- 1:16Dayna Roselli: It's down the sewer with Russian vodka in Las Vegas.
- 1:20Dayna Roselli: Plus, touching shows of support for Ukraine all over the Vegas Valley.
- 1:24Sean McAllister: Then in sports news is the NBA the next major league to take up residency here.
- 1:29Sean McAllister: One insider says yes and says big names are attached.
- 1:34Dayna Roselli: Plus, from the Jonas Brothers to the WWE and a one-of-a-kind Cirque style show for one weekend only.
- 1:42Dayna Roselli: Let's get right to it, Sean.
- 1:44Sean McAllister: Spin that wheel.
- 1:58Dayna Roselli: Dana Roselli and Sean McAllister coming at ya in our new digs.
- 2:04Dayna Roselli: We have a new home office and a new studio.
- 2:06Sean McAllister: We do.
- 2:07Sean McAllister: The studio isn't isn't fully finished yet.
- 2:10Sean McAllister: So if if you do hear a little echo in the background, that's why.
- 2:14Sean McAllister: We just moved in, the walls are empty.
- 2:17Sean McAllister: That'll change soon.
- 2:18Dayna Roselli: It will change soon.
- 2:19Dayna Roselli: The decorations are coming.
- 2:22Sean McAllister: There's boxes and boxes of things to go up, just steps away.
- 2:26Sean McAllister: Right.
- 2:27Sean McAllister: Just haven't gotten there yet.
- 2:28Sean McAllister: It's a big process.
- 2:30Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and it's a busy time right now in Las Vegas and obviously all around the world.
- 2:34Dayna Roselli: Everyone talking about uh what's going on with Russia and Ukraine.
- 2:37Dayna Roselli: And here in Las Vegas, um, just wanted to talk a little bit about what Las Vegas has been doing, how Las Vegas is reacting to this.
- 2:46Dayna Roselli: And we've had a lot of different things going on in different ways, Sean.
- 2:50Sean McAllister: We have.
- 2:51Sean McAllister: And obviously, Vegas being the town that it is, uh, as you can imagine, there is a lot of vodka that's consumed here on a daily basis.
- 3:03Sean McAllister: But now there are a lot of places that are moving away from Russian vodka.
- 3:08Sean McAllister: They're not buying it anymore, they're not serving it anymore, and in some cases, they're just ditching it right down the drain.
- 3:16Dayna Roselli: A place in downtown Las Vegas called Evil Pie has been pouring out all existing stocks of Russian-made vodka, replacing them with Ukrainian-made vodka, and then they're taking in donations and selling like the shots of vodka for a certain amount, and it's all going into a good place.
- 3:36Dayna Roselli: Like 100% of the efforts uh fund of fundraising are going to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the World Central Kitchen.
- 3:45Dayna Roselli: So kind of a neat thing they're doing.
- 3:46Dayna Roselli: They have a whole list of different things you can do to donate, but I won't get all into that.
- 3:50Dayna Roselli: But just know that they're they're kind of making this statement.
- 3:53Sean McAllister: And of course, uh, World Central Kitchen is headed up by uh Chef Jose Andres, who has a restaurant here in Las Vegas as well.
- 4:01Sean McAllister: So he's a familiar face and doing so much on the ground over there uh to feed hot meals to a lot of the refugees from Ukraine who are uh fleeing the region and the turmoil that's going on there uh in their hometowns and cities.
- 4:18Sean McAllister: Um, but a lot of places just like evil pie are also halting the sale of Russian vodka.
- 4:24Sean McAllister: One steakhouse uh over at Virgin Resort has uh stopped selling Russian vodka.
- 4:31Sean McAllister: And we've also seen the Welcome to Las Vegas sign uh light up in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, uh yellow and blue.
- 4:39Sean McAllister: They changed out the light bulbs on the Welcome to Las Vegas sign in a show of solidarity for that country.
- 4:46Sean McAllister: Um, so some really touching shows of you know oneness and that we are supporting from a distance everything that's happening over there.
- 4:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and we're recording this midweek, but uh as this podcast comes out, a rally of support will be happening.
- 5:05Dayna Roselli: And Oksana Bayul, she's been interviewed on our podcast before.
- 5:08Dayna Roselli: Uh, she lives here in Las Vegas, and we're talking about Oksana Bayul, the figure skater.
- 5:14Dayna Roselli: You may remember she won the 1994 Olympic champion, and she is the 1993 world champion.
- 5:22Dayna Roselli: Um, we had her on the podcast, she was showing off her gold medal, she got it out for us.
- 5:26Dayna Roselli: Oh, we she's become a friend.
- 5:27Dayna Roselli: Last night she sent a flyer and said, Hey, can you guys spread the word about this?
