- 0:09Speaker 1: I'll go to the Favorite's presented by DraftKings. The crown
- 0:12Speaker 1: is yours. We are an Action Network podcast. I'm Brandon Kravitz,
- 0:17Speaker 1: your host. Back at it with the first lady of
- 0:19Speaker 1: the pod, Kendram Middleton Stuck. He'll be back on later
- 0:22Speaker 1: in the week. Next week, he's on baby duty right now.
- 0:25Speaker 1: We all understand it gets tough. It's a new kid.
- 0:28Speaker 2: We had, oh fresh one, a fresh child. Gotta take
- 0:33Speaker 2: care of your fresh children. We support that.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Here on the Favorites, we're talking running backs today and
- 0:39Speaker 1: some of the top stories in the NFL with Emery
- 0:41Speaker 1: Hunt from CBS Sports. Looking forward to that US Open
- 0:45Speaker 1: preview pod found in the archives. So if you still
- 0:47Speaker 1: don't know who to bet on, I gonna have to
- 0:49Speaker 1: hit it up in the live market now.
- 0:51Speaker 2: But Kyle Murray gave us some really good stuff to
- 0:53Speaker 2: chew on there, Kendra.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Between Team USA going for Game two and group play
- 0:58Speaker 1: on Friday, the United States Open going on right now.
- 1:03Speaker 2: In golf, I feel like a bald fucking eagle. I mean,
- 1:07Speaker 2: I just feel full blown pace, definitely double down on
- 1:14Speaker 2: the bold.
- 1:15Speaker 1: It's like there's there's this, uh, there's this wave of
- 1:21Speaker 1: international you.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Just were talking about the World Cup and saying you were.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I was talking about the other countries, not our country.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Okay, I'm just having a hard time getting into it.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I'm having a hard time catching the fever for just
- 1:37Speaker 1: sitting down and obsessing over Ghana.
- 1:42Speaker 2: That's just that's where I'm at.
- 1:44Speaker 1: But yeah, when Team USA is on, let's go, let's
- 1:47Speaker 1: put the let's put the flags over our shoulders and
- 1:50Speaker 1: drink a Bloodweiser, double down, triple down on the bold,
- 1:55Speaker 1: let's go all in. We gotta we gotta beat those
- 1:57Speaker 1: Australia mates. Okay, so Friday big. But I've noticed this
- 2:02Speaker 1: with the international events that seem to be more popular
- 2:06Speaker 1: than ever. The World Cup's always been huge, so I
- 2:09Speaker 1: probably put that to the side. But the Four Nations
- 2:12Speaker 1: event blew up. Even the NBA All Star Game people
- 2:16Speaker 1: liked for the first time ever when they had an
- 2:18Speaker 1: international flare to it.
- 2:20Speaker 2: The winner Olympics were huge.
- 2:22Speaker 1: It just seems like there's like all these numbers are popping,
- 2:25Speaker 1: even the if you do want to rope in the
- 2:27Speaker 1: World Cup fifteen point nine million viewers on average for
- 2:32Speaker 1: the first USA game. That was the most watched World
- 2:34Speaker 1: Cup game ever for the US.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Men's team. So I don't know what it is, Kendro,
- 2:38Speaker 2: but people love their country.
- 2:40Speaker 4: I mean, it should be the most watched event. We
- 2:42Speaker 4: have the best team we've ever had, we have the
- 2:44Speaker 4: you know, I.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Guess you could say that we have stars.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Finally, I know that I'm a little bit concerned about politics,
- 2:51Speaker 4: calf injury and that turning into another Achilles nightmare, just
- 2:54Speaker 4: because that seems to be the flavor of the month
- 2:56Speaker 4: right now in sports unfortunately. So I'm a little bit
- 2:59Speaker 4: concern that I hope if they get off to a
- 3:01Speaker 4: great start they take him off again, continue to rest him,
- 3:04Speaker 4: or Honestly, I'm in the camp that if he doesn't
- 3:07Speaker 4: want to go tomorrow or can't go tomorrow, sit him.
- 3:10Speaker 4: We as a country and them as a team should
- 3:13Speaker 4: not need Christian Polisic to beat Australia tomorrow. I would
- 3:18Speaker 4: like to be respectful and say you should respect all
- 3:19Speaker 4: of your opponents and throw your best team out there
- 3:21Speaker 4: for a World Cup. However, if it is a situation
- 3:24Speaker 4: where he shouldn't go, can't go, whatever, sit him. We've
- 3:28Speaker 4: got further things down the line that are more important.
- 3:30Speaker 4: And if you can't beat Australia without Christian polistic. You
- 3:33Speaker 4: should not be advancing in this tournament. So that's where
- 3:36Speaker 4: I'm at with it. I'm very entertained. I've had so
- 3:39Speaker 4: much fun. I have watched every single game except for
- 3:41Speaker 4: the midnight kickoff. I fell asleep at halftime the other night.
- 3:43Speaker 4: I am I don't know if Gifford's gonna kill me
- 3:46Speaker 4: or if we're gonna have to like bleep it out
- 3:47Speaker 4: if I say, I'm both deep in this tournament.
- 3:49Speaker 3: But I am happy Pride Month here we are. I'm
- 3:53Speaker 3: having a great time.
- 3:55Speaker 4: I feel like a crazy sense of the passion for
- 3:58Speaker 4: my country that you're talking about that I haven't felt
- 4:01Speaker 4: in a very long time. I was out until two
- 4:04Speaker 4: thirty in the morning last night watching people barefoot race
- 4:07Speaker 4: each other in the streets of downtown Boston.
- 4:10Speaker 2: So and you're in the epicenter of it.
- 4:11Speaker 1: You've got not only is Boston one of the most
- 4:14Speaker 1: patriotic cities in general because of its history, but you
- 4:18Speaker 1: guys are also hosting World Cup games.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Last night, the bars were at capacity and the lines
- 4:25Speaker 4: were all an hour to get in downtown, and the
- 4:29Speaker 4: party in the street was more lit than the party
- 4:31Speaker 4: and the bars. Everybody came out the bagpipes were going,
- 4:34Speaker 4: the flags, people standing.
- 4:35Speaker 3: On cars, the kravits.
- 4:38Speaker 4: There were flares being lit because the Europeans have discovered
- 4:42Speaker 4: that you can buy fireworks on the side of the
- 4:44Speaker 4: road here.
- 4:46Speaker 3: I'm not kidding.
- 4:46Speaker 4: They were lighting flares in the street for an hour
- 4:50Speaker 4: because the Europeans have discovered fucking fireworks here.
- 4:54Speaker 1: The fireworks thing, I'm trying to figure out if I
- 4:56Speaker 1: could build a bunker. I live in the state of Florida,
- 4:58Speaker 1: where they sell fireworks everywhere. They literally sell them outside
- 5:02Speaker 1: of gas stations. I wish that was a joke.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Yeah, It's the two hundred and fiftieth birthday of our country,
- 5:09Speaker 1: so it's good about to get wild. I do like
- 5:11Speaker 1: the fact that the US men's team outsourced their best products.
- 5:14Speaker 1: That Balligan is not against English, not American. Uh, Pachettino
- 5:20Speaker 1: the coach not American.
