- 0:02My wallet is sobbing. I can hear it.
- 0:04I can hear it in the hall now. It is breaking down crying.
- 0:08It turns out that Attila the arrogant soul.
- 0:11And so he's got a fake hammer. Oh.
- 0:13A fake? Yeah.
- 0:14Whoa. As I say, Dick.
- 0:17Welcome to episode 128 of the Religions Podcast.
- 0:22And this week we're going to do a little recap on some stuff
- 0:25that's been going on, and we're going to do our own mythic
- 0:29legions, chess sets from the mind of Richard Jones.
- 0:34You came up with this one, Rich. So tell us a little bit about
- 0:37what's going on here. Yeah, I just thought it'd be a
- 0:39fun idea to, you know, which, which characters would you use
- 0:42for each piece and why would you use them?
- 0:44You know, is it because they're big?
- 0:45Is it because they're, you know, royal?
- 0:48All those sort of things. What would be good good fun
- 0:50topic today? Definitely.
- 0:52And just trying to get your favorite characters in there.
- 0:54I found actually it was, it wasn't as easy as, you know,
- 0:58just stick in your top five. But in the end, I had to be more
- 1:02sensible than that. I think the thing I struggled
- 1:05the most was just trying to spread the love around the
- 1:06factions a little bit. Yeah.
- 1:09So with the with the one notable exception, you probably guess
- 1:11which one has known on the chess board.
- 1:14Everything else I had to get at least more.
- 1:18Love it, love it. And Mal, how are you?
- 1:20You got your test shots, did you and from Week 2 or did you pick
- 1:24up some? I haven't.
- 1:25Received them, but I did order. I got my yeah.
- 1:29That's from the that's from the first week though, right?
- 1:32Yes, yeah, yeah, Miles, the second week, wasn't it?
- 1:35Yeah. So what did you pick up then?
- 1:38So I went with Monkey King and Novian Lean in the first go
- 1:43round. You know when you could only
- 1:45pick two. I was surprised I got Monkey
- 1:47King. I thought so, yeah, I'm going to
- 1:49give it a go. It's one of my favorite figures
- 1:51across the. Yeah, I think he must have been
- 1:53got in there fast. That had to be the popular one.
- 1:56And then Novian Lean's one of my favourites as well.
- 1:58So I thought of that, OK. And then later on when they've
- 2:01lifted the limits, because I've thought about doing this anyway,
- 2:04I went back in and got Umbira, Jungira because her, she goes
- 2:10with Novian, doesn't she? So I thought that was a cool
- 2:12little pair to have so. And she probably won't be as
- 2:16smelly as the original she's. Probably still there as well if
- 2:20she poor poor thing is not a popular figure.
- 2:23It's amazing that like like what is it about Cosmics?
- 2:26They don't set like sell as fast even in the test shots.
- 2:29It's amazing. Now there was a lot of test
- 2:31shots and it is a you know, it's it's not for everybody.
- 2:34So there is a much smaller amount of people going for them,
- 2:38but there is also a much smaller quantity of them.
- 2:41So. But even then, Cosmics are not
- 2:45flying off the shelves for that. I know I.
- 2:47Just don't. Yeah, I guess sci-fi is not well
- 2:50within this community at least. And and to be fair, a lot of
- 2:53people probably came to the Horsemen via the fantasy side of
- 2:58things more so than they with he with Mattel and not Mattel.
- 3:02I think the new bigger space suits will help when they arrive
- 3:06later this year in the ox crew stuff and then that will
- 3:08definitely help. Yeah, true.
- 3:11Actually, I was listening to Riches Randoms this week.
- 3:15We've got new episodes 6 this week with the wonderful Curtis
- 3:20Ackerman. And he was talking about his
- 3:23cosmic collecting and one of the questions there and how he's
- 3:25just obsessed with the Tusk armor, anything with Tusk armor.
- 3:29So I think the question was about, you know, how is your
- 3:33collecting evolved or whatever over the time?
- 3:35And he said he's able to kind of leave certain figures he just
- 3:38knows he doesn't need. He used to be just all in and
- 3:40now he's like, maybe I'll get 10 of them instead of getting an
- 3:45all in get like 10 of the ones I like kind of thing or whatever
- 3:49number, you know. And yeah, it kind of made me
- 3:52think, Oh yeah, the Tuscamera is good and these new spacesuits
- 3:55are good. And I mean, I'm I'm pretty much
- 3:59all in on cosmic, I think anyway.
- 4:03Maybe not huge multiples like he might with mythics, but
- 4:07definitely love the figures and love doing customs with them.
- 4:09So I think that's the biggest fun I've been having with them
- 4:14over the last year. I.
- 4:16Think for me, not so much cosmic, but generally the all in
- 4:20aspect is a little bit of it. You know, there's so many.
- 4:24It's for me, yeah. No, not even that.
- 4:27It's there's so many in the wave.
- 4:29If I'm going to get that one, that one, that one, that one,
- 4:31the cost of yes, you know the cost of it, might as well get
- 4:34the wave and ship the wave over here and then pick.
- 4:37Up. Yeah, maybe you wouldn't.
- 4:38You'd be more like Curtis if you lived in America maybe or if
- 4:44there was more retailers than the UK charging the equivalent
- 4:47retail price instead of maybe the bad retail price that'd.
- 4:51Be the Holy Grail. Wouldn't it?
- 4:52Yeah, yeah. Would be sweet.
- 4:55Yeah. So test shots, eh?
- 4:58Exciting for those that got them.
- 5:00And you, you're hanging on to your smell.
- 5:02Are you going to Oh yeah, yeah. Display them.
- 5:04Umm. Yeah, I haven't decided how and
- 5:07what I'm going to do to display them, but yeah, definitely.
- 5:09Yeah, they were carefully selected for.
- 5:13Yeah, the ones that you want to keep.
- 5:14Exactly. Yeah, that's cool.
- 5:17And I won't ask you, Rich don't don't need to implicate
- 5:20yourself. Well, just just to be clear, you
- 5:24know, I got the Vampire Phalanx, which I will keep, and we'll go
- 5:26in the Vampire Phalanx box because I quite like that way
- 5:29displaying. And then I got callous here,
- 5:30which I may or may not keep. We'll see with them.
- 5:33That's. Cool, he's a good one.
- 5:34Still there. He's a very good one and the
- 5:36soft goods, despite being coloured on the website,
- 5:39actually came through with grey scale.
- 5:41Right. OK, Maybe they just didn't have
- 5:43them in time for the photos. Maybe.
- 5:45Yeah, that is very cool figure. It's one of those like do I
- 5:49don't I don't think the legions con because he'd be handy trade,
- 5:52you know, someone go and pick me up 3 figures from horse and
- 5:54Booth. It might be, you know, that sort
- 5:57of stuff. It might be case of specifically
- 5:59either for a trade less likely over here unfortunately, but
- 6:03even a trade that legions can if it's something you really,
- 6:06really like and you thought was earlier reach yeah, maybe you
- 6:09know or someone had this amazing custom that you didn't want to
- 6:14drop money on. But we're happy to trade the
- 6:16yeah, the test shot yeah, yeah. So that definitely yeah, it's a
- 6:21good idea yeah. And Silver Knight 2 then is also
- 6:27on the way. Shipping is not, I don't think
- 6:30it's on the way to any of us yet, but.
- 6:33No, not a notice room. No, but umm, exciting that
- 6:39that's coming. That's a really cool figure.
- 6:42I got three of them, I think I remember.
- 6:44Yeah, I've got 3 as well. Yeah, I've got 3 as well.
- 6:47I think it seemed to be well for you guys, it's under the 11
- 6:50whatever, 35 and for for me, just it was the sweet spot for
- 6:57the shipping where it didn't jump to the next tier.
- 6:59So and it's a nice number. I think, you know, I think maybe
- 7:04you could have one, although with so many cool custom heads,
- 7:08I just love putting different heads on nights, you know, be it
- 7:12like a just another cool human head sculpt that's out there or
- 7:18a cool helmet human has got the beauty is you don't have to
- 7:21match the. So that's what I'd be trying to
- 7:29convince people, that legions can, you know, this human, you
- 7:31could go on any of the nights, you know?
- 7:34I've just, I've just checked my spreadsheet because I list
- 7:36everything on that and I actually, Oh yeah, Silver
- 7:38Knights. OK, old liar lair pants on fire.
- 7:41Yes, that still came under 135. So yeah, I went 4.
- 7:45Well, 135 will be what people in America be dreaming of come as
- 7:50it next Friday week or this day. We yes, this is released because
- 7:54now they any parcels from outside of America from anywhere
- 7:59will be not exempt for anything. So they'll be paying imports,
- 8:03which kind of rubbish we've had to deal with for years.
- 8:06So I don't know how your post system will be ready for for
- 8:12that. But otherwise it'll be first
- 8:15it's going to be expensive anyway and 2nd, it's going to be
- 8:19a pain in the ass with all the admin that gets thrown on top of
- 8:22it. So I actually saw today article
- 8:26in the Luxembourg paper, the Belgian post have decided not to
- 8:30ship any parcels to America from Friday until they see how the
- 8:33situation goes to protect their customers.
- 8:37They said, yeah. So I mean, they're they're
- 8:40afraid of a lot of parcels being returned and, you know,
- 8:43obviously having to pay compensation or, you know, get
- 8:46claims of compensation or whatever it might be.
- 8:48So maybe sensible approach. Yeah, so if we're trying to ship
- 8:53stuff off to people before Legions gone, I think it had to
- 8:56go this week, Rich. Definitely, yes, I am.
- 9:00I sent a couple of parcels over to our wonderful friend Mr.
- 9:03Anthony House Seal. You said he'd take them in for
- 9:05us and then bring them down to the con.
- 9:07Yeah. So I'll be.
- 9:08Thank you, Anthony. You'd be like me, just carefully
- 9:12and stressfully looking at the shipping.
- 9:15He should get in before that Friday.
- 9:20Yeah, if if you can actually hear sobbing and it's not my
- 9:24wallet for this time, it's it's me from from Bristol, then yeah,
- 9:27I didn't get through it. I've been charged like $80 or
- 9:29something right to be released from customs.
- 9:31Yeah, it could be 80 per item, which would be even worse.
- 9:35I've heard. I don't know, you know, because
- 9:37there seems to be like a big hammer amount because they, you
- 9:41know, we don't want to do the calculation at the moment.
- 9:44So it's just there you go, fixed amount.
- 9:47Yeah, it's it says it's either between 80 and $200, regardless
- 9:51of the value of the package and everything for the first few
- 9:53months until they saw it all out.
- 9:55Yeah, so that could eat into the profit margins That leads its
- 9:58con big time. The tad just a tad.
- 10:02Yeah. So, well, fingers crossed.
- 10:04You know, this is the way the world.
- 10:05We're not. I don't have any specific
- 10:08opinions about it politically, but it's just a pain in the ass
- 10:12either way, you know? Anybody in any country should
- 10:14pay extra duty on something they bought for themselves is
- 10:19madness. Yeah, I've always been against
- 10:22and over here. Defensible and the UK government
- 10:24does it already and it's it's bullshit, quite frankly.
- 10:27There's like no need for it at. All it's double taxation really,
- 10:30isn't it? And then a gift to, you know,
- 10:33imagine you're living in America and your mom sends you a box of
- 10:38tea bags from home and a couple of packet of crisps and, you
- 10:42know, a couple of other things that you've missed from home.
- 10:46That's traditionally what all Irish people when they live
- 10:50abroad, you know, their mother sends them, you know, the six
- 10:52pack of potato crisps and whatever disgusting biscuits
- 10:56from your childhood that somehow still have a nostalgia value
- 10:59and. The amount of times.
- 11:01Irish chocolate or whatever, you know, Sorry.
- 11:03No, sorry, John. Yeah.
- 11:04The amount of times I've stood in the post office waiting to
- 11:06post something I've sold and the person in front of me sending
- 11:08something abroad and they've been asked what's in it and they
- 11:10said chocolate. It's always UK chocolate that
- 11:13they're sending out to relatives and friends abroad all.