- 5:32Dayna Roselli: You know, she is from Ukraine, so this whole situation obviously is hitting her really hard.
- 5:39Dayna Roselli: She wants to do something.
- 5:40Dayna Roselli: And she asked if we would spread the word and everyone's talking about it here in Las Vegas.
- 5:44Dayna Roselli: I'm hoping she gets a really good turnout and that a lot of people will join her.
- 5:48Dayna Roselli: I have a feeling they will.
- 5:51Dayna Roselli: But it's Aksana Bayul and Friends.
- 5:53Dayna Roselli: It's just a peace rally, and it's in support of Ukraine.
- 5:56Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be right outside the Las Vegas City Hall on Saturday, March 5th.
- 6:01Dayna Roselli: So uh, as I said, probably over with when you're listening to the podcast or just happening that day, but encouraging everyone to wear yellow and blue.
- 6:08Sean McAllister: Yeah, and uh Oksana's been posting on her uh Instagram some videos and pictures that friends in Ukraine are uh sending to her, and it is, you know, it's awful to see what is going on over there with a Russian invasion, and our hearts and thoughts are certainly with the people of Ukraine, and hopefully the situation can be resolved and people get back to life as they know it soon.
- 6:39Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean I think you know there's there's stuff people have really been ex I guess respecting what's going on in the world today too.
- 6:45Dayna Roselli: I know like a lot of times people will ask us, um, can you can you post this or can you do this or can you talk about this or certain projects we do?
- 6:54Dayna Roselli: And I notice like here and there people have been saying, you know what, we're just gonna hold off because there's like more important things going on in the world right now.
- 7:00Dayna Roselli: And I love that people are really like showing respect for that.
- 7:03Dayna Roselli: So yeah, and finding ways to, if they need to get a message across about something, they're saying, hey, we're aware that this is going on, but we also want you to know about this.
- 7:12Dayna Roselli: So hopefully things come to an end, you know, and things become more peaceful the sooner the better.
- 7:18Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and as things can be posted.
- 7:20Sean McAllister: Yeah, as things do happen here in Las Vegas, uh, we'll keep you updated on all of those developments.
- 7:27Sean McAllister: Uh, taking a hard left turn, Dana, it's pool season in Las Vegas.
- 7:33Dayna Roselli: It is a chilly week ahead coming up, but we just had like a really warm spurt, and we've been talking about this before.
- 7:39Dayna Roselli: The weather is just up and down during this time of year, but regardless, the pools are open at a lot of different resort casinos.
- 7:47Dayna Roselli: Some are waiting until about March 18th, but a lot have opened March 4th.
- 7:51Dayna Roselli: So as you're listening to this again, it would be yesterday if you're listening to this on that Saturday, March 5th.
- 7:57Dayna Roselli: But yeah, I mean, it full steam ahead, you know, we got to get going.
- 8:01Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's a lot of the day clubs are opening up and starting their full pool season right now.
- 8:08Sean McAllister: They have their full lineup of DJs and performers who are uh, you know, set to keep the party going during the day and then move into the nightclubs at night.
- 8:18Sean McAllister: So that time of year has arrived.
- 8:21Sean McAllister: I know it was not too long ago when it seemed like it was, you know, middle of winter, and really parts of the country are are still in freezing temperatures and covered in snow and having storms blowing through.
- 8:35Sean McAllister: And so to to be talking about the fact that people are gonna be out here at the pools, you know, is is kind of crazy for people listening in other parts of the country, but one of the perks of living in Vegas.
- 8:46Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so true.
- 8:47Dayna Roselli: And we have some of the best pools too.
- 8:49Sean McAllister: By the way, I think the pool over at the Venetian, I think the entire pool deck was just renovated.
- 8:54Sean McAllister: It was, and so it looks really pretty.
- 8:57Sean McAllister: Uh, so if you're looking for a place to check out, go uh go hang out there.
- 9:02Sean McAllister: By the way, a little insider tip.
- 9:05Sean McAllister: I know that we're not in our tips section of the show yet, but over at Topgolf, they have a pool at the Top Golf location, and that's open to the public.
- 9:16Sean McAllister: Free and open to the public.
- 9:17Sean McAllister: So it is.
- 9:17Dayna Roselli: It's so cool.
- 9:18Dayna Roselli: And I know that you just did a segment on the show Vegas On.
- 9:21Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 9:22Dayna Roselli: At Topgolf.
- 9:23Dayna Roselli: Yep.
- 9:23Dayna Roselli: You can see Vegas On, by the way, everyone, at visitlasvegas.com.
- 9:27Dayna Roselli: Sean does a piece in episode three on Top Golf where you show off the pool, and the woman that you were interviewing says, This is the only Top Golf that has a pool.