- 5:21Speaker 3: But that might be You're cursed. Though that might be
- 5:24Speaker 3: a curse.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Coaches who aren't from the country that they coach for
- 5:28Speaker 4: have like a terrible record of like ever winning a
- 5:31Speaker 4: World Cup coaching their team. I will say, though, back
- 5:33Speaker 4: to the fireworks thing, and then we can move on.
- 5:36Speaker 4: I did want to get away from the flares last night,
- 5:38Speaker 4: just because as someone who grew up in Florida and
- 5:40Speaker 4: as an American, I grew up with explosives. You people
- 5:43Speaker 4: did not, And for that reason, I am a little terrified.
- 5:46Speaker 2: I'm sure that there are some digits that are missing.
- 5:49Speaker 1: App On the football front, Joe Burrows says he's getting
- 5:54Speaker 1: LSU twenty nineteen vibes from the Bengals this year. He
- 5:59Speaker 1: is amped up for the start of training camp. He
- 6:03Speaker 1: believes in this team. He thinks they've filled all of
- 6:05Speaker 1: the proper holes they got. Dexter Lawrence on defense. Jonathan
- 6:09Speaker 1: Allen Kenjre, you gotta love this. You're a big if
- 6:12Speaker 1: I remember correctly because I was told to write this
- 6:14Speaker 1: stuff down A big Bengals futures backer I am.
- 6:19Speaker 3: And also, did you watch this interview or did you
- 6:23Speaker 3: just hear it?
- 6:24Speaker 2: I read the quotes.
- 6:26Speaker 3: I need you to go.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Back and look at Joe Burrow in this interview. He
- 6:30Speaker 4: is the beefiest I have ever seen him. I think
- 6:34Speaker 4: his arms are the size of my thighe right now,
- 6:37Speaker 4: so I think we might get full blown vintage LSU
- 6:42Speaker 4: Joe Burrow. My only fear with the Bengals is them
- 6:44Speaker 4: continuing to leave him high and dry on the offensive line.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Uh yeah, just pulls up the video. Definitely looking swoll beef.
- 6:53Speaker 1: He's been drinking the egg yoke a la.
- 6:57Speaker 4: Rocky Creatine egg yokes. His arms are literally the size
- 7:01Speaker 4: of my size.
- 7:02Speaker 2: It would be something to that.
- 7:06Speaker 1: I mean, it helps when you find love in your life.
- 7:10Speaker 1: We are talking running backs, speaking of the size of
- 7:13Speaker 1: a thigh or a tree trunk. A lot of the
- 7:15Speaker 1: running backs in the league right now taking the league
- 7:17Speaker 1: by storm, Genti Derrick, Henry Sakwon Barkley, Fijon Robinson talking
- 7:23Speaker 1: to Amory Hunt in a moment. You can bet all
- 7:25Speaker 1: of these guys over at the best sports app in
- 7:28Speaker 1: the land. Let's talk about our folks over at DraftKings.

- 7:57Speaker 1: the Draft Kings Sports app. Today and Day in the game,
- 8:00Speaker 1: the Crown is yours. Super excited about today's guest. Emery Hunt,
- 8:05Speaker 1: owner of the Football game Plan college football color Analysts.
- 8:09Speaker 1: He works for CBS Sports HQ as well. Anytime I've
- 8:13Speaker 1: had a chance to chop it up with Emery or
- 8:16Speaker 1: just listen to his thoughts on the world of football,
- 8:18Speaker 1: I always come away smarter.
- 8:19Speaker 2: So thank you first and foremost for the time today.
- 8:23Speaker 5: Always a pleasure man. Appreciate you guys having me on.
- 8:26Speaker 1: So I want to start with the guy that was
- 8:28Speaker 1: drafted at the top of the twenty twenty six class.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I am fascinated by Jeremiah Love this year in the
- 8:34Speaker 1: Arizona Cardinals. I'm seeing a lot of comparisons to Ashton
- 8:38Speaker 1: Gent a highly touted prospect drafted early in the draft,
- 8:43Speaker 1: going to an offense that you expect pretty much nothing from.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Do you think Jeremiah Love can be successful in year one?
- 8:49Speaker 2: And what do you think about him as a prospect
- 8:52Speaker 2: in general?
- 8:53Speaker 5: I do feel like he has a talent to be
- 8:56Speaker 5: what you want your RB one to be. The problem is,
- 9:00Speaker 5: you know he has a lot of traffic in his
- 9:02Speaker 5: way in terms of that backfield is going to be
- 9:06Speaker 5: strenuous for Arizona, but it could help him prolong his season.
- 9:09Speaker 5: We know Rookieeson had that rookie wall, but he's so
- 9:12Speaker 5: dog on good and you know, he was my number
- 9:14Speaker 5: one running back, would have been my number one running
- 9:16Speaker 5: back if he would have been able to come out
- 9:18Speaker 5: last year because he has that explosiveness, that ability to
- 9:22Speaker 5: score from anywhere on the field more so than an
- 9:25Speaker 5: Ashen Genty that I feel like Ashton Genty. I compared
- 9:29Speaker 5: Ashton Genty to more of an Emtt Smith type to
- 9:31Speaker 5: where it may not look the best, but at the
- 9:35Speaker 5: end of the day, you're like, how did he get
- 9:36Speaker 5: one hundred and twenty eight yards rushing? Like nothing you
- 9:39Speaker 5: could point to and be like, oh, that's the trade, right,
- 9:42Speaker 5: But what you know, Jeremiah Love, I compared his game
- 9:45Speaker 5: to Adrian Peterson because he runs up right, he's explosive,
- 9:49Speaker 5: and it looks like he doesn't get tired. And so
- 9:52Speaker 5: at the end of the day when you have that ability,
- 9:55Speaker 5: and he's a better pass catcher than Adrian Peterson was
- 9:58Speaker 5: coming out of you know, Oklahoma. So I just feel
- 10:00Speaker 5: like if love had to be the bell, how he could.
- 10:03Speaker 5: But I feel like his backfield, you know they're going
- 10:05Speaker 5: to bring him along slowly, but you you have to
- 10:07Speaker 5: be impressed with someone of his caliber and where he's
- 10:10Speaker 5: gonna end up being as a pro.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Wow, well those are quite the comps.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Those are two of my maybe two of my three
- 10:16Speaker 1: favorite running backs of all time, Adrian Peterson on the
- 10:20Speaker 1: field Adrian Peterson and and EMMITTT.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Smith. So I love that. What about the other guys?
- 10:27Speaker 1: There was this steep drop off after Jeremiah loved Jadarium
- 10:30Speaker 1: Price's teammate went at the end of the first round,
- 10:32Speaker 1: Kaylon Black. Mike Washington is somebody I really liked out
- 10:35Speaker 1: of Arkansas. I thought Nick Singleton was going to be
- 10:39Speaker 1: one of the top running backs in the class going
- 10:41Speaker 1: into last year's college football season. That fell off. He's
- 10:44Speaker 1: on the Titans now. But is there anybody else that
- 10:47Speaker 1: you love in the twenty six class?
- 10:51Speaker 5: I absolutely love Mike Washington and also Jenderem Price, but
- 10:55Speaker 5: with Mike Washington and Jonah Coleman too, I'll get to
- 10:58Speaker 5: him in a second from war that ended up in Denver.