- 11:16Mad Madam, it's, you know, it's the middle of the summer here
- 11:19and it's like 30° outside. You know that chocolate?
- 11:22Yeah. And it's going to Spain, and
- 11:27Spain is the curtain on fire, so you know.
- 11:29It will be hot chocolate when it gets there.
- 11:33Yeah. And then you'd have to pay for
- 11:35that as well. That's the absurdity.
- 11:36You know, it, it's a little bit different.
- 11:39When it's a commercial thing, you could kind of justify it.
- 11:42But when it's just moms sending their kids chocolate, crazy,
- 11:47crazy. But yeah, you know, it's always
- 11:50the bad, the, you know, the bad people that try and take
- 11:55advantage of the system that make it bad for the rest of us.
- 11:58Yeah, and it's just an easy cash grab for governments.
- 12:01Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, absolutely.
- 12:05Right. So should we get into, we've got
- 12:08a little bit of promoting to do now.
- 12:10So we've got a new sponsor. Sponsor's name is Rich.
- 12:16He's been busy designing heads with the sculptors for
- 12:19Allegiance Khan. And we're going to have what are
- 12:23we going to have numbers wise on the table, Rich then for?
- 12:27We will have 12 exclusive head sculpts at the event.
- 12:34We ramped it up from 2, didn't we?
- 12:36Yeah, we sort of, I say we, I got carried away.
- 12:40So 2 was a very sensible number and then I got involved and
- 12:47we've got 12 and we've also got a exclusive companion Beastie as
- 12:52well, right, that will be available.
- 12:55We do, yeah. That's going to be very exciting
- 12:57and we might might even have a little special box art for that
- 13:03and. Oh, we definitely will, Box.
- 13:06Yeah, that anything that works for the for the.
- 13:08I don't get people too excited but if anyone buys one of the
- 13:11exclusive sculpts then there will be a hand drawn print
- 13:17signed numbered to go with it from yours truly.
- 13:21I don't all Stampede at once. That's the selling point right
- 13:24there. But hopefully everybody likes
- 13:26them. I had a lot of fun working with
- 13:28General Luca to design them, and I know Mal with the Beastie, you
- 13:31had a lot of fun work with him as well to design that one.
- 13:35So yeah, hopefully people like them.
- 13:37What did I do? Oh, nothing, nothing.
- 13:40You weren't bothered this time. Yeah, you, you looked after the
- 13:46doors strings, Yeah. That's true.
- 13:48That's true. I, I, I it came to Dad every
- 13:51time to pay the bill. Yeah, and well, and thanks to
- 13:54our patrons and people that support the show for for
- 13:57allowing us to to to be a little bit more like that.
- 14:01But it is a little bit like one Starbucks has came to the
- 14:03village, they sold a few coffees and now there's like 12.
- 14:06That's kind of how it's gone this year.
- 14:09I'll be brutally honest, I'll say it quietly because my family
- 14:11aren't that far away. If I hadn't run out of money,
- 14:13I'd probably commissioned another 5 or 6 again.
- 14:16But I'm just flat broke now. I'm just gone.
- 14:19How many head? How many head stands do you
- 14:21have? Probably not enough.
- 14:25I have one and I'm keeping it at 1:00 because they're not because
- 14:29Anthony has it and I'm not. I'm not packing another one.
- 14:33Oh, I need to check and see see if Anthony still got mine
- 14:35actually. Oh, hopefully he does.
- 14:36That'll be very handy. Yeah, I'm sure he does know.
- 14:39Whether he knows it's yours or not is another thing.
- 14:41That's yes. Yeah.
- 14:44Well, we'll just we'll find out if he wants to go on Richie's
- 14:46randoms or not if there's a debate over the Head Start I.
- 14:49Can ask it added to your questions.
- 14:51Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 14:52Do you have my head? I'm taking over.
- 14:57I'm going to read a little intro and background to this, and then
- 15:02we're going to show you the first two of the exclusive
- 15:04sculpts. Anyone's watching news, you
- 15:07would have seen the first one quickly.
- 15:08Already. No, I'll cut it out, don't
- 15:09worry. Yeah, grand.
- 15:12The sculpts, people. I won't give anything too much
- 15:15away, but people shouldn't be so surprised if they've heard me
- 15:17talk at any length about the sort of sculpts I'd like to see
- 15:20in mythos, you know, the sort of stuff that's coming.
- 15:23But anyway, I am embracing the new, bigger mythos, the world of
- 15:29mythos. So I'm going to read.
- 15:32So certainly some of the sculpts anyway are going to be on other
- 15:35continents based on other continents.
- 15:38So I've got a little story about how the war, Second World, the
- 15:41Second World War, Second Great War went.
- 15:43There was a page not too long, then I have that's part of a
- 15:48page explaining how they got to the new continent and then we
- 15:52introduce the characters. So this is going to be.
- 15:53Grab your pillows, folks. Get ready, if you love Miles
- 15:57reading, you're going to hate mine.
- 16:00I'm not editing. I'm not editing that your flubs.
- 16:03Oh, that's fine. That's fine.
- 16:05What, you mean there's never any flubs?
- 16:10Wow, the uncut The uncut version is coming to a page on a.
- 16:17Lot of effing and blind dinners anyway.
- 16:22Sorry Rich, please. OK, all right then.
- 16:27So. After the Second Great War, the
- 16:30continent of Mythos was in a desperate state with many areas
- 16:33devastated by the war and great battles fought throughout it.
- 16:37No worries is more keenly felt than in the southern coastal
- 16:40communities. These small fishing villages and
- 16:42large ports alike had borne the initial brunt of the attacks
- 16:45from Necronominus and Poxus forces.
- 16:49We wave after wave of undead horrors and pestilence swept
- 16:52ashore and through their lands. Entire villages were obliterated
- 16:56by dark magics with a fall and then rising to become the undead
- 16:59horde and fight for the dark gods.
- 17:02In Ephidium. The resistance to these
- 17:04invasions was led by the mages of the Convocation of Basilia,
- 17:07who by chance happened to be stationed in the coastal
- 17:10villages. Although knowing they would be
- 17:13unable to withstand the vast forces Epoxus, they nevertheless
- 17:17stood their ground and did all they could.
- 17:19It is said barely a single mage from these areas survived, but
- 17:23through their bravery they did manage to save thousands of
- 17:26people across Afidian. Some mages sent entire villages
- 17:29to temporary dimensions where they were safe, others healed as
- 17:33much of the pestilence poxes spread before they themselves
- 17:36were cut down. In ethos, the large port cities
- 17:40put up a fierce resistance, but were doomed against the
- 17:43uncountable hordes of undead creatures that attacked them.
- 17:47Trading vessels of all sizes fled and took as many people as
- 17:50they could, but they still left hundreds of thousands left in
- 17:53the port cities themselves. It was here the now prominent
- 17:57Templar Order established themselves once more as one of
- 18:00the greatest forces for good in mythos.
- 18:03The order was sent by Sir Godfrey via the Templar
- 18:06Emissaries for each temple to hold firm no matter the cost.
- 18:13Each temple Master swore to uphold this order, and they and
- 18:16their men fought with a bravery that unless seen, would have
- 18:19been thought as mystical. Though through the Templar
- 18:23actions, 10s of thousands of lives were saved.
- 18:26The hordes of undead were slowed up for weeks by the Templar's
- 18:29actions, allowing the armies of Etheros to assemble in full
- 18:32readiness for the Great War to come.
- 18:36The greatest rearguard action of this campaign was led by the
- 18:38temple within the port city of Rukfaros.
- 18:42Their story is for another time, but even the mortally wounded
- 18:45Thoracis, the first born himself, spoke of their valor
- 18:49and military might before his existence was ended by
- 18:51Gwendolyn, Heaven's Brand after the final great battle.
- 18:55The surviving populations returned to their destroyed
- 18:58cities and villages after the war, but there was so little
- 19:01left. They realized they would
- 19:02struggle to survive here now, and so decided to roam further
- 19:06afield. With the rest of Mythos in
- 19:08ruins, they saw no other option but to set sail to see what
- 19:12other land, if any, could be found across the vast oceans.
- 19:18So that sets the scene gents. We have a death of a major
- 19:21player. Terrasses.
- 19:22I did. I know he's one of your
- 19:23favourites, John. I took particularly in that one.
- 19:26Yeah, it wasn't why, but I did. It did add real thing of
- 19:29experiment to it, yeah. Brett, we love to give him a dig
- 19:32in the ribs. Thankfully Brett sent my parcel,
- 19:36otherwise he might be binning it.
- 19:40That was a that was that was beautifully read and written.
- 19:44I thank you. Yeah, I suppose.
- 19:48Let's be honest, Ma, there's probably less flubs and stuff
- 19:50you write yourself because you're kind of, it's in your own
- 19:54voice. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:55Exactly, Yeah. So and yeah, I know for me last
- 20:00last week with reading the stuff, I hadn't done enough pre
- 20:03reading, which is why I like hopefully people didn't notice
- 20:08it, but there was definitely a couple of lines we had to do
- 20:12multiple times and also. And a couple of lines were maybe
- 20:19the pacing from me wasn't as good as it should have been, but
- 20:22anyway. Gents, I listened to the show
- 20:24this morning. It was superb.
- 20:27Don't need a disservice. Thank you.
- 20:28Absolutely great. Like sound effects, the voices,
- 20:33I'll be honest, the the paladin from the end all freaked me out
- 20:37a little bit. Now I didn't like.
- 20:38That voice, it was a bit. Creepy for my liking, but
- 20:41otherwise it was all. Sent to me, yeah.
- 20:44To what for your liking? Freaky, creepy freaky was just
- 20:48like, yeah. Yeah, but he was written that
- 20:50way. He was written as a kind of a
- 20:51bit of an arrogant, kind of, you know, pompous a bit, I don't
- 20:55know. And Halver definitely had to
- 20:58wind you up as House of the Noble Bear and being a bit, you
- 21:01know, full of himself. Oh.
- 21:03No, no, I was too busy listening to the the Irish lilt of Little
- 21:07Burger. So Burgie or his name is.
- 21:11Thank you. Yeah, I know.
- 21:13Yeah. Curtis doesn't listen to audio,
- 21:15so he won't probably have heard it.
- 21:17Maybe he's seen the Instagram. Really.
- 21:18I dropped. But yeah, I hope he doesn't get
- 21:22too upset that he's character now.
- 21:24Sounds like somebody from West Kerry.
- 21:28And we we do plan to do these the yeah hearts 5 to 8 was it we
- 21:34haven't we just. We need we need a bit more
- 21:38energy. Well, I definitely do.
- 21:39I'm I'm a little bit rundown after my holidays.
- 21:42So I thought would be better to do regular episode this week and
- 21:46I think we all agree. Yeah, definitely.
- 21:49And excellent, Rich. So OK, that's the scene.
- 21:52So that's the scene. So now you want to talk about
- 21:56no, no, no pictures. OK, old, old.
- 21:59As Mel Gibson said, it breaks off.
- 22:06So let's go. One group, after weeks at sea,
- 22:09came across a small group of islands which looked suitable
- 22:12for possible settling. No one from Mythos will have
- 22:15come this far, and so it's ours, was the thought that went
- 22:17through their minds. However, they were in for a
- 22:19shock when they landed. As they walked up the beautiful
- 22:22sandy beach they heard what they first thought was Thunder, then
- 22:26they thought maybe a rockslide, and then they realized it was
- 22:28clapping and chanting. They froze in the knowledge this
- 22:32island was not only populated but populated by many people.
- 22:36They debated returning to their boats but the thoughts are going
- 22:39back to sea was too much for some.
- 22:41Then the choice was taken out of their hands when a group of what
- 22:44appeared to be anthropomorphic fish beings surrounded them out
- 22:48of nowhere. The leader of the Group, A
- 22:51hammerhead shark, pointed towards the interior, and the
- 22:55group were moved that way by the points of Spears and tridents.
- 22:58As they crested the hill, they saw before them a city size
- 23:01settlement of what appeared to be huts made from coral,
- 23:05seashells and bones. In the center stood a tall
- 23:08building, primarily made of the bones of what must have been
- 23:11monstrously sized creatures in life.