- 9:35Sean McAllister: It is.
- 9:36Sean McAllister: I mean, because the Vegas location is the flagship location of all topgolfs anywhere.
- 9:42Sean McAllister: And they're even opening, well, I don't know if it's announced, but they're international.
- 9:46Sean McAllister: Um, and so yeah, Vegas is the only one that has a pool, and it's free and open to the public.
- 9:52Sean McAllister: You just have to get there early to get a space.
- 9:55Sean McAllister: And Dana, in this uh episode three of Vegas on, you are also uh checking out some breweries.
- 10:02Dayna Roselli: Yeah, some breweries, because we're talking about springtime dining, how it's a perfect time to dine on the patio.
- 10:06Dayna Roselli: Because I will admit, as the heart of summer comes your way, um, it does get really hot to do patio dining during the day.
- 10:15Dayna Roselli: At night, it's fine.
- 10:16Dayna Roselli: But anyway, now is the perfect time of year to do that patio dining in and out.
- 10:21Dayna Roselli: So we wanted to point out that brewery row has a lot of places that are great indoors, but also some great patios, or they just leave this like door that they lift up just open and nice breeze coming through.
- 10:31Dayna Roselli: So, anyway, brewery row is a great new spot in downtown.
- 10:35Dayna Roselli: And I and I say new because there have been a couple of the locations that have been there, but they keep tacking on, and now they're kind of like one after the other after the other, and it's right along that main street area.
- 10:46Dayna Roselli: So I go to uh Abel Baker and talk with some folks over there.
- 10:51Dayna Roselli: Anyway, you've got to see the segment.
- 10:52Dayna Roselli: Again, go to visitlosvegas.com.
- 10:55Dayna Roselli: Uh great feature on Brewery Row in downtown Las Vegas.
- 10:59Dayna Roselli: So let's talk sports for a minute.
- 11:01Dayna Roselli: Uh, we talk often on our podcast about sports because they become such a large part of our community.
- 11:06Dayna Roselli: And we talked Major League Baseball a few podcasts back and how there's talks of that possibly coming to Las Vegas.
- 11:13Dayna Roselli: And now there are some talk this week specifically about the NBA coming to Las Vegas and a very, very famous player attached to that.
- 11:26Sean McAllister: Yeah, Bill Simmons, he's the founder of Ringer and host of the Bill Simmons podcast, uh, really gave some insight uh this past week, Dana, and uh on his podcast talked about what so it sounds like he has some inside information about it's his way around.
- 11:45Dayna Roselli: It's his way around a way around going, I might know.
- 11:48Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 11:48Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 11:49Sean McAllister: It sounds like there's some insider information that he has intel on what the NBA might be thinking about doing in regard to expanding the league and in doing so making Las Vegas home to a team and having a major sports figure attached.
- 12:10Sean McAllister: Take a listen.
- 12:11SPEAKER_02: I have uh I have some intel I think I think the league is gonna expand to Vegas and to Seattle.
- 12:21SPEAKER_02: And I think the leading contender to get that Vegas team is gonna be the Fenway sports group that you know that they have Liverpool, they've bought the Penguins, they've been circling different NBA teams for a while.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: I think they looked at Minnesota and I think they're the leading contender to Vegas.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: And if I had to bet on a LeBron scenario, it would be for him to be involved with whatever happens with that, where he is the point man of that Vegas team.
- 12:46SPEAKER_02: And I haven't heard that mentioned.
- 12:48SPEAKER_02: I don't care if it gets aggregated because I think I'm right.
- 12:51SPEAKER_02: Um I think that is uh scenario A for LeBron.
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: He wants to be an owner, I think he wants to run one of these teams, and I think conversely, I think the NBA is looking at this going, uh we can add these huge expansion things.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: I heard combined, we're talking 6.57 billion for the two teams.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: So explain that to us because that's a huge part of this, because you're giving up the future rights, the TV rights, you're splitting up 32 inches instead of 30, but you get an immediate check.
- 13:19SPEAKER_01: So most people are gonna vote for this.
- 13:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're talking, let's say it's let's talk, let's say it's three million for Vegas and 3.5 for Seattle.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: So 25 combined billion.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: You're talking 30 teams splitting the 6.5 billion for those two entries.
- 13:36SPEAKER_02: So you're just getting a free check for 200 million plus each, which would kind of cover a lot of the attendance stuff they lost over uh whatever the last two years.
- 13:47SPEAKER_02: Now they could also rig it, and they've done this in the past with the expansion teams, where it's like you don't get to participate in the media rights for two years, three years, whatever.
- 13:54SPEAKER_02: So they could put that wrinkle in as well.
