- 4:27Speaker 3: I think he's working here at the park now. He's

- 5:02Speaker 4: Lonly got his life of roller coaster?
- 5:04Speaker 3: All nice, All this is our last live I mean

- 5:31Speaker 3: I wish George would hurry up and get here.
- 5:33Speaker 4: You know, I wonder who this Joe Lester is, but
- 5:35Speaker 4: he's following there well.
- 5:37Speaker 3: George mentioned basedide penitentiary. He used to be a guard day.
- 5:40Speaker 4: You know, yeah, yeah, I know, didn't he get into
- 5:43Speaker 4: some kind of trouble.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah. I was accused of helping some of the convicts.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Okay, George Hayley, Oh, why that's ridiculous.
- 5:48Speaker 3: I know it did, but the evidence was against him,
- 5:50Speaker 3: and all the escaping convicts were killed so they couldn't
- 5:52Speaker 3: testify in his favorite Oh, Nick, here's a big dip.
- 5:59Speaker 3: I love it.
- 6:00Speaker 4: And look behind as you can see all the way down, Nick,
- 6:04Speaker 4: what is it?
- 6:05Speaker 5: Good? George? And the car behind us right.
- 6:08Speaker 3: You're right passed to be half out of the car.
- 6:09Speaker 4: He must have stayed it up. Nick, where you're going?
- 6:12Speaker 3: I gotta get back to him to probably go around
- 6:13Speaker 3: that truck.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Tur it's your light, Nick, you'll be killed.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Oh, he's just gone right out of a car.
- 6:36Speaker 4: He let it right in front of me, who's out
- 6:38Speaker 4: on a valley platform door too.
- 6:39Speaker 2: But I wonder he didn't hit somebody and kill him.
- 6:41Speaker 3: That thing here's one hundred foot high. He's back. Everybody,
- 6:43Speaker 3: Please let me let me here.
- 6:45Speaker 5: Anything we can do here, No, Patsy.
- 6:47Speaker 3: He must have been killed. It looks like every bone
- 6:49Speaker 3: in his body broke ally. What happened here? Whatny? What's
- 6:52Speaker 3: the matter? Better? Ask Slim? The whirlwind is his concession.
- 6:55Speaker 3: The guy put out of the car at the Braden
- 6:57Speaker 3: going around a height time. Good. You're the manager of
- 6:59Speaker 3: this park. I'm the owner, John Browton. Are you a
- 7:02Speaker 3: police I'm a private investigator. My name is Nick Carter.
- 7:05Speaker 3: The dead man was a friend of mine. Nothing like
- 7:07Speaker 3: this has ever happened before, mister Carter. Your friend must
- 7:09Speaker 3: have been standing up in the minue. Oh he wasn't
- 7:11Speaker 3: standing up. And I talked to you, and I talked
- 7:14Speaker 3: to the confession manager in your office.
- 7:15Speaker 6: Why of course?
- 7:17Speaker 3: And you too, didn't you say you saw what happened? Yeah.
- 7:19Speaker 3: I run the Beauty and Peace show right next to
- 7:21Speaker 3: the Whirlwind. Well, miss Latour, here we was out on
- 7:24Speaker 3: the ballet platform and you two come along to the office.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Leave the park. Police can take care of things here
- 7:28Speaker 3: until someone arrives from homicide. Homicide, Yes, mister Browdon, I
- 7:32Speaker 3: called Sergeant Mathieson. This was no accident. It was murder, folks.
- 7:48Speaker 3: This is Sergent Matheson of homicide, mister Broughton, the owner
- 7:50Speaker 3: of the park. Maddie, Oh, miss Broughton, I'll do you do?
- 7:53Speaker 3: Sargant Slim Watson who operates the roller coaster. Hi, Lilian Latour,
- 7:57Speaker 3: an animal trainer and the show next door, Miss Latruur
- 8:00Speaker 3: please to make your acquaintance, and Woody Reeves, who operates
- 8:02Speaker 3: the show in which Miss Latour appears, a hello reet.