- 23:14This was where the chanting was coming from, and they presumed
- 23:17it was a temple of some sort. They were herded through the
- 23:20narrow streets towards the temple, being glared up by every
- 23:23fish person they passed. The fishermen and traders among
- 23:27the group recognized species of marine life they knew among the
- 23:30inhabitants, such as puffer fish, various shark species, and
- 23:34even rays. They had no idea how these
- 23:36creatures had transformed to look like men, but they were too
- 23:39scared to ponder on that for very long.
- 23:41It wasn't any fish people there, however.
- 23:43There were also humans and other races from mythos.
- 23:47Their encouragement at seeing these familiar races soon
- 23:50disappeared, however, when they realized those races were all in
- 23:53chains. These people were clearly
- 23:55enslaved by the fish peoples. As they reached the temple, the
- 24:00chanting reached a crescendo and they could finally make out what
- 24:04was being chanted. It was one word repeated over
- 24:07and over again. Daku waka, Daku waka, Daku waka.
- 24:13The hammer told them to stop and beat 1 member of the group who
- 24:16didn't stop quickly enough. The Ancient Ones will now judge
- 24:19you as workers or food. He announced they alone can
- 24:23judge for daka waka. Suddenly drum beats began.
- 24:28The chanting crowd hushed and out of the temple entrance
- 24:31strode 2 brightly coloured figures adorned with tattoos.
- 24:35These sea species were unknown to the Mythos Mythosonians, but
- 24:40they were a terrifying sight to behold.
- 24:42I've. Got to say something, you were
- 24:46bananas. Brit to say.
- 24:48I love that they batter their food before they eat it.
- 24:54Fish. They're obviously Scottish.
- 24:56Thank. You thank you.
- 25:00Amazing thank you. So you're a bananas.
- 25:04Wacker is actually a shark God from the Fijian culture, so
- 25:08isn't it still that Yes. That does sound like some sort
- 25:11of a chant that you know, like a hacker chant for rugby or
- 25:16whatever. You know that maybe the Fijians
- 25:17do, right? So so 2 brightly coloured
- 25:20creatures walk out. John shows the first head
- 25:23sculpt. Boom.
- 25:26Here we go. So for anyone who's not watching
- 25:29this on YouTube, we have a shark man head sculpt.
- 25:32Can't believe you. Can't believe you did that shark
- 25:35head do. You know what I mean?
- 25:36I never mentioned them on the show at all.
- 25:38So it's it's a genuine surprise. Yeah, so I wanted to do sharks,
- 25:43but there's been a few sharks out there, head sculpts people
- 25:46have done, so I want to do something a bit different.
- 25:47So I went for prehistoric sharks.
- 25:51So having spent more time than I'd like to mention Googling
- 25:54prehistoric sharks and which ones looked cool, I found a
- 25:58couple. There was three that were really
- 25:59good, and I went with two of them in the end.
- 26:02So here's the sculpt. It was expertly sculpted by John
- 26:05Luca, who's GN Art does lots of stuff for other the like actual
- 26:10company sort of thing like. Borderlands and stuff.
- 26:17Yeah, he's worked for everybody. He's a great sculptor.
- 26:20So here's the first one. So it is a bonker shark sculpt
- 26:24with rows of very big teeth. It's got a fin on the back of
- 26:29its head and it's also got a flat a raised but flat fin on
- 26:34the top of its head with little nodules.
- 26:36For the audio audio listeners, imagine those scrubbers you have
- 26:39in your shower, you know, for for doing your back there.
- 26:43There's ones like that, you know.
- 26:45Yes. And in the actual shark the the
- 26:48flat fin was further down its back, but obviously you know for
- 26:51a fact to go at the top of its head.
- 26:53Yeah, yeah. So John, have you got the the
- 26:57full custom figure to show next? There we go there.
- 27:00We go. It's already.
- 27:01Painted. So there is the figure.
- 27:04This was wonderfully painted by Mark Calver and Mark printed as
- 27:07well. So thank you very much indeed
- 27:09Mark for that. So here is the first of the two
- 27:12brightly coloured figures. It's using a Azar and ILGA body
- 27:20combinations there and then the. Trident, you got the patina from
- 27:24ILGA. Yes, and the Trident is from
- 27:27Aliexpress, of course. No, go ahead.
- 27:30Very cool. Yeah.
- 27:31Just just like that, not painted and like that's how it.
- 27:34Can comes like that, yeah. Wow.
- 27:38And then there's a little bit of like hessian on the waist paste
- 27:41because when I put them together, I realized that the
- 27:42Olga weight belt didn't cover the top of the legs, so.
- 27:47OK. I think, I think they're having
- 27:48talked about all that. We should clarify it is the head
- 27:51sculpt we will have, not that particular one, but a version of
- 27:55the head sculpt will be for sale there.
- 27:56Will be unpainted head sculpts for sale?
- 27:59Yes, so you can paint it a normal grey color anything you
- 28:02want. It can be a space shark, bright
- 28:05colors, just whatever you. Want if you want to use it on a
- 28:09zenith on the grey body, that's a good one for Sharkman as well.
- 28:14Yeah, so really nicely done here.
- 28:17The yellow. So this obviously fits in with
- 28:19your story. Basically, this is the character
- 28:21it does. Unfortunately, we've shown these
- 28:23in the wrong order and I should have told you that.
- 28:24So can we see the second one as well, John?
- 28:25Because the stories don't make sense if we do outboard.
- 28:27OK. And here is sorry, I thought
- 28:30that's poor planning on my behalf.
- 28:32And here is the second head sculpt.
- 28:34This is a really unusual shark from the prehistoric period.
- 28:38Its main feature is that it has just one row of teeth right down
- 28:42the middle of its mouth on the top and bottom.
- 28:45So there's no teeth around the sides.
- 28:47It's just down the middle, which is a bizarre adaptation.
- 28:50I'm not quite sure why, you know why it evolved like that, but it
- 28:55did. So, yeah, so sharp man head.
- 28:57One set of teeth on the lower jaw in the middle, one set in
- 29:00the upper jaw and then a cool shark fin on the top.
- 29:03And then some battle damage here as well.
- 29:07Yes, there's some battle damage on the fins and then there's
- 29:09some gills on the side as well and a bit of battle damage there
- 29:12as well. So real bruiser.
- 29:14You can tell he's a badass. Yeah.
- 29:17And you want to see the the custom then?
- 29:20And let's see the painted Custom 1.
- 29:22So here we go again, wonderfully painted by Mark So it uses a
- 29:26Zazar body and an ILGA combination, Mythelegions
- 29:31Trident and a shield from Aliexpress.
- 29:33It's. A very cool shield as well.
- 29:35It is some great stuff out there, Rich.
- 29:38Just just get like a dozen of these.
- 29:39It's just sellers like you know, for 10 bucks on the table I
- 29:43think. Well people have heard me send
- 29:44us like £4. Now I'm going to be like, you
- 29:45know, lynched. We're trying to sign up for a
- 29:47tenner at the event. You you, you did all the hard
- 29:51work getting them delivered. Don't get me wrong, I'm not
- 29:52saying that thought didn't go through my head when I ordered
- 29:55these and I did debate it, but no.
- 29:58OK. OK, yeah.
- 30:01So it's the the heads painted blue.
- 30:03Obviously you can see a little bit better, if better if people
- 30:05zoom in, you can see that the one row of teeth in the top and
- 30:09the bottom right then. So here we go.
- 30:13Here come the stories. The first of the two creatures
- 30:16was clearly a shark of some kind, but the Mythosians had
- 30:20never seen a bright blue shark before.
- 30:22He was cladding what appeared to be ancient armor, corroding and
- 30:25oxidizing. He carried a shield bearing
- 30:27water serpents and a Trident weapon.
- 30:30But it was when he spoke that he truly became strange.
- 30:33His teeth were not around the outside of his mouth, but
- 30:36instead they were down the middle.
- 30:39Lord Eddies said the Hammerhead. These outsiders have arrived on
- 30:42our holy shores without. The Hammerhead bowed and stepped
- 30:46back from the prone prisoners. The intimidating blue shark
- 30:49slammed his shield into the ground so hard the ground itself
- 30:52shook. He then approached the Mythosins
- 30:55and walked slowly around the group, raising some of their
- 30:57heads with the point of his Trident.
- 31:00Humans have reached our shores, Stack.
- 31:03He said to the other brightly coloured shark.
- 31:05We have haunted them and enslaved them for millennia, but
- 31:08now they have found our lands. We must take this news to the
- 31:12Council of Ancients. Anyone who's listened or watched
- 31:15our podcast knows Hive. Big thing for sharks and I would
- 31:19love to become Canon in mythos one day.
- 31:21This is me just talking generally.
- 31:23I should have made that clear. In the meantime I wanted to do
- 31:27some creations on my own. So this is based on an actual
- 31:30prehistoric shark called Edestus was the species.
- 31:34Nobody wants to look it up. OK.
- 31:38And then go back to the yellow guy for a second job?
- 31:40Yeah, of course. So this is Steph, the guy he was
- 31:44talking to. Let us think on this my friend.
- 31:47Replied the bright yellow shark to Lord Eddie's.
- 31:50If this is the start of the expansion of the peoples of the
- 31:52North Continent into the wider world of Mythos, then it is not
- 31:56just a matter for the Ocean clans.
- 31:59The rest of mythos be damned, replied Eddie's.
- 32:01We rule the oceans and are the true masters of all the other
- 32:05continents and the empires within them would disagree, said
- 32:08Steph. The Audra Baya theory is backed
- 32:10by a dragon, one who if reported to be relieved, has woken again.
- 32:15Let us question the humans first to know if this is the start of
- 32:18an expansion or an invasion. The other creatures here can be
- 32:22food for the people. Take them away and we will feast
- 32:26tonight. With that the Hammerhead and
- 32:28other guards took the non humans away.
- 32:31The remaining mythos IANS were herded to a building away from
- 32:34the temple to await their fate. So there we go.
- 32:39Amazing. Great bias.
- 32:41Yeah, very cool. So I wasn't planning to make the
- 32:43shark people evil, but they are full on evil.
- 32:46Yeah, and I managed to do a close up here of the shark teeth
- 32:52down the middle, so you get a good view there.
- 32:54Look at that. So that is, I hadn't noticed
- 32:58that when I was, even when I was looking at the sculpt itself and
- 33:03turning it and twisting it to get the screenshots.
- 33:06That's amazing. It's just a really cool feature
- 33:08and a genuine thing, you know? It's yeah, yeah.
- 33:12Evolved from that. So people can, you know, people
- 33:16can paint these any color they want, obviously, but I've gone I
- 33:18Despair, Zaza and Azar around. So it was like, let's go
- 33:21brightly colored. Yeah, it works.
- 33:23Do you think? I wanted them as they were, as
- 33:25your ancient sharks. The one didn't stand out.
- 33:27So I've got like three other sharks or we'll have a couple of
- 33:31being painted one by John here, which will be more like a grey
- 33:35sort of thing. So I wanted these to stand out.
- 33:39And do you think that humans may ever evolve from this kind of
- 33:45teeth configuration you imagine? What's the We'll have this type
- 33:50of teeth? No, we did like back in the, you
- 33:54know. The same point if you go far
- 33:56enough back. Yeah, so that's grim, isn't it?
- 34:02It may clean your teeth easier, or they might gag a little bit.
- 34:04It's got to the back. The teeth go all the way back on
- 34:07the tongue. Maybe, maybe.
- 34:10Yeah, There we go. So.
- 34:17So that's the first two of the the 12 exclusives.
- 34:21Keep watching the show guys. We'll be showing the rest over
- 34:24the next few weeks. I'll also put the the figures up
- 34:27on on the Cabal or on Instagram with the BIOS and everything
- 34:32there as well for people. And as I said, there'll be
- 34:34unpainted versions of the scopes available exclusively from the
- 34:37Eurolegions podcast table at legions.com.
- 34:42There you go. And we also had some more stuff
- 34:47to promote for our friends. That right?
- 34:50We do, yes. So good friend of the show Mark
- 34:53Calvin, I said he painted the Sharks and me.
