- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to College Football Addiction, another big one for Texas.
- 0:03Speaker 1: It feels like every game on this schedule ends up
- 0:05Speaker 1: being a big one for Texas, but this game I
- 0:08Speaker 1: thought was going to be a little bigger than it is.
- 0:10Speaker 1: It is presented by PrizePix. Again, all new users there
- 0:13Speaker 1: play $ 5, get $ 150 in lineups instantly. They use code HMA.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Jerry Hamilton on Texas football. both teams coming off of
- 0:22Speaker 1: a loss, which maybe isn't the most shocking thing, but
- 0:24Speaker 1: both teams coming off of a loss as favorites. So
- 0:27Speaker 1: I am very intrigued to see how both teams respond
- 0:30Speaker 1: because even with a red river can always get crazy.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Florida obviously looks a little different right now, but I
- 0:36Speaker 1: don't think anybody would have taken a South Carolina, Oklahoma
- 0:38Speaker 1: money line going into last week. So a little surprising
- 0:41Speaker 1: to be in this spot where two and a half
- 0:43Speaker 1: weeks ago that we thought this could be a top
- 0:44Speaker 1: five matchup.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Um, look, we'll start with Texas, Oklahoma, uh, And I
- 0:51Speaker 3: always want to give credit to a team because Oklahoma
- 0:54Speaker 3: physically won the third quarter.
- 0:56Speaker 2: They made some plays.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Obviously, Texas does– there's a lot of that, you know,
- 1:03Speaker 3: Texas fan base, how did we lose that game? And
- 1:06Speaker 3: there's some truth in that, right? You give up a
- 1:09Speaker 3: special teams touchdown and a pick six. I mean, your
- 1:12Speaker 3: odds of losing a game go way, way up, right?
- 1:15Speaker 3: Oklahoma had 238 yards of offense, and that game was
- 1:18Speaker 3: 2 of 13 on third downs. I've been throwing out
- 1:22Speaker 3: on Texas Football YouTube channel all week and on our
- 1:24Speaker 3: website that you had a 93.8% chance to win that
- 1:28Speaker 3: game in the last 25 years of Division I football
- 1:31Speaker 3: if you hold a team under 250 yards and give up.
- 1:33Speaker 2: 2 of 13 on third down. Those aren't games you're
- 1:36Speaker 2: supposed to lose, right?
- 1:38Speaker 3: But they did, and I think there were some things with,
- 1:43Speaker 3: with Arch that kind of came home the roost. Some
- 1:46Speaker 3: things that he had shown earlier in the season that
- 1:49Speaker 3: kind of came home the roost. And special teams have
- 1:52Speaker 3: been porous the last two games, Tennessee and Oklahoma. And
- 1:57Speaker 3: then Arch, you know, Arch has those flashes of tremendous
- 2:02Speaker 3: football play, right? But the inconsistencies and some of the
- 2:06Speaker 3: head scratchers kind of came home the roost in that game.
- 2:10Speaker 3: With Florida, I mean, I'm at the point of if
- 2:14Speaker 3: Texas can't throw the ball.
- 2:15Speaker 2: This week, when are they?
- 2:16Speaker 1: Yeah, never.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Effectively.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Not say throw the ball because Arch threw for 260
- 2:22Speaker 3: and had the two picks. But throw the ball, maybe
- 2:25Speaker 3: set a season high in passing yards because everybody else
- 2:28Speaker 3: seems to against Florida. But you've got to hold up
- 2:32Speaker 3: in the front on pass protection. You've got to win
- 2:35Speaker 3: against four if you're Texas, and then you've got to
- 2:38Speaker 3: force Florida to bring six.
- 2:40Speaker 2: If you force Florida to bring six– then.
