- 0:00All right,
- 0:00welcome to the podcast.
- 0:01You know,
- 0:01we were
- 0:02taking calls on the radio after Kamala Harris's speech,
- 0:05and we got so many people calling in,
- 0:07and we only had so much time on the radio to get to them.
- 0:10And
- 0:11there's a lot of different perspectives.
- 0:13There was panic,
- 0:14there was,
- 0:15uh,
- 0:15excitement for what's coming over the next 10 weeks.
- 0:18It's going to be a very interesting time as we lead up to November,
- 0:22but I
- 0:23figured we could,
- 0:24there were so many people who didn't get a chance to get on.
- 0:26I,
- 0:26I thought maybe we could take a bunch of the callers and and just drop it as a bonus pod
- 0:30here.
- 0:31So let's do that now,
- 0:32we'll start with Jeff in North Carolina.
- 0:34Hey Jeff.
- 0:35Hey,
- 0:36how are you doing?
- 0:37Can you hear me OK?
- 0:37I can hear you perfectly.
- 0:39What's going on?
- 0:40Um,
- 0:41I,
- 0:41uh,
- 0:42first of all,
- 0:42I didn't watch the convention,
- 0:44so I,
- 0:44I can't give any feedback on that.
- 0:46I just couldn't stomach it.
- 0:48Understandable,
- 0:49understandable reaction.
- 0:50I wanted to do the same exact thing except they pay me to watch it.
- 0:54Right.
- 0:54And that's,
- 0:55that's what you're getting paid for.
- 0:56I understand.
- 0:56But,
- 0:57um,
- 0:57the thing is,
- 0:58um,
- 1:00You know,
- 1:00the only joy that I see in the DNC or in the Democratic Party is Joy Reed,
- 1:06but,
- 1:06um,
- 1:06and that's a,
- 1:07that's an awful.
- 1:08There's also Joy Behar,
- 1:09and neither one exemplified Joy,
- 1:12you know,
- 1:13forgot about her.
- 1:14Uh,
- 1:14my,
- 1:15my reason for calling was,
- 1:16um,
- 1:17I know,
- 1:17um,
- 1:18Glenn and,
- 1:18and you guys have some connections to
- 1:21the Trump
- 1:22people,
- 1:23and,
- 1:23um,
- 1:24one of the main talking points,
- 1:25uh,
- 1:26that I've seen and heard lately.
- 1:28Is that,
- 1:29uh,
- 1:29Trump
- 1:30squashed their
- 1:32border bill,
- 1:33you know,
- 1:33with his influence.
- 1:34And if my memory is not,
- 1:37uh,
- 1:38so bad,
- 1:38I remember when he was
- 1:40president,
- 1:41I don't think he had a lot of,
- 1:42uh,
- 1:43cooperation from,
- 1:44uh,
- 1:45Congress or,
- 1:45you know,
- 1:46from the Senate or the House or anybody.
- 1:48I think he had to do pretty much everything by executive orders.
- 1:51Uh,
- 1:52Am I,
- 1:52am I wrong in that?
- 1:54And if so,
- 1:54I mean,
- 1:55why,
- 1:55why couldn't they have done the same thing?
- 1:57Yeah,
- 1:57it's fascinating.
- 1:58They were,
- 1:59they're all bipartisan now,
- 2:00uh,
- 2:01and
- 2:02back when Trump was president,
- 2:03they wouldn't even entertain any of his ideas.
- 2:05You're right,
- 2:06he had to do most of it that way.
- 2:08And this is the problem,
- 2:09this is the reason why Trump was not in support of the quote unquote bipartisan bill.
- 2:14Part of it was that the bill wasn't that strong,
- 2:16and he just didn't like it.
- 2:17But part of it also was,
- 2:19it was an obvious attempt by the Democrats to pass,
- 2:22quote unquote something so they could make the argument to
- 2:24the people that they did something on the border.
- 2:27And he's,
- 2:27you know,
- 2:28look,
- 2:28everybody saw through that,
- 2:30you know,
- 2:31he,
- 2:31Trump was not the only one.
- 2:32The fact that he opposed that bill was partially just because it wasn't a great bill,
- 2:36but also because it was just
- 2:39an excuse to say you did something,
- 2:41that something would not solve the problem,
- 2:43and then if Trump becomes president,
- 2:45the,
- 2:46there would be no more bipartisan energy there,
- 2:48there'd be no way to get it done.
- 2:50So,
- 2:51that's why,
- 2:52you know,
- 2:52look,
- 2:52this is a tactic by the left,
- 2:54this is not real.
- 2:54Obviously they don't care about the border,
- 2:57they don't care about border security.
- 2:59And I,
- 3:00I will promise you this,
- 3:01if Kamala Harris is elected,
- 3:03she will not for one day pursue
- 3:06that bill.
- 3:07She will not do it.
- 3:08She will no longer care about it
- 3:11until maybe she comes down to re-election and once again
- 3:13has to try to fool a bunch of people.
- 3:15Jeff,
- 3:15thanks so much for,
- 3:16uh,
- 3:16calling in.
- 3:17Let's go to Connie in North Carolina.
