- 0:02Jesus uses many metaphors, but we're gonna deal with one of the most complex metaphor he uses, but it's make- he tried to make it clear for us what he's trying to tell us in this life.
- 0:20See, when we realize we can apply this to our life, it changes everything Let's, let's go straight to the word'cause I, it's gonna take me a minute to get through this one, so I really wanna dig into it.
- 0:35Let's go to the Book of John.
- 0:37Let's go to the Book of John 15:5.
- 0:41John 15:5.
- 0:44What is Jesus teaching us?
- 0:47Jesus says,"I am the vine.
- 0:51You are the branches." Don't miss that, now.
- 0:55He's, I'm the vine, you're the branches.
- 0:58He's now giving us a metaphor of a tree.
- 1:01He is talking about connection of who we are.
- 1:06Now, th- just to keep on with just this verse, he say,"He that abideth in me, and I'm in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me, ye can do nothing." Now, let's deal with that real quick.
- 1:20I, I hope you got your thinking hat on,'cause I'm gonna take you deep into the word today now.
- 1:25When we talk about a tree, we understand root depth.
- 1:31A tree can handle a storm.
- 1:34Why?
- 1:35Because the roots are dug in to the ground.
- 1:38When Jesus says he's the vine, he's talking about connection, that we're the branches so we gonna bring fruit.
- 1:45Well, a tree brings fruits, but it's on the outside.
- 1:52We produce fruits, because he calls us a tree, on the inside, character.
- 1:59The, the title for the message today is Branches, which is a tree.
- 2:06When we hear the word, uh, wood, we know that came from a tree.
- 2:12Oh, we going all over the word today now.
- 2:13We gonna dig in now.
- 2:15The fruit that we're produ- ducing is inward character.
- 2:20That's Galatians, uh, Galatians 5:22-23, talking about love, peace, joy, patience, loving, godliness, goodliness.
- 2:28All of those are fruit that is produced from the inside with the Holy Spirit.
- 2:35Oh, let's go ahead now.
- 2:36See, now we're gonna dig into some things that the word was saying, and he uses this all through the word of God.
- 2:43Why?
- 2:43Because Jesus was a carpenter.
- 2:45He's gonna connect all of these books, all of these character of people together because he's a carpenter.
- 2:54This is how deep the word of God goes.
- 2:56Hold onto your hat'cause we're about to deal with something.
- 2:59When we're rooted in God, we are rooted in the word, so that's why we're digging in the word like we are today.
- 3:08In the Book of Matthew 13:31-32, Matthew 13:31-32, he talks about herbs and becoming a tree.
- 3:20We're talking about mustard seed now.
- 3:23Mustard seed is a very small seed.
- 3:28But when a mustard seed grows, it becomes a tree.
- 3:32Wow.
- 3:34Look at how God uses this metaphor in all of these different books, these different, with these different people, but now He's acknowledging He is the vine.
- 3:46I'm the one connecting...
- 3:48Remember now, a vine is part of a tree now.
- 3:51I'm the one connected to you, and that's why you can produce fruit, because that's the Holy Spirit.
- 3:57Let's go on now.
- 3:58Let's go on.
- 3:58In Psalms 1:3, it talk about trees firmly planted.
- 4:04Why?
- 4:05Because when you're firmly planted in God, he says nothing can move you.
- 4:09In Exodus 37:1-5, it talk about the ark of, i- it talking about the arcadia, which is wood.
- 4:17It's now bringing us together to show us it's about the tree.
- 4:23It's about connection, that we're the branches.
- 4:27In the Book of Jeremiah 1:11-12, it talks about a rod of almond tree.
- 4:35Why?
- 4:36Almond is where the spirit comes from, if you understand the Old Testament, of where anointing come from.
- 4:43We going on now.
- 4:44In the Book of Job 30:4, it talk about bushes.
- 4:48Well, a bush starts out a bush, but it turns into a tree.
- 4:52He's giving us the metaphor of being grounded and rooted in Him, and that's why if we're the branch, we gotta be connected to that vine.