- 2:44Speaker 3: People are throwing the ball effectively on the Gators this year.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Maybe the short game, it's been done different ways, but
- 2:52Speaker 3: you're going to have opportunities.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I don't love this matchup for Florida. Texas is obviously
- 2:59Speaker 1: very talented and Florida is kind of reeling, but I
- 3:02Speaker 1: don't love that Florida wants to establish the run and
- 3:08Speaker 1: nobody runs on Texas, and then Arch has certainly got
- 3:12Speaker 1: his question marks and their secondary is terrible. Like I
- 3:14Speaker 1: just kind of think like it's, it's Florida's strength up
- 3:17Speaker 1: against Texas's strength, which could get negated some for the Gators.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Cause you know, I think ball is better than Bishop.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I don't know that their offensive line is as good
- 3:26Speaker 1: as Tennessee's and Bishop couldn't get anything running the ball.
- 3:29Speaker 1: And then again, I, I, I think, again, if you're Texas,
- 3:33Speaker 1: if you're not throwing the ball effectively here, unless you
- 3:36Speaker 1: are just, which Arch did against Oklahoma on the pick six,
- 3:40Speaker 1: if you're not putting it up on a silver platter,
- 3:42Speaker 1: there should be windows for them to find completions here.
- 3:46Speaker 1: And so it kind of feels like a game to
- 3:48Speaker 1: me if Texas plays their game and doesn't turn the
- 3:52Speaker 1: ball over or have lapses in special teams, that Texas
- 3:55Speaker 1: can win this comfortably by 14 or so. If they
- 3:59Speaker 1: do give Florida those opportunities, it's certainly a team that's
- 4:02Speaker 1: talented enough to beat you because it did it last year.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Yeah, for the Texas side, this starts with taking away
- 4:09Speaker 3: Jaden Ball.
- 4:10Speaker 2: And this is where I think, and I'm not sure,
- 4:12Speaker 2: I say limiting.
- 4:14Speaker 3: I'm not sure he's going to be shut down like
- 4:15Speaker 3: Missouri did earlier this year.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Again, we'll see.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Texas has the ability to do that. But here's why
- 4:22Speaker 3: I say that that's always going to be the key, right?
- 4:25Speaker 3: When you have a back like Jaden Ball, especially in that,
- 4:28Speaker 3: Stretch play, that wide zone, Missouri really shut down that day.
- 4:33Speaker 3: What I think is interesting about Florida now, and I'm
- 4:38Speaker 3: waiting to see this with the Gators, is when they
- 4:42Speaker 3: have their pieces, all their skill around Jaden Ball, I
- 4:46Speaker 3: think teams have to take a hat out of the box.
- 4:50Speaker 3: And once Vernell Brown was out, and Singleton's more of
- 4:54Speaker 3: going out there getting cardio, because he wasn't 100% versus
- 4:57Speaker 3: being a real threat. And Missouri's also a wide zone
- 5:03Speaker 3: offensive team, so they practice against it a lot.
- 5:05Speaker 2: But you have the ability to put the extra hat
- 5:08Speaker 2: in the box.
- 5:10Speaker 3: So I know Florida fans have been, oh, our offensive
- 5:12Speaker 3: line is not good now. I think there's elements there,
- 5:16Speaker 3: but I also think, just the simplicity of the game
- 5:19Speaker 3: is Vernell Brown out, Eric Singleton limited, and what you
- 5:22Speaker 3: thought you were going to be, well, then you can
- 5:25Speaker 3: put the extra hat in the box. And if you
- 5:27Speaker 3: can outmatch, you're going to win against the run a
- 5:30Speaker 3: large percentage of the time. So here's my long-winded answer
- 5:34Speaker 3: to the question is, can Texas limit the run with
- 5:41Speaker 3: a lighter box? Can they win enough one-on-one matchups if
- 5:46Speaker 3: Dallas Turner– Vernell Brown, and Singleton are all out there
- 5:50Speaker 3: on the field. Because in the misdirection, then everything starts
- 5:55Speaker 3: to have a better opportunity.
- 5:57Speaker 2: To work for Florida effectively.
- 6:00Speaker 3: But again, if Texas can take away Ball or limit
- 6:03Speaker 3: Ball with a light box, then Florida's going to have
- 6:07Speaker 3: a tough time. If Texas has to bring the extra
- 6:09Speaker 3: hat into the box, if Ball gets going early and say, okay, well,
- 6:13Speaker 3: we've got to bring the extra hat into the box–
- 6:17Speaker 3: Then Texas is Dallas Wilson, Vernell Brown, Singleton. Somebody's going
- 6:23Speaker 3: to have a favorable matchup on the island. They're really
- 6:27Speaker 3: good players. Not many teams have three defensive backs the
- 6:34Speaker 3: level you need to hold down all three of those
- 6:38Speaker 3: guys over a full game. I think they're really good players.