- 3:19Welcome,
- 3:19Connie.
- 3:21Hi Stu,
- 3:22how are you?
- 3:22Thanks for um taking my call.
- 3:24It was a long wait.
- 3:25I know,
- 3:26I apologize that I,
- 3:27we wanted to make sure that we,
- 3:28we,
- 3:28we took the call because I know there's so many people that
- 3:31lined up and I appreciate you taking all the time and waiting.
- 3:34No worries,
- 3:35um,
- 3:36just wanted to really just kind of share a testimony and hope that people,
- 3:41your audience will listen.
- 3:43And I'm sure a lot of people get this already,
- 3:45but,
- 3:46um,
- 3:46because Glenn really
- 3:48walks the walk,
- 3:49I feel like and talks the talk with his faith,
- 3:52I believe this is a great platform to share.
- 3:55But
- 3:56we were watching it last night,
- 3:57and the main comment is,
- 3:59no,
- 3:59I did not watch her speak,
- 4:01and I work in politics.
- 4:04My,
- 4:04the firm I work for is out of Texas.
- 4:06So
- 4:07I normally listen to everyone just so I can take notes.
- 4:11Um,
- 4:11but I
- 4:12said
- 4:13something said,
- 4:15no,
- 4:15don't watch it.
- 4:17And the only thing that kept coming to mind was
- 4:20the past few days I
- 4:23saw all of these clips,
- 4:25you know,
- 4:25which you played on your show.
- 4:27I,
- 4:27I had called before you even played these clips on your show
- 4:31about joy.
- 4:33And every time I saw that,
- 4:35I literally just got sick because I realized that
- 4:40The spirit,
- 4:41the enemy was trying to use
- 4:44joy
- 4:46to deceive,
- 4:47to deceive us and make a mockery out of how I live my entire life,
- 4:53which is God's book of order,
- 4:56and
- 4:57the fruit of the spirit
- 4:59is joy.
- 5:00That's one of the fruits.
- 5:02So I just,
- 5:03you know,
- 5:03my husband's like,
- 5:04I can't believe you're not going to watch this.
- 5:05I'm like,
- 5:06No,
- 5:07I,
- 5:07I really don't want to watch it,
- 5:09and
- 5:10now I know clearly,
- 5:12and that's what the enemy does,
- 5:14the spirit of deception
- 5:16is so strong unless you are
- 5:20Filled with the Holy Spirit because there's a spirit of religion everywhere.
- 5:25And those people are going to be deceived because,
- 5:29I mean,
- 5:29she sounds good.
- 5:31I've heard her speak before.
- 5:32I'm like,
- 5:32oh,
- 5:33she's,
- 5:33she's good.
- 5:34They're gonna love her just like,
- 5:36you know,
- 5:36Gavin and some of these others.
- 5:38But you realize
- 5:40Wow,
- 5:40this is such a
- 5:43spiritual battle that we're in,
- 5:45and sometimes we just need to take action,
- 5:49get out in our community,
- 5:51and,
- 5:52you know,
- 5:52form,
- 5:53you know,
- 5:53help with voting and really do something about it
- 5:57and really just pray because we don't even know.
- 6:00I mean,
- 6:00in North Carolina now,
- 6:02I read where
- 6:03you can now vote with your college ID,
- 6:06the,
- 6:07the schools now.
- 6:08So there's just a lot going on and
- 6:12it is scary.
- 6:13Um,
- 6:14my husband,
- 6:15he and his family came here
- 6:17years ago from South Africa for this great country.
- 6:21So he has
- 6:23seen
- 6:24a lot of this.
- 6:27And you know I have coworkers that live in,
- 6:30you know,
- 6:30Colombia that had to move their family from Venezuela,
- 6:34and part of their family is still there.
- 6:36They have seen this and they are
- 6:40definitely,
- 6:41you know,
- 6:42not happy with the way that America is going and,
- 6:46and really have said,
- 6:47you know,
- 6:48she's trying to come here and she's saying,
- 6:51My friends and I,
- 6:52we don't want to come there anymore.
- 6:53Now
- 6:53that's terrible and you hate to hear that because this is,
- 6:56this is the place,
- 6:57right?
- 6:58It's,
- 6:58it's the country,
- 6:59it's the best place,
- 7:00I think the best country that's ever
- 7:02graced the face of the earth.
- 7:04But that being said,
- 7:05you know,
- 7:05when you're talking about the joy part of it,
- 7:07obviously some of this is just politics,
- 7:09right?
- 7:09They want to switch the narrative,
- 7:11they,
- 7:11they believe they can show a contrast between Donald Trump,
- 7:14who,
- 7:14you know,
- 7:15look,
- 7:15a lot of times,
- 7:16Uh,
- 7:16doesn't come off as super joyful.
- 7:18They're looking to change the dynamic of the race,
- 7:20but
- 7:21as you point out,
- 7:22uh,
- 7:22Connie,
- 7:22there are always much larger,
- 7:25uh,
- 7:25forces at play,
- 7:26and,
- 7:26uh,
- 7:27thanks a lot for pointing it out.
