Latest / Bleacher Report / Panthers Advance to Their 3rd Straight Stanley Cup Final _ NHL on TNT Postgame
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Only fitting that the clinching game of the series was
- 0:03Speaker 1: by far the best game of the series. So much
- 0:06Speaker 1: respect between these two clubs. But it's the Florida Panthers,
- 0:09Speaker 1: Sergey Lebroski and company headed to the Stanley Cup Final
- 0:14Speaker 1: for a third straight year. It's the NHL on TNT
- 0:17Speaker 1: postgame show presented by Vanda Pharmaceuticals. Nobody's touching that trophy.
- 0:23Speaker 1: They're playing for the Cup. We'll see who they take on.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Lee mceue, Paul Vizanette, the coach, Racconas Anson Carter, Henrik Lunquis.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Four teams, four franchises since nineteen eighty have gone to
- 0:36Speaker 1: back to back to back Stanley Cup Finals. You have
- 0:39Speaker 1: the Islanders and the Oilers who overlapped in the eighties.
- 0:42Speaker 1: You have Tampa Bay Lightning, and now you have this
- 0:45Speaker 1: Florida Panthers team. We're gonna talk about you kachukin just
- 0:48Speaker 1: a bit, but I'll start with you, Hank, your thoughts
- 0:49Speaker 1: on what we just saw.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Well, they've been the best team in the playoffs so far.
- 0:57Speaker 2: When you look at all the aspects of the game,
- 1:00Speaker 2: how physical they can play, how technical skilled they can play.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Everything is just at another level. And to me after
- 1:09Speaker 2: the game, that sums it up for me. There's not
- 1:12Speaker 2: a lot of celebration, there's not a lot of smiles.
- 1:15Speaker 2: It's just, okay, this was one more serious. We got
- 1:19Speaker 2: one more serious, closer to where we need to be,
- 1:23Speaker 2: almost like to have this feeling of where we should be.
- 1:26Speaker 3: They have that confidence.
- 1:27Speaker 2: They don't panic, they go behind, you know, to nothing
- 1:31Speaker 2: in this game. I thought it was a you know,
- 1:34Speaker 2: they didn't create much, but that penalty in the second
- 1:36Speaker 2: period kind of turned this game, if you ask me.
- 1:39Speaker 3: And but that's what they do.
- 1:41Speaker 2: They they give someone, give up something that they're there
- 1:46Speaker 2: to strike right away. They've been doing it all year long.
- 1:49Speaker 3: And especially in the playoffs. But impressive team, impressive effort and.
- 1:53Speaker 4: If you watch their big boys all over that stat sheet.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Bark Off for Hagey Ryan Hart, I thought it was
- 1:59Speaker 4: a great little swap. No coach, you could appreciate that
- 2:01Speaker 4: Rodriguez being swapped off of Verhegy late in the game
- 2:04Speaker 4: there and then bark Off making the nice play from
- 2:06Speaker 4: behind the net.
- 2:07Speaker 5: I mean his offensive ability.
- 2:10Speaker 4: He's so good defensively, I think offensively, I think he's
- 2:13Speaker 4: still very underrated offensively. The little plays that he makes
- 2:16Speaker 4: that that size, I mean, reminds me a little bit
- 2:18Speaker 4: of Mary Lemieux using that reach and that size. The
- 2:21Speaker 4: whole guy's off and then a nice little touch to
- 2:23Speaker 4: put the puck in the right place, like he didn't
- 2:25Speaker 4: pass it too hard, not too soft, and gives Verhage
- 2:28Speaker 4: just enough time to get from behind that goal line
- 2:30Speaker 4: and put the top shelf.
- 2:31Speaker 6: He's a franchise player, there's no question. And he leads
- 2:34Speaker 6: by example on the ice. He's probably a very quiet
- 2:36Speaker 6: individual just watching him on the bench and watching him
- 2:39Speaker 6: on the ice, but he leads by example. And he's
- 2:42Speaker 6: a big, strong, physical guy, and he is and he's
- 2:45Speaker 6: so hard to play against. Like that team is, You're
- 2:48Speaker 6: right to me, that was the better team. They deserve
- 2:51Speaker 6: to win the series. They find ways to win because
- 2:54Speaker 6: they win in different ways. They can grind it out.