- 6:42Speaker 3: I think they're four skill guys. They're three wides and
- 6:44Speaker 3: Jaden Ball together. maybe the most talented quartet in the SEC.
- 6:49Speaker 3: But Florida fans haven't seen those guys healthy in the
- 6:52Speaker 3: same game for an extended period of time all season.
- 6:56Speaker 2: I also think.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Vernell Brown as a pump returner is something in this
- 6:59Speaker 3: game as well. But it comes down to taking away
- 7:02Speaker 3: the run if you're Texas or limiting the run without
- 7:07Speaker 3: putting the extra hat in the box. But also now
- 7:10Speaker 3: there's the other piece to this, TJ. Tramell Jones likely
- 7:13Speaker 3: to be the starter, right? I think we– Philo's listed
- 7:17Speaker 3: as questionable, but I think people believe that cover Florida
- 7:20Speaker 3: that he's not going to go and Tramiel Jones is
- 7:22Speaker 3: going to get his first college start. So if that
- 7:25Speaker 3: is the case, it's a pretty tough spot for Tramiel
- 7:28Speaker 3: Jones in Austin against Will Muschamp's defense in his first
- 7:32Speaker 3: career start. I'm not saying he's not a good player.
- 7:33Speaker 3: I saw him at Mandarin in high school, Jacksonville Mandarin,
- 7:36Speaker 3: when I was covering Jamie French as recruitment for Texas.
- 7:40Speaker 3: He has talent. He's a super smart kid. That's a
- 7:44Speaker 3: tough spot if that's your first start.
- 7:46Speaker 1: First start against a pass rush that put 10 packs on,
- 7:50Speaker 1: you know, and we've talked about the run game and
- 7:52Speaker 1: what extra bodies might look like there, Florida again, now
- 7:56Speaker 1: extra man in the box can certainly impact it. But
- 7:58Speaker 1: if Florida doesn't have the running game going, it's pin
- 8:02Speaker 1: your ears back time for seven and the boys, like
- 8:05Speaker 1: four first rounders, which is, which ask, ask, ask my
- 8:09Speaker 1: boy phase on about that. It's like, it's a tough life.
- 8:13Speaker 3: Third and ten against a really good defensive coordinator. Third
- 8:16Speaker 3: and longs against a really good defensive coordinator that has
- 8:18Speaker 3: a bunch of NFL guys on his defensive front is
- 8:21Speaker 3: never a formula for success. Also has a linebacker like
- 8:24Speaker 3: Raheem Biles, who is a real playmaker on the ball.
- 8:28Speaker 3: He is a great spy. He creates turnovers. None of
- 8:33Speaker 3: that's a good formula. So I do think first down
- 8:38Speaker 3: offense for Florida is going to be very key on
- 8:40Speaker 3: the road in Austin.
- 8:42Speaker 1: What about offensively for Texas? Again, we've talked about the
- 8:45Speaker 1: ups and downs with Arch, but it feels like a
- 8:48Speaker 1: Florida defense that certainly the last two weeks with Sellers
- 8:51Speaker 1: and Simmons going off, a Florida defense that at least
- 8:55Speaker 1: right now can be gotten.
- 8:56Speaker 2: If you're Texas....
- 9:00Speaker 1: I mean, do you feel like it's probably a get-right
- 9:02Speaker 1: game for Arch? And if not now, then are you
- 9:05Speaker 1: going to get a get-right game? I mean, you know,
- 9:07Speaker 1: is Arkansas on the schedule? You know, like, is there
- 9:10Speaker 1: somebody that we can play that's got a worse defense?
- 9:13Speaker 1: It feels like, man, it's got to be this week.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the rest of October, and I've kind
- 9:19Speaker 3: of coined it on On Texas Football, must win October
- 9:22Speaker 3: after you take a loss, right, with the expectations Texas had.