- 34:55He's been working with Diego, who goes by MO Away on
- 34:59Instagram. Really good sculptor.
- 35:01We've shown loads of his stuff recently.
- 35:03Yeah. And Mark's a great sculptor and
- 35:05painter and everything. And the two of them have been
- 35:06working in collaboration on some things to go with all the new
- 35:11nights that we've had out recently.
- 35:14Right. And they will be launching the,
- 35:17sorry, John, they'd be launched launching these for sale in the
- 35:22next couple of days. It's so probably Saturday when
- 35:26people are listening to this. OK.
- 35:27So it's a it's it's not allegiance counting.
- 35:30This is a. It's not no.
- 35:31And they're selling the SDLS so people can buy them and print
- 35:34them out themselves. I think you did originally say
- 35:37Friday. So it might be as people are
- 35:40listening to this that they they're up for sale, perhaps,
- 35:44yeah. So.
- 35:46Yeah, so, so basically it's they've designed a range of
- 35:50helmets that fit over the new Knights heads.
- 35:54So like Sir Elijah Serenoch, Adelrich, the skeletal versions
- 36:00of them obviously. So there's 12345 I think it's
- 36:04like 5 or 6 different heads. You go on like a very
- 36:09traditional crusader tile style, quite tall, pointed on with a
- 36:12nose shield. But then a bit of a helmet that
- 36:16goes underneath it. You got on the full face shield.
- 36:20You got Conquistador style one. I really love that one.
- 36:24You got another one with a lower face shield with this black
- 36:27breathing stuff through. And then just a couple of more
- 36:31like man arms type helmets that you might see on a knight
- 36:34wearing or a medieval soldier wearing as well.
- 36:37And then they've also done one head sculpt as well to go with
- 36:40it. So there's a human knight head
- 36:42sculpt which is amazing, as well as parts of the set.
- 36:47Yeah. Umm, shall I play the little
- 36:49video that Mark sent? Yes.
- 36:52Can Tuesday's work? There you go.
- 36:57You can pop the helmets on. This is all done over the
- 37:04chainmail skeleton face. So that comes with Elijah, is
- 37:08it? Yes, yeah.
- 37:10But they'll, they'll fit over, I don't reckon.
- 37:12And all those sort of head sculpts, basically.
- 37:16It'd probably fit on skeleton builders and that.
- 37:18They probably would. Yeah, they probably would.
- 37:21And there's some more painted versions of course, Spectrum,
- 37:26Merck. Yeah, and he's used a Valiant
- 37:28night body for these, but obviously, you know, there's
- 37:32plenty of night bodies out there and available, including some of
- 37:34the cheap Legion builders still as well.
- 37:35So yeah, these are and they look, I don't know about you
- 37:39guys, but I think these look amazing.
- 37:41Yeah, they're awesome. Yeah, really cool.
- 37:44Again, it's just it's just extra character you can give to your
- 37:46figures about having to do too much.
- 37:49Yeah, and there's the one with the face mask.
- 37:54Yeah, and there's that Conquistador.
- 37:56I love that one. Yeah, it's kind of so well done
- 37:59guys. And I mean, always great to have
- 38:04people collaborating. So Diego with the designs and
- 38:07then that's my way do I Diego? Yeah.
- 38:10He is, yes. And then mark with the printing
- 38:13and painting, so you've all your bases covered there.
- 38:17Yeah, no, great stuff. And I said not.
- 38:22So these aren't exclusives or anything.
- 38:23They'll be available for sale Friday or Saturday as SDLS and
- 38:26I'm sure Mark will print some paints.
- 38:28I'm sure there'll be people that will have them as as prints and
- 38:33maybe even painted versions eventually.
- 38:35Yeah, as Rich finishes his McDonald's.
- 38:40Whatever. Milkshake.
- 38:42Milkshake, what did you? The the the sugar is the only
- 38:46thing keep me awake. I'll be honest.
- 38:50Like I got water in my LFC glass mouth.
- 38:53Wow. To keep me first, keep my thirst
- 38:57dealt with. But yeah, I need the sugar of
- 38:58milkshake. Yeah, football is back.
- 39:01There you go. And balls back United are losing
- 39:05already. It's all back to normal.
- 39:06I mean, you know, give them, let's give it a couple of weeks
- 39:09because Oh yeah. I mean, that was a match that
- 39:12was, you know, wasn't probably they expecting to win at the
- 39:15moment? I think United have to win all
- 39:18the the crappy games that they weren't winning now.
- 39:21Isn't that it? Yeah.
- 39:22Yeah. And then and then you look for.
- 39:25Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 39:26That'll take care of itself. Yeah.
- 39:28Yeah. I know, but I can't just dig in
- 39:30a mile a little bit. He knows.
- 39:31It's fun, yeah. And then American football will
- 39:33be starting up in September. So yeah, then we're back.
- 39:36Yes, I was looking forward to that.
- 39:38And then the Commanders have had a couple of absolute thumpings
- 39:40in preseason, so. OK, we'll see how that goes.
- 39:44Did they did they get any new players in or?
- 39:47Oh yeah, signed loads of new players.
- 39:48Yeah. And the preseason is it's like
- 39:49the web Premier League football pre season, you can lose every
- 39:52game. It doesn't matter what happens
- 39:54when the you know, it goes live that you know a lot of players
- 39:57are rested or don't play much and that sort of stuff.
- 39:59So it's. Right.
- 40:02Shall we get into this mythic legions chest thing then?
- 40:06Because otherwise we might. And last at the end, is that
- 40:10right? Will you guys be fine?
- 40:13I'd be like. Yeah, well, after a milkshake.
- 40:15I mean, I wouldn't, you know, I'd either be on my way to the
- 40:19bathroom or asleep. Yeah.
- 40:21Hopefully that doesn't occur, but if I did jump up all of a
- 40:24sudden, we know the milkshakes gone through me.
- 40:27OK, so chess, I'm sure everyone is on some level familiar with
- 40:32chess. So these are the pieces that are
- 40:35in play. And we got the king, the the one
- 40:38that you're trying to kill. That is the goal in chess to get
- 40:41to kill the game. And you got the queen, the
- 40:44Bishop, the knight, the Rook, and the pawn.
- 40:47So the pawn, there's eight of them.
- 40:50I don't know how you guys have approached it.
- 40:52I've just kind of gone for two different types of legion
- 40:56builder for each set of pawns. Yeah, I have to.
- 41:00Yeah, Mal's face suggests. He hasn't.
- 41:02No, no, no, I'm going to let others go first because I have a
- 41:05feeling I might have stolen something Rich was thinking of.
- 41:09If not, then. OK.
- 41:12And and what we're going to do just to be clear.
- 41:14So there's a in chess, white plays against black and we're
- 41:18going to do white as the legions of light and black as the
- 41:21legions of dark. So that's how we're going to do
- 41:24the the sets. And, and there is in chess
- 41:28there's 2 bishops, there's 2 Knights and two rooks.
- 41:30So, you know, I mean, obviously in chess it's just two of the
- 41:33same pieces, but we're not going to be that boring.
- 41:35I don't think so I've done two different characters for each of
- 41:40those pieces, one king, 1 queen and bonds.
- 41:44As we said, a couple of legion builders from the different
- 41:49groupings. A little bit about chess.
- 41:52So chess can be chased traced back to the ancient Indian game
- 41:57of Chaturanga. I'm sure it butchered that
- 42:01pronunciation, but that sounds sounds about how it's spelled.
- 42:05So, you know, can't go. But in that 6th century that is
- 42:09from and the pieces represented the different divisions of the
- 42:13military. So including infantry, which are
- 42:16the pawns, the cavalry, which are the Knights and elephants in
- 42:21Indian culture back then. So that's the bishops.
- 42:24So I don't know how it got from elephants to bishops, but I
- 42:27think I've definitely I've kind of kept on bishopy, but not not
- 42:34not fully with the I haven't gone full religious with the
- 42:37bishops. I have to say more the the
- 42:41slightly higher ranking generals and then the rooks castles, you
- 42:46might know them as as well. They were the Chariots in the
- 42:50original game. So you can imagine the Chariots
- 42:53with the with the horses and the guy on the thing.
- 42:57So the real I would say that's kind of big, the big bruisers.
- 43:04Yeah. And these pieces, along with the
- 43:07King and his counsellor, which evolved into the Queen and
- 43:13formed the basis of the game. So I think that's an interesting
- 43:19context to talk about it. It is, and I can confirm, I mean
- 43:23very quickly. Googled it and I'm sure whatever
- 43:25AI told me was correct that it changed from an elephant to a
- 43:29Bishop in the 12th century when the game right in Europe where
- 43:32elephants weren't. Yeah, never knew what elephant
- 43:34was. So, so elephants were cool and
- 43:36we decided, uh, let's go over. We're in Europe now, let's make
- 43:40it boring. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 43:43So apologies for that. And, you know, in the Indian
- 43:48culture, I suppose, and, and there's a lot of good Indian
- 43:52chess players these days. So, you know, it's still a very
- 43:56popular game over there. So how are we going to, are we
- 43:59going to do this? I think, I think it would be
- 44:01incoherent if we just went piece for piece.
- 44:04So I think we'll go one person's lights at the other person's
- 44:09lights at the other person's, you know, do step by step how we
- 44:12do that, Rich as it was your idea.
- 44:15You can go first to set the ground rules and myself and Mal
- 44:17can scramble in the background if we realize we have completely
- 44:22messed it up. Sticking with mine.
- 44:24I like mine so I'm sticking. With whatever or you can reframe
- 44:30it. I'll start off by saying that I
- 44:35tried to spread the love around the various factions.
- 44:37You're always spreading the love.
- 44:39With one very, very notable exception.
- 44:42Who's got no entrance on this list.
- 44:44If you listen to the show, you'll know which faction that
- 44:46is. Yeah, but the Legions of Light
- 44:48do not include this faction. They sort of do.
- 44:51They helped him in the war. Yeah they do in mine and there's
- 44:54some non legions of dark in my. Dark.
- 44:57I have. I have.
- 44:59I have not included them or the red sun.
- 45:03So there you go. Goodman John, get those filthy
- 45:06Barbarians out. OK, right then.
- 45:09So as the King, I would have Ethan.
- 45:14So a super majestic with that cool armor.
- 45:18I inspires loyalty. I mean, what else do you need in
- 45:22the King? I'm not going to go through too
- 45:25many bullets for each of these. That's just, I thought that was
- 45:27a really cool figure. Yeah, and we're not doing
- 45:29pictures for all of these because you've got there's time
- 45:32for that. You can go to source Sourceman.
- 45:34If you don't know what ether on looks like though, why you
- 45:36listen to this? If you don't, let's be honest.
- 45:41Then for the Queen, I have Zylona.
- 45:44Good. She's the most real of the four
- 45:46great beasts, yeah, Regal Queen. And when her antlers are back in
- 45:51their battle pose, she is super powerful.
- 45:53And the Queen is obviously the most powerful piece on the
- 45:55board, so. This this I had forgotten about
- 45:58but I know I'm really hoping they do the announcement of the
- 46:03Zealona 2 because. We're the That'd be amazing.
- 46:09And if they don't do it, I'd see who you're which of the Four
- 46:11Horsemen employees you're chasing her and legions can't
- 46:14train, correct it or give out about it.
- 46:19OK, so my first Bishop, so I thought religious ish.
- 46:24So I had to pick somebody from the orderly throne.
- 46:27So it was Surrogatius. It's got wonderful pleasant
- 46:31armor, so very flashy armor and those sort of winged helmets
- 46:35attachments gives that sort of angelic feel to him.
- 46:37So I thought he'd be a good fit. And then for Bishop 2 is Harris
- 46:41Serpent Spire. Oh, that's a nice that was a bit
- 46:44left field. Yeah, she looks like a priestess
- 46:46of sorts, so again, fits in with the religious think.
- 46:48Drived as a priestess. Oh yeah, and she has a very
- 46:52fancy staff and like bishops, like medieval bishops always had
- 46:55the fancy Staffs and I'm sure it's a technical term for them,
- 46:58but the fancy stuff. So I went for her the.