- 8:05Speaker 3: First of all, Maddy, I'll tell you what I know.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Patsy and I were in the same string of cars
- 8:09Speaker 3: as the dead man when he was thrown off the
- 8:10Speaker 3: roller coaster. George Haley, a friend of my father's.
- 8:13Speaker 6: Were you together when it happened?
- 8:14Speaker 3: No, we were trying to find George. He was following
- 8:16Speaker 3: a man who came out to the park on a
- 8:18Speaker 3: bus about eight o'clock, someone George had known when he
- 8:20Speaker 3: was a guard at Bayside State Penitentiary.
- 8:22Speaker 4: How do you know that, Well George found to ask
- 8:24Speaker 4: Nick for help and finding out about the man. Well
- 8:26Speaker 4: George knew was that he was probably a park employee.
- 8:29Speaker 3: See, Patsy and I were supposed to meet him in
- 8:30Speaker 3: front of the roller coaster, so we killed time by
- 8:32Speaker 3: taking a few rides. Uh huh.
- 8:34Speaker 5: And then I looked back and saw George in the
- 8:36Speaker 5: car behind us.
- 8:37Speaker 3: The man must have been standing up, Sergeant. I tell you,
- 8:39Speaker 3: we saw mister Broughton and he wasn't standing up. Okay,
- 8:42Speaker 3: Nick but what makes you think it was murder? Well, Maddy,
- 8:45Speaker 3: the body was badly smashed up, but not the back
- 8:48Speaker 3: of the head. And I found blood there well, naturally
- 8:51Speaker 3: after such a fall as that. It was dried blood,
- 8:53Speaker 3: mister Broughton, from a blow that had been struck sometime
- 8:56Speaker 3: before he fell out of the roller coaster.
- 8:57Speaker 6: And I wait a minute, Nick, the guy might have
- 8:59Speaker 6: had some and you didn't.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Know about no matter that was the blow that killed him.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Otherwise they would have raised the lump the sides of
- 9:05Speaker 3: a hen's egg. And there was no swelling at all.
- 9:07Speaker 3: What are you talking about? A medical fact, mister Browdon.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Swelling does not take place after debt ride. And he
- 9:13Speaker 3: must have been riding around and that thing dead ever
- 9:15Speaker 3: since he was slugged on how he was in sach
- 9:17Speaker 3: I collect tickets for every ride, and I'm sure I
- 9:20Speaker 3: certainly wouldn't miss seeing a dead guy.
- 9:22Speaker 6: And how in sam Hill.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Did he get in there?
- 9:25Speaker 4: I have an idea, Sergeant. Yeah, at the beginning of
- 9:28Speaker 4: the ride there's a dark tunnel. If the murderer had
- 9:30Speaker 4: been hiding.
- 9:31Speaker 3: In there with the body, Oh that's impossible.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Huh.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Oh, there's only three inches clearance on each side of
- 9:36Speaker 3: that tunnel. One man couldn't possibly hide there, let alone
- 9:39Speaker 3: two of them.
- 9:40Speaker 6: Yeah, well, then somebody must have dumped him in there
- 9:43Speaker 6: from someplace.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Else along the route. Whenever he aint to that tracked
- 9:46Speaker 3: me up bright his days. You need plenty of ee.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Does matter From the time the car leaves the top
- 9:51Speaker 3: of the first incline, it's going to break next beat.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Uh well, let's forget about how he got in the
- 9:56Speaker 3: car for a minute and trying to find the guy
- 9:58Speaker 3: he was asked.
- 9:59Speaker 5: I'll bet he what is Joe Lester?
- 10:02Speaker 3: You recognize the name? H'm mister Browden. Why no, No,
- 10:07Speaker 3: There's never been any park employee named Joe Leicester.
- 10:11Speaker 6: I'll swear to that, Joe Leicester. I've heard that name before.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Can you get through with little and me as quick
- 10:18Speaker 3: as possible? The gorilla mine has been over there for
- 10:20Speaker 3: almost an hour without any water in his case, and
- 10:23Speaker 3: you better stay here, Woody. Somebody else can take care
- 10:25Speaker 3: of bungo.