- 9:25Speaker 3: They have Florida, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State at home.
- 9:29Speaker 2: The rest of the month.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Florida about 109 in total defense, Ole Miss 108, Mississippi
- 9:35Speaker 3: State around 96. To your point, TJ, this is the time.
- 9:42Speaker 3: And I've said before, I think the box score, I
- 9:44Speaker 3: think the scoring opportunities, yards, yards per play, I think
- 9:50Speaker 3: all those numbers are going to look better for Texas
- 9:54Speaker 3: than the rest of the month. And it's only natural
- 9:57Speaker 3: because you played Matt Patricia in Ohio State. Jim Knowles
- 10:00Speaker 3: in Tennessee, and Brent Venables in Oklahoma. Three of the
- 10:02Speaker 3: best DCs in college football, and they all have a
- 10:04Speaker 3: bunch of NFL players.
- 10:06Speaker 2: So it's only.
- 10:06Speaker 3: Natural you're playing lesser defenses. Lesser DCs may not. How
- 10:12Speaker 3: about less established DCs? Those guys have great resume.
- 10:17Speaker 1: It's good PR. You're being nice on a Thursday.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Thank you. But to your point.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Hey, I'll get right back to chatting with Jerry. But first,
- 10:25Speaker 1: do me a favor. If you are watching this and
- 10:27Speaker 1: you are not currently subscribed here, hit that button. Don't
- 10:30Speaker 1: ask for it on every single video. Try out the
- 10:32Speaker 1: Mabarji with you guys. But we are getting really close
- 10:34Speaker 1: to a pretty big milestone, a pretty big goal. And
- 10:37Speaker 1: we would love if you helped us hit it. Second,
- 10:38Speaker 1: if you are already subscribed, I know many of you are.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Make sure you're subscribed over on audio as well. Just
- 10:43Speaker 1: type in College Football Addiction over on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Spreaker, wherever.
- 10:48Speaker 1: And we would love if you supported us there as well.
- 10:50Speaker 1: It doesn't cost anything. It is free. We would love
- 10:52Speaker 1: your support. All right, back to the interview.
- 10:54Speaker 3: To your point, Lenore Sellers, Byron Brown threw the ball
- 11:00Speaker 3: on Florida. 271 yards. Lenore Sellers had his best game
- 11:03Speaker 3: of the season. Sure, your dad's going to do it
- 11:05Speaker 3: against anybody, right? But you have seen that quarterbacks have
- 11:10Speaker 3: kind of had their best game. Austin Simmons had their
- 11:14Speaker 3: best game throwing the football or a get well game
- 11:17Speaker 3: throwing the football.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Against Florida.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Florida's given up 293 yards passing per game, I believe
- 11:22Speaker 3: is the number this year, and it's about the same
- 11:24Speaker 3: in SEC play.
- 11:26Speaker 2: So I think the key here for.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Texas is, and this is one of the things, Rod Babers,
- 11:31Speaker 3: who is a big part of our On Texas Football channel,
- 11:33Speaker 3: former Texas corner and NFL corner, for the Texas fans
- 11:37Speaker 3: that listen to this, he loves Texas going more higher
- 11:42Speaker 3: percentage of 10 personnel, 11 personnel, your staple, 10 personnel
- 11:47Speaker 3: versus 12 personnel.
- 11:48Speaker 2: I agree with Rod on that.
- 11:50Speaker 3: I think that's going to make the game easier for Arch,
- 11:54Speaker 3: better offensively for this Texas team. My biggest thing with
- 12:01Speaker 3: the Texas offense, there's two right now, TJ, is what
- 12:08Speaker 3: personnel groupings, no matter what personnel.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Grouping you're in, can you run the football well enough? Yeah.
- 12:14Speaker 2: to help Arch and to help maximize this offense and
- 12:19Speaker 2: this team.
- 12:20Speaker 3: And then two is, I think Arch has had some struggles.