- 47:02Two biggest stuff. Yeah.
- 47:05Oh God, yeah, it doesn't. She can't hold it, but it's
- 47:08there. My hair is arm is like that even
- 47:12though it used to be like that. Our hand, Sorry.
- 47:17She's just, she's just having a good time right then.
- 47:21So for the Knights first up, it had to be Magnus.
- 47:30Go on, do your Magnus smell? Sorry do your Magnus voice, I
- 47:34forgot. What it was, well, it was
- 47:37something like this. Wasn't.
- 47:38Yeah. This is a flash forward to the
- 47:41next recording. It's like, how did we do that?
- 47:43But yeah. Yeah, fortunately they do.
- 47:47The ones I remember. You're true.
- 47:50He's the baddest knight in mythos, so he's got to be in the
- 47:52chess set. Yeah.
- 47:53And how can you not have that head sculpt in the set?
- 47:57It's a beautiful beard. It's a beautiful head sculpt.
- 47:59So I had to get him in. It's like you were here,
- 48:01basically. Yeah, pretty much, and a lot
- 48:04less grey. Oh, well, we don't know.
- 48:06I mean, what age is Magnus? I mean, you didn't have Gray at
- 48:08some point. Pray he's probably about there
- 48:13anyway. I always imagine.
- 48:15He uses. Maybe he's just for Magnus men.
- 48:18I guess I imagine a bit like Chuck Norris.
- 48:20So Magnus doesn't go grey, grey goes Magnus.
- 48:27He's a dirty girl. OK, then, and for the second
- 48:33night, so I went a little bit off piece here and the night to
- 48:37me is the sneaky thing. You know, there's no like
- 48:39horizontal movements and vertical and diagonal.
- 48:42It's like, no, I'm just going to go over.
- 48:44I want within reason. They start to nail.
- 48:46Yeah, they they start going all over the place.
- 48:48So I wanted something sneaky. So I'm with Kai Patcher.
- 48:52Oh yeah. So yeah, he's a sneaky little so
- 48:56and so moving in all directions, and he strikes when you least
- 48:59expect it. Umm, this is probably my
- 49:02Neptitude at chess as much as anything that I think.
- 49:04Where do that might come from? What the hell?
- 49:06Yeah, in one of the original versions of chess, apparently
- 49:11the queen also could do the night move as well.
- 49:14Oh really? That would No, that would spice
- 49:17things up, Yeah. The Queen doing the night always
- 49:19spices things up a bit. The Authorian version.
- 49:23It is right then. So for my I'll be referring to
- 49:30the rooks as castles because that's what I've always called
- 49:32them. So base my figures on that.
- 49:34So castle number one, it's Fawnus.
- 49:37Oh, good one, yeah. So we can literally move the
- 49:39walls of Castle Silverhorn. So, you know, and as you say, a
- 49:45sturdy tree root type of guy. So he's the first castle and
- 49:49then the second castle is the serpent Spire Royal guard.
- 49:54They guard things. Castles have guards.
- 49:58Oh, that's one of the snakes that we haven't got yet.
- 50:01They're an ancient race. Castles generally are ancient.
- 50:06Unlike castles, they're appreciated more as they get
- 50:09older. They grow tails into their legs.
- 50:11Castles send to tourist attractions and people flock
- 50:14around them and then the pawns so for.
- 50:18The All I know. Can you just imagine that as a
- 50:20chesset? How magnificent that back roll.
- 50:23It would look like just. You know, so carved grand and
- 50:27like kind of, I don't know, ivory or granity looking pieces,
- 50:31even wood. Let's be honest of those
- 50:33characters. Oh well, I mean, they've done,
- 50:36you know, such a good job with the the bottle stoppers.
- 50:39Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 50:40You know, yeah, chess set surely is a the kind of way to go.
- 50:44You might even do it in exactly the same style, couldn't you say
- 50:47yes rather than yeah, yeah. Yeah, absolutely.
- 50:52And then for the pawns. So I wanted a uniformed look for
- 50:54the good guys. So I went, Oh no, this is good
- 50:57guys, sorry. Yeah, yeah.
- 50:58So I went for the Templar Knight Legion builder for the first
- 51:01half, interspersed with a Templar Relic Guard Legion
- 51:04builder. Oh.
- 51:05That works you've. Got the crosses, very similar
- 51:08helmets, the Reds and the whites and the blacks and silvers, so
- 51:12quite a good mix of colours and you know, they're both great
- 51:16generic Knights looks as well. So.
- 51:18So that is my legions of light chess set.
- 51:21Very good would buy it. So that's mere you then, Mel go.
- 51:27For it, you can go there, yeah. OK.
- 51:29So have some crossover it. So yeah, so which is what?
- 51:33About to be there. I think if you listen back, the
- 51:35ones that I was most vociferously agreeing with were
- 51:39the ones that crossed over and King I've gone with.
- 51:44I knew somebody would pick ether on and I don't have him so I
- 51:49don't have this one either, but I do.
- 51:51I will have him lead this year as I went with.
- 51:53For the king he was, he was my second option.
- 51:56Yeah, yeah, You know, I mean, love cats.
- 51:58He's a big cat and couldn't squeeze Balaam into this set.
- 52:03So we've got we've got some. I mean, you could have yes, but
- 52:07you know, just the way it was going possibly.
- 52:11And Queen agreed with you, rich Zeilona, absolutely the no
- 52:16brainer there for the legions of life.
- 52:18The queen, I mean, Artemisic was thinking maybe as well, but I
- 52:24think Siloam outranks her for me, so that's why I went with
- 52:29her. And then Bishop number 1 was
- 52:32also a crossover with you, Ignatius, the same kind of
- 52:36thinking kind of religiously aspect and big kind of powerful
- 52:43looking figure. So, and actually the perfect
- 52:47color scheme for the white pieces.
- 52:50Anyway, Bishop too, had to get him in here somewhere.
- 52:55Lord Bardrick, one of my faves, and I thought he was kind of,
- 53:01he's bishopy enough, you know? What do you think?
- 53:05Yeah, yeah. It's a good character and I
- 53:08think he'd work well in the chess set, but then no way is he
- 53:10bishoping maybe. No, no.
- 53:12Or he's a cool figure though, and he's got that cool sort of
- 53:16like wooden. Oh, that head, head headdress of
- 53:20a dress. Sort of thing.
- 53:22So that gives it like a sort of, you know.
- 53:24And he's Lord, so you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 53:27You get a pass on that one, John.
- 53:28I'm happy with that. I'd buy.
- 53:29I'd buy him. He's.
- 53:30Not happy with the Bishop, but yeah, I.
- 53:32No, no, I'd buy. I'd buy him as Bishop, but I'm
- 53:34not, you know, not criticizing John.
- 53:36And for the legions of light, then I thought, they're Knights.
- 53:38They have to kind of, you know, they have to work hard here.
- 53:41So night number one is Sir Gideon on his horse, Bishop.
- 53:46So sticking with the chess team, the knight is a horse.
- 53:51But here we have Gideon on Bishop, ironically, not a
- 53:55Bishop. You know, maybe that would have
- 53:57been the most obvious Bishop to have.
- 54:01But Gideon on Bishop, I mean, he's probably one of the best
- 54:05night figures we have. And you can say this or that
- 54:09about his bio character. I think the Gideon 2 bio
- 54:12especially is awesome so. I'll be an amazing looking
- 54:17figure. Despite the fact he's in need to
- 54:19run, he has to get in there and then if you're.
- 54:23Going If you're going for night, fancy nights like that on
- 54:25horses, you have to go for the Odysseus as the king just so we
- 54:28can tower over them. Yeah, exactly.
- 54:31They're so big and so cool. Yeah, exactly.
- 54:33Yeah, we don't want to. We don't want the Knights pieces
- 54:38on the board and night #2 to balance things out a bit.
- 54:42I want to, I want a knight that it's going to kind of get into
- 54:46the back, the back ranks of the Legions of Dark kind of, you
- 54:50know, catch them unawares. Do ban on Boreas I went for.
- 54:57So, you know, he's the Ranger. He can kind of be the one up the
- 55:00board, you know, causing havoc while, you know, Gideon is
- 55:05standing back and kind of defending other pieces of pawns
- 55:09probably. And then we had a Rook #1 So
- 55:14I've gone with dwarfs from my rooks.
- 55:16That's a. Cool idea.
- 55:18You know, that that that kind of just popped out was obvious to
- 55:23me and I was hoping that maybe you guys wouldn't go the same
- 55:26route to give it a bit of variety.
- 55:28So it sounds like we didn't. In any of my.
- 55:30Pieces So there you go. So Jordan Jordan rune Shaper is
- 55:36my first one first thing first, get a Basilia member in there.
- 55:40I mean, you know, so Oh yeah, they had to my favorite faction.
- 55:44And two, he's one of the coolest dwarfs, so you know, and he can
- 55:48do a little bit of magic. So, you know, who knows, he
- 55:51could maybe, eh, instead of just moving up and down and side to
- 55:54side, he could maybe do a little sneaky magic move there.
- 55:58Some point in the game wins. That's called cheating.
- 56:03I didn't say anything, you know, You know, he just wave his, eh,
- 56:06Yeah, he's magic. Down chess with John Allegiance
- 56:09Connor. Anyway, keep an eye on.
- 56:11I used to be very good, so you know.
- 56:14I won't be playing chess. Legions cons.
- 56:16I've always been bloody useless. Yeah, Sir Valgard, then was my
- 56:23other Rook. Ah, Dwarf.
- 56:25I went through all the dwarfs from the good guys and I thought
- 56:30he was probably cool. And this is where I could have
- 56:32gone Noble bear with them. What's his name?
- 56:36Helmer, Golden Tooth or Tord. But no, Sir Valgard.
- 56:41He's rare. He's awesome.
- 56:44He's. Gold.
- 56:47Yeah, he's a good one. Yeah.
- 56:49And then for Paul? Thanks for bringing back that
- 56:51PTSD memory for me again, John. So that's great.
- 56:53Yeah, for pawns, could have gone the Templar Knights.
- 56:57I didn't want to go any the other nights because we have
- 57:00Knights on horses there. So I went for a mixture of
- 57:06Xilinian guards and Silverhorn sentries the front there.
- 57:10So like that, yeah. So they're going to be, uh,
- 57:16doing the porn stuff kind. Of.
- 57:21What sort of chest did you used to play a job?
- 57:23Place for it. I don't know, you're reading an
- 57:25awful lot of innuendo here. I hadn't expected, so you know.
- 57:29Anyway, that's my eh, Legions of Light.
- 57:32That's another cool. Yeah, I I have to say like then.
- 57:36Yeah, I like the idea with this Silanian guard and the silver on
- 57:39Sentry too, because they've got different head helmets and
- 57:42different except, you know, wings and porn.
- 57:45You know, you could, you could actually, although they're the
- 57:47same character, you can actually make the pawns a little bit
- 57:48different as well. So yeah, I like that.
- 57:50Definitely. Yeah, right.
- 57:54So my Legions of Light, I actually actively made the
- 57:57decision not to include the Great Beasts or the Dark 4 in my
- 58:04leadership team. I kind of wanted them to be
- 58:08something else, you know? And then so I went with my king,
- 58:12the king that we have in Mythos. He might not be my favorite, but
- 58:16Attila Leasia. I knew one person would have the
- 58:21Dick in there. Yeah, yeah.
- 58:22Yeah, he just seemed perfect for that king piece in the middle of
- 58:26his head, dress and all that. So.
- 58:27I am glad because I've already done the YouTube toenail and I
- 58:30did put a teller in there. Probably someone would pick
- 58:34it's. Kind of obvious, but again I I
- 58:36wanted. To and I yeah, I didn't want to
- 58:39pick Lee Odysseus because I thought that was one maybe
- 58:41people wouldn't think of yet because it's not out.
- 58:43So yeah. Cool.