- 5:02In Isaiah 6:13, it talk about the holy seed.
- 5:08It, it...
- 5:08Now, watch this.
- 5:09It's, it, it, it, we talking about the stump.
- 5:12He said,"Even the stump, if it's still connected, it's still living." If the stump is still connected, the roots are still out there trying to let us know, even if you think it blows you down, don't worry, be the stump because long as you're still, still, your root is still there in Jesus, in the Word, it say you're gonna be fine'cause the tree can grow again.
- 5:38Now, why am I telling you all of this?
- 5:40Because it's, I've hinted all through my words, but the carpenter is bringing it all together.
- 5:47In the Book of Ezekiel 17:5-6, it says spreading, it says spreading vine with his branches.
- 5:55Using the metaphor again.
- 5:57Jesus says,"I'm the vine, and you're the branches." What is He telling us?
- 6:02A tree is one of the most remarkable things that has been granted to the earth because there are trees that was here when Jesus walked the earth.
- 6:14It's still here.
- 6:15It's still living Thousands of years later.
- 6:22In the book of Joshua, chapter 24, verse 26, it talks about under the oak that was by, now watch this, by the sanctuary of the Lord.
- 6:34He, he says,"If you pay attention to the word of God, trees are always someplace where God is.
- 6:42Trees are always with the man and the woman of God that's making the move of God.
- 6:47Tree is always symbolic somewhere in the story of every major character." Oh, we gonna deal with some of them in a minute.
- 6:55Just hold on now.
- 6:58In the book of Psalms, chapter 52, verse eight, it talk about a green olive tree in the house of the Lord.
- 7:08You see, we know that no matter what's going on in the world, if you're connected to Jesus, you will prosper.
- 7:16Why?
- 7:16You have to.
- 7:17He said,"You're connected to me." In 1 Kings, chapter 10, verse 11 through 12, it talk about trees and precious stones.
- 7:27Why do you think he hide the word trees all through his scriptures?
- 7:33He says,"Most people will never get it." He said,"But the ones I've called, they will explain these." Now, go on, hold on now.
- 7:43In the book of Genesis, chapter 13, verse eight, it talk about oaks of Mamre.
- 7:49Now, Abraham moved his tent where?
- 7:53In Mamre.
- 7:54And what was he showing us?
- 7:55He was showing us the significance of the oak tree.
- 8:01The oak is a type, but it was about the tree because we are the branches, and he is the vine.
- 8:08Now, that was showing us Abraham.
- 8:10Now, let me, let me show you now.
- 8:12People, he's showing us that you are to produce either godly character or non-godly character.
- 8:21He said,"A corrupt tree cannot bring forth good fruits." Those are character.
- 8:27Uh,"A righteous tree cannot bring forth corrupt fruit." He said,"It won't work." I look at people For the fruits that they possess because that's their character.
- 8:42In 2 Samuel 5:22-25, it talk about, uh, the tree of bela- balsam.
- 8:50And balsam is a tree.
- 8:53This is where it tells David to go on the other side.
- 8:56Why?
- 8:57Because the tree's gonna let you recognize my spirit of when to attack.
- 9:01In the Book of Isaiah 44:4, it talk about cedar and cypress of an oak tree.
- 9:09Whoa.
- 9:10All through the word, it's teaching us about tree, the branches, the vine.
- 9:18In Isaiah 6:13, it talk about the box tree and the cy- cypress tree.
- 9:26What is he showing us?
- 9:27Well, guess what?
- 9:28It's gonna get even deeper because we gonna go back into Genesis, and we gonna, we gonna also finish up in the Book of Revelation where tree's gonna even be where?
- 9:38In heaven.
- 9:38Come on.
- 9:39Tree was in the Garden of Eden.
- 9:41Let me, y'all, I'm, I'm getting ahead of myself.
- 9:42I'm too excited now.
- 9:44I gotta calm down because you're getting something that most people never get every day.
- 9:49We're revealing these mysteries of God.