- 11:02Speaker 5: But when you look at Mike Washington, I copped his
- 11:05Speaker 5: game to Aman Green. They're both about six feet two
- 11:09Speaker 5: twenty five. They both are super explosive, they both hit
- 11:12Speaker 5: that outside zone, they're gone, and they both have fumbling
- 11:16Speaker 5: issues and that was the biggest thing for Aarman Green
- 11:19Speaker 5: until he got a good handle on it. And that's
- 11:21Speaker 5: what we heard about Mike Washington as well. I keep
- 11:24Speaker 5: seeing them lose that Memphis game where he fumbled the
- 11:26Speaker 5: ball going into the end zone for the go ahead
- 11:30Speaker 5: winning touchdown, so he has to really protect the football better.
- 11:34Speaker 5: But I love the pairing of him and asking Genty
- 11:36Speaker 5: because he gives you a lot of what Genty doesn't have.
- 11:39Speaker 5: Ginga doesn't have that home run hitting speed, doesn't have
- 11:42Speaker 5: the ability to really threaten the defense with angles. Washington does.
- 11:46Speaker 5: So the two together gives you a good one two punch.
- 11:49Speaker 5: When we look at Jonah Coleman, I spoke with him
- 11:51Speaker 5: at the Combine and he talked about, like, I think
- 11:53Speaker 5: people underestimate how good of a receiver I am because
- 11:56Speaker 5: he was a receiver in high school before moving to
- 11:59Speaker 5: running back. So we're gonna see that unleash with the
- 12:02Speaker 5: Denver Broncos and showing Peyton and I love showing Payton
- 12:05Speaker 5: because he has his entire backfield is under five nine,
- 12:09Speaker 5: So shout out to the short kings out there right
- 12:11Speaker 5: hi your backfield, So you have that going forward for Coleman.
- 12:15Speaker 5: Good good, aggressive with good vision. Price. I love the
- 12:18Speaker 5: fact that he could step out of tackles. He's really
- 12:20Speaker 5: slippery as a runner, but he also can help you
- 12:22Speaker 5: as a kickoff return specialist. He's going to a great
- 12:24Speaker 5: situation himself where he can be the guy and being
- 12:27Speaker 5: an explosive element. So this was a good I think
- 12:31Speaker 5: this was a good running back class to upgrade teams
- 12:34Speaker 5: RB two. And you know we're now in the era
- 12:36Speaker 5: where we're talking about tandem starters as opposed to one
- 12:39Speaker 5: guy being a true bell.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Kyle, I want to talk about the current state of
- 12:44Speaker 4: the running back position. For a long time, running backs
- 12:47Speaker 4: were not paid. They were seen as finishing pieces. You
- 12:49Speaker 4: could argue Saquon Barkley, was he even a finishing piece?
- 12:52Speaker 4: But Jeremiah Love getting drafted third. Overall, you know the
- 12:55Speaker 4: Chiefs beefing up with Kenneth Walker, Travis a h Ets
- 13:00Speaker 4: and going to the Saints. Do you think that the
- 13:02Speaker 4: position has changed in that it's no longer seen as
- 13:05Speaker 4: a finishing piece when running backs are being taken in
- 13:07Speaker 4: the top three again, or do you think that this
- 13:09Speaker 4: conversation is just something that's going to continue to change
- 13:12Speaker 4: over the next couple of years.
- 13:14Speaker 5: Propaganda is a strong thing. The running back position has
- 13:18Speaker 5: always been the same. The problem is you have now
- 13:21Speaker 5: more people talking about this. From me, as long as
- 13:25Speaker 5: analytics became part of the forefront conversation, people talk themselves
- 13:29Speaker 5: out of game breakers, but every time since this became
- 13:32Speaker 5: a thing for them, if you look at the final
- 13:35Speaker 5: four of teams in the postseason every year, it's teams
- 13:38Speaker 5: that can run the football, and game breakers have always
- 13:41Speaker 5: gone in the first round. So in you know, the
- 13:46Speaker 5: disingenuous part of the conversations is always where you could
- 13:49Speaker 5: You can find a runner back anywhere, sure, but you
- 13:52Speaker 5: can't find Saquon Barkley anywhere. And Saquon Barkley in the eighties, nineties,
- 13:57Speaker 5: twenty twenty tens, twenty twenties, they all go in the
- 14:00Speaker 5: first round anyway, So therein lies the difference. You can
- 14:03Speaker 5: find an embry hunt anywhere, you can't find the sake
- 14:06Speaker 5: On Barkley anywhere, And so they always wanted to skew
- 14:10Speaker 5: the conversation to try to devalue the running back position.
- 14:15Speaker 5: But anybody that has played ball will tell you this
- 14:18Speaker 5: straight up. If you have a true game break in
- 14:21Speaker 5: the backfield, it changes everything. It changes how you defend,
- 14:25Speaker 5: it changes how you attack. It literally changes the math.
- 14:30Speaker 5: And so when you have these guys like a Price
- 14:33Speaker 5: or a Love or Barkley or Gibbs or Bijon, those
- 14:38Speaker 5: dudes really dictate how defenses play because you're on your edge.
- 14:42Speaker 5: If I am afraid of you breaking a tackle or
- 14:46Speaker 5: a slipping a tackle to get to get to the
- 14:49Speaker 5: end zone, man, I got to make sure my angles
- 14:51Speaker 5: are right. I got to make sure I don't overrun.
- 14:53Speaker 5: I got to make sure my fits are proper. And
- 14:55Speaker 5: while I'm doing all that, if I'm out of step
- 14:58Speaker 5: one spot, that back is off to the races. And
- 15:02Speaker 5: you can't get that in round seven. You can get
- 15:05Speaker 5: that in round one. And so I always felt like
- 15:08Speaker 5: the conversation was dis ingenious, But nobody listens to me
- 15:10Speaker 5: having played the position. They just rather to listen to
- 15:12Speaker 5: those guys that you know come up with those cool
- 15:15Speaker 5: splatter chart graphics and you know, the spider charts, and
- 15:18Speaker 5: they make you look smart. But the actual football guys
- 15:21Speaker 5: to tell you like running backs, Well, if you have
- 15:23Speaker 5: a dude back there, that's a problem.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Do you think we're seeing a little bit of a
- 15:28Speaker 4: changing of the guard from the Christian mccaffreys, the Derrick Henrys,
- 15:32Speaker 4: and the Jonathan Taylor's into more of the bee jon Robinson,
- 15:35Speaker 4: Ashton Genfi and jamieer Gibbs of the world. I'm trying
- 15:38Speaker 4: to predict, not only as a gambler, but as someone
- 15:41Speaker 4: who plays fantasy football, when do you move off of
- 15:44Speaker 4: the guys that we as fans have been so spoiled
- 15:47Speaker 4: with for the last decade.
- 15:49Speaker 5: You got to keep your eyes on the prize, and
- 15:52Speaker 5: you know, usually the game will tell your eyes will
- 15:56Speaker 5: never deceive you. You know, analytics will all the time.