- 58:46The Queen, funnily enough, when you thought about and I think
- 58:50she kind of matches with what I'm doing in terms of Attila and
- 58:54that's Artemis Silvacord. I'd actually go with the young
- 58:58Artemis where she's actually a Princess, but I just think the
- 59:02designer, the character I prefer just overall I think she looks
- 59:08better. First Bishop Rich and I had the
- 59:12same idea. Her serpents by her the same
- 59:16reason she looks grand. She looks like she's in
- 59:19ceremonial dress. And you know, it would look it
- 59:23would look quite dramatic on a board as a as a as that kind of
- 59:28character. Bishop too, again, kind of had
- 59:32the same idea as you guys, but I went with someone else.
- 59:34I went with Gadriel again. Oh nice.
- 59:38Yeah, yeah, again, I was thinking the presence on the
- 59:40board with the wings and the you know, and again that religious I
- 59:45did wonder about a Yosef, but but I just think I don't know.
- 59:50I went with a classic I think is and a female.
- 59:54I liked that fact that the I've done, you know, A2 female Bishop
- 59:58characters. I think, yeah, cool to balance.
- 1:00:00No, it's good. Call that Mel.
- 1:00:02Yeah, and then when John so my Knights, when John mentioned all
- 1:00:07in our chat about oh, you know, I think cool if it's someone on
- 1:00:11horseback, I was like, yeah, that actually that would look
- 1:00:15awesome as AI mean it would be a giant piece.
- 1:00:17But yeah, it's a piece. So my first one was Magnus
- 1:00:23Umbalius, the Knight, the old. That was another one of my
- 1:00:27choices and I was like, OK, I just have to sacrifice here.
- 1:00:32Yeah, I just think, you know, he's we've he's the bad ass,
- 1:00:35isn't he? He's the United as I say, he's
- 1:00:37missed a knight. He'd be the knight like that.
- 1:00:40You've seen that video where where they re enacted something
- 1:00:44and the guy on the horse hits the guy dressed as a knight and
- 1:00:47knocks him into the middle of next week.
- 1:00:48I mean I don't think I even survived him so hard.
- 1:00:51But they were trying to show what happens when horse in
- 1:00:53armour runs into people dressed in armour.
- 1:00:55So I'd imagine that as Magnus he just goes straight through.
- 1:00:58Every else is like fighting and it's like plowing through.
- 1:01:01Yeah, yeah, this. If this was a chess video game,
- 1:01:05Can you imagine the battles when you know Magnus kills a pawn?
- 1:01:12Stop at Magnus. He's dead.
- 1:01:14He's dead and then the other night I thought this would be a
- 1:01:21bit different, kind of cool looking and I get my favorite
- 1:01:24figure in there. Atlas on Bodva would be the
- 1:01:28second night. That is a good, that is a good
- 1:01:31show. You know, even Rich has to admit
- 1:01:34that. Even I have to admit that's.
- 1:01:36A good it would look striking as a knight character, wouldn't it?
- 1:01:39Yeah, yeah, definitely. Then the Rook slash castles I
- 1:01:45went with the idea of. So I always think the Rook piece
- 1:01:49basically looks like the tower of a castle, doesn't it?
- 1:01:52It's that kind of vibe. So big characters didn't want to
- 1:01:56go as big as the trolls. So I've first one almost looks
- 1:02:00like a walking castle. Serug, Jack.
- 1:02:04Yes. Brilliant.
- 1:02:05Yeah. And then this one was a bit of a
- 1:02:08for who do I go here? So again, I kind of just went
- 1:02:11with one of my favourites, but it works.
- 1:02:13He's quite on 80's the noble barge set on, you know, you
- 1:02:18stick out. Oh yeah.
- 1:02:19Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that works. With the big shield and the
- 1:02:22helmet, he just has size to him, doesn't he?
- 1:02:25Damn it, Mal, I can't object to either of those household
- 1:02:28things. I mean they would look good.
- 1:02:31Obviously the the figure is better than noble barge one, but
- 1:02:35the name is better. Both or the tower was what I was
- 1:02:38thinking when you mentioned but. Yeah, I mean for.
- 1:02:40For the castle but but I think the noble barge is a better
- 1:02:43figure for. It's more.
- 1:02:44What it is you know that dramatic cooler?
- 1:02:47Yeah. And then the pawns, based on
- 1:02:51sort of what had been said about multiple characters, or well,
- 1:02:54Rich had a type, didn't you, rather than an actual character?
- 1:02:57Yeah. So it made me think because I'd
- 1:03:00originally I'd written the Silver Horn Sentry, but then I
- 1:03:03changed it after you'd talked about that.
- 1:03:05And I was like the Kings under the mountain.
- 1:03:07So we get dwarfs as our little characters.
- 1:03:09Yes. And then the Kings of the
- 1:03:12Mountains, a set of different bits.
- 1:03:14So you have multiple. Characters.
- 1:03:17Different types of dwarves. Like that male?
- 1:03:19Yeah. So that's one of light set.
- 1:03:22That's, I love the idea of the dwarfs being the the pawns of
- 1:03:25belittle, Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:03:27And I'm quite pleased with that. I think it looked.
- 1:03:28Quite I'm so glad that one of us didn't do the legions the light
- 1:03:33that they picked the the more kind of regular characters, you
- 1:03:37know, the the less super beings, you know, for the king and queen
- 1:03:42thought that was cool. Yeah, awesome.
- 1:03:47So now we got legions of dark. Now this is where I think things
- 1:03:53could go anyway, because I know when I was trying to figure out
- 1:03:57mine I was like whoa, I could pick so many things for
- 1:04:00different fakers here, so rich. Back to you for this.
- 1:04:05Do you want to you 2 want to go? Because I obviously nicked the
- 1:04:07limelight last time, didn't I? And then you just go and yes,
- 1:04:09I've got. To do it in reverse, then shall
- 1:04:11I. Yeah, yeah, if you still have
- 1:04:14the energy, let's go. Yes, yeah.
- 1:04:15Well, so with my Legions of Dark, there was an element of
- 1:04:20balancing it out. And as I say, some of these, a
- 1:04:24couple of these I realized aren't actually part of the
- 1:04:28Legions of Dark, but for balance and the look across the sets, I
- 1:04:33went with them. So King Balance, again, it's his
- 1:04:38enemy. It's a bit story driven.
- 1:04:40Gorgo Etherblade. Awesome.
- 1:04:43Yeah, have to get him in there somewhere.
- 1:04:46Yeah, and I think he'd look good again on the board.
- 1:04:50And then there was like, who who could play opposite Artemis?
- 1:04:55Who who was that? And I was like, well, there's,
- 1:04:58I've forgotten the name here and now, but there's the the
- 1:05:01vampire. Lucretia.
- 1:05:04Lucretia. She'd fit in that, but she
- 1:05:07doesn't look quite impressive enough maybe to be that central
- 1:05:11character. So I went with Morgolith.
- 1:05:16Yeah, great chat. One of the big the leaders and
- 1:05:21the headdress adds to that. Or late nature.
- 1:05:23Yeah, it does. I mean, she's running the until
- 1:05:27Necronominus came back, she was running the show for those guys.
- 1:05:30So yeah. You know, and then Bishop one,
- 1:05:35this is one of them that isn't strictly legions of dark, but
- 1:05:39was kind of a balance and who gives off that hair of vibe in
- 1:05:43who's got a more sinister vibe? I thought Aria the talent bearer
- 1:05:48would be a good one. Oh.
- 1:05:51Yeah. She's got that priestess element
- 1:05:53to her as well, you know, gives off the hair of vibe, as I say,
- 1:05:58but a bit more evil looking and Sinner.
- 1:06:01So we don't know if she is yet really, but.
- 1:06:04She's a bad guy, isn't she? Yeah, bad.
- 1:06:07The people making the chess piece would love you too Mal
- 1:06:09with a small dragon having to go around.
- 1:06:14Curving away their little magnifying glass on who?
- 1:06:18Who designed this and? Then this is probably in some
- 1:06:21ways the weakest, but one of my favorite picks.
- 1:06:25And it was like who won Earth? And I was going through though,
- 1:06:28and I was like, and then there's a little fat herbologist who is
- 1:06:33perfect. So I've gone with Owit sitting
- 1:06:39there with his pipe getting stoned.
- 1:06:41He'll never move. He's AI thought that would be
- 1:06:46quite a fun for that kind of role, you know?
- 1:06:52He's getting taken off the board straight away that.
- 1:06:55He's forgotten what he's doing, Yeah.
- 1:06:56He's trying to play drafts. It's like, no dude.
- 1:07:00No, what's happened now is Lord Bushati is just scratching his
- 1:07:03head, going wondering why isn't he the king?
- 1:07:08That's what's happened here. Right.
- 1:07:11And then so the Knights, so I thought they should be again
- 1:07:15they said I thought this would be kind of fun.
- 1:07:18And then A twist on the horse thing.
- 1:07:21So I've gone with the shadow centre for night #1.
- 1:07:26Yeah, that is a good show. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:28I forgot. I kind of forgot about the
- 1:07:30centers, actually. They're great shouts for the
- 1:07:33nights. And then night #2 is, again,
- 1:07:36it's more for the balance and they're not really a legions of
- 1:07:42dark character, but I kind of fit it.
- 1:07:46And that's Jackal. Iron Bones on is Beyond.
- 1:07:49So we've got the opposite of Oh yeah.
- 1:07:52From the latest wave. Yeah, from the latest wave.
- 1:07:57So we got polar bear. Yeah, you thought about the
- 1:08:00symmetry way too much. Well, I would just like that
- 1:08:02character who's going in there. That is, that was part of my.
- 1:08:05That is part of it. I think that's brilliantly done,
- 1:08:08yeah. And then so yeah, Rook cat slash
- 1:08:13castle number one for Legions of Dark again, the balance, the
- 1:08:18conflict, Barodac. He's the, He's the.
- 1:08:23Absolutely. Exactly.
- 1:08:24Yeah. Obstacle checks.
- 1:08:26A bit boring, perhaps that one, but great.
- 1:08:29Yeah, perfect. And then alongside him, the
- 1:08:34Frost Ogre as the other rock castle again.
- 1:08:37It's another one you could have picked.
- 1:08:39There's a bunch room you could pick, but I just thought he
- 1:08:41looked a bit more dramatic with the stuff he's wearing compared
- 1:08:45to some of the others. So so with with barrel deck,
- 1:08:50when when he's kind of in danger and being kind of attacked, you
- 1:08:55could just switch out and put the skeleton head in them.
- 1:08:57Yeah, yeah. When he's in a nasty fork, you
- 1:09:02know the queen. Right.
- 1:09:07And then my pawns again. I went with the little
- 1:09:09characters way to get goblins in there.
- 1:09:12Brilliant. Same idea as the Kings under the
- 1:09:14Mountain, the malignancy of Gob Hollow, and you've got all
- 1:09:17tools. You could do lots of different
- 1:09:20characters with one set. I love this.
- 1:09:22I was half expecting this all to end up with the same stuff, so
- 1:09:25I'm I'm really impressed the different thought processes
- 1:09:29going on here. I'm.
- 1:09:31Not sure any of mine were on that list.
- 1:09:33That's pretty good, so let's see how we fare with mine.
- 1:09:35One was there we go. One of mine is on miles left
- 1:09:38here. That's good.
- 1:09:39But not as the same piece so. Oh, that's interesting and I
- 1:09:44love that. Man.
- 1:09:44I'd buy both of those. I'm quite pleased.
- 1:09:48It's much better thought outset than mine.
- 1:09:50I just like to point out at this at this moment, I am many horses
- 1:09:53in mine because originally I was trying to keep them all as just
- 1:09:56normal sized pieces since my Legions of light are all just
- 1:10:00normal sized. And then I got to the Legions of
- 1:10:03Dark and just gave up on that. I got 2 absolute brutes.
- 1:10:06There's the castle, so really weird to be like, and then
- 1:10:09there's just like this couple of big guys on the end.
- 1:10:11So yeah. Right, well in reverse order
- 1:10:15it's me then. So legions the Dark for me, King
- 1:10:19Arathiranathan. So I didn't get horses into the
- 1:10:23Knights this time, but still decided got to get horses in
- 1:10:28here somehow. So are they around Nathan?