- 9:53You know, a lot of people don't know, Jesus said,"I wanna build my house upon the rock." Well, the rock was not Peter, the rock was on revelational knowledge, and revelational knowledge is what my people need today.
- 10:04This what God was trying to show us.
- 10:07He says,"I'm building my church on revelational knowledge." In the Book of Genesis 30:37, it talk about almond trees.
- 10:19And I want you to hear me now.
- 10:21It talk about almond trees, but who was there?
- 10:25Jacob.
- 10:27What was he showing us?
- 10:30Jacob had to be a tree.
- 10:32You remember when Jacob wrestled with the angel of the Lord, and he said his hip came out?
- 10:36What y'all don't realize is Jacob had to use a tree from that point on.
- 10:41Why?
- 10:42Not only is he a shepherd, it need to balance him.
- 10:45Now we see the tree is helping him stand to be Israel, which is what the children of Israel is named after.
- 10:53In Ezekiel 31:3, it talk about cedar in Lebanon.
- 10:58Why is God showing all of this?
- 11:01He says,"I wanna bring some things that have never been taught before.
- 11:05I wanna bring some things to you so you can understand who you are." See, when you start off like a mustard seed, you're small.
- 11:12Your faith is small.
- 11:13He said,"But if you allow it to grow in the word," it says, guess what,"You'll be a tree that can stand no matter what storm come your way." In the Book of Micah 4:4, it talk about under his vine and under his fig tree.
- 11:30Uh, fig tree is a metaphor that Jesus told us,"Learn the parable of the fig tree." Why is that important?
- 11:39He said because fig tree shows us a relationship with the Gentiles and the children of Israel.
- 11:45He said,"I'm gonna graft you in, Gentiles, so you can be a part of my body just like the children of Israel." In Isaiah chapter 41, verse 19 through 20, it talk about cedar in the wilderness.
- 12:02Well, first of all, if you really understand the wilderness, uh, there's not a lot of trees, so do we know these trees are significant.
- 12:10In the Book of Numbers, chapter 33, verse 9, it talk about 70 palm trees.
- 12:16It's about the trees.
- 12:18He said,"I want you to have godly fruits, but it has to grow on the inside." Those are process that you must go through understanding who God is.
- 12:31In 1 Kings chapter 10, verse 27, it started talking about the cedars as plentiful as the sycamore.
- 12:40It's giving you understanding.
- 12:42I, I, I wanna give you this one for free because you've heard of it, but when we talk about Zacchaeus, Zacchaeus is where?
- 12:48In the sycamore tree, and Jesus saw him and said,"Come down, Za- Zacchaeus.
- 12:53I'm gonna have dinner at your home." We're going on.
- 12:56We're going on.
- 12:57In Genesis 1:12, it talk about trees bearing fruit.
- 13:02I know you've read it before, but now I'm giving you some understanding.
- 13:06It says,"I wanted to release this even in Genesis even when you didn't understand." In Romans chapter 11, verse 24, it talk about the wild olive trees.
- 13:17I know I'm bringing some things now, but I'm bringing things that you never even put together before because the wisdom of God is speaking of the knowledge of God so we can have some understanding of how accurate God is in His Word When we talk about Romans 11:24, the wild olive trees.
- 13:37We go on to Genesis 18:4, it's a under the tree.
- 13:40Who was under the tree?
- 13:42Abraham told the Lord,"Go rest yourself under the tree, and I'll fetch you some water for your feet." I'll-- it said,"Relax under the shade of the tree that's in by, that's by my house." In Genesis 35:18, Deborah, which is Rebekah maid, when she died, guess what?
- 14:02She was buried where?
- 14:03Under the oak tree.
- 14:04Why is this important?
- 14:06Because it shows us the significance of the tree.
- 14:10In Deuteronomy 20:19, it says,"Do not destroy the trees." When they destroy the city, it says,"Now, I know you're go- gonna destroy the city, but do not destroy the trees." Why?
- 14:24That's how accurate the word of God is.