- 2:56Speaker 3: They have the skill.
- 2:57Speaker 6: They scored the big power play goal tonight.
- 3:00Speaker 3: They know how to win.
- 3:00Speaker 6: They've got the goalie, they've got the size, and they're nasty,
- 3:04Speaker 6: right they are, And they know how to play and
- 3:06Speaker 6: they know how to raise their game at the right time,
- 3:08Speaker 6: which they did as soon as I got three to three.
- 3:10Speaker 6: They took that game to another level, and they did,
- 3:12Speaker 6: and so they deserve to win that Barkov is the
- 3:15Speaker 6: leader of all the things we just talked about.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Barkov is the leader without a doubt.
- 3:20Speaker 5: Yeah, Florida's just so good.
- 3:21Speaker 7: I mean, you know, Carolina didn't really have the luxury
- 3:23Speaker 7: to make any mistakes or unforced errors. We saw it
- 3:26Speaker 7: at the end of Game three, in that third period
- 3:28Speaker 7: and much like halfway through the second period, they had
- 3:31Speaker 7: full control, right and then they make that one little
- 3:34Speaker 7: mistake or maybe call it the ref getting the way
- 3:36Speaker 7: either way, and then all of a sudden, within a
- 3:38Speaker 7: four minute span, the game gets turned on a dime.
- 3:40Speaker 7: So that's just how Florida can kill you if you
- 3:42Speaker 7: make those unforced errors. And I actually thought tonight was
- 3:46Speaker 7: probably one of the better performances we seen from Carolina
- 3:49Speaker 7: all playoff long. It just so happens they're playing the
- 3:52Speaker 7: Florida Panthers and they'll make it pay.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Let's think a colt to look at what Barkov did
- 3:57Speaker 1: in this game, because Palm Ma Reice talks about how
- 4:00Speaker 1: he sets the tone, but it doesn't have to be
- 4:02Speaker 1: vocal about it. It's just every little detail about his
- 4:05Speaker 1: game and it starts that first goal.
- 4:07Speaker 7: Yeah, and it doesn't even have to be on the
- 4:09Speaker 7: score sheet. I mean that goal, that turnover he causes
- 4:11Speaker 7: on Martin, if he's the one pitching down, I mean
- 4:14Speaker 7: you're going to see it right here, like just an
- 4:15Speaker 7: incredible read to come down this wall and not really
- 4:18Speaker 7: give Martin an opportunity to clear that pocket and get
- 4:21Speaker 7: full control. And then all of a sudden they get
- 4:23Speaker 7: working from there, and let's talk about other ways he
- 4:25Speaker 7: can impact the game. Sixty two percent in the dot.
- 4:28Speaker 7: They were losing every face off, it felt like in
- 4:30Speaker 7: that first period, and then all of a sudden they
- 4:32Speaker 7: end up leaning on him and speaking a shorthanded as well.
- 4:34Speaker 7: Seven for nine in the dot in that situation. And
- 4:37Speaker 7: then this is just an incredible effort. Right here, he
- 4:39Speaker 7: beats Orlov, a big, strong defenseman. He ends up seeing
- 4:43Speaker 7: that Robinson gets sucked in and that really has a
- 4:46Speaker 7: stick in the wrong place, and as you talked about
- 4:49Speaker 7: him putting in this area, like.
- 4:50Speaker 5: This is just an incredible pass.
- 4:52Speaker 7: He doesn't have much time to get it done, but
- 4:54Speaker 7: he uses a perfect amount of speed to get it
- 4:55Speaker 7: to Verheggi.
- 4:56Speaker 5: He can just step into it and then it's a
- 4:58Speaker 5: roof job there.
- 4:59Speaker 4: Ye, I was going behind the net to Robinson and
- 5:01Speaker 4: he bites hard and you can have enough touch on
- 5:04Speaker 4: that that puck is right past Verhegey, so he gets
- 5:08Speaker 4: it hard enough so it gets past the netminder Freddy Anderson,
- 5:11Speaker 4: but enough velocity there so it gets to Verhegy with
- 5:13Speaker 4: enough time so Anderson can't get across to make that saves.