- 1:10:31That fiery sword as well, like raised up, that's that's a
- 1:10:34really cool look for chest pace. I mean, the other option there
- 1:10:36is, of course, Necronominus on cannabis and both, yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:43Yeah, yeah. Bit more mental and and for the
- 1:10:47Queen. Can I just say my Dark King is
- 1:10:49very different to yours? I love it, I love it.
- 1:10:52This be interesting. This is why we podcast you know
- 1:10:55we don't all think the same way and for the queen lithium
- 1:11:00phobus. So again, obvious but works with
- 1:11:03our theorem 8th on lithium Phob I I do wonder how they would
- 1:11:07really get on together in reality, but.
- 1:11:13He'd burn a lips a lot. I think it's bad to say.
- 1:11:16She'd be like trying to bite him.
- 1:11:17He's like. Ah, I don't like my meat cooked
- 1:11:23spicy, right. And Bishop #1 Arzak, evil wizard
- 1:11:34Bishop. I think that works.
- 1:11:36And he's a cool character and I think one of, in hindsight,
- 1:11:42probably one of the best figures out of the boxes Wave when I
- 1:11:45look back in it. Definitely my favorite wizard
- 1:11:49now, even though. Yeah, no, I think he is.
- 1:11:53Yeah, he's just cool. And comes the last of Bishop
- 1:11:58number 2. Not over to the Skelly's again.
- 1:12:03Cloaked, hooded Maxillius the Harvester.
- 1:12:07He's doing reaping. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:10Yeah. Really good.
- 1:12:11You wouldn't want to, you wouldn't want to sacrifice him
- 1:12:14early in the game if you were playing the chess pieces, you
- 1:12:16know, because you just think, no, I need, I need Maxillius on
- 1:12:19my side for. And again, you got him stood
- 1:12:22there with a big size. Yeah, just for that impact.
- 1:12:24Yeah. That's great piece, John Oliver.
- 1:12:27Night #1 So thinking, right? If you think of Lord of the
- 1:12:32Rings, who are the kind of bad guys and how do you get them
- 1:12:34into this jet chess set? 4th Hog.
- 1:12:37Bjork got to get an orc in here somewhere.
- 1:12:41So I think 4th Ox probably my favorite.
- 1:12:44Don't have our sock. So that's probably why he's my
- 1:12:48favorite. I think he's probably still a
- 1:12:50better figure than Erzak, but Herzog is super rare now and I
- 1:12:54think version 2 Erzak will be better than Fourthag probably,
- 1:12:58but more thug is general I think the equivalent of the evil
- 1:13:03version of a knight. So yeah, he doesn't have a horse
- 1:13:06to go on, but he doesn't need one.
- 1:13:09Yeah. And he certainly doesn't need a
- 1:13:12horse. When he has Knight, he's buddy
- 1:13:14Knight. Maybe defending him or attacking
- 1:13:18with them. More likely Gore go out to blade
- 1:13:22as night #2 so Mal had him as his king, which I fully support
- 1:13:28given the the the way Mal was, you know the logic he was using
- 1:13:32with his sets. But I was able to get Gore go in
- 1:13:36there and that's a lesser piece but still right?
- 1:13:41Rooks castles sticking on the dwarf team.
- 1:13:46Who do you think? Rook #1 Scally Bones splitter.
- 1:13:51Yeah. He's not, he's not as kind of
- 1:13:55tankish as the other dwarfs, but he's evil.
- 1:13:58He's a skeleton. Yeah.
- 1:14:00He's going to do some damaging dead.
- 1:14:04And for Rook #2 we've got another king in there.
- 1:14:07King Brandon. Yeah.
- 1:14:09Perfect choice for. That one of my one of my faves.
- 1:14:13Brilliant figure. And so that's that, that's the
- 1:14:18back row. And then the pawns a bit left
- 1:14:22field. They're they're legion builders,
- 1:14:24but you wouldn't think of them as legion builders.
- 1:14:27So my pawns are going to be Vargs and bug goblins.
- 1:14:32I like that. Yeah.
- 1:14:33Yeah, that we went. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:35So we got fags and bug goblins. So I got goblin in there
- 1:14:39somehow. My favorite government,
- 1:14:40actually. The bug goblin alone.
- 1:14:41That's cool, Very cool ones. So there's my pawns.
- 1:14:46I have one of your characters as well.
- 1:14:48So I'm going to sit back and enjoy the the rich legions of
- 1:14:55Dark. There's definitely a Vampire
- 1:14:56Knight in there somewhere, that's all I'd say.
- 1:14:59I can confirm there is. Spoiler alert.
- 1:15:03Yeah, so my king choice for the Legions of Dark may actually put
- 1:15:08people off buying the set, but I'm very happy with this.
- 1:15:11So it's King Noglin. That's cool.
- 1:15:14Wow, I like that. No one would have any idea how
- 1:15:17we got game that powerful. Be like on the hell.
- 1:15:21It's a goblin, but he's got that happy little grin going.
- 1:15:23Yeah, I'm the king. Look at me.
- 1:15:25On a on a stairs diorama is it? Yeah, basically that would be
- 1:15:32good. And also, he very much relies on
- 1:15:34others for protection. Nagaland.
- 1:15:35So that's what the King's role is on chess.
- 1:15:37He's just like. True, true.
- 1:15:39The king isn't really an alpha in chess.
- 1:15:41Yeah, what's true? Wasn't in the 1000 Squigs story,
- 1:15:45wasn't he seated on a huge seated seated on a huge throne?
- 1:15:50So Oh yeah. So you couldn't like goblins
- 1:15:53stretched out? And they still have 1000 Squigs
- 1:15:56to sell on. John, I've just realized I got 2
- 1:16:01the same issue. Alethia is my queen, yeah, and
- 1:16:06super powerful so, but yeah, I had to get her.
- 1:16:09In well, it's not the same because I had her sitting on
- 1:16:11Phobus. You didn't weren't that smart.
- 1:16:13At this point I was, I was all trying to keep her from the same
- 1:16:15height on this point. And then my other duplicate of
- 1:16:19you, John is Bishop and the one Arzak.
- 1:16:23You know, it's got that big cloak and all that, as you said.
- 1:16:25And you tend to see in films and books that bishops flip flop
- 1:16:28from side to side. They're like, I'm a good guy.
- 1:16:31No, I'm not I'm evil. And, you know, Arizac did the
- 1:16:33both. So I thought that would.
- 1:16:36My second Bishop is Morgolith. Very fancy headgear.
- 1:16:42You know, flowing ropes. I love to get a big powerful
- 1:16:46character in there as one of the kind of mid ranks.
- 1:16:48That's brilliant. Yeah, First Knight Spoiler is a
- 1:16:53vampire knight. It's got Knight in his name.
- 1:16:58I had, I had them down as pawns, so yeah.
- 1:17:01And it's my favorite figure, so still until this Batar comes.
- 1:17:05So yeah, it's in there. And then Next up, and I'm going
- 1:17:12to say this is to give some sort of balance in the shape of the
- 1:17:14figures. But it's it's not.
- 1:17:15I just picked it the other night is Grisha.
- 1:17:20Right. Be cool.
- 1:17:21That's cool. Again, this is this is my sneaky
- 1:17:23move, Silent but deadly you. Know, yeah.
- 1:17:28Yeah, basically. And then at this point I gave up
- 1:17:32on my keep everything the same scale idea, and we got some
- 1:17:35castles. So my first castle is
- 1:17:39Archimedes. He's a builder and master
- 1:17:42Craftsman, you know, he would build big things like castles
- 1:17:46and that sort of stuff, and he's huge, so.
- 1:17:50And he's not going to. He's a long forgotten figure at
- 1:17:52this point, but he's super underrated.
- 1:17:55Really good and I will have an amazingly painted head to go on
- 1:17:59him at Legions Gone for sale if anyone's interested.
- 1:18:02Presume the parcel will get lost in the way to Anthony.
- 1:18:04But. Cross that bridge when we come
- 1:18:08to. Exactly.
- 1:18:08Yeah, and then my other castle is as a hazer again.
- 1:18:14Wow. Once I'd once I'd gone for an
- 1:18:18ogre scale. Is that what I meant to go for
- 1:18:19another? Yeah, I didn't want anything
- 1:18:20armoured. Because armoured.
- 1:18:24No, I'd already had already had three vampires down on my list.
- 1:18:27I was trying to limit it. So you.
- 1:18:30Got too much blood on the board, do you it?
- 1:18:32Gets flippy. People have fallen over.
- 1:18:35Just may have. Can't see the squares anymore.
- 1:18:38Exactly. I also really like with him the
- 1:18:40idea like the just the big demon horns.
- 1:18:42I think that's just an imposing sort of look on the board as
- 1:18:45well. So he'd be good.
- 1:18:47And then for my pawns, I've gone for the vampire phalanx legion
- 1:18:49builder. For the first one, I wanted
- 1:18:53something very generic and it's black, so it fits in with the
- 1:18:55legions of dark look as well and he's a vampire.
- 1:19:00And then for the other one, and this is what I was talking
- 1:19:02about, type smell, I went for the skeleton Raider.
- 1:19:06Right. OK.
- 1:19:06Yeah, yeah. Which to me is like it's, you
- 1:19:10know, it's straight out of Jason and the Argonauts.
- 1:19:12It's a Harry house and skeleton and I absolutely love it because
- 1:19:14a lot, you know, and you need skeletons on the board.
- 1:19:18You need a lumbering skeletons as a lot of things.
- 1:19:22So that's my. I was very close to getting a
- 1:19:25skeleton Raider in there somewhere, but I'm glad you got
- 1:19:28him in also. I mean, I buy all three of those
- 1:19:32and it just shows you the scope. Like when there is bucket loads
- 1:19:35of legions characters and some of them are more obvious than
- 1:19:38others. Obviously, like the king and
- 1:19:41Queens that I chose are quite obvious.
- 1:19:44But you can do what Mal did and you can say, right, I'm taking
- 1:19:47out the the kind of the other beings and sticking more to the
- 1:19:54kind of people on the ground. Love it.
- 1:20:00Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:20:01So there you go. Mythically.
- 1:20:02Yeah, no, I. Guess there's.
- 1:20:04Aesthetically looks much better than mine so I'd buy miles but
- 1:20:09they're all good. No, no, I think they're all
- 1:20:11excellent. I really like the dwarves as the
- 1:20:13castles, as the rooks. Yeah.
- 1:20:16Yeah, I think I hit gold there with that one, Yeah, at least.
- 1:20:21I didn't think of the little guys as the pawns, so I let
- 1:20:24myself down there, but there we go.
- 1:20:28Yeah, but we covered it as the three, you know, exactly.
- 1:20:30You know, we all have our own strengths and weaknesses and we
- 1:20:36covered them all. All right, guys.
- 1:20:39Well, do we have any more we want to say this week or?
- 1:20:42My All Stars 6 arrived earlier today and I was so tired when
- 1:20:45I'm from work not only I forgot the box was here so I'll be
- 1:20:49opening those at the weekend. I've got 2 insane days of work
- 1:20:53coming up, one of which I'm away for as well, so this weekend I'm
- 1:20:57going to have a lot of fun playing with some All Stars 6
- 1:20:59figures. And you haven't had them in hand
- 1:21:04yet, have you? I've not noticed this will be my
- 1:21:06this will be my first first time in hand.
- 1:21:08So I got an all in and then I got two extra Siri knocks and
- 1:21:12two extra Sir Andrews. So I I just took my hand in the
- 1:21:19box, I just opened my box. You know the of extras that they
- 1:21:22got and the first thing I put out.
- 1:21:24This is like listening to Steve for Shotty the First.
- 1:21:27Thing the first thing I put out is the weapons packs is I get 1
- 1:21:31you know that's fine you're the the belt packs what over there,
- 1:21:33so I'm glad they got extra those.
- 1:21:35Do you like that noise great. So who have I got first look at
- 1:21:39that? Oh, nice, nice.
- 1:21:42He is very, very cool. He's such a good figure.
- 1:21:46Yeah. I'm going to try and.
- 1:21:48I think. Was he the one you were looking
- 1:21:50for extras of now? Yeah, yeah, I'd be happy if
- 1:21:52you've got one extra you can spare.