- 14:27He said,"I've hid this all through my word, but it's now being revealed by my prophets." But in the Book of Acts 5:30, Jesus hang on a cross, which is a tree.
- 14:41If you see wood, you gonna see trees.
- 14:45When Noah built the ark, he's built it out of wood, which came from trees.
- 14:52When they built the Ark of the Covenant, they built it out wood, which was trees.
- 14:57In the Book of Deuteronomy 8:8, it talk about vines and fig trees.
- 15:03We understand the parable of the fig trees because we understand God word now about trees.
- 15:10We are to produce godly fruit.
- 15:12Godly fruits, that's why he keep calling us the branches.
- 15:17In 2 Samuel 6:5, it talks about all kinds of instruments made by what?
- 15:24Wood.
- 15:25And now, now you talking about the word now.
- 15:27See, all these instruments that was made was made by what?
- 15:31Trees Judges 9:9, it talk about the olive tree said to them.
- 15:38Well, who the olive tree?
- 15:39That's God.
- 15:40That's Christ if you, if you w- want a better understanding.
- 15:44In the book of Exodus 15:27, it talk about 70 date palm trees.
- 15:51In Hosea 4:13, it talk about under the oaks.
- 15:56What is it telling us?
- 15:57If we get ourself under God, He'll be that oak tree that's protecting us.
- 16:03If we bring ourself to understand who we supposed to be, we'll be that branch that's connected to the vine, which is Jesus Christ, and He says,"You have to produce fruit." And he goes on and says,"The Father is the husbandman, and He will prune you to bring forth," what?
- 16:18More fruits.
- 16:20In the book of Amos 7:14, it talk about the sycamore figs.
- 16:25In Psalms 1, chapter 1 verse 1 through 3, it say,"Like a tree firmly planted." He says,"If you stay in my word, you will be firmly planted like a tree by the, beside water." In the book of, uh, Proverbs 11:30, it talk about the fruit of righteousness is a tree of life.
- 16:47Ah, don't, don't miss that, don't, don't miss that now.
- 16:49He, He's now giving us understanding about these righteous trees, these characters of God.
- 16:57In Proverbs 3:18, it says,"She is a tree of life." Why do you think it does that?
- 17:05Because He wants you to understand character.
- 17:09It wants you to understand, if you say you connected to God, He said,"If you are following Christ, and you are not walking in this," He says,"you're a liar, and the truth not in you.
- 17:20Because there's no way you can be connected to Me and be my branch and walk in sin." Well, we going on.
- 17:26In the book of Matthew 7:17-19,"A good tree cannot bear bad fruits." Uh-oh, uh-oh, that's the word now.
- 17:35I know I just got into it a little while ago, but He goes back and He reiterate it again.
- 17:39In Matthew 7:17-19, it say,"A good tree," we talking about a tree of God, He said,"It cannot bear bad fruits." He says,"There's no way you could tell Me you have the Holy Spirit, and you walking in darkness or walking in sin." He said,"That does not line up, and even though you might can't understand that in the spiritual realm," He says,"Show Me a pear tree that produce bad fruits." Show me a apple tree that produce grapefruit.
- 18:09It doesn't work.
- 18:11He said,"If you can't see it in the natural, how can you see it in the spiritual?" Let me go on, let me go on.
- 18:17In the Book of Isaiah 65:22, it says,"Lifetime of a tree." It's a timeline even for a tree.
- 18:27In the Book of Luke 23:31, it talk about a tree is green.
- 18:32Wow A tree is green.
- 18:38That's why we're the branches and we connect to the vine.
- 18:40In Revelation 22:14, which as I talked to you before, it said,"Have the right of the tree of life." He says,"Those who hold on, they will have," watch this now,"the right to the tree of life." Whoa, now this is the last chapter in the Book of Revelation.
- 19:01It now took us back to the Garden of Eden.
- 19:03The Garden of Eden tree of life has been removed from Garden, from Genesis, to the end, Revelation.
- 19:11Now let me give you a revelation now.