- 7:28Uh,
- 7:28Mark,
- 7:29uh,
- 7:29in Georgia.
- 7:30Mark,
- 7:31welcome.
- 7:33Hey,
- 7:34how you doing,
- 7:34Stu?
- 7:34Really well,
- 7:35thanks,
- 7:35Mark.
- 7:37I,
- 7:37I,
- 7:37you know,
- 7:38I wanted to say
- 7:39from the,
- 7:40from the upset,
- 7:41uh,
- 7:41from the jump that,
- 7:42uh,
- 7:42you know,
- 7:43you let me down a little bit when,
- 7:44when Glenn had his surgery because I kept waiting for one of
- 7:47you guys to make a Marty Feldman reference and nobody ever did.
- 7:51I,
- 7:52I hate to let you down on such an important part of the broadcast,
- 7:56but,
- 7:56uh,
- 7:56you just,
- 7:57all I can do is apologize,
- 7:58waiting
- 7:59and waiting,
- 8:00but anyway,
- 8:01um,
- 8:02all,
- 8:02all the,
- 8:03the joy stuff,
- 8:04OK,
- 8:04now I've counted.
- 8:06I think about 300 times that they,
- 8:09they
- 8:10quoted or not quoted,
- 8:11but they said Trump.
- 8:13All this joy stuff is communist babble.
- 8:16It doesn't matter a damn what she says.
- 8:19It's
- 8:20Designed to quell the masses.
- 8:22It's,
- 8:23uh,
- 8:23like,
- 8:23you know,
- 8:24what,
- 8:24what,
- 8:25what did,
- 8:25uh,
- 8:26Stalin say?
- 8:27Opium,
- 8:28our religion is the opium of the masses.
- 8:31Well this,
- 8:31in this case,
- 8:32that's what they wanna hear.
- 8:33They wanna hear those
- 8:35those soft words.
- 8:36Everything's gonna be OK.
- 8:37Remember Joe Biden ran as a as a center,
- 8:40uh,
- 8:41you know,
- 8:41uniter,
- 8:43and they're just dusting off that playbook and going the same way,
- 8:47um,
- 8:47but
- 8:48Trump is their white whale.
- 8:50Uh,
- 8:50they will never stop
- 8:52chasing him.
- 8:54He could come out tomorrow and say,
- 8:56hey,
- 8:57uh,
- 8:57I'm for abortion.
- 8:58I'm for,
- 8:59you know,
- 8:59let's just open the borders.
- 9:01It would not matter.
- 9:02They will never,
- 9:02ever stop.
- 9:04And
- 9:05to us down here in the sticks,
- 9:07um,
- 9:08you know,
- 9:08we,
- 9:09I know Glenn is very,
- 9:10very adamant about
- 9:13We have to find a solution.
- 9:15And I'm,
- 9:16I,
- 9:16I just turned 60,
- 9:17so Glenn and I are of the same age.
- 9:20And I have 7 grandkids that have to grow up in this world.
- 9:24And
- 9:25I keep
- 9:26saying,
- 9:27you know,
- 9:27it's going to get better,
- 9:28it's going to get better.
- 9:29We're going to find a way.
- 9:31But,
- 9:32uh,
- 9:33I'm not the smartest guy in the world,
- 9:34but I'm pretty smart.
- 9:36And I just don't see
- 9:40Uh,
- 9:40a way out,
- 9:41uh,
- 9:41you know,
- 9:42not a good way out anyway,
- 9:44and I don't want that.
- 9:46I mean,
- 9:46I mean,
- 9:46you know,
- 9:46I served my country.
- 9:48Uh,
- 9:48I spent
- 9:4910 years in the,
- 9:49in the army.
- 9:50I spent 20 years as a sheriff's deputy,
- 9:52and
- 9:53I know what it's like
- 9:55to see.
- 9:57The bad side of people.
- 9:58And I've always tried to be that person that sees the good in things.
- 10:01But these people have no good in them.
- 10:03They have one
- 10:05word in their brain,
- 10:06and it's power.
- 10:07At any choice or at any price,
- 10:09they will lie,
- 10:10cheat,
- 10:11steal.
- 10:11I think we all know that.
- 10:13And
- 10:15You know,
- 10:15uh,
- 10:16like Georgia,
- 10:17for example.
- 10:18You know,
- 10:19everybody thinks Georgia is Atlanta.
- 10:22Uh,
- 10:23we're not.
- 10:24There's a lot of Georgia.
- 10:24Georgia is the biggest state east of the Mississippi River.
- 10:27Um,
- 10:29There's more to Georgia than the,
- 10:30the,
- 10:31the flipping airport,
- 10:32and
- 10:34you know,
- 10:35you know,
- 10:35we,
- 10:35we down here,
- 10:36you know,
- 10:37when,
- 10:37when I say I'm from Columbus,
- 10:39people go,
- 10:40oh,
- 10:40Ohio.