- 16:00Speaker 5: You know, they'll tell you, oh, running backs golf cliff
- 16:02Speaker 5: on age thirty, Well here's Derek Henry. You know he
- 16:04Speaker 5: is not you know of this normal you know running
- 16:07Speaker 5: back group. And we saw guys like Curtis Martin, We've
- 16:10Speaker 5: seen guys imt. Smith. We've seen guys have success over
- 16:13Speaker 5: the age of thirty. So if you're watching the game
- 16:16Speaker 5: and not just waiting for the outcome to see how
- 16:18Speaker 5: you won your fantasy or you know what the numbers
- 16:20Speaker 5: look like, See how they got those numbers, and you
- 16:22Speaker 5: could see, oh, this dude's not This dude got a
- 16:24Speaker 5: lot left, you know. And I think that's the that's
- 16:26Speaker 5: the difference. So a guy like McCaffrey, and then you
- 16:29Speaker 5: have to pair of guys with you know what they
- 16:31Speaker 5: what they are, the system they're in. You know, a
- 16:33Speaker 5: guy like McCaffrey is going to have a longer leash
- 16:36Speaker 5: and a longer run rayed runway before he falls off
- 16:40Speaker 5: the cliff, right. A guy like Derek Henry, if he
- 16:43Speaker 5: was still in if he was in any other situation
- 16:46Speaker 5: not paired with the mobile quarterback, you would say, Okay,
- 16:49Speaker 5: I'm a little bit worried about his workload. But because
- 16:52Speaker 5: he's with a quarterback that you got to respect his legs,
- 16:56Speaker 5: it makes life easier for Derek Henry or any back.
- 16:59Speaker 5: So look at Gus Jackson, Gus Edwards when he was
- 17:03Speaker 5: with Lamar, jack supposed to when he left Lamar.
- 17:06Speaker 2: You know.
- 17:07Speaker 5: So I think it's always about what you're actually watching,
- 17:10Speaker 5: because you know more bald than you're giving yourself credit
- 17:13Speaker 5: for as a viewer, as a fan, because you have
- 17:16Speaker 5: to just look at I don't see this guy's sluggish.
- 17:18Speaker 5: They're still not tackling him, they're still afraid of him.
- 17:21Speaker 5: They still can't catch Christian McCaffrey. So as long as
- 17:23Speaker 5: those things are confirming with your IIC, then you should
- 17:27Speaker 5: have no problem in trusting those guys a long time.
- 17:31Speaker 4: There were some big moves this offseason for running back says, well,
- 17:34Speaker 4: what are your thoughts on Kenneth Walker's move after winning
- 17:37Speaker 4: a Super Bowl and Travis etn like I mentioned going
- 17:40Speaker 4: to the Saints and now Tank Bigsby being that number
- 17:43Speaker 4: one in Jacksonville.
- 17:44Speaker 5: Well, I would say this for Walker, I would love
- 17:47Speaker 5: to be in the running back room for you know,
- 17:50Speaker 5: going through his game tape because he run his running
- 17:54Speaker 5: style runs counter to everything that you draw up, Like
- 17:57Speaker 5: nothing you draw up is supposed to go the way
- 17:59Speaker 5: he runs. It's like you said, okay, you're supposed to
- 18:01Speaker 5: hit this thing front side, you know, read the block
- 18:03Speaker 5: and then bounce off the He'll go that way and
- 18:07Speaker 5: then stop and then turn due east and go the
- 18:10Speaker 5: opposite way is away from the blockers, and he's like
- 18:13Speaker 5: this is not gonna work, but it works out for him,
- 18:16Speaker 5: Like he is the only one that get away with that.
- 18:18Speaker 5: And so I think for Kansas City what they needed
- 18:20Speaker 5: was someone that can truly run the ball and set
- 18:23Speaker 5: the table. And now they've paired him with a good
- 18:26Speaker 5: draft class and Emit Johnson out of Nebraska, even Jaden
- 18:30Speaker 5: Ot the undrafted rookie free agent out of Oklahoma slash
- 18:34Speaker 5: cal Uh. So they're gonna be good running football. I
- 18:36Speaker 5: think he works in Kansas City. He's a better back
- 18:39Speaker 5: in my opinion than the checko. So I like that
- 18:42Speaker 5: Travis h Chan going to New Orleans. I think that
- 18:45Speaker 5: weekends Jacksonville significantly. People overestimated but Shawn Tutan's Bashil Tuton's
- 18:52Speaker 5: ability and not realize what really made that offense go
- 18:55Speaker 5: was the threat of h Chan hitting the corner or
- 18:59Speaker 5: being able just to gash you on these sprint draws
- 19:01Speaker 5: or even screenplay. So now you put him in New
- 19:03Speaker 5: Orleans with Alvin Kamara, who still has that still looks
- 19:07Speaker 5: the same. You can tell if he was a rookie
- 19:09Speaker 5: or twelve year veteran, he still plays the same. I
- 19:11Speaker 5: think that right there is long term and and Bixby
- 19:15Speaker 5: is now in Philly. I think him and what they
- 19:20Speaker 5: do with uh, you know.
- 19:21Speaker 4: I'm in facial too, And I said, I said, Tank
- 19:23Speaker 4: Bigsby didn't. I, Oh my goodness, what a listen.
- 19:28Speaker 5: But it's a it's a it's a it's a fraudulent
- 19:30Speaker 5: slip because he still should be in.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Big Jacks fan. I knew eventually it would catch up
- 19:33Speaker 2: to her.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, yeah, I don't even that was just
- 19:37Speaker 4: my coffee is still here today.
- 19:39Speaker 5: He still should be in Jacksonville, he asked me. Like,
- 19:41Speaker 5: I think that would I would feel confident, more confident
- 19:44Speaker 5: about their run game if Bixby was still there as
- 19:46Speaker 5: opposed to relying on Tuton to be the feature guy.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I love Tuton now. I think that he had
- 19:51Speaker 3: a great season last year.
- 19:52Speaker 5: I think Tuton is more of a complimentary simple he's
- 19:55Speaker 5: his He reminds me more of what the the Commander's
- 19:59Speaker 5: fan you know, have and Bill Crossty Merrick there. They're good,
- 20:04Speaker 5: complimentary guys. They're not guys that really threaten you. They're
- 20:07Speaker 5: guys that come in when the feature guy then wore
- 20:10Speaker 5: down as defense, and they had that speed to really
- 20:12Speaker 5: take advantage. But when you ask those guys to kind
- 20:14Speaker 5: of carry the load, and a load in this era
- 20:18Speaker 5: is now fifteen carries it. No longer is the twenty
- 20:21Speaker 5: five carries shade. Now it's the fifteen carries and that
- 20:26Speaker 5: you know, I don't think those guys had that. So
- 20:28Speaker 5: he's gonna need someone else to kind of emerge to
- 20:31Speaker 5: where they can take some of their pressure off him.
- 20:33Speaker 2: From one eight Chan to the other.
- 20:35Speaker 1: What do you think of, by the way, cash the
- 20:38Speaker 1: ticket on me mentioning the Miami Dolphins here, but Deavon
- 20:41Speaker 1: a Chan now has that entire offense is his. The
- 20:45Speaker 1: Dolphins have probably the worst wide receiving corps that we've
- 20:48Speaker 1: seen in perhaps NFL history, definitely in the NFL right now. Uh,
- 20:53Speaker 1: he's got insane explosiveness. Is he good enough to carry
- 20:56Speaker 1: an offense? So we don't expect them to be very good.