- 1:21:54Well, I'll buy him off you. To be fair, I've got a big box
- 1:21:57of extras here that really don't need to sell, but I'm not going
- 1:22:02to sell them all. I definitely think I have a
- 1:22:04couple of customs ideas with those because the parts are
- 1:22:07great, but I'm very happy to get a night into your hands.
- 1:22:12No, that's. What that's what it is with
- 1:22:13e-mail are. They sold out there.
- 1:22:16Umm, I can't remember but. No, Enoch.
- 1:22:19Well, it was up until recently. We're still available on
- 1:22:22Emporium. I didn't even look because of.
- 1:22:25The price of. Them is so.
- 1:22:26Yeah, they're too. I am.
- 1:22:27Yeah, but individually they are more so than the all in.
- 1:22:33But yeah, I've got an extra of him, but I've already got a plan
- 1:22:35for that. So it'd be nice to have another
- 1:22:38one that if I get another idea in the future, it's you.
- 1:22:42Know any spateful it's? Just so.
- 1:22:44Great figure. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:22:45So I've got a an extra surrender.
- 1:22:48I got 2 terraces, definitely custom coming with one of those
- 1:22:52we can. Have the one dead one on squint
- 1:22:54lens dealt with him? Oh yeah, true.
- 1:22:56Yeah, yeah, it's sticking with your bio.
- 1:22:58Yeah. And eh, got an extra core talk.
- 1:23:06I don't know why, but in a way I do know why.
- 1:23:08Because he's an Army builder as well, if he's to their head.
- 1:23:10Yeah. And yeah, a few of the ones.
- 1:23:15Oh, I have the shooter. It's so bad.
- 1:23:19You ordered these things so long ago and you remember an extra
- 1:23:22Sir Ignatius. I wonder why I ordered that.
- 1:23:24I suppose because they didn't have an extra scally bones
- 1:23:27spitter. That's good.
- 1:23:28It's. A good one, yeah.
- 1:23:29Yeah, and two Siri knock. Oh good.
- 1:23:35Nice. And the bells packs.
- 1:23:37Happy days, Yeah. My plan is to pick up some more
- 1:23:41extras of a lot of these legions.
- 1:23:44Con has to be said. Yeah.
- 1:23:46This rate I might have to buy another Bureau lift completely
- 1:23:49unrelated and a few but my colleague she has just decided
- 1:23:53she does not want to stand up all of a sudden she's.
- 1:23:56Well, why is that rich? 2.0 ankles.
- 1:24:01She's she's been absolutely fine.
- 1:24:03And then like a couple of weeks ago, last week, whatever it was
- 1:24:06when we were, the weather was a bit hot suddenly I heard ago.
- 1:24:09So I went to look and put her up and she she just will not stand
- 1:24:12up anymore. I don't know what it's like
- 1:24:13stick. Her in the freezer for an hour.
- 1:24:15It probably is what I need to do because even though it's cooler
- 1:24:19now, it's still a bit muggy and. Yeah, and I without getting on
- 1:24:23around about 2.0 ankles, but I found once they do go, even if
- 1:24:27you use like figure stands and that sort of thing, they just
- 1:24:29they're just not strong enough. They'll just take the stands
- 1:24:32over as well unless it's a really heavy stand.
- 1:24:34It's not a bad one to have a second one of anyways it is for
- 1:24:37parts, so if I do decide to do. That just the accessories and
- 1:24:40that that chimera. Chimera.
- 1:24:44Yeah. Well done, John.
- 1:24:46It's like bit my tongue in 1/2. Well, well done, Padawan.
- 1:24:50You're learning. I'm trying rich every day.
- 1:24:53I'm trying to be better. Just before we we go, can I do a
- 1:24:57shout out something I'm very excited about?
- 1:25:00Yeah, Corsair creations on Instagram.
- 1:25:05They are doing a pirate themed line called Realms of the Black
- 1:25:12Tide. Oh yes.
- 1:25:14The Four Horsemen have been involved in helping them sculpt
- 1:25:18and design the characters and it will be going up on Kickstarter
- 1:25:22very soon. First Wave.
- 1:25:26I assume that you know first funding Wave that I don't know
- 1:25:30if they'll unlock anything. I've not spoken to anyone, this
- 1:25:33is just me excited about something that I've seen.
- 1:25:37First Wave is going to be 3 captains, one of whom is human
- 1:25:42called Captain Alistair Morningstar, one of whom of whom
- 1:25:48is a skeletal captain who's Captain Algol Death Mould and
- 1:25:55then a squid Cthulhu esque captain called Captain Caribtus.
- 1:26:02And all three of them are just about absolute winning, Awesome
- 1:26:05looking characters. I think you can see that from
- 1:26:10the designs and the the joint style and all that that the
- 1:26:13horsemen have been involved. It's very there's some very, you
- 1:26:17know, horsemen esque articulation in there, and I
- 1:26:22think they just look amazing. So I think I I everyone take a
- 1:26:26look at it. I think they look amazing back
- 1:26:29it because we need these made. I'll be back in.
- 1:26:33I think these look absolutely superb.
- 1:26:35I'd be. Very interested to see what the
- 1:26:38unlocks are because they do look great but there's only three and
- 1:26:41it's like, well you need more than three you know?
- 1:26:44This Captain Cara does here, Rich.
- 1:26:49That's yeah, that's up your street now.
- 1:26:51Oh, all over that. And have you seen his like his
- 1:26:55hands have got little suckers on them as well.
- 1:26:58Yeah. They're so good.
- 1:27:01Have they said how big they are, Mal?
- 1:27:03Are they like a bit bigger than 112?
- 1:27:05So more in line with the. Horsemen.
- 1:27:08Yeah. I mean, I don't think they
- 1:27:10actually specify anywhere, but they do look like I'm.
- 1:27:13Just thinking if they if they come with hands packs or extra
- 1:27:15hands then there's a good chance some of those will find the way
- 1:27:17to legions figures. Yeah, well, and they, I feel
- 1:27:20like, as I say, certain joints on it look very legion, like
- 1:27:24certain articulation. Oh yeah, there's extra hands.
- 1:27:28And bands, yeah. So, yeah.
- 1:27:32So could be something that parts will be compatible, not not
- 1:27:37exactly and might require a bit of tweaking, but could be with a
- 1:27:41bit of fiddling, compatible with the allegiance as well.
- 1:27:44Yeah, but now these are great. When does the Kickstarter launch
- 1:27:47Mal? They have put something up just
- 1:27:50today, but I don't think that landing page is on its way, so I
- 1:27:54want to. OK, Yes, no, these look amazing.
- 1:27:59Yeah. I, I, I mean again, they don't
- 1:28:02really say what what site they're going to be on display
- 1:28:04at Legions con the prototypes will be at Legions as well.
- 1:28:08So that'll definitely. Nice.
- 1:28:10We'll try and get some nice pictures of them to to put up on
- 1:28:13our page as well. I'm sad I've not been as excited
- 1:28:16about a reveal of a potential toy line for a while.
- 1:28:20You know? I mean, I love legions.
- 1:28:21I mean, to them, they are rooted there.
- 1:28:25They're going nowhere. But I saw these like holy cow
- 1:28:27they look good. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:28:29And it helps that I just, as I said to you guys, done a rewatch
- 1:28:33just coincidentally, of all the Pirates of the Caribbean films,
- 1:28:37and he's like, wow. You're right in the Wheelers
- 1:28:41area. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:28:43Well, when I got home today I was because I was knackered.
- 1:28:46I took him like watching stuff. I was like, right, I just need
- 1:28:49to watch a series that I don't need to concentrate on too much.
- 1:28:51So I started watching Twisted Metal.
- 1:28:54Oh yes. The live action one, which I've
- 1:28:56not seen before. Watch the first 3.
- 1:28:57I loved it. It was really good.
- 1:28:59Fantastic. Isn't it really?
- 1:29:00Auntie Mackie's great, absolutely great in it.
- 1:29:02And that's, yeah, I really like it.
- 1:29:04And Kerry likes it too. So the two of us are watching it
- 1:29:06together. I was like, I didn't think you'd
- 1:29:08like this. And she's like, there's just
- 1:29:09something about it. It just, it's worked really
- 1:29:11well. Yeah.
- 1:29:12It's really good. It's based on the computer game
- 1:29:15John, the post Post apocalyptic computer game.
- 1:29:17So yeah. I'm sure you played it.
- 1:29:21I haven't. I'm not a gamer.
- 1:29:22Particularly so, I know, I know it's, but yeah, yeah.
- 1:29:25But it was it was more of a driving game than anything made.
- 1:29:28Oh, was it? Yeah, OK.
- 1:29:30Destruction Derby style sort of thing, but right, Isn't that
- 1:29:34really, is it? Yeah.
- 1:29:37One last bit of toy news before we go.
- 1:29:38It'll drag us over the hour and a half mark.
- 1:29:42I messaged you guys the other day saying I'd gone in for the
- 1:29:44Hazlab Snowcat. Finally, I am now no longer
- 1:29:48going in for the Hazlab snow cap because everyone else can't
- 1:29:50afford it. So they didn't take my money
- 1:29:53that they had a glitch at their end, so when they come to try
- 1:29:55and take the money it'd just be a no.
- 1:29:57OK, so you just. Yeah, I might double checked and
- 1:30:01you can cancel anyway sort of thing.
- 1:30:03But they, yeah, they sent an e-mail out to everybody going,
- 1:30:04yeah, our system's messed up. We haven't taken any money.
- 1:30:08So I just decided as much as I love it and I said it was 1
- 1:30:11vehicle I'd get as a haz lab. No time and money just done for
- 1:30:15me so. Fair enough.
- 1:30:16It is pricey. I yeah, I was surprised.
- 1:30:19I was surprised you went for it, to be honest.
- 1:30:21Yeah. So, no.
- 1:30:22So common sense, very unusually for me, has prevailed.
- 1:30:26Well, I, as I said to you at the same sort of time as you were
- 1:30:29talking about that is I decided against back in the snake Claire
- 1:30:34from Mattel. It looks like they're going to
- 1:30:38it's going to fund by the looks of it, it's something like 50
- 1:30:41off funding this point and I just can't, I don't there's just
- 1:30:46not it's going to cut. It would cost £335.
- 1:30:50That's not including shipping. I don't see where the they're
- 1:30:54getting £335 worth of value in in in what they're doing so.
- 1:30:59Even with accessories the snow cat was the same.
- 1:31:02To be honest, it was like £330 and it's like you, you can't
- 1:31:05justify that. Yes, there's some lights that
- 1:31:07flash on it and that sort of stuff.
- 1:31:09But it's, you know, at the end of the day it's, it's a lot of
- 1:31:11not particularly painted plastic.
- 1:31:14It's, you know, you can't justify that sort of money for
- 1:31:17it. I do feel there was more value
- 1:31:19in the snow cat and the detail and the size and all that than
- 1:31:23whereas, yeah. But yeah, I can understand why
- 1:31:25you'd change your mind as well though, so yeah.
- 1:31:31Very good. Yeah.
- 1:31:33What's not very good? Our friend in the community,
- 1:31:36Scott Ball, he got a very tough cancer diagnosis.
- 1:31:39Well, cancer kind of prognosis this week.
- 1:31:43So thinking to you, Scott, hopefully things turn out better
- 1:31:47than the doctors say, and hopefully you managed to fight
- 1:31:53through it. But yeah, tough times at the
- 1:31:56moment for Scott. So everyone in the community is
- 1:31:59thinking of us, of him, including us.
- 1:32:02So I just wanted to shout that out.
- 1:32:04I meant to do it at the start, but the start of these shows
- 1:32:09kind of sometimes goes a bit the way it goes.
- 1:32:12So anyway, got it in there, Scott.
- 1:32:15Hopefully if you are listening to us and or someone tells you
- 1:32:21that we shouted Joe, she can at least take some comfort that
- 1:32:25there's people around the world pulling for you.
- 1:32:27So, you know, that's about Buddy, you know, O, that's it
- 1:32:31now. So I don't know how to end the
- 1:32:33show after that, but we'll try.