- 5:17Speaker 4: I always think about the conversation I have keith yandle
- 5:19Speaker 4: Yan's played in Florida, and I was like, Yan's like,
- 5:21Speaker 4: who are the top guys down there?
- 5:22Speaker 5: Barkie by Far? You know, Yan's joker.
- 5:25Speaker 4: You can never take them seriously half the time, while
- 5:27Speaker 4: but he was dead serious.
- 5:28Speaker 5: He's like Barkie by Far. It's he's so easy to
- 5:30Speaker 5: play with.
- 5:31Speaker 4: He makes everyone look way better than they really are
- 5:34Speaker 4: when you're playing with.
- 5:35Speaker 7: He has him as the second best player in the
- 5:36Speaker 7: league outside of McDavid, and he swears by it. And
- 5:39Speaker 7: I mean game in and game out, whether it's on
- 5:41Speaker 7: the score sheet or not. He affects the game in
- 5:43Speaker 7: positive ways and it's just remarkable to watch in most cases.
- 5:47Speaker 6: Yeah, but again, give Paul credit for making that switch,
- 5:50Speaker 6: putting ver Hagy up there, and those are the games
- 5:52Speaker 6: with the game, the adjustments that coaches have to make.
- 5:55Speaker 6: I like the adjustment Roddy made going into the game.
- 5:58Speaker 6: He went head to head with that Barkov. Now you've
- 6:01Speaker 6: got Ryan har and Bogab two guys up for this Elki.
- 6:03Speaker 6: Rarely do you want to see your best line going
- 6:06Speaker 6: head to head with them, But he had no fear
- 6:07Speaker 6: of doing it, and they scored the three goals for
- 6:09Speaker 6: Carolina tonight. So I like that matchup and I loved
- 6:12Speaker 6: what Paul did. So the game within the game, you
- 6:14Speaker 6: watch the adjustments, the matchups the coaches make. I always
- 6:17Speaker 6: look at that, and I thought both coaches were great tonight.
- 6:21Speaker 7: Going back to the winning goal by Berhgi though we talked,
- 6:24Speaker 7: you call it duplication where you have two guys doing
- 6:27Speaker 7: the same thing. You saw it on the one where
- 6:29Speaker 7: Martin Hook and Nikishan get sucked in ends up being
- 6:32Speaker 7: a three on one, And here you're going to look
- 6:34Speaker 7: at it again from a different angle where Robinson's down
- 6:36Speaker 7: row and right there like he doesn't need to go there.
- 6:39Speaker 7: The behind the net pass is not the threat out
- 6:42Speaker 7: in front of the net is Watch just right here,
- 6:43Speaker 7: you're going to see the other angle like there's no
- 6:45Speaker 7: need to worry about intercepting that pass. And when you
- 6:48Speaker 7: lean in like that and you reach from Robinson, all
- 6:50Speaker 7: of a sudden, all your momentum is going to take
- 6:52Speaker 7: you to the wall. And that's why Barkovs just able
- 6:54Speaker 7: to go to his backhand. All of a sudden, you
- 6:56Speaker 7: see four guys close in on him, and he's got
- 6:59Speaker 7: that perfect gap to slide that over on his backhand.
- 7:01Speaker 5: So it's tough though with man on man your dow Lowell.
- 7:04Speaker 5: Robinson's a winger.
- 7:05Speaker 7: All of a sudden, he's in a place where he's
- 7:07Speaker 7: not used to being and he makes one quick split
- 7:10Speaker 7: wrong decision and all of a sudden, that for a
- 7:12Speaker 7: fine who had an incredible game, ends up eating the minus.
- 7:14Speaker 6: If you're gonna have duplication, you better make sure you
- 7:17Speaker 6: end the play because somebody's got to be open. You
- 7:20Speaker 6: got two guys going to one guy. Somebody's got to
- 7:22Speaker 6: be open. And it's another example the basic fundamentals of
- 7:25Speaker 6: the game. Protect the NetFront, right, protect the net front,
- 7:28Speaker 6: protect the middle of the ice, and work everything out
- 7:30Speaker 6: from there.