- 20:59Speaker 1: But you're overall view on his talent and his ability
- 21:02Speaker 1: to be a bell cow year after year.
- 21:05Speaker 2: I know injuries were a concern coming out of A
- 21:07Speaker 2: and M as well.
- 21:08Speaker 5: I actually like his game. I remember the first time
- 21:11Speaker 5: my scour reports like he runs like a determined puppy,
- 21:16Speaker 5: like he just can't just like it just keeps going.
- 21:20Speaker 5: He never gets tired, and he has that element of
- 21:23Speaker 5: what I talked about that explosive speed. And there were
- 21:26Speaker 5: times when you know Mike McDaniel was, you know, the
- 21:29Speaker 5: head coach, like you know, keep feeding him. You know
- 21:32Speaker 5: that's you know he'll get he'll get too cute and
- 21:35Speaker 5: then get away from it. They try to go back
- 21:37Speaker 5: to it. But man, you see the same thing you
- 21:39Speaker 5: see in Buffalo with James Cook. Like, if you run
- 21:42Speaker 5: James Cook, you're in the Super Bowl probably two years
- 21:44Speaker 5: in a row, as opposed to getting bounced out the postseason.
- 21:47Speaker 5: And I feel like with a chan you know in
- 21:50Speaker 5: Miami now with Malik Willis, he may be one of
- 21:53Speaker 5: those guys you kind of put an asterisk by, like
- 21:55Speaker 5: he may crush fifteen hundred yards with a crazy yards
- 21:59Speaker 5: to carry average because you have to worry about Moliquial
- 22:03Speaker 5: List and them adding Cayton Proctor and getting bigger upfront.
- 22:07Speaker 5: I love that for Miami. I think Miami is gonna
- 22:10Speaker 5: look like a team that can run a football and
- 22:12Speaker 5: looking at what Halfley had left in Green Bay with
- 22:16Speaker 5: Josh Jacobs, I think he understands if we're gonna live
- 22:20Speaker 5: and die by this run game, and we got an
- 22:21Speaker 5: athletic quarterback that can ease some of the pressure off
- 22:24Speaker 5: of e Chan and a Chan could have a easily
- 22:28Speaker 5: have a five to five and a half yards carry
- 22:31Speaker 5: average this year?
- 22:32Speaker 4: Is Ollie Gordon the most underrated running back in the
- 22:35Speaker 4: league right now?
- 22:36Speaker 3: Because I am in the camp that potentially.
- 22:39Speaker 5: I do like it was fascinating cause it was like,
- 22:43Speaker 5: this was my whole part about Oli Gordon leading up
- 22:45Speaker 5: to the jobts like, why do people just ignore he
- 22:49Speaker 5: ran for like eighteen hundred yards at Oklahoma State that.
- 22:52Speaker 2: That year and the year his junior year, I think
- 22:57Speaker 2: sophomore year. It was crazy.
- 23:00Speaker 5: And then you know they had I would say they
- 23:02Speaker 5: had awful quarterback play. They even had bad quarterback play
- 23:05Speaker 5: his last year at Oklahoma They were awful on offensive
- 23:08Speaker 5: offensive line as well too. It was like, one of
- 23:10Speaker 5: the worst things that could happen to you as a
- 23:12Speaker 5: running back is when the quarterback turns around the hands
- 23:14Speaker 5: you to football and he doesn't see what's going on
- 23:17Speaker 5: behind him. All you see is different cult You're like, man,
- 23:20Speaker 5: I gotta get through four dudes before you even get
- 23:23Speaker 5: to a line of scrimmage. That's what was happening his
- 23:24Speaker 5: last year Oklahoma State, and I thought he was gonna
- 23:27Speaker 5: be the perfect pairing for Miami, which I tell and
- 23:31Speaker 5: I felt like, again, Mike McDaniels, they get too cute
- 23:33Speaker 5: with the play calling and you're like, here's a short yardist,
- 23:35Speaker 5: goal line guy. Here's a guy that could really be
- 23:38Speaker 5: the finisher of these drives. I think that's still his role.
- 23:42Speaker 5: And to your point, I do feel like he's undervalued
- 23:45Speaker 5: and has a legitimate shot to steal away let's say
- 23:48Speaker 5: five to six touchdowns this season being that guy, because
- 23:52Speaker 5: Ali Gordon is, yeah, he has a you know, he
- 23:55Speaker 5: can run tall a little bit, but Ali Gordon is
- 23:57Speaker 5: a dog.
- 23:58Speaker 1: All right, it's jump. Let's make the obvious jump here,
- 24:01Speaker 1: he said. Mike McDaniel's offense is maybe a little bit
- 24:04Speaker 1: too cute. Well, he now takes over the offense for
- 24:07Speaker 1: the LA Chargers. They have a running back who's a
- 24:09Speaker 1: little underwhelming in his rookie season. But that happens Omarion Hampton,
- 24:13Speaker 1: who I just saw headline. He was told by his
- 24:16Speaker 1: offensive coordinator that he reminds him of Terrell Davis. What
- 24:19Speaker 1: do you see in Omario on Hampton? And how can
- 24:21Speaker 1: Mike McDaniel open up the running game and everything for
- 24:25Speaker 1: Justin Herbert.
- 24:26Speaker 5: Hampton was my number two running back in last year's class,
- 24:29Speaker 5: and I just love his his He's a one cut
- 24:32Speaker 5: down here running.
- 24:33Speaker 2: He has the bursts.
- 24:34Speaker 5: You know, he's built like a back that you know
- 24:37Speaker 5: played in the nineties and those type of backs you
- 24:39Speaker 5: used to love, like they could handle multiple you know,
- 24:43Speaker 5: multiple carry games, like twenty plus carry games. Uh and
- 24:47Speaker 5: Mike McDaniel. I feel like, if he's I love him,
- 24:50Speaker 5: pair with Jim Harball because we know Harball wants to
- 24:53Speaker 5: run the football and he will run the football and
- 24:56Speaker 5: that's gonna help Hampton. If Hampton can stay healthy, that's good.
- 25:00Speaker 5: That's his thing. Hampton made life easier for Drake me
- 25:02Speaker 5: at u NC. He's gonna make life easier at full
- 25:06Speaker 5: strength for Justin Herbert. The problem for the Chargers, And
- 25:10Speaker 5: I said this on CBS. I was like, listen, no
- 25:12Speaker 5: one enjoys this summer more than Justin Herbert because they
- 25:15Speaker 5: spent every other week talking about how Jaialen Hurt sucks,
- 25:19Speaker 5: Labar Jackson sucks. Meanwhile, this dude ain't won a playoff
- 25:22Speaker 5: game ever, and he get he goes unscathed. You know
- 25:26Speaker 5: what I'm saying like this is he's out on the beach,
- 25:28Speaker 5: he's enjoying my ties. He ain't won a playoff game,
- 25:31Speaker 5: but Hurts has fall in love with the deep ball Emery.