- 19:12So I, I, I know you want it now, so I wanna take you a little deeper.
- 19:16We all know in the Garden of Eden, it was the tree of life in the center.
- 19:22Well, let me help you out.
- 19:23That tree was Jesus.
- 19:25That's why when Jesus said,"If you eat of this tree, you shall never die." If Adam had eat of that tree, he would've never died.
- 19:33That's why he put the cherubim there with the swirling sword, so he couldn't come back and taste of that tree.
- 19:40Now, let me give you a revelation that the Lord showed me.
- 19:46We always thought that the tree of knowledge of good and evil was always bad How about the revelation of understanding the tree of knowledge of good and evil was the tree of the Holy Spirit, and it was teaching us that you cannot get God Let me, let me break that down.
- 20:15Let me, let me slow it down so I can really get that.
- 20:18See, a lot of people want the Holy Spirit without Jesus.
- 20:21Can't work.
- 20:23He says,"You are trying to get this the wrong way." He says,"You gotta go the right way.
- 20:31If you go to the tree of life, which is Jesus, then you can have the Holy Spirit." He said,"But the problem is people want the good and the blessing of God without God." Wow, there was a problem It was out of order.
- 20:50But let me go on, let me go on.
- 20:51We, we, we in it now.
- 20:53You don't need to stop now.
- 20:54In First Kings chapter five, verse 10, it talk about cedar and cypress timber.
- 20:59We talking about trees now.
- 21:01First Kings 19:4, it said under a Jupiter tree.
- 21:05In Exodus three, verse two, it says the midst of the bush.
- 21:09When Moses was talking to the angel of the Lord, which is Jesus He was where?
- 21:16The Lord was in the midst of a bush, which is a tree.
- 21:20Isn't it ironic that when the Lord first spoke to Moses, he spoke to Moses by a tree?
- 21:28Come on.
- 21:30In Genesis chapter six verse fourteen, it said Noah made arcs, the ark out of gopher wood, which is a tree He says, watch this now, he says,"In the end, Jesus, the carpenter, is gonna be nailed to the tree.
- 21:51When he nailed, when he's nailed to the tree, he becomes the tree of life." Now, watch the revelation now.
- 21:58When Noah builds the ark out of tree, he now show us the savior because the tree, the wood, has to lift up his family and protect them from the water.
- 22:12Oh, come on now.
- 22:13Now we recognize he's, the ark of the, the ark that Noah builds is showing us the savior.
- 22:22Let me go on, let me go on.
- 22:23In Genesis 2:9, he talk about the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and that's what I just taught you a little while ago, how the tree of life was Jesus, and the tree of knowledge,'cause if you understand knowledge, that's one of the spirits, the spirit of knowledge.
- 22:42Oh, come on now, we talking about, we, we talking real stuff now.
- 22:45See, most people don't even know there are seven spirits of God.
- 22:48So if you don't know there's the spirit of the Lord, that's one.
- 22:53If you don't know there's the fear of the Lord, that's two.
- 22:56If you don't know there's a spirit of counsel, that's three.
- 22:59If you don't understand there's a spirit of wisdom, that's four.
- 23:02If you don't understand there's a spirit of knowledge, that's five.
- 23:04And there's also the spirit of dudamos, that's six.
- 23:08And the last one is the spirit of understanding.
- 23:11And there lies the problem with the average Christian, they don't understand what spirit they have.
- 23:18But we're not stopping there.
- 23:20We're going on.
- 23:22In Matthew 21:28-32, he talk about Jesus.
- 23:30He's, Jesus cursed the fig tree.
- 23:33Why did Jesus curse the fig tree?
- 23:38See, a lot of times people don't understand the metaphor behind the story, because Jerusalem should've been ready for Jesus coming.
- 23:46It was already prophesied by Daniel the prophet, but they wasn't ready, so he's showing it.
- 23:53Let me keep it going.
- 23:54Let me keep going.
- 23:55See, in Matthew 24:32, now we learn the parable of the fig tree.