- 10:25Speaker 4: Mister Brown, you know there ain't nobody, But what do
- 10:27Speaker 4: you make and get near him? Anybody else? Try to
- 10:29Speaker 4: walk into that cake care?
- 10:33Speaker 6: Look, Nick, how about it? You need these folks any longer?
- 10:37Speaker 3: I just want to ask them one question. We've found
- 10:39Speaker 3: a tickets up from your show and Haley's pocket. Woody,
- 10:42Speaker 3: he must have followed Leicester in there. Did you happen
- 10:44Speaker 3: to notice anybody come in just before Haley? I didn't
- 10:47Speaker 3: even notice him miss the tour.
- 10:50Speaker 4: No, no, I didn't see the guy either.
- 10:52Speaker 6: Joe Lester by Gully, I've got it.
- 10:55Speaker 3: You know him many.
- 10:55Speaker 7: I don't know him, but I remember who he is.
- 10:58Speaker 7: And if you think Joe Lester murdered Helly, you're out
- 11:01Speaker 7: of luck.
- 11:01Speaker 6: Nick.
- 11:01Speaker 5: What do you mean?
- 11:02Speaker 6: Joe Lester's been dead for twelve years. That sure drowned
- 11:06Speaker 6: while he was trying to break out of Bayside Penitentiary.
- 11:09Speaker 6: His body was swept out to sea.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Bungo, bake away from that cake? Do you big? Can't
- 11:28Speaker 3: just see? I'm bringing you some water?
- 11:30Speaker 5: Let him wait a minute?
- 11:33Speaker 4: Shut up, Bongo.
- 11:34Speaker 3: What's the matter of you killed him?
- 11:37Speaker 5: Didn't you?
- 11:37Speaker 3: Woody? Me? You're nuts.
- 11:40Speaker 5: Don't lie to me, Woody. You know I'm too crazy
- 11:42Speaker 5: about you to ever tell. But but I got another truth.
- 11:45Speaker 6: Whatever put a crazy idea like that in your head
- 11:47Speaker 6: because you're.
- 11:48Speaker 5: The guy he's after.
- 11:49Speaker 3: You're a Joe lesser.
- 11:51Speaker 6: Baby, you're way off base.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Joe Lesser was drunk.
- 11:54Speaker 5: They never found the body. And Joe Lester was in
- 11:57Speaker 5: Bayside ten twelve years ago. And you've done the street
- 12:00Speaker 5: at Bayside twelve years ago.
- 12:01Speaker 3: You told me so what of it started? A couple
- 12:03Speaker 3: of thousand an other guys?
- 12:04Speaker 5: What?
- 12:05Speaker 4: He don't lie to me?
- 12:06Speaker 5: I said, I hadn't seen the guy before, but I did.
- 12:08Speaker 3: I seen him talking to you doing my accss baby,
- 12:11Speaker 3: you need glasses.
- 12:12Speaker 4: That was Broden I was talking to I tell you
- 12:15Speaker 4: I've seen it. It was right after broad and left
- 12:17Speaker 4: you and come back here in your face when you
- 12:19Speaker 4: saw that guy.
- 12:21Speaker 5: Was like he was looking at a ghost.
- 12:23Speaker 3: You're dreaming thing.
- 12:24Speaker 5: No, no, I'm not. You're the guy he was after
- 12:27Speaker 5: when you killed him. You're a Joe Lester.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Oh look, didn't you hear him say that? Hayley followed
- 12:33Speaker 3: Lester out here on a bus about eight o'clock.
- 12:35Speaker 6: Well, my dear Woody, that that's right.
- 12:38Speaker 3: And I began ride here doing a show every twenty
- 12:41Speaker 3: minutes since noon. Ain't I just like you have? Oh?
- 12:44Speaker 5: That's right into after all? Oh honey, I was so scared.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Hi am, mister b What can I use your car
- 12:54Speaker 3: for an hour. You're mister Broden. Here's the keys. I
- 12:57Speaker 3: drove into the city for dinner and something went wrong
- 12:59Speaker 3: with my gassline. Had to come back on the bus.