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: Ultimately, they want LeBron to be the point man of the team that did this with Jordan.
- 14:00SPEAKER_02: We watched them do it, and I think they want to do it with LeBron.
- 14:03Dayna Roselli: Really interesting information, and you know, it would be huge if we got the NBA and you know, LeBron attached to it.
- 14:10Sean McAllister: It would.
- 14:10Sean McAllister: And I think that having a pro hockey team and a pro football team has shown that, and by the way, we do have uh a WNBA team here as well, and those those games are pretty well attended too for the Las Vegas Aces.
- 14:27Sean McAllister: I think we have shown that for uh professional sports teams here in Las Vegas, there is not only local demand to fill the seats, but there are plenty of people who are visiting at the time of a game who will say, Hey, cool, it's a pro sports team having a game in Las Vegas, let's get a ticket and go.
- 14:51Sean McAllister: Or if the visiting team has fans, obviously, if they're gonna travel, Vegas is the place they're going to travel to because there's so much more that Vegas has to offer compared to other cities.
- 15:06Dayna Roselli: If they said we're gonna bring in an NBA team, we're gonna build another arena, I'd be like, all right, it it would be too much, you know.
- 15:12Dayna Roselli: But if they're gonna plan on using existing places that we already have that are amazing, great.
- 15:16Dayna Roselli: Somebody actually, one of our listeners mentioned that they had a feeling that maybe an NBA team would come in and play at the sphere.
- 15:22Dayna Roselli: I thought that was interesting.
- 15:23Sean McAllister: I mean, that would be kind of cool.
- 15:25Dayna Roselli: It'd be different.
- 15:25Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 15:26Dayna Roselli: It would attract people from all around the world, right?
- 15:28Dayna Roselli: Come watch a basketball game in this round sphere with all these LED screens.
- 15:32Dayna Roselli: It could be cool.
- 15:34Dayna Roselli: One thing is for sure.
- 15:35Dayna Roselli: Um we have a lot of construction going on all around Las Vegas.
- 15:41Dayna Roselli: And I think about adding like two more professional teams, and I I kind of slightly a little bit agree with the people who are like, it might just be too much too soon, right now.
- 15:52Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, I don't, it is a lot.
- 15:55Sean McAllister: It is.
- 15:55Sean McAllister: I don't know.
- 15:56Sean McAllister: And I mean, there's a a joke for people, a running joke for people who live here in Las Vegas.
- 16:02Sean McAllister: We say that the orange road cone is the state flower because they pop up everywhere at a moment's notice.
- 16:08Sean McAllister: True.
- 16:09Sean McAllister: Even uh Dana, last night uh I came home from an event.
- 16:13Sean McAllister: I dropped you off from an event and came home.
- 16:16Sean McAllister: It was a clear shot.
- 16:18Sean McAllister: Today, when you were on your way over here, you were like, Oh my gosh, it was down to one lane.
- 16:23Sean McAllister: There were there's construction everywhere.
- 16:25Sean McAllister: And literally overnight.
- 16:26Sean McAllister: Literally overnight, that crap pops up.
- 16:30Dayna Roselli: It does, it does.
- 16:31Dayna Roselli: We have a lot of construction, it pops up out of nowhere, and that's the thing is you're kind of unprepared for it unless you really literally study like the online, here are the construction things happening, and that could happen all day long.
- 16:42Dayna Roselli: And I guess, you know, hey, there's like a reason to watch the local news in the morning, maybe.
- 16:47Sean McAllister: But yeah, true.
- 16:48Sean McAllister: And by the way, I know that we're going off on a tangent to uh road construction.
- 16:53Sean McAllister: We were talking about, you know, getting in potential of Vegas, getting an NBA team.
- 16:57Sean McAllister: But if I could momentarily just go off on another tangent connected to uh loosely connected to construction, not even, but driving.
- 17:07Sean McAllister: I hate people who walk slow as a snail across a crosswalk.
- 17:15Sean McAllister: There is there are a few things that bother me more.
- 17:19Sean McAllister: When people are crossing in front of you, your light is green, the only thing that's preventing you from going is a person in front of your vehicle, which of course you're not going to run them over.
- 17:30Sean McAllister: No, but my God, have some urgency people.
- 17:34Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 17:34Dayna Roselli: They just sl like slowly walk like no one's waiting, right?
- 17:38Sean McAllister: Like, my lord.
- 17:40Dayna Roselli: You I must say, in the car with Sean, there are slight bits of every now and then moments that Sean has of road rage.
- 17:50Dayna Roselli: Now, I'm not saying like road rage, like crazy, angry.