- 12:23Speaker 3: I think progressing, progressions in plays. I think when first
- 12:33Speaker 3: read is there, or he knows where to go with
- 12:35Speaker 3: the football, the headset communication, Sark sees it, boom. I
- 12:39Speaker 3: think they've been successful. I think once it goes beyond
- 12:42Speaker 3: that kind of the, Surviving and making the correct play
- 12:47Speaker 3: in chaos has been an issue.
- 12:49Speaker 2: When it's chaotic has been an issue.
- 12:52Speaker 3: So I think there's a couple there for the Texas offense,
- 12:55Speaker 3: and I know Sark's taking a lot of heat play calling-wise.
- 12:58Speaker 3: I think when offense is bad, everything's going to be
- 13:02Speaker 3: under the microscope. Obviously the head coach is the OC
- 13:05Speaker 3: the most, but I think there's a number of issues
- 13:08Speaker 3: here for the Texas offense.
- 13:11Speaker 2: But when you're only playing well in one.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Of the three phases– and that's defense, special teams, and
- 13:16Speaker 3: offense have not been where they need to be. There's
- 13:19Speaker 3: a lot going on in this game coming up for Texas,
- 13:23Speaker 3: and I do think this is a season-defining game for
- 13:25Speaker 3: the Longhorns.
- 13:26Speaker 2: It's a must-win game. Yeah.
- 13:28Speaker 1: The schedule sets up with a Florida team that beat
- 13:31Speaker 1: you last year, Ole Miss team with Trinidad, which can do,
- 13:35Speaker 1: you know, I want to see it against Texas defense,
- 13:37Speaker 1: but still can do really special things and has quite often.
- 13:41Speaker 1: You'd like them, I think, against Mississippi State, knowing kind
- 13:44Speaker 1: of where they are defensively. But the Missouri game, Missouri
- 13:48Speaker 1: and LSU back-to-back road trips is crazy. Now, I think
- 13:52Speaker 1: Arkansas A & M at the end of the year,
- 13:54Speaker 1: you know, there should certainly be wins. But Missouri is
- 13:58Speaker 1: a lot better than I think people realize. And LSU
- 14:00Speaker 1: at home is always still LSU at home. I know
- 14:02Speaker 1: they've had their, their struggles on the road, but they're
- 14:05Speaker 1: a different team. It is man. Like if you lose
- 14:07Speaker 1: this one or really any of them, the margin for
- 14:09Speaker 1: error is, is zero and taking them back to back. It's,
- 14:12Speaker 1: it's tough. And man, there's a lot of good teams. I,
- 14:16Speaker 1: I think 10 and two gets them in, but I
- 14:17Speaker 1: don't know that it's a, I don't know that it's
- 14:19Speaker 1: a guarantee, you know, like I think it's the win
- 14:21Speaker 1: against Ohio state is going to help a lot. You're
- 14:23Speaker 1: going to have a win against Missouri or LSU or,
- 14:26Speaker 1: or like you're gonna have really good wins. 10 and
- 14:28Speaker 1: two probably does it.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:30Speaker 1: But I, it's, it's not a guarantee, you know, like you're,
- 14:34Speaker 1: it's tough, man.
- 14:35Speaker 2: TJ, great.
- 14:37Speaker 3: To your point, this is where I've kind of been
- 14:39Speaker 3: on the next three games for Texas is it, Even
- 14:44Speaker 3: if Texas scores more points in these games, it's not
- 14:49Speaker 3: the– it's the how.
- 14:51Speaker 2: If you're playing lesser.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Defensive teams and you go score more points, that's one thing.
- 14:57Speaker 3: A lot of people have, right? That's kind of– you know,
- 15:00Speaker 3: we just talked about the quarterbacks. I mean, South Carolina
- 15:03Speaker 3: put up 38.
- 15:03Speaker 2: In the swamp last week.
- 15:07Speaker 3: But it's are you actually improving in the areas you
- 15:10Speaker 3: need to improve versus are you finding more success– because
- 15:14Speaker 3: of lesser defensive opponents.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Because if you're not improving in the areas you need
- 15:20Speaker 3: to improve, then to your point, what are the odds
- 15:24Speaker 3: you're going to go– by the way, A & M' s
- 15:26Speaker 3: not– Marcel's playing terrible. A & M' s not very good
- 15:29Speaker 3: this year. That's still a road game and a rivalry.