- 13:03Speaker 5: You come out on the bus tonight, mister Browdon.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Yeah, you better get ready for the show.
- 13:07Speaker 4: About eight o'clock, wasn't it, mister Browdon?
- 13:10Speaker 3: What if it was?
- 13:11Speaker 5: And you was talking to Woody just before?
- 13:14Speaker 3: What are you getting at Louie?
- 13:17Speaker 5: Nothing?
- 13:19Speaker 3: Excuse me, she's kind of upset, Browdon, You know, seeing
- 13:24Speaker 3: a guy fall and everything. Are you sure that's all
- 13:27Speaker 3: it was? What else? Keep your shirt on, Bongo and
- 13:32Speaker 3: come out. Yeah, go ahead and take care of the
- 13:35Speaker 3: gorilla Woody. I think I has something to take care
- 13:38Speaker 3: of too.
- 13:56Speaker 6: Hey, Nick, do you really think it was Joe listed
- 13:59Speaker 6: that he was following?
- 14:00Speaker 3: Well, Maddie, you sell yourself. There was no real proof
- 14:03Speaker 3: that left her died in that prison break. The body
- 14:04Speaker 3: was never recovered.
- 14:05Speaker 5: And you know, Sir Haley was accused of helping that
- 14:08Speaker 5: engineer escape, and he must have thought by my finding
- 14:11Speaker 5: letter he could prove his inn.
- 14:12Speaker 6: Yeah, but Lester saw Haley first and kill him to
- 14:15Speaker 6: keep from being turned in. Yeah, yeah, figures.
- 14:19Speaker 3: Yeah, but how in the.
- 14:20Speaker 4: World did Haley's body ever get into.
- 14:22Speaker 5: That roller coach?
- 14:23Speaker 3: Maybe we'll find out when we catch the killer. I
- 14:25Speaker 3: wired bayside pen for Joe Lester's description and fingerprint classifications.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Run I said, be here in a couple of hours, and.
- 14:31Speaker 7: Once we get our hands on Lester, it like a set.
- 14:34Speaker 7: Girl from the side shows the gorilla trainer.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Looks, explained, I want to left. Yes, what is it?
- 14:40Speaker 3: I know who he is, Joe les Yeah, a few
- 14:44Speaker 3: minutes ago. Hey, cat, she said, I've got her. Give
- 14:47Speaker 3: me your hand by.
- 14:47Speaker 5: When with great scratch, what's the matter?
- 14:51Speaker 3: Look at my hand? Hey, let's blood all right, he's
- 14:55Speaker 3: just been shut and she did.
- 15:05Speaker 2: As Nick gently lowers the body of Lillian Latour to
- 15:08Speaker 2: the ground, A curious, excited crowd begins to gather around
- 15:11Speaker 2: the murdered girl. We'll see what happens in just a moment.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Now back to the.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Case of the Midway murders. Today's adventure with Nick Carter
- 15:23Speaker 2: brought to you by new post war old Dutch cleanser.
- 15:27Speaker 2: In the office of John Browden, the park manager, Nick
- 15:29Speaker 2: and Matty have been investigating the death of Lillian Latour.
- 15:32Speaker 3: I found it, Matty. Thanks to the noise of the
- 15:34Speaker 3: rides in the shooting gallery nearby. We haven't found anyone
- 15:36Speaker 3: who even heard the shot. I still can't believe it
- 15:40Speaker 3: really happened. Lill and me. We was going to be married,
- 15:43Speaker 3: all right. Take it easy, Woodie, we'll get this Joe Lester,
- 15:46Speaker 3: don't worry, and when we do, you always come back
- 15:48Speaker 3: to Joe lest You said yourself the man was dead, No,
- 15:52Speaker 3: mister Browdon. Sergeant Mathieson said he was reported there. But
- 15:55Speaker 3: I have a hunch we'll find him very much alive.
- 15:57Speaker 6: You said it, Nick, This Latour knew who he was,
- 16:00Speaker 6: that's why he killed her.