- 7:30Speaker 7: And sometimes I feel like they get so focused on
- 7:33Speaker 7: closing and killing the play where it's like you should
- 7:35Speaker 7: be more concerned about protecting the middle of the ice,
- 7:37Speaker 7: where like I said, we saw two examples of it
- 7:39Speaker 7: tonight that bit him in the ass.
- 7:41Speaker 1: And for Hagey by the way, he scores basically Florida
- 7:45Speaker 1: wins in the playoffs twenty five and two in the
- 7:47Speaker 1: playoffs or for Hagey gets a goal, so you know,
- 7:50Speaker 1: like I mean, that'sul Be the player going Bote right,
- 7:52Speaker 1: just get for Hagey a goal.
- 7:53Speaker 7: It's just the next guy stepping up though every time
- 7:56Speaker 7: for hay and he'd been quiet certain right Tampa, you
- 7:59Speaker 7: don't even notice somebody. And even Kurchuk last yearies maybe
- 8:02Speaker 7: he was a little quiet. And then this series that
- 8:04Speaker 7: Bennett line, kud Chuck, they were so involved.
- 8:06Speaker 5: I felt like they were on the score shoot every game.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Well, it's why we talked about the idea that it's
- 8:10Speaker 1: almost difficult to pick a leader for com smythe from
- 8:13Speaker 1: this team. But if you had to, I think you
- 8:16Speaker 1: picked Lebrovski at this point, and Superman play the day.
- 8:19Speaker 1: It's many plays, it's all the plays and Lebroski what
- 8:23Speaker 1: I the fact is, under.
- 8:25Speaker 3: All this pressure hanging just the level of commonness yeah.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I think he sets this tone in his preparations. He
- 8:33Speaker 2: knows as well prepared. He has a lot of confidence
- 8:35Speaker 2: in his own game. But he also see him in
- 8:37Speaker 2: warm ups.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Everything is calm, you know that. That's the post she
- 8:42Speaker 3: wants to the game.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Nothing gets to him, and he was really good down
- 8:47Speaker 2: the stretcher. There was a lot of shots through screens,
- 8:50Speaker 2: and when you're calm, you tend to find those pucks
- 8:53Speaker 2: a lot easier than when you're you're you know, stressing
- 8:57Speaker 2: or too tight. But he looks very calm. Benny always
- 9:01Speaker 2: said my goalie coach for years, he said, you can't
- 9:04Speaker 2: play piano when your hands starts straight.
- 9:06Speaker 3: You need to be relaxed. What he said with the
- 9:08Speaker 3: French Act, he relaxed, Hanky when you play, and.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Bob looks relaxed when you But he's on his toes.
- 9:17Speaker 2: He's always a top of his toes with the gloves
- 9:20Speaker 2: attacking the park.
- 9:21Speaker 3: That's why he's so good and close.
- 9:24Speaker 2: It's hard for guys to beat his gloves because he's constantly.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Attacking and it's fun to watch.
- 9:30Speaker 2: But I think it starts with his mind, the calmness
- 9:32Speaker 2: he brings to his game, and that trickles down to
- 9:36Speaker 2: his team.
- 9:36Speaker 1: All right, let's go back to the ring right now,
- 9:38Speaker 1: bringing Matthew to Chuck. You had a headset on. Get
- 9:41Speaker 1: to listen to Henrik Glanquiz talk about goldending and piano
- 9:43Speaker 1: lessons from his goalie coach JOCKI listen, great game, fabulous series.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I want to go back to We showed video of
- 9:51Speaker 1: the last few years when Fritz Whales Trophy was up there,
- 9:55Speaker 1: and that first year, you guys are an eighty, you
- 9:57Speaker 1: barely make it into the playoffs, you go on an
- 9:58Speaker 1: incredible run, we grabbed the trophy. Everyone celebrates last year.
- 10:02Speaker 1: It was clear cut that wasn't happening this year. It
- 10:05Speaker 1: felt like you guys were just obligated to take a picture.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I'm just I'm wondering what goes through your head because
- 10:11Speaker 1: it feels like this was just a step.