- 25:34Speaker 5: The guy has a beautiful arm, and we just tend
- 25:36Speaker 5: to forget everything else. They just love the aesthetic of
- 25:39Speaker 5: Justin Herbert. They don't, they don't. They stop watching the games,
- 25:43Speaker 5: you know, and they'll keep saying he needs helping weapons. Well,
- 25:45Speaker 5: Hampton is that help and that weapon. But Hampton has
- 25:47Speaker 5: to stay healthy. Uh.
- 25:50Speaker 1: The last year's class, he said Hampton was two. I
- 25:52Speaker 1: imagine Gent was one last year.
- 25:55Speaker 5: Yeah, he was one, but not by much though I
- 25:57Speaker 5: had let's say, if I had an eighty and a
- 25:59Speaker 5: half grade on Gent, I had an eighty grade on
- 26:03Speaker 5: on hamp That was a big.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Fan of Hampton.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Everything that this year's class is not outside of Jeremiah Love,
- 26:10Speaker 1: last year's class was We mentioned Gent and Omario on Hampton,
- 26:14Speaker 1: Trevon Henderson in New England, that's where Kendra is based. R. J.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Harvey I watched closely as an.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Orlando guy who played at UCDF Fagel Toot and we
- 26:23Speaker 1: talked about him, Cam Scataboo, the Battering Ram, the other
- 26:26Speaker 1: guys from last year's class. They'll be entering year two
- 26:29Speaker 1: and have a chance to really break out here. Among
- 26:31Speaker 1: the rest of the guys who are sophomores in the NFL, who.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Do you like the best?
- 26:37Speaker 5: I would probably say Hampton because Henderson is gonna be
- 26:41Speaker 5: blocked by.
- 26:43Speaker 2: You know what they have in.
- 26:46Speaker 5: The other running back, Stevenson Romidre Stevenson, who stopped fumbling,
- 26:51Speaker 5: which was great for him and that earned him more
- 26:53Speaker 5: grace for the he coached. He gonna utilize that dual
- 26:57Speaker 5: tandem backfield. But I feel like Hampton has a chance
- 27:01Speaker 5: and the runway and the pathway for him to be
- 27:04Speaker 5: that guy I hope. And I know injuries are a
- 27:07Speaker 5: freak occurrence. You can't predict someone's getting hurt. But if
- 27:11Speaker 5: he's able to stay out there for a full seventeen
- 27:13Speaker 5: game season, he's a thirteen hundred yard rusher in my opinion.
- 27:18Speaker 4: I think we have to talk about Brendan Soresby here,
- 27:21Speaker 4: just because that seems to be a hot topic of
- 27:24Speaker 4: conversation right now. You tweeted out a scouting report of him.
- 27:27Speaker 4: What do you think his strengths and weaknesses are and
- 27:29Speaker 4: what type of team do you think might be interested
- 27:30Speaker 4: in him.
- 27:31Speaker 5: His strengths are that it may not look conventional, but
- 27:35Speaker 5: he drops some beautiful balls deep down the field in
- 27:38Speaker 5: terms of you know, you're like Dann that's a funky release,
- 27:41Speaker 5: but it falls in line accurately and it hits the
- 27:44Speaker 5: receiver stride. He does have good velocity more so than
- 27:49Speaker 5: a strong arm, so he's able to whip the ball
- 27:51Speaker 5: around and connect when he sets his feet, you know,
- 27:54Speaker 5: he could drive the ball. And that's the other that's
- 27:56Speaker 5: a concern about him. You know, the his feet are
- 27:59Speaker 5: never set. You know, he has a whip like releases,
- 28:01Speaker 5: very much like Spencer Rattler in terms of his release
- 28:04Speaker 5: and the ability to really get the football out there.
- 28:06Speaker 5: But his feet are never calm. And that's both in
- 28:09Speaker 5: a clean pocket and definitely versus pressure. And obviously the
- 28:13Speaker 5: you know, the the other thing, you know, the gambling
- 28:17Speaker 5: that he's been you know, accused of. And what was
- 28:21Speaker 5: what's interesting about that. I was in studio watching this
- 28:24Speaker 5: was week zero, week one, the week they played Nebraska,
- 28:28Speaker 5: and you know, watching how that game ended, like, yo,
- 28:31Speaker 5: why would he make that decision? Like that's it was
- 28:33Speaker 5: first down that like twenty seconds up they're driving.
- 28:36Speaker 2: What throw was that? Now?
- 28:39Speaker 5: Looking at it with hindsight, like Damn was that one
- 28:43Speaker 5: of them, you know what I'm saying. So that's good.
- 28:46Speaker 5: So I think the team that should be interested is
- 28:48Speaker 5: probably like the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and those seas because
- 28:50Speaker 5: we just saw this, like with one hundred Decords, who
- 28:53Speaker 5: lost his whole couse career at IOA State when he
- 28:56Speaker 5: got caught betting and then had to finish up at
- 28:59Speaker 5: Iowa Western. Gaudjuco signed with the Saints as an undrafted
- 29:03Speaker 5: free agent last year, got cut, and he played in
- 29:05Speaker 5: the preseason, but got cut and he just finished his
- 29:08Speaker 5: false spring season with the Houston Gamblers funny enough INFL,
- 29:14Speaker 5: and now he just got signed by the Saints again.
- 29:17Speaker 5: I think personally that's the route Sores people will have
- 29:20Speaker 5: to go and should go, because you got to stay
- 29:23Speaker 5: clean for at least a year before I feel comfortable
- 29:25Speaker 5: bringing you in because outside of the betting on games,
- 29:28Speaker 5: you can control that by not playing him. The problem
- 29:31Speaker 5: that he presents for an NFL team is what's the
- 29:36Speaker 5: lynch pin of gambling edges and ability to lay good
- 29:40Speaker 5: bets knowing who's gonna be out there healthy? And you
- 29:42Speaker 5: know what I'm saying, if you have someone that has
- 29:45Speaker 5: inside information on injury reports, schematic, you know, game plans.
- 29:50Speaker 5: He doesn't have to place a bet, but he can
- 29:52Speaker 5: get that information to someone who can. I think that's
- 29:55Speaker 5: the rub, and that's why if I'm an NFL team,
- 29:57Speaker 5: I'll stay further away from him until he goes to
- 30:00Speaker 5: an alternate league place stays a year clean, and then
- 30:03Speaker 5: we could talk about bringing him in.
- 30:05Speaker 4: That was kind of a conversation we were having on
- 30:07Speaker 4: our show on Tuesday, was what type of repercussions did
- 30:12Speaker 4: the NFL put in place here to prevent future college
- 30:15Speaker 4: quarterbacks from gambling getting away with Seid and then just
- 30:19Speaker 4: making a run to the league with you know, nothing,
- 30:22Speaker 4: nothing as far as like a slap on the wrist
- 30:24Speaker 4: or anything like that. So that's kind of been the
- 30:26Speaker 4: question for us. Are you expecting any repercussions for him
- 30:29Speaker 4: at all? And if not, what type of round do
- 30:32Speaker 4: you see or where would you have him kind of
- 30:35Speaker 4: mocked in comparison to the other quarterbacks that would have
- 30:37Speaker 4: been coming out.