- 16:01Speaker 3: But she couldn't have known. She'd have said something to
- 16:04Speaker 3: me if she did. Why me and mister Browden was
- 16:07Speaker 3: talking to her not five minutes before before it happened. Wow,
- 16:12Speaker 3: that's very interesting because mister Tour's last words were that
- 16:16Speaker 3: she had just learned who Joe Lester was. Well that
- 16:20Speaker 3: then she must have found it out after she left us,
- 16:23Speaker 3: because there was no mention of him while we were talking.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Was the Woodie was there, Woodie? Oh no, no, mister Browton,
- 16:30Speaker 3: she never even mentioned his name. Hey, but I I
- 16:50Speaker 3: want to talk to you. I'm busy now, Woody, and
- 16:52Speaker 3: that's what I want to talk to you about. You
- 16:54Speaker 3: ain't going to be so busy from now on? What
- 16:58Speaker 3: do you mean? From now on? I'll be doing half
- 17:00Speaker 3: the work because you're gonna give me a half effriest
- 17:04Speaker 3: in this whole park. Now, look, Woody, you've been bleeding
- 17:08Speaker 3: me for three years. This is too much. I'm letting off.
- 17:13Speaker 3: What do you think the cops would say if I
- 17:15Speaker 3: told him that? George Haley come up to me just
- 17:18Speaker 3: after you left this afternoon and asked me if you
- 17:21Speaker 3: wasn't Joel Lester, that's a lie, that's the truth, Little
- 17:25Speaker 3: god Wise. I had to kill her too, I didn't.
- 17:28Speaker 3: It's a lie. I put on an ice ec for
- 17:30Speaker 3: the cops, didn't they the pool? Broken hearted boyfriend? That's me?
- 17:36Speaker 3: And now you're gonna pay for that act with half
- 17:39Speaker 3: of this park.
- 17:42Speaker 7: I won't do it.
- 17:44Speaker 3: You've bled me for the last time. I tore up alarm.
- 17:52Speaker 3: I thought you might pull something like that.
- 17:55Speaker 6: I'll just turn this over to the cops too, I would.
- 17:58Speaker 3: He was not interested. I want to know is do
- 18:00Speaker 3: I get half of the park or do I turn
- 18:04Speaker 3: the cops that you're Joe Lester. Okay, you win, Woody.
- 18:13Speaker 3: I let the papers drawn up tomorrow morning. Hey Gordy,
- 18:30Speaker 3: you got the whole roller coasts these, so thanks lym.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Now I want you to run this car slowly as
- 18:35Speaker 3: possible to the tunnel and when I yell stop it okay, okay,
- 18:39Speaker 3: But I still don't get the idea. I ain't room
- 18:42Speaker 3: for anybody to die in that tunnel. That's the same
- 18:44Speaker 3: I want to see for myself. So let's get started.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Huh Okay, here you go.
- 18:49Speaker 5: You put the audience. Do you think Gwinn's lying?
- 18:51Speaker 3: I don't know Paptin, but think Hailey's body couldn't have
- 18:54Speaker 3: been put in the roller coaster from outside. I can't
- 18:55Speaker 3: see where I else it could have been done.
- 18:57Speaker 6: But in the tunnel.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Here it is floor slimmer. You have the flashlight.
- 19:04Speaker 6: Here.
- 19:05Speaker 4: But I'll bet while we're pulling around here, Sergeant Madison
- 19:08Speaker 4: has already.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Caught you'll let year it could be the description and
- 19:11Speaker 3: fingerprint classifications got here from the baseline pen and Mattie
- 19:14Speaker 3: said he was going to round up every park employee.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Is he whether any of them resemble the description in
- 19:18Speaker 3: any way?
- 19:23Speaker 4: See Nick, it's Justice Swim said, this tunnel is much
- 19:26Speaker 4: too now for anyone to hide, and especially if he
- 19:28Speaker 4: were carrying a dead body.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Patsy, uh huh. The walls of this tunnel are boards. Well,
- 19:34Speaker 3: look at the two boards blight beside us where I'm
- 19:36Speaker 3: holding the flashlights.
- 19:37Speaker 5: But why they look as if they'd been taken out
- 19:40Speaker 5: and put back again.