- 17:54Sean McAllister: Like, I don't get out of the car with a critter bar and smash windows or trying to run people off the road.
- 17:59Dayna Roselli: Although I feel like you might want to sometimes.
- 18:01Sean McAllister: Well, the blood boils, that's for sure.
- 18:04Dayna Roselli: Yeah, Sean definitely has it out.
- 18:05Dayna Roselli: But yeah, yesterday, you know, we were out and about and someone was walking really slow through the crosswalk.
- 18:10Sean McAllister: I usually just vent with words.
- 18:13Sean McAllister: I I word vomit a lot of nasty, nasty words and get it out that it is true.
- 18:20Dayna Roselli: It's like, come on, you know everyone's waiting on you.
- 18:22Dayna Roselli: Like, just pick up, like, show us that you're trying to go a little faster than normal.
- 18:26Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 18:27Sean McAllister: If you have a physical impairment that prevents you from moving fast, totally get it.
- 18:33Sean McAllister: Oh, of course, yeah.
- 18:34Sean McAllister: But if you are an able-bodied person who is clearly just trying to be slow as a slug, just to spite the traffic that is staring you in the face, like screw off.
- 18:48Dayna Roselli: Pick up the pace to mall walker, you know?
- 18:50Sean McAllister: Like be a mall walker.
- 18:51Sean McAllister: If you're one of those people who deliberately slows down in a crosswalk, I hope a bird poops on you.
- 18:57Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 18:58Sean McAllister: And that you step in hot gum.
- 19:00Dayna Roselli: Hot gum?
- 19:01Dayna Roselli: That's interesting.
- 19:02Dayna Roselli: I've never heard that one before.
- 19:04Sean McAllister: Because that's a pain in the ass to scrape hot gum off the bottom of your shoe.
- 19:07Sean McAllister: Well, although and and get it out of the little crevices of your sneaker.
- 19:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 19:12Dayna Roselli: And when that happens with the bird, though, that's good luck, you know.
- 19:14Sean McAllister: It is.
- 19:15Sean McAllister: It's supposed to be.
- 19:16Sean McAllister: Oh, well, look at me wishing people good luck.
- 19:18Dayna Roselli: Wishing people good luck.
- 19:19Dayna Roselli: All right, I don't even know how we went from the team to that, but anyway, uh, that's what's happening in Sean's world in his head.
- 19:25Dayna Roselli: We're tired.
- 19:26Dayna Roselli: We've had a long day.
- 19:26Dayna Roselli: It's like 4 30, and we're almost done with work.
- 19:29Sean McAllister: Uh, we've got a bunch of shows that have been announced here in Vegas.
- 19:34Dayna Roselli: Let's move on to a really cool festival that is happening.
- 19:36Dayna Roselli: I know people love their festivals, their weekend festivals, especially when they're outside.
- 19:41Dayna Roselli: Uh, and this is something that took place last year.
- 19:43Dayna Roselli: It's called Ignite, okay?
- 19:45Dayna Roselli: It's really unique, and it's gonna be taking place right in the Mojave Desert, April 22nd and 23rd.
- 19:52Dayna Roselli: And what it is is a bunch of different performers from in and around Las Vegas coming together and doing some really unique performances out in the desert.
- 20:04Sean McAllister: It's a cool, you know, variety style show that has Cirque-esque performances, plus, there's a dance party mixed in, plus, there's, you know, food trucks and vendors, and there's, you know, fireside s'mores and lots of cool stuff that's really all put together in into a unique weekend that you will not get again.
- 20:29Sean McAllister: And last year it sold out.
- 20:30Sean McAllister: No doubt this is going to sell out once again.
- 20:34Sean McAllister: Um, Ignite is happening April 22nd and 23rd.
- 20:40Sean McAllister: So, you know, if you're here in Las Vegas, if you plan to be here then, that's a good option for you.
- 20:46Dayna Roselli: Hey, and like switching gears from uh chill vibe under the stars, the WWE Money in the Bank returns to Allegiant Stadium.
- 20:55Sean McAllister: Definitely not chill.
- 20:57Sean McAllister: No, lots of excitement, passion, energy exploding from the ring.
- 21:01Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 21:02Dayna Roselli: July 2nd, that is taking place.
- 21:04Dayna Roselli: It was huge last year and coming back.
- 21:08Sean McAllister: Let me tell you, WWE has a following that it that rivals any professional sports league.
- 21:18SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 21:18Sean McAllister: It I mean it's crazy.
- 21:20Sean McAllister: Crazy to see the number of fans that WWE has and the passion they have.
- 21:27Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 21:28Dayna Roselli: It's huge.
- 21:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean, it's exciting, and and I love that Allegiant Stadium has been one of the places that they choose to stop.