- 10:41I'm like,
- 10:41no,
- 10:42not Ohio,
- 10:44and
- 10:45I guess my point being is that if
- 10:47And,
- 10:47and I talked to the local folks here,
- 10:49uh,
- 10:50uh,
- 10:50uh,
- 10:50in Trump's campaign about,
- 10:52you know,
- 10:52we may not win
- 10:54Atlanta,
- 10:55the,
- 10:55the counties of Atlanta,
- 10:56but we damn sure need to win every other county in the state.
- 11:00My county is notoriously
- 11:02blue
- 11:03all the time
- 11:04and
- 11:05every county around us is red because
- 11:08the way that the,
- 11:09the congressional districts line up,
- 11:11but
- 11:13I think we are truly at that.
- 11:16tipping point
- 11:17of where,
- 11:18you know,
- 11:19it either goes the way we want it to,
- 11:20and,
- 11:21and regardless,
- 11:21Trump could win
- 11:23with 320
- 11:24electoral votes,
- 11:25and we all know what's going to happen.
- 11:28And
- 11:29I don't want it to happen,
- 11:30but I,
- 11:31I like to say I'm a realist.
- 11:33Um,
- 11:34And you know,
- 11:35Glenn is a great guy.
- 11:36I've,
- 11:37I've followed him for years,
- 11:39read probably every one of his books.
- 11:41I'll be honest,
- 11:42he kinda,
- 11:42he,
- 11:43he kinda,
- 11:43uh,
- 11:44back then when
- 11:45Project or,
- 11:46uh,
- 11:46was it,
- 11:46uh,
- 11:47it's OK.
- 11:48He's not listening.
- 11:48You can say bad things about him,
- 11:49it's fine.
- 11:51Project 21,
- 11:54you know,
- 11:54oh,
- 11:54Agenda 21,
- 11:55yeah,
- 11:55uh-huh,
- 11:56yeah,
- 11:56I was like,
- 11:57is he,
- 11:58is he on drugs?
- 12:00Well,
- 12:00yes,
- 12:00but he's also right on a lot of that stuff.
- 12:03Here we are
- 12:04and uh I'm like wow
- 12:07but you know I,
- 12:08I have to,
- 12:08I mean,
- 12:09we have to think of the world we leave.
- 12:12Yes,
- 12:12I,
- 12:13I agree.
- 12:13And look,
- 12:13you know,
- 12:14you mentioned your grandchildren.
- 12:15Of course,
- 12:15you,
- 12:15you want to grow up in a place where your grandchildren can thrive
- 12:19and,
- 12:19and live in the sort of,
- 12:21in the sort of,
- 12:21uh,
- 12:22land of blessings that we've been able to grow up in.
- 12:25And that's,
- 12:25of course,
- 12:26a priority.
- 12:26I will say,
- 12:27and you mentioned like what goes on in 2020 and Trump,
- 12:29maybe he wins with a 320 electoral votes,
- 12:31but we know what's gonna happen.
- 12:33Uh,
- 12:33you know,
- 12:33look,
- 12:34those,
- 12:34these are always concerns.
- 12:36The Democrats,
- 12:36of course,
- 12:37will do everything in their power to try
- 12:38to come up with whatever shenanigan they can.
- 12:41It is important I think to understand and to think about it,
- 12:44even if you fully believe some election's going to be stolen,
- 12:48if you,
- 12:49if we go into it with those thoughts,
- 12:53we will surely lose.
- 12:54Because
- 12:55you need to,
- 12:58to win an election like this,
- 12:59that they're pulling out every single stop up to and including
- 13:04going through essentially a coup to up to overturn their own primary.
- 13:09If they will go to those lengths,
- 13:11they'll go to whatever lengths they can.
- 13:13But if we don't look at this as an opportunity to win,
- 13:16if we look at this as a,
- 13:18as a guaranteed loss because of whatever shenanigans we think might happen.
- 13:23We'll surely lose.
- 13:24We have to go into this whether no matter what you
- 13:26believe is going to happen once those ballots are cast,
- 13:28you have to go into this believing
- 13:30that this is still a country
- 13:33that has
- 13:34reliable forms of democracy inside a constitutional republic.
- 13:38If you look at it any other way,
- 13:39I,
- 13:40I,
- 13:40I,
- 13:40you know,
- 13:42I believe that you kind of have no chance.
- 13:45So,
- 13:46You know,
- 13:47suspend disbelief if you need to,
- 13:50but
- 13:51look at this election as an opportunity
- 13:53to turn back a lot of the policies that could really hurt
- 13:56the country and hurt the country for your grandchildren going forward.
- 13:59Uh,
- 13:59Linda in Florida,
- 14:01welcome.
- 14:01I appreciate it,
- 14:02uh,
- 14:02you calling in,
- 14:03Linda,
- 14:03and thanks so much for waiting.
- 14:05That's OK.
- 14:05Um,
- 14:06I've been kind of struggling with
- 14:09the same issue that,
- 14:10uh,
- 14:10Glenn
- 14:11and you brought up earlier today about how do we shame the press
- 14:15into doing their job.
- 14:17I mean,
- 14:17how are we so many days into this and,
- 14:20and we know nothing about,
- 14:22uh,
- 14:22Kamala's
- 14:23policies except she's talking about raising taxes,
- 14:26which would be
- 14:27outrageous,
- 14:28the things that she's thinking about,
- 14:30and I'm,
- 14:31I'm a retired business owner.