- 24:02He said,"Learn the parable of the fig tree." He said,"This is important.
- 24:09Learn the parable of the fig tree." In the Book of Mark 4:35-41, Jesus calms the storm.
- 24:21Now, I know you're saying to yourself,"Okay now, Pastor, I'm confused now.
- 24:26How is Jesus calming the storm have anything to do with what you just told me about branches and the vine, and how is the tree?" Guess what the boats are made of?
- 24:40Wood, which is trees.
- 24:44See, see how, see how, see how obscured the word can be?
- 24:50So when he's calming the storm, the storm is trying to bring down the boat, but it can't bring down the boat because the vine is on the boat, and the vine is connected to branch, and Jesus is asking them,"How can you be so fearful when you're connected to the vine?
- 25:03I'm in the boat with you, and there's no way you can go down'cause I can't go down." Oh, my goodness gracious All through the word of God, he's showing us the metaphor of the significance of the tree.
- 25:21Why we gotta stay connected to him,'cause if he's the vine, and we're the branches, we gotta stay part of that tree.
- 25:29We gotta be the tree, and we gotta produce godly fruit.
- 25:33Now, I know you're saying to yourself,"Man, come on." Well, it gets even deeper than that.
- 25:40When Aaron, the first priest, guess what he has?
- 25:45He has a rod.
- 25:47Guess what his rod is made of?
- 25:49It's almond, and guess what it does?
- 25:52It still bud, and it's already cut.
- 25:54He's showing us the part of a tree.
- 25:57Well, guess what?
- 25:58When the Lord first called Moses, he told Moses,"What do you have in your hand?" He says,"It, it, it was a stick.
- 26:05It was just a stick.
- 26:06It was this walking stick.
- 26:07I got that." And guess what he told him to do?
- 26:09"Throw it on the ground." What happened?
- 26:11It turned into a snake.
- 26:12Then he did something that most people miss.
- 26:15He said,"Grab the snake by his tail." He gave him instruction of how to deal with what's coming Why did he do all of this?
- 26:36Because he wanted to show us he's the carpenter.
- 26:40Carpenter builds things.
- 26:42He said,"I'm gonna build from Genesis to Revelation, I'm gonna build in people in character, and I'm gonna show you some things that you need to understand." See, when you see David, and David is going behind the Ark of the Covenant or the Ark of the Testimony, David is worshiping, dancing, but guess what he's really following?
- 27:04He's following Christ.
- 27:06Why?
- 27:06Because Christ is letting us know,"I'm the vine.
- 27:10You're the branches." And guess what the Ark of the Covenant or the Ark of the Testimony is made out of?
- 27:16Wood You, you, you gotta be serious.
- 27:23The tabernacle, guess what it was made out of?
- 27:25Wood.
- 27:26When Solomon built the temple, guess what he brought?
- 27:29Wood from Lebanon.
- 27:30Why?
- 27:33Because he was showing us the significance of we being the branches, which is the tree, a part of the tree of life You mean to tell me all of these years, most people have never even seen this?
- 27:55Never even begin-- Now, I could even bring more scriptures, but I wanted to bring enough scriptures, uh,'cause I think it's like forty or fifty scriptures I brought.
- 28:04But I wanted to bring enough scriptures so you can understand this book wasn't accidentally put together.
- 28:10This book was put together by the wisdom of God and His power and His might to show us,"I'm as real as they come.
- 28:21The problem is you can only receive me if you seek me." Why you think He says,"First seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you"?
- 28:33The revelation of that, guys, you know why He gives this to me?
- 28:38Because He knew who I was gonna be before He even formed the world.
- 28:44He says,"I'm gonna send a man that's gonna give you an understanding of my word that has never been told before." That's the word.
- 28:54Are you the branch, and are you connected to the vine?
- 29:00Because you can't produce godly fruit without being connected to the vine.
- 29:05I'm telling you, I hope you understand, and I hope you hear that God is real, and He said,"If you're my branch and you're connected to the vine, you have to produce godly fruit."