- 30:38Speaker 5: If he was clean and was coming out in this draft,
- 30:42Speaker 5: he would he would fit in my quarterbacks that went
- 30:46Speaker 5: that were in the six to ten range, right, So
- 30:50Speaker 5: that would put him in line with the how I
- 30:53Speaker 5: had him graded, so that would put him in line
- 30:55Speaker 5: with the Tye Simpsons, A K Club Nicks, the Jail
- 30:58Speaker 5: and Daniels, the Who's u DFA with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,
- 31:02Speaker 5: the garrettnus Smeyer. So we're talking more Day three guy,
- 31:06Speaker 5: Day three type talents, and that's where I would have
- 31:09Speaker 5: had him greates. So that's why I found it fascinating
- 31:12Speaker 5: that these guys, just because he announced he was gonna
- 31:15Speaker 5: be in a supplemental draft, everyone is breaking the next
- 31:16Speaker 5: time he was a first round pick, Like y'all didn't
- 31:19Speaker 5: mention him in the first round at no point in
- 31:22Speaker 5: time in his collegiate career while he was actually playing.
- 31:26Speaker 5: It's all about the new shiny toy that you now,
- 31:28Speaker 5: y'all saying, oh, a first round Yeah, he would have
- 31:30Speaker 5: been a first round player. If that was the case,
- 31:31Speaker 5: y'all would have told him, don't transfer to Texas Tech,
- 31:34Speaker 5: come out in the draft. But y'all didn't. Why because
- 31:36Speaker 5: it wasn't the first round talent. So I would say
- 31:38Speaker 5: day three if everything was clean, But now that we
- 31:42Speaker 5: know nothing, and I would say, don't. Why would you
- 31:46Speaker 5: spend a pick on the guy that the league may
- 31:48Speaker 5: suspend for a year because we saw this with Calvin Ridley,
- 31:52Speaker 5: and you know, yeah, they'll say, well, teams still traded
- 31:55Speaker 5: for him, and then you know, but yeah, don't I
- 31:59Speaker 5: know it right? And they'll bring up Kai Shan Bouti
- 32:01Speaker 5: as a as an example. But that's different than this guy.
- 32:05Speaker 5: The quarterback controls everything. He touches the ball every place.
- 32:10Speaker 5: He would have more of an impact on a game
- 32:12Speaker 5: than a receiver would. Yeah, we could tell it for
- 32:14Speaker 5: a receiver points shaven like he dropping you like bro,
- 32:16Speaker 5: come on that dog. But a quarterback like you that
- 32:20Speaker 5: would be significant. And one thing the league doesn't play
- 32:22Speaker 5: about is their money. They'll let you be here, done
- 32:25Speaker 5: everything else, but mess up our back. Yeah you're you're
- 32:29Speaker 5: not playing.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Maybe that's what was going on with Brian Thomas Junior
- 32:32Speaker 2: last year.
- 32:34Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, don't start with me, Gravitz. Okay, I'm
- 32:37Speaker 4: notorious around here for my final question being a silly
- 32:40Speaker 4: question and hopefully the easiest one you will be asked today,
- 32:44Speaker 4: and that is do you think Fred Taylor should be
- 32:46Speaker 4: in the Hall of Fame?
- 32:47Speaker 5: Absolutely? And here soapbox, it's not even the small soapbox.
- 32:52Speaker 5: I don't think people understand how difficult it is to
- 32:57Speaker 5: get ten thousand yards in the NFL, especially when you
- 33:01Speaker 5: are the league guy like that, when people know you're
- 33:03Speaker 5: getting the football and they can't stop. You think about
- 33:07Speaker 5: some of these back If it was that easy to
- 33:09Speaker 5: get yards in the NFL, everybody would have ten thousand yards.
- 33:12Speaker 5: But I feel like if you hit that ten thousand
- 33:14Speaker 5: yard number as an NFL running back, regardless of error,
- 33:18Speaker 5: you're in. You are a Hall of Famer. And Fred
- 33:21Speaker 5: Taylor did this for a long time in Jacksonville. And
- 33:25Speaker 5: it's funny when people say he injury prone when you
- 33:27Speaker 5: look at he barely missed time like he crazy right
- 33:33Speaker 5: and then he had the it just that is an automatic. Yes,
- 33:38Speaker 5: he should be in and so but that's my platform,
- 33:43Speaker 5: is the fact that if you get ten thousands, and
- 33:45Speaker 5: if you look at that list and guys that have
- 33:47Speaker 5: gone ward done should be in. If you look at
- 33:49Speaker 5: that list of guys that have gone over ten thousand yards,
- 33:52Speaker 5: like those some dogs in there, man like and those,
- 33:55Speaker 5: that's the that's the benchmark for running backs to get
- 33:58Speaker 5: to the Hall of Fame's.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Look at the names that are right in front of
- 34:02Speaker 1: Fred Taylor, Thurman, Thomas, Frank O'harris, Marcus Allen, Edrin, James Marshall, Falk,
- 34:09Speaker 1: Jim Brown.
- 34:11Speaker 5: Come on, this was awesome about Fred Taylor to outside
- 34:20Speaker 5: of him doing it on the field. He also his
- 34:23Speaker 5: first ballot Aesthetic Hall of Famer. When I was in
- 34:26Speaker 5: high school, Fred Taylor introduced everybody to the merritant visors
- 34:30Speaker 5: like bro, I gotta get that. And the backflap it
- 34:33Speaker 5: was him at war Dune. He used to have a
- 34:34Speaker 5: backflap flap like aesthetic Hall of Fame, the tights, the
- 34:37Speaker 5: blue tight like come on now, he's hall of him
- 34:40Speaker 5: all the way around and yes anytime, Like I grew
- 34:43Speaker 5: up in the South Well that was like commonplace. So
- 34:46Speaker 5: Fred Taylor was like aesthetic in the Hall of Fame.
- 34:49Speaker 5: Like if you go in the barbershop you see all
- 34:51Speaker 5: the different hair cuts out. You know, I want the
- 34:53Speaker 5: number twenty Fred Tayler aesthetically was the number you know,
- 34:56Speaker 5: one in that in at UH ranking.
- 34:58Speaker 2: For sure.
- 35:00Speaker 1: I want a separate episode Emery hunts Aesthetic Hall of
- 35:03Speaker 1: Fame in the NFL. Let's get to our draft Kings
- 35:07Speaker 1: plant the Flag segment for this week, We're going season
- 35:10Speaker 1: long running back. Bet We're gonna go I got one,
- 35:13Speaker 1: Kendra's got one, and Emory is gonna give us his
- 35:15Speaker 1: grade on the bets that we place total yards, awards,
- 35:19Speaker 1: touchdowns week one. However you want to play this, Kendra,
- 35:22Speaker 1: We'll start with you.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Shut up. I'm trying to plant my flag here.
- 35:27Speaker 3: Okay, you're really planning your flag in that dex.
- 35:30Speaker 4: I am going to go with Jeremiah Love over eight
- 35:33Speaker 4: touchdowns on the season plus two point fifty. I think
- 35:37Speaker 4: even though he's a rookie, he's gonna see a ton
- 35:39Speaker 4: of snaps, probably a lot of goal line easy, easy.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Number for me there.