- 19:41Speaker 3: They're going to be taken out a second time. Give
- 19:43Speaker 3: me the crow bar?
- 19:44Speaker 5: Yeah here.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Having face? What's sounds like the gorilla? What is compession?
- 19:52Speaker 3: Is next door? Yeah?
- 19:57Speaker 5: Well, you didn't accomplis much by taking those boards off.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Look what's on the other side, iron bars?
- 20:02Speaker 3: Yeah, that does upset my theory.
- 20:06Speaker 5: Nick, we must be right up against the gorilla's cage.
- 20:09Speaker 6: Let me put these boards out.
- 20:14Speaker 2: He is on the other side of the cake.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Don't worry. Patsy's Chamesy must be an exercise cage, too
- 20:18Speaker 3: big for anything else.
- 20:19Speaker 4: Well, Haley's body couldn't have come through there.
- 20:22Speaker 5: The bars are too close together.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Unless look, Patsy, this bars will Nick?
- 20:28Speaker 4: Nick put that ball out?
- 20:30Speaker 3: The gorilla trained twenty feet away from I'm going in
- 20:36Speaker 3: the case, maybe a better stay out here.
- 20:38Speaker 5: And that's exactly what I think. But I'm going with
- 20:40Speaker 5: you just.
- 20:41Speaker 3: The same, all right. Come on then, Hello, that's the
- 20:48Speaker 3: person I wanted to see. I'm inside the cage and
- 20:52Speaker 3: I'll show you.
- 20:56Speaker 5: I wish he wouldn't do that.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll stay there now. Yeah, I found out you
- 21:06Speaker 3: got George Haley body into that roller coaster car. How
- 21:09Speaker 3: uh You're wrong, Cornor I didn't kill him? Oh yes
- 21:13Speaker 3: you did, Woody, when he came into your show, you
- 21:15Speaker 3: learned him backstage and killed him with the blow on
- 21:17Speaker 3: the head. And when the roller coaster went through the
- 21:19Speaker 3: dark tunnel, you turned out the lights in here and
- 21:20Speaker 3: dumped the body into one of the cars at the
- 21:22Speaker 3: same opening we just came through. Maybe that's the way
- 21:24Speaker 3: it happened. But it wasn't me that done it. It
- 21:26Speaker 3: was problem He Joe Lester, how do you know? Him?
- 21:30Speaker 3: And me? Was at Fayside Pen at the same time.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Browdon got away on that break and everybody thought he'd
- 21:34Speaker 3: been killed. He came here, got his hands on some
- 21:36Speaker 3: money and started this park go on. Well, Hayley spotted
- 21:39Speaker 3: in the day. He asked me about him, and Browden
- 21:42Speaker 3: brought him back here to talk it over. That must
- 21:44Speaker 3: have been when he done it. How about Miss Latour,
- 21:46Speaker 3: lil See and Haley come in. She thought it was
- 21:49Speaker 3: me he was after, and when I proved that I
- 21:51Speaker 3: couldn't have been Lester, she knew Brodon was. And when
- 21:53Speaker 3: he learned that, she knew he had to kill her too. Ah, Bongo,
- 21:57Speaker 3: shut up, Woody.
- 21:58Speaker 4: If you're a lying it won't do you any good.
- 22:00Speaker 4: Joless description and fingerprints was sent here from Dayside Penitentiary.
- 22:04Speaker 3: O case, I'll let him take me and Browden down
- 22:05Speaker 3: a headquarters. MN fingerprints will prove he's the guy. One
- 22:08Speaker 3: thing more, Woody, why haven't you said this before? Even
- 22:12Speaker 3: after you thought Browden killed your girlfriend, you kept quiet.
- 22:14Speaker 3: I didn't know that he's done it, did I? And besides,
- 22:17Speaker 3: keeping quiet is paid off pretty good for me. I
- 22:19Speaker 3: mean you've been blackmailing Broughton. Yeah, I've been shaking him
- 22:23Speaker 3: down for plenty, But I sure ain't gonna go to
- 22:25Speaker 3: the chair for him. No, you're not. You're going to
- 22:28Speaker 3: the chair for your own crimes, not his. Huh. You've
- 22:31Speaker 3: just supplied the one thing that was lacking, Woody. I'mmorial.