- 14:34I owned a
- 14:35company that's all world,
- 14:37world-class salespeople,
- 14:38so I constantly think in terms of how do you sell an idea
- 14:42and so forth.
- 14:43And for weeks now I've been thinking about
- 14:46that Trump
- 14:47should try using
- 14:49the term rope a dope,
- 14:50that the press is allowing Kamala to play rope a dope,
- 14:54which is what,
- 14:56is what Muhammad Ali.
- 14:57Did if,
- 14:58if you're old enough
- 14:59to remember the I'll rephrazier fights and so forth,
- 15:03and
- 15:04I think it would give one of the things
- 15:06that Trump has to worry about is anything he says
- 15:09negative about Kalan.
- 15:11I mean,
- 15:11there's so many things to pick from,
- 15:13but anything he says often can make it look like he's
- 15:16the big guy beating up on the woman and so forth,
- 15:19and they just think of it as misogyny
- 15:22all the time.
- 15:23But Actually,
- 15:24if,
- 15:24if we start
- 15:25coining the phrase
- 15:27that the press is allowing and,
- 15:29and her,
- 15:29her,
- 15:30her staff and so forth
- 15:31is allowing her to play rope a dope,
- 15:34it,
- 15:34it has so many connotations.
- 15:36First of all,
- 15:37everybody understands
- 15:38what it means,
- 15:39you know,
- 15:39you've got your hands up so that they can't,
- 15:42can't hit you with anything.
- 15:43And then when they're not looking,
- 15:45you know,
- 15:45you can take one shot at them.
- 15:46But the,
- 15:47but the term dope
- 15:49is nice.
- 15:50in there because you don't have to say she's an idiot.
- 15:53You say she's playing rope a dope,
- 15:54and
- 15:55even if the people don't understand the term,
- 15:57it almost paints her with that,
- 15:59with that term.
- 16:00So I think if we can get Trump talking about rope a dope and,
- 16:04and when I heard that you were looking today for how can we,
- 16:07how can we shame the press,
- 16:09I thought,
- 16:10what a perfect,
- 16:11what a perfect way to categorize
- 16:13what rope a dope is really talking about and Only applies to her,
- 16:17but it especially applies to the press
- 16:19that they're,
- 16:19they're not doing their job,
- 16:21and we're only 80 days away or so.
- 16:23And,
- 16:24and the other thing I had in my mind today was I,
- 16:26I live in the villages,
- 16:27um,
- 16:28and,
- 16:28um,
- 16:29we get a daily paper here.
- 16:30We have our own TV station,
- 16:32radio stations,
- 16:33all this stuff.
- 16:33It's a big place,
- 16:35150,000 people,
- 16:36but,
- 16:37oh yeah,
- 16:37it's huge,
- 16:38and,
- 16:39uh,
- 16:39anyway,
- 16:40I'm looking at the Daily Sun this morning,
- 16:41and of course.
- 16:42I didn't listen to
- 16:43her speech.
- 16:44I already knew what it was going to be about.
- 16:47And,
- 16:48uh,
- 16:48but the headline in the paper
- 16:50of the Daily Sun in the Villages today said the FBI,
- 16:54US faces many threats all at once.
- 16:58And,
- 16:58and I'm thinking,
- 17:00in fact,
- 17:00another thing they said is
- 17:02there was a Taiwanese official
- 17:04that
- 17:05made kind of a
- 17:07clandestine trip.
- 17:09To the,
- 17:09to the US,
- 17:10I think this week.
- 17:11So obviously she wasn't in Washington
- 17:13to hold any meetings.
- 17:15And,
- 17:15and you're thinking about
- 17:18if we're facing all these threats that we're all aware of,
- 17:21um,
- 17:22would we want her in the meeting room with any of these?
- 17:25I mean,
- 17:25what could she possibly
- 17:27add
- 17:28to it?
- 17:28And I mean she has nothing presidential
- 17:31about her.
- 17:32And then of course the next headline is Harris
- 17:34invites voters to chart a new way forward.
- 17:37And I think that goes right back to our rope a dope.
- 17:40Nobody knows what that is.
- 17:41Yeah,
- 17:41I like it.
- 17:42Uh,
- 17:42Linda,
- 17:42thanks so much.
- 17:43Uh,
- 17:44and honestly,
- 17:44I feel like now I'm a subscriber to that newspaper.
- 17:47Like I felt like I read the entire thing.
- 17:49Um,
- 17:49that's awesome,
- 17:50Linda.
- 17:50And I think like I like the innovative thoughts.
- 17:52I like,
- 17:52you know,
- 17:53trying to figure out a way to,
- 17:54to make this happen.
- 17:56Uh,
- 17:56and
- 17:57it is,
- 17:58you know,
- 17:59partially,
- 18:00we can help with this one,
- 18:01right?