- 21:35Dayna Roselli: I think it's gonna be awesome.
- 21:36Dayna Roselli: Tickets go on sale March 17th.
- 21:39Sean McAllister: Dana, I know that uh you're excited about this.
- 21:43Dayna Roselli: I am.
- 21:43Sean McAllister: The Jonas brothers.
- 21:45Sean McAllister: Right they're coming back to Vegas.
- 21:46Dayna Roselli: And we talked about this.
- 21:48Dayna Roselli: I feel like a year and a half ago, and I was excited.
- 21:51Dayna Roselli: And then they canceled because of the pandemic.
- 21:52Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 21:53Dayna Roselli: And so now they're coming back.
- 21:55Dayna Roselli: Uh they have announced June dates uh for a Las Vegas residency.
- 21:59Dayna Roselli: I think it's called Vegas.
- 22:00Dayna Roselli: What, Jonas Brothers Live in Las Vegas?
- 22:02Dayna Roselli: Something simple like that that really spells it out.
- 22:04Dayna Roselli: Anyway, um, it's exciting.
- 22:05Dayna Roselli: They're coming to the Park MGM Dolby Live, and I think it's gonna be great.
- 22:09Dayna Roselli: The reason I'm excited is because I met them years and years and years ago, and they were like the nicest people I've ever interviewed.
- 22:16Dayna Roselli: Oh yeah, they were so sweet.
- 22:18Sean McAllister: They were much younger, but before they were like international.
- 22:22Dayna Roselli: It was like when remember we talked about was one of my my top ten moments of um when their movie came out.
- 22:27Sean McAllister: When their documentary, yeah.
- 22:28Dayna Roselli: The documentary, yes, and they surprised a movie theater full of girls and guys, and and anyway.
- 22:34Sean McAllister: But I feel like at that point they were famous, but they have blown up to like megastar status as a group and individually since then.
- 22:45Dayna Roselli: Right, totally, totally.
- 22:46Dayna Roselli: And listen, I look at them in a different light now that I'm older and they're older.
- 22:52Dayna Roselli: I have to go, wait, they're much younger than me.
- 22:54Sean McAllister: And maybe Priyanka Chopra is gonna be here.
- 22:58Dayna Roselli: Maybe, and I don't know.
- 23:00Dayna Roselli: I'm sure many of the female fans would prefer she wasn't.
- 23:04Dayna Roselli: Anyway, they always put on a great show when they like perform at the Grammys and all the different kinds of award shows.
- 23:10Dayna Roselli: I love to watch them live.
- 23:11Dayna Roselli: So I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with a Las Vegas residency.
- 23:14Sean McAllister: Yeah, that will be cool.
- 23:15Sean McAllister: Uh, but Dana, a lot of people are asking for a status check on what's happening in Vegas, uh, what's how things are operating.
- 23:25Dayna Roselli: I know, because sometimes you and I are like, well, what do you mean?
- 23:27Dayna Roselli: Like, everything's normal, right?
- 23:28Dayna Roselli: But there are people who have been itching to come to Las Vegas and have not been here in a long time.
- 23:33Dayna Roselli: So they've been waiting.
- 23:35Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 23:35Dayna Roselli: To them, they don't know.
- 23:36Dayna Roselli: Like, what's the vibe like?
- 23:37Dayna Roselli: Is it busy?
- 23:38Dayna Roselli: Is it you know empty?
- 23:40Dayna Roselli: What what's going on?
- 23:41Dayna Roselli: We wanted to just keep you posted on on what it's like.
- 23:43Dayna Roselli: Indoor masks, no more.
- 23:45Dayna Roselli: We've talked about that in the past, too, that has been lifted, but I wanted to point out there's still a lot of people that do wear masks.
- 23:50Dayna Roselli: I see them a lot, and and it's all by choice, which is totally fine.
- 23:54Sean McAllister: Yeah, I took a dog for the for a walk this morning.
- 23:56Sean McAllister: A dog or your dog?
- 23:57Sean McAllister: A dog.
- 23:58Sean McAllister: I took a dog and my dog, the same dog, for a walk this morning.
- 24:04Sean McAllister: And there was a woman who passed me and she put up her mask as we passed, even in an outdoor setting.
- 24:10Sean McAllister: Okay, yeah.
- 24:11Sean McAllister: Good on her.
- 24:12Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 24:12Dayna Roselli: I've been out on the strip here and there and noticed a lot of people, you know, still choosing to wear masks, like in the casino floor and things like that.
- 24:18Sean McAllister: There's still a lot of masks that you'll see.
- 24:20Dayna Roselli: If you're walking around, like in the mall and stuff like that.
- 24:22Dayna Roselli: So you will see masks.