- 22:34Speaker 3: You killed Hailey and Miss the tour because of either
- 22:36Speaker 3: of them had exposed Browden, but put an end to
- 22:38Speaker 3: your little blackmail record. Ah, that's crazy. You can't prove
- 22:41Speaker 3: nothing like that. I think I can. Mister Tours said
- 22:44Speaker 3: that no one could go near Bungo but you and her.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Oh I thought gotta do with it. The killer had
- 22:47Speaker 3: to bring Haley's body through this case, but Bongo was
- 22:50Speaker 3: chained up where he could reach the door, and anybody
- 22:52Speaker 3: who came through it, you ought to drive him away,
- 22:54Speaker 3: yourself a minute to go to get in here. It's
- 22:56Speaker 3: a sense that mister Tour didn't kill Haley and the
- 22:57Speaker 3: murder herself, so that leaves only you, Okay, smart guy.
- 23:02Speaker 3: So you think Bango would have torn anybody apart that
- 23:04Speaker 3: came here here except me and litt Well, I'm gonna
- 23:07Speaker 3: show it at You're right, the gorilla come behind me.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Whe Even as Nick frantically pulls the trigger, he knows
- 23:25Speaker 2: that revolver bullets can never stop the five hundred pound
- 23:28Speaker 2: gorilla charging furiously toward him and Patsy. We'll see what
- 23:31Speaker 2: happens in just a moment. Now for the conclusion of
- 23:39Speaker 2: the case of the Midway murders. Today's Adventure with Nick
- 23:43Speaker 2: Carter brought to you by new post war old Dutch cleanser.
- 23:47Speaker 3: In the gorilla's cage the idle our amusement park.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Nick and Patsy realize that revolver bullets may slow up
- 23:52Speaker 2: the attacking monster.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Never stop it, cat do that whole cage for the bars.
- 23:57Speaker 2: They hurried.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Guerrillas who pigs the squeeze through that hole. I still
- 24:11Speaker 3: have a couple of bullets left. You take another step,
- 24:13Speaker 3: I'm gonna shoot and tell him I've got this the
- 24:16Speaker 3: what he reeves where he'll be for some time to
- 24:18Speaker 3: come behind bar Sergeant. Yeah, I'm really glad it's over.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Ever since I escaped from the penitentiary, I've been living
- 24:42Speaker 3: in fear playing blackmail.
- 24:44Speaker 7: Yeah, it must have been pretty rugged, Browden, Maybe i'd
- 24:48Speaker 7: better call you.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Listen. After I finished my sentence, I can really be free.
- 24:52Speaker 3: You've been a pretty good citizen in these past twelve years, Broaden.
- 24:54Speaker 3: I think the pardon board may take that into consideration.
- 24:57Speaker 5: Especially since it was your first offense.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Whether they do or not, I'm glad I concleared George Haley.
- 25:02Speaker 3: If haven't had anything to do with the break, Believe me,
- 25:05Speaker 3: he didn't know a thing about it. I never thought
- 25:07Speaker 3: he did. But mister Carter, why did you believe I
- 25:11Speaker 3: was innocent of killing George after you found out that
- 25:13Speaker 3: I was Joe Lester. Why when I first mentioned that
- 25:16Speaker 3: George was on Lester's trail, Surprise and shock was written
- 25:19Speaker 3: all over your face. But that's what I mean. I
- 25:21Speaker 3: must have looked guilty. You did, and I figured you
- 25:24Speaker 3: either were Lester or knew something about him. But if
- 25:27Speaker 3: you had killed Haley for that reason, you wouldn't have
- 25:29Speaker 3: been surprised.
- 25:30Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, there's also one thing that's bothering me.
- 25:32Speaker 3: N Negg, What Betsy?
- 25:34Speaker 4: How could Wood he have been so sure Haley's body
- 25:36Speaker 4: would be thrown out of the roller coaster, so that
- 25:38Speaker 4: his death would look like an accident.