- 10:15Speaker 8: Yeah, you said it right there. I think to my
- 10:19Speaker 8: first year here it was. It was a big accomplishment,
- 10:22Speaker 8: coming from where we were at the end of the
- 10:24Speaker 8: regular season and then barely squeaking in and then just
- 10:29Speaker 8: three crazy rounds on the way to winning it. Like
- 10:31Speaker 8: it was a huge accomplishment for us. Last year was
- 10:35Speaker 8: part of the journey and this year it is as well.
- 10:38Speaker 8: And it's just kind of just all business for us,
- 10:40Speaker 8: like we were here for one reason. You know, it's
- 10:43Speaker 8: a you know, obviously we're very happy with being able
- 10:45Speaker 8: to win it, and being able to win tonight in
- 10:47Speaker 8: this game, in the series, especially the way it started tonight,
- 10:50Speaker 8: But all business right now for us, and you know,
- 10:53Speaker 8: we know, we know what, we know what we're capable of,
- 10:58Speaker 8: and we're not going to celebrate until we can.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Chucky, congratulations and face.
- 11:02Speaker 5: I know it's all business.
- 11:03Speaker 4: You're focused on getting through the Stanley Cup Final. I
- 11:07Speaker 4: know your hockey junkins is kind of curious. Have you
- 11:09Speaker 4: been keeping tabs at all in the Western Conference Final
- 11:11Speaker 4: between Dallas and Edmonton.
- 11:13Speaker 8: Yeah, I think our whole teams has watched pretty much
- 11:16Speaker 8: every night. I know them we're on the road, spend
- 11:19Speaker 8: a lot of time in our hotel lounge, so I'll
- 11:20Speaker 8: watch the first few periods there, play some pool, play
- 11:25Speaker 8: some poker, and then and then everybody's pretty much in
- 11:28Speaker 8: their own rooms for the for the third period, and
- 11:30Speaker 8: but yeah, we're watching the game. It's been Uh, it's
- 11:32Speaker 8: been a good series to watch as well. The best
- 11:34Speaker 8: part about being down to the final four is your
- 11:37Speaker 8: game's on one night, there on the other night, and
- 11:39Speaker 8: you just get to always either be playing or watching hockey.
- 11:42Speaker 8: So but we're not in the Final four anymore. We're
- 11:45Speaker 8: in the final two and we're very happy to be there.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Chuck your hand care Congrats, I'm reaching your thurstraight final.
- 11:51Speaker 3: It's incredible.
- 11:53Speaker 2: I mean we've been talking about your team just every
- 11:57Speaker 2: aspect of the game you master, but I want to
- 12:00Speaker 2: talk about how.
- 12:01Speaker 3: Close you are.
- 12:02Speaker 2: You constantly talk about you feel like a family in
- 12:05Speaker 2: that locker room, the importance so that, and you play
- 12:08Speaker 2: for a lot of different teams, how would you rate
- 12:10Speaker 2: this group in terms of how tight you are and
- 12:12Speaker 2: how much work you put into just becoming that family.
- 12:16Speaker 8: Yeah, it's right up there. It's I mean this year
- 12:19Speaker 8: and last year that it's been really nothing like it.
- 12:21Speaker 8: And you know, I think what we're most proud of
- 12:25Speaker 8: this year too is you know, we're able to be
- 12:29Speaker 8: back in the dance and we have a chance to
- 12:31Speaker 8: do something that very few teams and NHL history have done.
- 12:35Speaker 8: And you know, at this point, you know what it
- 12:37Speaker 8: takes to win, and you want the guys that are new,
- 12:39Speaker 8: that have it one before to feel that as well.
- 12:41Speaker 8: That's what you know. Our excitement comes from right now
- 12:43Speaker 8: and you become a family this year, new teams. You know,
- 12:46Speaker 8: we wouldn't be in this position without the new guys
- 12:48Speaker 8: that we had this year. If we would have ran
- 12:50Speaker 8: back the same team as last year, we wouldn't be
- 12:51Speaker 8: in this position right now. So I'm a firm believer
- 12:53Speaker 8: in each year. You know, you have your core pieces,
- 12:55Speaker 8: but the additions that you make it it has helped
- 12:59Speaker 8: put us over the top the point to this point
- 13:00Speaker 8: so far, and really just want to win it for
- 13:03Speaker 8: those guys, especially.