- 18:01If you are online and you are
- 18:04retweeting,
- 18:05uh,
- 18:06you know,
- 18:06these claims against Kamala Harris,
- 18:09when you,
- 18:09when you find a good policy,
- 18:11something that you want answered,
- 18:13pushing that stuff out,
- 18:14I mean,
- 18:14the media
- 18:15does tend to eventually react to something that goes really viral.
- 18:19They feel almost like shamed into,
- 18:21all right,
- 18:21let's just get it out of the way,
- 18:23we'll ask and
- 18:24Anytime you can put Kamala Harris in a situation where she's off balance,
- 18:28this is where she makes her mistakes.
- 18:30Uh,
- 18:30this is something,
- 18:30and I,
- 18:31let me give you another quick sports analogy,
- 18:33um,
- 18:34off of the rope a dope idea.
- 18:35But,
- 18:37you know,
- 18:37I,
- 18:37I think a lot of people going into this,
- 18:39and I tried to,
- 18:40to say this on the air a zillion times,
- 18:43a lot of people went into this election and when Kamala Harris
- 18:46took over
- 18:47thinking that she sucks,
- 18:48she's just terrible.
- 18:49And look,
- 18:50she's not great.
- 18:51She's not amazing.
- 18:52But in comparison to Joe Biden,
- 18:54I mean there is no comparison,
- 18:55she's much,
- 18:56much better than Joe Biden.
- 18:59She can do
- 19:00the basics.
- 19:01And I think a lot of people went into this just thinking,
- 19:03to use a basketball reference that she's just terrible at basketball.
- 19:05She can't make a shot to save her life.
- 19:07That's not really true.
- 19:08The media is trying to make her into Steph Curry right now.
- 19:11That's not true either.
- 19:13She,
- 19:14she really is more Seth Curry than Steph Curry.
- 19:17Seth Curry is Steph Curry's brother.
- 19:19He's also an NBA player.
- 19:21And I,
- 19:21you know,
- 19:21he's an effective NBA player in certain circumstances.
- 19:25If you run an offense and you run,
- 19:27uh,
- 19:27Seth Curry off of a couple screens,
- 19:30you know,
- 19:30you think of the media,
- 19:31a couple of media screens,
- 19:33and you get,
- 19:34get her some open shots,
- 19:36she can make an open 3.
- 19:38She is a,
- 19:38she can do the basics.
- 19:41She,
- 19:41when
- 19:42inside of a scripted offense,
- 19:44is an effective player.
- 19:46That is who Kamala Harris is.
- 19:48She's very good behind the scenes.
- 19:50You saw the way she wrangled
- 19:52the presidential nomination in about 48 hours.
- 19:55She can do some stuff
- 19:57where she struggles,
- 19:59you know,
- 19:59Steph Curry can break down an offense by himself.
- 20:02Seth Curry doesn't really do that.
- 20:04Seth Curry is more like,
- 20:05she's gonna run off screens and gonna make some shots,
- 20:07and that's more like Kamala Harris.
- 20:09Inside the structure of an offense,
- 20:11she's actually effective.
- 20:12But once you take her off out,
- 20:14out of structure,
- 20:15when you take,
- 20:16put her in a position where she needs to break down a defense by,
- 20:19on,
- 20:19off the dribble,
- 20:20she's probably gonna turn it,
- 20:21turn it over.
- 20:22And it's up to you as a defense.
- 20:24This is the Trump,
- 20:25uh,
- 20:26campaign.
- 20:26This is Donald Trump itself.
- 20:27It's JD Vance,
- 20:28it's conservative media.
- 20:30It's you and I online.
- 20:32It's putting her into positions
- 20:35where she has to
- 20:38step out of the structure of that offense,
- 20:39where she has to beat somebody off the dribble.
- 20:42You know,
- 20:43I mean,
- 20:43it's moments like Joe the Plumber from back in the day with Barack Obama.
- 20:47Get her in those moments.
- 20:49We have to find a way to do that.
- 20:51It's up to us to do it.
- 20:52The media's not gonna do it for us.
- 20:54We have to force the media to try to do it out of shame
- 20:57or to figure out ways to do it ourselves
- 20:59because that's the way you're gonna beat Kamala Harris.
- 21:02Um,
- 21:02a couple more calls before we go.
- 21:04Lucy in Ohio.
- 21:05Lucy,
- 21:06thanks so much for waiting.
- 21:07I appreciate it.
- 21:08What's up?
- 21:09Hi,
- 21:09can you hear me OK,
- 21:10because you're on speaker.
- 21:11I have a lousy phone.
- 21:12Can you hear me?
- 21:13No worries,
- 21:13we can hear you.
- 21:14Yeah,
- 21:14go ahead.
- 21:15OK,
- 21:15I want to send
- 21:16a lot of Buckeye joy from Ohio,
- 21:19but,
- 21:19um,
- 21:20I,
- 21:20the,
- 21:20I was on for a little while and it was regarding the last show,
- 21:23but
- 21:25You know how the media likes to say that Kamala speaks in word salads.
- 21:30Feeling watching night,
- 21:32which I,
- 21:33I just was a screaming maniac,
- 21:35was a
- 21:36piece in concept salad.
- 21:39It's all,
- 21:40it's nothing concrete.