- 25:40Speaker 3: What he didn't plan it that way. His only idea
- 25:42Speaker 3: was to get rid of the body.
- 25:44Speaker 7: Oh, by the way, mister Browdon, you'll be glad to
- 25:46Speaker 7: hear that the vet saysure Gorilla isn't seriously wounded.
- 25:49Speaker 3: That's good. I only fired at his legs hoping to
- 25:51Speaker 3: stop him. I didn't want to kill him.
- 25:52Speaker 7: Yeah, but there won't be any more beauty in the
- 25:54Speaker 7: Beast Show without miss Laturu here in the cage with you.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Oh, I don't know. Maybe Patsy'd liked the job. Well,
- 26:00Speaker 3: you've already made one appearance.
- 26:01Speaker 4: In this case, I've made two appearances, Nick, my first
- 26:05Speaker 4: and my last.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Belief.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Nick Carter Master Detective is presented each week at the
- 26:33Speaker 2: same time by The cut a Hy Packing Company. It
- 26:36Speaker 2: is produced by Jack McGregor and is copyrighted by Street
- 26:39Speaker 2: and Smith Publications Incorporated. Charlotte Manson is featured as Patsy.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Ed Latimer plays Matty. Today's script was written by Jim
- 26:46Speaker 2: Parsons and directed by Charles Kank. Original music is played
- 26:50Speaker 2: by Henry Silvern. This program is fictional and any resemblance
- 26:54Speaker 2: to actual persons living or dead is purely coincidental. This
- 26:58Speaker 2: is Michael fitz Morris saying one minute count use new
- 27:02Speaker 2: post war old Dutch cleansers. This is the Mutual broodcasting System.
- 27:17Speaker 3: This is Andrew J. Graham, author of the web surface
- 27:20Speaker 3: series Oh and a Man of His Wife. You're listening
- 27:23Speaker 3: to the great Detectives of Old time Radio.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Welcome back. Well as always an exciting conclusion to the
- 27:36Speaker 1: Nick Carter case, he always has the most amazing conclusions.
- 27:46Speaker 1: There are a few radio detectives for whom facing and
- 27:50Speaker 1: Raging Guerrilla is just all in a week's work. I
- 27:52Speaker 1: should also mention the titles of those four lost episodes,
- 27:58Speaker 1: which is the Case of the Frightened Fingers, the Case
- 28:00Speaker 1: of the Doctor's Last Call, and the Case of the
- 28:03Speaker 1: Blackbird's Map, as well as the Case of the Deadly Passer. Well,
- 28:08Speaker 1: now we will turn to listener comments and feedback, and
- 28:14Speaker 1: we have a comment from Joel regarding our last video
- 28:18Speaker 1: theater episode featuring Ellery Queen. Joel said, I listened to
- 28:24Speaker 1: this one. It works as a radio play just as
- 28:26Speaker 1: well in my opinion. Good story. They'll kind of transparent ending.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Well.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Thanks Joel for the comment. A lot of the early
- 28:35Speaker 1: television shows were either written by people who had written
- 28:43Speaker 1: for radio, or somewhere directly adapted from radio plays. Several
- 28:50Speaker 1: years back, we played an episode called I'm the Law,
- 28:54Speaker 1: the Cowboy and the blind Man's Story, which was adapted
- 28:59Speaker 1: very erectly from an episode of the radio show Let
- 29:03Speaker 1: George Do It. That is true. There are some TV shows,
- 29:07Speaker 1: particularly when everything wasn't so visually dependent, that you can
- 29:12Speaker 1: close your eyes and listen to them just as well.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Sometimes your imagination can even beat their effects budget. If
- 29:20Speaker 1: that's part of the show. All right, Well, that will
- 29:23Speaker 1: do it for today. We will be back tomorrow with
- 29:27Speaker 1: your Shuley Johnny Dollar. Next Thursday another episode of Nick
- 29:31Speaker 1: Carter and Remember. Coming Monday and Tuesday of next week.
- 29:34Speaker 1: It's Michael Shane and Hearthstone at the Desk Squad. But