- 15:33Speaker 2: So are you going to.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Go win three road games in four weeks in November?
- 15:37Speaker 3: We see this every year in college football. Somebody's going
- 15:40Speaker 3: down and a lot of people are going down in November. Yeah.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:44Speaker 3: And, you know, with the SEC outside of Georgia, I
- 15:48Speaker 3: think there's a ton of parity in this. To your point,
- 15:51Speaker 3: I think anybody, almost anybody can beat anybody.
- 15:55Speaker 2: I think Arkansas is different, right? That's kind of a
- 15:57Speaker 2: different deal. Put them away. But you have to see
- 16:01Speaker 2: improvement more than box score impressive. Right.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Because, like you said, when you go to Missouri and
- 16:08Speaker 3: when you go to LSU back-to-back, That's going to be
- 16:12Speaker 3: high-level games. I don't care what LSU's record necessarily is.
- 16:17Speaker 3: That's Arch Manning going to LSU. Yeah. And that could
- 16:21Speaker 3: be a very desperate LSU team at that time. But
- 16:25Speaker 3: I think 10-2 is what's going to be required. I mean,
- 16:28Speaker 3: I think Texas would get in with their schedule. And
- 16:31Speaker 3: Texas fans are like, you're an idiot for even talking playoffs.
- 16:33Speaker 3: But we talk about all these scenarios.
- 16:35Speaker 2: 9-3, I don't think Texas gets in. Yeah, I think
- 16:37Speaker 2: it'd be. You've got to win the next three home games,
- 16:39Speaker 2: bottom line. Yeah.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Zooming out just a little bit. This weekend is phenomenal.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Yes.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Do you, I think Ohio state's playing as good as
- 16:49Speaker 1: anybody in the country right now. Do you think Indiana
- 16:51Speaker 1: can win at home?
- 16:53Speaker 3: I don't think Indiana is what we saw last week
- 16:57Speaker 3: against Nebraska.
- 16:58Speaker 2: That isn't going to beat Ohio state, right?
- 17:01Speaker 3: It's good coaching week for Kirk's and Nettie because they
- 17:03Speaker 3: found a way to win a game.
- 17:05Speaker 2: They aren't playing at the level.
- 17:07Speaker 3: He probably, he would want them to, um, But it's
- 17:10Speaker 3: a great coaching week because you did win, and you
- 17:12Speaker 3: get to coach these guys super hard leading up to
- 17:15Speaker 3: the biggest game of your season. I think Ohio State's
- 17:19Speaker 3: got some interesting injuries. Siverand's not playing. He's listed as
- 17:23Speaker 3: out on the injury report. Ohio State, that's maybe significant
- 17:27Speaker 3: for them in this game. But I still look at this. Indiana,
- 17:32Speaker 3: while their numbers are good, and I think Turbo Richards,
- 17:35Speaker 3: a really good back they got out of the portal,
- 17:36Speaker 3: are they going to run the ball well enough? the
- 17:40Speaker 3: rest of the season, close to the level they did
- 17:43Speaker 3: last year. I think that's something to watch. I still
- 17:46Speaker 3: think they can run the ball, but are they to
- 17:48Speaker 3: that level? How does it look like this year so far?
- 17:52Speaker 3: But I actually pick Ohio State, and maybe I'm dumb
- 17:55Speaker 3: to go against Cignetti.
- 17:56Speaker 2: How many games is it, Walt? Does this seem like
- 17:59Speaker 2: I'm an idiot right now?
- 18:00Speaker 3: I am an idiot probably, but I do like Ohio
- 18:02Speaker 3: State in this game because, look, I think Ohio State
- 18:06Speaker 3: may have been building since the Texas loss a little
- 18:09Speaker 3: bit and I'm not sure Indiana's playing at the level
- 18:14Speaker 3: that people thought they would early this year so I
- 18:18Speaker 3: like Ohio State in this game without looking at the
- 18:20Speaker 3: weather report or anything crazy.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Yeah I'm I'm on Ohio State and again betting against
- 18:25Speaker 1: or picking against Cignetti kind of feels futile like picking
- 18:28Speaker 1: against Kirby and I usually get proven wrong but if
- 18:31Speaker 1: I get proven wrong then so be it can BYU
- 18:35Speaker 1: mount anything Against Notre Dame?
