the mood here, but obviously
- 43:25Speaker 2: it's a it's a tough subject for you and your family.
- 43:28Speaker 2: You know, I'm very sorry, we're all sorry about what's
- 43:31Speaker 2: happened with your son, Kenyan Martin Jr. You know, a
- 43:33Speaker 2: couple of years ago, very sadly of all the teams
- 43:36Speaker 2: got drafted to the Kings terrible enough, heart breaking. Even
- 43:40Speaker 2: more sadly, he gets traded to the Houston Rockets, you know,
- 43:43Speaker 2: the most pathetic organization.
- 43:45Speaker 1: And all of basketball.
- 43:46Speaker 2: How are you helping your son through this tragic and
- 43:49Speaker 2: hopeless time for him?
- 43:50Speaker 9: Hey, listen, man, it was a it was a blessing,
- 43:54Speaker 9: and it was a blessing in disguise get drafted by
- 44:00Speaker 9: the Kings and day and going to Houston. No, man,
- 44:03Speaker 9: but just it's an unfortunate situation. But it's it's like
- 44:06Speaker 9: I said, it's a blessing for him to be living
- 44:08Speaker 9: out a dream and making a name for himself.
- 44:10Speaker 2: Man, And just a second, but you want to say
- 44:15Speaker 2: a bunch of.
- 44:16Speaker 5: Always like that? You know, ken.
- 44:22Speaker 1: You example the problem with your situation.
- 44:25Speaker 9: Every situation ain't like that, man.
- 44:32Speaker 2: I know this is a sole subject. But you look
- 44:34Speaker 2: at your son's stats. Of course, I'm talking about his
- 44:37Speaker 2: number of flagrant fouls. He only he only has one
- 44:42Speaker 2: flagrant foul and his entire three year Korea, Kenyon.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that's your son.
- 44:47Speaker 2: You know, as a father, do you tell him how
- 44:49Speaker 2: disappointed you are in him?
- 44:51Speaker 1: He's shaming the family. Now, how disappointed are you?
- 44:55Speaker 7: There's one right, It's only one right? Yeah, and that
- 44:59Speaker 7: was some bs.
- 45:01Speaker 9: So listen, hey, he's failing me. Tremendously. Man, Listen, I can't.
- 45:05Speaker 9: I don't know where to be getting to start.
- 45:06Speaker 5: Man, like you go.
- 45:08Speaker 9: He's not holding up the end of that I'm saying
- 45:09Speaker 9: of the last name. So I definitely need to have
- 45:12Speaker 9: a talk with him.
- 45:13Speaker 5: Oh here's what I.
- 45:16Speaker 2: Want to look at the camera, Kenyan Junior, right now,
- 45:21Speaker 2: say Kenyan, I'm so disappointed in how weak you are.
- 45:26Speaker 2: I want you to step up and start bashing guys
- 45:29Speaker 2: in the head and play the game as.
- 45:31Speaker 1: It's meant to be played. Make me some permanent injuries.
- 45:35Speaker 9: Yeah, see, I thought I thought we gotta pass the
- 45:37Speaker 9: permanent injury part of this coming.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Oh you want to be permanently injured? Yea, guess what?
- 45:45Speaker 2: Come back to a little angry and next time because
- 45:47Speaker 2: you yes, you're permanently off.
- 45:50Speaker 1: The show business Business show. Bring back the old Kenyan
- 45:59Speaker 1: Martin and come back. He's welcome.
- 46:02Speaker 2: You need a little less anger management this show.
- 46:07Speaker 1: How dare you? How dare you? How dare you?
- 46:11Speaker 2: Don't you're on the time machine and come back when
- 46:13Speaker 2: you're twenty Yeah, who wants to do some Bye?
- 46:21Speaker 1: Is he off the line? Jay?
- 46:23Speaker 2: Hang up the phone, Tony, I'm not one hundred percent
- 46:27Speaker 2: sure that was actually Kenyan Martin did not seem.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Like I'm not sure either. I don't know what who
- 46:31Speaker 1: that was.
- 46:34Speaker 2: You know, that just summarized the problem with guests on
- 46:37Speaker 2: this show. We try to give advice and they don't listen.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Tonty exactly.
- 46:40Speaker 3: You know, just like we give advice to everybody out there,
- 46:43Speaker 3: rate review the show, share.
- 46:45Speaker 1: It with all your friends.
- 46:46Speaker 2: So you as the guest, and go do what we said.
- 46:50Speaker 2: So do what we tell you to do. You know, Tony,
- 46:53Speaker 2: I just realized, you know, those were terrible guests, But
- 46:55Speaker 2: you know what was great about the show?
- 46:57Speaker 1: No producer correction. I mean, what do you what are you.
- 46:59Speaker 2: Going to correct? Silent exily, nothing, nothing. She just use