- 13:04Speaker 7: Chucky biz Here. I felt like in the first three
- 13:07Speaker 7: games of this syeries, you guys really took control, But
- 13:09Speaker 7: I also felt like Carolina looked like a different team
- 13:12Speaker 7: in games four and five. I felt like they had
- 13:14Speaker 7: full control of today's game up until halfway through that
- 13:17Speaker 7: second period. How do you guys have the ability to
- 13:20Speaker 7: all of a sudden turn these games on a dime
- 13:23Speaker 7: and all of a sudden take control.
- 13:24Speaker 5: I mean, even going back to last.
- 13:26Speaker 7: Round against the Leafs, you guys are down three to
- 13:28Speaker 7: one oh two in that series and all of a
- 13:30Speaker 7: sudden something just clicks.
- 13:33Speaker 8: I think we did not play very good in the
- 13:35Speaker 8: first period, but it wasn't as bad as as it
- 13:39Speaker 8: probably looked. The crowd is pretty loud here, and you know,
- 13:43Speaker 8: anytime they touch the puck and cross the zone, they're
- 13:45Speaker 8: they're going crazy. So I might think it might look
- 13:48Speaker 8: like they're dominating by us, but they really weren't. And
- 13:50Speaker 8: you know, all it takes is one. I think in
- 13:52Speaker 8: the second you get feeling good, the building gets a
- 13:54Speaker 8: little quieter. They look a little nervous, you know, after
- 13:58Speaker 8: that one goes in. We were able to score right away.
- 13:59Speaker 8: So it's a new game too too. So I don't know,
- 14:03Speaker 8: like they played really well the last two games, especially
- 14:05Speaker 8: in Game four, like they were really hard to play against,
- 14:08Speaker 8: did not give us anything, made us earn every single
- 14:12Speaker 8: inch of the ice, and we did not get much
- 14:14Speaker 8: that game. So got a credit to them the last
- 14:17Speaker 8: you know, two games, playing really well. But I don't know.
- 14:21Speaker 8: Our team's just our team's just solid and it just
- 14:24Speaker 8: sometimes when it's not going our way, just get back
- 14:26Speaker 8: to the basics and the simpler we play, the more
- 14:28Speaker 8: success we have.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Matthea.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Once you get back to your teammates and celebrate, but
- 14:32Speaker 1: before you go, I do have to ask you when
- 14:33Speaker 1: you're playing pool and poker with the guys. Who's taking
- 14:36Speaker 1: everybody's money? Like, who's the shark, who's the hustler.
- 14:40Speaker 8: I only played poker on the plane because I'm not
- 14:42Speaker 8: a very reliable guy at the hotel. I might tip early.
- 14:46Speaker 8: I like I play with four Z. I help him
- 14:48Speaker 8: out a little bit. There's a lot of table talk,
- 14:50Speaker 8: which I'm sure a lot of poker games we're not like.
- 14:53Speaker 8: We definitely play the Florida Panthers style the poker table,
- 14:57Speaker 8: a lot of a lot of uh smack talk, a
- 15:02Speaker 8: lot of looking at you know, people's cards after they folds.
- 15:05Speaker 8: It's a shady game. So I've been playing pool with
- 15:08Speaker 8: a couple of the guys. So uh this uh, this trip,
- 15:11Speaker 8: and it's been it's been a lot of fun. That's
- 15:14Speaker 8: the highlight of it all. You know, like out there winning, competing,
- 15:16Speaker 8: there's nothing like it. But you know when the season
- 15:19Speaker 8: is over and and you're in the summer and you're
- 15:21Speaker 8: you're grinding away, it's the times that you miss here,
- 15:24Speaker 8: you know, the team dinners, hanging out in the lounge
- 15:26Speaker 8: and and just being around the boys, you know, shooting it.