- 18:38Speaker 3: Look, unless the entire Notre Dame team can't handle the altitude.
- 18:42Speaker 2: I say no.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I would love to see the upset, but I
- 18:46Speaker 1: just don't know that it's super realistic.
- 18:49Speaker 3: And I'm not saying it's not possible, TJ. Look, anything's possible.
- 18:52Speaker 3: That's going to be a crazy crowd.
- 18:54Speaker 2: It's in Provo. My issue is LJ Martin's out, I believe,
- 18:58Speaker 2: for BYU.
- 18:59Speaker 1: He is, yeah.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Okay, so their best offensive player's out, and their run
- 19:03Speaker 3: game threat is out. Notre Dame is really good on defense. Like,
- 19:08Speaker 3: they can man you up and they can take away
- 19:09Speaker 3: your run game. And I think CJ Carr, even though
- 19:14Speaker 3: he's starting to get some run, I think CJ Carr
- 19:16Speaker 3: is being undervalued as a college quarterback right now.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Is he the most dynamic guy? Is he the most
- 19:23Speaker 2: talented guy?
- 19:25Speaker 3: No.
- 19:27Speaker 2: I think he may be the smartest quarterback in college football, though.
- 19:30Speaker 3: He can get you in and out of plays. He
- 19:33Speaker 3: can make the calls and the checks at the line
- 19:35Speaker 3: of scrimmage. He can get you right after that headset
- 19:41Speaker 3: clicks off at 15 seconds.
- 19:42Speaker 2: And I think that's underrated.
- 19:44Speaker 3: And they are starting to run the football better with
- 19:46Speaker 3: the freshman, Jonas Walton.
- 19:48Speaker 2: So I like Notre Dame in this case.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Missouri and Ole Miss I don't know that we had
- 19:54Speaker 1: that one circled before the season but two of the
- 19:56Speaker 1: better quarterbacks in this conference and Ole Miss is a
- 19:59Speaker 1: seven point favorite at home I kind of worry about
- 20:02Speaker 1: their defense a little bit against Austin Simmons and I
- 20:05Speaker 1: like their defense a little bit more than I like
- 20:07Speaker 1: uh I like their defense. Not that I like anybody
- 20:10Speaker 1: to slow Trinidad down incredibly, but maybe I'm still high
- 20:14Speaker 1: on that Florida game, but I like their defense. I
- 20:16Speaker 1: think they've got a good chance to go pull the upset.
- 20:18Speaker 1: We'll see if they do, but road wins in the
- 20:20Speaker 1: sec are tough, but I like, I kind of like Missouri.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Here and they can run the football.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Yeah. Can't stop anybody.
- 20:26Speaker 2: There you go.
- 20:29Speaker 3: I may not be at the health of key one Lacey.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:32Speaker 2: I mean, I, where is he at?
- 20:35Speaker 3: But, Look, I think what's interesting to this game is
- 20:38Speaker 3: this was a quarterback competition a year ago in Oxford, too.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Austin Simmons was the starter.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Then he got Wally Pipped, you know, by Trinidad, who
- 20:46Speaker 3: are the best players in America.
- 20:49Speaker 2: So Austin Simmons is going back home to Ole Miss. Now,
- 20:52Speaker 2: he ain't getting the Lane Kiffin treatment.
- 20:54Speaker 1: We know that.
- 20:55Speaker 2: But Austin Simmons will be pretty motivated to go.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Against Trinidad Chambliss in this game, too. I think Eli's–
- 21:01Speaker 3: I think his team comes in with a ton of confidence.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Yeah. A ton of confidence.