- 24:23Dayna Roselli: You do not have to wear one.
- 24:25Dayna Roselli: Keep that in mind.
- 24:26Sean McAllister: Your choice.
- 24:27Dayna Roselli: Again, medical facilities.
- 24:28Dayna Roselli: If you hit anything uh like that, you will have to wear one.
- 24:32Dayna Roselli: We were over at the Rubo Center recently um and just stopped in there um for a shoot, and we had to put masks on.
- 24:39Dayna Roselli: So, you know, there's rules like that.
- 24:41Dayna Roselli: But other than that, if you're coming for vacation, everything's clear and we are getting busier and busier.
- 24:46Dayna Roselli: January was slow, February was uh a little slow, but then we had the Super Bowl and everything.
- 24:51Dayna Roselli: Now we're heading into March Madness, so it should be busy.
- 24:53Sean McAllister: It should.
- 24:54Sean McAllister: Uh the caveat to all that is some performers are still choosing to do shows for fully vaccinated audiences.
- 25:02Sean McAllister: That's true.
- 25:03Sean McAllister: So you're just gonna need to check ahead and see if you are planning to attend a residency show or a touring show if that specific artist is, you know, having any special requirements.
- 25:17Sean McAllister: And you know, you'll have to follow that, otherwise, you won't get in.
- 25:20Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 25:21Dayna Roselli: Speaking of performances, real quick just coming up.
- 25:23Dayna Roselli: I'm going to Katy Perry this weekend finally.
- 25:25Dayna Roselli: I'll get to see it.
- 25:26Sean McAllister: So I'm so excited to hear what you think.
- 25:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I'm excited to see the show.
- 25:30Dayna Roselli: I everyone keeps talking about it.
- 25:31Dayna Roselli: We put some stuff up on our TikTok, and everyone's saying, Oh, it was so good.
- 25:34Dayna Roselli: So I look forward to seeing that.
- 25:37Dayna Roselli: Also, uh, for Vegas on, I'm planning on interviewing, at least uh checking in with Luke Bryan, who's doing an event over at Top Golf this weekend because he's in town for ACM awards, which is going to be a huge thing over at Allegiant Stadium, hosted by Dolly Parton.
- 25:56Dayna Roselli: Carrie Underwood will be there and all that kind of thing.
- 25:58Dayna Roselli: So, and that's on Monday, and you can see that on Amazon.
- 26:02Dayna Roselli: Let's get to some tips.
- 26:09Sean McAllister: And for our first tip, Dana, let's let's get into a little bit of a Broadway vibe.
- 26:14Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean, well, there's two things we want to talk about here.
- 26:17Dayna Roselli: One is that the Smith Center is having its 10-year anniversary this month, which is exciting.
- 26:23Dayna Roselli: I can't believe Sean is.
- 26:25Sean McAllister: I can't believe it's been a decade.
- 26:27Sean McAllister: That's insane.
- 26:28Dayna Roselli: The one thing that you and I always talk about is that so many people before the Smith Center opened, because we were living here then, uh, said, it all won't work.
- 26:36Dayna Roselli: This is not a performing arts town, people don't want Broadway shows.
- 26:40Dayna Roselli: It's the strip, it's the strip, but it's just been a place that people have loved and enjoyed, and I can't believe it's been 10 years.
- 26:50Dayna Roselli: Uh, we checked in with them and said, Hey, anything special going on?
- 26:53Dayna Roselli: And they mentioned that they're gonna be just packing the month of March with like programming that spans every genre.
- 26:59Dayna Roselli: They're gonna be reflecting on their goal of presenting performers for all audiences, including music, theater, dance, guest speakers, and much more.
- 27:08Dayna Roselli: So make sure uh that you check in with the Smith Center if you want to take part in some of their 10th anniversary events.
- 27:14Sean McAllister: And by the way, they also just came out with the lineup for their 2022-2023 uh Broadway season.
- 27:22Sean McAllister: And good ones.
- 27:24Sean McAllister: Incredible.
- 27:24Sean McAllister: They have shows uh like The Prom, Hades Town, Jagged Little Pill, Six, Hamilton, Annie, uh To Kill a Mockingbird is coming, Moulin Rouge, Frozen, Mean Girls, uh, the Tina Turner musical.
- 27:42Sean McAllister: I mean, this is uh I think one of the best lineups that they've ever had.
- 27:47Sean McAllister: And these are the touring Broadway productions that'll be coming through.
- 27:52Sean McAllister: And if you haven't been to the Smith Center and you have a chance to, it's so worth it.
- 27:58Sean McAllister: It's so classy and so nice.
- 28:00Sean McAllister: It's a beautiful, beautiful venue.