- 21:42It's all salady fluff.
- 21:44Yep.
- 21:45You know,
- 21:45my father,
- 21:46uh,
- 21:46these,
- 21:46these,
- 21:47her and Big Mike all say,
- 21:49my mother said,
- 21:50my father said,
- 21:51Joe Biden,
- 21:51my grandpa always said at the dinner table,
- 21:53this is,
- 21:54well,
- 21:54here's what my deceased beloved father,
- 21:57may he rest in peace,
- 21:58say.
- 21:59Politicians speak
- 22:01in nebulous realms of tangible abstractions.
- 22:05And,
- 22:05and that sticks with me from when I was a kid,
- 22:09and the older I get,
- 22:10the truer it is.
- 22:11This idea when she spoke last night
- 22:14about,
- 22:15you know,
- 22:15you know,
- 22:15I'm a small business owner.
- 22:17This.
- 22:17The idea that she wants to have opportunity economy.
- 22:21The whole thing
- 22:22is nonsense.
- 22:23It's communist speak
- 22:25for the government
- 22:26will pick the winners and the losers.
- 22:28And when it comes to small business,
- 22:30and,
- 22:31and,
- 22:31and they will give cheap government loans
- 22:33to the people that they,
- 22:34the government feels should get them.
- 22:36And when 75% of those businesses default or go out of business,
- 22:41they'll walk away,
- 22:42probably to a government job
- 22:44and we'll be left
- 22:45holding the bag of their failure.
- 22:47You know,
- 22:48I'm supposed to feel joyful that I'm gonna pay for their dream that I pay for
- 22:52in,
- 22:52in the long run.
- 22:54Yeah,
- 22:54uh,
- 22:54you know what,
- 22:54first of all,
- 22:55Lucy,
- 22:55you had a smart father.
- 22:56I mean,
- 22:56that's a great,
- 22:57that's,
- 22:57that's an intellectual dinner table talk,
- 22:59but it's completely right.
- 23:00And,
- 23:01you know,
- 23:01a great example of this is opportunity economy.
- 23:04Opportunity economy kind of sounds good,
- 23:06right?
- 23:06Like,
- 23:07it sounds like something a conservative would say.
- 23:09It's like,
- 23:09you know,
- 23:10Tim Scott,
- 23:11you did the opportunity zones with with Donald Trump.
- 23:13It's the type of thing that kind of sounds like that.
- 23:15Maybe that's part of that philosophy.
- 23:17It's something though that is designed to hide what the policy actually is,
- 23:22and uh this is what they're doing,
- 23:24this is their entire philosophy,
- 23:25and if
- 23:26the American people don't figure it out,
- 23:28it probably will be successful.
- 23:29Lucy,
- 23:30thanks so much
- 23:30for the call.
- 23:31Amy in Pennsylvania,
- 23:33Amy,
- 23:34welcome.
- 23:35Hello Steven,
- 23:36how are you?
- 23:36Good.
- 23:37How are you?
- 23:38I'm wonderful.
- 23:40Um,
- 23:40I just have a question
- 23:43real quick.
- 23:44Back in 2016,
- 23:45whenever Mr.
- 23:46Trump was first running,
- 23:48a lot of the,
- 23:50um,
- 23:51down ballot,
- 23:51down ticket,
- 23:52um,
- 23:53congressmen and senators
- 23:55were all,
- 23:55you know,
- 23:56give us all three branches,
- 23:57give us all,
- 23:58all three branches,
- 23:59you know,
- 23:59we'll,
- 23:59we'll,
- 24:00we will
- 24:01repeal
- 24:02Obamacare and we'll do all this fabulous.
- 24:05Things
- 24:06and
- 24:07nothing happened.
- 24:09I mean,
- 24:09they,
- 24:10nothing.
- 24:10Um,
- 24:11they didn't repeal Obamacare.
- 24:13Um,
- 24:14in fact,
- 24:14I don't even think they even voted to have a vote.
- 24:17And I know that's thanks to John McCain and
- 24:20the likes of Paul Ryan.
- 24:22Um,
- 24:22but
- 24:24All I,
- 24:24I hear a lot of,
- 24:26I think Mr.
- 24:26Beck has said this maybe once or twice,
- 24:28but I mean,
- 24:29I know
- 24:30Mr.
- 24:30Hannity and a lot of other commentators are like really pushing this,
- 24:34and I'm just,
- 24:35I'm just like,
- 24:37why
- 24:38is it,
- 24:38is it gonna be different this time,
- 24:39or,
- 24:40or why should we
- 24:41being politicians,
- 24:42like,
- 24:43I don't believe anything they say,
- 24:44even Mr.
- 24:45Trump.
- 24:45I mean
- 24:47that might be
- 24:48always have a healthy skepticism.
- 24:49That's the right way to approach it.
- 24:51But,
- 24:51um,
- 24:52so why should we give them all three branches again?
- 24:57Well,
- 24:57I mean,
- 24:57it's a good question and a fair question.
- 24:59I,
- 24:59I would say that,
- 25:00you know,
- 25:01first of all,
- 25:01the alternative is worse.