- 15:28Speaker 8: So that's taking full advantage of it.
- 15:31Speaker 5: Right now.
- 15:31Speaker 1: All right, we'll get back to them. Congratulations, thanks for
- 15:33Speaker 1: what you're doing.
- 15:34Speaker 5: Thank you, congrats.
- 15:37Speaker 1: I mean, would it be any other way for the
- 15:40Speaker 1: Florida Panthers, of course, like smack talk, shady pokery.
- 15:45Speaker 7: You guys used to blue light your teammates though, you know,
- 15:47Speaker 7: if your six seven hundred, you lower it down to
- 15:50Speaker 7: three hundred, take care of.
- 15:51Speaker 5: The boys, or because you've never a poker guy, never,
- 15:53Speaker 5: not at all.
- 15:55Speaker 3: I was a movie, it happens.
- 15:57Speaker 7: Yeah, I was joeven Oski and Shane doing and all
- 16:02Speaker 7: those I thought we were playing goldfish and then they're like, oh,
- 16:05Speaker 7: let's just seven up, seven down this, give me your
- 16:07Speaker 7: prettyemn pack and beata back to the front.
- 16:09Speaker 1: All of a sudden you're working as their butler.
- 16:11Speaker 7: Yeah, exactly, I'm the one dropping off the file at exactly.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Man, that's that's fantastic. And you know, bo just last
- 16:21Speaker 1: word on this, Uh, Paul Maurice, we've talked about, you
- 16:27Speaker 1: know him being obviously the voice and uh, you know,
- 16:31Speaker 1: pushing the right buttons at the right time, but the
- 16:34Speaker 1: ability to have a tone for a team, but have
- 16:37Speaker 1: individuals on that team and to allow for that and
- 16:40Speaker 1: to encourage it. It's something special.
- 16:43Speaker 6: Yeah, I think it starts with a great relationship between
- 16:46Speaker 6: Bill Ziito and Paul. They he goes get players that
- 16:49Speaker 6: Paul played Paul style, so they automatically fit into the team.
- 16:54Speaker 6: And when you fit into the team style wise, you
- 16:56Speaker 6: fit into the team with.
- 16:57Speaker 5: The character of the team.
- 16:59Speaker 6: And Paul enough, he's been around long enough, he's coached
- 17:02Speaker 6: that team long enough. He believes in the leadership. Let
- 17:05Speaker 6: them be themselves, Like sometimes the worst thing we can
- 17:08Speaker 6: do is get in their way. Really, sometimes you got
- 17:10Speaker 6: to know when just to back off, let the guys
- 17:12Speaker 6: have it's a game, let them have fun, let them
- 17:15Speaker 6: let them do their thing, let them go after each
- 17:17Speaker 6: other like they did in the poker games and that.
- 17:19Speaker 3: But Paul has a great feel for that.
- 17:20Speaker 6: But again, I think it starts with Bill and Paul
- 17:24Speaker 6: working so closely together and bringing the right guys in.
- 17:27Speaker 5: Right.
- 17:27Speaker 6: So I go back to Seth Jones, like he struggled
- 17:30Speaker 6: a big time in Chicago. I didn't think he was
- 17:33Speaker 6: just good a player. I mean I knew he was
- 17:34Speaker 6: a good player. He's an elite player the way he's
- 17:37Speaker 6: playing there, So he's the perfect fit for the way
- 17:40Speaker 6: Paul wants this team to play and for the way
- 17:42Speaker 6: he just blended immediately into that team and he became
- 17:45Speaker 6: a much better player. So it's fun to play with
- 17:48Speaker 6: great players, but they have to the GM the coach
- 17:51Speaker 6: have to work together to identify those great players and
- 17:54Speaker 6: this is what we need and the GM goes to
- 17:56Speaker 6: get them. So good on the management, good on the coaches,
- 17:59Speaker 6: and good on the Florida Panthers. Congrats to them.
- 18:02Speaker 1: A great team with two of the greatest deadline pickups
- 18:06Speaker 1: Seth Jones, Brad Marshan and now headed back to the
- 18:09Speaker 1: Stanley Cup Final. Will be at the final