- 35:43Speaker 4: But my question for Emery would be if I were
- 35:46Speaker 4: to place a future on the next running back to
- 35:50Speaker 4: win Super Bowl MVP, who would you throw out there?
- 35:53Speaker 4: Who do you think is the most ready team right now?
- 35:56Speaker 4: Maybe a quarterback that might not shine in the big lights?
- 36:00Speaker 3: You who you point?
- 36:01Speaker 5: Not?
- 36:01Speaker 2: Well?
- 36:02Speaker 5: All right? Two things. One, you said eight touchdowns, right,
- 36:07Speaker 5: not rushing touchdowns or just eight touchdowns four touchdowns the
- 36:10Speaker 5: great bet by jerem Now the second part of your question,
- 36:15Speaker 5: I would say, I would say Derek Hem You said
- 36:19Speaker 5: running back to an MVP, right, And so when I
- 36:22Speaker 5: was growing up I had the same Super Bowl prediction
- 36:25Speaker 5: every year as the Saints versus the Raiders because I
- 36:28Speaker 5: was a big LA Raiders fan because of Marcus Allen
- 36:30Speaker 5: bo Jackson who also be in the Hall of Fame.
- 36:32Speaker 3: Bo Jackson were Eagle.
- 36:34Speaker 2: So now.
- 36:38Speaker 5: Getting all these takes in and so for the last
- 36:42Speaker 5: four years, my Super Bowl prediction has been the Eagles
- 36:44Speaker 5: versus Ravens. At some point we're gonna get it. We
- 36:46Speaker 5: almost got in twenty twenty three, but you know, Raves
- 36:49Speaker 5: decided to like not run the football in UH against
- 36:52Speaker 5: Kansas City at home when kan City can't.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Stop the run.
- 36:55Speaker 5: So with that being a backdrop, I do feel like
- 36:57Speaker 5: the Ravens will get in and if they get in there,
- 37:00Speaker 5: Kny will have a career day in a Super Bowl.
- 37:02Speaker 5: I'll say Derek Kany would be the next back to
- 37:04Speaker 5: win MVP in a Super Bowl.
- 37:06Speaker 1: I need have two cracks at it. With those two
- 37:08Speaker 1: teams going ahead to head not bad. I'm gonna go
- 37:11Speaker 1: with Ashton genty forty to one to win. Offensive Player
- 37:16Speaker 1: of the Year, improved offensive system under Kubiak, improved quarterback play.
- 37:21Speaker 1: For whoever ends up playing QB, I think it'll be
- 37:24Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins for most of the season, more opportunities in
- 37:27Speaker 1: an efficient offense, and I like the way he was
- 37:29Speaker 1: running at the end of last year. No surprise, this
- 37:32Speaker 1: guy came from the Mountain West and got off to
- 37:34Speaker 1: a slow start in his NFL career, carried Boise State
- 37:38Speaker 1: and then has to run behind a bad offense that
- 37:43Speaker 1: had no plan with Gino Smith at quarterback. This is
- 37:46Speaker 1: the cheapest we're gonna get Genty throughout the course of
- 37:48Speaker 1: his prime.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Emry, what do you.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Think about the chances of Genty just exploding in year two?
- 37:54Speaker 2: Given his talent?
- 37:56Speaker 5: I would say I would not bet that. And here's
- 38:00Speaker 5: what's It's.
- 38:01Speaker 2: Already in the books. Okay, I needed needed you to
- 38:04Speaker 2: guess me up here. Here's why.
- 38:08Speaker 5: I do agree with you that gent will have a
- 38:11Speaker 5: much better year because you get Tyler in the bomb,
- 38:13Speaker 5: you get Spencer Burford. Do you improve the offensive line?
- 38:16Speaker 5: That alone will help him be better. He would have
- 38:18Speaker 5: a thousand yard season there and would be better than
- 38:21Speaker 5: he was last year. The problem with Genty winning Offensive
- 38:24Speaker 5: Player of the Year we knew, we know, and I
- 38:27Speaker 5: kind of touched on. I've been flaming these dudes all
- 38:29Speaker 5: throughout this This show is about these analytic guys and
- 38:32Speaker 5: that you know they want to just see the highlights,
- 38:34Speaker 5: and gent won't have the highlights. Genty's highlights will require
- 38:38Speaker 5: you to actually watch the games, and so he's not
- 38:41Speaker 5: going to have multiple Jamior Gibb runs, and we know
- 38:45Speaker 5: the flash plays is what gets you, you know, the
- 38:49Speaker 5: thousand yards. I would even say a better bet would
- 38:52Speaker 5: be I don't know if this is a one of
- 38:55Speaker 5: the odds or whatnot, but who is the next back
- 38:58Speaker 5: to get two thousand yards? And that would be Jamiir Gibbs.
- 39:01Speaker 5: I think that's, you know, more attainable than let's say,
- 39:08Speaker 5: Offensive Player of the Year for Genty because of one.
- 39:12Speaker 5: We know they're gonna make whatever success about the quarterback
- 39:15Speaker 5: and so whoever that is right and it should be.
- 39:18Speaker 5: I'm not letting these dudes off the hook. With Finnanda
- 39:20Speaker 5: mien Doz, he spent all spring and talk about his
- 39:23Speaker 5: big brain and how he's the he could see things
- 39:26Speaker 5: in five D D chests and five D chests And
- 39:28Speaker 5: now you're telling me he can't beat out Kirk Cousins
- 39:30Speaker 5: with a full month runway to learn offense, like miss
- 39:33Speaker 5: me with that he better start the dog on season.
- 39:36Speaker 5: But they'll make whatever success about the quarterback and the
- 39:38Speaker 5: offensive coordinator and less about Genty. And I also feel
- 39:41Speaker 5: like Mike Washington will kind of help Genty but also
- 39:44Speaker 5: take some of that away from him. So I see
- 39:46Speaker 5: Genty having a thousand yards, but I don't see him
- 39:48Speaker 5: having those flash splash plays to get Offensive Player of
- 39:51Speaker 5: the Year. I do see that for Gibbs, and I
- 39:54Speaker 5: also see that for him being the next guy to
- 39:56Speaker 5: rush for two thousand yards.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Well to that point the mirror, Gibbs is the odds
- 40:01Speaker 1: on favorite to win Offensive Player of the Year for
- 40:04Speaker 1: not just for running backs, for everybody involved. He's a
- 40:08Speaker 1: plus seven point fifty with Bijon right behind him, which,
- 40:11Speaker 1: by the way, speaks to the running back renaissance that
- 40:14Speaker 1: we opened up this conversation with the fact that the
- 40:16Speaker 1: two guys at the top of the heap not Jamar Chase,
- 40:19Speaker 1: not JSN. We're talking about two of the top running
- 40:22Speaker 1: backs in the game. Emery Hunt breaks it down, unlike
- 40:25Speaker 1: any other football game, plan is how you can find
- 40:27Speaker 1: them also on CBS Sports. Emory thanks so much for
- 40:30Speaker 1: the time. We really appreciate it.
- 40:32Speaker 5: Fun chat have me on and allowed me to get
- 40:34Speaker 5: on my soapbox for at least twenty five minutes.
- 40:37Speaker 2: We'll definitely do it again.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Then I'll do it for us in today's episode special