- 25:03So,
- 25:04I mean,
- 25:04I,
- 25:05I think that is
- 25:06true.
- 25:07Um,
- 25:08you know,
- 25:08the Republicans,
- 25:09and I was making this point a lot leading up to the 2022 election,
- 25:13the Republicans with a strong 2022 had a
- 25:15real chance at a filibuster-proof majority here,
- 25:19but they had,
- 25:20they did not do their job in 2022.
- 25:22And I honestly,
- 25:23I don't think it looks all that spectacular for
- 25:252024 in the Senate and down ballot either,
- 25:29which is,
- 25:30you know,
- 25:30kind of embarrassing.
- 25:31They're really the,
- 25:32the,
- 25:32the map is very much tilted their way here in the Senate election.
- 25:36If you can get to 60 votes,
- 25:37you can really make
- 25:39major differences.
- 25:40It's when the,
- 25:41you know,
- 25:42Democrats have been able to do a lot of their sort
- 25:44of large structural changes is when they get to that position.
- 25:47Republicans aren't going to get there.
- 25:49Um,
- 25:49what you can do is,
- 25:51uh,
- 25:51you can get judges in,
- 25:52and that was something that Trump was able to do and
- 25:54obviously made a pretty large difference in the Supreme Court,
- 25:58and honestly all the way down through the judicial system.
- 26:01That's a big part of why you really care about
- 26:04the Senate.
- 26:04You'll get some good things out of that.
- 26:06I will also say that one of the big things,
- 26:08and this has been a big push for me
- 26:10when it comes to primaries,
- 26:11is making sure where you have
- 26:15really red states
- 26:16in primary elections,
- 26:18making sure you get good candidates out of them.
- 26:20You don't need a Mitt Romney in freaking Utah.
- 26:23Like that is,
- 26:24it's,
- 26:25it hurts you more than having a Susan Collins in Maine.
- 26:28Yeah,
- 26:29Susan Collins is gonna vote wrong a bunch of times,
- 26:31but it's Maine,
- 26:32and maybe Susan Collins is the best you can do in Maine.
- 26:35Mitt Romney is not the best you can do in Utah.
- 26:37You know,
- 26:37Mike Lee might be,
- 26:39but Mitt Romney is not.
- 26:41And if we focus on those primary elections a little bit earlier,
- 26:45And get good candidates in those bright red states.
- 26:48When you get to 55,
- 26:4956,
- 26:5060 senators,
- 26:52you can get a lot more done.
- 26:53I think this happens in the House as well.
- 26:57And,
- 26:57you know,
- 26:58what happens,
- 26:59and it has happened a lot
- 27:00is
- 27:01we've chosen to run.
- 27:04candidates in states that aren't bright red,
- 27:07that wind up losing in the elections,
- 27:09and I think we're facing a lot of that again this year.
- 27:12So,
- 27:13there's a lot to improve there.
- 27:15I think
- 27:16the best thing you can say,
- 27:17and you could say this about the House right now.
- 27:20What they have been able to do is block the worst instincts
- 27:24of Joe Biden.
- 27:25That's it.
- 27:25That's all,
- 27:26that's all they've been able to do is just block the worst instincts.
- 27:29That is though,
- 27:30a big improvement over an unfettered Joe Biden
- 27:34or an unfettered Kamala Harris.
- 27:35So
- 27:36that is an advantage
- 27:38and,
- 27:38uh,
- 27:38Amy,
- 27:39thanks so much for the call.
- 27:40I wish I could give you more on that,
- 27:41it's not gonna be perfect.
- 27:43Even when you get 60 senators,
- 27:45about 12 of them are gonna be probably
- 27:47pretty horrible,
- 27:48and another 20 are gonna be mediocre,
- 27:50uh,
- 27:50if,
- 27:50if things are going well.
- 27:52But
- 27:53it is your only hope and you have to kind of push these things through.
- 27:56We have a system
- 27:57of checks and balances.
- 27:59It's one that I think is the best system ever developed,
- 28:02but it,
- 28:03it,
- 28:03it,
- 28:03they don't make it easy.
- 28:04That's the design of the system.
- 28:06It's not supposed to be easy.
- 28:07All right,
- 28:08we got a,
- 28:08uh,
- 28:08through,
- 28:09through a bunch of the calls and I appreciate everybody
- 28:11holding on and hanging out.
- 28:12Uh,
- 28:12thanks so much for subscribing here.
- 28:14Hopefully,
- 28:14you've done that on the Studios America feed.
- 28:17If you missed it,
- 28:18uh,
- 28:18you know,
- 28:19this a couple of days ago,
- 28:20was it yesterday or a couple of days ago,
- 28:21we released a state of the race episode
- 28:23about RFK.
- 28:24Junior and what the impact of that will be.
- 28:26We do a state of the race podcast,
- 28:28uh,
- 28:28right here on the Studios America feed to kind of break
- 28:31down the more nerdy aspects of the election if you,
- 28:33if you happen to really wanna do deep dives.
- 28:36So that is available on this feed as well with more episodes coming.
- 28:39Thanks so much for
- 28:40tuning in.