- 21:06Speaker 3: But if Ole Miss can't stop the run, they can
- 21:09Speaker 3: absolutely– if they can't limit it because Missouri's still got
- 21:12Speaker 3: the leading rusher in the SEC even with Jaden Hardy
- 21:15Speaker 3: over there watching as he rehabs. I like Missouri to
- 21:19Speaker 3: pull the upset in this game. It's going to be
- 21:22Speaker 3: high scoring though. This could come down to the last
- 21:23Speaker 3: team with the ball.
- 21:26Speaker 1: College football so often is better than you could script–
- 21:29Speaker 1: And so like, you just kind of like, you know,
- 21:32Speaker 1: it's kind of, kind of scripted, you know? And so like,
- 21:35Speaker 1: not by anybody, you know, not like by Greg Sankey,
- 21:37Speaker 1: but just by like God or whoever, like you could
- 21:41Speaker 1: see Simmons going back in there and getting the, like,
- 21:43Speaker 1: that's just kind of the way these things work out. So,
- 21:45Speaker 1: all right, Texas, Florida, give me a score and we'll
- 21:47Speaker 1: get out.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Uh, I've got Texas 34, 27. Like I'm a little,
- 21:55Speaker 3: I think the line jumped to 11 and a half. Um,
- 22:00Speaker 3: Because Philo, I think, you know, people don't think he's–
- 22:03Speaker 3: Vegas doesn't think he's going to.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Play, right?
- 22:04Speaker 3: It jumped from 9.5 to 11.5.
- 22:07Speaker 2: But I do.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Think Florida presents, if they're healthy enough, right, which they
- 22:13Speaker 3: have in the last two games, I think they can score. Look,
- 22:17Speaker 3: Will Muschamp's really good. The Texas defense is really good.
- 22:20Speaker 3: But they're about to face better offensive personnel talent-wise than
- 22:24Speaker 3: they have to this date, save Ohio State. And I–
- 22:30Speaker 3: Special teams worries me for Texas in this game. So
- 22:33Speaker 3: let me change that.
- 22:34Speaker 2: 34-24 Texas.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I kind of like Texas. I kind of like
- 22:39Speaker 1: Texas by multiple scores unless things get fluky, which I
- 22:43Speaker 1: guess I said that last week too. But I think
- 22:46Speaker 1: Florida is going to– if it's Jones, I think they'll
- 22:48Speaker 1: score some. But I don't know if they can do
- 22:50Speaker 1: it consistently enough. And I think Texas takes care of
- 22:53Speaker 1: the ball a little bit better than they did last week.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Well, you would hope so. You would hope.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Where can people follow you? What do you got coming
- 22:59Speaker 1: this week as we get closer to kickoff?
- 23:01Speaker 2: Yeah, on Texas Football YouTube channel, on texasfootball.com. Come over there.
- 23:07Speaker 3: If you want to jump in the discussion, we have
- 23:09Speaker 3: coffee and football show Monday through Friday. We have night

- 23:15Speaker 3: live shows every day.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Come jump in the chat. Talk college ball with us, Texas, Florida, whatever.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Tell me I'm an idiot. I love it. But on
- 23:24Speaker 2: Texas Football YouTube channel, on texasfootball.com.
- 23:27Speaker 1: My favorite thing about the YouTube comments is when I'll
- 23:29Speaker 1: do a video on any random team, Notre Dame and
- 23:33Speaker 1: two comments back to back. We'll say, I've never seen
- 23:36Speaker 1: somebody who knows less about football than you. And then
- 23:38Speaker 1: the very next one will be, this is the best
- 23:40Speaker 1: breakdown I've ever heard. I've been a Notre Dame fan
- 23:42Speaker 1: for 45 years. The best one I've ever heard. I
- 23:44Speaker 1: love screenshotting those back to back and posts on Twitter
- 23:46Speaker 1: and saying only on YouTube. So, um, appreciate you, man.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Appreciate our friends over at prize pigs. Again, all new
- 23:52Speaker 1: users play $ 5, get 115 laps instantly. If you win
- 23:53Speaker 1: using code HMA, uh, I'm sure we'll see you again
- 23:57Speaker 1: soon as Texas plays everybody good in the SEC this year.
- 23:59Speaker 1: But thanks for hanging out, bud.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Absolutely. Thanks, TJ.