- 28:03Dayna Roselli: And you know, our friend Larry Edwards that dresses up as Tina Turner and drag.
- 28:07Dayna Roselli: I'm sure he's excited that the Tina musical's coming.
- 28:09Sean McAllister: Oh, he'll be there ready to pop the fan.
- 28:12Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he's so great.
- 28:14Dayna Roselli: He just loves anything Tina.
- 28:15Dayna Roselli: So when I saw that on the list, I thought, oh, because I think he actually traveled to New York City to see the show.
- 28:20Dayna Roselli: Um, he's a huge Tina Turner fan, obviously.
- 28:22Dayna Roselli: Um, something that you may want to consider as well if you are looking for a new job.
- 28:28Dayna Roselli: Now, this is maybe you're moving to Vegas, or maybe you're a local looking for a new spot.
- 28:32Dayna Roselli: Circa Resort and Casino hosting a big hiring event for over 150 positions.
- 28:39Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 28:39Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be on March 10th.
- 28:41Dayna Roselli: They are looking for security guards, lifeguards, VIP hosts, and more.
- 28:47Dayna Roselli: The event will run from 9 a.m.
- 28:49Dayna Roselli: to 1 p.m.
- 28:50Dayna Roselli: and it's gonna be at the sister property, Golden Gate Hotel and Casino.
- 28:53Dayna Roselli: So keep that in mind.
- 28:55Dayna Roselli: Uh, it's in the valet area, and apparently they're encouraging everyone to apply online first if you can.
- 29:01Dayna Roselli: Go to Circa's website and they have a career section there that you can check out.
- 29:05Dayna Roselli: But Sean, I mean, they're also looking for like um, you know, people to work at stadium swim, also uh in the transportation area, hotel operations.
- 29:15Dayna Roselli: So they've got like a lot of different positions and varieties.
- 29:19Sean McAllister: Let me tell you, the jobs are out there to be had if you want one.
- 29:24Dayna Roselli: It's true.
- 29:25Dayna Roselli: We just saw someone on Twitter say that they got a job at the Palms and they were so excited.
- 29:29Sean McAllister: Yes, because we just talked about that.
- 29:31Sean McAllister: Yeah, the Palms has been hiring.
- 29:33Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 29:34Dayna Roselli: I'm just so happy that people are getting jobs and that these places are are thriving and opening again.
- 29:39Dayna Roselli: Um, the other day I went to get the mail, Sean, and someone just put up a note that said, uh, out to lunch, be back at 2 30.
- 29:45Dayna Roselli: And we were chatting about it after and I thought, well, like, is that what how things are now?
- 29:51Dayna Roselli: Like, can you take like a 2 p.m.
- 29:53Dayna Roselli: lunch?
- 29:54Dayna Roselli: Well, wait a second.
- 29:55Dayna Roselli: Like, I wouldn't have nowhere like because we're saying staffing levels are low though.
- 29:59Dayna Roselli: Maybe there's one person behind the desk.
- 30:01Dayna Roselli: That's the only thing I can think of.
- 30:02Dayna Roselli: And that if they have to take lunch, they had to like pick a time to like get out the door and had to write on a sheet of paper and marker and post it.
- 30:12Dayna Roselli: But if you're gonna take a lunch, go from like noon to one.
- 30:15Sean McAllister: Well, maybe there was a one something like that.
- 30:17Dayna Roselli: And by the time the line got to the front, maybe it was like 1 30.
- 30:21Dayna Roselli: I'm just saying.
- 30:22Sean McAllister: I mean, I guess.
- 30:24Sean McAllister: I mean But that's such an odd time to reopen a post office.
- 30:28Dayna Roselli: I know, I know.
- 30:29Dayna Roselli: It has nothing to do with the circus job fair, but we just have gone in so many tangents today.
- 30:34Dayna Roselli: I think it's best we just end this podcast.
- 30:36Dayna Roselli: We are definitely by the way, today, Sean.
- 30:39Dayna Roselli: See, I'm gonna go on another one just because everyone likes a little giggle at the end.
- 30:42Dayna Roselli: Today, Sean and I made ham sandwiches on white bread and sat in his backyard and ate lunch like two old senior citizens.
- 30:54SPEAKER_03: Listening to the birds chirp.
- 30:56SPEAKER_03: It was beautiful.
- 30:57Dayna Roselli: Beautiful bottle of water.
- 30:59Dayna Roselli: Oh my god.
- 31:00SPEAKER_03: We should have put up a sign that said back at 1:30.
- 31:06Dayna Roselli: Oh my goodness.
- 31:07Dayna Roselli: All right, I'm calling it a day.
- 31:09Dayna Roselli: I gotta go.
